"And we need the money for our defense industry. We're going to hear more from Ron Karen and David in just a moment will pause for a moment time for something might say completely different. The lockdown has begun to ease up in the UK and in the meantime residents in one village. Outside of London are celebrating with a series of silly walks monty Python Fan James Russell. Put up a sign outside his house in Sunning informing people they were entering the jurisdiction of the Ministry of silly walks. Now a sketch if you have memories or maybe you're a monty python fan or maybe you live in the UK. There was a sketch made famous by John. Cleese and the rest of the python troupe in the nineteen seventies about silly walks you can even buy a watch in which the hands of the clock. Are John cleese walking very silly so Sihleli. I'm not sure that's word. Signings silly walks are now watchable. You can watch them online and worldwide and this is an invitation to you if you are a silly walk fan. Listen WE WANNA see your silly walk right. I mean we have to so send us your videos and we will watch all of them. I promise we WanNa see you walking Sihleli. You can post the my facebook page. You can tweet them to us. You can email us as well. It's one at WMU DOT ORG so Wednesday. European Union leaders afforded an economic stimulus package. That's worth more than eight hundred billion dollars. That's not just a chunk of change. It's also a bold move and could fundamentally change the European Union. A struggling economy in one part of euro weakens a strong economy in another part. This is about all of us and it is way bigger than any of us. This is Europe's moment. That was the commission's President Ursula Von Lion Speaking in Brussels Wednesday German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Francis President Emmanuel macron jointly proposed a similar five hundred billion dollar e recovery fund. Last week David. What makes this such big news? Why is a lion calling this? Europe's moment so the big factor here that makes this different for Europe. Is how this is going to be paid for so this would be paid for by money. Raised on the capital markets collectively by the European Union and buy some e You wide taxes so basically tax and spend policy has been left to individual governments in the past this would take it upon the European Union as a whole and so that is why this rhetoric of the Hamilton moment. That's that's where that comes from because it's the idea that we're taking these these struggles of individual countries and dealing with them collectively in a way that had not previously been the policy of the European Union and Karen. How is this package going to be paid for? Well they're going to they're going to As as was just said you know go to the financial markets. They're going to assess taxes and they're going to issue issue bonds and I think that the the interesting thing about this is a lot of Europeans have been fighting for many many years over whether the EU should be what essentially would be a federal system Or like in this country or these are individual states who must follow agree on something and and you saw with earlier financial crises like with Greece in order to bail them out. They imposed very severe restrictions on them on Greece very severe austerity measures. And this would not be the case with with these exists would be just dispersed according to need and in the same way as as Hamilton Got The federal government to pay for all the debts that the states had accumulated in the revolutionary war. The you would take on the responsibility of making whole those countries who've been particularly hard hit economically by by the pandemic The the criticism of this is well in the United States. If you don't like what. The government's doing You just don't vote for it anymore. And the the EU leaders who have decided on this certainly people like Laden and others who are in the EU bureaucracy. Who came up with this plan and the European Central Bank? Nobody votes for them. Nobody voted for this plan. Dave Harold Likely we will. We see this proposal. Pass sure so you need every country to sign off on this all twenty seven member states. There are four countries that have particular concerns. There is sometimes called the frugal four. Because they're not as interested in big-spending from Brussels particularly when it comes to as Karen mentioned grants to these countries rather than loans that have to be paid back on specific terms so the e U is actually pretty good given they need twenty seven yes votes at getting to a yes outcome on these sorts of things but this might be there might have to be some ground given before we get a final approval. We'll stay in Europe this week. Hungary's parliament voted to ban transgender people from changing their gender or identity on official documents. Karen why is this now happening? In in Hungary where is this coming from? Well I think it is coming from the government of Viktor Orban. Which is a populist government putting it putting it in its mildest terms. And they've they've tried to do this before and in fact have done it to some extent before but what they've now said is that You can own on your doc on any official documents you have to. You have to be listed as your gender at birth and people transgender people and others in Hungary are are saying. Look this is going to When people present themselves different perhaps than what their documents say it's going to cost them a lot of a lot of problems The larger question is that is that this government is really trying to legislate these people out of existence and it and it clashes with the direction..

"I'm in Phoenix where we had a great event last night. Couple of panelists to wonderful time are our French nitric the patriot and finish. Always put on a good event. We had a great time last night. But I'm watching Florence come shore. It was coming ashore. When I got back from the vet last night. It was coming ashore. When I went to sleep. It was coming ashore when I woke up it was coming ashore. When I got here to the studio and AM nine sixty it's still coming short. It's moving at six miles an hour. I could literally outrun this even I longer run a trundle. I could outrun the storm. But couldn't outrun the flood five AM this morning. About five miles off the coast. It's still there. Wind speed and Myrtle Beach is thirty one miles per hour. The average win in the Wilmington area is ninety miles per hour. Gusto a hundred and five and the title surges are going to go. Hi, new Bern is under a state of emergency more than three thousand people have already lost power. And the amount of water is just astonishing son is starting to come up seven AM in the east will begin to get pictures from the various networks of the devastation along the coast. But it is just beginning. I've been telling you this all week long. It's going to be one of those events that wipes out everything else. Last night. It was I would be covering other things. There's other stories out there that I would be covering Bob Woodward coming up later in the hour. We'll talk about Donald Trump is new book fear. But if you did not see it a video leaked yesterday of the Google therapy session with the five leaders of Google and few hundred Google earth. Is they call kind of a cult thing taught and they were having a therapy session after election twenty sixteen about Google values. And how they'll persevere and we shall overcome. And all this kind of stuff hugging each other crying yesterday. The intercept puts out a story that a singer Google research. Scientist has quit the company in protest over its plan to launch a censored version of its search engine in China Google values right there working with the PR to oppress people Jack Poulsen worked for Google research and machine intelligence department when he was focused on where he was focused on improving. The accuracy of the company search system in early August Paulsen raised concerned with his managers after the intercept reveal that the. The internet giant was secretly developing Chinese search app for Android devices search system codename Dragonfly was designed to remove content that China's authoritarian government views a sensitive such as information about political dissidents, free speech, democracy, human rights, peaceful protests after into discussion with his bosses Poulsen decided in mid August that he can no longer work for Google. He tendered his resignation at the company, August thirty first so Google values that you see in that video not so much when it comes to oppressing, the people of China. I would also were it not for the storm be talking about the collapse in credibility of the Roman Catholic church in American around the world yesterday four five bishops in the United States Catholic conference of bishops including cardinal DiNardo of Houston, archbishop, Gomez of Los Angeles went and saw the pope nothing announced later in the day. Pope Dolan came out. I dole and cardinal dawn. Most powerful cardinal in America cardinal New York. And I thought a good guy. And he said, I hope Don. A world doesn't quit. He's a reformer. And I I can't tell you how disturbing that is devastating. That is faithful to now. I mean worlds are a cover up comment McCarrick has an evil criminal. And the church said, I'm sorry. My buddies are quitting. It's the most tone-deaf. I think we're in a black swan moment for the Catholic church. I know there are some good bishops out there. Good cardinals out there. But I think everyone's just going to say no more money for any of, you know, more support. I think some people were stopped going to mass others we'll go to mass and just not talk to the priests. they won't blame. The ninety nine percent of them are fine and wonderful human beings. But the one percent at the top we're covering up for the five percent of the criminals. What percent of the top five percent of them are criminals and the one percent covering up for the five percent. It's just too much. It's vomit inducing. And I think it's a black swan event. I gotta tell you a story. Quick story. It's sad. But you can pray for Ron Caron. Barry's really, a great man, my high school Latin and Greek teacher and other than my parents, the guy probably most responsible for who. I am today in terms of education reading learning to love the language. He's produced so many great students could even inspiring wonderful dedicated teacher. I read about them in the happiest life my book of about four years ago. And how he approached teaching is calling his vocation. Deeply Catholic four children nine grandchildren is white preceded him to heaven nine five years ago three years ago, and since Maryland's been gone even a little bit lonely, but got the call from his daughter yesterday Braun is very very sick. So I called them up. We're chatting ain't got Morphing very late diagnosis of the fast spreading and almost certainly terminal disease absolute miracle, but he's probably praying for one, but he rejected chemo what give me years sticking around. But at incredible cost, so. He's just he's just dealing with himself. But I talked to him talking to Peckham for his impact on my life and tie. You know, what he's worried about worried about the church is a church, man. He's Catholic worried about the pope worried about the fact that the church he loves and served his entire life. He Saturday night is falling apart because of leadership crises. So you can pray for Ron. Karen, Barry, souls, going straight Davin don't worry about him. They're gonna skip purgatory. He put up with so many knuckleheads like me father, William Daley, who you see on on Twitter, and so many other great people across you taught for years and years and years and years, but I just gotta say what a diamond is upset about the church, and the church cannot give him sucker and comfort as you prepares to leave his children, and his grandchildren and the churches failed. It's still the church. Still masks the Sacramento, the sacraments he's received them. He's received last rites as we used to call it. He's received getting a comedian brought to that guy. So there's comfort in the sacrament. But when you're about to go to heaven, and you have to deal with all the emotions of that the leaving in the farewell, even though you're going to Joyce place. And have the church falling apart around your that is one of the untold tragedies of this and cardinal Dolan. Shame on you. Shame on you for saying that good word about world. He is a con, man. And a cover up artist. He covered up all that stuff in Pittsburgh move priests around that threatened his career, and he did not come clean with the review boards or the credibility to review board was destroyed. And you say a good word about him being a reformer. He is not a reform as a con, man. He said he's flying around sometime soon to turn his resignation. I should have been there by Senate telegram, it costs money to fly around money that could go to the homeless, right? It's not your money. That's money given by people in the pews. And I just don't think they're gonna give any more money. All right last night, where we again, we began by praying for the people in North Carolina hundred and fifty people are stranded in new Bern at this hour. I'm watching on television powers out to more than three hundred thousand people and it's just began slow walking. Have you heard that term slow walking a lot of slow walking? Bob Woodward's new book, and I'll be talking about it the bottom of the hour. But it is. It's just pretty incredible. I also reported last hour of the the last ditch effort of the Democrats they used upstanding committee rule to postpone voting on Brett cavenaugh yesterday 'til next Thursday. I think they were hoping the hurricane hit Washington. Drove people away. It's not going through. It's not gonna impact. The beltway at all. But they they postponed it for a week, and they can do that. And then Diane Feinstein came up with this absurd. I got a letter a secret letter from a congressman received it from a constituent who got it from a friend who doesn't want to be named. It says bread cabinet. I did something bad. There were in high school. That's it. The FBI is not investigating. The Washington Post says there's a bitter center fight. There's no bitter Senate fight. It is a Republican democrat fight and the Republicans have the majority and Brett cabinet is going to be confirmed. Probably with fifty four fifty five votes. Probably with fifty four fifty five dollars. In two weeks. Big news, Paul Manafort is allegedly reached a plea deal, which I think is great. Because he did terrible things and needs to go to jail, and he's going to be able to tell them that don't worry. There is absolutely nothing on the collusion side. If you read Woodward's book is I did every word in it spent the last few days, get ready for the interview that comes up at the bottom of the hour every word in it. There's actually quite a flattering portrait of Trump within a non flat there two books here. There's the flattering book of Trump and the non flattering book of Trump. But one thing that comes through Woodward about this the special counsel got nothing on Trump nothing zero zip nothing there is no collusion. There isn't a whiff of obstruction. The only thing that got his firing Komi, and that's not obstruction as constitutional matter. That's not obstruction of the constitutional matter that won't even get Democrats about for firing Comey was terrible. Comey was keeping notes on his client Komi set up the whole disaster. That is the the dossier by giving it credit Woodward. Kenyan believe they gave it to him. Woodward is no fan of the president, obviously. But he is a a severe critic in this book. You haven't heard this the coverage of the book has been completely lopsided? They haven't covered anything in it. But I will cover with Bob Woodward that you need to know about. So I closed the segment I'll be right back after the break. I want to tell you about midterm madness over at hughhewitt dot com, go and hit that banner and you'll be sent the entry form for midterm madness. All you people think, you know, politics. You're always telling me how to produce the show and who's going to win this. And it's gonna win that go there and you'll get ten Senate races. Ten congressional races. Five gubernatorial races in a tiebreaker..
