"Can pass, but he's not exactly a setup guy from the back end. I just think he's one of those just pieces that just kind of like a rising tide kind of thing. Slots in somewhere in the middle. Let me give you a couple of stats before I give you my Tate impressions on them. So the last time he didn't lead the capitals. In 5 one 5 usage. You have to go back to 2015, 16, which is his first full NHL season where he didn't play any HL games. And I think that might surprise some people, right? I think he's legitimately a top pairing defenseman. They've used him as such, despite his raw minutes or a point totals, like they've relied on them to take that capacity. He's been so consistent for them. Evolving augie had this interesting stat where over the past three seasons, these are the top ten defensemen and expected goals above replacement. Kill mccar number one, Adam Fox number two, Jared's bridge at number three. The bond tapes number four, Charlie mcavoy number 5, Roman yossi number 6, Chris tanev number 7, Dmitry orlov number 8. And then number 9 is aircraft in ten equity. That passes that passes the smell history. Those are ten pretty good defensive in today's NHL, and that's over the past three years. And I think the fit here is perfect because I'm not sure I would have said as such last year under Bruce Cassidy, but I actually think some of the wrinkles that they've incorporated under Jim Montgomery this year. Tie in perfectly to the way we're allowed once the place, specifically offensively. I think defensively, it would have been as much of a fit last year because it's interesting you mentioned the open ice hits. I think he doesn't. We're off 31 now. I think he's turning 32 this summer. I don't think he goes with them as with as much frequency or reckless abandon as he might have when he was a bit younger, he sort of picks his spots a bit more. But when you still watch him play, he's so aggressive in the neutral zone as a defender. Like he steps up, he uses his stick. He tries to get the gap up on you and you're not going to get clean zone entries against him. And that's a hallmark of the bruins defense, right? Like no team has better connectivity between their forwards and defensemen, no team maintains those better gaps. They force you the reason why they always have such good possession metrics is partly because they force you to get rid of the pock dump it in and then they go back and retrieve it and especially when they have bergeron out there part of the wizardry of it is he comes back down solo, the defenseman is able to get it to him and they're quickly out of the zone. And so you're not actually spending any time depending on your own end when those top players are out there and orla is going to give them another player that can help facilitate that process defensively. Yeah, he's quick enough when they want to go on the attack from the D zone. He's, like you said, he is

Wild top Preds 4-3 on Hartman rebound with 21 seconds left

"The wild pulled out a four three win over the predators on Ryan Hartman's goal with 21 seconds left. I'm trying to get in front more. But the puck's got just been hitting the goalie and going to the corner and nothing's been sitting there for me. Like they should, but end up working. Hartman knocked in a rebound just 26 seconds after Nino nita writer tied the game for Nashville. Carell caprice off score twice and brand a new ham had the first goal for Minnesota, which won a regulation for the first time in 13 games. Tommy Novak and Roman yossi each scored for Nashville and assisted on nita writers goal. I'm Dave ferry.

"The athletic in game score value added and their entire forward group ranks 23rd in the league with just 9.8 wins, which is very underwhelming. And it's interesting because it's something that everybody could see coming. Like, sure, they were expecting progression from Tanner to know. He was a good player to have last year and you know need writer at its contract. I think was a very good value add for them, but this is a team that for the last couple of years has not been good enough and then got really hot goaltending at the right time and decided let's just go for it and that's fine if they want to maximize their core of Roman university and Philip forsberg and UC SARS absolutely. I get it. But it's really hurting them that they not once took that step back to really assess and figure out where they could go from here where they actually would be headed in the playoffs because we can see how much it's hurt their progression. Last year they had a couple forwards who could carry the puck into the zone. That was it, you know, Greenland could a little bit. Did you change it a little bit? Forsberg did a lot and then Roman yossi, you know, a defenseman with more caring than anybody else, really, because they're forward group, which you expect to take on that role, just wasn't doing it. So it just feels like this team if they're going to have any chance of anything this year. And you know, there's still a chance of the playoffs for them and there's chance that sorrows after a slower start turns it around. They really need to figure out how to punch up this offense a little bit more with some puck movers and with some skill to go with the team that they've assembled and obviously injuries hurt them. They can't control that, but they just at their healthiest as constructed are not good enough to do more than, you know, get to the first or second round.

"Matthew Shane had a goal and two assists as the predators won for the second straight night, four one over the islanders. Kevin Lincoln handled 48 shots in black the isles until Matt bar zell beat a midway through the third period. Philip forsberg and Roman yossi each had a goal on an assist for Nashville, which was coming off a comeback when it New Jersey. Michael Greenland also scored for the predators. Grand limit duchene scored into empty nets. The islanders have dropped two straights into four game winning streak. They've won just twice in their last 13 meetings with the predators. "In studio. We're talking about The Rookie race. So I have a few more points on power here. That 15 minute OEL tangent at the start throughout throughout our timing here, 'cause I was like, all right, we're gonna talk a bit about our own power, then we're gonna get into other stuff and like, I just long checklist of things I want us to discuss and we're gonna hit like 25% of it. So we're gonna have to have you back on in studio here soon to get into all that. But let me give you a few stats here. I know that you had one in your piece about this rookie race. The blew me away, which was that power's third in terms of entry passes per game behind. Roman yossi and Eric Carlson two guys who are known for being pretty good at moving the puck. I have a few other stats for you here though. He's 5th in the entire league in 5 one 5 usage. Wow. And in terms of 5.15 minutes ago, he's 27th overall because he's not getting all those power play one minutes, but with him on the ISO 5 one 5, they're outscoring teams 28 to 21, which is actually I made this point on yesterday's show when talking about Rasmus Dali and I know this is becoming like a buffalo Sabres podcast here. But I think it's really important to know because if you just look at their win loss record, they just lost a straight games. It's like, oh man, this team is so far away. It's just another year of the sabers being the same old same old disappointment. When they have one of those two guys on the ice, they're doing really well. They're outscoring teams that are controlling territorial play like they're one of the better teams in the league. And then whenever they don't have them on, which is basically third pair of minutes, they're getting crushed. And to me, that's like a very easily fixable thing in the grand scheme of things. Like of all the things that you need to work on, if you have these building blocks in place, you can especially with their analytics staff now that they have in Buffalo, you'll be able to identify some undervalued third pairing guys that can give you minutes where they're at least breaking even. And if they were getting that right now, they'd be, they'd be winning much more than they're losing, and I think everyone would be talking about like, oh, the sabers, they finally where we want them to be. And so I think maybe it's a bit aggressive to say that they're going to be like next year, they're going to be the New Jersey Devils of this year, because I don't think it's fair to expect anyone to make that type of lead. But really, like with slightly better goaltending and slightly better play on the margins with their bottom 6 up front and their third pair on the blue line. I think this team can get good really quickly. And maybe they shouldn't be sacrificing the future to try to accomplish that.

"Spoiled us into thinking that that was just a regular thing to expect from him when in reality it was a real herculean effort from him and especially with the volume of games they were playing. I mean, to the point where he finally broke down at the end of the season and got hurt and visit their playoff series against Colorado is already started, I believe, ten of their 13 games this season so far. So there's that and then offensively, I think you're almost understating what an aberration last year it was. Yeah. They never had a 35 goal or 90 point player in franchise history prior to last season. And then Matt duchene scores 43 goals. Philip forsberg scores 42 goals. Roman yossi hits 96 points. And if you look at the shooting percentages of all those players, both on ice shooting percentage and individual, and they were through the roof. I mean, Brian Johansson 22%, ten or 19.4. Duchenne and forsberg both just under 19. And I think maybe the thing I mistakenly gloss over in my expectations and I was like, all right, well, they can just repeat what they did last year was kind of expecting that to happen again because that seems like that was probably the best case scenario for pretty much every one of those players. Yeah. For sure. No. And so like I said, just the idea that, well, you know, they can be around the playoffs again. It's like no, again, they barely made it. And all that stuff went right for them. So the idea that you would add. McDonough and neater writer, again, both players I like. And go, oh, they can maybe even take a step. It's like, no, they can maybe get back to where they were because they added those plans. And obviously, it's not happening happening for them so far. So here's the thing. Even beyond this season, they have $56 million in cap commitments.

"Gee, Roman yossi and kale macara on the north. Gee, that was tough. McDavid and Matthews. That was tough on the heart. But then you start grinding into it and you're like, there's 8 or ten guys. And it's really a pretty cool thing. It's fun to do. All right, so again, you mentioned that you're in New York. You're doing the Pittsburgh penguins, New York rangers series. We haven't heard from department of player safety as we record episode 33 here. So a disclaimer and by the way, we're not going to talk about Toronto and Tampa Bay or Edmonton in Los Angeles. Because those series might end and the podcast be dated. We'll do the deep dive in episode 34. How's that? And then set the scene on whatever the next series looked like. But you essentially at the front row seat for the Jacob trouba hit on Sidney Crosby. I've looked at all the video angles that have been supplied on social media. I feel badly that Sidney Crosby couldn't finish that game, but it sure didn't look like anything more than a minor penalty to me. What did you see? Well, okay, so live, I see the hit and my first reaction is Manny, bell funny. Like I'm looking at his legs, his ankle, his knee, because his legs kind of buckle out. So I'm aware of the contacts in the upper body, but I think Jesus kind of awkward the way he fell. So he goes back to the bench. Now to my right is the penguins bench. I don't see anything because past four or 5 guys. You can't hear anything and you can't see anything down there. I noticed that malkin takes a shift instead of Crosby. And I'm like, what the hell is he doing out there with those two guys? And I'm like, oh, so I checked my monitor, which has the player tracking and Sid's got a red mark by his name, which means he's left the playing surface. So we know he's back in the room. I look at it on replay Drake's. I'm telling you, I can't get to the point where I think it's suspension worthy. Now my Twitter mentions from Pittsburgh, you know, have me, you know, every name in the book. And that's fine. I understand that. They're fans. However, I think it's a two minute penalty at most when true but yet, if people could take their fan hat off and I'm going to tell you what happens as a player is that you commit to a play. And the play happens. Do you know what the time frame is? It's like a second. It's not 8 seconds. It's not 5 seconds. It's not three. Trooper goes to commit to the hit on the play on Crosby because he's in, first of all, he may know what's Crosby, he probably doesn't. He knows it's a Pittsburgh guy. He probably knows it's Crosby because he's on the ice against him a lot. He goes to commit the hit, Sid's going to avoid the hit. Why are you going to take a hit when you don't have to? He avoids the hit, and that's where I think true but elbow is a little bit high for that play. And that's why it's a two minute penalty. I don't think it's, I just, I can't get to the point..

"Yeah. I love you a little jingle there. All right, let's see. Moving right along. Alexander Ovechkin, he hits 50 goals in a season for the 9th time ties Wayne Gretzky and Mike bossy, the only other guys to do it. Since he entered the NHL no other player has more than two 50 goal seasons, he's got 9. He's also the first player 36 or older to score 50 also has the most goals in a season by a guy 36 older, also 20th all time in points. His 780 goals trails, Gordie Howe by 21 and Wayne Gretzky by a 114. But scary moment versus Toronto Sunday. He was on a breakaway. Leafs go, what's it? How do you say you're gonna chalk cauldron? Some people say Shaw grin, God, a silent, but I don't have a fucking clue. Now what we was on a breakaway, he come in and he said he was trying to poke the puck away, but it was kind of awkward the way he hit him. It almost looked like he was trying to trip him and he did that tripped up, fell down over you look like he was in some serious pain. He got up. Hopefully he's going to be all right, but wait, did you think that was deliberate? Did it look accidental? I just never seen a put the stick white like that before. Oh, I think it would be kind of shocking for him to deliberately do that. I think he's just looking at a time and make a save, but luckily it did come out and said, oh, he's day to day, so I think he should be good. I quickly forgot to mention nurse is questionable for game one. That's a huge loss for Evans and we need darn on there. But yeah, yeah, exactly. That play no, I can't say that that was like malicious or him trying to trip him. It was definitely awkward looking though. So I kind of know what you mean in terms of not seeing something like that. But we need an ovi even injured whatsoever, so bizarre, because the guy's such a machine, he doesn't miss games. So you see him leave a game and you see him kind of keeled over in pain. It's like, wow, that doesn't happen to the Russian tank, but I think he'll be ready to go for the playoffs. Yeah, Torres motivated, didn't want to play it last few games of the season. Oh yeah, torn cartilage. Day to day with an upper body injury. I came across this stat. He's played a 96.7 of a capitals game since he joined the league. That's crazy. I don't know how you play the way he has and not missed more time. Bananas. Another note on the caps. I guess they bring it to you. Oh, the gas do tell. Oh yeah. Good call. Sauce cross it. The capsule apparently bring them back these screaming eagle logo for next season. You guys are fan of that. I think one of the worst jerseys in league history. Well, they brought it back for the reverse retro in the red and I thought it looked good. I just don't know what type of color scheme they're gonna go with. Wait, that Jersey didn't have Rhett. What do you mean? Oh, they put that logo with the red Jersey. They had, yeah, I believe it was the eagle that was on it when they did the reverse retro. I could be wrong. I've been wrong before. But I want to see the Colorado correct, you're correct. I don't know. Maybe it was just more about the colors I just like then. Oh yeah, see, I don't mind, I don't mind it there. It was more about like the blue and yeah, this is different. The reverse retro is pretty sweet. Yeah. So that's why I said RA about the color scheme. So I'm not sure what they're going to go with. So we'll see. And I always like a little bit of change turnover. We went from the coyotes, the desert dog on the front to now the kachina. I like changing it up. And maybe one day we'll go back to the other one. All right, congrats to Steve stamp coach. He's now Tampa Bay's all time points leader. Let's see he had a goal and two assists versus Toronto Thursday night past mighty St. Louis got 959 points and 918 games. He's first in goals, third and assist all time, and Nikita kucherov hit 600 NHL points, only 5 active players have done it faster than them. McDavid Crosby Ovechkin malkin and draisaitl. And Victor hedman had an interesting quote. They asked them about who he would vote for if he had a Norris vote, and he said he'd probably vote for Roman yossi, which I thought was a pretty interesting answer. And then we got a nice little clip there in the game. Pat maroon and Wayne simmonds, they were backing at each other from their respective benches, and then they ended up having a scrap, which you think of that scrap is. I thought it was great. I mean, tons of chirp and going on, Leah hextall was breaking it down perfectly. And I mean, just chaos. A lot of bad blood there. What do you think of it? Yeah, they hate each other. It could be very interesting in the first round. I just think it was amazing to ask Wayne simmonds if he's a soft player. I mean, that was pretty funny. Can you guys not agree with that? Gee, you're laughing. Well, I think maroon call him soft and that's why she was reiterating asking the question. Yeah, I know it's just like, but even from maroon to call him soft hilarious. Anyone calling Wayne simmonds soft. Either has no clue or just hasn't really watched. The guy's tough as nails. He's the opposite of soft. And to be fair, I mean maroon it might be one of the softer guys in the league if we're talking about like maybe like an abdomen standpoint. Patty, he's pointing to his belly, that's fuck patty. I mean, you got a bit of a beer belly on you. I like the look on you. You know, you need a little cushion. In front. Yeah, you need a little cushion for the pushing right rear. Absolutely. I mean, I have no ass, but yeah, in the bedroom. I don't think patty does either. He's just got a barrel on him. Can I ask you guys a quick question? Did you guys see them just laughing while they were fighting? Have you guys ever seen that before? They were Janssen was always laughing when he was fighting. But both guys? I don't think I don't know. I mean, we're not much of the statisticians around here or one for memory. So I couldn't tell you off the top of my head, but definitely. Laughed a lot. And laughed a lot, Louis fight in business. Yeah, he was a sick puppy. Yeah, he was real sick. You basically, if you get a couple sick puppies together, then they're going to be laughing while they're punching each.

"To I'm happy Gilmore and everyone out there who is Roman yossi for Norris is chubbs, happy Gilmore's coach. I'll start. I'm stupid. You're smart. I was wrong. You were right. You're the best. I'm the worst. You're very good-looking. I'm not attractive. And I understand I fucked up. This is one of the greatest seasons. I have ever seen and will ever see from a defenseman. I love kale mccart and he's gonna win one and he's gonna probably win two or three, but what has happened since basically since I said he'd locked up the Norris trophy, has been outer worldly production from a defenseman who just so happens to be the best looking guy in the NHL. Talk about having the world by the balls, Roman Yoshi. I don't think there's ever been a player in a defenseman in the NHL who's gotten a hundred points without a forward on the team having a hundred points. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm sure I'll hear about it, but he's probably going to get a hundred points. The pace he's on. And I want him to get it so bad because the 90 point barrier is about to smash. I mean, what are we looking at? 30 years since that happened. And I believe maybe that same year leech had a hundred, but he has to be in the MVP discussion. And I don't know how this is such a memorable record breaking unreal NHL season. I can not wait for playoffs. I know this is the dolphin type of the time of the year that's tough, but what we are witnessing with Austin Matthews and Roman yossi and shirks freaking goals against average and save percentage. And let's not even forget the two the two headed monster and Edmonton, and they don't even really get that much credit. I think just 'cause people are so used to them being so clean. And the other guy, the fact that nobody's even talking about them is Crosby's on pace if he played all 82 games for about a 115 points himself. It's just, we are having such a special crazy year. And I don't know how you're going to get down to three MVPs. I don't, because guy, fan bases are going to be furious because there's going to be legit three guys who could say they're getting hosed, not being on the ballot. But Roman yosi and what he's done and watching how he's carried a team completely on his back and without him, I'm going to say that he is MVP because without him, Nashville isn't even sniffing the playoffs. They could be like, they could be like 12th in the conference without this guy. So as I said before, I apologize. Yeah, it's incredible what he's doing right now. Boys, I know we've been talking about team MVPs while unfortunately the New Jersey Devils lost is for the year. Jack Hughes has done for the season. He suffered a low grade MCL sprain from that all of a wallstrom hit last week. We were all traveling and stuff last week. We missed the PK subban, all the Wall Street thing. And we were like, wow, you know, we basically jumped them, but we watched the clip of it, and I know I'm not sure we agreed on the hit. I thought wallstrom led with the knee, and that's what subban saw. That's why he went over. And of course, Hughes is out. So obviously it was, you know, maybe not the best hit maybe the cleanest hit. I understood the reaction from PK and I really respect the fact that with how his, you know, maybe his overall game has been on the decline. He's been willing to step up in situations like that to protect the future. Guys like Jack Hughes, that's showing leadership. I know he's really well liked in that locker room. You always see him all posted on Instagram hanging out. He's get the hanger out of the Young Bucks. But as far as the hits concern, he clearly goes to hit him with I believe what is his right shoulder and then he leads with that same skate. So from a body position standpoint, he's going to throw a clean hit and what I think happens with and you can correct me if I'm wrong. Nowadays, a lot of guys try to avoid it and fans and with slowing everything down, they don't really want to put the onus on the player who's trying to avoid it where it's like Wall Street had already committed to make a clean shoulder hit in order to stay down on that leg specifically and then lead with that shoulder to keep it down. Him trying to move out of the way last second, that ends up getting him in trouble and it's just sucks at it ends up catching him in the worst spot. It looked like it ended up being like an MCL where smart move shut them down, I also look at it like when I spoke to talk about the situation with stamkos and when he coached him his first year, although his brain was there in his dedication was there, they wanted to get him a little bit more muscular and ready for the man's game where Jack Hughes is still filling out into his body. He clearly has the dedication where he wants to create and develop more of his skill and obviously the strength and the off ice workouts. Shut them down, let them go get faster and stronger, give them an even bigger off season to go work on that and heal up. And he's going to come back in next year and he's going to hit the ground running. So an absolute no brainer there and, you know, sometimes we expect so much of these young guys coming out. He came in as a pretty young scrawny kid, whereas now he is turning more into a man. So no, I don't think the hit was dirty at all. I respect PK for reacting the way he did, but no games, no supplementary discipline. He didn't deserve it. I couldn't agree more, and I actually, I watched his Suzuki on stutzle hit. It's like, sometimes it's just, I don't think they're leading with their knee. They're kind of planting to hit and maybe your knees ahead, but I didn't think it was like a viciously dirty on purpose hit from Wall Street to Hughes and you see your star player get injured. Yeah, you're going to go over and do something, but PK was PK was probably happy. He had to leave that game because there were guys in the Devils. And they don't play again this year..

"I think the evolution of the power play is another. And the last reason is, I don't know, I'm sure someone will have plenty of examples, but I don't know that there's been a time where we've seen so many high end point producers from the blue line. Now don't support the rush, they lead the rush. They don't they're not a secondary scoring option. They're a primary scoring option. I mean, kale mccart might get 30 goals this year. Adam Fox, Victor hedman, Roman yossi, these guys are having monster ears from the blue line. And there's more of them around the league. I think all those things kind of compute to more goals in a game. All right, a couple of other items from the GM meetings, and then we'll wrap up headlines here for episode 27. No trade clauses. This is likely already been agreed to whereby the NHL and the Players Association. Now, independently of one another, we'll have a copy of every player's no trade clause protection, right? Moving forward, all new contracts. And on off scenario and what happened and central registry didn't have the list, all of these things. And then the idea of a playoff cap. So the salary cap doesn't end game 82 of the regular season. Some form of cap would also cover and navigate how general managers is a team in the playoffs. For those who aren't aware, you should be anyway. Right now, game 82 ends. You don't have a salary cap on the playoffs. I mean, the dap lightning want to stand the company kucherov is out for the year. It comes back to the playoffs. Essentially, they had close to a $100 million salary roster, you know, during that playoff run. So why offer two thoughts on both of those starting with the no trade clauses? We would all surprise the PA and the central registry department of the NHL didn't have those lists had no idea. I'm like, oh, the heck would they not have these lists? Like to me, that was dregs out with that's a surprise as I've been in a long time. I'm like, how could something so essential to a trade and a player's movement in the league and central registry in the PA don't have copies? I was blown away..

"For a few weeks anyway, if not longer in some cases, in Connor McDavid's name is always part of that conversation. But historically, because where the oilers were, which was out of the playoff picture, you know, it became more an issue, like a spark, if you will. You know, doesn't carry the same form of intrigue. I mean, again, we record this. He's got a hundred points. The oilers are playoff team. So most definitely he's deserving of being in that conversation. Whereas some have taken the position historically again. When the abdomen letters aren't in the playoffs, should he win the heart on a non playoff team. So does it matter that they're a playoff team now? Well, I think it does. I think it changes the narrative around McDavid a lot. Remember, I don't know what was it, Drake's maybe three, four weeks ago we were talking about at that time. Matthews was, he was the most valuable player in the league. And oh yeah. You know, if everybody, if everybody that's viewing the games and has votes and all those sort of things, have been kicking Edmonton in the shins for not being deep enough or not being good enough or they don't have good enough goaltending and they get into the playoffs and McDavid's going to, I mean, how far ahead is he in the points race already? But if he's winning the point race and he has a hundred plus 120 points maybe like how can he not be in the conversation? I'm just looking it up here because I don't remember so he's got a three point on dry side. He's got 7 on you and ten on Johnny goodrow. Like what if he wins it by 15 end points? I don't know, maybe he'll never run away. He's got to be in the conversation, but I'm looking at it and it's not just for offensive players. I think that's important to note. But Jonathan Hubert has to be in the conversation. He's going to set the all time assist record for a season for a left winger. He's going to have a hundred points. Johnny, good rule has to be. And if he's not in that conversation, you're not watching, right? If those guys aren't in the conversation, then don't vote. You're not watching. If you're not paying attention to the fact that and I know I know there's a Norris trophy, but how can Roman yossi not be in the conversation? Given what Nashville is. As a team and where he is points wise, yet I think if I were to vote today, I would probably have yossi in the MVP for sure, but I would vote my car for the north. It's kind of a weird thing. But it's value to it..

"Stat, I'm going to hand it over to you. Okay, okay, hold on. All those things are a great point. And the reason I brought this up is because it is a valid argument to say he's locked up the Norris was probably incorrect by me, but I'm giving it to my car solely saying locked up because yosi already has one. Right. That's kind of what I'm going with. And he already has a Norris. Okay. So the controlled exit leaders for the 2021 2022 season were Eric Carlson, then Roman yossi, John kleberg, bone byram, Thomas chabot, Morgan rielly, Dmitry rohloff. His skin in wallman and then walker. Where's my car? He wasn't on there. Suck on that. No. You would be an advanced stats guy. You're an advanced guy. I'm talking about watching McCarthy skates. I'm talking about Macarthur, opening up his hips and walking by guys. I feel like he is the best and most impressive to the eye test of seeing a defenseman skate with the puck up ice. I'm sorry and we can agree to disagree. All right. All right, whose side you picked? His nose. You know, Mackay's tough to fucking disagree with man. The way he just fucking. This is called him the McDavid of defenseman. And now he's like, I never handed him the Norris. But you called him the McDavid of defenseman and what's he the best at skating with the puck? Just like McDavid, he's second in line next to Matthews. All right, okay. Bitch, we can move along. Detroit forward. Thanks. Thanks, grinnell. By the way, for looking that up for me. If you find my car on another maybe it was like the first ten and then he's on the second ten, let us know if you can find it, but if not, no worries. All right, even. Bitch. Fuck you. Detroit Ford Robby Fabry, he's gonna miss the rest of the head due to yet another suspected ACL tear, this bullet bastard. No, not the same knee, is it? No, this time it is right knee. He's already at the same injury in the left knee a couple of times. You got to feel awful for this guy. But he's going through. He's sort of not sort of. He has resurrected his career. Detroit has been having a great year. And then this happens again and they had to press conference with Jeff plays those coach and you could tell his coach so devastated it felt so awful for him that he's going through the same injury in a different knee against Robby man. Silver lining. Silver lining. If it was the other knee, it could have been the end. So he can come back from this, but that is so brutal. I feel bad for that kid. Biz and I have mentioned, we became friendly with him at training camp when we were the class clowns. And he was a young rookie and that sucks. I feel really bad for him. Hopefully he gets back. That training camp, I was like, people are going to scald me for this one. He looked like the next Paul Korea. Just absolute water bug out there. I'm like, this guy is going to be the next biggest thing in the NHL. And then what was it? He tore his ACL, right? That training camp? That was the first one. For this? Scald me like is that a skull? Sorry. Guys, speaking of injuries. Calorie SAP. Speaking of injuries, just over the wire. Jacob. He's going to be the next two to four weeks. So I don't know how much that's going to play into the trade factor. And we are going to get to all the trade talk coming up here with David. Awesome guy. I don't know who else, but he started the fourth period magazine with a couple guys. I used to do some funny ass photo shoots with these guys. The mustache ride and it can't be printed magazines and families though. A most cringe worthy photo shoots of all time. Oh, I know which one you're talking about. Definitely definitely up top is in the fourth period if you guys want to check it out. Okay. We will get to that shortly. As I say that Chicago defenseman Conor Murphy, he was stretched off the ice with an upper body injury after it hit from auto's pocket Kelly. Now Kelly was given a 5 minute major for boarding. I don't think it was a dirty intentional hit. It was one of those situations where it looked like Murphy might have turned the last second. I'm not assigning blame to just an unfortunate situation where a guy was down, but fortunately, we got the Ben still of thumbs up. That's always a good sign when the guy's getting stretched up the icy gives the old Ben still a thumbs up. He's feeling well. Hopefully he's going to be feeling better going forward. So just a tough situation to watch. And this is another thing. The oilers what did you ever wear this where these steel sperm Jersey when you were there? No, I didn't have the honor, but that Jersey was taking on a buddy, I don't dislike that Jersey as much you're talking about. I mean, maybe it looks like a kind of a sperm, but put it this way, gags. Sam gagne sent me a picture today. He's in Edmonton. He's doing some signings because the wings play the oilers tonight now that you're listening to this on Tuesday. And he sent me a picture and in the picture he was wearing like the old white Jersey they had with like the one blue line. It's the worst. That Jersey they're bringing back with the sperm rocket. That's way better than some of the other oilers jerseys. I do not dislike it as much as you've been calling out for that. The mister stahl special. The mister Hughes rock, the rocket launcher. I don't know. I like it to bring it back. It's different..

"You're looking at 7 years. Before you're legit, and that's because the players you draft are going to take their 18, 1920, most cases before they even get in the league. And then a couple of years past that before they start to really find their stride. That's 5 years. And that's if it works. They've got unrestricted free agents. Dominic kubelet, Calvin de Haan, Marc Andre fleury. They'll get a draft pick for Ryan Carpenter because he's a functional fourth line player. But they got to move them all. Yeah. Looks like Brian Campbell, the old, you know, the retired defenseman and is really tight with Davidson. He's going to be in the front office in a significant role there. They've had lots of time to plan for this. Davidson's has been the interim general manager almost the whole season. And you know the part of their meetings are, okay, if I get, if I get to take over full time, what are we going to do? And the times now. But I think the cane tapes stuff for you for your question. And even Seth Jones, if that's part of the deal, that stuff's more summer than deadline. I think. Yeah. And you have to massage your way through that with no move contracts and all that. Sure. David pyle has come out, general manner of the Nashville predators. And has made it abundantly clear that their focus is on extending Filip forsberg. There's preliminary talks, not a lot of progress made in the dialog with Philip forsberg's agent. When you look at him statistic and again, because he's a pending unrestricted free agent, that's where the speculation comes from. Could he hit the market? If he hits the market, then Nashville is in big trouble, right? Do they make their diamonds? If he hits the market, they're done. Yeah. How do you explain that to ownership? Because for the most part, I mean, they've come back down to earth here in the second half, but they had a good first half of the regular season. Put themselves. Now, how does David poyle explain it? Or how do I explain it? Well, I'm more interested in your explanation because well, because David Boyle's way is going to be different than mine. My way is going to say, the reason we couldn't find forsberg is because we have Matt duchene and Ryan johansen had $8 million a year. Right. And both of them are way overpaid. And we have Roman yossi 9 million. So forsberg has to fit in between those numbers. That's how you would explain it. I'm not sure the general manager that's made those trades and signings is going to explain it the same way. Well, and to your point, you know, and you can always pontificate, but JP Barry CA, all the big hitters in the agent world. They've done their math. They've done their comps on all of these things, right? And if forestburg were go to the where to go to the open market, I think they strongly believe he'd get 9 plus. So is he willing to leave money on the table because Roman UC needs to be the human salary cap on the national predators. We're about what he believes there, right? There's lots of this to it. How does he get along with the coach?.

"And horvath. So just gives you an idea of some perspective on how good this kid is. Again, I know plays would sit a lot, but we've seen him without sit enough to know those kids of bona FIDE stud. So I thought that was an interesting step. Yeah. I will say the stats a little misleading because barkov and McKinnon were playing at 18, but it is still, it is still it's unreal hockey that you see gentle playing and he's a little older as he came into the league, but he's just such a natural goal score. If he gets it in an area to shoot, it's like if he doesn't get a goal, the goal is forced to make a great save. He's just so nifty with the puck in certain areas and great at getting open for Sid. So I love watching him play. And that all goes back to development to RA, like Pittsburgh, I would say woke spare definitely top 5, at least over the last 25 years of how they develop players. I think they've been around probably 20. Now, was gentle a first rounder? I don't think so. Was he already? Saw another diamond in the rough for the Pittsburgh penguins. I don't know if the doctor got right here. You mentioned them keeping rockstar third round. 77th overall. What a steal. Give that scouter raise. Oh, business next story is from your neck of the Woods and the coyotes once again in the news and by all accounts it sounds like they're going to be playing next season at Arizona state university using their facilities. This is per Craig Morgan of the go. I think it's go Phoenix is the website GO PH. He's obviously been reporting on the stuff quite a bit. He's pretty wide in. I mean, it almost sounds like a joke when you read this. It's an NHL team. They're going to play in a college arena that only holds 5000 people. Now because of NCAA compliance issues, the coyotes can't use the college locker room, so they have to build their own team areas. The estimated costs between 15 and $20 million, they also need to work around Arizona state schedule, of course, a lot of the games are on Friday and Saturday in the nights. But make it an NHL team plan a college bond that holds 5000 people. It's just such a bad look for the league, Ben. It's like, I feel bad for the guys on the team dude. Like, you know, you're in the NHL, you get to this level and now you literally planted a college stadium while you're waiting for another place to get built, which it's not even been approved yet, the one in Tempe. It's just a big old cluster fuck. I guess the only people would probably very happy about this Arizona state students because it's pretty awesome to have a heaven NHL team when he can't be playing the players just crushing college girls. Next week we're going to be hearing that they're playing out of the cardinal stadium, fucking 80,000. Every week it's something different and people look to me for answers, but guys, I'm the fucking bagel boy. I show up ten times a year to do the TV broadcast. I used to do the radio broadcast. As far as doing it out of ASU, you said it's 15 to 20 million to make the locker room set up. They have that coliseum close to downtown Phoenix, which I heard that it was going to cost 15 to 20 million to do a Renault on that. That seats 13,000, there's no boxes there, which might be the problem, but I was looking for more of that coliseum vibe like they had with the islanders. I want beers being thrown on the ice. I want it to smell like cigarettes. We need to get those hardcore fans in an environment that's hostile in order to create that vibe. I think that if you're doing it at ASU with 5000, I think it looks like a little bit of a clown show. Well, 5000 people. It looks like a clown show, but if you're looking for silver linings in this, it'll probably be pretty sick atmosphere. They'll be packed every night. And I think it would be it would be packed in the 13,000 seat arena at the coliseum if they did the rental too though. Yeah, but there's something that I think something was like the building was too old. There was something. And not to correct you. I had oceanside. I think it's, I think it's that the locker rooms don't meet the NHL PA and the CBA standard. I don't know if it's the NCAA. It's more about the NHL has to have a certain amount of rooms and space for Jim and space for guys where it's that's the problem, not the NCAA. It's just a horrific look for the league overall. It's just and marchand's tweet, you can already say what he said. No, we're not talking about it. You Brad? One of the local right is prompt that I'm because he'd been on a social media terrace as well. The only way they get 5000 fins of their games now is if they give 4500 away for free. It is come on, Marcy. Arizona could get the first overall picks, whether it's Shane writer or whoever it is. It's like, oh, I'm playing in a college rank. There's bigger rinks in the oh. I will say, though, at this point, if this actually happens, like Batman's tripled maybe quadrupled down on this bed. Oh my God. He better rig the fucking draft and we better be getting right and Bernard and if we don't, I'm gonna come over the fucking top ropes and I'm gonna fucking slam dunk them with those sketches on his feet to the point where they pop up in orbit. I loved his quote. He's like, the coyotes aren't going anywhere. Well, they're going to be somewhere on the Glendale, but it's going to be in the Phoenix area. Yeah, they go on their fucking leaving to go into the 17th place they been since they've been there. I don't know, they're so pot committed to this. It's crazy. It's like somebody has pictures of somebody where they're admitted to a joke around about this R 8, but for how long I've been involved with the organization I've heard like 20 different things that are going to happen and then they don't end up happening. So I put no stock into anything that's mentioned until it actually happens. So this is all this might also be a tactic in order to get costs lowered for them to go back to Glendale and holding out them. So I don't know. Okay. So they should just play it that outdoor rink at the bar in Scottsdale. What was that place we went to was that little cave creek? No, that little outdoor club at one of the hotels. Oh, the W pool. Let me ask you what issues would the NHL PA or players have with this? Like if they do end up playing in this college facility, what kind of issues would the union potentially rule? Well, they just said it, but it's kind of dumb where it's like, okay, well, then you make your practice facility, well, they're practically right now, is that the ice den and they have a gym in there and they have a good practice setup. I don't know, even there I don't think the locker rooms are like up to NHL standards. So for them to say that about the actual facility, maybe that means for a way teams coming in and what they can provide, but I mean, you've been to some of the away ranks around the league. Like sometimes they have a fucking exercise ban and a couple. I know, but we haven't played in like ten years. I think it's different now. Oh, I think although a weight rooms are like, they have to have a certain amount of space and equipment and all this stuff that, you know, they can't expect like these guys to be happy about playing unless they're young and single. I got to think some guys are not going to be no, I'm going to be sad about it. Some guys campus. Some guys are living on campus in the dorms. Save a couple bucks, too. Why not? Shit. All right, let's see, moving right along. We get some all star updates for you. Nashville defenseman Roman yossi in Washington forward evgeni kuznetsov. They've been added to the All-Star Game roster to replace Nathan McKinnon and Adam Fox, pavelski was named Joe pavelski who was named the captain for the central now that Nate dogs out. Let's see above the captain's Ovechkin for the metro, auston Matthews for the Atlantic Connor McDavid for the Pacific. Unfortunately, there's going to be nosed Daniel Chara, I know that had been speculation. They might try to get him out there for the hottest shot thing, but just to have him there because he's been around for so long, but that's not going to happen. And the league just announced on Monday, a pair of events that are going to take place on the.

Bloomberg opinions worldwide team of editors and columnists I'm your host June grosso This week examining the price of higher education in America and whether it's worth the cost for students and their families Also on the show how Medicare could negotiate lower prescription drug prices for Americans Plus is Arkansas the new Austin why the southern state may be destined to become a top destination for young workers and families But first the Supreme Court's decision in the case over Mississippi's abortion law could have a damning outcome for supporters of abortion rights in America There is a potential for it to energize pro choice advocates nationwide But it's unclear if that same energy will lead those people to the polls in next year's midterms or in the 2024 presidential elections Jonathan burns sees a Bloomberg opinion columnist covering politics and policy He says that even if the Supreme Court abolishes the constitutional right to abortion it doesn't necessarily mean voting patterns will change He joined me now What's your opinion about what the Supreme Court is going to do about abortion rights Well it seems pretty clear that one way or another they are going to severely restrict abortion rights Most likely they're going to rule in favor of the Mississippi law here and it's quite possible that they will entirely overturn row And it's also possible that they will cut it back so much that it won't really actually have any effect So exactly how they wind up doing it that we don't know But the era of abortion rights at the national constitutional level is going to end Do you expect to see public reaction in opinion polls In the short run immediately after the decision is announced which probably won't be till June it's possible But after that people are likely to have the same opinions they had before And I think that the idea that there's going to be some sort of uprising against the court and against the decision is not all that likely People who are apt to be mobilized on this in the short term really already are mobilized on this So I don't know if we should expect a huge uprising or huge effects What about in the 2022 elections Democrats seem to think this is going to be a motivation factor for their base I would guess that it will be to some small extent the range of possibilities probably in terms of how much mobilization probably ranged from some to just a little Again most of the people who really are very committed to their positions on this issue are already plus sized and one of the things that is the case about
