Sylvester Stallone on writing "Rocky"
"Rush. Talked with sylvester stallone about the movie. Rocky balboa and teaches us life lessons here welcome to the program sylvester stallone rocky balboa. I want to be honest with you. I didn't know what was left to tell the story. I've loved all these other rocky movies. But there's been a long hiatus now. I was stunned. You cover every demographic in this. I mean looking at it from a from a production and marketing point. It looks like the first rocky movie cinema. Graphically you haven't gussied it up with a bunch of computer generated fireworks it. You've got life messages in this movie for everybody. Pg what had happened is a good friend of mine says faludi. Who wrote that book stiffed. Which a couple years ago is about the diminishing and kind of like deluding of the american male in the workforce and after you know this planned obsolescence almost for world war two and every generation. It seems to get harder and harder for a man to express himself and we seem to be slowly being moved on this conveyor belt out before we're ready to be moved out and it was kind of a wanted rocky showed that he still has he says has some stuff in the basement. He has a flame in his heart and i think a lot of the american male feels that way but society goes nassau. You've had your you know you're up at bat and it's time to move on and go. Well maybe you should move on when you're ready to move on if you wouldn't take the humiliation of sticking your head above the crowd maybe it's you know it's pleasure will be worth the pain.

"And Ted. Rocky is a character and specifically the film rocky to and. I was so excited for Rocky Balboa that I did not read anything if the trailers started in the theater I ran out of the theater I did nothing. And I went totally blind and have you seen the film? A longtime ago. But yeah, like everyone else of your at the beginning of the movie Adrian is dead. And it was so traumatic for me. It was a bad year in my life and that was the Christmas movie I was an Adrian being dead. Ripped my throat out I. Literally Left Theater and punched a hole in the theater wall. and. They forgave me. But about a week later, I went back because I had to sit through it. I was traumatized by the fact that Adrian was gone and. Little Marie the character from the first one comes back and she's older. Now she's obviously like attracted to rocky in like I'm clutching the seats to. And do it like to go there you can't replace Adrian UPC ship movie and. I went in like everybody else being like a sixty year old man's GonNa fight a young Guy Bullshit Oh my God we'll Blah But man by the end of Rocky Balboa I was I was I was win. Win You can do it. I fully. Made me believe. That it could happen and why because rocky? Stay true to the character. Never, once today stray from rocky none of the new world influence none of the new ways movies to change your society change affected who rocky was, and that spirit cannot be broken. Right you can. That movie is Great I had. I enjoyed it so much and he came out huge hit huge hit. You'd for what it was like one hundred, million dollars. You know what I mean at a time when that was a lot of money. Oh, six that was still pretty damn impressive for a drama in I mean and. Just a phenomenal film. Cut To. Just shy ten years.
Milo Ventimiglia talks his new film 'The Art of Racing in the Rain'
"This. This is popcorn where we tell you what's happening at the movies and there's a movie out right now that it's gonna make you can make you cry. It's going to make you laugh and it's called the art of racing in the rain. I mean it starts my guest milo ventimiglia welcome to the show happy to be here. Thank you and what you've done. Montmelo is broken. All the rules that actors are always told never to you. Don't work with animals with kids here you are and there i am happily and you just said i don't care what you say. You know. This is what made you are. You just yourself a major dog on <hes>. I mean for me. This wasn't a role that i was afraid of. It felt like something that i slash we as an audience needed. It's a human story. It's a story about a good father story about a good husband sure about a lovely family that is teaching their dog enzo the life lessons in needs to imprint it so that when he becomes a human in his next life. He'll be ready to be a good person he does want to be. He doesn't want so badly so badly what he wants wants curses himself for being dog and moments when his instinct is giving him insight to what this family is going through but he can't speak it. He can't say he just sit back and let things happen. So you have a dog yourself. No no no even like them. Love dogs okay. You said that i think we'd have to end the bucket out. The door wouldn't even give you the pop. That's maybe one of my way. Also this dog ends named after into dr a sound suspiciously like kevin costner very much so i won't even say might be kevin costner. He was here a couple weeks ago. I'm still hearing would what a what a lovely lovely coast or that. I never got to work with so you're not hearing on the set while you're doing this. What we're hearing in the audience know much like you. You know one is hearing with the dogs actually thinking there's no talking dogs in this. It's it's all the inner monologue of this dog as he's talking to himself telling the story story to himself of this family of this man but yeah no. I didn't hear anything i kind of our script supervisor and our our director simon curtis they would talk amongst themselves they would she would read <hes> enso's dialogue and simon. I'm kind of pause me and okay now. Hold on please and then i'll just be interacting with the dog you know and then he'd say okay and action and then i resume my lines or dialogue log on to where we needed to anything so i wasn't actually here in any kind of voice. Your thoughts are what what are the perils and the joys of working with a dog as the scene partner. You have to basic. I mean one. They're gonna steal the scene from me because i mean they're hand sorry. They're beautiful. They're there there you know you've been called all those things but still yeah they do with their with their with their tongues out in the tail's wagging you haven't tried that one yet avenue but because their animals you know you have to respect that their animals and take time and be patient with what they need to learn what they need to do. Repetitive over and over and over again not distract them feel like people can be distracted but yet we can handle a lot on our plate at any given time animals it was task at hand walked them there to their pick up some popcorn or lay down whatever it is is hold the remote and its mouth so it was a discipline of patients to just make sure that myself trainers were communicating and that i was given the dogs but they needed an intern. Instinctually they gave me what i needed which was a scene partner and that that was what was so special about our two dogs about parker and butler was what they were doing. Instinctually who they were was remarkable but i would also i would talk to the dogs like people like just you know not really full voiced that uncertain moments i'd have to crouch down and whispering to parker's ear hotel what was would say hey. We're gonna do this scene. I'm going to be a little stress but i love you. Kid don't worry we're fine. Don't tell me don't let yourself yourself. Get agitated. Just just stick with me at the end of it. I got a nice chicken. Treat for you yeah well. What made you not a dog owner sanjay. I want to do this movie. It was beautiful human story. You know what i saw. Again was a good man. <hes> living a life that was in many points of it difficult challenges obstacles real life stuff that was just constantly constantly hanging on him and i saw his heart and his determination to get through all that and do it for those that he loved. I loved. I loved the message behind that caring for the people that you really love and that fills you up well who can argue with that it also who oh can't relate to that. That's the thing that i also loved about. This felt like an extension of my t._v. Show this is us felt like something that everybody can draw raw from. Everybody can connect danny. Everybody can connect to eve everyone can connect to to <hes> enso's point of view. It just felt very relative. Tive who had you played that we can connected to who was the rat bastard in your career played a couple aw played one <hes> in a movie called wildcard. Jason statham the son of a mob boss who got away with the worst behavior. <hes> <hes> played <hes> the villain at the end of the second season of gotham t._v. Show he was a <hes>. He was a killer <hes> and play some pretty dark guys. Is that enjoyable to you too. I think everyone that i play short of that. That movie wildcard enjoyed that guy. I just really didn't like i didn't like putting on the character just didn't like any of it but for me it's they're all different sizes of humanity and i always feel like there's something to learn and and something to display people whether you're inspired to be good or showcasing that we really can't be this inhumane well sometimes by showing showing that in humanity you're you're also revealing something about sure us in the audience about what we don't wanna be exactly which is a good thing to it's one of the great things about being an actor does is that you can have that yeah and speaking about good at what you do. Congratulations third emmy nominations to the <hes>. This is us and season four coming in yeah. I'm already two episodes in just tell us what happened in the first to the next sixteen all of them yeah oh man should know so. Can you actually tell us how thing no i mean. I could say it's going to be great. I know really right in line with everything that this is us has done from seasons one to two to three the formula hasn't changed <hes> <hes> the pearson family feels like we're getting even deeper and deeper and deeper into who this family is who these people are as individuals in it you you know <hes> it's really just it's a joy to work on. I've had i've had a really amazing couple years going from that. Show this film and yeah. I'm <hes> i'm really lucky. It's fascinating to me because i remember also seeing you in rocky balboa woah yeah we're still alone is your father and that he has those speeches where he's basically you. You know talking about fatherhood what it is doing but then win season to this is oh yes like came. Flight comes on doing a scene with kevin yeah in a movie that he's doing talking about you. Who's gon who's his sons but also his his is his <hes>. He was his <hes> his hero. Yeah i mean i what i have had the first conversation with sly about joining the show and i pretty much told must i explained his part of it. You know inspiring a younger actor and his how he was my character. Jack's biggest onscreen hero and i basically told him i said all of that couldn't be closer to the truth as a younger actor i note it was like to be on set with you and dan to to just watch listen and learn what he was up to and what he was able to accomplish and i applied that to my everyday working process as an actor but then also from the character's point of view like he was my onscreen here on mike well yes lie was my onscreen hero to you know so. I don't know maybe a lot of flattery got him but also i mean you know his involvement with our writers and writing collect like coming together to share his his voice and what he wanted to tell of being playing himself. I don't know that he's ever played himself in the show but it was yeah you got a good day. You had a good time. He told me he goes a really good day so really good data good data. Yeah well the the two of you have. There's some similarities. People people think that i'm actually his son. Yeah yeah sure just go yet to do it well. You always say that you have this crooked matt do so where does that come from. Just i was born that way. I don't know where it comes from or what what got broken on the way way out but <hes> but it's definitely crooked i used to i used to talk out of the side of my face like this audience and i really didn't realize it until i was thinking might have been a teenager and i saw a local news channel interview or something and i was really struck by how crooked my mouth was when i spoke and so i remember sitting down in front of a mirror and reading reading and trying to catch what words made my mouth very very crooked and in doing that i figured out how i could kind of level it out a a little bit and it gave me kind of lazy speech pattern so now people don't quite know where <hes> from because of my lazy speech pattern because i'm trying to correct my crooked mouth but i don't know it works it is it's all kind of working. I think so i mean but did did it. Intimidate you when you were starting out doing. I said you have like moments. Have how am i gonna do this audition. <hes> where people cruel as people in hollywood can be yeah i had a i was in a castle one time how to cash or say hey could you. You just stopped doing that thing. You're doing with your mouth because you're doing a thing with your mouth and i go. You know what i was born that way and i just stared at all. I'm sorry i'm like no you're not and then i did the thing and i didn't get the part but it was like that was me that was me. I feared playing a vampire because you know vampires when they play vampires like they open their mouth. The big thing was going to go to the side and i thought seles or if i was like you know now. I've some wearing a masters. There's like there's a dead giveaway.

And I just want you let you know that everything going to present to you is going to have a bunch of exclamation points. Okay. The the Bleacher tweet that I got was from Rena Rena Benin banana, and she asked give us your overreactions from the events of opening day. And I thought yes, absolutely. I'm gonna present overreaction thoughts to you. Boop. You can embrace them. You can dismiss them. You can laugh them off. Whatever you wanna do. Okay. You ready to go with overreactions after the opening day? So we could title this overreactions of the day or boo gets a wonderful opportunity to yell at BUSTER for about six three minutes. I didn't say that you did. I didn't say that. Okay. You ready? Here's overreaction number one. And again, everything say you have to imagine exclamation points. At the end of it. Okay. Bryce Harper is generations. Rocky Balboa is Philadelphia. You saw him in Philly. Yesterday's got the Philly fanatic painted onto shoes. Runs out to right field gives the big huge standing ovation. Even has a few smattering of boos when he makes out which is part of the indoctrination period. He's all in Philadelphia. So far he is Philadelphia. I mean, a little strong. I I didn't I didn't end -ticipant that. But I look performances giving is gonna dictate that. But I I do think that there's a chance that he could end up being someone that duck city really loves I don't know that that's the narrative that people have considered it in a strong way. So I'm I'm at least open to the idea house that someone who was born in Philadelphia. And my first words were boo. So there you go. Well, I would say this. I think that and we saw this spring training, and it is the honeymoon period. And I think I mean, let's face it. The real test is going to come as with any marriage. The first time where there's some turmoil when there's some difficulty and that might not be too you'll year three or year five. But at some point it'll happen where he goes through an extended hitless streak, and then we see how he handles it. We'll see how the fans handle it. But I say this just being in spring training around him. He's doing absolutely everything in can using his imagination to connect with the fans. Yes. Yeah..

"Dollars in here. Mike, thank you. Gear mo- what's going on? With our rocky recreation. Video Aguirre Moen I about a month ago. We had lost in the suicide pool that we do in football. And we had to recreate the erotica scene from rocky three on. Yeah. Yeah. You remember do not remember the slow motion scene on the beach where they were sprinting against each other. And then they frolicked in the water in a way that was festive and erotic is certainly remember the scene. I do not remember any sort of hints of the rata system there. It was just two men trenching themselves to the limits of their physical capabilities and then celebrating our ability. Well, put it on the poll was the slow motion scene between rocky Balboa and Apollo creed. And rocky three erotic. Well, if it wasn't recreation. Definitely is okay. So where are we with the recreation of this because you? And I we lost and the suicide pool, and we had to run on the beach, and we had to recreate that scene. Where is that? If we released that yet that will be released today and tomorrow, it will be on national television coming in and out of breaks. So that's fun to see it. Would you call the volleyball scene in topgun also Roddick? I would say in top gun when vowed comer bites at Tom Cruise that's a bit Iran, and oh, that's just it's the Machiko of milk kind of to start your own filled kind of competition when you watch him. I may don't a lot of people say that it's a Roddick know what people you watching him. I may with solely opposite. You guys haven't heard that MMA. You you have not heard that that is not something that people have heard bodies founding against each other. No, no. It's a fight. Then I see the marriage of all the different fighting styles through boxing and martial arts to jitsu, etc. Disagree that the fat of the land wasn't electrical wire that hit the music scene in one thousand nine hundred seven I don't remember that name what isn't erotic to you like boxing that would probably be erotic them. And are you guys alleging that the rocky three scene is not a Roddick you guys are alleging that that's something that's being alleged right now, you guys are with a straight face telling me that that the reason that that's not a memorable. Laughable Steen is because it suddenly became frolic neurotic as the faces would be straight. No. Is that that's a good time for the straight talk green. By the way, if you wanna do that. Again, you're timing could be better on those. I the watch it's all about the the watch seen in the volleyball scene of top gun because nobody checks watched that way that vigorously with the PECS poking out as much as they did actually as exactly how it took the only thing stopping me from rhinos. I'm not wearing to watch. I check my watch weight because of the top gun scene. That's how I learned how to check my watch. How you learn. How to do a lot of things from the movies? I gotta be honest. It's two thousand nineteen because I don't know what the rules are anymore. I'm just calling it Roddick when all my life. What I've called it as homoerotic. So now, we're out. No hold on. What were you going now that everyone can see it? Now, everyone can see now everyone can see what it is that I'm talking about. But I just don't know if I'm allowed to do that anymore. I can tell what you were talking about without you, specifically putting a voice to it. Thanks, then the running scene was about. About rocky not pushing himself to his limit and Apollo getting upset with him. And that's why you get the second scene were rocky finally wins the race. And that's why they're celebrating. Hey, you thought you've reached your limits, but you can work harder. And we found you found that spot where you can work harder than you've ever worked before. And here we are. We're going to celebrate the Fuzi. Labor's Spicer little it's a little fun..

"All right. We're back got a few more clips for you this Christmas Eve Frank Stallone might preferred Stallone and tells about this geo show up so nine thirteen this is from twenty twelve it's Frank Stallone. He's telling him a story of being hunted by a rooster. When he became the ultimate prey Frank Salone on the Adam Crozier. Yeah. It's funny though to have your sixty six year old brother probably telling Roy Jones, you know, you're you're thirty eight. Now, you should Roy Jones never got back him. Sly was wanted to use them in rocky Balboa Roy Jones never got back. Dad? Had it had to be his no big time. They called them. It had to be sewing slash stone wants to do. No, man. I don't want to take higher for music videos, man. He got confused any turned it down. Swear to God back. He's spends a lot of time in Dade County raising fighting cocks. Yeah. Underplays advice fights chickens. Cock chicken divided up. How come he can get away with it? And here if you yell at your dog, you get fucking scented SPCA or I don't know. I think part of it is living in Florida any fights dogs to does. He fight dogs. Of course. She does is cock Roosters dogs. I didn't know that dogs legal Cox, not in where he's for talks. I think you can get like a I think you can't fight Reuss tell. Yes, you can I got tact by one on sepulveda's boulevard by Kak Kak. Yes. Wait a minute. I will swear you guys. Find out if you can fight Roosters legally. Okay. I think you can I think you can get like an Indian casino. I think can get like a cult. If you're black guy and your dad fought Roosters, you can fight. Grandfather law your tax by. Swear to God. I'd get up at five five thirty in the morning, and I walk and jog some venture boulevard Santa Monica, Santa Monica. So I swear to God, I'm going down Santa Monica boulevard. I got my headset on that three years ago. And I turn rated the new to know where the new art theater. Yeah. Site make that corner. I think it sought tell and I swear to God it's like five thirty morning, and I see these little chickens like bantam Roosters, but they're small in there. Like eating like your brother to catch to be grassy lightning-fast, thunder, grip lighten chicken. Yeah. So anyway, I see. Wow, man. You know, we had a farm growing up. I'm fucking awesome. But they're on the sidewalk. There's like this really bed used car like Armenian this used car place. This. Hege? Wow. Hey, what's in the fucking thing? Attacked me by shit out of me. Yeah. Really because they can jump and he like fuck and pick me inscription you mother fucker birds are mean like human being so any next day. So I someone shoot this motherfucker tomorrow. So I had thirty eight and I put snake shot at it. Sure. And I have only. Yeah. It's the right thing to do. That particular mother daughter there was a rooster. He's getting shut wasn't as snake shot is basically shotgun for your thirty eight. That's it. Right. And I was going to come by the morning. I was gonna throw like a piece of bread them cap that mother. Fuck right goes. I went to the police station. I said I just got tact by fucking rooster. What would you still killed at fucker? You kidding? What happens if a little kid walked up to him and a rooster tack? If I could think jump thinking like sixteen put down in destroy. I all I was laying. I swear to the razors. Well, the Spurs put razors on them. So I talked to my friend across street as a body shop. I always say who the fuck what these Roosters doing on sought tell right near the newer theater goes. We gotta get. Yeah. Fucking Armenian guys. They've never sold a car. But there's something going on there said like fucking illegal maybe fighting Roosters fucking like killing people shit by said vic- fucking rooster shooting at bitch. So I came by next morning. I had a Colt hammer bodyguard Smith and Wesson model sixty and I was a cap is as I would've been quick to. Yeah. It's not allowed to make mistakes. This just popped taken to with one right gonna hassle. So the chickens not there. I mean disappeared man. I never saw him. Again..

"But I still enjoyed it because of these actors. Yeah, it was kind of sitcom you maybe a little bit. I just feel like you see this scene a lot in movies. And I. Had no problem with Jordan. I have problems with some of the way Donald was written in this movie. And this is kind of one of them. We've never seen him be nervous when he picked up Bianca knocking on her door. She was playing the music loud. And I also guess or hearing loss had progressed greatly. Because in the last one she said, she only needed her hearing aids in crowds to pick out specific voices. And now she can't hear anything without the men. She said it was progressive hearing loss that was like issue still doing her music. We're gonna find out. Yes. But that's not the focus of this movie, especially at the beginning. And what I didn't get until I read an interview is this is all a callback to rocky too because rocky asks Adrian to marry him and Adrian goes, I'm sorry. I didn't hear you because she had earmuffs on and rocky was mumbling as so this whole she didn't hear the proposal is supposed to be a callback to that. And that is one of my complaints with these creed films. They're called. Creed creed the character in this film. There's a lot of dramatic moments. I liked but it's not creed. We got the draw goes regatta rocky in his son. Feels like rocky the television show like, okay? This is going to be about creed proposing, then we're going to go to these characters over here ills like there's a lot being juggled in this film. This movie is indeed in so many ways a parallel to rocky too. I feel bad for Tessa Thompson who I really enjoyed in the first creed film. But didn't remember the actresses real name wouldn't we've reviewed Thor ragnarok. I had no clue that was the same actress she gives such totally different performances and body language and everything in those two roles that even rewatching creed idle, see a hint of Elkarri in it. And I don't see a hint Valkyrie in creed to she's a great actress, and she is stuck in the Adrian roll here of being left at home giving birth to a baby. Well, the husband. Goes out and boxes, and she just get such a back seat here that that was really disappointing. I do want the Bianca movie where they just follow her music because I really dug her music in this film. Yeah, I like to music in this movie too. And I agree with you both. I think she kind of got the shaft in this one. But she was also good at annihilation Arnie. I recognize her Nyla when I saw her now the port movie, you're absolutely right. She's such a good actress. Sometimes you don't recognize her it first. Yeah. And she's going to be in men in black next summer with Chris Hemsworth again. So I think she's really good. And I think her character gets the short end of the stick which I wasn't expecting. We're at these early scenes, I think bianca's going to get focus like she did last time, but she isn't going to we get the scene at the beginning where she's talking about moving to LA because she wants to get close at a record labels and work on her music. And she knows that there's a ticking clock because of her hearing and Adana he's like, well, I gotta stay for oak and rocky, I guess. He's now completely cancer free. Completely is against what I thought would happen. I still thought rocky would die and Stallone would go for that. Oscar, I thought he might have deserved an Oscar nam for creed one not so much for creed too. I think he's fine. But I don't think he's exceptional. You're an absorbed by his fight with city hall to get his lamp fixed that streetlight that seemed like a cut plot from rocky Balboa never got. Thanks..

"It's not 'cause 'cause there isn't like I think there are number of things you could have done to make this a stronger movie one is show, the Ivan Drago story and arc a little more. Right. And maybe even a little more a little more poignantly. Another is to have kind of parallel arcs in Victor and Donna's life. You know and have that have the conflict between them be a conflict more of be kind of mirrored in a character conflict, a conflict of values as much as it is a conflict, physical conflict or conflict of sort of boxing styles are kind of puzzle where the shorter and less muscular creed needs to figure out how to deal with the the raw power of Victor is capable of bringing to bear. Like, this is these are these are all ways to to. Slightly more tightly integrated film. So to answer the question that you had called upon me to ask in rocky foot, which I can't believe it. Forgot this in rocky five rocky son rookie Bevo junior is played by sage Stallone. So that's just a loans real life son who actually died six years ago, and I don't actually know the circumstances under which he died off the top of my head and they're not in his IMDB trivia page. Whereas when we get to rocky bell Bulla, then Rocky's son, rocky Balboa junior is instead played by due to the guy from heroes, right, which is a meal meal. O vent Amelia is from heroes and gosh, looking at other stuff he's done. He's on this is us, and he plays his son rocky Balboa, and he comes back to Price's role in rocky in Ryan creed to aka rocky eight right? Being I didn't realize that Sylvester Stallone had a son who died so long ago that is that really puts a little bit more a little bit more pesos in these spas, father and son stories, he's always telling do, you think do you think that Jj Abrams is going to do a gritty reboot of the rocky franchise where Philadelphia's nuke from orbit and rocky has to train, you know, rocky has to train in a different timeline. That would be great. If we got to have it. Once we get to the point where all of them all where they've dispensed with human actors, and all of the actors are CGI recreations of famous people that are sort of motion captured by using the cheapest available labor and reproduced on screen. I would like to see a kind of rocky dystopia an action movie where rocky has to.

"Third down podcasts. I'm your host wing counter, and let me lead off because an ad number ways that could have gone about this intro. I could have led off with Kareem hunt could lead off with the Redskins being the Redskins. We gotta talk about Alabama Georgia. But you know, what here's what we're going to lead off with. I was wrong. I was wrong because Tyson fury last night became the living. Embodiment of rocky Balboa Tyson fury got absolutely robbed of the greatest comeback. I mean, I, you know, I don't get to say grace comeback. I'll say the hyperbole, but I will say one of the greatest comebacks in sports history last night by incredibly corrupt judging system in boxing, Tyson, fury, whom I consider to have the luckiest victory in sports history four years ago over Wladimir Klitschko. I guess what? I got to apologize. I was wrong. The man earned that victory against Klitschko. It was not Klitschko being old. I thought it was Klitschko not having the fire anymore. And then, you know, discovering the fire again in finding anti jazz ruin getting that data anyway. But I thought the lost of fury was the fluke. That's a fluke. Does it? Fear is the real deal Tyson fury. It's bite of his struggles with alcohol and drug addiction two years away from.

You know what I don't? I was gonna say he's been done before he's been several times. I mean, look, I think he wants to be done at ain't. And they're going to who knows. Do you wanna see rocky die? You don't wanna you? Don't wanna see that. I thought that almost saw that. And the movie had nice closure. If this is his last out. Well, here's a times. He's been after rocky five he was supposed to die in that. Right. Then they change it. Then rocky Balboa. They're like we've put a bow on it. And now we've got this third time I've done in creed. He may-maybe was supposed to die that went to the first one. Yeah. Because of the cancer, but then I feel like they fucking changed at the end. 'cause he's probably like I'd wanna die rocky kit. I. I don't know. But this I think they should they should end it here. I think the done they do basically they're going to do the stadium where they jump over everything. And he's been dead for years. I mean, think of what's the loan is done. What other person has played a character for forty years directed for the movies written a bunch of and start and all of them. Like, there's there's only one other guy who's at the top Bruce Willis doing those hard films. Yeah. Directed anything showed us. But I alone to create this character. That's so Iconex still lasted forty and I love seeing like I love Stallone at this age his little black hat. I kind of excited for this new Rambo stealing Graham five I fucking love this old still load. Like, he just seems a. A marvel universe. Oh, yeah. That's right. They could do a spinoff. He seventy two seventy two same thing. Arnold Arnold as early seventies. So where he looks younger than bridge. Neil. He's also having he's handling lot of work done. Yeah. So loan, and he's he's taken a lot of fucking h. Yeah. His just want to point that out. He's seventeen years older. Think about this. Right. He did rocky Balboa. Yeah. Then he opened up a whole new action franchise with the expendable ze. Yeah. Did three of those did Rambo another action move. Yes. And has a fucking increase still going, right? Yeah. That's great. It is. It's crazy. What he's created. He's. He called bullet to the head. Yeah. Where he fights Jason momoa. I've heard of that. So ramble five last blood is filming twenty nineteen the expendable four announced. Okay. Since you guys grew up in the. Who is your guy who is your action icon? I mean, you know, your I'm gonna go right to fucking Arnold Schwarzenegger. Of course. Yeah. Action arnold. Okay. Always Arnold Stallone. And then you could throw in on this event. Yes. But those are. Yeah. That was another tier and then the tier after that was like Wesley Snipes dolph Lundgren dolphins kind of their land. What's his name would have been in there to randomly Brandon Lee, except yeah, he had to die. He was in a couple of movies using a few movies. He was in that movie with lender in little Tokyo. Yeah. Do you think you'll ever play in the again, I don't unfortunately? Wasted talent. He was a great player when he was on the Niners. He had almost broke the sack record at one point in his career. So he was on track to break the all time sack record for for a couple of years is first two years. We're insane. Yeah. And what else especially all? We should talk about about this. Yeah, I say we move on. Let's talk about hockey real quick Buffalo Sabres. Sure. Do you know that they are the best team right now in the NHL, and they were the worst team then it will last year. Isn't that great? When you see a team just come back from the brink of obscurity. It is great. And I feel like hockey is a sport where that can happen. Whereas maybe like NBA we never see that happen unless the worst team gets they super team in the off season or something like that, right or. Yeah. Like the warriors. It is crazy though, they're setting some records down there. They may they're making history, but they were last place. And now they find themselves sitting atop the NHL. So. Yeah. Wash defer worst to forced to I I forgot to talk about this yesterday because you know, yesterday, November twenty seventh on that day in one thousand nine hundred five rocky Balboa knocked out Ivan Drago and Russia on the fifteenth round. And then was the date on that. I've ever twenty-seven nineteen eighty-five that was yesterday. I meant to say it yesterday. But I forgot about it. And you're five months old you were alive in nineteen eighty-five. I'm a Reagan baby. How old are you? I'm a Reagan baby, my friend, gosh, you're old. I and I thought you were. You're older than I thought you were. Yeah. Right. You're welcome. For the column. I thought you were younger, and I think you the new movie Cree too is. I think it's already released maybe is released. I've heard about it really wanna see it. But I've never seen creed one. It's good. But this one's more about the it's like a sequel to rocky four okay because I I've in Drago and his son versus creden rocky. It's basically what it is is. So's rocky fighting in this one no Rockies, not fighting. He's in the corner of creed. Gotcha. Who's facing Ivan? Drago warner. Goes in the corner of his son. So the both of these old guys are in the corners and there, and there's managers there. They're the guys, man. There. Yes. Okay. So so the so creed versus drug as son is basically what's going on here? Paulo creek son Apollo creed junior. The Vondra is are they juniors? No, okay. Never mind. Basically to summarize it is. Yes. Yeah. Three junior versus Drago junior. Okay. And that was the best rocky movie now. Yeah. Yeah. I love I them. love that movie that one in two drug. I think drug was the best villain, right? Yes. And the better villain better than Mr. T, Mr. g's, wildly entertaining. But it's it's the whole Cold War. You know, Russia United killing creed. Was like oh snap crackle. Pop Rice Krispies? Like this just got really crackled up. Like, how do you kill someone with boxing gloves? All yeah. Ivan Drago just did it. Well, he was like he had some crazy Russian steroids. Right. Wasn't. He. I think so that was. The beginning of HGH. I don't know nineteen eighty-five. They're probably doing it before. Then has a baseball player who's been accused of using HGH ever just said like, well, you know, I saw it in a movie. No, I don't think that's ever been the case ever. Because it's probably a guy giving him the HGH the the guy selling a very seen..
Here's how 'Creed II' is a direct sequel to 'Rocky IV'
"Yeah. This is another sequel creed which was a reboot of the rocky franchise came out a few years back with Michael Jordan as the young fighter being trained by rocky Balboa. It was quite good. It was surprisingly good really well directed. The fight action was well stage. Michael Jordan was charismatic in the lead role. This picture doesn't work nearly as well. Instead of rethinking the formulas. The rocky franchise it really just repeats them creed in this case has to fight the son of the Russian ragle dolts Lundgren who had killed freeze father Apollo creed. And whom then rocky beat up in the big final climactic battle of rocky four. And basically this movie is pretty much a repeat of rocky four for a new generation. It's decently done, and Michael beach. Jordan as usual is quite good and Stallone is they're doing his shucks routine as as the elderly rocky again. Film doesn't bring anything new to the table. It just as I say is repetitive. It's interesting to see Dolf Lundgren back as the father of the new Russian fighter. He played. Of course, stray go in the original rocky four, and he still looks pretty good. And he's certainly

'Creed II' is a direct sequel to 'Rocky IV'
"Director Steven cable junior to talk about the sequel to Ryan Koukoulas twenty fifteen installment in the rocky franchise creed to is about Donna's creed. Now a championship boxer and his mental rocky Balboa, but it's also about Rockies nemesis from rocky four Ivan Drago and Ivan son, Victor, it's a movie about fathers and sons legacy. And what happens when you're no longer the underdog. I talked to cable junior about what he learned from Sylvester Stallone how to rebuild the drug with storyline and making his own way in a complicated. Franchise. Your Stephen cable junior. I'm joined today by Stephen capable junior. Steven thanks for coming in. Thanks for having me, man. Stephen you directed creed to how did this happen for you a question. No, we I was writing my own script in. I was working on TV show called Greenwich. When I got the call. You know, what I mean, I I did not have greed to went on on a slate or anything like that it just kind of came out of nowhere. And how it happened was a guest MGM has saw my feature film the land in Ryan coup has suggested that a look into because he was don't buy Panthera time and got a call. These guys are spotted sly has oughta peace Michael Jordan has everybody felt comfortable and good about it and didn't necessarily have to pitch myself interesting. So you don't have to come in and say, here's my vigil. I definitely did say here's a vision. I have because I got the script Innis from sly in sly had wrote a draft that had a basic foundation of everything, but he felt like. He wanted to dive deeper into Donald his life, and he wanted to Tesla's, and then we're still playing with the draw goes. And so when I got the script it was like, our has some ideas, you know, when I pitched it to them, they're like while the these work, and it's the stuff that you'll see a lot in a film when I'll spoiling it because I don't know when this comes out doors, we won't be so. Yeah. But so tell me a little bit about your relationship to the rocky franchise where you were you all in as a kid, or is it something that was sort of new to get started doing? No, not at all. I don't know who has not seen entire rocky franchises. Like once in a while here. Somebody says they haven't and I'm might complete shock like you haven't seen rocky. What I was a kid as a kid. I I guess I'm considering young. But I saw the first one I saw was rocky five. Oh, wow. That was the first one thousand first one I saw that's not a great place to start. Everyone keeps the today. Right. Everybody keeps saying that in. And again, I I understand why I guess as a filmmaker. And you know, being who I am now where I'm at. But when you're like six years old watching like rocky five and you see Tommy gun in boxing and people industries. That thing was cool. I mean, it was just cool to me then when I went back backwards. So now start to go to first one then second now that stuff and then when I did I played sports. I was basketball player. So obviously sex is huge sports connection growing up. So throwing my teenage years. It was just about like motivation. I love to underdog story, but around seventeen eighteen, you know, nineteen starting to go to college starting to look into film taken more seriously. That's when I started appreciate a four. What it is. Are you thought sly and what they rocky one which is my favorite one was fascinating man thought it was bowl. They try some really cool things in there. And I was like, wow, you know, a flawed character. Who's not like put here pushback super suave? He stuttering he's doing this. He felt human, you know, and I'm like, oh, that's why I felt so connected to this character, you know. So I thought that was really cool you had this unusual burden with this movie where you have the legacy of the rocky franchise, and then you also have the burden of creed.

'Creed II': Michael B. Jordan risks it all for Creed-Drago Round 2 in new trailer
"Were just watching Brian. The creed will not the trailer, but they have this sort of side by side because it's a, it's it's creed, son, yes. Donna's Adana fighting play by Michael Jordan Geragos leave. His name is Victor Drago played by Michael Jordan right that that would be a hell of an acting feet. The plot is I understand it from the creed to trailer, which I think was released today is that a donnas creed, the son of a Pollock creed will be fighting and trained by naturally rocky Balboa fighting Victor Drago the son of the site under on Drago who killed in what was supposed to be exhibition match. Just an exhibition, right? Apollo because rocky did not tell. Well. Did you turns out and you're right, Andy, the trailer did just come out today. So when have in right. I. They have is top and bottom sort of side by side comparison of rocky in a moment, staring down Drago in the new movie and rocky staring down Drago in the old movie and rocky four, which was eighty six. I think it's eighty six and and I was just remarking how dolph Lundgren kind of looks pretty good and looks like he's had less worked on than than rocky who. And if you look at the clip from rocky four still on it already started getting work done. I face the face.
