Shoe shine businesses suffer post-pandemic
"Call it a casualty of the work from home culture, post pandemic, the shoeshine business that once thrived in big cities like New York. Most of the chairs of this shoe shine spot in Penn station are empty except for accountant Rory heenan, who's getting a Polish. You are what your shoes are, right? Oh, no, Nissan came off, says now that people work from home, business is down. He had to lay off staff and only has independent contractors. Have you lost 75% of the business? Over at the port authority bus terminal, hyrule carded is also owned a shop that struggled. Before I use it to make it for a day 1670 people for like a champ for a day by this time, just a little ten, 15 people. Shoe polish sales are down according to Nielsen and those shoe repair market is down according to IBS world. Julie Walker, New York

Tiger Woods doesn't 'have much left in this leg' to compete
"Woods withdrew from playing at the tournament he's hosting in Bermuda this weekend. I don't have much left in his leg. The injury is plantar fasciitis in his right foot. I can take golf balls. It's the walking that just hurts. The plantar fasciitis is related to injuries would suffered in a car crash in 2021, which ended any hope of him playing on a regular basis. Geralt for the biggest ones and hopefully lightning catches in a bottle and I'm up there in contention with a chance to win and I hope that I remember how to do that. Tiger Woods also doesn't have much hope for the PGA Tour and Greg Norman Saudi funded rival league live getting along. Not with Greg there and his animosity towards the tour itself. I don't see that happening. As Rory said, and I said it as well. I think Greg has got to leave. Lawsuits and counter lawsuits have been filed. I'm Ed Donahue

"Doesn't move. Like he hits it. I've hit balls next to him plenty of times in I just sat there and watched. I'm like, man, I mean, it's high. It's straight, and it doesn't move. It doesn't curve left or right. It just doesn't move. It's straight. It's the straightest club in his back as driver is. As weird as that sounds, like it is. No. I think it's a strawberry striker that is pitching wedge. I could watch him hit balls all day without a doubt. I mean, he's like, if you're a really nit picky person, some guys would say his swing was underneath their blah blah blah blah blah, but it's like, dude, he is the longest driver on the PGA Tour. And it looks like he swings hard just because it's a powerful swing, but it's like, it's so balanced. Usually guys that hit it that far. Like remember when tigers go after it? Well, they have like the recoils like insane. You know what I mean? Like, he's so bad. I mean, he's balanced with everything, but the dude just is like cam champ is pretty smooth and balanced too. But I mean, my God. Watching Rory hit a driver and it's shocking really because he had a slump. I mean, I know he doesn't want a major in a long time and that's probably the only thing that really cares about right now. Is winning the master's complete the Grand Slam, which would be fun to watch, but man, how and who what when where, why, how did he play shitty for him? Like Spieth had shitty for him, which really wasn't that bad. That was making over well over a $1 million and he kept his card by a ton. That was his too bad years, right? Like Rory's too bad years were, I don't know what he'd barely make set X finals or something like that, but I mean, I don't understand how he goes sideways 'cause it goes so far and straight. Like three 40 down the shoot, it's really hard to suck from there. Right. You could do it, but it's hard. Yeah, you can't make many bogeys. When you're dropping it in the middle of the fairway with an 8 hour lesson. You just can't. A scratch golfer can. Like, if the scratch golfer could play Rory McIlroy's tee shot on every hole on the PGA Tour, a scratch golfer would find a way to make a cut or two in a year. From his tee shot. It would. It's just super hard

Rory McIlroy Is Golf's No. 1—but Should It Be Dustin Johnson?
"Rory McIlroy is number one in the world. Yes, he deserves to be. He definitely deserves to be. I think golf's in a better spot, but Roy's number one, even though he's kind of been a clown. In the last 6 months with a lot of what he said, he's going back and forth and back and forth and he won't, you know, one day he hates to live, a Canadian open and his dog and Greg Norman, and then three weeks later, he's like, oh, I think we need to have a conversation with him. Figure something out. So we don't really know what he thinks about it. But I do believe that Rory McIlroy is definitely without a doubt, the number one player in the world. I think that's right. Dustin, you can make a case for Dustin Johnson, too. You really could. Yeah. If they had ranking points for the live shit the dude to do is just dominate it to live tour this year. So I mean, he'd be right there with Rory. As far as if Rory McIlroy called DJ at home in Jupiter on a random Tuesday when they're both in town and was like, hey bro, you want to go play for a million at the bear's club? I would probably bet DJ. Probably bet DJ on that one. Just as far as form goes right now, he's been the more consistent player. I've always taken I think DJ is the most talented player flight of the game and a long, long time. So yeah, I have to live at world ranking point so that DJ would probably be right there,

Why Football Fans Don't See Many Night Games in Lubbock
"Lubbock seems to be on the up and up. It just seems to get better every year. It just seems to one of those cities that just keeps going, rise, climb, climb, climb, climb. Yeah, I know when Texas came to town this year, it was a hell of a deal out there. Love it. And I love this rally, but it doesn't seem to have any night games. I love it. It seemed to have a lot of love. That's more, yeah, that's performance based, really. I mean, there are night tomorrow, Pat Mahomes is going into the Hall of Fame tomorrow night, so that'll probably be a rowdy one, but. Lubbock's got over 300,000 people, but the best probably tell you it's the college towns, like Baton Rouge is a huge city, but it's a freaking college town, right? Like Lubbock getting big, but it's a college town. Those are the ones where people like shut it, shut it all down. Like Fort Worth, no matter what, it'll look like TCU is, you know, that's obviously four words. DFW's big 12 school, but then you have SME all this other crap, but dude, most of the alums from other schools are all tech, Texas a and M, university, I mean, all over the goddamn place just because it's too big. So, I mean, TCU actually like they actually have a hard time selling out night games compared to early ones sometimes. I know that sounds insane. But it's because of the people that are there.

Yeah, he goes, you think Biden can do that. I don't think so. Right after he just smacked it down the middle, you know, two 12 right now right down the pie, played with the first koepka. And then they had the roasters, you know those dudes that roast or whatever they were out there doing it. And they were roasting everyone who was part of the deal, did you see that thing? Yeah. They were like, you're swings. Like Eric Trump was up there and they're like, you're swinging shittier than hunter Hunter Biden's laptop data or whatever it is. That's true fantastic. They just don't guess shit, man. That's kind of the mantra of the lift tour. Don't give a shit. What Keith were thinking about him? And that's what's kind of attractive to it.

Grayson Murray Suffered Serious Injuries in Bermuda Crash
"Another story in Bermuda though, this is probably like a feel good, feel bad, I don't know, story. I hate it for our guy, but Grayson Murray, a friend of the pot, Brenda FTP. They don't FTP. We've had them all twice. One time the audio was so bad, we scrubbed it, but second time in gracious enough to come right back on, gave us an hour, but Grayson Murray dude got in a bad car wreck. Really bad. Really? Horrible. Mess this whole face up. I go, yeah, go back on Instagram and look at his Instagram. He's all bruised up everywhere real bad. Had to withdraw. His caddy Doug schwimmer. You probably know Doug. Doug was in the car too. He came away unscathed. So Doug sticks around and caddies for the first alternate who is Johnson Wagner this week, kind of a feel good ending. But yeah, dude, grace, Murray, banged up, bro it is not good. I don't know. Or whatever, it's all over space. He hit the steering wheel. So here, so here. So obviously that answer my question, he was in Bermuda driving and got in the wreck there or whatever, dude. That's freaking. Who knows? It probably drive on the other side of the road and everything else. I mean, who knows what happened, but I'm glad he's falling for it to him. We're not glad he's yeah, I'm not glad he's banged up, obviously. That freaking is terrible. But at least he's hopefully hopefully can come back and start playing playing, but yeah, freaking that shit is crazy, man.

Rory McIlroy Weighs in on Fall Golf
"I don't really care about falling off. I just don't. I can't get into it. I can't get into it. I saw Rory today was asked what they should do about the fog off schedule. Gary Gary Williams asked him that former golf channel great. I love Gary Williams. I think he was the best. He was the MVP of the entire station. Gary Williams asked for Rory. What they should do about the fall golf schedule. And Rory looked at him and said, football. That's it. Football. Rory doesn't like playing golf in the fall. I don't like watching golf in the fall, neither do you, neither does the public. Why play it? Like, the only reason they have to play it now is because they're so many PGA Tour players and with this, these 20 million, $30 million versus they have next year, it's going to be impossible for these kids to come off the corn ferry tour to keep their card with all these elevated events. So yeah, they have to have a ton of playing opportunities. Yeah. It's never going to, with these super with the super duper events, whatever they're calling them, the elevated events. It just means they're just wgc sees they're adding. Basically. They have to have the secondary events. It goes without saying they can't do anything about it.

Golf Fans Just Want the Best Players to Play
"That's it. End of story, then you don't have to worry about it. I mean, I know he's screwed with Tiger, creating his own tour of the Rory tour whenever people want to call it, but I don't know, man. The thing about Rory is like, still got Greg off ahead of him. It goes without saying, but he's not 21. Right. Or whatever. There's going to be all sorts of people coming up. So like, what's this all going to look like? Their skin probably have to be a marriage in this deal. The rumors on the street this week was John Ron was going. Like people were like popping off. There's a top ten. He's pissed at the rural tour. He doesn't want to play. Everybody thought it was wrong. I guess Ron came out and said fake news, not true. But there's more people are going to go, right? At some point, there's going to be some mergers, so maybe he's playing his cards. Maybe that's the deal. Maybe you talk shit the whole time. They were like, God, we're going to have to really pay this dude to kind of like, you know, come over to the dark side or negotiate or whatever. Who knows? I have no idea what's going to happen, but as a golf fan, I want the best guys playing plane in like mcelroy, what he thinks about the writer cop. I mean, I don't need to be rude, but it's totally irrelevant because the writer cup is run by the PGA of America, not the PGA Tour. And it's run by writer cup Europe, right? They have no say on who's on the American team. So if a couple of the guys make it, who cares? And as an American fan, I want the Americans to win. I'm not a freaking traitor, I want us to have the best team possible. So why wouldn't I want that? So then banning American guys hurts the American team, then banning Euro guys does it really hurt the Euro team at all. That's true. It's a good point. The thing that I really don't understand with all of this is that so you've got Rory you got Rory McIlroy in these guys talking against the live, okay? And you got guys that went to live. And you got PGA Tour players that went to live. And by the way, there are a couple guys on the PGA Tour that are playing this week by our boy, Jimmy walker, who's a friend of the pot, Jimmy walker, a great guy. And he's playing this week at the Leonard fournette championship out there in Napa Valley. And he's only playing because he was 54th in career money. 5 four. And four guys ahead of him went to live on the career money list. So he moved to number 50 and got a one time exemption to use on the PGA Tour, right? Because you get an exemption for top 50 career money, you get an exemption. Is that into everything or how does that happen? That's a full year. That is a full year. So you get a one year full year. If your top 50 career money, you get a one year full year career, you get a one year exemption. So like David toms is used one river. He was talking about that on FTP. Yeah. But there's a top 25 in the top 50. So Jimmy went from 54 to 50, so he had a one time exemption for an entire year and he's using it. This week, we're using it this year. He's playing the entire year, which that's helped a bunch of guys. Which I think is cool. Even though the guys that ended up leaving, obviously, are kicked out and banned forever, but whatever. Well, until they merge, wish they will merge, they will merge. This is ridiculous to not think that the lip tour and the PGA Tour will figure something out. They will. Norman and monaghan will run on the beach together hold hands and bathing suits and the world will be fine and a year probably. But until then, we've got to figure it out. And yeah, the top 50 career money list. That's kind of an interesting deal with all these guys going to live. It's opening more places up on tour for career money. Yeah, I mean, I love Jimmy walker like, I know your boys with Sam and he was on our parties and FTP guy and every time I look at his Instagram, he's like, here's this new grill. Here's the steak, reverse Sierra, like garlic butter, like I don't give a fuck. I wouldn't even know he was a golfer. I thought he was like the guy that does the sprinkles the salt. Yeah, I thought he was like the white southern Texas guy version of the guy that does that. But all of a sudden, I see pictures of him in 7 irons. He's like, here's my 7 iron swing and I was like, who gives a fuck? I was like, well, now I know why, because he's top 50 and he's practicing now. He's in an internment. He thought he was going to play nothing. Jimmy would Jimmy would Jimmy would probably agree. And I was like, well shit, now we gotta look at 700 swings instead of how to cook a delicious steak, but I'm here for, I'm here for regardless. I can't handle 7 iron and I can't cook a great steak, so. Yeah, there we are. So how many events did you play when you're in your year on the PGA Tour? Probably 30. You can play over 30 in one year. Did I

Why People Are Backtracking on Their Hardline Anti-LIV Stance
"There's going to be legal battles kind of up the ass here and you're right, man. If they're taking if you're taking all this money and you're playing over there and the PGA Tour says you can't come back, whatever. That's fine. Also, now kind of Davis love was even backtracking. He came out today because he was super like, I don't want anybody that's affiliated with Liv on the president's cup team, blah, blah, blah. And then I just saw that quote for him today, and he was like, well, you know, maybe if the PGA Tour didn't require 15, and then the lived in require those guys to play 14, maybe there's a way these can coexist where we have our biggest events. They have their biggest events and guys kind of mix and match throughout the whole day. There's a lot of and I wouldn't really call him a hypocrite at all 'cause he's a a plus solid guy. But, you know, he's probably looking at the big picture where he's like, shit, can't number two player in the world's going cam Smith, British open champ. Hideki, he was rumored to go biggest player in all of Asia. We need those guys. We need the dollars for him. We need the dollars from Asia. We need people watching the PJ tour. We need all this stuff. You know, at some point it's a business. You know, Rory Rory's backpedaled with his comments a little bit. Will the PGA Become the Golfing 'B' League?

Just because of sheer amounts of players, like not everybody's going to go to the live tour, right? I mean, if everybody went to the live tour, yes. Yes, but I mean, I know Tiger is not in his prime anymore, but he's still going to play some tourneys. I would guess, right? That's massive radius. He probably will. Like it was a disappointing. It started off amazing. He made his first two cuts in those first two majors. I mean, absolutely incredible, but you know, we're going to see Tiger play with Charlie in December again or whenever that father something is and it's going to freaking it's such a tease. What's that? It's such a tease. Isn't it? Yeah, but I'm just saying. It's going to be like it's going to be like the highest rated event in all of the, you know, except for the majors, probably in golf again, because people want to watch it. I'm just saying that dude, that dude, single handed, he is the needle, like exclusively is still. And then you're going to have the Rory's and more call was. All these guys, whatever, all the guys that said no way in hell I'm not going. So there's always going to be enough of those guys. And then not every young guy can go to live, right? They're going to try to this eugenio. I don't know how to save his last name, but the kid from Oklahoma state, right? Sure, Kara. Yeah, whatever. He still had eligibility Oklahoma state and he took the cash and left. I mean, they're going to sprinkle in some dudes like that, but the young, young, young guys. Now with court ferry tour having more money and they go to Q school for access. It's because of sheer volume to answer your question, right? They're just going to have more players, period. But then it came up at a natural organic moment that was much more satisfied. Yeah. Yeah. You can feel that organic moment. But I was watching, you were out with a friend and I was watching licorice pizza and you came in and you were like, I'll see what this weird movie. I just kind of walked by it, but it already started. So it's not like I was involved. But you sat down and were watching. I just sit next to it, play, but I was like, we're being close. Here's my question. Do you guys, before you start licorice pizza, are you already fully aware that Naomi has mentioned she's maybe not that interested in ever seeing it or carrying much about it? Yeah, we totally, I went through the screeners we had, and I'm like, which ones do you not want to see at all? Yeah. See, that's called sanity. That's called, that is literally going, what's the easiest thing I could ever do to maintain a healthy relationship? Yeah, just go ahead and check in on the stuff that you can go, oh, okay, so you don't like those movies, then those are going to be my time moments. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. Yes. And for the west or Paul Thomas, she's not into it. No. Yeah. A west, a Paul Thomas, no, thank you. At the Anderson family. But a Paul west movie. Now that's no. That's where you dig in. I'm gonna tell you. I'm gonna give another just piece of advice to all the bitboys out there. One thing I learned that I found very helpful. Someone said, you know, before you say something, it's not in the context of bits, it's usually like how you stop saying something hurtful, you know? Yeah. It is, does it need to be said? Does it need to be said by me? And does it need to be said right now? Yeah. And that is how I feel. As well as hurtful words. And you got to ask yourself those three questions fast because if the answer to all of them is yes, then you got to quickly get that bit out. There's a timing to that because no. The other, to go back to the bit thing, sometimes you got to leave, leave stuff on the table. Sometimes you got to, you want to say it at the time because I learned this a while ago. Even if the time had passed, I would say the joke. Oh yeah. And then it's just silence. And you're like, oh, but I wanted to get this out. And I was polite. And I weighed it for everyone to just pivot to a whole ass new top. Yeah, I waited forever to stop talking normally, so I could say the joke. And then it's like, no, no, no. Part of this whole thing is timing. Get it out. It's a sad moment. It crushes me when that happens. Oh, my God. Leave it on the table. Yeah. I agree. There is such a, there's such a timing to doing the bit. And yeah, Rory, thank.

Well, this was I've been saving this one for someone with children. So okay. It's actually pretty surface. Okay, Rory, we got a bit of it. Okay. But I also have a very short non serious one. After. As the closer. Good. So this comes to us anonymous from an Instagram direct message. Hi, Naomi and Andy. I know you prefer voicemails, but I have, we once around, and I'm not a 100% convinced, I won't start crying. So here we go. My partner and I recently moved into a new neighborhood with our kiddos and has been so idyllic. There are several families on the street with kids. Our kids ages. So the street has been a constant bike riding rollerblading Pokémon trading party for the past two months. We love it. In addition, the lovely kids, in addition to the lovely kids, we absolutely adore the parents, a rare treat because I've had multiple experiences of the kids getting along, but the parents not and vice versa. There is one mom who has an absolute heart of gold. She feels like a soul friend, one that clicked instantly and the friendship feels effortless. She and her partner recently married both a second marriage for them, and they share also share custody of their kids from their previous marriages. So it's a fun flow of truly adorable, wonderful kiddos in their house. Okay, this is sounding good so far. So good. Our kids get along perfectly and our husbands even were starting to hang out regularly. It felt wonderful and perfect, especially with the past year of isolation and how difficult it can be to make adult Friends. I'm so scared of the drop that's coming. You're just lifting it so high the further we're gonna fall. Yeah, here's where we grit our teeth. Fast forward to a few nights ago, we were hanging out at her house and I observed her partner was being uncharacteristically disparaging. She had mentioned she previously has had to leave the house because, quote, he gets mean, and I don't have to put up with it. I wondered if he was displaying what he was talking about. My husband called him out on it, and he played it off like he was just being funny. Spoiler alert, he wasn't funny. I left with the kiddos because I was exhausted and my husband stayed behind. They're just a couple houses down and I'm an old soul with an early bedtime, so him staying behind wasn't uncommon. My husband was alone with her as her husband had gone inside. Suddenly, though her husband came out and screamed at her to get inside. It was such a sudden shift in the tone of the evening that she and my partner kind of froze. Her husband then grabbed her and started shoving her in the house, screaming at her that she is to go in when he does. Oh my God. My husband started to intervene and when her husband got in my husband's face and screamed at him to leave. My husband did calling me immediately. He got home very quickly and told me what happened. I called my friend, she didn't answer. I texted. She has her phone glued to her always. But no answer. We went back to the house and we could hear him screaming at her. She was also screaming, but it wasn't words. It was in terror, and she was sobbing. My profession is in mental health, and I've worked previously in domestic violence. Fortunately, their kids were all gone for the weekend, but I was terrified he was hurting her. I genuinely felt I had no option but to call the police. My partner and I stayed up most of the night terrified. Both of what was happening to her and that he might retaliate. The next day it was textbook cycle of violence, her arm was covered in bruises where he grabbed her, but she was going on and on about how he was the best and he was suddenly doing all the house projects he had refused to do for the weeks prior. He also reached out to my husband and apologized and invited my husband and do all kinds of outings with him. My friend talked to me about how quote some nosy neighbor had called the police and minimize the fight entirely. She doesn't know I heard her screams and if I'm honest, I keep hearing her screams. So my question, what do we do? They live down the street. I am genuinely concerned for her. I know people don't leave until they're ready, and I know there's nothing I can do to force it. I want to be a safe support for her if that time comes. At the same time, I'm not comfortable with my kids being around him. I'm also terrified of him finding out I'm uncomfortable with my kids being around him. Yeah. My husband is not interested in continuing a friendship with him and is attempting a superficial neighbor relationship. But she has already talked to me about doing a friendsgiving together and wants our family to plan a trip together. How do we navigate this where I can be support for her and also keep our family safe? Sorry for the novel. Truly just hearing Naomi tell me it's going to be okay would be everything right now. Thank you for the pod. I'm such a busy human, but I always have time for your podcast every week. Sister girl. This is the girl. My sister girl, angel. You're hurting. Okay? And you have good instincts. Both is just like a person and a mental health professional. It is going to.

"What I just experienced? I don't know if it'll show up in video as much as how it felt on onsite where for us we've never known how Rory felt. So I really want to hammer that home. We always thought that Rory didn't like us or thought that maybe we weren't the bees knees of golf, and was like, you know, I'm just going to let those guys do their thing and I'm never going to associate myself with them. I'm just too much. I'm too Rory for them. You know what I mean? For sure, always had that feeling. We've documented that on this podcast many times where I said, very fucking hates us. And then he just, for us to be able, the first words he said to us was like, holy fuck, that was all just wrong. He's the man and he showed up the first time he loves us. It was the complete opposite of everything we've ever thought. He showed up with such great energy just being like, he got out of the car and after he got miked up and he was just like, you guys ready to hit some bombs? Boom. We're like, this is going to be the best hour ever. And I said this a lot that day after he left, and it's the truest thing I think that Rory McIlroy could be a dick. If you wanted to be, he's certainly in that position. You kept saying that. He's got all the money in the world. He's got all the accolades. He's got all this stuff and he could be a dick, but he is the opposite. He's nice, he's conversational. He's open to hearing about how you feel about things. Like that makes that goes a long way in my book. When a guy is in a certain position to do whatever he wants, but instead, he acts a different way. He's very nice and the whole thing was just fucking incredible. Dude, he did something to that day that really made it so much better, which is, you know, we all hit shots. We're all gonna jump in cards and then drive up and then kind of do a bullsh up in the fairway. And he literally just walked and was like, why don't we just walk, boys? And so we all instead of just carting around ourselves and then reconvening, that's where Frankie was saying like, we kind of had a podcast out of it, where for like three, four, 5 minutes where you're just walking up the fairway, just talking about life with Rory McIlroy that wouldn't have happened if you would have just gotten in his car and driven up there and then got out of his cart and been like, okay, act two scene two. Like, let's go. And instead, it was just now we're just hanging out. Why don't we just walk up the fairway? And it was, again, we're going to keep saying, like, we don't want to give it all away, which we don't. We want the videos to speak. We keep talking. We're just going to talk about every single aspect of the video. Right. It was awesome. It was so unbelievably awesome. So we put the picture how we couldn't help ourselves. We were smiling ear to ear beaming. I felt bad for the next player that we had because we all were just like, we hadn't gotten over the fact that it happened yet. We were still in Rory mode. Two still not over. Dude, the next player we had I went to that player is like agent or whoever it was and I bumped him on the arm. I said, we just got Rory dude. Another golfer. I was like, I was like, man, we're all reeling right now..

"And we couldn't help ourselves or so pulsus. We had to put out the picture of us with Rory. We've never gotten anything with Rory. We've never had any document. It really interactions with Rory. We love Rory. We're extremely positive about him. We've heard nothing but great things every human being on the planet just sucks the guy's dick basically every time they talk about him. He's great in interviews, brah rah rah. What we had him for like an hour and we filmed a couple videos that are gonna come out and all I'll say is we had really high expectations going in and coming out, I think Rory McIlroy is the single most impressive human being I've ever spent time with. The time we spent with Rory McIlroy was the best hour of my life, and I think you guys would echo that statement. He has so many expectations and we talk about it on the podcast all the time about how he's such a great ambassador for the game of golf, and just for being a decent human being. So we've got all that coming into it. And then, you know, at a certain point during these TaylorMade shoots, you're just waiting for the next guy to show up. And at a certain point during that shoot, it's Rory McIlroy who's coming. So then the atmosphere is a little different. He's an icon. He's a superstar. But then he shows up, and again, we're not going to give too much away. But he just has a way of comforting you and being like, yeah, I know I'm Rory McIlroy, but let's have some fun. And let's make a good video. He was engaged. He liked all of our ideas. We shared a lot of laughs. The whole thing, I just can't wait for people to see it because he's just a great guy. I remember when we were walking up the fairway all 5 of us together, I very, very clearly remember. It was almost like a Jim and Pam take a photo, lurch take a photo type moment where they do like the mental images. I very clearly remember having an out of body experience where my actual mind kind of became like Casper the ghost and I floated up into the sky. It looked out. It was just like, remember this moment forever because this is I'm currently knowing and I'm conscious of the fact that what I'm going through right now is maybe the coolest moment of my entire life. Correct. There's no doubt and shout out to Trent. You've been the number one Rory guy maybe on the planet. Yeah. And for this to happen and come to fruition, that was such a big moment not only for Trent but for the whole entire group. We stood on the green when Rory left us. And we had an hour with them. I don't think we're talking about that enough. Our worry mcelroy. We stood on the green, we looked at each other, and we all just almost broke down into happy tears..

"How old are you catherine while. She's about to turn thirty thirty. Yes that's helpful. Sorry she did. Say i. I just the grandfather. I don't know how old the grandfather is. Let's say eighty well. They were married sixty three years. So i would say probably at least eighty three. Let's say eighty five okay. Okay okay. twenty you're going to do the rebate. Remember i why remarry but if you're going to read you're gonna start dating again. I think the whole family has to back up and go. There is very limited time to heroin. If you're in your eighties whatever you wanna do. I mean. I wouldn't recommend a high like a bad for your heart drug but also the low three year grandfather felt for your grandmother is present in the love. He feels for this new person. There's only one. I would also say it. So what she would want. What's it's so. The love is so baked into the fiber of his being serious as a person. That's right he. Is he coming another entity sharing the love that he had with that with this woman. This guy could be. You know this guy. Here i do. We don't know. Rory picturing grants reno clint eastwood right now. We don't know we've never had shitty grandpa we've had county grandma we have had a. It's really a question of compassion and love is is being able to recognize yourself in another. So that's a good exercise for katherine katherine is like imagine. That's why i ask how old she is. Imagine when i say codependence. I don't mean it in a bad way but when you've merged with someone in your life threes relationship is relationship it only exists in relationships the fear that he feels when there's no one to give and no one to imagine how lonely it's beyond lonely. It's not workable if you've been with somebody for sick. He probably forgive me. If i'm using this. But i would imagine you would feel insolvent as you that you would feel like i also can we just say just from a pure human human touch of another person the like. I think that. I think we might have talked about this before. And i'm sure you've had it we've all had you had a point in your life where you maybe looked up from a bowl of cereal or you came to pick them up at the airport. Whatever you look at your parent and you went. You're just a human. That's right yeah you the deity that they are when you are young and that's good. You need that because that's how you know. Do not touch that thing or go. Down that w- alleyway or whatever but like you you you go. Oh you're human. So i think that on some level he will always be your but he's still a man and a human man who may go. I really love a for maybe for him. It's a woman for his fist. Fuck shit yes but also maybe he just needs to get laid. Can i just like do you know what i mean. They got divorced. Sorry go ahead disagreeing with. I'm just agreeing. I wanna hear it when i got divorced. I was like big deal. I'll just jerk it. I really like okay. So she left. I'm king of the castle. And i'll just jerk off whatever i want and then about a month of that i was like it's not the same. It's not meaning you think when you're young and dumb that it's just about more gas you can give yourself an orgasm but like you're saying tons connection and when he's in grief we don't know i don't know i'm trying to imagine and that's what i think we're all encouraging her to do is you can imagine what it would be like being with somebody for six years and losing them. You're you're you're sandra bullock in gravity. You're floating in nothing. And if he's gray. Reverend lucky enough blast enough. I'll even say i don't like religious implications but like the gift you to find another body in that abyss hold onto them. You should weep with joy for this. Meme also just and i don't. I'm not saying you're not and it is so you just realize i was sounding judgmental to catherine too. So thank you. I don't hate catherine. I think she's a bit of catherine. Clearly your bow. She's lovely lady. She's yes and she's part of the commute. Yes that's how i pen pal. Yeah so. I'm not judging her pan. How do i see my grandfather and a new context and she's only seen that entity that you were talking. Also when when catherine is in the sandra bullock best. She's reached for her grandpa and grandma your morning to your morning to and you need your grandpa and we're saying you. Hopefully you can find a way to remarkable. There's certain things that you are grieving for instance for catherine. She's had this this idea in her mind that the two people are her grandmother and her grandfather and that what she has seen is not to individual people she is. Cnn grandparents to lose one of them. In what. I think we can all agree a the and the amended for him how he had to say goodbye to her desensitized That we're not just talking about the horror and also just the the the grandfather wanting today to move on it. Maybe there's reasons why they keep it secret because he's being respectful to the rest of the family knowing. Hey this is kind of a crazy thing or maybe. I don't really want to talk about what i want or why i'm doing what i'm doing and i think that her wanting her grandfather be happy. There is an element that she's not grieving the loss of her grandmother but she's also losing and having to grieve. The loss of who her grandfather was saying i was gonna say a framing framing the context of a person into that. I would say more than it up..

Nineteen hundreds even up to the nineteen fifties and sixties. Where your life she. I think he did. I was. I was just going to say like crime was so easy. Yeah yeah well depends. If you're you know obviously sherlock holmes you got a certain crime. Dna no like photo. Id's nope yeah cameras you got caught after robbing a bank. You wanted to or you're an idiot. Do yeah now it does. It is curious the evolution of of catching criminals which i think we're realizing now is not as high as we thought it was. What do you mean won't people's you know. In the argument of defunding. The police and people go well. Police now have in new york city of not been defended and they saw two percent of cases like a low percentage and they have quite a hefty budget. Yeah look at and everyone's listening and you're like well white a cop first off. What do you talk like the pax guy and second of all what makes you think. I am citing real numbers here right that on oneself. Someone posted a thing two percent as i can't if that's true as 'cause i always thought it's impossible to get away with any crime but the i get i realized well if you're very rich it's you can kill him. Do all it crime. It's not even crime it's business. It's called business right. But i'm also like there's obviously a million crime podcasts. And if you guys get one more year daniel gonna finally caterpillar into a butterfly and become a crime pen pals as we can only write us letters about crime but repels pretend to help attention pals but but my question to that is like well can can. I just got do a crime. And i'm probably going to get away with it. All these podcasts. Like it's still unsolved to this day. Are they all unsolved. Because for some reason. Do you guys have a story. The county you follow that. I don't have any family legends. Yeah stories you're like you guys member when we remember like in my family. There's the christmas eve where like you're going to think this was a bit you're going to you guys are going to think like. Oh you must have done. I'm not shitting you. I don't know if it was some combination of the noodles and the like the slickness of the plates seven people in a row in my family spilt spaghetti on the floor like entirely dump their plate of spaghetti on the floor. At a certain point it was re it became ribeiro rosemary. Who if you're a new listener. That is daniels. Wonderful grandmother Did she fuck and lose it. She kept me in like what's wrong with you. Did she make it yes she made. Oh god of course. She stabat stopped. we have seen. We have a picture of like four of us on the kitchen floor cleaning up spaghetti because it was the seven person and how. I don't remember as soon as the seventh person did it. The six person was we also have things. Thank god they they dropped it. This is documented at my very first episode as a guest of the crab. Feast the former podcast of our two. Different ryan stickler and jason larson. But i talked about how there was a weekend up at the family. Cabin in wisconsin. Where we we had a goat like a goat showed up and just spent the weekend with my family jordan. Michael jordan was there. And i know you mean kobe lebron all we just evolve and the goat was there the whole weekend and it was. It was like labor day weekend or as an extended holiday weekend. And you gotta go for four days that like like lobbed that stood on top of the grill a weber grill like jump up there and stand up there and then at one point ended up in the cabin reich. No the goat cannot be in the cabin and we named gary and it was guarantees that any legendary any part of you thought. That was the reincarnation of anyone in your family that passed away within like the past two or three years longer. It was like a like grandpa or and you're like that might be grandpa. That would be wild. That i i hold space for those kind of true potential. Yeah yeah it was great so that we do as otherwise. What is the and we. We talked about squirrel wizards. I don't know if i've ever told you this so we came far too close to me. Not existing like me not even being here okay directly relevant to the titantic. My mom was pregnant with me as one does and helen. My mom's aunt she passed away. Helen was like a huge matriarch pillar of my family. I obviously never met her. Yeah they lived in michigan. So everyone goes to michigan. And i'm not. Do i think for like two weeks. Everyone goes to michigan for the visitation. The funeral it was like a mom to my grandpa for sure. Yeah so they all leave rochelle they all go there but my mom can't go. She's pregnant very close. Do and my aunt connie decides to stay with her and You know obviously stay with diane. So everybody else goes to no one of my family's in russia everyone goes my mom Forgive me for not knowing all the medical stuff but like something's wrong with her like she's very uncomfortable or she's sick or fever like she was. She was in bad shape so she goes to the hospital. Rochelle community hospital and ate. All i know is whatever was wrong with her. They misdiagnosed and they sent her home.

"I just happened to be right place right time with the right friend who that be I will say to for anyone who has seen it in his curious. We did not rehearse any element of it. We did not know what each other would say. Outside of the fact that i was going to get a member of the audience to do to sort of cheesy hands than and he was gonna play guitar and all i knew was when he starts guitar. Get that ends member. And when he smashes that guitar get rid of that audience ever those were the only cues. Because you know you you do have to fall into that four to five minute range but i just remember being wildly nervous and we had done it enough times for me to know. Do not listen to what john is saying. You can't you. you will forget what to say. You'll start honestly you'll just start saying words that don't make any sense. I was like no matter. What forget him. Just when you hear the guitar that you're only q. Yeah but it was so much fun. So surreal and conan's intro of it is what really made the whole really sell Do you have a short story of an experience with a legendary comedian. Living or dead great question man story brain is the worst You know i i. I don't really have like a a story story or something. you know. Huge amazing or big happened. But i do know my very first weekend of doing an official comedy club weekend as a host was with with with the bobcat goal. Quit at the dc improv. And there's something. I love about the fact that it was this legendary name from these eighties movies. This who was a stand up comic and aereas doing a stand up comedy and just talking and meeting with him and being at the club. I'll never forget like i still do this. Because of that weekend that it was so it was so fun and he was so nice and just such a real person that it was like okay. You you've got some people you can look up to. That are doing it right. And you can try to emulate them and it's not like it's a story or anything but i am. One of those students lucky. I had a very early positive experience. That really pushed me to go. You've made the right choice in this. You know crap shoot of thank me. Oh can all fall apart. Maybe it's nothing but do you have a joke that or that. He thought it was so funny. That you you tried once or multiple and you're still think it's funny but the audience just never got behind it but you will go to your grave being like i am was right and they're wrong. I have a joke Had a joke where i would do an impression of an old woman standing on her porch looking for her dog. And then i would say and the dog's name is spicy. And i would just yell out for this dog Honestly not even. I don't even know what it is. But i am so certain that it is funny and i would do it in. Dc all the time in other comics or like it's so funny and sometimes people would laugh but overall people were like he needs to not do this as a job because if he thinks that's comedy he's clearly not good. It's really not good at what this thing is and i would just to their face be like now. This is funny. And i truly don't actually know why but i do know that that it is funnel perfect. Thank you so much worry. This has been great. Thank you so far so fun to talk about this stuff. I really appreciate the time. That's it for another episode of good one. How many times time you think. I tried to do a pogo stick. I bet before you were ten years old. But i think sometimes allies seat in the garage. People are drinking. Oh that is a nightmare of a decision. How many times have you ever actually to party right now and somebody is going to try and pogo stick. And you wouldn't even anyone. I wouldn't either i wouldn't i would. There's no way you ever seen footage of someone trying to pogo stick on a trampoline. What did they happen. What did they think was your face first into spring when you kinda rip the trampoline that too but even if that doesn't happen you would go. It would go out from under you go into a status springs. This is how careful we are. This is how cautious we are if we if any if any of these new listeners out there you think you can just willy nilly go pogo stick on a trampoline through the show for you. We are anti i l. I wanna want to get to this letter. But i just question would you. Even i got so fired up. I almost forgot we had a letter. Would you even mess with a skip. It right now. Getting skip it's goods. Give us great. Would you remember your record. I think going to the measurement and went to nine hundred broke. I broke one hundred yeah. It's not that hard. Why because we went to eagles grocery store or they were selling boegl's us. And i was like i want this and then my grandma grandma you just wrote them a letter governor now and then she explained to me. That's how we got the bogo balls because there was money in your checking if there's any listeners out there that want to write us any tiny letters like his grandmother did we will take it. But just leave it blank. We can figure out on blank. That's right okay. Ladies and gentlemen. I bring to you the great french fry debate though is it. We're gonna find out. Hi daniel and rory just to be very clear with our listeners. That is not the correct. I feel like it is is just the rory and daniel sounds but roles as it sound better just different all right. Go ahead and i have a long standing debate. About which type of fry is the lovell family fight. I'll tell you this letter. I've i've recently gotten into this fight really yes. My dad insists it's a classic. Mcdonald's fry but that feels so basing. My brother says it's a curly fry. But they are so hard to find. I don't think that you're looking. Yeah they're not for me. There is nothing better than a crispy. Well seasoned waffle fry but the bummer is the only place near me. That has them chick-fil-a and they are always soggy. My question for you both is. What is your favorite type of fries. Steak crinkle shoestring etc and. Do you have a restaurant. Preference love.
