"Remains to be seen. But good first impression today at house holiday. I agree with you look at one of the positives from last year from a zoom out and look at their structure was the first time head coach who specialty is offense and he's wants to develop this very close relationship with the young quarterback. His time is going to be consumed by doing the offense of part of the work here. How great is it to have this accomplish defensive coordinator, you can basically just decided to give all control the defense to that guy. I think you have a similar situation with Chuck Pagano. Is you had with Vic Fangio, so the segue away from Vick who's fantastic had his job to Chuck Pagano? Who's also very good at his job. I mean, I'm not going to suggest to it's completely seamless. But it's it's about as seamless as it could be a lot of people say, well, how good was defense in in Indy. Visit along time defensive assistant coach or coordinator in Baltimore longtime defensive backs coach sort of reminds me of the rod mirror. Nellie dynamic. Now. Eat a longer run as head coach than Rodman Manelli dead in Detroit when he had that awful team. But look rod merely Nellie wasn't degrade head coach. And he's been a really good defensive coordinator coach for the bears in the now the Cowboys for long run is nice higher for them really doing. I think they again, I don't know that it will be a one hundred percents seamless. There will be expectations. The cupboard is full. There are great players on that side of the football expectations are there. But boy, it felt it felt smooth feels like a smooth transition before we get to JD I have two questions free on the George mccaskey interview. He was just inside our first mid West Bank studio. Do you believe again? Again, like, even though he said look Ryan pace, and and more specifically Matt Nagy just explained about a personal call with cream on a relationship that they've had. But again like no door was closed in this. Do you agree with that? Yeah. I think that as time as it was the NFL and other entities are dealing with this very difficult concept. I think people's opinions evolve as well. I thought what we heard from? Theo Epstein was very revealing when we talked to him last Friday, which you mentioned about the. Being the event at a safe place up north that the bears are very involved both hands on and financially. Yes. And the concept of second choices in every situation has to be looked at individually and a desire to want to become a better person and sincere contrition, and when you factor that all in. I don't think I guess the point of Meghan is is I don't think that the bears have my reputation was they don't have a hard and fast rule. No. If you we're not a if you have a domestic violence issue in your past, however, big or small, it is we just don't have a policy. We don't have a set policy. I guess that was my interpretation. We don't have a zero tolerance policy. Correct. Which would be a set policy. Yes. That will look at all of these situations. Individually to me, again, my preference, not telling you, you should feel or anyone else should feel. That's the that's the. Avenue that I go down as well that you look at all these things individually, you talked to all of the experts and you deal with everything in an individual basis. And if the experts say there's contrition this person has gone through the process of trying to become a better person. And we we we recommend that you give him a second chance. Then I'm gonna lead I'm gonna let those people lead the way not me, you know, so. You know, I think the I think the bears mind transportation is is the bears would be open to this situation based on how would transpire and really quick as one listener put at George basically pooh-poohed the overtime thing and the flag being review. -able? Do you believe hearing that from one of thirty two owners that more owners will have his sort of take no rule will be chain? I think he will you saw the co-. The catch rule was took forever to change. My guess is the majority of them feel the same way. Well, how are we really going to be able to do to Kate this? How are we going to be able to do this subjectively and smoothly? And my guess is is also the the overtime. My guess is. They're not going to be a change in on either front with these particular items that I will say, you know, going back on what you ask. I thought it was re revealing that look they don't have a hard and fast rule. Dealing with Kareem hunt or anybody else in the domestic violence front to to be continued. This story is gonna play out in may play out right here in Chicago. Let's get to JD right now covered. The Chuck Pagano press conference..

"Are running by design and his improvisational ability. Come into play. So that's what you get with the Cowboys. The Cowboys need to be close in the third and fourth quarter of games. That's exactly what happened against Seattle. And then those games become very winnable. And as I said that's when Prescott ability comes into play, but throughout their their philosophical approach is such the they don't ask Prescott to do very much their past game is very basic. But they have the best back in the league. And they have a really good defense. They certainly do. It is fun watching the way their defense flies around. And if you like it almost happened overnight. I know. I mean, you know, we always felt like they had they'd run. Mill Rodman Manelli did a really good job. I guess crystal shards. Getting a lot of credit. I don't know what the balance of power is. None of us do unless you're there. But their defense is really good. And look it's a distinct profile, and you know, with a quarterback that has improvisational ability and running ability then you can theoretically make enough plays. But keep one thing in mind. I mean, you know, you talk about that that third and fourteen running play that play was called to kick a field goal Ross. I mean, they didn't want Prescott with a seventeen fourteen lead. I believe at the time. I could be wrong. I thought it was seventeen fourteen at the time. They didn't want him throwing the ball there. They call the running play on third and fourteen. So, you know, yeah. He ended up making a great play. But you it's all part of their philosophy. It really is. And that was a tremendous effort by him though, phenomenal effort, he's great. And that's that's what he is. But but that's their profile. It's not going to change. You know, I I actually think they match up pretty well. With the Rams, I'm. So I can't I can't I don't pick games because I just don't do that. Because as you know, give you ten reasons I need side. But I think this is going to be very competitive game that the Cowboys could win. I agree. I feel the same way with colts and chiefs, don't you? Yes. I do because I think the colts can score. You know, I think that Andrew luck is throwing the ball extremely well. Right now. I and we know that she's defense. They were very good pass rush defense at times. But they're also a team that Russia's three more than any defense in the league. So you know, I think that the colts will be able to move the ball. And I think they're run game can be a factor here yet. I I would tend to agree with that as well. It's amazing. That's what's so cool about the playoffs. This year is that you know, second weekend in a row, I can see any of the road teams underdog teams winning. Let's get to the chargers and. The patriots. Because I thought it was really interesting Greg because United specifically talked about the value that they're chargers might have had having played the ravens for the second time in three weeks. And I don't know how much of it was that Greg and how much of it was some of the stunting that Gus Bradley did. But that was by far the best job anybody's done against you know, the ravens running attack. And of course, none of that will mean one thing this week because it's a totally different team. They're playing, but they're defensive profiled versus the ravens was very clear. It was what we call dollar personnel. Seventy -fensive backs reduced front's very often. You know, what that means where they cover the center and essentially to three techniques they played cover three on almost every snap until late in the game. They hard the I don't think they blit maybe two times in the game. They brought a fifth rusher. And they did a lot up front. They had Ingram and Bosa. Playing inside quite a bit to get match ups that favored them, and that was a great approach. Now. Like, I said they'll have Ingram in both inside because they do that's part of something they do every week, but the overall approach and it was instructive to go back. And look these two teams played last year the chargers on DR predominantly a dime defense as it is so against the ravens, they added the seventy passive back. But when they played the patriots last year and did a pretty good job on defense against them. They play predominantly dime with sixty -fensive backs. Is it weird though, Greg that they played that many DB's against a rushing attack? Like, the ravens, well, you know, the the conventional wisdom would be that you want to line up with big people against certainly an inside dive running game that goes said words presents. But I think they felt they wanted to speed they didn't want Jackson to outflank them. And I think they felt that the reduced front that they could take away the dive. Because then you're just you know, becomes a man on a man, but you're shutting down and closing down the inside as you know Ross. So I think that was their approach they wanted speed over size and power because I think they that's what they felt would be the better way to to minimize that re running attack. So how do you think this match-up against the patriots is going gonna go what what sort of chess match you're looking at there? Well, I thought they did a good job a year ago. The one thing that stood out looking at that tape was how much the backs were featured in the patriots pass game in that game. Last year birkhead had seven catches white had five catches the unalluring. Obviously not there had some catches. There were a lot of check downs. There are a lot of screens. You know, the the patriots. Are they run their staple stuff? I if you really get to the core of the patriots pass game. They do a lot of the same things. They just make it look a little different. But there's certain things that they do every single week staple concept. They'll do that. And as I said the chargers they rely predominantly on their form in D line rush and they play with sixty -fensive backs and they play a lot of own. They will play man more than people think. But they're predominantly a cover three base defense. It's funny. You know, you never say the guy's name, Greg because you're a gentleman and a scholar, but I I was feeling bad for James, Hurst, the raven. Yes card because that was clearly what they thought was the most. Charlie him. Yes. They literally were putting him. Well, as I've been the target before Greg. It's not real fun. I've been I've been the guy that they think is the we can't. So let's put our best rusher over this guy and try to get him one on one, and that's a real bad feeling a real bad now. And and obviously he got benched in the middle of the third quarter. And yes, I yeah. It was it was just one of those things, you know. What are you gonna do? Exactly. I mean and all the times guards aren't used to going against guys with those kinda like bingo now. No. And those movements kills those hands. I mean Ingram had a real good spin move. And it was that that was that was fun to watch painful from hers perspective, but fun to watch in the same light. All right, Greg. Let's get to it Sunday afternoon. The eagles. They did it again against the bears. Now, they're going to try to do it again against the New Orleans Saints. I know you break down. This one very intensely. What do you got for me for the saints and the eagles? Yeah. There's there's a lot. I mean, there's a lot every game. Obviously. I one thing I think you might see in this game. And I don't think it's it's what the saints do kind of as part of their normal. Oh is I think you're gonna see a lot of pressman coverage? And the reason I say that is Nick foles and this offense. And and what what Doug Peterson does with Nick foles is they want the ball out of his hands. They want the ball. They want to pass game to be rhythmic timing based and they want the ball out of his hands because nicks one of those kinds of quarterbacks along or he's in the pocket with the ball, the less effectively is so they try to make him a rhythm player by design, and I think the saints instead of I'm not saying they're not going to rush the quarterback. Of course, every team does. But I think they're going to try to disrupt the timing on the outside with pressman coverage. And that's going to be the number one way they do that. Now, the eagles have been very good on third down. The one thing fall. Has done extremely well as he does throw to the one on ones. So if it's Jeffrey versus Lattimore, let's say falls will throw it to him. And then you then the one on ones come into play. And we'll see how that goes. But that's one thing. I would look for in this game pressman coverage by the saints. I love what about when the saints have the ball. Well, you know, I went back and looked at the last game. And I know it was forty eight seven, but that doesn't mean anything when I go back, and look I look for tactics. Now one thing the eagles did in that game. Which was very very interesting is they had snaps in that game where they doubled both Thomas and Camara. Now, the interesting part of this game the player who might be the wild card. Here is Ted Ginn. He did not play in that game. And he missed most of the season. But he's back and he presents vertical dimension. Now that the eagles really can't handle from coverage standpoint, you know, if they're going to double Thomas, and that is so I think Ted Ginn, and I've spoken to about this before with you that I thought he was the missing element. Even though he's not a volume catcher he presents a vertical dimension both outside and inside from the slot. And I think he could change the way the eagles have to sort of structure their coverage concepts. I love it. Greg terrific stuff as. Always cannot wait to dissect these games with your next week as well as look ahead to conference championships Sunday, gosh, it's going way way too fast. "That's relatively pedestrian. Angela came into the game Agean forty forty passes a game. He threw the ball about twenty seven times yesterday. The Indianapolis Colts came into the game agit twenty five yard twenty five carries per game twenty Russia's per game. They ran the ball thirty nine times. Twenty seven of those carries. What Tamala MAC this dude had one hundred and thirty nine yards. Russia five point one yards. A carry ran all over the Dallas Cowboys his longest run was twenty one yards. So this wasn't wasn't some one big run. And then after that he got neutralize. No, he was chopping a Dallas Cowboys down all afternoon law because the Dallas Cowboys getting beat up at the line of scrimmage, plain, and simple. Did kit quit Nelson? He'll left God. The Indianapolis coach is something special. I'm here to tell you all right now this kid has something special. If you don't know you better ask somebody this kid is something special. Andrew luck is being protected. He's also being protected because they're trying to exercise some semblance of a running game yesterday. It worked to perfection. He was handling the ball off one play after another after another would moving the chains. They were chewing up the clock. I was watching this unfold. I couldn't believe it. I couldn't believe it. And it just family Santa myself. You know, something Indianapolis Colts, no joke. They could be a legitimate threat in the AFC if they get there, and they're able to up end. The Houston, Texas or dare I say still a wildcard spot. It remains to be seen. What will happen at ballot with the Baltimore? I'm sorry. Baltimore. They're battling with the Baltimore Ravens. I gotta look at them and say, hey, I can't ignore this picture right now. Charges got the fifth c locked up assuming they don't win the AFC west. And if it's not them, it's probably going to be the Kansas City Chiefs. So that six pot that you're talking about Miami gets blitz yesterday on the outside looking in you got Baltimore and Indianapolis battling for now to Indianapolis has won seven of its last eight. And if you're the Dallas Cowboys, here's what makes it so much more inexcusable. Everybody's like what did the Dallas Cowboys? What did the coach to? Why were they able to neutralize Dallas Cowboys so much fair civilization, gentlemen? Frank, right. Head coach for the Indianapolis Colts. He was in office coordinator where last year. Philadelphia Eagles renting defending Super Bowl champions. He was the office coordinator you pick. He's not familiar with Cowboys. I think he is. He was there as the offensive coordinator for a couple of years. I think he's very familiar with the Dallas Cowboys. His defensive coordinator, Matt a booth Buber floss who what birth Lewis who birth Lewis EIB F L US, if I messed up the pronunciation of your name, sir. My apologies a birth Louis. The defensive coordinator where was he? Where was he the previous seven or eight years? You know, where he was laser gentleman. He was the linebackers coach in Dallas vast majority of the latter years under Rodman Manelli the defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys. He kind of knows what they like to do. So you got a defensive coordinator film familiar with the Dallas Cowboys. You gotta head coach was an offense coordinator familiar with the Dallas Cowboys. This is what you walk into yesterday's game with if you were to Indianapolis Colts. How in the hell did the Dallas Cowboys missed that? How did they miss that? I gotta tell ya. That's just not good. That is just simply pathetic. And the way I look at it. There's no excuse for it. You gotta know better. And these are the kind of games that Jason Garrett has religiously messed up. Yes. They'll be competitive. Yes. They'll fight you. They don't always get blown out the damn sure. They'll get shut up. But in the end, what can go wrong usually does go wrong and a Dallas Cowboys rarely deviate from that. Which is why they lost yesterday's game. And so now what we have is the potential of Christmas arriving early for me. Ladies, gentlemen. Here's why. The Dallas Cowboys. Because the Philadelphia Eagles upset the Los Angeles Rams last night because the Washington Redskins won. We have a situation right now. Ladies gentlemen, where the Dallas Cowboys with games against Tampa at home in on a new year and the season finale avenue, you'll just let me tell you what the scenario is..

"He was saying, we need more points. We gotta keep playing defense, but we need more points. That's what Bella check was yelling out at halftime. We need more points as players coming out, getting them going. So when you hear a coat saying, we need more points, you know, at some point, this offense is about the kind of wake up and explode or make some adjustments there really good and you can. You can try and do certain things, but you better have a lethal offense to. Keep up and catch things get out of control. I'm with you and the chiefs are pretty much I I guess they're the face of 2018 NFL football along with the Rams like you say. But it occurs to me that it's very easy fan base is all obsess about their team to the negative. And every if you ask twenty nine fan base is what's wrong with your team right now. They would say we, we're not planning any defense. You can't give me a team right now. The points great on on on everything while but especially with there's just no defense outside of Baltimore being played. So do use Minnesota's plan better on defense. I would say Baltimore just show they were playing better on defense. They shut down to an ac- Cowboys have a good Cowboys play, whether they give up seven points. I don't know what whatever magic potion Rodman Manelli. Good for the penny always. I don't know what he does. Cleveland defense was playing really well. I mean, there's some teams out that out a wake-up Jacksonville. I know they've taken a hit the last couple of weeks. Look, those guys are still on at the same name, same talent. They'll wake up like, I don't panic in week six and seven. I'm not panicking the good teams and good defense is good offense. They'll wake up at some point if they don't, then they won't be in the playoffs, but there's some good defenses out there. And do you buy? And it feels like forever ago that the AFC title game in Foxboro that the Jags really could have won that game. You could make a case they should have wanted him..
