Power Five conferences consider cancelling 2020 football season
"It stands right now I mean this is what we're looking at right at this very moment that it doesn't seem like there's going to be a whole lot of college football this season and so. We're going to talk about the NFL season. Our season preview issue has to hit newsstands tomorrow as it stands right now with a lovely story by Jenny RENTA's on the cover, which is very excited. Very excited to talk to her about that and a little bit but let's just I acknowledge the weirdness of the fact that we have no idea what's going to happen the impact that this is going to have. On the NFL season on, you know they're not going to have college football You know we've seen evaluators already saying that this combine is going to be monumental because you know there might be a ton of kids without any tapeh that you're GonNa get to look at transfers who's leaving early I mean this is going to be I think chaos sort of hitting the funnel right now and everything's about to explode. It seems like the decisions from Yukon and then the MAC conference for kind of the first two moves that really got the ball rolling for the power five conferences to reconsider the season and everything really came to a head on Sunday Nights You had indications that there would be no football season that conferences were meeting to discuss this issue and then you had players saying they, they wanted to be able to play but also would. Hope to unionize, which is another significant development. So it's been a pretty chaotic twenty, four hours for college football, and so then the NFL is kind of moving ahead as scheduled things came to a head I. Think Sooner for College Football for a lot of reasons we've had players who have had. Issues, after testing positive for Cobra had entire teams that had to be quarantined. The NFL right now is in this training camp kind of locked down tight mode it's it's not a bubble obviously, players are going to and from, but it's kind of the normal constraints of training camp, and so we don't really know yet if it will work for the NFL obviously they are in a better. Position Than College football because players are represented by a union that is the big difference here, work working conditions and everything that goes with returning to work in pandemic had been hash out ahead of time, and there were clear protocols in place across the board So we still don't know if it's going to work for the NFL, but they're certainly in a better spot right now than college football. Thought. Teammate. Ross dellinger did a good job of illustrating one of the main issues which was you know there were doctors on these conference calls with the heads of all the power conferences and saying you know their studies that are coming back from Germany that. Percents seventy percent of the people who get the corona virus and their asymmetric and move on still have heart issues you know and that impacts athletes significantly You know I mean if the speed at which your heart beats or the size of your heart or whatever's going on there I mean that significantly impacts someone who doesn't aerobic sport right and who has to worry about you know. All their conditioning and all that kind of stuff and how the heart's pumping and all that kind of stuff and so I it blows my mind that we've gotten this far already down the down the road with the NFL, where in everyone just kind of looking over at college football now and saying Jesus is going to be us and it's hard not to think that it will be right i. mean the NBA seasons kind of plotting along? I mean there's Some little signs of positivity here and their Major League Baseball seems to be you know stumbling and then recovering stumbling and then recovering but I mean, we really going to have such a better idea about this and three or four weeks than we do now at I really don't know. Yeah. On what you raise is such an important point that we don't have all of the answers on the long term impacts of covert and that's why it was so silly earlier. This offseason, the people discussing like, Hey, it's a competitive advantage of athletes. Get it. Now, they don't have to worry about getting in the fall when first of all, we don't even know how long the you would have immunity from getting the virus, and then secondly, we don't know the long term impacts on the body, and as you mentioned the research coming back as indicated that for some people, it can be severe and long lasting and we know impacts the circulatory. System has neurological impacts. Those are very serious beyond just a simple virus that you get over. So it was never a binary thing where you either have a, you know a fatal outcome or a mild case. There's a lot of outcomes in between and I think for college athletes especially who are eighteen to twenty two years old who are not getting paid who are not professional athletes making this decision who also have school to deal with there just are. A lot more considerations at play and I. Think once you had conferences saying we're stopping play because we believe that it's safe. Then it really put the pressure on the other conferences I think to say, well, you know we can't make the claim that it's safe. Other conferences are saying it's not

The president has signed an executive order to give workers of break by deferring payroll taxes on salaries below $100,000 a year. Normally, employers would withhold about six cents of every dollar for the Social Security trust phones. So this lets employees just keep that money. There's no need to ask Congress for more and the Social Security cheques still go out. But of course, there's a catch. And the catch is that the formula for keeping Social Security solvent has been precisely engineered over the years. That's why the retirement age has been inching up on why the payroll tax has been applying to higher and higher incomes. We'll now the president is altering that formula. And if this ends up going on for a long as he hopes, eventually, Social Security payments would have to be cut. My guess is Congress would fix this by just cutting payments to the Richard Baby boomers, which is not the end of the world. But it would be the end of Social Security as a retirement program. It would become just another welfare program, something that Republicans once upon a time were against. And if for some reason, Social Security did wither away entirely. Well. Trump Executive Orders Target TikTok, WeChat Apps
"President of the United States signed two executive orders Thursday under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act and a couple other justifications forbidding transactions with tiktok owner bite dance, and any transactions with ten cents related to their super. APP We chat. Each of these orders takes effect September twentieth. You might recall Microsoft has until September fifteenth to reach a deal to buy some or all of Tiktok from by dense. So there's a little bit of a gap there between win Microsoft's deadline is and when this executive order takes place. So that's the first thing to remember is they didn't ban the APPS they banned transactions with the companies which could cause apps to disappear and it doesn't happen until. September twentieth. So there's forty five days to figure out how this is going to work. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross will identify which transactions will be considered prohibited under the order. So that's going to change a lot of people are looking at the tencent order and saying, well, wait could this band transactions with other ten cent industries and so that will be important for the the definition from Wilbur Ross to decide is it really just we chat? The use of the emergency act is generally applied to terrorism or sometimes international trade and will likely be challenged in court. In fact, tiktok is pretty much said it's going to do that. The order claims the APPS access to user data including location browsing messaging payments, and search histories. Quote threatens to allow the Chinese Communist Party access to America's personal and proprietary information potentially allowing China to track the locations of federal employees and contractors. Since kind of like Yes j- shit is still very fucked up bullshit. No. You know what it okay. Here's here's the thing. Here's the thing about verses. This is the moral quality, two verses. The immoral quality to hip hop right is the fact that. Hip Hop. Hip Hop in the past icky. Just obliterates everything in its path to becomes the biggest thing in the world everybody wants to all the white kids wannabe rappers now. We deal post Malone because hip hop is that big? And and yet hip hop is still the thing. That produces this absolutely janke sporadic jury rigged crowd sourced Dj Battles Streamed in seven twenty P at Max on a smartphone where. So forth like the the straightens like weird things that you find the repository Internet like mix tape, Lucy's and whatnot it's the same thing. That's the thing that you think about as more hip hop than anything else like all the things that are like shiny and commercially released some people lead new money change them. Timbaland did not let money change him. I mean, he probably did I'm not trying to end the year I. Mean I'm still a great you making wild assumptions right now right? Right but you get what I'm saying is that. There's something alive in that. There's something alive in the fact that hip hop even add its commercial. Zenith you know what I mean like it still feels like versus is something that could have only come out of its pants. Yeah. It's like it's like even at its most advanced form, it's still fly by the seat of his pants white. Absolutely. The. Most. Guaranteed important reform I think hip hop is still the only thing that would have the nerve to make us listen to Tori lanes for extended periods of time, and it briefly become the most popular thing on social media I to America. I was seriously though okay. Which I you, WanNa see. What do I want to see what you wouldn't see? which matchup it doesn't even have to be like, don't you know know stereotype and it doesn't have to be a rap match it doesn't have to be an RB matchup out. No the footage can stay. It's just that the one I, want I, want to Rick Ross matchup but I want a better match up I either wanted Rick Ross versus cheesy or or ooh real millennials no. Rick Rosser citizen. That's actually what I want. But again, that gets us into the problem of versus which is like you can't actually do a versus with rappers who have problems who have beef with each other or it would be the best versus ever because you'd be doing rappers that had quote unquote be for each other but they show up in their Palais because it was all a marketing ploy. Oh, absolutely which is why Rick Ross fifty would be perfect rick I mean, you know fifty fifty would show up with Rick Ross's baby mom like you know. Hip Hop is one continuous. LINEAGE WELL Like imagineering like twist verse from overnight celebrity like straight into war ship put us on versus. But for now, that's the sound. Only rap listen. This is a weekly podcast I mean like we might be next week talking about what I mean. Yeah. Especially listened going into this session. We watched a video of Ben. Shapiro. Dogma my wife and I have a feeling. It's just. I feel like we do a better job. Yeah. Yeah. But you know maybe we won't do that. Maybe we'll talk about full metal alchemist brotherhood. Election 2020: Biden's VP Pick
"There's plenty of general reporting out there about each of the possible women who Joe Biden might pick to be his vice president. We're here now to understand the Jewish angle for each of these impressive women to learn what American Jews should know about each of these candidates that might make them more supportive or concerned. So we're going to go one by one and get the Jewish angle from our guest Jacob Corn Blue, the national politics reporter for Jewish insider. Jacob. Thank you for joining us to be back. Let's start with Comma Harris a former candidate for the Democratic nomination a popular senator from California the State with the second largest Jewish population in the country. What's the Jewish angle on Senator Harris? First of all, she married to a Zionist of that Iraqi gets her a Jewish scientist. Yes. So that gives an upper hand in this Jewish of IPE stakes I think that Kamala Harris gives a lot. She adds up to the ticket number one just because she was a popular candidate and people. So her at the start as a rising star and somebody who can really take this to the very end unfortunately it for ourselves she didn't win the primaries should take on. Joe. Biden pretty early which gave. That rise in the polls in the only of twenty twenty. I will say that Biden. Biden comes to see who is preferred choice for Veep Kamala Harris has a big name recognition. Is Obviously arised star and her background, a label as being a black woman from California. But was so high tides in the Senate and in the Jewish community. So the pros are out. The cons are that I'm not sure Biden Israeli looking for someone on the ticket would potentially overshadow him not because Harris Donald understand that if she's on the ticket, she's number two and she's there to serve the presidential nominee and possibly the president. But Because Camera Harris ran on the same slop because she is a bishop you know she can overshadow him in media appearances and potentially as vice president of being a little more independent and vocal than let's say, Dick Cheney and pence on camera beyond the you know the happy coincidence of the Jewish husband is there anything in particular that Jews should know about Senator Harris is policy stances? What has she? Done on issues Anti Semitism, what has she done on supporting Israel, other issues of concern to the Jewish community I guess close ties with APEC obviously. She's spoken at several APEC conferences but she also appealed to the mainstream of the Democratic Party She's not seen as a controversial figure amongst progressives say as someone who is too pro Israel for them she will reflect the same policies that Biden Obama and. Anybody, else running a Democratic Party other than on the an Warren's she would you know align herself with the second policy views? So I don't think she's outstanding. She's not too long in the Senate to look back at a record by think, she has a strong provisions record and she is aligned itself with the mainstream of the Democratic Party next, let's talk about political MIA fights, Susan, rice, Susan Rice served. As US ambassador to the UN in President Obama's first term and his national security adviser in his second going even further back in time actually I think I think she was the youngest ever assistant secretary of State She was you know thirty three or something like that when President Clinton in Nineteen Ninety eight made her the system secretary of State for Africa what did you need to know about Susan? Rice. Well Susan Rice first of all is A. Mixed emotions about Susan, Rice obviously, she has good ties with prominence numbers of the Jewish community and she has a record serving as national security adviser and embassador to the UN on their Obama Democrats SAPORTA. Mostly Obama's policy when it comes to how other than the last UN Security Council. Two, three, three, four, a resolution, and just mind our listeners about two three four why that was controversial. The only time when Obama. ABSTAINED ON APRIL then. All on settlements that you know really couldn't dent on Obama's record when it comes to a majority of American Jews talking about Republican Jews, all those. In Israel who soul Obama as being the more salt when it comes to the Palestinian issue. But Susan Rice obviously had a this overlap from being a national security adviser and the to the UN. Obviously, she was a controversial figure on this front. She was criticized by Dennis. Ross by the full hug combative style. When came to the Palestinian issue on the other hand, she has very strong ties with somebody like a Fox who is very vocal in his pro Israel stats

Census to Halt Operations a Month Early Amid Growing Fears of a Population Undercount
"Bureau has confirmed it will wrap up its count a month early. It's a move that many fear could reduce the accuracy of the population. Tout NPR national correspondent has alone. Juan broke this story last week, and the bureau confirmed it last night in hand. The census happens as we know every 10 years. The end date was initially postponed until late October because of the pandemic. Now the bureau is saying that it will wrap up on September 30th. What reasons has the sense is given According to a statement, the Census Bureau director Stephen Dealing Ham posted on the sense sphere is website last night. The Commerce secretary Wilbur Ross, who oversees the Census Bureau, has directed the bureau to speed up counting to end it cut it short a month early in order to meet current legal deadline. There's a deadline set by federal fall, it says the Census Bureau via the Commerce secretary has to present to the president the latest state pop. Elation counts by December 31st of this year, and those are the numbers that are used to redistribute seats in Congress among the states, and that was a deadline The bureau had said in April that it could no longer meet because of the pandemic needed more time has asked Congress to give it more time by extending the deadline into 2021. Sir from Congress has not extend that deadline. Democrats have introduced legislation, but Republicans have not regarding those deadlines. And so the Commerce secretary apparently is saying it is time to make this change to make sure we can meet that deadline. Okay, let's break this down a little bit. NPR first reported that the agency had decided to cut short door knocking efforts. What is the impact, though of finishing early like this and what populations Could be most impacted by an undercount. One thing to keep in mind here is that you know, through all this back and forth career officials from the Census Bureau, including associate director for the 2020 cents is an associate director for field operations has publicly stated that the bureau as early as May, they've said, can no longer meet this federal deadline of December 31st And by rushing to do it at this point by not continue to count through October 30 1st there are concerns here that there would be great and accuracy and the data that are collected because we're at a point in the senses, with roughly four out of 10 households that have not yet responded to the senses, those four out of 10 whole household's roughly our representative of historically under counter groups who are Less likely to respond on the census around their own and are really probably only get counted if a door knocker gets to meet them and tries to essentially convinced them to do an in person interview outside their home for about five minutes, trying to collect that information and otherwise the bureau if it rides up, finding homes that are vacant or or seemed to be vacant or unresponsive here has to rely on government records and That way of rely on government records using statistical methods The bear has used before, but the bureau might have to use it at a much, much greater extent. And that could really hurt theocracy because those methods tend to over represent the white population while under representing people of color. Yeah, as we know, the Trump administration tried last year to get a citizenship question added to the census. The Supreme Court rejected that attempt. How does this week's news that the census will wrap up early fit into the bigger picture? I mean, the question everyone is asking is, Is this change? Politically motivated? You know, I've been covering the 2020 cents is all the lead up to it for three more than three years now, and it has been a Siri's Of attempts by the Trump administration to have a very direct hand and how the senses is carried out to be very clear. There is no citizenship question on the 2020 cents is, even though the Trump Administration tried very hard to get one onto the forms, and that on now, you know, just just recently Last Last month, President Trump released a presidential memo calling for unauthorized immigrants to be excluded. From the census numbers used to redistribute seats in Congress. Even though the Constitution says the counting of the whole number of persons in each state that's the that's how that's the people that should be counted nor determine how many states how many seats in Congress each state gets. So this latest move here a lot of Democrats a lot of sense its advocates, given what career officials have said about the need for more time or really questioning. Why is there this push to not extend counting and what happens with Congress? That's NPR's national correspondent. Hotsy Low long hands. Thank you so much for joining us. You're welcome, Tanya.

This Week tiktok beloved by teems commonly misunderstood adults, and now a chesapeake in international business and diplomacy. Here's injury Ross Mark and we've been talking TIKTOK and Microsoft and all of what's happening in Washington. Eunice Yoon reporting now that it's not just Microsoft but to other tech firms that are in talks with Tik Tok owner by dance over a possible sale in president trump said yesterday, he was ready to approve a purchase of the US operations tiktok. But then he said the only woman to do it if the government receives a lot of money in exchange listen to this. Microsoft or somebody else who was the Chinese? What what the price is the United States could should get a very large percentage of that price because we're making it possible without us you know I use the expression it's like the landlord and the tenant. And without the lease the tenant doesn't have the value what we're sort of in a certain way the lease we make it possible to have this great success, tick toxic tremendous success, but a big portion of its in this country. Sale? Yeah. Whatever the number is, would it would come from the civil on Wall Street banker problems. By the way they call that tipping the waiter, but I don't think we've ever tipped the government for transaction president trump said he told Microsoft's CEO that a very substantial portion of the price is going to have to come into the treasury of the United States because quote or making it possible for this deal to happen I was on the phone by the way with. The people involved in this transaction deal teams on all sides who heard that yesterday. Couldn't really even make. Heads or tails of what the president was saying how. Would you hey the government what would that look like could there be a formulation where ultimately you come to some kind of transactional agreement and then you announce that you're making some kind of infrastructure investment in the in the United States who you're going to create some kind of jobs I'm literally, this is the conversation that's happening inside the room among these companies. If we created some companies without yesterday we got to it. It's what did you say? I. Heard it reported yesterday when I first started reporter yesterday I thought he's just saying this stuff off the cuff he doesn't really mean it. Then I saw what he actually said I thought wow, he does mean it. I don't even know how you could possibly as somebody WHO's working on this deal come up with anything that makes any sense and Steve Ballmer Steve Balmer was with us yesterday and said as a shareholder as the top shareholder Microsoft he would love to see this deal get done at the right price. Gets an exciting proposition for Microsoft. obviously depends on the price. Price is important as well as whatever restrictions come from a government perspective but I think it's an exciting avenue for Microsoft to really increase its consumer base. I don't know how you figure out any sort of pricing right pricing when you have to then go in and add some significant number on top that you'd be paying to the US Treasury. Well, what are they? Going to happen is because this is a bit of evaluation game. And I hate to say, we're going to be using trump valuation but I think that what's going to happen is they're going to effectively. Create a higher valuation for the overall business. Then kind of create something where they can say we're giving you something and that bite dance is giving it. That's the other important part of the view at least from what I understand Turnley among these groups is that the money has to come out of China not out of a US company. So you're going to have to make it appear whatever that whatever it is that you're giving to appear that China's not getting part of that's because Peter Navarro and others don't frankly want US money. Ten twenty thirty billion forty billion dollars ending up in the hands of China for the. So there's so many sort of China. has already weighed in. On this today that China has weighed in on this today through some of the states that media where they are saying that you know the US is basically stealing us and trying to do take off with this that it's a rogue nation now at this point. So the idea that you are going to come up with something that satisfies the trump administration and at the same time satisfies the communist government in China Good luck with that I mean this is they're going to get caught in between the two the two with this because even though China may not. Necessarily, be looking for some of the same angles. It's not going to say, okay, it's okay for the US to come out looking like this and stealing our company and don't worry about it. CEO of Tiktok you know or bite dance don't worry about it. We'll live with that sort of a kind of a slap in the face. To all this stuff we're talking about it. Sorry Andrew it. It overshadows the the lead of the story right and that's that there are possibly other suitors for the US. Of tiktok, we we we talked yesterday Andrew about well, maybe media companies would be interested in this property. Now, you know the the wording here that that we use her that Eunice was reporting was other tech offense, which which makes it even more interesting and who these other tech companies. May Be an at. Are they based in the US or are they elsewhere? It would be very I. I would imagine it would be very hard for Google or Amazon or an apple etc to try to buy this company given the anti-trust pressures on them, I. Think my understanding was that the White House preferred that liked the Microsoft choice from a regulatory perspective. So it's all very interesting by the way the other piece of this is the part I. Really don't understand if you're apple today, you know we're talking about this two trillion dollars market cap that keeps going up and up and up. Given. Given. The China risks now now, maybe look they foxconn supplying hundreds of thousands of people if not more than are making these phone so maybe they can't just say to Tim. Cook. Good luck to you but I would think there would be risk if we do this to a Tiktok what kind of a backlash reciprocal. Backlash is China going to have for some US companies doing business there? That's the part I don't understand say knock built into any of the. It it's it's no different than the same conversations we were having during the depths of the trade war. Right? We had these same conversations. We push too hard if the tariffs are to punitive companies are companies like apple, the ones that are going to face the pushback or the retaliation in some way and I think it's fair to say that that that never really came back to these two tech companies I mean, she didn't say where those tech companies were based and and I wonder what the US would do that if if it was being pursued by a company, another technology company based in China but not based in the United States either how would Sylvia's see something like that and would they still threaten to turn off the the APP in the United States if it was not a US company?
Cubs extend their winning streak to 4 behind Alec Mills' 7 innings of 3-hit ball in a 2-0 victory over the Royals
"Baseball games last night. Cubs rolling along behind Alec Mills cheese Guy's been fabulous, gave up two runs to Nick Castano's In Cincinnati, and that was it seven shutout yesterday. Cubs went to nothing. And I loved again, David Ross. Not being wedded to. He's my closer. I got to give the ball the correct Kimbrough because I don't give it to Craig Kimbrel. What am I saying? David Ross absolutely says that a Joe Madden impression is that what you were doing yesterday, you say wasn't professional. And now that's the voice. I did not say He wasn't professional. Yes, you did. But that's the Joe Maddon voice you're using. Well, who is that? That was just mean. Maybe. Maybe in funny. I I'm just telling you Most managers would have gotten on paying him $68 million. That's my closer. I got to give him a baseball. What do you want me to do? I can only put out there who they give me. You know that voice that you do? It sounds like you're pinching your nose as you do the voice, But you're not. It's quite the skill. Isn't that how he sounds standing? Yeah. How do you do that? You're like, you know, like it Sounds like you're pinching your nose easily. I'm not pinching my nose. All I know is that gave me a 16 million Now they're closer. And I got important man. Jack Chisenhall and Vintage Air
"Welcome cars the matter I'm Robert Ross and joining me today as Jackson Hall, President founder of the vintage air and recipient of the prestigious Robert. E Petersen lifetime. Achievement. Award. Welcome jackets. Good to have you here. Thank you Robert. Appreciate that glad to be here. You've kind of an entire industry that's really come to be known as performance air conditioning. Vintage Air was founded longtime ago now in nineteen seventy six primarily to serve builders who wanted to bill. Really Cool. Hot Rods Right. Talk about how you got to where you are I. Understand you started rich and early age well, yes. I started reading a hot rod magazine and it was hot rod magazine, an Rod and custom which were once at the time that everybody was reading. It had got me interested in old cars and I was about probably thirteen isn't it? Funny? We're in it always starts Yeah. Well thirteen years old I think so long story short my mom my dad was an air force and he was at this particular time was overseas along so she would take me out looking for old cars driving around we drove by one old junkyard that had some pretty nice cars and for Junkyard, and there was a little Mali sedan sitting right there and so. With that one and that started it really which pay fifty bucks hundred bucks for no one hundred dollars ran and drove off. There's a lot of must have been a nice car. It was decent in Iran in my mom felt that was important. So she said that'd be good one it actually Lebron's than I thought well, mode will be in their law anyway but. What did you put in that thing? Jag. Let Me Guess Flathead v Eight maybe something like that. Yeah. The first walk was a mercury by then the mercury and the flatheads kind of really on their last legs so cheap and a guy out of Mercury, my dad and military, and so I could go out to the base hobby shop at work on it therapies they have the tools and equipment wilmer stuff anyway he was out there and he was pulling that thing out and he was gonna put an old set I'm looking at that thing going he san now I gotta get rid of this thing and I'm going hey, wait a second I ask him what he'd takes Twenty. Five Bucks for so. Two fifty, five key begins Mercury, flat. It sounds like deal and boy that was the bee's knees back. Then there really was water fun car that must have been what happened after those formative years he did some college worker well. And as going along I kept working on our of data as we went along than mercury got lost and I put a pontiac over at bow the eight. Okay. Okay. And I use that to go to school I drove that car was my only car and so yeah I, I went to school studied industrial design. Guy Down College it was Vietnam era so. I joined ROTC after I got out of college I went right into the air force that was pretty ambitious endeavor especially at the time you fly planes her through for a little bit and then I did other stuff when emir force well, it sounds like an interesting stint obviously got out your passion for hot rods did not diminish in the lease no it. Always Hot Rod Guy, was there an a Ha moment that you had that said, he wait a minute I'm going to get serious about this. Well, when I got out of the Air Force, I had to make a decision. I think a lot of people that go in the air force consider staining and making a career out of thought about that for just a second and pretty much decided that I wanted to do. It always wanted to do I told my mom when I was about thirteen or fourteen. I told her not WANNA build parts for Cars I decided. Well, if I wanted to do that, this long should stick with that I started looking around. What can I do at that point? Pete shakes had started a year before that. There was a couple of chassis guys out there now and I've thought well I don't want to go jump in the middle something someone is already doing so look can I do that's new made any backup just a second I had started an air conditioning repair installation sinner right after I got out of the Service in seventy three head that stuff laying around so I thought hey, street rod nationals coming up here in August August load up the van take a bunch of stuff up there and made three unique parts to have up there for that deal were no condensers at that time in the condenser is the part that goes in front of the radiate sure that support that takes up space and. A hot rod that could be a sore thumb and of course, in those days, it was all about thirty four. It's some people would say it's still. Also, we'll get to that I designed and had a company make me condenser company up in Minnesota. Make me a condenser that was vertical so it would fit that format because there was nothing like that available number one that's right that narrow narrow grill and the yeah it had to fit just right? Yeah. There were narrow ones but they laid down the width of the cars that were going on now. That's right. So we did that and then nine designed a compressor mounting bracket for a small black Chevy because there were more sponsorship, he's going in at that time anything else. So the hoods were narrow on hot rod so it couldn't hang out sides like they did in the newer cars. So that was the second thing we did that bracket and then the third thing we did is I made a mold. been working with my hands long enough that I just figured hands I can make them all and I can make my own plastic evaporator out in. That's right and put the coralline and I'll have a unique evaporator to fit of thirty, two

Here's a here's how I know I've watched some special in any medium or listen to something special or read something special or met someone special if I somebody or or listen to a song or read something to watch an episode or I see a movie and then a few days pass in is better in. I can't get it out of my head. That's how I know it's really special in Westworld episode to I keep having moments where I'll think about something. I'll laugh about something I'll think about how they fucking stuck. Vinnie off and Weiss and drogue on in there just to toews. Oughta go fuck ourselves and I and I smile and unlike Dan they're hitting they're hitting something there that that I know is great not just good next level shit. I've got the inkling for for season three awards. We'll that episode to because it Mike. I just keep sinking into my head. Yeah it feels like they're really trying to get that audience. The audience really back on board after season to the kind of threw some people off because it was so confusing yes and I was one of those people. Mike Whereafter Westwood Season Two. I was one of those. It's not something that I admitted very publicly but I was very disappointed with the sort of repetitive nature of season. Two compared to one the failure to get out of the parks quickly enough and apparently I've heard that that was sort of a an issue. They were aware of in like actively solving basically season three was always the plan and they needed like a stopgap. Almost which is crazy to think about that level of creative genius but fuck man the bringing Aaron Paul's Genius every character. They've got the yoga. Listen to freeze all motor functions. "You'll have options to like they'll be more than one dude with. The one on one guys doing a comedy bit. Content. Like, some of them are just like, I don't know people need instructions, but some of them are doing content, and it's funny. Fuck like, the I had to do the same thing when I got a ring doorbell because I'm I'm so mechanically fucking challenged. It's not even funny, and you know, there's like forty thousand options for different ring doorbell videos. You can watch on YouTube, and like which one of these people looks the most like they would know what they're talking about to me range. It's a lineup on the century picking from and then watch a couple of videos and go from there, and it's just it's amazing anything you need on the internet. But specifically, I mean YouTube and those instructional videos my mind, it makes you wonder what is the next major thing that ten years from now, we could've imagined life without it. What's it gonna be? I know what do you think it is? Because I mean, clearly everybody's question. They were fine. You know, like they all made it without the internet. They all made. I mean life might have been change our wheel. Before their figured it out. You know, ten years ago, you wouldn't have been able to watch video for it. But you could have found the instruction manual of how to set up your Sonos system online. If you lost it, you could found a PDF of it. That would have been good, maybe. But before that, let's step from like the step up from finding the online stuff to some bozo showing me exactly how to do. It is. I can rewind and go back and forth. It's amazing. It's an absolute game changer AJ. Well, what I think about just go off the whole technology bit like as a college student. I think about what it was like before we even had computers and you had a right? Like a thousand word essay, there's like no computer you have to do research written. Yeah. You have to handwrite it all go to the library million go through books. You had you wrote your notes, then you hand wrote the fucking essay. Yeah. Then your hand fell off and you had to go buy new hand sounds like a nightmare. It's crazy. We. We we complain about so much and yet we have to do so little compared to. Generations past. I it's it's, you know, I'm part of the problem too. It's just funny as fuck to me and thank God for these instructional video makers because life is hard enough for if I figure these things out on my own they wouldn't get done. So I need you guys to key angles to keep doing thing. Keep whatever that is. The light bulb goes off in your head. That says, you know, what fucking I need to make a YouTube instructional video this keep doing it. All right next segment. All right. So now, we have with us back for the second time the other Ross Ross Tucker, my man, how are you? Ross. I am doing fantastic. And I will never quite get used to that. You know, calling somebody else Ross and saying, hey, what's up Ross? But at least you're a cool Ross based on your Twitter in our previous conversations, both on your podcast, and when you came on the Ross Tucker football podcast, unlike the dude from friends that we talked about last time that we that's kind of our bond bond of Ross's everywhere. I was just oh, you know, what I took my daughters to a pizza place, and like friends was up on the screen, and they were looking at it. So I had to explain to them. Right. Why why we don't like that guy? Either. Right. Yeah. You can't have your kids growing up thinking. That's okay. To be that Ross. No. I mean, it just really really disappointing. So that's okay. You and I'll just day by day by day overcome that. And it's like we're like Tom Brady Ross even though even though we've already accomplished a lot. We still have a chip on our shoulder. No matter what. And that's that's one of our chips. Exactly. So for those who didn't hear the first time Ross was on our show. He's a former American NFL offense lineman. He's sports broadcaster. Now, he played it. In at Ivy league it prints Princeton. He was a lineman seven seasons in the NFL..

"Fifty percent. Welcome bonus. Let's roll again. Bright steaks. All right. Let's go in depth on each of these games. We always do start off with the bills and the dolphins forty two. Seventeen buffalo over Miami. And Josh Allen five touchdowns in the win. He was really really impressive. I mean, you know, he still misses some throws that make you scratch your head a little bit. But he is. I tweeted this Brian Ross Tucker NFL, he is crazy fast. I mean for a guy that big crazy fast. I think he is the most unique uniquely gifted, physical FINA. M- we've seen since Cam Newton. I mean, I've met the dude he's like six six to forty. He's got an unbelievable arm and he's like legit fast. The guy's Cam Newton. He is Cam Newton. He just needs to have more consistent. Throws a nice job in this game. Roy and tannahill started awful had a bad pick Tremaine that he to another bad pick. And it was like, oh, man. Adam gazes, definitely getting fired. He has not been fired, by the way. As we're recording. This that might happen. I think Dirk cutters the only one as when we recording this. But you know, the dolphins battle back a little bit. Ryan tannehill scored a touchdown on a Phillies special type play that was a popular play today. Shod Jones cord on a pick six and it's like, okay, maybe the dolphin..

I know those they are the sunglasses you and I got together. I mean. Yeah. On our Palm Springs weekend. Uh-huh. From the store that was like three for twenty member. That's right. Yeah. And those are your favorite one, and they are my favorite ones. I grab the only para grabbed but I thought about that storm. I wanna go back like, I miss all my sunglasses. Thanksgiving. I I don't really have any plans for thanksgiving. I know I know plans, we'll maybe we should talk no pressure, but we should talk. Okay. Okay. I wanna stay home and order like the one thing. "I was went next door to green leaves vegan restaurant. We ordered a fake chicken sandwich with fries, fish and chips, and beef, and broccoli and broccoli. Yeah. All vegetarian things were Ross's, but stuff. I couldn't decide the beef with broccoli, sounded amazing, and the fish and chips. I was just curious about, yeah. How do you do vegan fish and chips as good? It was. They did it. Yeah, they done did it. So we sat there were blithely talking to each other about that was while he really believes that really thinks that pedophile 's slash lizards are running there and seated humanity Arbor then a half an hour later the end, I get up to go to the bathroom and I see. A woman who is in the session with us. She didn't talk too much. She had dark curly hair, and so I sorta turned back, see who she was sitting with and directly opposite carry on the booth behind her. Was Matthew instructors. It was really loud in there though. I don't. It was. There's a real possibility takes this to carry from the bathroom OMG Matthew seated directly behind you and she wrote back in all caps, what? No. And then again, no, no, no. What I got back to my seat. I smiled at him as I walked by, and he gave me a very friendly, you know, halfway smile. But then I said down across from you just had this look like, do I need to melt any farther. It's fine. I'm sure you didn't hear us. We can't hear them. Yeah, think. Ear, nose. He's like a real nice guy. He did seem like a nice guy. We didn't describe them retroactively. You can imagine a guy, five, ten, maybe. Oh, I didn't really notice his height, dark dark hair, Caucasian man, twenty nine. That's about right. All right. Twenty nine and a half could look in fella. You might have been a bit Hispanic. I thought as we were looking, I have no idea anyways. He seemed like a friendly fellow, but with some interesting ideas and he had a tattoo on his forearm of a hammer. Yeah, that's right. And the hammer had I think the word hope on it was very curious about that. Hope is hammer if I had a hammer, I'd ride hope on it. Yes, so I don't. I specially hammer of Justice. Yeah, true. I. Had so many questions for him. Yeah, we had the food. We add to eat food and he was already telling us about the pedophile lizards that run somewhere else. So that was wild. And I hope we go to some more meetings. They're me too, but no out drinks, no hot drinks at all. Thumbs down on that Roswell we were at this event. Some people took off their shoes. Some people didn't that not only did I notice that, but the majority of the people in the room including you, we're wearing flip-flops always in that. Interesting. And yet I don't flip flop on the issues like great socks. Yes, socks are important. And the instructor he liked me was wearing shoes and I wish partway through that I could have taken off my shoes and just been hanging out in my socks. I think I would have been able to concentrate just that much better. Yeah, definitely. You got a good sock on and no shoes baby. You're going to be able to do your work, your life, your hang outs, ninety. Times better. 'cause you're going to be that much more confident collected cool and comfortable. That's what we liked call the four CS. And also it was a nice polished wooden floor. I could have done a risky business move though. I guess I would have had to take off my pants for that. Where are you wearing the best socks of all time? Bomas probably I can't remember for sure, but Bomba socks are excellent socks. You're telling me take on your feet and they make you feel like a king or Queen man and Ono podcast. This show you're listening to is supported in part by Boehm bus. You don't say, no, it's true. "You can start to get these press passes that I will be collecting and I'll sign and send him to you or whatever you want. Signed picture signed car, whatever. If you're the sponsor confirmation, Email winter. By the way. I thought for Labor Day I went on Thursday on the Ross Bohlin podcast because I've been here in great. Things about Ross and his podcast, and his name's obviously awesome. And I could just tell he was an awesome guy. I can tell why his podcast is having so much success. He's also a big Texans fan. So I thought since his Labor Day, a lot of people be out grilling at a barbecue at a pool, whatever thought we talk a little tailgating food tailgating drinks as well as the Texans and more on today's big show. So as promised very excited about today's guest because I didn't know a lot about him till I met some of his guys at the podcast movement conference. And then ever since then, I've been kind of checking them out a very popular podcast called the Ross Bohlin podcast. More importantly than that, he's got the best name I've ever heard. It's really awesome. There's not many of us. His name is Ross. Everybody should be named Ross, probably because it's awesome. Hello, Ross. How are you. I'm great Ross. How are you. See now that's a little bit weird. I'm doing awesome. You know, I, I loved my knee. How old are you? Russ, I dirty one years young. All right. So I'm thirty nine and I loved my name growing up until maybe high school I think was when you know the show friends? Yes. Did. The that guy is the bane of my existence. Like if I sold David Schwimmer somewhere on the street, I wouldn't punch him in the face, but I would want to and I would think about it because he was such a tweet on that show Rachel. That's not what Ross's are like roses are freaking awesome, and they would never be like a ritual, please dating. I really strongly dislike that guy. Yeah, listen. It's funny because I was coming up with topics for United discuss, and that was the first thing that came to my mind was Ross Geller from friends because as Ross that dude, torture does for a decade while that show is on the air because everybody thought we were soft as a result. He gave us all the bad name. See that. So that really bothers me everything. I still get Russ every once in a while like Russ's Ross is a cool name it. All right. So why is your? Why did you show so popular man. I think because I kind of have the unique ability to talk about anything. I warrant like I'm real open about my personal life and I touch on things. A lot of people might be a little hesitant to talk about. But unfortunately in a position where I, I can't get in trouble for pretty much anything that I say, which is nice. You know, there's no, there's no bars or limits to what we can discuss on the show. And I think that's what makes it people. People relate to it. Why? Why can you? Why can you not get in trouble. How do I put this in a in a politically correct way? I I don't. I was the first person that got hired here at the company that I worked for grand x. so I have a lot of leeway would would what I can do, which is nice. And I think after the first several episodes when they really like our, our management here really sought a response to what I was trying to do and how much people enjoy the authenticity and the, you know, like I mentioned, no-holds-barred openness of the show. It just gave me kinda free rein to run with it. And so I have until somebody tells me to stop, I won't. What would you say the shows about? Like if somebody asked you. Man, that's I'd say it's about life and and what it's like being a, you know, young dude in America, trying to figure it out and figure out what really matters and what's really important, but finds humor in it in every situation along the way. Like I want all my listeners to feel like they can learn from my experiences. I wanna learn from their experiences and laugh about it while we do. That's that's the general idea buying the show as a whole. I watched it..
