"Try to get to his people and see if there's any interest now. Obviously it's only one game in. Jacksonville has a complete change of course and becomes Close to a playoff team playoff team. Then then this would all go out the window. But if this has the kind of season that i don't think is a far fetched idea. Meaning that it's a three four or five win team. Urban meyer might say you know what i'm more of a college guy okay. I'm going to throw out a name while we're throwing out names. Yes because urban meyer can't be one and done in the nfl lane. Kiffin keyshawn likes lane. Kiffin i think too big a leap for the trojan administration to go back there. I mean if you're going to do that why wouldn't you go back to mark right now. Lane kiffin has this kind of aura about him that somehow mysteriously he can build it but lane kiffin does it in the same way he small balls it. He's throwing it all over the place. Now they run the ball more than Does but i still think you need somebody. Like i tell you bill. O'brien bill. o'brien might be in on this deal. Has it's kind of the year. And i don't think you can sell that. Luke fickle. yeah. I think that's the guy. Yeah luke fickle but the question is can he recruit the west coast urban. Trust me urban. Where they're where they're gonna try to butter their breath. Well we go all the way to the top and go pete carroll bring pete carroll back we're at rick yeah why we're at the listen and pe- could probably do it but pete has seems pretty happy there in seattle but i'm trying to understand you know they..

Usc rick new heizo former ucla head coach. Now working for cbs. Cbs college football analyst and also coached at washington and colorado. He knows the pac twelve and in other words and rick kind enough to join us. Explain the timing of usc's decision to fire. Clay hilton makes no sense. I mean klay had Been hanging on what i call coaching purgatory for the seems like the last three or four years. I mean he was hanging on hanging on in miami but to do it and week. Two is a little bit questionable because now it puts if you really think dante williams is a good coach you put him in in kinda harm's way because if he does well the players just like they did for mario cristobal and oregon are going to be clamoring..

"See, Ross understands gift giving, like nobody else. What a great great gift. You're right. The Tebow thing is just hilarious that some people said this is why they were doing it to begin with. And like now, come on Urban Meyer. He would no, I will be there. So I'll say this, okay? This just perpetuates all of the things that T Bo stands for and everything he does off the field. Right. So like this just gets his name back in the recognition and he'll go five more years with appearances. And marketing stuff based on all the hoopla like he's not done right, like even if you get cut. This is a huge win. It's the last piece of his speech We talked about never giving up and all I do the same thing about him. He's a genius. Ross here, genius man. We gotta do this again. Thank you. "Here but also the team that they potentially could have in future seasons. That's why I think you know the number 12 overall pick was a nonstarter for them for Matthew Stafford. Now who might become available. You know, they're gonna be a draft pick at where they where they select that's going to step in your one. I think that's doubtful. If you're looking for Kirk cousins or Matt Ryan to shake free, that might be a little bit more likely, But what's gonna be the cost of doing business? So I Late in the season, when when Lynch and Shanahan said that they expect grow upload to be the starting quarterback. I kind of took him out at their word. Little bit of face value, because I mean, let's face it Generally, they've been they've been. I do think that at that point, they were being a prophet that trooper What happened? They're fine. Hmm. Uh, see if we could reconnect with with Matt here. Soliz vamp for a couple of say, this basically just of what? What matters. I don't know what to make of that. Um, so I couldn't really hear it as I don't think they're gonna get themselves another quarterback. I think it's exactly what he said. The cost is too high, and they don't feel that It's that pressing of a need. Okay, Matt, finish up, please. Okay, well, I'm not sure where you left or right where I was cut off there, But I just think that they're in a spot where they You know, they're not in a desperation mode because the bigger concern, I think for them Would be not that Jimmy Garoppolo is their quarterback, and they're looking to upgrade from Jimmy Garoppolo. It's that they need to get. Jimmy grew up well on the field more than one game healthy, you know, and it's a different team, you'll grapple is not a great quarterback. In fact, if you look at it right now, I would. I would tell you that he's the fourth best quarterback in the NFC West. What? I also think there are three pretty good quarterbacks in the NFC West, and they showed with how they played in 2019 that he is good enough. Quarterback to at least win the division at least win home field advantage in the NFC and make it to the Super Bowl and have a 10 point lead in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl. So They can win with him. And the juggling act that they have to perform is if they're going to move on from him. Are you going to upset the rest of the team? Not upset emotionally. But just Are you going to have to take a gal out of your roster or future draft picks? That would impact the ability to be successful and competitive year after year. No matter it's such an interesting off season because you know, there's always talked to Shawn Watson wants out, but the Texans have no interest in moving in, You know, um, and you know, it sounds like Aaron Rodgers wouldn't mind leaving Green Bay, but it sounds like Green Bay's gonna fold the franchise before they decide to move him so Take those two chest pieces just off the board on just say, you know, it sounds too good to be true that quarterback that good to be available and just say yes, it is too good to be true. Those guys are not available, Um There's also still rumblings of other guys and one of them. I don't know who Evan Massey is. But he tweeted out today that the 40 Niners are still looking to make a move a quarterback. Her cousins, I'm told is the name to keep an eye on. You know, I don't know who he is, so I don't know anything about his his credibility, but I do know Ross Tucker and Ross Tucker said that he thinks Groppe that Kirk cousins gonna wind up at the 40 Niners and then Schefter to his prediction on where these quarterbacks are all winding up, he says Garoppolo with the Colts and cousins with the Niners, so If Kirk cousins was going to be a 40 Niner, How would that Based on what he's owed. And how do you see that transaction happening? If if that we're coming? Yeah, having you know the other names Air one thing, But when chapters saying that, you know, stand up and take notice a little bit What I do know is Kyle Stan again likes Kirk Cousins has always liked Kirk cousins, and I am fairly confident. That he would consider Kirk cousins as an upgrade over Garoppolo both by availability and just the prolific numbers that he can put up. But I would think that if Kirk cousins ended up with the 40 Niners That Garoppolo would go to Minnesota because right now the Vikings don't have really a quarterback on their roster Who could take over for cousins in the other part of that is I believe it be a $20 million caffe head and dead money for the Vikings. Meanwhile, the 40 Niners, they wouldn't be much of a price at all. I think it's 23 million. Check my numbers on them about things. 23 million if they were to acquire him. The big thing is next year, it just up to 35 million. The final two years of his contract. So when I kind of looked at this and try to piece together what might happen, I don't see the Vikings keeping Gore Her cousin's beyond this season. And in much the same way with the 40 Niners. To me, it kind of looks like this year is the year that All of those pieces are kind of sorted out a little bit, and I don't know that the 48 hours would want to commit 35 million to cousin for next year. So you know back Remember back in 2017 when John Lynch in college CNN and took over as they were mapping out their their strategy and part of the reason that they both Some were signed to six year contracts because that team was nowhere close to being able to compete for anything. And so you know Jed York gave them six year contracts. With the idea that they weren't going to get their quarterback year. One day we're gonna start weeding out some of the bad apples and getting in the kind of players they wanted, and they were gonna have a bridge quarterback. And then in 2018, they were going to sign cook ovens and pay him a big sum of money and boom. There's your franchise franchise quarterback because that's who college Danny had wanted. And if you recall, I know John Lane Choice said it kind of tongue in cheek. But when Jimmy Garoppolo fell in their laps middle of that season, John Lynch said, Yeah College CNN's kind of walking around in a state of mourning because now he knows he won't get Kirk Cousins and again, he said it Joking. But maybe not really joking, because that was the plan. And so part of all this stuff is yes. The plan is that Jimmy Garoppolo will be this 40, our starting quarterback in 2021 less Somebody falls in their lap and Yeah. Stafford. Matthew Stafford was not going to fall in their lap because it was going to take a very significant price to get him away from the Rams. So you know Jimmy Garoppolo fell in the 40 in his lap for a second round draft pick If somebody else falls in their lap that they really like and appreciate, and they can keep the roster Pretty much the same and not dive delve into their future draft picks. Then I'm sure that that is something that you know Bill. They would be open to doing that. But right now, I think that unless that happens, and you mention Kirk cousins, another guy who I would gotta toss out there, that is a possibility, if if the Falcons with their new Coach. GM decided that they want to start a new kind of like the Lions did would be Matt Ryan. So those air to guys to keep it ion but other way right now..

"We? Oh shoot. Was that really loud noise in my ear or on the air? There was this Okay, we're talking to Ross Tucker, former NFL offensive lineman now with the Ross Tucker football podcast, and also in West 11, another TV broadcast or you can get your NFL and I heard this loud, like rumbling in my ear, and I didn't know if that was me or if that was him, But maybe the storm the blizzard that he just shoveled through. Is causing him some issues. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence here on CBS Sports Radio, I don't know that I'm still so sure that the Niners are going to change quarterbacks, and I really don't think I believe that the Falcons are moving on from that, Ryan, But I could be totally wrong because I wasn't so sure that the Rams we're going to jump at getting Matt Stafford either. But as Ross points out these these two guys now atomic Bay and Stafford have a match. They feel like they can capitalize on Ross. I feel like or Lena just got you back. Is that the name of the that the name of the storm the storm? 14? I don't know. I don't know. Maybe a tower went out or something anyway. Hmm. Look, I really do think. Amy that There's going to be a lot of quarterback movement. You know, Adam Schefter. I had a fun bet on Fridays. Ross Tucker podcast. He took over 18 new starting quarterback 18. Yeah, I took under and sit with him just saying that makes me think. That there's gonna have to be some movement where you're thinking Probably not. And the fact that the Niners were in on Matthew Stafford. We all know Kyle Shanahan has a real affinity. Format. Ryan, the Patriots have to get somebody and I'm not sure who really would want to go there other than maybe Jimmy G. So I do think you know, I don't think it's over 50%, but I do think there's a decent percentage chance. That Matt Ryan's in San Francisco and Jimmy G's back in New England. That's interesting. What about the Shawn Watson? Yes or no? Would you trade him if you were the Texans? I think they're gonna have to. Yeah, it's just been so much negativity. And the thing is, I'm not even sure it's the Texans choice. In the sense that he seems pretty dug in. And A lot of these guys. They've got chips on their shoulder. Amy, that's how they got where they are. And I just don't think to Shawn Watson wants to back down from this Now, you know, it's almost like he's gone too far with social media and the trade request. I think it would be very hard for him to come back from that. Now. I think you kind of feel like you coming back. With his tail between his legs, and so I don't think you're going to do it. I think the Texans probably trade him sometime between free agency and the sort of the draft Except how long is he willing to play hardball? They own his rights for a long time, even if let's say for the sake of argument, he decides he's going to retire in the prime of his career. Yeah, He's not going to retire. But once he skipping training, can I only They'll even let it get to this. Okay? I think they'll try everything they can. Between now and March, 13th started the new league year to talk with him. T tell them their side of the story to try to change his mind. I don't think this organization with all of the negativity that they've had, I don't know. They want to get to the point where he's not showing up for training camp. They're finding him. I don't see the purpose. It serves to make this thing get even uglier. Ross Tucker with us here after hours, CBS Sports Radio. So let me tell you what I hear when people talk about Super Bowl 55. That that won't won't want. Tom Brady won't won't won't WOn't want Patrick Mahomes. What won't won't want goat won't won't want baby goat. It feels like it's all about the quarterbacks, which is wearing me out. Ross, Please tell me that there's going to be something more to this game, then just coverage of Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes. Well, I can't promise you that that there will be more than that at a lot of places. But I can tell you I will break down a lot of other things. I find interesting about the game, one of which, you know, I'll go to my area of expertise, right? The chief's lost Eric Fisher. You know their left tackle. So now they've got Mike Remmers and Andrew Wiley at the offensive tackle spots, and I said this before the Packers played the Bucks. But that's a big time mismatch. For the Bucks favor. I mean, and then guess what happening. It's the Packers Shack, Barrett and Jpp combined for five. Sex five sex. So when people say, Well, can the Bucks win? That's how they can win Check. Barrett and Jpp have to dominate those offense. Attack was again get a lot of pressure on my homes without the bucks having to blitz. I think that's their recipe for victory like it was against Green Bay. Oh, thank heavens. There are actually going to be other players on the field. And this is not just going to be a foot race or something. Because I don't know with the old man. The old man dog. Is that what Robert solid called it? For Patrick Mahomes. And then Tom Brady, who has cinder blocks her feet. That would not be very exciting. You know what, though? It is funny because you know, Tom and I were teammates. I don't think anyone will ever come close to what he's accomplished. The strange thing is that the only human being I'm aware of that I can see coming close to what Tom Brady's done. He's touching my homes. I mean, he's already in his second Super Bowl in his third year, he already three for three with conference championship games. So I guess there's a chance 100 years from now People are saying who was the best quarterback ever? Patrick Mom's of Tom Brady. So what do your players this week? It's kind of a weird Super Bowl week. Yeah, I'm just staying home. I'm doing a bunch of radio hits doing all my normal shows like.

"I'll Take both teams plus 3.5 Chiefs win and books. Win the game 3.5 not many like that. It's that half a point, right? That's always there so good at that. That's the one that always get you like. In fact, if you're if you're not betting just like outright if you're not betting money line Right? I would suggest if you you know, are betting on the favorites there. You might want to move the line 23 just just to protect yourself from that half a point. Desperately half a point that could get you but I mean, that shows you the should you know, on paper are a really good conference championship games. There's obviously that the chief's air an excellent team, and so were the Packers this year. But they are in no way. Uh, runaway favorites or even heavy favorites in this game, your dad the four best teams in the NFL, and none of them are, you know, are in there with a crazy weakness. You know, none of them are in there with a liability. At to be, you know, so we'll see. How things play out this week, and I will pick the favorites. I actually think buffalo might have. The better chance is upset. But what the hell do I know? I don't think any of us really know. At this point time I just was won over by green bass performance. Last week. I doubted them. Ah little bit based on the getting fat against their their division this year and only beating two teams with a winning record. But Tampa did handle Green Bay before and Ross Tucker just made an ex. Excellent point. When he was on here about the you know the defense of personnel. That Tampa has. They're also very aggressive under the coordinator who just has a pension for being really aggressive and how he plays, so I'm sure Todd Bowles is going to try and get after Aaron Rodgers. And that would not let him sit back and pick the Tampa Bay Buccaneers apart. But if you want to get involved in that conversation you can at 855 to 1 to 4 to 27 got about 10 minutes left here, 855212. 4 to 27. But before we do that, I'll get to all the topics I have not covered as of yet in another one..

"Chris Berman will join us on the program tomorrow. Red Farm was on TMZ sports, and he was talking about Patrick Mahomes. And he says that he thinks Mahomes concussion is going to be a test for the NFL. He will want to play whether or not he passed the baseline test that he took initially and the doctors feel he's able to this is this is a test for the NFL right now. To see a star player in a crucial crucial game. What will happen with their decision? We welcome in Russia. Tucker, the former NFL offensive lineman, host of Ross Tucker football podcast and you'll be working for Westwood. One will be working the sidelines for the F C title game. Kickoff will be 6 40 Eastern on Sunday. Ross, do we know if this is a concussion with Patrick Mahomes? It. Evidently, Dan is not a concussion. Having watched a couple times, I think that he had momentary trauma to the corroded Sinus area where the vagus nerve and borrow receptors are located. I think what happened was really a vaso vagal reaction. You reading something? That's uh, I read that. I read that this morning from Dr David Chow. The 20 years he was the Chargers team doctor. He doesn't think Mahomes actually had a concussion. He thinks basically, ever see. It's like a martial artist or a copper. Whatever hit someone like here, he thinks that when Mac Wilson came up with his right arm And hit him and he said in 20 years, he never saw it in football, but based on the different reports that air leaking out and the video that's what he believes happened And he doesn't think Mahomes will have any problem. Getting clear Cause doesn't make you really had a concussion, but also he has to go through the concussion protocol. How long does it take you to go through the protocol? E. I mean, you could say, Look, I don't have a concussion. But if you're in the concussion protocol, you have to go through the required steps, don't you? Yeah, and one of them is a full practice. So I don't think we will hear that. He is cleared until Friday afternoon. Maybe Saturday morning because they'll probably take it easy with him today, maybe does a full practice Thursday. Then he meets with the independent neurologist, and I know Dan. There's a lot of conspiracy theories out there. I understand that. But they do real. They really do have independent neurologist. They're not affiliated with the team, and those people have to clear them. And they do that for a reason. They want to make sure there's somebody who is not affiliated with the gene because there'd be a heck of a lot of pressure on that team Doctor. If that's who was in charge, it's really out of everybody's hands Other than that independent neurologist at this point Can you hide a concussion? No, it is. Yeah, I think you can. Um You know you can't hide what happened in the homes where you know he obviously stumbled to his feet and I actually think then even if whatever, Dr Chow said, even if he's cleared I got to think like I could just picture my mom right then saying That boy should not be able to play football. I saw him wobbly on his feet last Sunday, he should not be able to play. I could just picture Ah, bunch of people. My mom included believing. After what they saw last Sunday that that young man should not be able to play tackle football a week later. I don't have a problem with it as long as the independent neurologist Clears them, but to your point. Yeah, I mean, look, I had at least three concussions as a player. Dan never diagnosed, never said anything about it really back then. Unless you were knocked out and this is only 2000 won in 2008. But unless you were knocked out or you said something, there really was no way for them to remember One time sit on the bench. And one of the practice called Offensive line was like Tucker. You okay? And I was kind of in a in a fog there for good three or four minutes. Drew Bledsoe. Don't interception like a total idiot. I tried to make the tackle and Roosevelt Koven blindsided me. The first thing you hit the ground was the back of my head. And I was kind of in a daze for a good three or four minutes, but other than the one practice squad. Oh, Lyman, who saw me guy Tommy get killed. He was going person even talk to me about it. Huh? What if my home's can't play? What are their chances against Buffalo? Well, The only thing I would say is to two factors in that number one any played Really? Well. I mean, had he did a lot of really positive thinks he had one terrible interception. I have no idea what was going on there, but he played pretty well. Everything is sometimes. When there's a backup quarterback like that. I feel like number one. The other guys rally around him and play better and number two. Whether it's conscious or subconscious. It just seems like sometimes the other side. I don't know I don't I don't say they let up. But It's like, OK, It's not my homes. It just it changes things a little bit. I will say this though, Dan Chad honeys from my small hometown. Why missing Pennsylvania went toe Wilson High School. I know him for a while. He's to work out with his dad. And you know the way it is. I'm sure it happens to you all the time. Then where people tell you their kids are. Let me tell you about my son is gonna be good athlete. I remember working out with Chad and his dad. When I was in college, he was like, Yeah, I think my son to be pretty. I'm like, Yeah, sure is gonna be great. Turns out he started four years for one of the top 10 schools in Pennsylvania and then four years at Michigan Now is his 13th year in the NFL, So small world we're talking Ross Chucker, the rush Tucker football podcast. He'll be on the sidelines the F C title game with Westwood one How important is this game to Tom Brady? To his legacy Me? Well, I brought this up that his age a year removed from the Patriots, you just beat breeze. If you would happen to beat Aaron Rodgers at Lambeau when Rogers is playing at an all time level, he's your M V P. I'm not even getting to the Super Bowl yet. But I don't know if I'm overstating how big of a game. This is for Brady to do what he's doing. If you factor in the other elements here of No longer with the Patriots first year with Tampa Bay age 43 on the road, and you're going to beat Aaron Rodgers at Lambeau. My overstating it. No, I don't think you are. I mean, look. The only arguments people have left against Brady right is that it was it was all ballot checking, coaching, and then he's a system quarterback, blah, blah, blah, which both are laughable. But whatever. If the beats Aaron Rodgers, the M V P at Lambeau to go to a tent Super Bowl, where the new team Even those morons will have to shut up at this point, right?.

He is host of the Ross Tucker football podcast. He represents, among others, Westwood one and CBS Sports Network. You can follow him at Ross Tucker NFL. He is a very good friend of the program and my favorite thing about Ross. And he is always somewhere doing something. But you never know exactly what it is. So I'm gonna find out right now. Ross, my brother. What's going on? Hey, doing Ross, Where are you? And what are you doing right now? Besides talking to us? Hey, Jim. Always good to talk with you. I am in God's country. My man I am in north central Pennsylvania. I live down in Harrisburg Hershey, the state capital. I'm doing Bills. There's not a human being within like 50 miles of me right now, do it is roll. God's country. A Pennsylvania on my way up to New York State up to Buffalo, Man. That is amazing. I am so glad I asked Ross Tucker is joining us. That is tremendous. All right. So you mentioned Ravens bills? Why don't we start right? There is a former Bill Ross. How fired up? Are you for that match up? I'm incredibly excited. I mean, you think about the fact that last week Was 1995. Was £210. Draining threes and wing at the cheerleader's playing high school hoops. And then actually, five. There was no such thing is the Baltimore Ravens. Done like the Baltimore Ravens and even exist the last time the bills wanna play off game so It's crazy. I'm thrilled for those people. I'm so glad they got Josh. Alan, I'm so glad they have this good of a team, but I'd be lying if I didn't tell you. I'm not pretty nervous about tomorrow night. I think the Ravens are playing as well as any team in football. I think The bill's gonna have to play better than they did against the cold. That's for sure. I think you're right. Ross Tucker is joining us. I think you've got every reason to be nervous. And I think what they did last week, not even enough to get them here. But it won't be enough to hide them. Advance. Let me ask you this. You know how much the Ravens like their secondary Ross and because that confidence, you know, wink Martindale loves to bring the pressure. Patrick Mahomes has made them pay for that in the past. Do you think that Josh Allen is going to deal with that pressure? It's such a good call James. Such a good observation that that really is. The biggest key to this game, because first of all, The bills are going. Josh Allen has to play. Unbelievable. I mean, last week, he's the first guy with over 300 yards, passing 50 yards rushing and 70% completion percentage in a playoff game ever. And they still probably should lost, right. I mean, Frank Reich and some of the decisions he made. So Alan played incredible and they still could have lost. That is the bill's chance in this game. I think Is that Martin? Dale gets aggressive. He brings a lot of pressure. I know they like their corners. What? We've seen it, they can be beaten. They could be beat with double moves their aggressive We know A Peters likes to jump underneath routes. Marlon Humphries very aggressive, trying to punch the ball out, rather making jackals. I really think That is the bill's best chance to win, and that's in my mind. One of the only ways the Ravens lose the game is if they blitz so much that they allow the bills to get some big place. Ross Tucker is joining us. He will be all over that game. He played seven years in the NFL. Ross told me Ask you about the Browns. Almost nobody gave them a chance Last Sunday against Pittsburgh, they show up, they dominate the Steelers. Now they have to go to Kansas City, though, and deal with Patrick the homes and company. Of course, there's that notion. Ross that if you're going to be Kansas City, you run the ball. You keep the ball out of my home is his hands. You keep on the sidelines. We know the Browns love to run and they can do it. How well does this game set up for Cleveland? I think very well and I think that's exactly what they should do. It's interesting. My buddy Greg Cosell on the raw sucker podcast yesterday, though. He doesn't feel like that's a miss. I disagree with him, he said. Look, you guys scored 30 points, so you gotta do whatever it takes to score 30 points. If that means Baker's throwing the ball on first down and play action a lot, then that's what you got to do. I just love the Browns old line. I don't think Conklin's gonna play which really hurts, but I think if counsel was in there, I think they got the best old line in the NFL. And with sharpened hunt. I think they could pound the chief's into submission. You know, I don't understand it all. I don't understand the betting line for this game. I mean, 10 10 points, 10. I mean, nobody has explained that to me. I mean, the Chiefs have seven straight games. Seven straight. Where they won by six points or less that they won. That's all that matters. But when you look at those seven straight games, all those games Atlanta and Caroline and blah, blah, blah, and then you look it out. Cleveland's playing How in the world are you giving the Browns 10 points? I don't understand it. I mentioned on even money podcast. Maybe I'll be wrong and maybe that useful bawl him out. But I don't know how you can watch these teams play over the last two months and think that that's gonna happen. I love the Browns and the points, I think. Look, I would be surprised if they want Jim. But I wouldn't be shocked at all. And it wouldn't be like You have me on Monday's show in the Browns won, I was like, Oh, my gosh, Jim. It's one of the biggest upset. I'd be like, OK, Yeah, The chief hadn't been playing that great and the Browns ran the ball over him. It wouldn't be that shocking to me and Ross. I'm gonna be straight about this. Like I look at those games and I look at the matchups against the spread, and I think it's a wild weekend and a tough weekend in a hard weekend. I have heard that Hammer Brown's plus 10. How about you? Yes, I love Brown's Plus 10. I like the bucks getting three. I like I actually told people on even money. You know, I like the box and the Ravens on the Moneyline. You know whether they're getting three or 2.5, depending on where you're looking. The Ravens are going to beat the Buffalo Bills. As much as it pains me to say is a former bill. I think Tom Brady in the Bucks. They're gonna beat the state. So you either take the points or you could just take him on the Moneyline and pick him to win the game like I'm doing. So what about that Ross Tucker is joining us. He mentioned the Bucks and the Saints. I mean, Ross, it seems pretty hard to imagine that Brady and company especially given the weapons he has would lose to anybody, even a team as good as the Saints three times in one year, But I'd also argue It In those first two losses. They're not the same team that they are this week. How does Brady look to you Right now? In terms of physical performance and is comfort in that offense? What do you like about them this weekend? Yeah. I mean, I'm.

"On Westwood one. And he was also on the broadcast with colds and Bill's wild card game this past weekend. Ross thanks for joining us What's the weather forecast in Buffalo? Yeah, it's gonna be cold then, as you might imagine, And they're saying there's a decent chance of snow now only accumulating and injure so, but Lamar Jackson already talking about it. He was asked about it yesterday. He said he's never played in snow before. He doesn't want to play in Snow. Remember, he's a South Florida kid, So I think I already tweeted this morning. Dan at Ross Tucker NFL The first rule of Snow football Club is never admit that you don't want to be a part of snow football. I mean, like, it's like the more I think it's a little bit too honest. Like we know you don't want to play in the snow man, but it might be snowing Saturday night. So just embracing have fuck you. Imagine, by the way, then if it does a night game In Buffalo Ravens bills snowing. I mean, if it's no Saturday night because of God Realized it should snow Saturday night. But I think I would be more concerned about the wind in buffalo than this snow because by the time you play, you know you get going And I don't think that concerns you as much is the wind would if if I'm a quarterback Uh, you tell me what you would you be more concerned with the wind in Buffalo? If you're you know the quarterbacks or if it snows Yeah, well, depends on how much No right. I mean, I was up there a few years ago when the bills played, the Cole said it was like an absolute monsoon of snow. The whole time was like a blizzard the entire game. So that's a totally different story doesn't sound like it's gonna be like that. When there's absolutely Maura factor, Although I'll say this, then the bills cannot run the football. And Zach Moss now is hurt. So there's anything I mean, I would argue that the more implement the weather right whether it's wind or snow or whatever. I think that plays into the Ravens hands. You're the Ravens. The last six games have had the most rushing yards of any team in a six game stretch since the fifties. I mean, they've had more rushing yards last six games than six NFL teams had the whole year. Meanwhile, the Bills can't run in the lich. So I think the worst the weather, the better. It is for the Ravens. Quite frankly, Yeah, I thought that the Ravens we're going to be the dangerous team that nobody wanted to face because it almost felt like and you've done the research on this, You know better. Something.

Yeah i was. I was sat back and forth it action. There was a wide receiver for alabama. Jalen waddell who was playing. He's supposed to be a top ten top twenty. Pick who had like a major major ankle issue. And i saw you tweet. Something about it at anju brand. She's kinda wanted to get your thoughts because you know. He has some idea of who his agent will be. I just found the whole dynamic interested what he was doing out there. The tweet you mentioned. Was i get it your tough and i get it. You're committed to your teammates. But why Specially when the lead blossomed to twenty points. I didn't understand it. But i know you know. We all have different feelings about sports and team and commitment in those kinds of things as everyone knows i slapped on the business side. There was no business reason for him to be out there. There really wasn't Whatever draft position he has he was not going to improve it by playing hurt. I don't understand but you know again. Put yourself in the shoes of a twenty year old. That is playing his last college game. You want to be out there you know to me is sort of. Look at the coaches and doctors to write. Who's making that call. If you're the team doctor do you let him play. When he's limping around out there. So i i you know. I think you've gotta look at the adults in the room. Players wanna play porcelain. Wanna play. And i don't know what is agents people are saying. Well his agent when he hires. Him's not going to be. I'm sure he's got an agent not officially before the game. But i'm sure he has had discussions and no one would have advised him to play so that's interesting Reminds me twenty years ago back in the day. Ross when represented ricky williams he played in the hula bowl. Not not the the all star in hawaii. Yeah and uh. You shouldn't do this and he did. He really wanted to So it had no. It wasn't going to help him so that.

I want to ask you. I i said this earlier. I never talk politics. I don't care to you. I don't follow it closely enough. Set her up. My question is about the bella check medal of freedom. Thing is that is there. That was a business of sports thing. Andrew in other words like realizing it's not good for the business of bill. Bella jacker the business or the new england patriots if he goes in accepts that award. It's funny say don't talk. I got a tv request yesterday or two days ago. And i don't really turn down tv requests. Because i think it's good for my brand cetera. But i turned it down but here. I am hugging you. Manage my question was. Is there a chance. There's a business with sports element. That's all i'm asking. You know yeah. I think it's good for the brand It's hard because you have to say. Well you know. He is friends and has been a supporter of the president. All these years and is that a hollow move. I don't know But if you're look from the brand right. What's the best decision this week right last week this week. Clearly but if. I'm doing an interrogation into bill belichick. I'm gonna you know not leave it at. Hey hey you turned down that. I'm gonna ask what about your lifelong or just leave it at that. So one of the things. I wanted to get into with you. How about this. Jared year andrew. The guy was on the colts. Practice squad the last two weeks they activate them on game day and he starts ordered saturday's playoff game. I called against the buffalo bills tack indianapolis colts games over now. The packers signed him colts. Practice squad and i think you'll start but maybe he will on saturday against the rams. I mean you wanna talk about a weird loop on. This guy has made a lot of dome been around for a while. It's weird that guys like earlier and devante freeman who the bill signed the practice squad. Yesterday are even practice squad eligible as much as they played as much but for a guy potentially start back to back playoff games for two different teams andrew. Like i don't know if i want to credit his agent. Maybe agent told the coats. Keep him on the practice squad because he wants to keep his options open. Yeah i mean maybe it was part of deal. I think you're right. This is a kogas football and we sort of hatton were now in january so we kinda take these rules for granted now but they're so different. They're so different this up and down on practice squad at the point you made. We have tenure twelve year fifteen year vets on practice what. We've never seen this in the history of sports a history of football but we may see it. you know. i'm already getting questions as i'm sure you are is what would you like to see. Continue from this covid year. That is one the easy transition team practice. Squads and the lack of restrictions on veteran experience in practice squads..

"You know the one place you don't wanna be in especially nfl because the cap you don't wanna be bad cap bad team that right. You don't wanna be any of those three things but the combination is bad so you can be bad team young better than bad team old. And they're older teen nc a lotta guys flushed out. Obviously the two receivers. I think everybody thinks they're moving Which whether cut or trade. Which is to sean jackson. Now sean jeffrey and that's a weight of financial weight people get back to this carson wentz and people are like andrew they'll trade winds doesn't matter they'll take the cabinet. Listen they didn't trade alshon jeffery. They didn't cut out jeffrey. Because of exactly the apps it was cheaper to keep him and now they can. So they're going to get rid of some of these older players. And what is it you know. I think it's kind of cliche to say well. That's a transition the probably do better. You're the do better than four wins with a young team. So i think it's all about setting expectations and you're right you know peterson doesn't wanna start over. All coaches like their older players for certain reasons Unlike to bring back security blink. Get lack of a better word towing with andrew. Brandt here on the ross tucker football podcast and business of sports simulcast this week. There's a lot to get into. You know. I never get into politics andrew before the eagles quick story doug peterson i'm a fan. And the reason. I'm a fan and i laughed when people panned the higher couple years ago and thought they should hire ben mcadoo while sudden He's been a great. He was a great teammate. You know the packers just He was the guy. I called every off season after. I struck out signing veteran quarterbacks. Right this is before at drafting aaron rodgers of the l. One two three era. "Absolutely love it and as usual as you might expect the second week of the off season. There's a lot to get into. And i think we have to start with what happened in philadelphia. Yeah primarily because it seems like you know pretty much everybody involved. You know on sunday andrew. The news came out that doug peterson might not be safe and he was going to have a second meeting with jeffrey. Loria florida. Next thing on monday. Doug peterson out as head. Coach of the philadelphia eagles. Your reaction had a big reaction raw losses. I have some personal interest here knowing all the parties. In bob jeff. Lurie howie roseman. Doug peterson and other people new organization having consulted there many years ago with joe banner. Who's no longer there And then having a personal interest in doug which explain a couple minutes. I have to say even though. I'm a huge fan of doug peterson. I'm not surprised. And this goes back to everything talked to you and everyone else in the world about the last month which is carson wentz is not going anywhere so with carson wentz not going anywhere. The ownership looks at okay. I've got that Which dwarfs i repeat dwarfs the investment in coaching. Not only doug peterson the whole staff is. What twenty million dollars compared to hundreds of millions of dollars into into carson wentz and draft picks leading. Nick foles go and trading. Sam bradford so listen. This is the decision. The business of sports they're not gonna trade carson wentz. So what's the option fix it whether starter backup. They gotta fix them. And i think that ownership determined because of whatever has happened personally emotionally in on the field between coach peterson and carson that. He's not the right guy to fix him. So i think this move is made about fixing carson wentz. I don't even wanna get into whether starts whether backs up. I have said stood on a table. He's not getting traded because of the financial consequences. So they got to fix them and peterson's not gonna. You're right about the rumors. And i think what happened in the meetings was doug was like you know. I'm not a first year head coach. You know trying to get a job. Now i've got gravitas. I've got skins in the game and they're telling me you gotta do this. You got to do that. You gotta fire. You gotta hire not hire this. So i'm thinking doug is like. Yeah i'm out and it wasn't so much i'm it was a firing but we kind of saw it in the weeds Over the last week. I thought it was interesting. Andrew listening to jeffrey loria. The eagles owner talk on monday. He really made it clear that he feels like he has a good understanding of where the franchise is right now and at twenty twenty one he might have used the term transition year and that doug peterson as a coach. That's not your reaction right is to go through a transition year. I don't know if doug peterson would have even survived the transition year. So listen jeffrey. Loria talk and i guess. I would say it made more sense to me that the eagles almost sounds like the eagles philly. They need to go through a little bit of a rebuild and doug peterson either doesn't want to or you know doesn't need to be a.

Cowboys vs Saints: Previewing the Saints defense
"Gregg love and we have a good Thursday night matchup to break down. And that's absolutely the case tonight. Let's start saints Cowboys. What do you think about these teams? Obviously you watched them last week on thanksgiving. What's interesting to you about these teams in this match him? Well, I think what's interesting to me is is sort of a macro view of this game. Roth because now we're in an era in which people believed that the only way you can win in the league. And I guess what a Super Bowl is what a high powered offense that puts up a lot of points that the aerobically has the ability to put up forty any given week with the saints. We know can do that to Cowboys would not fit into that category. They're built old school. It's a run game coun- Dacian with a high level foundation back. It's an execution run game without much misdirection. And deception as we see with a lot of teams in the league. And it's a pretty basic pass game that by NFL standard. Would probably be considered somewhat remedial elementary. So to me, this sort of interesting point and not at this one game will decide one way or the other. But it's sort of interesting to me to think about it in a larger world view as to whether the Cowboys are theoretically built structurally to win a Super Bowl that kind of team. What do you think? I think they would their defense would have to be really really good. I think because I don't believe that offensively. They would be able to generate enough points. Now that again, if you defense is really really good, and you can win games twenty three twenty maybe twenty seven Twenty-three, then guess, but they're not built to get into a shootout. If that's what you believe is required to win meaningful playoff games and Super Bowls right now. I can't wait for the matchup. I I love watching the Cowboys defense right now. And I'm with you, Greg. The Cowboys might not be created. But it feels like what they're doing right now. It's kind of working. Well, yeah. I mean, people when singing mind they're also six and five we're not talking about a team. That's you know, nine and two. So they're they clearly have a distinct profile we talked about it. And that's the way they have to play. I mean, look it always helps your past game when you can throw six yard passes or fifteen yard passes that become long gains every team loves that. Because those are not high risk throws. Although I will say that I thought that the ninety are touchdown to Cooper was Prescott. Who was clearly Prescott. Best throw of the game versus the Redskins and one of his best of the season. Because I thought that he did such a good job with progression reading and then making a tight window throw. So I thought that was actually one of his best throws of the season. And how about Greg drew Brees throwing touchdown passes to four undrafted free agents that a lot of people have never even heard of. Yeah. That that's true. You know, breezes just a joy to watch for someone like myself because now again, we reached an era to where people talk about quarterbacks that have to be able to run around. And and I'm not going to sit here and tell you that that's not a good trait to have that time, but to watch a quarterback play at the level that he plays from the pocket with his understanding of what he's seeing before the snap. The ability to move and manipulate defenses after the snap and the accuracy with with Keith rose throw after throw is remarkable. But I think another thing that is kinda lost with the saints because

Craig, a lot to talk about, obviously we got a big game tonight between the Bengals and the ravens, both of whom had double digit wins in week one. But I, I wanna start with a week ago and the falcons and the eagles. And obviously, you know, the penalties was not real fun, but net. What? What were some of the things that really stood out to you or interested you from that game? Oh, well. That's a pretty broad based question. You know, that was a game that was. It was a tough game to watch just because it was it was sloppy football, which I guess we should expect for week one. I think the eagles defence to me continues to stand out. They do some things that are pretty intriguing on the defensive side of the ball. As far as their coverage concepts, we all know they have a good defensive line. We know Fletcher Cox, a great player. We know that Cox can line up in numerous spots at the detector position and physically dominate guards and and centers. But you know, to go into the weeds just a little bit raw. They do something where the coverage that I think is in the cover three family. But what they do with it is really, really interesting keeping the single high safety really low almost like he's a robber and their corners playing with some cushion, but hard to the inside. It's a really interesting concept for teams that liked to throw the ball inside which the falcons do and actually their opponent this week, the bucks do. So it's just a coverage that I notice. To last year that they started using and they used it quite a bit against the falcons. And I think you'll continue to see it based on the opponent for people that don't know what a robber is, Greg. Can you explain that? Well, that's where you take a player and and you sort of sit him right in the middle of the field. You can do it at different depths depending on what Petit killer defense playing the eagle's actually use the so-called deep safety as a robber normally, teams do not use a robber who's who's the aerobically the deepest defender in the middle of the field, like teams like the patriots play a coverage that we call man, we call one robber and they take a safety and he is the robber who kind of sits maybe ten twelve yards from the line of

You have the NFL matchup show on ESPN and of course the great work you do for NFL films as well. Let's start with the Thursday night or Greg eagles falcons. What are you most intrigued about in this matchup. Oh, that I'm actually intrigued with how the falcons choose to play offense with their personnel. For this reason, Nigel Brad will not play in this game, and it would seem to me that the falcons would wanna stay with base personnel quite a bit which they do. They do often play with two tight. They do play with a fullback, but I think they would want the eagles linebackers assuming the eagles play with three linebackers. They may decide to go big nickel and play Graham, the safety almost as a linebacker or Jenkins can do that as well. But I think you wanna put the eagles in that situation Ross and then line up with a lot of base personnel. Obviously, they won't do that on third nine, but I think you wanna see how the eagles are going to handle that with nine zero, Brad out of the game because the only real starting linebacker they will have out there is Jordan Hicks, their middle linebacker, and he's coming off. I believe in Killys injury. Yeah, I was gonna ask you out of the guys other than once al-shabaab Jeffrey and TIMMY Jernigan as well as Nigel, Brad, which guy hurts him the most. And it sounds like you you think it might be Brad them? I think it could be yes. The other intriguing element to this game is just what you mentioned with the eagles missing Jeffrey and MAC Hollins who will be out as well. I think that you'll see a lot of two tight end sets, and I think the rookie Dallas guttered we'll get significant snaps in this game. So that's the on that side of the ball. That's the the other element that intrigues me in this game. Totally agree. You know, Greg eagles fans are very nervous about Nick foles and the fact that he's not played well in the preseason. Do you have a read on that? I mean, he has had a history in his career of being up and down guy, a major history. There's a very wide variance in his play. I think he needs to be schemed. I think the eagles did such a good job with that and in the playoffs last year. And I think you'll see a lot of that. They'll be a major chess match. Going on here, don't forget. Teams of now had an off season all teams, but certainly the falcons have had an off season to figure out how better to defend run, pass option concepts. And I know the eagles are trying to expand those concepts as well. So I think that that's a critical dimension to this game.

Dave Mason and betting online
"I will go to the big show. Dave Mason. Always glad to be joined by the manager of the sportsbook at Beto online dot AG. You know, I tell you guys about them all the time, and Dave is joined us a number of times on the even money podcast, but never really here on the Ross Tucker football podcast. But as sports betting going more and more mainstream wanted to at least get Dave on here a couple times just to get kind of a feel for the lay of the land for this season, Dave. So I, you know, I know a lot of people in the raw soccer football podcasts aren't as familiar with sports betting, and maybe they're just kind of getting into it now. So I don't. I start Dave, which teams this year have been most bet so far as we sit here August twentieth the most money is come in one way or the other on there. Season Wintel numbers because it seems like that's the most popular preseason bet is just looking at teams seeing what the line is for how many games though winner lose, and then pick in the over the under. Right? That very popular way that you don't don't long with the Super Bowl and the conference and patients. But yes, season winds is always very popular. Season when it comes to bend, sees a wins. It's it's very similar to a game total. People like that. The the players like the bet the overs no difference here. I, there's some sharp action to Sharp's loudly season win totals should we had star sharp action on bills under six and a half? That's what it opened up. They're always down to five and a half Seattle under eight and a half that's down to eight wins. As far as public plays the patriots over. Of course, people are always been patriots over the Browns over that got bit people at betters are really strong on the Browns this year. I mean that there are biggest Super Bowl liability that our biggest liability for conference champion conference champions of the AFC, their base liability out any divisions when when the AFC nor so people are big on the Browns this year. Some other. Some other teams are exposed on the Texans over. That's that's a big exposure. The Rams early, we got bet on rans over a lot to how Rams are hot team that people are betting the saints over. So those are some of the biggest exposures for sees a win totals. Unusually Dave people are more likely to bet the over then the under. Right? Yeah, it's just like a game total. You know, just like a total for Monday night football game. Most people are been the over and that stat similar here. You know, people are bad people usually, but the overs or usually room for the unders in the games and unders for the season win totals as well. And that's no different here. What about so far through couple of weeks of the preseason? Have you seen any movement for any of these teams through the first two weeks? Maybe the teams with the rookie quarterbacks. Have you noticed any changes through the first couple of weeks? I know you said Seattle a little bit. Have you noticed any changes based on the first couple of weeks to the preseason. Season win totals not not a whole heck of a lot of. Texans moved a little bit that Browns moved a little bit of, but Brown's of moved over to that. They started four and a half. They're up to five and a half over Vina's one fifty. Texans move down a little bit, but spreads have moved a little bit, but not not so much this, not too much on the season win totals the action's really move with that a little bit worn. And like I said, and you know, most of the action is yet to come in to you know it. It's even those he's been have been for Bonn. So mean you know, with all the football better turn this week next week in a following week, we've yet the book about eighty percent of the action on these two sewage still a lot of boom at the com.

Mike Golic Jr. talks ESPN and the NFL
"Really excited today to talk to one of my favorite people in sports media. He doesn't unbelievable job. It's hard to actually turn on ESPN radio and not hear it went one AM when it's eight AM on it's noon. I, I swear. There's some days there where he goes for like fourteen straight hours. It's really, really impressive. He's Mike Golic, junior had an outstanding career. Nerd aim was in the NFL for a while and guy. I got to know a little bit gosh along time ago. Now, at this point, Mike, what's up, man? How are you. I'm doing good Ross. I appreciate it. Man. It's been. It's been nice. Listen, the one thing I learned and know Frank Verduci a mutual friend of ours and former coach brought us together for one thing I learned from you. Basically, everyone else in footballers can do, and I'm sure that no matter what I'm doing a lot. So it's a lot harder for ESPN to fire me if they ever start to get wise to that start to think otherwise. Yes. So give me the breakdown. So are you still doing like the cold first and last still? Yup. So I got first and last four to six. AM the last month has been sort of weird because you know in radio, the summer is not really a big ratings bonanza. So they tell everyone take their time off, which means that I end up doing it a lot. So I get to fill in for dead and trae on golick a window when they're out. I've been filling in the Dan lebatardshow for us on ESPN which is ten AM to noon eastern to one eastern. And so I kinda just find myself in a lot of different spots over the last few weeks of the summer and. Try and make myself useful man opportunities. There are few and far between so you make sure they're, they're dot apart woman. I have a six AM radio show, so I got crazy respect for you having a four to six show, but are you not? Are you not on golick and wingo with your dad and trae every day anyway. Yeah. So I do two hours with them every day. I go that four to six for me. It's so radio there. So I got two hours by myself before they get started. And then I go over there with them for the first two hours of their show sort of bridge that morning gap, you know, dead and Traer both, you know, fifty five plus year old guys.
