"Goodness kindness meekness humility. All those wonderful things you have self control you got it just because you don't use it doesn't mean you don't have it so you can just stop sam. I don't have any control. yes you do. Why don't you just tell the truth. I have lots of self control. I just don't use it. And so you have joy but satan throws stones of jealousy in stones envy and stones of worry big boulders of guilt all kinds of things down in our well until all the good things in there are blocked up so maybe instead of praying for all this stuff. We've already got. We need to start asking god to show us what's blocking them and with his help. Start removing them. One by one one of the things that david did when he became the cain was he unstopped. The whales and i think today can be day of unstop ing wells alleluia. All right as a man thinks in his heart so is in proverbs. Twenty three seven very powerful scripture as a man thinks in his heart. So is he if we think about problems and sad things negative things. It adversly affects the release of our joy. But i'll tell you something that does release joy and that's hope hope is such a powerful word and is not hope like the world thinks about hope. Well i hope. I'm good happens but i don't know. No hope is an aggressive expectation. That something good is about to happen to me at any moment. Hope is about your expectations. So let me ask him. What are you expecting from life. What are you expecting today. We have a piece of property for sale that we've been trying to sell for a while and somebody's looking at this afternoon at one fifteen and i am expecting that to sell a man. You can just expect with me. That i'll get a good phone call today and say it's sold many people don't expect anything. They dislike. well we'll see who knows we'll see. Are they actually go to the worst extreme and expect bad things to happen and i used to be like that. I'd had so many bad things happen to me in my life that i had a bad case of what the bible calls evil forebodings always had like this feeling in my atmosphere. What's the next terrible thing that's going to happen in my life and sometimes we've had so many bad things happen that you're afraid to hope because you don't want to be disappointed again but hope is necessary even for faith a lot of people are trying to have faced but they don't have hope so just for the sake of making it really simple less. Just say that hopelessness is a negative attitude. That nothing good is ever going to happen to me. But hope isn't aggressively positive. Attitude that says. I believe god is working in my life and i am expecting something good to happen to me today. So you want you want to get rid of all stones of hopelessness romans. "We need to think through what church is all about. It isn't just doing the media thing like many churches have it is relationships. It is sacrifice one person for another so that we are able to get through these difficulties. The other thing is and this is to your point directly we need to rethink the whole business of persecution. The average american christian thinks this. If the church were all that it should be we would be able to continue to coast along with our wealth and with our pursuit of riches and sail through life and live the good american dream without any opposition. That has not been the experience of christians throughout history. And so we're going to have to go back and rethink the whole business of what it means to live for christ and take. The consequences wasn't at bonn offer. Who said you know this idea of taking the cross into the world sounds very wonderful until you realize where the cross took jesus namely to golgotha. Yeah so we're going to have to think through what faithfulness to christ means and people are always asking me. What does that mean and my answer. Jim and you may agree or disagree is always this. It depends on who you are. The mother who is at home there with her children faithfulness. To christ means one thing the businessman faithfulness to christ for him means something else. It means that he cannot go along with some company policies. Oftentimes the teacher in the school. I had a teacher asked me this. He said you know. I'm in the school and we have a boy who was born. A boy and his name was birthed. Now he comes to school and he wants to be known as bertha and then he said the principal told me that when parents come for their parent teacher meeting. We cannot tell his parents that when he comes to school. he's a girl. That's a line in the sand He said. I cannot live with that kind of deception. What is my point when you ask what to jesus christ means. Every person has to answer that question differently but answer it. We must well. I think luther this is you know a good place to land. And i want to cover a couple of things really quick One is those illustrations are happening every day. And the church may or may not be aware of it right now whether it's The florist up in seattle the baker just up here in denver The teacher that so closely describes what you're talking about the the coach and teacher who drew a line in the sand on gender identity. Now he's been fired It is happening. And i wanna read romans five because i think the word of god is what is paramount. Right and get your response to this in romans. Five one through five it says therefore since we have been justified by faith we have peace with god through our lord. Jesus christ through him. We have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand and we rejoice in hope of the glory of god..

"In in my life. I would say the two things that have brought me out of faith crisis and i may face some brewery dark waters again very soon. I don't know. But i do know that i have have grown to a different point way of relating to the darkness in my life And there's something powerful that happens when we begin to spin the romans five three through five cycle says that tribulation works patients and patients were experienced and experience. Hope because our hearts are filled. With god's love when we when we are willing to hang in there so to speak and persevere and keep trusting and believing in god's love and goodness through the dark that's the only way to get to that point for then we can look back and say ha. I know last time that god brought me through this that it worked out for good and so this next time i know god can do that and and then we are we are we. We experienced stability. We're not ashamed and says in king james We have confidence in rest minivan because we know that god's going to take care of us through them and And i and i would say those two things becoming a child. And i don't have this doesn't have to make sense. I don't have to understand why this happened One thing that that contributed to a lot of confusion in my life was some very bad concepts. About god's will so i wipe out that god led me. I thought there were signs and things like that that this was supposed to happen. And that's a a big topic for another another time But not having to understand why things happen necessarily but learning to trust god and make the choice to trust and faith to me is when i decide this. What's real and then. Of course. I act on that and many times. This has been some grueling. Some some appalling type christian and appalling type battles of just sometimes just screaming at the darkness off and on the road for some reason and yelling..

We are saved through the sanctifying work of the spirit and that is not the work of a lifetime. It's the work of a moment as we are converted and made righteous now we will grow and mature immaturity is not sin. Rebellion voluntary rebellion against god is sin. That's what the bible define sin as in the book of i john. He called you to this through our gospel that you might share in the glory of our lord. "July eight saving. Faith loves forgiveness. Be kind to one another tenderhearted forgiving one. Another as god in christ forgave you. If asians four thirty two saving faith is not merely believing that you are forgiven. Saving faith looks at the horror of sin and then looks at the holiness of god and apprehend spiritually that. God's forgiveness is unspeakably glorious beautiful. We don't just receive it. We admire it. We are satisfied with our new friendship with such a great forgiving god. Faith in god's forgiveness does not merely mean a persuasion. That i am off the hook. It means savoring the truth that a forgiving god is the most precious reality in the universe. Saving faith cherishes being forgiven by god and there rises to cherishing the god who forgives and all that he is for us in jesus. This experience has a tremendous effect on are becoming for giving people the great act of purchasing. Our forgiveness is passed. The cross of christ by this backward. Look we learned the grace in which we will ever stand romans five to. We learned that we are now and always will be loved and accepted. We learn that the living god is a forgiving god but the great act of experiencing our forgiveness goes on forever into the future our joyful fellowship with the great god who forgives lasts forever therefore freedom for forgiveness flowing from this all satisfying fellowship with the forgiving god. Last as long as we do. I have learned that it is possible to go on holding a grudge. If your face simply means you have looked back to the cross and concluded that you are off the hook. That's why i have been forced to go deeper into what true face is not just a relief that i am off the hook but also a profound satisfaction with all that god is for me in jesus. This faith looks back not merely to discover that we are off the hook but also to see and the kind of god who offers us a future of endless reconciled tomorrow's in phila- ship with him satisfied fellowship with such a forgiving. "Click on the contact tab and leave us the same information name, address and type. SOM study in the message box. It's yours for the asking. Now let's go back to Jeff. Dear friends. Let's talk about the Gospel of Christ. The salvation of God, through the Gospel of Christ tells us that the gospel of Christ gives one a police were in to stand. Listen to the boldness of Paul again from Romans, one in verse 16. For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ. There is that great measure of boldness and strength that the gospel grants us. One stands in the Gospel when one is obedient to the Gospel. Listen to first Corinthians 15 Verses one and two when poll is riding to the church there at core rent those who are saved, although they have a variety of issues in problems, of which he has addressed within the book. He reminds them. Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the Gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand by which also you are saved. If you hold fast, that word which I preached to you. Unless you believed in vain. Now, let's look at these verses a little closer. First of all, Paul is once again declaring the gospel unto them, and he reminds them that he preach that gospel unto them. And they had received it. The Gospel. They were standing within it because they were saved by their obedience. We know this from acts, the 18th chapter and specifically verse eight of those who believed and were baptized there in the city, of course, rent. And now that would well, let's back up for a moment to their to that moment when they believed and they were baptized. They were responding to great commission preaching. From Mark 16 15 and 16 and Matthew 28, John 20 and Luke 24. The apostles were taking the Great Commission to carry forward the gospel into all the world and the book of acts or a book of acts Shun if you will allowed us to see what happens or allows us to see what happens when the gospel is obeyed. Now back to these brethren in coal rant in first Corinthians 15 1 into That Paul declared into them the gospel which makes sense we find earlier in the book that he takes them back to the Cross of Christ. He takes them back to a united message so he can address their division among them. They are standing in that gospel becomes that gospel save them. Then Paul says, in verse to the letter part if you hold fast or hold tight to the word which I preached to you unless you believed in vain. I love to look at verses one into a first Corinthians 15. There's so much meat their gospel, which is preached a gospel that is received a gospel that saves in a gospel that allows individuals where to stand. In Romans five and Verse two, Paul says, by whom also we have access by faith into this grace, wherein we stand and rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. The brethren at Rome understood where they could stand within the gospel message. Dear friends where God provides. It's where the obedient must stand God's provision we need to address and hold on to them. What saves us will keep us saved. If we are obedient in our salvation, then we are obedient in our stand. It is where and the righteousness of God is revealed the gospel and we think about standing in the boldness and where to stand. I think of other texts that tell us First Corinthians two in verse five that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. So we were able to stand within the power of God and to rely upon him Dear friends when we became obedient to the gospel through simple, trusting faith. Heart that repented of sins. We confessed Christ as the son of God, and we were baptized into Christ were raised to walk in the newness of life, according to Roman 63 through six and we begin a faithful walk. We are now a new creation in Christ. Old things have passed away and all things become new. Second Corinthians 5 17. We were able to continually stand in that power of God. The power of God through the Gospel. What a beautiful thought. I like that word power. It comes from a word in the original language that written in the common Greek language that we get the English word dynamite. It's a Greek word do no mice So you can see where we would get the English word Dynamite. It is powerful, which means it will explode Sin but rebuilds the life for God. How about another standing firm Passage first Corinthians 16 13. He told them to stand fast in the faith Now, dear friends, I find it interesting that we're looking at these text from first Corinthians. Stand in the gospel stand in the power of God stand in the faith. They all reflect the same. But yet they're able to stand in one gospel. One power of God and one faith. We know of the one faith from Ephesians 44 through six. And so when they see they can stand in one thing, and they all come together on that one thing will that not break down the divisions. That exist. Let's be very honest. Dear friends. We look throughout the religious world today. No wonder the world fails to take the gospel seriously as they should. There's so much division in the religious world churches with different names, worship assemblies that vary that we all say we're offering worship under God. Sometimes we say, Well, you just pick the church of your choice, but the Bible doesn't tell us that dear friends. Also, the Bible doesn't tell us that you can believe your way and I can't believe my way and will be fine. Well, Jesus never taught that neither did Paul. Neither did Peter and we see that all throughout the Bible if we are able to cast aside the manmade teachings, the manmade names and doctrines And come back and stand within the gospel, the power of God and in the thieve and to do things God's way would that not make a greater greater impact in this world? We're taught to stand against took the wiles of the devil. You see, the devil can come after us in so many ways in Ephesians six, beginning with verse, 10 Paul writes. Finally, my brethren. Be strong in the Lord and the power of his might put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil for we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against Principalities against powers. Against the rulers of the darkness of this age against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places, therefore take up the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day and having done all To stand. The Christian is to carry that whole armor of God to protect him or her from battle or in battle and were able to have a place to stand. The salvation of God is through the Gospel of Christ, and it gives one a place where into stand that God provides the very best for us. Number two. The Gospel of Christ gives us a power source on which to rely now. We mentioned this just a second ago but will elaborate a little bit more at this point. Let's notice back to Romans. 1 16, for it is the power of God and to salvation again. The word power is from a word in that original language, do no mice. And that is spelled. Do you in a m? I s do minimize where we get the English word Dynamite. And again it is powerful and it makes a difference. It is the only message powerful enough to change a man someone might say..

"It's fun isn't it. I remember my sister. Tammy her senior year back then. They would have that service prior to graduation where was more of a religious emphasis. Remember those. My sister was born. Crippled walking is a very difficult thing for her. I remember sitting there and they had guys at the stairs of the stage helping each one of the ladies up. They thought it'd funny if they didn't help my sister and she tripped she did. They laughed funny isn't it. I wonder how many of us in the name of jesus of course we justify don't who none of us are perfect of course for not but we're supposed to be like the one who is i'm willing to bet he's never laughed at you. See you need to understand something if you need to write this down whatever wanna call it however you want to excuse it however you want to justify when it comes to sin god's not laughing and he never will because every time we thinks is funny or we play it off. We cheapen what he did on the cross. In fact i think if you read the word correctly how about this. I think god we say how. 'bout quit laughing at what i created. Want you just look at my cross and find that to be funny and then you can talk about later because whatever you do for the least of these. You're doing it to me. That's what my bible says. What is it about sin. We find funny. It's probably because we don't know what sin is. And so if you have your bibles i want to invite you to go to romans five because i contend right now were a little bit more like doris day. I'm talking about cases. Arise ask whatever will be will be the future's not ours to see case. Ross hate the break the news here you will die and die. There's no out of it will be will be. The future is secure. You see sin is a big deal. And it's time we better rethink because if we really understood it. We probably try to stop doing it. It's a big deal. why we need to rethink it. So romans five. I'm going to begin in the twelfth. I i'm reading from the living translation. Romans five beginning verse twelve. Let's pray father. My heart is pounding. Its paces pretty high right now because i'm not capable the even capture. Truly you really only understand. So god i pray that your spirit would move for without it nothing. It's just a bunch of meaning less words. La bible says your truth actually can transform us can transfigure us and so we begged for your spirit. The fall we beg. Your spirit would move in such a way that there's no way we could ever leave the same. I'm going to trust that in advance. And if you'll confirm with me all god's people would say amen romans five beginning in the twelfth verse. When adam sin sin entered the world adam's sin brought death so that death spread to everyone for everyone. Sindh fact the bible says and i john that if you say you have no sin. You're a liar. The bible says and goes on to say and you do not know the truth. There for the truth is not set. You free in. The son of god doesn't even know you sin is a big deal. We've all we've all set with me. We've all in fact someone right now and say. Us you've always wanted to say it that way say it again. Citizen is 'cause you're saying to someone else someone saying to you. We're all centers verse thirteen. Yes people send even before. The law was given pre moses. Watch this but it was not counted as sin because there was not any law to break. This is crazy because the bible says verse fourteen. Still everyone died. We're going to talk about that moment. This vision just came from efficient. When i was wondering i realized that goes. Love is wonderful. Inefficient is one. I'm reading from the two that the new living translation officials want three is all praise to god the father of our logic christ who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united christ even before he made won't remember what s started even before he may the word god love does and he chose us in christ holy without fault in his eyes so even before the world existed. God love those waived everything that god did sending his son to die for us. Everything was prompted. From god's love like i said everything in exam creation is a reflection of who god is is causing even before he made the war even before he made the word. God love does and shows even before you decided to become christina. And everybody's like. Oh god forgive my sans oh i confess jesus is lord. I believe in my heart. God loves you regardless of your sin so you feel like you. I cinna even before he made a god loves you and shows you to be in christ holy and we are forced never went god sees you. He sees you what holy and we out folks. She needs to remember the facts. Don't let the devil cloud you don't be don't go with the devils lie. Let the word of god your truth would say that should be alive so yeah he said god decided in advance before it has been going to become a christian calls advanced. I dubbed chains is on family. I'm by bringing austin himself through. Jesus christ this is what he wanted to give pleasure. It's going to stop it. As law innings divisions won't actually get. How much good loves you. So yeah as out tweeden. I think when you're struggling to forgive or receive the forgiveness of god. Should i say you need to remind yourself of the love of god. I think that is so important and somebody who struggles to receive. Forgiveness is somebody who does not understand how much god loves them really important that we understand that the love of god is unconditional and we see across scriptures but in particular. You've got a rooms eight. That's he eight two thousand. Now you've got romans five eight that talk about short his great love for us by sending christ's to die for us while we were still sinners and since we've been made fry in god's sight by the blood of christ he will certainly save from god's condemnation so it's really important that we know that the love of god is not based on feelings but is the on actions. You know it's not based on what you've done is not based on what are doing. God loves you respected or what you do and don't do and is very important that we understand that that god's love is just on conditional he gave himself he gave author is for you just to reveal his love for you. This christ is the expression of course love for humanity. And it's very important that we we know this and you know jesus crisis than living expression and just the embodiment of the awesome love of god. His entire life that jesus walked on earth is an offering of love for humanity. And he's truly goes you know undescribable gift and it's important because that's how we express by stevie knows because without to die. Wade sent his son. He's is son today. We can also chew during his That's how and. I think it's very important for you to know that god loves you. God is able to forgive. You got us of what about seeing you have committed..

Because i was just how she. I had no idea what was going to meet. Catchy more the good angry is good is there. There is a god. There's the bad is people that that loves us and that basically reflection of aromas five eight the bad is there's just people who don't believe that and the angry are those who are doing these. Google searches which which made me realize we got work to do. Yeah and so. I went through romans one since he started off the first eighteen versus saying i have good news. He mentions the gospel to your point. Phil over and over six times any talks about race multiple times which is his. I mean riches at his expense and his faithfulness romans three four where it says. Does your faith less nest nullify his faithfulness. I mean the bottom line is if you just do a quick glance about it and you throw in sodom and gomorrah and the flood and even in chapter one eighteen through three twenty. You get the impression. And i picked out those three references in one eighteen. One twenty four and one twenty six. I think where it says. God's wrath is being poured out and because of this god gave them over and because of that he gave them over to do what is even shameful. And so you're getting the impression that god if a quick glance at it that he's not for us and i think that's why you had these google searches however the fact is we're here today. He didn't analysis. We're still here. He provided and not only provided but was faithful to making this plan of jesus happen. Mir's think about it. He never got off the plan. Despite all of life misery and rebecca even down to. We're down to a family with no one hour. I mean we. We literally got down almost to extinction but gob was faithful throughout the whole process. Oh you so well yeah. I had a quick glance. Why is that not true. Well then luke fifteen like. Because i had determined that on the pied care where the two sons the one says. Oh gimmie my stuff. He goes out like an idiot but the father let him go and so my whole point was through going through one three five. And obviously i'm just giving you an overview you have to realize what what comes out and in romans five therefore things that have to come out in your life that to me coincide with the the breadth of the sun being in the pig pen. There's a phrase it says. Because all he ever did on the road to recovery is a phrase that says when he came to his sentence Part of the attitudes in romans. One feel always reads is that they're heartless their faithless there senseless and so there's four things in romans five that i brought up that what that means you realize that christ our force when we were powerless when we were ungodly when we were centers and when we were enemies he says those four things in the first eight verses of chapter five. What's kind of adds a little credence to the apostle paul explaining how the world works. What a wretched man i am. Yeah that's what that's the field behind those questions you gay. Yeah on their sale. You know who created god. Why hawaii mad at me. Yeah because they look at themselves as wretched man with no hope because there is no jesus there well and bad things to happen and his own life proved they said wretched. Man i was. I want to mention to that. Joe was looking for resources. Akao element is from louisville. Great writer written some great books. He wrote a book called. And its own is based on luke fifteen and in that text. The stands for awareness. He came to his senses humility. He decided it was time to do something about it. You had to helmet himself in. The last one was action which meant he got. He got up and went. So that's a great book. If you're looking for the point the point being is that once you realize the reason he allows us to go down this downward spiral from our sand and a lot of things happen. As a result of somebody else's seeing and there is a spiritual forces of evil out there. I'm out brought up because people won't answer to last all wise wise's happening but when you so is got allowing this to happen. There has to be a humility of broken. This a realization. That if we do it our way. We're we're powerless to succeed in things that matter things that god accomplished through history through his plan through his grace through his faithfulness in in jesus. You realize you're center. You realize you're on golly and an enemy which i referenced that philippians three eighteen which basically says you wake up every morning. Your biggest concerns are. What are you going to eat doing. Things that are destructive. What was the other things in three eighteen. Oh do and shameful things that you glory in in your mind on earthly things. Well that's not the what you think of as an enemy of the cross but if you live your day to day ikea you're living as an enemy of the cross because that next verse says but our citizenship is in heaven and we eagerly await a savior their lord jesus who will transform this lowly earthly body into love the perez and tents nature of that our citizenship is in heaven that already that deposit this been given us seasons one of what is guaranteed to come. So that's how you can leave your life on. Shane is because you know you're already there. I mean it's actually live a life back on the comfort thing but he's the god of compassion and comfort. Yeah but most people don't think turning to god will bring them comfort but that's exactly what happened and and that doesn't mean comfortable that means well right now the pla. Don't look at yourself as so you understand okay. Yeah i was a rich person. Until i turned to god. This is a lot more comfort with him than without him. That's for sure. Well i brought up. Abraham the drugs lead alcohol and the morale and all of this stuff and the fighting in the bickering and all the cursing and carrying on right and looting shooting when all leaves. You're alive when you wake up in the money. Watch a good sunrise and log down through the woods. You like that that. Just some guy lives out like we. Do you say life first. A lot better. I brought up abraham because paul did romans four because as i went from one to chapter two i into way it doesn't matter when you were born as far as before the law after the law had many sins you've done which once you've done because in that chapter two and three and we know it says god doesn't show favoritism at the end of two it says he'll judge man secrets he he's not gonna make a mistake. He knows your heart. It's not about that. And so it gives to three and basically he's faithful despite our faithlessness. And but the bottom line is we're all centers might set very clear and then he gets to the but now a righteousness from god is revealed that we know specifically comes in the death burial resurrection. Jesus but then he gets to romans four brings up abraham which. I think the reason he did that based on looking at it from this view is because you cannot be asked to do a greater injustice than to receive a promise from god that he carried out. Leave your past go to a different country. All nations going to be blessed by you and then here comes the unjustice. Now go sacrifice your son because a lot of people they look at that especially in the world. And they're like come on..

"My heart was so filled with the love of jesus that all i could to shout his praise and worship him. His love is so absolutely astonishing. Things have happened in the recent past that is caused my heart to be very vulnerable. And it's with great joy that i turned to jesus for healing the restoration. It's to jesus a look. He is a friend. He is a savior. Who will never turn aside. He will never leave us or forsake us. Let me read a passage of scripture as we open today. And then we'll go to the to the sermon. On the mount. This is romans the fifth chapter. I'm reading from the lavender translation of the new testament. It's a very accurate translation of literal nature. This is romans five. I'll begin reading in verse. Eight but god confirms his own love for us in that while we were.

"City. I don't want you to take a side cut. I don't want you to be deceived by apollo john. I want you to walk in victory in joy in peace as you make your way toward heaven. We are much closer than you. Or i could even imagine to the grand redemption of jesus as he comes and meets with us any carries us through as his bride. We are at the door even at the door. You will see things happen in the next month's the will absolutely shock you you will see Judgments come upon the world upon the wicked and those of us who belong to jesus. We will hide ourselves in him for. He is our refuge. He is our sock. The wing of god extended over us. He is everything but now we have some serious issues to talk about. I continue today with the sermon on the mount. And i need to come back to the very first beatitudes. Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are the ones morning where they will be comforted. Blessed are the humble for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are the ones hungering and thirsting for righteousness but they will be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful. Would they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart for they will see god. Blessed are the peacemakers were they will be called sons of god. Blessed are the ones having been persecuted because of righteousness for theirs is the kingdom of the heavens blessed are you when when they may insult and persecute you and may say every wicked word against you falsely for my sake you must rejoice and must be glad for yourselves because your reward is great in the heavens for they so persecuted the people the prophets before you come back with me to that. I be attitude. Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of the heavens. That word for poor in way of review means grinding poverty. no possible way to help myself just surviving. What is it that causes a person to be poor in spirit. It is only one thing. It is sin. It is rebellion against god now. Jesus sat on that. Mount really. not amount is just hill overlooking the sea of galilee gently sloping down to the water's edge. Blessed are the poor or how happy are the poor. That is what a person begins to recognize their sin and they begin to repent for that sin and they begin to mourn over that sin. Blessed are the ones morning for. They will be comforted when a person begins to mourn over that sin. The blessing of god comes upon them. They will be comforted. The word comfort means to bring forth the pain. It means nothing is going to remain hidden. We're gonna talk about everything in the words that that boyle has to be lanced and drained that cancer has to be removed. So jesus is saying okay when you recognize your grinding poverty is caused by your sin and you begin to weep over that sin you be kid to morton over that sin. The lord will comfort. You will bless you know. We need to stop there just a moment. We need to stop an ask. Does a farmer always plow his field time after time after time no. I was raised on a farm. We plowed the field in the springtime. And then we discussed the field sharp blades. Cutting up all of the clods of dirt. The field the final preparation that broke that beautiful dark soil and made it loom quality. And then you plant the field. Do you always disc no. Do you always herro. No if you always. If you always plowed you could never plant. Please stay with me on this. This is vital. Blessed are the poor the ones in grinding poverty. Blessed are the ones who mourn over that grinding poverty. I wanna just very quickly go to the book of romans. Romans five verse eight. But god confirms his own love for us in that while we were still sinners christ died for us but much more than having been made righteous by means of his blood. We shall be saved through him from the wrath of god in other words there is a progressive movement in the life of a christian. But if this first step is missed. This is the entry way into the kingdom of god identifying absolute.

"All right let's get into our study on the book. James says it's part six. You should have an outline of things. I want to say here that i believe will will be a great blessing to you last week. We finished james chapter one We talked about what it means to be. A doer of the word of god in light of the context verse. Twenty two of james chapter one all the way. To the end of the chapter verse. Twenty seven and obviously. There's the doer of the word of god. You respond to his voice. We need to do that. But there's the context talks about looking into the perfect or the complete law liberty and continuing that gays basically at what jesus has done and what that does is it. Changes your words. It changes your actions in other words. You connect with who you are in christ as a born again child god but this i love james. The book of james has been called the proverbs of the new testament. I've told you that before if you go back and read proverbs in the old testament. There's thirty one chapters. I highly recommend that you do that. As a devotional because proverbs as i describe it as pro verbs verbs and action right. Okay one to two rights. A few people back. I'm taking you back to school. Announ person placer thing. Verb is an action. So i call pro proverbs pro actions in the scriptures. Tell us. I mean who we are in the spirit. For example the love of god's shed abroad in our hearts by the holy ghost which is given to us in romans. Five five but we need to know what that looks like. God's word is a mere and if you understand the new covenant and you can't physically see your spirit but you can look into the word of god and if you understand that it reflects who you are for example. I'm going to say this. Was we get in this message. I've said it before. God did not do away with the ten commandments. Contrary to what some quote grace people are saying today but what he did was he relocated them from tablets of stone to the flesh. Lee tables of your heart. The inner man i mean adultery is not wrong under the old testament now. It's okay.

"Or there to be more at one that response to these are other people. Thinking mike is six. Am i right mike. Four throughout the prophets. God had his people sometimes saying okay. You require a calf for guy you require us to go to. Yeah mica six six. Wherefore shall i come before the jehovah and by myself before the high god shall i come before with burnt with cavs a year old will jehovah be pleased with a thousand rams with ten thousand rivers of oil. Shall i give my firstborn for my transgression. See the people and you can just sense you can hear just how hostile they were to god the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul and then the profit he has showed the oh man what is good and what jehovah death require of the to do justly to love kindness and to walk humbly with your god so here are the people they. They had an example and brian that you were talking about the exact opposite of what needed to be. Just tell me how many i need to bring god just coming homes tummy show up in sacrifice and then i'll that it's kind of like the person you think you owe somebody money with respect up. Somebody owes you money if it's time for them to repay you apart question. How would you like for them to repay you. How would you like for them to repay you. Old person says hey thank you so much for letting me twenty dollars here you go back. How could you repay it in a spiteful way. That's exactly what i thinking all right here. Here's your twenty dollars back. I knew you need just couldn't wait to get it back. So i just i don't even have them roll up just just bringing the bags of pennies and say counter. There's a twenty dollars what you think people treat that way. Our god we showed up again of worship. Didn't want you to burn my house down. Didn't want to lose my job. So here i showed up again. God says that's not it and that's always been true when you go back and you start looking at mike. God look i want you to have your heart in it. The idea of loving god with heart soul strengthen mind that is not any testament concept. It's been there all the time. In wounds a little different approach to it but to me that same thing and would king saul when he decided he was wait on samuel and then so what was samuel replied. That situation and he says was better to eight five world. He wasn't saved sacrifices not good. He wasn't saying that the fat who's not good obedience in in that falls into this category of doing things by the spirit it begins with a heart even as we interact with people going back to the money station. Does somebody money Just keep your money. No really if that's how you feel. I was good enough to win the twenty dollars and now if you feel you have to come back and treat me like i did a bad thing and throw twenty dollars pennies at me. Just keep the twenty dollars. I don't want and it seems like god. Has that same kind of feeling. That's how you feel. I want the heart. I want that relationship with you. I want us to be in a covenant relationship and if people don't want that god says you're you're barking up the wrong tree. Okay let me give you. This point is well when you look at these versus roma seven five or six these to bring three great illustrations to close. You may remember from back in. Romans chapter five. It was a while before essentially. We're back there. But paul talks about two heads in romans five. We talk about this. We can follow adam. That's the way that we're talking about here. Roma seven or we can follow. Christ then in romans chapter six paul talks about we can be a slave master to sin or righteousness or christ. And now we've got this sort of illustration here norma seven and that would be the two husbands we can either follow the old man. Which was the way of seeing or we can follow the risen. Christ and then you start looking at seven twelve. We'll get into this material that we touched on a bit last week as far as the law and how it at least in some senses provoke man to send. That's what stan was alluding to just a little bit ago before we get down to seventy anything you want to ask okay. Let's go there woman. Seven verse seven. C then pulses at different times is a loss in god. Forbid how i'd not known sin except through the law for not known coveting except the law had said thou shalt not covet for state but sinn finding an occasion rodney me through the commandment honor of coveting for apart from the loss sin is dead. Nazar said trying to unfold this. There's a lot here. I'm going to try to unpack it in a couple of different ways. I'm going to give you a quick overview of what we're looking at in verse seven paul's going to say that the law reveals the fact of sin does exist. Then as you get down to verse. That was seventeen. i was gonna say the law reveals an opportunity or the law reveals occasion of sin. Then a verse nine is going to talk about the law. And how that illustrates sir. Shows the power of sin. Then going down to verse eleven and this chapter he's going to talk about the deceitfulness of sin that it's going to talk about the effects of seeing the consequences of versus ten eleven. Then he's going to talk about the sinfulness of senator versus twelve and thirteen. This is therefore a fairly comprehensive study at least on the general idea of sin and you start looking at the old testament it had three basic purposes number. One a reveal sin. That's what paul's talking about here. People needed to feel the consequences for saying they needed to feel the way to in the old testament. Did that in a great way. You find that the second thing was that the law not only reveal sin but the law condemn the center. It's one thing to reveal something to somebody for example if you come to a trade show. Maybe it's a little warmer weather and there is the garden. Show out there. And you happen to go through the the barnes and somebody is able to reveal a product. I don't know about you. I'm kind of curious about the new products when you walked to. The fair sometimes have some new things and after they reveal to you. What do they wanna do. They want you to buy hand. That's kind of what happens here In this case the wall condemn people in this case. The person is trying to not continue with. The person is trying to engage. You trying to get you to buy it. So there's the the effect of that and then as far as the old testament purposes the third one was to bring people to christ. It was a schoolmaster that paul talked about ordering relations chapter three. We've seen the. What shall we say question at different times as early as romans. Chapter three verse one paul. He shown the christians are not under a law system. Roma six verse. Four fourteen can't have that otherwise we would always be folded because we can't live a perfect life. He said in seven six christians have been released from that law system. Because it's not gonna work. So paul now says i've got something else to say when a person says i have something to say. Oftentimes we say well. Okay i'll listen but then there are times person. Says i have something to say. And the way that they say say can cause us to listen. Perhaps a little more intently. While the word that paul uses here it's a verb and it means i'll give the definition. It means more than a mere saying speaking of words the term denotes a command and affirmation or an objection. The speaker is not only verbalizing a thought but he's emphasizing it as well. That's.

"A lot of the administration has gone. There's tormorrow and arguments and all this going with the board and people in the church in this people asking questions that articles being winning written about us. Oh also now. I'm stuck at home. And i have to really love my wife. Well my dog. well. I'll have to try to lead my team and i'm also personally going through this so okay but jump out side of yourself for second and and be and think okay. So what does love require me. What is love require my my my church like when you hear that question. What does that mean for. You know man just a as you say all those things are just all the motion and just the disdain hiking see. Yeah exactly where. I was in some of those times where i just felt like man that it's one of the towel in you know just quit. And but when i think about that phrase when he sent that question me what does love require of me. i honestly thought about the verse at saved me. Michael romans five eight. Which says god his love for a while we were sinners christ died for us and so i honestly distinct back to the gospel like way saves sustains us that are that are salvation required the greatest act of love right and that's god's seeming jesus so at harvest we say the gospel you can say four words jesus in my place and so our sin required on the greatest act of love. That's ever seen on the face of this earth. Which is you know. God sitting jesus and so that which is brought us to the family of god so this love. This love now requires me to share. All people requires me to have the mind of christ. It -quires me to love people. I think about first corinthians The great love chapter. I think it's said at a lot of weddings. But that that that passage those verses Contractually really are two people that were struggling to love one another. So it's not just you know. There will be read weddings but made like an anthem so that we should memorize to how we interact with each other in our community and.

"Or scooby romans chapter five verse one romans five verse one therefore being justified by faith we have justified. Means were declared righteous by faith. Thank you in what jesus has done. We have peace with god through our lord. Jesus christ that's the piece. The angels claimed proclaimed jesus birth they said peace on earth goodwill to in the peace. They were proclaiming. Wasn't a peace between men and men. That won't happen until he returns. But it was a peace between ottoman. They did not enjoy that under the old covenant. That's why said in genesis. Six three after the fall spiritual not always strive with man. We have peace with god now because of jesus. If you're born again go to the next verse. By whom also we have access by faith into this grace we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand and rejoice in the hope of the glory of god and not only so but we glory in tribulations. also that's james one two we glory not for them but in them the word tribulations is the greek word the lips. When you feel like you've got a boulder on your chest you can glory also why we know something here. It is again knowing that tribulation works or produces patients and patients experience and experience. Hope now give me. I five from the new american standard. If you don't mind gotta be good back there. Right and hope does not disappoint. This help does not disappoint amen. See the enemy wants you to you and i to be so disappointed as we go through life. That disappointment is written upon our heart and then faith has nothing to give substance to. But this kind of hope doesn't disappoint. Why because the love of god has been poured out within our hearts through the holy spirit who has been given unto us. Amen now go back to james chapter one verse three from the king. Jimmy look at this knowing this that the trying of your faith works or performs or accomplishes or achieves or brings about patients. Look over if you would at philippians. Chapter four verse. Thirteen another verse. We pull out of context often. I can do all things through christ which strengthens me. Now you're going to see another example of how my brain works. I can't fly like superman right. And i'm not gonna try. You know i mean i. What is this saying. Everybody say convicts backup verse ten. Watch this but i rejoice greatly in by rejoice in the lord greatly that now at the last year care of me have flourished again when you were also care for concern but you lacked opportunity. He's talking about the flip helped him. Now watch this financially. Not that i speak. Speak in respective want pulses. I have learned something that whatever stayed. I am in to.

"Diffusion chapter two verse fourteen for he himself is our peace who has made us both one and has broken in down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility this verse is such a powerful picture of what God is doing in the Church at emphasis at this point you have Jews and gentiles together in the same church two groups of people will that have historically been divided you see this language of a dividing wall of hostility and that's a pretty accurate description the way Jews and gentiles related to each other but now that Jews had placed their faith in Christ and gentiles place their faith in Christ and on themselves in the same church Paul writes that Jesus is now our peace he himself is our p he's he's brought us together by his blood shed for both of our sends he's made us one body where we are in Christ together and he has broken down the dividing wall of hostility is a powerful picture of the unifying presence the Christ the unifying power of the Gospel to bring together people who were once opposed to each other now coming together as one in what the rest of this chapter talks about as the household of God fellow citizens with Saints Members of the Gary Household of God and so I want you to think about the church you're apart of and just ask the question is there any Division in your church because Jesus died to break down dividing walls just think about your relationships with other followers of Christ is there any division that you have right now between you and other followers of Christ now this doesn't mean that once we're in the church like we agree about every single thing and that we have the exact same thoughts about every single detail that's definitely not the case here in F- assist it's not the case anywhere in the New Testament you see Paul at different points exhort adding different groups of people to even wear your consciences may differ on things to not miss or compromise the unity you have in Christ even what Jesus prayed for his disciples not only in the first century but his disciples to come after them us in John Seventy amy prayed that we would be one just as he and the father or one a trinity like union and unity in the church that Jesus died to make possible and yet there's an adversary who wants to divide the church who wants to divide us from other brothers and stirs in ways that promote conflict and tension and even hostility and yet the power of the gospel is intended to break down those walls so let's pray for unity in the church and then pray as we continually on this podcast I pray for unreached people groups around the world I want us to pray today for the Poular Falani in Senegal the pool are are known as ardent defenders of Islam they boast of basically being the first black Africans to convert to Islam and so you think about even in different picture maybe in Africa maybe in Asia or right here in America where you bring different tribes together into the Church and the challenges for a unifying that good nope but that's the beauty the power of the Gospel the peace of Christ brings together groups that may have once been opposed to each other so let's pray for unity of Christ to be evident in our churches our relationships and the spread of the Gospel to the nations that God would bring together all ends of tribes all kinds of languages all kinds of people groups from all kinds of different perspectives together as one in Christ across his global body oh God we we praise you for the piece that Christ has bought for us that we now have with you the we're able to pray right now when we have been justified by faith Romans five one says and we now have peace with you all glory a beat your name for the piece you have given us with you the reconciliation we have in relationship with you and so God we pray for for an experience of this piece and this reconciliation with all the brothers and sisters in Christ around us God we prayed you'd help us too guard the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace what equations four will later talk about we pray that you would indeed shut Oh that you have broken down dividing walls of hostility God re pray that you would help us to work for the unity of this beard in the bond of peace and relationships we have with other brothers and sisters in Christ we pray that you help us to guard against division and conflict and tension God we pray that you would help us to guard against division in our churches got an each of our churches in the church I pastor in the churches that are represented in those who are praying this may now re pray for unity of the spirit of peace and Gary pray for that not just in our churches God but as your church spreads and multiplies to the ends of the earth cowdery pray for the spread of the Gospel for the spread of the peace of Christ among the polar felony synagogue. Please oh God a million of them so few some of them have knowledge of Jesus Gunnery pray for the spread of the peace of Jesus among the Poular Lonnie and Senegal and then got re pray that weather are there in Senegal or in all kinds of places around the world God that you would bring together even once warring or conflicting tribes bring them together in a beautiful display of the Gospel got re pray what Jesus prayed for us in John Seventeen that we would be one as as you is the father and his son are one give us this kind of oneness we pray and help us to work against division show us even slowing from this prayer today specific ways we need to work for unity specific ways we need to reconcile with brothers and sisters in Christ who we may be divided added from right now God by the peace you've bought for us in Christ May we pray this in Jesus name
