"roger goodell" Discussed on The Business of Sports With Andrew Brandt

"Oh my goddess naked so much money than all report you can add up the salaries a pet mahomes and erin and tom brady. Russell wilson still doesn't equal sixty four million for the ear to me all that is just whatever a roger goodell making new one hundred twenty eight million over two years does not surprise me in the least talking about someone presiding over to the major deals done in the history of the sport both in the past year or eighteen months. Those deals are a labor deal with the players in media deals with the networks. Those two deals have set owners up for untold riches. salad days. unlike they've ever seen before and it's all set it's secured it's not going. We're through the early twenties thirties. Let me explain. Goodell oversaw negotiations on the labour deals. Both in two thousand eleven and in two thousand twenty. Those labor deals have risen profits for nfl owners to great heights. Those labor deals have been owner friendly coming off two thousand six when gene upshaw. Paul tagliabue negotiated deal. That was very player. Friendly once cadel got in. He changed all that under his stewardship. They have to very team. Friendly labor deals on the media side as we know. The nfl needed to things to go to media. They got labor peace which they got a seventeenth game which they both got out of the players they go to lay. They go to media and they negotiate these fabulous deals with the old media. Abc i'm sorry. Espn cvs fox nbc. And with new media. Amazon for thursday night football. Those deals will total one hundred ten billion dollars a b. billion dollars over the next twelve years. So let's put this in perspective hundred. Ten billion media deals on the largest revenue source team friendly labor deal on the largest player of expense keeping that down and you've got really strong value for the owners. Let's put it in perspective right away the cap last year. Not even talking about this year when it's down from the pandemic was a little under two hundred million dollars. That's how much teams pay players. According to the salary cap the one time national distribution from the league to each team based on national revenues was three hundred and nine million so right away. there's one hundred nine million more in media then in player costs for the one year that is going to exacerbate. Media deals are going to skyrocket s. Two player deals will see. The cap may not even go to two hundred million next year sat averages between two hundred and two hundred fifty million over the next six seven years. What do you think these media deals are going to average when they're looking at one hundred ten billion over twelve years. It's almost eleven billion a year. You know that is a lot more than three hundred million to each team just from media. So roger goodell has oversaw. Now you can say anyone could have done it. Owners really did it..

Jon Gruden Resigns as Raiders Coach Over Decade-Old Offensive Emails

"John Gruden has always been kind of a wild child in the NFL always been a little bit of a loose cannon, if you will. And I believe he was also he was also the coach of the Oakland Raiders in like the 90s. And then he went to the Buccaneers and led them to the Super Bowl very complicated. But then he rejoined the Raiders in 2018 after he was an analyst on Monday Night Football. Do you remember those things he used to sit down with the quarterbacks? And it was like Gruden's corner. I've never been a big fan of Jon Gruden. I'll be very honest. One in 2002, that's right, my memory's not too bad. I'm not going to be an apologist for Jon Gruden. Okay? I'm sure he lives a complicated life like most people in the NFL. But this recent saga involving in his resignation slash termination is disgusting. And the national Football Association is in many different ways. In enterprise that is built on a House of Cards. The entire structure of how many of the teams are filed as nonprofits on how almost every stadium is built thanks to taxpayer dollars. There's a lot of corruption that exists in the national football, the National Football League. And so it came out a couple days ago that John Gruden is going to be fired, or it has to speak out for his racist and homophobic emails over ten years ago. And I shrugged my shoulders and I actually didn't know where this one was going to go. Because John Gruden signed a ten year 100 million dollar deal with the Oakland Raiders. And now so he technically resigned whatever he says, I have resigned as the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. I love the Raiders and do not want to be distraction. Thank you to all the players coaches and staff and fan fans of raider nation. I'm sorry I never meant to hurt anyone, John Gruden. And so it was revealed in some of these emails. And based from what I've said, seen should have said something's probably not no, was he joking around in private in a context that none of us can understand? Yes. He incited Joe Biden, insulted Joe Biden I can't even say what he called Joe Biden on air. It's kind of hilarious. Called Roger Goodell, a certain name. I'm no fan of Roger Goodell. So if this whole thing is like a Roger Goodell, apology tour, but here's what really matters. Here's the question. In the National Football League, do they ever allow people to do bad things and continue to participate? Like murder. How about rate Ray Lewis and his legacy of the unsolved double murder? Or how about you remember this one? You remember ray rice, who literally punched his fiance in an elevator? It was an elevator, right? Which gained total notoriety following the indictment he was released by the ravens and suspended, and now rice would be reinstated after he successfully appealed the league's decision. And this whole thing with John Gruden is this question of should you be judged by things you have said in private ten years ago to destroy your current

Why Barcelona Legend Messi Is Leaving

"Are finally going to mention what was the biggest sports story on Planet Earth this weekend. It was not anything that happened at the Olympics, and it was not anything that happened in Canton, Ohio, and it was not anything that happened on a baseball diamond near or far from you. It was and I will give new no 30 seconds to explain to everyone who doesn't already know why it's such a big deal. It was Leon l messy the greatest soccer player in the world and his tearful divorce from Barcelona, where he has made himself a legend. And I will admit new. No, I need the education on this. Tell everybody why this happened and why it is the biggest sports story on planet Earth. The simplest thing is Barcelona's finances are so messed up, um, that they can't afford them afford. Afford him. The league wouldn't allow them to sign Messi back even at a 50% discount. Um and I've tried to equate what it would truly be. It would kind of be like with Brady leaving, um, the Patriots. But if Roger Goodell said, Hey, he's not allowed to come back. That's the thing like Sometimes I read about things that happened in international soccer and European soccer in particular, and I am the first to admit, I don't know almost anything about it. I didn't grow up following it. I know enough about it to cover it for television, which I've done for years, but I don't know the ins and outs. And every now and again, things like this happened and I find myself thinking. How do they deal with this? Like what kind of system is this? If this stuff happened in American sports, we'd lose our minds like what's going on right now on the first take in

Inside The Russell Wilson-Seahawks Rift

"Years russell. Wilson has been wanting to throw the ball more and at the start of this year. It finally happened russell. Wilson was not good in the first half of the twenty twenty season. He was excellent deep cap touchdown. Seattle you run down there and set in his answer. Any better than that was fourth in yards per attempt. Weeks one through nine i. In passing. touchdown percentage was second in passer rating. Wilson keeps as default talk. He was legit. The best player in the league madden gave him a ninety nine overall rating during the season because he was cooking notion as he throws an accident. Edi feeds defensive player of the years like russell. Lula's legitimately the best guy in football games of the season then week nine arrived and they had this game against the buffalo bills that you recently wrote about. Can you tell us what happened in that game. And afterwards what happened is russell had to cook in the kitchen. Just kind of just caught on. Fire his paycheck wine with a sack at a takeaway from russell wilson. I actually watched that game with a former cr defensive and cliff april and teased talking me through it. And he's like russ's off he's trying to do too much and i think turned it over like four times. He threw a pick on the goal. Line throws for the jordan with tyco. I think that really turned the tables for the whole team. After that loss where they gave up forty four points and turned it over a bazillion times and got embarrassed in buffalo. Well what i would tell you that. I don't recognize that game. We haven't seen the look like that and it's a game that i don't have any place in my brain for. He told us he didn't even have any space in his brain for that game. That's very important subjects right like the fact that he considered that not seahawks. Football was influential the rest of the year. Well the following week against the rams things. I guess only got worse. Wilson throws and the other one four darius williams second game. I know that there are better days ahead. I'll use a baseball now but sometimes you go up to the plate you know and you don't have your way today mike. You and our colleagues. Mike sando jason jank's wrote about a meeting. That happened shortly after that loss to the rams can you take us inside that meeting room and just explain what went down russia's meeting with the coaches normal game planning type of meeting and he has suggestions he is giving input usually does and his suggestions just weren't dismissed. There were dismissed in a way that russell didn't feel appreciate it. And i think that is really important. I'm sure they disagree in every meeting ever but in this particular instance rust belt that he was not being appreciated so rushed stormed out was basically this idea that. How dare anyone in this building. Be dismissive of my ideas. I am of the quarterback was almost like kevin durant warriors when he was like no way up. I'm kevin durant russell wilson and he rustled perceives him to be someone who has succeeded. In spite of what's been around him not because of running for his life making the pro bowl with battle lines perceive that to be like the story of his career. And you get to week eleven. And it's like do. Just chill out. We got this no. You don't don't get it. I got it and that forced him out the door. Russell in the second half of the season was which is not himself like he was twenty eighth in yards per attempt in his final eight games he was sixteenth. In a touchdown percentage nineteenth in passer rating. These are bad numbers. These are not just like below average twenty nine yards per attempt man that was lower than the cincinnati bengals. Even when the circumstances are bad around russell he's been good enough to elevate situation still played inefficient level and twenty twenty was the first time it was like. Wow he's not able to elevate the lack of talent or execution of preparation around him and it produced like some of the worst numbers of his career certainly produced the worst playoff game of his career against the rams in the wild round sitting meeting big. Who's going into other sack four sacks two takeaways the interception return for the touchdown and floyd now all right. Let's fast forward a few weeks to the super bowl. The seahawks have been knocked out by the rams in the wildcard round and russell. Wilson is at super bowl. Fifty five in tampa bay sitting with none other than commissioner. Roger goodell mike. Tell us what you found in your reporting about russell. Wilson's experience at the super bowl. You know it's really interesting. Because i tweeted during the super bowl. That antonio brown caught a touchdown from tom brady in front of russell. Wilson there is the pass for the touchdown. What drive a super bowl. Winning drive that brady's only done throughout his whole career. I kind of just said it like star cast the as a joke. Not really thinking about how russell fell and then as our reporting i was like okay so i i was right like he is really upset. And it's so many factors. There is the fact that tom brady is in. The super bowl is the fact tom. Brady's they're playing pine. A good line is the fact that tom brady is playing in a system. That gives him some atonomy like got to pick players gronk. Antonio brown is the fact that mahomes is there again laying for again in a system that like essentially like his talents. The last time also played in the super bowl loss of tom brady seven years later prime many years. Tom brady's back. I suppose in a soup. Kitchen fuming so during the superbowl. He's texting his quarterback coach. And just close. Friend jake heaps. He's a local radio guy. Here jake to set it on the radio. He's talking about how russ was missed during the game texting him. They'll look the he had was in reflective of the text messages. I was receiving russell wilson. Just ultimately the overall sentiment was that he was mad that he was not lying in this thing and then russell spoke to the shortly after the game show. What's up with our line. You see that. Winning requires a good line and the gist of peace response. As far as i was told is about faith. And just you know we got this. And that just wasn't good enough for us

Titans playing their next game after no new COVID-19 cases for two days

"Where things stand on on the titans playing their next game and also the investigation as to why. It. the titans players decided to hold their own practices after being told to go home Tom. Well, that's what the NFL in the NFL. PA. have been looking into and they. reviewed surveillance video they have conducted interviews I can tell you that with people in the organization as well as with players trying to get to the bottom of you know, how did those unauthorized offside workouts and I'm told there are multiple involving multiple physician groups. How did those come together they've also looked into whether or not masks were being weren't consistently They've looked into whether tracking devices were worn consistently and if violations. are found in certainly seems like at least on the workout front than you would expect, there's going to be disciplined on potentially harsh discipline i. mean there's only been truly one outbreak. The Patriots have had three cases over the past week here but the titans have had twenty three over two plus weeks, and the fact you still had people in the past couple of days in terms of players testing positive lends credence to the idea that. There was continued community spread after the facility closed because the players continue to get together on their own having said all that in terms of their ability to play this game on Tuesday I am told there is a possibility that the titans facility for the first time since September twenty-ninth could reopen as soon as tomorrow afternoon, they could be back to work do a walk through maybe tomorrow do a practice on Sunday you're ready to. Play on Tuesday, and even if they have an additional positive tests it was emphasized to me today. The NFL is looking at the entirety of this situation I mean Roger Goodell playing Md. here. I'm talking about Dr Al and Sills, they have a committee of epidemiologists to look at this as well as the committee of GM's and coaches and players who are deciding some of the competitive aspects of this. There were a through the contact tracing. A number of titans players that had identified as high risk close contacts with some of the recently infected individuals. So there is a likelihood if not an expectation that you will continue to have additional positive tests in the coming days prior to that game on Tuesday and the same thing with the Patriots there were multiple on told patriots players who been identified as close high risk contacts with the phone more. So again, a likelihood if not. An. Expectation could have additional positive test, but the League is not do. There's no hard rule that if you have a test on this amount before kickoff, we have to cancel every situation is being taken on a case by case basis and they're doing what they can and trusting the protocols to try to make these Games happen on Monday and Tuesday

The Real Reason NFL Ratings Are (Slightly) Down

"So Dan. Let's start the story back in June is been ten days since George Floyd was brutally murdered. To actually. Listen to you. We had this prominent NFL players put out that video about black lives matters. Behalf. Football League. This is what we the players would like to state. Leave black lives matter. And then Commissioner Roger Goodell doing what the players had requested. We the National Football League emit we wrong for not listening to NFL players earlier and encourage all to speak out in peacefully protests. Read the National Football League Aleve black lives matter was their concern within the NFL at that time about the league. So openly embracing the black lives matter movement and concern that it could impact. TV ratings when the season began I think without a doubt. There was concern commissioner goodell made that video without consulting the owners many of whom in the past taken a hard line on kneeling intertwining politics, social issues and sport. We have more on the story that is dominating the National Football League the anthem protests Jerry Jones was Adam Sunday that any player that does not stand for the national. Anthem will not play Jones clarified that statement telling our Chris sentiment within the NFL that good for business is no intersection of politics and sports. Now that boat seems to have clearly have sailed not just in the NFL, but the rest is sport but I would be surprised if ratings fall, we don't begin to hear some voices from within the NFL saying we've gone too far on opening. Night of the season, the chiefs versus Texans, we saw players link arms in a moment of Solidarity Ladies and gentlemen please join us in a moment of silence dedicated to the ongoing fight or equality in our country, and we've seen a number of players putting names of victims of police brutality on their helmets. What's bend the public response to those moves? Obviously in Kansas City there was some booing. Depending on which media outlet you read it was either a lot of booing or a little booing. But there was some booing and interviewing the fans who booed it's hard to know why whether they disapproved of the message whether they disapproved adjust anything interfering with sports but there will always be that voice saying we don't want is social issues politics intersect was fort. So after week one, there were reports that NFL ratings were down though it turns out those reports weren't entirely accurate and a whole bunch of analysis followed, Dan, what was some of the commentary around those early reports were obviously in a politically charged Environment, and there are those who want to scribe lower sports ratings to the political movements that have intersected with sports. So you saw headlines and certain conservative publications woken NFL ratings down sixteen seventeen percents the doubleheader on Monday night football, the Sunday night football game, the Thursday night kickoff game those were down monstrously large over last season. Why is that to me? The answer is pretty simple. My hypothesis is when you get woke, you go broke but everybody in this environment of trump versus bite in republican versus Democrat. Every wants to interpret sports ratings through that Lens football's boring as hell, it's just not the same pattern. Used to. Say could you keep it away from football game? Now say, could you possibly do it during football game? We have some free time when really the reasons for ratings rise and fall have very little to do in my opinion with the political news of the day.

"Dave one step. One of the Great Storytellers Dolphins bears head coach. Funny Funny Funny Guy. He'll be joining us. I bet you smoking a cigar right now, Naples Florida. I know Dave Well Smoking smoking a cigar. Naples Florida coach wants that was the first celebrity I ever met. Where'd you meet him? Chicago I want a art contest that was really young like eight or something and I got to go to Chicago, and he was at one of those remember telethons sure they bring all celebrities in the phone, so he was there and I started freaking out. Coach. He's one of the truly great guys in our business. Just he's just great. So, funny I even I used to live in Connecticut I, My wife and I. You know got a place down in Naples Florida. And we just fell in love with it. Just love it. Get up in the morning, right little bicycle. Sex L., so chill and there used to be this bar named handsome Harry's and it was all. Of like good looking people and stuff you know, but older kind of sophisticated older crowd and I'm talking to want out one time and I like I got a place in Florida and he does wear. I said Naples. He Goes I. got a place there. He says. Where do you like to eat I? I like to go have a cocktail at handsome Harry's. He goes I own it. I'm like what what are the and he's been sold it but I was like I. It's it. It looked like once at you. Know Gentlemen handsome. Coach. He's really he's one of the all-time great human beings so. Listen social media's rough and I. May I bait the way I attack. Social media just have fun I. Don't take myself seriously. I can't roll my eyes at it, but I do put some stuff out, so it gets tweets and stuff and my social media team likes it, but it's hard to have an opinion. That goes against the grain. I mean who wants to deal that crap. Your phone blown up. And so people basically in most people in life for followers, anyway so on twitter. It's just followers. Very few people are willing to say now. The opposite is true. Roger Goodell's a great commissioner. Twitter you're wrong. You just keep following. He's no good, but he's more successful than you or anybody in your family or anybody you know, and he runs the NFL, really really well. and. You can't say that on social media. Everybody loves Adam Silver. More woke. Nobody likes Roger Goodell. And I look at the schedule. It's just great. I mean do you notice this in week to every team? Playing each other has a bye week meaning they can move it. No Division Games in week three and four meaning virus they can move it. September is very malleable, also super bowl in Tampa. There's a two week to week space, but before the Super Bowl so get a break there. They can move that around. Lots of flexibility and the NFL's really well run. I don't think they get everything, right. Anybody that criticises goodell for as missteps as somebody. That's never had a big boy job. It's hard lead Canadians like everybody. They don't even like their prime minister. We didn't like Barack. Obama wants because he wore a beige suit. People just don't like leaders. Social media's vile, an angry and anonymous. We don't like anybody. We don't like any of our commissioners and I, like I think all of our commissioners. Into like Ivy League schools. They're successful people. I like all of them Adam, silver sometimes is a little too pro player, but that's the NBA. It's always kind of in the NBA, but I met. All these commissioners met all of them. I like all of them. They're all smart but goodell gets just clobbered. Do you know how hard it is to run the NFL? Regulated regulated violence. You got the gambling hangover it. It's absurdly popular. You've got network. You're on every network. You got every network executive and president, and the Murdoch's and this group net group, and they're all asking questions, and it's hard and players make mistakes and players are young, and there's domestic violence, any kind of butchered it and then the capital. These are hard hard again. Canada likes everybody. They don't like their prime minister, but I looked at the super bowl. This year I thought join I agreed. It's one of the best five hours of TV. It was is incredible incredible. Hickup I thought free agency. This year he got blowback was terrific I. Thought the draft I'm still we work in television. Televisions hard it anyone point join I. could triple Redan wire innocuously off the air. They went four days on that draft. On zooms and it was brilliant from basements. You got to see the families and the kids. It was so heart warming and I thought the schedule yesterday that got all sorts of little opportunities in early season to move it. You just gotTa. But nobody wants to say that about him. Nobody's saying he's perfect. No I. President I love I loved Reagan disagree with a lot. I loved Obama. Disagree with a lot, but by and large. This league is so well run, and it's hard and I'll tell you this. Here's an here's an advantage to the NFL. States now we've got unemployment rate of fifteen percent. States need additional revenue because these budgets are all going to be deficits. States are going to pass gambling. Legislation Fast you thought pro sports gambling legalized. Supreme Court was moving in the right direction. It's going to be overnight. You're going to see states approve why they need additional revenue for their states so good luck taken on the NFL when sports is legalized and forty eight to fifty states in the next six months. They are all going to sign off on it for additional revenue for the states they're. They're going to be all behind it. And what sport do we the NFL? But I looked at that schedule release yesterday. No league turns a combine a draft and schedules into must watch television and nobody wants to admit Roger. Goodell's good perfect. No flawless. No made mistakes, yes! But Canadians don't like their prime minister and they like everybody. It's an indication, an illustration of how hard it is to run a country, a business or a league. I think Adele's great. I've met him two times dinner with him had drinks with him. He could not he unlike a lot of powerful people. He's a listener. He just asked questions. He wants to know answers. What do you think? Why do you think that he is just constantly curious about how to get better? And I watched this thing last night, and I looked at the schedule and I'm like Man Bravo. By the way the Patriots. Now many of you. Would suggest that I'm a Patriot Toma. I. Of course, am not they just have the best coach and the best quarterback for like fifteen twenty years. But I looked at their schedule, and when I say they're going to go six and ten or seven and nine I get nothing but pushback. You look at the schedule you tell me. Where the nine and ten wins are. Jarret stidham week to at.

"Roger Goodell okay well as under joins us on WGN radio to talk a little bit about that little you're on the air how are you today Asia I'm doing great thank you very much for having me you're currently the director of government programs and services at to the stars academy what was your job relative to this video how do you know much about that little show search for a better part of a decade I was part of a small program within the United States military apparatus in the Pentagon call eight eight two stood for the advanced aerospace threat identification program and while they're my colleagues and myself our job was to study any type of stranger anomalous vehicle that was either in US airspace over over a controlled the combat operations can you describe for our audience what that sound was that we just heard what what would we see when we watch this video well what do you see what you hear two different things what you're hearing is the exasperation by train pilots these are the best of the best in some cases our pilots go through special training called Top Gun and they're trained to recognize the difference between an F. sixteen of them may twenty five and S. U. twenty to twenty miles away and what you hear in the audio is the exasperation of these pilots chasing something that they have no idea what it is and it's it's flying really fast right over the water and you hear them basically being vectored in and the mission part of the other users do what is I think a lot of drones and other guys is no way that's not a drought and we know it's not a drone because we did have a drone flying in the air space at that time what you see in the video is different when she is a a a what looks to be like a black and white screen it is actually done former forty from the aircraft and an attempt to try to log on to a target and it's only towards probably midway through the media you actually see this by looking through a little white dot or kick tac flying back to the pretty fast paced relative their position and the struggle for a little while trying to log onto it but they finally achieved a lock on this thing and they're just completely blown away but I also think it's important if I may just very quickly bring up the fact that there's other videos as well and you hear that same level of desperation by pilots who are trained to be cool under pressure and they know what an aircraft looks like they know what a balloon looks like they know what what a missile looks like and obviously these things are none of those when did this happen where did this happen well when it is first came out I wasn't allowed to to discuss that that was still considers sensitive information about now to become public that to be the three videos one occurred in two thousand four than the other ones were much more recent in the two thousand fourteen and fifteen time frame and the most recent videos were taken by by pilots off of the USS Roosevelt has clinic gonna release this is the Pentagon's is the U. S. government allowing the release of these are they've been leaked somehow yeah I need to get his number no they were they were never leaks in fact we bought two and half years ago put in a a specific request through the official Pentagon program office which is called Dr I will go into a long acronym you know we love our acronyms and and and government but if the office has designated to basically review information and material prior to which going out and so they released a video to prove the release of the videos and images one out what you see now is enough but actually Dortmund by the department of defense especially that is stated for the record that yes eighty videos authentic and they're real from military platforms and be that they are unidentified flying objects so that's a big deal the lady did this about a year and a half ago they admitted that these were their videos of these came off of their their weapon platforms in that they were unidentified but to have the department of defense truly I think this is a story to come out and say yep you're right the leaders are authentic and there are the others and frankly we have no idea what what the offers or what body of water with a flying well in the first E. L. again you're approaching your audience don't have those videos in front of the three of them one was taken off the coast of San Diego in the Pacific and then the other ones were in the Atlantic theater so how fast do you think those times are gone on Wednesday how fast for the glory any idea how fast they were going low yeah I I mean it depends if some cases we we had the same estimated speeds all about thirteen thousand miles an hour and that's that's attached to an altitude of about five thousand feet and that's tremendous because the lower your hands here the more friction there is and then maybe some of your audiences have heard recently that are some of our adversaries like Russia have developed hypersonic weapons while these hypersonic weapons deployed at past reply very very high and they're still only cheating maybe five thousand miles an hour okay way too many things and twice that wait a minute thirteen hundred to thirteen thousand thousand thousand so mocking hundred mark one is about seven hundred K. C. level so you're talking marquees that are in the double digits apps that you're correct and that's for me I think is what you're telling and also they're doing looking white turns they're doing the instantaneous acceleration they're doing things that aircraft I don't normally do and I think that's something that your audience needs to okay when you're looking at these type of videos I understand but then the only thing it could be I mean so that's not the Chinese or the Russians or the Japanese and it's not us that the technology I'm just gonna I'm just going to throw this out there does not exist to go thirteen thousand miles an hour it almost sea levels and make right turns so the only thing it could be is an optical illusion that's something you know the sun could travel that fast light can move that fast a you know a cloud can parked and suddenly a ray of light could zip across the sky we've seen that loot how is it not that well because our our team look at those things look a weather phenomenon we look at artifacts in the camera lens but the bottom line is that these these are actually being witnessed by pilots so not only do you have pilots witnessing it you also have electro optical data the camera is witnessing it in which being backed up by radar as well so an optical illusion you can pick up on radar at that step that's not the way optical illusion to work in Furthermore it objects that we're we're protecting our coming out of the sky eighty thousand feet and then hovering fifty feet over the water and then disappearing over the horizon so it's truly an enigma and if it is for an adversarial like you said then we've got bigger problems are that may yeah right one has right well if they can go if so if one of if you know the Japanese Chinese Russians I don't know who else could possibly be can go thirteen thousand miles an hour you think they would have done something with the by now or we would have figured it out I mean that would be such a quantum leap from the technology we have that it's hard to imagine that anybody could be that ahead of us right there in lies the problem because we as United States spend billions of dollars each year to avoid something we call strategic surprise you do not want the enemy to get ahead of you technologically and that's and that's true most most cases so we spent a lot of money to make sure we're always ahead of the game of the research and development X. cetera so that this is why for us it's so it's so compelling because in the department of defense despite having the best weapon systems in the world and radars to tell us not only what kind of aircraft that is both of them you know what they're basically took off from them you were getting the biggest mistake we had no idea hold on a second Lou I was on his on the phone line the director of government programs and services now with to the stars academy these the people that are trying to further figure out what this could be we're gonna get our bright side life segment three one two nine eight one seven two hundred the number to call call right now and tell me your good news you can text in as well more laughter will read the text I'll take your phone calls but I want to finish this conversation with Lou we come back in.

"In Las Vegas would it be fair goal it Roger Goodell had to seriously had shearing member Kirk cousins and actually we have the audio for you tonight but Kirk cousins would you said the last couple days said it it wouldn't be terrible to play in front of no fans which I I kind of think is about I don't I don't know that you need to save but he he said we play here you know empty practice facilities all the time and we pumping crowd noise I wonder if Roger Goodell is going to pump in a crowd noise come on that would be hysterical he's got to do something he said to him you love this opportunity to feel the full weight of the borough working so we're going to be in Roger Goodell's basement that's gonna be a credible but just the novelty of a virtual draft of everyone spread out all over the country and to me here it actually makes it a little more relatable than watching them walk across the stage bro hug the commissioner do interviews all the glitz and glamour the lights the green room no no they're going to be doing with the rest of us are doing they're gonna be watching on TV and they're gonna be taking video call than regular phone calls and we're almost going to feel like we're part of it because we're in the same situation they are and so I'm hoping there are no technical difficulties I think that would be a mess but let's hope I mean we're now into week number four of doing the show from the after our super secret home base and we had no technical issues here so if I can do it if we can do it I feel like they can do it to you with all of the money they have to throw behind the technology so I'm looking forward to it more than I normally do probably more than any one girl shed its after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS sports radio you can follow me on Twitter a all radio also on our Facebook page after hours with Amy Lawrence funny story really quick my mom has been buried in grading quizzes and tests from her math students which are all submitted online and for those of you who are teachers you understand what she's going through it so much extra work because they're not just looking at papers everything is is now submitted online has to be graded online and then all of the great in the progress reports have to be recorded online it's it's a lot of staring at the screen it's a lot of sitting in a chair for long long periods of time and so my poor mom her back was hurting she spent hours and hours and hours on Tuesday grading tests and quizzes and and then turning around and recording the progress reports and so she was having a rough day on Tuesday and I didn't really have a chance to talk to our so finally on Wednesday she calls and it was a much quieter day she was feeling better and I said okay mom now it you have to watch the video that I put up of the after hours super secret home base so she hadn't seen it yet and I put it on my personal Facebook page only because every day it seems like I get a text or an email from someone asking me if I'm still doing my show if there are no sports are you still during your show well yes yes we are Hey B. there's still a lot happening in sports just people people don't realize that I guess if they're not connected to this world but anyway so I I told her it's all my Facebook page go look at it so we're on the phone and I hear her play the video you haven't seen it it's it's obviously on both Twitter and Facebook so you're playing the video to hear me talking and I hear her laugh a couple times she put me on speaker phone and then at the end this was her reaction to the video finishes up it's like a ninety second video and her reaction and this is a direct quote Amy you're crazy yep yeah mom knows me better than anyone this guy should love she loves to drive course I live every time I think about it Amy you're crazy yeah I mean it really take a ninety second video from inside my after our super secret home base for her to know but anyway it was just fun because that was her total assessment with Amy your crazy though she enjoyed the video she did a did you after and so I've got I could make her laugh because she had a a trying couple of days and I know many of you teachers are in the same boat thank you so much for what you're doing to make sure that students around the country elementary school kids actually have a a friend who teaches phys ed to elementary school kids and she's doing all kinds of educational videos for them teaching them different skills from all men and they have to watch the videos but she's doing she's doing kids yoga for them over a video and so even phase that is being taught remotely these days but there's teachers from the elementary school level through junior high through high school and and obviously up into a university level and it's challenging because it was a total pay that it was something that was brand new and for many teachers especially older teachers my mom is in her seventies this is it it's not as though she never uses technology she does to post grades and two poster lesson plans and keep in touch with students she has a Snapchat account so mom and I snap every now and then we've actually done a snap video call if you can believe it my mom I mean seriously she's impressive but anyway so it she's having to completely change everything that she was planning for the back half of her year in is actually going to have to give finals not to mention our students are gonna have to take their AP exam so mom teaches AP calculus they're gonna have to take their AP exams over the computer and so it's just a lot and I keep telling her one day at a time a couple videos at a time she she said to me on a Wednesday evening I just recorded two more videos they were perfect I don't even care anymore I was like mom the kids don't either they put their entire lives on YouTube and the stupid or it looks the better seriously that's that's what kids will want you to buy the more ridiculous and imperfection the better for kids on you tube anyway so I'm really proud of are really proud of so many teachers who have taken on this challenge this spring so good for you guys then you are not forgotten even if you don't think your kids notice all the extra work so are coming up let's see we've got our first NFL player who was diagnosed with COPD nineteen whose name has actually been released other the Los Angeles rams are how well they are speaking about the precautions that they have taken after one of their own in a developed slight symptoms thankfully he is feeling better and it was a really special day in sports even though he couldn't be acknowledged out there on the baseball diamond it was still a hallmark today a milestone day in sports it was neat to see so many baseball players are taking time to honor this specific day and a specific man who really did he get his G. U. N. wasn't honored enough while he was still around to recognize that so you can find me on Twitter a law radio can also on our Facebook page you got some QB news coming up a little bit later on and Tom Brady almost now see I don't know that this is on purpose but I kind of feel like become their competitive spirit between him and Peyton manning there's no way that Tom Brady didn't see Peyton manning's all in challenge and decide you want to try to one up him so I'm thinkin Brady versus Payton with the all in challenge that Brady has fired a shot over the wall so what will set that up for you as well good to have you on board hope you had a great Wednesday.

"We've inform you commissioner Roger Goodell's told teams around the league draft will go on as rigidly scheduled next month so it will take place April twenty third through the twenty fifth will be scaled down in televised in a way that reflects current conditions it was originally planned to be a big outdoor production in Las Vegas that's off Jason got off on the decision by the league to keep the draft where it is from a logistical standpoint from a due diligence standpoint from a tone deaf standpoint I don't see how this can go off without a hitch and we already know that it's a crapshoot as it is but we're not having those private workouts not having a chance for your doctors maybe to put hands on the home guys or maybe get another medical report afterwards if you send somebody to another position because right now all physicians are under such stress and such strain because of his medical health crisis that we have right now anybody moving with any kind of certainty or absolute fox says to me that there's money on the line in those deadlines that have to be met Golovkin win going will Kane on the idea that the NFL show must go on I think we have to make do do what we can to do our best I thank Roger Goodell's right to move forward with the NFL draft because postponing it begs the question of until when when are we going to be out of this when we got to get back to normalcy when can John Elway go interview players I don't know the answer to that I don't think doctor felt she has the answer to that I don't think anybody has the answer to that just yet if you don't have an answer that you have to make do from Harlem world since free agency started I well there's certainly been some I haven't seen a lot of kick back it's everywhere all little nervous of what people gonna think out there guys are signing these big deals in again in our world where a lot of times the big machine at the NFL can get ripped for not doing things socially right I haven't seen a lot of that so I I do think people are enjoying it again in the in the sports world and I and I do think people enjoy the draft the worst of the pandemic is probably still about fifteen days away right and then it's how do we deal with that and that would put us literally eight nine ten days before the start of the draft and there might be a different dynamic there but at this point I think the idea of the NFL going for from a public from a sports fans rushed right let's be clear I think people are somewhat comfortable with that again this is a by product the New World War now in player physicals not exactly ideal for NFL teams who haven't been able to get the players their facilities to after agreeing to deals one such example the ravens and Michael Brockers the defensive tackle well he's now not heading to Baltimore instead of heading back to the rams two sides did reach an agreement last week on a three year deal rockers couldn't take it out of physical at their facility ultimately did so with an independent doctor concerns arose over a lingering ankle injury two sides couldn't come to terms on an amended deal so he's back to LA for three season cowboys come to terms on deals with kicker Briggs line and defensive tackle Dontari Poe's airline gets three or seven point five million PO two seasons at ten point five signing an indication Dallas is looking to get bigger on that front line speaking of boys.

R. sport brief I'm a go look right now in I never knew what in turn did it I don't know what was going on I don't know I don't know what I said just one day years ago ten years ago when my Twitter was was really get underway I just looked and I said wait a minute Roger Goodell I said is this like fake and then the next thing I know it well it was actually Roger Goodell and I have said so many things about missed and Roger Goodell still follows me he certainly does a hundred and ninety people that he follows I happen to be one of one hundred and ninety so this day to quote Mr Dion say Wilder I have no idea why Roger Goodell is following me on Twitter while at J. O. sport reports water and general support reform Instagram you can keep up with me and all that I'm doing this is your show okay I'm here every single week night you can catch me for four hours starting at ten PM eastern time seven PM Pacific to hold it down with you we've had a great show so far one hour left I'm a little sad I'm full of energy I want to go play some basketball but that's also prohibited unless I just stand around on the court and shoot by myself we had a whole conversation about dak Prescott okay people calling up and saying he doesn't deserve the money somebody called up and said that Prescott doesn't deserve any more than ten million dollars nobody throwing the football needs to make any money well guess what dak Prescott is going to get that money we spoke to Ryan Dempster World Series winner he came back and told us how these baseball players are going to stay in shape hopefully we get baseball back sooner than later we just spoke to my main man naturel he's working with Topps trading card company he's a great artist he basically did his own spin inversion of Jackie Robinson's nineteen fifty two iconic image cart so there's a lot to discuss but you know what he in this first hour there were a lot of folks who have strong opinions about dak Prescott when I opened up the show and whether or not he should get paid and now whether it's the cowboys fault you know there's there was a whole lot of discussion and thank you to Mister Donovan Lewis he's a mid day host of the ticket sports radio in Dallas he called up and he he made it excellent point the Dallas Cowboys should pay dak Prescott early someone was a fourth round pick they didn't have to sit around and wait for him to it to get to this point and now they're gonna have to presumably over pay to have dak Prescott one that seem to have dak Prescott one that roster that's what they have to do right now it is still full Jerry Jones it's your fault you draft this guy in a fourth round he's only two million dollar contract the goes thirteen and three is first year last season even though the team goals eight may he puts up a career high thirty touchdowns guess what you still have to pay the man he's going to make more money than any quarterback okay we get it until Pat Mahomes until it's time for Pat Mahomes to get paid and his contract is going to wipe every body out this will be no doubt about that but the question is the question out I want to post everyone is quite simple if you were to go ahead in start up football team right now and you have to select a quarterback who would it be are you going to go with the M. V. P. M. Lamar Jackson who decided to light up the NFL someone who wasn't even considered great enough to be a starting quarterback someone who people looked at and said you know what he's he's just too much of an athlete may come running back make a wide receiver just just make a mall all wildcat quarterback this guy throws thirty six touchdowns in only throw six interceptions in just breaks every rushing record imaginable for quarterback that's what Lamar Jackson did you want to talk about a dual threat he's just a walking threat what about Pat Mahomes Pat Mahomes dislocated his kneecap in my opinion I was like shoot the chi season is basically a toilet and he comes back and leads the squad to the Superbowl I thought Pat Mahomes would eventually won a Super Bowl I didn't know it would come so soon you still have some other great quarterbacks guys who who've been to the dance multiple times a Russell Wilson an old reliable there's a good stretch that he'd look like a V. M. V. P. deshaun Watson at certain points in the playoffs up I believe it was against the Buffalo Bills you look at the Shawn Watson and you said it this guy still standing up they can't bring the Shawn Watson down the defenses can't take this guy down I don't know what type of magic that he has drew Brees even in his old age just seemingly completing every single one of his passes just anytime they use this completion percentages I think the best in NFL history some like seventy five percent so I drew Brees throws darts out there a caller Murray a surprisingly good a rookie season out of him Ryan Tannehill coming through out of the of of basically know where I want to say out of the the grips and and and grasp of Adam gase to come out and make a hundred and eighteen million dollars that's basically handed to him from the Tennessee Titans if you had to start but seem right now what quarterback are you going with I really think it boils down to are you going with Lamar Jackson are you going with Patrick Mahomes is there somebody else and this is pretty funny it's pretty ironic I didn't say anything about that Prescott how did say anything about dak Prescott in the reality is dak Prescott is going to probably get paid and will get paid more than every single player that I just mentioned I didn't even say Alan Rogers name yet Aaron Rodgers is probably begging for somebody to throw football too besides the Vontae Adams I will know what you think who would you start but scene with at the quarterback position eight five five two one two for CBS eight five five two one two four C. B. S. who's the best quarterback to start a team with right now today granite Tom Brady's old would you want to start seeing what's on Brady you know it would you want to start a fight scene with drew Brees knowing that these guys are are a little bit long in the tooth when it comes to football the over the age of forty years old you know is is is somebody like Kyler Murray is he a wild card do you see him having a long career or as Colin Murray too small Jimmy Garoppolo's has shown that he can put up numbers but is he someone is going to put your team over the top the running game really took over for the San Francisco forty Niners later in the season there's a lot of players in the NFL right now Josh Allen if you can actually harness and and be in control more of his talent you know he has a future but if you're asking me warm started scene with it's the Super Bowl M. V. P. it's Pat Mahomes discuss put up video game numbers we know the NFL is changed it's about airing the ball out he has weapons like no one else in the NFL everybody on the Kansas City Chiefs is like a a human track meet watching Pat Mahomes orchestrate the offense and basically be able to dump it to any wide receiver and just know that if they make one move they can go ahead and take it to the house is obviously an advantage but you still have to have somebody to actually get them the ball in Patrick Mahomes is awesome I don't care if the side arming the bowl over handing the ball pitching the ball he has grown no look passes in the NFL who would have thought that there'd be a quarterback who would get away with throwing a no look pass still be successful throwing the pass in get away without the cold in the read having a fit about it it doesn't matter if he's dumping it off to us Sammy Watkins or Travis Kelsey Patrick Mahomes is the best and if I'm starting a team I'm gonna go ahead and grab Patrick Mahomes as much as I love Lamar Jackson I was actually disappointed that we didn't see him in the Superbowl last year and they basically the whole team just blew out Tom Brady and got by him and then decided to basically lay an egg and now that Patrick Mahomes has a Super Bowl if you're asking me the next day I want to see one that I think would be possible if he doesn't get injured is Lamar Jackson and that's another reason why I would hedge against selecting Lamar Jackson if I wanted to start a franchise was amazing as he is can you take those hits forever we look at someone who is dynamic someone who was large in size six foot five cam Newton was and is but you have to deal with a shoulder injury he had to deal with a foot injury we look at someone like Mike Vick even even the the the the the time that he had to spend the way by the time he came back those hits add up Patrick Mahomes is a mobile quarterback who can throw in the pocket throw outside of the pocket is not afraid to throw on the move and is also not afraid to run but is smart when he speaks when it's actually time to scramble he's not necessarily looking for contact he's not trying to show you that he's bigger or better than you he's trying to get the first down and he's trying to get out of the situation that's a threat.

"Roger Goodell apologize for the audio quality there by Tom it seems to me like Roger Goodell is starting like everyone is to kind of get a little bit irritated by this whole situation any mentions the public disputes going on and he's not just saying Pat Bowlen doesn't like it he's also saying at the same time he doesn't like it knock down drag out public fights over the ownership of the franchises in the NFL is not a great look for the organization and rod part of Roger Goodell's duties are to make sure that every organization looks as good as they possibly can that is his job so I know that Roger Goodell is not happy with what has occurred but I don't think he has lost faith faith necessarily and Joe Ellis who is the person that is really the one person to speak for the organization that Roger Goodell is talking about Jill Ellis is that right now Roger Goodell said moving forward there's got to be and plays into a little bit what Joe Ellis said and Joe Alice's comments about how these bowling children gonna get in line and get behind one because there's not going to be three four five voices for the Broncos organization there's got to be one singular voice and Joe Ellis and the trust believe that that voice should be Britney bowling but if you remember Roger Goodell's thoughts the last time he was asked about this and the time before that he was asked about this it does seem like he has gotten progressively more agitated and I don't know that we're close to the point where Roger Goodell says you know I've I'm I'm taking by the power vested in me by the fellow owners I am going to force you to sell this team that is a drastic measure that I don't think Roger Goodell is going to do but that doesn't mean that sometime in the near future that Roger Goodell's not going to chat with Jo Alice in say get your house in order and maybe already has a maybe that's what spurred the comments from Joe Alice to say you got to get in line with Britney bowling being the owner or I'm going to put the team up for sale so maybe give that was already gotten to but it does seem like the Dells patience and by extension the patience of the other NFL owners is starting to wear thin don't like big messy ownership battles between children it's not be coming of the National Football League and as I say that I chuckle a little bit because there are a lot of things in the NFL they're very unbecoming of the NFL that that man you just heard from hasn't done a good enough job add policing but this is something that is pretty straightforward make it Britney or sell the team but stop with the lawsuits stop with the bickering that dynasty type squabbling get it done and if Roger Goodell hasn't talked to Joe well it's about hopefully that this these comments lead to another conversation because it's in everybody's best interests whether you believe that the Broncos must remain in the bones control or it will be bass that they were sold to somebody we all agree that this is just this isn't good for anybody it's not good for the Boland family it's not good for the Broncos is not good for you the fans it's not good for me to talk about this stuff is just unseemly and it's I need to figure it out and maybe Roger Goodell will become a more active participate in the process here five two two nine eight seven to take your thoughts on Roger Goodell's comments coming up next mark Moses will join us he is down at radio row in Miami what is South Beach having plan have planned for the rest of the week in what has been going on already down there in Miami and of course we'll get marks prediction for the game on Sunday that's all next here on action sports thirteen under from the chief vapor traffic.

"Roger Goodell has started proceedings. I believe in dust the Arizona Cardinals are officially on the clock. We hear can see a couple of screens. And while I'm enjoying seeing exactly what happens in the NFL draft. And that's what we're here for. I am also geared up a little bit to watch some playoff game between the nuggets Spurs, which will take place tonight in San Antonio, you know, will cover the graph, obviously. But that's been a great great story. And I think I see the Commissioner now walking to the stage. So why don't we want we head to the podium there in Nashville? This is Commissioner Roger Goodell tonight with the weather turning. But so far, it's so good the football and. Gods have talked and it is on the being the two thousand nineteen National Football League draft. This is all right. It has started. But we have not seen Commissioner Roger Goodell. But quickly fell as the nuggets look to be dead right after after getting blown out down there. But they've come back. And now they're one game away from advancing to another round and facing the Portland trailblazers. Yeah. After winning the last game, the nuggets, certainly look like it's there's to to take this sets. Sorry Rimas at the podium. Here's Commissioner Roger Goodell. Tonight. The next. We have.

"When the New England Patriots first emerged as a Super Bowl winner. And this ehre it was not at all clear that they were a dynasty on the rise that was nearly twenty years ago and the patriots were actually the underdog against what was then the Saint Louis Rams this Sunday. The patriots are going for a sixth championship and the Rams who have since moved to Los Angeles would love to even the score. But as I'm Nevada's tells us the league has still not fully come to terms with a fall out of the Colin Kaepernick story and his protests against police, brutality and racial inequality. There's no doubt. It was a big year for the NFL ratings were up this season teams scored more as offensive kicked into another gear. But the reaction to kaffir, Nick. And how the league is responded keeps coming up, and if Al Commissioner Roger Goodell had to address it and many musicians, including reportedly turned down a chance to perform the halftime show a premier event seen by tens of millions the ban. Maroon five did agree to perform on Sunday. And they're now facing backlash of their own Michael Fletcher of the ESPN's the undefeated has been writing all about this and joins me now. Michael welcome back to the news hour you've written about this. In your latest piece. There's two quarterbacks on the field on Sunday. There's a third everyone has been talking about. And that is Colin Kaepernick the man rarely speaks publicly. He rarely gives interviews if ever why are we still talking about him today? It's so interesting. And as you point out it's been two years since cabinet played. But yet he kinda underlies a lot of conversation and a lot of the angst. If you will let NFL as you point out. It's been kind of good time for the NFL. They broke a streak of ratings the clients this year, the games have been exciting. The money continues to flow, but there's this troubling racial dynamic underlying the league. And I think happened it represents that the fact that he hasn't been signed the protests that he ignored by by kneeling during the national anthem kind of revealed this kind of racial split among NFL fans. And that's something that the league is trying to hold together. And so far so good. But it's clearly there's this. There's a tremor happening clearly that racial divide process. Right. We've got a a league that is majority players are African American majority of the owners are white. There's still a lot of conversations around that. And we know cabernet has grievance right? An official complaint filed with the NFL saying that the owners colluded to. Keep him unsigned and out of the game. I want to ask you about something that Goodell actually said earlier this week because as we mentioned he was asked about capper Nick, and what was supposed to be a press conference about the Super Bowl. But here's what he had to say. When he was asked about why capper Nick hasn't been signed. Our clubs are the ones make decisions on. Players that they want to have on their roster. They make that individually. Are they make that in the best interests of their team? And that's something that. We as the NFL take Friday if the team decides the cabinet or any other player can help their team win. That's what they'll do. So Michael, what do you make of that response from Goodell? And do you think we're gonna see cap back on an NFL team? Well, Roger Goodell's but saying that for the last two years that's been kind of a stock response in the league doesn't go further and talking about why capping Knicks not on a team. But the undefeated we did a poll recently that sort of looked at this racial divide black fans back happening white fans don't back happening. You sort of have that sort of right down the line. And you talk about people turning away from the game. I'll more white fans actually turning away from the game because of the whole cabernet protest movement. If you will than black fans, even though both sides are kind of put off so you can understand how team owners are kind of in a bind in a sense. I mean, they probably making a business decision saying that we don't want to alienate fans by hiring this guy. And who knows it may as far as ever playing again, you know, I personally doubt it, I don't see a team signing him at this point. I think it'll be too much of a kerfuffle for them Ican. Well, when it's grievance a win tens of millions of dollars. But I I don't imagine him playing and these had a good you had a short career, but a good one made over forty million bucks. And now he's kind of become almost a global figure. Kind of I kind of figure if you will have resistance in protest, so Michael I gotta ask you there is an actual game on Sunday. Now. Right. You got Tom Brady leading. The patriots. Record nine Super Bowl for him. You've got first time a Super Bowl quarterback there in Jared Goff on the other side for the Rams. What's going to happen? What do you what do you think's gonna happen in the game? As a kid growing up. I love Joe name with. I was a jets fan. So I have this antipathy to the patriots. But I can't you can't bet against them. Bella check is is too crafty. I think the pages are able to play different styles of football offensively. They may be able to control the ball against the Rams and and a ramp up time of possession. And if that's the case, I think the Rams lose another win for Brady, you think experience is going to win the day think. So Michael Fletcher, a senior writer at ESPN's the undefeated, thanks for being here. My pleasure. An update now to.

"The NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for the league's handling about non call by officials during the NFC championship game against the Rams and on-call calls the saints to settle for tiebreaking field goal net. Fourth Rams tied it in the waning seconds and one in overtime. The lawsuit argued that the league should invoke a rule allowing Goodell to order a redo of the game, quote extraordinary unfair acts unquote, Matt Ryan and Greg Olsen were ongoing and wingo on Thursday on opposite sides of the fence on the subject of challenging judgment calls for stop the Atlantic quarterback. I do think it makes sense to to be able to have an opportunity to maybe use a coach's challenge or something like that. But there's gotta be repercussion on the other end of it. It happens though, you know, it's a shame. The time of the game that had happened in the situation being the NFC championship game that had happened. But but these things happen all the time and games. There's there's tons of missed pass interference calls that that go on. I be curious to see how they structure it. But I'd be before, you know, you want you want the calls to be right. And you wanna win or lose off of the merit of your playing not necessarily off of of a misconduct. If I was voting I would vote. No. And I I don't know the saints are up in arms, and I would be too. If I was a saints fan or a player that team I understand living in the moment. And understanding you're passionate squad for most likely going to the Super Bowl. I get that the reality is that's not the first blown call in NFL history. If line misses the field goal. Don't even talking about it because the saints win. Anyway. Thank you. Right. So we can't let the end result. All of a sudden now scrap everything else that we've laid into play over one missed call. And yes, it was a blown call should have been. But if every single play on a third one running out the clock, you bust a ten yard run, and I can challenge and just hope that one of the five linemen grab someone we gonna call holding now a retro retroactive holding penalties on run like where does it end? Who knows the NFL on Thursday clarify Commissioner had not talked to the saints players. And that he was not saying he had during Wednesday's news conference upset because base basketball on the lady side that's up next and more pre-game super Sunday talk on the other side. "From Roger Goodell yesterday? I think people wanted answers to questions that they know are going to take longer time than this to come up with right now, I saw tweeden jobs forty-four tweets and another problem with not getting an answer from Goodell. My issue is there's no mention of reprimanding officials Roger Goodell on the press conference. He gives the state of the NFL yesterday leading up to Super Bowl fifty three leading up to the Super Bowl. Like he does every year. Said that the NFL is exploring options using the technology at their disposal to potentially try and eliminate situations. Like, this going four mentioned all the jargon that we've heard about the usual resistance to challenging or reviewing subjective calls judgment calls by the officials and said these officials human they make mistakes. Yes. So do players and players get cut. They get custody out some of them never get to play football in the NFL again, if you make too many mistakes, and so that to me is the one answer I want and that can come in time that doesn't have to come now. And it definitely doesn't need to come from the the Commissioner whose job is to get you to Super Bowl Sunday. Although our ESPN NFL analyst Ryan Clark believes that and everything the Commissioner said is all a bunch of hot air. Look at every question that Roger Goodell answers. There's never a solution in the answers that it's very seldom you get. This is what's going to happen? This is what we spoken about. Here's the next step. We are taking when you listen to this press conference. It's a lot of I'm gonna make sure I feel enough air to answer your question. So I can say I stood up here. And I replied to what was asked. But this is very seldom I watch that press conference that go man, I have so many answers to so many questions that I didn't have forty five minutes ago. And that's not the design the designed to get you to Sunday. And Roger Goodell was paid handsomely to get you to Sunday, and he's been doing it at that high level for quite a while. Now, speaking of Sunday right now which way are you leaning out still leaning patriots. That was my gut reaction coming off of conference championship weekend. And it's hard to knock me off that perch right now. But as we get closer and closer, I'm sure I'll heavens awesome in a way that will make me ultimately, very sad when it comes to where I actually lay my shackles in this one. Okay. I got laughed at for wanting. Under yesterday. But I'm gonna ask you again over under four chips waffle house while you are in Atlanta, honestly, alley the under is looking pretty juicy on this one. "Here's my thing. See with you with Roger Goodell. Not address me you depriving both the pace in the Rams of their spotlight in the Super Bowl because you now you got bringing up a topic that we supposedly moved past that. But because you didn't address it. Now, we gotta talk about during the Super Bowl win everything should be about the match up. Okay. I I just think you joint you're doing the league of the service. Yeah. Well, there's been a give and take back and forth. Keep in mind retiring saints side and Benjamin Watson had words directed at Goodell for his public silence following the blown call posting a letter to Goodell on Twitter Goodell again as yet to address a clear pass interference Stephen a Smith on a I take with this insight on the subject the league diligently goes about the business of doing whatever it believes, it's it's best interest and sometimes at the expense of the players. So when you have a guy like been Watson speaking, basically what he's saying is also bone and. In other words, speak up know acknowledged that y'all ain't flawless knowledge that you're infallible acknowledged that all mistakes that you guys have made. And that there are things that could be corrected because we got screwed over in this particular context if you are play particularly one in the NFL, and you constantly have to succumb to the authority. And and and and the big heavy hand of the National Football League. It would be nice on occasion when they will in the fess up and acknowledged that they were wrong in that voice. That ought to be came from the commission. Yeah. Makes sense patriots receiver. Julian Edelman, meantime, he's thirty two played at Ken state while Rams coach Sean McVay whose thirty three was at Miami of Ohio both in the MAC, he had his take on the youthful coach taking his team to super Sunday as a stud anyone I mean, he's my age and he's leading an organization to.

So that excludes everyone else in this general area. You're not going to talk about our bodies like that. I'm I'm not shaving. I'm proud of you felt like a little shame. No, no, no. There's never any shame. So you know, what? So he follows up with I will eat you. You know, what I think Roger Goodell needs. What knowing you would probably be a hug? No, more power. I think what we should really do is give Roger more power turns out in the world of interesting is we talk about the way the games ended last night, and especially the controversy around the blown past interference call immediately. The league admitted if anyone didn't see inside two minutes to go the saints are marching with the ball. There's a blatant pass interference committed by the Rams, it somehow isn't called and Adam schefters point earlier and on Twitter could have been a face guarding. It could have been unnecessary roughness because it was helmet to helmet contact. It could have been passed interphase billion penalties. It could have been. However, it was none of those. And it turns out that between that and some is management of the clock the game. And the game goes to overtime Rams win in overtime pass interference had been called for the saints.
