"Judge because of the pandemic. It's a win for Republicans who pushed back against efforts to expand voting access during the outbreak. But it comes in contrast to a similar case in Pennsylvania. Como's Jeff Po Djula talked about it with ABC legal analyst Royal Oaks. What's the difference between the rulings and Pennsylvania and Wisconsin? It's kind of inside baseball, really, but what it boils down to is this in Wisconsin? Folks sued and they said, You know what? It's pandemic time. We need some extra time to get our galaxy and the federal judge said You know what? You're right. I'm gonna give you six extra days as long as those absentee ballots are received in Wisconsin by up November, 96 days after the election, the dog on it, we're going to count the United States Supreme Court said. Don't on it. You can't do that. As a federal judge. You can't change the Wisconsin law Law says it has to be arrived. Has to arrive by election Day to count and you say, Well, what about Pennsylvania A week ago in Pennsylvania, the Legislature was the one that got they were the softies. And they said OK, we're gonna cut everybody some break at rates and we're going to extend the time to receive these ballots, and that's why the U. S Supreme Court said. That's OK. We're fine. With the Legislature changing changing its mind. He just don't like judges making law. So that's the distinction. So it seems pretty straightforward. Even though these air two very important Swing states for the general election. Well, that's right. And of course, when you think about it, the unprecedented level of interest yet balance and absentee ballots have made Elim UTI in early, huge percentages already her RN I think this is just kind of icing on the cake. Some people are going to say well, many ballots will not be counted because they're going to come in too late. My goodness the microscopic attention with a putting it under a microscope. The issue of ballots. Timing, I think is going to result in so many more people voting then than usual, and that's what we're seeing based on the statistics so far that it's going to be a shame for some people's votes to trickle in a few days after the date, but the Supreme Court said You know what that has to be an end at some point to the timing of receiving balance Legislature in each state has a right to set that time, and we're gonna honor that. We've seen any other similar challenges in any of the other swing states. Yeah, we've seen about half a dozen lawsuits in many other states. Republicans have actually filed off scores of suits over the last several months. Talking about voter fraud, talking about concerns, work mail in balloting, and basically, they've struck out. This is about the first time that they've had a major wind out of the U. S Supreme Court. And of course, this was the 53 votes with Chief Justice Roberts joining the four conservatives. "It seems to me there will be a case there somewhere where you could say Look, the post office has screwed this up. They have violated my constitutional right to vote, if not by accident by designed by the joy and others saying that they're goingto specifically slow it down the president. 22 certain extents that those exact words can you see? That is me in something that was be resurrecting the next three months. Your people could try. But you know, those kinds of suits are pretty much dead on arrival because and even try to sue governmental entities. You know they're doing their best. And if they messed up, then you know what you going to do? You can't really on. Why do you can't recount the votes? I mean, the bottom line is if you're suggesting it's overwhelming interest in voting, partly because Trump being so controversial, you know, people love him and Haiti. We're rushing to vote. And vote early. The pandemic is inspiring that as well, So yeah, you've got the voting is really issue number one. Right now, you know whether or not they count him as a coming in election day or a little bit after that. Still, he just seeing election voting rates off the charts. Would you take Cavanaugh's comment in the majority as being that strong? It seemed to me he was just saying what you just said. Look, this is some of the state's wait. Just leave already made rulings on this in the past, the state's control voting, You know, I mean, obviously, they can't break the law when they Jerry Mander. They can't break the law, voter suppression there certain things they can't do. Obviously that's protected. But I didn't see it is like a real demonstrative comment by Gavin I. I saw Morris kind of like what you said. Just kind of a matter of fact sort of explanation of what's going down. I think that's right. I think people reacted to it because it had almost sort of a flip attitude in the sense that it was, like right Supreme Court saying to America Hey, folks, how if you want you wrote account, then get to voting, you know, put it in the box. We don't have to make it easier for you because it's a pandemic. Everybody knows we've been in a pandemic since February, So you know here we are in November. Just, you know, follow the rules. The Legislature has a right to make it easier on you or not. We're not going to step in and hold A hand. A lot of people don't like that attitude. It's the last question again. Royal Oaks, ABC News Legal analyst, Not Appreciate your time. Good to talk against me. While it seems to me that what we learned today we're actually yesterday. What we've learned is that That the Supreme Court doesn't want to get involved in this election. Unless there's a glaring Ah act that violates the Constitution, the state's rights or one of the candidates. Is that did you get that same feeling? Absolutely. And if you look to the Bush versus Gore kerfuffle on intergalactic kerfuffle of 2000, you'll see why everybody knows that for who knows how many decades that court is going to be second guessed, is having made an allegedly political decision that installed Ah, loser George Bush over a winner Al Gore, who who paid him in the popular vote, and, you know, people say it was a bankrupt, uh, philosophy that scaly and the rest of them used to install George Bush and courts, especially a chief Justice Roberts type who who's focused on his legacy of centrism and fairness. He does not like the idea that there's going to be a lingering bad taste in people's mouths that the court somehow for political reasons, defied the will of the people. And what's what Affair. And so for that reason, I think there's going to be a great reluctance to do anything that's going to look like the court stepping in and making a decision when the people really should be able to make their choice. Yeah, John Roberts, the rest of his 10 years could be really interesting because he's I think you're right. I think he has a really He's very proud that the Supreme Court is a political body and doesn't like what's happened in the last four years. I'm sure he didn't say anything. But my gut is That he will. He will voice that to them and I, you know, we all know that justice is disappoint presidents all the time. There's a long history of that. We'll be well. My friends stay well, okay. Hey, my pleasure. Thank you again. Royal Oaks, ABC news legal analyst here on KGO. Yeah, I remember the first time we talked to him was God when I first came here and what a name like that. What a great name right Royal Oaks. Why couldn't I have been? Really? I'm chip. Chip. Yeah, anyway, so the President Trump's site was hacked. If you didn't hear me earlier, I told you that that story still developing there trying to figure out exactly what went down. I mentioned a few big big pieces of news that that have come in, and I think the biggest one is that Trump has pulled his money out of Florida, and he's not buying any more ads for this last week. That indicates one of two things one. You have such a commanding lead. That you don't need to spend any more money. Which he doesn't The other is his internal numbers might say. You need to focus on place else because you're not gonna win Florida. I mean, think about it. Why would he pull his money from Florida? To go to Minnesota. If Minnesota's again that's AH, that's a place he's within the margin of error. Michigan. He's not Wisconsin. He's not. Pennsylvania. He's not. He's a well outside. In all those places it's literally impossible. For him to win all those states that he's behind by those big numbers and and that means that he knows he's going down. So again, not to freak people out, but here's what he can do. If he loses. On election night and Biden has less than like, say 350 electoral votes, okay? He could approach and let's say that that some of those votes Air Lucia's Texas and Florida are those two states, Okay? He goes to Governor Abbott and Governor De Santis. And he has them take their go to their legislatures, which are Republican and appoint new electors to go. And and to be royal to Trump. So there you go, And they're all of a sudden you have a and you have the leader now down below 270 electoral votes. And, you know, getting that would actually take three states. So Heywood again if Biden had 320 were under 320, That seems to be the magic number that it would be impossible for Trump to convince three Republican legislators to do that. In which case he would have to go to the Supreme Court and say that there was rampant fraud. But I think what Royal Oak said was important is to understand that the Supreme Court doesn't want to do that. Justice Roberts doesn't want to do that. Gorsuch already stood up to Trump wants with his LGBT decision. Cavanaugh. All these guys they know Trump Trump has no friends. No one likes the guy. Why would these guys want to ruin the rest? Of there. Their time on the court. Packing a grifter. Think about that. We'll talk to John Rothman. Next time chip. This kgo but contrast could hardly be sharper. If we would have listened to you, millions of people would have died. He panicked, or he just looked at the stock market. One of the 2, November third America decides on a president propositions and local issues. Moments like this are why you listen to KGO Starting at five co.

"Red I radio the right side of conversation. 8 90. W. L s. We'll get back to the best in the brightest and what's going on regarding the cove in 19 restrictions here in Chicago momentarily, but I do want to welcome to the shelf for a first visit, Royal Oaks, ABC news legal analyst. Out of Los Angeles and a partner in a very prestigious law firm their royal Welcome to the Big 89 in Chicago, Sir. How are you? Hey, my pleasure. Let's going on in the Supreme Court front. Besides, with new justice, election decisions out of the Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, things are hopping. I want to get back to our brand new justice and your thoughts on that and the theatre that surrounded the signal of the confirmation, But the swearing in but Yesterday, the Supreme Court sided essentially with Republicans. I guess that's my conjecture and essentially saying they refused to GreenLight a six day extension ordered by the Lower court judge because of the pandemic. I mean, this doesn't seem outrageous to me because we still have a week to go before the theologian and wasn't clear that Wisconsin needed a six day extension could they backed that up legitimately? Well, if you listen to the federal judge who ordered the extension, I'm sure the jurist would say Yeah, this is important, And that's why I ordered it. But what the Supreme Court did was really pretty interesting. Whereas a week ago, the Supreme Court was okay with a Pennsylvania the Legislature. They're extending time, making it easy because of the pandemic easier to vote. Here yesterday. The US Supreme Court. You know, Wisconsin is different. A federal judge in Wisconsin look at the state legislator rule, which is you've got to get your ballot in by election day. Absentee ballots are fine, but unless they are received on election day or before they can't be counted, But the federal judge that's not fair to pandemic. I'm giving him 66 more days, Scream Court said. Now we don't think so. We don't think judges should make law. Of course that gets into the whole conservative versus progressive approach. Those were the distinctions between those two cases. But Royal I don't give and we can't get inside his head. But the chief justice Roberts voted one way in Pennsylvania and the exact opposite way in Wisconsin. Why Well, his explanation would be this. I am okay with deferring to the Legislature in Pennsylvania because they're the ones that get to decide when ballots may arrive and when they be be counted, But he said, I don't like the idea of a fellow judge, a federal judge in Wisconsin. Making that call that essentially was the distinction that and some people would say, I don't Like that's an important distinction. I think fair is fair, and if the pandemic makes it hard on people, then let's give people a little help. But both Robert and the conservative members of the court Gorsuch, Cavanaugh, Thomas and Alito all signed to the short It was an unsigned order actually was very brief, and then the the deliveries on the court all filed in favor of the kegan opinion, saying This just isn't right. And, of course, one justice Barritt takes over. You may start to see not only some from 54, but some 63 decisions. That'll put smiles on Republicans faces instead of Democrats. Royal Oaks is here. ABC news analyst out of a legal analyst in Supreme Court expert out of Los Angeles Joining us here in Chicago on double the US The hypocrisy of Mitch McConnell set aside and Lindsey Graham and others your thoughts on the fitness of Judge Bharat to be brand new Supreme Court justice. You know, it's funny when you mentioned fitness. I think the consensus is emerging that the way McConnell and Trump were able to get this moving in record time. You know closer to a presidential election than any time in history was because she just really knocked it out of the park of the hearing. She's very smart. She's very articulate. And even though people have strong suspicions That she's a stealth justice in terms of Roe versus Wade and Obamacare. And who knows what else? She handled herself so well that I mean, didn't you Markowski up in Alaska who I believe voted against Kavanaugh is she said, you know, I didn't think we should rush it like this. The dog out. I can't vote against her because she's really well qualified. So I think that was the key that she didn't have the cabin on baggage of the weird accusations. She didn't have the Gorsuch baggage of Oh, my gosh. This is treason over America, Garland. So I think the Democrats basically just said, Well, okay, we're gonna lose this one. But you know what? Maybe it makes it more likely Biden will win. And maybe it'll turbocharge and effort early next year if they take over the Senate to say, let's expand the size of the U. S. Supreme Court because otherwise you're looking at a pretty conservative majority for several decades, and that might cause them to go that extraordinary route that it failed in the thirties, when FDR tried to pack the court, his own party, the Democrats controlled Congress, but they said, sorry. President's not going to work, but a lot of people now are saying Yeah, let's look into it. Mitt Romney 23 weeks skill when gases it seems like long that I don't know exactly what happened. But he said, Look to my liberal friends. He indicated he was going to vote for her confirmation. And he said, Look, you forget that for decades, the Warren Court or other courts were famously liberal and tilted very heavily in that favor. And at that point, the Republicans or conservatives just had to deal with it. Well, now, times have changed, and I truly believe that any president and as I said, I think Mary Garland should have been given a hearing. I'm not saying he should have been confirmed. It should have been given a hearing. But I think any president until the last day here she is in office can nominate whomever they want. And then it's up to the Senate to advise and on and then vote up or down on it. Well, that's right. And I guess that's that relates to one of a couple of really fundamental reasons why maybe it would be dangerous to try to change the composition of the court. First voters don't really like these huge tectonic plate changes in the structure. You know the idea of no changing the Senate,.

Trump’s impeachment trial - Day 3

"All right famed attorney royal Oakes attorney to the stars and a prominent legal analyst a regular here on a land of evening news is with us day three of the impeachment trial royal always good to speak with you my friend welcome back good to talk to you and I never thought I'd feel sorry for United States senators but I'm starting to feel that way after their twelve hour plus days with no cell phone they can't say a word and listening to the speakers essentially regurgitate the same message over and over it's going to be a little tedious for them yeah absolutely and just a little side note you probably heard that they're only allowed to have water or milk in the on the Senate floor as well no caffeine making it even more difficult this is only the third impeachment trial in the Senate ever so there is really no mold or model to go by royal right everybody is saying the Clinton rules this is how we did it with Bill Clinton this is how we should do it here but from a real court room perspective what do you think about how this is going well it's hard to think of it if from a real courtrooms perspective because it's so different for example here Chief Justice John Roberts is kind of ceremonial he can be overruled at any point on any issue by a majority of the Senate and so yeah it's it's hard to think of it in those terms of the jury of course instead of middle Boris we picking people who can be objective you've got a hundred people who are political animals you gotta figure that pretty much already made up their minds you covered the president Clinton impeachment what do you think about Donald trump's legal team especially Ken Starr it was amazing that he would hire somebody a few days before the trial I know these guys are brilliant lawyers but you know when you get ready for trial you're totally immersing yourself like a tea bag into this soup of evidence and it's amazing to think that they don't have to be able to get up to speed that quickly and when you compare to Clinton of course you suggest that's the model where you have some deposition testimony videotaped of Monica Lewinsky back then in a couple of other witnesses and then it was played on TV for the senators that's what Mitch McConnell I think is hoping for you to know what this is we're just a few video tech with this is to keep this thing a short and sweet as possible and going back to the two original charges when the house passed the impeachment charges against president trump abuse of power and obstruction of Congress and what we're hearing from a lot of our listeners and what we're hearing from Republicans is that the obstruction of Congress is not a real crimes or it's certainly not an impeachable offense is that true well you know what it boils down to is that there are no clear guidelines as to what is impeachment worth it now if you argue that it has to be a crime literally on the criminal law statute books then there's a good argument to trump didn't commit a formal crime but the Democrats believe that something is generic and anymore this is abuse of power is a legitimate basis for impeachment we'll see what the senator said but probably more importantly was hit with the voters say in November there's no jury here but they do have to convince the Senate which is ultimately the jury that the president did abuse his power it's a subject of thing doubly subjective very political and of course let's face it realistically the Democrats down fifty three to forty seven in the Senate to convict you have to have a two thirds vote or sixty seven where are they going to get twenty Republican senators to vote for conviction is just not going to happen unless a nixonian smoking gun piece of evidence emerges it's kind of for show it's a made for television production with the Democrats hoping that it will sink into the voting public and influenced or voted November all right royal oaks with us from Los Angeles royal thank you as always okay if you take

"It's Monday December nights twenty nineteen and this will. This is your daily Detroit from the North End neighborhood of the motor city. I'm chair stays on today's Today's show the city of Detroit promises. What they call sweeping changes to their embattled animal care and Control Division? We'll dive in expanded Internet sales tax requirements. Look to be closer to reality in Michigan. Detroit Darling Brands. SHINO LA- laying off more employees and outsourcing work a legendary former Detroit tiger. It doesn't make it into the hall of fame and a Longtime Baker in downtown. Royal Oak has passed on. There's much more so let's get started. The city of Detroit announced changes Monday including spending more money and hiring more people to support the often criticized Detroit. Animal Care and control unit. There have been a lot of issues over the years due to lack of funding and a leadership revolving door. Let's run the changes down. The Karen Control Functions are going to be separated under different departments apartments. Animal Care will stay under the Detroit Health Department while control move the General Services Department and team of seven animal control inspectors will be hired word and assigned on a per council district basis. For reference. Detroit's Council districts are larger than many suburban cities in population and land area. Control Services will be open more often expanding twelve hours a day seven days a week. There's also a new hotline three three nine two two dogs to answer complaints in questions and top of all of this. A marketing campaign is coming to raise awareness about Doug on a responsibility licensing and options on on the care side. Seven new technicians will be hired to bring that number twenty. Two part time vets will be added with one eventually becoming full-time now. Let's get to improvements proved the actual shelter building. Three million dollars will be spent to allow a capacity expansion from one hundred and fifty two hundred fifty dogs. A nine thousand square. Where for building will be added for the call center surgery rooms and other customer service functions the expansion on the Chrysler service drive just north of Grand Boulevard is expected completed by the fall of twenty? Twenty Detroit's Darling. Watch and luxury brand seems to be facing some headwinds. As we've previously obviously reported Shinola has been wrestling with its expansions outside of watches and now word comes from Fox to that. They're doing detroit-based layoffs. This is on top of the thirty. We first reported over the summer. Shy Nola has laid off nine employees and they will now outsource leather design and product development. The Watch straps will still be made in house. But if you didn't know Shinola also makes a variety of luxury goods from purses to extension cords the leather producing equipment. Shy Nola will no longer use will be donated to pingree angry. An employee owned company. That helps veterans get jobs we profiled them in the past and will link to that feature in the show notes where we actually visited there. Factory just blocks away from China was headquarters. I'll add a few cents here. The goal of hiring and doing things in America really good one but Americans are conditioned to pay what they pay and there are many many stories. I'm hearing of business owners and different folks. I'm talking to saying the consumers just aren't ready to pay or aren't able able to pay the added cost of making things in America. There's a lot of infrastructure that simply does not exist in our country anymore and if we're honest a lot of in other countries was built by government support and subsidy cheinal has been well funded and a market that should be willing to pay. They should have the best shot at doing this. And even they're seeing issues. I think we're going to have to wrestle with the fundamental question with Labor and all the other costs make things in America that are frankly so much higher than overseas and that that question that we're GonNa have to wrestle with is. Are we willing to buy less stuff less often at a higher price and I don't know if that's the American way we on on the whole like cheap stuff and sometimes for being very real can only afford the inexpensive things because that fundamental culture shift and market demand is the only anyway. We're actually moving more manufacturing back to America because people are going to buy what they want or need to buy and it's really regardless of what any politician of any any party will tell you. Tell your fans don't just have the disappointment of their latest season. Here's another Lou. Whitaker Fan favourite and world series winner with the Tigers got just six of twelve votes needed to make it into the baseball hall of fame in Cooperstown. Whitaker has been up a couple of times before without success. Although with the number of votes he received he's eligible again when the committee meets in twenty twenty two the reaction on Tiger Tiger town. Twitter was strong and swift in reply to a tweet saying whittaker was in the hall of very good not an all time great. Emily Walden a writer for the athletic said. Said simply and I quote okay boomer others said Sweet Lewis Screwed and Jim from this sports. Jim Show said whitaker would have been a first ballot hall of Famer feed played in L. A. or New York if you'll indulge my baseball nursery for less than twenty seconds. Here's something I found interesting at baseball. Jeff One shared that the stats related to wins above replacement or war. That's a measure of value to the team and his on base plus slugging or OPIE S. Well Baseball Jeff here said that Lou Whitaker seventy five point one war and a one seventeen opium s now Derek. JETER which lots of people know obviously New York Yankee Gape who were all pretty sure. We'll get on the first try. Well he's got a seventy two point four war and a one fifteen opium there is however one one positive piece of news for us. Metro detroiters the sixteen member. Modern Eric Committee did vote in seventy year old Southfield Native Ted Simmons making him the fifth Michigander in the hall he was a Catcher with two hundred and forty eight home runs and one thousand three hundred eighty nine. RBI is across. Twenty one seasons the eight time all star played for the St Louis. Cardinals Milwaukee brewers and Atlanta Braves got word in my inbox earlier today from Olympia Development. And they're saying the Boston consulting assaulting group is moving their office from troy to Detroit. It'll be on Woodward Avenue. In a new building. Being constructed on the site of surface parking lot between little caesars arena and and the new Mike Illitch School of business at Spruce Street. This is all part of the district attract development. They're going to occupy thirty thousand square feet of the seventy million dollar building building though. Share the building with the Detroit Medical Center. That's all on track to open in the spring of two thousand twenty one and while we're talking district Detroit. I'll also mentioned something thing that slipped through Friday as we were in getting hurt about a report mode. It was announced that the women's city club building on Park Avenue will get redeveloped an estimated cost of twenty five million dollars townies. That have been downtown. Awhile no that. That's right across the street from where Bucharest Grill used to be what's going into the nineteen twenty four structure. Apparently ten thousand square feet of retail and nearly fifty thousand square feet of working from a Swiss company called spaces to be clear. The women's city club is different than the Leland City Club. You'll find in the basement of the nearby Leland. Hotel that is very very Different vibe and if yes of course it's been a while but but I've been we will be watching to see how these developments actually unfold. The Renton has been trying to find. Its retail identity being the home of General Motors. The offices of Blue Cross Blue Shield and some other businesses but that in house crowd is mostly folks who come to the city and then had back home right after work to serve that beyond uses opening and early twenty twenty in the big food court calling the cafe and that was all recently remodeled beyond uses a twelve store chain that does smoothies salads. And all that kind of healthy stuff. They're doing a lot but in the greater downtown area and they have two more places opening up in midtown and new center very soon all right. Let's head out of the city and the first piece of news. I'm concluding just because I think it's important highlight when elections are close as your vote does very much matter the Oakland Times that you'll find it Oakland County one fifteen dot com says. That Madison Heights elected. Kim Clarke to city council by just three votes this was confirmed after recount. There were five candidates vying for three seats. It's back in November the three winners were Emily Rohrbach Robert Corbett and then Clark in Royal Oak. A long standing member of the downtown community has passed on and his bakery will be closed for the foreseeable future. Richard Herman the proprietor of Herman's bakery on Main Street died this morning. There's no word as of this recording of the cause. Judging from research he was seventy nine years old. Herman got into the business when he was child working under his father. After a time in the Navy savy Richard returned to work. The Baker again in nineteen sixty three. All of this is according to newspaper clippings from the Royal Oak Tribune. It's possible the Herman German Bakery building is the oldest standing down royal oak dating back to Nineteen ninety-two apparently it's been a bakery since nineteen sixteen. The oven still used. Today I was installed in the nineteen forties after World War Two rest in peace and thanks for the sweets. Richard Internet sales tax collections are on a fast track to happened right here in Michigan. Gong were says last week the Senate passed legislation to make this happen as a retailer. You will have to comply if you sell at least one hundred thousand one dollars of goods or conduct two hundred or more retail transactions in Michigan. It's expected this would raise millions in revenue and the measure passed the Senate unanimously with no debate and is headed to Governor Gretchen. Whitmer desk if you're driving on. I ninety four this week in Michigan Indiana Illinois or well if you must Ohio lookout for more State Highway Patrol cars is on I. Ninety four is a program aimed at lowering the number of commercial crashes along the busy corridor. It'll run starting today through Friday and the any. Da is to focus on commercial vehicle violations. That could lead to accidents. So what are the troopers looking for. "Oak. It's the annual Royal Oak toy show, I think it's an annual. We've got a toy dealer and the fella charged with the responsibility of making sure you all know what's going on in Royal Oak. Let me start with you. I Eric old brick how long this been going, and how many dealers will folks be able to talk with or sell their toys to or by some toys from our this is our fifteenth year doing this show, and there's one hundred eighty table full of toys at it. And you can find experts in any kind of toy you could possibly bring in. You can't stump us on anything. Well, what kinds of toys will be will be for sale, and how much dealing and willing go on between those who own toys and bring them into you or buy them from some of those dealers, you're talking about well, most of us just sales from the dealers to the public but most of. Our dealers loved to trade and buy things well were there. So there's a little bit of that going on as well. And it's not just toys, though, I've seen for example, movie posters. That are available for purchase to. Yeah. There's all kinds of comic books and other paper items as well. What about the toys themselves? We up toy experts. Toyota's from every field ranging basically from the past hundred years, you can buy cast iron toys or you can buy brand new LEGO. What what I wonder what the the history of toys R when they began we go back to I don't know Egyptian time something like that. When parents were making little things for their kids. I would imagine kids always had sometimes a little straw things back in those days, and you got things like go at Howdy Doody or bozo. You could probably what pick up a buck Rogers. I'm guessing or maybe even a flash Gordon. Oh, absolutely. This is that there's a whole happy driven by nostalgia. So anything like that people remember from their childhood, and those are the characters that really stick out for most people. So that's what you see a lot of collectors gearing towards when when you talk about collectors and those buying they're not getting them. I would assume correct me if I'm wrong, you're Eric for their kids to play with or for them to play with it. Almost sounds like they go into some core sort of closed case, and you just look at them because they could be very valuable. There's a mix of both. There's certain toys from your childhood that you can still buy for your kids and let them play with them. They're they're tough enough. But there's a lot of choices. But yeah, you don't wanna trust the kid be handling. What's the price points in the fragile this of an older toy? What about Star Wars has to be a big action figure opportunity over there at the now annual Royal upto show. Yes, really Star Wars and things from that era of something like transformers, and he manner things from the seventies. And eighties are getting very popular right now. And I posted pictures on our Warren Pierce show Facebook page with people looking at all sorts of items here, and I don't I don't know where this one was taken. But they're they look like a couple of boxers in a tiny little ring almost like may what may have preceded who knows Legos or something like that. Does that ring a bell? Was it a metal toy or they're they're they're definitely plastic with the and and the and the the ring the floor of it is yellow and one of the figures is red and the other is blue. Okay. So it's like a Rackham track robots. Is that what it is? Yep. They you pull a little handles, and they fight with each other a wonderful toy they've been around for about forty years. And then I posted another picture and there again, all sorts of toys old Indy. Race cars to be sure. And I gotta tell you Eric. There is a a truck a milk truck. And some of our listeners, certainly remember this. Because instead of going to buy milk at a store, you had milk. And when I lived over on the vista and Dexter area. We had in our house. We had a little milk shoot. Were. They would come and deliver milk and put them in the milk shoots. The two doors a want to put it in inside one to take anyway. So there's this old seal test milk truck. You know, what I would love to find is a twin pines the twin pines milk truck. Have you ever seen any of those come through your annual Royal Oak Toshio? Yes, there are twin playing toy milk trucks. They're smaller and they're made out of plastic, but they did make them. Well. And and they were obviously, local and also on the line. We got Julian Thomas of Thomas toys offensive and Julian I know you have been selling antiques for quite some time. How did you get in the business out there in Fenton? And what do you specialize in? I decided to restart antique car back in a sixty. Right. And and doing that I had to go to a flea market. And I never heard about putting America their car show. Right. So I go looking for parts, and I started seeing these toys and they were quarter fifty cents and they were missing tires half.

"Radio. We were just talking about these new drivers licenses. I want to talk about a bigger issue involving this spring court got Royal oaks here with me ABC news. Analyst Legal News analysts. I want to go back for a moment, if we can here just for a moment is suggested by some people that the reason why California may need to have two sources of confirmation that you are a resident and citizen here. They have to do with the issue of illegal immigration does that ring a bell for you. Yeah. Absolutely. I think that's why they want the two forms of ID. They're worried that people are here illegally. Be maybe people are just cheating one way or the other. So yeah, I think that that's probably behind it hate before we get to the supreme court. I have to tell you. We talked about Bryan, Cranston. And the reason I'm a little sensitive about him. A couple of years ago. I was filling in for Doug in the morning, and he was promoting some movie, Bryan, Cranston. I really wanted him on the show 'cause there's a huge fan of breaking bad as it happens. One of the producers Steve is like a second cousin of Bryan cranston's wife, and they said, well, we'll call we'll find out. So he calls up the wife, and he says, oh, you know, what would Brian be available to promote his his movies come on KABC? And she says, oh, absolutely. He'd love to do that fine. And so then they said, yeah, that's Royal Oakes. Filling in for Doug McIntyre. And she said, oh, wait a minute. She goes off unless it comes back. She says by is slammed. She's just he'd love to. So I've just told a little sensitive about Ryan Cranston ever said, I can top you. Brian's, a friend of mine, Brian. I don't I don't know if even your influence would be enough to get him on my show, but your show my show. Listen. Listen Brian used to fill in for me as you are in for Doug McIntyre. You're kidding would fill in for me on good day live, and we had no idea about that. I knew he was a dentist on Seinfeld. But I didn't know that he. He was on the Malcolm show where he played the father. Fox. And of course. Yes. And the the coolest the that is was great on Seinfeld. That was a great role, but he would come in and fill in for me on good day live, and we would do a charity event every year where he kind of be my sidekick to some extent, we would do things, and I remember saying to him being a bad, my large big human being, you know, if I if I can't make it Brian. You can step in for me. I love it. Such an amazing talent, not only breaking bad. But I mean, look at this stuff eastern done since LBJ on Broadway. And now. Roll credible. He's a movie star. Here's a Broadway star. I remember the first night he hosted Saturday Night Live the whole production number called Bryant who. Brian who anymore? So don't say that he wouldn't do it for you. I think I'll ask him to come on here, and I'll do Slade and I love the guy. A very happy for more other issue here the supreme court of the United States. We're paying a lot of attention to that right now because of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, our health, and you know, that they will either biotic or cryogenically do whatever they can keep her going any is going to be weekend at Bernie's vitamins. Yeah. So if she goes. Weekend at Bernie's is she going to route. We can try the Matza. So. What Europe you're up early this morning. You're laughing too easily. So what happens? What happens here is that? There's a lot of attention paid to the supreme court, and I have a plan for the supreme court. And I don't know if it's not, and I would like to discuss it with you when we come back right after this. Okay. Okay. To.
