White House Dismisses Reports of Bounties, but Is Silent on Russia

"The white. House is still trying to grapple with reports that Russia paid bounties to taliban-linked militants to kill U, S and coalition forces in Afghanistan and that the president was told about the plot months ago tonight. The Washington Post says trump has no plans for an immediate response because he quote does not believe the reports. Reports are true or actionable. According to two senior administration officials this morning on social media, trump again dismissed the issue calling it quote just another made up by fake news tale that is told only to damage me and the Republican Party just another hoax hours later, the praise the president made his first public comments about the Intel echoing his administration's lied about not having been briefed because the information had not been verified. We never heard about it because intelligence never found it to be. Of the of that a level where it would rise to that I'm sure I don't see many things that they don't think rose to the occasion. This didn't rise to the occasion and from what I hear. And I hear it pretty good. The intelligence people didn't even many of them didn't believe it happened at all. I think it's a hoax. I think it's a hoax by the newspapers and the Democrats. This was something that never got presented to me and they know that never got presented because it didn't rise to that level. Trump's national security advisor and press secretary offered reports. The slightly different take on why trump wasn't informed about. The Intel appeared to focus on one unnamed Diana staffer. The person decided. Early on whether the president should be briefed on this in the Oval in the oval tells briefing was his career senior career civil servant. Officer I and she made that decision because she didn't have confidence in the intelligence that came up and we had this. Ron Telling we started an interagency process to look at options so that if the if the intelligence turned out to be verified, if it could be corroborated, then we'd have options to go to the president with it was a career. CIA officer with more than thirty years a tenure who made the decision not to brief up in the national security adviser agreed with that decision. That was the right decision to make at this moment as I speak to you, it is still unverified. Today the Senate intelligence. Committee became the latest group of lawmakers to get a briefing on the from the administration on the bounty plot. A new report in politico says quote. Top White House officials confirmed lawmakers this week that the Russian bounty intelligence was included in trump's dealing written brief in late February Capitol Hill. Sources say even though it had not been briefed to the president orally by that point, the article does not. Not Specify which lawmakers received this information. The gang of eight members of Congress who the administration usually keeps in the loop on critical national security matters are still hoping to get their own briefing from the director of the CIA the Director of the National Director of National Intelligence and the head of the National Security Agency that meeting had been scheduled to take place today, but this morning it was postponed until tomorrow.

It is a great book by any stretch of the imagination. It's a great book and Roger Conroy. To a whole lot of books none as successful as that may be as good. But but none as successful as that in the mid nineteen seventies when the New York Times created. Something called Sports Monday. The first standalone sports section the New York Times had ever created needed. I was on the staff and Roger. Kahn was somebody who was brought in to write columns for that section. I met him once very very briefly. Pleasant pleasant you know. I don't have any other memory other than he was pleasant but he was the get. Here's the biggest name that you could possibly get in sports writing at that at that point And and the columns were. They weren't great because he hadn't done it in such a long time. It's Roger Kahn. For me he is the cautionary tales. A lot of people out there people say. Why don't you write anymore? Because I can't have that muscle anymore. I'm not going to go out there and make I make a fool of myself enough. I'm not GonNa do it in something. I really respect which is writing. I mean this stuff was okay but it wasn't great and that's sort of what happens because you just can't parachute in and do this thing like you used to do you. Could I would happily let you run my old work. I still wanted to anything new because I can't do it and he was really really good. This book stands alone. It's a great book. It's not what a great sports book. It's a great book. Yes right primary. Thank Gosh in New Hampshire. Yes can I. And it is is going by the same same setup. According to a lot more polling available in the polling will be more reliable. It's easier to pull appropriate in a caucus you're looking at Bernie and Buda judge again competing for verse and Biden. Potentially there's a tracking poll. So they do it every night. There's a tracking poll that suggests Biden could would finish Fifth Noren and clothing stunned club shirts trending though then he's done right then he has to stop. Well so he's he's I would say he's. He's ninety eight percent done. If he comes in fifth he does not however have to stop. He's got the money I mean. Well he has no. He doesn't have the the money to to get through to totally out of South Carolina. You could. He could travel to Nevada and travel to South Carolina but he does not have the money to to to run advertisements. Advertise okay so there are two questions that suggests themselves. This is far from. This is the first time where's hunter. This is the first time I'm that people will actually vote in the way that we understand voting this thing in Iowa raising hands since nonce that people commendable the New New York Times piece is voting called epic epic failure about that. If you read two paragraphs of it and you're like how does this is this allowed the nonsense. This is not nonsense. Now this is this is an electorate that may not look like the rest of America. Because there's a lot of states majority the majority of states may not look new. Hampshire is the third way to state in the country New Hampshire. Has How many people in New Hampshire there over million people in New Hampshire. Yes because it has two congressional districts and the districts are now about six hundred. It's probably about one guessing. One point four fifteen smallest state in the Congo if not one of the one point three five six million two thousand eighteen. It's not a lot of people but the other question is the. It's the larger question him and this comes out of a conversation. I had with Steve Watson yesterday who was was at one point a Republican strategist and he posed. This and I'll I'll do it to Chris. At what point is Mike Bloomberg have to actually get his hands dirty and not just to fly over advertising which is very effective of and very lovely but what at some point. He's going to have to put his name on a ballot right. Yeah Marci Word People March third. He will continue to do fly over advertising. I mean remember That I the first four states are small what we call retail politics which means Nevada. Hands Minute Kit Right. The Nevada Nevada is a big state size wise but in terms of population. That's all in Las Vegas and Reno effectively and the rest of America to a democratic caucus south of Carolinas still a pretty manageable state after that the process opens up March third. which they're calling Super Tuesday? I think fourteen states vote including Texas and California which took the three biggest delegate halls. You can just run. T. In fact you probably have to just run teams. You can go do an appearance in Huston you know you can go to Sacramento or more likely. La into an appears. But it's not like Iowa where you spend eighty days there But he will be on the ballot. Starting March third in his goal is to rack up tawny delegates in those states. which by the way if you look at? There's not been that much polling done brief we'll get gun in California or Texas you know he's in the mix and again the best thing for Mike Bloomberg would be a a out or very badly damaged. Joe Biden heading into March third and as of whatever February tenth. That seems pretty pretty likely. Yeah okay. And he's now three hundred and fifty million on television advertising. which if you look up the Washington Post says this great graphic of what does whatever might bloomber expense? What is is that like in our life and I looked up he was at two hundred and fifty million and I looked up in my life? What two hundred fifty million is to me? It's it's a slot at starbucks. Excuse me that that's how rich she is and self made and this is like when Michael Jordan. That's a a lot of money and it. Just it doesn't mean anything Michael Jordan. It doesn't Michael Jordan. There's no amount of money in the world that Nike could pay him on a yearly basis. That would do the justice to what he has done for Nike. This just not. I don't care if they pay him a hundred million dollars a year. He's worth more than that. So what else the baseball Mr Tony. One deal dead. One deal has gone through We'll get to the deal that went through the mookie Betts and David Price Trade to the dodgers has finally gone through There are some problems with reliever or starting pitcher that The twins are going to send to the red sox medical mysteries. Yes so the dodgers new twins did a play for player that that Pitcher in question Bras Dr Grohl goes to the dodgers. The Ken the twins. None of that matters what matters is the dodgers got moved price in half of David prices. Salary a wonderful trade. Most everybody in the New England area is thrilled with trae. Can't be happy bloody difficult but Doug Peterson to the angels is off. Wow how was that. That was connected to the other Diaz separate don't understand that and it's something that the restructuring of of the that steal. If John Peterson goes to the angels here is two three four five six. And I don't care if you're right hand or left hand or or you throw ambidextrous Louis. It's trout ren don't Peterson Otani potholes. Nobody wants to face that four times. Nobody on earth with wants to face that four times the angels have to get jock. "Rights I ran across this and thought it might replace the one floating in your basement. If you haven't got a phonograph. Just try playing it in your new car. If that doesn't work Kjell representative until a worker. Man Avails himself. And that's it's a lovely note and I remember this album. Well because it's got good thing on it and hungry and you know these are these are old time rock and roll songs in the days before rock and roll got nuanced. You know but it was fun. Was it good thing that was in Once upon a time in Hollywood yeah. That's that's how that's how I remembered the album and all of that. And what does this other stuff that we've got. Oh this is a lovely calendar grand rapids ballet calendar. I already have one sent to us by rate nod. Okay right cool. No No the other ray and this is a book by Jim. Flynn yes yes be sincere even when you don't mean it so I've lived my life that we might Clyde show soon just to describe. You can fake sincerity. You can take just about any exactly when people sent blank cheques. No for us to fill out now. That would be helpful for situation. No no I'm I'm not get into There's a couple of things that were going to open with. We're gonNA open with things actually that the Gulf happened over the weekend both yesterday and Saturday and of course Friday and Thursday and the UNC Duke became almost dealt with the UNC game because the it look the UNC. Duke game is a fabulous games fabulous game. Even though it shouldn't have been duke should would have one with a certain amount of comfort but there's a there's A. They released this before the game. That over the last. It's either over. The last hundred games names that the two teams have played or over the last fifty games. It was either that it was fifty to fifty or twenty five to twenty five and they had scored the same amount of points the aggregate amount of points. Where exactly the same fake news? People who who think that do Carolina isn't much there you know. It's like Ohio State Michigan. Of course it's much stop. It's a big deal. It is a big deal. It's a big deal Michael. How did your house sold you have a dookie? And her father is North Carolinian. So so how did how did that work in your do. They contact each other during the game. So Chan famously cannot watch the games. If it's closing. He cares about but Sunday morning. A little baby boy. Buzi was saying Goad Duke on a tough with GRANDPA bright and that was hard for Chan terrible but his daughter lives group Carolina Linux fan but now but she went to Duke's went to Duke This was inbetween bath time. So I- relief her to relieve Walker duties. I'm reading him because I figured with six seconds left in the game it looks over. They'd missed act and back and back these these easy lay ups and he thought they had a chance and they didn't so I wanted her to be able to to go downstairs. I come downstairs after reading going to bed book we read. Daniel Tiger goes to bed and Overtime let me let me say this. How did you NC lose the failure failure? Rebound oh Mike. It is possible for Duke to get the game into overtime. It's impossible and in overtime. It is impossible for two. Oh Oh they're down in the last thirty seconds in both situations six or seven though they cannot win the the only people the people banging their heads against the wall and then laughing North Carolina they go to Maryland because they know what Duke did to Maryland now in the last twenty seconds of a game and it wasn't it. This isn't a great duke team. It wasn't the duke was great. I will tell you the trae Jones was really really good. North Carolina couldn't get the ball inbounds so they could not could it. I'M NOT GONNA go chapter and verse in this because I don't remember it. I'm just going to tell you as Chris suggested it's not possible North Carolina to lose to get out a regulation without winning. It's not possible. For North Carolina's lose in overtime. He Jones does the thing that never works beyond like Fifth Grade Basketball Smack smash not only does he throw misses it on purpose but it somehow comes back to him. No no no no not not. Did you not hear the interview. Afterwards they practice afterwards. What he said was gone? Shyer who's a member of a national championship shooter. John Shire has him practice practice. This he has a move a couple of steps to the right and throw it like that off the rim where it rebounds everytime exactly right about Trade Jones Thorwald were but even then even then grabs it and dribbles it through three poeple instill makes a really difficult shot. He doesn't make the shot. The other Kino veterans regulation misses the foul shot. He's into the game. Oh He's a kid. He's the one kid last year who everyone thought might be able to go first round but he had a poor year and he came back and I don't know what he's going to be as a pro. There's a million guards from Duke and North Carolina and Kentucky a million guards the NBA and three quarters of a million of them aren't great like they were in college. They just aren't. Yeah because it's tougher and it's not A. He's not an elite shooter. which usually do these small but that game was spectacular? After after the game. She Chef Ski said and he was one hundred percent right. I understand. Carolina is in a down year but that was Carolina. Well they have they. They had colon anthony back. It's like his second and couldn't down the ball. He is a dynamic. Yes layers create shots for others without him. They have nothing. Yeah there's not I mean they're they're wreck day are as per cell. Says I guess what the record says they are but they're not ten and thirteen withheld lamp. That's ten and thirteen against Duke right or not. So there was that Roy afterwards and Roy Wary now in his late sixties of how social media can destroy your life in ten seconds. Destroy Your Life. If you pay attention to it started started saying we're not pansies and it went. ooh maybe maybe I can't use that word is at all I mean by that. Is there people who don't compete. And we compete and tried to talk his way around in and out of it and he probably probably did and at the end he said I'm not going to quit. I quit my team's not gonNA quit. WE'RE GONNA be out there practicing. That was really great. Watch devastating home loss for a season. 'cause over I understand but that's a that's one that you can say well. We were terrible this this year but we beat Duke. It's a it's a well you'd still have another chance at do a different dude at home. It's going to be hard a great time to get that on at six o'clock so he could see what happened in the eight o'clock. Yeah you can watch all of it. I mean it was really really. That was as good a watch as sports provides. It really was as great. The other thing for me was the was the golf tournament which I watched almost every shot of in a guy named Nick Taylor a Canadian who has won once before before on tour. This is his second win in one hundred and sixty starts. It's he went head to head with Phil Mickelson when everybody. I don't know about everybody but me. I certainly thought Phil Mickelson was GonNa Win Phil. Mickelson was minus three to six six or seven and was down shot on the day. The other key eagled. The other kid got in trouble a couple of times but won the tournament on the fifteenth hole when he chipped in which he did chipped in for Eagle Prior to that on two or three whatever hole that is phil probably lost Probably lost on eight and nine even when he was plus three Phyllis plus five after the seventh hole. It was not a great Phil. Mickelson performance notice really fun to watch. I thought it was really fun to watch. They were playing in big wind STROMAN got into second place film Mr Pot on eighteen which would have gotten him into the massive dig win the big finish for team Johnny L.. Because he's wearing the big logo Truman's wearing the big logo Taylor was was minus two on the day. Hey which is all you really have to be in. The wind was enormous. If you don't like golf I understand. That doesn't mean much but Michael. What did you think of Taylor? And what did you think Phil so this is people are going to be asking this week. Are we really watching the final phase. The Final Act of Phil Mickelson. He's tried to delay it with his entrance into social media with the fireside chats with the attention to his body trying to reshape what he might be able to do as he turns fifty years old. This summer this tournament meant a lot to him. He's one more more than a handful of times. He has connections to pebble gum five area because of his grandfather. That story has been widely circulated chatty a caddy and they did the commemorative silver dollar dollar giveaways to all the competitors. So this was when he really wanted an everything was lining up for me at tough conditions. He had what became a match-play situation and golf often. We have to look look at the three arcs of it. We have the opening six. We have the middle six and we have the final. Eighteen are the final six on this course you have to score early and the wind made it really hard. A lot of those holes. Were down and wind. You think that'd be easier for the end but for the pros it's harder to control the spin. Get the ball to end where you want it to end. He played super aggressive from the start. And got up ahead. But it is exactly what you said eight nine or two of the hardest holes on the PGA tour eight might be the most perfect par for golf in terms of where you have to play the top of the hill and and he gave up probably net overall hundred yards. detailer off the tee on those tools. He laid back and he saw a number nine. He played the wrong club. I think foued said he was at leased. One Club unless shots. This happened a lot. He was short. You saw phil. At the beginning of the week saying everything was about his mindset his visualization what he wanted wanted to see the ball do and really he was off the mark for the entire back-nine you then saw him miss club or miss shape shots in that fourteen. Fifteen stretch where he was sailing hole on twelve. He might have gone long by thirty or forty yards But Still Taylor led him in it after that double that he had on fourteen and and as soon as fill his bunker shot to about a foot and a half you think on on fifteen. Here's fills opening. He might be able to push something at the end and then the kidnappers then he nails it and now is the tournament and so it was fun for me to watch. What is particularly fun for me is this is the one tournament on the PGA tour where amador's play and they play off for days? Yes they can if you're if you make you make the cut and they have to show you on TV when you get to the final day on the weekends so people that like we don't know Chris O'Donnell Donald but he's John O'Donnell's brother. Yeah so you look at Chris. O'Donnell I wrote Johnny Owen. Note saying why are you on the bag and he said No. I'm not on the bag this time. Time Because he had done that before I think he'd caddied for his brother and took a shot at his brother's saying Christmas. The cut again trump slamming. You get you know if you're invited did once you're invited. Lot Larry Fitzgerald has now won this thing twice with Kevin Stroman.

"I don't get it. I think they're just not on the general. Not Good quarterback problem. Did you see I don't want to Belabor this did you see the player tracking overlay of that last play against Washington. Great so great is his. Yeah Kyle Allen like it just has the numbers and the like the player movements in Kyle just for. It's very obvious there's no pressure it's even more apparent that there is no pressure with the player tracking data and so it just looks like for no over reason whatsoever. He just turns and runs away off the picture because he runs so far backwards. While it's it's hilarious credible we should get back to the falcons. We're getting off topic. I've been to focus on his game. Shows what kind of game it is. Yeah pretty much. I honestly don't even WanNa watch it like the old theories I'm going to because I have to. I want to watch. It's different but yeah. Yeah I love the the Falcons Fan tweet me and this year. We'll just not. I'm like I spy John like I have to really think that I would spend I five hundred being paid. They went Yeah so a little fun fact just for all sorts of Charlotte and Atlanta Atlanta misery. The Hornets Charlotte Hornets. Play the Atlanta Hawks like an hour. After the end of the the Falcons Panther's game so just all of our bad teams can play each other third one day. Just get out of the way you know honestly what we should do just to make it fun the Panthers Foul Play Basketball and the talk and hornish cornish play football just probably in the same way. I don't care yeah but you and in touch flag whatever. That's fine but I think it would be more entertaining. Yeah I think that's a brilliant idea. It absolutely would be more entertaining. Yeah that would be amazing. Actually I would gladly tweet about the Hornets playing the Hawks for an inflexible. Yeah like a ball jeanine. We got a little bit off topic a little bit. I talked about the. We talked about the dolphins defense. Tell us a little bit of offense. I know devante Freeman appears to be back this week. yeah and the one thing devante. It should be out there I think the concern for the panthers and part of the reason the Falcons more trouble against the Austin Hooper. It should be back to that bettering. Those yeah good considering this team that he had. I think that that could be a concern to the panthers The Monte Freeman really has had the one good season the player that I like a lot. He's just not you know. I mean he's Christian. McCaffrey And so I don't think thanks. He's that big of a concern for the panthers and even though the defense has struggled this year Putting it why I think I could probably rush for one hundred yards on the panthers. DEVANTE is probably G- If you if you play daily fantasy start Devante Freeman. Actually I do and I'm like oh I know you do. I'm in general and Sal. Yes yeah I I'm not sure fully will be healthy. CBS play this week. He has got the shoulder injury. So we'll have a better idea about a week by Thursday depend on practice status. But you know there's completed by injury which is something that y'all player Wes And they have they've got dirt hunter coming play which is a real liability and so you know. They'll they'll do what they do. They will buy up the middle and I found a whole lot. Pampered will be ready for that and so I think that that should make Geico pat easier on day. We'll see about that. I mean I don't know how many healthy panthers defensive tackles. They have any more to the honest. Like Gotcha we were an injury away from putting offensive lineman defensive tackle last weekend like jokes. Gerald McCoy was playing hurt the entire game because of the remember loving Toilolo. Who so he he was like a string bean right like six eight gene and not like he did not weigh enough to fill out and there was one game against the Vikings where all of the offensive line? I got injured Tackle here like well. This is a long. Yeah I really wanted to see like Daryl Williams tried to play a defensive tackle or something though maybe that would have been it would just be the medium of Daryl Williams the only position the offensive line. He hasn't played a center yet. So might as well throw my defensive tackle Greg Van Roten was one of the backup centers so you know. We're not that far off their Williams playing center so yeah I can totally see him being being a defensive tackle. I mean he's already good at giving up sacks so maybe he can take that knowledge and transition to the interior rush on the on the defensive side. It would be hilarious. If he's like an all pro defensive tackle and we just don't know it. Yeah like he's John Randall. Or something and we elite. His talent always getting quarterbacks on the ground we just explain them on the wrong side of the ball to do it as far as the panthers offense goes. Dj More will probably be heavily involved again on Sunday. He's been on a bit of a tear over the last weeks. Jean I know you love that since he used to play for. LSU Sr Curtis Samuel actually had a decent game last tweaks despite Carolina's offense struggles in John. Where does a fool? I think he played for Michigan. Yeah Oh ah SAR Ohio.

"And Ronnie Ron Good Morning I'll try that again good morning guys eric is Johnny Johnny Z. I WANNA start this off by saying one thing publicly there's plenty of people that I like in this business and I love John absolutely love him he's one of my longest Friends and I I miss that he's not yes special special for me well that's that's very naive Ron I appreciate that and kill the same way it kept them still made Ayud kicked me out of our department that we're back on a years ago that was thirty five years ago thirty five years at least Hollywood part back when before the war we won't go into the reasons leads I'll tell you now you what have you done now now everybody's GonNa WanNa hear it's not repeatable off the air believe nobody's GonNa believe Johnny do something warrant it was amazing what was amazing is that they used to draw the race news and sit at Hollywood Park Valley Park I post was two pm so they would have the racist drawn at like nine thirty nine morning yeah everything be finished the race is still the books good we've done you know we're both jock agents and so we we got a place over there by alleyoop both lived on the other side of town near Arcadia Arcadian and and we'd have a place to go to kind of lay by the pool go have lunch and and then we go to the races obviously and then every once in a while you stay over one night or two nights a week you know to be out there in the morning but kicked me out yeah good reason really good reasons really reason and then amazingly amazingly this is how bell racing the White Working Amazingly we ended up sharing a place just a couple of years ago don't street when when I down there working at Gulfstream and Ryan ED place down there and he was kind enough to around the the the mutual we shared a place that it was because we're getting the band back together right yeah it was fun I guess the Michael Knol hydride I thought I thought when I was on earlier and you probably didn't know that I was on Mardi McKee was on Johnny and then John is e Yeah Dan tell are you what are you doing you know I feel like I'm missing out on the party here this is not a show up when he coming in again with when I'll be there when alerts of media it right don't get arrested are you bringing your girl okay yes they're coming it's not making the trip his company's gotTa Work Sleep is left the premises here so I guess supposed to carry on Well Yeah Yeah that's good morning McGee a little earlier and I told you over because they didn't want to you know do my thing while I was driving but pulled in the driveway in this woman comes up she's beeping behind me driveway so I pull up and it's like amount of quarter law or not quarter of a mile long and I'm going she can't I think she's behind me but then she was up in front of me she pulls up she says you know this is private property I call the cops on me yeah right Jim end up in the slammer again then Steve Steve dropped me like a bad habit though for uh one of his other cats out there because the weather's beautiful it's like the tracks GonNa be nice and fast I hope in the excitement starting to build plenty of people getting the town here draw today Hoping for some be some post positions as always I and I say this I kind of like your roster here they're pretty good rock yeah I definitely do I mean lucky enough I thought it was thirty one I guess it's thirty Breeders Cups we've been able to win Dan I would have to say that this lineup this year it's probably as good or better than any that I think I've ever had pending some locked in like tell everybody obviously if we can just win one of these things are doing pretty good I'm GonNa say engine my roster in two seconds here but I'm pretty proud of it at this point we'll see what happens Should I know I know uh-huh handicapping every time I turn around I see a key ally who's writing it was how lucky enough the visible ones are obviously Mackenzie Catalina cruiser only but racist turf sprint Eddie House calls been like Professional Racehorse specify on this course at this distance eight runs yeah yeah and you know my Breeders Cup filly confess air probably be the favorite or second choice and then the other three that I'm kind of excited about his Chris Philly Christopher John Kimmel has been running the last quarter of a mile in twenty twenty three Ish should should have decent chance wicked whisper comes off a huge win in the present and then I ended up on the horse it was second to Chad Brown in the juvenile turf race Adesina I guess as things name is he'd have to disturb that's so I could back into the phone booth did you did you mention only she only yes yes yes looney spectacular yeah she's amazing amazing chilly so we've got chances that's all we can hope for most of them yes I did I'm going to send it to you Steve like I said I said the John I've been lucky enough to be involved this were long time and I've had some really successful years but I'm I'm starting to think this this year lines up as well as as any of them as far as a roster going in and run you and I have talked about this so many different times at breeders cups and at triple brown events etc a about your current your turn jockey and it it seems this year has been different for him whether it's been a focus or mature th there's something that has been different and is that unfair to say probably true yeah you know part of you know you start winning like a tell Nancy I've got people calling that I haven't heard from I've got you know trainers and owners want him that want us it's very simple as it's all of it doesn't matter anything but winning you win this trainer Jockey your phone's GonNa ring if you don't win they're looking for the guys that have one so it's kind of built kind of tour crescendo here I guess you would say where I have a lot of people that are in it's much easier to do this job when they're knocking on your door and you don't have to knock on their door like John and I when we first started out and you're begging people please visit the Chaffetz can you throw me in anything live anything has a chance so now we don't have to do a lotta begging and you know you're lucky enough to be positioned when Bob's GonNa make a change on a horse like Mackenzie for the classic you're you're in the mix and then all of a sudden you get the you get the word that you're you're the one in you know it's pretty exciting it makes it easy to get up in the morning like I said I did I caught the tail end into how did he work how did how did he go great it sounds like he's been handling track well he's going to be obviously forwardly placed and I'm pretty excited about the worst she's got a lot of ws next name he's a good horse he's a really good horse so johnny I interrupted you there for a second I was just GonNa come round with talk about you know being in ages now when you're when you're winning in your phone's ringing instead of you calling everyone else and begging it's funny because and I think Ronald back me up on this when you first start out as young young ages the riders you have not the not the top lighter certainly and you're breaking you're you're learning the ropes should breaking into the game and at that time no you believe that your jockey is as good as any jockey out there I mean you Kinda you Kinda should believe that anyway 'cause you're representing them but over the years I think you kinda come to realize that some guys do this a little bit better the other guys do and some guys it's just more talented and And over the years Ron Ron a sampling of both let me and and we've both gone through times when we've had the low guy on the totem pole and then Ron Certainly as moved forward and had a collection of hall of Famers but it's a big difference is that a world of difference when we first started out stew Sir we'd we'd plug along plug along ship your Jock I we're in southern California ship Golden Gate or Bay Meadows for steak to try and get a child struggle it a little Adele Mara were counting the days to get to the smaller meet at the Pomona Pomona we would we would rack up generally and AH make a couple three weeks a nice checks and that would kind of carry us over the struggle from day to day in the game week to week and meet to meet back in the originally you know the old days it was it wasn't easy it was that easy at all it's a high wire risk yes it's gotta be it's gotta I'm like Ron here with no shirt on his by listen. I didn't know I love the hoods. I didn't know how dangerous Chicago in nineteen I was naive to everything right. I just wanted to go to the hood so I wasn't Robert Tiller you know and by was on there just like one of the vibe live and just chill. You know you wanted to feel the yeah man when I was there you know is thirty nine for a couple of people on the Nan you hear me. That's the nine hi my family was sell out of crack right. Now you know we realized that it's like it's senseless and we realized that you really in this together. A couple of things also Ashikaga that concerns me like the compassion people's babies are dying but the main problem is like you got to want to change inch definitely shot you know so I have so much connection with shots because our played they're my favorite team. Growing up the Bulls and then the seat of valance a Chicago is just crazy crazy. I spoke to one Kim chinatowns industry. Hi Yo doing over the man you uh get it together out there. He's he's from the shock and he's like Yo. You know this is this is the life I was like. Wow and that's where people don't understand like you know people from the Shah people from Chicago to a lot you through more knowing Chicago's going through the roughest eh for rockaway in Queens New York. A couple of people were really not not publicized when you come from the shots tough. It's really tough to make Chicago Chicago. You know what I'm saying. That's why I know a lot about Ya and people when they're going through the same stuff..

"Life. Get a chance to meet someone. You've long admired from a distance. I'm getting that opportunity. <hes> that blessing today <hes> we're in flint hill virginia to in suburban virginia will all kind of outside well outside of the washington dc metropolitan area. We're in the library of a man named ron maxwell who wrote wrote and directed one of my all time favorite movies movie called gettysburg he's written and directed other movies gods and generals copperhead but for me and for millions of americans and <hes> gettysburg is and will always be seminal work. The gettysburg is as the title certain certainly suggests about what i would argue and contend and are the three most important days in american history the hinge of history for our entire country all that was at stake in the civil war war in my opinion came to a crescendo those three days in pennsylvania had the outcome been different. Our country would have been different. It had a sense of duty honor. Courage valor been distributed differently. Our country would have been different and ron maxwell and everyone associated associated with that motion picture did that heroic work preserving for our country and for all time movie rendering of these three three crucial days in american history ron. I can't tell you what an honor it is for me to be in your presence to be hearing to begin this conversation. Thank you thank you so much appreciate that. I've seen the movie at least fifty times. I have a ritual <hes> that my children know well. Everyone who knows to be closely knows well. I watched this movie. Every fourth of july right around the fourth of july. It's a good four and a half hours. It's worth every moment of it but i- revisit that because revisiting it is to understand for me <music> at least what america's about how america was one thing before the civil war and a different thing after that and it wasn't argument among among americans about what the country would no longer be and what its future could be and so much of that is encapsulated in in the movie so i've spoken way too much ron. I just want want to give you a chance to talk about the movie what it means to you and what you hope it will always mean for this country. I read my michael showers book. In nineteen seventy eight it had been published in seventy four the killer angels one appeal at surprise killer angels <hes>. It's a work of fiction even though it was well researched. It's a work fiction and won the pulitzer prize for fiction in seventy five. I read it in seventy eight and i was immediately gripped. I didn't know how profoundly i was gripped repton. I didn't know that it would start a fifteen year saga for me but <hes> within months of reading the book option that met michael michael shower the author. We became wonderful. Friends and thereafter started working on the screenplay in by <hes> eighty. I had a screenplay and from that point on was trying to get the movie financed. I wanna play for you and pick up your headphone. You can listen to yourself on this. I want to play sound bite number one <hes> <hes> which talks about the book and the effect it had on you. This is from a documentary called making gettysburg grabbed me on a <hes> and the sub-conscious place. I <hes> the way the way a fine piece of music and grab. You and you don't know why but you're captivated by. I'm fascinated by the use of your term subconscious because shelby foot one of the great american chroniclers of the civil war in narrative form said the civil war lives in our subconscious forever..

"And we're featuring my interview with Ron Howard. What does Ron how it has to do with Stein? He actually directed the first season of national geographics genius series. And if you're gonna start a series about the world's geniuses who better to do it with then Einstein, and I bumped into Ron Howard at south by southwest and Austin, Texas and nabbed some quality time in conversation with him about that project to talk about ice. Then I know the man, I know his work, but I don't know him as well as my friend and colleague, John eleven Janna. Welcome back to star talk. Yeah. So Jenner you are professor astrophysics at Barnard college and Columbia University and your theorist yet, and you care about complicated cosmic stuff. Yeah. What the space time continuum is doing everything I think about has something to do a space time. Excellent. So do all of us. Mike going for lunch. Example. Let's get a Cup of coffee where letter so. Yeah, we all think about space time whether or not we know it. Yeah. So thanks for your offer commentary on some of what comes out in in this interview. And we've got Harrison we mount Harrison, welcome back. Thank you. Excellent. He only has a connection to Einstein because my great grandmother's brother, Louis Louis. Enter was part of the the group that helped get him out of Germany to New York. So we have like a letter in the family family of gratitude for mind sign for helping. Well, you should ensure that his letter about religion sold for something like two million dollars recently in a few months. A couple of phone calls to make so so welcome back. Yeah. And what's your wearing a shirt with recognize the quote that the universe is under no obligation to make sense to you who who said. So you wear that on my show. I think quote by him. No, thanks. We're in the shirt. What am I more important quotes out there? Happy to spread the love of this day. But they sure it's apropos to this topic. Because so much of Einstein's work doesn't make sense to anybody. It makes sense on paper, maybe physicist who who studied it. But to the rest of everyone what the hell was he saying, so hence, the universe is under no obligation to make sense. So and just to be clear, so you're you're comedian Atta magician after that doesn't make sense to my parents. So. So so I have to have to play the obnoxious. So does that. So so is that why you're not married? Exactly. I married a musician. And we said, okay, maybe we should just tell my parents your magician. And then when you find your musicians if you so happy. Before the truth and be happy. The greater of the lower truths. Right. Exactly. Sending Marshall j Marshall joke where he talked about you. I want to grow up and be a magician. Like, you can't do both. Good. Good. Good and you're tweeting Harrison comedy. Yeah. And Jenner tweeting gentleman. Yeah. Good got your you. Don't have to say the real version of you. So why don't we go to our first clip? I clip of me in conversation with Ron Howard. We all know who Ron Howard was he's Opie from from what's that show? Gripper show, and he's a life in Hollywood. And he was in the original musical the music man as the the the kid with a lisp who sang about Gary, Indiana, the NFL. That in the middle school seems to. So let's check out my interview with Ron Howard talking about Einstein. You're handed a project of arguably the most important human being in the twentieth century. Well, and now you put now you hell, how did you where did your destiny? I got this. I heard. I'm listening. Well, I've read movie scripts about Einstein and periods of Einstein's life before. And I never felt that they were that that was the right platform for it was the right outlet for always too limiting. And when this script came from a company called od lot writer named Noah pink did a first pilot..

"He's been a very popular fixture of this show for a very long time. He's the only real big fight. We had it ESPN at the beginning before we're accepted was because Ron McGill was on an executive thought he shouldn't be and since then sports center uses Ron McGill all the time. So thank you. If you wanna talk to Ron McGill, the telephone number Chuck, you're on with Ron McGill. Go ahead. Hey, Ron I was working outside. And I was about seven feet away from a skunk. And it had its tail and backside Stastny, but thankfully, it didn't spray me. I was just wondering does a skunk have to reply replenishes spray or do some Scots not spray because he had any debts rights and faithfully. He didn't spray me. But why did he spray me thing? Well, he didn't Versi if you weren't you weren't you weren't close enough. They probably they have a level of warnings that they give all animals have different levels of warnings. The first warning would be raising his tail the second warning would be backing up to you. The third warning would be kind almost standing up almost on its front legs. We're actually axes hind legs go up, and if you're still there, and you haven't retreated or you're getting closer. That's when he'll spray, but you know, the spray itself is actually like a saliva. It's it's constantly replenished excess. He can use it all up. I doubt he used it. But he does consider it a precious resource. So he's not gonna use it unless he's really really feeling terribly threatened. So you. Got lucky because I have been sprayed by stunk a skunk. I can tell you how to throw out the clothes nothing. You can do to wash them is gonna smell go away. And I literally had to wait for the skin to die off. Because after I scrubbed myself with beta dine hydrogen peroxide and everything.

"But you've talked about, you said your overwrought, emotional, emotional state was starting to wear on you. I said this Ron, I've never hated anybody. I hate him. I know I shouldn't process Trump's tresses like personal stress, but I do if if you care about your country, you're like, oh, my God. This is just constantly terrifying and horrifying every day, isn't it? Well, yes, it is those things, but it's so much more. And how long do we have? It's going gonna get darker as long as my God forever. What did I say? How long have I been? Oh my God. How many times have I texted you? How long have I been trying to get you to what? What? What? What it is, what it is, what it will be, what is what it was? Yes, excuse for you know, the seventy five percent of us. That's right. You have a sense of you. No decency what? What? What? What's worth living for beautiful things in this beautiful world that are not that I not given that a gifts not should not be taken for granted needs to be cherished and Ford for that. A guy like that rising to a position like that is simply unprocessed. Yeah, it's on. It's unacceptable on his no level upon which it's not acceptable and yet. There's an entire subset. Miscreants who are? Yeah, enabled aren't too. Tell us that this is okay and normal and that we have a problem if we don't see it that way. So this is the ultimate, you know, ask, fuck. Shit, fuck shrimp there. The aforementioned people that that I don't offend when I say that, but you know, it's on a good way. You know, it's not a good Ashfaq man, I would, but lube and you're pretty. I think of Trump, I don't think of as being a good lover, but what has been. Listen, Trump's dump is a fucking punk. Punks come and go. We've seen. I've never been so sexually aroused by happy. Are we've seen punks like this all through the history world? Yeah, maybe not quite like this, and we've never seen them rose to a position in our own. Sacred republican. You have and you and you say it in that voice. I, I only you if there was any film you would play like Morgan Freeman would be a somewhere, not God underneath you, you God Morgan, you're. Apprentice be needed to pray to somebody. Yeah, that's right. I'm well my point. I try not to use that power. Well, Morgan frivolously. Yes. I try to use the word for the innocence every tequila day. There is no frivolously just just just another. Bucket list item. I'll checked off of it that you're gonna say manic Monday. Okay, Ron? Yes, here's my point is this is what you were alluding to about trumping cardboard cutout piece of shit. Fuck is that we had rob Reiner right in verse happy, horror that went free here and I say this every day, right? But you can't. None of you could pitch this or make this film. This is hot fucking happening. This is you can't. You cannot even have imagined this completely unqualified reality show clown getting installed by hostile government with his fingers on the nuclear button who's clearly completely saying. I mean, this is right. I mean, that was your point. Someone asked you. They asked you if you him and you said, fuck no, not interested into one dimensional people have no redeeming value and nothing is psychologically compelling. I played serial killers in real bad guys and there's always some sort of psychological gap there Trump doesn't possess any of them. He's just a cardboard cutout piece of shit. Bach. There's nothing there to explore. He's one dimensional. He's not clever. He'd be very boring to play. When I was asked, would you would you like to play Trump as an actor fry, which is what I do during the day? Yes, I am tweets. But you said I will..

"You're on with Ron McGill. Go ahead. Hey, Ron. I was wondering if you has experienced successful idea treatments with any animals think you. I personally have not, but I know it's being done in various veterinary sectors throughout the country. Several zoological parks doing it. I myself have not done it. Run three year old male Jaguar gets loosen in New Orleans. Do goes on a rampage hunts and kills several smaller animals, including foxes. Is that the least bit common in zoos and has it ever happened in Miami? It's certainly not common zoos. It's not happening Miami where we've had a predator get out and predate some of the atoms in the collection, but it is something that it's not the first time it's happened. I'll leave it at that. Something that I think people need to understand that those animals were killed in that was tragic. The public was never in danger that animal never came out of containment. Zoos, go through various levels of containment for animals so that I'm gonna get out of its enclosure was had access to other animals enclosures, but never got out to the public Jason. You're on with Ron, McGill zoo, Miami, go ahead. Go ahead, Jason. Mike, you're on with Ron McGill. Go ahead Mike. Ron. If an ostrich jumped off a cliff could at least sore and survive or glide. Also many cultures eat us. Thanks. A lot of cultures eat Astra's including our culture. There are actually ostrich farms in Texas than it was, you know, promoted as the new red meat, the healthy red meat for the longest time until they realize it costs a lot to maintain these ostriches. It was actually cheaper to maintain cattle to your first question of ASTA himself a building. It's going to die really quickly. It's not going to store it all. It's going to hit the road like a big pizza. They have no wings at all. Really just little feathers like little feather duster on them. So the landing they're going to stick the landing like big Pete, Rhode pizza. That's no, no, no. Gliding all Carlos. You're on with Ron McGill of zoo, Miami. Go ahead. Although run, I recently saw an animal call Sherry screaming. Why did the scream? And if it's a dissect takes power that of the tactic well acted because it is startling and that's something you'll see in a lot of different animals. Animals will scream, they'll bark. They'll make a weird noise very loud and very spontaneous. And that's it. Startles whatever is preying on them and might not necessarily scare them away. But at the moment that they're startled, it gives the animal this being predated on an instant to get away. It gives them an exit strategy and they sometimes can take advantage of it. But that scream isn't fact that's the reason to start them. Stu help me out here because we're doing a radio show. You're being paid to radio show yet haunting at the television because there's a met on it to distract everyone in the studio. Like what the bleep are you doing? "No way you're going in the case of in the case of rogue one it felt to me that there was a lot more state that there was a lot more to be lost there was a lot more chance for it to break out and do something darker and to be that kind of wool movie although as i said man i know that wrote one at a troubled production history as well but i did fail whilst watching those doesn't comparisons kind of made sense i in the case of this that whilst it was on it was fine zipped around quite pleasantly pulled vetting these apps that you've seen stating and actually from the ron howard points of view the ron howard pull bet in the axis which is the because obviously run pulled that many times before and there's a story that pull he takes him and so i wonder whether you've ever found yourself sitting in a room wondering why you've never been in a was movie any suggestions and ron howard parenting sending by message hang on a couple of days and it goes well and bet knees brilliant he is absolutely brilliant because he's as you know he's one of my favorite actors and he gets the chance to play fiendish nece he gets the chance to play a character who he's described as somebody who is very good at inflicting pain and likes doing what he's good at so you about it's just saying he gets more opportunity to to show what he can do he does immobile yes exactly little bit limited in feeble yeah exactly and i did really fail that he brought a kind of gangs to respond to those scenes that character started off being a completely different character actually once they saw during the re shoots and that he comes in so i mean again the the amount of rejigging of the world of that film does seem to be pretty substantial and i really enjoy the pullback and he stuff as far as all the you know the speed and the and the action sequences and essentially it's it's it's.
