"We got another major. This week the pga championship set for kia weiland on the ocean. Course rory mcilroy and twenty twelve won the won the title. They're an eight stroke victory and guess. Which player is back in form. The aforementioned rory mcilroy but what. I want to talk about here. James is the fact that we've now got range finders. Being allowed for the first time that'll be at this week's pga championship. I don't think i like that. But we'll we'll let you have i go out of. What do you think well on the surface. It looks like they should have done a long time. Everyone's been been popping off about that. Let them use rain. Want to pick up the the speed of play golf and baseball. Have the number one thing that they're that they're trying to do. All the time is is speed up. Play right that and curling with along with the long games. So that's their number one thing. All the time is just to make sure that what we're putting in doesn't slow play down and but more what we can do to speed up the game because it looks it loses audience right when when it's so slow and it loses tv and all sorts of stuff so people kept saying we'll let them use range finders right and the rank amateurs like me and you and many others go absolutely. That's a great idea. And then when. I read the piece i went. Of course. it's not gonna make a difference of course will make no difference at all if if you've ever seen a golf which you have and you see both of them have a book. The cat has the book. The player has the book. And you go here. We go again flipping out the books. you know. And and the what they're checking for is these books have a sh- each green is diagrammed on on a page in this book. Okay and what it shows you. You'd see a bunch of sweeping arrows all over there which shows break okay. Put they know the pin positions are going to be. They have little arrows from every direction. Saying okay it's gonna break left right there blah blah blah knowing that but it has distanced from the the front of the green to where the pin is twenty five back from the front and fourteen in from the left. Okay and for pros. There's a bunch of other yardages that they ask for. All the time steve that you and i would never give a shit about the always want to know how far it is to the front edge of the green they. There's other things they wanna know how far it is to carry over a bunker. You know what's the what's the what's the distance or to carry that trap all all sorts of stuff and and that's a good point and carries a bunch of you know big players bryson to boys see webb simpson. Weighed in on this thing roy. Mcelroy's caddy the all said. It won't make any difference at all unless you snap..

"Back. Final hour and toys. Great to 'em this show final hour. I should say with michael collins who will be front and center this week at the second major of the year at kiawah michael. It's been too long. I'm we we. We might as well start with every other every guest we'd had added. Forget golf asking you about whether you think tim tebow is going to make the jacksonville jaguars. Good afternoon on. Though good to hear your voice man and that is a that is hilarious. Decide that way too. I mean i saw him not too long ago At a golf tournament. So it's funny like a guy. I'm not gonna lie like this dude. He brings more heat with stuff that he does. Especially now that this jacksonville talking about it like that could regardless if he makes the team or not which. I don't think he's gonna make the but just think about the the fact that we're talking about the fact that people are talking about jacksonville both good and bad. It's like there's no such thing as bad press. I wasn't who said barnum and bailey do came. Ripley's believe it he said there's no such thing as bad press and that's if even if that's what this move was because for some reason table is so polarizing you know and you're talking to a dude that lives in gainesville florida and so like if i do the local gainesville radio show and like make a little people joke man like people come pitchforks and burning stakes. They get better you. It's crazy the emotions that one dude gets out of people who when you just sit and talk to him you kinda like even then you're even more i mean you you. You sat together with people like he's talked to the guy you like. How could i say why people get so crazy about this like. He's just a down to earth guy decades. It's not right like you wanna be a quarterback and then he wanted to try playing baseball and now he thinks he can just be tight end and stuff like that like you know in the long run how it all work out like. Why did everybody still say they go crazy. And then five years from now. Hey remember when we got all crazy about 'em tibo v incited. Yeah i was having a bad week. Can you imagine michael You know if. Tim tebow the to play professional golf. I mean what what you're going to hear in the locker room every week. It will be craig actually no no throughout the complete golf world. People would just be like good luck with that. You know like when jerry rice tried to turn pro right can then and well. You don't say like so in the gulf. Were the only people that will go. Crazy would be people from the any. Sec golfer they would be the only one that would lose their mind and everybody else would be like. Okay good luck man. You'll be can't in a week and a half that that might make news. If tim tebow decide. I want to be a professional academy. Then it would be like whoa wait Based on what you did you've done. I mean look what it did for you. Being a pga tour catty. I mean you're the face of golf on. Espn but you know for teaboy. You've gone the other way. Oh do fallen from terrible now. He's caddying on the pga tour. Poor guy made some bad investments. Some okay so michael. Let's turn the page to key. And you tell me. I know who's one at their in the past. I know who's hot. But the michael collins Indicators says what so the michael kalos indicator even though i am the type of person that will say look what someone did nine years ago has no bearing whatsoever on today and even the golf courses complete not completely it is different than what it was the last time that we were here and the weather's gonna be completely different as well. All of that being said rory mcilroy comes into this week off a great win in charlotte and this is the second major of the year where he does not have demons unlike the first major at a year where he's got a lot of demons so you add all those things up and then take into account well. Dj's not playing that great brooks kept. The still doesn't look good. He's to miss dinner and his niece still not a hundred percent. We don't think so you add all of those things up and you go It's kinda hard to bet against rory right now. It's just hard to bet against roy. Because he just he seems to be in such a good place on the golf course. And i've talked to him today. The i've taught me him and his caddie harry Just had a great conversation. We are talking about the vaccine you know and traveling and stuff so he's in such a good mind space and it's game is in a great spot. The only guy honestly that i think that pop in like the shocker to some people would be a guy named charles schwartz all really and if the name rings a bell because he won the master's back in the day and this dude i sat and talked with him at the arnold palmer and he was talking about how he was playing. Really good golfer. Just the score wasn't there and so he just wasn't making a lot of putts but that being said i kept telling him patience. I know it's hard for golfer but if you're patient the putts are going to start falling and wouldn't you know. He teamed up with louis hazen. They went into a playoff that they lost in new orleans and last week. Coming down the stretch. He had a chance to win as well even though he didn't win he finished in second place in this dude. He's playing so good for so long. Now that the potters all and he's a guy nobody's talking about. That could really sneak in there and make people go Never saw him coming. Michael before you go and ask you about a guy who is not there but Everyone still thinks about it. And i you know all these guys so this there may be a very easy. Answer this question but you know since tiger woods is crash i mean. We've seen a picture of him. We we've read a couple of tweets but we haven't really seen anything else what's going on you know what it's all about recovery and that the hardest part when it comes. The tiger is time because we are not used to being told. You're going to have to wait and with tiger. That's what this is all about..

The Masters: Justin Rose digs deep to regain lead

"Justin rose shoots an even par seventy two to maintain the lead here at augusta national. He's followed on the leaderboard by will Taurus and brian harman one shot back of the leader at six under par other. Notables on the leaderboard include jordan. Spieth at five under tony fee now in justin thomas are both at four under some superstars. Missed the cut friday including westwood rory mcilroy and defending masters champion dustin johnson. We'll discuss each of those players day coming up here on the podcast with. Nbc's jimmy roberts. The voice of masters digital justin rose was the thirty six hole leader once before here at the masters in two thousand four. The seventeen year gap of thirty six hole leads for him is the longest gap in masters history. But certainly rose hopes to finish a bit differently. This time around in two thousand four. He finished the master's tournament tied for twenty second and one other interesting nugget of information. There have only been five wire to wire masters champions ever jordan. Speak in two thousand fifteen. Raymond floyd in nineteen seventy six. Jack nicklaus in nineteen seventy-two arnold palmer in nineteen sixty and craig wood in nineteen forty one following his second round. Seventy two justin rose spoke with the media. Here's what he had to say thing. The thing is i was just joking. The fingers kind of heading towards the panic buying a little bit But did i talk myself on on eight. And said you know you still leading the masters and i just change my mindset a little bit and started to play matchplay against the golf course scratcher line on my scorecard and told myself as three down and could i go ahead and beat the golf course from that point on so i had a part in eighteen to win my match. One up unfortunately slip.

"Coming in Is. Will Rory McIlroy exercise those demons once and for all, Get that green jacket and finish off the career slam and for six years running, the answer has been no. But at least Rory wasted no time getting us there this week because my man was d O A with an opening round 75. Thanks for coming. See you next year roars. Or so we thought. Check this, dude. There is Rory with an extremely respectable T five finish. I didn't know any better. You think this guy been in contention or something? Of course, he wasn't. It's just that when the pressure was off of him 18 holes into a 72 whole tournament Mom Mad actually started to play like the four time major winner that he is like the fourth best stick in the world that he is. Hard to believe, considering what Dustin Johnson just did. But consider this. Rory actually played the final 54 holes off the master's better than DJ. So the next time you hear somebody say that you cannot lose Ah golf tournament on the first day, point them at Rory. He actually did lose the golf tournament on the first day. Not the calendar year will be closed. With no more majors. Rory's drought is about to hit seven years which, for player of his caliber is pretty insane. I mean, I'm not saying it's easy to win a major But in that same period of time, Brooks is 14 of them. You're on speed this 13, and he's got no idea where the hell he is, and hasn't had any idea for a long time. Now. DJ just got a second. Even the cat at age 42 got one. Rory's had six chances to join Jack Tig Hogan. Gary Player, Jean Sarah's in As the on Lee golfers ever to complete the career slam, and he'll get 1/7 opportunity in April when they run the master's back again. At this point, I'll tell you what. I'm gonna take D. J and Brooks to get the slam before Rory. And they're each only halfway there. That's still bet on both of them, Not one of them, both of them. And before we put a bow on the master's completely let me tip my hat. And give a phony smile. And a big thumbs up to the great Phil Mickelson. Go back to last month, where the 50 year old rolled out to Hiss Second Senior PGA Tour event, and then he rolled up the field for his second senior PGA Tour win. He was what he had to say about that afterwards, and I quote It's fun for me to come out here and play well, and this is a good start for me is I try to build a little moment, um, heading into Augusta next month, end quote. That quote sounds almost exactly like what he said after he won the first. Old fat guys event. Because he said that it would help him in his preparation for the U. S. Open it win foot Now, if shooting 13 over par and missing the cut is helping him prepare then yes, that helped him get ready for the open a lot. So let's see if anything else changed prior to Augusta. Let's see. Let's see a beating up on a bunch of senior citizens actually does help him in the majors. Didn't work out for us Open, but maybe maybe the Masters would be different. Let's take a look. Nope. Phil Mickelson tied for 55th four spots above D F L And making history by matching his worst ever 18 hole, score the Masters with a third round 79. And this is what I called out back in August when 50 First said that he was using the Champions Tour to prep for majors. I called Bs right then, and I was right. In fact, I was right both times. Look, I'm not gonna sit here and laugh the guy's face. But that doesn't mean that elk won't Look, I already did back on last week's pod when I asked Steve Elkington. If there's any possibility that you can get major ready out on the senior circuit, not of chance. Might. He's out there just smashing it out on the champions, too. He's playing against guys like Doug back. Bernard Langer, who's an animal. He's 60 something years old him break pepperoni baby last week. He's like Jesus Christ! So I can't get enough of Phil. This is better than the Kardashians. This guy coming back. Tell me he's getting ready for the masses By plan, you know, Champions Tour. Has amazing cut. They like to fully appreciate that cut. You have to hear that back. There's elk. Alvin with a J C blast. He can barely even articulate the thought without cracking up. And he said that Pat Perez thinks it's hilarious and that it's even better than the Kardashians. Not chance, right. He's out there, just smashing it out on the champions, too. He's playing against guys like Doug back. Bernard Langer, who's an animal. He's 60 something years old him breath paparazzi. They move last week. He's like Jesus Christ! So I can't get enough of Phil. This is better than the Kardashians. This guy coming back. Tell me he's getting ready for the masses. By plan, you know, Champions Tour. So, like all your apologies, and all of you who are part of the hefty nation they're eating out of the palm of his hand. You could just hear what l said, like his peers. Had Perez like thinks it's the funniest thing ever like. I can't get enough of hefty telling people I'm getting ready for majors by playing on the Champions Tour like the guys who actually do it. Guys were actually in a think is the funniest thing ever like. It's such a joke. Hefty. I know this is impossible for you, but just once meant just be real for once. Just shoot it straight for once and just say it. No, these old man events on these shorter, easier tracks are not getting you ready for anything that matters. You say it. It's easy. It's easy, easy money. Anyone who says they can't. I mean, this is what he should say. Here's why I'm out here because it's easy. It's easy money and anybody who says that they can't wait to get to 50 to start mugging a bunch of old dudes and ripping their wallets are lying out there, Ass. That's why I'm out there. Easy, bleeping money. If you were to say that I cannot tell you how much I would respect it. If you would just say it. I know you never will, even if you know it's true, and that is the reason you're out there. Because it's helping me get ready for the U. S open because it's helping me get ready for the Masters. Come on, man. Just say it. Just say it easy, bleeping money. I couldn't wait for my 50th birthday. Lost, £50 turned 50 started cashing giant believing checks. Man. I would respect that so much. Why do you think I'm out here, man? I'm going up against 65 year olds. Easy, bleeping money. Still to come on Yucca Okan Woo NBA draft prospect that's coming up at 11 40 my time to 40 eastern time. Saturday at the 2020 Masters

"Saturday at the masters in dustin. Johnson is running away. He carries a four shot lead into the final round sunday. Following a seven under sixty five saturday he was masterful tying jordan speiss fifty four hole record chasing johnson on the leaderboard are sung j. M abraham answer and cameron smith all four shots back while justin thomas and dylan 'fratelli sit five shots back following his round saturday. I called up with dustin johnson. Seven hundred sixty five news. Dustin johnson to sixteen under through three rounds. What did you do well saturday. And what if anything would you like to do. Better sunday I did everything while today. Adrover very nicely head. A bunch of fairways Hit a lot of greens and felt like i. I gave myself good chances on your on almost every hole. and so. that's kind of what you gotta do here. In the conditions. Not a lot of wind you know. Courses is fairly soft so you can be aggressive and Strike in a very nicely today And so you know tomorrow. We'll have to go out and do a lot of the same if i to win. Tied jordan speeds fifty four hole record. What's the balance between staying aggressive and not being dumb Well for me. It all depends on you know. Flag positions numbers Forgot a good number. And and i like the flag is a play aggressive but Like i said the course right now is is very receptive so you know i know the guys behind me are going to be trying to chase down south. You know you can't play you know there's a there's definitely a fine line of being too conservative and too aggressive but you just have to pick and choose my spots second last year. How did that impact your motivation. This time around. I mean yeah it was. I've played well last year. I played while the last couple years so obviously this one tournament that that i definitely want to win and you know. It means a lot to me. A- grew up so close to here and so it is something that i really look forward to until tomorrow is going to be a. It's gonna be a lot of funding. I'm gonna try to enjoy myself as much as i can and Hopefully hopefully outcomes good tomorrow afternoon. You heard dustin johnson say right there how badly he wants to win the masters. It's the dream of every player in the field in this eighty. Four th edition for more analysis on the third round and what to expect sunday. Let's bring in the voice of masters digital jimmy roberts. Dustin carries a four shot lead into sunday following a seven hundred sixty five saturday. He was masterful. Tying jordan speiss fifty four hole record assess his performance on saturday. A great it was basically as good as you could get You know you said it. He tied the fifty four hole scoring record. It is a different time of year. But i don't think it really matters. I mean the thing that sticks out to me is that you know through fifty four holes. He's got two bogeys which is unimaginable. On this golf course and they were in consecutive holes. Fourteen and fifteen in the second round. And when you stop to think about it he bogeyed the second easiest hole on the course which means that by all rights. He should probably expect to birdie the fifteen th hole. You give him two more strokes and he's just farther ahead of the pack. But i will just say this. I was here in nineteen ninety six and i covered that masters where greg norman had six stroke lead and nick faldo came back to win it so i mean this course can do things to you i mean. I think that there were extenuating circumstances that year. Norman had some physical difficulties. That didn't manifest until the final day and faldo played effortlessly. I think he shot sixty seven It's gonna take that for somebody to beat him tomorrow Somebody's going to have to play really really well. And he's going to have to stumble. What is it about this golf. Course that suits his game so well. Well i mean at this point really. He's the number one player in the world and he's as they like to say in europe he's on form so you know. He's a finely tuned engine right now and He's not even close to the red line. So i mean he is just got it all going on right now. I mean he's you know. I always say that you know. These are the best golfers in the world on on a week to week basis. You know you shouldn't be surprised if somebody you've never heard of comes up and wins a tournament because they are all remarkably talented. But he's the best of all of them right now and he is playing really well You know we've talked about this over the last couple of days. He you know he's long and straight which is tough to beat and then a couple of years ago. He decided that in order to get better you had to work on his wedge game so he went and did that he's become a terrific putter and he's completely unflappable. He i think. And i think that's the most important thing i think he's a guy who just does not get undone by much. I just asked him a few moments ago. what's the balance between maintaining the aggression. That got you here without going too far. Yeah i'd i'd be curious to know what he said but in all honesty. I've never seen him loses. Temper made him. I've never seen him hot. I've never seen him running hot. I'd seen him disappointed disappointed. And you're not going to be able to see this on the podcasts. But you know it's just kind of an shucks wish i hadn't tripled that whole crazy when i do. Something you know like that He's really he's a talented man. Who's in stride right now and You know he's done a lot He's one everything but tons of majors. I mean he's tiger tiger woods. He's one in to start his career. He's won thirteen consecutive seasons to start his career. Only tiger woods is done that and he tied him tiger actually one in his first fourteen seasons. But i mean he just consistently wins you know and it's hard to beat talent you know and worth work ethic when you match those two things together. It's very difficult. Let's look at the leaderboard. That is chasing dustin johnson song j. m. abraham answer cameron smith all four shots back. Justin thomas and dylan for tally. Five shots back if you were going to pick one to catch him. I don't think there's any question. The person who watches is Is justin thomas. But the way sunday m is playing and things are different now than they used to be. You know it's been forty one years since a first timer has one here that was fuzzy zeller nineteen seventy-nine. You know i was with the jack nicklaus this morning doing something and He talks. Jack came here and he didn't win for the first five times that he played here. But this is a course more than any other course were experiences necessary. But look you've got answer and in two players who were here for the first time in their you know right nipping at his heels Sebastian munoz too. So i i do think that must not be worth as much as it has been in the past given the level of talent and work of these guys but you know you give me a guy who has the experience and a guy who doesn't of equal talent and at the same spot in their game. I'm gonna take the guy with experience at this place every single time. Rory mcilroy and brooks koepka. Both superstars both at eight. Under after three rounds. How plausible is it that they might contend on sunday. I think it's entirely plausible. I mean i think that you know mcelroy's trending in the right direction after that seventy five in the first round which was disastrous for him. Just can't seem to get out of his own way sometimes but he's got a game. That's ideally suited for this place. He hits it high far and straight. His natural shot is right to left You know he's been number one in the world he's not undone by these big situations. Generally i think he's going to be a very interesting guy to watch tomorrow. But in all honesty there's so much daylight between dustin johnson and the rest of the field at this point and it's not the daylight of four strokes. It's the daylight of four strokes with the number one player on the one side of that daylight. Who's playing well. And i mean. I think it's gonna take dustin johnson shooting seventy two or three tomorrow. I mean i suppose it could happen. You know greg. Norman shot seventy six. Nick faldo shot sixty seven That lead had evaporated by the tenth. Tentpole the eleventh hole So you never know. But i would be. I would be shocked. But i remember being augusta national in in One thousand nine hundred ninety six and remember all the stories that we were doing. And i did a story for. Espn that night. And i said you know it would be shocking if greg norman didn't win but if he doesn't it will be one of the biggest stories and we won't soon forget it and here. We are all these years later. Talking about it at augusta national right now.

"No, you kind of. The local support was still so strong for him I'm just so proud of everyone involved in this tournament and bringing it the Northern Ireland. I, I wish the ending for me would have been written a little bit differently, but. It's been an awesome experience and I can't wait to come back here in a few years and planning another open I mean that was that was amazing to watch and I think that's really when I got the full sense of the community support, and and I you know like you said that pressure wasn't necessarily coming from outside of really just coming from within everyone was there supporting him and rooting him on and. He was the one that was applying that pressure doing self. It seems like that's right. Yeah, I'm in a difficult on that I. Tell You the first day for them. You know just. Think that the whole thing just had him on the t, the noise and the people around him, but you know it did. It did make good charge in the second day. It was just A. "I can't remember his. You had a vicious outburst brutal. Yeah Oh my God to tie the lead need Williamson was his last name. Yeah he was a Super Nice Guy de God. Forbid that happened once for US I thank God in previous prevent that one hundred percents goes right in the one hundred percents on us so then we get to eighteen Hof Goes I put one in the harbor in the harbor so now I thought I made a great swing Attitu- I looked up and I'm like that's manages all right sal back it up so you got one shot lead in in the championship and your partners in the harbor offense what are you. What are you thinking? You're not well I think at this point going into it. I went to so zone then and I mean I was. I didn't even know I had a partner at the time. Once he went out. I was like there's no partner here out of focus on yourself. Yeah so I kind of just focused in on. I didn't look laughter right. I was looking at the ball and at the car and ready to go so I stepped up and I made almost like a terrible swing. Felt like it coming down down at it but when it hit the face and went on the air I was like. That's perfect so let's walk this down. That's walk this back. Yeah Yeah it was. It was not so because they postpone out there and I remember I remember hearing God. That's that's deepened. I'm like all right here. We go. You Ain't GonNa get me on this one so I had to step up. I just think and in swing as far as you can and don't go right. Don't go harbor so worked on it right. Got It out there. We got to the fairway and and I think what we have one thirty five in the again they switched depend on the Front Yup Front and was in the back right. which is it that back pain was tough earlier earlier? Really not that trump him missed four now until. We're not gonNA talk about that so looking at this. I Seen Day. They hit their second shots in looked like it. Looks pretty good at the pen. And and I like zipped off my little short left in the French and I'm thinking to myself and my God I love this shot one thirty pitching wedge choke down the club and just hit. Don't believe don't well just hit so I hit it and once I hit I knew it was perfect and everyone was screaming. Sits sets a and that thing had some sauce on it serious. That thing played as as perfectly can think of put up behind Penn at least fifty feet in zip the back to for seventy feet Then get into the partner or get into the green. I'm thinking aren't they don't really have easy if they make this. You know I'm not messing but we got to the point. I was like okay I just need to but and like I said we've been in this situation before where I've nine point anything. Yeah this is all me. We were torn before around or I want to hear this when we got the championship around. It's like a big a big event and Ross qualified Thursday Friday. You play two rounds of match. Play Saturday Saturday. matchplay and then Sunday semifinals and championship. She's so we get through everything some crazy rounds and then we get to seventeen. Were down one. We're now we're we're. We're all squared on seventy one seventeen. I made a birdie on seventeen get the eighteen. We both down the middle. We both he hits one on the green like the perfect spot like there's no flat spot on the screen and it's like ten feet straight uphill no movement. I'm in the bunker. I hit one out to the green. And I'm like like in the other guys line where he's putting par Birdie or something like that rock is like pick it up. What am I gotta par? PUTT I mean if I make this it's like you release some stress off you pick it up. I'm like you're not giving this guy a line on anything so I'm not trying to get any advantage and the next thing you know it's John I'm like all right. He missed his Birdie. PUTT on my God. We've got to Iran the same exact. Oh No we had liberty Nash on Eighteenth Green Liberal was the first thing this is nightmares all over again. So no way I ran this by like five feet five feet and now it's coming back. It is a slippery slider fast as this table. And he he's in his pocket. Pick it up and I guess are blessed with Mr Nestor Parliament. Now just to lose the Hong Kong till playoff. We're GONNA play off and we lost the second hole and it starts at this point literate down porn. They make Birdie on to lose the championship. Classic Scott like eight feet or whatever it was you and I'm like holy. I remember this look looking for him I please. I know discounted them like already displeased. Got Two points there. Even I want to make it so bad I just. It doesn't matter if you make the pot and you still win or youtube on you. Know I was like he got. I think I put it by like a foot and a half. He's like take your time. Okay I got it makes me nervous it was privy. I don't think most nervous shot I had was on sixteen to the playoff. 'cause like again that weight was a little while and then like it had me thinking though I take this to take that so that was that was my nervous shot and eighteen eighteen just kind of like I said zone down. I was in in the zone as you could say I walked everything down. I kind of look like a little douchebag but are you kidding me. That's that's that's what you it should dream like. You're walking down. Eighteen you throw that club into the slot and you're walking the ball on the Green as me your cat. He's pulling off your head cover. Yeah that's great. I didn't again. I didn't know about the history so that makes things when I go back and watch it. I'm going to be a little queasy. No no but I mean you you you got to. I will say too. I thought in my head with how much kind of like swagger you had at the time I was like even if Williamson or whatever. The guy's name was right Williamson. No offense them. Sorry for just saying I miss Greg player if he makes Rocco's making I was just like I don't think it really matters. I didn't think he was GonNa make if he does. I still think Rocco make because you had like six feet you've been playing lights out And I think that both groups starting with Birdie on sixteen was like Oh we're going to school and we were talking before about how I didn't want that didn't want but like you'd prefer not have to like twentieth handicaps win the whole thing because then it becomes like we've all seen before like San Bagger member gas that Oh yeah and it's like how come their handicaps to that high. There's no way they shot this or that they're being like Oh. I played a career around. And it's really sketchy instead. You guys are both like one or two handicaps. It's like well. Those are the guys that are supposed to win the tournament. Those are the best players players so that made me feel good. I think fifty percent really helped that a lot. That was perfect totally and anybody who bitches about that. My reaction to it is like if is the number one complaint is like well that that really favors the lower handicaps. And I'm like well you should be rewarded and having advantage of your better at something. I can't play this game. You got to be better totally totally. Anybody can have a chance. said it's fifty percents of urine eighteen anti cab. You WanNA plays a nine. You have a chance. You can totally getting some strokes but if anything it's going to reward the best people who should be rewarded because they're better simply may WANNA be better planet B boys well. Congratulations thank you. You got this trophy right here until well I probably until March I think around March where we're going to start next year's tournament so guises until then and your name will be on forever. Thanks to Alan. Thank God it's corrected. It was wrong I kind of wanted it to go on. I'm telling you I'm looking at it. And I've seen a May do the MIC. That's an aide that's not reich a come on out after all that you guys I imagine it'll be at the phillies stop next year. Yes you have a lifetime exemption into the tournament not into the championship. We'll take it despite your efforts to have a feeling you qualify again next year hoping so but we'll see all right. Anthony Rock appreciate it. Thank you you guys. Thanks for coming in.

"Our group. Texts are buddies. Always like they're like this is why they're not GonNa win it again. Like when they start with a shitty star be like here. We go to blow up the team again. We're fucking ten years away from having a chance. It was always like wait. We won the on. They were playing the Bruins me as a selfish like fan of a team. That has won anything. I wanted the Bruins when because I was just more used to that feeling. I didn't want a team to have that feeling a new team. You know what I mean. Yeah because 'cause they almost they're stealing what's supposed to be you're correct. I was just like Oh the Bruins win all the time I'll just I'll just I'll just experience that again. Yeah that's a familiar feeling. You know what I mean yes I feel same baseball like dude. Everyone keeps saying like Oh the red sox yankees this huge robbery like I. I've lived in a time where the red sox have won multiple championships. Let them have another one. If if it's going to be the Yankees the Yankees lose to another team and the Red Texter. If the red SOx played the mets I. I don't want the mets to win. Because I live with these people I I. I like experience there like I watched them watch their team lose. It's fun to me like same with the Rangers. Get that from an islanders perspective because you wanNA taste the Bruins is familiar and you don't want another team to experience what you want your team to experience but then from a Yankees perspective you've won multiple championships. I would. I would think you would be like Oh cool. Like you know Kansas City one. Yeah that that I am. I said incorrect if it was the meth versa. Red Sox a team that like is that I like to hate. They hate one team. That won Catan team. That my friends. I've never even witnessed like that just being from Long Island and then the true mix more never happen. Keep the red sox like I want that. But in fact they've won but you'd still prefer like your rival Red Sox win over the mets just because you live with these people I love the work I would never meet a red sock fan of my life Because you never know yeah fair enough. You wouldn't have day to day. Interactions with this came into my argument that the day to day livelihood and robbery avary between islanders and Rangers was bigger than the Canadians bruins. The history of the game and at the game and canes and Bruins is the biggest robbery of all time but like when I go to school or work and stuff I am in the mix with fifty percent ranger fans. Fifty percent with my girlfriend is a ranger fan. Her Dad's arrangement. I'm not dealing like people with Canadians. Nations we don't see it the way you see. We like you know. In areas players is bigger for us. I mean it's just incorrect but incorrect. It just depends on where you live personally. Just don't care you live in Jersey grew up in Jersey. Yeah Okay Long. Island's I mean. I don't know what that means chanted pop infra since one thousand nine hundred thirties. You don't remember what it means. Okay so then just now we check the what nineteen forty. What Martine Forty for? Like seven here so you can start the nine unfortunate again. My point being a like on long island where it is. That is New Jersey's Islander Fans New Jersey. That's why you would like you grew up with more flyers. You grew up with fires down levels organization Asian. Well we're not hockey or POD. John is having lost since October. Say this country and like affects the Boston Montreal internationally watching the game one hundred percent I do I like French. There is a deep like right like at least with like islanders right now. We're like American New Yorkers and like there's a certain degree of what's deeply rooted. It was like fucking french-canadian Montreal. People versus like Boston like Americans think there's like a deep-rooted. I agree agree negative connotations to that I agree when the game is happening. The rivalry is more amplified and deeper when it comes to just more historic and booing during the national. I think like on a regular Tuesday when neither team or playing. I'm dealing with Lurch and I'm dealing with people like you know what I mean like final Burger Marina Marina. They haven't heard about from a Montreal Canadian's Fan in seven months. They haven't played them yet. They're not dealing with them. Nothing islanders haven't lost him over eleven. I live with people that try and tear me me down every time we also asked for the back. That's like the Rangers lose it. And that's why I think that's why I think it's bigger on a day-to-day basis we're constantly jabbing off season. Everything Islanders unders were making bets. You know what I mean like. I just don't think Boston France interact with haves fans as much I. Just don't you're seeing some of the bar every night single. See somebody rooting for the Rangers goal. You chirp yeah I get back to when we went to that bar just four drinks. We were in the middle of a rangers bar. That was my hell like like a red sock fan. You were in a night ranger. A bruins fan doesn't show up up to a bar in Boston and just go to a fucking Canadians bar. That's just doesn't exist. There's rangers bars in my town. It's crazy you know what I mean so the handicap system. Yeah whatever I do think that I think. PJ toward proser prior around a six. That would be my guess Phil again. Plus five point six index. Good for him keeping handicapped. Bless you to Jake Jake. Your Sneeze Michael Said Love You. Recap of the pioneers trip. If you have four days planned for a golf trip in that area with your buddies would you recommend doing three day package tobacco road or doing any of the pinehurst resort packages what I would say is this you know tobacco about twenty five thirty minutes away from Pinehurst. What I I would do is I would do a day at tobacco played thirty six holes? One of my biggest regrets that we didn't get to play tobacco road twice now on these trips. We're doing something you know. We're we're really. We've focused on the content. Hate that word with the content and we're doing all kinds of filming droning and we're trying to get such a professional production value in covering that round that we couldn't do thirty six day. It's impossible we're doing interviews and all that one of my biggest regrets. I'm a trip is not doing tobacco twice. I think it's such a unique crazy easy golf course. They don't love when we say that. But it is crazy. Mike strands like it's a crazy. Golf course the design. But it's actually incredibly playable not that long if you learned earn where to hit it and you get over the visual intimidation. It's a very playable. Golf course the ball on the opposite of like Pinehurst number two there's Turtle Greens the ball rolls off. The green on tobacco road would like a lot of the Greens are kind of bowls funnels. Where if you hit it like thirty feet left of the pain in Pasadena Roll all the way back to the whole and like cool stuff like that So I would love to play so I would say they go to tobacco road to thirty six holes there and then go to Pinehurst out so you have to play one day you should do pinehurst number two in the afternoon to the cradle with aks going to give you as a mix of getting your absolute teeth kicked in by Pinehurst number two. It's one of the great most iconic championship venues in America toasted three. US Open's Donald. Ross Ross you gotta play number two if you go to Pinehurst and then you get the exact opposite in the afternoon which is like you take three clubs out there. There's music playing speakers literally intellect the trees in the wood. Would and you hit some. Somebody might get close to home one. There's GonNa be a lot of birdies lot of drinks. It's going to be the total opposite. Experience GonNa leave you feeling like okay. I made a couple of birds out of time and then and the next day. You GotTa play Pioneers Number Four. You have to do that So those would be three days right there. You Got Thirty six at tobacco road you drive you stay at Pinehurst for a couple of nights makes you go the brewery the new brewery. They opened up like a year. AGO is really cool. Makes you eat at the Carolina. Hotel had the The Ryder Cup rooms where we ate in got great food a cool scene in there. He got kind of walk around the area. And there's a couple of other pubs that are like the one we walked into regis were too late for food but like you chip into the fireplace. Place that weird five five that when we were there had weird vibes told us we gotta go there. What was that called? Pine Crest Pine Crest in Pine Crest in. But I heard that's very cool. I think we just caught on a really weird. It was like no one in there and the place was empty. There was like cat. Food laid out on the floor. Everything was it was weird vibes and then so. That's three days of the trip. which is tobacco thirty-six six pioneers number two in the cradle afternoon and I would do pinehurst number four and the cradling afternoon again and then on day four go play on the golf course? I mean they got. They got literally ten golf courses. They're view crew include the cradle. I love number eight but I've heard a bunch of the other ones are really really good as well And that would be the way that I would do. Four days. There you guys agree. I agree and roads carts too so thirty six holes there you can take a cart And you'll be good to go. The ones that are worth going there can love tobacco really really really cool place more I think think about the more I realize I enjoyed it. I couldn't agree. I was going through the drone footage last night tax andrew Going through the drone footage we drone the hell out of that place and going through the footage was it felt epic just looking at footage of that drone coming up over all the different undulations in the dunes in the mountains was so cool so I would do thirty six holes there. You can rip around in a cart like we said and it's very playable. I think even from the tips. It's like sixty five hundred yards so it's not that long I think it's very playable but it's visually intimidating. One thing that is troubling. Like if you hit pretty good shots. You're fine is when you hit like you know like if you for example like there a couple times chunked a wedge hitting from eight yards out I chunked a wedge that went like sixty yards and I was just fucked right. You're in like or a Dune like that. You're just not supposed to be and it's like have you hit that wedge like a decent contact even even you'd have like twenty feet for Birdie at worst. Instead of in this horrific Dune I make triple which psych. That's just how the golf course so I think you gotta do that. That's the way I would do. The trip I think that's it that's all we got. We have the bar so classic is up next. I think Frankie got into well. You're going to hear this kid rock. Oh speak in great works at the I t one the fucking bar so classic. Congratulations Rocko. I'm happy for you. Seem like a good kid but the islanders were down to work in. This isn't a hockey pockets. But I have to bring us up. Islanders has had set history last two days the only team to ever come back for multiple goal deficit five minutes in the third period period. Back to back games ever..

"I'm like yeah. What's your schedule next week? He's like well. I work Monday Tuesday. Here's a Wednesday and Friday and I was like wait what I'm off like. Almost the Arthur large extra week for us I gotTa look at my calendar pretty bad work from home days and author world. The world works on Christmas Eve. Cafe Maple so the problem in sales to trying to get your contracts in before the end of the year like if you're China Chase someone down in there on the holidays first of all tough chase down second off. You're probably just going to you know that sales coming in his. If it's a decent incised deal you're not looking for like one approval. You might be trying to track down like six different checkoffs. I guess we are moving forward with these people so to factor that in. It's just not going to happen. So riveting Steph so yeah sales reps we'll be chasing signatures going through the end of December but very cool stuff Talking about I've got has withdrawn from the President's Cup do injury. I think a lot of people saw this coming. He slipped on like some concrete car. pather whatever when he was I believe in Korea Korea so soft to say all the time. It's just a tough injury. Well he had come back from an injury right then he re tweaked flipped on concrete. Always it makes me Giggle a little bit not me on concrete. I mean to wear cleats. You'd be kind of the reasoning. Is I know it could get guys on like NFL. Who elect would run through like an and hit the concrete part around like the field and like Mesh it up to? I'm just saying it's like off injury. It's like you slipped on some concrete. I don't think it'd be like that at all I do fall. No I'm not saying well people falling pretty damn funny. It's hysterical people coming out of the ocean when the Clip No. I'm not saying I would have laughed at Brooks kept going fell. But there's a decent chance because it's like people fall on ice. That's another thing we're going to miss him one trillion walking around New York City. You just see people fall on ice. That's just funny funny. And then when obviously obviously comes back around and I'm GONNA fall probably a bunch but when you see people fall fall. Last year I fell on ice in but I mean. There's that little gap when you walk off the sidewalk that collects water right. There were times when you're like jaywalking. sprinting across the street or whatever you start to wiggle a little bit. I lost my complete complete balanced. One time he came out under the and landed on my back all years ahead man you got to be a scene. Cracked the ice cracked cement. The subway holtzman his. It's been a few years like like like Lurch said since I fell like feet out from under me and like hit my head but always have a few stumbles during the season. Yeah Codeword I stumble more going upstairs. I'm very bad at going upstairs stairs. I always clip my foot on top of one of the last stairs all time. Nice not related. Nope you catch yourself. But I don't go fully down but I do that quite a bit but I don't fall on ice. I don't know who you guys are on. I'll tell you where humans I think it's it's you know it's pretty common to fall on ice ground becomes much slippery. That's their see people. Fallen is all time. Uh No but that's sort of it's sort of like Ooh it's an event when it happens you're out you're going to miss out on that. I know two weeks. We're GONNA be in Australia. We got a lot to get to Australia. I want to talk. Around the Brooks Capco thing really quickly rickie Fowler is in Brick Scott Boras out. You know kids. We obviously tried to make some pushes for kids Whole bit on our show a couple of shows ago about kids I think fifteen four and two career match play record? He won the WGC DEL match. Play this year in Austin after losing in the finals last year to Bubba Watson so clearly he's a bit of a bulldog out there in the In the match play circuit he played in the president's up to two years ago and was phenomenal. He's out there with Phil. They're shaken a bacon. He's boys everybody got the most votes as like the top guy. You want to be paired with randomly out on the PGA tour. Because he's a guy's guy they love him he's tight with everyone on the team. You would think Kevin Kisner would have gotten a pick. He drives the ball straight. He putted great. These are huge qualities and team events because they become about staying in the whole making. Sure you have looks birdie especially in like four ball where you got two guys trying to you know make pots alternate shy. GotTa make a big ten footer for par to keep the thing going. He's very good at that but I will say kids been kind of playing like shit lately. He over in China His last round. I think like Patrick reach out like sixty five in kid. Shot like seventy six and then a couple of days later. They picked like captain's picks for the President's Cup and it was like twenty to take and then now They take ricky over him. Kiss as we mentioned. Think finished tied for like seventy six this past weekend Mike Kolba. So I think he'd he'd be playing lights out. Had He had a couple top twenty top tens in the last few events that he'd been out combined or the other things we listed. I think he'd be a very. Are you good shot. We're having gotten one of the you know. Five captains picks that there ended up being but But no he did not get it. Ricky Fowler is in so so that's the squat Nokia's his bummer. Sad will be down there. I don't know how much access we're going to have We're GONNA try to get as much as we can try to mix it up with the players will be around around. The President's Cup will be in Melbourne will be You know we'll be all over. We're going to be doing a lot of different things in Australia. That's the next part of the trip that I wanted to get to our next part of the show that I wanted to get to. Who is Australia now? I WE'RE GONNA be there for about two weeks. I spoke to my brother yesterday and he was going on and on about how dangerous it is. He's like no. It's like everything there could kill you. It's like you don't I don't think you guys understand that I was like well. What do you mean? He's like well the snakes he's like there's just more. Venomous is dangerous snakes in Australia than anywhere else in the world. If we don't have a great track record of avoiding those don't have the North Carolina trip we don't have a very good rate. In general for Weber wanted one area where they could be he said sharks There's great white sharks all over the place. There's Bull Sharks Qilya Saltwater Crocodile. They're the biggest and most aggressive in the entire world. spiders enters the spiders there. I guess are like extremely dangerous. They're extremely large line. Like I might hate spiders more than I hate snakes six and then absolutely and then one of the other concerns the Scorpions apparently few like leave your shoes out at night You gotta you gotTa empty those things before you put them on the next morning because they'll be a scorpion in your shoe waiting for your little foot to go in there. I heard that that's a protest. Although so I started doing insane upon learning to my apartment After having this conversation on my walk oh my brother is just was googling a google dangerous. Australia and the first result was Australia's infamous for its dangerous animals with more deadly snakes than any other country worldwide. It isn't surprising though sharks spiders and snakes get the majority of bad press it is actually an awesome array of predators and venomous critters. That have earned Australia. It's fearsome reputation so then I was looking at like this list of top thirty most dangerous animals. Australia says the inland type TAPAN is unbelievably elusive. It says It's usually in remote locations. This role location is one reason. There have been no recorded deaths by this species. Thank God even. The one byte contains enough venom to kill several human percent. Chance is that one has us make a a run in with an animal that you know it gets a little touch and go. Though there was a four higher than you are foreplay kaffa kangaroo urges attacking a foursome on the golf course. And then this one on the bottom it says rigs you will definitely see a ton of Kangaroos. Australia just looked it up there. Twenty five million people in Australia. Uh and fifty million hangers Shit is double. The amount of kanger is and people to to one. People say they're like squirrels there. Yes to like you're going to see a kangaroo. There's there's just like squirrels. You're going to see them running around all over the place. The last two times we've talked about Kangaroos on the show one. Justin Justin Thomas, Rory Mcilroy And Golf discussed on PTI

"Some high profile golfers are agitated about one of their own young stars in his penchant for agonizingly slow play bryson d shambo who has a bitter charisma and maybe more than a bit because of his style and his wonky scientific approach to everything from his clubs to his mechanics so so much time standing over the golf ball before actually swinging the ticked off some peers including bruce kepco rory mcilroy and justin justin thomas for starters dish took as long as two minutes to get his shot off when the rule allows forty seconds and now the p._g._a. Says it will review its its policies and consider more ways to penalize players tone this too harsh you want to defend de shambo his agonizingly slow play so so i will point out that as we compressed that over two minute thing into that putting didn't even hit the whole anyone three feet by after walking around twenty seven times look. There's nothing thing worse than slow playing golf. There was nothing absolutely nothing hit the ball fine. The ball hit it again. Find it again hit it again slow. Oh players kill fast players and slow players are oblivious that his whole deal the reason. None of these slow players get find in any way is because the tore four doesn't wanna find him but why not maybe the tour tony mike it was baseball didn't wanna rush the pace for a long time and it knows because it is losing viewers and and okay so maybe doesn't golf have to deal with no well not really because it's the way the way you produce and direct gulf.

Tiger battling stiffness ahead of playoff opener

"Tell you you might remember his last start in the playoffs was last year and his epic win at the twenty tour championship that sort of set the stage for his win at the masters this year that win moved him into a tie with rory mcilroy dustin johnson for the most wins during the playoff since they debuted which was in two thousand seven. The three repairs are combined for a twenty five percent of the playoff events contested today and we're going to show you live pictures right now. Tiger woods as he is on the course and we will bring michael collins into the conversation because michael as you saw there has been following tiger around liberty national this morning good morning michael collins. What have you seen. How is tiger looking this morning. You see tiger walking off right now but he told me before he said <hes> oh here. We would have been around this morning what i said. What should i tell everybody he goes. Tell him i'm on the t. but he was supposed to be on t. at seven and there was a delay so he didn't get out on the t. till seven thirty so he was lying about seeing on the t. Here's what i've seen for tigers so far today. It's as simple as this. <hes> it is a pro-am there are three guys playing with it from the northern trust and and it's been just like this when it comes down to it. He's been hitting the ball pretty good. Yesterday he played a practice round with brooks kapka dustin johnson and <unk> harold varner the third and they had a lot of fun out there. Those guys play ten holes tiger hit a pretty good. The funny story was sarah varna. The third started the day and said i'm just gonna hit it by tiger. So you're like a iron pipe and tiger said i'm a hammer and hammer beats pipe. Every time and varner never hit a pass them. He thought he did want and said. I got you on that one. I got you on now and i've been working out and harrow garner that there's caddy do him under the bus and said man. You worked out two days. Which of course it does. The johnson brooks let a couple ago and when they let their drives go even how varner that there was a. I think they got both of tiger. I think they gotta pass this so far tigers. There's just hit it okay. He hasn't hit spectacular to be honest with you because there was a delay. The range was opened late. So tiger looks a little bit stiff like he hasn't gone through his full warmup warmup routine. He said a couple balls left. Enwright came up short with an iron shot from the middle of the fairway so it looks like he's just slowly but surely trying to get warmed up but that's what pro-am i am days four right yeah super-quick michael. You've been white on with us when we had you on before the british open and we drowned before the p._j. Both times you said don't expect much from him. Give me a rundown here. What do we expect from him in these playoffs this well let me start. Let's just start with this week. It's real easy for this week my prediction for tiger this week he's gonna fall fall outside the top ten but i think he can be inside the top twenty five and the reason that i say that is because the forecast for this week is for temperatures to be in the mid eighties every single day which means tiger won't have trouble warming his back up and it also means. You don't have to worry about getting stiff during the rounds. Hopefully this'll be a good week for tiger. We'll be watching and we get these playoffs underway earlier than in years past as they have a new schedule on the p._g._a. Tour so well done michael enjoyed out there. Stay safe tigers coming at you and we will see you a little but later in the program his pen back adam. Thank you michael collins. We'll see in a little

Are we living in the Brooks Koepka era?

"<hes> on. Would we go. We got five topics number. One has everything to do with Brooks. KEPCO ABC Brooks won the W._g._C. Fedex Saint Jude Sunday forget how he did it or who he beat he won. That's a matter of fact it is his seventh to her win. Six of those have come in the last three years for them have been major championships. He's number one in the world. He's going finish this year at that spot unless someone goes crazy and so I asked you to think about Gulf history are we living in the Brooks kept get era yeah. We are undeniably undoubtedly. I think everyone still getting used to it. I think Brooks kept guy is even still getting used to it. I mean listen what he said in his press conference after his win. Yesterday he said you know it's always nice to squeak out a victory over probably the best player right now the best player referring to rory mcilroy who's clearly. I'm not the best player right now. We'll get more rory in a second but there was no doubt who the best player on the golf course was yesterday once he made his Birdie Putt in rory missed on number three there was just this sense of inevitability <unk> gravity. Whatever it is that happens when kept good takes control of Golf Tournament? Usually we see that a major championship in this case it was a flat W._G._C.. <hes> but it really underscored the sense is that when this guy is on he is the king all right so then for the twenty tense. Let's talk about the Erez I mean I think there are three yeah. I don't know Oh man. I know what you think this entire conversation yes. The beginning of the twenty tens. The first era is the tiger hangover your is tiger for one is still dealing with the wake of his infidelity to he's not playing as well. He's got all these injuries so then the second era is the Rory era rory takes over he wins four majors in in. I don't know five years a bunch of other winds on both tours the European tour and the P._G._A.. Tour he is number one player in the world. He is the second coming they say of Tiger Woods whether yeah that's true it's probably not then the third era I think is the Brooks era in which I mean there is no Jason Day speed or D._J.. Iran what do you think well. I mean it's funny. I looked at this 'cause I was thinking about in article. All this happens sometimes get deepened articles that never quite make it to fruition but this whole idea of you know this game of thrones were there is a power vacuum or board guys were battling for that top spot and not just the world number-one ranking but truly truly like golf's heavyweight title belt the championship belt. You're not just number one by name but you are undoubtedly the best player in the world by any definition and it went around and around and around in this post Tiger Tiger Post Rory Era D._J.. J._T. Speed Jason Day there. I mean they're all these guys that were rotating around. Justin rose got in there kept. I got in there for a second <hes>. It's not until recently we probably at the P._G._A.. <hes> that Brooks really staked his claim to the throne. None of those dudes had it for more than one year now speed is one three majors was makes you think there is an era their speed era <hes> what he won on them during an incredible Twenty fifteen year yeah twenty sixteen he didn't he didn't play well in twenty sixteen. He won a couple times on tour but that was it twenty seventeen. He gets his British open and his anything since like D._J.. A._J.. He wins at oakmont. Here's a great year after that then he doesn't win for a little bit of so Jason Day has like seven wins and twenty five starts really hot for one year fades after that Justin rose gets the number one wins onto a couple of times fades after that these things they don't. There's no sustenance yeah well. I think I mean you know you said if you look at these quote Unquote Erez if you look at deejays era you need signature wins to define these things and the W._g._C.'s we have learned they you know for for all the the might the strength of field they cannot carry a player's legacy there to there to flat. They're good window-dressing in for Brooks kept good. That's exactly what this is. This is what this is best is non major win right. It's over strong field limited field but still really strong field. It's over Rory mcilroy the number three plan player in the world but it really supports his body of work in an important way for how we look at Kapka and I think that that made yesterday huge for him numb number one in the field in strokes gain putting by the way yesterday and for the week he gained what almost ten strokes putting this week so you know watching him. It just looks like oh he's not missing missing a shot in sitting in the middle of every green managing his way around now yesterday he got up and down all seven times that he missed the green <hes> he gained almost three strokes on the field

"Of fact, here to give us a read on the torn amend his point. And specifically going deciding round is the best golf analyst, I know you've been watching the golf channel in the mornings to get ready for the day, even catching remote thing down there. And he joins us now on the golf channel and his syndicated show life. Matt Adams AMA. I'm doing well. How you doing? Good. Appreciate you coming on before we get into the specifics year round number four, I need your take on how the US G A prepped plan prepared Pebble Beach this week today. Get it right to get it wrong deduction train hedge. Their bet what your read on what the course, has been put I three days at US open my readers. They got it right. Which was the first option that you gave me, but it also came from hedging bats because hard is heavily beaches Pebble Beach is only so much that you can do to eight c side. Of course, it's hard to screw it up the way you can, of course, say inland. So the US did a good job of not over engineering, not overdoing the golf course. But the easiest course it set out for US open his. Probably Pebble Beach. So it's kind of a combination of things they did do graduated raw that, we're a couple of fairways players were complaining early in the week, and they and they graduated and a little bit more. So they're being reactive to being sensitive back that they've had stumbles over the past few years. This year twenty nineteen everybody seems to be saying, I happen to agree that set up this US open a okay. Not everybody says that because yours truly disgrace, and I'll give degree. I tell you wouldn't number US open is this. Hundred nineteen hundred nineteen. All right. Mr. golf expert, how many times in the hundred nineteen years of the US, open have, we had a player shoot double digits under par. Well, the last has happened multiple times we've had multiple rows, and it ended in sixteen par including one Tiger Woods, including Bros, CAPCO. So it it's happening what you're referring to not to take away from your answer. But what you're referring to the fact that the US open as compared to the other three major championships. If you took the other three, right? EGA the masters, the open, vastly different setups, vastly different golf courses over the last fifteen years. Those three majors believe they're not gonna blow you way with this stat. They all come in between ten and eleven hundred par for all the variances. They all come in between. Let's stroke apart over the course of fifteen years. The US open is the one glaring difference coming in just over three hundred par now for the national championship. United states. I have no problem whatsoever. If it is the most difficult stern test of Gaul you can possibly have where the problem lies is when a golf courses over engineer, you are no longer identifying the best all around the golf course you're identifying the golf and that's not in most stricken by approval twist of fake where they would take collars rough like they did it. Okay. Fine. And put him in places that the architect never designed to be because they're trying to protect the score against standard of eve. Even par which went out of the best players in the world years ago. So that, that's where I'm probably from his sane right now at the end of this week, you're going to know who is best player was this week in prior US open when it was over engineered you never really one hundred percent. Sure. Okay. I will again, go back to the number that I quoted only nine times in the hundred nineteen year history of those nine seven came two years ago in two thousand seventeen where seven guys went under par kept go on at sixteen. Decky shot twelve Brian Harman shot twelve Pleat was eleven chop was ten Haas was ten fallow with ten only two other times, Rory mcilroy at congressional shot, minus sixteen tiger at Pebble Beach, minus twelve now nineteen years ago that, that did the yet, one year you had seven out of nine and in the other hundred eighteen times you had two guys go under ten. I think they're getting pre today. I think you're gonna see three guys who double digits under par by the end of the day, that tells me on sorry the court too easy. No, no, no. What it's telling you is that for last twenty years, there set up. Have been wrong. The US will admit this at shit o'clock. Last year we let it go too

"Obviously, let's start. Tiger woods. Okay. He's eight to one which, again I'm going to say is ridiculous. I would never been anybody to win a golf tournament eight to one. But if I had to I probably wouldn't take Tiger Woods in this one, am I wrong in saying? No. You're not wrong and saying that. And let me just preface that by saying a couple of things. You know, Beth page black is a serious golf. Course it is long. It's just a, you know, Scotia under seventy five hundred yards. It's got an incredible incredible slope of one fifty five so for people that are listening that may not be that attuned into golf having a plan. A golf course it has a slope rating of one fifty five is an analogous to climbing by climbing Mount Everest. You know what I mean? It's steep in Scott, it's got a course rating Bryant of a kitsch over seventy seven while that. And combine all of that. I mean it's incredibly difficult. Number two. They expect some weather, you know, whether it be, I think I've Friday and Sunday hole with a chance. A rain and I think that's going to eliminate half of the field, right there number one, because of the weather, and even if they didn't have whether there, Brian, I think half of the field is eliminated because if you're not a bomber on that golf course your chances are swimming to win in my opinion. So and what I've heard about this golf course, the greens are fairly small, it's a, it's a ball striking golf course. So a guy that hits the ball long and straight probably gonna win this thing. But I guess you could say that about many majors out there. Right. So I look at a guy like Brooks. Kapka. Okay, kept is around ten to one. He's one of the favorites I'll tell you right now. I'd rather put my money on captain Tiger Woods. Well, I agree because kept goes is playing very, very good golf right now. Secondly, tiger winning the masters, you know, getting a lot of pricks and winning the masters but a wins a win. Okay, how hard it is to win a major little go back to back and. Win two majors. It just doesn't happen. And I just don't think the, the outer in tiger saver, especially if it is cold and rain tiger does not play good in cold or rainy weather. He just doesn't well, that's because he's a worst. That's what he requires conditions. That's because he's maintenance. That's why Dennis gimme gimme a long odds darkhorse in this thing. Oh boy. Very good question. You know played last week, and I've always liked a lot of. Is he's from whereas from India, big Roly, poly guy hearing that? Not lahiri. No, no cured that copy barn. Right. Okay. He got the length. He's got the game. He's playing good. I said for years, this guy is got to explode in a good tournament. I don't know what his odds are two hundred and fifty to one but how much two hundred and fifty to one, okay, there you go. John daly. Thousand that's my Bubba Watson, sixty two one boys that that's true Bubba is sixty to one, you know, here's another guy who is just no confidence right now. You know who probably I'm gonna say, Jordan speech, right? Your meal. He's people are I hear the most ridiculous thing the other day that there were when George came out, and he had a stellar year, you know, two three years ago, they're going, there's our next Tiger Woods. There's our next tiger was you gotta be kidding me. Yeah. See, that's, that's just completely ridiculous. All I is so far awful lot. It's Redick doesn't hit the ball far enough. That's the bottom line in this day and age of golf to be one of the best players in the world you have to hit the ball, at least three twenty three thirty three forty t. Has a magnificent short game. We know he's going to win more tournaments and he'll probably win more majors. But he's in my opinion. He will never be the number one player in the world ever again. I happen to agree with you. And I think right now with him. He says he's a grobian he's getting better, especially the short Dame as funny, but he's got demons. And I think that's the only thing that's stirring up on the greens, real. Masonic temple and over thinking that people have been saying that for a long time. Yeah. It's going to be interesting to see how long guys it takes for him to shake those demons and and get back to being him. Let's talk a little bit about Jason day. If you ask me, a guy, I wouldn't really call him a long shot because he's about thirty two one in most books. But Jason day has had a lot of success on, Bethpage. He's had a lot of success on this golf course. I know he's not the best player in the world, but he used to be he knows what it's like to win big golf tournaments. It seems like he is getting much back into form. And he's playing some better golf again. He's my guy that I look at nice say, well might might not be a bad idea to put a couple of bucks on Jason day. He said success here, he can win this tournament. And then I look at a couple of other guys like Patrick Canley, like, Tony female these guys that I think are do they've been in contention, and majors before they certainly have the talent to win it, and it just for them. It's just about getting over the hump. Those are a couple of guys, maybe not the biggest household names, but guys. Is that our top twenty players in the world that I think can win tomorrow? Well, I agree with you. I, I disagree a little bit with can leave. And though he's having a hell of a season but you happen to mention the guy where my money's on to win this tournament. That's Tony female. Yeah. He's all the tools. He hits the ball long way Jos the ball. And he he's got a magnificent. Nag -nificant short game. He's an incredible athlete as long as he doesn't sprain his ankle, a couple days before a major. He'll be he'll be just fun. Every did that the masters. Zander Shaw fell doesn't. He owns that the long drive record like four hundred fifty yards. Doesn't he? Zander sharply. Yeah. Yeah. I was not aware of that. I was not aware of that. I mean he's obviously a fine fine player. I just personally, just don't seem in the Knicks on this. I wouldn't you know, think to bet them, but again, anything can happen, J D And don't forget, all these guys are damn good. But there's certain things you have to have on a golf course like this to really up your percentage in, if you don't have I think you're going to be hitting your gifts your head against well, obviously short game and putting anywhere. But you gotta have the lake to gotta get it in the stairway on this golf course. And again, I think they haven't, you know, this, this course, is held what three or four different big big tournaments before and experience is, is really kind of out the window. I think it just got to look at the guys that are coming in that are kind of hot playing goes speaking of hot. I'm glad you mentioned that because Dustin Johnson has a very hot wife and pulling the Gretzky he is let me mention a few guys Dustin. Johnson. I mentioned, his trophy, wife, Rory mcilroy is twelve to one Rickie, Fowler guy. We haven't talked about is right there at sixteen to one Jon Rahm and other one eighteen to one with Justin Rose. And then you have Molinari in D Shambo at twenty two one those guys that I just mentioned. Is it fair to say that, that those odds are correct? And those guys have a good shot to get this thing as well. I do. I do. I think this one they picked it. They take pretty good. You know, again, there's ways that you can play is, you know, playing really, really good golf not being the longest hitter of the world. And most of these guys, you know, have that they keep them play. They've got a good short game. They have a good imagination. And that's, that's what you'd be on any PGA tour event Brian. You know, that's sure. No absolutely

All You Need To Know About The 2018 Ryder Cup

"All right. Let's transition over to the Gulf side of things here because I want to make sure that we've got some time to talk about the Ryder Cup on the twenty sixteen Ryder Cup at Hazeltine was probably the most invested. I've been in golf in a very, very long time. It was a great event to watch. Obviously, you had Patrick Reed and Rory mcilroy going back and forth. You know, I'm expecting a very high energy environment here over in France with the twenty eight team version at the golf national. This is also the site of the Olympics in twenty and twenty four. So we can do a little bit of handicapping on the course for that as we've got five rookies on team Europe, I believe three rookies on the US team. This is a match play format. Friday, you've got foursomes and fourballs four balls would be the alter. The better ball foursomes would be alternate-shot same thing on Saturday, twelve individual matches on Sunday. So that's how will break down the format here for the Ryder Cup and Ryan. Let's start with a look at the. Course because this is a situation here where the European team has a distinct advantage over the US team. Here angel. So the Europeans majority, of course, very, very well. Handful, the Americans played in that event of, I think on the course side of things, it's narrow. There's a lot of water, but it's match-play so. Just generally speaking. The difference here is there guys that can just don't win because they always say snowman somewhere over four days. They have also or two that shoots themselves out of a tournament. This is, you know, scratch it off, get onto the next hole. So the guys that can be be stars in this kind of format of the aren't necessarily the guys go out and win tournaments. Justin Rose is number one of the world's great. He's he manages golf courses. B doesn't take himself out of gulp Jim, but he's the number one player in the world.

Even before the campaign so this is not a Trump related even before the campaign is a guy that went around the world bragging about. His connections in Russia so they knew who he. Was before the campaign then you see the guy kind of gravitating around a leading campaign and then other things came. Up on their, screen and they said we gotta, look at this guy and that's what the FIS applications. Sort of lays out Gaza's HAMAs leaders have Accepted a, ceasefire ending in his really onslaught after a, soldier was shot dead correspondent Ian Lee says. Tensions arising when you. Officials they say that if, HAMAs or other Gaza. Militants launch anymore mortars, or rockets than they will respond more forcefully the final round of the British. Open is underway at Carnoustie Tiger Woods. Finish the third round happy just to be in the mic there. Bunch of guys that were, pretty upgrade scores and the golf course was was. Capable I didn't want to be too far back at the guys got the town apart I had to stay within reach and five is. Was definitely within reach woods is two shots back. "Rory mcilroy this guy is from northern island of course one at Royal Liverpool which is an England in two thousand, fourteen so for, him there's a, lot of good memories about the open championship including where, he's from of course and he recognizes that this could, be the toughest field in an open of all time one. Hundred and fifty six guys in the field and you know there's there's probably over half of them that have a realistic chance of winning this. Golf tournament so. And look I didn't. Play in the previous areas eras but I don't think. It was that many I don't think there was as many as, half the field that had a realistic chance to win so Rory mcilroy. Obviously would be thrilled to win the open because of. What it means To him because of what it means in this country and in Great Britain To have a second one that's rarified territory right there Early on through. Ten thirteen holes not through ten rounds through ten holes Eric fan ruin, is at minus three and he's got the early lead but so far that's the the only guy who Is that low under par couple of guys at minus two and, then Phil, Mickelson did he just bogey because it. Looks like you dropped back to find him I wonder if he hit, another ball when it was moving on the green Don't you worry I'm going to find him. It's. After hours here on CBS sports radio sometimes you've ever. Tried scrolling through the leader board and the..

"It just made it very interesting on sunday but patrick reed was the golfer who confidently held onto the lead throughout the tournament and it really was able to separate himself from the rest of the guys and secure the prestigious green jacket but heading into sunday the attention was focused on read and rory mcilroy as the final pairing and favorites to win so the conversations centered on which of the two had more pressure placed on them to win and it was intriguing to hear about the mental battle between read and mcelroy with each one deflecting the pressure onto the other person before the final round began mcelroy wanted revealed the heat because of his threeshot lead and the need to protect it and then actually said about read all the pressure is on him tomorrow well then read on the other hand he deflected it back to rory by saying he was going for the career grand slam and the pressure was on him to accomplish that feat each of them appeared to intentionally and strategically deflect the pressure onto the other and we can assume it was to ultimately help them personally play with more freedom and clear thinking believing the pressure was on someone else this concept of deflecting the pressure is actually something we can incorporate into our own lives as we seek god each of us is up against our own pressures stresses worries and challenges but thankfully if we put our trust in god we don't have to deal with all of it in our own strength but can deflect the pressure onto him he wants to take it from us so we can find freedom and have clear thinking the bible says give all your worries and cares to god for he cares about you so today as we experience the mounting pressures of life and feel worn out from trying to figure out what to do let's pause release entrust while confidently deflecting the pressure saw bryce johnson over willing to unpack that thank you so much for joining me today i hope you'll stay connected with us throughout the week on social media and on.

"And we welcome you to augusta national golf club kevin kugler maureen macdill as the day comes to a close at augusta national it was indeed an eventful day we started the day with questions about the weather by the end of the day we looked at questions about who might take home the green jacket too strong contenders emerged patrick read the leader after round three at fourteen under par three shots back rory mcilroy one of three atop the leaderboard firing a sixty five today he's at eleven under par rickie fowler a sixty five nine under par for the tournament and jon rahm also a sixty five he is at eight under par for the tournament but maureen the story today the play of patrick reed and rory mcilroy and what a smorgasbord of delight sat walls kevin i mean really at times it was hard to know where to put your attention and i think the cost was beautifully setup weather conditions where challenging but the where some receptive home vocations and it gave these players the opportunity to showcase their skills and they were both playing what i would say was pretty much at the top of their games today great hughes roy third eagle the day.

"Of that mess and this place you can't even have your phone and what i've noticed is because of that you're more engaged in your fellow man you're more engaged in the event itself you're more engaged in that reverence and tradition and i'm all in we need more of that talking to marty smith marty smith's america the podcast and in this last podcast you talked to both rory mcilroy is gone for the career slam and tiger woods who's making yet another comeback this one seems a lot more for real than as other so in each one let's start with tiger in each one when you talk to people that long normally there's a oh i didn't see that coming moment so let's start with tiger and then the rory what part of the interview for both those guys surprise you the most well we'll start with tiger mike honestly it was when he walked in the door i got up to shake his hand and he gave me a big bro hug and i wasn't expecting that i wasn't expecting that so are found him to be completely disarmed i was expecting i was expecting him to be much more guarded than than he was he was open he was vulnerable he was considerate of what i was asking him and thoughtful in his response and what i found my my greatest takeaway from spending that forty five or fifty minutes with him down a medallist golf club a couple of weeks ago was a newfound joy and a newfound appreciation look i'd never met him until that day so like most people i only witnessed him from afar as a fan of his and there's a there's a boehner ability and a new appreciation for the talent he was given and the hard work he put into be arguably the greatest that's ever done it him and the guy you guys just spoke with mr nncholas so i feel like he's kind of playing with house money and as descriptive as he was about his injury about his back pain he was talking about it being so debilitating he couldn't get out of bed some days and some of those days when he could get out of bed he fell straight to the floor because he couldn't stand up and what mike knows i mean when you're an elite athlete when you're you're playing at.

"Companionship the right phrase themselves it's very very unusual thing like tiger was just beating down these guys for decades right and just taking tournaments away left and right so we sponsor this new generation of rickie fowler jordan spieth justin thomas dustin johnson rory mcilroy and the weird thing is that none of them come out publicly and say i want to beat them into the ground just like he used to beat phil mickelson ernie els vj singh instead they say they can't wait to see him back out they can't wait to it's almost like they put them on their shoulders and it's a it's a neat thing in a way because there's so much like unity amongst the young golfers right now there's if there's not a lot of disharmony like there was back in the days where you remember the europeans and the ryder cup and all that stuff so on the one hand i it's great but i'd like to see like what happened yesterday rory mcilroy said hey it's great that tigers making charge i can hear all the birdies and the roars of behead but i'm going to beat this guy i'm just as good as he is now if not better and i'm gonna shoot sixty four myself and win at tournament in honor of arnold palmer and that's exactly what he did so that to me would be the greatest thing in this sport of tiger was competing at a high level going toe to toe with guys half is age and maybe pull out a few tournaments you know now and again and adding new his hall of fame brilliant career to be either number one or number two all time and yet sometimes guys are just better than he is on sunday and that was the case yesterday on the intimidation factor is gone hey i on your way out the door rory mcilroy came out yesterday and says is limiting alcohol would curb the unruly fan behavior and here's the quote from mcelroy told the spn dot com he said there was one guy out there who kept yelling my wife's name i was gonna go over there and have a chat with him i don't know i think it's gotten a little much to be honest i think they need to limit alcohol sales on.
