Is the SEC's Proposed Crypto Custody Rule a Threat to the Industry?
"We're starting with what I see as one of the big crypto battles right now. It's something that might seem subtle, but I think could actually have a pretty dramatic impact. I am talking about a new proposed SEC crypto custody rule. And to get a sense of the significance, I'd point to this tweet from Tyrone Ross, who wrote, I really don't think folks understand how damaging this particular part of the new custody rule is for the space as a whole. No adviser in their right mind will attempt to comply with this. So what is going on? Well, a group of crypto players, including the blockchain association, andreessen Horowitz, and coinbase have all filed letters calling for major revisions to the SEC's proposed changes to custody rules. Jake javins gave the blockchain association tweeted, in February, the SEC proposed a new investment adviser custody rule that would restrict capital formation and put U.S. investors at greater risk. Today, the blockchain association filed a comment letter explaining how the proposal both contradicts the SEC's mission and violates federal law. Miles Jennings, the general counsel at andreessen Horowitz wrote on Friday, we filed a comment letter to the SEC's safeguarding custody rule. We did not mince words. The proposal is another misguided and transparent attempt to wage war on crypto, and if past, it will result in investor harm, market inefficiencies, and poor capital formation. Coinbase's chief legal officer Paul grill wrote earlier this year, the SEC proposed major revisions to a rule requiring RIAs to hold client assets at qualified custodians. Today we're adding our comments to the pile to explain where this proposal is misguided and how it can be improved.

And Trump went after his father, went after Cruz's father and the guy's wife, and at that point, and honestly, I think it would have made Trump or rather cruise a much stronger candidate down the road and I think he would have earned respect from Donald Trump for at least defending his wife's honor. I don't know, you know, I don't know about all that. You talk about the same stuff, and it will take a punch. At some point, you don't mess with a guy who's a pig. "Brett Stephens, for relief of The Wall Street Journal now with The New York Times. Ostensibly one of their two conservative. Columnists, the other one being Ross douthat. You're really pushing it. Well, my producer says I'm really pushing it. That's correct. But he's not a leftist. So that's a vindication of some sort. So Brett Stephens writes a column in today's New York Times. The mask mandates did nothing. Will any lessons be learned? So of course I've been telling you this for well over a year. But what would be, this is 2023 and what did the lockdowns begin? And oh yeah, in January, in March of 2020, that's right. March 2020. So I've been saying masks are worthless and sometime in 2020. Because I read, I did not know personally. My knowledge of masks and viruses was nil. But I did something the odds are your doctor never did. Doctors are profoundly intellectually un curious about their own profession, which is remarkable. If they're told something by their hospital, that's the end of the issue if they're told something by VA or their pediatrics association for most doctors that is all that they need to know. So people like my wife, which is maybe an unfair example because she does so much reading, but she knows so much more than 90% of the doctors in this country about the vaccine and about masks. And she does it because she decided to be intellectually honest.

Russian spacecraft loses pressure, station crew safe
"A Russian spacecraft has lost pressure with the International Space Station crew a safe. The Russian space corporation says an uncrewed supply ship progress MS 21 docking at the space station had lost cabin pressure, noting the incident didn't pose any danger to the station's crew. Ross cosmos explaining the hatch between the station and the craft had been locked so the loss of pressure didn't affect the orbiting outpost. However, Ross cosmos hasn't said what may have caused the cargo ship to lose pressure. The pressure drop follows December's incident with the Soyuz crew capsule, which was hit by a tiny meteoroid.

He was saying that they get the glass stuff out of wholesale liquidation. Okay. And sounds like they tried to do their best to recycle everything. They can. And get the dangerous stuff removed from electronics. So that's good. Yeah, that is good. But once within 5 minutes, you've pretty much decimated the room. What do you do with the other 9? Oh my God. Yeah, you have to do the mortar and pestle move. You're right. So it's nothing else. Yeah, so okay. Well, let's put these big chunks up on top of the drum and just kind of hit it. A bunch of times repeatedly. Oh are we having fun yet? Here's the punt of a bottle. I'm gonna throw it up in the air and hit it like a baseball, but first I'm gonna make sure I'm not about to hit drew or carry with my bat. Yes. Yeah, what you really do have to watch out for. Oh, yeah. Really do. It has to happen where people hit each other by accident. And I did ask the person out front about that. I said, I don't remember if I actually said you're not gonna give us a warning about hitting each other or what, but is it something about that? And he said, if you do that, that's on you. Wow. Okay. Very lazy fair. All right. Okay. And then after a while, I'll just start jumping around and tramping on the glass. And this is where I noticed actually as we were leaving the room later, I noticed that I felt something under my foot. And I looked and there was this big kind of like wicked, large piece of curved glass and part of it was thoroughly embedded in the sole of my shoe. The other part curved around and it was poking into the side of my foot and I could kind of feel that too. You gotta watch your feet more rocks. Our investigations are just ways for you to torture your feet. Oh right, yeah, why is the most common denominator. So yeah, there were a couple times where I found glass embedded in my shoe, but my shoe did. You know, actually, afterward, Ross, oh, you're Ross. Afterward drew and I went out to dinner and we were both like, did you see Ross jumping on that glass? I would never jump on the glass like that because you were like jumping up and down on my glass. I was avoiding it. Well, when do you get the opportunity to do this? I never goodness. We were joking toward the end Michael. This could be another investigation doing the glass walking. But it absorbs so much energy and just kind of like it's a rubber and you're glue. That was, I think the best part of that room though, because at least in that case, I would hit it hard enough. Some of that just like friendly exhaustion feeling would build up. Runner's high, dopamine. Whatever that is, like, that like, oh, I tired myself enough that I feel a little good for a few seconds. You're tired yourself. That's red lightly. I tired, I retired. You hit that thing, but you're like, well, I'm not doing anything to it, but I'm sure exhausting myself. Yeah. It's just extra absorbent. At the end, we are just kind of like watching this clock behind us. High up on the wall of course to avoid the splatter and just think like, oh, three minutes. Yeah, so before we get to this exact rage room place, I also want to mention there's a different version of rage rooms that this could be confused with. And these were a little more popular, I believe in like the 60s through 80s. They may have gone by additional names, but sometimes they're called rage rooms. And this was where you would go with your partner because you're specifically mad at your partner. Maybe it would be a friend or a colleague or whatever, but you'd take the person you are mad at.
