"A contentious meeting, the loudoun county school board voted not to release an internal report into the school system's handling of two students sexual assaults. "Anybody comedy it's a comedy. It's a half hour comedy right. They just finished the second second season. Hbo max hilarious. You can whiz through the whole season two seasons in in an afternoon and night. I knew even here the show with a month ago. I can't say how many people besides you like normal. "All right i'm just going to say a few words you tell me what first comes to your mind. Parrots favorite golf course probably concessions in in florida that was played it Only played at once but challenging in absolutely beautiful yeah. I've heard i've heard that actually concession. Yeah i've never played it will now obviously haven't but you know yeah Beautiful of course they have the Why don't they still do the trying to bear for for a while. The final suck Yeah absolutely beautiful course in very challenging all right favorite. Nhl moment Probably the rangers and game seven mandar nice with tampa and the conference. Final that sick. Yeah that's awesome so i got traded. Obviously the following year we went to the conference finals game says and you know at the garden where i grew kind of grew up so Not get win and go on and stanley cup finals. Every special moment with decade medicare just thinking about everything. Right all right i know. Jt mentioned guinness. But what your drink of choice. Drink of choice. How you know. That's a tough one. Because i i'm literally i go from wine. Beer vodka tequila. I'm i'm all over the board. So i don't i i'm not. I'm not picky when it comes to my booth. "We're playing tonight. He was playing with you. You know you could poor guys. Loughgall follows act like. Oh we're going after practice in the nhl and that's an interesting thing. I think people think that these hockey players. That's all i do's hockey and they don't have a life outside of hockey but in the nhl when you plant a warmer city is it generally accepted on your off days or maybe after a practice. You don't have a game the next day to go peg it up after route. Yeah it's it is. I mean it's just a you get away from it all to write. You're thinking in playing hockey twenty. Four seven you're gonna get burned out worn out so you have the luxury of living in a warm city where you know you can play golf in december and get away from the game a little bit and you know just outside and clear your head. It's definitely welcomed and it's not frowned upon it. All by you know coaches or the organization. It's me it's no everybody's everybody's doing that. So i mean there's a there's a run there with talking about you. Know j. t. miller me j. t. miller had men and coast. We were when we fly into a city towards the end of the year. So that he's getting not nice but warming optic often just find any muny anywhere. We were applying into detroit. We'd find him. Uni put on our wear. Had you know thread shirts. Go read clubs and go play as you know. I mean you know it's It's just something you do. Yeah you can't beat it and you know you just can't beat it. You can't beat it. "Yep awesome all right so you just got off the golf course How how'd you play Not bad for me. A shock eighty eighty two today which is usually him back ballpark. Yes i'm i'm a six handicap and A little high for me. But i played the A member here in rochester. Okay yeah. I played the championship. Course Today so i have my challenges with the russ russell little long sometimes lacking through. Yeah yeah of course looks beautiful. I never played it but it was the strength of your game putting My short game actually has been Good my drive. Drive is what hurts me. yeah i i'm a long distance. I two ways. But i mean i think has probably most players have keeping it keeping street sometimes but yeah it's I love it. I mean i. I love playing golf. I play since i was know real young and You know something. I really enjoy doing. Well you know what it is chase. And that's what we talk about on chasing birdies. I mean we're out there chasing birdies in you know you get through around a golf. You might not be playing. Well you come down to eighteen hole year two good shot and guess what you can't you're already thinking about when you come back. I mean that's golf one hundred percent. Yeah you're right. I mean thinking about eighteen today. Pretty close match with a buddy of mine out playing and it went a little right and kind of the rock in and go all the way up with an elevated eighteenth green upset at the bottom of a chip past the whole sitting on the fringe behind the whole maybe country from the whole looking downhill. He's putting to. He's about twenty feet away. he ends up three. I put mine off. The fringe hit the pin drop. It could have been better shot to win the match. So that's exactly you're right right there. I was like okay. Well when we when we playing against. That's right there. That's that's the best part about golf too. I mean do you think about it. You were one of the most elite athletes for thirteen years. And you still have the ability to play golf for the rest of your life with your children with your best friends. I mean there's very few things in this world that we can do a with three other buddies that you really enjoy and travel the world west.

"Well you know talking to you right now ryan. It sounds like you would be a really good hockey analyst and From what i understand. Is there room or is it true. You just got picked up by. Espn as a teacher analyst. can't confirm tonight that i guess you know up in spinal. Is there yet. But i've done stuff with the nhl network and i've also done stuff with nbc past year and a half now and never enjoyed it. I thought it was. It keeps me in the game talking hockey watching hockey. So i've had fun with it and You know we'll see we'll see what comes next with awesome. I know in the few conversations. United have had you've formed foundation with your wife the ryan callahan foundation. So do you want to kind of fill listeners. in a little bit about your foundation. What it's doing and how we can help. Yeah absolutely so yes. I got to tampa i six year. Deal there We knew we're going to be in tampa for a while. And my wife. And i wanted to give back and do something for the for the community there and you know my my wife lost a family member early pediatric cancer. And i just do doing work in new york with with with kids with cancer. It's something that both how near and dear to us to our hearts and so just started pretty simple and we're having Pediatric cancer families. Come to the game sitting the street. bias read. We bring a bunch of families then and then after the game they'd come down i'd sign some autographs. Take some pictures and through meeting. These families were like we. We gotta be more. These kids are amazing families. Need more you know. Money wise support So through that we. After that first year we started the ryan callahan out asia. Got you guys. Got our five at once. He three and and we expanded what we were doing and we started what we call it. The two four klopp where it's almost like a make a wish style type of thing where we were picking a family each month and sending them on vacation so place where they wanted to go for for the weekend and in our foundation kind of geared toward family unity and spending time together away from the treatment center to make me make memories. That you know are are gonna last forever that you know not necessarily..

"Time right now. I think it's a shame. I'll be honest with you. Do not send your child players there. you know. Obviously didn't they were gonna last olympics and it's just it's such a. It's such an honor to be able to represent your country needs more than hockey Me more than a sport You know and you want the best players in the world over there and you know to take extremely lucknow. Obviously playing to think about the young guys coming in now that would have a chance to grow and having that maybe taking away taking away from them. And i think it's a shame i mean i understand the business side of it with the money and insurance and everything else but i i just think shame because it's quite a feeling to be able to put on that. Usa sweater and it represents something way bigger than yourself or either way sport hockey. Well in like you said to growing up as a hockey player. There's things that you strive to get is stanley cup and a gold medal in taken that away that second part away from from any of the gel players which like you said. There's nothing like those games. You got the best talent in the world on the same ice. I mean the fourth lines are first lines on most nhl. Exactly does that cry crosby. Did he score the game winner. And that game. Yeah he did he did. Yeah i still have nightmares him coming out of the corner shooting and putting it in the net. Yeah so he did he He toured the weather. There you've been in the league for a long time in your minds in a time that you played who had the best work. The hardest worker most talent. Would you say. I mean. I guess that's two different questions you talked about the most talented player and i probably would say crosby is probably the most talented all around player in mcdavid. I think is maybe challenge that but you know. I don't think he's there yet. But i would definitely put crosby as the back player that i played against just in terms of everything he can do and he was very good defensively. Good on faceoffs. You'd set his talking made linemates way better than sometimes they should have been. You know tour goal just unbelievable leader as well. so he's probably the best player returns a work ethic. There's there's a lot of guys are probably stick out to me. I think one of them is is one hundred one quest and the way he worked you know way he mastered his craft. He was a guy that was on the ice early and late and always trying to get better work with the goalie coach there in new york. You know he was. He's a hard working guy but we at that level. There's a lot of guys that put the hard work into get there right so hard to point out one or two but he pops in my head for probably got it that that worked really hard as craft and it showed on the ice for sure..

"I feel in love with that city organization right away and that's summer ended up resigning For six years with Tampa yeah they're organization over the last twelve. Years has really been impressive. The watch. I mean talent after talent. You got stamkos headman. There's so much talent on a team right now and did you play with stamkos. Was he there when yup yup yup. I play with her the whole time i was there. Yeah obviously unbelievable guy. Could captain him became very close. Good friends good friends now. So i was extremely excited last year when i got to see the same finally went after all the injuries. And everything he's got to finally let you know that was That's pretty special. So did you play in tampa with our good friend. Jt miller de did yeah. He was part of the wave of new york players that they came over. It seemed like new york and tampa opened up the floodgates trade wise we had boiler strongmen mcdonagh me And then obviously You build. He came over as well. i played with him in new york. And then i i also played with. Yeah he had mentioned that He drinks more guinness than you sat right. Couple on the road. Dory we We put the a couple of times. But he's a great guy. We we have some The memorable nights in some good days together he had mentioned I think one memorable have been a couple of memorable nights. After you guys got swept in tampa. He said that you guys had a good good few nights there with with the guinness. Oh yeah we did Probably one too many but sometimes apart. Tenderer researchers yeah. I'm sure that as well right up. "Bright lights you are under the microscope. It's almost a little bit of. You're not in canada. Obviously but it's y- they knew everything about you. Yeah it was definitely different. I think i. I was lucky enough as that's where i started. So that's all. I knew if that if that makes sense you know so Going into the league and obviously eventually becoming captain they're like i mean people ask me like what about the media attention like i didn't i didn't know anything different so i just kind of how it was and then you know so i was okay with it i. It's kinda how i grew up. You know realizing that you know everything you do and every move you make. Someone shouldn't be watching or you're gonna have media attention around you. And then i got traded to tampa remember my first game and tap on the locker room after the game and you know new york. Usually the media comes comes flying in you. Know there's fifteen twenty people cameras everything and so sitting down. There's like maybe two or three reporters no cameras. I'm like i said the is our filth below sitting next to me. I said you know big guy stuck in the elevator. Like where's the rest of the these is. This is my colleague cows. You're right. I really like the difference real quick. You know what's what's i got tampa and i think it'd be tougher to go from a team like that. You know to new york. Where when you're used to that but kinda of how i i grew up in what i do so it didn't make a difference to me well and that's the crazy thing right now with you. Look at the nhl very young league right now in these nineteen year old kids twenty year. Old kids coming into the league and they handle the media gracefully way. I mean it's it's really cool to watch How mature these kids are. And i feel like a lot of that tuesday social media aspect of. You didn't really have to worry about that when you were in new york. I ninety not far for me so two games a year my dad and brother and stuff but i think being drafted by the rangers probably second best to that just being an original sixteen as you start to think anybody who lives in new york. State is roots for the rangers as well i. I always cheered for them as well. sort of be able to pick up by them. I think i was kind of a Dream come true just it. So it's such a historic organization. I think is the biggest thing at all. I couldn't have been more excited. The first year i was eligible for the draft. I've passed up. Nobody selected me. So i was just happy to go the second year and it was the ranger so jerry is up. So is that a little bit of a chip on your shoulder for the second year. You that little gap. There work a little bit harder. Proven wrong type thing. Yeah absolutely you know that that first euros up playing junior hockey in canada and my first draft eligible year. I didn't have that great of years. My first year there canada kind of getting used to the league wasn't you know wasn't a star player and then that following year i was more comfortable..

"My old stomping grounds in Kansas City, which I'm super excited about. So if you're a old school, Kansas City D, a show listener between the years 03 and 08 The infancy of this absurdity. Going to be doing a reunion show. The station asked me to If I'd like to do that one time this summer. As a fill in guest host and I said, Absolutely, That'd be awesome. So we're dusting off all the old ridiculousness coming up here one week from today. I'll still be doing my morning. Show this this show throughout next week, but I'll be doing Tuesday afternoon show from 6 10 Sports Radio and K C and then also my morning show from Casey for a couple of days as well. That should be awesome. I'm looking forward to stuffing my moth full of ribs and Kansas City barbecue and just being basically a total slob next week, so very, very much excited about this there. I've woken up and done a show from my my office. I don't need credit for dressing in a button down. It's just what you do is just what you should do. But he just He's just a baby. He's just a big baby. And of course, he's a friend. And of course, he's a colleague. And of course, he's a dear friend of mine. But, you know, I tell them Tell them him this all the time. You don't need credit for everything, man. Like you don't have to get you don't have to get credit for the flu game. You just show up in you do your job, and that's it. It's just called your job. "Out the access to the outdoors right. I mean the fact that we can be hunting. Elk deer sometimes antelope Grouse we can. We can be fly fishing for native fish. And so i think that there is a huge benefit in in having all of that at an arm's distance and really having more than that right in terms of the outdoor rec side skiing mountain biking trail running mountaineering rock climbing all of that. Not just hunting really doing other things and bringing that technology and bringing that fabric to hunting and saying hey wools kick ass we love. We love it in september for archery hunting elk also but it can't be yellow. We're going to do that friday. That's really sort of the creation story of our company in its very much centered in in this place and where we are as a company not agree and a mean even though we're kind of out in a bigger city in the desert as far as what really is our main facility It's within three hours of ceo shop. Formerly the quality management association which is a great group of guys and gals that i've kind of grown up with and am honored to sort of now work with on a day to day basis and in a far closer capacity so basically you know a chunk of every sale new pattern is gone right to them. we don't know the specifics of what will come out because the much we're gonna sell but based on our company based on sales based on what we've ordered its it'll be a substantial chunk of cash and i think sort of a commitment to that world into conservation level that we haven't We had previously been to that makes sense. Obviously you know we've been making whitetail deer actually since twenty fifteen um and white tells really almost always been our roots or certainly idaho. There are richer in western hunting. But you know frankly very soon we started bringing in. Actually i suppose i was the first eastern that first light hired And as we've grown pride in folks. They grew up whitetail hunting in north carolina. They grew up whitetail hunting wisconsin michigan etc. Ride main and so that's really become part of our dna and it's also reflected in like i said in our product offerings and so i think it was only natural to sort of bring that world into our sort of impact are the impact element of our business model and what that is is Largely looking at it like is our is our work with the national deer association and their work in regard to Managing white tails advocating for till hunters. their substantial field to four hundred recruiting program You know as well as educating around.
