"More fully realized team than what they were for sure. I could see maybe some gamesmanship coming down the stretch to say, hey, let's drop behind maybe Chicago and Brooklyn. Or if Miami is pushing, but I don't think they're going to drop all the way down to the 5th seed. And after play play their playoff series because the other thing is there's we see this, you start messing around with stuff like that. You end up getting punished. At some point, then there's some kind of upset where you now have home court advantage and you didn't expect to or something along those lines and it becomes very messy. So yeah. We've seen Canadian teams up to I mean, look, the raptors played in Tampa Bay last season because of what was going on. So, I mean, this is the type of thing that is not necessarily a huge surprise that this is taking place. I know owners around the NBA have got to be hoping that it's not what they have to resort to because losing those ticket sales is a very big deal. That's part of the reason why the NBA has gone to the health and safety protocols that they have and having hardship players brought in because they don't want to lose that revenue all over again, just like they did a couple of seasons ago. So it's something to keep an eye on. Will other teams follow suit? I think the differentiator here is that the raptors are in Canada. If this was a U.S. based team, I think we would probably start preparing for other teams to do the same thing, but I don't think we're quite there just yet, especially with just with the raptors being a Canadian team, I think that leaves a little bit of a reason to pause before we assume that the U.S. based teams are going to do the same. Yeah, absolutely. They just do it very differently. And it's just the reality of how it works. "That means he's actively participating in his own growth as a player. He's thinking out what it's going to take for him to get the next level. So to me, when he said those words, and maybe it's because I'm coming from an education background, but when he said, I'm a visual learner, that told me this is a guy who's committed to being the best he can be and soaking things up and learning from these guys. So I think this is going to be big for his growth being around this much talent. Yeah, absolutely. And I agree with the visual learner comment, particularly because LeBron took such an early interest in him, as well as rich Paul, I believe. And that's because he had that veteran like mindset from an early age. So with a visual learner comment, you're seeing that evolve. And I think Taylor Horton Tucker, especially people who are paying attention to the Lakers really know this, but around the NBA, I think he really has one of the most guaranteed upward trajectories in the NBA right now. And when you add all these Hall of Famers around him, considering that he's already won a championship with LeBron, Anthony Davis, white Howard and rondo. Now you got Westbrook and mellow, THT is going to become a special player and let's not forget that wingspan of his two 6 four with the 7 one wingspan does have a big challenge. The Lakers, Frank Vogel and rob pelinka, not rumored, they came out and said it that they're going to ask him to replace defensively Alex Caruso and kentavious Caldwell Pope. "So you guys know that when playoff rondo showed up, now, about a year ago at this point, not quite. It still hasn't been a year since the Lakers won the NBA championship. At least a calendar year. But about a year ago, playoff rondo showed up. Playoff rondo showed up in a big big way, and I told Lakers nation, viewers that, you know, I'd been very skeptical of rondo during the season, but if playoff rondo showed up that I would proudly buy a playoff rondo Jersey I'd wear it on our show. I still have it and it's actually sitting right over there right now, just off camera. I could go grab it if I needed to, but they're asking, will they update it? Because now Rajon Rondo is no longer number 9. Instead that goes to Ken bazemore. Believe he's getting what number four now? Yeah, that's the number that rondo is getting. I think though, I think that's not enough. Just doing the Jersey. I think we need to up the ante here, Skylar. So I'm gonna put this out here for Lakers nation, okay? If the Lakers, when the 18 championship this season and playoff rondo shows up, I think that would require some type of rondo tattoo. I will put my skin on the line here. I will go that far. I think that some type of rondo tattoo is necessary. Maybe a number a number four with the rondo name above it. Something like that. And we'll come up with something. "Comments coming in here all ready, oh, would somebody Mike Wolfe said, what about Joel aya, yeah, he's the reason why there's only one two way slot. He's already got one. So I didn't mention him because he already has one of them, but we will see him in camp with the Lakers as well. Didn't perform great in summer league, but I'm hoping we'll see better from him here in preseason. It might be the kind of player that displays better with better players around him. Could very well be the case. A lot to break down though from summerly or from media day today. And so what I want to start off really getting into is a comment that Rajon Rondo made. Rajon Rondo said that LeBron has the blueprint for winning in the NBA. Said it's very clear because he's made X number of finals in Harvard many years, whatever it is, 8 finals in the last ten years or whatever LeBron has made. That he's got the blueprint to win. And then rondo threw in sly rondo through and I've got that blueprint as well. He said he wouldn't reveal what exactly that was in order to get that far, but he said, maybe when he's a coach in the NBA, he will unveil that, which Rajon Rondo, we all know one of the most brilliant basketball minds he is going to make a great coach at some point. But I think there's something like part of this was rondo being facetious, but part of this is real, like, LeBron has an understanding and rondo two of what it takes to get to the finals. And so for everybody that's talking about the Lakers age, Skyler, are we just overlooking what the age also brings in terms of wisdom in terms of that knowledge that understanding of what it takes to get to where they want to go? Oh, 100%, if for all those people who are talking about the age narrative, it's silly. This is a tried and tested formula in the NDA and I've got one jarring stat in particular on that. 31.7 years old was the average age of the 1998 Chicago Bulls with Michael Jordan. The Lakers 32.1. Everyone's talking about how old they are. This is a tried and tested formula formula. You always want that veteran experience. You got guys who haven't won a championship. Now you caught some young players too. And I don't know. I mean, I like rondo's comment. What I'll give them the credit for with the blueprint to a championship is they certainly showed us in 2020 that those two together do have a blueprint for a championship. And, you know, we got what 5 guys from that roster now, some great new additions. I think that really fixed a lot of their holes. And so, yeah, no. I agree with rondo. Yeah, I mean, look, I think that he's right. There's a advantage. Like everybody wants to heart on the disadvantage of having an older roster. And it's like I think it's partially wishful thinking from non Lakers fans that the age is going to be such a huge factor rather than like, oh man, this team might be really, really good because they understand what it takes because they know.

"And then McLaughlin was a big time score. I want to say you see Santa Barbara maybe. If I remember correctly, I'm going to look just because, you know, I don't like to get things wrong. But yeah, he was a big time scorer in college. So we'll see he played for the warriors. UC Santa Barbara, I was correct. He played for the warriors at summer week. So you're going to see over the next two, three weeks, you're going to see a flood of camp signings as teams are bringing guys in for camp. A lot of these guys will get maybe up to 50,000 guaranteed because that's the most you can give a player and I guarantee and then still have them play for your G league team. So we're going to see a lot of that. And then you're going to see teams fill out their two way spots for the most part. We're down to. I don't think we've talked this, but we're it's tweaked a little bit now, but there's only two teams, Phoenix and Portland are the only two teams who don't have their own dealing team. Because Denver picked up the former Detroit team as Detroit created a new team to be their team. So yeah, so yeah, and then this year, barring everything going the way it's supposed to, the G league will add to Mexico City team this year, but they're unaffiliated, so they don't have an affiliate team. I'm not quite sure why Phoenix doesn't just jump on that and work with them. But they're not but Phoenix actually sold their team to Detroit, which is how Detroit now has a team. "So for us, it would be, do you want $47 million in one year and then you're a free agent and you can figure out what you're going to make after that, or we'll give you a 120 million for four years. So you're making 30 million a year. So you're making less per year, but you've got that money secured into your future. So how much money do you really think you're going to make when you're 33 years old at 34 years old, right? And you hit free agency again, do you think that big offer is going to be out there or not? So that's the decision that Chris Paul had to make in theory Russell Westbrook could do that as well. A little bit different because he's a few years younger than CP three, but that's essentially what have to happen. In order for us to do that, that being said, regardless, it's probably not going to free up cap space or anything for the Lakers. We're just talking about what is the contract end up looking like? How much are they going to pay in the luxury tax stuff like that? It's not like suddenly, you know, Russ is going to, I don't know. Take 10 million a year over four years or something rather than 47 million for one season and they're going to free up cap space. That's not what's going to happen. Defensively, he's gonna get put in pick and rolls like crazy, all that. But if the Lakers said, look, we really want a true center that can be a three point shooting player force that can stretch the floor. Then boogie cousins, I feel like would be a natural replacement for Marc Gasol if he leaves if that's indeed what the Lakers want. A true center who can shoot threes. Maybe they don't. Maybe they go, hey, Paul Millsap. You can play small ball 5 for us and we're okay with that. We're gonna get a little bit more versatility on the perimeter, a little bit better foot speed, not that he's quick by any means. But we'll get a little bit better foot speed in exchange for dropping down in size in the middle. So maybe that's the route they go. But if they're looking for a like for like switch, if Gasol leaves, DeMarcus cousins to me would be a very.

"He was the driving force behind the defense that we saw in game 6 of the NBA Finals. A lot of that was rondo coming up with the different schemes and things. And that was a tremendous defensive performance that helped win the Lakers NBA championship. So I think there's a lot of positives about bringing rondo back. You could also talk about the continuity. Rondo having experience with the Lakers. Knowing what it's like to be with the franchise. Yeah, he wasn't with him last season, but there's still so much there that he already is familiar with LeBron familiar with AD familiar with Dwight. He knows these guys. He knows this coaching staff. He knows how things run and that can help because you've got a lot of guys coming in. Who don't? A lot of guys who haven't played with these players quite yet, who haven't played in the purple and gold, who haven't played in a long time talk about Kent bazemore, Trevor ariza, a lot has changed since they were wearing that golden armor. So I think rondo can help you transition some of the new guys in as well. Do I need to say any more at this point? Rondo, I think if he does hit the market, he should be the pick over a guy like Isiah Thomas over Darren Collison over Mike James or Tim Frazier and you can make arguments for all of those guys. I'm not saying they're terrible players, but rondo, I think just checks more boxes. And so if you make a lot of sense as a pickup for the Lakers, I've got some people saying no rondo, look, I'm not saying rondo 30 minutes a night. I'm saying rondo every couple of nights he gets in there and he helps you out. Maybe he's playing ten to 15 minutes a night. I'm not saying you're leaning on him. We're talking about one of the last positions on the roster, right? We're not talking about a guy that is going to be getting 30 minutes a night, even 20 minutes a night. Snow, rain moves into the Washington DC region
