Los Angeles tourism and hotels take serious hits from pandemic

"The hotels are doing. Industry called Leisure and Hospitality is a huge economic driver in greater L. A. It employs a lot of folks you probably know And of course, a lot of those jobs have gone away. Some of those jobs may never come back after this pandemic. The Times reports that one in four hotels Struggling to pay their mortgage and is at risk of foreclosure. Adam Burke is president and CEO of the tourism and Convention. Bored and Heather Roseman is executive director of the Hotel Association of Los Angeles. Welcome to you above Thanks so much, Steve. It's great to be on. Good morning, Heather. I want to start with you. First of all, how many hotels Does the greater Los Angeles area have The greater Los Angeles area has a combination of hotels, motels and bed and breakfasts somewhere in the neighborhood of about 1200. Do they all have to close those hotels? When everything Shut down. I'm thinking back in Middlemarch. When Ella did the stay at home orders or did some hotels managed to stay open because business was still happening, right? The hotel industry was deemed an essential business. At the beginning of the pandemic. We were working to service a couple of government projects, starting with the state of California, looking for rooms to have passengers that were disembarking from cruise ships quarantine for 14 days. From there. We started working with the L. A county to find rooms for covert isolation as well as what then evolved into Project Room Key. So that's something that we're going to talk about in a few moments here on this program, are you starting to see some of those hotels reopen again? Our people venturing out arm or tourists coming back to L. A. I mean, what kind of numbers are you seeing there? During the outside of the pandemic. Hotels did suspend operations in many cases, not knowing exactly whether or not they were allowed to be open. As of last week. We still have 38 hotels that are are closed and we're not sure if those are going to be a temporary or permanent closure, but during the pandemic 157 hotels Did shut down. Initially We are starting to see some of that leisure travel returned to the market. But as we see the occupancy rates rise, we have to consider that the hotels are still operating at a very limited crew. As thie bookings are still only about 50% maximum. Adam occupancy rate, obviously is an important number. You just heard Heather's say, 50%. What's what's the occupancy rate typically in Allah? Well, First of all, I like to reiterate what Heather said. Which is, you know, this has really been devastating for our industry with a lot of your listeners may not realize Steve is prior to the pandemic. Our leisure and hospitality sector was actually the third largest employer in Los Angeles County, representing about one out of every 8.5 jobs across the county. So While we've seen job loss of about one out of every three jobs in leisure and hospitality that's been even more dramatic for the hotel's prior to the pandemic, though, to your question we were seeing average occupancy is in the city about 83% and, you know, Fortunately, we started to see some gradual recovery. But that had declined to his low is about 20% with a lot of hotels, actually sitting in the single digits Right now we're seeing occupancies that are in the 40% range, and it really to your point is being fueled by locals. It's really Angelino starting to safely and responsibly. Get out and take staycations right here in their own backyard. I want to. I want to talk about that, because one of the things that you guys have been doing I know is pushing more Angelenos. To go out and stay in local hotels. If you're able to how do you suppose did I mean it? Is there a conflict with you guys? When you say Well, we want you to go stay at a hotel. But there is this pandemic still happening. Yeah, it's a great question. So the first of all, I will say we've actually been working with the Los Angeles Department of County Health to develop safety protocols for all the various sectors of our industry. So that we can make sure that we are protecting our guests were protecting our employees. Equally important, So the idea of pushing people to get out in about probably, I would say it a little bit differently, Which is what we've done is We've put together a program called Love, which is really by Angelinos for Angelenos. So we've put together over 100 special offers, including not just hotels, but our local attractions in restaurants so that for people who are comfortable getting out and about it's more affordable and easier to dio. And you know when people ask, what can I do? We know, for example, that if those who have the means had just three visits to a local attraction or museum, supported three of our local restaurants and had just won three night stay. In an area hotel that would actually help us recover over 21,000 jobs in L, a county and what it would inject about $1.4 billion back into our local business community. Heather, How

"He was sitting right there in the draft that thon draft room with all of us just as jalen hurts selected. Nears this poor kid in his second year like you know. Everyone's just heaping abuse on him about. What's going on with your quarterback you know and he he handled it like a pro because we were just having fun. A lot of it was tongue in. Cheek. Is You know he was great man. He's that kids stud him. I know he and he did so well last year. So but that said did you did you call Carson. I mean understand again that you you still picked up the phone and gave them a heads up that. Hey we're about to take Jalen. Did that happen with you? Know I spoke to him earlier that day and you know really the day before and throughout the off season just kind of telling him what was going on and I told him that depending on how the board went that it was a possibility and and Carson's unbelievable team guy I mean he he wants what's best for the team. Now listen I understand you know I. I'm sure everyone sitting there and want what's best for the moment but that's not really our job. Our job is to protect the organization. Protect the team for the long term. And and when you look at at that position I in all of sports man. It's gotta be the most important position in all sports and Dion Sanders in the draft. A Thon live rumors just having fun saying how come. They're the only position on the field. That can't have competition. You like I I I. I'm a corner but I'm not allowed to be upset if somebody's going to being drafted my position as a matter of fact. I'm I'm supposed to compete with this person and on top of that. I'm supposed to tutor the youngster. But the quarterbacks not supposed to I mean like that well there's no competition Carson Wentz Quarterback I WANNA be clear with that. You know it's about having strongroom. It's about making sure that all of us Are are having guys on our team who can come in and play. I mean you know you look at it last year and you can see it when we look about kind of I short period of time. You know You know we had an opportunity and Too much respect for Josh mccown as a player in person. But obviously you know we're in a playoff game with our backup quarterback and he looked the saints this past year and they go five and bridgewater and the chiefs have homes go down and had to get through three games and went to one and got home field advantage so you know and how important that is so i. It's just us you know. What would you pay for that if you had to do it? And and you know someone told me this guy who is incredibly successful on Wall Street. And he said you know when you hedge you pay for that and everyone doesn't want to pay for expensive insurance until you need it higher roseman executive. Vp and general manager of the Eagles. Here with me for a few more minutes on the rich Eisen show so much made of the virtual draft Howie And now it's done and it. It seemed to go without a hitch. Did were there. Fewer trades in your estimation or or less activity because of it this year. Do you think I would've said that After Thursday night Maybe would have even said that after Friday night but man Saturday picked up into gear and I felt like it was rolling like nothing else and the reality of it is like we're talking to these jams on their phone anyway. There's no difference so I didn't think that that was a big part of it and and you know it's special. Yeah I know what you got a big family. I got a big family and I've never been able to share. You Know I. I've never even watched an eagles game with my kids. If you can believe that you know I don't sit them during games. I watch the games with them owners road and so to be able to experience this with them it was special special is experienced that none of us will ever forget. I know a lot of a lot of Evaluators are saying that so in that in that. The format was also more enjoyable. I guess for people to watch because there seemed to be more of a flow Would you WANNA do it again? Then what do you think if the League wants to be there? No I know needs to be the poster boy for giving my opinion on what we're doing that okay. I mean I guess it does. There is a an because again i. I enjoy doing what I did and then I was able to put my kids to sleep. Like my commute was the stairs. You know what I'm saying. Like my commute was the stairs to and Again you know I. It was fun. it was fun to be able to kind of walk out in between picks and it was also. I think it was for my kids to be able to see how that worked for us and to see how we're kind of juggling everything and to Kind of appreciate why. Dad's not home a lot. I I think that this whole kind of process about how we're working through it. It's given us all perspective on kind of balance work home life balance and you know maybe maybe facetime maybe guarding guarding your desk. Which we all do to some levels you know. I don't WANNA go You know I got all these people in here and at the same time though I. I miss the people in our building. I miss the people that we work every day too. So it's a balance. So is there any truth to the rumor that You drafted Shawn Bradley in the sixth round. Because your kids just saw Space Jam no jet gather that that that they saw space jam and they just thought you should draft Shawn Bradley. And that's why you did it. Is that a true story. Okay True Star okay very good. I like it different spelling but I guess it just having another Shawn Bradley back in Philadelphia. That makes sense even though he's already they handle and now my my kids for some reason you know. I I They the Manute Bol. You know my little boys. I I got a year old and a six year old. And they're like obsessed with like look Aminu Bowls 'cause Bobole like I said once them I said you gotta see that and now they they watch like how like the Manute Bol and amazing thing man. It really is Hey how he thinks the time really appreciate it. Travel safe everyone and look forward to keeping in touch right back at you that's Howie Roseman. Vp and GM The Philadelphia Eagles. Here on the rich Eisen show. I'll just there's a lot to unpack from this and also.

'n Andy of another major focus supposed people is on the first and second rounds of this draft but you guys have four of your a picks in a forty forty three pick span there right now between one. Oh three and one forty. Six in the third. And fourth rounds. However you approach stats strategically Is it a good place to have multiple picks this year and and and at what positions Andy? Those regret we. We have picks in in those eight. Pixar aid opportunities. We look at We're excited third. Round Fourth Round second round fifth round. We feel there's players on every level the draft in we stack the board such so. We're excited Each pick in each opportunity that we're going to have Mike and then we'll go to a firm. Howie given the insurgents regarding next year's football season draft class. How will you way? Next year's draft picks central trades and potential deals down the road no different than a draft. You know we always valued the present and future. That's our responsibility to make sure that we're competing. Not only this year but going forward especially in we talk about quarterback was twenty seven years old so I think it all depends on the opportunity all ends on the value saw a couple years ago picking thirty two and we will drop down and get a future around so we'll weigh all those opportunities as they come for us. From Brady to Carr, ranking Bears' quarterback options in NFL free agency, draft

"Free agency. Starting soon as we mentioned earlier in the show March eighteenth four. Pm teams can actually out signings the signings and the wide receiver classes fascinating Jj. Because I think mostly because it sort of matches up with the draft class. This is a loaded wide receiver draft class studs and studs and studs. Nobody that's like necessary. I I like I tend to think see lamb and Jerry. Judy can be. I don't want to call them like Julio Jones. Aj Green types. Because that I think does a disservice to really any young player coming to the League to to compare them too borderline hall. Julio definitely the hall of fame. Aj Borderline Hall of fame to compare them to that type of player. But there's a great group of guys who look like they can be viable starters in the NFL out of the gate however they will have to compete with teams who resigned teams will have to decide. Do they want to ask somebody like that or do they want to size like? Aj Green should he make free agency? let's go through your top five wide receivers. Who's at number five number? Five number five. I have Randall COBB. Yes sorry I remember number five. I Have Randall. Cobb. Randall COBB. Of course coming off that season with the cowboys really difficult to see how they're going to be able to pay him And so as I was going through this and I thought to myself well thought. Where could he ended up? In fact I didn't think that's about self depot. Ask me where he could end up. I would have to tell you on your and some wanted to tell you that. I'm looking at an Indianapolis Colts a team. That was really struggling to throw the ball down the field last year. Now lot of that adds do of course which cover said. I understand that but I've never really been impressed with the wide receiving group that the colts have of course. They thought that they were going to have a few more options That did not work out with Devon punches. Who dealt with injury for most of the season. So Randall COBB. He's GONNA turn thirty before next season. He's at nine. Nfl seasons he had a eight hundred plus yards last year. I like him. What the colts and whoever their quarterback could be yes so it's interesting the question is would you rather have a guy like rental car bounced back nicely. Who Fits with the perfect slot style of of the modern? Nfl You've got three wide receiver sets etc etc. You can win outside and in some cases might be too old that now he's going to be thirty before the season starts or would you rather dabble in the shod. Perrin and sweepstakes and I might be inclined to agree with you. I like the PERSAD. Payment freaks me out like what? You're really like this Guy Ozzie. Newsome couldn't get this guy right and you're telling me that now like Jameis. Winston fixed him. I don't know if I'm buying it entirely woods. I would run away from shop Perriman. eighty might be fantastic human being but in terms of on the field play. I think that it was a flash in the pan how he sort of came on there in November and December for the bucks Certainly James with the five thousand passing yards sort of inflated his six hundred forty five receiving yards Paran- I just had issues for most of his career and I'm not willing to take a few weeks from last season. He's turned the corner. I kind of tend to agree with you. I wouldn't be opposed to like a one year not too pricey deal with precise payment but I would not want to make some big splash on that guy Given what's out there. It is interesting to this class offers. A lot of slot options like Geronimo. Alison is their Nelson Aguilar. Philip door set You can uh Devin funchess. Maybe didn't make the cut for. Jj surprise there. He's more of a tight end. Not a slot guy But then also demarcus Robinson who was very effective in Kansas City system. I think there's a lot of speed slack is out there so if I were if I were General Manager would probably at the top of the market. Do their own thing. Because I don't want to overpay for top of the market I would then sign a slack. If I got a young quarterback here I would sign a guy for agency at a lower cost and then go out and get by number one in theory in the in the draft. So that's probably why those guys didn't make the top five and I would tend to agree with you. Who's your number four on this list number four Robbie Anderson Levin love and coming off that season with the New York jets My best fit for him is the New York jets Because Gosh they really if they lose him. I don't know what they're gonNA do at the receiver position. They absolutely have to upgrade even by keeping him. They need to upgrade to upgrade that offensive line as well but seven hundred seventy nine receiving yards last season. He'll be twenty seven this upcoming year if enough teams and and if the jets WANNA mess around with this Joe. Douglas wants to mess around with us. He has been In conversations with with Robbie Anderson's representation if some teens get involved here and this is taken care of at the very started illegal tampering window or before. The price could go up on Robbie Anderson because of his age because of his speed because of what he did last season and then you can start approaching. Fourteen fifteen million dollars per year. I think the jets absolutely have to knock this out early and if they mess this up in some way if they decide not to bring him back. I'm looking at a place that he could go to looking at the Philadelphia Eagles who obviously could always use a upgrade. Their I the interesting seeing there may be some overlap there but the eagles need help it wide receiver. But I hope probably Anderson's faculty jets. I kinda liked that idea and I do think. There's a little bit of like say the Shaw Jackson to his game. That's an insult to the Sean Jackson as fast as to Sean Jackson Robbie interesting could be more of a position. He's he's more of a like he's a bigger body type of guy but who also possesses that deep speed. That might be complementary for the other pieces that eagles have so. I don't hate that idea. If I don't know how Roseman takes a deep dive a free. Hd but he's got cast a bird so maybe it happens a May I ask your number three is and then I started to say Emmanuel Sanders is your third wideout. He is my third wide out. And it's really just because age. He's GONNA turn thirty three. Where do I have him? The obviously he's not going to be in San Francisco. I initially till depot the Carolina Panthers and I said the Carolina Panthers because I'm not entirely sure the panthers are convinced. Honesty Smith is not convinced that they have a number one wide receiver they have DJ more. They have Curtis Sam. You hope that. Dj More is going to be that but what they seem to be lacking. Is that fantastic veteran presence in there and after I spent a lot of time will in the month of January with the San Francisco. Forty niners covering their postseason games. What I learned from a depot Samuel from kindred born was just how much manual sanders mentor. Those guys those young group of players coming up and how they were able to really improve their game early in their career after the trade for manual. Sanderson San Francisco did so I look at a team like the Carolina Panthers and I say. Oh those young guys could really benefit from a guy like Emmanuel Sanders however Emmanuel Sanders is kind of like Andrei Dala in in that like he elite should and probably only wants to play for a championship. Contender right. He's been with. The broncos just went to another super bowl and so we're talking about contenders we're talking about teams that need wide receivers. The New England Patriots is. They are trying to retain Tom Brady. That would be fantastic. Get sound radio. Robert Kraft and Bill Belichick said. Hey We got you Emmanuel Sanders and we got you this two or three year contract to finally finish your career in New England. What you say Tommy. Now that's great call. I think if you're the Patriots and this was the delicate line that they have to sort of walk with Tom Brady is. Can you go out into the mark like once we get to that noon at noon? It it's eleven fifty. Nine fifty nine on Monday can the Patriots manage in the span of about Let's see twelve thirty six hours. Thirty brought to us as a forty eight hours. Fifty two hours is probably right in fifty two hours. Can they manage to tamper their way into landing? Somebody like Mandal Sanders. Somebody like Hunter Henry and successfully like a- convinced Tom Brady to return if that's what they ultimately want their plan to be and if it is. I think that could be you know like. That's that's certainly a blueprint to having Tom. Brady back in New England. But I think you're going to have to get guys. Just beef up the receiving core for him if you want him to come back in my opinion all right the last two guys in this list that they're going to be the same for everybody. You could flip them if you want to Depending on your opinion of home and away splits for one guy in age for the other guy number two guy. Aj greed number. One Guy. Maury Cooper I beast I mean these are the first of all. There's a chance either. Guide makes it the free agency or Cooper could get transitioned franchise tag the transition tag depending on the CBA depending on what happens attack. Prescott's contract AJ Green. It does sound like the bengals franchise tag him but he throws a fit and says he's going to refuse to play for him then. Maybe that doesn't happen. What led you to stack these guys in this particular way. Jj Yes so I have AJ green at number two. Only because of agent injury concerns that He has missed something. Like twenty four the past twenty five games that the bengals have played due to injury So that is my issue with him. Amari Cooper last. We saw him was not getting the ball thrown as much his way as should have certainly against the Philadelphia Eagles. I felt that he still has it. Obviously he's young much younger than Aj. Green who I believe is turning thirty two this year. Amari Cooper is currently twenty five. He will be twenty six before the start of the season so If a Jake Reed were healthy he would be my number one with a bullet. No doubt about it on about his health and then So in terms of fits right We believe that. Aj agrees with the bengals eight. We'll extend the franchise tag if they do not then. I think that we can reignite the does job want to go to Cincinnati rumors and so just for the sake of argument. I through the raiders in there as a landing spot for A. J. Green. But of course I'm not putting too much effort into A. J. Green out to one of the thirty one other teams. He's going to Cincinnati. As far as Mark Cooper. I had no idea how the San Francisco Forty niners would do it in terms of contract and money but I have cooper going to the forty niners if he does not end up with the cowboys but again. They're the cowboys to do. Everything they can. To Keep Amari Cooper traded a first round pick for. It made a lot of sense. Not Not immediately when they made the trade form right.

"You know and <Speech_Male> and with whoever <Speech_Male> picks them <Speech_Male> in drafts them. <Speech_Male> So something <Speech_Male> <hes> position. We'll take <Speech_Male> a look at it <SpeakerChange> as <Speech_Male> As we do each year <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> backup quarterbacks <Speech_Music_Male> horsens at the <Speech_Music_Male> point now healthwise <Speech_Music_Male> experience wise <Speech_Music_Male> that you could maybe go <Speech_Music_Male> with a younger <Speech_Music_Male> actually at <SpeakerChange> that position. <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> I think <Speech_Male> you could. I think I think <Speech_Male> you gotta be careful. <Speech_Male> It's gotTa be the right guy <Speech_Male> you know. Obviously it's gotTa <Speech_Male> be a guy that that <Speech_Male> You know you feel comfortable. <Speech_Male> Maybe maybe playing <Speech_Male> a game or two <Speech_Male> you <Speech_Male> know but at the same <Speech_Male> time you <Speech_Male> know what we've done with that <Speech_Male> position as we brought <Speech_Male> some veteran guys the past <Speech_Male> couple of seasons <Speech_Male> that have got us through <Speech_Male> and and <Speech_Male> You know we're GONNA WE'RE <Speech_Male> GONNA take a look that we always <Speech_Male> do. I mean that's obviously something <Speech_Male> that <Speech_Male> is important <Speech_Male> to me having been <Speech_Male> backup quarterback in the <Speech_Male> importance of that. So <Speech_Male> you know. We'll evaluate that this <Speech_Male> this offseason <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> quarterbacks <Speech_Music_Male> in the NFL. Either as <Speech_Music_Male> backups. Or starters <Speech_Music_Male> as it. Why <Speech_Music_Male> do you think that is played <Speech_Music_Male> pretty good ones Scott Mitchell <Speech_Music_Male> years ago? Like <Speech_Music_Male> what what? Why is it <Speech_Music_Male> so hard to make <SpeakerChange> it as lefty? <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> I don't know <Speech_Male> good <Speech_Male> question. It's really good <Speech_Male> question whether they're <Speech_Male> they're playing baseball other <Speech_Male> sports <hes> <Speech_Male> but <Speech_Male> <hes> yeah <Speech_Male> Unique Stat. <Silence> in the NFL. <Silence> <Speech_Male> I'm not sure <Speech_Male> why honestly <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> now now <Speech_Male> left handed right hand <Speech_Male> does matter. Can they complete <Speech_Male> passes or not? I mean <Speech_Male> that's bottom line <Speech_Male> out doesn't matter to me <Speech_Male> if you're right or lifted <Speech_Male> ambidextrous <Speech_Male> guys to <SpeakerChange> if they can throw <Speech_Male> both great are <Speech_Male> you. I made aware of Scoundrel <Speech_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> <SpeakerChange> I <Speech_Male> we. I mean to wear risque <Speech_Male> so <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> listen to this. Whole <Speech_Male> whole searches is <Speech_Male> a funny business. <Speech_Male> When you start <Speech_Male> talking to other coaches <Speech_Male> and <Speech_Male> whether their head <Speech_Male> coaches in this league <Speech_Male> in you're asking about <Speech_Male> certain <Speech_Male> Certain coaches and <Speech_Male> then start talking <Speech_Male> about guys <Speech_Male> his that and the <Speech_Male> other certain names <Speech_Male> come up and his name <Speech_Male> name came up and so <Speech_Male> I did a little more little <Speech_Male> more of a deep dive <Speech_Male> with him and <Speech_Male> and really felt like he was a <Speech_Male> guy that of interest <Speech_Male> for me and and <Speech_Male> <hes> <Speech_Male> Love the fact <Speech_Male> that he has old <Speech_Male> west coast routes <Speech_Male> So <Speech_Male> he and I it <Speech_Male> off right away from the <Speech_Male> standpoint of you know <Speech_Male> offensive play <Speech_Male> design <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> and <Speech_Male> really felt comfortable <Speech_Male> with you <Speech_Male> know having them in our building. <Speech_Music_Male>

He's as <Speech_Male> I mentioned he. He's going <Speech_Male> to be. He's <Speech_Male> going to be to bridge <Speech_Male> the gap he's GonNa <Speech_Male> be able to bring together the <Speech_Male> Ron Division in the passing <Speech_Male> division right and <Speech_Male> bring that together with <Speech_Male> a blend of <Speech_Male> of of <Speech_Male> new formations and <Speech_Male> plays and things that <Speech_Male> kind <Speech_Male> of tie everything together <Speech_Male> right <Speech_Male> And <Speech_Male> and so. That's that's going to be <Speech_Male> a key component. <Speech_Male> Obviously game plan. <Speech_Male> He's going to have his hands all <Speech_Male> over the game plan as well <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> A lot of a lot of communication <Speech_Male> lot. <Speech_Male> Lot of film study <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> yeah. He'll work <Speech_Male> with quarterbacks <Speech_Male> just like like I <Speech_Male> am in that room so you'll have <Speech_Male> a chance to do that <Speech_Male> as well and have some input <Speech_Male> there and <Speech_Male> and <Speech_Male> you know. Just assist with <Speech_Male> us on offense. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> I think I said <Speech_Male> the same thing about Darren sproles <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> Kinda coach. <Speech_Music_Male> Jr Straight lines <Speech_Music_Male> gang and <SpeakerChange> inquiry <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> corey. Wow <Speech_Male> hard hard <Speech_Male> to you know. Obviously lose <Speech_Male> in tough to lose <Speech_Male> a guy like corey. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> They're getting <Speech_Male> the guy that he's <Speech_Male> going to be his <Speech_Male> players are going to be well prepared <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> He gets the most out of his players <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> players. Play hard <Speech_Male> for them and <Speech_Male> You know <Speech_Male> I'm excited <Speech_Male> for for for him. <Speech_Male> And being in this role <Speech_Male> with Detroit <Speech_Male> and with coach Patricia <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> exciting <Speech_Male> to see where his career goes <Speech_Music_Male> now. <Speech_Male> Production <Speech_Male> from the wide receiver. So <Speech_Male> what needs to <Speech_Music_Male> happen? Get <SpeakerChange> more production. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Maybe injuries <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> healthy. That's accession <Speech_Male> that <Speech_Male> every <Speech_Male> you know I was asked <Speech_Male> the other day about speed <Speech_Male> and all this other kind of <Speech_Male> stuff I mean. I think everybody <Speech_Male> here in this. <Speech_Male> This week is is <Speech_Male> looking for for speed <Speech_Male> and the next <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> the next diamond in the <Speech_Male> rough and <Speech_Male> and and as we go <Speech_Male> through our evaluation <Speech_Male> process. We're GONNA WE'RE GONNA <Speech_Male> find in pick the <Speech_Male> best the best players <Speech_Male> we can to help <Speech_Male> the Philadelphia Eagles. <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> And that's how we get better <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> talk about the relationship <Speech_Music_Male> between Carson. <Speech_Music_Male> Lanson Sean Jeffrey. <Speech_Music_Male> You're in the building. <Speech_Music_Male> Every day you see him interact <Speech_Music_Male> view <Speech_Music_Male> that as a problem <Speech_Music_Male> for some of these people are. <Speech_Music_Male> Donald can come <Speech_Music_Male> back next <SpeakerChange> year. <Speech_Male> Yeah <Speech_Male> I I don't <Speech_Male> I don't see that <Speech_Male> I think <Speech_Male> one of the things that <Speech_Male> were Carson really <Speech_Male> took a big step was in <Speech_Male> that leadership approach <Speech_Male> this past year <Speech_Male> getting <Speech_Male> everybody on the same page <Speech_Male> and <Speech_Male> onboard <Speech_Male> and and <Speech_Male> you know it's <Speech_Male> just unfortunate because <Speech_Male> we had <Speech_Male> a lot of high expectations <Speech_Male> as an offense going <Speech_Male> into the season and then when <Speech_Male> pieces started <Speech_Male> to drop out <Speech_Male> it's just <Speech_Male> unfortunate that way <Speech_Male> But <Speech_Male> there were there. Were no issues <Speech_Male> between those two. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> I <Speech_Male> think it's you <Speech_Male> know again. I I think it's <Speech_Male> a talented group. I think <Speech_Male> there's some guys here that <Speech_Male> Obviously <Speech_Male> can can <Speech_Male> can make an impact <Speech_Male> with you know and <Speech_Male> and with whoever <Speech_Male> picks them <Speech_Male> in drafts them. <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> I think <Speech_Male>

"Evaluation Process. That you consider giving up play call. No no not yet not yet. That's the part that keeps me. Attach support keeps me. You know it mile motivation right is is to be around the players to stand up in front of the room and install the plays during the week and and and be connected to the team. Offensively that way with all the other things I have to do so Play calling never never brought up. Did you find it hard to bring in a potential Caesar Offensive Systems? If they didn't get the call place I mean that's always something. I think a candidate who who wants to be an offensive coordinator. If they're going to a place where the head coach is calling plays or somebody else's Colin Place. Yeah that's that's difficult. That's difficult than and so some of the candidates. I spoke with and and even even brought into the building You know that was that was brought up and and I. I told him a front that you know. This is a position where you know. I'm still GONNA call the plays. I'm not going to give that up and they have to be comfortable with that and You know I listen to. I have hard time to I was interviewing for coordinator's job having called plays previously had be tough to tough to give up. Rich has the background in the SHANAHAN system. You guys have west coast and spread guys with different backgrounds. What's your vision for? How kind of how this is going to work together. Why do you want guys with such different backgrounds? Yeah I mean it's it's again are our approach has been very collaborative. Approach has been very very direct in in in from the standpoint of you know you hire position coaches for reasons not just to coach position but also to have input on on game plans and so having Ridge now being in and being around you know Kyle and his You know his offenses whether be in Atlanta in San Francisco and being around quarterbacks you know Matt Ryan and Obviously Garoppolo at Nick mullins in San Fran these guys He brings a and then having coordinator experience in Denver last year. Just For me very intriguing to to be able to bring in a guy that You know is is going to help Carson number one. It's going to our offense is going to. He's going to be a guy not not solely his responsibility but allowing us to take our our offense maybe to a to a different two different level as something that We weren't We weren't as good at last year in the last couple of seasons and those are all things that that you know. I have to take a look at your right through the evaluation process so I'm excited to work with rich and air guys. You know as we get ready for for. Ot's.

"I think number one now. My office coordinator doesn't have to talk to you guys. That's that's going to be. That's going to be V. Right and I mean the thing is listen I for the last four years I have had an office coordinator and by position and by title and and yet when it comes to Game Game Day decisions game calls. I'm the one that's calling the place so the office coordinator doesn't do that. And so I. I thought long and hard about this and it's why I took my time this off season. You know with these decisions with rich putting him in a in a in a senior offensive position and in promoting press to a pass game coordinator. I I really feel like that. That in order for us to grow. I've got to give him more as a coach. I got put more on his plate. I want him in a quarterback's Rome I still want him to be around. Carson in the guys and he's done outstanding job there but at the same time I want him to have more of a of you know his fingerprints on game plants and then rich comes in. He helps bridge the gap with with coached outline as the run game coordinator in now press and bringing all those pieces together along with myself and having such a collaborative game plan approach allows us to really have more I think a better sense of of our game plan that we're going into each each game risk so I just made that decision and obviously with it ultimately is. It comes down to me on Game Day with Colin Place Evaluation Process. That you consider giving up play call. No no not yet not yet. That's the part that keeps me. Attach support keeps me..

"And and we're looking to add value and talent at every position. Not just running back but We've done this last couple years and we're GONNA continue with this process. Really been really honest over the last few years he kind of. Use it for your by your thing. Have you talked to him expecting evacuated applying next year? You know I saw at the end of the year when we had our exit physicals and had a chance to sit down with him. And you know I think Kelsey is in a really good place With every player especially veteran players. I want them to take time. You know be be with their families. Get Away from the game. You know refresh recharge and we'll we'll cross those bridges but obviously we love to have you grow in one day later after you had said that maybe you had me to change what changed in that one day. I'm going to go back to. Wip interview that. I had about a week later. And you didn't well for those who did. Thank you You know that decision. Obviously I I was not clear. In what what I said in the communication level there and and I was still in my valuation process of my entire staff at the time and and so it was just You know A situation where I just misspoke and You know apologized to that was fired. You know there's Times where Of course the season of the year Thinks just Things just don't work out you know and and You know I'm constantly evaluating everybody in in my coaches. Know this coming into this into this business into this Our Organization and I have to make tough decisions. We have to do it with the players. We have to do with coaching staff. And and so. It's just made that Jeffries. There was not there was not. You know it's it's this is one of the things that I appreciate about Jeffrey. How is they give me A total control over the staff. Are they interested and do they? Do they talk to me about certain guys? WanNa talk to candidates. Sure they do I think it's it just behooves them to have all the information you know with guys that I bring into the building so they give me that that control to make these decisions and You know I gotta make the tough ones but at the same time felt like made some really good hires than spring sears. "Had off season. You made significant changes to medical and training staff is a reflection of all the injuries that you guys have adored over the last three seasons. I think the first part about it when we talk about some of the people left Sharon decided not to renew her contract. She's got family on the West Coast. And she decided to move back to the West Coast and appreciate her work and wish her well Sean Holes contract expired as well. We had a unique opportunity. I think that We have the need and we got two guys and Tom and Ted. That very excited about that. We think are going to be huge additions to our football team and we gotTA look at anything. We can to get better. You know We owe it to our players to our coaches or organization to our fans to find ways to get better. I'm feel like we're very fortunate to get those guys in charge of their respective departments. Yes that's a great question you know everyone. In performance and strength will report to Ted and everyone in the training rules reports atop of invention. Dr D-notice we was going to evaluate during the season. Your whole training and Rehab Process. Can you tell us anything about that? Evaluation what he found it needed to change. Yeah we wanted to step away from it. That's why we're GONNA make changes right away or add anyone right away and kind of get a fresh lines because obviously when the season ends. You're disappointed that the season ended and We've had a lot of injuries last couple of years. There's no doubt about it and I take responsibility to for the things that I can do. Better there But I think when we looked at it and saw the opportunity some people leaving in the opportunity to get people that we think are going to be really outstanding for our football team without a no-brainer.

Jalen Ramsey Active, Will Start for Jaguars vs. Titans After Requesting Trade

"Moving onto jalen Ramsey he wants out of Jacksonville unfortunately for him he will be playing against the dines tonight for Jacksonville in Jacksonville the Jags all pro cornerback has requested a trade but we'll be active again with the trade seemingly coming sometime after the game so C. C. which contender should try to acquire Jalen Ramsey. I don't mean I it doesn't have to be a contender tender for me right now. We only played two games. Everyone's a contender the giants I think we make a quarterback's which we right back into this but I think there are certain places that would be better perform. I think the raiders Jon Gruden got the CAP space. They got a really young teen. They could use the corner play. They could also use a star going to Las Vegas the Tennessee Titans. I do believe coach coons. He was a legendary highschool coach coach at Ohio State. He only coastal hieaux until last year we took the job in Tennessee variable who has experienced at Ohio state went there and got him. He is a great defensive back coach in his hometown there with the Titan the raiders are the titans feel are the smoothest transitions for him for a guy that has that type of skill set big corner wants to play a lot of man to man and as we said before he's from Tennessee and wants to go back there and anytime if you can get a big time star like that in a smaller market like Tennessee yeah I think that they should look into that particularly when he's listed the titans previously before the season as a place he'd like to play sometimes you worry big-time star. Would he be happy going to a small market the size of the market in Jacksonville's not why he's unhappy and because of his roots in Tennessee he has already said Nashville would be a place. He wants to thirty proven that he can get national attention no no matter no matter what I mean he's he's one of the star players in the league and one of the faces of the League that we have on the defensive side of the ball one team you mentioned yesterday for I give a couple of others that that I thought really interesting was Philly Philly. Obviously is a contender philly that is the place where they need. I would argue help the most on the back end of their defense particularly the corners because is I liked now. Come Jenkins. I understand we're talking about phillies injuries those they deal with spate of season ending injuries for Philadelphia with how active Howie Roseman has been and how great he's been at almost manipulating the cap to free up space when they need it you would mention philly yesterday that to me is a really interesting fit. It would be something that if you're the Dallas cowboys and you see wait eagles got who the Eagles got jalen Ramsey at the not even at the deadline a month into the season that could be a game changer. I'M GONNA mention a team no one's attaching them to but I think they have the space the picks they have the need. What about the Los Angeles Angeles chargers now maybe they don't WanNa pay Jalen Ramsey they all they're going to have to pay Joey Bosa two guys but they have the cap space to do it? They they are right now. They know that last year they were this close to being the number one seed in the AFC Derwin James is going to come back at some point at the end of the season they already have an extraordinary corner in Casey Hayward but they're starting a guy who was an undrafted free agent couple years ago at the other corner spot if you added few had Casey Hayward Jalen Ramsey Ramsey winter when James comes back that immediately becomes far and away the best secondary in the NFL well for one next year to pay Joey Bosa Casey's already already making a bunch of money Derwin James you already know you're going to have to pay him now. Both of those guys being from Florida state sometime. You think that oh well. Maybe that would work well. Maybe that might Mike not work so I don't know they haven't been the most contract friendly to their player. Philip rivers doesn't have a contract so to me. That's a lot of money that a team that is not customary to pay a lot of money. I don't think they would have that kind of money tied up in their secondary. Just two more teams quickly obviously yesterday. We talked a lot about the chiefs. It's for the cheap since the best player available at the biggest position of need but I do think the chiefs would have real cap issues with that Patrick mahomes going to become the highest paid player forever a year from now. They paid tyreek Hill. They went they paid frank. Clark may be above market. Sammy Watkins they can get off him next year. If they want to play really well race you're adding the highest paid corner in. NFL history was what Jalen is going to become would be tough to keep an eye on the colts though called I mean the colts have enormous cap space the draft capital. They're obviously going to try to win without being a super explosive offense the culture. If I'm Chris Ballard with Andy I am calling Jacksonville and bill and trying to take their temperature on that but he plays his last game tonight for the Jaguars most likely absolutely that would be my guess about eight players to borough road

"roseman" Discussed on The Rich Eisen Show

"Just, you know, you're the perfect person to ask this. He's an executive vice president of the eagles Howie Roseman here on the rich Eisen show. I don't know if you saw a, I guess, a colleague of yours in the NBA in Bob Myers last night, the general manager of the Golden State Warriors getting very emotional at the microphone after Kevin Durant. Injured himself again in a game. And a lot of people are wondering some why he was playing. Can you walk me through the process of a front office? And putting a player on the field that significant clearly for the franchise Carson would be perfect example who is hurt banged up and the concept of putting him into the fray in that regarding how I you know, Bobby as a friend, and, you know someone yet. Yeah, obviously you're in that situation we were in that situation. We were in that situation couple years ago, we were down in LA and Carson got hurt. And, you know, I think the one thing it does, is it gives your your leadership your team the character of your team and opportunity to do something special and really kind of to it in that in that person's name really? And they have a great opportunity, and they've such great character and leadership on that team from the front office. Coaching staff on down. Then I know though. Rebound in wish them the best of luck as they go forward. But, you know, I think a lot of times, people don't understand this process, which I get and, and really controlled by doctors, and, and your medical staff and not only that, but you have so many outside consultants when you're talking about superstar players, and really all your players that nobody's just getting one opinion on any of these injuries. Nobody's just taken. For example, the team's opinion or the players, doctor's opinion, you're getting all those opinions together, and it's a collaboration of information, and you're not doing anything especially when you talk about, you know, a player who's about to free agency, and I can't speak to individually that situation. But they're, they're doing everything in a way that is totally transparent for the player for the team and only making that decision. Like I saw his interview this morning, when I it's nobody's fault, things happen. You know it's the nature of the game. And so. I think that sometimes there's this perspective that, you know, the team is making the call only but you, you have so many people involved in these decisions on all sides, and all of these things are about board. So what did you think of when you saw him? Good emotional. You know, I it just took me back to where we were in, in LA that time. But also really throughout the course of my time here when you have players that you care about, and they're like, your kids, they're like fingers on your hands. I mean, eight it's hard to see guys you care about suffering, and not being able to perform and, you know, I know I, I think about I was thinking about the fact that when we were in Minnesota preparing for the Super Bowl, and we had this group of guys and it was Carson Jason Peters, and Chris Maragos, and it was Darren sproles, and it was Jordan Hicks. And those, those guys those guys just working out. And while the team was preparing to play in the Super Bowl and just feeling for them, you know and knowing that they work all these hours. They do all this stuff. They train just to have this opportunity. It's hard. It's hard. You know, this is why you do all that executive EP Howie Roseman. You're on the richeisenshow couple more minutes left. With with him. So let's just re- return if you don't mind to the, the concept of signing a quarterback for as much money as you did. This is the system now. Right. How I mean like you draft somebody, you get a couple of years of a window in their first contract to try and win with them. You did. In fact, although it was as you point out, Nick foles, who who's the one who, who went through that legendary run in the playoffs. But this seems to be the, the system right now in the NFL that at some point, you're going to have to pay somebody who in the case of.

Nick Foles will become a free agent, after Eagles decide not to use franchise tag on him

"Who tweeted that that would be from the official Twitter account of the Philadelphia Eagles, the two minute and fifteen second video was meant for the one and only Nick foles the major lead them to their only Super Bowl championship in franchise history, which happened two seasons ago today the eagles made the decision they would not place the franchise tag on quarterback. Nick foles. He will become a free agent their general manager how we Roseman speaking at the NFL combine also to NFL LA. No, I think that's a lot of discussion with Nick and his Representative and for us. We always want to do what's not only best for our football team. But also makes a lot of sense for the players and after talking about this with Nick heated serves an opportunity to lead his own team. We've been incredibly fortunate in Philadelphia dive two top fifteen NFL quarterbacks. And we knew at some point Dow probably wasn't sustainable that. They both deserve the right to have their own team. And so this is just part of that process and for us to get out in front of it and allow him and his Representative to kind of continue to move on. You talk about that process. And there was an interesting process because there's a lot that led up to the point today where you said that you're not going to tag Nick foles earlier in the off season after the Super Bowl you guys picked up the option. So clearly there had to be some thought given to putting the franchise tag on him. He then bought back his freedom for two million dollars. Why pick up the option if you're going to release him today or first of all you talked about it? We had to do that. In a limited amount of time. There were time constraint. That went on with that decision. And again, it goes back to this is the most important position in all sports. You know, it's a franchise quarterback. And. That's hard. When you think about it in a vacuum. How

76ers' Markelle Fultz Injury Diagnosed as Neurogenic Thoracic Outlet Syndrome

"While back had this last year when Jared I cough who basically missed the entire season came back at the end for the Phillies couldn't pitch and kept having numbness in his fingers. This was one of the first things that was brought up and thought so what's bizarre to me. Is that Marco Faltas seemed you could probably just you probably need to hold room of people to count on their fingers. How many doctors he seen over the last year or so how did this go until now without anyone realizing it's a very bizarre situation. I'm not going to sit here and tell you this ally, and he doesn't have this because. Doctors diagnosed doctors diagnosing it. It's just doesn't pass the the makes sense test. If that makes any sense there's just a lot going on here. Ten doctors to find this. Why couldn't they why did they have all the shots that he took a shot over the summer? I think there is a chance here folks that we are dealing with an athlete that does have something going on. But also has the it feels like we're Foltz comes up. It's like a it's this or it's about well, the Rasic outlets singers, a weird thing where you you don't even really know what you have and you kind of feel numbness. Sometimes you don't feel right. At least that's the way pitchers describe it as they're going through the process that kind of is what faults has been saying like, I feel good. Sometimes those times, they don't it comes and goes that that does go along with this syndrome. But I also think because he's been sore Radic. He is psych them out himself from being able to do things even if he physically can he might have the NBA injured. We might have the double whammy here. With Markelle Fultz eight eight seven to nine ninety four ninety four apparently is heading to Los Angeles to continue as rehab. So he's not going to be around the team. Let's talk to Mike in West, Chester. What's up Mike there? He goes, Mike and western what's up Mike Johanns in good body? What's going on? I just wanna say it's awesome news on. James's family. That's great. It's it's awesome. Yet. Do hey, I gotta say this Joe. L of all the positives of accolades before Carson Wentz negative the interception was unacceptable. Couples Roseman especially on the sleeper. Who was he throwing it to and the one on the one he had Allstone Jeffrey wide open the end zone. And what I was at the gauge, oh, I'm tired. I mean, I love the Jesuits. But it's always you need to change. I'm glad he went to chase. All Sean deserves to get the ball more, and they need targeted more. Am I wrong? Well, I look I don't think he's ever really open mic. Now. We know he's a good fifty fifty receiver where he can kind of get the jump on box a guy box. The guy is a big frame receiver. But there's not many spots in the game. I'm like, oh, wow. What a route. He's so fast Alston's wide open. So I mean, I get it hurts is always open. I would go to him too. I'm not. But I'm happy take got involved last night. That was that. That was nice to see. And I think I'll take that. Because. You should be a new all the time. He has been opened. And like I said I was well. Maybe. Also was stand there all over again. So anyway, I'm not going to knock Corsica's I love what he did mobility. I got a question Peterson though and coach Joe, but what the hell took so long to run the ball. Like, a parody does work having you know, I'm not saying don't vote. When did that's that's how the eagles esteem playing? That's excessive not having a run game makes us team a more viable ASTA offense. So you believe well. Yeah. And they had it last year. I mean, they were balanced last your way more balanced last year, then they were you know, Turley and this year, I think makes a difference job. So. Really makes a difference. He's still Darren sproles. It's a matter of how many snaps many times you get the ball in his hand per game. Mike, I appreciate it. Here's the thing. When it comes to the run pass stuff, we overdo it. There's no one that's going to tell you. It's it's not a good thing to have you can run and pass. It makes you more difficult to defend but the reality of the NFL is easy to score points. How you do it becomes largely irrelevant. If you could score thirty five or forty points a game. No one's going to cry and yell if you do it by passing or cry and yell if you do it by running usually passing the most efficient way to get there, especially if you have a great quarterback or one you think is great like the eagles do right now. So I it's Doug Peters is always going to pass more than he runs. Always. That's the philosophy. That's the coach that's the offense. I think the biggest thing early in the season was they weren't running effectively. And now the last couple of games things are changing here. Josh Adams is running the ball actively. And I thought it's Florida the radar today as I've heard everyone talking about the game. I feel like core climate is. Starting to come on here. And and little by little show, you that he's got a little bursts back. I think he's healthy again last couple of games. This is the last two weeks ten Kerry seventy two yards. Five catches seventy eight yards. That's fifteen touches. One hundred fifty yards less games. Every time. They get the ball court Clements. Hands at ten yards per that. He he looks healthy, Tom and many except next. What's up, Tom? Hey, Joe great show. I just wanted to say this really the most encouraging thing that I saw a lot of positives. But the running backs themselves just the rotation of of seeing sprawled out for a limited amount. I'm glad tuck it and try to like throw him in there and a half you kinda take over the game seeing Clement get his burst back. But one thing that I that I noticed about Josh Adams. And and let me preface this by saying, I am in no way comparing these two I'm just saying I noticed something similar. Is that I noticed for some of the runs that he did he had that kind of levian bell ability to wait for the whole open rather than just hit it and hope for the best. There was a couple of times where you see him get to where he needed to be stop, and then continue to go when it opened up the funded the funny part of you're bringing that up Tom Izzo every time. I I watched the game. Usually when I'm especially when I'm watching at home. I'll just have my phone out kinda I opened up the notes app, and I just kinda type things out as I'm watching almost like is if I would tweet it, but it's just for me. And last night, Tom. I'm looking as I printed it out before the show tonight just to kind of think back to what I was thinking during the game. I have this note right here. It's like halfway down my sheet, and it says Josh Adams kind like a bigger Levy on bell with the patients. We we saw the same thing last night. He does have that where he just he waits more than the normal back. And I keep I keep thinking, oh, he's gonna get stopped in the backfield. But then he has an ability to kind of get going again. Right. And I think you saw that a lot last night. And I haven't I mean from an eagles running back. I can't remember, you know, maybe shady McCoy. But he was more of like a stat back. But but seeing I just really notice it last night where he would wait for that whole. And then he had the first to go through it and pick up additional yard. So that was really promising to see. And again, I don't think anyone's gonna confused Josh bell right now. But she keeps looking like that that's really promising to see not just the physicality of it. But the smarts of when how to play against the defense. It is. It's a good point, Tom and a good car. I the thing I like about it is I like running back groups that have different kinds of backs and sometimes you can have it. Sometimes you can't you're not gonna complain. If you have to good backs, and they're similar, but the eagles now are starting to have that they have right now you'd say small what is completely out of the rotation. Magus sprawls is back so three backs. They have now you have the big Josh Adams kind of more like the bruiser. But he's got that patients. Like, we were just talking about there that patients like a on bell. Then you have an again, no one's comparing him as an athlete or a talented levian. But just kind of that that style you have Corey Clement who could do a little bit of both you strong, but he's also much more explosive than anyone gives them credit for and then in the screen game last week's has been outrageous. And then you have Darren sproles that we know could do a little bit everything and can block and could get out and in catch passes those kind of trios of running backs. I like that. It's it's not there's no Sar here. But there's a good. Group right now. John del ran is up next on W P. What's up, John? John, you are you ready to talk, buddy? John are you here? John. But John to get himself together. I love in the app, it's eight eight seven

"Of eagles. Big three. Doug Peterson Carson Wentz or higher Roseman who've lost the most faith in this season. Right now in the put up on Twitter at my Twitter account at Jack Fritz WIP sixty nine percent nice are saying Doug Peterson. They've lost the most faith in a guy who literally less than ten months ago one of the Super Bowl. But he's the guy that lost the most favored he's gotten dumb overnight. Apparently Carson Wentz coming with thirteen percent of the vote little high surprises even that high for a guy we deemed our Lord and savior. And only eighteen percent is saying how we Roseman what say you for me. It's howie. I've been disappointed with Howie and this year, I think he has prioritised set the eagles to succeed this season with the moves he may. And I think he prioritized nostalgia. And keeping guys happy more than than focusing on winning focusing on the ultimate goal, which is to win the same trap, the Phillies fell into and I'm worried that Howie is falling into the same trap. Eight eight eight seven to nine ninety four nine four. It's how you join the show. Mike all the way out in Alaska is here. Toxin birds? What's up, Mike? What's up, gentlemen? Nothing much man when he got. Well, I I I have to agree. It's gotta be Howie Roseman. And you look at it to me. It's Carson Wentz has performed extremely well every time that he wasn't injured. And now he comes back. He's been playing pretty good football. Extremely good football. If you look at the numbers, and it's just to me, you can't put all the blame on him. I I definitely think it's more the the play calling. Ben Carson Wentz. His ability to execute the plays. You move to Doug Peterson. Like, you said, this is the guy who cook. Nick foles went through the tape and figured out how to make him a fan of enough to beat Tom Brady in the Super Bowl. I don't think Doug Peterson is a horrible coach. And I don't think this year has changed my opinion on that. If you look at how he Roseman what his heat gun the entire time. He's been the GM been impressive is draft picks. If you look at all of them have been garbage on the whole. And that just has screwed with team for many years. The fact that we don't have young talented players in in premium very positions on this team is because his draft picks have been so bad for so long. If you look at the two thousand seventeen draft class, I mean, who who do you feel good about going forward from that draft class Barnett? Is that is that really it? I mean, you can't Bank on Sidney Jones. You can't on the field. Yup. And last year, I mean, Dallas got it. I think is is a fine pick. But they don't seem to know how to use him Maddox is playing opposition. But playing pretty well other than that. I mean, Josh sweat. Listen how he hasn't drafted. Well, he hasn't. He never drafted. Well, and the one time he absolutely knocked it out of the park with the free agent class. They went on to win the Super Bowl is great. But that's more looking at surface level and not looking what's happening underneath the surface. Yeah. And then you take it like we traded for JJ great Naby injured. And even if he comes back who knows if he's even signed with that. If he does you sign them on a one year proven deal for a little as little money as possible. And then we got Golden State where we gave up a third round pick for an offensive coordinator. Somehow have no idea how to use one of the most versatile wide receivers in the entire league. Mike, isn't it? Great how to integrate him in the offense. It's impossible. No one can do it. Isn't it crazy how in one game Amari Cooper, puts up over one hundred yards than golden Tate has in his two games as an eagle? Yeah. It's it's absolutely ridiculous. And I think my main frustration with how he is. I believe out of the three people Howie Roseman had the most to say on how to replace the offensive coordinator. And that was clearly a big swing a myth. Yeah. What's things about that? And thanks for the call is that the the offense coordinator situation got so screwed up because of Josh mcdaniels like I can't I can't totally blame Howie for the offense coordinator problems because Josh mcdaniels was all signed sealed delivered to go. The Indianapolis Colts already all good to go with with them knowing that that Johnny Boz taking the Vikings job. Everyone thought that Frank rank was coming back and then boom, Josh mcdaniels drops out of the colts or out of the culture job. And they're scrambling for a pick or scrambling for a head coach, unfortunately Ross Tucker are very unwrap sucker tweets, Jim. Say and says, hey, Jim, you should check out this Frank right guy in say checks it out and hires Frank Reich. So you can blame you can blame. Frank reich. Not being here on raw sucker. It's all Ross Tucker spot. That's not totally true. But Jim Frank Reich was was going to be officer coordinator this year. And then Josh mcdaniels drops out of the cult shop and the eagles are left having to go with micro. Who again doesn't have any experience being an offense coordinator is experiencing an offensive coordinator. And Doug is a head coach who relies on his coordinators to bring him the plays and the and the first script into game plan with them since he has to do so much else, and Mike grows totally dropped the ball. And for him to come out and say in a press conference on Tuesday that he doesn't know how to integrate golden Tate who has been one of the five most productive receivers in the last five years in the NFL. It's an indictment on him as a total embarrassment. So I can't blame how. For the offense coordinator situation that was more unlucky than anything. But the rest of it bad drafts big money for guys who won't be here. Long term big up front money, or they actually they push back a lot of money. So that when you have to pay Carson Wentz be big money in in big players without no depth. And when you look at the team this year last year, I'd say they got more lucky with injuries than they have this year. Now, they have no death and we're heading into an off season where they're gonna pay Carson Wentz over one hundred million dollars. And he asked the hit on the twenty nine thousand draft how he has a crush the twenty nine thousand draft or the eagles are in major major trouble. It's gonna Reggie and Delaware. Reggie what you got man. Hey, I think people over thinking this team right now. What do you mean? So what do you think is the most important thing for your football team? Player while quarterback. I was saying now if you get a quarterback with a special the most important thing is the line. Okay. That's fair you ever heard that term presser bus pipes. Yeah. Well, they haven't been getting pressure this year. Yeah. So what if you don't have a line you quarterbacks? I go play. Well 'cause Aaron Rodgers. Oh, no. He doesn't have a line right now. Look at this thing. Whose whose job is it to to build the offense defense of lines? Right. Which is going for receiver. He's a whenever the one after some good backed up. So try to give up so low pixel pitch for. So you think you think going after golden tape ended up being mistake? Yeah. Especially if he leaves. She probably will. I mean, Nelson Adler is back with his fifth year option. I don't know what they can do unless they want to pay more money to go and Tate and then the other Carson Wentz contract. You're already paying out Sean already paying it's like, I don't I don't know how they afford. Yeah. 'cause you're not gonna get the bottle of time. And then when he does have time if the defense is playing a good he's going to try and force passes. Let's go force turnovers. Yeah. I mean, you you make a good point on the offensive and defensive lines and thanks for the call. Reggie the office of defensive lines have been a problem the office of line. I mean, I know they're banged up which which thinks I mean lane Johnson's banged up. Jason Peters is banged up. Jason Chelsea's banged up. Brandon Brooks continues to be the most underrated eagle and the the defensive line like they're not getting the same kind of pressure. They were last year. Chris long hasn't been in place since week. One was not totally his fault. They don't have the same kind of of rotation depth. Look at the saints. Look at the Rams look at the look at the chiefs. All major offensive lines and heading into the eagles had a good offensive line. But now, I'm worried about the future of this offensive line. You Jason Peters thirty thirty-six and wasn't he might be back next year, which is kind of terrifying. 'cause I don't know. I don't know how much that guy has less than the tank, but he's best friends with Jeff Larry. So I guess you just got to bring them back. You have Jason Kelsey us thirty one and he's been getting banged up. You have lane Johnson's and banged up. And he's been he's twenty eight now feel Johnson should be like twenty six but he's twenty eight now and there's not really suitable replacements behind him. How he's gonna find a way to make that line better next year. Listen because Carson Wentz he is your franchise now and Reggie made a good point with Aaron Rodgers Rogers. They haven't been able to get a good offensive line about around him. Ever since they've paid them are ever since he's been the highest paid player in the team. And I don't want to see the same fate or Carson Wentz. When you look at the Ran's you look at the saints the cheese they have their young quarterback. And they've done a good job. Protecting him last year. The eagles did a great job protecting Nick foles. And Carson Wentz has been the case this year. Let's go to Rick in Lancaster. What's up Rick? How's it going, man? Good show. I'm doing great. Despite all that. We'll tell you something. I'm a snag when a lose. I'm not one of these vote, whatever glad to hear it agree with everything you said, you know, but let me tell me a little rate. These two point is what I feel now I used to call hallway the magic I'll be after he has. Backdraft with all that we want the Super Bowl, right? Well, I think everybody heart played into this. Why even had hoped for? On TV up all that stuff. Right. That you are. Right. That was the judge. Got to think about the future that dwell on the past. But that's. Who who the coaches can't nobody make a miracle? Our somebody second third string backup in the secondary. And someone else. Blah. And overnight battle game shape. The second day of some of Austin, look three games ago. Even though like I bow full-fat take training before trying to cap. Yeah. It's hard to blame shorts. Off the supply of the bathtub probably too. You gotta look far as a Johnson a third. He's going to be good. But he got to watch those vendors.
