"That Bloomberg report I told you about yesterday, the one that had Apple reportedly cutting iPhone 13 orders this quarter by 10 million units thanks to a lack of processors from Broadcom in Texas Instruments. Lots of forget about it today from the financial front. Apple three ran part of a note from Morgan Stanley analyst Katie Huberty if people are selling. She says she's buying. After saying that she and hers have heard nothing concrete about iPhone production bottlenecks, Huberty's note says regardless of whether supply challenges become more pronounced near term, we'd remind investors of three data points that support a by the view on the back of supply driven disruption. Those are said by the analysts to include preferential treatment from suppliers and ability to beat the odds as witness from the start of the pandemic through the end of 2020, and the customer base that will wait for iPhones to be available rather than jump ship. Puberty has an overweight rating on Apple shares, or a price target on the shares is $168. Coming in just as bullish as Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives. That piece from Apple insider gathered up the thoughts of a few analysts, including his, like puberty, Ives, things would be iPhone buyers will wait. Taking a step back, he writes 5 million to 10 million units moving out of the December quarter into the March quarter due to well understood supply chain issues is not a worry for us and ultimately speaks to a stronger demand trajectory than the street had been anticipating. He is double plus positive on Apple shares, his price target on the shares is $185. JPMorgan analysts amygdala says analysts should have seen production cuts coming or really that cuts should not be completely surprising. While every 5 million iPhones postponed is about ten cents off December quarter earnings per share in his estimation, those phones will eventually be made and sold. Quoting Apple insider, chattery notes that JPMorgan has continuing to see demand and interest for the iPhone 13 lineup, tracking better than investor expectations. He says the supply issues may only push the timing of upside for apple investors. He digs Apple shares in a positive way, his price target on the shares is $180. I have no use for Goldman Sachs analyst rod hall, where apple is concerned. He has been nothing but wrong on the company for at least a couple of years now. Apple insider chose to include him in their roundup for some reason. I guess it is worth mentioning that not every analyst is shrugging off the Bloomberg report, but E or is always going to be E or why ask him about the weather. Rod hall has a hold reading on Apple shares, his price target on the shares is $140. Now the punchline. There may be no iPhone production reduction. Mac rumors highlights a pay walled report from digit times that says component suppliers for apple's new iPhones have claimed no cut back in orders thus far this year. When it comes to product rumors, I tend to distrust digit times. When it comes to the supply chain, I don't know how far I trust the site, but what they say is worth noting. Even if the Bloomberg story is correct, it's not that big of a deal, according to oh. It's not that big of a deal, according to another report from Bloomberg. Earlier this year, a Bloomberg says, Bloomberg said that Apple had ordered roughly 90 million iPhone 13s through years and that would have been a 20% increase from the 75 million units that it is typically ordered in previous years according to the report. Lop 10 million off the 90 million and the latest Bloomberg piece as you're still ahead of where iPhone 12 was at a similar time in its initial run. Yes, there are things to worry about, but the Bloomberg report isn't one of them so says the other Bloomberg report. NDAs have ended for the Apple watch series 7 reviews. The verdict looks like Apple has another winner on its hands or your wrists. Apple must pull money quotes from a slew of sources, TechCrunch, the independent and CNBC, all see the bigger screen as a big improvement, I knew like the bigger display as well, though they don't see the need for an upgrade unless you're a sporting a series three or earlier. And gadget seems to feel the same way for any one sporting a series 5 or earlier. I didn't see one dang against the series 7 that I kind of felt as well. Apple and cider also gathered a number of reviews, including one from marques brownlee. Quoting the site. He is disappointed with the range of colors now available particularly for the base aluminum model. Apple doesn't offer a neutral color for the aluminum baseline Apple watch. He says, I repeat no neutral colored aluminum. I know some people might consider the starlight model pretty neutral he says. But it definitely has a warmer hue than a silver wood and midnight has a slight blue hue much more than a black wood. I wondered about that. I suspect the midnight model had in my way will be close enough to black or space gray for me. That would have been happy going brushed aluminum again, no. Anyway, if you're cool with the colors, brownlee says the series 7 is the best overall smart watch for the iPhone still. Make way for another big bunch of beta updates, apple inside around a couple of reports Wednesday, one of those says that the fourth betas of iOS, iPadOS and tvOS, 15.1, we're out to developers along with the fourth beta of watchOS 8 one meanwhile the other report said that the tenth beta of macOS Monterey was out to the same developer crew. If you're in the developer program, they are there for the taking. If you're in the public beta program, there is a pretty decent chance they'll turn up for you. Sometime today. Apple has taken the fight against sideloading to well I was going to say the paper, but it's the 21st century. That said, building a trusted ecosystem for millions of apps, a threat analysis of side loading would be 31 pages long if we did the whole paper thing. Instead, Apple three says the Cupertino company posted its response to the EU's proposed digital markets act to its site I have not read it yet. I can't even pretend I have the part pulled by Apple three, has apple making the same argument it's made time and again. Outside the walled garden, there be monsters. Inside, when monsters get in, apple can kill them. If side loading from third party app stores were supported, says Apple, malicious apps would simply migrate the third party stores and continue to, in fact, consumer devices. So goes part of apple's argument. I hope to read through the report in the coming days. If you'd like to, too, it's available through Apple cite. You can find that at Apple dot com slash privacy..

"rod hall" Discussed on Exchanges at Goldman Sachs
"This is exchanges at goldman sachs alison nathan of goldman sachs research. Today we're going to explore the global chip shortage and why it's causing major real world consequences to do that. I'm joined by three of my colleagues and goldman sachs research to she a hurry. Could i use our and rod hall. Will i turned into a shia. Who covers the us. Semiconductors sectors for us to shiite. Welcome to the program. Thanks having me also does she. These semiconductor chip shortage is impacting. So many industries were seeing nearly daily stories about industry. Being disrupted by rewind the clock for us and describe how the industry got to this point. Sure so if we rewind the clock too early twenty twenty the semiconductor industry had just gone through a prolonged downturn germ primarily by inventory corrections light chain and in our view was on the verge of a cyclical upturn but then kobe hit in the spring and the knee jerk reaction on the part of the customers of the semiconductor companies that we cover was to reduce or cancel orders in anticipation of weaker demand environment. What transpired immediately post. The emergence of covid and during the pandemic was very different though. And if anything the complete reverse happened in minneapolis nations. Many of us working from home learning from home went out and bought things. Pc's game consoles wifi router and demand for cars increases. Well as people moved the suburbs and avoid taking public transportation on the supply side of the equation not only did the suppliers step on the breaks when customers reduced or cancelled orders but the lockdown measures that were in place across many regions. Made it very difficult for the supply chain to react and to increase production and furthermore there have been a number of executives events or natural disasters for example the winter storm in texas earlier this year that have been destructive to supply recovering over time so in a nutshell alison. The shortage has been caused by a combination of better than expected demand and also very bumpy recovery on supplies. You mentioned some reasons. Why supply is taking so long to respond. But it's been over a year now. So what explains that length of delay of course so it does take a very long time for semiconductor companies to increase output. It takes time to purchase the tools it takes time to install the tools and the actual manufacturing. The chips takes a couple of months as well to give you some context for a front end. Wafer-processing tool elite times can be as long as six to nine months sometimes longer installing and testing the tools before going into mass production can take several weeks or a couple of months. Depending on the factory and the actual production of semiconductor joke can be as long as four months depending on the device. Type so assuming. Many companies in the industry came to the realization that there was going to be a severe of chips in late. Twenty year early. Twenty twenty one and placed orders. Then there likely accepting delivery of those tools just around now or sometime in q three and would have access to the actual only in q four and this is all assuming that a company already had the space and the cleanroom place to the extent accompany is starting from scratch or applaud land. It would take multiple years as opposed to multiple quarters. So when do you expect the situation to get better. We do think peak shortage is in q two so the current quarter we expect tightness to ease somewhat in q. Three more so into q. Four definitely the twenty twenty two that said given the expectation for companies up and down the supply chain to restock inventory to a level that exceeds pre pandemic levels. We would expect another couple of quarters of strong semiconductor sell in for the entire supply chain to be comfortable with overall maturity levels suing the week of of this are semiconductor companies making any longer term changes to their supply chains. And what about customers. Or policymakers are there any efforts there to reduce the strains on the industry so in the short term clearly companies are increasing cutbacks and trying to address the shortage through. I suppose traditional measures the one big change that appears to be happening which is a little bit more. Fundamental structural long-term is customers and customers customers are increasingly willing to share their meeting too long term demand forecasts with the supplier base and more importantly in some cases they're willing to sign long term contracts that provide more transparency and more predictability for the supplier. This way the semiconductor companies can plan ahead and they can invest with less hesitation which in turn will reduce the risk of severe shortages for the customer. Going forward as well separate from this. You're seeing sovereign states. Not just the united states but governments around the world getting involved. Many governments have announced funding for the semiconductor industry. Some governments are in the process of writing up policies to fund the domestic semiconductor industries to a address. The shortage be create more robust mobile supply chains and see for national security purposes as well companies like intel. Some have publicly stated their intention to build capacity in the us also in europe. So i think that's the other mental chains that seems to be happening in response to the current shortage of some. So what does this mean for investors and for semiconductor stocks. The big enemy if you will. I mean conductor stocks. The industry historically a really to this day has been volatility or is cyclicality the peak to trough and trough to peak changes again historically have been really really large and frankly that's been the biggest reason for these stocks to be trading at a significant discount to the broader market to the extent. There's tighter collaboration. Between the suppliers and customers again in the form of for example launch contracts and to the extent the volatility of the cyclicality is reduced. Going forward that should show up in the form of higher multiples for these stocks whether the semiconductor stocks semi type of government stocks and that should obviously serve as a positive for the investor. Bases sounds like this is going to continue to unfold. Thanks so much for laying this out for us today. To shia venture program will now turn to coulda yuzawa of goldman sachs research in tokyo. Who's been covering the auto and auto parts sector for more than fifteen years. Kodo welcome to the program. I thank you for having me coda. The makers have been among the hardest hit by the chip shortage. Can you explain the factors that have made this industry sue vulnerable. Sure i think now a couple of things. First of all oto accounts for less than ten percent of the global sin the context of supply and on the back of covid nineteen situation. There was a severe allocation battle than when those conductor and the consumer simpson actor and historically oto semiconductor as less profitable business force in front of the company. But it's not easy to make old toll simcoe connector where for factory into the consumer stick. It doesn't be two additional lines of or smart. foreign semiconductor. factory cannot be used for audubon actor. So what happened is that there was a big declining old demand on the back of covid. Nineteen automaker stress order to emcee but at the same time there was another very big. No are increase all of a sudden. Then.

"Cabinet. You have a lot of fun while you go down with the ship one last thing before we end predictions from both of you if you are willing to make them we've talked about a bunch of incumbents who are facing primary challenges here are any of them going to lose. Some of them are in strong danger. But currently i don't think any of them gonna lose but final predictions when it comes to these primaries will be out shortly before the primary in june but currently i don't think any of them are gonna lose though some are vulnerable some more than others but yeah currently i would bet all the incumbents but You know there's still some time for that to change in these races. I would definitely say Lopez and levin of those. I would say tied for first place. Those are the ones i would say are the most interesting and at most dangerous Out also smears is probably up there as well probably the number two spot. So i think being lopez type i i will be watching the lopez race closely as a former constituent of alfons a-as but i think ultimately he's going to be fine. Incumbents are always incumbents when more than eighty eight percent of the time when there's a primary challenger incumbents who are most likely to lose and there's a big ashes there because most likely to lose doesn't necessarily mean likely in my opinion are guzman. Just because you have some interesting drama unfolding with rod hall and something tells me that the black vote and prince. William county is more substantial than the hispanic vote and prince william county but we'll see mark levin one on one against an incredibly strong primary challenger at least by the number of votes that she's proven capable of getting out of alexandria city and then ebrahim samarra verse. Irene chen i think irene chen is incredibly strong. Challenger she got the endorsement janet howell in that district. And that isn't easy to get when you are trying to take on an incumbent and so she is absolutely one to watch though. "It's kind of astonishing how hard they flopped in recruitment here on this episode of transition. Virginia why are we firing. The incumbent democratic primaries in the house of delegates do not rule this out burn upset or more than a dozen incumbent. Democrats are facing primary challenges. Yes so you can listen to it on spotify apple podcasts. Google podcasts on. You can either to search on those aps c analysis podcasts. Or you can go to cnn. Dot com and click on podcast and Click on the icon for the streaming service of choice great. Let's get into these house. Primaries democrats across virginia have primaries and some of the most interesting ones are. Also some of the most bizarre. We've got a handful of house. Democrats who are defending their own seats at home while also simultaneously running for statewide office. This actually never happens in virginia politics that somebody's name would literally be on the ballot twice. Once near the top of the ticket for lieutenant governor primary and then once again lower down on the ballot for defending their house seat there were four of these people and one of them recently dropped out of her statewide race to focus on her house seat. I'm of course talking about delegate. Elizabeth guthman has three primary challengers. One of them is very heavily. Funded chaz of this primary in virginia house district thirty one. The elizabeth guzman race. I think it was smart for her to drop down to this house delegates race because she was in a lot of trouble of losing it. Rod hall has got a lotta money. He's also at the endorsement of delegate bag be recently who's the top dog at the black caucus and now that guzman's back at her home turf. I think she's favored a shift. The argument of how heavily she's favored. I think you know hall can still pull off an upset here. Guzman hasn't incumbency advantage. She's got three other people running against her So i think that definitely helps her out. And you know she's gonna be transferring money over to her delegate account here soon and Yeah i think goose bond will Win this primary. But you know. I wouldn't count out rod hall but i would count out the other two candidates. That's idris o'connor and karaoke attack. I don't think they really have much of a shot here. Given the split fueled and the lack of resources. Yeah it was a good move for delegate goose guzman to drop out. She is not a viable statewide candidate. Unfortunately at this point in time and because she had no path to victory all she could do was lose her ability to champion her favorite causes and her district and the general assembly the caucus had a rod hall to run for delegate to replace guzman. however now that guzman's back. I've checked in with some of the people at the caucus and they do not know what's going to happen next. On that front rod hall had gotten the endorsements of luke. Torian and senator scott servile. It seems like prince. William county was starting to rally around hall. We'll see what happens now. That goes back in the race. Guzman is a favourite champion of labor and labor being so loyal i would imagine that they will back her for her delegate rotten reelect but their endorsements at the statewide level for lieutenant governor are up for grabs we've got some locals with ib w and the carpenters and asks me who endorsed her. And potentially one of the other candidates still in the race could qualify for those endorsements instead so guzman is no longer in. The lieutenant governor's race but one candidate who is is delegate mark levin. This is house district forty-five so delegate levin is trying to defend his house district and win that race while also trying to win the race for lieutenant governor. He has a challenge in that house race from the vice mayor of alexandria. Elizabeth bennet parker Now i actually live in the forty fifth. And i've interviewed ben parker and levin and i can tell you that she is just as liberal as he is so there's no daylight between them in terms of she's not running to his left or his right in terms of the issues there right sort of aligned with each other but she does get to knock levin for trying to run twice and fact i recently quoted her as saying this district deserve someone who has fully focused on them which is a something that any of these challenges can make against the double filers. Chaz what do we make of house district forty-five bean race. Yeah i think in trouble like you said a better. Parker is the vice mayor. She's raised over one hundred grand for it. Thus far in levine's trying to go for the statewide nomination. I don't think he has a shot at this. I'll be frank with you. I don't think there's really any scenario. Where levine is the nominee for the democrats. Lieutenant governor a think there could be an argument. Made that parker. I don't know whether she wants to or is running through her left. But i think they are definitely some issues to where she could kind of create that narrative is so chooses levin has taken cop money i know he endorsed biden in the primary. I don't know that you know obviously in primary. He endorsed for president. year ago. Much issue but you know. I think If if ben parker wants to create the narrative at least that she is running to his left she can. I'm not sure that would be possible because mark levin is really on the liberal leftist side of the democratic caucus and he's for things like the assault weapons ban in fact when i interviewed him he said he was even for registration of firearms. Which would be like way. Farther than most democrats would be willing to go. And then when. I asked elizabeth anna park about that. She said oh. Yeah i'd be for that too. So i really don't think.
We are spending more on smartphone apps than ever before
"More signs that we're spending more in the app store. I told you yesterday of global numbers from any those had folks spending record amounts in apple's app store as well as the google play store both seeing revenue growth of forty percent in the first quarter of twenty twenty one with combined revenue of thirty two billion dollars. Now a piece from tech crunch has new data from sensor tower estimating how much iphone and one assumes ipad users are spending on apps here in the states according to the center tower estimates iphone users in the us spend an average of one hundred thirty eight dollars on apps and twenty twenty. A number of the firm expectancy grow. It's kind of funny but not there was a piece ice. On apple's read out oh that had goldman sachs analysts hall being so rod hall. I couldn't bring myself to bring you the report blending down. He still has a cell rating on apple shares. That's partly because he sees op store revenue taking a dive as the country. Reopened post covid. Nineteen so he can't imagine apple doing well but he has no problem imagining things getting back to normal so fast. It hurts apple's line. That's beyond imagining for center tower. They say the record up spend by consumers ends one twenty twenty was driven by the great hunker down. And guess what's going to drive growth in twenty twenty one. According to the report senator tower tells tech crunch it expects the trend of increased consumer spend continuing twenty twenty one when it projects consumer spend per active iphone in the us to reach an average of one hundred eighty dollars. This will again be tied at least in part to the left caused by the pandemic and particularly the lift and pandemic fueled spending on mobile games because right mobile games where the big winner in twenty twenty
Goldman Sachs way off in PC expectations, consumer and commercial sales up
"There's misreading the numbers then. There's yesterday's note from goldman sachs analyst rod hall. He and his missed expectations in the december quarter by a lot missing march. Twenty twenty four missing in june. Okay missing in september fine but the amount he missed nine months into the pandemic look. I'm not saying i could do it. But i'm also not getting paid. Who knows how many tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of dollars to do it. Apple's read auto in part of a note whole wrote according to his firm's data. Pc shipments for the december quarter hit eighty nine point seven million units up twenty six percent year on year beating the bank's expectation by twenty one percent consumer side sales. Were up twenty. Seven percent beating their expectation by eighteen commercial. Sales were up. Twenty five percent beating their expectation by twenty four percent while he's apparently good at being wrong about computers. in general. We've come to know hall over the past couple of years for being wrong about apple in particular. Didn't used to be that way. Not sure what changed whatever it was. He doesn't appear to be changing back quoting his note. Apple rose thirty five percent year on year. End up with the sheriff fifteen percent up. One percentage point year-on-year that we note that. I'm wanting max where likely in short supply in the corridor. Quoting another part of his note. Hp lost share due to supply constraints while apple grew slightly faster than the market driven. In part by. Its new am one. Max looking ahead. We expect this general p strength to persist in the first half but we can in the second half driven by reopening as well as tougher compares to be fair hall said basically the same thing in a note back in december still do atypically typically apple three dot did not list halls rating and price target on apple shares. The last mentioned the boat was in the wake of apple's last call when hall stuck to his cell rating on apple shares. He did up as priced at that time. Though from eighty dollars to eighty three dollars since then shares have gotten as high as one hundred thirty seven dollars though. They've spent most of their time in the one hundred. Twenty something dollar range.

And then you just grab a nice piece of pursuit, and just shove it in the pillow in poverty, their mouth, and it was gonna sounds good. But if you come over and bake bread for me, and I'll bet you that. Yeah. But what is the rebel rally? Okay. So the rebel rally is it's a ten day event. Seven of those days are competition, one of those ten days is sort of days zero, so it's sort of like a trial day, but it's not that's not scored for points. It's an off road rally that you are not allowed to use GPS force. So it is a map, and compass, navigation rally local version of the gazelle rally that happens like it's an hour. If my understanding of I've never done the Zales, but I think the bills is a little bit different. This one is really about going and collecting checkpoints. And you, you use a map and a compass to navigate they take your cell phone away for like seven days. Beacon have. Yeah. You have a stat phone, which I definitely used because. Well, it's a big story, but I can tell you the story. So, so. Yeah, so it say it's all off road. It starts up in like Tahoe and sort of cuts down the sort of the side of, of Nevada, and then cuts in through California, and you're basically just going the backside like so passes through like to Walney, and then you go through like the gold, like old gold mine areas and through Dumont dunes and. Yes, I have a really shitty story about Dumont dunes. So I'll say this. I didn't I didn't know like my guy asked me to do this for the drive and he didn't really know what it was. And I'm like, dude, you know, it's like ten fucking days like you'd better pay me a lot of money to do this. And I started talking to Emily Miller, who is the woman who runs it, Emily. Miller's this world like world famous like offroad racing who used to who used to drive for rod hall, and like I mean, she's really I mean amazing in her own right. And she really wanted there to be a rally in the, you know, in the US, and it just happens to be that this rally is off is for women, and so she really, I met her, and she and I connected and she's like a really want you to do this, and, you know, Mike was sort of, was vacillating, and, like, well, gosh ten days, like I don't know if it's a long time, and I was like, look, I'm willing to do this, because I think it'd be a great experience. But you need a teammate. He needs someone to, to, to navigate with you. And, and so there was this other woman who lost her driving partner. And so she put us together, and I remember FaceTime, timing her, and I was like, okay, well, my first question for was like, are you super competitive? Live choose like I don't really think so. And I, I should have read into it, then but, you know, she has four young kids below the age of, like, you know, ten so, she's definitely like the type A personality. And I knew that she would be the Boston. I'm sorry. I don't know. I can't read. Yeah. Well, when you have kids when you're like you're basically, like Boston people around your whole life, and they're just like small people. I figured okay? She'll be the mom in the car. Sit down sit down sit down. No turn here, turning north more throw more throttle, basically did I say, and honestly, like the first couple of days. We're good. And then the third day like the wheels is fucking came off, like we got lost. And we went off in one direction. We lost a couple of hours and she was a skilled driver. But not.

Mario Rivera the sand, man. First unanimous entry into the a major league hall of fame me think about major league hall of fame. And I know it's not as popular as it once used to be. But I mean, come on to really ease. The on the first one. I mean, you think about baseball, and how many people, and we talked about this Babe Ruth. Well, maybe the maybe the Boston maybe the Boston people didn't like him or something like that, you know, but I'm talking cow Ripken. He's he's close to us being normal. Right. Why why wouldn't he or Ken Griffey junior? Everybody loves Griffey. Don't they? We come home. That's he was the guy when I was growing up the kid. I mean, he's catch. I mean think about oh, yeah. Everybody I had the video game. Yeah. My brother Mike head is rookie card. We thought it was like the greatest thing that we were going to retire off that bad boy. But I mean, that's incredible. How do you know what we said during the break? I mean, maybe Rivera was it a hitter. And he didn't make anybody mad or anything like that. You know, will again with most put guys that play a position you can usually find some weakness of their game. Not every hall of fame hitter. Is a great fielder. Right. You know, if they weren't a great segue basement, even if they were a five hundred whatever the case may be you can ease. It's easier to find in even a starting pitcher because they pitch so much. Eventually, they give up a lot of runs this that you can find some weakness in that argument. Okay. You can't find a weakness in. I mean in emerging is because Rivera because Rivera out all he did was throw them out straight people L left and right. Yeah. I mean, he had that. One pitch one pitch. Yeah. We won the championship. One pitch. He is the first unanimous. How does that happen? I mean, really thinking about it. I mean, I you know, what I and I'm very controversial here hit us with Jay MO. Very bonds. And Roger Clements, they need to be in in the hall of fame, and wait a minute. I know you're gonna say Jayme know this and that but remember the time the times were everybody knew everybody knew it. I'm sorry. They knew it. They encouraged it. They did it. They knew they did it. But then all of a sudden when everybody found out guess what? Oh, no. We can't have been hall of fame. Everybody got holier than thou. I'm sorry. That's your time and your period that is what happened during that time. But ceilings in the hall of fame. How does bug seal it gets in he oversaw this? He gets into hall of fame. Sorry, and they were wait a minute. They were hall of famers. They really didn't need to do that stuff. Really? If you think about it. Roger clemens. Dude, come on. How do you know that they would have gotten there? How do you know that they wouldn't have continued to put up the numbers? I don't know. I look at a ride you look at him at the start of his career, which he was again, a tremendous player even Barry Bonds. Both those guys their body would have never naturally grown out that way, he would've added weight they would have grown up, but they will get through the way that they're buying. And again, I bring up a rod because. Brought up a-rod. I didn't say a rod hall of fame. I didn't bringing up a ri-. I was just breaking guys. Okay. You guys that that's a fair. That's a fair assessment. That's what I was gonna ask. You was if you feel like the steroid guy should be and do you think Pete Rose should be? I been I been hey, we're supposed to be a forgiving people. Correct. I mean, we look he he did something wrong. He's admitted that he's done something wrong. I don't know if he's apologized. Sounds like he's apologized. Many times. Look, how do you move on from something? If you don't forgive something baseball. He's one of baseball's greats like it or not. Let him in. That's where everybody used to wanna be let him in. I'm just saying. He was he was the face for a long time. But so Jamie, are you. Are you of said that this is the first time? Do you think that there's other people as I said should have been one hundred percent? Wait a minute. How do you not make Cal Ripken? If anybody Cal Ripken come on. This is a guy who never missed a game for how many years really Keno heart that problem health continuing those streaks chef a little bit. I look I get it. I get it. Yeah. There's a lotta help. But he did. And he did it. He was an iron, man. I mean any. I get it. But he people got to see him day in and day out day out night. Boom, boom. You stop Yankees were winning scenario. I look I'm okay with Mariano being unanimous. I'm saying this should have they should have been more. I get why Babe Ruth is it wasn't unanimous. I get why. Ty Cobb was it unanimous. I get that was a different time. And the writers they had more power. If they didn't like, it ain't like you. You know it as well as I did. Well, yeah. Because at this again, we talk about the court of public opinion during so much more prevalent here today back then it could be okay. The writers have a grudge. That's it. You know, people are very there's so much information available where you can look up. How a certain player compares to a hall of Famer. So really the numbers. It's at this point the numbers almost speak for the if the numbers don't mix because we I mean, the olive aims are older now. So you can look at things and say, okay, he belongs in the hall of fame his numbers justify his position. What he hits everything like that? You can look at it and say he's a hall of Famer. Has there been a more clear? Cut example of that in your lifetime. Then Mariano Rivera. Geico to me because to me, I think he might. The kid. The kid would be up there Ken Griffey junior count rip would also people 'cause people different things against their from people Griffey because he had those injuries. He could have been he I I understand that. But people can compare what he was to what they think he could have been I get it. I do certain, you know, certain things like that. When I think of Griffey bonds, obviously, the steroids is what's holding them back. But for guys in my lifetime. I don't know if there's been a more I shy for one hundred percent. Pure shot like one hundred percent gonna be in that hall of fame. Then me you. I mean, if you're looking at it if you really looking at he's he I mean, he doesn't he doesn't. He doesn't play. How many innings does he really get in? I mean, honestly, I mean if you want to if you want to nitpick, that's what I'm saying. If we want to nitpick, but again, it's now it's it's hall of fame. What does it mean his his stats as a closer are bar? None clearly number one and again, Jamie. The I did look it up that stat that is so astounding more men have walked on the moon twelve. The men who have scored a postseason run against Mariano Rivera. And that's incredible eleven I get it. Holy crap. Cas nine ninety six World Series and been off and rolling ever since. Then. Twenty year career. I agree with you. And everything you say, but there's also guys that should have been unanimous that have played baseball. Did. I mean, you, you know, he's a hall of fame you everybody you knew that one guy that's a hall of Famer right there. You know, that's the hall of fame. But there's again there's everybody else usually because of the positions. I mean, I guess they don't worry. I'll give you Hank. Aaron another guy that was one. I was waiting for you to bring me really, Hank. Aaron. Some people may not have liked teddy pass, Babe Ruth. I get it. But he did. And when he was up, why wasn't he? Me that that's a gold standard, and he passed it. I mean, look, maybe that's maybe this trend starts from a new maybe maybe not though we'll see. But I'm just I'm giving you people you think you like it. I get Jackie Robinson. I get that. I get why. But again, I don't know. I don't know if you're going to see this again because even a guy that as I was sitting back here talking with MS that he brought up Derek Jeter. Do you think he's going to be a hundred percent unanimous hall of Famer should be? But won't I don't think he will be should be. But won't he'll get the ninety percentile though, you'll get there. He's good. Dude. He was just really good. I mean, he went what he meant what he meant to that team. What he did for that organization. That's and that was the meaning. But if you look at him, but now we're have the strongest arm from shortstop was you know, was he the best. Are you a Rotman butter shortstop? He came over what we say, he just one DOE. I'm really glad he led the team to win. But Jamie, I'm talking about you have to look at all those baseball. You gotta look at his stats more than any other game. Baseball is a game of stats. Sure. I get it. Nerds dorks love baseball to he's got the numbers. But not that outstanding of a numbers compared to other shortstops. Now from the from the field. They know he didn't have their. He didn't have he wasn't that out. He was good again good to above average. But one hundred percent like you see the best shortstop to ever play. I'm not saying that. But again, so many things. But again, that's what people. People are finicky when they bought about these things, and again, people are emotional like you brought a Babe Ruth. What if the those Boston voters, or whatever it is whatever the time is that was the time in Babe Ruth. He wasn't delivering he was he was hurling balls. When he was when he was a Boston. He was hitting boss when he got down to to New York. So I mean, I'm sure there was disgruntled people why didn't he do that here? Well, why'd you trade them? To say, you may you may you may you made some money or something, I don't know. Exactly. But so again, so do you. I don't know. How do you feel about the baseball hall of fame? Do you think that this should be? I mean, do you think he's I think he's very well deserving? I didn't say wasn't deserving. I'm just amazed that he's the first. It took it took this many years for someone to be the first. What I'm saying the old? It's all the same. That's what I'm saying. That long. And here's the problem. And you didn't want people to talk about it like you, and I are talking about it. Shitting you shouldn't make matrix about it about the numbers and every. I mean, I don't know how how Chris Carter how many people voted for Chris Carter or got here. I mean, they could say eighty percent tile, seventy sixty at whatever it takes to get in stop doing that..

I I would not have a first place trophy. So first of all thanks to you in the family for making me one of the kind of the brothers of the the dirt family. I don't know what you guys desert racing. It's like a band of the hand, you know. I mean, we were just talking about it. As a matter of fact, I just posted that picture unrelated to this interview last night because somebody was talking about king of the hammers. And I wanted to buy a five hundred what are you kidding? Anyway. So but so tell us about rod hall drive dot com. The rat hall drive is a really fine organization that that rod created a few years ago. He went through this thing where he was like, I'm going to be retired. And then he was like man being retired. I'm going to create another business. And so that's what he did. So he just had this vision that he wanted to continue his legacy of teaching people how to get the most out of their stock vehicle, and so we decided to integrate Jeep Wrangler and Arctic cat side-by-side. Nice. And now, I've I've taken it in a little bit of a different direction because I love you. I'm have a little bit of a an elegant hardy mixed in with it. And so now, we are introducing a four wheel drive training as well as guided tours for people throughout. The United States really actually all over the world. "You're listening to the drive all across America. And around the world out into outer space to the moon, and then beyond to Mars, and whatever different planets are out past that. I haven't got a friggin clue I didn't do well in school. BJ Colleen is on the line here. And I cut you off there. I'm sorry. We were getting run over by a commercial. You were talking about your your your test drive. Your long-term test drive. You're at sixty thousand miles or coming up to it. You've had nothing but good good. Good times. Good times as they say with the Kia Sedona minivan. And if you don't buy it, I want you to know already. I've already got the hand in the air. I'll take it. Now, you're not taking it. We're going to buy it. I don't think I can get the steering wheel out of Scott hands. I'll be perfectly honest. By the way, we have now posted we've posted that video at the drive with Alan Taylor Dodecanese. You gotta watch it. You know, what let me so. But I didn't mean to cut you off. You had a you've had two years almost and almost zero problems with this vehicle, which is good key is doing a great job. Right. Well, we're really had zero problems with the vehicle. You don't you know, the one thing I think about the battery kept dying off a couple times. But I don't know if that adds up there with the door problem in having it stay open a little bit or something. But we haven't had any dead batteries since. Oh, no. Is there a website give a website on this thing that you can go to Facebook and type in Kia Sedona adventures, you can go to Twitter, it's Kia Sedona MPV? Just search keeps it on on Instagram on tumbler, we're everywhere. Yeah. It's it's it's been a fun dry. But I think that video is too too much. It's just funny. I'm going to change gears a little bit here on the line with us is Shelby hall. She is the granddaughter of the great rod hall who in two thousand six myself and Larry Webster, both at the time with car, and driver magazine, neither of us are there anymore. And of course, I do my radio show here. I paroled Larry's living under a bridge somewhere. But we did win the Baja five hundred with rod hall racing. And Shelby hall is now taking over for her grandpa with the the team the the she's a professional driver trainer event. Facilitator and spokesperson rod hall, drive dot com. If you want to find out more, but I believe and Shelby. Tell me if I'm wrong. I don't think anybody's raised more Baja five hundred or one thousand events than Ron hall. I mean, he's he's like the the dean of of off road driving. Yes. He does hold that record there. This year will be the fiftieth.
Goldman Sachs thinks Apple could be the next Nokia
"Goldman Sachs analyst rod hall may have had the most dire words of worry around. Apple I he thinks weakness in China may make I phone sales even worse than they already look. But the really scary. And if you'll pardon my saying, so silly bids was when he called up the specter of Nokia quoting CNBC peas on halls note to clients. The analyst went further comparing apples to the fallen phone maker Nokia which became reliant on customer upgrades in the face of a saturated market more than a decade ago. Customers delayed replacing their phones for longer and longer as a Konomi slowed Goldman notes Nokia saw rapid expansion of replacement rates in late two thousand seven that was well beyond what any linear forecast would have implied hall said beyond China. We don't see strong evidence of consumer slow down heading twenty nineteen, but we just flagged to investors that we believe Apple's replacement rates are likely much more sensitive to the macro now that the company. Is approaching maximum market penetration for the iphone? I see it. Silly to compare apple to Nokia because Nokia had nothing like the Mike and the ipad and the slew of services that will keep growing. Maybe maybe you can compare the drop in iphone sale to the drop in Nokia sales time will tell it seems crazy to compare the companies apple and Nokia see also the comparison of apple to blackberry, which I did see somewhere as well. Husband neutral on apple for a while. He used Thursday's no to drop his price. Target on the shares from one hundred eighty two dollars to one hundred forty seeming to accentuate the positive was a note from Morgan Stanley quoting apple insiders, take the lengthening of smartphone cycles is seen as a major contributor to Apple's woes.

"Well, you know, look back what the guidance was right? We talked about this in the past where the guidance from people, Goldman Sachs, for example. Right. Rod hall, Goldman Sachs, right? He issued a research note on November twentieth that we'd talked about and that note at the time was downloading apple and his note said that you know, that apple may have miscalculated with the iphone ten our pricing strategy and they cut their price targets. So the headline news area. I list may be rights, which I grant you is quite a headline. You know, we we had discussed that we thought they were wrong, right? That the iphone ten was doing great that things were possibly on target. But you know, they he cut his price target from two hundred twenty two nine and then cut it again from from two zero nine to one eighty two back in November. Okay. So unless gets it rights is still a headlined. We get it wrong is poverty. Internists of headline is less unusual should recite butts A K, I like the fact that at least we've got some actual figures. Now rather than the supposition except I feel that the figures a leading to most of position on. I don't know. I can't what where the line is between just have not. I think it's had for apple. But it doesn't seem as calamitous as some headlines I'm reading so again when he stunned all of this show is mentioned in price. Right. So it was two twenty soon than too. Nine and then one eighty two is the target. Then after this news, we went from you know, one one sixty one fifty something down to one forty five. We dropped eleven points in after hours trading. And I say we were timing. We were talking about apple nut not we as in, you know, my holdings or we as in. We are apple because we are clearly not. But it's you know, they were that that note was talking about miscalculating when setting the price for the iphone ten are the iphone ten are begins at seven fifty and goes on up into the two fifty six model. Did there a number of people who suggest that apple have found the maximum? You can raise the price on an iphone the suddenly tried. Yes. That, you know, the raising the price two thousand plus dollars is the limit the people will bear..
Goldman cuts Apple price target for third time this month
"For apple shares. The downward spiral continues business insider says Goldman Sachs analyst rowdy. Rod hall has lowered his price target on apple shares for the third time this month, though, another story I read said that this was the second target reduction either way it sounds drastic. But it should be remembered that he had and has a neutral rating on apple shares. In other words, he's fine with them at their current level. The thing is their current level keeps dropping less than a month ago. Apple shares were trading around two hundred twenty dollars less than a day ago. They closed just under one hundred seventy seven bucks but nuance is for losers indications in the business. Insider piece are that. Apple shares fell five point six percent. As a result of the Goldman adjustment. Certainly they fell after it quoting the piece in the bearish note on Tuesday, Goldman Sachs analyst rod hall said that it seems like apple miscalculated on the price feature balance for the iphone ten are he added in addition to weakness in demand for Apple's products in China and other emerging markets. It also looks like the balance of price and features and the iphone ten are may not have been well received by users outside of the US. Halls price target on. Apple shares is now one hundred eighty two dollars that is five dollars higher than the one seventy seven at which it closed possibly thanks to halls adjusting his target down to one eighty two.
