"On the text line to the two people who don't know, Rokon, is Oprah and William Shatner. Turns out we've found too. That is that, that is true, and Oprah at least had a good reason not to roll conned who's that? What was her good reason not to know you know who I was? William just thought you were someone else Mr. shattner, right? That you're famous. I've actually interviewed mister shattner before I have not yet but been who remembers right in situations like that. I but Oprah and I interviewed that was before an interview with Oprah. Is that's where that came from? She was wearing the Mike. And they said your next interview his broken. And then, of course it was real conned. Who's that? Yeah. So basically, you know, my career is really been something of legend, I would say. That in other kind of legend the when the people got who was legendary they go. Oh, yeah. You're not gonna believe the number of times. He's screwed things up. I don't think that's true. Very funny. Sequence of events today with William Shatner who goes by Bill Shatner, who thought you were his friend, the director and left very nice things on your voicemail nice that you connected them row. I really you know, there's a lot of ways that could have gone, you could have made it a bit could call them on the air. Yes. But he's such a nice guy. You did the right thing. We did play the voice mails on the air and it worked out. Okay. Ten worked out okay for everybody, as far as anybody knows I think that for me is I was still like to know how it is that William Shatner had my phone number because it's a one in a trillion chance of just randomly dialing numbers that you're going to get mine, and then dialing it dialing and being so sure that that was the right number. Like getting go bang. Okay. Transcribed a number here. No, he just kept calling it. And even when you confronted him he said, that's not this is the number I have for Kevin. You've got the wrong number. No, that's my number. I don't know whatever it is. It was it was very, very funny. Everybody was a good sport about worked out. That's fine. Don't don't worry about nothing. All right. Tomorrow on the program. I it's a full, we get ready for Memorial Day, summer starts tomorrow, right here on this program, and there will be there will be absolutely. No useful information being imparted. No useful information on Fridays on this program throughout the summer. Everyone's checked out anyway. Right. Including the host. I think that's the most important important part of this, because, you know, daddy just can't play this anymore. I always, so. Many times I can tell you Trump's hump and anybody and people. Yeah. Yes or no isn't and I got all right. Whatever. All right. Kim, Gordon has got the news being brought to you by Marquette Bank mourners lining up at a Stickney funeral home this afternoon to pay their last respects to Marlin, Ocho alot Pez, the pregnant woman was strangled and her baby cut from her womb, the baby remained on life support her funeral scheduled for Saturday. "Headline White House officials fear the president's anger had the mullahs report. We're talking about the possible roots of that anger. He's been venting lately on Twitter would certainly fits a pattern. Question is what happens Thursday when the redacted report arrives in fear, loathing aside? How will the report be received by Democrats who control the house demanding to see more congressman Rokon is a democrat who sits on the house oversight committee. I spoke to him shortly before airtime. Congressman the fact that the president has been railing on Muller in recent days could he have been given some sort of a heads up on the content of report or do you think he's just? Covering his bases. Well, I think he's concerned. They White House did not calculate that their own White House counsel, cooperated with Muller and spent over thirty hours testifying Muller. And I think he's concerned about the obstruction of Justice issues, and what the White House counsel may have told Muller in terms of White House aides the reportedly being worried that the report might make the president angry them should they have had some expectation of privacy or should everyone who talked to Muller have assumed that what they say would one day become public. I think in an investigation like this. If you work for the president specially as the White House counsel, you should assume that this is going to become public is, especially when Muller as report was going to go to congress, and what's surprising to me is that the president know nor anyone on his team actually talked to the White House counsel or some of the aids to see what they told him. I'll or and this is why I think they're concerned because they're worried about what may have been shared their four categories than the bore has said he will use in terms of what to redact and one of them is about third parties. And it's not clear exactly what he means by that. I mean, he said it doesn't apply to to the president. Do you think it possibly applies to two members of the president's staff? Well, it shouldn't and bar has not been transparent in this whole process. I mean, ordinarily an attorney general would sit down with Jerry Nadler, and one of the Republicans in congress and come to an agreement about what should be redacted, and what shouldn't be redacted. And he hasn't followed any of that. And so what we now need to do is see the report see what the reductions are see if there's if there are fair, and then push to see more if he has not been transparent, how long I mean, if there are a lot of reductions that Democrats field or improper how long a battle that could very easily become a legal battle that could drag on for and some in the past in somewhat similar circumstances. Strike down for years. It could. And I don't think that's good for the country. I don't think that's good for the president. I mean, even if they're embarrassing details in the report, the president should be for getting it all out there and moving on. I mean, let let's get the facts out there. So that we can focus on issues that people care about. And the other thing is that Barr. Could at least show the report to Nadler, the chair of the judiciary committee into the speaker. And the minority leader, I don't need to see it a not every member of congress needs to see it. I think we should be able to. But at the very least in private share the report with the key committee chairs and the key leadership. Why is this important because you know, there are plenty you could look at this and say, well, look speaker Pelosi has all but ruled out impeachment proceedings because the Senate it wouldn't pass through the Senate the attorney general's personal counsel they've already ruled out criminal proceedings. So regardless of what the report says what's going to come of it. Well, it's important because the American people should know there was misconduct..

"The headline was you know, talks abruptly end. I let out of a breath of relief. It's twenty I woke up into in the morning to and and the TV was on. And there he was doing press calm. It was pretty scary. I wrote a wrote a post it's going to go up on my blog and two minutes when we hang up which is about it's not really being about Trump. It was Rokon introduced the resolution with a bunch of really good progressive calling for a formal end to the Korean war. And hoping that Trump would, you know, follow his advice and do it. And then then, you know, by the by the time, I finished writing it. I realized I had to put put the put thing in about why Trump failed in in Hanoi. Why that why that went so badly? Well, row Kana also was in on another Bill that was introduced today. It was ro Khanna and Barbara Lee in the house. Cory Booker in the Senate introduced the marijuana Justice acts of two thousand nineteen to remove marijuana from controlled substances act. So. It wouldn't be you know. That's the house version in the Senate version that went in today that was introduced by Cory Booker right with a co sponsored by Bernie and Elizabeth Warren, and what's your name from Cal Kamala Harris, so they're they're all behind it. But the thing is is that it was it was introduced into the Senate last year, and and maternal refused to let it revoted on. Well, and that's always the dangerous. Why we need to take back the Senate with that. We are at the end of another shell Howie Klein, it has always a pleasure. We'll keep an eye out on Sunday. And we'll be thinking of you. Thanks, howie. "Of doing this season. What's the? This movie you want to win our? Oh, yeah. And the critics come on. No, I just let it go right through the other. The critics say this really wasn't took. Well, this wasn't a good movie. This is not a great film. I don't care what you critics thing. As you should absolutely. As you should. I mean, I I value a lot of their points. And for me, it's just fun to watch. This is why maybe the reason that the Oscars were considering that fan favorite category, which they then eliminated because it was so stupid the way they rolled it out. And maybe ultimately, it's a bad idea. And maybe it's because they wanted to get more of the networks action and comic book movies in. But it is for a movie like that that you could say, okay, maybe the critics didn't love it. But the fans did. So let's put some stuff in there for them with ten nominees possible. You kinda have room for that. Anyway. And as at least one of our guests have said today only eight films for best motion picture they had room for more two fifty seven into northwestern medicine newsroom will go with the stories the batter let's say hi to. "And studio a Rokon Anna davlantes really excited to hear your show today. Guys. Thank you very much, John. We're excited to hear it as well. Because we have no idea what's going to happen to work. We're going to be sitting here with bated breath to figure it out. I have a list though. Yes of things, but I just don't think it's a hell of a list today. I've just kind of anxious to hear you get all wound up Rokon. Yeah. Though wolf. Have a new governor. We can now say governor Pritzker because I love him. Is that since the election? It's weird. I go. Yes, right. He's now governor yet deal was really interesting. We had the Republican GOP Senate leader that would Republicans who'd be Jobe GOP Senate leader Bill Brady, famed guy ran for governor of two times ago. He he was calling him on on on Friday Thursday Friday, he called him governor Pritzker the whole time that governor elect, and we all said, yes. I'm like her very interesting. Well, rounder, I could not have gotten out of town fast. So it's Alexis, by the way. Although he was sitting in the front row today. So. That's nice. We also have our own thoughts. A number of things. Adam Hogue is going to join us talk about the bears choosing Chuck Pagano as their new defensive coordinator. And what does that mean? It sounds kind of like a good idea. Like, I mean, it does seem like this sort of thing of a winning franchise would want to go do especially since it. They take them away from from Green Bay. That's a good deal. But what does it really really mean? Adam Hoge has a theory about this. And he will share it with us and the goose island football. I didn't you love the video all of these guys who the lead sound like Kevin. Yeah. School tough conditions. Oh, yeah. Did you see the conditions who could have made it? It was like slushy ic-. "Support plan now that package would provide various forms of support including software and maintenance to the Saudi Royal airforce at le- at six different airbases in the regime through December thirty first twenty twenty five. So we are going to continue apparently aiding and abetting the. Saudi government in in all the horrific things that they have done in Yemen. And we now have more concrete sense of how long that lasts because of TY T investigates reporting here, it will go through twenty twenty five and and I wanna point out that the heroes that lead this fight and almost one in congress to stop that funding for the war in Yemen. And the stop to support of the Saudis were Rokon on the house and Bernie Sanders in the Senate once again, the most progressive members of congress are the ones that either take action and get things done as they did was stop bazo sacked or come incredibly close to actually getting other getting the Republican vote with them and do more progressive legislation when the so-called moderates have gotten almost nothing done. So let's be honest about whose practical and pragmatic, but unfortunately, they they missed out by three votes in the house because of. Five corporate conservative Democrats voted with the Republicans so underside understand who's on whose side here. And I also want to help people visualize just how bad the situation in the m and is now there's been great photo journalism from the New York Times on this story. And I I wanna commend them for that. But in terms of broadcast journalism, I haven't really seen much coverage on this at all. And there hasn't been anything to help people visualize what's going on. So we're about to show you some images of you, many children and just the toll that this war in Yemen is taking on them. These are innocent civilians, obviously, but the images are difficult to look out. So I want to give you a warning before we go to them. But this is what Donald Trump supports. This is what Donald Trump is complicit in. It is horrendous the famine that's taking place, the tens of thousands of children who have already lost their lives as a result of this war. I it's so heartbreaking. So let me explain the numbers. So fourteen million people are on the precipice of dying from hunger in Yemen. It's unbelievable that in the year twenty eighteen that millions of people might die from hunger. Five million of them are kids. It has already begun the deaths have begun the famine has been around for a while. Eighty five thousand kids have already starved to death in Yemen. So they didn't have to the Saudis blocked a port that brings in food and medicine. That's why they're starving. And and so they control the country and the Saudis don't, but the Saudis control the port so the country's starving. And so we we should be incredibly upset about what happened in Jamal kashogi the Saudi government chop them up beheaded him and cetera. But we should be even more upset about eighty five thousand kids who starved to death because of the bar Barrick regime of Saudi Arabia and our eight of them. And again, this TYP story proves we unin bay a undeterred by this massacre. That's happening in Yemen. The United States military still working with the Saudis all the way through twenty twenty-five. And by the way who benefits. In this case, it's a company called tactical communications group. So a defense contractor is still making money while those kids started remember why we launched bombs on Syria a little while back who was last year and Brian Williams called the bomb spectacular and beautiful and the media's celebrated the Donald Trump was being tough. And finally, he's the president..

"But now, here's a another fun part. Okay. So next week. I'll Thursday we are going to do what is next for the progressive movement. What should we fight for now? You know, some of the policies, but we're going to prioritize wash should come first. What should we do strategically? How much should we fight for how much should we try to push Democrats is easy to push republics? Although not apparently for the rest of the Democrats, never pushed Republicans, but for progressive that's easy. But how much should we push other Democrats? Right. So we're gonna have a whole range of progressives from very socialists. Okay. Some of them seem to make arguments that are. Borderline communist anyway in that Kim place their arts. Okay. Sherry to to establish a little bit more establishment t but really, you know, we're so we got the whole spectrum of progresses. But obviously, you know, every sport a Wolfpack, just Democrats, and you know, what younger stands for. I think we're also arguably the mainstream progressives, these progressives as in Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren people who actually represent us, obviously Alexandria, CASA of Cortez et cetera. So that's gonna be a big night Rokon is going to be here in many other guests, and they're gonna tell us, and he's inside the house is one of the leaders of the progressives. And he's gonna tell us what priorities they have. And what order they're going to go in and how much they're going to push democratic leadership. So that is really interesting. Make sure you check that on Thursday night. And then like I mentioned earlier in the live show John as his show damage report. That's our morning show. And now that is available. "He does sports afternoons for us on the Rokon show with the blonde you can follow him on Twitter at k Powell seven twenty and let's get back to it. Hey, Kevin the the bears first place Chicago Bears. Let's talk a little bit about this has been kind of a fun season. So far. Yes. First time they've had sole possession of first place through week nine since two thousand twelve so they're in the driver's seat year in which we thought was going to be very competitive division. I think there are some good teams here that the Vikings Detroit in Green Bay of all had some bad losses as have the bears. But it's it's very tight. And we've got a streak here at three straight division ups for the bear. And all three are coming within an eleven day stretch all day stretch. So this is this is really could kinda define the season in where the bears go because he got wyans Vikings in primetime. And then lions again in prime time. If you if you want to consider eleven o'clock on thanksgiving where the whole, you know, everybody's watching. Everybody's gonna wanna get academia. Yeah. Yeah. You got three games coming up here. And. They're big for. Sure. Yeah. Well, did you did you expect them to to you know, to to have this kind of run? I mean, you know, they're a couple of disappointing games. We want to talk about the Green Bay game. But there's a couple of disappointing games in there. But but there was a blowout last week. Yeah. I mean, there's always blind optimism. The fans, you know in training camp and things like that. But I I'm actually not that surprised. I mean, if you look at talents, especially on the defensive side of the ball they're doing what they should do. And they had a couple of weeks you want to call them that you know, definitely Miami. But the climax injury hasn't helped. For the most part the bears are kinda what I thought they were going to be. Okay. Danny green. I know stuck in my head out every now, and again, I can't help it, Nick. Everyday life. They are thought. But seriously, they are like a really good defense. And that a quarterback who has looked pretty good at times. But he's also had some inaccurate throws bears bears. Offenses averaging the bears in general averaging over thirty four points per game over the past five games. That's that's top five in the NFL. So scoring points up fourteen and I'm coming on the defensive side of the ball last week, but they're doing enough on offense and the defense is playing well, and and the bears are looking pretty good right now said these next three weeks and eat health of Khalil Mack weighs heavily on where this team goes. Yeah. Over the next six seven weeks here. Yeah. The next three weeks are really big they're huge for the for for the bears. I know everybody is going to be watching. So speaking of football. Let's go over to north western having a great year. They lost the Notre Dame this past week and you were at the game, correct? Yeah. What atmosphere we were doing a show from their leading up to it? Because there's just such that buzz Notre Dame in town. I mean that was the first time since nineteen seventy six Notre Dame at played at right, right? Yeah. Yeah. They've they've played a good amount of times. But the the pass the previous two times they played which were considered. I guess northwestern. Home games were at soldier. They weren't at Ryan field. So nine hundred seventy Sixers last time there man, it was it was just an awesome atmosphere because. In south southbound, but it's one hundred ten hundred twenty miles that separates the two schools. Chicago means so much to both of those universities for a lot of different reasons. Sale. Right. Right. North north western Boston and northwestern. They take care of business. The next few weeks and went two or three in the big ten championship. Yeah. So that's been sort of a funnier. They had a little rough start there to go. But they together four wins over the last five weeks. So they're pretty good shape. Yeah. Well, David seems happy. That's all that matters. Say that again, I said Dave, and it seems happy. So that's all that matters. That's all that ever mattered. Davis happy. So, you know, they get Saturday, but they fought hard, and that's a that's a tough like Notre Dame's number three in the country. So yeah, not northwestern. Put up a fight at home and luggage said there, they can they take care of business over the final few weeks to play in the big ten championship game. And I think you can call that a successful. You're absolutely let's talk before we get out of here. Let's talk baseball real quick picked up the option for hamels Strope and can Tana. How do you feel about that? The no brainer. They're going to pick this one up in the next one because they are so team friendly. That was a big reason. The cubs wanted a trade for containers. Because he makes so much sense. Contractually Cole hamels. There was maybe so questions that maybe they would try to buy them out and then restructure the deal. Maybe even at a second year under the deal. But that makes sense I let y'all three deals made sense for the cubs shops. And so it's been good for them for so long out of the bullpen. Hamels was great last year trade for me. You're not going to get rid of out after what you traded for him. So they all three mates Rizzo gets the gold glove about that. That's that's deserved. Solidly consistent. You just couldn't rely on them over there. So I think well deserved for results to straighten up. Yeah. And then by as is among the finalists for MVP. Yeah. You're not gonna win. It's probably going to be Chris Christian yelich. You're lucky. Sorry. It's salted. No, no, no. No. No. It's true. Absolutely. No question about it. Yeah. But both great years for for for both guys, really. And you know, I'm really tired of the New England area winning as many championships as they do. Now. I mean, it's just it's it's ridiculous. And he was eleven championships. Now in the last fourteen years, something like that. It's. Listen, I know Boston Red Sox fans would listen they they suffered second only to us in sandwich. Sponsored suffer for a long time. But man, they should just leave those barriers and those like St. guards up in the parade route for all these teams because you're probably saved the city for money. Right. They're having a run over there. Many are all right. All right. Kevin. Well, listen, man, always fun to talk to you on my show. And I appreciate you taking the time to.

"Agree more i mean i didn't watch john hannah coming out you'll remember who john hannah was too young but john hannah was incredible from alabama this kid to me is not only a pro bowl but this could be a future hall of fame got you pass him you pass chub and then you pass my favorite player we'll get to later rokon smith to me rokon smith is the best player in the draft he's the best player in the draft i had shove their earlier but the more you watch smith he's the best player in the draft and when i look at these mocks and see row consummate going at twelve that just tells you that really nobody really knows so when you take these quarterbacks and you pass away from one of these three players that i think are locked pro bowl players i mean i'm talking like that you could put barkley in there but barina injuries kinda sometimes backs barclays a great player does he have pro bowl potential absolutely but those three to me because of their positions are locks and they get long term contracts you walk away from those guys like just hypothetically like say we were playing in a room like say the brown you know they got all these extra picks why not pick you could pick chub or rokon the first bic you could come back and pick nelson the third fourth pick right and then trade a bunch of picks trying to get up in the ten twenty and maybe you pick maybe get lamar maybe you get rosen and you could end up with three of these guys that's an option but it seems like cleveland has already set to the fact that they will take a quarterback i it's been a defective statement that they have to because they miss his previous previous dress drafts we've talked about you know desha we talked about the fact they missed carson wentz now it seemed like they had to take that quarterback and everything that's reported out of there.

"Yes you see the drivers walking is based clearly they don't they don't want you to know who is driving this jacco where they struck a regan see you mr we can see you all right cnn sara murray thank you so much and we we're back no democratic congressman rokon a of the armed services committee so congressman earlier today one of your republican colleagues congressman rooney congressman francis rooney of florida called for a purge at the fbi uh this is something he had said before he said maybe he wasn't artful but he certainly was talking about really looking at folks who were inside the fbi and the doj and he didn't back off of his criticism there so just take a listen you say you're not trying to discredit the fbi or the justice department i want to talk to you about why you have criticism of them but first are you are you sure you want to be throwing a word like purge around well it but be a pretty strong word i'm not maybe the most nuance political person in the world coming from a career in business but i'm pretty frustrated that all the things that have come out by the stroszeck and or and what may or may not have taken place in general this well let me let me mackay struck moeller remove struck or was demoted i mean so what is the evidence what's the evidence then were the biases impacted this investigation when the very data points you're putting their actually action has been taken against those individuals.

"Blocking access to websites for commercial reasons not necessarily ideological censorship but the result might be the same are we really likely to see that that's unlikely because it's going to inspire a huge outrage the american public and that's because people won't have a choice but to use the internet provider that is you know doing such nefarious censorship uh but you know what we are likely to see though it which does happened in other countries in his actually legal now in the united states will probably likely to see it happen in a much more pronounced in escalated way are things like mobile providers offering free access to certain apps representative rokon khanna tweeted a picture of what an internet mobile plan in portugal looks like uh and that's because in the eu they do have net neutrality rules but they don't have rules against a process called zero rating which allows like a mobile provider or your your your cell phone internet provider to not charge you to access certain websites so you buy the internet there for you phone you can add an additional package it says once stir internet has expired you also get free access to you know spotify or i tunes or apple music or something like that or you that's he by the streaming package and after your internet is used up you still get access to net flicks that's not a neutral practice and we might start to see a lot more of that that means that those telecom companies are essentially deciding who gets to be in that bundle of you know apps that you only have access to and who doesn't and that's basically going to drenched the power of those already popular apps so april if big companies are going to carve of the internet into a series of apps like you predict does it also means that somebody is going to come along and have i don't know freedom net they're gonna market the fact that they have unfettered full freedom access to the internet mike just by that it'll be great if consumers could vote with their wallet in that case right so that say they don't like the fact that at t is uh you know speeding up access to.

"Wtmj rokon and you coming up in about about fifteen minutes so we'll talk about bill maher he apologize for using the inward on his tv show we'll we'll talk about the fact that the is time for this word go away and we'll we'll talk about why in just a few minutes less than fifteen minutes right here on wtmj we're talking about the london terror attack and you know was interesting say it we were talking during the break in now it every single tear related attack is back but what's interesting about this one was the fact that seven people died forty eight were injured and there are still several people who were injured that have life threatening injuries but this one was relatively low in terms of the numbers of relatively small compared to what we have been seen and maybe perhaps because these these guys were using knives when they got out of the van used the van in in they and they use knives and also do the fact that the police once this happened police responded to this right away and in the day the lead responded and they put down the the attackers and then they went and carried out raids early early sunday morning and they've made twelve arrest so far so hats off to to the london police who were really on top of this considering this could have been a whole lot worse but have we become numb to this though because it because it happened in london have we become known to a so when you when you watch on television do you say oh thank goodness is not here or if it's not hear it doesn't really doesn't really affect me or or you are you mine four wherever this is wherever this happens for one four seven.
