"On trade with could we should probably delete all of this by the laws of the podcast. God's we owe answer rabbi with Oh line alo- rapid stance you're listening to owning the highline rabbi read minds net brought to you by yourself see and roughnecks art of game it is tuesday march sixteen twenty on behalf of myself or smith jeff larentowicz all either ause lewis foster happy saint patrick's day all those who are celebrating before to later this week double fisting shamrock shakes guinness. Got a truncated show this week. Mark and i warn you report on monday or friday respectively. I wander i rapids. Playing scrimmages. Earlier day against portland and phoenix. Rising respectfully was really feeling while this weeks of the night off. And obviously i have ethnic heritage obligations on the seventeenth of march so report. Monday or friday. Tuesday and wednesday get together. Fulton her court on thursday. At that point your this friday and dropping off friday might as well not sweet so be a solo pot in the first half from. We'll talk about those brackets was able to view so blame. Those for you. Later aren't episode will be hearing from all vase an michael edwards rapids. But first let's get to scrooges at hand earlier. Today the arachnids played to forty five minutes. Scrimmages the first one was against portland timbers see and the second was against phoenix rising of us championship. We got a bunch of details on this folk dropped by the colorado website in preseason means of years pass normally. Don't get a whole lot of information sometimes. There isn't even schedule. If you do get a scrooge all year is that the game was action played. We won't get in your highlights to get a lineup formation. Much less for each will get a final score game. We maybe for lucky beyond that will get goalscorers with them. We won't get full lineup so we actually have full lineups as wilson commentary. The rapids Seeing you know four to five minute highlight reels of game actually played but in any case the starting eleven for the rapids in game against timbers. Were a rodriguez goal a backline. The it can roseberry lawless. Lucar danielson instrument beta shirt and midfielder. Was jack price. Kosta is not only the front i presume. Needless benazir michael farias. Michael varos scored the first goal game in eighteen. Minute really good. Law from getting wilson rapid seat. Start the positively leading up to that And they scored their second bolster the two nil victory in one half in forty seven min linka play dinning. Today wilson units nominally nicholas venezia and then shishiku sound process of to see helen getting an eye for goal early on in the season. And that's all she wrote. That was the game. Two nil to be all around rapids. Then in the second game against phoenix. Rising andre rawls engulf. Allow backline jerry. Kelly courtney four 's aw drew more and special anderson than it was con- warner all in the roz and nicholas matt hummy daring yappy. Add it or ray scorning front. I would presume listeners. We can definitely read into players. Who played against the point with the other stars from this past year relative to players who are playing played in second scrimmage against us. Lt will other players who were bench players last year. Certainly this is an indication that drew more or call warner will be playing regularly league this season but this early indication of where the depth chart in terms of robin frazier's slection any case was another to no victory for all out rapids. First goal was scored by on the ross in each twelfth. Minute looks like roses pressing hard. He steals it in the box and slots at home and gets hype raised from head coach. Robin frazier bench in the second goal. couple minutes later in the twenty in the twenty. Second minute on fashion anderson setting up yuppie than five Homey heathen scores off of e hosts a really good shot there on substitutions. A michael edwardsville Coming in for four especially anderson respectively on my jaka also came in the game as well so lots units for a lot of different players on good moments from some young guns as well and ultimately to positive results. I don't normally take a lot away from these. Preseason games off like i said before. Everybody's increase informed the so figuring things out old nightly you know when he gave the preseason doesn't help you in terms of the actual tables but for a preseason game two preseason scrimmages to half's where normally we don't get a whole lot of details that he tells you i'm seeing both in the scoreline. How teams play. I'm struggling to find negatives about colorado rapids. I'm seeing michael barrels. Who is you the team. Getting a goal. I'm seeing play that little four asset. And i've seen some good moments from the young players in all. Ross getting a goal as well. In the second scrimmage against a quality opponent so definitely in terms of anything that happens so far in preseason folks or anything that happens the rest of the way while the tease in tucson you know take everything with a grain of salt or rather a healthy forefinger pinch of it but from what little we end wing from this from you know a game wholesome Off to start season. Lots of really really positives. And that's really encouraging. We're seeing those positives. As i said you know from players at the from players who were starting last year. Can you expect to be a big part and some of the players who maybe you're still fighting for. We're going to be i see. Am i going to switch switchback or something else so I don't know if everything's coming up mill house but at least from from i two scrimmages and the early returns for preseason. It's hard for me to say that things are going. Bat for these are going bad for the rapids. These not as bad as they've gone from a house in some episodes of simpson's so that's good to hear or the most art if there were any bad things to take out of these scrimmages. It's not so much scrimmage themselves rather than who will missing rapids announced. The were upload players were unavailable for scrimmages. I all four players were on international duty for olympic qualifiers. Were not available for selection. So i would presume than that means that whatever warranty or getting reacclimated who team between over bassett and also trustee twenty nine swab for qualifying. They haven't yet re integrated into the team to partake. Friendly's obviously sam vines johnny lewis who is still in guadalajara getting set to play host rica. This thursday in the first game of group stage for also available in the rapids announced. There were a couple injuries. Brian go von was out on the Number one number goalkeepers infant irwin and we yarborough were unavailable. As was striker diego. Repeal the club for comment on. He said that you know they're dealing with various things between the players on. It's nothing serious. Nothing long-term so it would read into those guys. Missing the first scrimmages of the season and therefore vr bailable for star season. That is not the case. I would anticipate though we're getting back into training in the not too distant future coming up for colorado rapids. We having all their next of preseason scrimmage on the twentieth of march that is saturday announced it and yes it is saturday on and then on march twenty seven taking new mexico united as well so pretty much from then on out there playing every week to every couple some including have three games in eight days from april third april tenth to close out their time in tucson. It'll be a part of the visit. Tucson and son cop replying label third ourselves will be playing on the l. galaxy on april seventh and closing out that The second game against feeding phoenix license. Sue us. We get off from the friendly against sporting kansas city later this week and then obviously next will be looking at mexico united. I would assume by the time we get there Ov- acid awesome. Trustee will be reintegrated into the squad. And then we'll see what happens in terms of those injured players while not partaking in those who friends or any of to saw the visit tucson son. Let's move on to a couple of the interviews that i did on. We'll be starting first with all the ross. I talk about some of the that he has had outside of the colorado rapids. Being you know. I would say one of the most this is gonna sound weird but purist rapids homegrown in that. He was one of the first editions to the rapids academy. He was there pretty much from the first year that the da was in existence. And now it's come to fruition in the form of him joining the colorado rapids and then michael edwards whose con done more of a. They're back again from growing up in virginia being a part of the d. c. academy having an interesting experience in the wolfsberg academy with wolfsburg eighteen in the fourth division in germany the regionally nor so to really good conversations to really good interviews where we get to know the players get another asan they could bring to. The rap isn't what their goals are for. The twenty twenty one season will be starting with all the ause where i start the interview by telling him that i am ginger. And wishing him a happy saint patrick's day rescind fabric house. Preseason going so far you know. Are you getting along with the team. And have you made any new friends from some of the other first team players preaching going well Kind of is expected difficult tiring but you know really good learning experience and then as far as new friends go. Yeah i mean pretty much all of them really cool team and and there's really all only good characters on this team so you know you turn a corner and you need a new guys. It's really interesting and helpful There's a lot of really strong veterans particularly at the midfield position. We talk about jack price. Who is the captain. Last year and kelvin cole. Who've started to get into the national team you know have you developed any sort of mentor relationships. Is anybody really taking you under your wing to help you show the ropes. All those people you mentioned As well as like unison armley it really helps me with attacking scenarios and just you know. He's a great guy to watch because he does things that you don't see but definitely jack prices. Well i mean he's such a professional everything he does and and the way he handled situations on the field so i guess and try to kind of be his under study and kind of see what he does and why he does it and things like that so it's been a good experience in terms of rapids homegrown. Recently you're one of the longer tenured. Youth players remember colin. Sam we're at other clubs in the front range and then joined the rapids as teenagers. You were. I think nine or ten years old when you join the club. What do you remember about joining the club. And you know does that journey feel like it's come full circle and you now being a pro with the rapids started pretty much when the academy started from my age. 'cause i'm only like ten minutes from the stadium my entire life. That's where i live so yeah just for to you know start there ten years ago from now and then finally come full circle and to be involved in the first team in the group that i watch for so long as it's special you know it makes it definitely a little bit more special to me. I remember coal now. Granted he signed with the club. I think in june or july so it was in mid season so that was kind of weird timing but he mentioned how it took a couple months for it to like feel normal and then settle in and kind of get grounded. Does it is. It's starting to feel normal. Say ali the roz professional soccer player for the colorado rapids. Or is the kind of new shine. Still giving you a bit of a buzz is definitely still have been with you guys for a little while. Now it's you still don't really realize it until certain things happen. People recognize you. See yourself somewhere. You're just like man. That's crazy that i'm actually in that position. Now i'm definitely a little bit In disbelief. I wanna talk about your time in germany at deuce berg. I hope i'm pronouncing that correctly. I know your time might have been a disappointment in that. You didn't get a first team contract but you were a teenager. Living in another country speaking another language in experiencing different environment to the rapids that i have to imagine helped you grow as a player. How did your time in germany. You know change and help you as a person and a professional. Yeah more than anything i did. It did just kind of get out of my comfort zone. Because i've been in same situation for so long and i felt like in order to grow and he did that And it definitely was. you know. there's some difficult time to learn how to live by myself and make decisions for myself and in the long run. I'm really glad. I did it. Because i think when i came back from that I was better as a person off the field and and a little bit tougher on the field as well. So i improved on areas of my game that i wouldn't have been able to if i hadn't test myself in and out of my comfort zone. How's your german. And have you spoken. Thought michael edwards yet locate. I've lost Quite a bit of now. I know we usually conversion english. More comfortable absolutely okay. Similarly i wanna know about your time at barcelona academy in arizona. What was that like. And how would you rate yourself Compared to the rest of the team in terms of five to rondo definitely a great experience. i went there and i wouldn't really know what to expect but immediately it was an extremely high level of professionalism especially from a youth academy and the way that the players handle themselves in the organization altogether Which was really nice. Unfortunately it was cut short for me because of an injury and just because of covid but yeah they placing good soccer and and the five g to rondo was was quite quick. Good stuff. I want to know about your style of play. Obviously you would have been watching the rapids in the heyday of midfielders. When it came to the latter part of pablo mastroeni career. Sam cronin jeff larentowicz and then obviously the first team players now. Is there a player. Either who you watched in the past or you watch right now picked anybody from mls or the national team europe who you watch and you see a lot of yourself in or that you try to emulate help you grow and that's a good question. I try and kind of go after roy. Frank young these midfield. There's that are both good attacking and and defensively. I'd say more so almost franken young when he's getting a little bit more of an attacking position. 'cause i like to do both sides of the game and still get into the attack so i think he's a really good example of how to control the game and be a smart player. I've had this. I've had this conversation with kohl a couple of times. Kind of his role within the team has evolved. So i'm not gonna hold you to this at all. But i think it's a fun little starting off point. You know in that regard to your point. Do you see yourself more as a number eight in the three man midfield kind of tennis player. And then you mentioned You know having a relationship with jack price. Who's more of a who is the closest thing to a number six and obviously a very active versatile midfield robin frazier's trying to play this year. Yeah i mean. I could see myself in all three of those positions six eight ten and and to be completely honest. I don't really have a preference as to which one i go to especially like you said in the midfield that we run. It's very fluid and you get into situations if you're the six where you might be in the ten position and vice versa. So yeah it's hard to say but wherever the opportunity kind comes up. I'll be willing to go into that position. Is that versatility. Is that almost something. Is that something that you feel comfortable with. Yeah definitely i think sometime bring to the to the table and something. I'm gonna continue to work on because it gets you opportunities you know. Sometimes people are so strict to their abilities and their skill set that they can't really switch around positions. But you know if you can do that and you can bring that side to the game. Then we'll get more opportunities last big question for me ali. I wanna know. I know the clubs is going to start making decisions about loans and where players are going to be next. Couple of weeks in the clubs. Club's been very open at least in the past with other youth players of maybe you know. The guy doesn't need a lot of playing time but he just needs to be around. The i team in training with the first team to get comfortable other players have gone to the springs and other players have been loaned out to other teams fit them better in the case of that year. Or in that moment. What's your goal for this season. What does success look like for. Ollie the roz and twenty twenty one My goal for the season would definitely be Staying involved in with our i. I think it's something. I can achieve something that i want but at the same time you know getting out to uso club or or just being of a practice for in this situation you're gonna learn a lot especially with the guys that we have involved you know. They're they're going to help you no matter what so. I think no matter what the situation looks like. It'll be a pretty successful year. All thank you very much for your time. Good luck with the rest of preseason. I look forward to watching you play and hopefully making rapids debut at dsp this year. Appreciate it thanks for having me welcome in colorado rapids football fan. I thank you was my german. Okay or was it pretty bad. We're gonna say. I was german. But i didn't catch onto that. We had a good laugh. Their first of all. Do you prefer michael or mike. Either one is fine. Either one's fine. Okay how's it. Preseason going how are you doing getting along with your new teammates coaching staff. Yeah she's doing really well I weekly we got rolling. Pretty quickly Today's Leading up to the matches started to slow down a bit lighting load But i feel good. I feel like Getting along with the group Fit in well. I feel like Everybody's been really welcoming and making making me feel comfortable as a new guy. So you're getting the start has has has been going really well. Good stuff Were you involved in any of the scrimmages today. And if so how did that go Yes so Actually split Minutes with courtney ford and the match against phoenix That went well Good good squad. We one two zero but No that wouldn't that went really well. It's good to be my first minute on crew season and hopefully get more. There's a few players on the team with a wealth of experience and character that you could learn from it drew more wanted. Mls cup with the rapids here in two thousand ten And then your new head coach. Robin frazier is widely regarded as one of the best backs in league. History as a young player. How you felt so far getting to be a sponge around those two in some of the other veterans on the team. yeah Then good learning learning from these guys. I know it hasn't been that long. But i take it in a lot from drew A lot from danny allies No those guys are taught me a lot so far in this short amount of time There's a lot of time with them. So i can't with he learned from them But yeah just in these in these two three weeks alone. I've learned a lot from those guys. I'm curious about your time in germany. What's the wolfsberg academy and second team like And how did that time help you grow as a player in his person so my timing was really good. That went really well. start at under nineteen level Gay competitive valid very competitive. We had a very good team Made it to the under nineteen german national semifinal game. We lost a stick art But that was a really good year for meals able to break in with her in preseason spend about i'd say five reuss in preseason then i went up with the twenty three's from the under nineteen's played matches with them throughout the year Chain with them for the majority the amount of time But yeah my my using germany. We're really good. A lot of learning different style A new culture so that was that was that was really good. And i have to imagine no even though being at twenty years old some of the other players who recently signed with the rapids. You know they've been a part of the rapids academy most of them haven't been if they've traveled outside of the state or abroad. It's been four soccer related things. I have to imagine young teenager going over to a new country learning a new language. That helped you grow as a person and maybe be a little bit more will worldly and have a better perspective. Both that helps both on and off the field for sure I didn't realize it was gonna be the it off the When i left A good challenge for me. You know. I didn't only grow on the field while is there. But i also grew off the field Living on my own. Having to take care of this i got a dog having to take care of him on my own. No told me a lot Just how it is to be on your own without your family. Friends always around was good. So i have to warn you mike rapids fans and rapids twitter super obsessed with players and their dogs. What's the dog's breed. What's the dog's name. Is she here with you now are going to be with you in colorado So mom actually bringing him. She's gonna drive him to colorado at the end of this preseason. Jinnah drive him American bully and he is. His name is kodak like a brindle color. Good stuff and i guess you'll be pleased to know though you wouldn't have been here This past election. Denver actually voted to end the Ban on certain breeds including bulldogs as well so like for him. not you know don't hashtag. Don't bully my read but getting back to soccer prior to wolfsburg on you were with the dc united academy. What prompted both in the timing and the decision to go to germany. As opposed to staying with dc or maybe other opportunities that might have been on the table. no i mean i could have stuck around in dc or take the college route which my parents at first. They really wanted me to. They want me to go to college and start my degree and maybe just go for a year and then then try and go pro But i wanted to take that take that challenge on going to europe and seeing what that would be like In college. This is. Because i knew i could always go to college a little bit later. so yeah just. I decided to make that make that. Jump over to europe I i was there for two and a half years. It went really well. No regrets The match colorado. I'm here. I'm excited to be here And now i can start my degree online and then go to school. So that's that's how that one but stuff people like to compare to other leagues in europe but when it comes to comparing you know the not first division in a country to molest the only one that really comes up is england. Most times often comparing. Mls to the championship. A lot of people in american soccer don't have a good understanding of lower divisions in germany. I'd include myself in that. What's the regional league nord like from a quality and style of play wise It was it was good Very very calm physical Big guys big strong fast Order guys When you look at like the the smaller clubs that's when you come across the really big and strong and just competitive grown men really. And then you look at like the hamburg's in the vertebrae the wolves fares and then you have younger guys. So they're more developing and in the thing brought out from like nineteen twenty three so you look at those teams and you see smaller guys but is who are really been technically technically and tactically and and things like that. They're not always the biggest strong the fastest but they're their quality players We're we're going up against grown men who are really big strong and fast and then the smaller in the smaller clubs when you face so smaller clubs in oregon elitist stuff last question here for you mike. What are your goals for the season. What does success look like for you in two thousand twenty one My goals are to learn as much as i can Not only from the guys in my position but Guys all on the team in every position Hopefully make my debut super excited for that moment Give minutes under my belt. And just like i said a absorb as much as i can and learn as much as i can from the guys around me. Because he doesn't believe for a long time a lot of them so learning continuing to develop Debut and and just working hard and seeing what can happen mike. Thank you very much for your time. Good luck with the rest of the preseason a look forward to watching you make your rapids debut this year thing grabbing a a rapids fans. All of our episodes we have tons of different episodes and give us a five star rating or thumbs up in whatever platform. You're listening whether it's Youtube Apple podcasts. spotify all these great things remember take a look at all that stuff and remember visit. Bunny ranch dot com slash forums for more to get more indepth with actually the ladies. Now who do I have. Hey James on Austin Hayes awesome. Hey I'm destiny's look at that perfect now where you both from. Well I mean I know. But they don't is that where you're from are you from the leverage. We're both from the love from love ranch. North North Love ranch all right. Love Ranch is a fun place right yes always. Oh it's awesome. Yeah I love it I mean I love love ranch make make sense right yeah. We're all lovers. They're exactly originally. I'm from California and I'm originally from Detroit. Perfect from California. I've lived in Nevada most my so but mainly what exactly is it like the leverage like what what is a day like the love ranch like from the moment you get up and you hear the bell because you guys have a different bell than other ranches do okay. Each ranch has different things. So sage rushing kit Kat to give listeners and viewers are actually a little in-depth here sagebrush and Kit Kat actually have integrations and bells so kick it actually has a bell too but sagebrush has a full intercom intercom system for all the rooms that they go company Bunny Ranch Love Ranch have bells and they're two different types of bells altogether. So what walk. Walk me through exactly when that Bell rings like for the lineup. Bill what exactly would what goes through your mind in your room or in the parlor or in the kitchen. Wherever you're at Yeah Oh describing me like what what what happens? What exactly is going on? Yeah I lineup we. Our schedules are staggered. So that you can walk in at love ranch north anytime day or night and there's going to be a lineup of beautiful women so you know my schedule these right now is Ten Am to ten PM. Then on the weekends I go until midnight and basically by the time my shift starts. I'm ready you know I might be fussing with my hair a little bit which is basically a three hour attempt every day. I mean you can see. It's up right now but So by the time that goes off and I'm on shift you know I'm ready and One of the gals that I work with Livia. She's just like you know. You gotTa have a a positive mental attitude before you even stop out the door and you can see it in all the girls that work there too. And that's the little tip that was given for working at love ranch. North have a positive the mental attitude before you even step out your door when you hear that bell rang and so the bell goes often on just like okay. Let's go get this at throw. My shoes I'm because I do like take my shoes off. If I'm in my room you know put my slip these on a little bit and so I throw my shoes on and I walked down the hall and we we you know we have it. Love ranch north. We have a beautiful long hallway and which I think is kind of magical maze. It does. It's it's it's really nice and so you're walking on that hallway and you're kind of you know mentally preparing yourself yourself. You know who's going to be there you know. Am I ready. And then you know you you turn and you walk up to the parlor and there's the steps and you walk up the steps and that's kind of like really preparing yourself and it's always kind of neat when you walk out there because you see other Gal's already standing there and you're just like okay. It's time to jump on the team you know and you you start out there and you stand next to the other girls now. I'm GonNa tell you right now when I I did this I was really nervous. So if there's any people out there you know nervous about coming to the broncos. It's the first first time I'm going to tell you I was nervous in lineup. All right so it's okay. You know you can mean nervous. It's it's happened but you know I'm okay now. Fortunately so so now I go out there and I really enjoy it and so you know you stand there and you see next to your sisters and and and then the the the The Gal who brings the bell you once. We're all there then. She tells the the individual who's there that each of the ladies. Who's going to introduce themselves if there's if there's Around four or less we just stay in line however if there's five or more. We do the carousel which is unique. Actually love ranch. No other ranches actually move really. Everyone else is is the only house that does it and I feel like when we do the Cara so I feel like I'm in the runway. It is it's like like you're center stage. That's our moment to shine. Yes and I actually like it because guys get to see the front and the bad and the side and and I've done fashion shows. I've put on fashion show so I don't mind it at all. I love him but destiny real quick though. What do you wear to lineup like? Do you come out in a bathrobe and curlers in your hair. I mean you said you get ready but what are you well. Our listeners. Don't know what to expect. Are you walking around naked all today. 'cause I mean now actually that was a communist this way in brothels walking around Nagin earlier is against all of our our rules you have to wear underwear to underwear no see through clothes all this crazy stuff because we're what classy classy yeah absolutely classic star. She's doing things Komo has just stuck on. So what you wear. How about? We would explain. Explain both of you. Let's start with destiny. But what exactly do you wear when you come out to lineup though okay. So I'm explaining. I have came out in lineup before actually numerous times with the towel on along with my house shoes and towel on my head because I had just got out the shower and I got picked. I come out like like that as long as you cover yourself and everything like that. You're fine as long as you. Make your lineups. You're good but what I like to come out as in is like wearing skirts dresses. This nice hills. We don't really do leggings and stuff like that because we like to keep it very elegant and very very classy Sometimes you know there's girls have every girl has to own taste in clothing. Some girl comes out you know with crop tops. Like I'm a COP. Top type of person which skirts hurt hills and some girls will come out in lingerie item really do a laundry like for example. Austin she comes out in like you know what she has on right now like you know elegantly and stuff like that but it just really also depends on the girls you know. Every girl has their own unique way of dressing racing like my hair is always the same straighter. No I don't really uh-huh Flatiron my hair anymore. I used to because I had damaged Miracle Bowl Times but I'm always makeup ready floor ready. My makeup has to be done from head to toe hours. Have to have my nails done so I come out on the stage looking ready so we're GONNA come back to that because I know so you spend a ridiculous amount of time because I interrupted you earlier during your makeup and you know you wear about a pound to make A. I'm kidding you have. It's hundred for makeup product. So you so we're GONNA come back to that though but awesome. What are you doing? She kinda ruined the surprise of what you wear line but what. What do you wear lineup? Like what are you wearing is different. Yeah and and destiny it kind of you know. She explained it really well because as in as we you know we take people on tour. We we tell them. Each one of us is an independent contractor. Each one of US offers. You know our own experience and so we're going to address that experience as well you you know there's Gals who do come in in amazing lingerie and rocket out and we're way better than me you know and this is my look. That has that that works for me. Sometimes I mix it up. Sometimes I go for a one piece stress. Sometimes I do like Kinda cute little fish net leggings and just talk. You know kind of lean more towards that way and I mean that's what's really great about working at love ranch. North is you have that sort of expression and freedom. Read them every single day. It's up to you. How you WANNA present yourself on lineup? And it's also cool because you can kind of like see what the other Gal's are doing doing and you know not necessarily steal it but get some ideas about what what's working and what's what people are looking for. So it's that sort of like creative environment both both internally and externally and there's a thing like last week i Austin had came across lake. She like she says it's not like stealing ideas. He is but I kind of like motivated her to dress in a certain way and she came out and I looked over. And I'm like look like me. This is my destiny tribute because it was more of an La style. It was the pencil skirt with a crop top. And I'm like I can do that. I've got that outfit and I came out like destiny. You inspired me to wear this and it was fine. I go and see everyone's lineup. All the different ranch is meet all the different ladies so I know for a fact every single person income differently. You know whether you're bunny ranch where there might be a laundry. A lot of them are in dresses. And it's all the same based on which ranch it is. It still doesn't make a huge difference on actual outfits because everyone has their own unique style for as long as they're following within dress codes can't oh be naked can't wear jeans because realistically doesn't look too classy in jeans at a and R lineups that goes we do get a jeans this day one day in the month yes guys get to wear jeans and from destroyed I love jeans and I look good in them to jeans. It's just that one day if I wear them and that's in years and that's what it is. I only only howdy Peres. Genes like maybe three four and everything else is like skirts expresses and lateness. or You lock wiggins though you have some amazing like a habit you look really good. I'm yeah leggings are always fun. That weird like like. I don't like jeans like no no see. I'm the jeans girl. I had like jeans. Shorts like you know well. Yeah Jean. Shorts are cute. Everybody's going to have a pair of shorts coughs with that the Athol lineup after someone gets picked because everyone is only allowed us other name. Hi I'm lovable. Yeah and we're not allowed to talk on lineup. So we're not allowed to talk. Knicks name wants to girls do the carousel. Okay and we come back to our exact spots where we were then. The client then has to walk up to delay. We can just walk up to you because we don't know who you're actually pointing at who you're talking to because you it could be pointing out one girl but you could be really pointing the girl right next to the other girls you know so you have to walk up to the girl and once you walk up to the girl you know you say your morning and then you take a lovely tour and a Torres basically where you we show you our beautiful facility in everything what we have to offer and like theme rooms and things things like that so yeah and then you go over negotiations at that point. Yep which basically you're just trying to come up with an experience that will go from there so and then you do the thing whether it's date sometimes not even sex but sex in the room kissing massages. I mean anything under the sign at this point because I mean you could just literally sitting there talking Because absolutely ladies are actually cheaper than therapists ninety percent of the people who need you know sex advice or relationship advice now just to talk. I've seen it multiple times that more often than not you know people just WanNa talk. Yeah I mean that's that's good to write. I had guys even couples couples even coming. And you know sometimes you just like to talk and I don't mind it. I don't mind talking actually. Yeah she liked talking. Oh yeah definitely so from there. You know after you're done with all that what what is it like without all all that stuff like what do you do without the lineups. Like what do you keep yourself busy with her in the House all day all night. You know while you're on tours and and or some of you are here permanently different things like that but what exactly are you doing the rest of the are you. Just sitting around your room watching flakes flakes eating Popcorn snoozing actually sorry candy pop rooms I can't there's no food desert little critters. Yes yes we we have. We literally have pest control here every single almost every single week or sometimes twice a week. How many buildings we we have and how big the actual buildings are? 'cause we're actually filming in our former Strip club which you actually wouldn't even know it's fully attached Sagebrush ranch and this used. I used to be a brothel way back in the nineties. Ninety I think this was Sagebrush to which was their secondary parlor when the first building burn down so I could be wrong in the nineties it might have been thousands when a bird. But that's how big these buildings are because all of this is fully connected with multiple rooms that had converted to offices in this end and and how many rooms are in this house. Oh God there's sixty nine like there are technically sixty nine. I think a lot of them have been merged. Converted changed over because like some of the big rooms in this building has been expanded and they tore out one whole room to make a bigger room for the bigger sweets and bigger actual to make more more usable. Really I mean some of these rooms like my office be very tiny room. Granite Granite is bigger than some of the rooms. I've seen before the remodels but definitely I wouldn't want it as a bedroom because it's showers even like really small. Yeah yeah very tiny shower well and that's the thing about love ranch north. I was just talking with somebody the other day you. You don't really have a good idea until you actually walk in and go on tour. How extensive and how beautiful and how much work has been put into it and how each one is so unique and you can feel that character as soon as you walk in I love our parlor or parlour is so inviting? There's a fireplace. There's these beautiful redback benches there. And I mean as soon as you walk in our bars right there and I mean that character is just. It's you know you can't see that from outside you have to come in and check Out Yes so that's awesome Tell me about like the foodwise like because I know your house you guys cook a lot. We love to have a lots of really good cooks bakers. Everything under the Sun. I know like Livia was last week or last episode and she talked about how she loves to bake and all the stuff yeah. She's he's a big baker. She's actually studied into commission. Model me we have other folks as well like Juniper Jones I cook more nighttime commissions more daytime juniper's like whenever we also do get food from a restaurant every day every day is different like for example. Mondays is meatless Mondays and Fridays. It's like Mexican eight and then Sunday's we have either fried chicken pizza or Chinese food on but we also do get breakfast in which is only Fridays and Saturdays which is really awesome and we have a salad bar as well so vegetarian most of the time. Although I do eat fish shen seafood on occasion. So I guess that makes me Pasqua -Tarian but I'm always hitting up that salad bar. We've always got fresh green peppers and carrots and onions thousand beats and garbanzo beans so we definitely eat good between the salad bar. The food that comes in and then the food that the girls are always feeding us us. You don't start at ranch north. Yeah no I mean. We've been to your tea parties. which are business meetings? Every week we know a lot of the girl ladies Cook along with several of our bartenders. Nick dramatic amount of staff for this hour long meeting that we all that all of us come to usually usually between Madame Zad Christopher Myself Serena all these different people that come to love ranch plus all your cashiers and bartenders partners that come to love ranch each week to do your tea parties which your business meetings yes because we all present something different we always bring other people into the also cook for parties to another thing that we do. We like to do and I feel like cooking for us. It's like another way for us to like for example. Like if we're not doing lineups or anything. Yeah what else is there to do cook. Yeah I'm still kind of new. I've only been at love ranch about six weeks so I'm having quite quite warmed up to the cooking yet but I've got my cooking gear out in the car and it's ready to come out so it's GonNa be coming out soon this weekend. Yeah we'll just kick off off doing some good cookie. Yeah show these girls up. I don't know if you're that good money. Yeah I've tasted all the different types of food destiny. Send one of her ribs that she made last weekend home with my roommate. Was One of your bartenders for your house. So you know. That's actually it was really good food and I have no commissions food because I had it when I was a kid cat and when it never engine she always she's super sweet could she'll skew and that's not actually making fun of her. That's actually she does. She always runs like that and she goes here and she brings you a huge bowl one time she run this giant ball all the way into my office just because I over there one time. Yeah so she brought me this huge bowl food. I mean. I don't remember what it was but it was a ton of different foods and stuff that you put in there and she brought all over so I we had one of our cashiers learning She made what was it. She Century Stage Fright. Wig Fried Garlic Nick and rice on the side and I mean I always thought of why they called Chicken Fried Steak. Because it's really steak not chicken by kind of seeing like when you fry it look like chicken. It's actually really looked like beef like the way she Friday okay. It looks like steak and I mean it was my first time trying something like that and it was actually really good. I was impressed. Okay yes and when we had our party last month. Olivia made these incredible cupcakes. 'cause she's she's the expert Baker and she used an Italian buttercream which use a meringue and the frosting and it was fantastic. Okay so you are you get to taste new things like that you taste everything under the sun have course yeah. That's actually pretty amazing. I'M NOT GONNA lie. Yes you Karaoke every Friday guys have your own Karaoke system all set up and do because I know you pull it out and your House majority we love the the majority of the ladies actually like every Friday and Saturday really took four nights and seven. And you know this is my song on Your hot for teacher Van Halen okay. That's that's one that I've been working on lately and I'm also working a few Bon Jovi songs so I'm still kind of new. Read it you know. I'm not as good as destiny. Juniper just pick up the MIC and get the lounge going but I'm I'm working on games Friday. Don't see this yes you should definitely everybody's everybody's post it Kariuki on twitter. But what's your song. I have so many. Just go to shake the Shakey's fallen and then Marvin Gaye. And then I have Whitney Houston and I started doing Tennessee whiskey because there's one girl at our house that likes it. I'm I'm like I don't know how to sing this song. I never really heard it and out of just nowhere blue. It's beautiful. Everybody thinks I've done Karaoke House. Yeah back when he used to actually have Kazuki. Dj's to EJ well. Halloween Re-release - Episode 21: The Joker Probably Did It (The Moonlight Murders/Rebecca Zahau)

"Welcome to the podcast formerly known as someone probably died on this episode. I kick things off with the story of the moonlight. Murders inspired the movie. The town that dreaded sundown. Aaron closest things out with the crazy murder of rebecca's how this is odell. The show thrive for months or even years to come support us by becoming a patriot member. And we'll give you all kinds of special goodies for doing so and you can do all of these things on our website at someone probably died dot com so i go for c. We're being about dialing ourselves in now. 'cause i realized on the last few episodes recorded them before. We made the decision to do the second podcast and that we needed to really dial things into more of the theme of the show. So we can't talk about how we're doing it because that's taking us that's dialing out. I just realized that so. I'm going to summit and kind of talk about my story because i personally yes so. I'm the last episode. I mentioned that. I would be doing a series of sorts about urban legends. There's some say were inspired by true events which later went on to inspire movie or movies or at least themes and movies. So i am loving what i'm finding i just i just feel like the more i dig the more i find and other. Urban legends were inspired. There's so much out. There are other urban legends. You're finding are. They ones that you had heard before some of the some version of okay. I had and just finding where they came from. It's just it's so fucking interesting to me. So last week on episode twenty. I talked about the babysitter endanger. Trope that we've all heard before the house. Yeah we've heard several times. Seen it in several horror. Movies must audibly halloween and of course when a stranger calls which many believe was inspired by the murderer of genetic crispin that i covered last week and side note i have found several other babysitter stories. Now baby murderers back. In the day. That i i was like well. Should i just continue on with favor. Sitters to berber centers dolphin. Big mouth. Bobo buyer babysitter stories. But then i would get burned out on that. So i'm going to continue doing a new urban legend every week like i had originally said and whether i go back and cover these later on future episodes i've also thought that maybe i could do an extension series on petri on so still thinking about that. But i'm not sticking with babysitters. Today i am going to go back. So i'd mentioned another movie titled the town that dreaded sundown what started all of this was the murders that i covered an episode nineteen patricia. Mannion jesse mcbain reminded me of murders that took place in that movie. The town that dreaded sundown. Which i knew was based on a true story. So that's what led me down. This rabbit hole of urban legends inspired by true stories. So since i mentioned the town that dreaded sundown. That's the story that i'm gonna cover today. This is that so. I have not seen that movie. Okay or know anything about it. But i a trivial pursuit horror edition and it mentioned. It was like right after you and i talked about it. It mentioned the town that dreaded sundown. So now i feel like i have to watch this at some point. Some very savvy on amazon prime. If anyone has amazon prime and i did re watch the movie the other night so i did all of my research and i thought go back and watch the movie again because i had seen it back in the eighties with my cousin who used to make me watch horror movies with her. So it's been several years in. There was one murder specifically in the film. The stuck out to me and it was really the only thing that i could remember what the killer looked like. I could remember this one specific death so he didn't really remember anything else. I'm just going to say that the so the movie is done. In documentary style where there's a narrator and he says only the names were changed everything else true. It's not they took a lot of liberty was some of the story and with some of the deaths. They were changed on at a dramatic effect. So as i'm going through my story. Today i am going to do a comparison between what actually happened and then mentioned what happened in the movie just to let you know excellent so for those of you. Who don't want spoiler. Sorry you're on. You're get spoiler today. That's great you can stop this and then you go watch the movie again. There two movies titled the town that dreaded sundown the nineteen seventy six. One is the one that's based on the murders. The two thousand fourteen one is not a remake of that movie a continuation a copycat killer so that one is purely fictional Both her hall dot so. It's a little confusing. Because i thought it was a remake part of it but so anyway if you want to go back and you want to see a movie of dramatization of these murders. I'm talking about today. It's the seventy six version that she want to watch. But before you jump into the story we're gonna start with urban legends that some say were inspired by these murderers which were known as the mid the moonlight murders. But we've all heard a story about a mask killer lurking in the woods. Hunting unsuspecting teens. Who have gone out to park. And they want to see how many bases they can cross while in the car. The windows are all foggy in the end. Up getting murdered her stock or whatever most notably. I think the first one. I heard was a story about a couple. Maybe in the fifties. They're making out with the fifties music playing on the radio and it's interrupted by a radio announcer stating that. There is a new detik with a hook stocking people in the woods and so the girl freaks out dude takes her home when they get to her house and he goes to open the door to let her out. They find a hook stock. The handle willing story was allegedly inspired by the moonlight murders. Though there's no proof that the killer ever had a hook in in the rain but that's where that came from. And then i also did the story of the bandaged man of cannon beach during our elwin specials who also stocks kids along lovers lane at night several different versions of the story now. The actual story as i mentioned before is referred to as the moonlight murderers. And they took place in texarkana between february twenty-second. They have to remember day and may twenty third nineteen forty six. I was not born at that point time before bucket. But this is where a masked killer who was eventually known as a phantom killer or the phantom slayer murdered. Five people and wounded three others and to this day has never actually been caught now trigger warning for sensitive listeners. The cases in this segment do contain stories of sexual assault. So if that's triggering to you forward to aaron story. Maybe i don't know she'll give you worry there. That's fine. texarkana is a town that sits atop the border of texas and arkansas with half the city in texas. The other half in arkansas. In case the previous sentence didn't make sense but it's a town that from i understand sits near a railway or release at the time it did. I don't know if the railway still runs through there or not but at this specific point in time it was just after world war two and many men were moving there to find work on the railroad and there was another place there that was hiring a lot so there was a huge influx of people into the city at that time which also means there was an increase in crime so the first attack might have raised a few eyebrows. But it didn't really rattle anyone to the bones. So the first attack. Took place on february twenty-second as i mentioned nineteen forty-six where twenty five year old. Jimmy hollis and his girlfriend nineteen year old married. Jean laret or larry. It's l. a. r. e. y. So i don't know if she's fancier not just call her lori by so they'd gone to a movie and then much like people did back then. They went for some privacy. They parked along a secluded dirt. Road away from people they could play some kissy face and then it was reported that just before midnight. Someone appeared at the driver's side window and shown a bright flashlights in the window. A i the two of them thought you know someone would just fucking around with them but then the man pulled a gun on them and demanded that they get out of the car. It was reported to the man was wearing a white hood. Like a pillowcase. Over his face and the is were cut out anyone getting friday the thirteenth part to vibes jason. She thinks similar for yours hockey mask so i feel like that was inspired by this anyway. So the couple of the car. The man immediately demanded that jimmy take off his pants. Jimmy complied and then the man pistol-whipped twice cracking his skull knocking him unconscious mary. Jane told the man that they didn't have any money. Has she thought he was trying to rob them. He hit her in the head as well and then told her to run. She started running toward a ditch because there were trees on the other side of it so she figured maybe she could get into the treeline and hide but he yelled at her to run the other way so she did. She came up on a car ran up to thinking that maybe she would find some help there. But it was empty and i but i don't know for sure that maybe it was a phantoms car. That was there so anyway. He caught up with her and when he did he casually asked her. Why are you running. She was running because he told her to. He called her a liar. Did he knocked her down. Big chair warning here proceeded to sexually assault her with a barrel of the gun. Oh my god yeah. This is while she's unconscious or unconscious. He'd knocked her down omega on. My god god no. He left without killing her. She got up. She ran for help. And i read. The jimmy also managed to come to and i don't know if he got in the car and drove to find help but eventually they both survived. They were both taken to the hospital. They were questioned by police but due to inconsistencies in their stories the police decided that they just made it up. Whoever had attacked them they knew them and they were trying to protect them so they told the public. It was just a revenge attack. Nothing to worry about. Oh my god if someone attacks me. I'm not making that shut up and i'm not going to protect someone like if someone i know as attacked me circle down if you pissed with me if use fucking sexually assaulted. Do you know like the psychological tori. That would my god my. I'd even if i didn't know you i'm not protecting your ass. Now you're going down motherfucker so in the movie version of the scene. The couple survived but the character representing jimmy there. The names were changed in the movie. And i don't remember what the character's names were. It was much more dramatic like dude. They were trying to drive away. Dude broke the front window. And then he pulled jimmy out the front window of the the cars of course and then hit him. I think it was with a crowbar. The girl wasn't raped but she was. I think she got shot and then someone drove up on her. She was found crawling across the road so there was a lot of drama and also as a side no in the movie. If you watch it. I don't know of cars. Were really really difficult to drive back. Then or what the fuck. Because every time someone comes getting around a corner. The car is like fish tailing about to spin a cookie and this was the fifties or the forties in the forties the forties. I haven't is from the forties. I don't know but anyway so it was kinda comical so coming back to the actual story. It's now march. Twenty four hours and some guy. Driving along rich road found a car parked the end of the road which was also popular lovers lane. He went to check the car to see if there was anyone in there. And if they were okay and found the dead bodies of twenty nine year old richard griffin and his seventeen year. Old girlfriend pollyanna more. How huge age disparity there. Richard was found between the front seat of the car on his knees. And then pollyanna was in the back. Seat both had been shot in the head and from what it looks like they may have been shot outside of the car or at least one of them because there was blood on the ground and it looks like there may have been a struggle out there. They also found bullet casings which were said to be from a colt. Thirty two pistol. From what i understand. She too had been raped but there was nothing. Formerly mentioned in the post mortem report but police said that she had been assaulted at this point in time. Police from both texas and arkansas were brought in as well as the fbi to investigate and a five hundred dollar reward was posted. Dozens of people were interviewed. Most of them from a bar. That wasn't far from where the couple had been found. I also read that. Jimmy and mary jean. The first victims insisted that whomever had killed richard and polly. Ann was probably the same man who had attacked them. But they've heard word now. This makes me think that you the police were really awful or the two of them. Were the pariahs. Texarkana taken seriously must have a reputation of being fucking idiots or something because yeah both times. They're like just go away. Sir larry something up with those two now in the movie. The scene was much more dramatic. The lead policeman was out patrolling. The city happened upon an empty car and when he went to investigate he heard gunshot so he calls for backup on a cb radio then goes looking for the gunshots. Defines the guy lying in a ditch with a gunshot wound to the head and then he eventually finds a girl tied to a tree with a gunshot wound and there's also a close call scene between the policemen and the killer. The killer gets away. You know so again. A lot of dramatic effect but this scene bugged the fuck outta me because the police officers was raining really hard and he has a flashlight and he's looking around like he's having a hard time seeing. It was obviously daytime when the scene was shot. Maybe just before dawn or dusk but it was like there turn. You need the flashlight job crazy. So now coming. Back to the real crimes since april fourteenth three weeks after richard and pollyanna were murdered and there was a dance at the local veterans of foreign wars organization and the town and fifteen year. Old betty jo booker had attended because she played the saxophone and she was in the band who was playing for dance that night at the gig ram late and afterwards she was getting a ride home from a good friend of hers. Sixteen year old martin. This was the last time when they left to dance last time. The either of them were alive a few hours after they left the dance. Some people travelling down north park road saw what appeared to be a teenage male lying on his side in the middle of the road when they got out to see if he was okay they found that had been shot in the face the hand the back and then through the back of his neck when police got there they discovered that the gun that was used to shoot him was again. A thirty two colt pistol which was also the type of gun used in the previous murders. Police kept searching found area. Further up the road from where he was found in a looked as though struggle had taken place there because there was blood on the ground they kept searching for betty jo and eventually found her around eleven thirty. Am almost two miles away from where they found the kid she had been shot twice once in the chest wanna face again with thirty two caliber pistol. And this is what's creepy. They found her fully clothed. Her coat was banned all the way up to her neck. She was lying on her back with one of her hands in her coat pocket so he had staged her he's progressing. Oh my god and killing number. What what number are we on. This was she was so four. People were killed six had been attacked but they didn't think the first to counter the liar mouth or whatever they were chased for forensic evidence also indicated that she too had been sexually assaulted god. What's weirder as paul's car was found. Another two miles away with the keys still inside and then several days later betty jo saxophone was retrieved. Not far from where her body was found. No as far as the movies version of these murders. This was definitely one. That was the most way off. Track heavily dramatized and this is the one that i remember so when i found out that it wasn't true it didn't really happen like this. I was a little disappointed. Evidently a ton of people were because every story that i found in every read at mention and they were talking about how disappointed they were the story. That was the murder that was portrayed in the film was not true but in this film. She plays the trombone not a saxophone. The killer kaiser tree and she's so horribly distraught to no don't hurt me to her trombone and she's like bette kellerman awesome ties a knife to the end of the trombone and he sits behind her and he tried to play it and every time i'm pushes it out. He stabs her with. Oh my gosh. But i grew up thinking. That's how it actually happened. Which is why. I remember disturbing remember this movie from being you know. Twelve years was so yeah. After these murders took place people really started freaking the fuck out. The entire town was put on a curfew. The reward went up to seventeen hundred dollars. There were tons of rumors regarding who the killer might be but still all leads went cold. Needless to say by this time parents were not letting their teens go out after sundown. Who has like everyone's a home. Where safely locked up in our houses. Everything's fine on the night of may third thirty six year old married couple virgil and katie. Starks were sitting at home in their farmhouse which was located roughly ten miles outside of town. Virtual was sitting in the living room listening to the radio and reading the paper. Katie was in bed but she was having a hard time falling asleep because she thought she heard something or someone walking around outside. She was pretty unnerved. She yelled out to virgil and asked him to turn down the radio and about that time. She heard the sound of breaking glass coming from the living room. She went into the living room to see what was wrong. She saw virgil standup grabs head and then fall backward into the chair. She ran over to him and noticed his head was covered in blood. The window behind him was broken and she realized he had been shot twice in the back of the head while he sat there reading the paper. So katie ran into the kitchen to call the police before she could. She was shot twice in the face. College didn't kill her but a bronx over teeth. She couldn't see much because she was bleeding profusely but she could hear someone struggling with a screen door like they're either trying to tear their way through it or cut their way through it into. She ran in the opposite direction through to the other door on the other side of the house. She ran outside across the highway to her sister's house and in true horror movie fashion. There was no one home. Oh my god oh. She kept running because he's a bad ass farm lady. She went down the road. Another fifty yards to another house. Lucky for her. These people were home so they called the police. She was taken to the hospital and miraculously survived. Why all the scene in the movie happened. Mostly like this though. The tension was up to bet because it took her through a cornfield and the killer was in hot. Pursuit races calls in the in the cornfield but the woman in the movie who played her in the character in this case was deemed. Helen read but she was played by don wells who played marianne on gilligan's island weird because i watched that movie and i was like oh i wonder if she's still alive the next day god easiest quitting time in real arkansas texarkana people are freaked out because initially they thought will. I'm safe home and now a couple has just been shot from outside. While they were doing they do at home right so investigators believed until then that the killer was some sort of sex maniac or pervert because of the rapes also because he was creeping around on people who are making on their cars but now that someone had been shot at home the tension had been up to bit people started buying up all the guns. They started putting together makeshift booby-traps around their houses and people were warned that before you go over to neighbor visit or see a family member who doesn't live with you you better call first because he could get shot. Oh my gosh. But the police noticed one small detail between the stark shooting on the others. The starks were shot with a twenty two but the other's had been shot with a thirty two pistol and the movie made it look like it was the same killer. The police couldn't be one hundred percents. Sure and in fact many people believe the person who shot the starks may have been a farmhand that worked for them but this time all of the murders like of the people who are parking were on the texas side of the town. The started on the arkansas side which is also another small difference still. The town was in a state of panic. The reward money grew. I think i read it. Grew up to like seven thousand dollars and while a few people did come forward and confess. The men who are coming forward were known to have mental health issues. And other stories ever add. Yeah now the attack on the starks was the last known attacked by the phantom. No-one was ever formally charged but there is one man who many believe may have done it his name was. Ul swinney out. He was unknown car thief and in at least two of the murder cases the cars had been stolen and then abandoned now police were staking out cars. That had been stolen. They found one. They were taking it out. They saw a young woman walk up to it and when they approached her they found her to be the twenty one year. Old wife of you l. When they questioned her further learned that he was in another texas town trying to sell a car that he had stolen. They called the police in that town. The police went to arrest him. He fled down a fire escape. They eventually caught up to him. And while they're loading him in the car. He asked him if he was going to get the chair. They said people don't get the death penalty for stealing cars. He mumbled something about doing more than just stealing cars out. Lord meanwhile in texarkana. Peggy was being questioned by the police and she told them that you all was the phantom killer. She was able to speak about details. That had been made available. The hadn't been made available to the public so things. She couldn't have possibly known unless she knew the keller. I also read that. She had mentioned walking through the woods. A one point in watching you. I'll kill one of victims and police had mentioned that there were women's footprints in the woods that they couldn't really account for it was also found that you all had owned a thirty two caliber pistol but it recently sold it so it could be then that he had sold the pistol. Which is why the starks were killed with the twenty two. If that was in fact him. Yeah the problem is at this time. The law stated that a wife could not be forced to testify against her husband and peggy had recanted her confession. Sanatha biscuit since they couldn't use her they tried using they tried using truth serum on you l. because he refused to talk is that what is it but all the serum did was making pass out lord but is this. I don't know i like seeing movies. Where they're like. We're going to give you some truth serum. I didn't realize it was a real thing. I thought it was just something that existed in movies it. I thought it was just something that existed. Mary potter called beer to serum views. That there's all tell you my truth. Serum is gimme some nice vodka tonic. Tequila or tequila opens everything from phones. Usually for me. But that's a story for the podcast anyway. So since no one could speak up and prove that you all was ever at the scene of any of the crimes they couldn't formally arrested for the murders but they did send in prison for life for as being a habitual offender. Since he had stolen and sold several cars and then been involved in several counterfeiting scams. He was released in nineteen seventy three and then died in a nursing home in dallas in nineteen ninety. Three but again there were no more murders or attempted murders after the stocks have been shot outside of the panic spreading right throughout the tone and then eventually throughout arkansas and texas and some of the surrounding states the police were flooded with panic calls people claiming they saw prowlers that they heard gunshots but no one else was murdered so again. The original movie was released on christmas eve. Nineteen seventy-six just two years before. Halloween kicked off the slasher movie craze. And to this day every year around halloween in texarkana. The town plays the movie to close out the yearly movies in the park event which has been a tradition since two thousand three and evidently the park where it takes place is just a few feet from where the last two kids were called. Tau kind of fucked up but in two thousand fourteen. So the the sequel which has the same title the town. Sundown focuses on that town. It takes place in texarkana and it kicks off during one of these movies in the park event while they're watching the original movie and a copycat killer strikes. I am so going to put that on my bucket list. Go to texas texarkana for the film festival and watch that movie in the actual town. That would be how would that be. Okay it sounds so morbid does. But it's also kind of like i mean for people like us kind of sounds. Now have to report on your first story so going to do that. I love it close. I definitely need to see that movie. Know in a lot of people say this was the first real slasher movie. But i would not agree because black christmas. The original black christmas was out in nineteen seventy four with a living. That was that the latest black. Christmas was a remake over. There have been two remakes of the original. Seventy and then i was still living in texas when the next one came out of house like lacy shebbeare and and carrie fisher was in it and then there was another one. Just like this past christmas. I think kerr the year before another remake. I haven't seen any of them a really. I've seen one and the second. I didn't see the latest one okay. But that was about a dude hiding in the house stocking some sorority sisters on christmas so and that was a slasher abia slasher because everyone says the halloween kicked off the slasher movie craze which really did kick off the craze because the success of that movie farmer the thirteenth all the others but that actually started and depending on your definitely slashings right before that exactly. Oh my gosh that was really perfectly spooky. It is so let's take a break. Come back for your story. Welcome what story do you this story really kind of this is one where someone definitely died and trigger warning there is a child does die one of the people in there's speculation of sexual assault and things like that but there aren't many details about it so i think it'll be fine but just in case you are sensitive to that so this is about rebecca how rebecca was born march fifteenth nineteen seventy-nine in northwestern. Burma she came from a family of chin ethnicity and was raised as a protestant she lived in nepal in germany. All these places and then she came to the us at some point. I say it's an oh in two thousand and one. So she was born in seventy nine. She came to the. Us in two thousand one so in give you just a little overview of her time line when she got here. She came over here with her family. Her family mostly lived in saint joseph missouri in two thousand and two. She got married to a thirty six year old nursing student in arizona in two thousand eight just few years after getting married she started having an affair with a man named jonas shack. Ni- who was the ceo of medicis pharmaceutical. He was one of the highest. Paid ceos in arizona. He made six point four million dollars in two thousand ten. I know most of those people anyway. He had two previous marriages. His first one was a girl. Kimberly and that resulted in a divorce in a nasty custody battle. Over the couple's two children the second one was a woman named gina raimondo. They had a son. Max 'field aaron shack night that they called max in two thousand and nine. Rebecca was arrested for shoplifting. After stealing a thousand dollars worth of jewelry from macy's in phoenix and she pled guilty. She was off out off. Dow mc afoul mc technical center of comic like tech. They did i have all. Yeah okay guess. He was an upcoming technician until december two thousand ten. She and neil divorced in two thousand eleven so she had this big long affair in the middle of this marriage that she had and then they got divorced so she and jona were still together while in on july eleventh two thousand eleven. Rebecca max the sun and rebecca's teenage sister zena. They were at jonas mansion that he used as a summer estate. You know how you do in coronado california and at some point during the day max fell face first over the second floor banister for injuries to his spinal cord and i know this affected his heart his heart rate and his breathing. Rebecca said that she was in the bathroom when she heard the sound and she found maximum in slater and got her sister to call nine one one. Max was not breathing. He was unresponsive. When an officer arrived he described rebecca as kneeling beside max. Just in total state of shock She said that. Max had said one word tour. In that was ocean. Now ocean was the name of their dog so it was thought maybe the trip over the dog or something you know later in officer overheard rebecca. Tell her sister. Dina's gonna kill me. Which was max's mother. I think that's a proportionate response. I mean of course gonna be upset. I'm so max was taken to rady children's hospital. On july twelfth. Rebecca picked up dina's twin sister nina dina nina and teenage son in nina recalls her asking rebecca. What happened and rebecca saying that. He fell from the bedroom. Meena didn't understand what she was talking about and kept trying to press rebecca for details. Rebecca was very flustered. An acting very strangely also on that day. Rebecca dropped off her sister zena at the airport. Spur to go back to missouri and she picked up jonas brother adam who had just arrived on a flight from memphis so rebecca jona and adam ate dinner at the fish market restaurant that night and rebecca was very silent for most of the meal. At this point. I can see rebecca being beyond uncomfortable because it happened on her watch so when nina was questioning her and everything i could see getting so flustered and frustrated. Because it's just you don't know what happened. You have no answers. But you're the one who was there like brat would be so traumatizing so adam. Let me tell you a little bit about adam. The brother was from memphis and he lived in like this funky mid town district and he was a tugboat operator very different from his brother. Jona the ceo of this big company right. But he was there to support jonah and his son maxwell max so they ate dinner that night and after the meal. Rebecca and adam return to the mansion while jonah reportedly kept a vigil at max's bedside with the mother dina he would leave the hospital to recuperate at a nearby ronald mcdonald house. Adam was going to stay in the guest house so rebecca was alone in the mansion. Adam reportedly called his girlfriend took an ambien and went to bed at about eight. Pm on the morning of july thirteenth the next morning at about six forty five am. Adam went to get coffee in the mansion and he saw rebecca's naked body hanging from a second story balcony hanging outside from the balcony by red rope with her wrists and her wrists were bound behind her. Her ankles were tied. She was gagged with a blue long sleeve shirt wrapped around her head with the sleeves. Double nodded and stuffed into her mouth so like wrapped around and then the slaves are stepped in her mouth. She says there was also what appeared to be tape residue on her legs. So adam called nine one one at six forty eight. Am sounded frantic. Iran side to look for a knife in the kitchen and then dragged this three legged table to where rebecca was hanging somehow managed to cut her body down. He removed the shirt from her mouth. He tried to administer mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Despite the fact that rigor mortis at already set in. He then sent a text message to his brother to inform him the news. I feel like that shouldn't be set in taxed. But that's a that's just me personally jonah. The father told dina the mother of max that rebecca killed herself and then pantomime stabbing himself in stomach. He told her that it was an asian honor. So you know that store. Is you know if you bring dishonor to your family and they you know stopping solves so he was saying that it must be the guilt. She felt over max or something. Police initiated forensic toxicology testing on. Our body is part of an autopsy to determine the cause of death speculations of foul play obviously being land early in the case however investigators were unable to find any dna at the scene besides rebecca's so at the mansion the coronado police in the san diego county sheriff's department were treating the death as a homicide and so they were investing in the second story by german everything or it was actually in the guest room that she had done that it was done. They found the other end of the rope. Around rebecca's neck. It was tied to a bed. They found knives black paint brushes and a cryptic message painted on the door. That said she saved him. Can you save her. Sounds like something that the joker would do in batman though many questioned the way the police handled the scene. We really are like bagging. There's some good ones not in these cases so mainly because rebecca's body was left in the summer sun for hours there was even the news. Copters were flying above in the dead body was down there not covered or anything just laying in the lie. Can't comprehend that so disgusting and while police did take dna samples. from adam. the brother who's there. They gave him a polygraph test. They did not explain. Why glass of clear liquid in another room in the guest house was not examined. Adams test results came back inconclusive. But he was allowed to fly home and then her ex husband was taken off the suspect list because he was seen at a gym that morning and her her boyfriend. Jonah was cleared because he had been captured on video at the ronald mcdonald house. Right so they were all cleared on max. So that was july thirteenth max. The son died on july sixteen due to brain damage caused by oxygen deprivation on july twenty. Six investigators ruled the boy's death isn't accident speculating. That he somehow tripped. However a trauma. Doctor who examined max prior to his death you know stated police that he did not believe. The injuries from his fall were consistent with cardiac arrest and brain swelling experienced by him suggesting that max may of suffocated prior to his fall. Uh-huh so on september second. The san diego county sheriff's permit formally announced they're finding that rebecca committed suicide. Now there's so many questions because fans were tired. Say hackers square feet. There's a cryptic message left like what about this situation. Says suicide rebecca's autopsy results revealed four instances of head trauma. Sandiego medical examiner. Jonathan lucas stated that quote because there was evidence she went over the balcony and a non vertical position. She may have struck her head on the balcony on her way down however forensic consultant dr. Maurice godwin expressed doubt stating the chances of bumping into the railing going over the balcony. And hitting your head. Four times is very unlikely. Than's not going to happen. And what do they mean by non vertical position like she just like threw herself. Well i mean. I guess if you climb over and just fall kind of well i would also assume that maybe someone who is going to do that year kind of jumping. So you're maybe going a little out. Horizontally down. maybe. Yeah okay when you buy a second. Autopsy was conducted by pathologist. Dr cyril wecht at her family's request. She testified Arm sorry. He testified that he believed fractures. In rebecca's throat were caused by manual strangulation not by suicidal hanging. He further stated that he thought rebecca's death was a homicide. In addition there was a question of why a pair of hadn't been analyzed that were found in the guest house trash. They also didn't process a drop of blood found in the shower of the master bedroom. Now they suggested that the reason for that was they said she was on her period and it was most likely menstrual blood. That's why double check for the love of god. If you find any mo- wonder so many crimes go unsolved at this. Is there if this is the green. Investigative work we're doing is free. So family members expressed suspicions for why rebecca's hands and feet were bound san diego sheriff roy. Frank stated quote. There are documents of incidents throughout the country where people have secured their feet enhance as well to commit suicide prevent themselves from changing their minds. Though i get that i totally get that and police. In fact reenacted the scenario in an effort to determine whether it would have been possible for rebecca to bind herself in that fashion and they showed a video demonstration in which a woman wrapped a rope around her hands several times in front of her slipped one hand out of the binding then placed her hands behind her back. Rebound them and tighten the bindings with the aid of a string similar to the one which police found rebecca's hands so it's not completely out of the question and they said it was pretty simple. Not that you didn't have to like any sort of expert to make it happen. However this is where this is why i brought up her upbringing over in northwestern burma there for a big chunk of her life and her upbringing the protestant upbringing. She said that her sister said that she would never have killed herself because they were protestant christians and she certainly wouldn't have done it in the nude. She said asian people are too modest chelsea has said that the only time rebecca would ever be nude was when she slept and perhaps the killer was someone who carter in bed but she would never bring that shame to the family in other words so police obtained her cellphone records in from roughly. Apm until ten pm. Rebecca talked and texted with her older sister. Mary who confirmed that xena had arrived home safely at ten forty eight pm. Rebecca received a text from nina romano. The twin sister. Max's mom in nina. Wanted to stop by the house and talk about max's. Accident has remember. Nina was like i couldn't get a clear story out of her. Rebecca did not reply that message police said rebecca. Check turquoise mail a few hours later at twelve fifty a m and listened to a message that was allegedly from jonet saying max's condition had worsened however they were never able to recover that message. So that's what jonas says. And that's what they're using as the motivation for her committing suicide was. It looked like the sun wasn't gonna make it well. In july two thousand thirteen rebecca's family filed a ten million dollar wrongful death suit naming adam shack nye the brunner dina shack nye the mother in nina romano as co conspirators. The twin sister for almost four years the wrongful death suit presented a plot masterminded by dna the motivation for the murder. She i mean it's easy to see. This woman steals your husband and then kills your only kid wrote pretty big motive right there. The sisters were eventually cleared from the suit because there was video that place them at the hospital at the time of her death dina still has tons of questions and she's still obviously very upset about it. I mean max's room is still in its exact state of as it was when he died. Apparently there are some things that happened that the police have not really covered for example when the paramedics got there. Rebecca screamed at our sister. You could hear it on the nine one. One call screamed at her sister. Don't open that door. There is also reports that a neighbor two doors down from the mansion said they could hear a woman crying for help and eleven thirty the night rebecca died. So there's all that has not been investigated on april fourth. Two thousand eighteen a jury found adam shack ni- responsible for the debt rebecca zahle. Jonah has since remarried and tried to move on from this in like doesn't talk about it just like most millionaires. Do i how. I know so. Yeah there's still like. I don't know this is my conspiracy but sounds like someone's being paid to become quiet to not investigate. Yeah it sounds. Money cleared to per suspicious. Yeah there's so much that. I don't understand how how these things weren't investigated. There's also reports that there was like really loud music playing now. I can see like i've taken any. I took an ambien last night. I didn't wake up until wailing or today. But i can see like when if if he truly did take an ambien. It can knock you out right. You can also do crazy things when you're on ambien. I know many people who've woken up in all of a sudden they went out to drive their car. Did you know. I didn't i angel on. Espn i need to hear this story. Cast but no one of my brother's friends. He told me that she woke up a ditch. She she took the car out she was completely on ambien in the car was in the ditch. She got out of the car like don. She drove the car into a ditch so much more strains if she'd driven a car out of the car and then went to sleep in a ditch. Awesome story really know some answers tango. So yeah anyway. That's i don't see how it's a suicide personally. Bright that does not seem likely. And you know. What's so sad. Is that in the middle of all of this. There was a little boy who passed but was completely overshadowed by this scandal in mystery surrounding the other gentleman even his staff. I mean his very questionable. And i don't feel like she would have. If she felt guilty about this that she would have taken the time to bind her own. Feed by her own wrists. Go through all that elaborate setup to make a look like a may not have been a suicide and what does the note mean. She signed him. Can you save her. Still think to mean. I mean it's and they. Of course her family said that was not in her writing but it was also in block letters. That's no one's writing. She was a painter. she loved to paint. So that makes sense why the black acrylic paint was there. But there are so many things to who rebecca was. That don't make sense. If she hadn't been nude. I think it would be easier to buy and then if the police had actually investigated everything then it would be easier to buy. But there's just enough questions and then this ten million dollar wrongful death suit I mean you remember nicole brown and us name rob kato. Kato lived in testified. God why can we not. Gosh my brand is completely. I feel like our true crime card is about vote. Ron ron and bronco yup yup but yeah these filed that civil suit against oj. We all know jay did it. You know but they had to get him in the civil while one atom. What's gotten in the civil suit while this was on a this was actually featured on dateline secrets uncovered got it. Yeah i remember vaguely hearing someone facet adam like took down her body and everything. That's another thing that's temporary mean. Is you don't at night. But then that can make it look like mo might if they found his dna taken down. That's why exactly we're very smart. Well let's take another break and then we'll do quick in memoriam. Welcome back peeps. So my in memoriam today was sent in by luanne from florida. She read the story in her local news. She sent over to us immediately because she felt it would fit perfectly in our in memoriam segments. Gosh i love florida well. This is as a doozy and its recent. So this happened. Just a few months ago and december thirteenth twenty twenty thirty two year old florida man by the name of jonathan hernandez was allegedly attempting to rob a house. Here pushed up. A window was climbing through the window of the home. He got part of the way inside and the window slammed down on his neck leaving him trapped now when the police arrived they found him dead. Evidently hit hoists himself up almost trying to wiggle inside the house which made the window come down on his neck and it trapped him leaving him suspended above the ground. he couldn't get touch the ground. He couldn't get his hands up to lift the window up because he had no leverage so he suffocated. Gosh init- that. I it has to be the worst way to go. But his family questioned the validity of the official account of what police say happened. Though according to police he has a lengthy criminal history including felony conviction for grand theft and to eighteen. He was also arrested in two thousand fourteen in connection with a murder still. The family has friends and his girlfriend claimed that he was not a bad person. And i quote. They said one of his friends that he is not a thief. That's not who he is. They claim that there's more to the story that may be police. Had done it or there are some cover up or something. I don't know how i mean. That seems like z. Worst potential cover up for something like oh no. He got his head stuck in a window though. I mean that's the dumbest thing. Tennis florida that this of course it happen. Of course it happened there. I love the. I mean that is truly a case of he had so much time. 'cause i'm sure it took time or just suffocate. Sure he had so much time to regret his decision. Coming in the house i can. I don't know whose house was where they home or were they not home. did they. Come have with them aren't how they would here right but then found him do a neighbor find him or was the police just driving by a man like hanging out of window was the window there still have so many directly with facing and who discovered him in how long he had been there. Yeah so many questions you to do a deeper as usually i do but when i was searching for florida man trump right well just florida alone will bring up everything and so when i tried to where it's like where you put in florida man and your birthday this and the top article i think mine was like a man killed another man with a toilet seat or something. It was so see. Mine's not fun. Because it's a big birthday. I can't really find any good information. I need to look for like the day after claim that that's yours. Yeah so. I couldn't find anything more to stories and both of them had the same information not a whole lot. I have a feeling that maybe after a few months especially if the family are pursuing this as a wrongful death or trying to get people to look into. Maybe there'll be some more that comes up out of it and making cover during one of our someone's probably listening stories so excellent. Well that's all we have for you and this episode have have another week another week. That's the perfect twenty twenty. One say either good we eat. Let's not let's manage expectations.
