"I have one yes. Go ahead bach. I was gonna say only. I think i know one of them because he was recently traded and it came out during the you know fun facts about the guys you traded so my my one. Guess is eric star. And how sneaky is that super sneaky but he came into the league and like super young pup eighteen and he's really been relatively injury-free unlike both of his brothers who've missed extensive time so so he came into league three. Oh four he has one of the best of all time hundred. Yeah one thousand. Two hundred eighty games played. Chara has sixteen hundred joe thornton as a very nice sixteen. Sixty nine marlowe seventeen sixty seven. All those guys came in six years earlier. Ninety seven ninety eight but think about what fig about what you said the ericsson. Alright eric style seems like he's a young pup or whatever comparatively but desire extol feel like the kind of guy who's and a meeting notice respect emmys equality but is he the kind of guy who makes it five more seasons in this cap crunched. Nhl environment fair. He's got he's got to play five more seasons of a two games and he's still hundred. Shy patty marl. It's it's banana land when you think about how much distance that is still. I mean zanny super bowl but he's years two years removed from forty two goals season and his stole a twenty goal scorer. So could i see him playing Six seven years. Yeah we could. It'd be interesting. I think he'd be a great case. Study of a. Is this kind of guy that you know to see. Does he has a fire and want to keep playing. And does he take a below market contract to want to you know slot alongside these younger guns. Does he fit in. But that's exactly exactly what marlowe that's exactly what marlowe has done. The last three years. Four years i know but only but that's three years and i think the the distance and the gap for a stall versus where marlo sat in his career is is very different. You know that it'll be interesting to see how it all plays out. But i don't think i'd take the under on. Eric stalled at nineteen hundred games here. A couple sneaky. Or so my next guest ray was actually going to be another carolina hurricane yup justin williams yet number five is ronnie ron. Hansie up there somewhere Fourteen tied with berge iran..

Eric two games three years two years sixteen nineteen hundred games marlo Four years forty two goals twenty goal justin williams one thousand joe thornton sixteen hundred Chara ronnie ron five more seasons eighteen one eric

"We first started hearing the reports There's one picture that still makes me stop and just the just halts everything that I'm doing. It's a picture of the late. Heidi Stevenson the RCMP. Officer you know walking with eight or nine children and just that look of joy you know surrounded with children's laughter On her face and she perished in this senseless attack as well. I think this is one that that all Canadians can feel whether it was. You know Heidi Stevenson whether it was one of the healthcare workers. I believe there was retired. Rcmp officer as well Who lost his life like honesty Elliott? I think this is one of those moments where you know this country. This is the sound and the feeling of thirty three million hearts breaking all at the same time for one area and one collection of people so echoing. What Elliott said. Wes Thank you so much for that Note to Elliott And by extension the PODCAST and we appreciate you raising that issue. Okay Jake Muhsin. One of the best trades cow debis's made Elliott. Oh I would think so. I'm you know he gave up a lot to get him but he got a year and a half of them now. He's extended him. I think that they needed somebody like him. An Edgy Guy. A Guy who's won a guy who understands winning you know. I think a lot of the young players they've been through the meat grinder in Toronto Because of everything they've been through especially with the contracts and how much Ben with hot air. Those things talk. And you're bringing a guy like Ron Hansie's not obviously as old as easy. But he's seen a lot. He understands the roller coaster and he brings a lot on the ice very good deal a much different looking blue line with Jake. Muhsin in the lineup are the maple leafs here. He is Jake. Muhsin of the Maple leafs on thirty thoughts. The Oh Elliot. Please be joined now by Jake. Muhsin defensemen for the Toronto Maple leafs Jake first of all. Thanks so much for stopping by today. Much appreciated before we get into the maple leafs and the season and what's on the horizon just a blanket wide open wide brush question. How is Jake Muslin Right? Now I'm good. You know I think all of us are kind of. It's it's an unknown time and it's it's a weird time but As far as health in mind. I'm I'm you know I'm there. I'm one hundred percent ready to go. I feel good. So we're just kind of waiting. This thing out and everyone would like to be back playing right now but are you in a good rhythm right now in your life. Yeah I am. I've been able to stay healthy during this time. And you know my family's been healthy and and you know as far as that goes it's been It's been pretty smooth so it's been a good rhythm is as good as it can be. You know I think the other thing that's interesting about it. Jake is that you just signed an extension with Toronto and I think there's a lot of players now who are kind of thinking. Oh boy like it's uncertain and it's uncertain for everybody. There's there's nobody out there who's not who's going to be unscathed by there so you know how much do you it helps your frame of mind that that is sorted out. There's no question it was. We're very happy that we got the deal done before. I'm glad that We work things out and we came together and got a deal done. Because like you said there's a lot of uncertainty and you know with the market and when it's going to be and you know the cap issues or if there's going to be any or or what have you and so as far as that goes. I'm very excited that the deal is done. I wanted to be here anyways But having it done before all of this You know it's. It's allowed me to not worry about that aspect of my life going forward for sure. You dodged a bullet almost. Yeah I mean I was talking after all. This happened in clicked in like a week into this house like wild like. I'm lucky that you know we got this done. And I'm very fortunate to have it done before. Was there ever any doubt? I don't think so I think both sides wanted to to get a deal done and it was just a matter of come together and working out a fair deal and I think we did that I wanted to be here. They wanted me to be here so there was no real. Someone wants or doesn't want you type feeling so You know I don't think there is a doubt at all you know you In a lot of ways are a as much as you're a new school defense because as you all know. The analyst community loves Jake Muhsin but there's also a lot of old school In Jake Muslim as well have you always played defense like this guy can remember you in in Sioux and this was Jake Muhsin But like describe if he could like the evolution of your game so if we go way back to like early junior I I had got injured and most people have heard of this or if not it doesn't really matter but I kind of lost who I was and how to play hockey really so it took a while in junior to find that again. And so I was lucky. Enough to to have hard coaches and old school coaches where I kind of you know. This is how I had to play to to be successful in. That was what made me successful so it kind just grew from there and then getting drafted and then kind of makes you have an edge on a chip on your shoulder type deal and and then to sign in into the West into an La Organization. That was hard nosed and old school by committee with some of the guys that I came up under And it's been you know a part of me since then there's the chip ever go away. That's one thing I wonder yeah. Does it ever Galway now? I you know you're always trying to prove yourself in. If it's a battle within yourself or you know to help someone else I mean. It's you're always competing. I compete with myself to just stay as I'm getting older. I'm trying to stay young mentally. Stay fast Physically and to keep that spirit As well as you know being excited to come to the rank everyday do you find now that more so than ever as it is becoming less of a contact league that what you bring is more valuable to the NHL Right now because you know just to be blunt. Once upon a time everybody on every blue line was expected to hit and play physical and shovel snow in front of the net and downloading the all of that. But that's not true anymore but players like you still do it. Do you find that you're almost. You almost become special in that sense in the league. I still think it's a big part of the game. It's a physical game and if you are wearing guys down physically they're gonNA they're not gonNA WANNA compete or you know you can break them down and I found that we had success doing that in La. And I'm that's in me to just try where guys down in not have them come back with energy like you WanNa continually beat them down and and play physical against them so you know they almost give up. I think that's still a key part into to winning throughout the season and playoffs. I wonder now. Is there. Anybody who you've hit recently. Who looked up at you after like? Oh my God. I forgot that Muslim was on the ice. I don't I don't know I it's because I'll tell you who did say that Tori crew.

"Having a conversation conversation no today's players you know go back a long way to go back to the Scotty Bowman. He would tell you what to do and then skate away. There's no conversation you just did it or you. I didn't play players now days if you want to get them to buy in. Sorry Michael's up in Michael is up. Hang on a SEC. Let me just to Michael Up for a second here will remember. If you WANNA go to Harvey's the Game Plan is you've got to be quiet for the next ten minutes. Okay all right sorry about that. That's not an oprah. I WANNA go to Harvey's now not right actress Meghan Action. We're joined by Dean Brown play by play man for the Ottawa. Senators and the deadline is three weeks away. Now Dean and I mean every year you see it. Teams have guys who get edgy. This time of the year. But it's it's usually a few key guys and there's lots of buzz around on them but this year though the sense of so many guys who were free agents. Do you get a sense that there's more guys on edge than usual right now I think a couple of guys on edge and there's a couple of other guys who expect it just like the coach knew what the deal was coming into the season in a rebuild. A lot of these veterans who signed this. You come here you know they. They knew that there was a strong possibility that they would come here and that they wouldn't finish the year they've been moved someplace before for the deadline. And they're hoping that that's to a place where the team is going to win. So I don't know if you know pick I don't. I don't know which guys the marketplace is truly truly going to want But I don't know if Tyler Anna Serve Latin America for Chris Tierney or if You know I Dunno Ron Hansie. I don't know if they feel you know uneasy because I think some of them kind of expect it and maybe even some of them hope for it but I think the uneasiness comes was probably with with two guys mostly and that would be Jag patio and and with Mike Boorda yet ski because both of them want sign both of them on ob here and neither one of them are any. The free free agents have been talked to yet. So that's that feeling of crunch time coming. You're living in a in a bubble because you don't have any information you wanna stay but you WANNA get paid. You WanNa get your fair do and so. Oh I think. Probably those two guys because of their family situations and the fact that they're from here in the case of Viet Ski Terry. His wife is going to deliver their first baby in the next couple of weeks. You know some kind of certainty and something something that they're looking for so I think probably that that feeling is really only with two guys the other guys. It's kind of like. Yeah that's that would be. You know a car for the course of stage in my career. I mean you gotTa keep some veterans around and you want some guys who lead by example and they would certainly seem to be those types of players real quality character guys bore Viet ski money. Money shouldn't be an issue but with Pozo. Is there like a number that you have in your head Ed where you say well that that will be a total non starter for the sends likes at five million will like what's that number. Yeah I think so you know and again. This is one of those things where it's very difficult to get into the general managers head and the owners had and figure out what they think is reasonable and when I get asked this because I get asked this all the time you you know. My my point that I make is that this is one of those cases where you really do have to see the two very different sides of the emotion as opposed to the business you know the Ottawa Senators Love J. G. Pezzo and think he's a very good player and he's extremely valuable to this team but at the same time you can't just go out and over. Hey guys just because you're in love with them you know I. I've been saying this for a while a couple of weeks ago. I did the math on this. The average in if the rebuild goes well this way if. Jj Patio is still the number one center on the Ottawa Senators. In two years the rebuild has failed. That's the reality. So for me if I was at GM and we all like to play GM. My limit would be four million dollars. I can I can live with the fact that I'm well over the league average as far as what I'm paying for what's going to be a third line center in two years but he brings other things to to the table that I really think are important to my team both for the development of my young players and for stability and all those other reasons but if he's determined to get four and a half or five million dollars dollars I can see him not taking their offer. Whatever it's going to be and being traded at the deadline and then signing somewhere else in the summertime and it's not because the senators senators don't love him? I don't think he's a good player but the math has to come somewhere. Mark Gordievsky being a left shot D and this team about to get a guy like Christian will land. There's a left shot d back. One might argue that playing time might be affected even this year when will returns but Borghese had a terrific season eighteen eighteen points. Who saw that coming for the full season let alone just past the midway point? He's having a career year. He's doing a lot of good things right now. But I wonder with this team and the number of left Shaw that they do have an Brannstrom is going to be knocking on the door. This fall What what is the game? Play like what would you do if you're PR dory on with. Marc bory Eski. I'd give him a small raisin at San for two years You know it's not just the fact that he's left shot shot defensemen Right now he leads all defenseman in goals. And I know the you know you can't work back in the equation because the possibilities of that happening twice or not strong but mark Gordievsky. The ski is extremely important to us. Important players and that comfort level for them is worth something you know if you watch if you're watching the Games on TV and you you watch. That camera shot shot. They have down the runway right before the team comes out for the start of the game sure and some players fist pump in that. Take a take a look at that every single game. There's only two players that hug each other before they go out on the ice. That's Thomas Shibata Mark. WHO's the guy the Brady could chuck goes to all the time? When he's on the the ice gets in a situation it's Mark Vysotsky? WHO's the guy? He asked actor practice to help and learn how to defend himself or fight. Better it's Mark Gorby Eski. Who's the guy that he asks counsel for in the Locker Room about certain situations it's Mark Barbie Eski? So there is a value and an importance at this stage of this team's development that you insulate and support your important players of the future. There are no more important players for the future on this team right now than Chabad and could shock and mark. Barbie is extremely important to both of those players. So I'm not sure I would go a lot of years. Unmarked border yet. Ski But I would definitely sign him for two when I would definitely give them a raise. Not a huge one but you know get them up to close to. I don't know if you make one point five. Get them up close to one point two million dollars. Something like that. which in today's game is not outlandish rush and you know but knowing full well you know the young always replace the old in every facet of life and in hockey and he's not there forever but the role that he has right right now Is Extremely important to this team. Both on the ice and off the ice if you want to insulate and protect and nurture your young stars. He is extremely really important in that area and I did a twitter poll on it. Not that that's not that that's the be all end dollar anything like that but I put it out last night after four. Viet ski got yet another goal in the game against the leaves and wondered. How would go? And I've done this before and usually it's burying bore Viet Sqi like okay. Yeah it's time to move on time to get some other guys in there and there were fourteen hundred people who voted in this eighty seven percent. So they wanted Marc bory Eski back next season so certainly he has won over the fans the way he's played here in the last few months. Let's finish up with a couple of players that I'm still trying to identify. Maybe you can help me with it identifying exactly exactly what they are calling white would be the Guy forty-one points in his rookie season was fifth among all. NHL Rookies should sends fans be concerned. Turned it all about his level of production this year. He's got like fourteen points Well you know I would never tell a fan how to feel. I suppose it's all up to them for me when somebody he asked me right. Now we're calling white is I just say he's lost. You know I think that right now calling. I don't to be honest with you Steve. I don't even look at his stats. I just watch him play to know that. Here's a kid right now Who I feel bad for he he he is just he is having a crisis of confidence right now? So the point where he can't make pass can't take pass You know oftentimes you can see him out on the ice when he's trying to make a play he's thinking too. Long people lift sticking steal the puck from while. He's thinking about what he's going to do you know. The reactionary natural instinctive part of his game has just completely left him. I just can't believe that that's going to be you know what he is. We've I've seen too much of him in the past and know that there's should be was We all believe I still believe that there that upside as all there for him to be a really good second or third align center in this league with them instinctive ability to make plays and to be a good setup guide. But right now I I don't see any of that and so for me just kind of put wooded down to you know a a good players having a bad time and maybe this is just a write off season for him. He's gone so long playing so poorly I don't know if he can get back back to you. Know a a decent level of competency this season. It's GonNa make people have the same kind of feeling for him as they did last year. But I do think that it's way a way way too early to give up on a guy like Colin Light. There's just too much there but he may be a guy that needs to you. Know go through this season through this thing and deal with this because this is the first first time in his life that he's been bad you know that that's one of the other things I think that a lot of people don't realize about NHL players. They all they all don't feel invincible. They all don't always you no have everything all in one pile. They all don't always feel ultimate confidence that you would think that the players at the top of the game would have so I think right now that he's You know he is so all messed up. And I don't know in the last thirty whatever games of the season if he will get his head out of it. Maybe it's GonNa take off season and you know and and a bit of clearing any of the cobwebs over the summertime if this way Steve. We're still having this conversation. Twenty five games in next year. Then yeah I I'm really I'm really concerned. Yeah that's about where I'm I'm at two Dean because I think may maybe our expectations as observers of this team with his guy. I might be a little out of whack just given that. He's played as looking at it this morning. He's played at least one game for the Ottawa senators in each of the last four seasons including this one so it feels like he's been around forever he's also in the first any of this massive contract that maybe he's gotten at least a year earlier Then he may be should have like in terms of games played though Dini's only really played just over a season in half worth of NHL Hockey. So maybe this is. Maybe this is US thinking Colin White should be further along than he is just in terms of games played. Yeah and and you know what the other thing too one of the things that e Boucher always used to say that I you know when he said it I thought to myself. That is exactly true. And I've seen it a million times but never really knew how to do you know really express it and that was you know he made the point..

Ottawa Dean Brown NHL Colin White Michael Up Marc bory Eski Harvey Steve Mark Gordievsky Scotty Bowman Viet Ski Terry GM Mark Gorby Eski Mike Boorda Viet Sqi Meghan Action Thomas Shibata Mark Mark Vysotsky Chris Tierney

Maybe it's GonNa take off season you know. And and a bit of clearing any of the cobwebs over the summertime. If this way Steve. He's played at least one game for the Ottawa senators in each of the last four seasons including this one so it feels like he's been around forever he's also in the first the of this massive contract that maybe he's gotten at least a year earlier than he may be should have like in terms of games played though Dini's only really played just over a season in half worth of NHL Hockey. So maybe this is. Maybe this is US thinking Colin White should be further along than he is just in terms of games played. Yeah and and you know what the other thing too one of the things he blew always used to say that I you know when he said it I thought to myself that is exactly true and I've seen it a million times but never really knew how to do you know really express it and that was you know he made the point..

"I told the civilian ties. I the my favorite -Tarian is when when he got the job in Pittsburgh the next year when Ed's Oh got fired and and he had a meeting with Malone the first date the coach and he walked and he's like hey coach and he's like I'm not here to coach rockstars get the fuck out of that. So he was he was he knew that. I like to have a little fun off the ice and he had a MAC firing last week about thirteen games. And we we started off that year like one eight and then they called me up and we went thirteen for thirteen or fourteen after that. We're right at the end of that. We're at the end of that. Little streak you talk. I see in that first meeting year but it doesn't matter what night didn't wins. You have eleven o'clock curfew every night no exceptions and I was like okay. Haley's he's had a long trip. I keep forgetting we. We're ruining curler. Rulings eighties a great guy. You're on the edge off a little bit. What's the closest you came to an NHL call it was that ever within like grasping yours at like never going to happen? It was always. It was so close to Gra- It was I was just so close every year it sucked so the dollar Dallas wanted to call me up and They told your tally. We can't give that guy money. That was how this her line. I was in Albany one of my best years in Albany where I went a little crude you the second round that you're jumping on watch but my on the fourth line with David Clarkson Cam Janssen AH killing it? And they do lamb basically called me up like I'm taking the twenty one year old so bad I was so mad time looking back he was Kinda right. So yeah and any other wild stories. "All the time you know there's every look at this guy won the Hobey Baker the best college player in the League? This guy set the record for most points this this guy. The Best S. plus minus this this guy slaughtered teams jell record and shit like the all day long and and tons of those guys tons of them you you never hear of again after they try and crack it into the NHL. Lots of lots and lots of them. Certainly one variable seeing been seeing over the last couple of weeks and that's the coaching factor in that of a coach is not in it for the right reasons. You can certainly see you know. Think about Mike Babcock and the Johann friends and story friends friends and still at a very good career but then ran into concussions and depression and But you're seeing you know you could see a scenario where a coach just doesn't like the cut of somebody's Gibb and buries him on a fourth line and never gives them the opportunity that he wants her puts them down in the minors. Like Bill. Peters did with the Chemo Lou. He was in the Ahl detail on pace for twenty goals and sent him down to the East Coast Hockey League according to do so a maverick coach doing the wrong things. That is one of the wildcards that it might fly a little in the face or you're talking about what well what I'm talking about is actually immediately close to home for you. Guys is is the sense where people say well to rebuild and new coach and all this stuff so everyone's gotta be patient. This guy came out of the hop started sending guys up and down every two two fucking periods You know and so I don't believe the rebuilt talk really. Don't you know I it's like like either you perform or you don't and let's get our shit together some out some way. I've been in room Steve. I've been in NHL rooms when the game's on and and they have a terrible period. And I've heard it more than once were the. GM comes downstairs or the assistant GM and walks in the room goes else okay. Can we trade this guy. He's brutal brutal. We know. Good Yeah Right. So that's always a tough thing. Sometimes the coach the GM art on the same page the GM tries to get a coach that things the way he does but end of the day. Nobody has the same appetite or interest in certain players. They're not it's not universal so something Pierre Dorian might like here in Ottawa. Dj Smith may be looking at some of these guys going. Oh what do I. I've been saddled with this guy or whatever And there's several guys who've been you know you look at Miquel Vodka. He's been a healthy scratch. A lot veteran guy An EC- moths out a little. Bobby Ryan of course have been out a ton so. Dj Smith does seem to have a way where he goes the certain kind of player I like and I think it is the guy who's defensively responsible and escapes a million miles an hour all the time so that seems to be the player he likes. And if you're not doc give him that. Then you risk spot in the press box or if you're a kid you risk spot back down in the minors Philip. Schlabach is the latest guy who got sent down today so a Uh more yo-yoing between Belleville and auto on. That's another thing you have to be. You know you want guys to earn their spot in the NHL as well. But you also don't want to destroy confidences Mrs by sending guys up and down. Yeah well either like I say either good enough for your look. Leaf Steve. Look at the Toronto Maple leaves you know so. I'm not sure in one thousand nine hundred. Sixty eight Steve that they went to the fans and said okay. This is going to be. Let me do the math. This is going to be a fifty two year. Rebuild of the team won sixty seven and some guy. Threw a tweet at me. The other day saying Do you think do you think that leaves will win the Stanley Cup in in our lifetime you know and the guy who started a half serious you know. He's he's a fan and if so if you look at the Toronto Maple leafs. So they haven't won in fifty two years Steve They have probably done every the strategy in the world that the guys have tried in the NHL everything everything right my mind get a goaltender. You do a platoon tune system with the goal. Tender's play trap. You GotTa sign more forwards you gotta get a better. You're going to get a better coach. We need a bigger arena blah blah. Ah Blow for sure. They've done everything everything right. These guys are jinxed man. These guys are absolutely jinxed right we I don't know I mean I think I think you're you're seeing thing with Toronto. Where at some point you have to? I know this was never something you believed in but being that In the fishbowl concept maybe that plays into put a little bit because they just being forever your whole Harold Ballard thing was a factor for sure for well over a decade. But that fishbowl thing might also play in there as well. Well you know really really may maybe. Maybe that was one year were they had a bunch of guys on the team that were starstruck and like like deer in the headlights. You know but but they've probably been through that too but Uh I it's kind of it's kind of you know. If if Florida's for example went you know their whole career without winning a Stanley the Cup people might look and go. Yeah that doesn't surprise me shitty market. You know they're they're no oh good for whatever reason but Toronto fuck man iconic hockey been around forever and they can't win a Stanley Cup. Trying everything Steve. Trying everything everything you know. So let's get back to the poll so again. We're we're getting feedback on Eric. Brannstrom of the Ottawa senators and bloody vendetta rights. Branston sent to Belleville to regain. Confidence is no harm and letting him stay on the farm longer. Jj Dez rock we one ovoid. What happened with cody? CC GET HIM TO BELLEVILLE RUN. The power play develop his strengths. Harry rights skilled no-confidence. Could use some time in Belleville. L. Sends Fan writes He's underplayed getting no power play time and he's an offensive defenceman. That's not good press box rights. Not being used right. He'll struggle until the coaching staff gives him power playtime and a partner. That isn't sixty years of age. That would be a shot at Ron. Hansie who I believe is in the top five an oldest guys in the NHL at thirty eight now so thanks for everybody's comments on our poll. Today what did you think of this. NBA Game mm-hmm. That happened on Tuesday. Night where you had James Harden Houston Rockets thereby thirteen midway through the fourth quarter taken on San Antonio hardened goes and throws down a dunk that would have put the rockets up by fifteen except when harden stuff the ball through the rim. The ball got kind of weirdly caught up in the Mesh and wrapped itself around the hoop. The ball clearly went through the hoop but the basket wasn't counted. Because the referees thought it had kind of gone in and then back out again and thus it didn't it didn't count in their in their mind and the rockets right now are hopeful that the NBA office is going to take action and other just award them the win or have the final eight minutes replayed at a later date. My God I got my kidding me. That's that's what they're discussing at this stage I don't see any scenario where the NBA would replay any portion of any game Let let alone something as trivial as this. It's a big deal. Obviously you want all your. He put the ball in the basket. You want it to amount for two points for you. But the rockets they wouldn't have required overtime. They technically would have won one seventeen to one fifteen and they ended up losing in overtime. So they're they're quite annoyed with the whole process us but who knows exactly how time might have played out if you could go back in time and and that That basket does count. Who knows maybe the Spurs pushback even been harder and come back and tie thing anyway? NOPE NOPE NOPE nope. NOPE nope we don't know that. This is the dumbest thing is the dumbest thing I thought you were making it up. We talked before the show okay. You know they're talking about making a rule change here. No Okay so you look at other sports. Steve Rule changes happen because because they never they never anticipated. You know what what what happened the night before and again you know yards in football in the NFL. A five year old restraining zone came about when you know in the seventies when when Johnny Rodgers was so good and and yet there was there was no penalty for no yards. Well this guy looking up to get the ball and guys fucking just hammered them you know and they said look at this is happening too much. You gotTa make a rule change so footing the crease. It's taken off the red line all this other Shit Steve. They adjust these games to make it better. You know better for the fence. This thing is the first time ever. I've heard this happening so we I don't need a rule change here. We don't the only thing you gotta decide is okay if this happens again which it hasn't happened in fifty four thousand years. It's either a basket or it isn't that's all you gotTa do here. That's all okay. That's all steve that needs to happen. Here is never happened before. You don't need to be you donate to make up. You don't need to have a League meeting you don't have to go to the Commissioner's office. You know it was so weird to see the ball go in and then it got kind of caught up in the mash enough enough so that it Kinda swooped upward and then just as the trajectory of it's going upward it released from the bottom of the net nuts back bought bouncing on top and then it bounces off the rim doesn't go back in and so the odds of that happening not real good but the referee should still be able to see it and they basically said the play could have been reviewed. It is a reviewable matter but you have a window of thirty seconds to challenge it and at that stage of the game the rockets head coach. Mike Deane Antoni. He did have a chance but he was so busy. Griping wrote this. Or that the time elapsed before he was able to get them to challenge it Dantonio on the other hand is challenging. That basically saying you know I I kept asking about a review and they kept saying no. He can't challenge this. You can't challenge that. And his exact. What was I heard that they said the ball hit James and went back through so it was goaltending so challenged that immediately and they didn't respond then another guy said it wasn't goaltending? It went out of balance on us and I said well okay. I'll challenge that then. And then they told me you can't do that and so to answer your question. I got nothing. I can't tell you so. He was Chao's definitely trying to challenge things and they kept saying. You can't challenge that. Yeah you know whether he challenged or not I mean the whole thing is just stand back look at this thing and the only thing they got to fix this it is if it ever happens again you know I guess even even you're not replaying the game that's for sure Steve even if that that thing was decided the game even if it was a buzzer beater slam dunk and they look at it and go. Okay we've got to make a decision right away whether caper what I don't know they play. I don't know if they went into overtime tying basket or just just ridiculous that in my mind. Well Yeah I agree I. I feel like when the game's over and everybody goes home. That probably should be it and I thought that that would be unprecedented but what I'm looking at. ESPN right now and it did happen in the NBA. You go back in two thousand eight. That was the last part of a game ended up being replayed yet the Miami Heat and the Atlanta Hawks and they were forced to Redo the ending of Agreem- four months after it was played four months after they ruled that Shaquille O'Neal did not follow the game which he was set off from so the two teams met the next time they were scheduled to play in. The hawks ultimately came away with with the win. So it has happened before so. It's not unprecedented. Like I thought it was and I think that is a dumb ruling as well. Miss Mistakes APP. Well maybe yeah. Maybe now though you you wouldn't see that because probably since that time I don't think it would go back that far. That's eleven years ago but now that they have video review view right in the NBA. Right the Games get stopped. The reps go over to the sideline. They whipped up for. Can I pat around. They look at it you know make make a call a Maintain the caller reverse it..

"The second period of tonight's game is presented by Florida catcher specialists and research institute were hope is powered by science. Here's Dave Michigan. Lighting up first period goals from Johnson and Sara Lee to nothing after one in the second period. Basil lusty now that to our rate Frederik Anderson of the goal to our left. One thing that Derek Alon had said during the intermission about Andrei vasilevskiy was his compete level especially coming after a loss, and and the lightning welcoming after a loss. Fifteen one in one they had a really great performance against the Detroit Red Wings in their last game and Toronto also having one of their most complete games and efforts in a long time against Edmonton. With the exception of the final two minutes of the game where Edmund nearly came back and tied it, but both these teams entering tonight came out. With the hunger in a sense of urgency in Toronto, obviously having a lot more to play for as far as positioning trying to catch Boston and the lightning a little bit in cruise control now that they have that ax next to their name, but they're not playing like it. They don't want to keep their foot off the gas pedal. Surly and cadre at center ice. Start the second one by Sara Lee nurse. Ryan mcdonagh and the lightning in left side. Feed corn chops it in cadre to retrieve by the Toronto net gets the Muslim couldn't clear held in Chernick, right point, right corner, Lee, Muslim blocks it and forces it out Tanaz cadre at center ice. He'll slip it forward to the lightning. Again. Mcdonagh retrieves rims around the nearside safely out to center ice. Zaitsev? Couldn't quite stop at center ice and ends up coming behind the net. And Alex corn grabs right circle. I stamp. Stamkos shoots getting a piece. Anderson. Just deflected it over the net. Cadre after the puck in the far corner for Patrick Marlowe. Couldn't get it away from circa maneuvers it to stamkos on the left wing middle Polat, but good rebuffs stepped in front of blocking and a quick counter here as Johnson will get the puck into the lightning in and pursue it by that Johnson is Jack by Sergei well-done on Polat, spins it out to center, here's Ron. "That game misconduct podcast with Don league-record and welcome to the Tuesday edition of game is conduct. I am the Greg. Let's get right to it. Major trade the NHL last night Muhsin goes from Los Angeles to the Maple Leafs. And we've talked about it plenty of times drop the wants to make a serious run at a Stanley Cup. They had to improve their defense more. Specifically, a stay at home defenceman. We'll Muslim comes in. It's got twenty one points on the season. He's not slouches far as offenses concern, you know, play on top pairing with Riley. So there's a lot of production that that defensive units gonna give you, but they've gotta find somebody outside of Ron Hansie who's thirty seven years old that could be a guy that could stand up forwards at the blue line that can go after the best forward on the other team, matchup wise. I mean, they were gonna lose every match of Toronto in the playoffs. It gets really good team because they didn't have anybody to go up against you know, the top line for Boston team. They're likely going to play in the first round. How do you stop Sidney Crosby of getting Malik? And how do you stop Alexander Ovechkin and nNcholas Backstrom? How do you stop stamkos and kucherov? If you wanna make run to the Stanley Cup final. So I'm not saying that Muhsin cures all ills. But it makes a lot of sense now first round pick and some prospects. That's pretty juicy but Muslims under contract through next year. It's a management deal as far as the cap is concerned a four point six million dollars. And I'm sure the Toronto will consider after the nineteen twenty season. Whether they want to bring. Him back. We'll see where the calorie salary cap structure is going to be and what ends up happening with some of their free agents. But it's not like, it's a rental. You have them for a run this year and next year and may have the wherewithal to keep him around Muslim. Of course was part of to Stanley Cup championships with the Los Angeles Kings. So he's been there. He's done that. These are the types of moves teams have to make now on the surface. When you think about defense been that I want to make a run I'm not sure Jake Muhsin was on like the top list of fans out there who said that's going to be the difference between winning Stanley Cup or not. But certainly he had been on the radar of many general managers around the league Toronto makes the move. And now they've improved themselves with the acquisition of Taveras during the off season which bolstered their offense big time and has allowed them to fight through some of the injuries. They've had with Matthews with the holdout of Neil Lander. And now they get themselves study defenseman the acquisition of Hanes. He was also a good one last year. So you sprinkle in the offense with sites with Riley with Gardner, and now you've got. To stay at home guys. But Muslim as I said could produce some offense in any given year this guy that can give you forty fifty points on on Toronto. This is a guy that can be a stay at home defenseman that could score north of fifty points on this team. So I think the acquisition was good. We've seen in recent years that the trade deadline is just a mere suggestion that it seems like a lot of deals get done way before the deadline. So even before we get into February. We're seeing these deals get done so slightly under a month before the deadline Toronto, they sound the bell. I and now we'll see who else. Decides to follow will Boston trying to make a move now to try to keep up with Toronto to try to get that home ice advantage in the first round who else in the Eastern Conference is gonna make a deal. What's Pittsburgh going to do another loss for the penguins last night? They cannot beat the devils on a bet six Owen one New Jersey against Pittsburgh over the last couple of years, including all three meetings this year being devil wins. So just it's crazy that the devils a team. That listen last year. I guess it makes sense because they were a playoff team. But the doubles do not look like a playoff team this year and still own a playoff team. But this Pittsburgh think about making move to solidify a plow spot. What is Washington do as they seem to be in free fall?.

"The ultimate distraction of being able to play while all this family tragedy is going around him and to be strong for his wife and strong for his team it must have been devastating to see the game end in the way that it did i was eerily similar to what happened i thought in two thousand three when the senators fought so hard to tie the game seven against the devil's if you remember when roger nielsen was going through his cancer and i just remember when the senators lost that game just how the players on the ice just collapse they were they were just lying there they they gave everything that they could to win everything that they could and i know i'm a hockey guy and i know that the other there's a hockey audience there but in this sports world where it's a me generation it's about my contract it's about how much attention i'm going to be able to get to see hockey players lay it on the line to just advance to survive in advance it's not about the money it's not about the fame it's not about you know what i did what i contributed about making the ultimate sacrifice with a team that's why i just love hockey so much and what makes it so great makes a devastating we see a team do everything they could to try to win a game and get to the stanley cup final and fall short uh but pittsburgh i feel great for ron hansie's entire career never been to the playoffs now is getting a chance to go to the down like a final sydney crosby cementing himself as the world class player that he is a getting pittsburgh the backtoback finals and enshrined to win a stanley cup in backtoback years that has not happened in the salary cap era the last time a team wanna stanley cup 'backtoback years was ninety seven ninety eight and that was before the lockout that was before the salary cap so pittsburgh do something that really has not been done against the national team that is very well rested.
