"What took place there I personally view it as a riot and I can div all right I can then what we saw in January 6th and going into the capital and things like that go out into these small towns and actually see if anybody is talking about January 6th anymore because they're not They're not discussing it Williams is convinced Trump will run for president again Others in the community wait anxiously for word on his intentions At Rocky Mountain United methodist the political divide is evident in the pews If you have any hope of healing you got to talk about what's hurting So how do you bridge the divide between those two groups of people who sit in your pews I tend to believe that honesty is the best policy ripping off the band aids the best way to move forward So we talk about it We're not afraid here A willingness to keep talking to each other That's one rare area of common ground we found in the divided town We bring in up all these hurtful topics and subjects not the rubber in your face or to bring up the past but we have to bring up the past to learn from it and to move on and to heal At the end of the day we all may disagree but you still have to be able to stick your hand out and face it as a champ As both sides of the debate and Rocky Mount say its faith that will see the town through To grow some flowers you got to disturb the dirt So this has been a disturbing year just like 2020 was but I believe in growth and it comes through sometimes seeing things messed up for a little bit I'm Devin dwyer ABC News Rocky Mount Virginia Aaron This January 6th anniversary has brought out the best of America with moments of silence in memory of the dead and commitments to uphold democracy in the rule of law It is also brought out the worst with law enforcement warning of the violence and resentment still simmering in the country That violence unleashed on January 6th had in fact been simmering for many years Those who carried it out primed to believe the country is collapsing and armed conflict may be the only way to save it More about that next when this ABC News special continues For the latest world and local news on demand listen to the como news update podcast.

"Of the majestic Rocky Mount this is about empowering people and organizations that want to optimize their assets minimize taxes and empower their authentic well folks I've been a financial strategist and retirement planning specialist for north of forty five years and I have noticed there is a huge difference be tween for retirement planning and act retirement planning what you may be dead to save and prepare for your retirement which most people do by simply following the herd putting money into that company's four oh one K. or put it into tax deferred I raise a four oh one K. that's where ninety one percent of Americans put their money for the future retirement they envision and then they hit retirement and they sort of have this idea shocker I call it the deduction reduction they're not in a lower tax bracket and they were always told differ defier you'll be in a lower bracket when you retire and that has not been true or axiomatic for more than twenty five years now but still I think ninety one percent of Americans are almost duped into putting their money into tax deferred I reserve for one case that's for retirement planning what you do at retirement and I would recommend at least five years before but if that's already water under the bridge for you it's already passed it's never too late you need to take action because at retirement planning is totally different planning than what you did for retirement planning there's one big reason if you have your money in the market there's usually not a single advisor asset manager out there that day I can show you a predictable income stream based upon a portfolio invested in the market because they can't do that they can't predict what the market's going to do and that this is why dowel bar who studies investor behaviors as the average stock market mutual fund investor actually only earns or returns about three point four nine percent during their retirement years and if they simply bought and held in their investments they might earn a little over nine percent but they're only netting six percent after taxes most people pay out at least a third of their Iran for one K. withdrawals and tax and so if you're a nine year old a netting six if you had a million Bucks earning nine percent that B. ninety grand that's not all your money you you cannot buy gas groceries prescriptions in golf green fees with ninety thousand you have to buy those items for your living with after tax irate for one K. withdrawals that would only be about sixty thousand of the ninety thousand is your money and so because of that and because of market volatility there have been articles through the years that don't get very much attention because it's against the mainstream such as years ago I I wrote an article called how Congress is peddling Iran for one case today Carl and how they were trying to use your IRA or four oh one K. as the best savings bond they ever came up with for themselves because they get to partner with you you'll grow the account and they get a third of what ever it grows to down the road I mean hello and then after two thousand eight time magazine have it had a cover story that said why it's time to retire the four oh one K. and do something better instead in fact the opening paragraph said that the ugly truth is the four oh one K. as a lousy idea of financial flop a rotten repository for our retirement reserves now I had never used that strong of language in my various articles but folks why is that is because people have their money in these tax deferred IRA's and four oh one K. as in the market and they saw their hard earned savings money that they socked away dwindling value by forty percent twice in the decade from two thousand to two thousand ten I want you to know that people following the strategies we teach in our educational webinars had tripled their money from two thousand to two thousand twelve when most Americans barely we're back to break even this is critical information you need to know but also there was an article in the Wall Street journal a couple years ago with the first week of January I believe it was that said that that the original champions of the four oh one K. love meant the day they ever came up with that idea because it was never intended to be the main retirement account for Americans but when people began to choose for a one K. isn't companies didn't want to provide defined benefit pensions anymore they wanted the rate of return and the responsibility to be upon the worker give them the choice this was the most popular defined contribution plan where you don't get a guaranteed benefit you define how much you want to sock away and whatever grows too is up to.

R. docket Dr Susan Ryan has a very unique approach to relieving stress at work Dr Ryan all right I want to thank you first of all for being on our first line of defense you are an ER doc is that right correct what are you seeing first of all in general a what are you seeing are you seeing people more nervous thinking they have a problem or actual what are you actually seeing at work probably ten days ago we are seeing more people that were just nervous and had very mild upper respiratory symptoms but over the past four or five days we've seen a big rise in very sick people young and old that are short on oxygen and needing supplemental oxygen and have horrible chest X. rays and are getting admitted to the hospital and obviously with Kobe that correct but also mention it takes us awhile to still get the test results we can only the people that are being admitted to the hospital okay so we saw something in social media with you sitting down with the pooch a little dog this is this your dog well I'm raising her for canine companions for independence which is a non profit that breeds their own Labradors and golden retrievers and then have them with a volunteer puppy raiser all over the country for the next eighteen months and then we turn them in to one of the six centers around the country and there they get professional training for six months and get matched with someone free of charge with all disabilities but blind we have veterans with PTSD hearing dogs special needs children adult in wheelchairs and facility dogs in police departments courthouses hospitals physical therapy and school so you're a foster mom and basically a foster mom and and it you took her in this yellow lab you took her to work yeah I read one other for canine companions she's been turned in and then I've been reading this one for she's been coming to work and she's twelve weeks old and she's a very used to the chaotic environment here other volunteer puppy raisers are maybe they're retired or they have other jobs in an office so it's a very different environment but our job is to socialize them and give them about twenty basic commands which they build upon to give them up alternately forty to fifty command third task oriented service dog and so what is this dog doing in particular that that with this post said basically relieving tension or stress what what does it tell me what she's doing you know there's a lot of animal human bond finance to this there's a lot of decompression of our nervous system when we're petting a dog being present that helps to stimulate the parasympathetic which calmed the breeding can do that certain yoga poses can do it but there's no doubt that petting a dog does the same thing so you know we're all familiar with therapy dog in hospitals but again these are service dogs assistance dogs are task driven and since we have been in the ER everyone familiar with knows her loves her and they're used to putting her in taking little breaks but now our social worker has created a little dedicated a room with a blanket over her dog bit someone can come in get a warm blanket on them a little bit of aromatherapy a guided meditation for a minute and Petr and she seems to know when people are a little more interesting she climbs up even higher onto their lap and Jeff's model them well that is wonderful gross medical P. R. and and Dr thank you but I want to ask one quick question the people that you're seeing in general that are are showing symptoms and obviously sick are they being the did they say they were self isolated and did not realize or quarantine or were they out about it we are any of them saying they are expressing surprise I haven't seen anyone that surprised a lot of people have had some traveling so if you think about it there's going to be a delay if someone was flying ten days ago they're gonna have symptoms start to develop and and then it takes a several days where they start to develop the shortness of breath if they're going to get sicker so I think what we're seeing currently in numbers is the initial wave of people that were out there about three weeks ago and how do we quarantine we're going to see those numbers the prep and I actually think Colorado is doing a great job of suppressing those numbers but again all the numbers you see like the statistics on who's dying and what those numbers are they will come in waves because they reflect about a two week hospital stay where they're quite ill intubated fighting for their life doctor Susan Ryan thank you for what you do and thank you for a shining some light on the value of pets and the stress relieving they can do I. Tom Martino we have more coming up you're.

"Author your host name this is the if you are an incredible national audience three dimensional nestled at the base of the majestic Rocky Mount this show is about empowering people and organizations that want to optimize their assets minimize taxes and empower their authentic well well folks you may be aware if you listen to this show before that I have a YouTube channel and I release and the answer to a question every single morning and that these are questions that are asked guy anywhere from thirty to three hundred times a month for the last several months and so I pick and choose those and I want to address some of them that many many people in America as I have traveled speaking and teaching have asked regarding money that they realized is trapped in their IRA or four oh one K. accounts now when I say trapped see many people began to participate in that maybe the company's four oh one K. or socking away money into AI are raised and they were sort of following the herd and most people I talk to say well that's what everybody does and so my parents said take advantage of the four oh one K. at your employer or the best thing I ever did son or daughter was set up in Iraq and the premise is that you're going to be in a lower tax bracket when you retire so it's better to get a tax break on the seed money the contribution phase is what I call it but I used the metaphor of scenes verses harvest because if you were a farmer and you had the choice of buying your scene in the spring time let's say the spring time of life is the metaphor here and that you don't have to pay tax on what you paid for the seat and you plant that you irrigated do you cultivate it you work hard and then in the fall of life you go to harvest and now you agree to pay tax on what you sell your harvest for so this is on the and the backend of an IRA or four oh one K. account during the retirement years the distribution phase and all too often people get shocked because they accumulated any type of a respectable retirement nest egg they go wow I'm not in a lower tax bracket in fact the only people that are in lower tax brackets are those people who didn't say very much I don't want to be a low bracket because I didn't say very much and why does that happen well it's because so many times we are going down the highway with one foot on the gas pedal of putting money into tax deferred accounts but the other voters on the brake pedal and that that's killing the deductions so to speak and that does give you the advantages during your working years and so when you retire you've paid off your house so you don't have that big deduction the kids are gone or if they have moved back home you can't deduct them anymore that deductions don and you you are not contributing money in retirement to IRA's and four oh one K.'s that deduction is gone if you're a business owner you no longer have those deductions so people find themselves in as high or higher tax brackets as they were ever in during their earning years even if they have less income I've seen school teachers who retired in on the defined benefit pension they taught school let's say for thirty years and many states will pay up to percent for every year of service two percent times thirty years is sixty percent sixty percent of what sixty percent of the average paycheck that you got maybe the last five years you were teaching school and so a lot of people say I can't survive on sixty percent I got to make up the difference and so they are doing something that they feel is responsible they sock away money in the state's four oh one K. or they put money into four oh three bees were talking about school teachers here or may be a tax sheltered annuities where you're putting in pre tax money it's accumulating tax deferred but then you go to pull it out and that you end up paying taxes do you know the average person in America I did a survey of school teachers years ago most school teachers pay back every dime they saved in taxes over thirty thirty five years on the contribution phase on the scene my name during the first two and a half to three years of the harvest and does all the pay back every dime they saved in taxes over thirty or thirty five years the first two and a half three years after they retire if they live fifteen twenty twenty five years they end up paying back to the government many times at eight ten twelve fifteen times in taxes what they saved in taxes on the seed money that just is not the way to go because you're going down the highway with one foot on the brake pedal and the other foot on the gas pedal as you accumulate the money but in retirement many people continue to do that so many times I have to cure that dis ease when you're not at ease financially because you feel like you're going to out live your money you're not at ease let's call disease many people think disease is only a physical disease when our body at a cellular level and ourselves are not at ease and so we call that dis ease whether it's cancer or whatever well a lot of people have a disease of tax disc he is and that what's eroding led away the cancer and that's in their accounts is Uncle Sam now is waiting for his share and that the government has a permanent tax lien on your I raise a four oh one K.'s when people realize this and they get the worst advice off times they're told by their accountant or their financial adviser well if you don't need the money take out R. M. D.'s required minimum distributions starting at age seventy and a half now they've increased that to a year to have up to a seventy two but you have to take out what every year life expectancy is based upon that formula that the government does give us a vote for example let's say that you have a life expectancy of twenty years so you have to take out one twentieth of what's in your I raise a four oh one K.'s or you'll have to pay a fifty percent penalty and so the government wants there are a a portion of that as you retire and if you don't do it the penalty is fifty percent in fact in some of my first books I've been blessed to be able to write eleven books and I want to do a book a year and the rest of my life but I used to depict this with different kinds of cartoons one was this a retirement apple and it showed it just this apple corps after Uncle Sam took his bites out of there and in forty one out of fifty states have state income taxes during retirement another cartoon I did it was this person that is retired and they're looking at their retirement pizza or pie and that's it the pizza has as six wages in there and Uncle Sam the government comes in and takes two of the wedges seen only two thirds of that is your money if you accumulated a million dollars and I reserve for when Kay's only about US six hundred and fifty thousand maybe seven hundred thousand of that is your money the rest of it belongs Uncle Sam they have a permanent tax lien and so if you do a further and to further and take out required minimum distributions that's what they want you to do a government revenue worse because they'll continue to get one third they'll have a permanent tax lien on what your IRA or four oh one K. will ever accumulate one of the pieces of software that illustrates something that I've I've never seen any other financial advising team be able to do this but it shows people the darkness of the night if they continue to defy her and take out R. M. D. is and how much tax they will pay even if they don't go into a higher tax bracket and people are flabbergasted at age sixty sixty five to see that they continued to defer to age seventy and a half for now eight seventy two and then take out R. M. dis to their and their spouse's life expectancy and then transferred down to their errors and no errors have to get it all out intact within ten years after they inherit it you'll end up paying back usually double or triple the amount of money in taxes that you even accumulated by age sixty people are like sharks because they don't understand how the government just keeps getting one third of all the money that you're earning C. white with Uncle Sam wants you to totally destroy a relationship like that but they want to start getting their piece of what they've been anticipating that tax revenue do you know what the government actually plans their budget based upon the amount of money that's going to come out of a yet to be taxed I reserve for one case when people are taking out their required minimum distributions so the solution is is to strategically reposition your retirement funds subject invented tax and that's taken care of taxes now rather than postponing and increasing the inevitable liability then reposition that after tax money into vehicles that will be totally tax free but you need to empower yourself so if you live in the greater San Francisco Bay Area I am coming there with the team of instructors and experts I would love to meet you I want to teach you we're coming to Alamo Livermore Santa Clara Palo alto Walnut Creek and Dublin these are free events there half day they're called retire by design we give you a forty page workbook when you come and also give you our two most recent bestselling books entitlement abolition and the laser fund over five hundred pages of curriculum we are coming.

"And see you set to face off on the football field for the Rocky Mount showdown now that the buffs have a C. U. branded beer we can match them up in a blind taste test against the issue earlier this morning we brought in a group to sample Avery see you beer called stampede Colorado gold locker and new Belgium's CS you bear old Aggie superior locker and as we were tasting then we heard from the brewers themselves here's how that taste test went you want to sample a we've got Chad our news writer is here David our business guys here Julie brown men Conor Shreve who is way to educate about your connoisseur here gate yeah and then us so we got a bunch of people here taste testers when people drink of the Rocky Mount set out there they're gonna find a really new drinking body lager something that's really easy for them to enjoy I am pretty good as well as thank I think the great was like an egg McMuffin sure I kinda like it Conor so little multi for a lager malt base in here so do you would not have guessed that was a logger I would call it a lawyer but it just has a it's a a full body lager I would call it good for football season hundred street Sonya all right we ready to take a taste of be let's do that it was kind of a Roman this little multi on the nose but then it's super crisp and clean when you drink and that's certainly what we were going for yet at the end of that you get again again a little bit of a change kind of multi sweet that's okay so those are both the birds we don't know what beer they were talking about yeah I mean what the name of the beer was so does anybody have a preference about raise your hand if you like to eat better I did K. three of us like to a better that means you three like to be better oh my god it's a time now because to see which is where we have to drink it again just to break the tie Conor since you're the the beer expert what did you why why did you pick B. you know I didn't think I'd be able to taste the difference between the two it's so hard because they're loggers the same style from two really good brewers yes be beat the sweetness the brewer was talking about comes through it's almost like a bratty kind of pastry type flavor I'm gonna go out on a limb and I think the is the stampede because I've I've had enough old ideales I think it's a really am I wrong I don't know I just wish that I preferred a and you prefer I like a little bit just a little bit more but to to Connor's point if there wasn't I couldn't distinguish too much of a difference in my palettes not is what's whole areas is you don't know which is which I don't came in high going I should be involved I drink enough full that you that you know I think you get a sense of the smell and taste but at this point I don't I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say be as old Aggie using all these ID yeah that's how later you like this so you put in the wrong beer and if you live in ten years Conor see you guy picking the right okay do Sir knows who these were what was a a was new Belgium old Aggie thank you very little damn he was very yeah all right what it's funny that we chose or half and half they're both really good beers thank god my street cred with the rams I'm just glad yeah I never would have been able to live it down if I like the old I got is there yeah thanks guys I did like the old Aggie there was like a like a man's very lucky they were both very similar they're both lawyers the very drinkable football beer just in my opinion I said this a little better taste in the in the old I give the stampede wasn't them to update our poll by the way we did two more we had two more people to the blind taste test and they agreed with us that was old Aggie so it's kind of a landslide I got to say yeah what's which one did you like although I did yeah I did that that is the taste as last I chose all that you did good very good I tweeted that new Belgium and said Hey you guys make haste free beer now from nine fifty five.

Wisconsin reports first death from Rocky Mountain spotted fever
"A l i so i wanna talk about this was often has reported their first rocky mountain spotted fever death and i saw one piece of rocky mount spot fever and they really hit us hard with this and medical school because people can die from it but it's not very common but right now health officials in wisconsin are urging residents to take precautions because the state has now reported its first ever depth to this and it's caused by tics and we are in tick season officials have not named the victim but described her as a woman in her late fifties and she was bit by tick while camping in early may this is a tick borne illness or we're going to tell you about usually transmitted by dog ticks as opposed to lyme disease is transmitted by deer ticks and guess rocky mountain spot a fever well we usually see these takes in open areas like abandoned field or prairies and it usually affects central and southeast regions of the us so rocky mountain and maybe near the rocky mountains most tick borne diseases and wisconsin however are transmitted by black league ticks also called deer ticks and deer tics live in wooded areas so symptoms of rocky mountain spotted fever include fever rash nausea headache stomach pain and again it could lead to death so use insect repellent stay on trails of would walk it through vegetation wear long sleeves long pants take a shower immediately after time outdoors you know my son was just in new york what's my husband his mom had died and they were they're dead their dad maybe you know selling the house so he went out there to see if there was any memories you know last memories of the house you know that he wanted to have any brought my son and i guess my fatherinlaw lives in a nice of wooded area in upstate new york poughkeepsie and it's really beautiful trees etc and so my younger son said that he was running around and there was a fox so he starts chasing a little fox in the woods and i'm like is that supposed to be a good thing or a bad thing in my husband's looking at me like what is wrong with you you know when we grew up as kids we used to do that i grew up in l a and in phoenix so we didn't really have animals we chase after rattlesnakes crickets and scorpions i mean a fox oh my gosh so i get how my son was excited about the fox but my son ends up stopping because he runs out of breath but here's other breathing next to him and he freaks out because he thinks it was a bear and so he runs back now i don't know what kind of bear run around upstate new york but it didn't sound like a fox's breath it sounded like something bigger and taller than him so he fled and good and i doubt i don't eat i know the alaskan black bears could be pretty dangerous and none of those brown bears on what kind of a bear this was maybe we'll just winnie the pooh who knows so i guess it comes back inside and everybody high fives him or whatever and so i you know i'm at home i hear about all this and i'm like what did you kick them for tex yeah yeah yeah we check them for takes and my husband kind of looks at me when he gets back like i am the biggest weenie and i'm raising a kid to be a weenie let the caveat get into the woods olivia man let let me bernie there's ticks and there's bears and there's fox rabies and there's plague and there's cave disease cave disease yeah there's caves disease tie getting disease and their brock's age so yeah i'm worried about keynes's so my husband and i fight and he's actually in the right don't tell them i don't i don't know i'm gonna prove him wrong even if i'm wrong but i mean he's in the right i mean these kids need to know nature they need to get out there that needs to play the need to whatever i mean they need to learn how to you know build a fire and you know say goodbye to a bear and flake a scorpion off of them they need to learn how to do these things and.
