"Let's go back to Tony jacklin. So Lee Trevino during the 1975 matches, he's drinking during the matches. Is that am I telling that story? Remember in that record? Yeah, I remember vague, but I'm being Barnes are used to do that as well. But Ponzi would mark his blow with a kind of double diamond, you know, back in the UK. I mean, he was notorious. For not lay, but I mean, you know, laterally lay doesn't drink as far as I'm aware now, I think he packed it in a long, long ago. But no, there was there was stuff going on that wouldn't happen today. Let's put it that way. And then along the same lines, Jay Herbert, the captain in the 1971 team. He had some issues after that. Well, yeah. He couldn't, I don't know what the hell he was talking about when he was making his victory speech. I mean, he was a bomb they couldn't put toward together. I mean, he was, you know, I think he was invited to sit down. You know, after 5 minutes, nobody knew what the hell he was trying to say, but it was it was a different time and fun to look back and remember those times that was changed a great deal over the last 50 60 years and I've seen most of it. Well, that's why I wanted to get as many of these stories documented as well as we're talking to the guy here. There's a responsible for changing a lot of that. So much of the writer kept one that the fact that the writer cup went on as long as it did when it was so one sided is somewhat of a miracle. And there were many times where it looked like it may not go on, especially after World War II. And whatnot. And all these all these things that we laugh at now. No, you're right. But you know, individuals stepped up to the plate in between the war and there was a friend of mine that at royal birkdale stepped in in 65 and I mean, they couldn't find a sponsor for it. What we're talking about, you know, what kind of money is the 25,000 pounds they said? Get on with it. And that was Brian park, and I got to know Brian very well. I lived on the isle of Jersey for tax purposes back in the 70s and Brian was there we played a lot of golf from andra his son and I still retweet and eat which bits on ride a cup and obviously is very proud of what his father did and rightly so. But but for Brian park, it wouldn't have happened that year, and American nothing did similar thing. Robert Hudson. Yeah, Hudson prior to that. 1947. Yeah, absolutely. So here we go. And then but then you got to 77 that led him, where I won my open, and huggett was a captain. And why stuff got picked for the team. And Tom and I are great powers. He was one of my closest friends. But still is. And he's been through a tough time this last year, but he decided it was more important for him to go to Alaska and shoot a ram with curly horns than it was to plan to ride a cup, which was a foregone confusion if you like. And so the writing was on the wall. It's basically. That was the first time anybody as far as I'm aware got picked for the ride and didn't bother showing up. That prompted Jack after those matches at lydham, to write to lord Derby, who was as I said earlier the head of the page AI and suggested Europe be involved in the fright. And another very fascinating thing and I don't think I should pull this out so much in the book. But then there were only Spain, but I think in the 79 match which was my last match first European match turned out to move by last. As a player, there were only two Spanish players Antonio Guerrero and savvy. Maybe Kenneth ours was in Napa. I think there was only two, and they were the only country represented. This year, this very year now, 2021, there's been 14 European nations represented in the Ryder Cup. You know, with Victor hovland and the Danes now in a Swedes and so it's pretty amazing to have witnessed that, you know, we involve Europe. But they were on those only one European country that was at that standard. That had plans that were able to represent country. So there's a lot of water coming under the bridge since that first match in 79 and Greenbrier. Is there water? Is it water under the bridge? Now with you and Brian hugged after. We talk. What happened there? Well, he was he was bloody hopeless is what happened, I mean he was changed personality. He came aloof. You know, I mean, only just spent time with his wife and we would invite him to let's all come and join us for no, no, no, we have to start there. And then, of course, never talked to us about pairings or who was with her. I ended up playing with Ayman darcey, the Irish man who actually hold the pot at muirfield village in 87 to mean we couldn't lose everyone. Savvy hold the winning part, but Ayman hall, the one four footed down a hill on the 18th green against Crenshaw, I'll never forget that. Anyway, amen and I will pals, but, you know, we didn't. You know, there was nothing more than, you know, our golf games didn't necessarily complement each other and so on. Anyway, we lost. And so we go out and support the matches behind, you know, on. Car member who were watching, hug it. What you doing here? Why aren't you on a practice scrap? That's why you talking about you. You know little bit, you know, I mean, it was insulting and spectators everywhere. And a similar support in the team. So I, you know, I told him and no uncertain terms were actually, you know, it's not a bloody football team. I said I don't know what you're talking about. You're out of order. Anyway, I was on the team. He dropped me from the singles. Won the open at this place. And I'm actually proud to salmon on a member of the club now. But he was useless. Honestly, and he got he actually got a gun for it. He got the MBE for a job well done. That's how Britain works. It's extraordinary. And anyway, I've seen him since, of course, and then it was after that that I had my successful. Runner's captain and made a changes and we talk, you know, but his captaincy was something that I'd rather forget. That being said, it was part of history because it prompted Jack to write the letter had to let it not been written. It wouldn't be the European writer cup..

"Let's get back to Tony Jacqueline. You know, we're not that far removed from, I believe you write in the book that in 1969 or excuse me what year was it that there were cars pulled up to the 18th green? 69 at birthday, okay, I didn't realize that the Clubhouse is like a ship, you know, it's just like a bridge of a ship, and it was Saddam dark. I was playing with, I think I was playing with nail calls against trevino. I'm just, you know, foursomes and four ball in one day. It's a tough over in England, light September, but the days are very short and we all mess around. We all miss little pots on the last 12, but we were putting on the headlights of these cars coming through. And that was the year of course of concession that Jack conceded the two footer to for the first time in history which was let's do that story. I know you've told that many, many times, it's been referred too many times, but I think for the sake of history on this podcast, we'd love to love to hear the story because it goes back to at least the previous hole as well being a huge curve ball that was thrown in the match. Yeah, that's right. I mean, we were all scratched through 15, and I lost 6 teams, which was power for 17 was a par 5, we both hit long islands into the grain, and I was maybe 50 feet and Jack was 25. He was half the distance. And I hauled this 50 footer. I mean, I mean, obviously I was trying to do it, but I mean, that stage, anybody that plays golf knows that these things don't happen when you most want them to and anyway, when in from 50 feet the crowd went bananas and Jack missed his butt we were all square. And ironically, the Brian huggett who was a future captain not a very good one, I put in the book, but we'll get to that one, too. Yeah. He was he had a 5 footer for 5 footer on the last screen and he had this roar he thought I'd beaten Jack. Because the last time he'd seen a scoreboard were all square didn't realize I'd lost 60. Anyway, he hold the pot like a tenacious little sod he was. He was he was a tenacious player huggett. And he sort of broke down on captain Eric brown's jacket lapel. We've done it. We've done it and Larry said to him. No, no, no, that was Jacqueline, just getting even. And, of course, reality stepped in as it does. Anyway, Jack and I by this time we were walking to all square. We both had three words off to take good shots both in the fairway. And I was hanging off ahead of him. And he hauled it up to me. Tony, I waited he caught me up and put his hand on my shoulder and we started walking. He's looking at me as a nervous Jack and bloody petrified. And he said, I just saw it as if it had come selection of real just the same way you do. And I mean, I'm telling you, it's not where you want to be. I mean, your teammates are all done. The matches are the outcome is reliant on our game, and I had a good 8 time second shot went about 25 30 feet pada whole. Jack hid it in close to the night and maybe 20 feet or so. And I put it up two feet 20 inches to two feet, that's his reckoning, not mine, and I'm marked. Honey had this part to take it all to win the ride cup and I'm stood there saying well, you know, he just just basically waiting out and he hit this damp hut four and a half 5 feet pass too far past for me to say or suggest good good, you know? I mean, that was out of the question. So now I'm thinking Amsterdam teacher and I will ever ask how much you're going to have to make this pot. That was my focus. And of course, he steps up and create player putter he was. He held his putt. And in the doing of it, as he picks up, goes to pick the ball out the hole. He picks my marker up. First, he did it all in one sort of and realization may not have made my partner more. You know, a relief call it what you will. But that was the concession and he knew I'd wonder the open a couple months before he knew Britain had a new hero if you like, and he didn't want to see anything happen to spoil it. And he said, I don't think you would have missed it, but I would never give you the opportunity in these circumstances, which was, and I was now the only time I put pen to paper to a fellow and just you know, I just said your gesture on my team were something that will live with me forever. And it was a great moment to sportsmanship, of course, and we built golf course 15 years or so ago, not too far from where we're sitting. And it turned out to be successful the concession and of course they instigated Nicholas Jackson award at a ride a couple this year, which was great honor. As far as were concerned, and it will go on in perpetuity and kind of nice to nice to know that. The relief on your face in that image is pretty it's apparent to viewers. The kind of putt that only something bad could have happened. Of course, you're expected to make it. But it's impossible not to think don't screw up. Even for a champion like yourself. I've had a few seizures since they're not going to tell you that. So, you know, not to have to make it was obviously a relief. As long as we're on rider cups from the past that needed to take us to 1967, which I believe is your first rider cup going up in a plane with Arnold Palmer at the 1960 7 Ryder Cup. Tell us about that. Well, he just bought a new learjet and we were in Houston at champions club the club that Jimmy demerit and Jackie Burke built and owned. We were hitting balls on the range and he's done Arnold just gets finished. Okay, who wants to come for a ride? You know, I could schmuck I put my hand up, George will Scottish team a mine was next to me and I'm up for it. And Bobby household. He was the pro at royal birkdale he was over there with the group. And Jimmy demerit, he was he was a navy a term self. So we all go off around the corner of the airport and we climb into this it wouldn't be as not very stand up in them. And but it was pretty luxurious and off we went and before we knew where we were sort of going sedately over the golf course and you could see where we'd been half now before hitting balls and there were still some of the guys out there. And you could recognize their swings when we were pretty low on this thing. And I thought this is lovely, and all of a sudden he turns distinct round. And we go, we're going flat out at about 500 feet..

"Go with the cooper's where we start. I don a star bryce. I just saw the first comment. Was this pod sucks. And i was like fuck you and i was like. Oh okay i got so. You're doing data right. Assuming i'm buzzing buzzing about speech what do you what he does. He's back baby everybody. I kept a list of everybody. You're on it hated on him. Don't do this for the last two three four years all. He denied him three times back. Baby i went back and watched. Where i if you're referring to in our preseason preview. I picked him to finish over under in the world. Rankings over eighty one or whatever it was i will defend everything i said at that point. I all of those other beds. I was awful a betting at that point now in the draft king and i said basically. This is what i'm doing for you guys. I making this bet. Because i'm wrong on all of these and i had made a sacrifice for all of you and no one has thanked me. I should thank me for my service. unbelievably cool. I need to go back and listen to see when the first time that i picked him for real saint george wallace. Because i think it was over. We've been talking about for years years and years. I it's just. It's always validating right when you have that feeling two years ago. You're like man everything i've seen about this place like that makes too much. And then they come play in the first round as now even if he plays bad like. We're already validated. Exactly ready to crown ready to give him the cleric joke as hesitant is i m to give. Tc credit we went and played royal birkdale in the spring of two thousand seventeen. And we're on hold like three. He's looking very speedy. Course son of a bitch went on one bit for that stuff well. Let's let's skip over some platitudes. Like why is it a speedy course. Why why were we so far ahead on this one. Why we've been talking. You gotta hit golf shots. Speeds talked about on the podcast that he was on with us and talked about in the press conference afterward of you know when he is in touch with his creative side and almost nothing. You didn't feel like he was battling anything with his swing today. He's kind of flight and shots differently. Cutting them drawing them kind of working at both ways. You know really getting creative. When it start. Line is not directly at the flag. I feel like he just has more fun with it. Entrusts his body a lot more you know instead of thinking technically and he spoke to that and i think it has a serious effect and how he plays it just and when it's not a driving contest like this guy's stock should go straight up to the top and he's driving. It actually really really good sounded driving distance contract because it is kind of a driving contest and we could probably get into that. I mean you do have to put it in the fairway or or barely off of it. But what you're saying is the the typical week to week. What we see is driving contest. Who can hit the farthest while being in the corridors correct right and and that's not the case here is essentially what you aspire to exactly an artist and not never hitting streak shy truly birds of a feather have sure he'd i'm sure he'd agree with that. I think we got. We can't gloss over like the potter was hot. That's but that was what i was gonna say was like confident hot as in pouring it in the centre with the right speed and i felt like in the majors this year. He's just been around edges but not really getting into the whole with the right speed. This was like no doubters. He had one bad putty. Missed a short birdie put. That actually was a lot closer than i thought it was going to be. But this was like my speed is dial on these greens and the putter is not a question. Mark right now. It's an asset which is a complete flip from what we've seen in the first few majors share. I think gretler look great point that he looked confident. He'll totally in control. He was you know he was. He was guiding jordan. Around all over the place. I think part of it. Maybe i'm assigning too much value to this but we've talked about this a gusta and capitola and there was that famous press conference. He did where i think. It was at capital where he was talking about. Part of the reason. I play at augusta's all the uneven lies and i'm so used to doing that and maybe other guys aren't and that was the year he shot thirty eight hundred capitol hill and was kind of saying like. I think it's kind of the same thing. It's got to be the same thing at a row. Saint george's with those fairways being outrageous in. Like you can't have a flat lie out there pretty much anywhere. I would think you saw that with i. Think a lot of the wedges and even some of his wedges where it's like man you know someone has one hundred four yards and they block it fifty feet right like it's so hard to tell on. Tv like that above their feet below their feet. What was going on. Because that's that's where like. That's that's what that looks like when you have those uneven lies you're gonna hit those big mrs in one direction right but it doesn't I love about this is. This does not feel like we're holding on for dear life. This is not roller coaster speed of like host january and february of this year. Yeah now i feel like he's gonna hit the fairway when you stand in over a shot and if he doesn't like i feel like it's going to be close enough that he can recover and i just you replay this back. If we get to sunday night we have twenty sixteen masters all over again. But i don't feel like we're gripping onto a hope right now. This feels like a very very real thing Four birdies on the front which is the moral relating side. More than the fun side. Yeah and then on the flatter side only two birdies and one of poor three. So you know. I think there's some credence to that. I agree i'm excited. There's every reason to be excited It i think as soon as we all heard the word with saint george's where like. Oh let's be. Let's it's gotta be you know that throws bryce out the window. I think pretty much. Dj you were spot on and saying you know with rahm like a course where luck is a factor and you know kind of keeping a cool head Round did not fare so well didn't seem to have any tempur issues. I wouldn't say today but did not have a great day but Yeah it just speed checks all the boxes here. We should say. Let's let's cover most of the golf here before we get to the big golfer which. I'm sure we'll talk about for a while. Speed is not winning. Louise as is winning. Do we wanna talk about louis. Like i think that's expected thinks ed visas the favorite right now. Really like the betting favourite. Yes what is odds. Now he was plus three fifty. The last i saw lewis plus four fifty. That's what an insult to louis like. Hey man i know you you play well and finished in the top. Five of every one of these things andrew getting. We'll say louis hit only forty two percent of his forty three percent of his fairways today so could be surprising. Qb's in little black man was bogey-free today. Though louis was his quote is quote after the round was like. I made no mistakes today so like yeah it was super stress-free so that's one that number. It's so hard strokes gain data like he could. If your foot off these fairways you're not in trouble and almost can. Sometimes you can fly to better. You can get a you know a flyer of some kind. You can help you run a ball on the green or something. Take some mystery out of how it's gonna bounce I'll be honest. I missed a lot around. I didn't. I didn't wake up that early so it was it was i mean it was the highlight super stressed like super nice. Just really frigging nice. Golf like just hitting into twenty five cities. Though to climbing so speed he was he was a group behind. Speak but it was who. Who's got the most money earned in majors. It's gotta be fill a major that you haven't won most money earned louis got to be second. It'd be up there right i start. I start basis. So i'll say i would say like inflation or tiger tax adjusted. It's probably jack though. 'cause he's got yeah. Yeah you know. Seventeen or twenty runner ups. So i was looking at those thing about this because it was kind of like all right. We right louis off us. This is the one that he won. One is by a lot in two thousand ten. This major starts prior to win the open. Twenty ten cut.

"24 minutes after two o'clock in a second, I'm going to give you the first round scores from the open being played at Royal ST George. Orchestra are Corvin. Music. Monday night, 6 30 Alright scores the open Length course. Royal Saint George looked up pretty pretty pleasant this morning. One freezing cold. Yeah, It was long, long sleeve weather, but, you know, and then this afternoon Look, you know, short sleeves and sunny and not bad. All right, So, um, And this is cool. Because this is, you know, British Open. Weekend after Wimbledon ends. Lots going on Focus. You know all sports eyes are kind of Aylwin and the euro Euro Cup which didn't end all that well for England. Unfortunate but anyway, lots going on. Across the pond. All right, so the open first round is done. Obviously it's approaching what 10 30 over there. Louis used to season South African leading after the first round. The minus six. Harman is at minus five as well as Jordan Speed. And Jordan has won the open before. I think he was like early twenties. Length course. Uh, Royal Birkdale. So he likes lengths, and he plays well. The length courses. And he's one in England before So Jordan speech and minus five Stewart Cink. Minus four. You know for Italy in minus four. Herbert and to me a bear a bear and minus for Hughes at minus for Webb Simpson at minus four. Fairway Jesus. A k a Tommy Fleetwood. Minus three. Colin Arakawa, The kid from Berkeley, Cal. Minus three. Justin Rose. Minus three. And Yeah, let's see on is a minus three as well. So let's see here in the top players. You have Two Englishmen. Who know that the pressure is on for an Englishman to win. Have Justin Rosen minus three, as well as Tommy Fleetwood. Admire story. Those two individuals couldn't be more different in terms of personality. Justin very buttoned up. Not a lot of humor. And Tommy flee with just the opposite is long hair and it's kind of Oh, dockworker kind of drawl and His his. You know his his. His speech is entirely different. His attitude is. Look, um He's you know, half the time walking around the golf course He looks a little bit certainly. Which is why I like him anyway. Tommy Lee, I love Tommy Cleveland. Everybody likes Tommy Fleetwood. So he's in minus three as well. Justin rose, and they know that they know that the, uh, pressures. Oh, guess who else is that Ministry Danny Willett. Also like a Liverpool lad. Any will it add minus three Now the Paul Casey, another Englishman. Some English er, well positioned after one round. Paul KC minus two. The Englishman that most people thought had the best chance. Crawling down looking And you, boy. Oh, yeah, yeah..

"Flushed are going to penetrate through the wind. Adequately enough for me to control the distance and hit it exactly where I want to, or is he going to make adjustments and start hitting? You know six irons from 1 35 and try to keep the ball head high and just know that if it doesn't get away from him, because that's what happens over there again. The ball just gets away from you and gets in real. Forget precarious positions or you're making doubles and triples. The best players just keep the ball low and straight and just use the ground is their friends because they know they can. I think he pointed this out earlier, Tom Land of all 30 yards short of the green and know that you're going at least get the front edge and that par is going to be on your scorecard after you finish that whole, uh Tommy. It's an interesting week, because, uh, you know, a shorter course. And you know the always the potential for weather, even though right to the weather is probably not going to be bad, but you just never know who's going to win this tournament. I kind of like Brian Harmon, who's got five top tens this year. I kind of like Burger who's really good. Scrambling. Um two guys, I want to get your thoughts on one is I We always I was asking about Colin Morikawa. He's one of my favorite guys. He's such a drift Irons player in his game seems like it's made for this, but he doesn't have a lot of experience playing over there, and I'm kind of wondering how much you think that's a factor. And then the other guys. Jordan Spieth, you know who won at Royal Birkdale in 2017 and has played well at the British. Give me your thoughts on those two guys. Chances. Well, I'll see. You don't know how it popped up. I saw an image this weak of tiger in 96 his first year on tour in his swing, and I look at more Cowan now like that amazing, slow takeaway that Colin has It's very reminiscent of Tiger and his first couple years on tour before he started making some changes. I'd be curious to ask him if if that was at all you know, in his head as he started Get better at the game and come through Cal Collins. I think when we talk, blasted the U. S open, I mean, and he played great there. He just had that bad 13 toll as Tom was mentioning when we did the U. S open recap. The 13th hole really destroyed a lot of players on that Sunday and, you know, links golf. It's kind of one of those things. You either love it or you don't and if he's got the right attitude, he's got all the shots and kind of like what I was saying earlier. It's Colin Moore Cow hits the ball flush. It's going to be 10 high and and he doesn't need to worry about the green speeds over there, because they're they're very moderate. Now, these actually, ironically or some of the most challenging greens in links golf. So there will be more slopes than maybe some of the listeners are used to seeing when they watched the open, But I put Colin always as a favorite in any tournament, he competes in and speed. You know, His short game is so good, Larry and over there you can play like if you have three shots around the green at home. You've got 10 over there, and I guarantee you that Jordan's got all 10 dialed in so he can. He can be the opposite of more a cow. He could hit five greens and 18 holes and shoot one under par because he's chipping in holing bunker shots getting up and down. And making long putts, so they do it in completely different ways. But But if you told me both those guys are in the top 10 top five going into Sunday this week wouldn't surprise me at all. Before I let you go just real curious how many courses on the British Open rotation. Our public versus private. As opposed to us major championship courses. I mean, we all know Augusta is private, the U. S Open and PGA Championship. How many? How many of ours? Can you play versus like British Open Because I know you can play the old course. But I'm just curious how many how many of there's a private versus public? Yeah. So, uh, it's funny. There's like this is a good this is a good course a good example. There are quite a few people I've met through the years who are members at their You know their American citizens and their members at at sandwich at Royal ST George's. So As you point out, Tom ST Andrews is a public golf course not haven't played it in a long, long time. But the one time I did it was £20 and I cheat off at eight o'clock at night and finished in the dark. Wow and came up came up the 18th hole with my buddy pat. And it was 11 o'clock at night and and everyone was out, Um, having a drink on the 18th green and they're looking at these two idiot Americans playing golf in the dark, But there we were, So that's the ultimate public course that there are private, You know, private courses. There are ways for Americans to have letters. Written to the clubs over there and get, um access to tee times, so to speak, But the truly the one true public course it is ST Andrews. The rest of them are varying degrees of of clubs. Yeah. Got it. Okay. And then what's the winning score here? You're gonna be we're going to be you think Pretty high when I say hi, closer to even par than than 15 under and I'm just going off past history there. This is just a course that is super challenging. Um, you know, at the top of my head. I mean, Sandy Lyle want to want an open there and he was not, he might have been over par. That was you talked about being ready for the unexpected. The streaker. You know, that's not uncommon streakers at the open, but streaker came out on the 72nd hole. And Peter Jacobsen actually tackled the guy pretty famous moment. Yeah. Look that one up if you want a good laugh. You know, I mentioned Ben Curtis. You know, he was probably only a couple under par. Greg Norman shot a very famous final round 64 to win there, but they weren't going super low that week. And then the last time you know again, it was single digits. Darren Clarke. So if I just had to, you know, Project um I'm thinking somewhere between six and eight under par is a pretty good target at the end of the day again, only to par fives that always keeps the scores down. And if the wind blows kind of like Rod was saying, I've heard 25 20 to 25 every day. That that alone is enough to fire for for birdies and eagles got it, Thomas. We always appreciate coming on with us talking golf, and it's always fun chatting with you hope you're doing well. Hope family is doing well and hopefully we can do it again soon. Like wise guys always enjoyed being with you. Take care, Brother. Thanks, Tom. Thanks, Tommy. Appreciate the time and the knowledge are Giants insider Susan Slusser joining us at four. "It looks like a lynx, but it's got a different grass on it. Got a little spongy kind of grass on it, So I think you don't have the players sort of Um, you know, out of balance, and it would certainly have the commentators out of balance because it's a really difficult major to pick the winner. Yeah, I can imagine it is And as I was looking at, I sent bt the card. The yardage card that I found it on USA today or something like that. And I'm I'm looking at it, and I did the BT I couldn't play. I would I would refuse to play this course because I'm in the water if there's war everywhere. You trying to do you try to lay up? You might go in the water. You try to go long. You might go into the water. Is this going to test guys patients? Because we've seen a PGA that tends to I get there into we're gonna see guys wants a chicken and out of a lack of a better word taking it out on these par fives. Yeah, you can go. You know, you could go back and watch the highlights of the 1991 Ryder cuppers. First time. Anybody, really? We saw this golf course. And you'll see carnage everywhere If it blows, little bit, Yeah, You're going to see carnage, innit? You know. On the other hand, the wind is only predicted to be 10 15 Miles an hour and these guys are ridiculously good. And Pete Dye designed a little wiggle room off the tee because of the wind. So you know the everybody's sort of agreeing the players when you ask him what you think the winning school be. You know they're not saying five over there, saying 10 under No, you're going to see your share of birdies. But the golf course will do a great job separating the best from everybody else. So we're total Brandel Shan believe great analyst Golf Channel, of course with this year on TV and Tierney, CBS Sports radio, So before we get to speed, who's rocking it? And some of the other players. You talk about length. You have to get right to Bryce into shambo. Now, listen, if he can win it, wing foot and nobody saw that coming. He can probably win anywhere, you know, Based on the research I've done You know, he's gonna He's got a lot to think about. There's a lot of these fairways are narrow. And how aggressive can he be with the big dog? I mean, can you really let it loose all day or no? Oh, yeah, he said yesterday in an interview. I saw you just played nine holes on a plate in front. He said he was hitting driver everywhere, but one hole. That was the fourth hole he was letting go. Uh, you know, it's I think it's just kind of go off course in again. This is it so hard term it to pick the winner because you can come up with all kinds of scenarios but on paper Rise into Shambo. Is miles ahead of everybody else. It's Bryson and everybody else. If this were a race, it would be Hussein Boat versus Danny DeVito. Never seen Danny if you don't run, but I'm guessing he's not as fast as you saying both. Yeah, um That's the on paper. That's what this is because you look strokes game tee to green that encapsulate driver approach shots around the green, right. Three main metrics. Leads that Bryce into Shambo. Now the golf courses nine million miles long, who's the longest hitter by a mile price and the shambo? Then you look at strokes gained putting. There's not a single one all the way down to Rory is 13th and strokes can t degree. Inside the top 50. Except for Bryson, who's 38 again on paper? No question. The favorite is Bryce into shambo, and it's not even close on paper. You know, the one of the interesting bets. Would be doing speed because obviously he can make history by completing his complete the major completion here, and we know how he played out at Chambers Bay and also what? Royal Birkdale Where do you put him is he's not long clearly, but he seems to be diluted in at just the right time for you to try to complete this sweet. You know if he doesn't have a train wreck, you know he he wanted a place. Where I would have never guessed he wanted TP see San Antonio, Texas Open and there it is, It is simply fairway and disaster few years back. That's where Kevin ominous 16 on hold because he got off the fairway. It is fair way and disaster. And Jordan's peace has been hit it everywhere, but you know, he drove it. Okay. That week. You didn't have any big mistakes, kept it between the disaster lines and then marvelous iron player and everything else is there. I certainly you know, I'm in to pick tonight and I have to start the show. I'm gonna make a joke about how hard it is to pick It's a working show that I'm working all through the show trying to but Jordan speeds. It's certainly one of the guys that it was surprised me, not because his iron plays back the magic is back. You know, he's David Copperfield. There's only been a handful of players that I've ever seen. Have magic like this guy, and that makes for great TV. So he's certainly look if you talk to me 23 months ago, not a chance. No way, but he's Garantia. He you know if if If you had the This sort of prescience to bet on Jordan speed early in the year to win the PGA Championship. Whoever those guys are that took the bet they're nervous is how, because the odds would have been through the roof bad, and now they're through the roof. Good. Um, he's gonna be on a lot of people's picks. That's a great point s o when you talk about the magic now, connect a few generations for us, okay? Because before we got into golf, and I'm not saying that he's this player matter of fact, probably. Nobody is. I'm sorry about the great seven. But can you connect the thread Because I don't know that anybody could do this better than you. The magic of speed. And when you say magic, I'm assuming, you know, bad spots and creativity know that I mean, seven was the man he was the magician. But does Jordan speed have like to that degree? Absolutely so. Wow. Going back going back to the seventies, I would say, Watson, you know there was a thing called a Watson Park right when somebody did something ridiculous and hold a bunker shot after hitting out of bounds or whatever..

"Mm hmm. Oh, shit. Oh, God. When you put it like that, you're like you're like, Thank God. It's over. Go down. I was just thinking about the trophy and you know the recognition of you know, you're always gonna be the winner of the 2021 18 T. Pebble Beach Pro Am. I don't even think about the bread and let me tell you something. Okay, how much money you got? Losing half a million dollars. I'm gonna take a chunk out of you. Oh, that do probably hasn't slept. It was. It was quite the tournament and watching Burger had the eagle for the For the finish was it was interesting, but to me like the story was speed. I mean, the fact that this guy now Last week in the desert used top four this week. He's top for I mean, you know this guy going to get back to that where he was in 2017. I mean, because he's had kind of a little bit of a detour. We haven't It's like the public focuses on it because it's a deep field. There's other guys, but He's not been on his game since Royal Birkdale and it's just kind of makes you wonder if this is like his announcement that he's back this year. Yes, it certainly seems that way. I mean, yeah, they're showing some, uh, some of this swings. And now is, uh, I think they were saying his hand a little bit lower these rotating little bit more, and it wasn't coming in too steep on the e. I mean, it's a little too technical for me, but They said Now I didn't watch all of yesterday. I was kind of watching and not watching them that but they said he was having that can even I saw some of the fighting his drives a little bit, and I guess that was a huge issue. Before that. He was really fighting. The angle of is, uh, when he was on the tee box. He just couldn't get the driver, right? He was fighting and I guess he left a lot of him right yesterday, so I don't know, but it is good to see him back. I mean, golfs more fun. I think when he's there, because God, he was like on fire for a couple years like he was the guys whenever majors Yes, three majors and like what do 23 years and then all of a sudden, it was like poop. See you don't gone. It is they wouldn't. He wasn't there And I guess, uh, it's been his driver He just can't keep Can't get the driver control the drivers, so But I do agree the crew. It was good to see him battle and it was good to see him finish strong as well. And I just think golf is it was more interesting when when he's in, and it's a fun story to to see a guy that was, like, really good, like top of the game. Good, then all of a sudden, because remember after the third major people like Oh, man, Yeah, cos guy gonna win. Yeah, she see my windy Already saying double digits. He's already won this money and he was getting compared their view. Tiger Tiger won this money. By this age. He's won this money by this age. You like Oh, man, this guy's would be fun to watch and then just poof gone. You know, dropped like 102 100 is back to 60. So it be cool, Be cool Little story. But here's the deal, though, if speak is on his way back, and by the way, the master's not that far away, And you know, we're all excited about baseball getting started. That's great. And you know, in March Madness, fingers crossed, but the master is coming along in April after you know being played this past November, so Very short gap in between watching that tournament, But when Jordan speaketh was doing his thing Mr Johnson was still kind of searching for his game. John Graham hadn't showed up yet. Xander softly. I don't know if anybody knew who he was let alone his name Justin Thomas was unnecessarily around. John Graham. You know, as I mentioned it, just since speech was that is that is at his peak A few years ago. You've had a lot of young dudes come in, and they're playing really, really good golf right now. And you know, Brooks kept a has come and and seemingly, you know, fell off a little bit, but I don't think anybody anybody's count them out. So yeah, I'm with you guys. You know, Jordan speech was kind of, you know, a nice story You re looked at who could be the next tiger in terms of that young guy that's coming out there and turning the game on its here and winning a lot of win a lot of majors, you know, getting a lot of green jackets. But there's a lot of guys right now. Playing really, really good golf and speed is going to have to be even better than he was before. Just because of all these new guys that have come along in his Let's say, you know, major drought, Major Major championship drought. Yeah. Do you guys know why all the guys all the top guys skipped this week? I mean, there's only three of the top 20 shut up against a work program. It was some because it but it wasn't this year. But normally is he's got they got to commit to it. Maybe what I what I heard And what some of the guys I think said was, there's like four. Big tournaments in a row. I know they go to Riviera, but I'm not sure I have to take the PGA schedule and couple tonight. Yeah, A couple of guys were saying that he had to pick one like it's hard to go to all four. In a row. And this was the one they picked. Maybe is because you know whether it's one always has. But there's no you know what? No weather issues here but that I don't know that that's amazing in the act. I mean, I'd want to play spy glasses many possible times, like possibly, kid. Yeah, It's like one of the most incredible courses in the world. But I'm sure they have their competitive reasons for skipping. I'm sure of course, Of course, man. Spyglass is brutal, but just to be there were there We play with the Caddy. It's funny every time I go any thinking else. Classic speed. Put what? Okay, Great classic speed. Put still use that man bird. We saw every everything Would you think of this one classic speed, But you must have said it 10 times like OK, I guess And then finally like on 16 ago. What do you think of this was a classic speed pay You thank you's Yep, I think so. Alright. Fantastic. What Z? Let's go and see how we Yeah. Do how much did you tip him afterwards, For all of that course knowledge, but he was He was a nice guy wasn't all that helpful,.

Franco Harris just it appears to pick it up before it landed on the ground things about it I would be right because everyone says it hit a defender to the ball went backwards right but then the frame you see on TV you don't see Franco's hand so you have no idea and would you tell us the truth shout out to that colder for again the strikes I haven't seen it because I was down in the silent did he give us the pro version of Rudy accident never seen a game from the stands and by the way he said it very well casually did we believe them yeah well why not even with my real quickly let's get this last one and Tim from Connecticut what would you want to see and how would you want to hear talked about all right yeah I definitely would want to see rounder allergy take on how the home you lose value on that that said beating yes I think that was the story will it certainly was a good game well Rhonda let's see if you can go back in time speaking of that now wishes she could go back time and we'll get to that next we set of gold you will you'll just be in radio ESPN two Barbasol shaving cream America's leader for a close comfortable shave showing.

"We got your own for here on a Sunday afternoon in July open championship next week being played in Northern Ireland makes partially the second time in a hundred sixty years of that tournament that has been played in Scotland or England so guys use the regular rotation of open championship courses need to have a quick answer to this one here they are the the regular rotation is seen answers your field well Saint George's world Liverpool Troon royal Lytham St Annes royal Birkdale Turnberry and Kerr news the fruit what's your favorite in the regular rotation well by only one around the plate would be seen injures because of the history of the of the golf course but there are many great courses over there and and many in Ireland I mean real County Down rule Dornoch Lynch belly going in I mean there's there's a lot of great courses over there but if I had to pick one of the senators Jimmy same because I don't I would say the same because I don't know enough of the other golf courses to choose your dog Aug TV golf junkie like I I am not probably too busy for all that what do you say Michael out of those I think there's like eight or nine courses in regular rotation I would say probably I mean you can't argue with Sanders but I was probably say Kerr new see because I think it's the biggest challenge yep of all of them I think it's a harvest hardest one but I think royal Lytham St answer because I think that sounds pretty cool cigarette I'd I would know I've never been there but yeah I I Kerr used to would be my pick the scene enters a be a close the curtains you just because of the the the Vanderbilt thing and and and and the challenge of the last few holes are just X. extraordinarily cool fruits Steve Stricker this week decide to play champions to our major the senior Players Championship instead of going on the big tour to the John Deere classic that John Deere turn right he's a three time champion and he's kind of a rock star with regard to the organizers of that tournament do you think if if I were you would you have made that call the thinking me the right call in that that regard I definitely think you made the right call please he's won two of the three champions store Meijers already and I'm not sure if anyone is ever won three in in one season so he's got a chance to do that with two to go yet so I think you made the right call I'll tell you what I am I know he's going to give strong consideration to playing the senior open championship over in the UK because if you win that when you get into the regular open championship the following year so there's a little additional price Michael what what Stricker plainest Champions Tour major instead of a a big tour event I think you definitely made the right decision you know he's plan plan really well he feels very comfortable he likes a golf course not that he doesn't like the John Deere golf courses but very successfully there but he's not a great role and and he's chasing history so keep chasing them if you were put a T. P. C. Corson because that I have that is a good yeah it's really good it's a lot of fun I hear from others is spectacular golf course what do you say give unanimous you do you made the right call there yes give me getting ready for the reasons for that are just go go to where the majors are I mean build around something you can be confident and he knows if he goes and plays there he's comfortable lead he gets along comparatively to to other seniors I mean I think their planet or as little over sixty eight hundred yards so I think it's if it's rate as we are house he's confident he's one of these if not the best player out there he's one of the top five so why go get beat up or when you can go out there and just dominate and win a major yeah another thing I think you're absolutely right about that part of it and I think yeah I he's kind of the star of that tour at the moment it's been other guys have gone through that longer for a long time we serve the star that to our it's gonna be interesting one filter at filters fifty next June June of twenty twenty be interesting to see if he plays a low senior events because he might be able to go out there just be dominance it might be an interesting balance to see if you know plays the regular tour or I choose the place a couple of senior events I will come back and get the prediction of these PGA professionals I who's going to win the final major of this year the open championship coming up in a minute here and you start eleven thirty to realize.

"The deep Betty cabaret where we are tonight. Donald Ross sportswear and the same unit conservancy Scotty, we got a very special special segment couple of segments coming up, our friends, Nick Payton and Nathan Kelly here from pioneer off to talk about golf in England and Scotland and we walk them phone calls to at five one eight three six zero five ninety eight seven seven five nine zero five five to five fellas. Welcome back to the fifteenth Levin. How are you today? Again. Thank you having us. How have you been busy everything? Good. Yeah. It's at time of year. You know, the masters brings everybody out. And of course, the tiger winning. It's per the interest for sure so we've been busy and we've been bookies golf trips, and it's good sign of what what happens to be the most popular destination this summer, I made Saint Andrews, we know, the usual, but absolutely I made it it's always, you know, far and away number one. But from there, you can get a, you know, as far as the next destination. You're gonna have Ireland and England's been picking up spot. Larry king. That's maybe not quite as about. But the folks go there really doing joy because the history of the games second to none. Really? I was lucky enough to base accident in the right place. The other night at the ledges Goffin had dinner with Tom Watson. Wow. And we talked about his favorite places to play. In the kingdom. And he was talking about where the where the open championship will be this year in Ireland. And then we're talking about Portrush him what great holes that has. But then also to go down to the Gulf Coast of England the senior championship this year is it lifted and any so it is it is an and play a couple of times last call before the Ryder Cup, which is a real tree special. What is the golf coast when you referred to the Gulf Coast fittingly, what is that? Well, Nick might give a better answer on this. Yes. The Gulf Coast is. He's on the west coast of England. It's just north of Liverpool the closest airport is actually Manchester. So the reason we call it the Gulf Coast is it has three open venues within an hour's drive, which is quite ready. You've got Royal Liverpool where the Okinawans in twenty twenty two I believe. You've got living which we just mentioned and book day was probably the best nine Royal Birkdale, Royal dad, they'll royals sprinkled in between you have some unbelievable golf courses southbound lanes Dow hillside where the for schmaltz disease in in a couple of weeks, west Lancashire and a few others as well. He really is a golden haven. It seems like they take a second fiddle though to some of the more famous golf courses in Scotland. Yeah. Yeah. It's true. You know, I think when people want to go play in the UK for the first time Scotland these fest on the list, understandably island is, you know, some of the best looking Gulf Coast. She'll you'll save England's days of history. Log a golf courses that people be done give enough attention to the Gulf the Gulf Coast is certainly one that you want to visit at some point. And and being from England, you're very proud of your home country there, my friend just a little bit. Yeah. Well, Hoylake or Royal Liverpool of psychology. I guess where ROY one in two thousand fourteen tiger one. So and then you go back to Peter Thompson. It's got a it's got a great great history. More people do know about Birkdale, probably. Yep. But my gosh, I think arguably that may be at the smallest pocket of really good golf courses anywhere in England. Without doubt. And. I know night is to get the plenty of trips for people in the cost just on that coast, and the cool thing about it is that you can stay in one place and maybe play six seven talk, right golf courses without travelling to talk. But at the same time, you could travel inland towards Leeds and York play courses, like more town Woodley dancing. And ties if you go into northern waves within an hour of play way synthetics nethon, and you really all spoil the good looking. But talk about all, of course, a little bit. You've got some good music over there in that part of the world. There's no doubt about that. But somebody asked me one time about hotels in England. You know, what we consider a five star hotel in this country might be. What what would you? Call a five star hotel over there in the equivalent to the US is it four star three and a half. Yet say it's more along four-star range, if if that, you know, finding a pool or a gym or spa at a hotel in the areas that the golf is around his his pretty rare if non existent and self, you know, you just hope that it's good locations clean and a comfortable bed. Really? You know, it's not about the logic. Typically, it's more about the sites in the experiences. I mean. You could see a soccer or or I should say a football match, Manchester. You can do the Beatles experienced Liverpool and then play all this great golf as well. So you don't spend much time though tells but for those people who are used to travelling little bit higher end maybe want to tone down the expectations just a bit. We need to take a break when we come back. I wanna find out what the differences are between the golf courses on the Gulf Coast compared to other parts of England. And even Scotland and Ireland are very special guests from Pyner golf, Nick Peyton Mann and Nathan Kelly with this year from the deep pedicab array, I'm at Clements along with Scotty shares almost forgot your name. We're looking at. Ben Clements will be here. Next hour, the end zone club is we'll talk about the NFL draft and basketball, but we're going to have more with Nick and Nathan here. The phone numbers. It's every five weeks, they purged one of this tanks, and they get three hundred market size till Abby that they donate to a food charity. But the yield of the marijuana is, you know, fifteen thousand to twenty thousand kilos. It's unbelievable. The story. I don't understand the connection between giving the people and the marijuana. Well, it's okay. It says it's an underground facility surrounded by farmland. Filtered fish ways to fertilize the cannabis plant. Okay. That's what I need to the fish waste fish water. How'd you pick twenty eight is that a magic number for you? It's my birthday. Okay. Are you ready? Do you believe there is intelligent life on other planets? Oh, kind of skeptical about that. I mean, what they have shown themselves to us already. Well, not necessarily. Maybe they couldn't get here. Just because they're intelligent doesn't mean. They can. Get here. I mean, we're we're intelligent. We can't get there. Get there. We can't get there. I mean, I'll say, yes, I think this probably a parallel universe somewhere. I would think that so many billions of stars planets. It'd be weird if we were the only one right, exactly. So yes. So I wonder if they have a separate garden ever Jesus and everything there or whether this God and Jesus apply to all planets and. Psyched when they find out they can get ever lasting life. Another discussion. John it looks like you're gonna stay in this weekend rain in anyway. We'll say okay, very fair, the improper boss Stony of case. He goes with you all these one of these good for, but how much is the most most you made caddying. When they want on the men's till you get ten percent. You get ten percents. So I made. Like, maybe like muffing deviled fish second. I I got three grand PD checkups in the British Open. I made about a thousand caddy fluffed in wanna go over. And he was on a Kenny photographer case Jim short. But it was a great experience. Because the best thing was coming down the eighteenth hole. Appreciable Royal Birkdale of mercy site was the flags of the country and was like being in the Olympics. The last one time what's the one that? I remember looking at the Queen Mary hotel at all or in and out of the windows saying what's up with that? And they they'll bugs over there. But the furthest I've was suppose to Hawaii great troop which because. Okay. A funny story. Raymond Floyd golf ball may was real Mamie Katie for Raymond and I was carrying from a half. And we put the towels and the creek or whatever wherever they would dry out golf ball put the towel. And the creek is real name was hall. Ebay it. Tell you which way the ball break. I can make birdies at the best of them. But I've been doing to make eights and all other stuff. The biggest thing about golf eighty between years. The club's accents of your arms. Whether you're right handed, a left handed you start at six o'clock, you get it back to twelve and get it back to twelve but you don't you know, nephew who's gonna funky swing? "Obviously taken out do a lot of hoops coming up four o'clock hour. So what about thirty four eastern one Pacific? The games were either. Great or they were horrendous. Oh. Oh, wow. All right. Donald like, the raptors. I mean, they'll get I'm surprised they lost the first game. They're going to win that series. But or the nuggets gonna win Spurs on the Friday. No, I don't know. You know, there's a lot of things that have been nets with a big win there. So that I thought we both thought that would be a deep series anyway. The Sixers and six or seven let's see him beat on the phone on the bench. Clamps? Embiid is banged up. He's hurt that was one and Ben Simmons when you when you have when they play slow. Yeah. His inability to shoot is glaring. It is he's he's an athlete. He can score in transition. Transition if he's got to play in the half court. They they're not good. Is they're not gonna win. If they have to play that way. This agree. Got inbounds out of bounds. Coming up, obviously football the forties as well. But today's all about Tiger Woods Saigo. Woo. Woo. We'll get colds. I think really the two things that jump out to me and one of them. I said is know the comparisons to Jack in eighty six I get it yet. No doubt. I understand why people would say that. But I guess looking back and doing some research and knowing where he was at that place and. To me. It was really just the unexpected renaissance of a seemingly if finishing felt like a crown to put on an unbelievable career. Correct. Right. And then that was it go go to the tent whatever it was called. Then the now senior tour champion. I think it's the champion now or so go to the events by the way, but he still played by symbolic. This is your last way. Also fantastic send you out to you know, they all hit. And this doesn't feel like no, no, no Tigers. Just getting started Tigers gonna absolutely bang a few more winds into the right column. The other thing that jumps out. And I understand why we have to get to trust me. I do. But I think it's a real disservice to automatically jump to candy now catch Jack because I think when you do that, you know, we're twenty seven minutes into the show, and we we reference it because you have to, but we certainly haven't expanded on it, which eventually we might where we will. But to do that so quickly. I just feel like you really you more generalized, the accomplishment agreed to microwave let this will linger for a little bit not worrying about you. I hear you. But people want to advance the story not his forget Jack for second there. Four more three more this year. You think he wins another one this year? Do this year. This year. I do he's played at Bethpage PGA championship. In may that he's got Pebble Beach for the US open. And where's the open championship this year? I'm honestly, not sure that Royal Birkdale. We're going to look that up. Yeah. That's the one that never jumps off your head. I always say Andrews. Where we playing this year. Where is it? The rotate exactly what part of Europe. It's in diesel is going to look that up. He's got it. But he got the party. You'll moss the cell. What do you have your boss? It's in Northern Ireland still looking at the court on how people okay have a pint with my people, my people. All right. Portrush? That sounds. Let's say never heard that. They played it there before. But I can't imagine. It's the first go round the indoctrination. I'm sure they've had have they had other. Seed me a bts look at each other. Have the head other events there. I honestly haven't heard that too often sell check it out for me. You'll must sell Jimmy. What's up, buddy? You're in Virginia. How are you today? Jim. Oh, hey, how's it going actually Massachusetts? But that's an easy one. Mix up north West Virginia. That was that was United fault. Go ahead. Woods and his red outfit Sunday final grouping masters. I mean, how many people in me? I mean if. Yeah, if you go back to twenty eighteen right? The PGA championship using Mexico's capita. And then you go to the open championship in that final. Parents molin. Ari? And then we fast forward to twenty nine. Molinari again, and you look at the front nine Molinaro. It was so cold throws. I seven eight holes dry during those five to six foot. Par putts. You know what I mean? Going to be mistake free and target is going to have to make up strokes. Tiger is going to be the one to go under. Oh. Oh my God. You know what I mean? Of course, it's enticing. Twelve. Seventy seventy one, but it opened up the door for tiger. And he had a play yet to play nice down the stretch, of course. And again was just like in the PGA Capcom misses that putt on the eighteenth where tiger would have to make a par and the doors wide open for tiger. And you know, just hint seeing him walk up the eighteen th grand without ovation. And I I didn't know forever going to see that again. I hear you. And you're right. You gotta let it sink in. Because we we can't underestimate how big of a deal that says James, we're not we're stressing it, and we're really trying to avoid falling into that trap. It's easy to fall into. But I don't think we've done that. And we won't you know, it's it's about Mike Tyson right better, the falls from grace, and, you know, whether it's biting off Holyfield's ear or just turning into a raving lunatic or not being prepared a little thick and not ready for Buster, Douglas, whatever he never came back with the because the roar though BT because it's really the only sport where you can boxing. You get punched out a little bit. Forget it. It's a wrap. George Foreman notwithstanding. We took what decade offer. So for came back. But he was heavy. Just wasn't George Foreman. Yeah. That was different. I mean, it was one of three belts. So it is what it is the same thing in baseball like baseball. You're not going to have a renaissance after three or four years, and you're not gonna have that impact to keep you around. Maybe tennis. Maybe tennis had a few Jimmy Connors did pretty well. I think in his forty maybe you know, I don't want to get down the road. I'm not overly football quarterbacks. You might be able to do that. Peyton Manning is one that jumps to mind simply because of the severity of his neck injury up. We had the surgery Joe, Montana, buddy. Champion. She'll. So it's it's really it's rare that you can find this. So the example you have to champion. By the way, Royal Portrush hosted the open championship in nineteen fifty one. Okay. It's the oldest of the golf's major which is obviously the oldest championship. And it's the only one not held on the island of Great Britain. Really fifty one Gary Player or was that an already it wouldn't have been Jack in nineteen fifty one Gary Player. Let's go back and find eighty three. Gary Player for sure I mean, Jack started winning in the early sixties true. Could have been Gary Player was it. Sam snead. I don't know. I'm just throwing out names. Now, I don't know act. You know? Wow. What a. I wish that response was on TV last hosted nineteen fifty one nineteen fifty one why the weight on their folk there. Matt never heard of Max's father won his only major title in the rain two strokes of head of the runner up in Tonio, sir. I heard him either but relatively nondescript debut. Royal what ports port port rush Portrush. Nineteen fifty one Bill moss to sell with the info, they're not a huge gal fan these so you and I talked about this. When TC was out. Did you get into it? I was actually with a large group of people who weren't all golfing. All huddled around didn't take our eyes off the TV, and a few tears shed nontraditional Goffin's, I was into the human interest -sego the human interest side of it is wig catches, your Nance was was tearing up in Butler gap in you. And by the way, I know who can can the low amateur dude come on. You don't need to go back to Oklahoma state. And you know, Patrick green put the jacket on and bounce gymnast and tiger. Oh, come please, everybody else leaves history though, man history. You want to be a part of your. Say was there when I was there when I couldn't I was laughing to forget the gentleman's name the chairman of Augusta who who played there's an amateur few times himself where he c-. No, patrick. You've been such a great champion. I'm thinking did he realize that basically the entire Ryder Cup team aided? Patrick great. Yeah. Forget that Patrick rates career, but I couldn't help. But laugh at them like this poor kid. You know, what it amazing moment for him? But it was just there was incredible. I just I don't know. I don't know what what's next that's gonna come close to this. And again, Fred Ridley Ridley their y'all stripped down, you know, the Yankees with championship in ninety six. Of course. I mean, that's the way my per t- moments anything that I don't have a rooted vested in and I am it's become a tiger fan. And it's funny. If you just started listening to the show or watching us a year ago or maybe two years ago, we'll probably two years ago. You would think that tiger apologised. I was burying Tiger Woods for years burying him burying him. But I like the redemptive story, especially you want to call me a sucker for buying it on the on naive. Yeah. That's great. Okay. The power of the human spirit. I think it's real no, I hear you. But a lot of people think Tigers put on an act now. I don't believe I think. You his daddy. To get back to you know, he did not yet. I wrote him probably. Yeah. I wrote them landed last night. It was late like ten o'clock. But Joe has told me tiger. It used to be that way where he worked for tiger tiger. What he was not a good, dude. All the time. He's not that way anymore. I you know, I see it. And I think that if people don't if that's fine. If you don't like tiger again, I started this job. I'm not here to convince you, but I would challenge you as we get ready for the update here with that. I I would challenge you, you know, if you can at least acknowledge that that somebody's seemingly, and I believe in sodas, my partner really completely changed their life the way, they treat people where they interact with people the way, they just the way they do they live if you can't buy that. Then I kind of feel sorry for you kind of do people involved you're going to have a bad day. And you're don't want some people to believe that you can change. And you know, they might not be there to believe that for you eight five five two one two. Forty-two twenty-seven inbounds out of bounds after rack coop. Stop the our more.

"Darrell Moody inside the Arnold Palmer experience there at Bay Hill and Darryl. This is the what the second tournament since the great on Palmer past still a. Huge tournament on tour. But without the king his absences definitely felt out there. Dallas about this Arnold Palmer, experienced Daryl. Well, I think that's the goal of this all new interactive exhibit here at the hill. It's the Arnold Palmer experience for those who are unfamiliar with the king and his legacy, and what he left on golf and the impact he made this kind of gives you a hands on approach to see what he actually accomplished over the terms of over the time of his career. You've got all seven of the trophies from his seven major wins. He's got to claret jugs here from the open championship the US open trophy four commemorative trophies from the his master's victories and sixties, and it all starts off with a with a six minute film talking about his life and his career in this really cool dome type theater, and then that leads you into the experience, and and what I say hands on they've got five different days here where you can actually attempt to recreate some of the more infamous shots of auto Palmer's career, including the infamous drive at the number one. Cherry hills where he wanted to sixty one US open the escape shock from the sixteenth at Royal Birkdale. And of course, shop at many folks here in Orlando familiar with from the two thousand four Bay Hill his last time playing the tournament that he host at the age of sixty four he actually made it onto the green from the fairway hitting a driver off the deck. You're at number eighteen. Yeah. Was there on that day of memorable day? Such a great, man. I've had the opportunity to interview him several times Daryl, and he really is a man who brought golf to the masses back in the day. What about this tournament? It comes a little bit early this year because the PGA tour schedule has kind of shifted some leading to the Arnold Palmer invitational coming a few weeks earlier than normal. So that will happen and Tiger Woods is back to win. His ninth knife championship there at Bay Hill. Say it ain't so Darryl. And they've got twenty eight of the top fifty golfers in the world you're in the field. So it really top-flight field. Golfers are competing for this tournament. You mentioned Mr. palm. Presence. Readily felt here. I mean, there are his obviously this being his resort and golf course. But I mean his personal touches are evident all over the tournament grounds. Absolutely, Daryl great job. Enjoy your time out there at Bay Hill to pro-am event going on today and Wednesday the tournament gets underway Thursday Thursday through Sunday. Always a great time twelve twelve. "Up at survived incredible. So speaking of the open year management, it's going back to Ireland for the first time in a very long time this year, Royal Portrush, you know, that course, incredibly. How important is that to an Irishman? And and kind of what can we expect it wrote a porch roof because a lot of people don't know anything about. Well. I think the open going back. There is huge. You know, northern around us as I'm sure a lot of people know who have very checkered history with everything that was going on with all the troubles and stuff. You know, if you're if you're to tell me, ask me as young mind. Do you think the open championship will ever come back here again of of a sort of laugh at you and said don't ship it going get more medication there, whatever because there's nothing about chancellor was come on back on? And then when it got a nine it was huge and to get back there again unroll port. Russia's is a high coke classic design. It's been somewhat upgraded. Well, husband upgraded by Martin from the Arna to new holes. Few new grains, UT's you bunkers, excuse me. Just everything upgraded to to enhance it. Make it even better for the open championship. I think the Gulf course closest one to it would be a Royal Birkdale. Okay. In terms of the fairways. The fairways at rope washer are pretty flat. They're not one like all the ones like roles and Georgia's were you had done in the middle of the fairway. You don't know what to walk in the right? Rough for the laugher off port. Russia's is is pretty level on. It's just a really fair golf course. You mean, you can you can hit the bowl six foot off the ground all the way run report rushing. Get around the golf course you six six foot high is not like other places where you've gotta hit the ball up up over minds and all sorts of stuff port. Everything's in. Frontier. The golf courses very very fair. It is not going to be a bombers paradise. Because of the guys the port report ashes set in amongst Junes and all sorts of stuff. So you know, you'll have a little bit of rough. You'll have maybe ten yards fifteen yards rough. And then after that Europe, and the Sanjiv and everything so the guys that just go wing bomb up. They'll have a very short week of the bubbas, not good. It's not gonna work around robot or she will not get away with anything. So you know, accuracy is going to be one of those premiums at Royal Portrush, golf course, any Gulf course, that's links defenses in the wind if the wind blows it'll be a very stern test for them and root for the wind. Go. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. It's definitely possible at that time of the year. She could get anything you could afford it. You gotta born day of every season in arts to that stage. But you know, the wind wind is the defense, and we will say, but but everybody's excited about I mean, it says huge economically shoes for for an Orlando. Bring one hundred and twenty million pounds into the local area, huge for northern choose for all of Ireland, and you know, the interest since it was a the interest as has grown and grown alone because you can see how much busier role portion of actually getting right? So we have you know, all of our listeners. A lot of them are very avid golfer and always trying to book trips understand in in learn formation about where they should go. What they should do if someone's booking a trip to go golfing Ireland border a couple must plays and like where where should they go? Well, your most players the top three, and our would be whatever order you want to put them in Royal Portrush ROY portion Royal Prussia. But b roll port rush. Raw tonight. Import monarch I'd say would be your top three. I dare man is been recently really upgraded by GOP McNally's. He's incredible job done there. But that's more parkland golf courses. It's a one that the should said the hotels amazing as well down there in the golf courses incredible. But for the ones wanting to play links, obviously there was three just said, they're fantastic. There's another one Bali lifting which is up in Donegal, which is which is bringing. We've got Lynch where we were planning is open. This year got dune bag. Where it's a show the so many there as if you gonna go and play wanna play links wherever you go and play is going to be pretty okay now, you're making me want to just put in a trip. I don't understand these people that trek some play thirty six holes at I don't actually get up. I could not what why are you played thirty six dollars a day. They'll go. Oh, no. No. No. No, no. That definitely not thirty six holds a day. So thirty six holes that means you're up first thing in the Gulf of slow. So you play it teeny in quick food. You drive to you next base or whatever. So they have in the evening, but the time you have Sixers up nine ninety Guinness or whatever. And then you got the badly it and you're up the next morning plant thirty six day on. No, no, no, no it teen hoses. Plenty for anybody. Look, it's a battle. I will tell you what. Yes. Yes. S an insurance you recommend you should you should play tied-in than soak it eighteen thirty six fifteen thirty six fifteen thirty sexy, whatever enjoy the place as well because you'll find when you go down the Irish people are very the very welcoming people come leading people on, you know, on their like, especially especially with Americans because there's so many Irish Americans except right Americans are made so welcome whatever the goal to Ireland. And a lot of the guys, you know, the the golden these trips the buses roll into the golf courses to go play on that leaving there on the next place. You gotta experience a little bit of the culture and a little bit of the little bit of the from as

"Because Kenny Perry one. And he elected not to go to the British Open. So I'm like, all right. Well, I'll go, and I want a scorecard playoff with Brad Anna modest because I had the lowest score on Sunday. I guess I my score was better than it. So I got to go the British Open, and he was pissed because he's like, well, you didn't even try to qualify like. Well, I I don't make the rules. But I just happened to have my passport in my in my briefcase, which I never traveled with my pastor you happen to have it. And I got to go on that airplane that was sitting outside my window straight to the British Open. I had no clothes. I had. I had nothing. I was not prepared to go to the British show. We're was the Royal Birkdale the Greg Norman one or no the year the Greg Norman played real-world Padraig Harrington Harrington one. List of Garcia, Mr. pot or something like that. They always showed that one last year after he won the math. Yeah. Maybe. But anyway, it was crazy. You know? And then my kids are all there. My wife, and they had to get we're like going to go on vacation. Actually, they had to get in card and drive back home. You know, and I got on there. And my caddie didn't have his his passport. So you didn't get to go. So the that was that was how many majors did you plan? Think I played in five okay and three US opens. And then. Actually for. I I say that I played in a PGA championship. I was exempt for the one that Sean MC L one in in Rochester. But I had back problems and I had to withdraw. Okay hot. What's the best? You've done in a major. Know Birkdale, actually, British Open. I played really well there. I think I finished like thirtieth, but it should have been better. And then I played well at Olympia fields in in Chicago way the year that Jim furic one gush. Oh, the US four three. Or is that what it was? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I remember like some adult star ran out in the ropes, and these are the kinds of things that I remember. But I do remember it was on the seventy second hole. So so now you played in the US Senior Open. Yep. Last year you had to qualify for two years ago. And sorry Salem at in Boston. And what was that experience like that get the fire going? It did it did. And it didn't you know? I didn't play great. You know, traveling to Boston was, you know, we had think we had three hotel room two or three hotel rooms, you know, is just the logistics of it. You know, it just brought back the memories of the logistics of traveling which are just like, you know, and I'm I'm I guess I'm kind of tight, you know, I I'm I want things to work the right way. And it was just it. I can put you on 'til. Yeah. Yeah. You know? Because I'm I'm there trying to you know, and then I didn't play. Well. So again, I can always come up with us. You know? Well, these guys now it's like when they played Belle Reeve. You know, I mean, they're getting the renting houses. Oh, I know. I know I know it's not everybody. I'm talking about like the top twenty or so players in the world. And then a lot of these guys are like young guys, and they turned it into like the frat house. That's the story that I I wanted to tell, you know, Brooks KEPCO, you know, getting back to the logistics of the inside at Bill reef. I mean Brooks Cup could never even went into the eating room. You know because he's got a chef. He was eating. He was eating breakfast and lunch and dinner at the rented house and him in Dustin Johnson, we're working out at like the golds in like, Maryland heights. You know, people would see him in the morning, and they recognized Dustin Johnson, but they didn't recognize go which was funny. The two time, you know, and so the logistics of playing professional golf, I mean, if you you gotta do it the right way because if you're not someone else's I promise you, and when you say the right way, or I go, oh that means you're just like a range rat. But what else is there that you wouldn't unique? You can't be worried about the financial implication of how you're playing you just can't because you know, Brooks KEPCO wasn't thinking that you know, he was thinking of winning trophies. And tiger is not thinking about financial part of he's thinking of how many trophies can I win, you know? So the financial aspect is. You know, can't be something that you're concerned with and that's something that I was for most of my career if not all of it and then. You have to travel the right way, you know, I probably travelled for five times private and most of those guys are doing that now and then take so much of the stress out of now. But you gotta get to a certain level to be able to do that. You know, most of the top players. That's the way. They're oh. Absolutely. Absolutely. And it seems like they're all flying together. I guess. Yeah. The younger guys. Yeah. What about the working out because like McElroy caught caught a lot of hell for that? Like, I've see videos of dead lifting like four hundred pounds. And you know, he's about my size. I'm not sure why he's really doing that. I don't think it really helps his golf. I mean, it's far enough. He's not gonna hit it. Right. I don't know what that's about. What do you think on that? Like, whether it be yoga, whether it be Gylys, something, right? You gotta do Cy. There's no question that, you know, if you watch golf today, you don't see many guys that are out of shape. Yeah. You just you just don't see it. Yeah. It's so rare. It's like Duffner is kind of like a hero to the every man. Yeah. Because he is like the one dude, you know, and, you know, Tim herons a buddy of mine, you know. But you just don't see lumpy. You don't see guys like lumpy out there guys? Like kept guy Johnson. I mean, it looks like you could play for the bears. Yeah. Like, you know, real like he came walking off the rains was sitting there with McKenna's. And I'm just like this, dude, you know, and Gary woodland, I don't know if you. He was he was in the group of tiger on Sunday. And with just like the lowest of trajectory. Right. I mean, just like, you know, in that benefit somebody's dealing with wins. He's going to put in you know, golf has become an athletic game, certainly which which is good, you know, but I don't know getting back to your question. I don't know Rory needs to be out there dead lead lifting power. I mean, let's put it this way. He's not gonna be able to do that for much longer. He's going to hurt himself. Yeah. You know, what is your appetite right now personally to play like I can't wait to get to floor in play. And I'll be like fired up if I break eighty you know, I mean what what is your appetite like the when you're sitting in St Louis, and it looks like this and people are excited when it's fifty five degrees. I've I've tried to really.
