A highlight from Climate Change Reality Check

"Yeah, we're not going to support the police officers. We're going to have high taxes and high regulations and tell you exactly what to do, including making sure you've got a face diaper strapped to your chin. Oh, and you don't want to do business here? Oh, oh, and by the way, the only people that are thriving are the ones that are not listening to your regulations. The ones that are stealing stuff, those are the only ones that are doing well. That's a shocker. All right, welcome back to the Financial Guys podcast. Thanks for listening in. We do appreciate it. Thanks for the downloads. If you like what you hear, give us a thumbs up and share it with your friends. It's the only way we're going to get the conservative message out. Of course, Glenn Wiggle, Mike Lomas. We are the Financial Guys. We've been doing this now for 20, almost going on 26 years pretty soon here, so a lot to go through today. I've got some great clips as well. They're bringing it back, Mike. We'll start with that, I guess. Well, I've heard that rumor a few times, so to give credit. Sometimes the right can be a little bit crazy, too, because this has happened about three or four times. I will say, though, the funniest part about this, this is the funniest part, is the amount of internet warriors, social media warriors, that are like, I'll tell you what, I'm not complying this time. Bullshit. Bullshit. That's right. Exactly. When there's 500 people in Wegmans and I'm the only one without a face diaper, I'm not buying it until you actually show up. The fact that we have the amount of actual studies now, though, it got away with it the first time because it was all new. We didn't know it was a novel coronavirus. It's not so novel anymore. And you can't blame some people. No, it's not novel anymore, though. It's not new anymore. And so now we've had three years of research, and guess what that research has shown? They did a... How about the Vax, they're still pushing the booster shot. But on the Mask of Cologne... How many people need to die? They did a study of all the studies. It was like the end -all, be -all of studies. It was like the highest level of blind, whatever. Like the Poland's blizzard study? Not that one, but the actual study. No, like it, though. Like it. And they came out with a study, and what they showed of looking at all these different things is that no benefit at all. We knew that, right? We talked about no benefit at all. So now we have actual research for no benefit at all for the masks. It was crushing people's immune system. You were way more likely to get it with it. And we know that people that are getting vaccinated, especially young males, have a higher chance and risk of myocarditis than they have of actually getting sick from the infection. Why are we even talking about it? So now that we have the data, the fact that they're still... So here's why I know this. Yes, there's some right -wing folks out there that are like, oh my God, it's coming. But okay, so a central New York hospital has brought back masking requirements. Rutgers University is going back to masking and vaccination requirements. There's many colleges across the country that are going back to this. You're starting to see the news articles start to talk about this, right? They're starting to implant it in the psyche of what are we going to do this winter, right? Must be some elections coming up. And exactly. And we have an election coming up. They're going to do it again. They're going to try to do it again is exactly what they're going to do. To your point, and I don't want to switch into gears like this, but it doesn't matter with the Democrats any facts, okay? No. Listen to this. This is John Kerry. Oh, I got a clip for that. This is John Kerry five years ago. Okay, I'll play it real quick. Scientists predict we will have the first ice -free ice, which is melting sea ice, which is melting at a rate the Arctic Ocean now increasingly is exposed. In five years, scientists predict we will have the first ice -free Arctic summer. So by 2014, we were going to have the first ice -free Arctic summer. The opposite happened, by the way. There's a record amount of ice out there right now, a record amount of ice. So when you talk about, like, amnesia and how stupid these people are, and there's no other, I don't even like to use that word, but when it comes to dummy -crats, they really are dumb. Well, look at the housing crisis. Look at the housing crisis. You had Barney Frank out there going, we, homes are no problem at all. We're not talking about some dot -com company here. We're talking about homes. These are not bound to save ebb and flows at the stock market, right? This is home ownership. So he pushed it and they pushed it and they pushed it and they passed laws and they passed bills. And then they said, I never said that.

Rutgers' unions ratify new contracts, formally ending strike

"Unions at Rutgers university ratify new contracts formally ending a teacher's strike. Three faculty unions that include thousands of professors part time lecturers and graduate student workers at Rutgers overwhelmingly approved four year contracts that include across the board raises and additional job security for part time lecturers along with significant raises and job security provisions for graduate students. This formally ends the first such job action in the school's 257 year history. The union staged a 5 day strike as students were finishing their spring semester and preparing for finals and commencement. It began April 10th after months of negotiation had failed to resolve disputes. I'm Julie Walker

"Little light in the front. I don't like their front court. I think if they get matched up against a team that can kind of dominate them there, they're gonna be in trouble, but you know, it's good if death be interesting. And I'm excited to see just kind of how things start to play out, you know, in the conference tournament, and then into dance, the seatings, because I think, especially early on, match ups is gonna have a lot to do with it. Kentucky, by the way, just to get some live updates, Kentucky up 1910 early against Tennessee, live betting odds at bed MGM sportsbook, of course, 5 and a half, Kentucky, a 5 and a half point live favorite with an early 9 point lead. We have Virginia up by 5 points, 53, 48 live betting odds. -6 and a half for Virginia Rutgers up by 5 50 to 45 over Wisconsin four and a half points is the number live Rutgers laying the four and a half and then laying four and a half again, Illinois up by 6, almost an identical score to Rutgers, Wisconsin, 50 to 44 against Indiana. So a lot of interesting live betting gods there, guys. Anything stand out? Yeah, that Rutgers game for me is going back and forth. It's now 54 52 Wisconsin in that game with 5 minutes left. Wow. First leg of our parlay, I knew it would be tight. I'm doing it. That's what you want though, if you want a team on the road in a game like that, keep it plate until the end, make your shots, get it down like you want to shorten a game to a couple possessions, get to the line, you know, the people up and take the money home, and that's what it's all about. But I think the closer they keep this within one or two possessions, the better Rutgers is gonna look. Yeah, thank you also got UConn only four of us overseen all. At home, up by four right now, up by four. That's it, day in the line is 8 and a half, which jumped at. Yukon Lang 8 and a half. Yeah, would you do that one way or the other? 8 and a half. Attempting to take the 8 and a half, but I probably probably staying away from it. 'cause it hasn't been more than it hasn't been over 8 the whole entire game. Like 8 and a half. The entire game has been within for 5, 6 points. It's never gotten up to 8 and a half, so I'm surprised it's still that hot. I would lace it. I mean, I would take the point to seat and haul just because if there's scoring, then, you know, they're probably gonna be able to keep it competitive, right? Like that was kind of like the, I think if they're, you know, the knock on them would be like if they were not able to get to the bucket and not be able to score with Yukon, you know, would they be able to hang in there? All right, well, we'll update everyone, continue to update you in all of the live college hoops,

"Me You've probably told this story probably 10,000 times But it is a really incredible harrowing story of what the Gary Gordon and Randy shughart and you went through in that really dreadful day in Mogadishu Can you just give us kind of the rundown of what you went through I mean it's really incredible story Sure I'd be happy to I was in doth in last week by the way and I'm surprised I didn't run across your uncle but if I go back down there I'll have to track him down And then all the folks there said the same thing They loved it there and it's where the flight school is for the army for Rutgers right close to there So very familiar with that area So back to your question It's been portrayed in the movie Blackhawk down the book by cart down I have my own New York Times Best Seller that I wrote that really fills in a lot of the gaps That down didn't cover But in essence this was a special ops mission all the usual suspects delta four SEAL Team 6 my unit the one 60th army rangers We're going in there to capture We were supposed to capture a list of 50 And these were terrorists They were actually connected to Al-Qaeda in 93 no one had even heard of Al-Qaeda but we found out after the fact that Al-Qaeda was involved So arguably it's the first time we sort of went head to head with Al-Qaeda Regardless we're performing these operations We've done 6 They've all gone really well Captured a little over half of the people that we were supposed to capture including the number two guy And the problem is that you're going to be adapts just like everything else in life You can't run the ball up the middle a hundred times The defense is going to do better on the 20th time So the fact that we had done the mission that number of times really reduced our probability of success and I think contributed greatly to the fact that the smallies were better prepared for us on October 3rd Day mission worst part of town all the bad guys are there Just the risk factors were

withdrawn from the competition With a Bloomberg sports update on Frank gehry This is balance and power with David Weston What do you think about infrastructure in our country We really haven't seen major investment in roads and bridges from the federal government We do have to make a statement that China that they're not being citizens on the world stage Where the world of politics beats the world of business With COVID with the extra demands that people leaving the profession there was a nursing shortage business leaders They're all concerned about what worked from home is doing to the cultures of their companies The power with David Weston on Bloomberg radio Coming up this hour a new mayor for the new year My conversation with Eric Adams on bringing the city back despite the resurgence of COVID-19 Plus school systems struggling with the latest omicron version of the virus with former education secretary Arne Duncan and I talked with doctor Rick bright of the Rockefeller foundation about lessons from the pandemic that can help us respond better to the next one But first one year ago this week the nation and the world watched in horror as a mob of Donald Trump supporters attacked the U.S. capitol the very symbol of our democracy Rioters charged through the building as Congress was performing one of its key constitutional duties certifying the results of the 2020 presidential election for Joe Biden Encouraged by then president Trump who falsely claimed the election was illegitimate Despite the invasion Congress ultimately returned to certified Biden's victory After the attack last year I spoke to former Homeland Security secretary J Johnson for his reaction to what happened on that day But this year I brought him back for his view of what we know now that we didn't know then I am anxious to know exactly what people in our government knew leading up to January 6th When I was secretary we used to say in public statements there is no specific credible threat leading up to a specific event based upon the public reporting of what we know now It does seem as though there was a specific credible threat leading up to January 6th known by various officials of our government yet the government as a whole failed to act on it We do know how to secure the U.S. capitol whether it's a State of the Union address or an inauguration we know how to secure the perimeter of the U.S. capitol but for whatever reason our government failed to do that in anticipation of this event That is still an unknown question in my judgment David So given the fact that that's unknown are we safer is the capital safer today than it was a year ago Well I'm afraid our government did what it often does We were caught flat footed we were caught unanticipated And now we've corrected over corrected for the problem I am quite sure that it all future similar events are capital will have adequate security around it But what I used to say to people at Homeland Security is you've got to plan for the next attack not the last attack And the January 6th attack in my judgment was the tip of an iceberg The underlying extremist strands that converge on that capital have not gone away And therefore Homeland Security the FBI local law enforcement need to be vigilant in anticipating when this iceberg might emerge might surface Again at some other large public gathering whether it's a political rally whether it's an event of the U.S. government we need to be vigilant in anticipating what the future might look like here Jane pick up on those extremist threads if you would because I wonder whether in your experience it is morphed It is changed over time when you were secretary of Homeland Security I know there were real concerns about domestic terrorism And some of the fringe groups domestically To what extent did we see perhaps on January 6th and going forward Some of that extremism become more mainstream If we look at the people who have been arrested so far a lot of them look like regular Americans Yeah There was a very interesting interview with professor Robert Peyton of the University of Chicago who's done a lot of interesting work on the demographics of those who converged on the capitol that day And what he and others are finding is that many of them actually came from blue states not red states many of them actually came from states and counties that voted for Joe Biden in 2020 where the white population in those counties is diminishing and people of color in those counties are on the rise And these groups these people feel threatened by that They're motivated by the so called great replacement theory that somehow people of color are taking over and that the white race somehow feels feels threatened That is a strand of nationalism extremism that is not new But I think you're right in that it is somehow becoming more conventional and more mainstream to express that type of hate out in the open Which in my judgment goes to the heart of a threat to our very democracy And to that point I wonder what credence you put in some of the polling we're seeing coming out right now I'll mention two Reuters has one It was an online survey But it suggests that there's only 34% of Americans now think it might be acceptable to have violent action against U.S. government and polls particularly of Republicans suggest about a third Republicans really don't think there was much that was violent done on January 6th at all Correct And there are polls that show that a majority of Republicans believe that somehow the election was stolen And you don't get those points of view from reading mainstream media I think social media has a lot to do with this And Americans increasingly are allowed to become effectively unhinged from reality in their views And in their views of the facts in addition to the numbers you just cited I saw a poor recently that 15% which is one in 6 Americans now ascribed to the QAnon theory That our government our media financial services are controlled by Satan worshiping pedophiles One out of 6 Americans That is an alarming fact and a really really dangerous number that should have us all concerned about the very fabric of our democracy and our institutions in this country Thanks to former Homeland Security secretary J Johnson coming up the challenge of teaching our.

"So okay. So yeah gotcha. Problem for ohio state man. Joey bosa or chase young now coming through that door and if if they are they're going to be sitting there to watch the game to be suiting up and playing there is no chased young knicker. Joey bosa type of impact player defensive end for the ohio. State buckeyes now. They've had an awesome recruiting class. I think they have like two or three of the top defensive players in the class of twenty twenty one but they haven't really seen much of the field yet they really haven't had the had the chance to make an impact yet so right now their defense i know they have a lot of freshmen in the secondary but look man based on their performance on the field. Ohio state is not the best team in the conference. Take away the names. In jersey. In the history in the digital based on performance penn state which has to victories over top twenty schools including a road win against wisconsin. There better football team right now. Michigan running the football. I know they. Have you know questions about the quarterback but from top to bottom. I think they've been a better football team then. Ohio state. The season michigan state has played better football despite the difference in at margin than ohio state on the great thing is because of the talent that ohio state hath is going to be easy for them to get things correct and they have them catch up and surpass teams like michigan state or team by iowa or team like michigan or even possibly team like penn state. But i don't know man. I don't know i you know the tackling for ohio state has not been good they haven't been able to consistently get teens off of the field and third dams and if you take a look remaining schedule akron supposed to be a layup. Akron supposed to be again right team. They're going to be playing that they should beat sixty two nothing and everybody go woo problem. Solve good things are in good. Times are ahead of us. But wasn't that same deal with tulsa so you play akron at home when you go on the road to play rutgers and this is not. This is not your best friend records teams. This is great. She'll part dear rutgers team which is much better than they play maryland in there at indiana. Then they're penn state then they're at nebraska purdue michigan state then on the road for the game against michigan. So i guess for the rest of the year you could say glass. Half full fake assay. Ohio state can go tin into the season. Glass half empty or michigan fan can say that You know ohio state you can go seven and five or eight and four either way or not making the playoffs that that's going to be the record so again. This doors open for a team. Like penn state. A team like A team like iowa in a team might michigan. Wendell's world in sports. I'm your host wonder wallace. Glad you could be with us. Let me end segment by talking about the underwhelming. Oklahoma sooners beating nebraska. Twenty three sixteen still waiting for. Oh you play a complete game to what experts think. The team should be playing in fact. I'm i'm really not feeling the juice on this. Can i have. Can you feed me a little something here. Hold on can you. Can you give me a little something. I need a little. Pick me up from this. I need a little pick me up. I'm speaking about nebraska schema. Speaking about oklahoma can.

A New Jersey student says he has been barred from taking classes because he has not. Been vaccinated and you go. Well, Probably a lot of people getting that. Yeah, except this guy, Logan Holler. Isn't going to class. He's doing his work on his computer at home. He's working remotely. But the problem is, is that some of his classmates are attending classes. It's not like a fully remote class. So they say that he has to get vaccinated because of that, even though he's not going in, right. He was locked out of his Rutgers, Um, is that he was locked out of his email. And related college accounts. You want to pay his tuition at the end of last month and was told that he needs to be vaccinated. Even though he doesn't attend in person. He said. I'll probably have to transfer to a different university and probably he'll be working from home so he needs to find another college to not attend. And if he he doesn't have a problem with people getting vaccinated, he said. It's fine with him, but You know, he doesn't think people should be pushed to get vaccinated. Well, not if you're not going there, and he doesn't care if he even has access to campus. He says. I don't need to be there. They could ban me. I just want to be left alone. "Now they keep promoting Fauci all over the corrupt media. And they keep using Fauci to attack regular American citizens. No, They know how often Fauci has been. Sort of the real life Professor Irwin Corey. They know how he's often contradicted himself. How is often politicized. Science doesn't mean he has have been right now and then, But that's not the point. You need to be right all the time. Particularly you're going to make definitive statements like foul she does. If you're going to play ruler of the world, whether it's the economy, whether it is lifestyle or whatever else it is. Richard Ebright is a molecular biologist at Rutgers University. And these newly found documents, he said. Obtained the Freedom Information Act request made it clear that Fauci has been quote unquote untruthful about gain of function research. The documents make it clear that assertions by the NIH director Francis Collins. The N A. I D Director Anthony Fauci. College Football Bets: Week 1

"On. Espn dot com chuck section. I've given them out daily wager. But you know we'll rip through a few here i want to start with. Ecu this numbers come down a little bit. They play thursday night against appalachian state and look. I think he's us live dog. Jay vermont talked about it as well. They have a bunch of veterans including senior quarterback and app. State's been a little shaky as well. And they have a new quarterback and chase. Bryce you might remember him. He played a key. Clemson then transferred to duke ten and a half a lot of points for team that always seems to pull games out of the hat and have crazy place at the end. I like myself getting double digits plus ten right now but still i would out jumping on on ec as long as you get double digits and maybe a little sprinkle on the money line. That could be some fun The came by actually liked the most Kinda scared about it and it's umass and everybody who listen to pod on a somewhat regular basis knows. I'm kind of the betting bully as humans. A frequent guest. Your calls me. I like to bet on bet against bad teams. Just just do it right. Like orioles season win total under. I've certainly bet against umass in the past but thirty eight is just way too many points. And i'll tell you why won't bell and umass went out and got a bunch of transfers. Their quarterback is a six foot five inch from from colorado like the university of and or colorado university of boulder. And they have two running backs that transferred in one from rutgers. So a team that was like. Fcs not too long ago or fcs quality has some real players and you only have to get thirty eight now pits good. But they're at tennessee. The following week nerd uzis not a guy who's going to run up the score. He's old school. Fourth quarter they'll bring in the is a little bit and on top of that. Probably the best handy angle. I have is the offense coordinator for pit is a guy named mark whipple. He's coached umass twice head coach. Also the most recent time was just a few years ago. This is not situation where he wants to embarrass his former program. Umass is a special place in his heart. Whipple's going to call off the dogs as well. So i just think if you can get about two touchdowns even if it's garbage time i think plus thirty eight is the play in. That game is crazy. As it sounds another game. I like is essentially a coin. Flip game and it syracuse minus one. And a half. you might remember. I've talked about it with jay motto. The over three in the win total. They're going to split time at quarterback. Babies made that announcement. I don't love it. I would prefer. Tommy devito to be the entire time but dual threat with michigan state. Sorry mississippi state transfer garrett schrader. They're just better at a lot of positions that ohio but most importantly syracuse addressed. Their offense align issues. There was a pathetic. Offense couldn't even average average about two hundred fifty yards per game. Not passing just total yards per game. The veto would be injured. A lot spent a lot of time on his back. If they're okay on the offensive line this is just a syracuse team. That's just better. No more frank. Solich at ohio. Bob cats will rotate. Quarterbacks curtis rourke. Who's obviously the brother of nathan rourke the former stud bob cats quarterback and then armani rogers transfer from unlv. Ohio's very good. They looked good last year against the too bad teams really bad teams in the mac akron bowling green. But i think use gets there which is better talent especially with vito healthy and maybe we hope and improved offensive line. Fourth play i want to talk about

The time women had serious. Barriers to access college education endowments for women's colleges were much lower than those of their male counterparts. Supreme Court Ends Biden’s Eviction Moratorium

"So now the by administration has been extending a federal eviction moratorium to protect tents struggling to pay their rent during the pandemic but now the moratorium is over really truly over. That's because the supreme court ruled last week. That the cbc has overstepped its at and that the moratorium to continue congress. We'd need to authorize it but that's unlikely to happen as house. press secretary. jen psaki told reporters on friday. What we're trying to do here is prevent people from being evicted from their homes. If there were enough votes to pass an eviction moratorium in congress it would have happened. It hasn't happened and while the white house says it's working with states on solutions. hundreds of thousands potentially millions of tenants across the country are now at risk of losing their homes including tenants in the state of new york. We're more than eight hundred. Thirty thousand households are behind on their rent. We're joined today by sia weaver campaign coordinator of housing justice for all in new york. Sia welcome to the takeaway. Extre having me also with us. Peter hepburn assistant professor of sociology at rutgers university newark and part of the eviction lab at princeton university. Peter welcome back to the shell on sia from your perch. What's the significance of this supreme court ruling. Well that's really just devastating as you said eight hundred thirty thousand households are more really are behind on rent in new york and seventy seven percent of them are people of color. The thing that's most painful about all of this as our state also has two point seven billion dollars in rental assistance. Money meant to solve this problem and we've been unable to spend it so this is a a real wave of addiction. That should be preventable. But for some reason has not been prevented.

"Ready to invest serious dollars in so it's a hard long wrote yet. I mean it's brand new. You know. I just got approved as a nonprofit and the five. Oh one c. Three like a month ago You know on that that's difficult now. It's a process. I mean the whole thing is a process. And i guess that's what gets frustrating too. 'cause it's like all of these people that want to come and do it and it's like oh my gosh like there is such a demand for this and this could be such an amazing thing. But it's just you know finding the right people who want to invest into it. And now i'm trying to find grants and do stuff like that to get money and i mean there's ways it's just you know grants also costs money to play variety. So yeah so it's like you know a good grant writer though that's the key then. They can pretty much write any grants south. There's almost a an art. Yeah so i mean if you can find somebody like that that can help you in that process. I think the struggle is real. Because you're trying to set up a program you're really passionate about it and i can hear it in your voice now because now. It sounds like you have found your drive. The thing that's going to motivate you and yet there's this thing called money that's holding it up and and yet what you may have to do. Is the prime the pump by allowing individuals to come in and shape your program in a very different way in the beginning of may not be what you're in game is but phase one of what you're you're where you're headed so your vision is here but you have a phase right now that you're going to have to go through where you may have to charge. Maybe a little bit more from the individual so they have a stake in the game or something to to come in because it is a fiber one c. Three but unfortunately we can only pay for this much and you have to pay for your trip. You have to pay for your lodging you have to pay for it to have a little bit of skin in the game and we also asked for you to make a small donation of x. And that helps prime. That pump gets the exposure puts the word out there. The word of mouth is starts coming. Hey i went through this program that they don't start to track him because people are going to want to see a proof of concept you know. Have you really done this. That's the hard part right. It comes to big donors. These the modalities outside of what the va offers is. It's not insurable or covered by insurance. But it's it's going to be like they're working on this across the country so to justify echoing therapy in animal therapy just like you do art therapy or you know all the other stuff. That's out there. That's not pills and sit on the couch talking to a shrink and it's and it's moving that it's it is moving. It's happening rutgers. University is doing a big study Where they're actually going to blood test the horses and the participants all veterans with ptsd before and after so they're going to have all the hormone levels and they say this is exactly what happens. This is the result. This is the reoccurrence that's what you'd have to grant. Typically that's the kind of stuff that ranch looking so so the industry's moving that way. Yeah it just takes. Time and horses are expensive even if that was all there. I like what you said. And that's the skin in the game. I mean 'cause that's going to be. I mean you know that like. I'm because you're dedicating your time you've got skin in the game for sure and ensuring that the people that are coming in are really dedicated to it so now. Looking.

Why Small Talk is More Important Than You Think

"Remember when you start your day in the office with casual chitchat. How was your weekend. Can you believe this weather planning any trips this summer. It may have seemed trivial but it turns out. There's nothing small about small talk in fact it can be an aid to innovation it can build trust and rapport and just plain happier at work. But what happens to small talk when we're all working from home to learn more about the benefits of small talk and how we can still get them in the now. We went to expert. Dr jessica methods. Dr method is an associate professor of human resource management at rutgers university and a member of the academy of management organizational behavioral division. Here's what dr method had to say. Thanks so much for joining us. Thank you for having me. So you recently published a study on small talk in the workplace now that so. Many of us are in virtual workplaces. How have conversations among co workers changed. This is such an incredibly important conversation. And when we conducted this study it was pre pandemic. we could not have anticipated how disruptive this remote work boom could have been so really in the past decade. We have seen that so many companies have adopted a more open office space designed so. They've really been focused on strategically designing their workspaces to promote spontaneous casual collisions where employees can just bump into each other in the hallway or at the microwave to have small talk and the idea. There is that these informal chats can be released serendipitous. They can help build rapport and trust and collaboration and they create opportunities for creativity and innovation because these employees are talking with people that they wouldn't necessarily have interacted with otherwise but the transition to remote work has really narrowed the focus of our networks. And the people we have exposure to and who we can talk to sewer networks have been narrowed really to our closest connections are family members are very close friends and our supervisor's and those out. On the periphery who we weren't as close with are kind of in this period of suspended animation

Biden Administration Will Not Require COVID-19 Vaccine Passports, White House Says

"Proof will be required for entry. But while schools and businesses may want some documentation, the idea of a vaccine passport is not going to be mandated by the federal government, at least, according to White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki. The government is not Now, nor will we be supporting system that requires Americans to carry a credential. There will be no federal vaccinations database and no federal mandate requiring everyone to obtain a single vaccination. Credential. She did say their concern was with protecting Americans. Privacy colleges like Rutgers, Duke Brown Cornell are requiring students to get vaccinated. Cruise lines like Norwegian and American Queen Steamboat will require all guests and staff to be vaccinated. The MBA announced last week, a partnership with a comedy called Clear, which has developed a health pass AP Clear says it offers covert symptoms surveys but also a way to store test and vaccine data. The Miami Heat has started allowing fully vaccinated people who can prove it. Sit in two sections closer to the court. They still have to wear masks. Last week, the Mets announced they'd also be using clears health passed to confirm a fan's negative covert tests before game attendance. MGM Resorts is also partnering with clear, as is Las Vegas Sands Corporation. And, of course, as you might imagine, the airlines are considering all of this to their trade group. The IA Thia says they've been working on a travel pass. Different countries have different covert restrictions before entering. And while New York was the first state to create a so called vaccine passport with the Excelsior past other states are interested. Hawaii is partnering with clear and the Commons Project Foundation on digital vaccine authentication. IBM is also working on a digital health past using Blockchain technology. Amazon Beats Back Union, but Workplace Technology Questions Remain

"As you've probably heard by now. The effort to unionize an amazon warehouse in bessemer alabama was unsuccessful. Though the union says it will challenge the vote it would have affected just a fraction of amazon's workforce but it captured the attention of the country at a time when e commerce has become a lifeline and the welfare of essential. Workers has come under threat. Janice fine is a professor of labor studies and employment relations at rutgers university. She says the union push at amazon and its defeat highlight the growing role of technology in the workplace. Especially amazon's they use surveillance technology including scanners that workers use to track the rate at which they sort and pack items. Mandatory daily workers surveys a powered camera systems to detect social distancing violations. They use navigation. Software item scanners wristbands thermal cameras. Security cameras recorded footage to survival. The workforce so you have this combination of surveillance for productivity targets and that same surveillance lends itself to being able to monitor workers social activities without a union in place. Then ken workers push back against this kind of stuff. How what kind of tools do they have. Workers are pushing back all over the country. And that's the thing that i think is really important to bear in. Mind that workers in new jersey workers in inland empire in In california workers in chicago these are organizations that have for years. You've been working with amazon. Workers in warehouses and fulfillment centers and just by kind of getting the story out there. They've drawn the country's attention to the problems with amazon's business model. You know by organizing and getting this far getting to an election and so they see this as kind of a long haul fight.

"We'll get back to Michigan basketball because Oh, man, I got some. I got some heat. Watching some of those big time recruits play a guy with Kobe birth skin gets no talk, because we've got all the craziness going on with Michigan High school sports. I think he's gonna be a stud. Frankie Collins that second I got a quick question. I got to get to you before you leave. I don't bet I know. Sports betting is legal now. But I was looking at tonight's Michigan State Rutgers game and Rutgers. The halftime line. Rutgers is only favored by one and I thought with Michigan State coming back. They just got the back. They just got back to practice on Monday. I thought that if I was going to bet that that would be a good bet, taken Rutgers minus 1.5 time line, What do you think? Yes, I would agree with you. And I'm not much of a better either, but I've been you know, I've had so many of my friends tell me about these, You know, beds that are pretty much just free, You know, free money. They're almost giveaways, and we know they are to entice you tow, you know, take that winnings and then bet more. But if you can be smart and just take advantage of these promo is to get the get people involved. I think they're making a lot of easy bets were that's one word. Even if Michigan State hadn't been off for two weeks. I think that might be a safe bet. Even with Rucker struggling a little bit because Michigan State they've got a lot to. They got a lot to work out, and if they don't soon, I'm still confident that they can make the tournament this season. I have a few Michigan state friends who I was talking to the other night who are very worried about that street coming to an end, and that's the I think the third longest streak in history so Again. College basketball. I was watching the Penn State Ohio State game last night was a crazy one Penn State although they choked Oh, almost had a chance. You know, I agree with I agree with you guys, but they're a team where kind of like how Michigan was competitive. And even though we lost a lot of those games close at the end last year, Penn State to team where I think that they're gonna be on the rise. And even though yeah, there'll be a bottom feeder of the Big 10 this year. Way that they're playing a lot of these really good teams stuff. They're going to be better here in the upcoming years, So yeah, man. Well, chop up some big time basketball tomorrow, but, hey, always got room for a Tommy Be story or two. All right. That's Maddie Lynch. Maddie Boom, boom leech. We need to go to a break because we have Austin Meeks on the other side from the athletic You're listening to the end zone.
