"Okay, this is going to be a little bit different episode than we usually do. This is lightning round. We're going to win. Well, this is going to be a variation on that. What does that Drew Carey comedy improv show that they do? Whose line is it? Whose line is it anyway? I don't know if it's like that or not. But for some reason, that pops into my mind. Anyways, we're going to do this. What we've got here is we've got a whole bunch of items that got on the list. They were good enough to get on the list, but then they didn't actually make the cut when we were actually sorting it out to do an episode. And so I figured, let's not throw these away. Let's kind of look at these real quickly. So we're going to do lightning round. We're going to go into another another, and we're going to very quickly talk about them all. All right? And so, and there's 20 of them. So if we spend more than like two minutes on each, this will be way longer than it really ought to be. So we're going to have to shoot you. Yeah, we're going to really move it along. So here we go. All right. Don't make me come up there. All right, here we go. And start the clock. Number one, Mojave airport honors the ruttan name. This is kind of cool. It is. Yeah. Kind of wonder, only thought that strikes me is why didn't they do this before? I guess. But you know, and apparently it's, when I think of rutan, I think a Burt rutan, but specifically they're honoring both rutan brothers, both Bert and dick, which is reasonable. And you know, they're both not no longer spring chickens. They're wanted to honor them while they're still able, and that's kind of cool. David, what do you think? I think it's overdue. Yeah. Yeah. Mojave. Have either of you ever landed at Mojave? I have. I'm sorry, you have, David? Yeah. Yeah, that would be cool. I never landed there. I used to drive past when I was driving from my home in California to Las Vegas or drive right past that airport. There's always a great landmark in the kind of cool. Well, I mean, birch's history goes back to the original very easy. Dick is had a hell of a career as a military pilot and a test pilot and was a co-pilot on the first nonstop flight around the world and spaceship one. Unrefueled nonstop. I know. Unrefueled. So Gina Yeager was along with him. I understand that they have not been close since. They weren't close at the time. Oh, really? Oh, really? Oh, gossip huh? All right, well, man, I don't know. Okay, all right. Well then, all right, then. Well, because so I'm going to award one, oh, I didn't tell you about this part. I'm going to award one point to David because he actually landed at Mojave. So it's taking point. We're making points now. Is that what we're doing? Well, you're yeah. Okay, well, I mean, I prefer, I prefer to think of it as more of an exhibition than a competition. But yeah, yeah. So, all right, then next. David, you put this item on the list. And I recognize you probably put it on a list a long time ago, so maybe it's not fresh in your mind. The item is a new force multiplier. Owner pilot user an owner pilot user group. Is this you remember what this is all about, David? See that again, Jen. What? A new force multiplier. And an owner piler pilot. Pilot user group. Okay. Yeah, it's not type specific like some of the other owner pilot groups. Yeah. It's for anybody that's an owner operator, like jib, like I was when I had the Comanche. And trying to find new ways to get people involved with people who might otherwise just look at it and go. Okay. Could be useful, but it's one of those things that's going to depend on performance rather than naming, so we'll see, give it a month, give it two months, give it a Josh. We'll see if it's having any meetings, any effect, any influence. And then we'll pronounce it for a multiplier. Jeopardy do you think? I think you owe me some points. I don't know. I don't really think that I ought to be rewarding abusive behavior like this. You think that you can just give me a hard time for not being able to speak. But all right, one point for Jeb for abusing the host and all these things will be linked in the show notes folks if you want to look at them in more detail. But coming back to this here, an oddball airplane called the Howard DBA. What do you think? This is really, I mean, I've seen some guppy like airplanes, but this is one of them for sure. A long time listeners know that I'm not a big fan of the A380. This is. Like something you'd see a three year old draw with a crayon. Okay, yes. It's taking anything away from the three year old. Okay. Yeah. But those were listeners who are not going to look this up. This looks like someone took a big, I don't know, the bow of a ship may be lopped off the prow and is rounded the front end of it, then stuck the front, fuselage of a D.C. 6 on the top of it, has it's a biplane. And it's a biplane. I want to make sure we cross has a wig across the upper side of the fuselage and the lower side with these legs. Yeah. 6 engines. And that's in four on the lower wing. Notice the engine count. That's true. Yeah. Ten engines actually, but 6 on the top wing four on the bottom. Four on the bottom. Ten total. Their propeller engines are not they may be jet, maybe turbines, but their propeller. But since it never got built, never flew, I'll never know. Really? Oh, that's too bad. It looks apt description of it being something a kid would draw is not far off. I first thought of the sort of legendary guppy airplanes, only I guppy on steroids or a guppy. Guppy the swallow the guppy. Yeah, there you go. Exactly. But does it have four landing gear? It almost looks like it has two nose wheels and two main gear. It has, it has double bogey main gear and two wheel. I'm sorry. Single buggy nose gear two nose gear. Yeah. Anyways. The Howard DBA, DBA, according to this article, stands for darn big airplane. That's not what it says. It says something else. Darn big airplane. I thought of the legendary acronym above. This is a buff. Except it doesn't fly. I didn't realize that it didn't never flew. So we should also add that this was.

"So i actually <Speech_Male> now i wanna <Speech_Male> go back and see if i can find more <Speech_Male> details which i'm not going to <Speech_Male> be able to do not a big enough <Speech_Music_Male> story. <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> But yeah why <Speech_Male> would you put food <Speech_Male> scraps in someone's <Speech_Male> pocket <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> And <Speech_Male> this was maybe a practical <Speech_Male> joke. This sounds <Speech_Male> maybe if you want to take <Speech_Male> this in a positive light <Speech_Male> a practical <Speech_Male> joking couple. <Speech_Male> And she's <Speech_Male> like ha ha. I put <Speech_Male> some <Speech_Male> bread crumbs <Speech_Male> for some bread <Speech_Male> from the <Speech_Male> dinner table <Speech_Male> in your <Speech_Male> pocket. And then <Speech_Male> he's like ooh that's gross <Speech_Male> and then he threw a pillow <Speech_Male> outer <Speech_Male> if they were noisy <Speech_Male> enough. I actually bet <Speech_Male> the neighbors called the police. <Speech_Male> And <Speech_Male> then through like what's <Speech_Male> going on. <Speech_Male> And he said. I threw my <Speech_Male> rutan and my wife. They like <Speech_Male> well off <Speech_Male> to jail with you. Young <Speech_Male> men <SpeakerChange> is a question <Speech_Male> that of who has to press <Speech_Male> charges or <Speech_Male> to the police. Just press charges. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> I bet they just let him go. <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Male> <hes> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> i'm hoping it was not a serious <Speech_Male> assault <Speech_Male> because <Speech_Male> beating <Speech_Male> someone to death who <Speech_Male> would take forever <Speech_Male> <Music> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> not <Speech_Male> the thing. I should have said <Speech_Male> at the end of <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> his japanese hover <Speech_Male> bike. That has just <Speech_Male> gone on sale <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> It's <Speech_Male> basically the <Speech_Male> body of a motorcycle <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> <Speech_Male> and <Speech_Male> it has like <Speech_Male> you know like a drone <Speech_Male> has like four big roeder's <Speech_Male> and <Speech_Male> that will blow <Speech_Male> it up in the air <Speech_Male> and you can fly around. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> This is <Speech_Male> backed. The <Speech_Male> startup companies backed <Speech_Male> by japanese soccer <Speech_Male> player. <Speech_Male> And each one. <Speech_Male> It's on sale <Speech_Male> now. You could actually buy this <Speech_Male> if you want a <Speech_Male> flying <Speech_Male> hover <Speech_Male> bike. <Speech_Male> You can actually buy <Speech_Male> today. Costs seventy <Speech_Male> seven point seven <Speech_Male> million yen <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> I don't have that much money. <Speech_Male> So i will <Speech_Male> not be buying <SpeakerChange> one <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> You <Speech_Male> get forty <Speech_Male> minutes of flying <Speech_Male> time <Speech_Male> and you can go up to one hundred <Speech_Male> kilometers an hour in <Speech_Male> the air <Speech_Male> <Silence> but <Speech_Male> be aware <Speech_Male> that you are not allowed to fly <Speech_Male> over roads <Speech_Male> public roads. <Speech_Male> I also assume if you're <Speech_Male> the kind of person buys this you're <Speech_Male> gonna crash pretty <Speech_Male> quick so it sensible. <Speech_Male> You're allowed to fly <Speech_Male> over roads. You <Speech_Male> are only <Speech_Male> allowed to fly it <Speech_Male> at race tracks <Speech_Male> so basically <Speech_Male> you can go to a race <Speech_Male> track so like a <Speech_Male> circuit <Speech_Male> that has attracted <Speech_Male> you <Speech_Male> can get up over the <Speech_Male> track and fly around. I <Speech_Male> assume <Speech_Male> you actually <Speech_Male> can't fly when <Speech_Male> people are driving though <Speech_Male> because <Speech_Male> an i'm just waiting <Speech_Male> now how <Speech_Male> many i want to see how many <Speech_Male> by this went on <Speech_Male> sale yesterday <Speech_Male> or the day before so <Speech_Male> a couple of days ago <Speech_Male> i want to see <Speech_Male> how many people buy <Speech_Male> them in the first week and <Speech_Male> then see if i can find any <Speech_Male> statistics <SpeakerChange> on how many <Speech_Male> crashes <Speech_Male> because this is <Speech_Male> not the same a <Speech_Male> motorcycle. I know how <Speech_Male> to drive a motorcycle. <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> I have had motorcycles <Speech_Male> in my youth. <Speech_Male> <Silence> <Speech_Male> I'm <Speech_Male> wondering <Speech_Male> where the pitch <Speech_Male> and yaw is going <Speech_Male> to be on. The motorcycles <Speech_Male> leg left and right you can still <Speech_Male> lean. <Speech_Male> Do you <SpeakerChange> lean <Speech_Male> back <Speech_Male> to go <Speech_Male> higher or <Speech_Male> does that the acceleration <Speech_Male> do you <Speech_Male> lean forward to go faster. <Speech_Male> This <Speech_Male> is a lot of technical <Speech_Male> questions. <SpeakerChange> I <Speech_Music_Male> actually have <Music> <Advertisement> <Music> <Advertisement> <Music> <Advertisement> <Music> <Advertisement> <SpeakerChange> <Music> <Advertisement> <Speech_Music_Female> <Advertisement> <Speech_Female> <Advertisement> <Speech_Female> thank you for <Speech_Female> listening. "Intake of wheat based breads and pastas. You can try some alternative grades keno odes and so on rights-based noodles you can you can mix it up a little bit but there's also something else out. Oh bread which. I know you all know about especially but lockdown where that has become very very popular and the reason why sourdough bread is a good option is when it has been made using the traditional fermentation process. They use any fees and lactic acid. That has been used. As part of the making process would degrade the fruit towns in the fermentation process. The basically there's although there might still be some fruit towns left in inside the amount is so small that is not going to trigger symptoms for most people and children and if there are other brands that are still wheat base but prepared using this long fermentation process. Then the chances are that's going to be well tolerated by most suren as well. You can also buy gluten-free bread now. Often they love people confuse get confused and think they're challenged to be honest strict gluten free die but it's not the gluten. That's the problem. Gluten is actually a protein that's found in wheat and iffy strictly think about children and grownups who have ibs. It's the cop behind rate. It's a digestion problems. This is not an allergy usually when you can't protein if you like or the gluten. We're talking about allergies or we talking about iliac disease but today we're focusing really about to run with irritable bowel syndrome. Where when they have some trigger foods nyc foods containing fruit tans a triggers bloating tummy pain. Maybe constipation and most likely some loose stools and diarrhea. So gluten-free can't be adoption because most of the flight used are not weep based however they can have other ingredients added that might also triggered center. That could be things that chicory root annual in honey milk powders and so on because these are gluten free but they are not necessarily to be fruit ten free. If you like and again we're not eliminating rutan's in in died where we're trying to manage symptoms. It's allowing as much of these foods as possible without triggering symptoms in neutron. There's always a good idea to read labels but again you're not want to avoid all of these ingredients that have just mentioned because it might be that the child doesn't rack to those you know. It doesn't trigger any symptoms but it's it's about quantity so it may be particularly love bread or they are picky eater and they only want to eat bread. But it does trigger these symptoms of bloating and tummy bain. Then he can't perhaps play around a little bit with some of the different types of breads so is not always its name grains and the same ingredients. That aren't being used. There are also things like oath base. Ouda breads and again. That's absolutely fine. Because oath anything made from owed flour. Oat bran considered low for math and won't trigger lifting for your child however as i've mentioned in most cases if it's a matter of portion sizes the first thing to do is just reduce intakes. Not going to avoid bread entirely. Because as i mentioned these futons. These carbohydrates fan inbred actually really beneficial for us because it helps promote the growth of the good bacteria in our gut and that includes for the tour and of course the fiber will help children's poop. If you like help them go to health. Keep their poop soft also house keep let them go to the toilet regularly and it is a big source of energy in young children..

"I got one more. How much time do we. I got three minutes for problems. Go right ahead. okay virgin galactic. I saw this one pretty good about this. And they're the news kind of creeps out during the assent as they're under rocket power going more or less. Vertical yellow warning. Light comes on which should get your attention and then it turned red. basically said look you're off trajectory. And you're going to enter civilian airspace. And you only have. Faa permission in this space safe-space not over there and depending on which account you believe of this story It may or may not have been within their full protocols to aboard at that point a lot of people feel that they should have. But they didn't course because richard on board. Perhaps that richard said ignore the light straight ahead space. But they're at mach two you know they got a minute of propo- propelled time left says a quick pass to show. Yeah and this thing is largely manual. I mean obviously computers on it but it's not computerized. Highly really fly by wire. Yeah the to. Yeah and you know this is what's a little concerning to some people so the faa said know. We're going to ground until we figure this out. And when they had that big accident a few years back with the thing broke up it was because of pilot error. The tailfins were deployed to relate. So there's a lot here look at and try and figure out and one thing to make note of here like the space shuttle. This thing can only be tested with people on board both blue origin and spacex tested their spacecraft une crude many many times You can't do that with with the sommes. Got a fly thing. Yeah yeah and there's still the question that i have which goes way back. Which is when they bought this system for burt rutan who had used it to get the ansari x prize. Can this this kind of one off at the time off. Rocket plane really be made to work in a commercial and a commercial pace. And that's why the f. as getting involved this is more than just flying into commercial space because they want to put tourists on this they wanna put paying customers on the day they can write and they've had one two three four five moderate to major problems from Fatalities in the crash to ones. We heard less about twenty eighteen. Twenty nineteen where they lost control of the ship briefly and Their chief safety officer Flight direct test officer named mark study had warned about this quite a bit in two thousand nineteen. And then i think twenty twenty. He was laid off so he's been kind of an outspoken critic since then and i didn't think this This latest announcement kinda got him going again. So it's a little worrying. But i i think these are fixable is just how much money you wanna put into it. And he's already doubled the price on the ticket so we'll have to see how many investors we can bring in to help him out. Well you can have a buck fifty for me. That's it that's all. That's all. I put into it rod pile. Actually i'd rather spend the money on subscribing to ad astra magazine. Good yes better use so that we can all be spacefaring someday. This isn't even spacefaring. This is just space skipping rod pile space to point hoses book. Thank you for joining us. Leo laporte the tech.

"I like the challenge of sort of figuring out how to really immerse someone in something. 'cause i'm not just like not a parent or easy to figure that out and it could be a real challenge to be like wait something like off but like what is like i remember for the night didn't episode for a homecoming for medea. So they made it sound like it was in a church the whole time and you know i mixed it and we did a first pass and i was like this one. That was like off and i was like. I can't figure it out if people were like. Yeah like everyone kind of sounds almost empty or like they're like speaking into ghost ish like into like put like all this free verb things like sound like they're in this big church space but something was just off and so i finally sat down with the head engineer. I'm like i don't know. I can't figure this one out so we're going back and forth. And he just. We had like this church room tone recording playing meet the whole thing and he turns it up like way up. I was like oh that's it. That's it just needed more Rutan recording it was just like. Oh yeah da but like i don't make that mistake if were but i. I couldn't figure it out for. Oh so like. I like that. I like that sort of like. Here's this weird thing that we're going to do or here's just this thing that we're going to do. How can we best conveyed in sound. And just the the challenge of figuring that kind of stuff out. yeah. I was thinking of show. What's a show. That i heard recently had really good sound design to shows. Actually one is a bit of a shameless plug as i. I didn't help work on it. But i did. Green like the idea initially when we worked at glitch with this. "From three but you know we saw guys. Like joe harris and doffs towns. That are shooters get paid well. But he's obviously gonna make that much but shooters are always in demand in free agency and he is expected to cash in. I just think that he could fit. May be more into milwaukee financial structure. Right now than bobby portis. I agree definitely more realistic. Option to return between him and portis I think good chance he comes. He could end up getting via taxpayer. Mid level since his non vert is like i think three miller something or maybe even lower or or maybe like two and a half now something like that but he he started off really hot in the playoffs and then he kinda cooled off since the miami series but still shot forty forty five percents from three last year so i think this was really a great experience. Because you brought up dhabi's rutan's he was another guy who didn't really get the best opportunity with the spurs. As soon as he went to another team he got on leased and something similar happened to bryn forbes this year i think he's really being noticed now and i think a lot of teams should have interested in. We'll have interested him this summer. Options a pipe dream scenario would be that they could get back both bobby and forbes for non Even have the emily us on someone else. But you brought up joe harrison. Dhabi's burton's he's not gonna get that that offer this off season. I would be surprised if he does. But what if he came back on a one or two year deal where he's making around the the tax payer mid level which is that six million To raise more than double what he just made and then if he plays well he can get back the market and maybe earn as much as the joe. "Maybe it'll be the cabin dedicated to Microsoft or something are who or google or who knows what the things remarkable me as he experienced zero chief for five minutes. It's like whoa. That's a that's a lot of money for five minutes of zero g time. What do you think that goes quickly or do you think five minutes at zero g seems to last for ever i. I'm not sure. I'm not sure i think it's five g five minutes. Zero g sounds awfully nauseating. And i hadn't even thought about this. For example you can buy zero g here on earth by signing up for Forget the name of the company everybody calls at the vomit comet which is an airplane which simulates it and you get much shorter amounts of as zero g. But i'm wondering did anybody see in the Virgin galactic space plane. Do they unbuckle when they were zero g where they fleming abbott. They were if you watch his his statement before he went flying. The other people that were aboard were bouncing around the cabin while he was making his statement about being a child at wanted to fly in to dream big. And you know in etc etc. Richard branson being richard branson but yeah. He and there are picked still photos of branson floating in the cabin. You know you may have an opportunity to float in that cabin yourself. Because branson announced partnership with a ahmaz that charity fundraising site. And you can Sign up for that and you can donate if you want. But it's not. I guess it's not required but if you Well all the donations are going to go to humanity for space which is a. It's a nonprofit and the drawing for two seats on virgin galactic commercial flight so we'll have a lincoln show notes to To this site where you can sign up if you want. the The drawing closes september first. Twenty twenty one and they're going to announce the winner quote around september twenty twenty-ninth twenty twenty one. But yeah no no donation. is required and they have Several categories of donation levels that. Get you Different numbers of entries. So if you donate ten dollars you get a hundred entries fifty dollars you get a thousand entries and if you donate one hundred dollars you get two thousand entries. So we'll have that in the show notes. I don't know do you think you'll Sign up for that. Yeah i i. i'll do my ten dollars and you only need one winning ticket. That's true but of course look at look at the lotteries. David i mean. I'm convinced the chances of winning the lotto or about the same whether you buy a ticket or not but you know i might be wrong but you're right. You only need one pretty. I think about this. At least this isn't an ultra low cost carrier kind of situation where they're going to jam seventy people into one capsule although that is an interesting question. Is that as this ramps up. Will they build larger aircraft or will they jam more seats into this one or this reduce the seat pitch a re- reduce the seat pitch. Yes and do you really want to go with the The low cost space plane. Well hey that's been saying that for years. Do you getting strapped to a listrik missile that was built by the lowest bidder. But you know one thing that i didn't hear come out of this was that it's only been two thousand and two was when spaceship one one the end zaari prize which via s unity is based on. You know spaceship. One was the first one to go go into orbit earn astronaut wings. And i don't remember hearing richard saying any thank you to burke for the technology and mr reten. It's it's his bird you know in maybe a larger version of it but it's still goes back to our old friend. Bert rutan who has changed aviation multiple times in keeps changing aviation well and just imagine if gentleman who runs a ryanair michael o'leary gets involved with the low cost space plane in. I can see that your flight into space might only costs you. I don't know say a thousand dollars but if you want to reserve a seat while that's an additional fifty thousand dollars you want to bring any water with you. That's an additional hundred thousand dollars. Oh you little bring your camera. There's another fifty thousand well. Yeah and and the laboratory will be outside of the spaceship right. That's exactly where i was going. David it's crazy but this is a different era of space travel than we've ever been used to I mean sure. The the shuttle's had all the problems they did but but it was run by the government. There is no money changing hands at least visibly But this is all one hundred percent corporate profit based so who knows what we're going to see exciting times. Well at least exciting times for those who have enough disposable income to play with With their money and get some spectacular rights. Yeah you'd have to be somebody really important like vision jet instructor to be able to afford a ticket on the on the unity. But there's not that many of us all right a little bit of military news. We see from defense news. Lockheed's f thirty five topples competition in swiss fighter contest so David this was Well the swiss Are looking to replace their old hornets. I think right there believe it or not looking to replace the hornets and their f five They still have some f f five es which believe it or easing fs which believe it or not where the very last of their the last of their line But that was up against what seems to be the common theme these days. Which was it was the eurofighter the foul the super hornet and the f thirty five and only one of those was a fifth generation fighter and surprisingly the swiss came to the conclusion that the cheapest out of the four of them was the f thirty five which we find it hard to believe but there also was the added benefit. they're also getting some patriot. Batteries for defense now suisse's a neutral country. It always has been was never allied with new nor was it. Allied with the warsaw pact. But it is higher technology being transferred over to switzerland and they've made their use of their f. Eighteen years very quietly much like the The finish did you know they sort of had f eighteen thousand and just they purchased them. They flew them. But so this is. This is A broadening of the spectrum for the f thirty five but a thirty six of them going to switzerland. Personally it'll be kinda cool watching them operate from mountainside hangers like the swiss. Do you know they like hanging their airplanes from ceilings and then taxiing amount of mountains and flying away so and these are straight f. Thirty five as there's no extended wings or vertical takeoff. They're also getting the associated weaponry weapon weaponry that goes with it. You know and the other story that we have is it. Looks like boeing is got another victory of four their p. three replacement Germany is going to purchase the poseidon to replace their aging p three aircraft. It looks like that process of the p. Three ryan's going away being replaced these days by poseidon aircraft which is a real which is a boeing seven thirty with bombay. Were torpedo bag. So it'd be. Those two stories are major purchases by countries But for lockheed it's another it looks like the f thirty five is rapidly becoming the the f sixteen of choice for the rest of the world for a fifth generation fighter and the irony. Of course though. Is you know all of us complaining. About how expensive they are. The swiss found. They were the cheapest option. So we'll say he's going to germany are under the foreign military sales process. The fms process which Probably a lot of folks all know about if you don't follow you know military aviation Too much but i mean david you can chime in but fms's Well it's a it's a us government program and it's a. It's a way to transfer defense articles and services and training to Others international organizations international partners and that goes for all military purchases..

"And we are back. I hope you enjoyed our little midpoint. Refreshed yourself with refreshments. Yes well maybe candy gone okay. Our last story. Today comes in from kim and kim writes. Hello kevin becca. Hello. there's one that i think about constantly it will never get over. It's more sad than creepy. And that's why it upset me. A lot dea. let's get to it. I was working as a nurse in a district. Icu slash hasty. You on a night shift. I was in the hasty you or the high dependency unit where patients enough ventilated but still highly monitored and their monitors hopped up to a central screen on the nurse station. We had two patients in opposite beds and two of us on duty. The rest of the staff down a short connecting corridor. In the icu. My colleague had gone break. The patients was stable and sleeping. I sat at the nurses station catching up with the paperwork. I had a clear view of both patients. The monitors and of course the central screen on my desk. This equipment is highly sensitive. And if someone so much as takes a deep breath or shuffles around it shows the wave forms. I'm sorry filling out papers. When i hear a man clear as a bell call out. Can you help me love. I look see to sleeping soundly. No sign on the monitors of and the breathing and heart rhythms undulating with no interruptions. I say i'll be with you in a second and quickly finish the sentence. I was writing. But before i could get i head it again louder and even clear this time. Can you help me love. I got up and went to bed but both men was still sleeping soundly. So i put it down to talking in their sleep. Unlikely since the monitors showed nothing. But that's all i had. I didn't even mention it when my colleague rutan as morning broke off cleaner arrived as was habits. Went into the toilet to get changed. It was behind the station but separated by locked double doors in an area where the relatives room and a storeroom was before another set of double doors out into the main corridor managed to get changed before. She came back again telling us somebody needed help and asking why we were sitting around doing nothing we showed. Nobody needed help. The patients were all fine extreme back to continue changing but soon came back in insisting sumo needed help and she had us checking the relatives room and story even though we knew they were empty. Satisfied book confused. She went third time to the lou and came again besting back into the unit swearing never to go into the toilet again. We calmed her down enough for her to tell us clearly what happened. She said she had a man right up close to a year in the loop saying can you help me love not morning with a very heavy heart and to this day i kick myself for not calling out. What do you need to the man who needed help. I truly feel like i fail. Someone could have helped. If only i realized at the time that was happening but the voice was so clear an accompanied by the usual feelings. You get when the spirit's there was no indication for me. I was hearing a voice. The had no body. I really hope he managed to find what he was looking for and got to where he needed to be. This will trouble me all my days on a hope. If something happens like this again i'll be more relaxed and responsive love kim. Aw don't feel bad kim. That's i understand you but you shouldn't because also it's a bit bloody terrifying isn't it. Can you tell if i had that right now in this room. And there's no. I'd be like no and don't call me off and i'd run. Yes i'd two priests and we know of their ages would be young and all old. Ah, talk about the moon. I question was as anything ever come around about anything on the moon itself. Because I heard a story. And I remember reading up on it about Eight years in common, so they had to kill him Moon and that the move brings out like a bill, which indicates is then in turn, the mood is hollow and that part of the reason why we've never been back to the moon because They did find alien life at some sort of based on their own on the moon, and that being said he was basically kind of They believe the harsh warned. Well, that's just about anybody's guess. What do you think? Paula? Do you think there's really something strange on the moon there? This is so funny out. You took the words right out of my mouth because I read penetration and I was fascinated. So I went to see and ghost one because I need to go get it from the source, and I caught him as he was walking out of this. He was walking out of the door night that in Goa, You said that there's not human intelligence on the dark side of the moon. Is that what you believe? And he said Yes, And he turns around to me is also on the light side. And and I thought, Yeah, he's telling the truth. And he II absolutely. "Easily which is a testament to your talent you worked for Richard Williams but avoided his wrath. which seems like an impossibility and you've worked on many great projects where. You didn't have to show a portfolio. All three of those things seem impossible to me. I didn't show for believe they just call me. I was working on. Australia. Africa. What I was working on I went to. This call. was like, yeah, this guy can do. Yeah, we had a history and I was a new in London by yeah. But but that brings up a very important point that I think people just getting into the into the industry should pay attention to. don't don't let your ego drive. You always do the best you can and always to be mindful of the people who are within that assembly line chain of your production because I, take it, take it. First of all taken for me I did not do that early in my career and it took many years for me to make amends. For, for that. So So take it from a loser if you think you're the top dog. But yet you got nothing to show for it. You'RE GONNA pay the price. But if you do it the way you did it and you work hard and give everything he got. People will just call you up when they have an opportunity for you because the trust your work, your work ethic and they know what you can do. So. Situations where I've seen animators. Like the director looking at their scene and the girls well. Really. Look quite good. Yeah I assisted than full my rob's Blah Blah Blah throws his assistant under the bus. On what the? Yeah That one thing I it doesn't sit right with your. Directed at two yet. It only makes. Itself look bad. Yup. So Dick Rutan bones is an assistant has to be an animator team. You live and die as team young you don't work that way. then. You're not very far yup blame your assistant. Has Studio, at some guys they were like that a trade people at crap and I didn't like it. That was it. They took most of the money and then now didn't care in give a damn about anybody else. Yup and. My now, I don't think they're that. Happy. Go lucky yet. "You know like being in control flipping the script being the one to get shot guys down sometimes and like I would get angry very easily like I was bear and I'm a Scorpio. My Stinger would come out and I was like it'd be very temperamental at times if people crossed me. But now just really chill I'm just like. a lot of the like the emotional things in the wounding and old hurts that I had started to heal through rutan practices. Yeah I. Definitely, I am have had had sex with a guy who he was used VIP Biogra- and he could last long time and he was really hard and he was really good in bed like he knew all the tricks, all the techniques like he had a lot of experience and it was definitely good sex, but there wasn't connection and it. Was I had sex with him once and I really enjoyed it and I. But I didn't feel like I wanted to see him again and he is what happens so often and it's really sad because many men are actually choosing to show up in bed that way also. So there's a lot of men the do want connection and they just don't really. Know How to get there. They haven't had the training I'm but then there's there are so many guys out there right now that are just like actually saying things like Oh don't have sex with her for more than five minutes because then she'll fall in love with you just get in come and then get out in I think these guys Yada they're. assholes in their Douche bags but I think they're also really insecure because they don't know they don't know how to have sex for longer than five minutes. I don't know how to satisfy a woman in bed. They don't know how to be vulnerable in connect in a way that feels empowered. They feel really scared just very insecure in so they're projecting this. While I'm just doing this because you know I don't want her to follow the and I'm a tough guy is like No, you're scared little boy and grow the. Fuck. Right, right for sure for sure you know sometimes no situations it literally for the female, it just feels like they're masturbating in your body is like why did I don't even need to be here for you to do a few pumps and be done like and you can't even connecting you like so guarded, it's really such a turnoff. It's just a waste my time I'm an energetically like now I won't have sex with someone if I wouldn't WanNa be like that person so they could not have.

"Which is the sequel prequel parallel universe game. That it's a it's not exactly clear they kind of re conned some some stuff into the story line there which made it no make a lot of sense. But essentially there's the command and conquer story line and the red story storyline. They eat as each a series of games which a kind of similar but different but basically so readily is an alternative history. Where ornstein goes back in time and kills hitler and therefore your fighting alternative world war between the allies and the soviets. Do you can pick either side wile. That's quite the storyline. It is called the the thing is westwood westwood. Rutan strategy games focused very heavily on being cinematic as being game. So you have like fully acted cut scenes. And somebody's a bit hammy but red alert in particular is quite good in terms of you kind of you feel like you're playing through a story as well as playing an ally what i found remarkable going back to of so many years and having just play. Command and conquer is how much better a game. It is than command and conquer like each level that you play in singapore mode feels very much like you're playing a bit of a story even though is sort of you know a build a base and build tanks and going. Kill the enemy back in time. How much time was between the first game in second game. How how long came along. I think it was somewhere between two and four years. I can't have top of head. I mean the engines look very similar at the time is the same sort of graphics and it was also the same with red alert. Two and command and conquer too was that you could see there a lot of similarities in the engines so they would appear to be sort of co developed to some extent. But yeah it's just remarkable. How much better it as a game to play like a single player thing and yeah he's been really found revisiting it. I have to say i didn't know what the plot was but now i do. I think mike give that go. That sounds like fun well with all of that. Joystick and red alert chat. Let's get on with the rest of the show so this week. We are going to discuss. The recent proliferation of a boon to remix is on. I suppose we need to stop with alan. What is an open to remix so remakes is way you take a boon to and then you fiddle with in some way and make something and there are other terms that we use at which are slightly different. So there's a remix of flavor and a derivative and from our perspective a remix is something we expect at. Some point probably wants to be flavor but it doesn't have to but it is very clearly built on a boon to bill.

Is India becoming a Big Brother state?

"In India. Possible data is snowballing and people are calling for more stringent data privacy laws in response Narendra Modi's BJP led government has devised a new data privacy. Bill that is striking a different path. From Europe's general data protection regulation would GDP all however amid Watsa packing allegations against the government and the rise of facial recognition. Critics of this new. Bill say that it paves the way for a willion levels of state surveillance. Hit to discuss this with me. Is the FTC. Benjamin Parkyn down the line from Mumbai. Hi Benjamin I can you give us an overview of the data privacy conversation. That's happening in India. When did it I come to the foreground? The discussion really goes back about a decade. I suppose noticed when India started building the world's largest biometric identity scheme it's other program so essentially citizens would get a unique. Id that was linked to that fingerprint. So Iris Scan. So is incredibly powerful to and really help to streamline the delivery of government services for example vice minimizing bureaucracy but it was also seen as a dangerous too because there was so much intimate data collected in one place whether it was. You know biometrics nick. Thiel financial data and whatever else separately has been a really in many senses nearly unprecedented explosion of mobile phone use and Internet use over the past few years. I suppose China is nowhere else where hundreds of millions of people who previous had never used the Internet now have phones have facebook accounts. Talk accounts and a shopping. Whatever else definitely their friends. What do you think has been the catalyst for this bill in particular in two thousand seventeen? The Supreme Court in India ruled that citizens enjoyed a fundamental rights to privacy under the constitution that was largely a response to the other program but it created degree of urgency. Around this question of what to do all of the states what protections could citizens expect how could companies and others use it so a committee was formed than a draft personal data protection? Bill was put out in two thousand eighteen and in December the government the IT Ministry puts out a new draft at much change draft of the bill into parliament. So what does this data privacy bill? Acne prepares the bill is in many senses reminiscent of GDP although it's authors had envisioned it as inspired by GDP but taking a new path that would make more sense for developing countries. That's how they framed it. It contains all sorts of strong privacy protections but was also intended to help India's digital economy flourish on practical terms. It proposes separating out certain categories of data such as sensitive and critical personal data which will receive extra protection it has tough rules around. How users can process the data of children for example who had defined as anyone below the age of eighteen and it also has other provisions such as a right to be forgotten the ability to correct and erase your data online. If it's no longer accurate or whatever else so what's been the public reception than to the latest draft of the bill. You wrote that. The man who conceived and wrote the first draft has called it a Walian. Can you tell us why? Yes so. This is justice. Sri Krishna Rutan's who cream court justice. Who was appointed often that privacy ruling to help draw the original bill? He's been extremely vocal about the fact that he's disillusioned with it and that's because while in many respects it's even tougher on say companies than GDP. It gives the government a very broad brush to bypass the bill. Also the latest version includes this provision whereby the central government can exempt any agency from all provisions old privacy implications that would be introduced under this bill while Europe and lot of other countries provide a mechanism for say intelligence agencies to intercept. Communications will collect data. This is subject to legislative of the sites or parliamentary oversight as it was originally intended to in injustice Sri Krishna's bill and now it's not so his words. The government has caught lunch. Have you any sense of what citizens or civil society activists and even corporations have thought about this? Bill IS BEEN MIXED REACTIONS. If THIS BILL PASSES COMPANIES. Stand to have to deal with increased regulation. But I think even many of them recognize. This is a necessary step. However the government exemption which wasn't in the original bill has launched a lot of people particularly in the context of what is happening. India at the moment where they've been a little protests. There has been unrest in been a broader a debate about the state of civil liberties in the country the concern among not just privacy advocates but also people from the corporate world and all sorts of other is that this could backfire case it. Could you tell us you alluded to this? Could you tell us a little bit more about Moody's New Citizenship Law? The protests against it. And whether you're seeing instances over reports of surveillance and reports of people being critical of this sure so in December parliament passed a very controversial law suit provided a fos track essentially non-muslim religious minorities from India's Muslim-majority neighbors I Pakistan Bangladesh Afghanistan to citizenship. This was seen as undermining India's secular constitution it was seen as discriminatory against Muslims. Not least because there are persecuted Muslim minorities in some of these surrounding countries and it was also seen as positive ruled a agenda on the positive Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government to promote internationalism. The idea that India is a home. Nine Hindus it's also tied up in concerns that Muslims could be subject to future scrutiny and insecurity in India such as separate plans for Roy Citizenship Registry. By virtue of this bill they would be more vulnerable to Rica cushions from that. So this bill has set off. Huge protests and the response by the authorities has been seen as very heavy handed that bidden violent crackdowns there have been killings the been mass arrests. But it's also put India's civilians capabilities on show for example in Delhi Police started to use facial recognition technology at protests. For the first time something that was originally intended to help find missing children has now been used to help monitor these protests and identify suspected quote unquote rabble rouses and others who are seen as potentially dangerous and this is in itself alarmed. A lot of people.
