"30 w. Y. Eah, said Mark calling late afternoon show. It's all right. Everything's happening too fast for people. Spring training the Brewers really starting this week, first games in a few days. No. But how many people could even name the brewer. Right? The Brewers starting light up. It's actually not that hard because it's last year's last year started let up with what exception. Kane is back. Remember, we still have him? You forgot all about it, didn't you? Yeah, he is back. Yeah, he's back. He's back. Well, that's a great question. I wasn't gonna talk about that. You Ryan Ryan Broad is nobody knows what's going to happen. Wide. Do you mean? Well, Brian, right, Brian. Broad is a He's a free agent, but he has that side with anyone. He has not retired, and no one knows what he's going to do now. Most people believe He's going to do. One of two things either retire. Or sign a contract with the Brewers. I don't think Ryan Braun wants to play anywhere else. Furthermore, I don't know that any other team People said. Well, what about the Dodgers? The Dodgers are loaded. The Dodgers don't really have a need. For a right handed hitter off the bench. Who's injury prone is loaded as they are. The Brewers did just side of free air. They made a small trade with afraid to get a free agent open from the for the Blue Jays today, which would indicate to me that they're wondering abroad. Is going to be here. But the Brewers have no outfield depth at all. And Ryan Broad certainly would be a very good pinch hitter and spot player off the bench. And if Ryan wants to continue to play out of reduced salary, he's a great bench player for this stage of his career, and he you know last year when nobody had baseball was hitting at all. He He had kind of a down year for him, Button up your and compared to most players he owed hit most players. On the team, so I think he has not made a decision. What I suspect Broad is going to do. Sit back and wait until Mayor Jude That side with somebody. Then once he has some idea that, you know, right now, the National Hockey League is having a mess with Colbert. I mean, they're canceling games right and left. And so why? The MBA, however, is playing almost all of their games. You saw college football. A lot of games were canceled in the NFL. The worst they did was move a game away by a few days or something. You're 71 team changed by date. That was about it, and he might make a decision. Then it could sign literally with anybody. But he is a free agent is contractors finally upend. So he's not a brewer and the Brewers don't have first dibs on him, but I just think that if he's going to continue to play, why not do it with Milwaukee as opposed to somewhere else, and the Brewers needs kind of match up with it, But as I said, I wonder how many people could name the Brewers? I say this, like making fun of people who couldn't do it. I wonder if I could do it. Garcia's and right can is probably going to be in center yell itches had left. Nobody goes to the third baseman is everybody thought it was gonna be Justin Turner. We're gonna be able to sign him from the Dodgers, but he chose to re sign with the Dodgers. RC is going to be a short We just picked up Kelton Walk was very good second baseman He'll play second, Uh, here here is going to be at first nervous is the catcher and that's your light up. The D. H is not back in the National League this year. Oh, it's only going to be used for any leaks to the National League is going to return. Um to the pictures batting and then the starters. Well, we have two starters for sure. Carbon burns in Brandon would rip and then a bunch of jobs that are up for grabs. In the bullpen. Would assume that Devin Williams is going to be the full time closer and less You know pictures. There's no guarantee you translated from one spot to another. If the Brewers top two pitchers pitch the way they did last year, and Williams, which is the way he does, the Brewers are contented to win the National League Central. But pitching is impossible as I found over the years to protect Well, look at carbon birds. His season in 2019 2019 was atrocious that be his e. R. A was over six and last year, he contended for this. If he had not gotten hurt in September, he might have won the Cy Young Award. Probably the best pitcher in the National League to the middle of September last year in the shortened season that they were in. So how do you predict that so That's the Brewers and it's going to take a while for people. I guess they get up to speed on that. We also have not heard from the Brewers as to what capacity they're going to open the year at, they say there's going to be fads. God. They haven't been take giving any real guidance at all this season ticket holders as to where we're going to sit or how many games you're gonna be able to go to or anything. Once the season starts, the Bucks are starting in dribs and drabs 250 tonight. But they hope to be on up to 1800 within a week end eventually get to 10% of the Are 20% of the arena, which would be a few 1000. Feds. Well, really. Miller Park is still on the run because the side and front as the American family feel, but they haven't taken on the Miller Park thing. You drove by it. You drove. Why were you driving by it today? Do you normally come? The snow is the other except there was way more snow on 43 than 41. But oh, you because you wanted to get off the back roads is unbelievable..

"It's pretty ridiculous. You can throw that idea and that concept out the way. So if you live in Cleveland, congratulations to you. I mean, you could think about that there might be cities that are worse. No Jacksonville. What is Jacksonville have to show for itself? Just the Jaguars. What? We're going to look at the success of Ah of Tony Boselli. I mean, even when the Jacksonville Jaguars looked like they had a little bit of hope the hope was snatched right from under them. Tom Coughlin. Give it and Tom Coughlin take it away. I mean, you've got players who want to run away from cities. And I don't know. Maybe Cleveland is on that list. Maybe Cincinnati is on that list. Carlos Dunlap. He said, Listen, I can't wait to get the hell up on out of here in Cincinnati. I never saw a professional player. Sweet out the fact that Yeah, I'm ready to leave my own home. Like somebody Please buy it. I'm ready to leave this place. So I think one thing we all got to do as a sports fan. Yeah, you could be a fan. You could be a fanatic. You Khun B. Emphatic you could stand up for your team. But the reality is you gotta understand where you fall in the packing order. Who your team is what they do the realities of it. Speaking of realities, the Atlanta Falcons They just knocked off the Carolina Panthers 25 to 17. Atlanta improves their record to two in six. The Panthers full 23 and five This is a matter of Kana knowing your role and no one who you are in your space. Someone called me last night and said, Hey, Atlanta, Great Sports City. It is toe watch. The gold to a game to go to an event so Holston event But Atlanta is also a great sports city If you want to have your heart broken If you want to go all the way to the end, if you want to go to a championship game and almost get there and blow it I asked the Bulldogs Ask the Falcons. Ask the Braves Atlanta is the city of almost but we all know almost doesn't count. Speaking of Cleveland, as I said, if if you're a Cleveland sports fan, As our last caller said. Be a realist. And being a realist in Cleveland is No. One at Cleveland. Unfortunately, because of the losing that goes on in the city and ate one of the best I'll say that much. Speaking of a city that might be the best that might be a winner this upcoming season, it may actually be Tampa. Odell Beckham Jr is out. Antonio Brown. He looks like he's going to be in and it looks like he's ready. We come back. We're going to talk about a B. You're listening to the Jr Sport re show here on CBS Sports Radio. It's time for a news flash. It's time for Joey Waller. Sports Flash Jr. Clemson quarterback Trevor Laurence. Testing positive for covert 19 the way has mild symptoms. "Well, about two hours, I suppose. Naina wait the first pit between the Brewers and Dodgers tonight. Brandon Water for Clayton Kershaw. You're starting pitchers interesting lineup for Craig Counsell. Ryan Broad's name. Not in that lineup. Still dealing with the back issue that look like he'll be available tonight and outside fancy could pinch hit if necessary. This is an unload the bag kind of day for the Milwaukee Brewers. You'll see Brandon Water off Craig Counsell say just moments ago. I guarantee you'll see Josh hater. At some point this game. You can't leave bullets in the chamber facing the Dodgers and the potential end of the season. Man will have the call of tonight's game alongside the Hall of Fame or Bob Bucher. It's our Hall of Famer. It's flavoring a man who lives in fairways when he's not calling baseball games, Jeff Hi, gray. I wish I lived in many fairways. You did, that's all I know. That's the That's the stuff on the side, right? Too tall stuff. Yeah, Yeah, the not the first cut that the second cut. Yes. Yeah, yeah, that's that's That's where I spent a lot of time. That's good. I I I am optimistic tonight, Jeff, I I admit I was I was not as optimistic last night, and it seemed like too many levers to try and pull. You know, I didn't expect the game to go how it did last night. I don't know how you could have predicted five walks from bread suitor, But when the series started, I kind of looked at game number two, and I said, Well, there, there's your big dog. That's that. There's where you need an all star performance from an All Star pitcher. The question is, can the runs Be enough to knock off the Dodgers cake in his four runs Gonna be enough in the Brewers get the four runs those questions I have. How do you see it? Yeah, I'm kind of with you. I thought last night If you could try steal one that that would be the one to try and steal on and then you've got brain a wonderful game number two to try and to try and lock it up. Now the Brewers airplane for their season and they've got the right guy on the hill. And you're right with the question marks of are there going to be able to score enough runs? I think if everybody Forecasted this thing. It's okay if you can get two or three runs. I think that might be enough against Clayton Kershaw and then Brandon Woodard couldn't take care of the rest. But Clayton Kershaw's been different Do this year is velocities up a little bit from from years past? He still throws that great cutter. He's got that unbelievable curveball. On that fastball is not just 89 90 anymore. Idiocies comeback for 92 93 when he needed it took on the Brewers get some runs today. That's the whole Christian colleges had some success against him in the past. But there's no Ryan Braun is you mentioned you still being with that back discomfort in the middle of his back, So you're going to clean up hitter in Ryan Healy. And maybe you could get Daniel Vogel back off the bench, and maybe he gets a big hit at some point, But this is a right handed lineup. The Brewers have Had some success with I mean, very similar constructed line up, and they put up 19 against the Detroit Tigers at one point in the middle of September, so if they can scratch a couple of runs across, I think Brandon witness does the rest and brewers are playing tomorrow. Is it strange that the first name I look for when it comes to a playoff lineup? Is Orlando Arcia? No, it's not because he's a really good postseason play. Er, how about this? I read this last night, and I thought I was going crazy that he is tied with Prince Fielder for the most postseason home runs. In Brewer's franchise history. I mean, thrice, totally different people. There's something about it the right way he had. Would he have free? I think home runs in the postseason and 2018 right Number one in Colorado. He had won against the Dodgers. I mean, the guy was lights out. And, of course, you look at the way this season. Unveiled and he was the leading hitter among regulars. So yeah, he becomes a mainstay in your lineup. And as we all predicted back in March, Ryan Healy is your designated hitter tonight hitting cleanup spots in an elimination game. Yeah, totally different. And again. This right handed lineup has had a little bit success against left handed pitching, and you hope that continues and maybe you can scratch couple out there. Listen, Clayton Kershaw's postseason record has has its blemishes and you hope today he goes out there and has a rough appearance. Brewers have been good against him. At Dodger Stadium. They have been so good against a Miller part, but you know, the weather is totally different. And in l A Today is it isn't in Milwaukee today. It feels like a football day in l A. It feels like the middle of summer. You should be going to the beach was 102 degrees. The last time I checked in Los Angeles right for batting practice. So maybe the balls carrying a little bit. Maybe some of these right hand hitters run into a couple of any of you scratch a few against Clayton Kershaw, but you write about Orlando RCT five spot today. He's been having a lot better at back here in 2020, and and maybe maybe the production comes out of the middle of the lineup today. That's the hope. I'm wonder if there's anything different from a philosophical standpoint without Craig manages this particular game. I just get the feeling that the run scoring environment it's different when you get into the playoffs. Against a guy like Clayton Kershaw, the offenses is really having a tough time, you know, just didn't find any level of consistency. Got your outbursts here and there, but I know that there's scored more than four runs in a couple of weeks here. It does. His philosophy changes. They're more. Let's get guys in motion bag stealing, hidden run. God forbid a sac bunt. I mean, who knows, right? Yeah, You'd like to think that if you're trying to create a little bit of offense, you're going to try and use different things. But he's been pretty hardheaded and not doing that kind of stuff. And if you look at the roster that aren't that many guys that you can Hit and run with it or try and put guys in motion. You don't have that that blazing speed the guy with the exception of Christian Yelich on DH. There's so much swinging miss in the lineup where you can't really put somebody in motion without the fear of getting a strike him out. Throw my double play or running yourself out of any Bruce did that a few times. Remember?.

I've tried to know exactly what you said. Yeah that's what I said. And then all those life lessons I can like blacked out a little bit but it was very brief because then I didn't know what else to say and a little. It was like warm up. Are you talk to say in. The my curse left does so then a yeah. I can conversation with an animal like an aunt. I talked to my plants in my house and I can't talk to Patrick Dempsey as I just kind of mandate off because like he was on the opposite team so I went to I went to my dugout and then I was like Gosh if only he was on my dugout. 'cause I was like really hang out with everybody and Mike. I really became friends with everybody that was like in my dugout. But he was in the other one so then. The game's over. He wins rookie of the year. Her and I was like one rookie of the year. That was the thing. Yeah offer the Best Q.. And so he's like holding his award and we're all leaving together and leaving these stairs the stairs were like like there's a breathy like by the time you get top of them you're like dying and and I'm walking up the stairs and he's literally right next to me and I just you know. The best part is is that Chris was at the top of the Sarah's waiting for me because there was like leaving all all the cars are up there so he was waiting so he saw me walking with Hatrick Dempsey and he in a clutch move move took pictures of walking because amazing. 'cause it was like the kind of event where it's just like you don't take photos of people it was just so famous savings and it's such a good cause and just like the vibe is so chill and like no you know what I mean. It's a weird connection but a lot of the brewers who played a lot of them are from southern California and allow that we're very affected by this wildfires. And that's that's where they started this Christian Yelich and Ryan broad and Mike Doctors who's now with Cincinnati but so yeah a lot of my heroes. Were at this game and honestly they were so nice. I know wrapping one hour one hour so I moved served this move back into my place last night but all my succeeding came this morning. They were delivering all my stuff. That's been in storage. phoebe had diarrhea all last night. So I literally think I slept an hour because every thirty minutes she was like crying. And it's really really sad. I feel horrible for her. She's really been through it. I guess I haven't haven't talked about it because it happened after the podcast last week but the chocolate bar admitted and the hospital is really traumatic. I cried thought I was never gonna see her again and so then now she has diarrhea so phoebe really been testing chocolate. No I think I know I don't know but it's really gross. And she doesn't stand still. She moved. So it's like while she was going to but jock chocolates really bad for dogs. Yeah that was bad but she she survived that and then we moved onto something so yeah so that what happened and so all the people are like at my house moving my furniture and right now so a little stressed about that but here we are got priorities and I five zero week. Jobs are Kinda hard to get in there. But let's say you must have to come at nine thirty so my day was planned accordingly. They just messed up. Okay not saying that. I'm never late actually pretty standard. Yeah Yeah Yeah so so anyway. You had a big day we start. We have to start with the obvious. You guys where do you go from here like where. Where do I go from this point on? It would have to to me. It would have to be Ellen pompeo or Jennifer Aniston. That's about it or beyond say maybe I don't. I don't know and he could not be cooler and Nicer and more humble follower. I met Patrick Dempsey yesterday Aka MC dreamy and the way that it happen though was so legit like because it was so much better than me going out to him and being like high emory huge fan. So we're at this Charity Softball game and it's California's wrong and it's it's an amazing 'cause it's it's for all like the California tragedies and maybe say support. They give money to people that are from fires last year. So how'd how did you get involved in the first place they do this celebrity softball game. This is only the second one that they did so washer. The first one obviously well and they sell tickets at pepperdine and all all the money raised goes to the charity and so they have. I don't even know how I got asked to be honest because this is like Adam Sandler and like tiffany haddish like and then there's like me i. Yeah but I guess the invite came to Ryan and me and obviously I don't know if they want us to come together respondents at Ryan can't go because he's Newark. Do you still want Tanya. And they said Yeah so count me in And so were there. And everybody's warming up and I went with Chris Harrison and I look look over at Christmas. Go Patrick Dempsey is here and he goes. Oh I know him introduce. You think he's right behind you. So he literally turns around and he he is the coolest like Christmas. Like hey like hey i. Don't call them pattern. Patrick like have you ever met Tanya. She's on the morning show at kiss with Ryan and He's like no nice to meet you and I was like to be nice and then Chris goes and she's also a host of a podcast called scrubbing in. It's all about grey's anatomy. He's an award-winning saying he did say award winning. I literally it was like uh-huh oh really. That's fantastic. What are you guys talk about? I was like well I was like oh I love her grades. I don't think it's a lot about like our a personalized to and how it all relates back to grey's anatomy you know and he's like yeah. It's not like I just want somebody to propose to me. Like you propose to Meredith. The no I didn't I said that in my head I can then. I didn't tell him that so. What are you GonNa do it? That a war beloved I love to have a mic on you I in my head I was like I want to fall back. You know I need a medic or like some I I mean that didn't go through my head when I was like be Kuan Cool. Yeah I'm glad you didn't do that. You're the first website your phone. Yeah so I didn't WanNa take a picture with him but the fact that I have those priceless looks like y'all are just like I don't even know if you were talking to each other but it looks like yeller like just casually just buddies walking the ball game. Yeah just after the ball game walking walking up with our bags at I was just really just never been happier and I was like Chris. Thank you so much. That was really cool. I guess they're like good friends because they worked for for. ABC for so long together. Oh yeah he's known him forever and I was like God. He's really nice and really cool. Was He small. No really not to me. Okay my okay you met my Katie there. Yes sent me the picture of Y'all I'm like yeah I know but she said he he looked small. He's five ten but she said he looked very ski. Not Show like he yeah he did not look that to me. He looked every bit. The May Dreamy. I Have Marie three that it was really magical so Katie texts me and said are you at this charity Gate Malibu and I I was like no I was like what is it and then I was like I think Tony is there. I think I just saw. She posted a photo. So go to look at your profile. And then I click on the California strong. And it's like saying who's all going going to be there and I see Patrick Dempsey and I'm like Oh my God I text you and I'm like all cow Jack Dempsey and just met him. I blacked out. I don't I know who I was but it wasn't on. Yeah somebody myself. It's weird when you meet people on a certain level that like you think. Hey you're going to be a certain way and all of a sudden it's like the moment comedy and even freaked out about the podcast. The you know what I mean like. He wasn't even like oh I think if you go up to a grocery is restore and say I do a podcast about grace anatomy. He's like where's my driver. Can I get out of here but at a situation like that you are somebody. Yeah Yeah you are given status. It's just being on the roster at that place. "Yelich was the brewers was valuable player this year. if you had a list second most valuable player who would you choose. that's a good question isn't it. pauses got says Ryan broad that that's a fair answer. got to be another pitcher well hater who had thirty six saves it carried the team for much of the year. because it didn't seem like as good as last year because you think about the end of the season the brewers led Major League Baseball that one run victories add. a lot of those one run victories were one because gas heater came into the game and didn't give up and he rides not just what he was used as a closer but in the middle of the game he had a poor second not poor but a subpar for his standards second half of the season but. I'd say maybe have you might wanna say Ryan Braun I think it's certainly fair to say branded would rest I think some people might say Jordan Lyle's who carried the starting pitching staff during their unbelievable run from late August in in the September some people might even argue yet yes money ground all who was a very good catcher in while his batting average was a great resilient home runs they were fair fair number of contributions from a lot of breweries had pretty good seasons ad the other guy the people on talk about a lot who had really afford poor first two months of the year and then was just unbelievable really from July Abbas al Alex Claudio who was a spectacular pick up so I pronounce myself normally I'm not somebody okay you got to well Kerr giving you lots of that's a good season I very satisfied with this year's were season even coming off of a season in which they did better last year and I don't think you know the cycle in most sports is. good and then you're not good you have to go kill yourself to be terrible so you could be good again the brewers I think are still in the cycle in which the record candor to win the whole thing is you will forward into the next season. yeah I heard that that they literally what you say they'll be limped their way out of the season there limping last night great I mean. yet or do you really want to play the Dodgers given that kind of a backdrop I mean I my answer is yes you do we ought to go as far as you can but. it's not like you know where the Packers got knocked out by the giants the year that the giants won the Super Bowl the following week for you literally feel a championship was taken or even last year with the brewers who. we're really close to winning a World Series at this year's box team had who had Toronto nailed down in Toronto went on to win the championship the Bucks are very that was a bitter loss in disappointment at the end of the season and this just feels a little bit differently to be let's move forward. unlike others in the media who never credit anyone else's work I want to make it clear here that. ninety eight percent of what you are hearing from beyond the segment is my compilation and putting together offer reporting done by others and I will try to credit the sources as I go through. Eric Peterson who is the. remarkably a lot of people don't know who he is and that's the way he wants it. he is I think without a doubt the most powerful lobbyists to the state of Wisconsin he might be the most powerful person right now in the state of Wisconsin. Eric Peterson is a contract lobbyists that means he doesn't work for just one client he has a number of clients. he has extreme influence with both parties involved in state government. whenever you have that kind of power concentrated in an unelected individual who's just out their work in the process. you need to keep an eye on him and everybody who knows anything about state government knows about Eric..

"Are you ready. I'm I've been ready. You didn't sound totally ready there well. Here's the thing about twitter questions. I don't look at at the twitter questions because I don't want I want to be I want you to throw them at me and I want to be able to catch him. You know what I mean. It's however however you do your work. Best is fine by yeah. I mean yes here we go. I'd love to hear your take on the umpire calling a strike on Charleen Palmerston after getting hit in the face with the pitch love the podcast Guy Yeah. That's what I'm saying. It's like you know I would be ripped shit. If it was my guy but unbiased third party here you kinda. Just gotTa go. Hey them's is the rules. If if you you know those it sucks. You hope that he's okay. You don't root for injury. You don't get any satisfaction out of a guy getting hurt but if you can get a strike bearing yet and out there you gotta you gotTa take every every bit that you can get especially when you know you're you're angling for for some playoff action. Can y'all do a draft at the end of the year for just like this just like this year like the all time draft but just just for this season current players the answer to that absolutely yes. That's it seems like a great idea for the offseason. Yeah Yeah I'd love to I would love to. Let's find like someone else besides the grounds crew to vote on that you just want the alienate our fan base. That's not really nice. Maybe maybe maybe it's something like the All Star game where it's like. The fan voting counts just not all the way the fan voting voting is one thing and then I make a decision looking back at the start of the year. What would you say say. Is your worst. Take something that you were excited for. At the start of the year that went to Shit in the end. you know nothing really comes to mind for me couldn't have been the pirates starting rotation could really yeah so. I'll probably probably just go ahead and sit this one out. I'll let you guys chop that up. I'M NOT GONNA be raising it. That's for Buchan. Oh Dallas I believe that I picked Paul Goldschmidt as the NL MVP so that's that's my answer thoroughly mediocre season season. I think I picked a thing. I picked Trevor Bauer as the American League cy young and he's not in the American league anymore that I failed on a lot of levels actually yeah. It was bad did I. I didn't yeah I think that's probably my worst one. Yeah I mean pitcher with a era closer to five then three is probably a good answer to that question yeah bad any final thoughts final thoughts. I was watching. MLB Network last night and they had the cardinals knows game on and out of nowhere. Jim Edmonds just as lobbing bombs at Ryan Ron and we we have the audio clippings play for your now. It was freezing freezing for sale is on the SOFA bundled up and I said to one one of our medical people. I go well. I guess he's not GonNa go to they'll. He's got a fever. He's got the chills and he's willing to play may not take batting practice but but that's the way we were taught will play. Some people just have that in them and some people don't I said boy. That's I said that says is a lot bottom any this person semi Dan. You have no idea how much this guy wants to play. We can't get him out of the lineup. Appreciate there's a guy in Milwaukee. That has been a really good player for a long time. Not GonNA mention names you can guess is does not WanNa play all the time and it's frustrating thanks to watch and he's a really good player. You want him in the lineup every day but if there was a twinge not interested that Wanna get hurt anymore. Don't I WANNA go when he's not full throttle and it's just like we were taught when I was coming up your name and that lineup makes our team better. Even if you're not healthy the pitcher thinks your and that's the key I those weird because it seems I mean the cardinals are not even playing the brewers so I it's just yeah. It just seemed like out of nowhere. He just wanted to get that dig in on on Ryan Braun and his broadcast partner tried to steer the conversation away and in Jimmy Baseball's just like no. We're finished his dig get Ryan Braun and we can move on after that yeah. I don't know they were teammates. buell forget. Jim Edmonds last stop was with the brewers and then I think he got traded to the cubs midway through two thousand ten which was his last season eight forty season and he was teammates with Ron on which was the year before Braun won the National League. Mvp Award. I don't know it feels like something must have happened between those two behind closed doors for him to hold back type of resentment. Eh and I wonder if bronze Grand Slam the day before might have sparked some some extra fuck that guy in Jim Edmonds to the next day. Eh Be like Oh yeah by the way you know who sucks you know who never wants to play in when they're hurt. Ryan's broads xactly where it came from jared. That's exactly exactly where that kind of stuff comes from and as as we talked about him kind of being older on his way out of the game at that point in time he's got a a younger. Ryan Braun doing what he's doing and there were probably days where edmonds his name by debate in the lineup because Braun was taken a day. Hey Jude veterans is thinking you know who the fuck I am. You know what I've done in this game and I'm the one who's going to wear this night. Game Day agee turnaround here because because the youngster Braun does it feel because his back book and hurts me. I'm talking forty back hurts to. You've got to believe that that's probably where some of that game it would make sense. I mean definitely definitely felt like some some deep resentment that he was holding onto for some time to just rent bring that up in a in a fucking cardinals who were they playing the nationals last night the nets yeah. I don't know I just found that very interesting like I. I'm not used to hearing that on a broadcast. I I wasn't even in like one hundred percent paying attention to the game. I was like eating pizza. I was looking at my phone. I had the game on and then that caught my attention. I was like he fucking. Is this really happening like. He's really doing this yeah he was. He was kind of kind of going in there getting after five final thoughts are. Oh my God he seuss. Lazardo is really really really good. We were so close. US close as close as you can be really yeah. I mean there is a I don't know maybe like in close to two hours worth of audio before this snappin them all right well until Thursday. That's for Thursday's episode talking a lot and nationally baseball. It's going to be great. We will stay clear out of the West don't you. Mike Trout's injured no reason to go back there yup. Alex pragman feels like we don't have much. I feel like we don't have much talk about anymore. We we we touched on. Brag touched on trout and that is all there is maybe we'll hit on in Willie Calhoun. 's solid season next week Jay you do have actually you do have a little nugget cooked up and if you could be so kind can can you maybe dropped that. Will you know because we did. We almost made it out of here. We are faded out of here and I had to go and Lazardo it up but so nice little nugget. "News talk seven thirty WINS at Mark Belling, late afternoon show going to give you the spring ring. Cash-conscious texted word in just a couple of moments. I will be putting picks on the Preakness stakes up on Belling dot com. Either late tomorrow or sometime Friday morning, depending on when I get around to it. I will not be on the air tomorrow or Friday at some followup medical stuff that I'm doing it cetera et cetera et cetera donating panic when they don't hear me because I get the station management. Complains that when I'm not on the air right now. People think I'm dead, and they call up and ask wears markers, Mark. Whereas mark. Doing this set of the other thing is I work through all these hiccups and other stuff that's going on so worry about anyway, we will try to get around to getting the picks for the Preakness up Belling dot com. They did draw the field today there's thirteen horses. The Kentucky Derby winner is not enor- is the horse. That was disqualified from the Kentucky Derby, it's actually a very interesting race. And. When they got some optimism that I'm going to have figured out. So we'll put those picks up there. Don't bother anybody in Aspen that they're going to be there when they're there. So just keep checking the website. My guess is that maybe late tomorrow Friday morning for certain. The brewers are in Philadelphia as you probably know, although most people are focusing on the bucks right now they did win last night. It will be forever remembered, obviously as the first major league game of casting. How ura I wonder how many people? Who watched the game? Will remember the first time he came to the plate? Remember the first game that I still remember Ryan bronze I Gabe. But Ryan Braun came up with such incredible hype. There were people who didn't know who he was. But there was so much hype. When he got up I think Brian was like the third or fourth player picked in the drafted. He was just he at the cover off the ball the whole time that he was in the minor leagues. It was just knowing that it was going to be a big deal Robin yount situation was a little different because he spent only the one year in the minor leagues. He was in class. A and the next thing, you know, he was in the major leagues where they hadn't playing at the age of eighteen. So it wasn't noticed as much with his first game. Because he just kinda was here. All of a sudden out of the middle of nowhere. Do you watch? The you're a game. You did not. So you won't be able to say, well, you probably will you'll probably ten years from now, you're gonna crab they claim that you did watch the game and see it. He will go down as one of the many players. Gotta hit first time up to hit said I suspect he's never going to go back down. If he goes back down. It'll be like one of those injury rehab things or something. The brewers have to decide what they're going to do with Travis Shaw, and they put them on the DL as trying to figure out what's going on with him. There are a lot of players though. That were pretty good hitters two and three years ago that are falling off the planet. If you've been watching that brewery affiliate series. You may have noticed that Bryce Harper who was signed to one of the biggest contracts in the history of Americans sports is being booed every time he comes to the plate in Philadelphia. Philadelphia's a tough city to begin with. But we're only one third of the way into the season. It's not even anywhere near Memorial Day. And they've turned on the guy very very aggressively. The thing with these big contracts and sports is that unless you're in a huge market, like New York, Los Angeles. You can't afford to make a mistake here. Now, I think I've got a little bit of credibility because I last year said I wouldn't sign Bryce Harper for that kind of money. I wouldn't say Manny Machado for that kind of money. They didn't strike me as being all that good or at least not that much better than somebody else. You've put in place. Machado's problem is attitude. I think he's going to be a long term problem in San Diego. And Bryce Harper's problem is is that he didn't have a very good year last year. Who's twenty six years old and may already have peaked? He's got a lot of power. But that's all he does last year. He had about two forty. How do you give this kind of money to a player who gets to forty admittedly? He hits a lot of home runs this year. He's got a few home runs, but he's essentially striking out all the time. Baseball has seen a significant change in two areas. Just in the last five years, and it is affected guys who hit the ball hard. The first is the shift. Every team puts a shift on now, which they position the defense where the players head. It's remarkable. It took this log the baseball Cameron and the eighteen seventies. When the first major league games are played it took forever for baseball to figure out how stupid it is. They have to the fence stand of the same place. Every you just look back to help the game. Was we were kids where they moronic. Why didn't the dawn on them that they should have the defense in a different position for every header football figure that out a long time ago. Even basketball sorta figured it out. We'll baseball they put shifts on end over shift to one side, sometimes you shift the infield the outfield, depending on how who's on base at Sarah. But a lot of players that we've certainly seen the impact on Ryan bronze career they're hitting the ball hard off. And when they're up at they hit it right at somebody. Because the guys are now standing with the player's head for our player like Bryce Harper to adjust to that. And try to slap the ball to the opposite field. You're taking away his greatest strength, which is that when he swings really. Hard every now, and then he hits it out of the ballpark. The other thing that's happened is the baseball has become a game in which teams have understood figured out that a strike out is the best kind of out and hitters figured out that a home run is the best kind of hit. Everyone is swinging for the fences and teams are signing players who had home runs a home run is way more important than a single every time you hit a home run someone scores. Likewise. With regard to the strike outs. Where pitching staffs have been pushed toward strikeout strikeout. Strikeout. Strikeout. Strikeout. You've seen teams being willing to give up a few more walks. If it means you can get additional strikeouts. And you have all these power pitchers. When a ball is not put in play. It can't do much damage. So the strikeout has been encouraged on pitching staffs. See you end up with a guy like Bryce Harper. Who's a big time power hitter? He's going to become an all or nothing guy. He'll still had a lot of home runs. Otherwise, he's a great big dud? Kravis Shaw might be going to that with the brewers as well in which the game has just changed on some of these players. The brewers don't have a lot of money tied up in Travis Shaw. So from the perspective of the brewers Travis Devon doesn't ever get it back. It's not going to be that big of a deal for the brewers. But for a team like Philadelphia to give this kind of money to a guy like Harper. Now, maybe it's a blip. But remember this started last year? He's now in the middle of a second year of a long term slob in which he's doing a lot of swinging and a lot of missing occasionally when he takes that big swing in the ball, actually hits the bad. It's still goes out of the park. You've seen. How Ryan bronze tried to adapt his game a little bit. And maybe brought it back a little bit. He's quite a few home runs this year at his batting average is up a little bit from where it was before. But they're just so many of these guys that in the past. They were so good at hitting the balls fielders weren't because the defense was positioned terribly them. I mean, I go to these games. I sit behind the dugout Subaru and. Goofball third base coach cedar every hitter that's coming up waving this move this guy over here. This guy over to there for marketable how long it took teams to figure that out we stand shortstop between third base and second base. Why what if the player usually hits between first and second why do you have to infielders over here? Why why? Some things you just see people. You wonder how it took so long to figure that out? Why did it take that long to figure it out? I think part of it is that computers now it in the past. They only kind of had an idea where guys normally hit it. No, you know, the tendencies for every pitch with two strikes. He's likely to hit it over here when one striker so they they move in from pitch the pitch I used to joke because every now, and then I sit in the stadium club when you're up there and left you can see the areas of the grass that are dead. When you're way up there. There's a patch and left field. That's been dead is long as Miller park was built because Ryan broad never moved from in that said in left field. Well, now the patches are offer because even brought as being forced to move off their comforts on patch. Go over here go over here. But then moved at the other thing, but pets everybody has stood at the same depth same exact positioning. And of course, it's had an impact on the game. And the one thing that the shift can't stop is a home run. So everybody's swings for the fences and a guy like Harper who swinging even more so for the fences. His average is going to go down. Well is a guy who gets to twenty five with forty home. Runs. We're thirty five million dollars a year. Would you could put it in somebody else who to sixty with twenty five home runs? There's a difference there. But it's not it's not a twenty five or thirty million dollar salary difference. Well, you know, I read about that. There's more outfielders that have gotten good at pulling the ball back in some of that is a function that a lot of the stadium walls are not as high as they used to be like Miller park is at the exact height where you can jump up and go grab it. But that's a skill that outfielders now have made when a guy would jump up and pull one back in that was a rare occurrence I mean between Braxton and Kane and the viewers it's when they had Braxton last year, and now Cain also the pull them back in all the time. But I mean, the defense again is just set up to try to stop those things I think defense has played deeper than they used to in the outfield. Stop the home run. We'll concede a single we can live with a single. We can't we can't live with a home run..

"Box that they don't have another gear. That in the NBA teams, especially veteran teams step. They're play up a notch in the playoffs. It's why people who like basketball love the NBA playoffs. The level of play is just so unbelievably intensive so good. But that the bucks had played so hard we're leaving at such a high level during the regular season chasing, the sixty wins at everything I just wondered if there is another gear. How does Janas for example, elevate his game beyond what it was maybe his game was at its peak? Whereas clearly a team like Boston was not playing at its peak. This is a team that had so many different losing streaks. Despite incredible talent they've had a few injuries. But you look at the talent on the Boston Celtics. And I'll just be honest with you. I think it's better than the talent of the bucks. They however did not play really as a team or play that hard all year. That's the thing that differentiates between the two the bucks have Jaanus. Some pretty good players like Chris Middleton and Eric Bledsoe. If we can get Niko miratec back in full swing brook Lopez's these considerable players, but Boston is borderline superstars littered on their roster L Horford, Kyrie Irving. Keta spectacular player. I can name what four others that are really really good. And they have a good coach. So the concern here was whether or not the bucks had an ability to take their game to a higher level beyond the regular season. Clearly Boston had the ability to get to a higher level because they just weren't that good during the season Boston played spectacularly well. And they came up with a way to stop Janas now everything in life. I was talking earlier in the program about creating special treatment for what group it ends up offending someone else. The same thing is true of trying to stop a superstar player in the NBA or for that matter anything in any sport in order to stop Jaanus. They clogged the middle and the double team every time. He got the ball down. Their math is pretty simple of two guys are guarding one guy. That means somebody else on the other team is open. What did not happen is the, but nobody else in the buck stepped up to deal with the fact that they were overplaying honest in between Janas can't shoot from the outside with a lick. His whole game is to try to drive to the basket. Boston would not let. Do this because they have pretty good inside players who you're driving against guys like a Horford who were just smacking the ball right back in his face the way to correct against that is for other players to hit outside shots. Janice is trying to drive if they're gonna clog the middle. That means Chris Middleton should be open. Eric Bledsoe should be open. Nicol merited should be open. Your son silver should be open. And you gotta knock down those shots to make them pay the price for clogging and trying to overplay one guy that did not happen with the box. And if it doesn't happen in game two the bucks are going to be swept they've got to be able to make adjustments and recover from this which they can do. I don't talk about this much on the program because it's a little bit too inside for the general audience, but I have said and I talked to friends about this series game. One is the game that favorites are always the most vulnerable, and you even saw it in the first round of the playoffs where Boston lost its game. One to do. They play Brooklyn. And Toronto lost its game. One to Orlando might have those turned around but Boston and Toronto to excellent teams. They both lost their first game in game one of the plus Philadelphia lost their their game one to a couple of those teams mixed up. But several of those teams that went on to win their series four games to one actually loss game one. It's the one where you can be really really vulnerable that great Laker team of a few years ago that shack and Coby played Philadelphia. Seventy Sixers Iverson in the finals they lost game. What and proceeded to win the next four in annihilation. So gave what is the one where you can be flat footed, and you can recover from this. So we'll see if they do it. Does put incredible pressure on the bucks for Tuesday night. If the bucks do not win the game tomorrow night, I fear. They will be swept that they'll go into Boston in their confidence will simply have been shattered. And that's the end of it if they win tomorrow night. Okay. We're set up for a spectacular series here on out. So the answer is it might mean that they're done or. It might not. But clearly the key for the bucks is they have other players step up. If Boston is going to put three men guarding Janas every time he gets anywhere within fifteen feet of the basketball. That's a strategy that should that will is only going to work for Boston. If nobody else in the bucks does anything and to win sixty games, you'd think that there'd be other players on the team who can't step up and do something they do in this series. Really miss Malcolm brogden. They did not miss him against Detroit because the -troit's not that good. But they do miss him. Now brogden is their best three point shooter. And somebody who was able to stretch the defense, and if left alone outside when you're clogging Janas with kill you from the outside. But I don't think brogden is going to be back for this series. And maybe not even for the season. So there that's my analysis on that. We don't have any word yet. I believe on Christian yelich. This is not good. The reason it's not good is because of a four letter word that starts with the ends of the K back injuries. Just don't get better. What you have. Have to do is play through them right broad Santa back injury for ten years, and it's negative forever. And anybody has had back issues, and I've had only small minor ones. They just don't get better. They restrict what you can do. They give tremendous pain. There's no good way of dealing with it. You could try chiropractors you should try just sat in the other thing. But in the case of yellow, it's very easy to see why has back issues say with Ryan broad takes that unbelievably monstrous swing that torque has in this waste. That's gotta be bad on your back. You know in broad when he was in his heyday had that big monster long bath that looked like it was eight feet long. And he took that big swing and it just puts pressure on the lower back. So I'm hoping yelich is not going to the D L. And I'm hoping that it's not going to negative and cut in to his play. But I suspect what it's going to be the sort of thing we've dealt with with Braun all these years that rest take a few days off, maybe a couple of weeks off comeback try to manage it or simply play through it or maybe it's just a tweak that will get better. He apparently does have a history back when he was in Miami of having some problems with the back, but without Christian yelich brewers seemed to be to be nowhere without yellowish. Wouldn't you agree with that? Boston, you know within their little bit above five hundred either. I what they are. I mean without him. I mean. You know, it's going to happen to Belgium's gonna pop Homer in the next two days. So yellow joint even win the monthly who that is the mazing Christian yelich will not be the player of the month given the month that he's had because well if I voted I had after Bellenger too because Christie Bellinger has had one of the best months at anybody's had in the last seventy five years or Christian Bellinger, Cody Bellinger, two letters away from a great last name that Bill injure guy. Five. Oh, five news talk eleven.

"People talk about predicting a sports season before it starts. One of the things that you have to do in the day and age that we're in in all sports other than football is understand that we are now in an era in which teams dump if they're going nowhere in the middle of the season. And other teams sacrifice their futures. If they have a chance to win now. Meaning the roster that you have at the beginning of the season is very likely not going to be the roster. You're going to have at the end of the season. Look at the players that the brewers were putting out of the field and keep once they were in the play offs down the penance stretch and the players who started the season almost half of them were not there originally, you make move after move after move after move if you're in it on the other hand, if it doesn't look like you're going to be in it, you dump just about everybody to try to rebuild for next year and the year after that. For example, if the brewers do not get off to a good start this season. And let's suppose there eleven games out in July. I think just about everybody with an expiring contract will be God. They just signed. Yes. Money Granville to a one year contract. It's a catcher. Well, he'll be traded. Mike was stock. It's the second baseman. He's going to be traded. They'll try to certainly try to unload Ryan broad. I would think anybody that's over the age of twenty eight that would be on the team would likely to be traded given that if the brewers are going nowhere this year. They would say look our farm system is depleted time to rebuild it now on the contrary basis if the brewers are ended again, they're gonna size up what positions they have of need and get rid of whatever as left in their farm system, which is pretty depleted as it is in an attempt to win now side and pick up whatever it is that you can at the beginning of last year who would have thought that might was stockists. It'd be on the brewers team down the stretch or some of the other editions that came in. So it makes it harder to assess the team at the beginning of the season because you don't know what they're going to be at the end of the year safe to say this though, if you're good in the first half, you're going to try to be better in the second half. And if you're bad in the first half, you may well tank. So all of that being said, what does everybody always say when they start a sports season. They always say I'm cautiously optimistic. Did they always use that term don't they? I am cautiously pessimistic. I did not have a good feeling about this year's brewer team. I think that the chances of regression are very big I talked all last year. But I had the sense that last year two thousand eighteen was the brewers year everything that could possibly go right with go. Right. They had balls that were bouncing off a fielder's gloves into the stands. I mean, we I swear the center fielders jumped over the fence four or five times to bring game winning home runs back into the game. Every every ball that could bounce right? Did every break. Go. Right. Get it was again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and they also had a number of players who had seasons way better than anything that they had done before. It is a tremendous leap of faith to assume that those will be replicated is the hey, sue Segler 2018 going to be the Haysom sag will are plenty nineteen. Well, maybe but assuming that the answer is yes is a reach Christian yelich had one of the best second half of any baseball. Player since Joe DiMaggio. How is sixty five seventy years ago is he going to replicate that and be at that level? Again, you're asking for a lot to say that you're expecting him to be thirty five batting average points better than anybody else in baseball. So I just look at a lot of guys who had really really good years last year. And I know that it's just you're asking a lot to expect them to replicate. Because I think the brewers in the off season did virtually nothing to improve their team nothing. Now, a caveat to that because I try to be fair and analyze and analyzing these things. Baseball teams anymore. Don't make big moves in the offseason. They make them in the middle of the season. The brewers big moves the last several years are always midseason type moves teams are sick and tired of overpaying for free agents. The kind of contract that Bryce Harper. Got in the Kennedy contract that Manny Machado God destroy teams and players like that almost never live up to that kind of money and the brewers are not going to go out there and Shays those types of players. So while they didn't do much to improve their team. It's not like a lot of teams really signed a lot of free agents are big time trades is well the problem. The brewers have as they once again, maybe in the best division and all a baseball Saint Louis has gotten better. The cubs are still the cubs who stepped back a bit last year and that was still enough to get them into a tie-breaker into the brewers in the brewers division. Pittsburgh is hard team for me to read Cincinnati is in unusual. They run franchise, but they did try to add their team. So the brewers have. To be better than they were last year and last year was year in which all of the brakes went for them. The only significant edition that I see to the team is at the position of catcher, and whether or not grand ole is here for the long haul or not meeting even the full season. I don't really know. But my big problem with the brewers is this I think the manager Craig consulate general manager, David Stearns are incredibly creative. And they've changed baseball. They have been on the cutting edge of baseball in the same way that Golden State six years ago was on the cutting edge basketball, Golden State bene-, this concept of you'd much rather shoot a bad three than a good too. Because three counts more than two Steph curry said shooting from twelve feet behind the three point line because an open shots from a long way away is easier to make that I haven't guarded shot close into the basket and everybody in the NBA has followed that you watch the bucks game last set against Houston. Everybody is throwing up three's right and left. That's what the game. Now is the brewers have been at the cutting edge. Edge of two things position this baseball. That's why pooping Mike is the second basis. No big deal. He's going to be standing out in the outfield. Half the time the way they put up there around to different position for every player. I mean, third baseman don't stand your third base. Second basement. Don't stand your second base shortstop could be doggone near anywhere. They moved the leftfielder in the right field or around depending on whether or not a left. You're right handed hitter is up the brewers moving guys around all over the place. That's the first revolution that they've done. The second thing that they're on the cutting edge of it just dumping this notion of starting pitchers. They Tampa Bay have done this the strength of the team. Last year was the bullpen. Unfortunately, the brewers bullpen has been gutted. It's god. Corey can able maybe out for the season. And two of the key guys in the bullpen. Last year. Are now starters corporate brands and branded Woodruff who were spectacular in the second half of the year getting two and three innings here. And there in the bullpen the way council brilliant, they managed the team a starter for four innings bringing hater for two would refer to et cetera. Corbin burns for two will those guys are now starters, and you're counting on them to be starting pitchers. Meaning they're not in. What was the team strength last year the bullpen? And then finally the starting rotation every single thing I've read from baseball indicates that of the five teams in the National League central the brewers have the worst starting rotation. That's unfair. It's not the worst. It is the least proven the brewers starting rotation. This year is going to be euless juicy juicy and who you're expecting to have replicate the best season of his career when she had last year and after that. Freddie Peralta, Zach Davies Brandon Woodruff in Corbin birds. Davies is the only proven starter there. And he usually stinks. The first half of the year can Corbin burns can Freddie Peralta. Can Brandon Woodruff becomes spectacular Saturdays? They have tremendous upside. But. That doesn't mean they're going to achieve it. If they don't achieve it in their starting rotation is poor. They're backed up by bullpen that has Josh hater. And almost nothing else. Jeremy Jefferson, I think he's fastballs up to ninety two. Now, it was eighty three in early March last year, it was ninety eight so. I have faith the council and Stearns will make adjustments as they go along. But sizing up the roster here I see a team that did nothing to improve itself that got a devastating injury. And the loss of Corey can given how they use their bullpen and is counting a lot of players who had spectacular years to replicate them. I just don't know who on the brewer team as the surprise player who comes out and is way better than last year. Because so many of them last year had that breakout ear, so my prediction this year for the brewers is that they will be I'm gonna hopefully be wrong in this and hope they adjust as the season goes along. But remembering that you play so many games in your own division the month of April all they do is play that a vision. Meaning that's a lot of tough games. I will predict that the brewers this year. Go eighty two and eighty Paul is way off on that. He is how many are you predicting? Ninety. I cool you down you wanted to say like ninety six which is what they won last year. Didn't you? I talked to off the job. Anyway, we'll we'll all see. So the brewers opened their season tomorrow, six twenty two news talk eleven thirty w..

My idea would high designated hitter for the starting pitcher. Long as your starters out there. You gotta t h. Four forced starting pitchers the goal longer in games. Like the way it should be not bringing in one hundred hundred open. St Louis your starter. You lose your e h. In both leagues. What do you wanna see this or just in the national? It's they're fighting get it in the American the national, and this is my kind of half halfway of each you. Keep the end of the game the managers or they have to put in players taken move around which is the good side of the National League. Which you don't have the American. It's kind of interesting. The end of each games up to the managers and not just making out of a lineup. Thanks for the phone call Jim that initially is kind of interesting. You know, you've got a D H for your starting pitcher starting pitcher goes out. You lose your D H, and that it's up to the managers to sort of strategize their way throughout the rest of the game. And maybe just maybe by extension. Would force them to leave a starting pitcher in for a little bit longer. Or in the case of the brewers. I mean, they've got about pitchers who can hit. Apparently, it's an interesting idea. Historically, speaking. I I would say when we've talked about the designated hitter on this program. People have by and large bed against the idea of the National League adopting the designated hitter. It seems like if you are I can maybe on the younger side here in baseball. You're. Kind of thinking the D H lead to more offense, more entertainment. The older school variety. This is just kind of how it's done. You'd never liked the age to begin with leave it out of the National League. And let it be more of a strategic decision on how to manipulate the roster and get guys all over the place. I don't love the D H. I I guess I'm kind of neutral on it. And. And what would it really do? Would it affect the way that I watch a brewers game? Would it affect the way that I enjoy a brewers game? I don't think so. Howard zinn Milwaukee joining us right Howard. You're on WTMJ. Hi, good evening. I say, unfortunately, regretfully, yes. On the universal D H I say Jimmy Nelson in the cost of Kitching. Yes. On the time clock. She can't get a ball off your and in twenty seconds. Get it off at all. I liked the idea of dropping the height is amount to decrease the advantage of the pitcher. And I would argue that a pitcher can only enter the game from the dugout sausa- manager goes out to get the pitcher the pitcher is already at the dugout rather than having to come in all the way from the bullpen. Where would they warm up Howard? They'd warm up in the bullpen. But they'd have to come to the dugout before they can come into the game. I feel like that would actually lengthen the process. I don't think you'd have to have a timeout. They can come in from the foul lines. The coaches are on the foul lines. They just know how I mean, they could you know, they wouldn't have to come in on the playing field during the game. Why don't we just all make them right in the bullpen cart? Wouldn't that be quicker? You give them a little car or a segue. Well, they used to do that. I know that was fun. Yeah. I thought it was good advertising, but they stopped it for some reason. I do like if that look at us that run in. But I think if they were there already what would that part would speed the game up Howard? You seem reluctant to adopt the whole designated hitter idea. Why why are you saying, you know, you don't want to say it, but the work and like the strategy. I like the National League style of play. But I've also willing to hear an argument. Well, let's face it. Imagine if we could have Ryan broad hitting and not have to play in the outfield. It would be to our advantage. You know, but I I think it's time given the expense of. Pitching to not risk pitchers on the base paths. But I don't like it. Just kind of where we are. And I know what you're saying the cost of pitching is what it is. And you know, you can get injured a thousand different ways, I know junior Gary was injured at the plate. So as Sanderson so was Jimmy Nelson. Well, it was more on the basis. But I also remember Vanni gay just blowing apart is knee trying to cover first base against the cubs. That was just the product of him being on the mound. So I the brewers have been stoned a little bit recently with injuries to their pitchers who have been. Not on the mound. But rather at the plate or on the base pounds four one four seven nine nine one six twenty. There will be some changes pace of play remains a big deal to huge initiative for rob Manfred. The twenty second pitch clock. There are already rules that exist that empires. Just don't follow. They're not counting. There's no stop watch. And I guess the twenty second pitch clock would just make things a little bit more front and center. But to me that's a rule that's already in place that just isn't being adhered to Mardian Sheboygan. Welcome to the program priority. I hate your. I like the strategy of the National League and against having a. Designated hitter for a long time. But I I think it's time to start going. Just. One thing previous caller cited Jimmy Nelson. But you're asking guys that pitch once every five days to do something that they're that. They don't practice, and you know, a very few of them aren't good at and you know, sometimes too. I think what what's the strength. What other strategies they're involved in the game? Then knowing when poll your starter how much strategy involved Baldwin. You intentionally walked hitter to get to the nice place guy who's the pitcher and you control three or four pitches. And and beyond. You know, I I guess I don't. Sometimes I think maybe we think strategy a little bit too much is involved with that. To that point. I don't know with the way to. A major league trending towards a starting pitcher. And I like what your first caller mentioned about China. UH to that starter. Seems like you know, we're turning more away from an actual starting pitcher. And just kinda like almost. Or whatever you wanna call them. And a are we getting to the point now where we're gonna have guys fish two or maybe three innings and you're just gonna have a bait bullpen instead. So I, you know, I it's an interesting concept. I just don't know how that would work with the way things are, you know, are going and major league baseball. Yeah. Thanks for the phone. Call marty. You know, what would happened last year and watching brewers baseball? I think fans started off concern that the brewers bullpen was to get blown out worn down. And by the end of the season, it became just absolutely fascinating. To watch our credit council used his pitching staff. It was remarkable. But Craig counsel even said this during brewers on deck event. What you saw last year in September and October. You can't really do that in April. And in may the rules are different when you get timber in October. You've got roster expansion. It's just a different animal. April. And may you'd like your guys go a little bit longer if possible. So maybe it'll look very similar to last year. But what you saw in September and October don't expect to see that in April. And may it's a different game earlier in the season. I it became a very very interesting thing to watch. The strategic decisions behind Craig councils pitching changes. I it was fascinating to me. And if that's what the league is going to become I'm down for it. Because that is interesting baseball. I must admit I'm kind of removed from the American League. I don't watch a lot of American League baseball. And I'm not gonna comment on the on the charm or the romance between the National League. And the American League. Is it a better game in the American League? Are you more entertained the runs scored really that much higher? Is there a strategic element missing for you? When you watch it and somehow that would be lost in the National League. If the designated hitter were part of that league for one four seven nine nine one six twenty got more thoughts to get get to on the other side. Also, the disabled list is a thing of the past. It's being replaced. I'll explain why after this. Two different people from two different walks of life in a way to see how governor.
