So great to have you. Here, thank you. We're really excited to talk about a mood. It's such an interesting and important project. I'll give a little bias in that. I'm really interested in this in particular because I've been on the board of Sfar for many years, which is the issue of the Torah Academy, the Talmud Academy for lgbtq folks are that comes out of the Experience Lgbtq Q. Folks. It's probably a better way to say it and. When I first heard about a mood I was so excited to hear that there was something that seemed similar from edge use of color perspective. So it's something that I've really wanted to explore for a long time that both of us have and and we're really thrilled to finally have this opportunity. So Mirror I was wondering if we could start with a little bit of the origin story of a mood. In, two, thousand, eighteen, I was invited to be in the Selah Cohort fifteen of bend the arc four juice of color by Jews of color and there I met Ya McCoy will meet her the year previously. And part of that training. Was a study that we that she called. J O C. Tour Academy. And it was several afternoons where we would look text from an anti oppression lands, and at the end of that hurt I was sitting with you who the webster was hard the cohurt. We looked at each other and I said, why does this have to be only part of this training? We need this to be real, and so we started talking with start talking about that. So that was may of two, thousand eighteen. By June or July. Are Corman had come back from Israel at, pass it to you. I did a fulbright year in Israel I live in. Jerusalem and when it came back, I became involved in. J. Fridge which is to cherish on economic justice. And Colored. Caucus. Part of my involvement. J.. Fridge I was connected to Huda Webster An. I approached you Huta saying that I wanted to teach a small class on the politics of Hebrew pronunciation and I wanted to teach it for Jews of color of an Alexi that you're smiling because acid is immensely nerdy deeply nerdy. Added belts deeply important but you huda one up to me and he said what if instead of just having your class, we actually create a container for this kind of learning to happen more often. and. So that really launched the idea of. Jesus, Colored Tour Academy, which became a mood colored tour academy and we started out by a every other week having a person in the community, a Jewish person of color in a community teach whatever they wanted and we we started her first Beta run I'm really got to see what what kinds of topics were interesting. How did the groups of people showed up for different topics differ in and we basically got to conduct all this research We launched our first full year after the high holidays. This past fall in two thousand nineteen. And we just completed our first full year of classes. We got here because for as long as there have been Jewish. People color navigating predominantly white Jewish space the roots have been growing and deepening. People like you. Huda. Myself were able to found something like this because of all that work that had been happening. JESSOP. Color entering wet Jewish is being Jewish spaces and also getting to know one another.

Coronavirus: Third day of wrangling over huge EU recovery plan

"Seems to be a good deal of lip, curling, and or person beneath the mosques at a you talks on post. Pandemic Recovery Fund after four days of discussions agreement on the proposed seven hundred fifty billion euro fund appears away off. Some assessments of the general tone of the negotiations have even vote the dreaded, full and frank exchange of views, which in the diplomatic arena is the equivalent of at least one protagonist being flung. Through a window into a horse. Trough I'm joined with more on this point Naomi O'Leary Europe correspondent at the Irish Times. Niamey we'll we'll discuss the detail presently, but broadly. Who's disagreeing with whom about what? The main blockage is that there's a group of wealthy northern state led by the Netherlands that want the overall package. The thunder discussion to because because. They at home have domestic electorate that think the costs too much. And The Netherlands is heading for national election next year in March, and I think it's important for Prime Minister Ruta to be able to show to his electorate that he put up a fight in Brussels though. Is this just a really serving resurfacing rather? What's fairly familiar dynamic within the U you this idea that there is a a frugal nor Sunday profligate south. There's a lot of stereotypes at play. There changes though Britain is part of the discussion. It wouldn't have gotten so far as it has. If Britain had still been in the EU win vetoed dozen stage. I'm what's being forced to happen. Is that the states like the Netherlands and Austria kind of being forced to come with their use in a more direct way, they're not able to hide behind the opposition of Britain anymore as they have in the past, and you have alliances of smaller states rather than big blocking ones. Is it about the amount in total, or is it more about how that amount will be dispersed specifically whether it would be a grant or a loan which would need to be paid back at some future point? Yeah, it's both so there's a few things on the table. There's the common e you budget seven years. The Party Gotten Ryan to discussing then there's the recovery fund. Which is this one saw? A response to the economic damage of the pandemic that same to stimulate you con- economies. It's the new thing that would be funded by joint borrowing by the EU Commission that then be distributed to member states, according to need on some of the the the of that money would be in the form Graham that does need to be paid back by the national capitals, and that's controversial at to the frugal, because they're quite wary of incurring greater liabilities, also giving money with strict conditions. This lot of belief that this could you know? Why should any national governments being sensitized to run sensible budget if they think that they can just get money with consequences? So. They're pushing hard for a reduction. Particularly in the amount of grams. Then there are other questions. ID. Decide who gets and also. What kind of would you have? The money is spent. How to Tend Your InnerSpark

"Hello Hello Hello Okay. So I'm realizing how truly now more than ever this work? The work of my soul. The work that has saved my life has guided me has served me in. So many ways is needed. And how literally everything in my life and I'm sure your life as well has prepared us for what we're facing right now and so it is truly with the greatest joy and gratitude and humility that I share with you in her spark my work and last month. We unveiled a rebranding. We have a new logo and the mission. All of it is just so clear and I was really gifted this clarity. During the last Lions Gate Portal last August. Two thousand eighteen. That's when everything just coalesced into the super clear vision in the apothecary came to be an interesting Sherri came to be and the route. Ruta spiral collective came to be. And we've been working on all of these things and were slated to unveil them in March and then Bam everything kind of went crazy to say the least and so it i. I you know I won't lie. I'm human I was a little Mimi and well damn it. How am I supposed to really leverage this this rebrand and and the route to spiral collective this beautiful offering for my soul? That was wanting to come through at this time. All anyone is focused on is is this this virus and and the fear and the the trauma in this kind of collective inhale and breath retention that I'm experiencing right now and I realized something in me or outside of me. Speaking through me was guiding me really to this moment to having everything be so aligned contained and clear and beautiful for this time right now because this is the work that is needed. We are facing so much uncertainty. There is so much anxiety so much up in the air so many unanswered questions and none of us. None of us knows what anything looks like. We're truly in the middle of a collective rebirth and birth demands surrender. It demands dropping anything that you thought you knew anything. You thought you wanted any plans you thought you had and completely surrendering to the process and allowing it to just be what it will be and that's what we're facing right now together and so enter spark inner spark this soul business of mine that has been with me and I have been the Channel Four for the last Gosh Four and a half years. I am proud to to share with you. What this truly means. So here we go. Inner Spark is so much more than a name. The name of my business right. It's it's has a sexy sound inner spark and it's so much more it's a code. It's a way of living. Each of US carries a unique spark of the divine that animates our vessel and guides our experiences in this lifetime. Losing touch with this essential spark is losing touch with yourself so each of us is a piece of divine consciousness embodied and we are in human body form right but we're not the only examples of consciousness embodied trees animals plants crystals. All of these these things here on Mama Guy Mama. Earth are examples of different forms of embody consciousness. And so this is that thing that moves through all things that animates and in livens and allows us to experience the world with our our tools and faculties afforded to us by whatever form we happen to be wearing. That spark drives our will to animate to create to live. That spark guides us in fuels our devotion and our discipline. It's the animating life force energy of all. It's what allows us to consistently show up for ourselves and our souls purpose for Encarnacion at this time. These times are are interesting. This is certainly a pivotal point in civilization and our timeline in our trajectory so through activating and remembering this spark this inner spark we've returned to our pure original state where we can survive ender to the secret spiral essence of life once more inner sparks sole mission is simple yet profound and permeating inner spark. My work exists to resurrect our collective awareness of and reverence for the sacred spiral principle of existence. And this is done through repairing our relationship with our inner containment our inner authority and devotional discipline. Inner Spark is a container for remembrance activation transformation devotion rising exploration education on Education radical healing reclamation and service. All in the name of love period. Right I said it was simple. I didn't say it was necessarily easy. Everything done through. Inner Spark is in deep devotion and deep service to resurrecting our collective awareness of the sacred spiral principle of life and the cosmos as a whole and this is only done through repairing our relationship with our own inner structure in Earth Authority and containment the spiral in the triangle as discussed in the previous episode episode. Thirty eight are seen in her sparks logo. I had someone tell me it was as though the logo was speaking to them and it is it is the eight pointed symbol surrounding the spiral and triangle are also symbolic of the eight main primordial archetypal frequencies of existence used in her sparks working. That'll be discussed in great detail in an upcoming episode. I'm very excited to get into that. So that logo is is a code in and of itself. I highly encourage you to just kind of look at it and see what comes through for you so inspire is a movement. It's a way of life. It's a collective mission and also literal place for learning and community and courses and the apothecary. Some of inner sparked secret intentions include the following. And I really feel like these could be painted guidelines for all of us as we navigate. The uncharted waters ahead. So while these our inner spark sacred intentions every Invite us all to kind of fuel into where we can incorporate some of these into our own daily life so to hold space for your process through a variety of offerings for you to hear the song of your soul and to spark the remembrance of your divine purpose and sovereignty. Creating that space for you to hear your truth. I will never ever ever pretend to have all the answers. I will never pretend to I. I don't even know what like the image of what's that movie. You made me watch recently the love Guru so Mike Me Watch the love guru and I was watching with him and laughing and also feeling like Oh my God I have such a problem with this kind of space and I don't even really know what to call it but I guess the whole kind of coaching mentoring spiritual teacher space. There's a lot of hypocrisy. There's a lot of guru complexes there's a lot of bullshit and yeah no a lot of inflated egos a lot of absolute truths being claimed and inner spark myself will never do that. I will never pretend to have the answers or to give you step by step instructions or to in any way hijack your experience by creating it for you this is a space in her spark is a space for you to reclaim and remember your own. Tensions Overshadow NATO Meeting Intended as Show of Unity

"Start start with the ongoing NATO summit here in the UK it is meant to mark the seventieth anniversary of the military alliance bought. Disagreements have threatened to who over shadow celebration Robert. The summit began yesterday with us. President Donald Trump's attack on French president Mo mccraw as micro had earlier called NATO brain debt. What did you make a fuss? Well trump absolutely played to His his his absolute he. He was big completely consistent in that he likes strong men who he thinks like him and and he hates rivals. That's the crudity of it but I'm macron has come in for something of a beating not only for trump but also from the German leadership suggesting somehow the could be a displacement or replacement or winding down in Europe European security of NATO building up the defense component payment of the European Union e. e. d. u. and the other things that are which which Germany is not prepared to accept. It's not prepared to accept by the way also the NATO. I told him that they go up. Two percent of GDP. They say ten twelve years off that by the way if they were to do it tomorrow. That'd be the third military power in the world but the engagement with Russia is really terribly. Terribly important McCall the Italians particularly to say we must engage h with Russia You know that despite everything. It's a pity that the the the the NATO arrangements have really gone into neglect. The and this has enraged. Of course the new eastern part but cotton us of of NATO. There is real substance to this route. But I don't want to take cap the conversation dominated but actually there is more to macron's argument than the he's been given credit for. Let's talk about Russia moments bus but Carol s Robert mentioned our there are big questions now weaving the NATO over the future of the alliance over money also over Turkey's behavior do you think the summit in the UK. We'll find any solutions. I think this summit will be an attempt to paper over the cracks. I think they want to try and put on a show of unity. We've had the British prime. I'm Minister Boris Johnson. Arriving saying that it is one for all all for Juan and Jens Stoltenberg secretary general saying it's the most successful swill alliance in history because we've changed. The world has changed but I think the problem is that it hasn't sufficiently adapted to the changing attitudes. It's a some of its key players. that comment from President mccraw about NATO being brain dead was because he's looking at NATO which is after all a political as well as a military alliance you have now got in the American president trump. Someone who has questioned America's engagement in the alliance in the past that he's now saying he's committed a to it you have had Turkey which didn't even consult key NATO allies before waded into Syria. And what you've got now. Is this alliance that was constructed to join the the end to try and confront the Soviet bloc during the Cold War which hasn't hasn't really worked out what it strategic purpose is now and although there's a lot of talk now about what the attitude to will be with China but it will be towards sabree threats and so on it hasn't really worked out a new overall strategic direction and I think that's what President Macron was referring to so robots looking looking at this strategy and what NATO's functioning at the moment is there any agreement between the states member states over who or what is the the biggest threat at the moment is it is terrorism or what. Now this is This is high theology which has been around. I was at the think-tank forum-goer I'm Greg Cote engagement NATO. Yes Day and it was very interesting by the way how was generation split that a lot of young people. They had a lot of the debates. Only open people speaking from the floor if they are under thirty five sons a bit mad bit work but it was terrific. It was terribly important and you saw really. What a fundamental difference was? This is an an enormous area of debate. And you're absolutely right in your question and I'm going to illustrate it. Only with one anecdote with three prime ministers in succession on the stage together together with Justin Trudeau and marketer of the Netherlands are absolutely accomplished uric euro performer Ruta. But before him it was the extraordinary absolutely straight out of Borgen Earner Solberg of Norway. NSO book was asked to consider the whole scenario Korea. Russia the works they know about what is your greatest strategic threat. The melting of the Ice Cap Justin Trudeau was hopeless. He was absolutely his mother. The Sun was Apple Pie and hugging trees. Where really were ready for piece? Actually in fact he did down what the Canadians have been doing in Syria left Galveston than Don don good fighters most intriguing was Huta. You thought he would be the most accomplished God talk about a snake oil salesman. He would not put what his hand up for anything. Not even a commitment for about the second or third richest country in the EU a NATO putting its hind in its pocket to go to two few percent of GDP. He said No. We're not going to do it so that tells you where we are. There is a fractured leadership on generation. Lines absolutely what. Carol Carol said it. It's going to hold together for the time being but to come back to macron Laura detail in all seriousness. He did awesome very important questions because the foundation is a union of Democracies and Turkey. Certainly doesn't look much like a democracy to most of the allies now. Let's look at the dynamics between the NATO elitist. There's a newly released video that seems to show Justin Trudeau. Boris Johnson. Emily mccraw Make Fun of Donald Trump. Are they ganging up on him. Will it was some wonderful footage. which any of our listeners could probably find fairly easily with a a quick search on the Internet of them the reception at Buckingham Palace and they do seem to be poking fun at trump for waiting in with his own little impromptu news conference yesterday? I think we shouldn't shouldn't make too much of that specific incident but I think that what he does is show this This real concern that there is is on the suspicion of where from really is on this We know that he doesn't really like these. Multilateral organizations we know that he's he's been hugely critical of in particular many of the European members of NATO not putting sufficient funds and sufficient resources into the NATO part. He's been very critical of that. He seems so far on this trip to have been on his best behavior. Trying going to say that trying to stay out of the UK election which is something that the conservatives who are battling away with polling day just a week or so away now he he pulled back from waiting too much into the election campaign he has kept his comments. Pretty supportive of NATO. But I think when you saw that little Vignette of the other world leaders apparently mocking trump underlying that is all these big doubts about whether trump's halt halt really still is in the NATO alliance you're a detachment didn't become with trump Obama hugely popular in Europe with far more eurosceptic. Almost the for P people around trump. I think it's terribly healthy. That McCall and Boris and Justin Trudeau chatting away. They all mate actually the the the interesting intelligent womb people. And that's a great thing. It's great for my country Britain. Whatever you say about Boris and I know him well he does engage? They like talking to him and he was having a sip of champagne even though he'd promised he wasn't going to touch a drop of drink until brexit assault. It just just finally before we move on. Obviously we have to talk about how trump's visit is reflected in the UK politics right before general elections. So so Carrie. What is interesting is that we haven't seen that many photos of trump and Johnson together this time for example? Have we know extraordinary. The lengths to which Downing Street has gone to to try to prevent photos of President trump and Boris Johnson. buddying up together and when you think about previous visits of. US The president's it is really quite extraordinary but the backdrop to this is that Boris Johnson's opponent Jeremy Corbyn one of the central themes of his attack on the Conservatives is that we're going to get a trump style US UK trade deal if the Conservatives win on that will push up drugs prices in the National Health Service and it's going to cost us all hundreds of millions of pounds every every week now the conservatives have flatly denied that they flatly denied the NHS will be affected in any future trade deal. But the problem is that in the the UK trump is not exactly a popular figure. And I think the conservatives who are ahead in the polls at the moment no that if Boris is seen to be using using up too much to his old friend Donald that is not gonNA play well with the British Electric. And that's why even though they did meet in Downing Street last night there were no pitches the two of them together.

Explainer 174: Who wants to climb Uluru?

"If there is a thing to be climbed some people will want to climate as George Mallory said of Mount Everest because it's there it's pretty much the human condition and it is not altogether yeah the discreditable U._S.. President John F. Kennedy was correct in his famous Rice University speech nine hundred sixty two to cite malary's existential quip as an articulation of the impulse which fifty years ago this week marched Apollo eleven towards the mood we choose to go to the Moan and this decay and do the other things not because they are easy but because they are none of which means however there is never a case for discretion indeed mallory himself might have wished takes a sized more of it shortly before perishing on Everest's upper slopes in nineteen twenty four in Australia. Such choices are about to be removed from visitors to Ullah Rue the mighty scarlet sandstone lump that sits at Australia's earliest heart climbing larue is to be banned before now climbing larue has been mealy disapproved of the rock is sacred to its traditional landowners the non Ngu people of Australia's. Northern Territory signs at Larue and page on the website of the Laura Carta Tutor National Park have patiently explained why the unknown Goo would prefer that visitors admire the rock from a distance. This is sacred site so they ask us it is not merely Larousse spiritual significance in and of itself that climates trampling-upon as the anger see it. It's a burden upon them when misfortune befalls visited to their land and such events are not uncommon to climb uluru is to ascend something three hundred forty eight meters toll in daytime temperatures often exceeding forty degrees Celsius at least thirty seven people have died on larue hundreds hundreds have been injured all of which is to say nothing of the erosion of the rock by millions of boot souls and the damage done to the surrounding environment by the dropping of rubbish and the inevitable consequences of the lack of plumbing generally associated associated with prehistoric monoliths. Most visitors have taken the hint much as courteous travelers cover the heads before approaching the western ball in Jerusalem and dress with appropriate modesty for other places of worship. The lucado Juta National Park authorities had long said they'd pull the plug entirely when the proportion of visitors who climbed dropped below twenty percent by one recent count fewer than fifteen percent of visitors to hula route. Were climbing it case. You would think closed except that certain sections of Australian public life increasingly displayed depressing tendencies towards the American habit of turning running every damn thing into a melodramatic new front in the culture war a conflict waged in Australia as in the U._S.. More or less exclusively in the imaginations of a few noisy and tedious crackpots and Yahoos onto this battlefield has stepped inevitably federal senator and indefatigable nitwits Pauline Hanson. I can't say the cultural sensitivity when people have been climbing the rock always use now I just doc. I don't get it in Senator Hanson's decades in politics. She has never seen stick. She was unable to grasp the wrong end of and her claim that closing Oulu Ruta climates is akin to closing Bondi beach. Two swimmers is an exercise in missing using the point formidable even by her rarefied standards Hanson's argument only merits consideration at all to the extent did it will as she is. Well aware turn a non issue into an issue which is the only thing thinks she's ever been good at one of Hanson's fellow Senators Mall Andy McCarthy a young woman from Baramula in the Northern Territory has sportingly offered to take Hanson to Larue and explain its significance but she should spare herself the company. In the trip we need to have constructive debate in this country very well informed bite and unto Senator Hanson gets the information in particular from the people these <hes> in the information that she's providing across crossed the country's nothing short of scanning really Hansson like populist rabble-rousers and their roused rebels elsewhere has no interest in being persuaded or indeed in persuading it's all about the drama and the noise and the rage of all the things in this world and in this life that one could choose to get round up about it is the custodians of natural wonder and national treasure taking action to protect it as he's there right and ending deed their responsibility. Nobody will be prevented from observing larue and marveling at it. Everybody will however be enjoined to respect it. boola ru will close to climates on October twenty six thirty four years to the day after it was returned to its traditional owners who endured along with dispossession and boorish climates more than a century of this sacred site being called as rock as it was dubbed in Nineteen seventy-three by the survey William Goss who named after meet of his depressingly a surge has been reported visitors to Larue apparently anxious to do what is mealy. Fed research: climate change could spur financial crisis

"Here's another reason to think about going green. The possibility of climate change leading to an international financial crisis. KCBS map Bigler reports. A new study finds that climate change will hit businesses very hard. And if left unchecked could lead to a collapse of world markets. It's one of the first time that a financial expert has looked into the issue, of course, the science of climate changes as well established. But I think the economic effects of that climate change have become a bit more obvious recently, Glenn Ruta Bush senior policy advisor at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco points to the recent bankruptcy of PGE that came about largely because of devastating wildfires. Ruta Bush tells KCBS the Federal Reserve could step in to help companies shift to a low-carbon economy. But so we don't have the tools or mandates limit climate change. But I think this article makes the point that the fed will have to take climate change into account when conducting policy Bush says climate change is one of three major forces transforming the worlds. Economy. The other two are an aging population and rapid advances in
