"Roco Stream Bar shop now at Rocca, calm Happy Streaming Kitty O'Neil kfbk afternoon news on news 93.1 kfbk Now trending 6 46 now kfbk well, it has been a long and winding road Trying to get Sacramento in with MLS soccer team are sack Republic, Lee. Got all the plans at the rail yards and then we got the news tonight that the lead investor Ron Burkle, has pulled out of the plan. And in fact, the full statement from MLS is printed. I'll just read a brief statement here. He reads it. Earlier today, Ron Burkle informed the league that based on issues with project related to cover, 19. He decided not to move forward with the acquisition of an MLS expansion team in Sacramento. We welcome Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg and thank you so much for joining us this evening. I know this must have hit pretty hard for you tonight. It. Sure did, Kitty. I'm very disappointed. Uh, For our community and for this incredible soccer fan base, But for all the Sacramento of they deserve this. They don't deserve this outcome. Today. They deserve Major League Soccer. Um But While I am disappointed and everyone No shares. In that disappointment. We are not giving up. Um our quest for Major League Soccer is far from done, and the league put out a statement today, as did I. In response to Mr Burkle's decision to pull out that says, In essence, they're going to continue to work with us to try to find the lead investor and we don't start from scratch. We haven't approved stadium plan. We have a great fan base. We have put the deal together. We've lived up to our end of the deal. We need an investor. Who will see Greatness that that Sacramento was all about, and and what it offers in terms of a great business investment and On. We need that investor to follow through with us. And so, um, I think about the King's right. You think about the journey with the Kings and how there were so many times with one ownership group, Another ownership group this atop possible move that possible move. And in the end, the community never gave up. And we now have Not only the NBA, of course in the King's You've got a beautiful arena. Downtown, and that's exactly what we need to keep fighting for. With Major League soccer and we will we'll Mayor, you know you bring up the Kings and, of course, Kevin Johnson really stepped up and took the lead there and you are in a similar position here, and I'll share this with the statement from MLS said, saying. I want to thank Mayor Steinberg for his continued efforts to bring MLS to Sacramento. This is from MLS Commissioner Don Garber. His commitment to the city and delivering for its passionate soccer fans should make all citizens of Sacramento proud. So some very complimentary words to you tonight And from what you're saying there I can tell that this fight is not over for you and our sack Republic. Deserves this. I think that's arguable. Katie. The people deserve this. They've earned it. And you know, I don't wanna shouldn't code it. I mean, efforts fall. I'm grateful for it. Major League soccer in commissioner Garber said. And by the way, they have been great. They have stood by us and, you know, indicated today they're going to continue to stand with us tow. Help us realize. What we have earned. There are no guarantees, of course. But we stay it. We're in good stead with them. You know, a statement about me is very nice. But in the end I want a deal actually deliver for the community. We control what we can control and what we control As a city. We have more than lived up to. We Agreed to invest tens of millions of dollars in infrastructure and the railyards to help bring down the cost the private sector cost of the overall project. Um, we have been full partners. We've lived up to every part of our agreement and This is a setback, but it's not a defeat. There's a difference. Setback is Um, is temporary. Defeat if can be seen is permanent. This is a setback. We are going to continue to fight and We don't have to start from ground zero is going to take time. We wanted to kick off and have, you know, opening night in 2022. Well, that's not going to happen. But, um We don't give up in this city and then in this community, we didn't around the kings and we won't hear their star, bro. Could you address Maybe some of the listeners who think you know, I'm not really that interested in soccer, maybe have a passing interest. Why should we pursue this? With so much passion? Why is this so important for the greater community? Well, it really does go beyond whether or not one is passionate about soccer. Some people are passionate about basketball. Some people are passionate about art and culture. And here's what I believe is the city's mayor. We should fight form or Are more culture, more sports, more vitality, more clean green development because the more we can bring to our city in terms of Economic assets and cultural assets in sports assets. The more jobs we create the more vitality we create. Um, and the more for people to not only take pride in their city but to want to live here and it's all good. I mean, I do understand that there Is always a line to be drawn, right? You don't want to, and you can't over pay from the public sector perspective for something good and great, But this is a perfect example where investing in the infrastructure and the rail yards. On Lee. Creates more jobs. It only helps Further develop on Dunder developed asset in the city, and it brings major league soccer would bring Another great Asset to the city. Why don't we? Why wouldn't we want more of that? That's And then there are those who say, Well, you know. You should be focusing on the homeless problem or in the affordable housing problem. Well, you better believe I'm spending half my time on affordable housing and homelessness is but and homelessness but good and great cities. Don't make it in either or choice. We We go for it all and That's what we do,.

"By the way, and we're just reported revenues were down 2% that's still broken, too new here nearly highs. So that's number one. The songs. Number two With this rally up over the last four days. Well, let me put it best. We had an 1800 point drop in five days and we finished out this week. Are you ready for this on the down? And sometimes things are uncanny. Thiss week the Dow is up 1821 points. It finished. 12 points below the high From the start of the week before. Amazing, huh? But we shall tell you that the NASDAQ While the Dow was down over the last two weeks. The NASDAQ is up. Over the last two weeks. In fact, about 3% The S and P Over the last two weeks. While the Dow was down a little in the NASDAQ was up 3% the S and P was 34 65 up about 1.2%. And we could go through other things. No big deal. We don't have to this point. The socks, though. If I get this right About 6%. Maybe closer to seven. And new all time highs. What this rally this week is going to enable me to do this week is to isolate the weakness. What stocks didn't even budge this week and stayed down. What areas And it's gonna enable Mito throw them to the side. What stocks are already in new yearly highs. While the Dow is not a new yearly highs, not even kind of not even close. While the S and P. Is not a new yearly highs, but closer While the NASDAQ is not you nearly highs. That means whatever's in new yearly highs, is outperforming the indices. We want to know who they are. And then We're going to do another little two hour thing on all the earnings reactions. Today. Trade Desk up 1 74 on earnings, but 20% Roco up 11% on earnings square of about.

Hurricane Season Collides With Coronavirus, As Communities Plan For Dual Emergencies

"Hurricane Orlando. season starts today June first. You are allowed to take a moment after hearing that. I depend then waves of protests now. Hurricane season forecasters expect above average activity in part because climate change is making the Atlantic Ocean warmer. Amy Green of Wfan. Orlando has been asking. How do you plan for hurricanes during a pandemic Robin? Roku Bauer doesn't like to chance it when there's a hurricane. She almost always. Always evacuates roku bow our lives in Cocoa Beach Florida on a barrier island between the Atlantic Ocean and Indian River Lagoon. Her mother is ninety three. She's gotTa have flushing toilets. She's gotTa have fresh water. She's just got some physical needs that require that, but this year Roco Bauer is thinking hard about her hurricane plan. She sixty five like her mother considered at higher risk to the corona virus. Virus if I have to go any further, or if I have to go somewhere, then you're going to be exposed to more people in different environments, and you don't know where those people have been he in Florida, a record, six and a half. Million people evacuated for Hurricane Irma in two thousand seventeen this year. That will be a harder decision. Craig fugate used to head the federal emergency management. Management Agency and it's Florida counterpart. He fears some people won't evacuate because they'll fear exposing themselves to the virus that may result and more people saying behind in increasing the risk of loss of life, but there's another risk sheltering evacuees together in school, gymnasiums and other enclosed spaces as Florida. Governor Rhonda Santa's points out pile people into a place under normal circumstances. That may be fine, but that would. Allow the virus to really spread if somebody is in fact infected. That's why his administration is considering. Stay at home. Orders in were houses are newer and Sturdier or sheltering evacuees and hotels and motels. The economic collapse has left vacant. Most at risk are nursing home patients. Many low-lying facilities have evacuation agreements with facilities on higher ground, but kristen nap of the Florida healthcare. Association says this year. Nursing homes will have to reexamine these. These arrangements if you are a facility that event, an evacuation zone and you have positive cases in your building, you may not be able to go to the typical facility that you would evacuate to if they don't have positive cases in their building, Florida leaders also are socking away protective ear, four shelter and utility workers, and they're making sure stores have plenty of food and water, so people can stock up before a storm. Storm in central Florida before Irma hit utility crews converged from across the country to help restore electricity this year. Linda, Veroni of the Orlando Utilities Commission anticipates longer outages than usual. That's because cove in nineteen makes it harder to house and feed these workers while preventing the viruses spread, it will take longer to check them all in. It will take a little longer to get the mall to the point that they can be out. Out in the field working, robin broke our of Coco Beach considered not evacuating, but feels she would have to because of her mother already. "Are super jewel. And I'm so grateful that you share doable ways and I just had another moment. When you were talking about Basilica with their child and play with their child. I was thinking that even our parents didn't play in the same way. My mother said that to me one day she said because every night like I would read with. My son was now eight every night and even now now. He's reading like bigger chapter books but we always read together and my mother said to me. I never ride with you guys and I was thinking when you were talking about being silly I was thinking about. My daughter likes to put stickers on my face and I let her because it's fun you know she still areas. Yeah and again you know. I have compassion for the previous generations. They they didn't have the luxury to play with their children because of colonialism because of capitalism you know they their relationship was just work work work and and that was passed down. You know and so there wasn't time for joy and for plane and you had to have this very strict relationship you know like even I think you know Previous generations and letting culture like children had to say I you know the way. They spoke to their children by saying withstand instead of blue. Ray Mike which is a very formal way of speaking. You know communicating and again. All of that is a legacy of colonialism. And so we are breaking through like even just playing even just being silly and letting your child with stickers on yourself and not having this facade like I have to be the authority and the person in control like you. That is part of the decolonizing work. I have to say that I'm thirty seven.

"Say? What do you want for dinner? Yeah so I give them options. I give them usually two to three options. And that's for any any meal. I give them options and sometimes they don't want to even eat and I still struggle with that because then it's like okay. I have to keep you safe. I have to keep you fed and so I'm allowing. I'm I'm still learning when they don't want to eat. Let them not me and then coming back that later you know by no means. Am I like a quote unquote perfect parent and a perfect decolonizing parent? I still have the same struggles. I'm not a perfect gentle. You know parent and I think that's another thing that I wanted. To debunk is that there is no perfect parent. Even parents that are doing gentle parenting still had the same struggles. It's just about being aware and conscious and committed to doing that work and to you know when you mess up when you know you do yell at your children raise your voice. It's apologizing you know. An even that concept is new for some parents by apologizing to your children and telling them. I'm sorry I was impatient and yield and I shouldn't have done that and that is wrong and no one should yell at you and especially when you didn't do anything wrong. No-one should yell at you. And then focusing on reconnecting that is the work you know and then continuing being committed and reflecting why did I? Why did I do that with my child? You know I'm feeling pressure. Not Not because of what my child did but because of something at work in it's usually external pressure or I'm tired you know and so I need to take some time for myself and I need who need a village to to support me so that I can be there emotionally For my child so I want parents to listen. We listening to know that. It's not about being perfect. It's about you know reflecting and being conscious and doing that work of apologizing and reconnect team those moments to happen lesson less so this point. I usually shift gears and we just talked. I WanNa get to know you betters. It's kind of like lightning round. Go what are you reading now? It's women who glows in the dark which is about a good in these days. What's your favorite city? My favorite city is my hometown. Where a limb Santa I just hung in Springfield most comfortable. And is that where you grew up to? It is. Yeah it's hometown. And what's your favorite beverage spring water and cocoa coconut water Coconut Water Mesa last? Because I feel like it's one of those like gentrified things that co-cocaine seventy five thank you. It's like two ninety nine for What is your favorite like a date night activity you now work? Do you have time? I wish we had more. We don't do as many so now. It's really just hanging out and talking with my husband at home and making time for that in really you know giving ourselves to space to talk about our feeling and what's going on with you sometimes it's watching TV and just zony now together and talking about what we're watching and for us. It looks like more like date breakfast. 'cause that's when we can get help and really like going to our favorite the restaurant and and just being out in connecting in that way breakfast is a good time because you're fresh feel at the end of the night you don't WanNa talk. You just want to veg out in front of the TV. So I totally get that. Yeah and then are you. Binging like are you. What do you watch like what you're shows my binging on something so the things that I watch unless they're documentaries the things that I watch are just like trashy reality to be just like my guilty pleasure so one thing that we're watching right now is celebrity big brother? You need those moments of the first person that the last person I interviewed said trashy novels like murder mystery where the wife you know what I mean. She was like it's an escape. And what's your favorite way to practice? Self Care we just talked about not so so that is one and my favorite recently is just going outside and walking with my child and being out in the sun and connecting to the plants. That's my most favorite way And it's my favorite way because I was able to do it for like three years because I you know I wasn't healthy enough to be outside so that just it makes me feel alive now and so. That's my favorite way yet. Nature is something else that a lot of people who have been on the podcast talk about like running in nature like hiking and taking the time to kind of find the green spaces and be in nature a big okay. So let's talk about what parents can do gives less like one concrete action Princeton. Take to their tomorrow. That can improve the way we pack. So I feel like I've there's you know instead it a few times But the first thing would be to just slow down and so- slowing down literally and your day in the. I hear a lot of parents say like in the morning. I'm so rushed and I yell at my children. And their you know they get upset and the reason why they get upset because they feel that pressure and they feel that ings -iety from you and so really slowing down intentionally. You know even if you are still in terms of time on the same schedule and a half to get out of the house at a specific time if you allow yourself to slow down you know intentionally to to do the deep breathing to just be present during that a lot of time that you have your morning woke goes more smoothly because then you're not passing on that anxiety to your children so it's just like being present and just gain you know in in that space and not just you know rushing out the door and moving from one thing to the other. It's just allowing yourself to be so really slowing down in the day to day in the morning also when you come home and you know find small moments to connect with your children you know like for me. It's like about like being silly with my child and laughing. And they were telling me something and me laughing with them and finding joy in the things that they tell me and they share with me or playing with them in the way that they want to play you know those are moments that we can really connect with our children and we can build a deeper relationship and that extends in other ways to the parenting relationship. So I think those are very simple. Means that that that they can That parents can really do this work. And the the other the last one that I would say is just practicing grace and forgiveness. Not Judging yourself because I think sometimes we're too hard on ourselves. We think about all the ways that we've messed up you know and maybe even in listening to this message that I've shared with you all today. You're feeling guilty and you're feeling like I messed up and there's all these things that I'm doing wrong and I really want you to practice grace and forgiveness and compassion and know that it is not your fault for learning these things visit. This stems from ancestral trauma is stemmed from colonialism. And so you know just practicing that forgiveness and starting slow in these ways than I just identified and knowing that it it's GonNa be a journey and letting it unfold and giving yourself space and also taking care of yourself. You know doing the things that that you find joy in in slowing down your own schedule maybe taking a shower or even allowing yourself to have breakfast slowly and let your child watch. Tv that video for a little bit like it's not going to hurt them in as long as they watch quality videos you know. The research actually doesn't say that videos in itself are bad or springtime is bad. It's just what they watch and so let them you know. Let them watch something education and have a slower have a longer shower. How longer breakfast? Serra meal and and those are moments or you can catch your breath and then be there emotionally for your child and do the play and do the joy and do the laughing and the dancing you know. I think these are all very doable ways. They.

"That stems from colonialism. And the generations before. They don't know that they don't have that. Consciousness and we learned those things from the colonizer. Why do white people do timeouts and give choices to their children and let them run around right? Why does parenting look so different for them? Because they were not colonized peoples. We learned this way of parenting from the colonizer and then we did it to our own children as a way to protect them from the colonizer so that they wouldn't have to experience violence from the colonizer but then again that's that colonial mentality that ancestoral trauma has been passed down and our generations now are are waking up to that right that there is a different way that we can relate to our children. There is a way that that we related to our children before colonization where we can honor them as a full person and giving them a choices break. That's a part of it. But even just the choices themselves and they can determine that but yes there will be some people that will get pushed back and I think from from their parents or their in laws and I think really educating them. That this stems from colonization. I think such a big piece that needs to be shared with them. I see the work that we can do as individuals but in your perfect world we. We just not have schools. We would have different types of schools because they're also different types of schools where like Montessori or like different type of schedules or you know in nature. They're different types of CO OPS like. They're different types of schools settings so because I can't see us going back to or or becoming a society where like time doesn't matter.

"So if you're familiar with the apple TV box, that's considered an OTT which is over the top over the top of your television. I p t is similar to net flix net. Flicks is an internet protocol television channel. So you get it through the internet is Hulu like I is IP TV as well. Now Roku is I p TV as well, but Roco Roque who was also OTT because they have the boxes and they have televisions. Okay. And their IP TV channels or smart apps, you can call them as channels are apps in the television in the smart TV's. But Roku decided to create their own TV's a private brand televisions and their own private branded OTT boxes. So if you don't have a wrote Roku TV you can use one of the OTT. Boxes to plug into your current television to actually get the IP TV platform which has thousands of channels, but the beauty of these channels, it's this, this technology has leveled the playing field. Any person anyone can have a channel on the IP TV platforms that is amazing long. Anytime anyone can have it as long as you have one, someone who can use the software development kit to actually develop your channel. So it's clearly there. There are zero walls in between an individual in that platform. That amazed me because when we first had this conversation, I was in a state of shock because I'm from DC land and its regulatory land in, you know, you can't have channels without getting licenses and all that other stuff. So when you said that to me such a light bulb because I, I just assumed that you would have to go through all of this. Kind of paperwork in order to do that, but you're telling me that's not the case..
