"Like. Prohibition ending all over again it's exactly like exactly like that you had a gangling last time. I was in Philly. So it's been a while every time I go to Philadelphia I always get a hotel room downtown near Independence Mall area where the historical area down him up, and from there I can walk to fourth and south streets location of Jim's steaks my favorite cheese steak and I go upstairs to their dining room that looks out over South Street there and I get myself a big cheese steak and an ice cold ying-ling yell lager. Now is the last I'm salivating just talking about it. That was the last time I had an inkling was born back. I was in Philly so not. When was I back last last year that it had been? Team. At or did I go last year at all? I, don't know. It's been a long time. I forget time is meaningless to me. Now I've been a rough couple of years. I've lost all track, but you're going to have a completely stocked fridge when it's available out. I will be drinking ying-ling lager on the Ragu the kids say. Apparently I keep meaning to well too late now but there was a bar in north Hollywood apparently that had it available on tap really. Yeah. I. Don't know how he got the kegs but smoking the bandit. Right someone told me that you could always get it there, but I have not had one. East, west of the of the rockies since I've been back East by the twenty two states is the only place. You can get it in back east and now starting in the second half of twenty one, it will be available to those of us here on the West. Now, they haven't announced yet, which states they're going to begin with. Oh. So but they got California Ryan. Thank you would come here for. You'RE GONNA try to break through in a marketplace. You'd probably want to pick the biggest state. So I'm assuming they'll hit us but they're gonNA announce next Tuesday I guess they'll announce. Which unnerves they said on Tuesday, they'll announce it a few months which Western states will be getting England I so as very excited, very exciting for you. So excited Minna bathe in it a filled the bathtub. GonNa, get it and just let it just just ice cold baths seep into my pores. And speaking of booze and Thursday. It is thirsty Thursday Carl Carl you tell our army member and as he's being no now the guard tender. Of the army. Every Thursday, he samples a drink that I challenge him with he builds it and drinks for your pleasure and today is no different thirsty Thursday. The drink today is the pineapple upside down. Cake was the last drink that I challenged him with. He's GonNa put that together and he is starting to make video versions of this now. So what I did was I said, okay, I'm going to bounce the video over to the two three and four star generals because those are the army generals who get the bonus video content and then some people who aren't two three and four star generals and If, you can figure out who those people are. From. One star channels like we used to listen to and we'd like listening to it, and now we can listen to it and we can't see who you can't give it in the take it away. Right. So what I'm GonNa do is I'm GonNa play the audio. Today and every Thursday on the show. So you can hear him describe what he's doing and the drink that he's making in his reaction to that drink. But if you WANNA see the video of it then you gotta be a two three or four star you're just roulette seems right right Ralph Wise. As we establish your Ralph. The one I am Ralph the wise. So here it is. If you WANNA take a listen here for you at one-star generals in for any two three and four is that are also inclined is Carl Beutel, our resident guard tender making today's drink the pineapple upside down cake. He's go. Off Shaking. With. Low everyone and welcome to Thursday I am Carl from. And on your guard tender. Today's drink is the pineapple upside down cake before I get going wanted to give a few things. One John Cooperman. Thank you so much for making the Jingle I. Love It. It's crazy and I'm so happy to have it to a special thanks to Brandon Roy Barker who keeps US sixteen I use the term guard tender if you like it, let me know or thank him and then finally to. Brent. Brand, thanks, I, appreciate it. Okay. Let's get on with. Today's drink the pineapple upside down. Cake is a combination of five liquids and save. Liquids. Because not all of them are alcoholic. If your sound in the background that sounds like a song going through change a chains because my neighbor decides to go ahead and carve only when I'm filming the segment. Fixed if aren't, let's get on with the drink. First off we have vodka. this Falker right here I. Got Costco. It's actually pretty good vodka for all drinks but especially, drinks remixing strong favors like juice in Greenwich, you don't need a very sophisticated vodka to get the job done. We also have here a bourbon whiskey. This is from Tennessee. And it's called blitz. It's not spelled, but it's pronounced. We also have. Cute schnapps. Thinks Ralph I told there there was two drinks that kind of done the in on the past one gold schlager. The other was definitely changed shots. Physically destroyed the second half of my prom night and. It's the cure that is flavored like peach and our to normal beverages we have we have pineapple juice and Grenadine, so. The proportions are as follows this drink enjoys. Point seven five ounces of the volcano not even a full house. Kim Easy. WE HAVE HALF ANNOUNCE A BOURBON Model. We have only a quarter. Of, peace, Schloss. Goodness. More, now. And then pineapple juice at half an ounce again. And then Ralph recommended a splash of Grenadine actually wouldn't looked up when a splashes splashes point to announces actually had a term and in the kitchen if you use the term splash, it also can be point two ounces. So here we go splash. Freddie and that's it. Now the total toxicity of this drink when you take all those an atom together. At the eighty proof vodka ninety for the Bourbon thirty for the Peach Salts and zero for the juice and Grenadine when you take the proportions and you get the average Proof of this drink you come in fifty one proof or twenty, five percent alcohol. This is a far departure from last week's mock five in the only drink that I can think that's anywhere near there is maybe a port. To type of fortified wine but even that's only twenty percents off. All.

"On K, G O. Well, those of us that are parents are used to dealing with twelve year olds kids don't live that long. I know that's horrible to say. But of course, we have a twelve year old in the White House. And he couldn't he shut the shut the country down literally the government down for more than a month. And did it. It was all for moot. Because he's going to sign a he's he's going to sign this Bill that the Senate and house I have have constructed and then declared this national emergency. It's I don't know what it'd be like to be in congress and have to deal with that. But this our next guest. Does he is a congressman from the tenth district? Karen, california. Congressman John thanks for taking the time. And now it's been a long busy day for you. What what what are your thoughts on this declaration of this impending declaration of national emergency? Support. First of all there is no national emergency. You take a look at what is actually happening at the border. These caravans are made up of mothers and children. They're not. I mean, this is a danger to the nation. I don't think so. And they're all coming here to seek asylum legally through the ports of entry. It's just a sham. It's a Banerjee wall per campaign promise, and it is a gross violation of the separation of powers in the constitution, which is very very clear. Congress representatives of the American people that decide what the taxes are going to be and how that money is going to be spent to that power appropriation to the point congressman. Yeah, the money. He's gonna use is money. You guys appropriated wherever he gets it from. Well, it's money that the American taxpayers have. So don't comes out of their pocket. It's not the Mexican government to Spain for Mexico. It's the American taxpayer so much for campaign promise. But it's also a specific projects all across the nation that had been vetted been determined to be essential to protect life and property. Pearce's though, the principal target that the president's going for is the disaster recovery funds that we appropriated and data last spring, and maybe even some of the doors from the previous years. So these are projects that are determined to be essential to protect American life and property, whether it's in California, they're major projects in California. There's the south bay project. We know the Caesar rising. We know that down in the Santa Clara area that there's gonna be flooded an survey round Sacramento the most dangerous city in America reflecting the Sacramento. It's a two billion dollar project. So takes money out of their money intended to protect Americans and go build a vanity wall along the border. It is terrible. Congressman Crenshaw or the the he had a little bit of fame there for a while on Saturday Night Live remember when one of the comedians made fun of the high patch that he wears he was in the news a few weeks ago talking about he better not take money from hurricane Harvey relief. And it's going to somebody's gonna feel the pinch. Whether they exactly there's four billion dollars for for Texas, Houston area. There's florida. There's a up and down the east coast all across America. There are increasing incidents disasters. In my view completely tied to climate change. Which the president denies is happening. Interest goes on and on and it makes it's terrible public policy. And it is clearly contrary to the constitution. We should never have nor do they ever intend to have an imperial president. We don't have kings around here that have to do anything. They want to do what do you say to your colleagues like Devin Nunes, and others said that have tied their wagon to this guy. I mean, he's obviously you saw the report today McCabe when he was the head of the FBI they discuss with Justice the possibility of invoking the twenty fifth amendment. You don't just do that willy nilly. There's something wrong with this guy. I mean, we'll talk to you Republican colleagues about this. They're concerned they're concerned. Private conversations is getting in and out of the elevator walking here and there in a private conversation. They are deeply deeply concerned. And this particular issue of a declaration of a national emergency department would be they don't like it. Because of their projects are at risk. There's one bite in in California lake Isabela on the current river. Just upstream from Bakersfield, there's a very serious earthquake issue with regard to the safety of that dam. There's about one hundred forty million dollars downstream whose district Kevin McCarthy. He is the ranking. He's the leader of the Republicans. We want him to stand up for the constitution for his power is leader. And not just bend over for for Trump and kiss his reign. No, this is a very real issue. And other Republicans have got to stand up against this president with regard to all of the. Frog we've never had a presidency with so much fraud. And we've never had a person that is engaged in so much. Personally. We do Madison Wyoming, congressman, it's hard. It literally is hard to go through a four hour show every day with Nikki. Now, we do the show. And it's it's so overwhelming. I can only imagine. I mean, you your job your days twenty five hours long, and I get that. And it's a it's a a yeoman's job of trying to carry the this third of the government with you guys. And I I really appreciate it. But for the rest of us in America that have very little power to talk on the radio. But the average guy listens and he looks he just wants to go home and go what happened in my country. Exactly. Right. And you know, you get beaten enough, you know, you just kind of think that's the way it is. And unfortunately, we hear day after day after day another reputation of a tweet that is a flat out lie. We hear about another issue of fraud corruption and pretty soon, you're just shrug your shoulders or yeah. Yeah. It's the same old stuff with the same old stuff is pretty damn important because it is really the most powerful position in the world occupied by a mandate is clearly corrupt that doesn't simply cannot speak to sentences without lying on one or the other. It is. We simply cannot become accustomed to it. We have to maintain. Our our outrage we have to maintain or distance from it and say, this is not right shoulders and walk away. And I can tell you that the Democrats are not going to walk away. We're gonna do the investigations we're gonna do improperly at the end of the day. We'll see where it all comes from. We're gonna make damn sure that Muller's destination is completed and public. Have you guys voted on the spending Bill? It is almost eight thirty. So in the next ten minutes. Answer's yes. We will. It'll be on its way to the president. Well, thank you. You made some news for us here. One last thing before I let you go because it's a happy Valentine's Day, by the way. I forgot to mention I guess looking forward to getting home to my the love of my life. Oh, daddy. You went to Harvard Business School, right? I when I hear the president who was supposedly went to work, although his his professors say wasn't the best of students, and I look at the the economy they're selling this assist. Supply-side economy has how you're smart guy. How do we explain to Americans the importance of demand-side economy, and what government can really do? How do we get the cynicism out of government? Again, you know, the the cynicism of people towards government. How do we allay that? Well, I through the election process. I think California's have done a terrific piece of work in selecting really quality people. I was with Harley Rueda who replaced. Roy Barker who was one of the one of the jokes around here. Putin's Putin servant the. California's well, he was California's elected really a good crop of people are Democrats there still are a couple of Republicans around that are that are quality saw for people that are willing to stand up too. Many of them have simply come under the Trump curse frightened of fighting. Trump will take them on it. And they've got reason to be frightened because Trump is successfully taking on Republicans. Caused them to lose the rest of them are somewhat cowed by of that. But I think that that's going to change sorts of the American public. You'll be discerning about the care. The character of the capabilities of people those of us that run for office and bottom line. We really do have a constitution that has worked to even more difficult times in the present. And it will continue to be there. And if we educate ourselves about chevik, judge civics, educator, selves, well and. Wilkins turnhout. Okay. He'll be rough spots for sure. And we're certainly in one. Now, I like you Spitzer thank you for being with us. Go go does your wife have a great night. And thank you for taking the time to speak with this year. Okay. Thank you Bye-bye, again, congressman John German D on on just you can hear the frustration in his voice, right? I mean just sense that and and I you know, I can only imagine what those conversations are like when you run into somebody. And they look at each other like holy crap. Oh, absolutely. And you know in the Republican whip if you don't whip does exactly what it sounds like they do you get all the people in your party in line. You you do what we say, and they will threaten you with things like a primary opponent. And taking a soft money away from your campaign. And so I mean, that's another reason why public financing would create a third party automatically it would create if we if we had public financing elections. The whip would have no power anymore because what they're doing is directing money at an opponent of yours inside the party, if you're like in a primary they could tell you you won't be more than two years. You do exactly what we say. That's something that we you know again. All these issues, which because of the time, you know, Walter Cronkite used to go, that's the way it is. But it was twenty two minutes. There's no way. No. That's not the way it is. And today we have twenty four hour twenty four seven CNN everything else. And it's still can't wrap. It's head around everything. There is. We have our next guest. This is such an amazing woman. She's a woman that when she was a young person she was involved with a man and had a baby and he was abusive to her. So she left him, and it's about her life. She wanted to be right or had to put that off. And since then she's written a book it's called made. And it's about working at the working class people under middle class in this country. That are struggling and her her book is amazing. I've heard interview I actually interviewed earlier and had a technical problem. And it was it was earlier today. So this is my second interview with her today, but Nikki gets to be in on this one. And it's just amazing stuff. You will be inspired. And I tell you at the end of the interview like when people go to see your book signing, she has a book signing tomorrow night in Petaluma people wanna hugger, that's how you're gonna feel after you hear this woman. Her name is Stephanie land the book is called made. And she'll be our guest next here on Caja, Franklin.

"Been really fun. We going down to Atlanta here in all kinds of different voices. And you know, I played golf yesterday. Copes you know, what I did in in good morning to Cope's as we await the hookup down there in Atlanta. You know, what I did when I play golf yesterday, buddy. I thought a Morten Andersen. Just Dame for the middleman disdain for the mid size. Just aim for me. I had a birdie. I made a rare bird for me on this whole at this point. What do I do? I said Morten Andersen. Dame for the middleman and it went in. How 'bout his technique for kicking field goals during a time out? I find the one drunk. I understand I aim right? Adam sounds pretty cool. It's hard to hit the upright and how he did. Yeah. Yes. Just remember everybody out there in life. Morton Anderson told you aim for the middle. That's the thing. Now, we hooked up down to guest line down to a radio or. No, yes. No. Maybe so okay. Well, we'll continue to wait. Because I heard about went Emmett Smith. Do you want to have a bad memories? That's bad memories. Especially that Ninety-two game. For some reason. I want really stoppable it's to quote, Adam Horowitz, the king ad rock and the beastie boys in sabotage. I got this blank in foreign in my side, Murph, and that's how I feel about Emmett Smith in the ninety two NFC championship coach you a little young to remember the power of an Emmett Smith. What they call it. Believe the lead draw. Right. Wasn't that the play? They ran of line. They had to is is unbelievable, dude. What do you want? Larry allen. Nate newton. Who'd gone to and a out the ball and Blair Yellen, lawn fools off. They absolutely blew fools off the ball in the Niners couldn't handle it. They tried to bring in a Chris Doleman. Roy Barker you name it. But yeah, man that was a tough day. I'm looking at the ninety two or to do the ninety two nine thousand nine hundred playoffs and tell you what do you think he gained in that game? I would say he went for a hundred. I would that's my guess an annoying one hundred ten yards chunks. See here. I got it right here here for you, buddy. Twenty thirty to twenty poly thirty to twenty seven in the in the fourth quarter and Emmett Smith Troy twenty four thirty four three twenty two two touchdowns. No picks a great game. Holy moly. Nice lines. Steve twenty five or thirty five three thirteen one touchdown to picks. Oh. Man. He got to be nice to Steve don't you? Where's the rushing come on? Where's the Russian guys? Can't find it can find on my here. It is. I'm sorry. Twenty four for one fourteen. Yeah. I knew he went north of a Honda because we needed. I remember in touch. What I remember Murphy's? We needed to make stops in the fourth quarter. Because I think rice had scored a touchdown late in the fourth and we're getting kind of close, and then they just started running Smith ten yards move the chain called at rice scored a cut a twenty four twenty as heartbreaker, man. And then they just methodically marched down the field and scored a touchdown in Emmett Smith. Just cat burn the clock and cat moving the chains. Earlier in the fourth quarter. He had caught a sixteen yard touchdown to go twenty four to thirteen who ask them to do that? He also ran in for five yards early to turn a seven three nine or lead into a ten seven Cowboys lead. You know what I mean Johnston had a touchdown. And it was at home with bad memories, man. But anyway, before we joke that I was thinking about like how bad is it that then he breaks that rushing record? He's rocking one of those ugly. Arizona cardinals. That's a travesty. We can make a long list of the top twenty most inappropriate uniforms worn by legends. You know, Shaun Alexander in that weird. Like, shiny teal. Breaking the touchdown record. What was it? He had like the most touchdowns into Seattle. Thirty-seven touchdown Rb you out of Alabama. But anyway, let's make the formal good morning to Cope's after the leadoff spot. And good stuff to tell us for the six o'clock crowd. The actor Luke Wilson came in Desmond's, both your mom and my sister. Yeah. Yeah. He was good. He was a lot of fours. His whole kind of energy your vibe. It's funny because I think it's exactly how you'd expect it like I don't want to say he's got a dry sense of humor. But he's like he's just kind of up here, man. Like, he's got a little McConnell. Hey to him sorta cool, but DC as Jeremy Giambi figure paalea, Luke Wilson Owen Wilson. No, no. I think he's got his own thing going. It's actually older. In fact, I think in terms of career fame career success feel like he surpassed the other one at this point. Right. Les? Interesting. Like, where's interesting? No. I would I think oh, and this is certainly the biggest when Vince Vaughn wanted to crash a wedding. He didn't call Luke. I mean, so say he called Owen. Okay. So that's pretty good, man. Hey, the cameo on meet the parents is off the charts. Say I got in early on some biotechs just your portfolio, Greg. Oh, my God JC. Yes. You're in Iraq. What you people call a hope? Doc to believable, man. Yeah. Layer lacquer this morning. At one point. I think he says gosh things just gone. So great right now. Stiller's over there. Made this from longshoremen and Cape Cod. So the dog with the Paul because he has a little pause. This is so bad. Because that's when Greg tells me. Goes. Yeah, I'm a nurse. It's good to give back Dogwood as little Paul. I just felt like I wanted to do something. Craig candy. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So anyway, copes warriors man and giving give me a little I confess to sleep in a little bit on Ben Simmons is career arc LSU. Obviously, you know, one top draft pick, obviously. But did was sash all over them from Australia days, or she was pretty fired up that he was he was named an all-star yesterday. She came home with that knowledge. Neither way it was her push notification dot a u. Yeah, right. Yeah. It's time. We get this out in the open. If we should maybe take some calls on this. So called girlfriend Sasha hates the warriors eight away Cam VR. She loves the dubs because when she got here bogut was the center. Yeah. So she's her and was deli in Moraga. Yeah. Well, no, no, no. He was already in the NBA. They some Aussies shirts. And she's a Patty mills, she loves. I mean Joe angles. Mary's deal. He knows about the pipeline. She does she's all about it. Yeah. Yeah. By the way, quietly the USF coup on Saint Mary's. This year has been the reversal of a twenty year narrative Hattab and at some point. Yeah. You think which got me thinking actually about this whole NBA stuff because I true, I truly believe there's no way. Kevin Durant going to the New York Knicks. And yet I listened to the Golic and wingo, and they were and I was like come on dudes. Then I got to work and propped up my laptop and there's the athletic Sam amick, bro. Get get used to it. This could go down. I'm like, whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. What you think happen is it? And then I started thinking what if it does not start thinking about the rats fleeing off the ship of the world where is gonna look like if Durant leaves? Taran cousins lead. And then you're talking about dream on being gone after next year. What are we looking at chase? I am. I am I paying thousands and thousands of dollars watch Jacob Evans, the third lay bricks at the same way. No, not tell you why. Because the same way that I totally I have invested all my trust and Bill check when it comes to these big games. That's the same way. I feel about lake of lake obey can take any of this line down. So if guys jumped ship jumping Joey just gonna chill he's gonna move heaven and earth to bring in some new just to show, you how the influence of Paul MAC in your life. You know, it's been a great. We're coming up on a thirteen year anniversary this month. Let's candlelight dinner. Let's go of that ten year party. Yeah. Well pauline. I tried so hard to have a ten year party fell through every every turn it fell through. Remember? I think we can talk openly at this tried so hard now it's thirteen and we still haven't had our ten what happened. This'll be fun. We'll get the listeners get Ronnie Sergio venues, dude where people say here Sweetwater, we're gonna like have music and stuff and like we're gonna jam have cocktails divide a young intern. Adam Copeland would've been phenomenal. And by the way, just to get this out in the open one little memory. We've never even talked about this, Murph. I won't name names. But we can talk like adults, right? Just refrains. Here are one of our old general managers. I remember at one point. I think it was you and me and Andretti. Our buddy and sales manager upstairs hanging out rapid, and our old GM sticks his head Anne Dougherty goes. Hey, guys. What are we talking ten year? Do you? Remember that glass? What are we talking ten year continue? What are we getting done? Yeah. Let's get some movement on that. Anyway, the point is you're so much my head. I was playing golf yesterday enjoyed shout Richmond country club, and we are stopping at the turn paulie for a little bite to do some stuff. At the Turkey led the group behind play through a relaxing day. We were gentlemen yesterday. And we were talking about chase center and one of the things coach gyms like ones that thing. Open. Like, I think they got a concert set for September. That's the word, right? Yeah. And they're like who's going to play and I immediately jumped into polemic we're bringing I said, no Joe LEGO or bring them back Elvis Elvis pelvis present from the dead. No question revived Frank Sinatra. We've decided we go with the king and the chairman. But I've got prints frozen in the freezer in my backyard. We're gonna we're gonna follow them out. We're going to bring them back to life. He he's gonna he's gonna play purple rain. Petty in Bowie. Yeah. Right. Paulie MAC's interested. So we're going to bring pig pen back to life. Grateful Dead from the sixty pin pig pen back is hardly for the sixty plus crowd pick it up. Do love light thirty minute version. Yeah. And for the younger crowd to pack and begging will be will be will be revived. Now when it comes to Joe man, he backs up what he says. The Golden State.

Some information about Cardi B that I was not aware of. And I wanna replay that for you really really quickly can. Apparently, the dancer was accused of sleeping with offset and so- Cardi B and her crew which apparently have some affiliations with the bloods, they say as Cardi B cardigan backyard again is Her name. name is that who that is this is there someone called cardigan yard again. Wow. I think that's a name very just read it. Yeah. Here's the thing. And I used to I'm learning in the old days. I'd be like, yeah. Sure. I would just agree with that. Because I would assume he would knew what he was talking about. But this time if you heard me there, I'm just neutral. I don't know. I I'm just I'm backing away from this. This is all you you own this one. Yeah. Turns out that that information was part of a big online joke. It was a big mean if you will on social media where someone made a joke about rappers real names, it started with one guy at riders of Rohan who posted the following tweet ice cubes real name is ice Landik cubicle. That was the joke. You see? And then a bunch of other people started piling on those jokes by coming up with the real names of other rappers one of them, which was Cardi B's real name is cardigan backyard again, which is not the case at all her real name is a big Callas. Alabama's are. So that would not be a real thing. But any up being a discerning reader of the news, apparently just takes it all take And take it it. in. I was just scrolling through Facebook and puffed up. That's true. Is. Here's some of the others, by the way. I don't know if any believed these two or not, but these are some of the other real rapper names that showed up on Twitter over the weekend. J cole. They said his real name is Julius coleslaw that that is not true. Either Eddie face you wanted to know snoop Dogg. They said Israel name was snoopers Doggett. No. That's not it at all bow. They said his real name was Bauer to. Wow, weird is not the case t pain t pain, they claimed his real name was Tylenol pain relief. It is not in fact Tylenol pay really offset. They said his real name is fiftieth century that is not true, Eddie and little pump. They said his name was Lillian pumpernickel. And that is also. You run across any of those Eddie, I want you to know, none of those in fact altogether like that it's obviously joke. Pops up here there. It's like could take that is true cardigan backyard again. All right coming in at number six six. Well, I think Lucas hip Ken said it best in his Email. My vote is for the introduction of the holiday holiday jingle the original without the backing music. Yes. John Cooperman made a name for himself this year by sending in the jingle for holiday or holiday the segment that we opened the show with and by the way, thanks to Brandon Rohbock who suggested that idea that we make it a regular segment and John Cooperman rose to the challenge that took it upon himself to come up with a jingle for that segment. Forevermore making Eric Marrero legendary moment in Ralph report history. Let's start the show the way we do every episode by taking a look at the big calendar of holidays, national international holidays, or so they claim we take a look at all of them on this day. And we let you know what we say okay to and what we say is a holiday this. Was suggested by the way, by guy named Brandon ROY Barker. So I do want to give him credit for the architect. He was the architect of the idea to do this in every episode Brandon. Thanks so much. But now, I've got an extra. Thank you to send out to John Kupperman. John sent in this Email says hi route been a listener.

It's suffering from conflict Boko haram is best known for kidnapping and brazen terrorist attacks, but it's also causing acute hunger. People have been forced off land. And now depend on handouts. "I think is basically what his ad level. That's good. Right. We don't want Russian spies all agree on that. He has raised. I think twice as much. I think he has raised maybe more than twice as much as Rohrabacher has so far, and he has spent three times as much and he still has a plenty of money on hand. So get ready for all the ads going for the next two and a half weeks, which are good for radio stations and TV, but they make me crazy. You know? What's funny is we get we'll get letters emails from people and tweets angry social media saying why are you playing this? Instead, it's like. Why don't you shut out? You can't you can't even legally shut out. The assumption is because you'll hear. Pro prop six you'll hear against prop sick. Well, why don't why do you put props anti prop six on? When you got John and Ken on one side, saying how great it is. You can't you can't just say, hey, we don't like your ads and also here's a newsflash the radio and television industries our business and the way the station stay on the air is through advertising dollars. And that's why this time of year is just a windfall because I suppose you can raise your rates, right? I mean, there's so much competition to buy time. Well, they're actually there's there's legality tied into it where it has to be a certain rate all the political ads are always at a certain way. And you can't say no to a political ad weight. You get to charge. Do you have to charge less than you would for solar panel thing or whatever the windows? I'm not sure what the exact specifications are. But there is a set this ad ad time in political seasons or do you? Just don't have nothing worse. Yeah. You don't have to do any make goods, obviously because you're just fully booked with. It's funny. How the the assumption is the station has a bent the station hosts have been as a whole doesn't. Well, you can you with your FCC license? Can you wouldn't matter is just no way? There's no way to run a station like that. But what's interesting too? Is that Democrats not just in this district? But in several districts in California and across the country are pouring money in. Outspending? Dem republicans. There are potentially six GOP congressional seats up for grabs in strongholds here in California in this election. And so it's all about getting the base out traditionally in the midterm elections. Democrats don't come out enforce the way Republicans stupid after Brett Cavanaugh, can you get enough anger going? I mean, certainly the president is out there every time every day every day. Although I don't think I haven't heard him stumping for Dana Rohrabacher, by the way. Roy Barker has a new Rohrabacher. I have always times name spell Rohrabacher. He has a new ad out. Which shows that even I'm not sure I don't assume he voted for ObamaCare. But he's pushing the fact that hey, I'm like you. I'm all for keeping a coverage for preexisting conditions because my daughter had leukemia. So that's a new tactic a campaign tactic for him. Like, I'm gonna fight for you. He. Was on a bus trip with some seniors trying to go to a medical marijuana dispensary. The other day that CNBC was following along. He showed up for that. We'll see going for the marijuana. Or was it was it a political situation? It was a political situation. But he hasn't made the same kind of traditional outreach that he would have before when his seat was safe. I would assume. Oh, yeah. I gotta imagine that he's very where that his seat is. Teetering shall we say? Well, if you believe polls he's neck and neck with Harley Rueda, I'm going to catch up with Ruta next week as I prepared a cover election stories for CNBC. We're going to have more politics throughout the show next. We're gonna talk about Disneyland next door in Anaheim. And later, we will talk to the mayor of Huntington beach. "This. We're talking about that. But can I ask you, paulie, MAC and with the help of an atom Copeland? You guys made thing you want and we debut in the two thousand eighteen NFL season. Kyle Shanahan gets his first took him ten weeks last year. Remember ten weeks? They got a week to their one and one. Yeah. There a game out in the west. They're tied for the NFC wildcard spot RA wins in the NFL. You just take him of Murph. I love it. Why not in this is all setting up the beautiful sound debut? You know when the giants win, which is rare. We get training day. It's all good baby. It's all good. When the warriors win, which is rather frequent. We get a key and Peele war whoop. But now, I believe today Paul do you wanna take it from air letters thirty Detroit Lions twenty-seven? I don't know if there's a better combination than Bobby. We're meeting a Tim Ryan, so good. I want it so nice. I want it to once again forty Niners. Thirty Detroit Lions twenty-seven. What do you guys think on the cache creek text line? Let us know four one five eight AM we're trying. Yes. It's like a team effort to because I got I got to play one of them in kopecks a play the other one. It's very dependent on everybody being on their toes. Is it going to be is it a potential for mishaps goes, oh, it's Laden with potential for mishaps? I'd say there won't be interceptions in between us though. I think we're gonna have a paulie MAC to cope connection throughout the season kinda like Jimmy Geeta. Matt breed on third and oh, hey, listen. Get lucky daft punk sang it get luck. I thought you were going to quote Loverboy which is just as good or the Joe boxers from the eighties. Just got lucky yet luck. I'm gonna keep it a little current daft punk. I see I'm up all night to get lucky. Yeah. You know? All right. You can even play that as a bed for the rest of the segment. I'm kidding. You don't have to get a funky groove. The robot helmets on. Here's what I'm going to say. And I'm making excuses or whatever. But listen when they were ahead thirty two thirteen. Well, there's the problem. But go ahead that see that's what people are upset today. Thirty two thirteen you feeling pretty good. Very very so keep that in mind, keep that in mind like that's the same team that was ahead. Thirty two thirds you let that team get right back in the game in almost steel that game from you. So recent events gets me. That's what Tim Ryan was a great line. He goes NFL, man. It used to be you're only as good as your last game. Because nowadays, you're only goes your last quarter three quarters do have to learn how to close though that is going to be important as a season goes. I mean, no kidding aside. It's great that they got the win. Oh, intuitive been really troublesome. Especially considering what they gotta go do next Sunday. So you take your win. And you feel good about it. But at the same time tighten tighten things up late in the ball game. We need to pass rush on any given quarterback too. The secondary to me is is going to be something to watch. Well, listen what what upset you more is. My question the lack of a pass rush or the or the or the really really really soft. So not only did we know that the lines. We're gonna pass on every down in the fourth quarter. We also knew after a few plays that he was gonna pass to the same side of the field every quarter because over and over about Richard Sherman commanding so much respect that Stafford just shut the spigot off over there guys bunny. Joe Paul has at the game. I actually watched on one play. Sherman's guy. I forget it was number nineteen. I forget what maybe it's Robert Senator. He he he didn't even like run his route. He was like an upcoming. It was crazy. So you know that he's throwing so you can pin your ears back, and they still couldn't bring them down. And you know, he's throwing to your side of Keller Witherspoon and safeties. See the safeties bear some blame here to entire secondary. Yeah. Yeah. Well except for Sherman. Well, except right. So let's and Robert solid could have drawn something up scheme something up. He just does not like to blitz. He believes in his four-man rush. Which is you know, it's great. If you've got guys they can execute that the four men rush. It's great. If you have real pass rush specialist types who can put pressure have to sack the quarterback just flush them out or pressure can sack him great. But you're way more likely to fluster quarterback when you're in the backfield and our front was not getting back there. Now any so you're where's deforest Buckner? You know, where Solomon Thomas your number three pick in the draft. You'll get louder and louder man is he doesn't start to show people something that noise is going to get louder the way I recommend everybody to listen to the forty Niners on the radio because the post game. I drove home. Would you get Krueger Krueger lover Krueger who love I love a Krueger on a break tone. Gary from Daly city to hang on Gary from Daly city, hang on. We'll be right back as Jerry Shaw. Ronin necessa Gary sit tight, but Dennis Brown is really good. Not me on breaking news. But he gave an extensive breakdown of why Solomon Thomas is playing the wrong position to listen to have him as an edge rusher. He's not he's not built for that. It's not his skill set. He should be an interior guy, a D tackle. So he's saying he's calling out, you know, Kyle Shanahan and Robert soliver playing them in the wrong position. But the bottom line is man. We talk. We went to every era of our fandom. Go back to the gold rush with Tommy hearten Cleveland kneeland into Fred dean in the early eighties and then into Charles Haley in the mid to late eighties and then into even into Ricky Rickey Jackson. We can go Chris Doleman in the late nineties, y install 'field Alden Smith. Roy barker. Roy Barker Chris Doleman, I mean right now that great, Pat. And I it's talking is driving in listen to them talk about tonight's game. The bears the Seahawks and Rex Ryan was talking about Khalil Mack. And he's like, it's Tim and von Miller one two he's like these are your closers in football. These are your closers. They closed the saying. The the forty Niners are kind of like running Mark Milan-San out there too close. You know what? I mean. I'm riffing. I'm riffing. I'm ki he's actually pitching. Well, yeah. Actually pitching quite well because they're playing meaningful ball. I was just about to say with all the pressure on him. Boy, it's oppressive. Well, listen, can I tell you? I had a good time. Levi's? Sure, you know, it was a beat body. Joe? You're a beat. It was a great day commerce day. I mean, seventy two degrees, Murph. What is it? Brian Murphy eat at the he goes what I'm curious about. We hear about the crab sandwiches famously. We hear about the day. All this. What is a Murphy sitting down at the give you an interesting situation here. Ten-year-old son Declan Murphy's been to a million baseball games light. But there's only been to a handful of football games. First of all there are far fewer of them. Second of all you're busy, and you can't get there. So we've been to a couple of cow games and a couple of Stanford games. But give get into the vise. You know, it's a tough deal until you experience was that your first trip there. Now my second actually third. Okay. I've been there. Pangs? I miss the stick. I'm saying every time I'm there. I missed the state. Stick. When I drive over things. Murph. We have to get over it. Right. No not. If like, you're like me now that you just hold cling to something forever. That's me for better or worse. Driving to the game. And we're leaving from the north bay and we're driving. We were just passing like SFO candlestick and one of the kids in the cars. We're not there yet. No pets are ways to go candy innocence of a kid, right? But but anyway, so. Declan? Murphy says his daddy. What do you order at a football game? By the way, you can order where the heck, you wise. I can't. But what's what's what's the traditional? Baseball's a hot dog and a beer and green glass. Said well, really the tradition is to eat before the game at a tailgate outside Grenada's up, by the way. How do by the way, let me tell you what I'm just saying the NFL crowd, the AT and T park crowd. And the NFL crowd have been known to have a couple of drinks. Different demographics. Yes. There was a guy who looked like Jeremy Newberry, and he was fully touted up and down and we were going through security line. And he was waiting to go through that. He got a hold of security Bullhorn. Now, I don't know why security guard the Bullhorn or whatever and dude he had the Bullhorn on. And we'll shout at the top of his lungs..

"Three sixty five or summer. Well, but only got only got six hundred and five ponies under the two in that drive down to your to your San Jose home is is just a splendiforous experience. Do okay. People are upset in the NFL. You gotta win. No apologies. Right or. No. You're right wins win. But I I get it. And I think that I think it's just the opposite of last week where you know, definitely the team played well in spots the defense was and certainly with the defense started slow last week at Minnesota finished real strong. It feels like just kind of the opposite narrative this week in terms of what happened started strong and didn't finish very good. And it's almost like what finish poorly. It's almost like night talk to you guys about it last week. You're only as good as your last performance in this league. It's getting so so much writing. You're only as good as your last quarter only gives you last possession, right? How people see you? So I thought it was you know, I love the running game. I knew there was going to be some running opportunities there the offensive line. I think did a great job. You know, there's times Jimmy holds the ball to long times that I'm sure there's gonna be some. And who knows I mean, I don't know exactly what happened on a lot of those routes. But almost thirty short spent a lot of those routes and trying to run away for man coverage. Those take a little bit of time for those guys to clear open and and Jimmy trust is line. He's gonna sit in there. So six axes. Way too many. And then at the end that thank God that you know, I think it was killed at force it offensive. But that pick six was just my heartfelt total the floor when that happened. I'm like, oh, no. I was lucky not to be sitting in one. Oh four end zone north end zone. And I had a good angle on the flag. So I saw the flag real early. See I didn't see the flag until after Jimmy falon in front of them. It's all good baby. And I saw quandary digs. I think was the name of the guy and he just had his shoulders were slumped and his head was hanging. And I was like, that's the gap. I was point. And I was like that's the guy. He's got the body language. He newest anyway. So look Jimmy Jimmy said nine starts, and I said this yesterday, and he's certainly got all the tools and we've seen all that. He needs to see more needs to do more news to play more. And I I mean, I've talked to tattoo training camp about it. I've talked about it on the TV broadcast and like young quarterbacks Mandeville they'll use those is disturbed people down. And there was a couple of times are already in this season that he that he's done that. So he'll work out. He understands he's gotta steer some guys with what his is and move people out of windows and stuff, but the one that breed. I mean, he never took his eyes off right from the snap. I mean is right on Breda. And you could see that backer was just sifting and waiting and reading the eyes and then and then undercut it. So those things will get better. I thought there was a lot of good performances to talk about Preto phenomenal. In terms of some of those runs peer, really good stuff. Still waiting on. Come alive. I think a big part of that was how they defended him yesterday and and real clever with their blitzes, man. I gotta give I gotta give Patricia some credit on that. Because what they were doing is they sent four and as a matter of fact p Carroll invented is blitz like twenty years ago, and he called it. The coffeehouse blitz MAC, you'll like this one they were sitting in a coffee shop one day him, and his coaches, and he like three people walk in the coffee shop. Get through the front door change their mind walkout, then change their mind. Again, it's been around and come back. And he goes, let's call that the coffeehouse blitz. Yes. Yes. And have been made, by the way, Tim. Great. That actually could have been me on a Saturday morning. Very confused trying to figure out every Saturday morning. Right. So. Because you didn't want the coffee probably just because you were looking for that change in your pocket that wasn't there. Oh, yeah. There it is. There's that quarter. And like is that a quarter? Now, that's Lynch. Yeah. I see you doing it the TV repairman Polly had shirt on when he came in though. I'll tell you that I got note Nicolette. Hey, tim. So. So. Matt Patricia is a rocket scientist. Then after all. And and he's a copy scientists to because that was I mean a couple of those sex the Christian Jones won. I mean, he he. Jumped up and baited like he was coming in the snap of the ball. He turns his whole back to the offense. Like he's running in coverage. Turns around the coverage had declared itself to where the open lane was going to be. And then they run up the quarterback. I will. I'll bet your three of those sacks were on slow. Developing trailer blitzes with the the Packers just waiting for the protection that declare. Once it does they go find the land, and you got a pretty clever by Patricia. Well, we're talking to Jim Ryan and the guest line forty Niners win thirty two twenty seven because they were head thirty two thirteen. Everybody's feeling the fourteen o run by the lions and the late flag that saved the Niners. Tim, I was talking about getting lucky in sports. You know, it happens. The warriors were about to lose game one of the NBA finals when JR Smith got a rebound and had an easy put back, and he thought the Cleveland was a heads. We dribbled out to half court. So you got to get lucky sometimes man, and and that defensive home shape kinda funny thing of the Super Bowl year. I don't know five years ago, or whatever it was how many times the ball just. Happened to bounce our way. Right. And that's a big part of it and the football gods are a big part of it for sure, but we gotta be able to close the door Murph on people defensively. And that was the question coming in. That was the question yesterday. We get to that point thirty thirteen in the game. I'm like all right here, we go man Kam, the defense close the door. Yeah. They couldn't and part of it's rush. Although I think the rush I mean guys I watch tape yet. But it it looks like guys aren't having a problem getting there. It's just breaking down. And you're a finishing quarterback down or be putting the brakes on. So you're not five or six yards by him. And then he, you know, shuffled up in in the throwing lane. And then there's nobody and he's got an extra two seconds done load. The football Kello clearly had a rough day. Adrian Colbert looked like he was getting a little nosy at times in the deepest of the deep Jimmy ward came in at a bit of a rough time mean the touchdown the fifteen I think it was fifteen yards. I think it was the one that got him within three tight end. You know, it's classic cover two-zone on defense and work over three team, but jumped in cover to right there, and they're going to throw a receiver out to the flat to see if they can suck that corner up and then throw the corner route in the tight end right behind him before the safety can get over. And that's exactly what happened however in in any early in a game or in a lot of situations. Jimmy just gonna kinda feather in between those two Jimmy was in there for a fellow at that time and he's going to hold off. That's a little bit and hope that depending on down this and everything else and hope that they see Adrian Colbert can get over the top. Well, it's certain third and goal from the fifteen. You got no reason to go snip that little flat route that's four or five yards past the line of scrimmage and Jimmy got a little note. Z and went covered the plot. And there was no way Adrian Colbert had enough time to get over the top to that corner route. So mental stuff the first one was a great call by by Jim Bob cooter. I think that's all on that one. Or certainly got gotta Callow, but that's tough on a Callow because he's got it is in the backfield. He's a run run support died and they caught him with an eye violation. Ran buying for that person that's down. So lot of the stuff was mental. And then as I said yesterday in the broadcast and. I'll tell you at some point this week when I see him like dude get the combat boots off the black boots and the black the black that okay? I heard you say. I know he's not slow. Echo. But no more combat boots fan. That's it. I heard you say that the veterans do to get an extra year they put white spots on. They look a little quicker. I saw I heard you say that I was like kind of like the black shoes. Ronnie used to wear. Yeah. I'll be Leopold. But you know, I mean. Ronnie wasn't in as much of a speed position. Obviously out there on the island played some of that. But Ronnie was doing people he needed the ankle sport. Tim, listen. I know you talked about it that you weren't as upset with the past respite. I am an old school. I was raised on the on the gold. Rush of a Tommy Hart at Cleveland Elam. I was then graduated to a Fred dean we moved onto a field cannon. Royal, ROY Barker a P appears Holtz. Larry Roberts hit me. And all that Smith is a rookie. I just need. And I was listening to Rex Ryan this morning talking about Khalil Mack. And von Miller. He's like these are the closers man, these guys close games out. And I'm like, so that's what we're looking for. I need the clothes. Do we need to start running the coffee house blitz or or what? Well, I'm sure we can get some clever little is going. But until you have that guy that's going to change protection and say all right there. He is. We gotta we gotta protect accordingly. Charles Alier, somebody like that coming off the edge Khalil Mack in Oakland. I think it was last year. Maybe we won defensive MVP. There was two plays two games. Where he they were walk-off sacks though. That's the closer you sack the quarterback and the game's over when you got to close the door at the don't have that guy. Still looking for that guy. Not sure how deep they were in on the Khalil Mack deal. That was a rich deal, obviously. But that was worth it as a pass rusher. They they gotta get it. And they still gotta do it. Whether that's you know, sometime in free agency in the off season or or via the NFL draft. They need a they need a bona fide war daddy on the edge ward, bona, fide war. Dan Mullen, by your colleague Guinness for sure gonna hear you guys. You must not listen to the radio, call did you see when the United Pacific railroad, just absolutely truck? But we played that. No. We played it. You're you're doing some curls this morning. We we we played it, and we laughed are. But often also heard it on the way home on the post game too. Yeah. Some good here. It is extinguished for anybody. I did not hear the glories here. It is Ryan right here..

And he was really good giving extensive breakdown on how how Solomon Thomas is playing in the wrong position. Is he's good on. How he is not an outside pass rusher. He is an inside tackle. And but he broke it down with extensive reasons physically weight height moves technique all that that I could not I can't do. But I was listening to Dennis it, absorbing it. All but yes, Sally Thomas continues to be guy. You took him with the number three pick overall in it. Appears now eighteen games in. This is not this guy was not worthy of the number three pick. He's not playing like he's playing like a nice like second or third round serviceable mean. Yeah. Right. It's not a bust in terms of his he can be on the field. "German thank you go to karen bass of california once again thank you mr chair and ranking member for holding this hearing i wanted to talk about the situation in central america and specifically would like to focus on el salvador i was listening to your responses mr ambassador about what we're doing to address the root causes and it seemed as though you're focused was a little bit on law enforcement and we spent a lot of time trying to address violence and crime related issues with they strictly law enforcement strategy in the united states and it hasn't fared very well so i wanted to know what you have done beyond law enforcement and i focus on el salvador because there's a lot of discussion about ms thirteen motto salvatore which is a gang that started in my city los angeles and we exported this problem to el salvador and so i want to know what responsibility we are taking for our contribution to the problem in el salvador thanks for the question and i think an element to this year should be fielded by my colleague from usa id are central america strategy yes it has a component of law enforcement to it but it is also designed to address the root causes of why people are leaving these country and or why people they seek to leave and this involves working with governments to improve the business climate the investment climate to create economic opportunity my colleagues usa id and at our economic sections in our embassies are working to help these countries attract investment attract and grow their economies so that people have less reason to have to light which is a catch twenty two because it's hard to do that with the gang violence so i wanna know since we exported the problem to el salvador i was wondering if we also exported some of our best practice we actually do have best practices in the united states of how to address gang violence there's a lot of examples of gang violence being reduced in a number of communities unfortunately we have not really taken a sustained investment in communities which is why we still have the problem so my question is are we exporting also some of our best practices and how to reduce gang violence well i can one of my colleagues from the bureau of international narcotics and law enforcement be better equipped and so that we can take that back and get you an answer as to what specifically were doing regarding gang not that i would appreciate that let me move onto another subject because like all of my colleagues and i'm sure all of us in congress deeply concerned about these children and i'm concerned that many of these children will never be reunited with their parents again and so there's a number of examples of parents who are deported and then not being able to find their children's since we did this in such a haphazard way and i my colleague over there mr roy barker a win the obama administration had the problem of unaccompanied minors which is different than taking children away at the border there was a big outcry about that and what was happening with those children but my question is i have heard of numerous examples of win the parents are deported number one if they're fortunate enough to find their children then what we are saying is now you have.

"It's were most likely to win in the thirty ninth are Gill Cisneros and Andy Thorburn Gill Cisneros has been leading in the polls say anything bad about them they are good candidates they are good people running but they have been lagging very far behind in the single digits in polling and the only two Democrats with a real chance or guilt cisneros and Andy Thorburn this is the thirty ninth forty-ninth in the forty ninth This is the race to fill the seat vacated by Congressional Pest Darrell Issa with this district is the northern coastal areas at San Diego County there are four Democrats running and again to Republicans who could easily come in first and second Clinton won the district by eight points but it's rated as a toss up so it's a little bit tougher than the thirty ninth based on the polling thus far there are three Democrats with a real chance of winning the top two spots Colonel Doug applegate Sarah Jacobs and Mike Levin Doug applegate is a retired marine who ran against ice in two thousand sixteen he lost by only sixteen hundred votes he was leading in the polls the beginning of the race but has since been trending downward he has been endorsed by the South Orange County Democratic Party Congress and she's been backed by Emily's list natural in a few members of Congress and she's been gaining in the polls over the last several months and then there's Mike Levin who's an environmental lawyer and former head of the Orange County Democratic Party he received fifty three percent of the state delegate support at the convention the Convention which is short of the sixty percent you need to get the official nomination he supported by the by a local indivisible chapter of the Sierra Club and members of the California congressional delegation like Adam Schiff and eric swallow this is another like very easily flippable district one of the reasons that is a retired and so we need a Democrat one of these top two slots so you know do some research on these three but I think you know those are the three with a chance of winning finally the California's forty eighth out a because it's the most Republican district and be because there are five Democrats running in to serious Republican contenders Roy Barker and another guy who were at the top of the polls so this is the district that could be a very very serious problem based on all the polling aggressive Democrats of America about ten congressional Democrats two of the Democratic candidates were running in this district and dropped ended indivisible about this endorsement because they're telling me you know the threshold and the criteria you need to meet to get not only local endorsement but the national ever since he jumped into the race and so they endorse them locally and they endorse them nationally so that's hardly Rueda Hans Kierstead is the other Democrat with a chance of winning he's a stem cells.
