"Evening, I'm Dimitri Sotis, and it's good to have you here tonight as we try to recover from the storms we've that been dealing with. Not much rain left in the DMV. We do have some darkened neighborhoods, though, for and people waiting the lights and the air conditioning to come back on, be able to use all of their appliances again and get on with life here. In Virginia, because of the storms, Dominion Energy is now reporting about a thousand customers without power in Loudoun County. Over in Fairfax County, the same utility, Dominion Energy, working on 1300 homes that are still out. Homes and businesses that are still out in Fairfax County. That is a reduced number pretty significantly over the past few hours. So they are getting those homes back online. Fairfax City with a thousand customers in the dark in Dominion, or Ford Dominion Power Energy. Meanwhile in Maryland, about 700 Pepco customers have no electricity in Montgomery County. 2500 Pepco customers in the dark in George's Prince County. In DC, nearly a thousand homes and businesses are in the dark with Pepco. We had County. Trees down in parts of DC tonight, including a home on Blagdon Avenue NW where a big tree down came on it. It is on our homepage at wtop .com. We had a home which suffered significant damage when a tree went through the second floor. Fortunately, the occupant was able to escape We have another incident of Mississippi Avenue SE where a unit indicated they have significant roof damage. That building has been evacuated. Numerous trees come down, many of them on vehicles. Vito Maggiolo with DC Fire and EMS. Stay with WTOP as we try to make repairs some here and get the power back on. For everyone, we're staying in touch with the utilities. There was one other serious effect of the storms. People trying to fly into and out of our area. The major airports tonight will Reagan start at National where at least 320 flights were delayed and about 140 flights were canceled today at Reagan National because of the severe weather. It's 1105 now to what's being called a senseless act of violence today. Five people are in the hospital three of them critically wounded after they were shot in Bladensburg this afternoon. WTOP's Matt Pittsburgh Chief of Police Tyrone Collington says five people leaving a funeral in one vehicle near the Peace Cross Memorial were approached by a second vehicle this afternoon just before things turned very violent. There was not an exchange between the two vehicles it was one vehicle that was shot at and struck multiple victims within that investigation of that vehicle. Reports that this was a targeted shooting are being investigated by Bladensburg police. They wouldn't let anybody get past that light and they wouldn't let anybody get past the other side of that bridge and it was just chaos. Sean Bailey works security at a nearby health clinic. He says all he could do was watch as dozens of police cars flew past his window. I've never seen anything like this, ever. In Bladensburg, Matt Kofax, WTOP News. We still don't know where a new FBI headquarters will be built in either Maryland or Virginia or when the General Services Administration will make the decision but we did learn the GSA is again changing the criteria to be used to decide who gets this big prize in our area. WTOP's John Doman The GSA says it will give greater weight to cost inequity as it considers where to build the FBI's new headquarters. In turn the GSA is putting less emphasis on proximity to facilities like Quantico as well as transportation access which included proximity to regional airports. Though all of that still does matter, however on the surface it appears to give a boost to potential sites in Greenbelt and Landover. After Maryland lawmakers long had complained the process was being rigged to favor the potential sites in Springfield, Virginia. Virginia Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine call the change concerning but remain optimistic. Springfield is still the best choice. "She and ray, I'm rally James this 1962 on VJ was a flip side for June Chandler. Chris Mayfield wrote it. The a side was you threw a punch, the answer record to Mary wells you beat me to the punch which Don covey wrote the answer. But it was interesting because rainbow became so popular as a flip side that later on constellation a couple years later in 1965, they rereleased rainbow 65, but frankly I like the a side better. You threw a lucky punch, but that's just me. All right, so we will get to things that just aren't on the shelves anymore because I was just about to happen to me twice in the last couple days. Just about to order some more croutons. I like rothbury farms. They're my favorite. And anyhow, get them at Walmart. And so I go to Walmart dot com and they're out of stock and I haven't seen them on any of the shelves in a while and I can't seem to find them. So I thought, not another one, because the one that was just a crushing blow to me is I had a favorite ALA alpha lipoic acid. And what I loved about it was a very small pill. It was also all naturally sourced, and I loved the company, answers from nature. They were a little Los Angeles area company that family owned been around since like 2008. And I realized I order in quantity. So the last time I actually ordered from these people was 2016. And so I'm down to my last bottle and last 20 or so pills. I think I'll get some more interest from nature's ALA. The company is gone. Just absolutely gone disappeared and I'm just heartbroken. And it seems more and more that I'm looking for things that I'm used to buying, and they've just disappeared from the shelves. And since I'm usually a quantity buyer, it'll be a while before I notice they're gone, so I can't even get the end of life stock, but my croutons better be coming back. I know my ALA won't be coming back because this company is just gone, but I'm hoping for the croutons. All right, so enough about that. And let's get on to Stacy and see what is going on in her life today. So Stacy, you need the saint Anthony prayer somewhere. What are you missing? Well, this is a crazy thing. It's a comb. I have in my personal IP at this home for years and years and years. And all of a sudden, I look at my, it's nowhere to be found. All right, so you need saint Anthony. Now, firstly, as you know, we use this as a secular prayer, but this actually is not a secular prayer, the real version of it. It's a Catholic prayer. And you get into all sorts of things that you probably won't care about. You just want your item. So here is and I understand that. I really do. So we'll just cut to the chase with the easy part, and we won't talk about saint Anthony being the perfect imitator of Jesus or any of that. We'll just we'll just cut to the chase and here we here we go. So I had it in front of me because I say this all the time and I thought, well, let me get it straight and now, of course, now that I am looking for this. Basically, saint Anthony Anthony, please come around, I'm looking for something that can not be found, please help me find and then mention what it is that you want. And see the Anthony. Yeah, so saint Anthony saint Anthony, please come around. Yeah, please come around. Something is lost and needs to be found. Needs to be found. Yeah, and then just tell them what you want. Say, saint Anthony, I've lost my comb. I need for you to help me find it. Last time I saw you, you can talk to as much as you want. And that's the deal. But, you know, it's a prayer for miracles as far as as far as that goes. And saint Anthony is the patron saint also everything, you know, when I go, oh my doctor's office calls. Yes. And my doctor, the nurse told me they heard about the doctor. What's the only good thing he said to me was how many pairs of diabetic shoes I'm allowed to and so I told Judy and she said, we want to know if the doctor was and everything. And I told her, so doctor Peterson, he's going to get me another doctor when I'm ready to go. Okay, good. And then. So everything actually, I was going to say, has worked out. Everything when I go to the foot factor and stuff, it's all under my health insurance and my Medicare. Right. So that's why I go to this with doctors because it's all under insurance Medicare. So that's great. Right. But I also have some requests. Okay. Okay, I would like, can you play Mark runs in Bruno Mars uptown funk? Okay. And also, you could pick it out another Alan Jackson. And another great Tina Turner, okay. All right. Do you have another? Oh, no, I'll leave that one go. Okay. So Alan Jackson Tina Turner and Mark ronson with Bruno Mars uptown funk. Right, great. And I did all my stuff on my legs and everything I wanted to tell you, Raleigh. I took off liking and said all that and I did my cleaning and my moisturizing. Good. So I did everything I was supposed to do. And as the wound healing, yeah, I mean, they look okay and you know, I just have to get my feet up and get this

"And I I think I even kind of understood the purpose and just how I think it's simplicity always really just hit me right in the fields. It is. It's one of those things took that. Was. It is a very simple idea, but it was like a home run right out of the gate. Like basically, what we do to produce Hydro electricity is almost an unchanged version. Of you know the waterwheel? Yeah. I mean, it's got fancier over the years. Yeah, but it's like and you know, we've talked about this twists. Any type of power showed that we've done whether it's nuclear power. I feel like we've done a lot of these. It all comes down to producing that mechanical energy to spend something to spend a turbine. Yeah. So, um, you spin this water wheel or turbine as we'll see, Um and there's a it spins on an axis. Well, if you insert an axle into the access, it will spin the axle and you can attach all sorts of cool stuff to that axle to make them spin, too. You can. You can insert more wheels and have them pressed down on stone as they rotate so you can grind things are put turn turn. Yeah, you can mill flour. You can grind paper and wood and the pope and make paper. You can change the rotation, the direction of the rotation to like, up and down. So now the senior of Pistons they can Pumped bellows or pump water or do all sorts of cool stuff. So that was a huge huge advancement in the history of the world, And that's how things stayed for a couple 1000 years, basically until the 19th century. When we started to develop electricity, somebody said very quickly. Oh, you know what? Actually, we could apply that age old waterwheel idea to this electrical generation. And that's exactly what they did. Actually, the first guy the first Hydro electric power provided power to a lamp at a house called a great called the Craig Side. I like clamp. Yeah, you love lamp. I love lab. It's in a town called Rothbury in, uh, North Cumberland. And if I mispronounced Northumberland, I am not to blame on that. You cannot spell a word north number land and expect anyone to pronounce it any other way. I'm trying to decipher how it's really probably pronounced. Like Probably Christians share some think Yeah, or like nothing rumbling and or something like that. I just inserted to be so, however you pronounce it guy named William Armstrong. He was like this amazing inventor who powered basically his whole house using water power, But one of the things he did was generate electricity, too. That's right. And then Grand Rapids, Grand Rapids, Michigan said. You know what? I'm gonna one up you there because we have a hydro generator, The Wolverine chair company factory. We have 16 streetlights that we want to power. And I imagine all the criminals in town were like, Oh, it's so much harder to commit crime with light at night now. I know. Especially drop crime a little bit. I would guess so. I mean, I'm sure they had like, I'm sure. Yeah, Yeah. Yeah, I'm sure they had like the gas lights already. But the electric It's true. Yeah. I love those gaslights. I think, Chuck, so we, You know, we talked a lot about hydro electric power in our Hoover Dam. Two parter. If I remember correctly, Yes, but I think we also might have talked about in our electric chair episode, but I feel like we may have misspoken and said that, um, either Buffalo, New York, er Niagara Falls, New York was the first city To use hydro electric power to power, its street lights. And that's just not true. It's actually Grand Rapids, Michigan. Yeah, they were a few years later. I love that. You know, a picture like the this. The sketch version of this is to engineers with the Niagara Falls behind them reading a newspaper going. Hey, he says he had Grand rapids that he's in the water to make light. If only we had such a means to do so, and Niagara Falls behind them. It's just like look at me. Yeah,.

"Star for you and for richard hannon when all four connections his name. Yeah he's an absolute legend and he's a huge yard favors and house being obviously for a long time but he's getting to probably one of the most loved characters in the are that's been there for a long time. I know paco boy. Bought reached just senior tears many years ago and horses like after his wins. I think just as factually known. The i think he's he's the same effect in all the people around him and particular richard and all the team the look after them their day in day out. He's a pleasure to have around the place and his owners. Tim oliver having a fantastic rohnert and he just he's he's a horse lifetime so i know it's a long time ago now. I think back in two thousand fourteen when he was ailing. But can you remember what stood out about. I remember him very well is up. Her ronan burns obviously come some wonderful family. The burns family of top-class breeders and horse men for a long time. And you just one of those horses you're more medium size. He wouldn't be as and posing as a mojo star. He'd probably be an inch an inch smaller in height quite a compact towards probably the sorta horace that you mentioned there before we're probably sort of known for buying what. Interestingly he was at a schambori large affiliate bought and raise richer and she was a very talented felicia tissue issue behind with a high in joint. You could very good which she was a very talented phillies societas. The first fold and he was very nice source and he actually had a drop in his false going into the ring and ronin stood over him. Thank god it all went the right way because imagine given hornbeck him back a little bit shocking to watch now was the stars aligned with ads and team all of they they gave us an order and luckily found it. We found him. He was the first lot. And i know you might not be invoked with these decisions. But he's an eight year old and taya day we need he might have a in career at some points ahead of him. Probably got a little bit long tooth job. I wouldn't be surprised though you know he'd be making stallions or somebody so i don't think it's totally out of the question. He certainly by the right side. So i who you've had a great connection with over the years and on that subject another thing that epsom over the last over the last week and over fell months was the strange rise of harbor. Watch as a middle distance staying. So and i just wanted to ask him because you bought her what she has another one of your success stories. Fifty eight thousand guineas scaling by acclamation again. Speed influence. He won the richmond stakes and yet he's now being represented by pile driver. Who one day coronation stakes a twelve by barren sammadi. Who won the bellman cup over. Two miles was anything about his physique. That you remember anything you heard about his homework. It would have given you any clue that he would be able to get these distant sources he wasn't he wasn't your typical acclimation when we were back then. Even the first crop acclamation. We bought five or six or seven because we see every single horse sales and we get we get a good feel for what stallions or throwing and we just really liked what we saw. The hannon's agreed and then the said wonderful success in the early days and he came along then probably seasonal to later bit longer. Maybe acclimated plenty. But he was quite a big week individual he was in the goff's uk sale and he was a he was ornate. I think our didn't make deserve rothbury. Returned them into december yearling sales and he just filled out but he was quite eastwood. A bigger horse big frame. But he probably. That's probably where he's getting putting this bit of. Stamina into some of his progeny and the pedigree would stay. It's no surprise you could get a good middle distance to staying type horse classic quality. It's four last incline is. He was a big boy navy. If you remember him at the two year old. I remember running into around the july meeting either made or conditions race and saadallah slip back where he was a big boy when he came in as a two year old imposing horse quite unusual for an acclimation but still plenty of qualities. Now still on this at commission kick you will say mass at the craven breeze up one hundred seventy thousand guineas. He turned into a fantastic sprinting. Too al-shabaab racing now. He's gone to tallyho starred in this turning into a brilliant young sire supremacy. Men's allen in the last week magnanimous sudden memento will winning for him and i think account stuff about three first time winners by mess that you and your father bought just in the last week and paulina got to connections to other horses. That we've been talking about so let's start with secret strength. Who won a muscle. Where conditions raced on saturday only by neck but it was a cozy neck in the end. Was yeah physical very like his dad. Little bit scope. Medium-sized bottom from conroy. On ho stables them and family of a wonderful reputation for selling very good horses from the breeds themselves myself. Richest fell in love with him remind all of his dad but maybe just a little bit bigger and he did a nice breeze. Good action didn't seem to have a wonderful talent. We see them two or three times and we actually bought a months back to crazy lunatics. That night because he fell a number of them and a key came along when we mentioned to him and said he take him. And i know richard was quite disappointed in his first year. Old and see things an awful lot horse and He just lost back end twice in the dip in newmarket the first day and probably beaten by decent animal. Went to your lucky. The horse went down the side of a couple times. He was taken out up on iran iran respectable. But just didn't they were disappointed. Put a he probably showed his true colors on the weekend. And i think he probably b.'s. Horse fairly highly regarded by the kevin ryan stable by richard. Likes secret strength. lot and things. You've got an awful lot of ability where it ended up. I'm not sure bush. He was always very keen on the money even the first few days he came back from the sales like colin calm. And all those good reasons men you would know. And he'd be into a breeze of sale and a bit like mass. When he came home from john collins and roger marley's when we bought him he was the same all. You want to do with put his head down eat grass. Kanter this gig jogging dance. The stars does makes a huge difference to these horses around. Thanks equality nuts. Mass of temperate serious thing the fact that tallyho astounding amount supporting a masterpiece since day. One is held up so another mass. Then you bought and one in the last week was a three year old gelding corporation now. Interestingly he is close to yes. He's the half brother to chamois. Illogic chamois indulges the damn. All major star is no daldry. Yeah thought he was very clear. We bought him as a yearling off here stood. He showed loads early on a two year old and was a bit disappointing losses way but it was good to see him win the day and a good family but there may not win that we actually both so that was very good and we actually bought. Men's a full with kieron conroy. From glenn stored we bought him. From derek ages breeder. So we're looking to be involved with him he's gonna source is very good to your own and then the third one in the last week was coundon. House was appraised up purchase. I started at yarmouth when he made his debut at yarmouth last week and he won fairly acecomm. Five hundred dollars for kalam parks. That would would infer. He had a baby hold last year. Just a little bit of things things you didn't get a smooth road enforcing which can happen. Sometimes you need a look at these horses. He always had plenty of ability is just..

"Is that right off the bat? No matter what retirement. There are some taxes that you avoid that you did have to pay during your working years from a paycheck, however, and we kind of just got done talking about this with Kyle's question. If almost all of your money is an I raise or 41 case, you have already made a choice to pay taxes in retirement. And you're probably thinking Nope. Don't remember making that choice Bread. What you talking about? You made a choice to voluntarily pay income taxes in retirement and maybe a lot of them And that's kind of my whole problem with the 41 K. And the irony is that that never really seemed to have been communicated properly, so don't feel alone here. When your money comes out, it comes out as ordinary income, which means he gets taxed at federal and state brackets. Whatever your brackets happened to be, and the more you pull out in any one year, the higher in the higher those tax brackets get and that Is the exact same thing is a paycheck. So that's probably how you meant that question again. I gave you some good news on the lack of things like the payroll taxes, but unfortunately answering your question with Probably how you men? It is the bad answer that if you have a lot of irons and form in case Yeah, it's going to be basically identical to what that paycheck was, which is when you pull it out. It's ordinary income at ordinary rates. And here's the kicker. If you put money into that now you're gonna get a deduction at today's rates. And then if tax rates go up in the future, and you pull that money out, you're gonna pay those higher rates. We're gonna really something. I want this generation of people about to retire, who already have to really look at now, If you saved a lot of your money and non I raise and foreign case, then the answer. The question is no. If you have a lot of Rothbury account, you'll pay no taxes of any kind. If you have non retirement accounts, brokerage accounts, trust accounts. Your own money is tax free forever. You will get a 10 99 and things like dividends or interest or capital gains, And a lot of that is better, in other words, more favorable than income tax rates. Finally, there's things like Social Security. This a little bit more complicated. This would be one of the many reasons to maybe reach out to us. Sold securities either not taxed at all. Or as much as 85% of it ends up being taxes, ordinary income depending on what you do with other things like your IRA income or not, So I just want to take a quick pause. Jan. I know we've got a few more questions, but First inform us If you've got questions out there, I'm gonna do you one better. You can certainly reach out and we might answer them on the show like we just did. Or you could do well. Thousands of San Diego's have already done which is come on in for a personal one on one.
