"Don't want to go to Russ's birthday party. So you kind of proven the point. Like that's a lot of people to show up for a birthday party on your day off. I don't know. I don't know, I mean, it's written like it's bad, but I don't think that's bad. But somebody is telling. I don't think it's bad. You don't. I don't know. What Chris you expected all 53 to show up? No. But you would have heard, hey, rust through this banging birthday party, not everybody can make it, but it was still a great time. No, this is. Yo, nobody came to his birthday party. What are you talking like that? What is Nathaniel Hackett thinking right now, do you think? He's thinking, I think that's because if you're going to take a look, if you take a look at that Purcell video, if it is angry, if he is telling Russ cut the oh, who knows whatever the transcript of it is, but it is something that is angry and talking to him in a manner in which probably no Seattle seahawk ever spoke to him. Maybe in his entire tenure there. The Purcell statement, silhouette, whatever it was, one way ticket message was said right in front of the head coach. Right in front of him. Look at the video. He doesn't even bat an eye. So maybe it wasn't that bad, 'cause he didn't turn around and go, hey, you know, whatever. Or maybe Nathaniel Hackett's just like, you take care of it. I don't know what the hell's happening there. Because something's happening in that locker room and stuff's getting out and being spun and being tweeted, that is so off the charts. Right now, towards Russell Wilson and the Broncos traded so much to get him and spent so much on him, hey folks in Denver, hey, locker room around him. He's going nowhere. He needs to be rehabilitated, okay? Like, he's not 40 and being shoved out the door. He's not somebody who can suddenly get pushed out the door because of whatever's happening in the locker room. Suddenly is so untenable. He's going no, where? Because let's just even say, let's just even entertain. Let's just talk about this elephant that's clearly in the room that's rampaging all over the place right now. Let's just say an entertain the idea that the Bronco sit around, okay, that they sit down, the brass sits down if they're allowed to stay, the ownership group sits down from the team president to commissioner Google. They all sit down and they go, what a monster massive mistake this is. Coach has got to go. GM's got to go. We got to clear this whole damn thing out. Russ has to go. Russ has to, like, let's just say they come out of that meeting, Russ has to go. Do you think they're getting anywhere back the value? What would Russ go for in a trade right now? With this contract coming off of this performance, like a 5th round. Dude, not even remotely in the galaxy of what Seattle just got. One pick. So no. Where? So whoever's whispering about Russ's VIP list or his RSVP list, more specifically, whoever's got that knife out for him, you're just bleeding, making him bleed. Because he ain't bleeding out. Whatever your goal is to try and embarrass him or clown him or whatever. You might be the one needing to change your address. Because he's not changing an address. So just looking at Russ's contractor. He still has his 23 salary and 24 salary and bonuses fully guaranteed. The Broncos really can't get out of this deal until 2026. Yeah, he's going nowhere. So you better go to his birthday party if you want to hang out in the Denver. It's a $25 million house. Wouldn't you want to go see? And by the way, TJ, hold on a second. Stop. Ciara is there. Stop it. That's my point. Hey, they'll too. First of all, let's be honest. The 49th through 53 man on the roster. They are getting invited to Sierra's party, right? Yeah, I'm sorry, but they're just not getting invited. It's next week going to break down who on the practice squad was there. Only 30% of the practice squad showed up. That's how unpopular us is in the locker room. Look, we didn't expect the whole team to be invited to see our business the whole business of scream run screen pass. I'm a leader and all that stuff that a lot of people think it's fake or needs to be made fun of a little too much. Maybe a little bit too much great. But that's who he is. Broncos country, let's ride, no matter if you've missed on 30 passes, that's who he is. The danger Ross sandwich, all of this stuff. This is who he is. You don't like it? Get out because he's going nowhere. Whoever is whispering about is RSVP list? Let's call it what it is. They will change the coach, the general manager, and the roster before they change him right now, and you're not going to change him and hits to who he is. But what he is is no longer the guy who showed up in week one with those stats. It's terrible. Not even close. I saw a stat he was the 33rd ranked quarterback last week out of only 32 started people. Look, you can't all be Mike white, man. They all can't be Mike white. Get the fur coat. So again, whoever is agenda is to clown Ross. Guess what? You might be the one with the red nose on.

"Fueled by ten other guys who want to say the same damn thing. So the one thing I really liked about the point you made on your podcast more to it, part of the Dan Patrick podcast network is how so much of what Russell has done over the years is the second reaction stuff, which is why I'm not really buying the new offense thing that much. Because what's always made him a special player is the second reaction stuff, I don't know if he has anymore. I don't know if he can do it anymore. And if he doesn't have the second reaction stuff, he's got a problem and Denver's got a major problem. Yeah, if you think about it, Russell Wilson has thrived off a plan B in terms of play calling for so long. And now, because he's not honed in on those fundamentals, plan a, staying on scripts, staying on schedule. It seems like it's a little too late to try and fix his issues. I don't know what's going to be to solve, but it won't be different play calling because Russell Wilson, his reflexes are to always let the play break down. Not to stay on that first read, second read, and then try to bail out. But Russell Wilson likes to bail out first. And that's when he has the most success. So you think about it, it's been really disguised because he's had a tremendous defense in Seattle in the early years, especially. And he had the running game in Seattle. So now you're in just to play action passing, safer passage. And also a time for you to take off and get big dividends. Now they're just saying, look, we know what you like to do Russell Wilson, so we're gonna take that off the board. Now you have to beat us by being disciplined. Now you have to beat us by that strict play call and Russell Wilson so far a felon at it.

"And this is what I know works, and these are things I know you can do. So this is the offense we're going to run. We're going to go back to week one. That's what we're going to do. Now here's the deal. This is it, and this is like right out of the Mike Shanahan playbook. I'm not a dictatorship. I'm a democracy. Okay? So I'm going to give you a decision. You've got a decision to make. You can either play the style that we're going to play this weekend. Or you can sit on the bench. There's a two choices. It's entirely up to you. Because I don't give a bleep, which one you choose. But here's what we're going to do. Problem is, and I love it. It sounds awesome, is Nathaniel Hackett capable. Of becoming that kind of guy. Going from, hey, it's all about Russ. To all of a sudden laying down that kind of ultimatum. If he can, great. If you can't. Then you know what you got to do. You got to go find yourself a real adult. To be the head coach. Well, that's what's got to happen. And I don't know that that I'm with you. I don't know that that will happen. But it's got to happen. All right, some more good ideas coming in. We'll get to those as we roll along. Looking for solutions. To the Russell Wilson problem, not complaining, solutions. "We why are we hearing this stuff? Why is rust being and by the way, I'm not feeling sorry for Russ, I'm just saying, why is in this case is rust being made to be the scapegoat, whereas, you know, Nathaniel Hackett apparently is in still in good standing. Well, because Russ is the guy you brought in to, I mean, you've been told your whole career since you've been here that we're just a quarterback away from being a really good football. I mean, how many of those guys, how many guys have bought into that to that narrative? Were one quarterback away from being a really good team. And I thought, hey Ben, I thought they'd be a ten win team. I really did. And I thought that even after they lost to Seattle, did they be a ten win team? There's nobody on Planet Earth that thought even the people that were anti rust people that thought this drop would be this precipitous. And yeah, I always hate it when, you know, now all of a sudden the cockroaches are coming out of the woodwork to tell you how much they don't like rust now or, you know, that they were looking side eye. That report was never that report was never released during training camp. No. It wasn't released during, you know, it wasn't released during any of this time. But it's not even, it's not even we talked about that back in training camp. The idea that, you know what, this will become an issue, just like it did in Seattle. If he doesn't play well, if he plays well, and the Broncos play well, guess what? Nobody will care. Right. We said that way back in August. So the fact that it's become a thing now, or it was even considered a thing back then, but it's now coming to light now. No surprise. It's not earth shattering. Yeah. We talked about it back when camp was getting ready to start that probably there's already, I know we have that guy. Recall vividly having the conversation. Well, I bet there's some eye rolling going on right now. Right. But Russ is the guy. And the expectations are high and if he delivers, nobody will care. He hasn't delivered. Now it's the thing. The question, here's what I want to do though. And it's so easy just to just bash on the Broncos, bash on Hackett, bash on Russell Wilson and just continue to bring up examples that we can continue to play audio of national Talking Heads who are just bagging and ripping on Ross and dumping on the Broncos. Here's what I want to do today. I don't want complaining. I want solutions. What do you do? How do we fix this? He's not going anywhere. He's going to be your quarterback next year. So what do you do? What do you do to start making this thing work? Give me solutions, not complaints. Rommel saw dot com tax line 303-713-1043 next. "Yeah? And it got me to thinking yesterday as I was kind of going back through some notes and just thinking about what I had looked at. And you know what this says about the Broncos? It says, this is a, this is a Carolina tea. How many games do they want three? Four, four games. Carolina team that lined up in man coverage. And say we don't respect you enough. We don't respect you up front. We don't respect your receivers, and we don't respect your quarterback. We don't respect you enough to sit back. We don't respect you enough to play legitimate. We're going to blitz you, we're going to pressure you and we're going to play man to man coverage. And you can't beat us. And worth three win free team. Yep. That's, I mean, if you want to know what a team thinks about you, watch the film. The Carolina Panthers were saying, hey Denver, you guys suck so bad on offense. That we have zero respect for you. Zero respect for Russell Wilson. Zero respect for him being able to throw us out of this, zero respect for him to be able to scramble us out of this out of this defense. Zero. None. Nil, nada. Just thought I'd bring that. I bring that joyful news. That's a real. Let me go back to talking about driving with just a sliver of windshield available to me. Far more upbeat. It's true. It's what you know, it's kind of what you think about when you go back and re digest, if you will, like a cow chew in its cud. Re digest all the things you had seen, and all the things you had seen will make you throw up, by the way. But all the things that you've seen over the course of watching that stuff and going, wow, this is really, this is one of three win team or whatever, whatever Carolina was going into that game, thanks of you. Oh, they can't beat us. Well, it's not exactly fresh news that you're breaking here. It's something we're all aware of, but just like rats trying to escape the sinking ship. New reports. I use the air quotes there around the reports are coming out. You got to Tom palace of the NFL networks, the insider saying, quote, Russ has lost some people around that team. He has lost some people in that locker room, Belo Sara also says Nathaniel Hackett is not lost. The Broncos room. Mike garafolo on the same show said this about Russell Wilson, quote privately, we are being told early on, these guys were looking at Wilson's side eyed when he was doing all his kinds of goofy stuff all off season in the training camp. So, what does that tell you?

"Rich eisen show studio in Los Angeles. Picked up at the 20 yard line intercepted by the bill. Cuts down the bus and smoke. The rich eisen show. Earlier on the show. Two times Super Bowl champion Chris long. NFL network analyst Steve merici. Still to come. Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson. Broncos country, let's rock. And now. It's rich ISON. Our number three of the rich eisen show is on the air right here on the Roku channel channel two ten if you missed any of the first two hours that featured a great chat with Chris long and his usual Monday spot and a wonderful visit as always in studio when Steve mariucci stops by and overreaction Monday and phone calls and my reaction to what's going on in Green Bay as well as everything in the bill's chiefs neighborhood and the Dallas Philadelphia neighborhood from last night. Stay tuned right where you are because as soon as our number three is over on channel two ten, we re air in the first two hours show up and then the third hour doesn't get in and I literally could keep on and on and on talking about how we re air. But there is an entire full third hour to get to and that includes Russell Wilson, who's playing football tonight just up the road. In SoFi Stadium in a big game for the two and three Denver Broncos and the three N two Los Angeles chargers. We talked to Brandon Stanley last week. We talked to Russell Wilson in just a few minutes time. And don't miss it. Great conversation coming up right here on the program. 8 four four two O four riches, the number to dial here on the show Christopher, good to see you over there. Good to see you rich with TJ Mikey D is indeed nuts good to see you over there. TJ Jefferson, good to see you where you are. Good to see you. Still smelling like strawberry pound cake over here because of this candle. That sounds good. I appreciate the update. Delicious. I appreciate the update on that. All right, folks, as you can tell, I'm wearing green today. On purpose? Yes. This wasn't by accident, Chris. It's the color of the bay. Where my clad green clad team went in yesterday and did something that is a site for very, very sore, kicked in the teeth by football God's eyes. The New York Jets went in and won in Lambeau Field for the first time, since Zach Wilson was 7 years old. Now I understand. I understand he was just ten of 18 for a 110 yards passing. I understand that. And I understand that the scheduling gods are the ones who could have helped make that length of time possible because it's not like the jets go into Lambeau Field and play him every year. I understand that, but it's been a long time for the jets to actually go into such hallowed ground inhabited by the ghosts of goats, as well as an actual one in Aaron Rodgers. And to go in there and not only win buddy. Absolutely ponca. Hit him and hit him hard and hit him often and then hit him harder and then when they're trying to come back, make sure that they don't. I don't. I don't know what to make of it. Other than the fact of sit back and actually and enjoy it. I'm not gonna sit here and go, well, what if the trapdoor opens up? What if this happens? What if that happens? I'm not gonna do it anymore. You know why? Because I'm taking the lead from these jets. I'm taking the lead from these kids and their kids 21, 22, 23. They don't know for my foibles. They don't know from my decades of. Fetal positions. They don't get it. They don't know it. So why do I need to put my crap on them? It's kind of like parenting. Let the kids do it. I'll sit back and maybe learn a thing or two from the youngins. I'll learn from them. They're not afraid of anybody. They're afraid of no one and sure they may eventually get beat by the bills. And bad. And bill's coming to town. And we know he loves to torment the jets and he loves to do it when we think we've got the upper hand. They're coming in with Bayley zappy or Matt Jones, fresh back from a quarterback controversy? Matt ten. We think we got the upper hand. Well, here comes Bill to spend a little magic on Zach Wilson and show Robert sala thing or two just like he did Stefanski yesterday. I don't care. I'm not going to worry about it anymore. I'm just going to sit back and actually enjoy the ride. How about that? We're an enjoyable ride. Yeah. It's an enjoyable ride. That was great from start to finish. And even when? I started slipping back into my old habits. Like Robert sala trying to 50 some odd field goal, 50 some odd guard field goal right before halftime with Greg sirloin, who on brand missed one? And I'm sitting here thinking, great, you hand it back to Aaron Rodgers with timeouts left. And sure enough. He kicks off gets that field goal right before they have to tie the game. I started slipping back and all happened. I'm like, no, no, don't worry about it. You got the better team. What? Yeah. You get the better team. So that's my counsel to jet fans who might feel the same way I do.

"Whatever it happens to be, that's how we get in it. Period. I ain't got no reason to hate on Russell Wilson. Like I said, I've covered that dude since he was a red shirt freshman. At NC state, right? Like I've been around this. I've seen this. I know what the things are. His coach didn't know. His coach did like him in college, we blamed that largely on the coach, which was fair because Russell was in his guy. But then it continued as we went on. And I've just, I've just never seen anything like this. Now, my man David makes a good point though when he's right, his cat's coming out rusty, they can get away with it. They ain't doing this to other quarterbacks, right? He ate the first quarterback that everybody didn't like, but they come in for him. He ain't the only one in the league right now. Did not that everybody don't like. I sent you a text about one of them, a little bit earlier, and it's realer than you'd ever imagine with that other dude. Yeah, I'm not surprised. He's the type of guy that you better be balling out. Hold up, hold up. Play the music play the music. Thank you for your patience. A representative from the right time will be with you shortly. "And they are testing for the wrong things. Just 'cause your dude is a great offensive coordinator, great defensive coordinator. Don't mean he know how to be a head coach because the job is entirely different. And he was never calling plays before. But this time he call in place any managing the game and doing both quite poorly I might add? Yeah, Denver's going to be interesting because they, I mean, they were a roster waiting on a quarterback, right? And hack it correct me if I'm wrong, he's kind of up that Shanahan kubiak school of things, right? I wonder how Russell Wilson gonna feel when he realized, you know what those guys like to do, run the ball. Right? And by the way, I think the best way to use Russell Wilson is to run the ball a lot and then have him make big plays on top of the running, right? Use the fact that he can move. My concern with Russell Wilson is Russell Wilson 33 years old, been taking 45 sacks a year for ten years. And has not been nearly as good the last couple of years as he had been previously and I don't think that people really kept a watch on that one. And so I want to see how they deal with each other because again, Russ got to be salty, but the way that they played it with him. He can't be happy with the idea that they did what they did in the last minute of that game. He got to be mad as hell just like everybody else would be mad as hell about that one. And Russell Wilson, hey man, as we've seen with Seattle. How well he gets along with everybody is debatable. Yeah. They were thirsty for a quarterback in Denver, so they gonna give him a little bit of leeway, I think, for a while. But I also was like, I'm not cool enough to pull off some of the looks that players do, which is fine. So I'm not sure if Russell's tuxedo, his shimmery tux look was whack or he had it on. It's the latter. It's the latter. That suit was clean as hell. Y'all just thought it was wet 'cause it was him. That's super clean. Thanks for clearing that out for me. Hit that good shine to it like that light green sort of thing. Oh no, I thought that he killed it if it wasn't him. Yeah, that was my question and it's not even that he don't got the demeanor to pull it off. It's also like you and I are fortunate in this like we're kind of lean guys and you're tall, so like those look good on you. You know? Ruffle like kind of built like a fullback. He goes square body in a square shimmery green suit. It's like, nah, man. And then giving them lame quotes in that. Yeah. And he should marry his attire with his demeanor. Like, you're not a shimmery shoe guy? But what we don't know, maybe he is. We don't know what we did not know was that he would ever wind up married to a woman whose middle name was princess, but here we are. Now aren't we? He is, he is an in law of the field mob. None of us ever thought that that was going to happen. Like the most unlikely development in the NFL in my whole life is Russell Wilson turning up with Sierra and yes, no I didn't. Forget about just Sierra, right? I'm thinking of blue.

"I did not see the game on Monday night with the Seahawks and the Broncos. Were you surprised that Russell Wilson got booed in Seattle? I was surprised, but I wasn't shocked, I guess, is the way I would put it. All the stories started coming out about, I don't know, it was kind of an organized campaign, these stories start coming out right before the game and the fans obviously there are legions to the team and not to the players. I think what shocked me more than anything was, it seemed like he don't got no friends. Y'all. It's so weird for somebody who is not an ass. You know, I could see why people would be like, hey cool, I don't really mess with them, but I feel like people actually actively don't like him, which is like, I don't know. I don't quite get it. Yo, so a couple things there. One, what I took from them booing him was the fans don't view him as being responsible for the Super Bowl in the ways that fans typically associate with a quarterback. I mean, they have been in quarterback heaven basically for the last ten years by having him, right? It's very hard to have that sort of thing. It's very rare that you got a situation like that. And normally, even if there's beef, this kind of a man, we want a Super Bowl. We had a great run with you, right? We gonna clap to support that one. Nope, they went on the booze thing, even if he wanted to be traded, right? Keeping in mind that the Seahawks wanted to trade him, which is its own fascinating story again because they were in quarterback heaven and they were still like nah, dog. We don't want no parts of this right here. Like, that part surprised me, but the bigger part, I think is what you touched on is I've never seen a player, not even Jay Cutler, right? Who you played with? Never seen a dude where everybody that seemed to be at least part of a certain era was just down on him. Doug Baldwin, all that money you got, got a lot to do with playing with Russell Wilson. He had something to say. Richard Sherman, we're not surprised because we had heard this from all those legion of boom guys as far back as it went and you're right. Russell's not an ass, but what seems clear to me, right? And you tell me if I'm wrong here, I was having a conversation with my good buddy, David Dennis, because I saw him all around the horn. And his argument was basically that the dudes think Russell is corny, and since they think he's corny, they come in at him, and I'm like, no, no, no, no, no. This isn't the way people like when they think you corny, this is the way people act when they think you phony.

Russell Wilson Booed by Seahawks Fans

"What that should look like. Yeah, I saw the box score before I watched the game. So I wanted to see how much of those pressures the sacks were on Trey Lance versus the line. And the answer is both were responsible. Lance holds onto the football too long. And he is responsible for some of those precious, but boy did this niners offensive line have some issues. And we really should have anticipated this coming to the season, particularly on the interior with a new center with Alex Mac retiring, and of course garden has been a problem for them. But Michael glint, the right taco got beat all day long and what concerns me in particular in this game is the bears four man rush, pressured Lance at a higher rate than the niners four man rush. One of those teams has Nick Bosa, guys. You should not be performing better than them. So I think that's a problem that's going to persist for a while until they get cleaned up. I was coming in here down and thinking about them. I know. Thank you. It's been around you guys really helped me. But I think for me, I was looking at the game, me and me was talking in the green room, and I said, debo Sammy had ever 6 yards of carry, and Trey lands average 5 year olds that carry. They almost rushed for a 180 odds in this game, but you think about how we always talk about the San Francisco forty-niners plane. And that's why I attribute the weather more than a normal team. Because when you look at the past protection for example, MK, this is not a team that's used to dropping back. On 5 step drops. When you go in east and west like they do, it's very difficult, man, to continue to stay in your rhythm in my opinion. Well, my concern is with the Internet offensive line because it's a run game that Josh will be north south. Trey Lance, but if the interior can't get any push, they might not be able to achieve it. Well, I'll tell you this. For everybody who was like, oh, it's okay. They got Jimmy G, you stupid. Right? 'cause I don't want that much pressure. I don't want that much pressure in my quarterback room. If you're just like, you're adjusted feels, and you got nothing. But he's just playing free and he's having fun and he's running around and making plays and trade Lance looks tight and he's overthinking and all these things, but you got all this stuff around you, but you know what else you got? You got a quarterback there where a lot of the same people went to a Super Bowl. A quarterback with a lot of the same people went to the NFC championship still in your room. It's hard to be free. It's hard to be free when you know I got hurt in the week. I was like, are they going to turn this to me? Exactly. So now if you're a Trey Lance, you got to go out and play and just focus on you and not what's behind. And maybe it doesn't matter how nice Jimmy G's been about all this. Can I be friends with your exes, man? You can't be Friends. Hey guys, we get time for one more thing before we go. It's really good. Check out this block here that you're gonna get from the second by Leonard fournette, man Lenny's just out there doing it. Okay, so the block that you'll see knocks Micah Parsons to the ground. The bucks running back close to the clip to Twitter starting to back and forth between the two for all the world to see. I think we're gonna load that up as well. It said, so the reigning defensive rookie of the year said in part, now go watch the tape and see what happened when it was me and him one on one. For net responded with the crying Jordan meme of his own RC, I'll just let you make sense of it all. Well, I would say what? A sense to make of it. I'm gonna be honest. Michael Parsons is a dog. He is super talented and he is athletic and mean and all those things. Number 7 is about all that extra money. He is not. Listen, I got a friend that got us saying when we were around like mean dudes who act like they want to fight all the time. He always say, and he ain't acting. Number 7 is not acting. That's something we gonna just leave on the field. Dan, you are always acting. I'm just kidding. All right, we'll see you tomorrow on NFL live.

"Called this one. What's the next one? It was never the same look. Seen twice coverage wise. And it really seemed that it was going to force Las Vegas to go to hunter Renfro more to beat them, and they didn't. And that was the difference the game was how impressive coaching wise, the plan was for the Chargers defense. I got to play my favorite game within the game, which is where is Derwin James. We got snack counts, 26 of safety, ten in the slot, went outside corner 90 outside linebacker, three and inside linebacker 7 on the edge. Surprised they didn't have them snapping the ball. This is not new. We know dermot James is one of the most versatile players in the NFL, but what is new or at least what struck me watching them in this particular game is because of the talent around him now. Both in the secondary and especially up front with that four man roger Cleo Mack. They can do whatever they want with it, whether it's blitzing him at the beginning of the game, having him man up Waller and Adams, he's probably one of the very few things he's the NFL who's freaking capable of that. He's no longer in need. He's like a want. It's weird to call a star player a luxury, but in that defense pardon me because there's so much talent there, now he is a luxury. They can do whatever they want with him and he is dangerous as a result. Well, we all know I love talking to coaches who love defense. I got an opportunity to speak with Brandon staley in the off season and all he could talk about. Well, about 4000. That's the last year. We spoke more so about the reasons he won't have to go for it on fourth down as much this year and that's because he can get off the field on third down defensively. He talked about the new acquisitions and how that would allow him to build the defense around Derwin James the way they built the offense around Justin Herbert and what Mena said was absolutely true. Last year he was moved around to feel hoes. He was moved around. For if you raise kids, you know, some kids are react to negative motivations, right? So it was negative. Oh my gosh, we can't get a rush. Let's rush Derwin. Oh my gosh, we can't cover this guy. Let's cover him. He's the band aid. Oh, we're getting beat in the middlefield, put him in. Now it's like, man, we have a matchup problem here, put Durbin there. We have a metro problem there. Derwin can win. And when you can do that defensively, it's why I said during the summer, I believe he will be in the defensive player of the year conversation because he will have stats in every category and it won't be those draymond green stacks. It'll be the LeBron James. We often call Herbert the ultimate eraser and it seems like Derwin James for their defense. It is. Absolutely. That was a shot right there. Marcus. Marcus, the draymond of this show. You agree with different stuff. Looked good, Marcus. Okay, but take us to the D line and the debut of Khalil Mack. What did you see? I mean, I ever sturdy, okay? For me, y'all know how much I talk about being able to rush the initially today in order to be a championship team, you got to be able to sit down sometimes in rush for a guys. And when they got Khalil Meg is when this team to me ascended to being the best team in this division because when you look at this unit, especially against the Las Vegas Raiders, we were sitting here a couple days ago talking about how do you defend these guys. Like what do you do to get a devonta Adams and a Darren Waller and a hunter Renfro off the field, especially with a run game with Josh Jacobs. This is your answer to that. And then, too, like, we all know this plan. Sometimes your career is revitalized by your opportunities. And I think Khalil Mack is living in that moment now. You leave Las Vegas and you go to Chicago, where you're destiny, you're not winning games, you're still a good player. Everybody regards you as a good player. But now we see impact because every game is going to be on television, every game is a big game. You got three of the ten best quarterbacks in your own division and it paid dividends the first game of the season against a divisional opponent. He is going to be the difference to this team winning the championship. You see on their 6 acts for the Chargers defense well, three of them came from Khalil Mack. He literally had half of all the sex. It speaks to how dominant it was. Yeah, what? A third of my hey, still no deal for Lamar Jackson in the ravens, Lamar ended the contract talks before the season started, and it's hit a bit of a stalemate. So Diana, you caught up with Lamar at the end of the game on Sunday. What did he tell you about the contract situation? Well, first off for the weekend, Chris Morton said reported that the Baltimore Ravens did offer Lamar Jackson, a 5, 6 year deal worth about $250 million, a 133 million dollars at signing. We know that's very different than what Desean Watson got it. And he got it all guaranteed money, right? So a 133 guaranteed. So I talked to the Mark about it. First is best of us. If that was the offer and he said, yeah, I turned that down. And there was actually some other things in the contract that had more value and he still didn't agree that that was what he was worth. So, you know, he was very transparent. He's just said, that's just not the number I'm willing. I'm willing to sign for. And when I asked him if he was going to continue playing the rest of the season without a deal in place for next year, he just told me, we'll have to see. So a little door open there as we have to go by week here with Lamar Jackson to see what he decides to do. Yeah, that's interesting. Seems like he's betting on himself, but maybe we do see a point where he steps off of the field. Thanks, Diana. Let's take it on the field. For some quick reads on the ravens market you like what you saw from Lamar on Sunday? Yeah, why moving the ball around? Obviously, we talk about how much Lamar gets locked in on Mark Andrews, but to hit duvernay with a shot over the top of a really good throw and then the pirate Rashad Bateman downfield. But what I liked about it was eliminating the mistakes, right? Like a lot of times Jamal was pressing trying to be the only one in this offense. I like that he spread the ball around and use those wide receivers. Here's what I didn't like. The reason to run game, which is so weird 'cause when we watch them, we're so used to seeing these backs. He doesn't matter who's playing running back, get 5, 6 yards a pop. It's an easy blocking, but it just wasn't the case against the New York Jets. Only 8 yards from the non Lamar's in the first half when they were easily outrushed by the jets. Look, they didn't have JK dobbins, but were concerned me was the blocking. Yes, Ronnie Stanley was out, but I felt like the interior of the offensive line just wasn't moving bodies the way we're used to. That's something you want to see improved. Hey, I'm just fanning you guys off after that fire test. That thing was so much fun. Take a belt. He's the best man. Yeah. Oh, that's so nice and humble Dan. We're back on NFL live. Hey man, that was sloppy that filled with the bears in the forty-niners in Chicago. The bears of course won the game. You saw a couple of nice throws from Trey Lance though, we were watching the film earlier, maybe not all bad for that forty-niners offense, but either way, the bears did not send a single blitz at land. They were able to get to him despite that. Chicago pressured Lance 12 times and he struggled against it, completing just one of his 7 attempts and that one completion went for a loss of yards. He was also sacked twice. So Dan was this simply bad weather or did you see more issues for lands? More issues but they're the same issues. Mechanics, they have to get faster and they have to tighten up real quickly. At the end of the game interception, Eddie Jackson have is a perfect example of how much time this is going to take for train lengths to get this fixed. This is a simple concept it's called F host. It's a shallow cross and then a widened release short post. Now Eddie Jackson dropped down and right now, he's telling trillions. I'm going to the show across. This is actually a great play by the Jackson. Bones should come out right now though with train lands. But watch his back foot hit the ground. Back put it in the ground, a hitch, and then the ball comes out. That actually allows it ejection to go to the shallow cross, then out to that short post. So that's what I mean by saying it's got to get faster. That is a 5 step past concept that should be operated in three step timing. It should be catch. I see him go back foot hit and the ball comes out if that happens. It's a completion. But it's going to take time for that young man to get these hundreds and thousands of reps that are necessary. To get the feel of

"Two jam packed you guys so glad you're with us. Mina kind Marcus gears Ryan Clark dealer laskey here and later we get RC versus Dan back on the touch screen again. Can't wait to get in the back. And you think Justin Jefferson's unstoppable they're going to tell you a plan to try and defend him. But first, let's go back to Monday night. Guys, this is for you, mean a kind. Russell Wilson, back in Seattle. So can you go in, get ready to go? Second quarter Broncos trail in ten to three, Dan Wilson finds Jerry Judy, not a great throw. To be honest with the man coverage over Kobe Bryant but Judy does an awesome job of coming back to that football. And then running away from the defensive, it felt like the Denver offense was gonna get going. Broncos tie it at ten and next drive for the Seahawks, how would they respond? Well, Gino Smith, who was great all night, an opportunity to connect here in Colby Parkinson's streaking down the right half. I love the design of that one, a little bit of a horizontal stretch for the defense and then you attack the scene with the vertical ball. No one saw it coming. Seahawks leading into the half 17 to 13. Halfway through the third quarter, same score fourth and gold for the Broncos. Yeah, get out of shotgun. That's number one. Get the hell out of shotgun. And run a toss and give the running back a couple options of huts to get in the end zone. All you coaches out there. Why are you so cool? He's mad because he picks up. Because look at this again. But so did we. Peace bubbles. This is so unusual. You'd have a couple guys fumbling on the one yard line, but what are you gonna do? Broncos, zero and four in the red zone with two turnips. The face in third and 14 to go and Wilson finds Williams that check down, fighting his way there for 9 yards. So the Broncos choose to run the clock. We'll get into this a little bit later. Try a 64 yard field goal for the win. Brandon McManus. With this opportunity, but man, as Mina chimes was screaming with joy, he hooked it less. The potential game winner, not enough, and that spoils Wilson's return to Seattle and Nathaniel Hackett's head coaching debut leaves a bit to be desired. Marcus, you alluded to a little bit of it there, but what did you make of the end of game decisions? Yeah, look, Russia have been involved in that decision. Russia should have said coach listen, I think we need to call the time out. Or even go rogue and call one. He's been in this situation been in fourth quarter. He's one of those quarterbacks where we talk about how much success he's had in these particular situations and also to the coaching staff, but as the quarterback who just got the money, you have the cache. And the career. To say, hey man, I'm a call time out. I'll take the brunt of the coaching staff being mad, but I want us to be in the best possible situation for us. Forward. I'm not blaming Russ. This isn't the thing you're hacking. But he could have done that as a player with the type of cachet he has in that organization. Well, I don't know if he'd be going rogue necessarily because all summer long we've been hearing from everybody in Denver, this is a partnership. Finally, Russ gets to collaborate with his head coach. Yes. That did not look like a partnership out there. Certainly not an equal one based on the decision, but what struck me, I think after the game, as I was thinking about that decision and why it was made and perhaps who could have stopped it, was something that I think maybe we should have actually acknowledged all summer when we were hyped not we, but people were hyping the Broncos, which is this is an incredibly inexperienced coaching staff. We talk about Nathaniel Hackett being the head coach and not having experience, but his offensive coordinator is the first time offensive coordinator. Defensive coordinator, even the special teams is the first die special teams coordinator. And I think sometimes that's something we perhaps underestimate when we look at a contender is the importance of having that sort of institutional experience of gravitas and somebody who can maybe come over the top and say, hey man, not the right move. But you mentioned, you mentioned partnership when you trade for Russell Wilson. When you pay them 256 million, you're not doing that for a silent partner. You're doing that for someone who can be a coach on the field. You're doing that for a guy that can be the leader and say, no, right now we need a timeout, at least let's have the discussion. But if you're in the thing you're hacking and you're on this team and you understand why you bring Russell Wilson over and then every time he speaks, he says he's one of the best and it's not about winning one or two or three super bowls. It's about how many we can win overall. This is the moment to start that and not the moment from just the X's and those coaching level. It's the moment to say, as the leader of this team, as the head coach, I believe in this dude, so much that fourth and 5 to me is way better than a 64 yard field goal. And the one thing Brandon staley did last year, no matter how much it upset me, is I know he believes in him. He believes in number ten more than number ten his mama believe in him. Yeah. And he showed us that every 4000. Nathaniel Hackett missed an opportunity to teach his teammates. Listen, I'm with you guys. I just don't believe they lost a game because that fourth and 5 call. They lost the game because the whole operation of the last two minute drive. You guys, there was a moment, it was second and four. There's two minutes and 33 seconds left on the clock. They got three timeouts and a two minute warning. Now they go run the ball in second down. So the two minute happens and it's 32. They get a 9 yard completion. Right now, Java two ones get out of bounds because you're already outside the numbers with the first down. That bolt snapped at two minutes. They don't get another snap off for 36 seconds. No time out, no out of bounds. They throw the screen fast. This to me is the play of the game. Cody Barton turns first in ten into second and 14. If he doesn't make that play, jump up to one's legitimately might score. He's going to get third or fourth 30 or 40 yards. The next play happens at one 13 because they popped a timeout finally. Okay, they just go to quickly throw a slant and Russell grabs the ball and decides to run. This is what should have happened. When the two minute warning happens in its third and two, you get to the sideline. Coach, what's the play? When we get the first down, what's the immediate next play? I don't care how many yards we get. So we're moving quickly. 36 seconds passing is unacceptable. No time out getting used is unacceptable. The weird part is this. Russell Wilson started that drive in Joe buck and Troy Aikman put up this graphic in the last ten years. He's second in the NFL and comebacks in the fourth quarter. He's been in a bunch. The thing you had just came from Green Bay when Aaron Rodgers did a hundred of them in the last three years. He's done it a bunch. The mismanagement is what lost that game. Not that fourth down decision. Okay, we can't move on here though without giving the Seahawks the credit. Come on, Mina. I mean, Geno Smith, everyone doubted him and he comes out and does what he did. There was another quarterback on the field. And what a moment for him. Before we get to the football side of it, just watching him walk off as the crowd shouting Gino in his tenth season in the NFL, I get that has to be such an incredible feeling. And I'll add this, it shouldn't be entirely surprising that he played well. He has not been given many good opportunities in this league. And during the preseason, even though he quote unquote struggled, most of the time it wasn't his fault, he was actually accurate and makes a decision. We were out there, Laura and I, for Monday Night Football, watching him practicing multiple times. You're like, man, Geno is throwing the absolute heck out of the box. He has a strong arm, he is accurate during the preseason. There were a lot of drops, what impressed me the most so about last night was how he played under pressure with 5 to 6 for a perfect passer rating. Stood tall in the top pocket through some really difficult throws. And I thought that was mean. It's time for a new tech though. It wrote me off. And I am right back. Let's go. I'll get that tat. I don't care. I'm not even sure. I feel live logo. Yeah, let's go. Handing out tats and new t-shirts, who knows. All right, new on NFL live. Lots of news on the injury front around the league and this in from Adam scepter doctors determined this afternoon that steelers linebacker TJ watt does not need surgery on his torn pectoral. Now he's expected to miss about 6 weeks per a source. So interesting because we were wondering exactly what that timeline would look like we said yesterday if they don't have JJ? I mean, TJ, excuse me, they're in a situation where this season may be over now. That looks a lot more optimistic. Let's get to dak Prescott, though, potentially good news for the cowboys. We initially thought the timeline on Dax recovery from his thumb injury was missing 6 to 8 weeks time. Now looking like that time to be shorter. So here's Jerry Jones today with more. I

Seahawks survive Russell Wilson's return, top Broncos 17-16

"The Seahawks spoiled Russell Wilson's return to Seattle with a 1716 victory over the Denver Broncos Geno Smith who had to fill in the vacancy when Wilson was traded to the Broncos in the off season passed for 195 yards and two first half touchdowns People can write you off but you know life's about what you make it And so I've just been blessed enough to be in the NFL for ten years and been working my butt off and it's a team game and we got to win tonight as a team Wilson passed for 340 yards and a score as the Broncos piled up 433 total net yards but Denver failed to capitalize turning the ball over twice with fumbles at the Seattle goal line Jim Bernard Seattle

"I think that the same. Mid season four. Forty-niners. Offense is the highest variance group in football, meaning they could underperform relative to last season if Trey Lance is consistency on a downtown basis doesn't improve. But they could reach a ceiling that they have not reached in years because of his skill with his legs, his arm strength, I'm telling you the upper end of this offense is in outer space. Don't let the Las Vegas Raiders defense get hot with new defensive coordinator Patrick Graham. This offense is going to be hell on wheels, y'all. You got to determine who you gonna cover on that side of the ball. But if this team come together, up front and on the back end if they get some synergy with triple more rig and they put Abrams around that box. And they are able to cover people. You may be looking at a team that we may be counting out a little bit too early in this AFC west arms race. I know we're going to talk about Waller and we're going to talk about Adams and hunter Renfro and Derek Carr. If this raiders defense get hot, you may be looking at the best team at football. Man, y'all get me so excited for the season just a week away. And by the way, I'm going to campaign that we get some fans like that in the studio here. You can just all have a win blown moment. It looked great. Marcus's hair. Let's get back to our top story today. Russell Wilson signed a 5 year contract extension with the Broncos today as Bruce reported by Adam Schefter. It's worth 245 million a 165 million of that is guaranteed money and Wilson's entering his 11th season in the NFL. His first ten were historic. Wilson has the second most passing touchdowns by any player in their first ten seasons in NFL's history, trailing only Peyton Manning. He's 9 Pro Bowl selections are the most by any quarterback through their first ten seasons all time. As are his 113 wins, including the playoffs. Adam, how'd this deal come together? Well, Laura, what was it that Marlon Humphrey the ravens cornerback said, Walmart money is different? Well, there is an example of how different it is with Russell Wilson, cashing in today on that 200 million plus $1 million contract $245 million extension and think about this three of the highest paid quarterbacks in football. Now are in the AFC west. The only one that is not in that group is Justin Herbert and after this off season, I would imagine he'll be joining Russell Wilson Patrick Mahomes and Derek Carr. And from the moment the Broncos traded for Russell Wilson, it was only a matter of time before that deal got done. The Broncos changed hands of ownership in early August, the two sides set out to do this deal. They wanted to get it done before the regular season began. I think a lot of people thought Lamar Jackson would be the next quarterback contract to get done. But it was Russell Wilson. It was. And you keep bringing up Lamar Jackson for good reason. Let's get to that side of this. Our resident GM Mike tannenbaum was asked this morning. If today's news was good or bad for Lamar, who's, of course, trying to get his new deal in place. Take a listen to what Tana bomb said. I think it hurts him from a standpoint. It's another deal away from that fully guaranteed contract that only deshaun Watson and the Cleveland Browns agreed to. This is much more akin as the graphics showed Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, kyla Murray, and Russell Wilson at an average per year is now the second highest paid quarterback, which seems to be right. And if I'm now the ravens, I'm saying, hey, Lamar, let's slot you in here. There's a deal to be done that one other deal is done by the crazy Cleveland Browns. Crazy Cleveland Browns. Mina, do you agree with tannenbaum there? Well, I think the, from the Raven standpoint, precedent certainly matters. It always matters when we talk about these mega deals, especially quarterback contracts. Obviously the team will say, hey, look at these deals, set aside, what do you call them the crazy Cleveland Browns? There is precedent for this level of guarantees. However, really, Laura, for Lamar, it just comes down to his risk tolerance. If he's willing to play on the option and potentially un a tag, who cares how much other quarterbacks are making. If he's willing to take on that risk in search of a higher reward with all that guaranteed money and potentially a bigger payday down the road, then he can achieve that providing he stays healthy, but that's ultimately up to him and not up to the ravens. And I think that's going to be the point upon which this negotiation swigs. All right, y'all, I got to talk to Lamar, okay? Listen. Talk to him. I get it. I get it. And I hope I know that the Desean Watson contract is out there with the Cleveland Brown, but man if these folks offer you 200 million plus dollars in guaranteed money if it's 200 million at 200 million guarantees. Man, go get your money. You're 25 years old. You are going to be up again for another contract. Laura willing, you stay healthy. I look at this situation differently and I've changed three to four times to try to navigate what the energy is like between him and the Baltimore Ravens and I'm a big proponent of telling guy. Hey man, don't go out there if you don't have your money, especially when you in line to get the type of money that Lamar Jackson is potentially to get. If Colin Murray got a $189 million based on that graphic guarantee, then Lamar Jackson should be at 200 million. Now, if the Baltimore Ravens ain't there, if they are underneath where Colin Murray got paid, yo, I'm the more Jackson, I'm not showing up for the first week of the season, even though he may go against that. But if this thing is 200 million right at that or if it's 205 or ten or 15 man get your money and get another 180 to $90 million contract when you turn 30 years old. That's what my advice to Lamar Jackson would be. And Marcus, you could talk about a 189, 200, two O 5, whatever the number is. The fact of the matter is, is that Desean Watson contract has thrown a monkey wrench into negotiations between teams that have quarterbacks and quarterbacks that want new deals. Because the browns were the only team to guarantee the full $230 million that Desean watching got and obviously when he's seeking a new deal, that is a deal that he's going to hold up to Baltimore as something that he will want. Now, Kyler Murray didn't get the full guarantee, and today Russia Wilson didn't get the full guarantee, and other quarterbacks outside of Kirk Cousins due to his circumstances, having gotten the full guarantee, but that something that other quarterbacks like Lamar Jackson like Joe borrow like Justin Herbert, they're going to be looking for when their deal comes up and Lamar's deal has got one year left on it. So when he's sitting down to do that contract, that's the deal that he's going to refer to while every team in the league is going to say that's an outlier deal and it got done because the Cleveland Browns were as desperate as they were. Adam, I'm curious if you get a sense that because it feels like this deal is not going to get done before the season. Is everybody even on the Raven side? Are they comfortable with Lamar saying, yeah, we're just going to go back out there and play this season without getting a deal done? Well, I think Baltimore would be comfortable and I think a little more Jackson's been comfortable. The question is whether at the last moment there'll be a change of heart from either side and whether they'll rush to get the deal done. Again, last year, a lot of people like myself thought that Lamar should have gotten the deal done. He was right. He waited. And it turned into more money, but there are still people out there that think the time is right for him and Baltimore to do a deal and we'll see whether they could get that done. Now again, he also said that's the deadline the start of the regular season. But what does it mean? You're telling me they can't do a deal in the middle of the season if you wanted? Yeah, well, I mean, I guess because he does represent himself, he gets a dictate some of that, but interesting to think about as well. I mean, we feel like the times winding down, maybe there's a little more time to play with, depending on the money that he's getting. Just a poll man talking guaranteed money. Exactly. All right, we've got more coming your way here on NFL. Live just one week away from the season. The Steelers have yet to name their starting quarterback. Brooke Pryor

"The regular season. Well, goodness. I mean, was that report specifically for Dana roloffs, or what? Thanks for the info though. They're out of my loving. Marcus, let's dive in on the matchup though, between the rams offensive Bill Stevens, and we do get to see just a week away. What will you be watching closely when those two units are on the field? I'm going to be watching Don Miller and see the type of fact that he have on the rest of the guys around him. Listen, y'all, think about it. Last year, when we were watching that game against the bills in Kansas City, when we could get away from being enamored by what Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes was doing, the first thought that come to my mind is if the Buffalo Bills would have had a pass rusher a von mill Miller's level, they might have got out of that game with a win and been going on to the Super Bowl or going to the next NFC championship to play four chance to go to Super Bowl. I'm looking forward to seeing what type of games him in the head Oliver the DTaP who is going to run. I'm looking at how to see how much this affects Greg Russell and how much he can come along with having not only a supreme pass rusher, but a guy that runs a camp in the off season that teaches guys how to rush the passer and just his overall influence on this defense. And remember down the stretch last year, this was a defense that did not have TRE davious rights. White, you couple of pass rush of von Miller and you potentially get your day to his wife. That's why a lot of people how on the bills outside of their offense. I'm so glad because we get to talk about matchups Marcus. The biggest advantage that the rams often has in this game, is there wide receiver wide receiver group pardon me against a bills secondary that for the first four weeks of the season will be missing TRE davious by which means they're going to get to go up to again Jackson and a rookie cornerback. Either Kyrie lemur Christian benford. Matthew Stafford. Provided he has the time and that's where the bill's biggest advantage comes into play, which you alluded to, which is, this is a pass rush that last season finished 6 and pass rush win rate, second impression rate, despite barely blitzing, and just added von Miller. They go up against the rams offensive line. With his retired, again, you left tackle a new right guard. I am going to be watching that matchup very closely because I think it will not only dictate the outcome of this game, but tell us a lot about this rams offense this year. You know, Mina signals a little scrambled there, but it's so high. We're going to be on this game also long. So a lot more. I know, it doesn't matter. We can still be hype even if we can't totally figure out what's going on. We do have some more breaking news. Let's go back to Adam for that. What's going on Adam? Well, Laura moments ago, the Philadelphia Eagles claimed the former forty-niners running back, Trey sermon, off waivers. So the former high draft pick from Ohio State finds a new home in Philadelphia, which had been looking for some running back help the forty-niners and eagles discussed a trade for sermon last week, no trade was consummated instead the eagles get him on waivers today in a few notable names, find up, find their ways to practice squads today. Trace sermon now goes to Philadelphia on the roster, but on the practice squad Josh Gordon goes to the Tennessee Titans and Lin bowden winds up on the Patriots practice squad. Some random roster notes for you there as well today. Yeah, you know, you saw that cutaway shot there of Marcus upset and that's because the cowboys chances of winning the NFC east are just slipping away. We're going to get into that. Later on. I know, yeah. We're not doing nothing. You said it yourself. All right, we're just getting started today on NFL live. Russell Wilson receiving a big time extension. We're going to turn to another QB looking for a new deal. We dive into how this impacts Lamar's quest for a fully guaranteed deal. And speaking of the eagles, they've added all kinds of key ingredients we just talked about something that happened there with Trey sermon joined in the squad, but here why Mina didn't call this team a loaded Philly cheesesteak, but instead of fully loaded potato and, you know, listen, if there's any excuse for me to eat something on the show or eat to be general. And in part by pizza hut. No one out pizzas the hut. What's talk eagles after making a surprise run to the playoffs last season, the eagles have followed that up with an impressive off season. It began in March when Philly signed pass rusher Hassan Reddick, who has 23 and a half sacks over the last two seasons. That ranks 5th in the NFL and then of course on draft night, the eagles acquired AJ Brown from the Titan since entering the league in 2019, Brown ranks third in the NFL in yards per target. A few weeks later, eagles signed cornerback James Bradbury, who has the second most pass breakups in the NFL over the last 5 seasons. And then earlier this week, Philly made another addition to its secondary by acquiring versatile defensive back CJ Gardner Johnson from the saints. And so listen, Mina's among those impressed by the eagles off season. After they made the move for Chauncey Gardner Johnson, she tweeted, holy smokes, the eagles roster is loaded like a baked potato. Unquestionably a top 5 or three group now potentially. So Mina, that's one of the reasons why we got the potatoes on the set here. The floor is yours, my friend. Tell us about these great eagles. I really shouldn't tweet when I'm hungry because it really comes out. I don't think that should be a controversial take at all. This roster is stacked. You can just go position by position. One of the best offensive lines in football, you could make a case for the best skill group that, as you said, just added AJ Brown, who I think is the perfect piece in terms of opening up that play action passing game even more creating opportunities for Devante Smith and Dallas Goddard, one of the most underrated tight ends in the NFL. Then on the other side of the football, a stack defensive line that adds Jordan Davis, there's a piece I love. The Kobe dean linebacker has been an issue for this team. The biggest question mark, I had about them headed into the off season was the secondary. So what did they do? They had James Bradbury and traded for chance Chauncey Garner Johnson, who's one of the best slack cornerbacks in football. Marcus, so bad. And oh, did I freeze

"In terms of a new employer the Denver Broncos checked off all the right boxes this from newly acquired quarterback Russell Wilson at his introductory news conference where he told reporters and teammates he is more than ready to hit the ground running we're here for one thing has to win to win at the highest level often and I'm excited about it I'm sad about the journey and Broncos country let's ride Wilson obtained in a blockbuster deal with the Seattle Seahawks said he has already been an extensive contact with his receivers he added that he intends to earn the trust of the locker room through communication and the best way to communicate is through a strong work ethic Bruce Morton Denver

"You can say that about a lot of teams, but I just don't know what they're going to do a quarterback because I don't know who would want to go there and like if you're Russell Wilson, why would you want to go down to Tampa where they're kind of going to be decimated around you a little bit? And on top of that, you also have to follow Tom Brady's act, which, you know, probably won't work out. Well, I think Russell Wilson is probably in a vacuum, a better quarterback than Tom Brady at this point in time, but you're going to go down there with a worse team, probably finished like 9 and 8. And then everyone's going to just brag on you for not being Tom Brady. That's no fun. That is no fun. Yeah. A lot of these situations are interesting. I mean, if the bucks like at least you know that you could maybe possibly. I mean, you could try Trask, right? I mean, that's why you drafted them and you could say we have them on the roster for a reason. And we're rebuilding or whatever it is. I'm sure Bruce Arians would love that. After writing in his book that he hates rookie quarterbacks. Should that be a good time for him. But this entire situation is interesting. I mean, I think that the biggest loser here is probably the Panthers because all these other teams have a leash, right? Chris Ballard is really good at his job..

"But for the people who kind of want to jump on that for that, I'm not sure what you want to do. I mean, you're going to sit back and wait out the careers of Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert and then really build tour 2039 with this thing. Yeah, that's why they signed Nathaniel Hackett to that 31 year contract. Just to make sure that just to make sure that he was ready to capitalize at the end. Yeah, I mean, it's interesting. I think that the Broncos, Russell Wilson makes the Broncos a better overall team than the charger slightly, although Russell Wilson is not as good as Justin Herbert. I think both of those things can be true, right? Especially because and here's what really kind of sealed it for me is I think the Broncos not only made the best hire of the off season and Nathaniel hack it, but in a giro evere who was one of the true Fangio disciples, right? And so you basically get the same defense for like half off. You know, you don't have to keep Vic Fangio and you get a guy that's studied under him that was tight with Brandon staley, who probably should have gotten the rams defensive coordinator job after Brandon staley went to charges in the first place. So your defense stays really good. You're offense comes a long way. Plus you get Russell Wilson. I mean, this is at minimum a ten win team next year. And so you throw yourself into the mix. I mean the AFC west is going to have three playoff spots next year. I would be very surprised if they didn't have three playoff spots next year. Absolutely. And the other thing I'll say and you saw this with the rams last year, Denver's now kind of a destination. And yeah, if you offer the most money, you tend to lure free agents anyway, but this is now a place where you might be able to get some veterans who were not going to come to your place because they wanted a chance to take advantage of the end of their career and play for a Super Bowl. Von Miller sent some cryptic social media messages over the last couple of days and you kind of rolled your eyes because it's like, you're not going back to Denver to go 8 and 9. That's not going to happen, but now all of a sudden, that's a pretty good spot to land in. And maybe you do leave a little bit of money on the table. Maybe you're a little more flexible with the way you structure your deal in order to get in there. And be a part of that. It's a blue blood organization anyway. And yeah, I mean, you could, you could be the third best team in the division, but still grab that wild card spot, get into the tournament, you got a franchise quarterback and now things are getting pretty interesting. How crazy if I'm von Miller at this point, I've already made so much money. I would go to the Broncos and say, give me $500,000 in cash. Just hand it to me. And then, and then give me $2 million a sack..

"Who do you lean on in times like this right now? What do you talk to? Like who's on the Russell Wilson roundtable here for you? Yes. I mean, I think number one person I talked to is myself in my head. Self talk is everything. So once you tell yourself what you the absence of negativity to push things away and so that's really crucial. I think I talked to Tim Grover, I talked to, I talked to a few others as well. And so I stay focused on my task. I talked to our teammates as well. Speaking license into those situations. Do you ever catch yourself look down and see that symbol on your Jersey that Walter Payton man of the year symbol and just go that's pretty damn cool man like did you ever have a moment like that during the season? Yeah, you know, first game of the year. We went to MD played in FS colts and to be in that stadium is such a great tradition, obviously in playing there and some amazing other amazing players and Dwight frenzies of the world and some other great players along the way. I think about how much my dad loved Walter Payton. He was in favor of player and when I think about how much he talked about him and everything else. I don't know what grandfather talking about him all the time too as well. And so for me, just to be to be able to win Walter Payton man of the year award was of lessing. And it's been a crazy year just in general with COVID and life in general and just everything going on. People's worlds and everything else and just over the past year and a half two years to be able to make a difference for people is what I believe got put me on this earth to do. Obviously, to win games and their touchdowns and make a difference. And use that platform for good. And so you have to step up to the plate and as much as given much to required and I'm just grateful that I get to do what I get to do and I love it. So it's fun given back, but it's also fun playing ball. And I love this game so much and that's why I try to do everything I could to get back on the field because you love this game and you want to give it all your all and our days are numbered..

"A Mercedes Benz sprinter van is the van for the job. He's a 7 time Pro Bowl quarterback. He is the reigning Walter Payton man of the year, and we say hello on the Mercedes Benz Vance phone line prior to his Monday night game against the Washington football team. We say hello to Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. How are you doing Russell? Rich man. It's always a pleasure, man. How you been? I am doing well. I'm doing better for talking to you. It's Thanksgiving week. You know, it's that time of year. It's that time of year. Let's talk about your current situation. Sitting there at three and 7. I looked it up, Russ, because I get bored. But I'm also a lead pipe willing professional. The last time you were four games under 500 was freshman year of college for you. This is not been a feeling that you've been used to. What is it like for you to be in your current state right now, Russell? Well, you know what it is is it's an opportunity it's adversity and adversity fades. If you have the right mentality, if you can be neutral with it and understand that it's a process and understand that you take every day and you try to still find ways to get better and despite all the noise is better than math and this and that, you stay focused on the task and the mission and the mission is one game one game a week. One day at a time, one snap at a time. And we got 7 games left. And if anybody can come back, we believe we can come back and win all 7. So that's what we feel. That's what we believe that our mentality. That's what we've been saying. And that's what we're going to have to do. Yeah. And when you were four games under 500 as a freshman, you won the next four in a row. So that did happen. So these things, you have had these experiences before. And I know again talking about injuries is not something it comes across sound like an excuse or what have you. But is your hand the same right now? Russ no, I feel great. I've been obviously it's supposed to be 8 weeks or more probably most likely..

"I wanna talk about the best young coach football. And it's not necessarily sean mcveigh. It's clear that it's not only an indictment on the new york jets operation. But what you're seeing was sam darnold in the carolina. Panthers is pretty remarkable the knock on darnold out of college there to know with too comfortable wins but the knock on darnold out of college and i watched every snap was his accuracy issues. What does he completing now. Seventy percent of his throws. He doesn't make mistakes total composure. It would be easy to just say. This is an indictment on the jets but instead of just the negative side. Let's look realistically at the positive side. Not only has met rule made darnold more comfortable. This defense has twenty one quarterback hits and ten sacks in two games. What does that tell you. The culture of the carolina. Panthers is headed in the right direction. It also tells you. This is a remarkable stat on matt rule. The coach carolina going back to the beginning of last year. You will not believe this. Carolina leads the nfl with the fewest. Three and outs that with teddy bridgewater and start with. Sam darnold. nothing about that not mahomes. Not lamar jackson. Not tom brady. Not derek carr not matt ryan not russell wilson not aaron rodgers. No the fewest three and outs matt rule. Teddy bridgewater and sam darnold but this is a offensive line. That outside of right tackle graded poorly left. Tackle all the way to right guard. What matt rule is doing with this sub optimal often. It's of line. "I this was out in the last twenty. Four hours was that this contract had been on the table. But that jamal adams and his agents the sticking point for them was they wanted forty million dollars guaranteed and the seahawks refused to give him forty million guaranteed and basically communicated. We'll just do this year by year. We can keep tagging you if that's the case and so all of this was over two million dollars and it was jamal adams side that caved. I mean if russell wilson had that much of an impact. I think he would have been able to call get in touch with seattle and say it's just an extra two million dollars. Let's get this done so we can move forward and seattle wouldn't budge now. That's a fascinating point because it's back to the question we asked in. The first segment is if you're russell wilson you're thinking okay. I got my. There's two ways he could be thinking one is okay. I got my guy and we save themselves a little bit of money more money for me. More money to go round or you could be thinking in. Hmo ashy which one you think. 'cause you're the russell wilson sear. I guess the oracle is or is he saying you know something they could have given him the forty he wanted. Why are they doing him wrong. Yeah i got jamal. But i'm mad because they didn't do him right so it could be spend less money and still get to goodwill or could be spent a lot of money not get the good well. What do you think's happening. It's i highly doubt that russ looks at that. Contract and says man they. They didn't do jamal right. I mean he's out for weeks and weeks over that sticking point. I mean it wasn't just you last week. That said don't let the the the the small decimal places bother you. Give an extra million here or there to keep russell wilson. Happy seattle didn't do that. They ended up winning the negotiation. They didn't concede the point. Jonas sad boy to me at could be all good or it could be like a a hollow victory. Yeah it's tough for me to to get what you're saying. It's just tough for me to believe that russ let jamal adams feels like he didn't get a great deal on this either so i feel like everybody should be happy with this deal..

"So yeah, I think that even if they go mid-range, I think it can be can be better off as long as they stick true to what they need in their system and also remember financially if they go mid-range middle-tier 30 or whatever you want to say you bring in somebody like men's shoe is not going to cost you a lot of money. And in theory that means the Patriots could then spend a bunch of money on skill position players. Now you have a quarterback who can run your system better and arguably do you have a lot better options at wide receiver tight end. So I think it's all part of this big puzzle that Belichick's trying to put together and the one thing I will say before we wrap it up dog. Checks watching he's listening. He's reading he knows what people are saying and he understands that all of a sudden the Tom Brady stuff listed. I love Brady and he deserves a lot of credit but the Brady stuff's getting a little birth control and now people are rewriting history about what happened in New England and how sudden Brady is, you know, ninety percent responsible for what happened with the Patriots and that's going to go up a little bit, you know his going to be a little angry about that and he should be because it's not 90/10. Okay, if you want to split a 50/50 fine, but don't tell me Tom Brady was ninety percent responsible for what happened over twenty years in New England and Belichick was just sitting there and and reaping all of the rewards that's outrageous. So do you think Belichick is really motivated? And if they do get one of those missions are cheaper quarterbacks, I do think Belichick will intern spend a lot of money on the skill positions and we're going to load up the great. Patriots podcast Nick cattles in the books subjects. Rate and review everybody. Have a great weekend be good. Be safe be healthy. We're back early next week with all all of the information that we learn and all of the rumors that we see regarding the page still ND good..

"But really I think it's about as about as contract and also. He's married to Ciara. Yep, Entertainer singer. They are a Duo if you watch any of the pre games. This weekend, it's inside. Yeah, I mean they were all over it. And you know what it means and what he wants to do in his stage and this and that and that's what I think it's about. This is really his final act in his in his career coming up here in the next year or two because then you should go someplace else maybe plays four or five years and now he's at forty suddenly or what have you. So I think he's looking at this as his contract. And also I think he wants to be some sort of global named Global Ambassador into to him you look at the current backdrop with the NFL right now. All right. So has taken care of you have Stafford. You have Justin Herbert. That's not going to happen with New York is open right now between the Jets and also the Giants Giants are one team. We have not heard anything about in the offseason. Are they going to stick with Daniel Jones or they just sort of laying in the weeds? So la is out the second best thing or maybe the best thing is New York. And if you want to make a move to go to New York, if you're Russell Wilson and Ciara home. It's now it's now or never because the Jets are either going to get a new they're going to go all in with Sam darnold or they're going to get a new quarterback in the draft and the and the and the Giants also might not might not have an opening for long somebody they could get into the Sean Watson or somebody else now all of a sudden La in New York are closed then if you're Russell Wilson, what do you do if that's your goal? So I think to me that's where the talk the clock is ticking them to get two new to a major major Market. All right, let's jump the cars and went listen. I don't want to spend a ton of that time. I went up he looked broken last year. I have absolutely zero interest in him. If I were the Patriots you hear that the Patriots really haven't been in on the discussions. That makes me happy. Again, I don't want went and the contract and the mental stuff..

Daniel Jones Justin Herbert Ciara Sam darnold Sean Watson Giants Russell Wilson last year four five years Patriots next year Jets one team Giants Giants Stafford This weekend second best forty NFL

"Is russell wilson. There has been episodes that he did. You know podcast and shows and Brady henderson wrote an article. Espn kinda summarize and everything. So we're gonna kinda jump around. Actually brady's article and some of the things that you know. Russell wilson has said recently It's interesting stuff. And i feel like i wanna talk about it with you guys. I want to. I definitely want your opinions on this one. This is a an interesting scenario of of sorts So first of all russell. Wilson says that you know in a very frustrated fashion that he's being hit way too many times By head i mean. He's being sacked too many times as sacks almost four hundred times is not you know it's not good enough now. Anyone who knows anything about russell wilson. The seahawks knows that while there. Are you know there's always room for improvement deficiencies on any position on team Th the seahawks definitely can improve in this position on the offense align to help russell wilson and fantasy terms. I mean we've been happy with russell. Wilson been one of the best quarterbacks in the league. No question about it. that's fantasy or not fantasy on honestly He's one of the best quarterback in league. He has great weapons In metcalfe and lock it running back situation while you know has been a little bit of a you know over. The years has been kinda up and down. But you know it's always seems like it stabilized enough where you're getting production. As long as the guy is healthy the sack situation and the offense align situation it kind of goes two ways because and russell admitted this right like part of it is often of line. Right and the other part is russell. Wilson like russell. Wilson is his own worst enemy in terms of being sacked. Because we all know. Russell wilson can hold onto the ball for way too long. You know trying to extend tinos thing plays. This is part of his his his talent his ability as the you know the the the Ability to do this right because not every night quarterback in you know run around and extend plays in and see things open up while he's running around. Not every quarterback has cable. That's a while he has this ability to do so. It also is a you know a gift and a curse of sorts In some way so sure. This hawks have to fix this But also russell has to fix his own issues and he had. He admitted this in the article. He said Here because dan patrick actually kind of excuse me dan. Patrick actually pressed him on this a little bit about you know Wilson thirty two acknowledges as much. He was asked by patrick about his sack total. He said i think that. Sometimes you hold onto it a little bit. Just because you're looking for that plane you find it but also so many of those times it turns into touchdowns to But you never wanna be sacked that many times four hundred times basically is way too many four hundred too many so i think that's a big thing we've gotta fix that's got that's got to be fixed and has to be at the end of the day because my goal is to play ten to fifteen more years fifteen tennessee more years. He's he's he and brady man. Let's just be honest. Every quarterback is the embraer right. Now like shit. I played on forty five. So yeah i mean if you wanna play a forty five. You can't be out here getting killed on a weekly basis. So i'm glad the in this situation. He acknowledged that he has to accept blame here. You know he. Essays accept responsibility is a better word Because you can't blame all this on the seahawks just obviously not just their fault The other part of this conversation. That i thought was more interested in something. I really want. Everyone else's input on is that russell wilson was said that you know. He cited brady paid manager. Breeze other top quarterbacks who who have or have had the kind of input in personnel decisions that he desires he says. I want to be able to be involved because at the end of the day. Is your legacy. It's your team's legacy is the guys you get to go into the huddle with at the end of the day. Those guys you've got to trust when you think about one of the reasons why it's how it tampa was. Because he felt like he could trust those guys and coach. Bruce arians was going to give him the opportunity. You think about guys like lebron james. He was able to be around great players that he could trust. I think for me anytime you bring free agency or other players. You want the best players guys who love the game guys who want to be part of that and as a player you kind of know that you get to be around pro bowls you get to see these kind of guys and you get to the huddle with lime in the receivers where you get to be around offensive guy so you kind of build that over time and you get to see who can really play as a player you really know. I think that the relationship is really key. I think that relationship is really key and dialogue especially being a veteran player. That dialogue is really important. This is interesting. This is interesting comment from russell wilson. Right now He also was asked if he's involved in conversations now for personnel personality. Said not as much as much as he wants to be Do you think it would help. If he's more involved. This is so this is really interesting right. Every player you would think would want to be more involved in personnel decisions because every player thinks they know the right call. Somebody probably not every player. I won't say that some players are axes questions. They say it's not my decision right. That's a team decision. That's general managers decision as a coach decisions above my pay grade. However the answer it abso-. I'm sure some of these guys want no part of it but when you have a quarterback you guys like russell wilson. He really wants to be more involved. Which kind of like man. Okay how involved. You let a guy like russell wilson. Being this. he's talking about guys. He goes to the pro bowl with and you know he plays with them in the huddle like i wrestle. We can't bring in every pro bowler number one to the seahawks number two. Don't you think if a player players in the pro bowl players really good. The seahawks management knows already at the management isn't bringing him bad players on purpose So i think more so. He wants to like when they bring in players to talk to them. He wants to be like he wants. His opinion axed he wants. What do you think about this guy. Russell what do you think russell you play with him at the pro bowl. Russell how do you feel about them. You know what will how do you think he misses. What our team. He just wants to feel important Feel a part of the decision. Making and i'm curious what the clock doubters out. There think about this. Because i'm sure there's some of you who feel like. Hey four players should play football and general managers and coaches and front office should sign players and is the players jobs to make you work. You know to build that camaraderie to build that chemistry on trust each other. Russell wasn't almost makes it feel like he doesn't trust players on his team. I i don't like some of the wording that he used there. It's almost like you know. Hey tom brady is the trust all his players. I don't get to trust mind. That's almost how it comes off. If i was seahawk fan. I'd be a little annoyed with it. You know but overall i get he just wants to be more involved. He wants his hands on things This way if things go bad he can sort of blamed himself for Rather than just defer that blame to other people i also think is interesting The we all see russell. Wilson was at the super bowl they showed him and his wife sierra talking to roger goodell and so he was also asked about Oh actually i. Before we do that he was asked about whether he thinks the seahawks have a about a potential trade and they trade him and if teams have called about him he said that he thinks you know teams have definitely called about him He believes that's just kind of part of the process for players that produce on a weekly basis like he does which goes back to the conversation that we had about. Derek carr and how teams calling about your quarterback is nothing odd. It's nothing crazy It's nothing weird for you to take those calls and the team says even though you know you're going to say no to basically That's what the seahawks are doing. This with every team is doing so russell. Wilson is aware that he understands that He says you know him. Being traded as a decision for them not for him which is funny because he decided he wanted a more say though so almost wonder what he was saying. He was axed but.
