"Yes, your Marriott points were not needed in the city of Seattle for 20 years. Yeah, it's been a sad state of affairs to the point where I still do talk with Mike sock and procured who are radio hosts up in Seattle and I think I started going on the show, boy, it's probably been 5, 6 years now. And they had a theme song for me before every segment I did with them. Here's how it went. Jeff passon, the wet blanket, ray non parades, harsh and buzz is all day. That was, I was known. As the wet blanket in Seattle, and at the end, at the end of that, it had a drop of me going, they're gonna be bad. Because they were bad for so long. And so to see this team now, this exciting, enjoyable, fun team. This team that has rekindled my love with this franchise that she grew up rooting for. It really has. Everybody in Seattle right now has been arrested by this Mariners team because, man, they are a blast to watch. So explain why they're so fun, Jeff, if you're one of the people who has listened perhaps to that segment and checked out of the Mariners because they felt just the moisture of that blanket. What have they been missing? Well, let's start with what was missing until this season. His name is Julio Rodriguez. He is a 21 year old center Fielder and he might be the most dynamic player in baseball right now. First time we've ever seen somebody in his rookie season, get 25 home runs and 25 stolen bases. He's a guy who evaluators thought was just going to be a power hitting corner outfielder, but this winter, he put his mind to becoming a center Fielder. He is their franchise player. He is a franchise player, he's the American League rookie of the year. But it's not just him. The Mariners have in a very short amount of time gone from having no pitching to having one of the best starting rotations in baseball. And when you take those four guys into this playoff series against this Toronto line up there going to be facing in roger center, you better have that type of pitching if you want to survive. And so does all of that. All of those vibes, all of the vibes you're trying to make up for, Jeff. After two decades now, does that mean that this team is going to beat the Toronto Blue Jays? I hate to be the wet blanket. Oh my God, I can not. Of course you're doing this. Of course. Of course. The Toronto blue Jays Pablo have the sneakiest chance, I think, of anyone to get to the World Series. Now, I am not suggesting that the Seattle Mariners do not have it in them to beat the Blue Jays because the Blue Jays do have some weaknesses. You wonder about the depth of their starting pitching. Alec manoa is a gangster. We have established that here before he's awesome. Kevin gausman, as we call him in the baseball tonight green room, the fip God, because he doesn't walk anyone, he strikes out a lot. Fip is also known for the record here as fielding independent pitching, which is another acronym that would absolutely just infuriate old toss rat born. Yes, I can't tell you how many times when gausman has been pitching on a Sunday. I have sat around and just said out loud in the green room. And kirchen looks at me, like, what are you talking about, Jeff? That's great. But Kevin gausman can be a dominant starting pitcher. Beyond that, and you're talking about October being a time when home runs matter, the Blue Jays will bang them if you hang them. And on top of that, if there is a single place, this postseason that confers a home field advantage, it is roger center. It's a kind of crappy old stadium, but it is so loud in there and the fans in Toronto go wild for this Blue Jays team when it's good. I think they have a really good chance and are my pick to advance in what I think will probably be the most enjoyable of the four series, no disrespect to Matt's Padres, which has the most talent, no disrespect to guardians rays, which is the nerds delight. A little bit of disrespect to cardinals and Phillies, but you know, disrespect with love. Jeff hasten at the very end here, there's only one thing that we should be playing at Rogers center volume. And I think you know what song it is. Raining operates, harsh and buzz is all day. They're gonna have bad years coming up. The wettest blanket in all of sports. Thank you, as always, for joining us. I am yours in dampness, Pablo. What does this cost? I'm Pablo Torre. This has been ESPN daily. And our show is produced by Bradford Craig, Alexander hyacinth, Mike Johns, Heather lombardo, Ryan mantel, like philbrick, Andy tennant, Chris two manella, and Aaron Vail. Special thanks this week to Andre Soto, Scott zakowski, Amanda Winkler, Maddie Rudd, tyrus ray, and Jackson Angelo. I'll talk to you Monday.

"Or globe life field, or guaranteed rate field progressive field target fields, chopped in a field, Wrigley Field. I've named all the ball perks at this point, I think. So, well, I guess I haven't named roger center and RingCentral coliseum. So we've got a couple that don't fit in. That doesn't count. Anyway, I think that if you say ball Perkin, I'm Michael's called some baseball in his day. So maybe it's just instinctive for him to say that, but I think it's weird. It's definitely discordant. You would perk up and say, Paul park. I don't think so, right? Yeah. I feel like baseball can claim stadium. It's not weird if you say a baseball stadium. I don't think it's like two way players or three way players field is fine too. Baseball can claim them all, I guess, like baseball can go either way, but I think baseball should kind of have ballpark himself. There used to be a ballpark, like you know what kind of ballpark they're singing about in that song. Right. Yeah. You got the song. That's not a good reason, but it's a reason. You know? Yeah. Yeah, I think ballpark, easy for us to say, I guess maybe we're biased, but well sure. I think. But it's our partnership. So it's fine for baseball. Yeah. All right, and then Stewart, Patreon supporter says, have you ever noticed how many times an announcer refers to the three two pitch as the payoff pitch? Only to see it fell off. Yeah. Maybe it's just joke as tig Leone on Red Sox broadcast. I don't think it is, but pedantically, the first three two pitches very often, not the payoff pitch, which is a fair point. This is reminding me of another previous discussion. I think episode 1603, there was a Jerry Seinfeld complaint about how when teams say or when broadcasters say that a team is down to their last strike, they often aren't because you could get a hit, and then you get three more strikes, and so Seinfeld was saying that you should say that the defense needs one more strike. And I think we were pretty indifferent about this one, and I think it was fine. We were talking about match point as an alternative, maybe something like that. Just because a single plate appearance arguably could contain more than one match point. So I think that it's, you know, as so often these things fall into the well, we know what they're saying. They're saying full count. But I guess it's more accurate to say full count than to say, pay off pitch because it may or may not be. There's a pretty decent chance that it won't be I love a younger, less pedantic time in the podcast history. And then do we get line judges who sit up there and go quiet, please. Thank you. Tennis is weird, man. They do a weird stuff in tennis. Hawkeye replay reviews sometimes soon. Why is there not Hawkeye in football? This is a different conversation, but we're out here with these chains and we're like, this is precise. What's it all? You got technology for that? Yeah. I don't mind payoff pitch, but I don't either. It is true. There is like, you know, it gets you ramped up. It's like it is. Yeah, but it is a little deflating when payoff pitch. And then we'll do it again, you know? So maybe it shouldn't be pay off pitch, but I like that term. I like the phrase pay off pitch. It's a cool one. I wouldn't want to retire that one. But it is true that it's not often or not always the payoff pitch. So if you want to be a stickler, then just say it's three two or safe full camp, but then we'd lose the fun of saying pay off pitch and hearing payoff pitch. Not worth the trade off to me. I agree. I think I agree. Lastly, Connor says I'll keep this brief or short in parentheses. Why do we say that teams hit long balls when they hit home runs, but play small ball when they bunt? Why not hitting big balls? For better yet, playing big ball. The reverse would be fine with me as well. I'd love to hear broadcasters tell me they miss how many short balls you used to see in a game. To me, the status quo seems grammatically inconsistent. It also feels like a missed opportunity for the sport. Do you agree? I'm gonna do a thing I don't normally do on the podcast and I'm going to accuse a listener of really just sending in an email so that they can hear you say big pulse. Yep. I think that that was the purpose of the email. I don't think that you actually care about this I think you just wanted to say big things. And then you wanted me to laugh about it. And guess what? We're giving you what you want. Yeah. I think if this were a serious good faith question and Connor really wanted to know why we don't say big ball or big balls, it would be because it will make people laugh. And we will titter and giggle and get distracted. That's why. But playing big ball, I don't mind it. That sounds like something I could imagine becoming a team slogan. Oh yeah. You know, and like the catch phrase for that team and everyone's wearing their big balls t-shirts or whatever. Oh yeah, I mean, have you paid attention to the little inside celebrations of baseball players? It was one another. 90% of those are explicitly sexual. I'm not saying that they are engaged in any of that behavior amongst themselves, although maybe, and we support you, but like they are meant to evoke just a lot of activity, the results in bodily fluid is all I'm saying. So absolutely. I can't believe that there aren't t-shirts with that already. Because some of the some of the gesture or something like their children watching, and I hope that they have learned something. Yeah. Oh, and did you see the news about the Grand Junction rockies changing their name? You mean the Grand Junction chips? Well, should we start a rated kip in here? So no. BWA Ben. Come on now. I'm in the BBW AHA. We should encourage our Clubhouse yesterday. And so far during this podcast, I have said big balls. Big texted Scott Boris to ask if he came up with Carl's Dior store analogy. Now I'm suggesting that we end up with some booty Mick boat faced kind of result here for the Grand Junction rockies, but to be fair, they opened themselves up to it. Oh yeah. Now I don't think they said that they're definitely bound by the crowdsourced results here, but the grandchildren. So they've learned something about the Internet since the last time we've had this conversation. I guess so. And since the last time they insisted that their name is not the grandchild chubs and never would be, but they're no longer affiliated with the rockies. They were a pioneer league team and lost their affiliation, I think. And so it doesn't really make that much sense for them to be named the rockies or at least not because of their former association with that parent club. So now they're looking for a new name. They're in the market and they're asking for suggestions and fans can submit. Suggestions, so. I think they will get a lot of right in votes for chubs. Yes. And I'm not discouraging that. No. I guess I will stop short of encouraging, I guess I'll stop short of organizing a writing campaign to stuff the ballot box for chubs as the name, but I would not be upset if they were whooshed by chubbs suggestions.

"While boys, I feel like we talked about 9000 controversial things already, and we still haven't even gotten to the tale of all Maple Leafs stuff last week. The second coming of bertuzzi? You would think so in this town, but all right, let's rewind the leafs jumped out to a 6 one lead versus Boston last week. Come on for a 6 four win, but all everybody want to talk about was Taylor hall, reacting to the bushkin hit from behind by punching him in the head. Leafs fans and media thought there was a suspension coming which I thought was pretty laughable. He ends up getting a $5000 fine la bushkin did not play Thursday, but we'll go to you first, leave superfan. Did you think call was a fine suspension? What should have happened there? Well, the league's not going to suspend him, I will. One year suspension from the podcast. I'm no longer doing the lip gloss with him. When I see him, I'll probably have a conversation with him off to the side. I thought it was ridiculous. And ultimately, they got out skilled. And we already had this conversation about getting out skilled and the barbaric Ness of the melee of afterward. And in one situation, the leafs didn't even provoke them to do this. They simply made a play up the wall and Taylor hall's wires crossed. And I think he much like McKinnon should be locked up and put in solitary confinement. So I've said my piece. He has an open fist when he hits him. It looks like only his thumb hits him. I'm not saying at all the faking anything, but it's so it was so weird to me that he got hurt on that. I mean, I did not see that it wasn't that hard. It wasn't a fence. It was just kind of like a little bump to his chin, maybe he's got kind of a glass jaw at least. I don't know what happened. No, I don't know if you know. I don't know if you've ever watched a Steven Seagal movie, but he got him right here in the pressure point in the back and sometimes that can happen. Maybe he's a black belt, so he knew what he was doing too. But I mean, fine, okay. I didn't see a suspension there. I'm not a bruins fan. People think I'm a bruins fan. Fuck the bruins. Typically. I just didn't see a suspension there. You're the independent which I hear. You know I was what you admit, would you admit when the game got out of hand, the broon started goonan it up? That's what's supposed to happen when a game gets out of hand. And you're supposed to. Not when it's not when it's the Toronto Maple Leafs and not when they were barely even celebrating their goals. They weren't even putting their arms in the air. They weren't poking a goalies. I know that. They might see them in the Eastern Conference Finals or in the playoffs at some point. You want to send a little message for the playoffs. That's what we were always taught to do. Hey, we might see this team again. Go out there and do something. That is the team. You want to play in the first round. I think they dost the bruins. No way. No way. I would not want to play the bruins. I mentioned in that behind this. Dude, is their best matchup. I like the canes. I like the canes for the how do you like the cave for the mental aspect of Freddy Anderson's got to come back to Toronto too? I just think that that's going to sway a lot. Merle, do you agree with that? I'd like to see it, but leafs are too hot right now. They're not going to end up in that wild card, so there's no chance that they end up playing Carolina. I would love to get retribution on the Boston Bruins after that three one meltdown. And then what was it? Was it four one in that game 7? Or was it three ones? Four one. It was four, one, 13. When they had that full on meltdown, but this is a different team and they're built differently. And I know that people were criticizing me for saying dubas was a second best GM at the deadline other than Bill garand, but those moves are proven to be no goalie, chef's kiss. Don't have a goalie. Leafs. They don't need a fucking goalie. They can put what's his name in that. When he was a mechanic. No. Not McKenna. They can not have McKenna. Who is the ebook? They can get David ayers. Tell them the fucking come play for the leafs. He can be a net. That's how many goals are going to be scoring and playing. Forgot their ebook beat them. Oh, that was so good. What else do we got? Peter mrazek, he's likely going to miss 6 weeks with a groin injury. He's not going to be available for the start of the playoffs. Jack Campbell was medically cleared. It's going to be interesting to see what goes on considering the way things went last year, but I don't know. This team isn't built for a playoff run biz. They don't have goalies. They don't have great defense. They're speaking of that crew. They're getting bullied by the bruins when they're down 6 to when they're up 6. Oh, yeah, that's because Simmons Simmons didn't answer the belt, but he did the other night against Philadelphia. Wow, he killed somebody. I got a good chuckle. You landed in Toronto yesterday on Twitter, put out a video of the skyline and roger center and said in Toronto smells like another first round exit. You deleted it. I did because people because people thought I was saying that the Rogers center was Scotiabank and I was getting so many tweets that were like, you're an idiot, you think the roger center is going to make. I was just taking a video of the space signal. I got the roger Senate. It did. And it actually exists. It smelled like a first round exit all over Toronto right now, and it still does. They're not built for a playoff run, biz. We'll see..

"No one needs to more explaining that of how effective is when alfie and you just hope in two thousand and two thousand that he is healthy every day or for the most part dan. We pretty much get that for a full season. Because we've seen when he's played. Are we seeing. How good he is when he's healthy and we've also seen him struggle when he's not so that's the problem and that's something that kind of lingering around from all the way going back to spring training when he first got injured and you just hope that we're past that now as much as it was season. Forget in a way for springer because of the injuries there was a lot of bright moments to take away from that as well. So that's why it kind of showed the impact that he had on this team. And what way cap it off to end off nine and one home. Stand the first home. Sandbox roger center and for george springer do that definitely a special moment for sure. I didn't even think about his health for the rest of the season. And how that moment was. I mean you know like after the all star break. We kind of had him breaking out a bit and showing what he can do especially coming back in toronto and playing in toronto. I think that was the first time in the first streak that he really put up of good numbers but yeah that homer was a big moment for him in a big moment for the blue jays at that time in the season Okay so we've counted down the top nine moment to the blue jay season we've got one left but before we get to that. We all have our own individual honorable mention picks at didn't make the cut for the top ten that are more personal picks than those that were requested by the fans. In as i mentioned we put out that call for moments from fans for their top moments. this moment and these moments that were picking as general bob. Lynch's are a little bit more personal. But jacob wanting you kick us off with your honorable mention for top moment. That didn't make the cut this season. All right so i. I was kind of conflicted and the one that i ended up picking. It has to be robberies fourteenth strikeout against the chicago white sox and honestly like robbie ray if he doesn't come back still i think he's had one of the better seasons in blue jays history but even during this season it just every single game. It seemed to be that was shattering. Some type of record and mark. You and i were at that game. We were watching from the Flightdeck so we didn't get to hear the grunts but we're able to see it. Seemed as if i think if i calculated it back when we were there. Two thirds of his of his Outs that he recorded were out of or via the strike out and that last one yet you look at the emotion in from him. It was to end the inning. Two so he you know he strikes him out and then he's just pounding his chest. Screaming runs to the dugout and to meet like honestly booze ended up winning that. I think he was in the seventh inning and so in the like the inning later they were able to go. I think allah hundred kirk had to go ahead hit but just in that moment to see robbie ray basically just do what he did all season long and shatter records. I think he's now the the only blue jay hitter or excuse me pitcher to have that many strikeouts in a game just to see things like that in person. It's one of those things that you just. You love to see and i think another type of situation. There are a few home runs..

"Was there anything else. Sorry craig go head to that point about you mentioning that. He's not the we need to be but he doesn't need to be a semi more at the moment. We just need him to get us some solid innings if he gives me five innings next start a couple of runs against yankees and we can actually manage to get some offense. It's still win. Yeah that's right now. yeah. I'm just. I'm not a fan of it to start off because then you had to win. The next to your cushion is gone leg. Especially he's performing the way he has been. Your cushion has gone. I like the idea. Starting bats if we can find that out mats and that would have been like filled up against that. That's interesting and i thought so. Berea starts friday right. And then you go ray manila. You have your off day. Monday and you go to matt's that puts brio and line for wednesday that would be short rest for potential. Gave one sixty two so. I'm not sure how they're going to manage that. And that would actually lineup. Stephen matt's for the last game of the regular season which would be interesting at that point. So yeah they have some tough calls to make in terms of what's going to happen with the way they lay out the rotation. But i don't know guys. I mean the twin series. I think that went just as we expected. I think we all hoped for sweep. Just because they're weaker opponent. Real obviously didn't start very well. Josh donaldson burn them quite a bit on friday. And everybody's was starting to think just say it was right. Yeah right again saturday. When they got off to their early lead to run homer again. Like oh shit. This guy is going to single handily. Keep them out of the postseason and he has another opportunity to do it again for four games this week at his home ballpark by i don't know. Is there anything else you guys wanted to add onto the twin series. They're pretty as expected. Maths went pitch. Well and saturday burritos pitch well on sunday during nfl. Sunday and whatnot or anything else. You wanted to add onto the twin series. Now it was nice little. I don't want to cushion but is exactly what the need and coming out of this series. Which i'm sure we're going to get into a four game. Stint against minnesota is exactly what the jay's need to this right yup hundred percents. I just wanted to point out a point here. That was a. I think a little bit bigger than sports that was going on in the rogers centre which styles and coming home. I don't know if you guys saw that highlighted them changing vladi and him. Changing jesse's at church cool things i've ever seen you know baseball players. Don't do that as such a football thing. And it's been a basketball a little bit too. But the fact that they took not only the jersey exchange but they took time to sign each of their jerseys before they exchanged. I thought that was really cool and Was that the official passing the torch that we didn't get yes during the fact that we didn't get to see josh donaldson and his last season as a blue jay so it was really really cool and then as what is it sucks. Lose that the twins. I am not shocked that he went off during that series. Johnson's career in the rogers centre has been something incredible even before he was a blue jay playing with those few series against the oakland a.'s..

"So to that point. Let's talk 'cause. I wanna talk the home stand in all the return fund here and everything like that and the literally as we get the like like i said. Enjoy being toronto. Blue jays again. Finally yes finally happened. Gentlemen brennan you got a chance to actually go to one of these games so tell me how the general buzz. Gimme the pulse. What's going on in toronto with this team. Finally getting a chance to come home and how it might feel for the players while they're winning five nothing and the only they've lost since they've been homeless. The game was at so pretty shitty. Let's go with call a. It's kind of like a. I watched it on friday in saw Emotional less for them. The return for everybody When being at the stadium on monday It felt like return to normal. Even though you have to wear a mask which is totally fine. We done it for the last year and a half whatever. It's something face You can take it down to drink. Eat just like normal patio whatever it is. It's a little more relaxed being in the stands of ushers are as quick Put on your mask they actually. I didn't see single. Say that in the concourse. Everybody wore one which is great. So people followed the protocols very well to be at the game in the best off that you gotta be thinking right. I was like i would rather go to a game where mask than not go to a game or have the blue jays play in buffalo so from all that standpoint is great but now it's giving the city a boost again. It's nice. it was nice seeing people walking roberson for for a change And yet just feels like the start of the return to pre pandemic levels and it'll be interesting to see maybe at some point september. They cannot the capacity hopefully when they are much more in a race or wild card race. That maybe get to thirty thousand or forty thousand Later on the season but now is awesome. Fifteen thousand people can make a lot of noise Even though it doesn't feel it too many people in such a big stadium. Yeah i was shocked how loud it was on the tv broadcasts with even the roof open. I thought that was the thing that was more shocking facts. I've been there with a concert and with the roof closed that everything is like holy crap and so there's a reason it's a thunderdome right at that point but to that point. Was it like when you were walking back into the roger center for a game. Where where's everybody playing by the bucket outside vendors and everything back they feel born. Normal back into the ballpark. Yeah definitely felt hardee's back. Yes hardy active belly pre pandemic repentant life for a couple of hours being at the game in seeing everybody But again the only difference was everybody had to wear masks just social distance. A little bit could adam. What did you get out of that first broadcast being able to watch the blue jays finally playing a home game for the first time in a hundred and sixty four road games. Is i think the number. Yeah it was like six hundred seventy days or something thereabouts. One hundred games or something like that total or something like that. So mlb tv does a cool thing now where you can actually watch the pre and post game for blue jays Stuff at least..

"So he's had trouble against lefties and they coming into a division the He's gotta face yankees team that just added to very good lefty hitters. He's gotta face raised team. That does really good against right handed. Pitching he's gotta face a boston team. That just does good against pitching And so that's where it's it's problematic. I'm i like to move from a baseball perspective For a fan base. More than i like it from the fantasy perspective and i think that's the differentiator here Is at the end of the day. I still see toronto on the outside looking. In because of the games. They've left on the table due to the shortcomings of their roster construction At losing julian meriwether early like they did. He still weeks away from coming back if he becomes back at all. It's like the bullpen kind of fell apart from there And it just now. Getting the opportunity to rebuild itself. I guess the good news for berrios as he doesn't worry about facing the yankees until september they. Start a four-game set at yankee stadium Starting on labor day and then they played them again The final week of the season So that's what they have left against the against the yankees but we looking at schedule. I think barriers pitches today. Yes he's in the first inning right now when out casey and he's got boston than he's gonna have seattle that he's gonna have detroit. He's the white sox that he's going to have oakland that he's gonna have a yankee game He's got attempt bay game. Then he's got another tampa bay game then a yankee game so that's not a great strength of schedule the rest free yeah. I tend to agree with you there. Jason i i liked the move for toronto. They really needed to add to this. Rotation but Pigeon roger center in in that alias is not going to be great for brio a value. Moving definitely takes a little bit of hit. I don't think soria factors into the back end of this this the bullpen. I think it's going to be Brad hand and jordan romano getting save opportunities going to go back to being a setup guys of those you and holds leagues He could Go back to get some holds on on a much better team in toronto but other than that he's not gonna factor in Let's let's talk about the braves. 'cause they were really really interesting team at the deadline. They traded for adam. Duvall eddie rosario and hori solaire Plus traded for richard rodriguez a red at the end of the trade deadline. So jason. What are your thoughts on the braves. Pretty much acquiring an entire new outfield at the deadline. And then richard as well okay. It was such a weird thing..

"An hour what fans back to so we can hear the boos when they introduced trailer montoya and rafael talk entitled. That would not that. I want them to be booed again. We've been over this a million times but it would just be entertaining you'll have to see it Okay other cool news from this week. Four blue jays named all. You mentioned this earlier. Brace vladimir guerrero junior being the youngest player ever to lead olive baseball in votes for the all star game you have mark simeon. Also getting in you have to oscar hernandez getting in with a last minute push on the day of voting closing. And then you have bobishenko making it as a reserve and him being named yesterday to the roster It's really cool to see four guys on the team especially when the team hasn't been there in toronto in two years and you still this kind of support for the team. Still have this kind of mobilization of the troops per se vote for players. It's awesome to see it. And i think it really does go to show that this generation of the blue jays is so much better than anything we've seen in recent years not just going back a few years to the pretty rough years of two thousand seventeen and twenty eighteen like going back. Even i think. Twenty fifteen like. We haven't seen this type of team with this home grown talent for such a long time. You go back to the hopes of two thousand thirteen. That was a lot of trades. You'll get ari dickey you'll get those guys coming in that year. You go back even to the started blue jays history. Not a lot of this talent has been home grown. I think we're seeing a new type of team. A new type of fan support rally around them and it's really exciting. I'm just gonna say the last time. The blue jays had this many all-stars something very good happened that year. Somebody by the name of joe. Carter won the world series for the blue jays and i mean it could happen But yeah what you're saying markets. It's such a. I feel like this is such an entertaining group bluejays. I think this current group is better than the two thousand fifteen sixteen team sort of. I mean the pitching is equal. Ish i would say it depends on how you look at it but i would say that this offense is a little bit better. I think that the the small ball at times is there. You don't necessarily see like the blue jays rely on home runs. Obviously then they can hit home runs but they can win without the home run and i think that's the cool thing but i think also you know we're kind of at that age now where we saw a lot of these guys get drafted and get signing grow. Only signed in two thousand fifteen nate pearson isn't with the team but he was. I think it was two thousand. Seventeen was drafted. Bouchette was drafted twenty. Sixteen you see be. Oh the rail. The three of them win that championship with new hampshire in eighteen nineteen. We've seen a lot of these guys develop and grow into So we've seen we've seen all these guys become almost two..

"And if if they can't come back july thirtieth like i don't know what what's going to bring them back and they've been in discussions with the federal government for. I mean pretty much all year. So that's why. I don't know if this is entirely rushed and pretty much. What we've been hearing is rob longley has pretty much been releasing a bunch of threads about this saying that. This was kind of flown under the in terms of a few weeks ago. This proposal wasn't just submitted like this was submitted over a week ago and at least a couple of weeks ago and tfc toronto fc. There are also in a similar situation. There are actually aiming to play games on july seventeenth. so you have to imagine. The federal government's kind of is going to i guess either accept or reject this like together i. It seems like we're going to get an answer probably the soon if as jacob. You're mentioning said that they're gonna they're gonna need at least a couple of weeks in order to i. Guess get every move all the equipment rodr center because rogers center in terms of the field and everything. The field is ready and everything is ready at the rogers centre. All they're missing is yes. The field is ready. I can confirm that per sources so the fields ready. They need the equipment. That's what's obviously gonna hold them back and yes there's going to be a lot of agreements that they're like the this major. I'm oh bpa because You guys were talking about this. What's gonna be. They're going to be a quarantine. Are the players going to be allowed to live out of you. Know not the renaissance hotel or the hotel connected. roger senators. Are the players going to be able to to live. You know the visiting players going to be able to leave their hotel. There's a lot of things. I gotta get sorted out and i'm sure this is all part of the proposal so we're gonna find out sooner rather than later what the details are but the fact is and going back to an episode two was mark. You mark idea. I don't think you were there They you know i was saying. I don't think there's any risk in terms of holding at least ten thousand people at rogers centre so from what we know too because bluejays hot stove on twitter was actually the first one to report this before shot. Eighty released his article on it. Apparently they are aiming for at least twenty five percent capacity to start. It's twenty five fifty but you have to imagine if they were to allow any fans you'd figure it'd be twenty-five percent so that's fine it just feels like there's a lot of details that have to be. I guess sorted out but the amount of development. This is kind of taken over the next couple of days because apparently to august twentieth was the original date in terms of them coming back and it didn't look like at the time they were even going to be getting approval from the federal government but based on i guess how quickly things have progressed in canada and especially in ontario coming back to seem like a realistic plan and going back to to the nhl topic when we were talking about How they were being allowed.

"July thirtieth. Because i mean here's the thing it it's gonna be tough. No dough and mark. Shapiro came out and said i think it was either us either yesterday or within the last couple of days that the team is going to need at least three weeks to a fee to work through everything to return to toronto so it currently it's july the fifth i would say if they get news within the next couple days maybe week than that's reasonable now Shapiro did also say that. If need be they could kind of rush that that processing time don. Maybe weeks or week or something like that. So we'll see it could happen I'm still predicting that. It is july thirtieth in. It'll be definitely entertaining thing. But i think like the biggest thing here is a based off of what i've been reading. The is that the vaccinated versus unvaccinated fans are not fans are players is what's kind of causing the the hurdle here because you look at it. It seems as if i believe it was twenty two of the thirty. Mlb teams have now reached that eighty five percent vaccination threshold threshold which is still good which is good but still eighty five percent is not one hundred percents have people are vaccinated or that are fully vaccinated may be one with only one dose or with no doses and that's gonna be the biggest hurdle is trying to figure out how you can work around that the interesting thing still montreal canadian's currently playing as we record this. They had their series with vegas where they went to and from the two cities they had their series with the tampa bay lightning which could be ending the episode up but they've had two different teams. Come in and so far. The the i i is what what i've got is. It's kind of more of a not necessarily a bubble but there are still restrictions in place. "Doley san romano for the back end of the of the bullpen and they would cover those last couple innings whenever needed. Now we're without kirby it's so we have to release and ramona who you have to trust and i trusted them but i just i feel like if you're charlie montoya the best thing you can do is not trust him in high leverage situations until he deems himself worthy to handle those and maybe that is you put him in the middle of the innings or middle innings of the game or in non save situations or something like that where he can at least prove that he can get guys l. because the situation are a little different. Yes if it's say it's the the ninth inning and it's a one run ball game that's obviously different than the sixth inning of a three run game or something but i still would rather see dolly's get innings under his belt at those situations or in those situations then in the ninth inning because there's no room for error when you're coming in and a one run game and that's just it. That's what happened in that last game against tampa bay whereas worst case he gives up two or three earned runs in the other situation. I mentioned it's not as bad. Obviously you don't wanna give up those runs. But there's still some room to work with but i will say i've defended charlie montolio we all have. I think there was a couple of episodes ago where we all said yeah. It's not him. Mismanaging the bullpen. It's guys not showing up but if a guy is not as if dole is not as good as as you've expected in two you can't keep putting him in these situation saying be as good as we need you to be. I think at some point montolio has to look at romano and say okay. We're gonna put you in these situations that it's not what you expected but we need to see that you can at least get guiso these situations and then and then go into the ninth inning..

"And Ross stripling another. Good outing for him. Five and two thirds and only one earned run and struck out five definitely get to see and someone who continues to impress pretty much. Everyone and i think is kind of expected for me. Coming out of the bullpen was newly acquired at adam simmer who comes out again and has another course appearance especially on the saturday game. Just one One inning and only allowed one hit and that was Another successful appearance from him. And we know the offense clicked on that day. While santiago espino was also the highlight who had his first career home run after all this time he had to every is so he was kind of the highlight of the game for my opinion at least one of the bright spots for sure and it was good to see a how happy everyone was when that happened. And of course the sunday game doesn't go as planned Robbie ray as much as The game fell a partner. The end robbie ray had yet another successful. Start seven innings. Only two earned runs six strikeouts and we know what the recent struggles of hundred view are. we like. It feels like we're starting to see a slow twist or slow turn in terms of robbie ray like unofficially becoming this team's as i don't know how long that lasts for all i know is robbie rate continues to be good and he's definitely care in the rotation as of now because of the recent struggles every was well but yeah. We know the rest of the story from there kind of things. Kind of imploded in the the ninth inning for the jays one tampa three runs in the ninth inning and that kind of sealed it and yes rafael release freshly off. The injured list comes in and allowed. Three earned runs in a third of an inning. So yes doesn't end properly the have an off day today. They have now tumor sears. They go to baltimore for three. And then they go to tampa bay to close out the weekend as well heading into the all star break but yeah this series alone. I said it on the last. They needed lisa series win. And i think that helps her case for sure. And when you look at the welker standings now there are currently four four and a half games back. So they're still hanging in there in terms of contention as much as the division still seems to be a little bit more distant but either way it was definitely successful in my opinion for sure. And i don't want to focus too much on delays because there is a lot of good stuff to talk about having him come back from the i l i think everyone was hoping that he would come back and be who he wasn't. Twenty twenty like you figure things out. Miraculously and his time. On the i l. but of course he comes in gives upto those runs and it's not entirely his fault. You know the defense behind him. Bobishenko making a miscue in throwing over to first after making that stop. He just shouldn't have thrown over to i. But you know it is what it is and i think it seems like every time delays comes out. You always need the defense behind him to be perfect and somehow they always make a mistake. You go back to his last outing. I think it was. He made appearances in the four-game series against boston. And both of those appearances are a defensive miscues behind him that kind of got the inning rolling for boston and then the blue jays screwed it up from that point forward so i don't know how much we can blame him but he certainly hasn't been himself this season and you were hoping he would come back and be himself. But that's not the case Charlie montoyo said from this point forward. He's still gonna be using rafael delays in high leverage situations..

"Death showed one hundred thirty four of section one thirty eight. I'm your host mark collie as always joined bipartisan and jacob. How're guys doing good mark coming off vase series win against the raise however a little bit of a disappointing third game. But you take two to three. And that's what the goal is for me Coming coming into the weekend. I'll take it any day of the week for sure. Yeah you can say what you want about losing that last game and we will later in this podcast but hey you take two of three from the tampa bay rays. That's a win any way you can get it. How are you jacob. while. I'm good to be back. I'm happy to be back This good series for the bluejays overall like you said bryson didn't end didn't end in a very good way and very concerning all that way good series overall but It did highlight. I think some of the The negative on this current team care. I'm interested in hearing more about that. How is this series concern pricing. And i just said how that caught my loved the result of this series like we just said it was good the way the blue jays got out of this. So how is the result of this series concerning to you will over all. I think it was good but when you look at raphael delisi comes back after his first appearance after coming back from i l. Three earned runs allowed in a third of an inning. And that just it. It didn't cut it. He was not Extremely good in his outing. And it it showed i think that the bullpen. It's getting better. We saw adam cimber come in yet. Some good outings He in pitching the first or the second game and in the third game actually and he had to scoreless outings so that was good but there are still i. Think some concerns in terms of the pitching and the offense It was really good in the first game. I think that was the one to one game. That was The top of the order was fantastic in that one but in the second two games i noticed that there were quite a lot of offers in terms of guys not getting hits and i mean you kind of expect that when you have a good team at the tampa bay rays as your opponent. But i still think that this team is a bit of a work in progress especially in the back end of the bullpen..

"I have zero reason to be optimistic for them. Coming to toronto in the same thing with the raptors gotta look at them. Because they're in. I think it's tampa bay right now or at least in the same arena that the tampa bay lightning play. And they're not it doesn't look like they're coming up to toronto so i don't think the blue jays will have the same They'll have the same things and they're not coming up to toronto over I'm just interesting i have. I have optimism because one. Yeah the vaccine distribution right now is poor jacob. How ever a lot can change in a couple of months. And they're saying by the summer it's get a lot better. Yeah there's still promising everyone to be vaccinated by so they haven't they. Haven't you know there's still a chance for that. And this is what. I think they go back and this it's different from the raptors because while the raptors are playing right now and it's different and they're going to and obviously around the summer it's going to be a little bit delayed as it usually ends. Because of how late they started. How cool would it be for candidate. They go back. That's my prediction and if it's not candidate. They're back august or september. There's ten games right. There are eleven games. Especially if you go on to around august. But i think a perfect situation is candidate. I just have optimism that they're going to be back there at some point this year. Game seven the world roger center. I would buy tickets for that even if it was like five grand a one hundred percent. Yeah i agree with jacob. Because i think the inertia is that once a season starts are not gonna wanna move. I don't see them starting in dunedin and then all of a sudden you know saying it would be amazing if kennedy we can. They're like okay. Yeah we're gonna move up to the rodgers enter and celebrate it this way. It would be incredible. But i just don't see the thing happening that way i just. I just think the inertia will be so much that they just won't move this season. And you know maybe we see it happen. But i really don't think it's gonna happen. I'm agreeing with jacob putting the under and zero games At the rogers centre okay. The next question is which blue jays or any blue jays. I guess we'll make the all star team. I three names on this was a little bit of bishops but i think the most obvious choices boba shit. I think that's no brainer. Another name had market simeon. Maybe a little bit of more of a question mark. I think he i'm confident. And i'm trusting that he will be close to what he was in two thousand nineteen. I don't think he'll be as good. But i think you'll be close to what he was maybe six war player And and i think that's obviously good enough the all star game and then the third name. Perhaps this is a little bit of a surprise. But jordan. Romano i think is going to make the all star team. I'm beyond his. I did not even think of romano. But i don't know how i didn't because he was fantastic last year and he has done nothing to prove me. proved to me that he's going to do otherwise. But i'm a i'm going to agree with you. Boba sheds making the all star team. Mlb loves to loves to post about him on social media. They clearly love him and he's a good player..

september last year august ten games toronto Romano market simeon jacob one hundred percent Boba eleven games this year tampa bay jordan romano third name two thousand nineteen rogers centre blue jays six war
