"On top player in a big match. They were all affected by the matches that come before for mary and he was physically pretty spent. So perhaps there is a case you can make the actually the first round might be the best possible. Look he's got physically at getting to sit to pass. Six passes never perform that well at the us open. I think he's never been beyond the third round. He still yet to prove that he likes these conditions. I'm still taking sits pass for the win. But i think you can build that up as another moment you know. Mary's talked about wanting more moments wanting to match his game. I think i think there is a way to look at this. Draw as in. Okay drool for mary. Oversea it's a tough one but the conditions might be there that he can challenge and he. We haven't really seen in challenge atop layer slam. I i think it could be really good fun. Because i think andy murray is going to deploy everything he can which means getting onto the occasionally very teenage skin of stephanos sits bus. I really think he's going to try and bring out the the immaturity and really get to him. Which has which is costume matches. Recently has Yeah at murray's going to press that button then it's gonna be really good fun. I think i think i think there's something He he is looking forward to it. That much is clear. He's looking forward to the challenge. Seeing where he is. It's a good way to find out and yeah it's the scene of course of his first grandson singles title nine years ago which for actions that andy marry up again sits pass. That would be just really match such creative players you know. I think we're going to end up having missed a lot of andy. Murray verses xyz pliers and sits passes one of them. mary should if his body was was still. You know Healthy he would have had a little rivalry with sits fidesz. Medvedev missed now. And we're a little taste of it tomorrow. Well footer few of the highlights. From the first round taylor fritz against anex demo fabio fini against fatter pospisil shoddy bertini. This these are just good solid matches which could sorta go either way. It seems to me like hatching. Against loyd harris. These are people that have just had good runs. The established players. I don't think i'll necessarily be stopping one. I'm doing to watch all of them. From first to last you know probably be doing. David is being paid to watch a lot of them from facebook last. Say look so. Thanks to this podcast listeners. For encouraging that. Roberta about history. Against nick kiro style will be what we got on. Probably tomorrow night when we're recording this show which curious as having a rough time isn't he. He's not playing well at all. he's not winning matches. He seems a bit rudderless right now. Even more than normal is that is that fair to say yeah. I mean appealing for hitting corners on on twitter the five days out from islam not even specifying any credentials or qualifications required for the role. Just literally anyone. That's available location. Yeah it's not necessarily an indicator of being a great place but this there's never any logic really to any twenty pulls the baggage. Say who's to say he won't this time but i fear against somebody's professional is roberta It could just be really flat. is also very hard to to paint as the villain roberto. But he's sort of been forced into the villain role if you times has an see most notably the australian open against andy murray. Just just won't do it. He just so nice. Sticking on his a night match the toronto this not putting on ash putting the intimate arena. They're doing the best. Stop trying to happen. A couple of other good ones here camera. Nori against us. Alcatraz forty. I'll have to be scraping those off the course at the end of that match and i really liked the idea of casper root against jo wilfried song feels like two ears of tennis player. Just clenching and also evoke. Carl vich against andre rube lab ego convict. She's qualified. And i think nadal would say he's forty two and a half and i think he's the oldest man to player grand slam since ken rosewall and he's drawn rube lebanon in the first round and rube levers lost twice to is this year. Hasn't he never beaten is ner three head to head so he he struggles against his nurse. So let's see how it cokes with karlovic shit so i could imagine him. Can you imagine his reaction when he saw about drool. Oh fuming just just a permanent state of fuming okay and finally in little rundown. We've got richard gasquet who seems to be indecent form at the moment up against anew methodist so yeah medvedev's progress will be fascinating again throughout the course of the tournament based on his latest meltdown. It at sea we can just sorta hold it together. The the women's draw is just so much more interesting just so much more stacked with names and players that i do wanna stop. An watch is my immediate reaction when we were doing the the predictions before coming on air. Tonight i was really struggling. I changed my mind quite a few times about who was going through into these quarterfinals. And i mean even when you look at the first round you've got curly cover against Sarah saribas tormo. You've got a vast diverse. Cr cover ostapenko puerto rosca camila giorgi against simona talip-. She can't catch a break in new york. Let county no no..

Freddie says is gonna be the top four The two semi-final Boll is here are the rose bowl over in pasadena and the sugar bowl over in in new orleans in new orleans For rosewall he has ohio state and clemson for the sugar. Bowl has alabama in oregon. He projects that the national championship which will be played here in miami at hard rock. Stadium will be between ohio state and alabama adult. No nothing no love on notre dame 'cause technically asterix aside when to be in the line for it or is probably certainly it's certainly there. They're they're in the running for it on freddie just told me something away. He gave me an updated. List of foles Okay so rose. Bowl is now in ohio state. Sugar bowl is now alabama notre dame. There you go He gave me that list a couple of couple of days ago This is interesting. He projects pittsburgh in. Ucf in the military bowl. Maybe we can get some revenge on them. Those bastards And then the other near six bowl georgia's cincinnati in the peach bowl Oregon byu in the fiesta bowl And orange the miami northwestern what i would love more than anything else and god. I wish i could go to this and cover it because oh my god. It would be incredible. There are some people who project that miami and florida would play in the orange bowl. Oh my god what the cv numbers would just spiked. Then 'cause it would although although i mean hard rock stadium only giving like what twenty five percent capacity something and. Yeah they mean. The dolphins and hurricanes are both hose. People so yeah so still a twenty five percent capacity. But it's got everything you want if two of may it's it's the two closest power five schools to miami florida which is on the what five hours from from miami five six hours. Maybe give her. I'm gonna speak for. And i hope that doesn't happen engine. I really don't. I don't want it to happen anyway for very valid reason which was think. Ufo win. and i couldn't deal with the hubris thought. Miami hubris was bad alot. Oh you do not need to not need to lecture me on of uf but for the dawn like you know people in our region who had lived through it right in south florida you know growing up as high in high school and then go into college and then even going to law school like 'cause you know how do i wanna say this is like the high school kid who squirrelly but it's like is that i got up and everything like that since we're in the holiday season if you guys remember christmas story he's skunk or whatever the guy that's next to For who's fergus. Todi todi with the little leather jacket. You know he's kind of punk but some people might be scared of it. And then we get to like you f- and i i don't know. Us is just like man. I don't. I don't wanna go like super dark. So i'm i'm gonna even avoid that for a second. I'll tell you avoiding dark humor going on when i tell you off air what what who. I would equate it to. "In terms of board well well. You know I I helped start the ATP in one, thousand, nine, hundred, seventy, two with Jack Kramer and it was a players only union, and we had the Wimbledon boycott in seventy three, which none of the players today even know about her remember with sixty eight players withdraw from Wimbledon after they made the draw made the seedings, and they wouldn't let Nikki pillage play, because he refused to play Davis Cup, and the yes, or no, you can't play Wimbledon women mistakenly accepted that and sixty eight players led by cliff. Drysdale Arthur Ashe Stan. Smith John Newcombe. Rod Laver Ken Rosewall. All the best players in the world pulled out of the nineteen seventy three Wimbledon championships, but what did that? Do it unified a players union because he had skin in the game, they had given up a lot to pull out. Sam Smith's is the only defending champion in the history of Wimbledon, who could've played the next year and didn't play you. Go back only wars of interrupted that thing, but stand chose not to play, and so we had a very strong union, and the seventies and eighties suddenly there was a whole nother political battle and the MVP TC council was. was cancel in one, thousand, nine, hundred nine when we won the Volvo. Lawsuit about them and Hamilton Jordan was the new head of the ATP and he suddenly decided because he lived in Ponte Vedra very close to the PGA April the tour and he said let's have a tour where we have players and tournaments, fifty fifty equal representation, and we run a new thing, called the ATP tour and will run all the tournaments. Some parts of the tour been extraordinarily successful for the players, but your question John I would have much preferred a tournament, directors, association and a players. Association Labor, and Management Yeah. And you know and then meet every five years and negotiate a collective bargaining agreement so that you can run this accordingly, but at the end of the day a better question is. How do we make America at Tennyson? America more more popular I mean what drives me nuts, and this is why take a merger of the two associations now that their structure or you restructure the ATP and players only tournaments, only which I think. Is probably too big of a problem, but it's a partnership now. That sometimes doesn't work. Why because tournament director sitting there all have steak? conflicts of interest with their own tournaments that they represent, and they want players, but basically the players want you know fewer tournaments for the top players and bigger money, and the tournaments want a more tournaments and less rise money for the so there's a conflict, structurally a lot of ways I'm hopeful and positive that y'all Ganzi may overcome that, but to answer your original question if we had to separate Clare only and tournament director only. Representation I think that's a better more equal effective way of getting the game bigger John Because in Europe as you know. Soccer's one some countries basketball's too, but tennis is in the top two or three in every country in Europe. Number Eleven or twelve in America and You can see that reflected in the rankings exactly. Let me. Let me ask you this. You were a longtime agent as well. A player comes to you and he says. Donald you got help me here on the world's number one player, but my ego got ahold of me I. Put on this exhibition during cove. It I wasn't particularly cautious. People got sick including me I'm getting hammered worldwide. Here helped helped me get my good name back. What what would you tell the site pathetically player? Well the hypothetical players pretty obvious. John, but I would tell you can first and foremost. Public Apology for your stupidity the way you dealt with the problem and then turn very hard to changing your mind, and and trying before all this happen the hypothetical number one player is that I. Don't believe in vaccinations I don't want to come to the US Open because I can't bring, but one I in my aunt's rise five. And I would just it would be very easy for him to turn that around. If he came out publicly and frequently to really support what the sport is trying to do, in light of the virus I, mean we have a terrible situation and the players are. Certainly the the lesser players not by that mean say from thirty. One hundred and twenty. They can't afford what's happening the top fifteen certainly again, but you know the next seventy five are really hurting financially and I think this hypothetical number. One player should speak out very strongly and very frequently on how to make it work under the circumstances for example support the USO support the French Open. Is There L. With or without spectators? Because then at least you have jobs and players and television, and the television ratings with no spectators are gonNA be a substantial. That'd be enormous in my opinion, right? let me ask you A. Question you and I a united captain, speaking over the past few years for the nineteen eighty-four, but for this book and Michael Jordan that I've been working on and I was curious what? Did did you watch the last dance? The idea I watched all what? What was that like for you? Well. Some of it was really exciting. I thought that Michael did a very good job. That you know. The the the NBA had films were magnificent and the only thing personally. I didn't like much about it was I personally signed Michael in one, thousand, nine, hundred, eighty, four Dean Smith, call me on a Saturday morning with Michael, and his wife is mother. Dolores on the phone and I and asked me if I wanted to represent. Michael and I said sure he's a junior, and then Mike was on the phone. How do you feel about it, said well I I'm a junior I really wanna come back for one more year, but coach says I should come out now, and you know my mom and I were thinking about. Do you think I saw? Let me let me test the market and find out what teams would pay where you might go on the drafts, John Young remember an eighty four There was no rules I mean. You couldn't sign or even say you had an agent or you going to be eligible, so coach Smith always used me. To Talk to general managers, and we envisioned that Mike was gonna, go two or three I thought he might go after lives line that they in Portland drafted Sam Mbui, and so you know I managed Michael in Washington with pro serve for. Nine or ten years so nineteen ninety-two personally and He was phenomenal, a mark engage the first thing we did was put him in a Tuxedo holding a basketball, and we tried to cross over all color lines in order to market him, and he was tremendously successful, but so as I watched the last dance..

"Are you? I am wonderful. Thank you. How are you doing minus frog hair? Bigs finest wrong, okay? Yeah. Yeah. Big night. This is like your Super Bowl Marley. This is. Basically, you're what's his name? Tom brady. Time. Yeah. What's the sports announcers? No, no. Joe buck, and this is your Super Bowl. Joepat hair transplants. This is part one of the two part and massive. Finale of the bachelor man chase. I'm excited you understand the height of this. I do understand it. Okay. So they did what we all were dreading. I think the cliffhanger they left us last week. They left us on perhaps even bigger one last night. So that's the overall story is overall the episode was a little bit. It was a part one. It wasn't what we all wanted. They gave us some new stuff. But they ended it with the cliffhanger which was Colton to going to see Cassie, which is all we really wanna see Cass. He's the one who dumped Colton last week's episode. Oh, and that's when he ran over the juicy ran away and jumped the fence that is correct Alexis. Oh, man Marley. So what do you see him walk into her house or workplace? What's happening? He said, they're both you bring chocolates and some flowers, but that would have been a good idea had nothing in hand. Okay. They caught her before she was leaving Portugal. So that's kind of an interesting little time line there that she's still in Portugal despite having dumped Colton it might have been a day later, I suppose that she's still there. But so episode ended we're jumping right to the ending of Colton walking up to kassy's door in Portugal knocking on the door opening the door and saying, hey, and then they ended the episode because they are manipulative. Oh. Do. He didn't have any other choice. I mean, he basically said in the last episode, I'm not into you to other women Huey, and Dewey or whatever their names work out. So he had to dispatch them. That is correct. Yes. So okay. So let's go back to the beginning. Now. So following this show, basically turning into the Blair witch project when Clinton jumped over the fence everyone's whipping there might soften communicating walkie talkies running through the dark. Yeah. So they finally catch up with Colton. I do actually have a clip of Chris talking to Colton when they had actually found him. That is do you have any? Oh, I haven't. I haven't played Rosewall. Okay. Oh, oh, the Rosewall. Oh jas. Here we go. Here we go. Okay. Great. Well, oiled machine. On fights for this one for Cassie. Oh my gosh. Here we go. Here we go. And once again, that's that's you know, part of it the the expectation level entering the season. And you know, certainly, you know, we're not gonna have it. "So I looked into many ways to holistically heal the body and to allow your period to comeback naturally. And I started to look a lot. Deeper into just our menstrual cycle and for most of us. We don't really look into or to our period. We don't really know when we're automating in. We're not for us. It's just like, okay. You got your period just like shove a tampon in there. And like forget about it. And the thing is we're constantly going through different cycles in our menstrual system. So seed cycling as a practice that you can do to regulate your period, balanced, female hormones, and even if you are getting your period that this can still help, but it's very efficient. If you are having like irregular or farce face depart are no periods to get your system back. So essentially, you will use different seeds at different parts of your cycle to help. You see has this particular benefit to it in different parts of your cycle. So for example in the full killer face, which is the day. One. The start of your period until AVI Latian, you can eat a tablespoon of freshly ground, flax seeds and pumpkin seeds daily then from. Ovulation day fifteen to whenever you menstruate that could be day twenty eight thirty two whatever then you do a tablespoon of raw sunflower seeds and sesame seeds daily. So this is really helpful. If you have peace yo s if you have fibrous anything like that it just naturally allows your hormones to self-regulate. Wow. That is so brilliant. Okay. I'm going to apply this in a girl as the m Rosewall she asked about that, so Emma, I hope that answers your question. She also wrote that were to favorite podcasts. Thank you at home. And yet for people who want to know where it is. It's the page thirty five of the book eat feel fresh. They could find it there in the shockers section, and then this is kind of a similar question, but just to piggyback off of this whole, Lena as could you maybe talk about the con- contraceptive hill, whether it has a positive or negative effect on our type, I'm. I'm not too sure of the right terms here. But I hope you know, what I mean. Sorry, if you have already spoken about this. I will be releasing anyway. Okay. So no, we didn't speak about contraceptive pill. Yeah. So I was on birth control for like two years, and I was on the lowest estrogen wine, I thought it was fine. The doctor told me to get on gynecologist and my periods to get like more like scanty scanty scanty, and then eventually it stopped. And they were like, oh, well, it's fine because when you're on the pill. You're not actually getting a period. So that bleeding that you're getting is not a period when you're on the pill your body thinks it is pregnant. Okay. So those days that you're on the like sugar pills, the pills that don't have the estrogen them, you're actually just having withdrawal pleading because finally your uterus lining can shed. So you're not really getting your period. So if you're not getting your period that means you're not automating. Now, this is so fascinating to me. I'm all I love learning about relationships, and what makes people attracted to one another. And I started to read about this thing. The study they were calling birth control the divorce pill. Have you heard of this recount? Oh, why why? Calling birth control the divorce pill, and that is because when people are on birth. So people would be on birth control. As most think like eighty percent of American woman are on a. Oh, no. I don't know I tear your doctors literally. Because our doctors are a lot of them are paid by these companies to give it to you. And then a lot of them just think it's safer for you to not get pregnant because such fear pregnancy can fall out of the sky hit you on the head. That's not how the body works. So so these women were on birth control. They would meet man that they were attracted to and then they would get married. And then when it was time they want to have a kid they'd get off the pill, and then suddenly they were repulsed by their husbands. And this is not one this thousands upon thousands of women to the point that this is Google the divorce pill. So they were like what is what is happening in these women are like, I don't know..

There is an opportunity because as a librarian, when you are able to look at our vast array of materials and are in the room and have the opportunity to say, you know, women's suffrage. There's opportunity coming up with the anniversary of women's suffrage to have a major exhibit because the library of congress has the papers of Susan b. So duct Carla Hayden, the librarian of congress there a two very quick actually, one quick thought, and then I'll get out of the way on that beyond safe thing. They played at the Rose Bowl the other night. She and her husband Mr. Carter. I live six miles from Rosewall. I could hear it from my house. That's really just So you're say. just say new into a free free. That's right, so. Awesome. That's all. That's all I got to fun facts about the library of congress that other than you never been in there. I have been there virtually and I encourage all of you who may or may not have the opportunity to go there to visit it online, which is also cool. Apparently in August it got a new logo, the redesign the logo, and people are really mad about it. Fast company has a whole thing about how it has a splashy new logo and people are perched, so everyone should go check it out and send us your opinion on that. And then evidently it was somewhat controversial that the latest budget requests, the one made in July included a million and a half dollars four, the new website because one of the critiques library of congress right now is that it's not digitally to snuff who you know, I think any company which they had a million dollars for new website, but considering the task of archiving all of the things that they have to archive and present digitally, that doesn't sound like that much money like relax everyone totally get all worked up about the logo if you have to will so about that logo vote one, both of them, they need a better one. I'm just saying. You know, Google it, it's on there and let us know what you think making responded marketplace, dot org, and also LLC Doug Avs place to go by. There's all kinds of cool stuff there. And actually we will share some stuff. After a break, right? Yes, we totally.

"And it's wildly popular house of highlights which recently surpassed ten million followers on Instagram will offer comprehensive highlights and behind the scenes content and bullet-point number foreign case that wasn't enough Turner's TNT will also televise programming with select content from the event in the weeks following the live competition. So in case you missed some of that wonderful chitter chatter as they walked, you'll be able to see it on TNT. So we've managed to get HBO Turner. Bleacher report TNT all under the same big tent. But let's. Leave that this is about a sporting event somehow, even though it's in Las Vegas and it's being put on by MGM resorts international at shadow creek in Las Vegas on thanksgiving weekend. And this is just one of those boondoggles that if people want to fork up forty dollars to go watch this when when basically the following week or month, they can go see same two guys do it again in an attorney that with other golfers then I guess they'll continue to put together these sort of things. I'm trying to think Mike, haven't they done this once or twice, like in tennis? No, they did it back in the seventies bench. I was I was in the I was inside on this after Jimmy Connors in nineteen seventy four. This is so true nineteen seventy four. He wins Wimbledon. He rolls Ken Rosewall twice. He beats them very badly. He's twenty one years old. He's twenty two years old. He's on top of the world. He's walking at from the stadium at west side tennis club in Forest Hills. They were still playing the open then to the media conference. After his one Bill Reardon, his fight promoter type manager is walking with them and I'm walking with them. Okay, because this is my calm and and and weird says to Jimmy before they get to the tent, somebody's going to ask you what's next now that you've won Wimbledon the open and Jimmy said, how do you know that? And we're just said, trust me kid, and he said, when they ask you what's next, you say, get me labor. Okay. The great rod labor, and that weird had envisioned a winner. Take all of course, Bob admits as you recall, it became winner take most and it spawned various of there were various offshoots of it. Connors, even play Martina Navratilova at one point in a made for TV event. That's Mitch. And Bob, that's where the event, the idea was born. I Mike got a homework assignment for you. Okay. Before we convene again on Monday morning. Okay. I have the perfect candidate for one half of a matchplay. And I'm not being facetious here. A perfect candidate for one half of a match is the coolest man in the world. My favorite golfer me hell on hill, he and with the and I want you to give up an find, suggest an appropriate person for him. Whether it's, you know, a kid, whether it speak, whether it's tiger, whether it's Monte, whether it's a longer and I want, let's get kept going. The idea would be that he menace would have could have his t's and cap could hit from his. He would. He would have a valet caddy that would light his cigar glass of red wine and have read and have the NBA pouring the bottle, the choice of his great Spanish read during the match. And that's what I want. It would be as meaningful to me as what we're going to see on the day after thanksgiving. It is time for our parting shots on the Friday sports reporters, and Mr Ryan will lead off. We were talking about the urban Meyer and kind of what the general topic of college sports to my head. Now, I'm not going to be delicate to be Dave OT of big time. College sports in America is just like being in love with a Hooker. You know it's morally wrong, but you can't help yourself. It's not one thing. It's everything. If it's not colossal academic fraud, Hello there, Chapel Hill. It's dicta to'real coaches. Or it schools Laden with players..

"I'm happy thirty seven per day. Roger Federer at an age where most tennis players, dead and buried Federer's still threaten every major place. He won the AUSSIE open in January and was upset in the quarters and Wimbledon after not dropping a set until that match. It was surely competed. The upcoming US open. Curiously Federer hasn't won that tournament since two thousand eight. We'll got him this, you know, Tony hill didn't kin Rosewall play affectively to like forty years old. I was gonna say, thirty nine to forty. He was. He was to be Connors. He was pretty good. Yeah, happy anniversary Chicago, White Sox. And the state forty two years ago would many critics consider the worst uniform and they'll be his feta's bookie SOX played their first game of their double header against Kansas City in shorts. What's won that game with help a five steals despite their exposed legs, farm set, the record straight White Sox were those shorts twice more and no other major league team is one. You can't wear those, but they were sort of some throwback to the eighteen nineties. Look. I think Bill Vic had to have everything. Do with those? Yes. I mean, you know, having trails this raging, beltway watches Seattle, Felix Hernandez, handcuffs Veltri in the second inning. Last night beltway barely swings the bat. Indeed, it looks like he's holding an umbrella and watches. Fernandez laughs at biltrite and points to the dugout were famous, sit like a true in child in the sixth inning. The same people face each other and belching gets revenge with a home. Run said, we're brutal. Kellyanne, White Sox out, came of Pat. Kelly was cut kill wrong. Yeah, yeah, that's good. We're running out of show, articulate finish the Rams say they're now in the same zip code is Aaron Donald contract negotiations. So you optimistic, they wanna win. They wanna win on. Now they need Aaron, Donald do it. Josh roses, have gotten better every day training camp. Any sites. I really like him. But the question is, when will Sam hit Mr. fits between the numbers, Jalil, Okeafor sign with the pelicans. You think that's a good fit. It's a million signing a great fit to play next to Anthony Davis. If you can do some dirty work, get back into a great signing. Shohei Otani will do a bullpen session on Sunday big deal. It is to me, he hasn't pitched in two months. I think. I think he's the most exciting person in baseball because he goes because he plays both ways. I bought a team plays. He's the best the best out different distinctive. Last one, the Red Sox for their sixth win in a row tonight in Toronto, do you like their chances? They get a lose at some point. So you know, I'll be the bad. Guy. Tonight we'll be better the next time on Tony Kornheiser I'm Mike will. We are all until Monday. Knucklehead. You can get the PTI five guests on the app for apple. So on comedy central, there's a show Detroiters where Mitch Albom is on now..
