A Royal Holiday
Hello and welcome to the line way. Fanfares entertainment and pop culture podcast. I'm stupid fan because senior writer, and I'm here with Lee Miller Advani Percy. On in limelight, ends and outs of pop culture entertainment and celebrity from the past week from the crash, Ian to Kate Middleton and everything in between big. I apple of twenty nineteen today. We have so much discuss I was just in Los Angeles with truly and we did the Golden Globes after party circuit hard. And we have a lot to discuss about that. And we also will catch up on the Royal news. We missed over the holiday and this week a lot to dig into right? We're gonna touch on Christmas. The holidays briefly, we got so many messages from y'all. So we definitely have to check it on that. We're also going to discuss Meghan Markle's. I guess mental states alleged her alleged mental state these days in her first official visit of the new year. We're also gonna check in on a kind of peripheral Royal character. Right. Josh James Middleton. Yes. A fun mystery to dig into their let's start out by listening to voicemail from our kind of unofficial overseas. Correspondent Helen this is from over the holidays, take it away. Helen. Hi that had from them. Then just wanted to wish she will very happy new year. High tech amazing Christmas. I think it was a great Christmas Voyles. Didn't Kate amazing? It apparent Chacha and Christmas day. I think Kate asking nails it with the reds kind of cut out says, you just say comfortable, and it was so heavy seeing the most together, and whether that was the cameras no like on that show unity. And that's exactly what we want to say Christmas. I thought it was holidays. Five and then only those small in the press again this weekend just buying on about things. And I think it's a shame. They have to this time. And and I talking about for Christmas, and we KTF which was amazing. Stephen enjoyed that ten. I didn't. What is maybe you're right. Maybe how he'll some of the potus does this needs to be child. Otherwise, he's just gonna keep going and going and going to say we have to start the new year. But hey, like, an Harry a kind of suffering, right? If I think yes, Akam, so. Yeah. Anyway, just wanna say, hi and high t have an amazing January happy everyone. Thank you. Helen. Josh, what did you think of the whole public display outside the church on Christmas day between Megan Kate? So I know we were all very much waiting with baited breath. Julian I in particular, not even able to focus on our family related go. Things on over Christmas to see these photos. I'm only exaggerating finally, though, honestly because I was very curious what the photo was gonna look like this year of the four of them entering the church. Julia. I'm not sure how you feel. I was a little bit. Maybe because there was such build up about the purported feud between Kate and MAG imaging William, and Harry the photo was a little bit of a letdown. I didn't I wanted a lot. And I felt like there wasn't so much for us to really grab onto obviously you only get one photo. I wanted a camera following them into the church. I wanted some sort of like Instagram live to happen from Christmas morning. You kind of have so little to go off of it's like the plight of covering the royals. They looked happy. I think there was the one thing that I saw getting a lot of traction was sort of they walked past everyone. Charles was standing right in front of them, which I thought was interesting. They don't think that was the case in the previous year, which I felt like was another sign that they're really trying to hype up the Charles of it all, but Kate sort of I guess Cates. Like about to walk through the gate to go into the church area. Did I we you saw this video clip, right? And then Megan kind of puts her hand on Cates. Back to kind of like help us show her in. And there's this kind of like, I don't know. It's a sort of sweet moment, though, I saw someone in the comments where someone posted this saying maybe that was just Meghan trying to protocol wise, wait for Kate to go through before she did. But I didn't read it that way. It looked to me more just like an amiable kind of you know. Hey, Kate, come on through sort of thing. Right. I love it there. So little kind of physical interaction between the royals than any even accidental brush is right into it so much, and we're like charms the super polite meaningless thing becomes like the touch look at around the world. Ambala? Now, I thought everyone looked great though. I thought the codes were really on point like the previous year there had been sort of more unusual hat and coat choices. This year was pretty I thought people look good on. Right. What did you think? I think Katie Nicholl kind of called it. She said to look out for the warm friendly display kind of putting to end any feud of a rivalry. And it seems very much like they had had a crash course with maybe a body language adviser, something they were kind of turned towards each other smiling, the whole time, it was it seems exactly as I guess, I imagine I would have loved for there to have been a little bit more looseness. But there never is. But I love some of these details from this sun report that you found. Yes. So after after they spent Christmas together people reported that the big Meghan Kate interaction on. Christmas day was that they played scrabble. They play board games. And again, this is a little bit of a letdown to me just because scrapple is so boring. Do you like scrabble? Josh. We wanted you know, like gin Rummy like drunk, right? Right. Full on, you know, Christmas like the tree falls over. Instead. It's just board games. This report from the sun the sisters in law. Happily played board games on Christmas day at one point the pair, even teamed up during traditional quiz games at the Queen Sandringham retreat. Okay. I need more details. What kind of quiz game is pop culture related that they have to act out anything who one where they play who were they playing against. I I don't understand how the sun couldn't have asked for more details completely agree with you. An insider said if German and British troops could put their differences to one side to play football during World War One. Like, what is this? This compares in this reference. The feeling was Kate Meghan could follow suit for scrabble. So that just raises more questions was scrabbled. Just is that with the PR people decided like, okay? This is what we need to put these rumors to rest finally scrabble the sort of olive branch. This feels to me crisis management devised. You know, we're going to put out there that they were playing scrabble. I feel like there was no scrabble being played. Right. I apparently the whole family watch the queen's speech, and then board games were brought out the sun reports pregnant Meghan wasn't drinking but Kate had a glass of wine or two or two. And everyone was in great spirits. I feel though may be because there's so many people there in the does feel like this isn't even I'm sure in every case Cain William do their own thing later. Harry Meghan do their own thing later, maybe this is sort of just a performance give we're going to play a game of scrabble go to sleep kind of thing. Josh, why do you and I have such high expectations? I feel like we always are expecting some unpredictable who would have imagined moment. And for you know, what I feel as if I feel as if stuff like that does happen. We just don't get the goods away until later until later, for example, all the stuff about what actually went. On Megan's wedding. I feel like that didn't come out until month. Let's share. That's true. Maybe they're still reports to be had. Maybe someone threw a drink. I don't know just scrabble being the center piece of this holiday report seems kinda sad. Like Josh of. I'm I'm sorry. I'm still hung up on this if German British troops could put their differences to one side to play football during World War One. What I mean? Because I feel like in this case, I feel you or me might use that as a joke. But in this case, I don't even know if the these British outlets even mean it in a joking manner at this point, I would pay you one hundred dollars to drop that reference into casual conversation. My God, what got a lot of attention before. And we talked to Katie Nicholl about this was there was all these reports about if Meghan was gonna let hairy which is sort of how it was being framed in the British tabloids participate in the big shoot that they do every year on Boxing Day. In one of the big stories. I guess that came out of the whole Sandringham Christmas. Was Kate went on the shoot this year. But after I guess reportedly Meghan had already laugh there's so much weird stuff in here. Because then they also say that Kate was raring to get a gun in her hands. I for the for the Hon as if she's this kind of like, you know, hunting fiend or something right that she has a special gun. That's a little bit lighter and easier to use the usual, twelve bore. I love it. The Daily Mail outfitted this report with all these archival photos of Kate hunting, which I had never seen before. Josh I included attachment at the bottom here. Hi, did see this photo. And I could not believe it will have to say we love the Daily Mail. We only say this with love. But I feel as if. It's a little confusing. It's a little bit of a journalistic question Mark to me. Because when I saw this in the Twitter in like came up in Twitter is the story and they had this photo. And I thought it had been taken that day. But it turns out this photos from like twenty thirteen or something. So I almost feel at the Daily Mail was holding onto these photos for this moment or something because I had never seen them before. Right. They have totally have a Royal subsection called hunting and just all these photos and the firewalls and they cracked open the archive and she's wearing this like giant Coon skin cap kind of thing. And I don't even know holding to animals it looks like in either hand, there's another amazing photo of her with like a Rambo style. I don't even know what you call it. It's like a belt of bullets around herself. And she's out shooting kind of like, she's in the favorite or something. Oh, yeah. It is really reminiscent. It's it's it's awed. But anyway, I guess this is like British upper society, whatever standard practice. So. Right. The insider also told the Daily Mail that Meghan slowly adjusting to Royal traditions. Megan's realize that the royals have been doing this for centuries and aren't going to change their ways. The source said Harry has explained to her that the numbers of birds need to be kept down on the estate, and that is all part of the management. That's wild to me. Let's move on shall we Josh flu? And he kind of surprised me after the holidays by visiting LA. So we go to the Golden Globes together. Yeah. It was so fun. I don't like any award show to be separated from Julie. So I decided to go head on over. I would say we had it was a little bit like Romeo and Juliet during. The actual ceremony though were unfortunately into different areas. Julie was in the press room doing an incredible job kind of immediately conveying. What was being said by the winners onto Twitter and elsewhere for Vanity Fair dot com where I was in this kind of elaborate viewing party that was kind of right next door. So we were just separated by a wall. But I was right by the engraving station where the winners came at the end of the night to get their gold globe engraved, and they're big TV's where you could watch during the actual ceremony. It was a strange fattening. I would say Julia was there for part of it. But it was kind of fun, and I feel like most people were paying attentions you could kinda watch. But the engraving station was wild. Because when the winners came in at the end everyone. Of around, and they kind of have some security and photographers that you can't get too close. But people shout the names of the winners, and they kind of look over. It was exciting who came back there. There is. I think Rachel bra the hand was within the first people. I saw. Definite get attest having looked through my phone. What got me the most excited was. So I have to say tobacco for second. Lady. Gaga was I thought going to be kind of the night's big winner is soon she was going to invest actress. And that the movie was gonna win I was fully in Gog on mode. And I think as a lot of us were surprised when Glenn Close to get home. And then Julie, I think it sent me a tax keep an eye out for Glenn. And I took it very seriously. I I'm so flattered I knew the Glenn was going to be a major part of the party report because she gave such a moving acceptance speech. So I kind of text Josh please look out for Glenn cut to he sends me. I don't think Len closes own mother would have taken as many photos, just he must've been shooting constantly. It's like I got every. Frame of her visit back there all these amazing photos of her interacting with Christian bale Christian bills. Why I would say, I don't know. I looked through them. I look through them on the plane on my flight back. I think it was close to forty photos of Glenn Close. And it really does capture every sort of motion. I feel like any sort of expression you've ever wanted to see Glenn Close to make. I have it for you on my phone now. Also, there's one where she's staring into my soul. Fully I think I posted on Instagram story. So if you follow me there, I think we post in the limelight too. But she definitely looked right into my I summer, she's laughing. There's so much looks confused at one point you see her talking to the man who would sort of like, she doesn't really know you could do an amazing picture book with my photos, then some other friend of theirs comes over there's a lot of her talking to Christian bale, which I was I thought could be. Really good for Julie's report. So I. Zeroed in on that. So I kind of every possible permutation of this Christian bale, Glenn Close, probably twenty five second action has been photo documented it was like a sap route or style breakdown of her visit to that engraving station how Glenn in the park prosper. But what she I mean, she definitely gave her speech was considered one of the highlights of the evening. She was great. Usually I feel like the winters comeback stage, and they speak to press for at least five minutes, but everybody was really fast this year. I mean, I mean there were really no trying to think, sadly, no crazy highlights the gogga come back to the pressroom gogga came back. It would have been a little bit more exciting for me as she had one buff. Doctor right. Just because she would have been solo like I'm so happy Glenn Close one. It was her first major film acting Amore. Josh I had known that. She's. One Golden Globes before she's one Tony's before she's on EMI's, but she had never won a Golden Globe or an Oscar right for film acting role and everyone needs through mmediately go to anti-fur dot com to look for Julie's big interview with Glenn that went up on Thursday. Right. I interviewed her a couple of days after she was still very emotional very moved that she had won this award. It was it was a great conversation. But as soon as soon as the last winter came back through that night, Josh, and I ran out to the parties and enjoys an old pro at the Golden Globes party circuit for me was very interesting that the everything of the venue, the Julian I could really hop around. It was almost like a convention thunder vibe or something you could hop from room to room and every room has like elaborate amazing party kind. Incredible, right? So I guess what we did is. We started at FOX where we saw Taylor swift. Who was the prize present or the awards because she was there with her boyfriend? Joe Aylwin is in the favorite. So she was kind of in this section with Livia Coleman and Emma stone and the other kind of kind of a symbol favorite team people. I love Joe kind of lead Taylor into the parties felt was just you know, any other dates any other, you know, and it's Taylor such. She looked incredible. She had this kind of off the shoulder gown on black like the cheap presented to lady Gaga. It was kind of like pop star union in the middle of the show because she gave the word for best song. So like, the FOX party was, you know, those kind of favourite was the big winner. They're also Rami Malik and rob city. So I feel like that was a really good party for us to hit it. I it's kind of like. Interesting because of how many parties are that it's hard to gauge where to go when other funds sightings where when we walked into the in style party. I thought Patricia our cat walking out holding a kind of venti size large. Starbucks hot coffee, though, I guess I don't really know hot coffees. Don't take my word for it. Because a giant Starbucks Cobb looking as if she was coming out of a business meeting or I thought it was just amazing. This is my favorite citing tonight because let it be known that there is no Starbucks on the premises really honed. It's such a mystery such a mystery of wanna think that somehow she's just you know, needed to pick me up. Maybe she was heading out to another party wanted that Starbucks fast. God knows I'd love to have an attendant who was just responsible for providing me with Starbucks when I needed it. So everybody's in black-tie drinking champagne, and she's. Gripping the Starbucks Cup. So good, and I should know too. Big off story that came out of the globe said Julian I did not get witnessed firsthand. But I've been asked about a by few people was Cape Beck and sale impede Davidson. Did you see them? I saw I watched the net flicks party. And I saw this woman standing there in this white dress. It kind of looked like Britney Spears like launch array thing that she's that she's worn to like a VM as but made into a long gal. If you haven't seen it, look it up. It's it's very scandalous. It's kind of like she's wearing nothing at all. It's like a white lace teddy. Anyway, I thought it was like a twenty year old model wearing like yes, wearing a very scandalous dress. She was being swooned over by these two men. She dropped her Vate pen and one like France couldn't get down to pick it up fast enough. But they definitely weren't Pete. Davidson I did not have is on. Davidson all night. And I think he would have noticed him because he's so tall. And oh, wow. I'm looking up the outfit. Now, this is a luck. You really nailed it with the description of the vibe, it's so very scandalous but good for her good for her. I mean, but yeah, I guess we can't confirm or deny the report. I feel though it's interesting because it's so spread out. You don't it's hard. It's only one centralized party where you see everyone. Who's was out the Golden Globes? It's more everyone's hopping around we walked into the Amazon party, right? As the whole Mazel cast was leaving. That wasn't our. Best timing. We saw. Yeah. I don't know. Who else did we? Oh, I saw on Jenna Dewan Channing Tatum's acts with her new boyfriend holding hands hot hot hot, citing great. Great couple. But it was a lot of fun and I-, Josh. And I really need to do another award show the sofa fun Julian and the night we were very hungry. We hadn't eaten so we went to this really great. What was the call Julie saddle ranch or something? I'm the worst house Joshua's. My out of town guests essentially had never been to the Golden Globe. So I took on kind of I was hosted the night captain of the evening. We walk out in all the roads are blocked off. So I thought it would just we would just have to walk about maybe one block to get an Uber. It's raining. It's cold, Josh. And I walked probably a mile before we find an Uber Josh's so tired. He's not complaining because like, I'm very. Stressed out? Clearly, it's about twelve forty five on a Sunday night. We're both starving very wet at this point from the rain, very wet. At this point. I ended up flagging downs guy that probably wasn't even a new driver. I agreed to pay pal him to take us back to Josh's hotel. It was a whole. Oh, oh. The heroes. She was so resourceful. She got the car she paid for the word via pay pow which I wouldn't even know how to go about if I was on a desert island with my only way back to the civilization. And then we ended the night at this kind of saloon style diner knows like a sports bar. I'd say they had one of those bulls that you ride in the head of mechanical bowl, which it's honestly surprising at that point that I didn't hop on to see how I fared, but it was great. I got lettuce chicken wraps and by great. He means it was it was a place outside of the rain where we could end the night because the food was terrible. I have never sat had such a bad dinner. But the company made up for it. And I know Josh a fantastic meal. Her roic Julie moment was that. She so assiduously hardworking she had her laptop out at this saloon. I would venture to say it's the first time anyone ever had a lab. Top at the sports bar opened or even attempted to do anything related to work. So she should've been given a prize by the maitre d', honestly, maitre d', which I mean, it was a night. It was a night beaking of big bashes. Kate middleton. Thirty. We are wild. This is my office as she turns thirty seven this week. Now, she's the same age as Meghan which consumes like, I don't know. A dig the way you have this down on the script. She celebrated with no, you know, why put that in because I always apprised somehow that they're the same age. I don't know. I know it is surprising. You know? I think it's because this happens a lot I've noticed like Miley Cyrus, I always think is like thirty three, but she's twenty five like I feel when someone's been famous for so long Kate Middleton has whereas Megan's new on the scene making fencer. Yeah. Now, you're telling me being sense anyway, but she had a tea party. She had a tea party. I really wanted her to have some fun bash. Josh, what would you have plan for her? If you work, you will you I wish that they would go full Carlisle in of like, an Instagram friendly K or Kate opens end of boomerang and all the sprinkles come out. Ed Sheeran performing like I wanted full this go to before about Christmas. I'm sick of this low key, Royal nonsense, the royals, you know, like. Advantage of it right next next year. We're going to figure out how Kris Jenner can plan this party. Honestly, get them sponsored content out of it. Get the Fiji water girl from the Globes there. Okay. William to an appearance thought this was kind of. I mean, not really that weird. I'm not gonna make more of it than it should be made of. But it was kind of interesting, but William went through appearance the morning birthday. Julie. How would you feel about that? If you're Kate and the morning of your birthday, William half the peace out. It's not like he does appearances every day this week. This is first one in twenty nineteen and it was for the morning of her birthday. I think a little bit annoyed unless he made it up to me was like an amazing cake or a present this event, which was for the London ambulance charity to children presented him with a handmade card to give to Kate. Well, done for remembering he said when they gave it to him. I did remember this morning. So that was okay. I. No, julie. Is that a yes? Okay. So obviously, I read that in the most tree laced intonation possible. It was presented as a joke. I don't know if we think this is like a hilarious joke. I guess he's trying to do his little classic dad humor. You know? Like, thankfully, I remembered her birthday. It's weird that the palace was scheduled this because it would almost seem like a diversion people wanting to talk about Kate's birthday. Maybe they did that strategically. I didn't think when I heard that he was doing this didn't think it was that weird. But then once that actually happened was was you know, I raised a little bit eyebrow. Just a little maybe a Manny petty though, while he was out Yemi Pippa came over. They had a fun morning than though subbranch exactly somehow. I doubt it, but maybe per Katie Nicholl, our friend of the podcast. And if you haven't listened to our episode with her make sure you do that which was recorded right before new. Years. Right. But according to Katie William came home after the appearance and. I wrote got this party started. But I was being facetious Cates. Not into big birthday celebrations from Katie Nicholl, but George and Charlotte door birthday cake. So there will be a special tea party at the palace with candles and presence. According to a source. Kate apparently spent the day at home is Charlotte and Louis Julia's grimacing right now Thelma I. It sounds like a very low key birth time, and sort of to add interesting contracts contracts, Jesus as a know what kind of where that is. But Pippa James brother and sister, Carol her mom Pippas brother-in-law. James Matthew, Spencer Matthews. Sorry. They went on this wild vacation to same bar that the Daily Mail covered intense detail. Meanwhile, she's at home having this tea party. Kate was not on the trip. I don't know. I hope this was a fun birthday. And there's just stuff we don't know about which I'm sure is actually the case, Julie, do we think Meghan acknowledged the birthday, while guess, we know she acknowledge it. How do we think she acknowledged do we think she gave Kedah gift I'm sure she gave for something or Nate for Christmas that you have another kind of fun surprise plan for her birthday to or does she play it a little cool? What do you think I think she definitely broke out that calligraphy pen to? To make maybe a handmade card, and she definitely included some sort of token a small gift. I don't know what it is. I don't know. Josh, what do you think? She would give her. Yeah. Maybe something sweet related to Christmas if they had some sort of a piece from the scrabble game. No, I don't I don't think she went overboard. I don't think she did. I think what I don't know. I don't have a birthday right around Christmas holidays time. But I feel like if they did a huge gift exchange. Maybe it was something a little more sentimental or like, a really nice. No, right. It's interesting to me all these like Royal birthday that session easy PR bump for the palace. I wish they would have given us one more detail. What kind of cake was it? What did George gives mom like that's so easy? Did the family sing happy birthday to her? I don't know. I am not along. I was like I was so disappointed. When also you looked at the Kensington, Royal Instagram account. I don't know if you did on say, and they posted just sort of a random photo of her. I don't know when it was from. She looked great. But it wasn't. I don't know. I wanted something I know portrait or I don't know or or well wishes from William, and George I don't know something that would have been great. I do agree with you. It's so easy to at this in this day and age, we know from the crown when new technology enters the mix Royal trying to figure out how to capitalize on it. I they're getting better. But there could be doing so much more on social media. Great great really bringing in the Stoorikhel. Speaking of case family, and this occasion, James Middleton. So the Daily Mail right before your about records podcast put out a big story by the time. You're listening to this. He might no longer be on Instagram or maybe it'll be a private account, but as of this recording James middle. Tune Kate's brother who I would say is the most. I guess private or low profile of the kind of Royal Jason sibling types, they Daily Mail. Put out that his Instagram is public, and you can find it somehow, he only has seven thousand followers, but now the daily mail's on it. I'm sure he's going to have a whole lot more. Josh follow him before. This did follow him like an hour ago. I love the way the Daily Mail as usual try suspend this as somehow extremely scandalous. So the headline is James Middleton gives a tantalizing glimpse into his wholesome life in the Scottish wilderness. Very candid Instagram's nabs looked through what a journey that sentences having look through all of them. I can tell you. They're not at all scandalous. Really? It's a lot of like outdoor photos a lot of dogs. I would say it's mostly dogs. There's no there's no Kate. There's one or two Pippa photos. What going to have. What was your biggest? Takeaway. What did you learn? What was the most surprising thing? I didn't learn I mean, it was it's definitely interesting to see because it's it's sort of a normal person's and ceramic in most ways, it doesn't feel particularly mannered or curated there's some photos of his acts Donna air. So the Daily Mail was very focused on that. But in the Slough thing, I did he falls about three hundred people including Taylor swift. Ama- Watson Ellie Goulding. And to me most. Interestingly though, I guess considering how the British society works who really knows. But crested a bonus prince Harry's ex girlfriend, but she's still tight with all of them. And she went to Harry magazine, ding and usually's wedding. So I guess is not the craziest thing ever. But I do think it's interesting that so much more fascinating than anything the Daily Mail turned off about that Instagram feed. You also follows a British G Q G Q style. He follows sort of few Meam accounts that looked like also I didn't have time right before this podcast. But I know you guys are an amazing fan base are in the limelight crew. If any of you guys wanna do some more Slough thing, I feel like if Kate did have a secret Instagram he would be following it or it would be following James. And he's only follow. Knowing about three hundred people. So I cannot believe actually I can't believe this. So I don't think it should be the shocked anyone, but I had the thought that maybe later today, I would try to look through the three hundred more carefully to see if I can figure out if he's following Kate somehow like extra credit challenge throwing our listeners. I wanna look too though, I'm nervous because even in the half hour before we recorded his following count went up by like a thousand people following him. So I feel like he's gonna come out of whatever he's doing right now and see all these followers and maybe get nervous and either go private or do something. But if you have any insight into James's Instagram presence, please let us know another news item broke right before we were about to record from us weekly about Meghan Markle. The magazine claims that Meghan is miserable. The as in Harry's. Taking full responsibility. The source says mega made a huge sacrifice by moving. The pond away from her mom in friends marrying into the Royal family isn't anywhere near as glamorous isn't seems so in a lot of ways Harry feels responsible for Meghan being so miserable. Us reports that Harry wanted to make a public statement many times defending Meghan, but was advised not to and the report also added that Megan associ- stabbing publicist who can quickly response to reports. Quash rumors wasn't able to do. So so that has been especially frustrating. This adds Nagin has so much on her plate between being pregnant in the public backlash. She's finding the whole situation incredibly stressful. You would not know that though because on Thursday, she also made her first appearance in the new year and official capacity. She visited one of her new patronage is smart works which helps fallen Rable in longtime unemployed women regain the skills and confidence to get into work. It's one of the four patronage four patronage is Megan will champion. Josh did you see the photos of this? Visit. Yeah, I didn't get to pick through them to carefully. But I thought the Jess which was she was helping. The ideas you help people prepare for interviews. Right and style them, and it felt very Meghan to me, very Meghan. She went in this, very Angelina Jolie outfit. She had a very body hugging. Black dress on along with a camel coats. And I love love love that they have video footage of her styling one of these women, and she puts a woman in almost the identical camel coats. Not see that. That's amazing. I mean, this is so funny to me because it's. I guess if there's anyone in the world who had wanted for help me prepare for an interview, even unrelated to anything in her background, or whatever be magazine, I feel she would know how to help me. It felt like it was so Meghan on the knows that I was kind of impressed. Actually, I guess she's made a lot of secret visits to the Satter. So that's good. Always intrigued whenever they talk. It's the same as when the cookbook. It's always amazing to me the operation and just more people aren't like us. And if they saw Megan Markle walking out of a kitchen, or whatever that plays was this places like that, they aren't covert photos, or like these secret visits kind of perplex me. I think you know, what else is kind of interesting like I feel like most of the things we see Kate, and Harry and William do they never really interact that much it seems like all of Megan's appearance of their so hands on and maybe that's making. It seem a little odd. Right. The video of her getting out of the car. There's a woman there degreed her in the woman is like ready for the handshake. And of course, Meghan dozen to handshakes she does a quick handshake. And then she comes in for the hug, which you can tell the woman is like very taken aback like frozen and place doesn't know what to do and then Meghan gifts her full double air kisses like, she's Victoria Beckham. I think that honestly is what? This is I am Billy playing into media narrative now, but feel Princess Diana ill little like she really gets like on the ground in the mix. But you know, I think any of this podcast. Josh our talking about how he wanted more unpredictable moments from royals, and I shouldn't see those erica's is coming. Adele, sit tones pointless meanders is the first sapphire everything in spite guess for the first time in this. I don't know if this is gonna work, and I don't even know really what you know. When you catch yourself doing something physically, and you say, well, that's interesting Druce coots, what do you up to their? I have my what is that? My Sosa my right hand in hand, my right index finger is arrest of a hand is kinda cool out was to but my right ex- index fingers out in kind of hook pointing position. To the left part of my forehead, the right part of your right, right, brain, right left, brain, it is under right side of my forehead in. It's just perched. They're kind of like, I was pointing to something or if touching something. But I like, I don't have anything. That's I wanna touch see say his ED's may getting may A m. My hormones going wasn't dad saying, oh, boy and prepubescent gets mackney, and it wasn't a little scratchy poo. It just I just found my finger. They're not actually do. You know, what a full-body missed is someone that can read the fold, you know, anyway, I don't wanna get supposed to be setting this up and also my arms getting tired. But yeah, my fingers just up there Catolica saying I'm thinking, but what made me say, I'm thinking his body. What are you doing? So maybe like maybe somewhere another university. I'm thinking about something here just on talking without thinking if you're new welcome. I'm glad you're here. Really hope I can help you fall asleep. Now, despite guest is not work for everyone. But here's a proposal in your free to accept it or go, go about your business. Give tries to see if it helps to see if it to sleep. See if it relaxes you make. You more comfortable? See how goes bad guest is free to consume particularly for new listeners. You could come in. And browse you say we'll like we mean, I can come in this restaurant tastes the food. And see what I think is he. Oh, yeah. All of its imaginary here, you know, do have a business and working on a sip and bras. So we can pretend say you come in. And you sit him. It sip and broths the first to sip is furry. That's not gonna be our catchphrase. But that would be one of our tenants. You say, well, how do you run? Well, the first sip is free. It's very small sip though in it's regulated sip. And believe me, I'm behind the counter and say, whoa, whoa. You've had sorry comes in those catch up the pay the paper things you can put just a dollop a ketchup in it. So we serve our first sip is free. Okay. Sorry, who knew listeners newest I may have lost a few there, maybe fell asleep. Maybe made me this isn't for me. But if you're in the neutral zone, which is a pretty wide range of the spectrum. You might say no, I don't understand what I say. Yeah. Kickback see if this bad cast can help don't try to overstate it. Because. I'm not running. I don't know how many cylinders the average brain has. And some part of grinches said there is no cylinders than another part said were not Celinda Rickel in great. You're paying attention in the part of C L vocabulary cynical somebody another part of my brain just yelled cynical. Why why would you do that? We're having fun with cylinder and Celinda ical. And now wanted to sing a song about. It's like I'd sing. It's not unusual to be Celinda coal. If maybe a car could sink cars already say saying that really like a AA MC. Oh, maybe it saying that song. No, okay. Well, I gotta get back to new listener. So nice to meet you who are you? Really? I'm talking to a part of my brain refuses to answer that question. Okay. Anyway, if your new listener don't try to make too much sensings because it's a bit of nonsense around here in the whole idea of the nonsense type stuff in the Cape going off to I mean, I'm good at going off topic naturally and good at nonsense actually naturally, but believe it takes bring some levity to bedtime in soon. You'll realize okay, I can try to follow scoots. They can follow him. He goes it pointless. Meanders send my voice cross dip Dir. Ignite willing, soothing creek adults tones go off topic all that stuff. So. Just give it a try see if it works, structurally, what to expect to show starts off with a few minutes of business. So we keep it for a as a people sport showing sponsors. Then there's an intro about seven minutes into the intro intros round twelve minutes as they are not like anything other than show fun show within a show. Why say fun part of my brain just put quotes around it already. But it's a part of the show where you can get familiar or obese familiarity, some levity. Is there will be some so integral thanking? For sure. It was a strange. I don't always observe everything. That's going some art of part of my brain just yelled at stupendous with just as a word not saying what I said was stupendous. Like, you know, what is this called free association? Right. When I said Celinda coil. Another mar part of my brain said stupendous on then. Okay. We don't need you chiming in with other S T U words, unless it's sturgeon they take over for here. I at least church consciousness today. So oh, so the intro is kind of like a show finish. Oh, sometimes new people or people say, oh, it's like a bit of. It's just a show they show some people. Listen to it to fall asleep is some people listen to it, more and more people. I'm hearing from listened to during the day to say, whoa. That was like a head some intensity to it. Let me listen a little scoots row again make that phone call later. Let me listen to some scoots c- could do that few people skip the intro to go right to the story here. The discussion of doctor who which will be tonight's SO. However, do it, you know, more a lot of people also semi pitches when they play any intro their cats or dogs or had like to see some turtles coming to take the scoots, your intros are just as the same length that takes metro to come get in bed with me. And they said, well, what wh- hold the phone here? You're you in bed with a turtle can make sense because you couldn't like they couldn't roll over on turtle because if it would be an shell does to deterred always sleep in their shelves. That'd be another thing in an not talking about in cartoons talking about in reality. And here's another thing what for turtle oversleep. And then they do they do the same thing as humans to when they stick their head out of the shell. They say. Oh, the sun would how would time is it. Holy mackerel. Now, I'm going to be really late because it takes forever to get get no fence trying to make jokes that your speak, Spence turtles. I'm just saying. If you're listening, and you're you have a turtle is a bed mate, a real turtle. Not a. Your turtle lake being. Well, if you've totally being it's bed mate, also. But as the turtle neck you say, oh, yeah. Randy, where's total neck dmed. Also, if if they do get in touch with me about that too in Debbie interesting, of course, when I started to sleep in and turtlenecks never went back. Is really tell tell me more. I'm deepen this intro. But I, you know, trying to tell the new listeners, but tell me more about wearing turtlenecks to bed. Will you which which type NAT turtle turtleneck? I of. In weiser. No, call those quarter turtlenecks or have turtlenecks to double where he folded over where you could go all, you know, if you wanted to you could, you know, unroll it up Jere knows ever you get a nice fold in air in just just it's just like a comforter for my neck. What can I say, see, you're brilliant? You may have changed pajamas for forever today and sleep with me. You can we get does anybody have the number for pajamas today that doesn't exist? What about pajamas weekly? They lay internet took them. What about pajamas monthly? Okay today were purchase. I Vanity Fair. Really? That's good. That's interesting. That's pajamas. Monthly would about be PJ's BJ league. Like duri? Oh, I get back to this area. You're we grade do you do you have one of the PJ BJ monthly what about PJ quarterly that? I would say that's a quarterback really PJ quarterly to me like two they should run for office. This this bad gas of sodas brought to you by PJ quarterly. So anyway, if you're new so. Shirk of the show is the intro goes out for awhile. Then there's we'll be talking some business. Then we talk about a doctor who episode in very meandering an indirect way, and then we have some banks in consis structure show, you're under no pressure to listen in no pressure to fall asleep here to keep you company issue drift off to take your mind off stuff to be your boyfriend to be your bore, bud. It to be a friend in the deep dark night. You know, why because I've been there tossing and turning a know how feels in a believe you deserve a good night's sleep. Or if you're heading having a rough day or you did is something say, hey, let's think about this. Let's think about whatever Raynham stuff just it just rattled off twelve minutes of randomness in. But seriously those last couple ideas, I think have some merit PJ quarterly. Somebody's about name. And maybe you could like if you're entering one. If you're if you're ending your turtle and a competition. If I mean, I think that'd be a good name for turtle especially one that you dress up as like like a like professor at Halloween. You say like to meet you meet me, my turtle PJ quarterly, you know, PJ for short or PGE also sleep with my. I mean, I sleep in the same bed as my turtle. So I just wanna get you know, I don't know if that's the deal breaker. Oh, it is. Okay. What was it? The fact that may turtle a first name in a last name impossibly too. I aim Skah's PJ could stand for something. Or the fact, you know, people in their beds. Oh, see see. Maybe the ski conversation go into how does the in bed? Maybe jumps that you'd have to. Okay. Give to the list. Sorry about that. Okay. Hey, some here to keep you company here pushing a good mood. Ideally or neutral mood you'd say. Yeah. Scoots him. I don't know what he was. He was messing around last night. I don't know something about a a something in some tortoise related. Maybe tortoiseshell gla- tortoise in tortoiseshell glasses. I can't believe it to the the end of the intro. That's not a good thing. You're right PJ. Maybe a PG quarterly. Meet my new menu subconscious PJ quarterly. It. My sub catch is very turtle like in has a. It can you deal with my lizard brain police. Thank you. Okay. So anyway, I'm here to help him here to keep you company. Appreciate you. Checking the show out give it a few tries, and what you know. I work very hard in a in strived help you fall asleep. Right. And here's a couple of ways we keep his show going. A body. I don't know if you check that are shop yet over it. I sleep at me podcast. I'm so store merchandise store. Get it some amazing shirts. Look up would what is the say Spencer Hawkin get glassy wind or grassy wind mountains. Bells. Some mung Sii hiking. They have staves or stabs or stamps. They can look like they would be chanting over, but Ron Dona Chee, Donna CHAI. He's from you'll recognize him from game as owns someone box. And they say, hey, we want your house in. He says you can't have the Sassaman the caretaker whatever. And then we get Suber action movie amongst become like orange action stars and totally it was a little bit different than the rest of the episode except for one or two there in these orange in nj type things is doing super high jumps there's action music. I mean, I guess the probably come in. Later on as y. In there doing the action against the people that were caring for the manner. Like, what are they are? They taking out servants. What is going on ear like by or they do par core in the kitchen? He ended in they go down the the good to put everybody in the basement, and they put this canvas stark down there. I don't know if you've gone camping. And, you know, the head of canvas guitar not like a, you know, any kind of tarp. And then just squish it up into route in the trunk and threw it in the garage and corner, but as it what's happening here in they say, good luck with that disturb has been cou is release you down here to the star is choline. And they said we went camping about forty five years ago. And they say see, you everyone works what I think also because they say well won't be that hard to clean the Avs. It opens. Obviously with the twist to nose in. Then we see Tartus dump a damp something. It's late nineteen seventies. The dagger says bin bag. Overalls been bag versus lamilla get some of this. Rose has overalls and. Oh, he says bin bag. I think he's talking about around fit for the seventies. Then he searched Iraq in some Ian Dury in the by Dury in blankets and ruin nineteen Seventy-nine. Dr spunk in out rose. Can't believe it. He's she's like, oh, you're punk with Little Rock, Billy and guys. Like, we're taking a catch took charter go see the cancer. You know, this is why we use it. A battle of Trafalgar anti gravity Olympics Caesar Rubicon and injury tap Aranka. Sheffield England nineteen Seventy-nine remember twenty first in then they start to the move the mood music rock and the doctors banging bell or something Tartus bell. But to have a rough landing as a head tour Sheffield at actor. I love the seventies man mobile movies. Good Sancha Skylab mixed. Then they get off the charts, and they say, holy Redcoats, or whatever they say eighteen seventy nine in seventeen never mind, but. Is there an skid? They say what's up Scotland is sewn about them looking dazed and confused, Elliot. No there people in red coats. And they say why is this girl not clothed brab? Really? And I didn't really that's like a little bit of ongoing joke and they had scotch. Accent us other doctor figures it out. He goes, oh, I've been chasing her around because she's in these overall so in starch, tune of bad Scottish accent route in boots almost as bad as mine hoots Munn hoots Mon and he says don't do a Scottish accent? Then he shows his psychic favors credentials of some doctor from Edinburgh. But the approach he's broaches slowly with all due deference to the the coach carriage, and they opened the door. In its soclean going Victoria or majesty in she goes credentials since she goes, oh, you're my Lord provost. I guess oh, they say Queen Victoria, empress of India defender of the faith Andro sorry about the outfit. She goes. Yeah. I got five daughters and she s she looks psychic paper. She is. Yeah, we're trying to get to Aberdeen or something in doctorates. How come you're not on the train? Go like line was down. In goes next. And she goes, she was no probably something planned. She says, you don't have untold total. She goes until really tough good morning. Dr one bell Maurel. Each in seventy nine six six people tried to take me out as choline. What of laugh rose Wasser say we are not amused, which I think must be miss show at have time to lick it up. We see the big house. They're going to a big Tillis cope. Can't do it. The -mongst her their undercover pretending they work. There is also big corrosive front charming, if Rosie charming if rustic that's what issue Queen says is places charming if not rustic. And I think she makes a bet was a doctor is simply that she can get the Queen to say we were I'm not amused or were not amused in all sorts to torture would estate so holy back story robbery of the crown. They say like it up a shish we see telescope again. It actresses something. I like him, but it's a bit rubbish. I don't know what the maybe about it is guys stand to may. 'cause telescopes is too many prisons that actresses totally weird. Doesn't make any sense. What you have that many Prizms on a? Telescope Verdy infinite word of God winkles, doctor Polly mass or so maybe the day is a regional Torchwood, Johnny Torchwood. Also, he was in the fabulous five or something. Stars and magic he was into. Then they talk about how Prince Albert hung with his Torchwood, dude. Banking eighteen seventy five or something. I don't know in how Albert and him to talk focal or magic. They also loved puppies and camping tar Petar poems. I think they call them. Then. In. He by the way, you any close to row Styler missed Eyler, they call her because she's she's dress like she's going to a hoedown those haven't been invented. Maybe they have which is in the American west in dinners at seven still trying to get the green to say I'm not amused in. They see great news. If you're going to be outdoor camping, there's a full moon tonight. Only can't you know, only thing as most of our tarps are spoiled sunsets roses and armoire always see beautiful when the sunsets against these mountains in Scotland. Then we see rose armoire. She's looking at outfits is big music playing with the. We also see like the the monks every bottlers there's like never been in a house with this many bottlers actually have been anywhere with about ler. But, you know, even in my magic nation also butlers or making dinner because everybody else's trying to clean camping tarp. They say drinks for everybody. All the all the red coats to. Then rose meets a friend. In armour. Who says, you know, they got us cleaning these camp tarps that they can't clean them is some sort of strange thing. And then all the guards so fall asleep in the raptor roses. I don't know the doctoral know what to do. She knows who we're going to camp outside. We have to have tarps. You know, they say could you sleep with your ten on the ground with everyone knows true, unless you know, that millimeter really makes it more comfortable. Flora who I don't know. I have that me. Oh that was a Rosa's new friends. Name rose finds a sleeping guards. She says we're just gonna sleep inside. It's recapping outside. They give busted by Manco who was undercover Butler ACRI. Another is said undercover boss about undercover Butler where butlers go undercover Accu. How about that? They could be like the next movie is a TV show him in undercover Butler. It could be a series idea down the road undercover. Butler. Somebody remind me actually at dinner by candlelight row Anat Rosen's air, she's choline into Arps now, but the doctor the head of the son of Torchwood a Jimmy Torchwood his name. Either having dinner by candidates are talking about this crystal no MU their drinking on a crystal. And I tell me about your dad tell me about these stories. You. So I miss my dad used to. He was the torch. They they called him. He wasn't actually he didn't have any superpowers that we know about any loved camping. Lana table, taro glasses unindo tempting to glasses at each place, setting greens. A little bit said she misses sprints Albert's is wish you they? Tell stories serious dangling. Oh, serious dangling bike hearings. If I would've finished the sentences queens wearing them. She says tell us everyone downstairs. Always see the butlers dark is full moons or full Mohme's in. Oh, yeah. Is a puppy barking to. And they say once in a generation you're going to camp outside and unclean tarps Chirps that wouldn't be cleaned. Rose goes, and she says we've got to get outside and camp we can't cleanly stops in. They're never going to dry. And then she says, you know, what if you spend enough time in the city stops aren't from earth that simple. These are intergalactic charts in there. No good. See? There's also a bunch of puppies somebody recognized from oh as the doctor recognize him from Harry Potter. Then dinner and butlers like whispering to the moonlight the diet that catches the doctor's attention. Of course. He says we doing and then he said that actresses what's going on here. And he says, oh, they're species out there that went to a henchman tarps. That's what the parking about. And that's goes attackers. Nell something else, wink who will be whispers in. They say, I don't know the they don't look at poll net. Means you your ladyship. Oh, that's when rose is trying to pull. She says also starts incredibly heavy. Let's pull it out and shake it out in. She's trying to shake ATar bound to get a flat on the ground or air trying to clean it crumpled up. Who was that? Is in dinner, stole chaos, and they see what do you want to starting in the camping in the pug, and they say throw. Rose gets wanna turps read out in doctors. She runs into Dax or she says, let's get out of here and figure out what's in. She's where the heck even been is in. They see these puppies, which you clearly are like space, but he's that PIN things with space Bowers in the doctor's transfix puppies Arpaio. Say lack the doors. They say go to the bathroom, and he's expensive rugs or something the queens, very calm. She says, I'm prepared. And then somebody says some tour she goes direct form of address as your majesty. In the doctor rose and the crew like to Queen and the the due to Jimmy Torchwood. They're working on a plan. Puppy are everywhere. The doctors can still transfixed and there's a bunch of action scenes actions action up action. And we see the monks again, they're in their orange outfits in the doctor. So he tries to warn somebody about the ping puppies in the tarps. He says you can't camp on those sharps covered myspace, but BP. Puppy looks for something net. Then the Queen grabs her aback so she because she had this box. It would I thought was like the crown jewels that she liked up, and what is happening then the Queen highs and as about. Is in there surrounded by the monks who went to camp outside and turps equations in denial about the puppies is in doctor says those go jogging around the state, so they ju- jogging around these shades. Chanting music. There's a chest. I have it in the the due to Jimmy tortured says a by some time or somebody says in an roses transfixed in the room was the shooter armor and trying to comb the plan ends of it's the library, which I just saw the second drastic world scenery reminded me of it. And what is the waiting here? Where what are we waiting for? Even the doctor does no. In an him in rose hug to break the tension. Jimmy Torchwood apologizes bald at actively Auld ASA Latics. Roses, still clowning around queens, NAT happy. This is not my world. She says is in the doctors put things together he says, there's some mistletoe he says mistletoe oil in the wood mistletoe. He says something with this mistletoe. Got some power. Or maybe it's how they trained the puppies. Only the peon mistletoe. And he goes she had not he goes, no, no not to be on missile. He goes to the peace. Go away from mistletoe to go potty in the Dieter. Sis were your father had all the brains because we're in a library books. The greatest Bubby training tools in the world and he puts his reading glasses. I'm just school. Then they're all calling Queen. Mum had looks at mumber. Mom, technicality would say word there. Let's see Otis is it Queen because the Queen grills the doctor here. A see what are scrip shins? My father didn't treat it as story. Explain yourself. As Iran around. Also, the the wife of Jimmy Torchwood is like she's she's thinking fast with the mistletoe. Elliot's doctor finds a woodcutting book about mistletoe. Anisi? We can here's the story that Hispano easy and the turps gaming unaccommodating comet together. Let's see Dr carvings in wood chopping who. There's shopping in the middle mistletoe. Yeah. They're doing research everyone's talking at once until the doctor finds the woodcutting of like a picture book. Woodcutting miss the species from space also sees very steam Panchi in the Queen has this big diamond. Which I think right came up earlier Ono. She says keep an eye on this diamond for me if I'm gonna have to go out and camp with puppies. I don't want to get up. He stuff on this diamond. The Cole eye cocoa. I know or I don't know. I didn't have Lucas a forget that is e and she goes Cincinnati. Good lock in dodgers, Tim you take a look at it. And they see it's worth a wages interior planet for a whole week. In rosa's. Like, can you? Imagine my mom. She take singing run. And say dockers way you carry. And she goes I'm taking it to the Royal jewellers at Hazel Ed to get re-cut rose goes it's perfect. And she was Prince Albert was always trying to shape in Erie addresses. He reduced by forty percent. And she was never sought to shine was right? It was still unfinished in the doctor's away too. Sick unfinished. He goes unfinished business a business in this house any goes Hugo's transfer elver Jimmy Tor, Johnny Torchwood were working on a plan. He this is the perfect diamond for the perfect moment. Ecosystem thing was to catch the puppies in tarps and. It teach about these where to go body and appear. He goes, this is to purifies the tarp. So you can camp outside in queens mind is blown also in the puppies get in the room. And everyone's like way, we we cover to mistletoe you're gonna get beat at an. Then they the wave of the Jimmy Torchwood Johnny Torchwood Jimmy Torchwood at a no, she's rose mistletoe. So they can jump over it like mistletoe water ended in the run into the room with the observatory trying to get up there. Why travel notch separate at all doctors. Over congressman Steve king of Iowa echoed across Capitol Hill after he made controversial comments about white supremacy. Under growing pressure to resign. Publican congressman Steve king isn't going anywhere. After an interview at the New York Times in which king asked white nationalist white supremacist western civilization. How did that language become offensive? After years of controversial comments king stood on the house floor and said, this that ideology never shows up in my head. I don't know how it could possibly come out of my mouth in his defense. King argued his comments were taken out of context. And then he repeated them in the way he wanted them delivered. Don't wanna read it to you the way I believe I said it, and that's this. White nationalist bite supremacist. Western civilization. How did that language become offensive? But moments later, his colleagues, Democrats and Republicans voted overwhelmingly to disapprove of his remarks king is being stripped of his committee assignment, the Republican leaders stopped short of saying king should go. I don't I don't believe Mr. Muller would would be involved in a witch hunt. And. William Barr insisted he would resist any pressure from President Trump at will not be bullied into doing anything. I think is wrong by anybody whether it be editorial boards or congress or the president Democrats pressing bar asking him, would you fire Muller if the president asked you to assuming there was no good 'cause assuming no good caught. I I would not carry out that instruction and will the American people ever see Muller's report bar saying that under Justice department guidelines mos- findings would be confidential, but that in the interests of transparency he would then release his own summary of the report to the public and congress. The lowest number since nineteen Eighty-eight when during the Reagan administration only one hundred and fifty one cases were referred the data was compiled by the nonprofit public employees for environmental responsibility, executive director, Jeff rook says criminal case referrals have dropped considerably over time. If a sixty percent reduction just from two thousand eleven and a seventy two percent reduction from twenty years ago, so historically EPA produce many more prosecutable cases than they're producing. Now. Roque also says there is a concerning reduction in the number of staff at the EPA whose job it is to look. Into potential criminal cases in nineteen ninety congressman dated at the EPA criminal investigation division, deploy at least two hundred special agents. But now they're down to a hundred thirty agents for the entire country Roque attributes the decline in staff and criminal case referrals to a combination of things to pierced us via combination of them starving the program and policy initiatives that make criminal enforcement an absolute last resort. Even if it's merited President Trump is a supporter of deregulation and has taken steps to change the country's policy and stance on environmental issues. Trump has withdrawn the US for the Paris climate accord and has been a staunch supporter of coal energy. He said this during a visit to wheeling West Virginia in September dig call right?
