"You'd have your son overseas where there's a ton of pro jobs and a ton of pro opportunities. I'm sure david beckham has no connects in europe. So this could do right. I mean is it really problematic for inter miami beyond that now now based on what. They already had go bad for them. I mean this is just a little cherry cherry on the top. Is there no chance for a beautiful father-son redemption story here. You don't think romeo could play his way up from fort lauderdale to inner miami hook. Are you already writing to solve. I would love nothing. More to see romeo beckham triumph at fort lauderdale and move his way up the ladder to miami and get get giddy wayne off the nine and see if he can do it there. I would love to notice that happened. Yes yeah what do you grow. Oh beckham in the good for the good the bad and the ugly will be quite turn plenty of european qualifying action coming up this week on. Espn speaking we got france and finland. That's tuesday at two forty five. Pm eastern time game you can watch on espn two and also streaming live on the espn app. Jesse march manager of rb. Leipzig joins us here on super america's costa sovereignty obvious. Getting you in an international break. I wanted you love. The international break is a club coach. You hate it. I like it you know i mean. There's a lot of coaches here in europe. Who don't like international breaks because they feel like they're players are going to get injured or you know it's tough to control what the what they're doing when you're not here but you know i think it's really important for them to have the international football experience and then it gives us a little bit of a pause here to kind of reanalyze where we're at with different things and sorta regroup before we get back into the hectic schedule once again. You mentioned that hectic schedule. I wanna get into the champions league. Draw all that stuff the transfer window but we got some time with you so maybe we can go back to start not necessarily of your coaching career plan career. Because i'm i'm very curious. How a young man who grew up in racine or started growing up in racine wisconsin that makes a living in professional soccer. Like what's that half for you before. The rest of the world starts to get to know jesse mark. I mean it's an interesting path. That that i think had a lot of lock in fortune and i met good people along the way so i mean i had good coaches when i was in wisconsin but then i was fortunate enough to play for bob bradley at university. I had good timing that right when i graduated from university started. Mls and so. I was in the first draft. And i played for bruce arena and bob bradley in dc united arguably the two best co american coaches ever and they introduced me into what professional football is and was and then i had a long career where i played with a lot of really good players played in europe at played at high levels at played in world cups and they were incredible role models for me and i kind of used all of those experiences to put together an idea of what i thought. I should be as a football coach so in the end i think it provided me foundation with what i think. Professional football is and then and then i was able to kind of create my own philosophies of football of style of play of leadership all those things from from from all my experiences combined. We hear a lot about coaching trees. I think like when people talk about the national football league in the nfl. Obviously when i look at your plant career It's undeniable almost wherever bob bradley went. You kinda seem to follow up with him specifically like why did that relationship works so well. And what impact did he have on on usa coach. You haven't had a big impact on me as a player and as a coach. I think we vibe early on because we were both like very strong competitors and we hated to lose and we'd like training we liked working. You know so that kind of work ethic and desire to be successful as what brought us really together. Yeah and then you know over the years. I think there's there's a lot of similarities between us and there's a lot of differences but certainly my ability to appreciate his journey his path. What he's achieved. What he's been about how i've learned things from him from his experiences has been very beneficial to me. Are there differences between you and bob. Bradley bruce rena those guys that you kind of work with early in your career and kind of where you are at now coach. Well i think. You know. Bruce bob and i are all incredibly different. People's view had us in a room. I think you'd have three very different energies right about amongst us and i think you what the key for each one of us is kind of understanding what we're good at and what what things we'd like in players and teams and then our ability to put to practice and so i think that's key as a coach is just knowing who you are and and knowing how you want to communicate and what kind of environments you wanna have. I'm being true to that. So i've i've learned that a lot. Now i've learned in different countries with different languages different cultures. And so you know that's always the challenge is how do you. How do you adapt and grow and continue to get better. The first stop on your coaching careers montreal. And it's not by any means unsuccessful. Right you have a good season there but don't continue when you look back at that time it was kind of the biggest takeaway from the montreal experience because it seems like since. Then you've always found the rights for jesse marsh. I'm really thankful. I four that experience in montreal. It was very difficult. Expansion teams are very difficult. I watched josh wolff. And i know him well. What he's going through right now in austin and he has a lot of really good things around him and he's going to continue to develop and do a good job there and austin. It's such an incredibly difficult situation..

It's one after the other for inter miami. This is this man's personal playground. It's not a good look. Yeah and it's definitely not the way you would start a professional soccer career right. Like david beckham with all of his access and connections if he was trying to launch his son soccer career. He wouldn't do it at fort lauderdale. The seems like something that they want to do as a family. And they're going to do because they have the access to it but if you wanted to really launch a true professional soccer career would you do it in in a major league soccer. Ussl beat one. "I just have to surrender. To and let go and that sense of fulfillment. How do i feel fulfilled. Now can i find meaning define meaning. Everything happens for a reason we make up afterwards and it's the week we make up afterwards parts. Important purpose I think there's a crisis meeting right now. Particularly with with younger generations particularly younger generations boys because of the messaging. That's being that's being put out that because of our educational system that doesn't have boy centric books. Boys need their imaginations to be sparked reduced recess. Time boys needs to be and play. I mean good grief. I think back to my school is if i wasn't able to go out and play. I in a terrible state was supposed to send them. Frenetic kinetic frenetic energy of boys is just bubbling. Sit still returned to calm down. That's the last thing we should tell someone who's feeling anxious or upset and this notion that everyone gets a trophy. Everyone's a winner. I'm reminded of when i first coached. My my oldest boy was five at the time. Aol so soccer and romeo beckham. David beckham some was on the team as well. And at the time day was the captain of england and romeo went down in a tackle and they're five years old and it was this very very bizarre coaching a soccer of forty in america. After tell you because of you know random. Pointless yelling from the sidelines from parents died at the speech by the way if it was me yelling from the sidelines i guarantee me anyways proceed. Well i get it. I get the enthusiasm. But what i when i spoke to my parents and the parents were the kids'll coaching at the start. The season every season was look. The kids are just going to him mindless screaming. So you know just simmer it down. Maybe maybe if there's a goal or something to cheer or poor the ba- great to hear that russia of excitement over vocal excitement. Then and you know it's okay to clap. If the other team or another player on the other team or anyone has a does a great move or scores a great goal but just one droning monotonous joy. It's kind of pointless. I forget the backup. So he goes down and most of the parents will a. Oh gosh the that usual. I think moms have more than dads as well. It's the nurturing of the mother and the matriarch compared to the risk reward of the patriarch. If i'm allowed to even use the word patriarch these out here. You're allowed here. And and and i looked at david is that and david just turned to me when ezer what it'll run it off and the game continued and sure enough. Romi was on the floor. The kind of stroke and then he got looked to the sidelines tag. Gave menard light. Your son kinda look and on with the game you went and that's the school of hard knocks and we don't. We don't seem to be nurturing that these days particularly in in schools in our educational system. And and i worry about a younger generations of boys because of that. That's not to say that you know. I want everyone to experience what had at school. Which was i got. I got three attack three times on my first. They are high. School was a sucker punch from behind as well so it was a real love. you know. Baptism of fire is survival. In a very physical way but in a way kind of taught me you know. I had to learn quick the school of hard knocks. And when you get out there and the big bad world. It's it's not all safe spaces and feeling realms and everyone wins a trophy you go away and it and they'll be disappointments suffering and hard knocks many of them and how you respond to that. I think is vital men. Let me hit the pause button..
