"It's got to be pretty cool to be living in Charlotte now and you can just drive over these places and get the details right from the source. Yeah, that's really, really cool. And for Noah greggs and this is, this is a continuation. So he drove for Kyle Busch, then he drove for Dale and her junior. Now he's driving for mister the king. My goodness. It just doesn't get any better for no Gregson. He's driven for every famous name you could have in the sport at this point. There you go. There you go. All right, well, that's cool. That's cool. Let's look ahead to Richmond Raceway this weekend, 98,000 rabid screaming, foaming at the mouth, NASCAR fans. Been a while since we've done that. Yeah. Three quarter mile oval that from above kind of looks like a super speedway, like a D shaped oval looking thing. No, it's tiny. It's tiny. 14° of banking. Front stretch 1290 feet back stretch 8 60. I mean, it is tiny. It's really small. It is. It is, although it's not the smallest on schedule. So there's that. That it has gone for it. I guess, but when you come from a two mile Michigan and you're going to a three quarter mile Richmond. It's a big difference. It's a super speedway compared to the coliseum. That's true. That's true. It's three coliseums. Right. Stages, 70 laps, 230 and the balance of the race, 400 laps, 300 miles earlier this year. Denny Hamlin won and last year's winner of this race was Martin Truex Junior. Nice, nice. If Martin Truex Junior can do it again, then we'll bump Ryan Blaney, who is second in points. From the playoffs, my goodness, could you imagine if second place and points does not make the playoffs? Phase fourth, isn't he? Ryan Blaney's second. The Truex wins that then bumps Blaney, who's currently in Truex is currently out, bizarre. What have we got three races left? Richmond, Watkins Glen and Daytona? Yeah, yeah. Okay. So this is big. Now, of course, Toyota is very good here at this racetrack. So there's a lot of people on the outer edge that could possibly do well this weekend. Yep, just confirming it here on the actual piece of paper on the schedule. There it is. Yeah, it's official. But that is such a wild scenario that we have a situation right now. Yeah. We're the guy who is consistent enough to be second in points. Through 23, is that we're at 23 races right now. We're 23 races in and the guy who's second is barely clinging to life nuts and is actually in threat of being knocked out because last year's winner is the guy right behind him that needs to get in. Right. Oh, okay, so you're looking at actual points in I was looking at projected playoff situation. So the regular season point standings, Ryan Blaney is second. I see it now, yeah. And has a chance to not make the playoffs. That's just wild. That is yeah. You got to do. We've got races here that a winless driver could step up. For sure. Yeah. And then you take into account that he won the all star race as well. And there's been people scattering about saying that that needs to have some kind of playoff correlation. So maybe there's something to be said about that going forward too with the guy who won the all star race, whose second end points, potentially missing the playoffs. I mean, my goodness. Fix that problem. We'll see what happens here, but my goodness. This is just, I can feel it. I can feel controversy brewing Carrie. I can feel it. And I'm excited. It would be here. Yeah, the play up NASCAR playoff system broken. All the YouTubers, right? They got a picture of Ryan with his hand in his face. Yeah, just all sorts of stuff. 12 is like on fire. Poop emojis on the Cup Series trophy. Richmond Sunday 3 p.m. eastern on USA, drivers ripping it up at Richmond. Whoo. Two wins, 12 top 5s, 15 top tens, two poles is for Joey Logano, average finish of 10.53. Wow. How about Kyle Larson? He's the guy who won a lot of races last year. He's one one this year. He has a win three top 5, 7 top tens, an average finish, 11.333. I'm laughing because I messed up the copy paste. Brad Keselowski has two wins, 6 top 5s, 12 top tens, a couple of polls, average finish of 12.3. How about Kevin Harvick, the guy who's on a hot streak all of a sudden, no longer winless, he is now winning Kevin Harvick. Three wins in this racetrack, 16 top 5, 28, top tens and three polls average finish from 8.206, that's third best, and can you imagine what this would say if he won two back to back? My goodness. And how cool is it he brought his daughter along for the ride along? She was standing up in the car. Yeah, man. Those Harvard kids, they're brave. That's for sure. He's like, hold on to this poll because once I

"NASCAR races as well. And that's awesome. That's really awesome to hear. And he says, and this is funny that I don't know this. But he sends me the audio for every week for this show. All set for Richmond two. You are on fire, my friend, you've almost caught Toby, only 5 players between you two at this juncture should prove to be a fun playoff run kudos. Cheers, rowdy. So what full disclosure, when I got on vacation, I stopped updating my picks. I don't even know who I was on my team. But all I know is this week I remember right before the race started because there was a red flag or The Rain delay at the beginning. And I was like, oh crap, I need to change it. And I went in there and there were like three spots that were missing a driver, so I'm so glad I went in there and changed it because that could have been bad, but I don't think I had any weeks where I didn't have a driver in. So I think I barely got it. Way to rub it in. Well, you missed an entire race. You had nothing in for the entire race. I know. Even the weeks where I didn't pick who I wanted, at least I had people in and they were pretty decent guys. I should have been okay. I think it's funny that, yes, I remember to play each week and update my drivers and stuff, but I don't look after the facts. So rowdy, I guess knows that and he gives me the details on how I did. See, it's good that he breaks it down for you, that's awesome. Absolutely. Absolutely. Hey, we've got some big news coming your way from Toby Christie dot com, news of the week. But first, let's do some Michigan International Speedway stuff. Let's do it. Ten to one is how we're going to do things here in Thai Gibbs, driving for Kurt Busch, first career top ten. And what's even more impressive about this is with less than 40 laps to go. Ty Gibbs had a pit road speeding penalty, dropped him all the way back to 24th on the last restart of the day. He knifed his way back up through the field and got a solid top ten out of it. That's impressive. Like you said, first career top ten, I think it's the first of many that we'll be seeing from ty Gibbs in his career. Yeah, of course not careful. We got Alex Bowman there at number 9. Yeah, and you know, I don't really know where he came from. It was kind of a weird quiet day. He kind of dropped all the way to the back and then all of a sudden you'd see him in the top 5 top ten. You're like, oh, where did he come from? And then he kind of just disappeared again and then he bear right back up there again and I was like, okay, so he's been very inconsistent as of late. So I think he'll take this 9th place finish. That's the Alex Bowman way. Yes. Just sneaks up there and takes it. Backs right into it. Eric Jones, I mean, he's doing pretty well. You know, if they're not careful, he might win a race. They've been running really good there on the 43 team petty GMS. And I actually went to an event this week at their race shop. So it's pretty cool. But yeah, so they are looking good. The 43 has definitely been really closing in on a win all season long. I'm guessing it was regarding the 42. Yes, it was regarding the 42. They will talk about that here in a little bit. Kyle Larson is now a back marker in the top ten these days. Man, hell the mighty have fallen, huh? Ten wins. Cuts the all star race last year, and now he's a back marker in the top ten. Although I think he'll take this 7th place as opposed to the just obliterating type Dylan the week before or a couple weeks before. So I think I'll take this for sure. Martin Shrek's junior also kind of mid packer in the ten. Well, and this is the strange thing, so Martin Truex Junior is right there in the point standings. It's looking like he's having a great season. Yeah. But he didn't have a win. He's now outside the playoff cut line. Despite being what fourth and points, this is crazy. It's yeah, this season has testing the limits of this playoff system. It really is. It really is a new speak to that. When you look at the 5th place, finisher as well. He's barely inside the cut line. Ryan Blaney, whose second end points. And it's just barely inside the cut line. Yeah, it's pretty crazy to think about. What do we got next? Joey Logano is fourth in this race. Who I think I'm pretty sure I picked him in my fantasy just out of the blow for you know what? I think it's gonna be a Joey day. Yeah, and I think I did the same and as the race was going, I was like, you know what? This is a pretty smart call. And then when it started getting towards the end, he was the thorn in the side of some guys to make sure that somebody else ended up winning the race. So it was pretty interesting to see how it did, but he had some pretty decent speed. That race winning speed, but definitely a very good run for Joey Logano. I'm looking it up right now. I did pick him. Yes. So there it is. Boom. There we go. Yeah, absolutely. Who do we got next? Denny Hamlin at number three. Yeah, and Denny Hamlin, number three, and I think he's just happy to get out of here without a DQ, car went to R&D center, things have been checked out. It's good to go. I think they're just happy to move on to all the third place finish, no drama. It's all good to go. Yeah, definitely. And Bubba Wallace, he was the pole sitter for this race. First career for that, and ends up runner up spot, bubba, man, just he is, he's figured it out. Now he really has this guy is chugging down some good finishes all of a sudden, four straight top ten finishes in the last four races. He's got a 4.5 average finish. It's going pretty good for Bubba Wallace right now. It might be a little too little too late. But if he can sneak out, I win in these next three races who knows what the future holds for as far as play asco. All right, I'm gonna lay down the stats and you guess the driver who won. Okay. It ends a 65 race winless drought. It's his 59th career win. 6th win at Michigan, four out of the last 5 races has been won by this

"Outlook. Ryan. Now what you're gonna ask, so shame that another car one. Happy for Ford. Go in and just leave the fork on a win, so. Just kind of try to win next few weeks and about the 19 and points. It'll be exciting. That's for sure. So hopefully we can speak to them. A lot of really don't know. Richmond were really good in the spring, but we were probably second best car, so we need to figure out how to be better than that. Walk in's Glenn up in the air. We've been getting there in the past, but our road course stuff like I said, I've been off, and then yeah, I don't know. We'll just see. We'll go find hard luck. We always do. And we got a great team. We've had a decent year just the only thing missing is that win. And that's obviously what matters now, so we got to find a way to get it done. Could you have ever imagined 15 different winners at this point this season? Okay, now? I love that quote, Dustin got from him. By the way, with that one spot left, that's gonna be a dog fight. So does it boil down, honestly, Nate to Blaney versus Truex? Is that the way you do it? I mean, certainly seems that way, Marty. And you know, really, it could be, it boils down to Blaine versus drew X at Richmond because you can make the case, which I think you did earlier today that Richmond is Martin Truex Junior's last best chance for making the playoffs. If he needs if he's gonna do it, which we think he's gonna have to do it by getting a win because he is not been good Toyota has not been good on road courses this year, Watkins lens coming up after Richmond. March 1st junior has never won a super speedway race at Daytona or Talladega. So Daytona would seem to be ruled out as a really good opportunity. He's won three times at Richmond. He led 80 laps there in the spring, so I think this is the place for him, but Ryan Blaney scored a career best 7th place at Richmond in the spring, started on poll on a stage, so and led the most laps. So I could make a case for either. I think going to Richmond's real simple, I have no doubt the 19 car will have the car to win the race. He says he's the second place car. We had to just have the debate in the first place. So if you have the top three or four car, you have a chance to win the race. But you're going to a short track where the decision to pit and how many times I'm going to come in is perhaps the most important of any short track we go to and they have not been on the same page of the race winner and that's easy to say because I have missed called a million races. I get it, right? And you go in like, it's so easy after it happens. But they just haven't. Like, they've had winning cars a couple of times this year and they haven't seen two get it all lined up. So it wouldn't shock me, but to answer your question, yes, this is a toe to toe, Martin Truex Junior, Ryan Blaney, heavyweight battle, to the checkered flag at Daytona, there obviously can be a spoiler, but I don't see one. I think it comes down to these two. Here's the three type of races we have left, short track this week in a Richmond Watkins Glen road course in Daytona. There's the tale of the tape this year. Barely even, I would say. I mean, the average finish probably a little skewed for Truex there on the short tracks. I think the average finish on the short tracks is skewed. I think the road course ones are very accurate. I think Blaney is 5 or 6 spots better than the Toyota's at least at the road courses. And in my mind, if true X can't gain points here, it gets really pressure packed at the Glen. And that's the one that really stands out to me. The 16.8 average finish on road courses this year for Truex because that again speaks to just how out to lunch Toyota and Joe Gibbs Racing have been on road courses Martin Truex Junior has won at the Glen before he wants snowman before he's shown himself to be a road course ace, but I think you really have to take the Glen out of the equation about places he could win. I think it's possible he could win at Daytona because even though he hasn't won at that track. Before he's been up there and anybody could win there. And he's been up there. He's finished second the Daytona 500, but I really think Richmond's is best shot. Martin Truex Junior has finished second in the championship in three of the last 5 years, Steve. If they don't make the playoffs this year, with one year left, probably my goodness. What happened? Well, I've said that Martin Truex Junior is two or three pit stops away from me to three or four time champ. I mean, it's really been that close. You mentioned second, just last year at Phoenix arguably he was in command when the flip when the pit stops flipped. Now, the 5 earned it. I'm not taking anything away, but as a driver, I'm not sure trucks did anything wrong to lose it, right? So if we're only talking about the talent behind

Chase Elliott needs nearly 7 hours to win at Nashville

"Following a two hour delay due to rain at Nashville superspeedway chase Elliott took a gamble on a late race caution staying out when several other drivers pitted for tires The bet paid off as Elliot was able to hold off Kurt Busch and Ryan Blaney for the win As bad as we were at the beginning of the race to be able to adjust on it take advantage of the opportunities we had to try to fix it and then to hit on it and to be able to execute after we hit on it to finish the event strong is not an easy thing to do Elliott led the final 34 laps to pick up a second NASCAR Cup Series victory of the season Bush admitted to making a mistake that likely cost him a shot at the win and finished second I just needed to start throwing fenders and starting to move people around and I didn't get after it Blaney was third I'm Jerry

"A little bit of sound was one of the drivers that took part in the all star race Sunday Night if you want to hear a little bit more of two drivers with opinions. I would tune in on Thursday, 6 o'clock, the day of junior down hold, no other than Denny Hamlin's gonna join junior. I'm a what would they talk about? I mean, what could possibly be the topic of conversation? You know, timing is important in life. Yes, it is. So you will not want to miss 6 p.m. Thursday, Denny Hamlin joins the download and here you go. Here's Danny has the same, never should have been a yellow in the first place, but blaming this situation to make up for it. He feels that they broke a rule two wrongs don't make a right. That was just on Twitter, so now they gotta get together and talk about it, Dale junior, he had an opinion that they were gonna let you debate one to try to avoid the other. So I suggest tuna name. On Thursday and here are these two talk about it live and in person. You know something that I've noticed and I found this out because I thought maybe it was only me when I went down to del junior's and did it a couple of years ago, but you end up feeling so comfortable in that situation that you say things that you think later, maybe I shouldn't have gone there exactly. And I don't know if you've experienced that, but it's like you just sit there, I mean it's like God sitting around and that's what they want it to be and what it is, but you sit around the next thing you know you said things that maybe you wish you had kept inside, but I think this could get really certain. If that's true, I'm gonna text Denny right now and telling he shouldn't go. All right, well listen, we've given all our opinions. Let's hear some of the fans opinions. We're gonna go to the phone lines. Ray, you're up. Hi, guys. So Ryan Blaney is coming to the checkered flag. Flag man has it out. He's waving it. For a hundred years, over a hundred years, we've all been taught. Check and flag signaling the end of the race. However, if the lights are official, why are we still waving a checkered flag? Why are we keeping up a charade signaling the end? Because Ryan Blaney got a hundred feet. He sees the checkered flag out. He's coming thinking the race is over. And then he sold it's not. He's dropping a basic reaction. I understand. Can we just get rid of it? Just have the light. That's all I'm saying, because the officials are putting out something that's not official in the checkered law. Hold on. And by the way, we get rid of the checkered flag. I might have a hard time. So let's back up for just a moment. He's waving a checkered flag because he's way better to check a flag because he the winning cars coming to the start finish line. He's waving the checkered flag. They then throw the caution. He quits waving a yellow flag. I'm Chris waving the checkered flag and the caution light comes on. Even if he was still waving the checkered flag, it wouldn't have mattered. The lights are what matter. When the cost of light comes on, even if he's waving to check her. Because it was already being put out there. But he sees him 300 yards coming. And so that's what he's signaling. Yeah. What happened? He wasn't going to mention not to mention the other 36 weeks of the year, the white would have been good enough. I don't have the high grass and go that far back to it. Yeah. The flame didn't do anything wrong. The flag waving to check her. And now the caution is out. He's being told caution. He's like pulls the checker back. I know what else you could do. That was pretty impressed reaction time. I wouldn't get the yellow out there. I even know this that far. As well. But yeah, listen, if you talk about getting rid of the checkered flag, that was that hurt my heart. We can't be getting rid of the checkered flag. You know? I understand that there's reasons to be olives can have different reasons to be upset the way that it was done. You know, we don't need to go to the extreme here. Yeah, it was an all star race. Fortunately it happened there. And hopefully, things are going to be learned, and we won't run into that situation. Obviously, in any points event, that's not going to be the case anyway. That might come out, but the race would have been over. Yeah, and listen, ray, call in, all the time. I'd love to have a question, man. Mike, you're on motor mouse. Thanks for taking my call. Yes, sir. What's your question? So first of all, I'd like to say, I totally agree with the mayor that these rules for the all star race need to be totally simplified to the fans can understand it. But I'd like to ask, what do you think they should do with the all star rates going forward? Should they continue what they're doing? Should they go back to Charlotte? Should they go to a stadium like they did for the class, tell me what you think? Thanks. That's great. And earlier in the show. We might not have enough time with this. Go ahead, real quick. What would you do with it? Yeah, there needs to definitely needs to be changes made. I'm going to give two scenarios. Either back to Charlotte because we don't need an ad another week. And there's nothing wrong with Texas, but if you're going to have it, make it a take this somewhere else. I even brought up you on a call today. Put them in equal cars. Ray Everett ham and Tony Stewart should do, put them in those cars. You know, take the Xfinity champion, truck champ. So let's make this just winners people, not having anything before that. My blank page, I know it sounds crazy, my blank pages don't bring the teams, don't get the teams involved and make it purely a vote like to do another sports. Maybe ten cup drivers, 5 20 drivers, 5 trucks, and go run the buggies like the championships, like just something different, where it could be fun. Showcase their skills, head to head, duel it out. I think it makes it more fun when it's a race. It's still really like their job. And I don't think they can have as much fun as they would if they weren't in their own cars. A lot of conversation about Marcus Smith and his team finding a way to take racing to the fairgrounds in Nashville. Oh, boy. Perfect place to put it. Sure. We should be this race..

"Jarrett, not much to talk about pretty quiet weekend qualifying for an Indianapolis and a quiet all star race in Texas. Now, listen, there's so much to unfold, that was most of the finish of the all star race, good run for Ryan Blaney, good speed, but a little bit of controversy. But this show is about you, the fans call in. We'd love to hear your opinion. I'm sure there's a lot about there. One 8 four four NASCAR NBC and we're also lucky to have a few guests today. Straight off a good top 5 qualifying run for the Indianapolis 500 Chip Ganassi driver Marcus Eriksen, will join us, as well as the driver of max D and monster jam, Tom Metz. Let's jump right into the all star race at Texas. We have a lot to hear, Scott Miller, vice president of competition from NASCAR, gave us their opinion, Denny Hamlin gave us some sound. But before we dig into all that, 10,000 foot view, Ryan Blaney fast car, controversy with the yellow, window net up, what's your overall takeaway from it? I'll skip all of that and go back to where we crashed out, quite a few of them really fast ones and more of the favorites of the race. I mean, if you look at, especially the betting side of it, you know, those guys were you talk about Kyle Busch, Kyle Larson, Ross Chastain, chase Elliott. Those were some of four of the top 6, I believe, a favorites for the race to win the race. So they were all running up front, but had issues and it wiped out of that out. So you had to sit and wonder what was the rest of the race going to look like. And so we saw an entertaining race, you can say what you want about all of the rules and regulations that they had put in place, trying to make it entertaining, but the controversy part of it. Yeah, there's a lot to say there. But any time you have an event, this can go back well before any of us were born, that there was going to be there's always going to be a controversial call. In most events, that you'll see. There's some time that I call it. It might not always decide the winner and loser, but at some point in time, it changes what happens. And in my opinion, the call to put the caution out there at the end of the race, but right before I'm lanny took the life in, that that was, that was done too soon. A too quickly. There's no way that you can tell me that you know that. That for no more than what happened there. And I think that was just the wrong thing to do at that point in time. So, Jeff real quick, let's focus on that part. Let's talk about just the yellow. What's your thought of the yellow, the timing of the other, the necessity of the yellow? Well, the yellow in my opinion was a mistake. It was no need for an hour they were coming to get the checkered, got up the racetrack. Sort of got in the wall and kept going. I don't know if Scott Miller with NASCAR. He said that they were talking.

"With $1 million on the line drivers through caution to the wind and the NASCAR all star race at Texas Motor Speedway and at the end of the night it was Ryan Blaney taking home the big check I don't really spend a lot of money so probably put it in the banker Put it towards the retirement fund I don't know But we'll see I might buy a new set of tires for a new motor for dance spring cartoon That's probably what I'll do Blaine survived four separate stages avoided multiple cautions and as he crossed the finish line the caution came out He thought he had won the race and dropped his window net but the race wasn't over and then he had to re secure the net and hold off Denny Hamlin who was chasing him down from second I think that caught all of us off guard and so it was kind of short lived panic mode in my spot of like how the hell am I going to get this window net back up Austin Cedric finished third Jerry Jordan Fort Worth Texas

"It's a very different track, but the speed does matter. So that just actual car speed, but the handling side of things, and really that's what we've missed at Indy the last couple years is the actual speed that the handling of the car has been quite good. So I want to say where I don't want to last year I felt like we were going to turn up and be really competitive, so I'm not going to predict. And up here, I just say quietly confident. We've because I felt like we worked so hard in the off season last year, but I'd say we've done the same again. And we will all be scratching our heads if this year we're not competitive. So we'll see how it plays out and we'll just creep up on it slowly and not I'm not going to say anything. I'm just going to leave it at that. Let me ask you an honest question. Do people show their hands at the open test or not? Like let's just be truthful. Like, do they go there and say, I'm going to give it everything we've got, or I'm not going to hold some stuff back. I, you know, I've never got a good indication from open tests. Honestly, because you don't know what people are doing. You don't know who I mean, you've got toe fields and all that, so you can see in speeds, but leading final practice before qualifying before they turned up the boost for that Friday for qualifying practice. You know, I was confident we'd be fast because for more the analysis we did on all the lone speeds, it looked like that. But as soon as we turned up the booze suddenly we were off the pace, so it's so hard to tell. You can't tell. And it qualifying does actually mean a lot of these days because there's just not as many yellows, the field is way thicker, like you have, it's hard to pick a bad team and a bad driver, honestly, out of the field and everyone's kind of doing their job on race day, so it's not easy to just get through the field to get to the front. It does matter. Ultimate speed with the boost turned up. So see what we got. Hey, well, before we let you go, we tried to get Ryan Blaney to bet with you of who would be the first number 12 Team Penske driver to win this year. Do you want to throw in a wager? Maybe a beer, maybe a lunch, something like that. First winner, first winner, first loser buys. Launch would be good at epic steak. Once your epic steakhouse, which is, by the way, for everyone else in the country, not in the Charlotte area, a very expensive steakhouse. You'll take that, right? You'll take that. I want you to take your Internet connection from your side of the Lake Norman to Ryan satellite Norman. That would be helpful. Yeah, that's bad. That's okay. He lives on a farm. It's all good. All right bud. We will see you. We'll see you tomorrow in Long Beach. Best of luck this weekend. Look forward to see you on the plane. Actually, I'll be kicking your seat. There you go. And he alluded to it that they didn't get everything that they felt like that they needed to last year. So you come back, better prepared. And you can just, you can tell that he's hungry. I mean, he talks a lot about Indian. I understand that. I know that and he's warning. You know, you get a second Indy 500, you get a second championship. Just put you in a different class. And you can tell he said it there. He knows how to win these races, and he knows how to win the championships. "Currently in Atlanta, heading to Charlotte soon and every point in between, I guess. Yeah, yeah. And you know, it's going to be fun. This has been a good journey for us so far. You always go into a road trip, not knowing how the kiddo is going to do. We took our dogs with us as well. That's always our dogs aren't the best at situations like that. So we were really nervous about that. But everybody did great. So far, in Atlanta, we're almost there. We're about a four hour drive away. Just waiting for the moving stuff to get there for us to head that way. Everybody's done good. So it's been a really good trip so far. We're very excited and it's going to be fun. Awesome. How about that Ryan Blaney interview? We talked Star Wars. We talked playoffs. We talked next gen car. I packed a lot in those ten minutes. You did. You usually do, and you did yet again. So I'm proud of you. You did a good job. It's awesome to hear Ryan Blaney on the show yet again as he chases just an all guy as the all time. Most interviewed person on this show. He was very interested to know that and wants to be on more now, so that's cool. Yeah, that is good, so maybe we'll be hearing more Ryan Blaney in the near future. We'll see. We'll see, but it's always good to get the drivers involved in our little inside stuff here on the show. Yeah. Because they're busy, they don't realize they don't expect us to say stuff like that. And they have so many interviews they do during the year anyway that I'm sure it's hard for them to really keep track mentally of which ones they've been on a lot. Even if they've talked to you a lot, have a good report and stuff. I'm sure they don't fully realize how many times they've actually talked to one single person or one single show. I'm sure that makes them feel like, oh man, this is actually significant. I've done quite a few. This is pretty cool. Yeah, yeah. I think your only reason why Justin is leading is because he before Ryan Blaney was even on driver. So, yeah. At least in the upper things of NASCAR, as Justin was down in the Xfinity series, then he went to cop, back down, et cetera. Yeah. Yeah, definitely. But, you know, I mean, it's been good, because even though he has hit all those different things, all guy are always seems like he likes being a part of this show. So that's awesome. Definitely, definitely. All right, let's get into some news of the week from tobee Christie dot com. We begin with Brandon Jones back at JGR. Yeah, so this was the big question mark because there's a lot of change going on.

"Yeah, we got to test at the robo for a couple of days right after the race. But that's the Monday and Tuesday after that Sunday race. And it was cool to go to a track where you just ran on in the current car and run the next gen or you can kind of can really pick out the differences of it for discretion your mind. And so I thought it was really nice. You know, you kind of work through some bugs in it. You have to fix or kind of clean up you have that with any kind of new car, just some quality issues and parts and stuff like that, the best way to kind of go about it. But I thought once we got rid of it, the car was really great. I thought it ran also on those road courses, you can hustle the car really good. They just handled a lot different just the whole base feel of the race car with it being a completely different type of car. I mean, there's no truck on the track bar. It's this new car's independent rear suspension. So we've never had the gearbox is way different. So everything is just a driver's learning something new from what we've done for a long long time. So but I really did enjoy it. I look forward to testing it more in the off season here. I know we have some lined up and can't wait to get some more laps in it and see what's got for next year. Is there any one particular issue or maybe a small list that you handed over to NASCAR that you'd like to see in the new car? Yeah, I mean, there's a couple things, you know, just with, you know, everything's new, right? It's all coming from different manufacturers. So we had some steering issues, like the sparing box and stuff like that, which kind of kind of shaken and rattling and I think we got that a little bit better throughout the test just fine tune in it. And I know we're working on count of the cooling inside the cars. It's pretty hot in there compared to what we got now. So often we're continuing to work on. You don't want to get any summer races in your cooking turkeys inside the race car. So if we could make some gains on that, but no, I think there was little things and NASCAR's been good at kind of listening to the team to drivers on how to all make it better because if we're going to do this thing right, you know, it takes everybody to give their input and everyone's got to be happy. So I think we're working towards that pretty well. All right, wrapping up our time with Ryan Blaney here. One more question I gotta ask you about your Ryan Blaney family foundation. Tell us more about that. Started my foundation a couple of years ago and two, three years ago and so we may work with the Alzheimer's association and some person with our family and the grand my grandfather had Alzheimer's. Pretty bad and passed away from it and it's just it's a bad disease to let someone go through just some mind is just deteriorating over time. And it's hard to watch as an outside perspective, but it's really hard for that person to go through. You know, not recognizing your family, not knowing, you know, just slowly losing grip on kind of reality and what something simplest to you is just not simple anymore. So we wanted to pair up with Alzheimer's association kind of help out that, whether it's raising awareness or funds and so that's been a lot of work, but it's been really humbling and need to meet up a lot of people. And this year, we worked with UPMC. University of Pittsburgh medical center up in Pennsylvania. You know that brain health or concussions, things like that. So it's been a lot of fun. We're sending two fellows to school to kind of get their training to open up their own facilities, whether it's in the Charlotte area or wherever they want. So a lot of brain health that we're working on and it's been really neat to meet a lot of people that have some kind of pioneers and that industry and a lot of stuff kind of carry over to our side of NASCAR concussions and things like that and symptoms and after we work towards helping that out. So it's really neat. You can find out a lot about it if you go to the Ryan Blaney family foundation website. And yeah, we love to love everyone check it out and we'll keep on going with it. All right, appreciate the time once again, where Ryan Blaney, you got another notch on the final app scorecard here between you and Justin Allgaier. Appreciate the time and good luck throughout the playoffs. I appreciate it. Thanks for having me. Like us at Facebook dot com slash the final lap. Like us. The final lap weekly is back..

"We could do stuff if we wanted, but they do enough on their own. They send a blast out to everybody that really shouldn't have been seen, which was kind of funny. Yeah, they don't really need stirring up any more travel on them. Chase Elliott, who's probably a fan of this package because he's on the good side of things with Hendrick motor sports there. Yes, and number 7 this week, again, you kind of expect a little better than that for him, especially when you look at the top here, you look at a couple of his teammates up there at the very, very front of the field. But I think he'll take 7th and a clean day at Texas Motor Speedway. This is a track that doomed his championship hopes a couple of seasons ago. 7th place finish puts him in a good position to possibly advance to that championship for if he can keep getting some good results down the stretch here. Ryan Blaney, or as my kids like to say, Ryan inside laney, you know, from the cars movies. Yeah, of course. 6th place finish gets him second in the standings, which is interesting. That he's right there in the mix. I want a difference a year is made for Ryan Blaney. He was the guy that was just the perennial first round exit from the playoffs. I just had such rough luck to Bristol and Richmond each year and this year he was able to put it together. That with Darlington as well. And got through that first round. That was the big the big question mark for him. Once he got through there now, he has really put together some really good runs and with those three wins he has this year that just gives him so many bonus points every time we restart one of these rounds. If he gets good finishes, like he did last week. This week at Texas, then he starts working his way up to playoff rankings very quickly and it's good to see for Ryan Blaney. It's awesome to have him on the show this week. I'm sure he'll talk about some of that, but a 6th place finish is just what he needs heading into these last couple of races of this round. Some guy named Kevin Harvick, then he got Brad Keselowski who finishes fourth in the race, but still, on the outside looking in, which is interesting. Yeah, yeah, Brad Keselowski, he's had speed. He just hasn't had the luck and he's had some weird mental errors throughout the season that have doomed where he is in the rankings currently. But if he can put together another couple of races like this one to close this thing out, he has an outside shot at moving on to the championship for is a guy who's been there before, and it would be no surprise to see Brad Keselowski there. But at the same time, it would kind of be a surprise just because he's had so many things where he shot himself in the foot throughout the year. So if he's able to stop those issues and put it all together, it'll be fun to see. Christopher Bell in third place there with his third straight top ten. That's going to get some notice. Yeah, Christopher Bell as this season has gone on has really kind of come to life. I'm excited to see what he can do next year as far as the playoffs go, because it was nice to see him in there this year. And I think had he moved on to the next round he could have been dangerous, but it'll be fun to see how they do next year. And the follow-up to this first playoff birth for them, but he's definitely had speed at several places this year. And it'll be fun to see if they can get that going next year. I think Chris rubel will be one of the guys that may sneak up and surprise people as a championship contender next year. Another guy is William Byron. He gets knocked out of the playoffs, and he could be down in the dumps and down on himself and depressed. No, they come back stronger than ever in second place. They are ones to contend each and every week and I think they are building something for next year. I agree. I think William Byron is a guy that people really should be penciling in as the guy who could pull off to a weird Kyle Larson season like Kyle Larson's had this year. William Byron is really put together a lot of top results like you said 11th top 5 this season. This is a second place finish lots of runner ups, lots of third places. He won at homestead. It's been a very good year for William Byron. This is a huge step forward for his growth process in the sport. He's got the crew chief Rudy fugal that he's very comfortable with. And I really think good things are going to happen for William Byron in that 2014 next season as well. And that rhymes with bugle. It does. I don't know how relevant. Yes, it does. It's relevant to me. Victory lane is where we're headed. The amazing season just continues. Kyle Larson, 2021, let's hear from him. Yeah, it's awesome. You know, I mean, we had a good point lead or whatever from the cutoff going into it, but still, you know, Harvick had his issues last year and didn't make the final force. That will always be on my mind, but we have fast, fast car today, and you know, we had a good couple stages, so even if I didn't come out with the lead or the win or whatever I wanted to play it smart and take what I could get, but I got good shows for me homie every restart and allowed me to get clear into the lead into one every time and then do some blocking for a few laps. So fun on all those restarts and we had a great race car to allow me to be aggressive with the blocks and fast two to stay out in front of William. And more from Kyle Larson, the dominant driver of 2021. Obviously, your Brad had taken the top on the other restarts behind William and Brad's a really good pusher. So I was nervous about that and honestly, I was like when they told us we're going one to go. I was like, please, Brad, take the bottom, take the bottom, take the bottom. And he took the bottom because I was worried, I'm sure you guys all write a story about this, but I was worried about bell being.

"Yeah, this week we've stopped in Atlanta at Christa's sister's house. They're letting us stay here for a good week. Yeah, as you're a huge Dodgers fan and they're locked into a battle with the braves right now. That's right. But yeah, no, it's funny. So we're here and they've been very welcoming and I'm actually down on the basement right now recording this show with you. Pretty good stuff. All right. Basement recording is on. I'm dwelling in the basement. I am freaking out. Just freak it out. Why? Because there's only three races left. Yeah, it's getting pretty close. And for us, that means we're going to have to start doing a lot of hard work very soon. A lot more talking about nothing. Yeah, which we are pretty good at. But yeah, it's not ideal. Well, you're going to be in Charlotte this year for the off season. Are you going to be like roaming around the garage area or the shop areas and stuff? I think I'll be roaming around a lot of different areas and should probably find us some pretty decent content. This off season. Okay, just, you know, sharp high tobacco. Guys. Can I see what you're doing there and your top secret lab? Let me see how you put one of these next gen cars together guys. Can I take detailed notes and video? Preferably the video part. They won't mind, right? No, certainly not. That's what it is. Heck. What are they going to do? I mean, they have to be pretty specced out by or from NASCAR anyway. What secret stuff could they be doing? Well, that's a good point. A lot of the stuff at this point and you saw that next gen test the role. Some of the underfunded teams that typically underfunded teams were running right up there with the big dogs as far as the lap times on the speed charts. I think a lot of teams are very excited about what the next gen provides as far as evening the playing field. I know we've talked about a lot of these cars over the years, we're going to even the playing field. They never do, but this one, as far as the chassis and the engines are all pretty much the same at this point because they're all coming from three basic manufacturers. Whether it be rauch hendrik RCR or TRD, so at this point, the engines are pretty close to the same. You've got three manufacturers there. You've got one manufacturer for the chassis and all other stuff. All the bodies are going to be composite bodies. So there's no real wiggle room there either. This is a pretty good opportunity for somebody to smaller teams to possibly grasp a stranglehold on a decent spot in the field next year. We talked to Ryan Blaney coming up in the program I asked him about the next gen car. He's got a few concerns, but one of which seems to be common among drivers is hot. Yeah. That's the thing they've been really trying to figure out, even at the last test they did, they cut slits in the windows and the front and the back just hoping to let some of that air out. But we'll see what they do. They definitely got some roads to pave there as far as the heat inside the cars. Definitely don't want hot drivers. No, because it's already pretty hot as it is. We've been talking about just crazy climbing temperatures the last few years is anyway. So if we go above that and I was hearing that things were melting to the floorboard and the test previous to the roval test, I think over at Daytona they were running stuff was melting to the floorboards. You definitely don't want that kind of heat. No, no, definitely not. I mean, if it's a 140 inside the car is currently, I can't imagine it being much hotter than that. Yeah. But if it is, you don't want to be in there. That's for sure. No, I mean, these are the superstars of the sport and you're treating them like as Ryan Blaney calls them turkeys. As turkeys, yes. You know, that's so phrase it's not used very often anymore. No, turkeys. Well, I think it's so hard it's an oven, you know? Well, yeah. But let's call people turkeys more often. Right. Well, it is almost Turkey season. That's true. It's a good point. Coming up on it. NASCAR, Cup Series racing. From your former home, your love, Texas. Speedway. Yes, long time, home track for me. I've seen races from every possible vantage point at that track. So yeah, it always feels weird, you just dumped them, left them, said no more. I'm outta here. Well, hey, things have to happen. I was doing it for the greater good for the show. So that's what it's all about. That's true. I mean, you're going to be right in the heart of it, driving distance to a lot of tracks. Yeah, lots of tracks. All the shops are right there. So there's going to be a lot of things that this is a big thing for us on the show for me with my website. There's going to be a lot of things that this is a positive for. Awesome. Awesome. I can't wait to see what unfolds. Let's run things down ten to one. "Me to listen to with what we want you to hear us wherever you get your pockets coming to the end of stage to at the race at michigan this accident involving austin and brad kazlauskiene austin dillon's belts say it. I mean i'll admit. What did i. I got on a private talkback and i ask. Jeff jeff what exactly that. Just see right. It was shocking. Probably the best moment though is when we saw austin dillon. Climb out of that car. It really took my breath away joining us to discuss this and a lot more of the race yesterday. Pizza sony from the morning drive on sirius. Xm radio so pete first of all thanks for joining us. Let's touch base on that rack. That had to be a big topic. Good discussion with the fans today. Because i'm not really sure what i thought the window really was and you know i've seen myself. Obviously it's on happened alive yesterday. When i was watching it on nbc. And you know. I heard the jar brad. In i'll dean was purposeful by any means and some listeners. May be kind of felt that way. I don't think so. I heard the audio from austin apologizing. I know people to like this like the point. The finger because controversy is what people like in sports. I just use kind of one of those racing deals. I don't really see any fault on either side but also can't tell you that i'm not continue to scratch my head. Was they were so far past. Start finish line. That's what really struck me. There as you said carbon was. Okay do today. What i did yesterday. Which is gonna lick to my left at two drivers your tell me what happened because i couldn't figure it out yesterday. Know watching it yesterday. I said the only thing that i thought that austin really had a major beef about is why is brackets lousy. Still in my panel. This far down the straightaway. I had a conversation with brad little bit ago. And it all got a lot more clear to me. He thought because the information coming to him because the sem day that he says was a lap behind he thought he was coming to the one to go at the end of the state so he thought they had left to go so he was trying to hang on the right rear quarter panel pulling back to try to passing back in turn one so that all makes perfect sense because he was my world. Why are you so close. And then it's rough when you go below that white line. Those big bumps also car came up a little bit. I think you hit those bumps. it came up trying to sidra him to get back to and get into turn want to try to get back by and he thought they were coming to one to go into sage and after he told me that. I'm like oh well that clears it up now. Understand that makes way more sense understanding that information. Well it makes more sense. It's still is not good for also now veasley in that situation. Whatever may have happened pete. How about this aside from that. What were the fans talking about. As far as the racing this there was a big change to put this package together to make the racing more competitive only type tracks. Are they liking what they're seeing. It's interesting dj. Because i don't have the official tally but it really felt like with bagman either smarty. The majority of the listeners really like the racing mentally. It's different to your point. We know it's a different package. We know the horse our is is lower. We know that drafting become such a big part of this. You know we heard some of the drivers. Saying i mean the where the race ryan blaney saying. I really don't like the rates this way. But this is how you have the race but the end of that race. The last ten laps more just really really in my opinion a lot. Recently you guys have over. The years at michigan international speedway it was there was going from start to finish their yesterday where i personally thought it was a really good race so i think the fans again. A lot of them are split. I think social media kinda here. One thing. But i can tell us on sirius nascar radio. A lot of folks really liked that race and they were surprised. Rhyme lady was in position to win the race at the end on. The a lot of people had lady as their winter that race. But you know what he did everything he had to do to to victory lane and turned out that way for him yesterday afternoon. There and the irish shells i will say that What i liked about a dj was that it still took good cars. What i mean by that is sometimes you go to talladega. And i don't want to call it completely up in the air because that's unfair to the talent of the drivers who are out there doing job but immediately i think the equipment is more equal there than any other race track and michigan. It wasn't equal. There was still fast cars and slow cars. I think that helped me enjoy the race because not anyone could lead. You still have to fight your way to the front. Can i say this about what drivers say about the raising. And i appreciate you saying that. This is what we have to work with jeopardy. You'll remember back many years ago but as we were transitioning from by slot cars to radio tires. Did any of us like what a radio tire felt like. We had to work with me and ain't so we went job the best that we could. Well that's how i look at it. I mean they make the rules. Nascar does right. The drivers have to work with those rules are gonna drive over. They have to drive hoochies at the set. The cars.

"From the restart the flag and this is the man that pulled it off ryan blaney rhyme in first of all. Thanks for joining us. Those last ten laps or intense. What were they see. You said it. thank me. It was very intense. just start off getting opportunity to race for the win there You know we're going to be fourth and that's kind of beauty the choose rule right You know taking a shot at at you know. Maybe it's not the preferred lane but you're giving yourself a shot to win and then we couldn't pass up the front row and got a great push by the eighteen. I appreciate. I appreciate kyle for you know sticking with the bumper to my back bumper there and giving us again shove into one and we had good enough car to hold those guys off the end even though it was really tough kind of playing the game and but surprised the team We were not very competitive. You know as far as winning car early on in the race. Gordon really went to work on it and i can't back those guys. How cool to win in michigan for ford and midst in the to get a second one of the season so ryan. We were just talking before you came on about how intense race looked. What was it like inside of the car yesterday. Yeah was intense You know you guys talked earlier that you know there was a moment in time. We're handful cars lead They can get away from each other. you know. I don't see that at michigan. Usually you know we'll be bunched up on a restart but it kind of will spread out and it was just really intense racing. Made restarts super important. I mean they're reporting everywhere Each weekend but You know when you have to to really think about what lane going to choose how you're going to be committed to the guy in front of you Get up through the gears. Good and just do that. First lap or to clean Tried out to break your momentum really sex you up so very intense racing michigan People there and then they were really excited. But yeah crazy racing in there. I mean it's almost like speedway you know you talk about you know talladega and daytona. That place has so much grip if so wide near. There's so much on throttle time. You have to raise it kinda like speedway and we did a good job by spotted..

"Legendary figure. Al davis was owner of the oakland raiders at the time before they became the los angeles raiders. And now they lost vegas rates but anyway. I digress. al davis was famous for coining. The phrase just win baby. And that is what ron blaney has done this year. He's won twice but that leads the pack at teen penske. Jeff hammond is he now. The lead sled dog at team. Penske well if you look at the numbers you've gotta kinda debating that yes he is but when you look at the overall i think performance from leading racism being in a position to command respect right. Now i'd say no. He still is not a dominating force week in and week out because this even like yesterday he hung around and in the end he got eight laps in their leading. This relatedness race. But he got the. W and i think that's where he's weakest is it and and it may not be training could be ford as a whole because they're still not force against chevrolet like they have been in the past so combination of all the above. No ryan is not the lead dog right now. Even though brad's leaving he is not going to surpass. In my opinion. You're joya ghana brad. We've talked about this before. I feel like ryan blaney has gotten a lot of conversation over the years more than what winning six races should get you am i am i wrong. I don't think so. But i do think he's been competitive. I mean you look at his career and pretty much every season. he's been top fiving about a third of the year even though he'd only made single trips to victory lane he's still been a part of the conversation. He's lead twenty three hundred laps in his career. Which is a lot you know. So he has spent time out front. And when you're running out front you're going to get talked about when you're in the top five you're going to get talked about granted. Having six wins in five seasons. Now isn't the same numbers that we had seen. Other people put up a really outside of chase elliott. Are we seeing anyone else. Put up those types of numbers of the people who have come in and about the same time in the sport. Well it took chase elliott. What one hundred races before he finally won and then he broke through in a big way. I like eriksson as you look at. What brian blain is done where he sits as we head to daytona. Wrap up the regular season two wins. He secured a nice spot. Can we look at that team and go okay legitimate championship team or legitimate team. That can get into the round of eight. Yeah i mean. I think You know he certainly not a favorite of. That's for sure. I agree with everything. That jeff hammond said about where he sits within that team. I think if you look at yesterday A lot of of of what he to get that win was was luck you know he was able to get the inside lane. He got a huge huge push from eighteen. We saw all day long that it really depended on if you had a good pusher behind you and he just so happened to have a good pusher behind him Granted a win is a win and he has to now in that fantastic. But i'm not sure we can yet call him You know a legitimate title contender Or even a favourite heading into this this playoff season. We'll have to see what happens. You know things sometimes. Tides change and You know his team could step it up and they could. They could Tape over that Title but as of right now. I don't see that happening. I do want to add one thing though to the question that you pose to brad about why there was so much talk about him. I think obviously you have to look at his family lineage. But you also have to look at the fact that he was able to put the wood brothers back in victory lane in it narrow where they hadn't been in victory lane very much and i think that was something that really put him on the map as well before he moved over to that full-time and he rod good point. Also think his personality. He's got a certain charm. He knows his way around social media. I think he capitalized with his long running friendship with bubble wallace's not hurt him. And also there's there's a lot of factors there and you know good looking fellow so long hair i think. Does he have brown on. This is like the great bill elliott. You say after he'd win a race. Well it's a combination. So i don't know why remember that brad galli team penske right now is still brad keselowski. Joey logano and ryan blaine. Who just wanted michigan. When i say those three names to any of them pop out to you as legitimate title contenders for this year. I don't know that you can deny any of them. Look what happened last year's playoffs team. Penske everything worked out for them because they were the best on the short tracks. And we've got five races with short-track package actually more than that because we actually have it at darlington. We've got bristol. we've got richmond. we got phoenix. We've got martinsville They were clearly dominant there last year. And i think they're showing up again this year when it comes to that the playoffs are going to have a much different. Look than i feel what we saw throughout most of the summer. and if they're kinda hitting a good stride with that absolutely. I mean they two cars in the championship round last year and You know brackets. Laskey came pretty close to winning a second championship in that. So you're telling me there's a chance. I think there's better than a chance that's fascinating. That's that is the eternal glass. Half full brad gillian. That's why we love him so much coming up little race. Track tucked away in the north carolina heels. Jeff hammond spent some time there over the weekend. We'll talk.

"Bad times. Well i'm kinda gonna pick something contrary to to jeff him and i'm gonna pick arm because i think as much as he is breathing cyber relief heading into daytona knowing that he's locked in I'm sure he's still not happy with where he stands. And that's because you know go into a race track. I think most of the pre ratio was centered around how dominant kevin. Harvick has been at michigan And i don't know What was going on with that team. Yesterday but dominance was definitely not You know in their lexicon they. They finished fourteenth. I believe they didn't have a very good day at all Didn't run up front. So i think they have to still be trying to figure out do i. Are we hitting the panic button yet or not. I think they should have been doing it a few weeks ago. But we'll see And i'm gonna pick another kind of low hanging fruit and austin dillon. obviously yesterday. He had what he dubbed a rocket. Ship very very fast car in the opening stages of that race and then an unfortunate incident with brad keselowski took him out in a very hard hit thankfully he was okay but really made it a must win situation for him in daytona. Good thing is you know he. He has experienced a really good experience and superspeedway racing. And i often don't has a very good chance at coming home with the wind in daytona and possibly punching his ticket to the playoffs but it certainly puts him in a much more stressed build situation than he would have been had. He got a good finish or even a win at michigan by the way bonus points for alexis for working the word lexicon. I love that that was awesome. Brad nearly bad times from michigan. Well we'll go off the austin dillon. And say his teammate. Tyler tolerated you know for having the tire down at the end of the race. Tyler had an opportunity to make up a lot more points on his teammate. He's plus twenty five but he really didn't make up much You know when it came to the finish of that ratio. An opportunity lost in that particular situation. But also ross chastain man. What kind of bad luck to you. Have to lose an axle and then worse look to then get a penalty and be without your car chief. This weekend at daytona. So that's a really tough blow for that team who really has shown a lot of signs of life here recently. Jeff wrap it up. I'm going to start off real quick. Carl larsen he leads. All those laps looked like he's got the dominant car and in the end like you say making the wrong decision. Been in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was not able to capitalize on what was an outstanding effort by him and his number five car and overall almost stick with the same theme. Say hey hendrick. Motorsports the whole. It wasn't just kyle larson. There were two other teammates or were very very fast and one even finished second. But still hendrick motorsports let one slip through their hands. I think the other day so I feel like a bad time. Bad situation all the way round. I think you'll have a hard time finding people to attend a pity party for hendrick motorsports by the way our show is brought to you. By blue emu blue emu. Maximum pain relief. The official pain relief cream of nascar. It works fast. And you won't stink. We're going to talk about penske. Racing and ryan blaney in particular when become back. Do you use the expensive blue or yellow pills to charge your sex life. Are you thinking about it. What if we can promise you the same results for less than three dollars. A pill if you're paying twenty dollars a pill for the other pills..

"Be in. I think that's you know a salad always should be have to have both of them. I think if you're to to people who clashed a lot The same personalities that can sometimes be good but sometimes it can be a little rough. But that's that's where i wanted. Start in someone who can obviously all were. They've very open minded on listening to your ideas what you have to say. I know about the race cars and integrating him. So that's that's never been an issue but now kind of that. That personality side that i talked about is i may for me personally. There used to be a day. Nascar drivers could just not even care about road courses. they go. Oh there's two of my show up. I don't care. We don't even have a playoff format doesn't matter not a big deal anymore. They've got like seven thousand of them now so you can't just ignore them on the schedule anymore. And here's ryan blaney to talk about that. I think it just makes everybody put a bigger emphasis on the road quiz program. You know we're not just going to a year And then he didn't you know before the role came about. You didn't have any of the playoffs so it's like. Oh these are two races year you know. Obviously they're big win them. But i don't think teams put as much emphasis on them as far as now. We have seven now and one of them's in the playoffs so really close together. You know it's nice to have back to back this weekend or the next two weeks so i think it makes the drivers really pay attention more to it You know really spend a lot of time here the simulator. That's been doing stuff this morning so we spent a lot of time here just working on on the road for stuff because they are very important. I mean there's.

Yeah but you always want the name and right gotten good name and you can charge. Whatever it's like a gucci or whatever you can got a name charge whatever you want one hundred percent nobu. Is this super overpriced. I will say the setting though of that. Malibu like a right on. The water is really something off the really nice in the building in location with prime time but It was not not worth it. I don't think not worth hold on my favorite part of that story. Is that the guy who races probably the most. Is it a mustang. That you're driving you you're you're with ford mustang trumpster. Yeah so they roll of you you drive. Probably the most souped up mustang that exists in the world. And then you get a ford fusion which is completely out of the of the spectrum. I don't think mustang when a bit in the car that were there. I mean there was i remember. I pulled up all night. I've been wrong by the worst part. Was i went to the frigging ballet valley down there like dude. You're the raw like hill. This place right now. They're like are you applying for the job of valet parker. Is that what. "Welcome to green eggs in dan where i interview amazing people with amazing minds but all i care about is what is in their fridge guys today. Exciting ryan blaney is our first professional athlete on the podcast. He is a third generation racer and one of the best nascar drivers in the game constantly in the top ten mostly in the top five and just this year blaney one in atlanta which made all the cast of the netflix show. The crew go insane speaking of which he has appeared in my show the crew and we all hated him because his comedy chops weirdly better than all of ours and it made us all feel very insecure ryan. Welcome to the podcast. Thanks for having me and Man yeah those were good memories those up there working. Maybe guys knows it was very strange. Because you know. We're acting with kevin james which is intimidating for us as is because he's like he's kevin james and then we have all these guest stars that are actual nascar. Drivers come in and do spots and no offense to the other guys but are fricking awful. Okay it's fun. It's fun to watch them kind of stumbled through acting and then you came on and it was like we were all like wait a second. Is this guy in actor or is he. An actual rate is a double for ryan blaney and it was very strange for us that you were so good and i urge everyone to go on netflix. Watch ryan's performances. because you're you're subtle. Comic timing was was creepy. Good man. I appreciate that you know i That was a lot of fun man. I i really enjoyed you. Guys were great. It was a pleasure to meet everybody. everyone really enjoyed the crew from you know who i talked to and You never know. Maybe we'll all get the gang back together again. Yeah i'm time but yeah i I was like an easy job. Because they're like yeah. Just be yourself but be more like a jerk. Okay jerk so yeah that was like thousands pretty laid back. It was kind of fun and it was. It was very nice to meet you. I mean you know. Ah most of the most of the people on the show. We've never met nascar drivers before. And i mean a lot of us were new to the sport and it was so exhilarating to watch but i remember like the first. You know the first nascar race. That we watched was the indy five hundred from last year. Which was there was an insane crash and like there was gasoline and you were involved and everyone. We were all like we were. I don't know if we have the stomach for the sport man. It was way too intense. You know they're putting you every every sport every profession has its unique things about it right. I mean no matter what it is you to be as four but Yeah it's just something. I grew up. My dad raised the for a long time. Like my and my grandfather do so. I grew up watching racing enjoying it and and been really fortunate enough to make a career out of it. like my family is done so And his led the cool opportunities going to crew. "And really really been influenced thing since they've been around isn't twelve and. To get to meet him. And just talk to them for ten fifteen minutes that was that was really cool just one on one. He's no joke. It'd be we'll talk about now his intensity level when he was playing even now I see him really intense. And that was that was cool. We gave him a body armor firesuits from what I ward Indianapolis. He wouldn't fit in it. But now super amazing guy trying to get them out to a race. But perfect guy for that brand go-getter and. I think that was that was really cool. So I I love watching him growing up, and I was cool to meet someone like that you get star struck with guys like that you try not to a little bit. When you when you really look. You know, when you watch those other athletes play when you were a kid now to to meet them when you're a little more grown up that was super cool to me. But you just try to be casual a nice to tomb. He was he was the same way with me, which was very very cool him. And last question, how do you plan to attack the new start finish line here at Phoenix? Yes, different. You know? It's really different. We only made a few laps there. And in the first practice discount. Your visual representation of everything is is way different like going down the new backstretch, which was the old French stretches. There's no grandstands there anymore. So that's that's kind of weird coming off that corner going on the frustration. Nothing's there. You're right. But I do like it. I was driving in this morning. And you kind of go over this big bridge and used to be able to just see the back of the grandstands. And now you see the whole front and is very open. I thought that was a really cool. Look kinda shows you that there's a racetrack here not just back of grandstands. So that was really cool. But yeah, I think not only the finish line is going to be interesting, but the re-start zone you're kinda right in the middle of the corner right in the middle of three and four. So it's gonna be weird. It's gonna be crazy. I'll be watching. You know, both races are going to see how it plays out. If you're like in the fifth or sixth back, you're going to be like getting into turn three by the time, the leaders go. So that'll be it'd be weird. I think tomorrow we're actually having some restart practice are going to allow some time to kind of get everything feeling right. So get a small idea before they throw us out there with forty of us. All right. Ryan blaney. Thanks so much for the time being on the final up nicely..

"Find the final weekly click subscribing like said, you'll have autumn delivered to your device, which is nice and most these places have a feature where you can review us. Give us a five rating. Let us know how great we're doing and for not doing so good. Just don't worry about it move on. Yeah. Just ignore that part. We don't wanna hear about any four star reviews. No, definitely not we want five and above so five and above is the requirement. Otherwise, you're not allowed to listen to us anymore. Seriously. Why are you even listening? If you don't think it's five star wool. No, don't well. We'll reach in and grab your eardrums. That sounds painful the exactly so you don't want that wish upon yourself right now. Definitely I have a feeling Kerry. The you know, Jimmy Johnson had a really bad year last season. And you're hoping for big return. I think we're gonna have some Jimmy Johnson the show this week. Just got a feeling I can feel it in my loins. Well. There was a sign. I was given a sign this week. And I'm checking out my phone, and I what's the weather like in the area. Oh, okay. That's good. That's you know, LA's pretty pretty night. Oh, wait a minute for the next seven days. The low is forty eight. Yeah. So what you're telling me is that you're able to Photoshop your weather for the week. But you weren't able to change the background to white in your photo for the hard card this year. Exa-? Well, yeah, you're blaming me for something that I could possibly not do in the amount of time needed. I just don't have that kind of time. I am just far too lazy? Why would I do that? That literally is a screen shot from the weather from my area and the low for the entire week full seven days is forty eight degrees. That's my sign. That's that's why on this show later on. We will have a Jimmy Johnson. Bowl while since we've heard the old bonanza. That's nice. Yeah. We had a dust that off we had a dust that off. Hey, also, we've we should Pat ourselves on the back. We've done a remarkable job of keeping the fresh interviews coming. That means that back, Texas and Phoenix we did. So many interviews that it is literally lasted us until this week where we don't have an interview. So what I thought is I'm gonna pick my favorite interview from last year that I did and the next week. I'll give you some time to think about it. It'll lead Toby's pick. So this week. Ryan Blaney my favorite interview from last year. Wow. You know instead of that. If we didn't want to recycle something that has been done before we could just been an entire interview segment going down the sponsorship package.
