"To you. Thanks so much for joining us. I am stunned by the number of people who tell me that you laughed during my radio show. I mean, there were times when I'm trying to be serious. You know that right? No, I think it's good to laugh and Even though it's always been my approach to sports radio to be irreverent, it's not life or death. How many times have you heard me say that it's like, not life or death? It's not the war overseas. It's not the fight against cancer. It's not co vid. It's sports, for heaven sakes, and while very often life in sports will intersect. Most of what we do here on the show. I maintain a fairly irreverent approach to sarcasm is my love language, so generally take everything I say. Through the lens of humor or sarcasm or recognize that I'm very rarely super serious, dead serious about the world of sports because it Z for us. It's entertainment for them. It's a business and I understand we at times need to look at the world of sports through the lens of the coaches of the players, and I certainly do like the highlight the human interest stories. But for heaven's sakes, it's It's not earth, shattering most of the time. It's supposed to be fun. So I'm glad that you will laugh when you listen to the show. But I'm a little bit concerned that you're not laughing at what I'm saying. You're laughing and how I'm saying it or sometimes the dumb mistakes I'm making. I suppose it's not a whole lot I could do about that. So it is what it is. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS Sports Radio, I guess when I threw out our question, though, and I asked you what's made you laugh this week. I didn't expect that so many of you would say your show. Producer, Frank I need a little validation here. Should I take that as a compliment? Context is King. But I can create my own context. I think because people are just telling me they laugh during my show. That's good, right if you can create your own context, And why would you put it in a bad context? Right? Whatever. It was supposed to be an opportunity for you to give me validation, not rhetorically. Throw the question back in my face. Yes, they are laughing with you. Not at you. Okay near me. They're laughing near me. See, I'm laughing. Now. We've come up with some audio that we think it's funny. That will maybe create some submerged for you on this Thursday morning. I just can't believe it's February. 11 that I was saying is we were heading up to the top of the last hour. That it blows my mind 11 months ago was the MBA, suspending all operations on day. So much has changed in sports and in our world in the last 11 months, And yet we've forged ahead and we've we figured out a way to do life. It looks different sounds different. It feels different A lot of times. But laughter is still a great medicine and laughter still burns calories, and I still think it's really important. So when I was standing out in my yard on Tuesday morning, I had just finished walking the dog Penny, and I'd finished our morning walk. She is a morning dog and I am Well, I'm not a morning person or a morning dog. Regardless of when I wake up. I do not do well, it mornings if morning happens to be three o'clock in the afternoon, while I still it still takes me a while. In some coffee TOC take out the cobwebs. Penny is a morning person. She loves the mornings, I guess because she's just been sleeping for the last 12 hours. So why not so she gets all excited, especially when it's cold? She loves the snow. This is what happens and this This is a routine now with her because we have about 2 Ft. Of snow in my front yard. I will turn my back either to open up the door. So unlock the door. And as we get ready to walk in after our walk, or I will go around the side of the house and all you know, use the trash can or grab the recycles to put about the street. Whatever it is, I turned my back on the dog for a couple of seconds. It's very it's a quick short. Amount of time I turn around the dog staring at me, with her entire face covered with snow. And she looks so goofy and I know she's waiting for me to react. Australian shepherds are too smart for their own good. They are very quick to pick up on their human triggers. They understand what's going on with their humans. And so this is what she does. She smashes her face. She doesn't face plant on purpose into the snow, or she gets a running start and body slams the snow and a lot of places in my neighborhood right now, the snowdrifts Well, they're not dress the snow piles or the you know, kind of the cast off from from where people have shoveled. The to the sides of the snow walls. They're taller than she is. So you would lose her. If you were standing on the other side of the snow pile the snow wall. You would not even be able to see her. So she gets this kind of running store in smashes her body into the snow. Or she plunges her face into a pile of snow, and she pulls her face out in her entire face is covered with snow, and she looks like such an idiot. That I can't laugh out loud and she does it on purpose. This is not an accident. My dog is actually shoving her face into the snow on purpose. Like she's a little kid or something. And so it makes me laugh. I can't help it. She just looks so goofy and the fact that my dog is doing this on purpose. I'm pretty sure to make me laugh just is is the cherry on top. So my dog makes me laugh My Grammy Helen, I spoke to her on Wednesday evening. I initially called when she was eating dinner, and so I had to call back. On dshaughnessy. She always makes me laugh, too. I told her no more falling, and she giggled at that, like it was the funniest thing I've ever said. And then I told her that she's my superhero. She is a superhero, my favorite superhero, and she laughs at that, too. And s so we We talked about the snow. I told her how much snow we had and that it took me two hours to dig my car out, and she laughed at that, too. So I come by it. Honestly, it's hereditary, laughing at nothing and everything. I blame my Grammy Helen for the That, but it was sure was good to hear her laugh. And then this is kind of where the idea came from. Tito ask you what's made you laugh this week. My friend of mine, my friend Mark and I. We were on the phone Tuesday. No Wednesday. Sorry. See, my days all run together every time we were on the phone Wednesday, and we were talking about how it's been such a long time since we've had the occasion to dress up and he had to do this TV appearance, and so he mentioned that he had worn a suit and tied it was the first time and probably a year that he'd worn a suit and tie. And I said the same thing that I sometimes put on. Nice. You were to come to work, even though no one sees it. And even though it's pointless on Gui decided we were gonna go to the grocery store all dressed up. I was gonna wear a dress and heels and all my jewelry and he was gonna wear a suit and tie. We were just gonna go to the grocery store and we were gonna pretend like it was date night and we were going to laugh. One of the people stared at us. So whatever it takes peeps, whatever it takes to make yourselves laugh that's required this day and age. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS Sports Radio, We're live from the Rocket mortgage studios already say this Okay. I have to sometimes checked with the producer because I don't even know when you need certainty the home buying process with a loan If it's your life, rockets can 855 to 1 to 4 to 27. That's 855 to 1 to four. CBS. I also laughed the fact that some of you got the hippopotamus song stuck in your head. So that was my fault, And it wasn't really intentional,.

"You have to have as a head coach. You want to hear confidence? Connor, play it. This is confidence on die. I'll tell you this in any fight. It's the guy who's willing to die. Who's gonna win that inch? I know if I'm gonna have any life it's because I'm still willing to fight and die for that inch. That's what living is six inches in front of your face. I can't make you do it. You gotta look at the guy next year. Look into his eyes. Now. I think you're gonna see a guy who will go that inch with you. You're gonna see a guy. Who will sacrifice himself for this team because he knows when it comes down to it. You're going to do the same for him. That's a team, gentlemen, and either we heal now as a T Wei will die as individuals. That's football guys. That's football. That's football. Thank you, Al Pacino. That's football. You guys can chime in 855 to 1 to 4 to 27. That's four CBS. It's Carlton's on CBS sports radio in today, and we're talking about These head coaches that have been hired in the National Football League. Yesterday. We got a chance to hear too. Of the guys that got their deal's finalized in Nick's Syriani and David Collie. Syriani didn't impress me. It's just what it is. And everybody says you're going overboard. I want to take you back to 2018 to 2018 hiring cycle. Do you remember you probably don't because everybody's worried about so many other things in this world that are going on right now, right? Mean Colvin 19 is right in our face. We got all this other stuff that we're dealing with. And you probably don't remember. So let let me help you. 2018 Steve Wilkes was hired as the Arizona Cardinals new head coach. That Maggie got the job with the Bears. My name at Patricia became the lion's head coach. Frank Wright took over the Colts. Had Schumer with the Giants. And a guy named Jon Gruden said. I'm coming out of retirement. He took the job on to become the Raiders head coach. There's one more Might Grable. Became the coach of the Titans. No, I just wanna go down this list. 12. Half these guys were Not head coaches anymore. Steve Works got fired. The next year, Matt Maggie should be fired. In my opinion he still being retained by the Bears. Matt Patricia's back with Bella check. Isn't that ironic after being fired by the Lions? Then patch humored in last either. You don't know how this is going to shake out. Everybody thinks they got the right guy. We'll know in three years, three years is playing up time in the NFL will know in three years of Robert's. Allah knows what he's doing, and if he's still there with the Jets, and if they've turned things around and two Staley with the Chargers and Arthur Smith with the Falcons, all of these guys will know Urban Meyer, who's never coaching NFL game and everybody's going. He knows what he's doing. He may This is a whole different monster. The greatest college football coach in the history of college football. Next saving didn't conquer this. So I think I remind knows what he's doing. I believe he's got a handle on it. But we're gonna see Because so many guys take these jobs on and think their head coach is you have to know what you're doing, and you have to sound confident so men will follow your lead. Here's the other thing, too, when talking about these head coaches. You know, I, uh, I see this all the time. And, ah, lot of this is part of just what happens with relationships and coaching relationships, But You know these organizations and you look at him and you go. Are they making the right choice? Just don't hire somebody because of their connection to somebody. Just just don't do that. I mean, Bella checks a prime example guys. You know what I just said in that Patricia Matt Patricia left what's become the coaching lines? Now he's back. With with Belichick. Romeo Cornell, left. Eric Mangini left, Josh McDaniels left came back. Bill O'Brien. Who's now the coordinator, Ironically, in Alabama, But O'Brien left, Yeah. You want a couple of you know, we got to the playoffs. None of these guys had Bela Chick success haven't won Super Bowls. His apprentice coaching tree is fruitless. It just is. So when I hear well, you know, he knows such and such and he worked for, such as you Don't hire a guy just because of who you think that guy, uh, you know, coach for She's not gonna be that guy. Gotta be his old guy. And that mistake is when you know what's happened Time and time again, So I don't know what kind of coach Nick Syriani is gonna be. But I do know this plan one more time for me, Connor. I do know this. You gotta sound like you know what you're talking about. Next thing that's very important to me is that we build a smart football team. We have a smart football team here, and I know we have the people in place to do that. The first part of that The first part of being smart is knowing what to do. We're going to. We're going to know what you're gonna do Systems in place that Are easier to learn. All right, complicated to the defense or offense that they're going against the special teams group. They're going up but easy for us to learn because when we can put that because we when we can learn our system and we can get good at our system, then our talent can take over less thinking equals talent take over, But we need to have systems in place and we will have systems in place. To do so Well, let's talking. How about that? How about that? Oh, my goodness. 855 To 1 to 4 to 27 is the number for you to join us. "Four, CBS. Is the number to jump on in that safe 55 to 1 to 42 27. You could also give me a follow. Shoot me a tweet via the girl cess pool of Twitter at Zach Gil that Z a C H g l B on her network's account at CBS Sports Radio. Yes, on a football Friday. You didn't get the big football Friday because it's not an actual football Friday as the Super Bowl is next week, so It's a football Friday, light addition today of the Zach Gil show, But we will be talking a lot of football. Just no games to talk about this weekend as you will have the final game of the 2020 2021 season coming up next Sunday. As as you know, By now, it is Super Bowl 55 that will air on CBS. Between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, led by Tom Brady and the Patrick Mahomes led Kansas City. How about those cheese? Ryan Trey, Sticky along the other way we're coming alive is always from the rocket Mortgage Studios. Rocket mortgage is giving away millions during Super Bowl 55 with the rocket mortgage, Super Bowl Square soup, 60 rules and for free today That rocket mortgage squares dot com Coming up at the top of the hour now is a former NFL quarterback just recently retired, was a backup for the last few years at one point in the NFL. I think it was the 2000 and nine season he led the league in passing yards. Former Texan former Elena Falcon Had a few other stops along the way as well. Matt Shab is going to join us at the top of the hour. We'll get the whole low down on his of in his opinion and his view on what's going on with his former team in the Houston Texans, where that's where we start the show. That's basically been the majority of the conversation. Throughout the week because you saw the Texans introduce Dave Cali today who actually feel bad for his 65. He finally gets a head coaching job, and no one really gave a rat's ass about Dave Coley today at the introductory press conference. It was the Shawn Watson to show Mozz into Shawn Watson to Shawn Watson to Shawn Watson. Question after question after question after question. The Texans brass, which considered Nick Cas Aerio and also Dave Colin, Quite frankly, the two people that I probably would want to hear from the most weren't really made available today. Jack Easterby was nowhere to be found. And Cal McNair. I saw a tweet today for my guys. Sean Salisbury, Cal make there wasn't even supposed to be at the press conference or attend the press conference on Zoom I guess Then once all the public backlash did occur, and everyone's saying how gutless the Texans were and how we Cal McNair is as the owner of the Houston Texans, How do you not show up to the press conference Introducing your new head football coach. They had Cal McNair appear on the screen for a minute. Read a prepared statement look as nervous as nervous could be. And then he said, Okay, goodbye will get a hand it over to Nick this area and Dave Cully and not a single question could be asked. One Kalle McNair, So we'll get into that a little bit later on in the show. The big takeaway from this press conference, and I don't even know how big it is because if you think about it, so what if the Houston Texans say they have zero interest in trading dish on Watson? Now they may say that now is that part of the leverage ploy. Is that part of we don't want to tip our hand right now, when the entire world knows that the Shawn Watson wants out and yes, he's under contract through 2025. What is the contract mean now? Yeah, he's supposed to be on the Texans through 2025. How many times have we seen in the NFL or even the MBA, a player, son of contract and then within a year or two say, I don't wanna be a part of that organization and then if they utilize social media correctly if they utilize the media correctly if they start Bitching and complaining every time that they have an opportunity to do so and go out of their way than they can force a trade and really put the public pressure and really put pressure on the Houston Texans. Give you think about it. James Harden wanted out. We knew James Harden was going to get traded. He expedited the process when James Harding got in front of the media and basically told you this team can't win anymore. And the minute he said that the organization basically said Oh, we knew we were gonna eventually trade and we were holding out for the right package and the right deal Now we got to really get the ball rolling on this and he was traded the next day. They had the offers. They knew who the two teams were that were the strongest at the time. It was the Sixers and the team that eventually went to in the Brooklyn Nets. James Harden. They'll had power James Harden was, I guess trying to play it for the situation. How talk to get became the quote unquote right way, and he was trying to be cordial and a relationship that was contentious and in a relationship That he wanted out and eventually he went to the area of okay. We're going to really make this explosive and for the Shawn Watson, he could give you and ambiguous tweet. He could like things on social media that will start to show his hands and we saw the report yesterday that he a few weeks ago requested a trade. But that didn't come public today. So it does appear that the Sean who has every right to be annoyed with the organization has every right to be agitated with the organization and should be Pio did and should want out. I don't fault him for a second. So don't take that in a negative way where I sail, maybe could start acting like a jerk. Or maybe he could really start to ramp up this process he should, because the Sean Watson's goal right now it shouldn't be to listen to Nick a stereo. It shouldn't be too. Listen to Dave coli because those aren't the roots of the problem. They're not. Dave Cooley could be a qualified guys been leaked forever. Now is a bit weird that he's getting his first head coaching job at 65 shirt. But when I heard Dave Cooley speak today in a tough spot when no one wanted to really talk to him, they and even if they did want to talk to me wasn't about him. He did a nice job hands on that today. Nick this area. He took that job. Yes, the nick A stereo higher could be a good hire. The reason why, though the optics of this or terrible is because it is a move that was presented and basically a move that gave Jack Easterby his way. And the stench of Jack Easterby was the problem with that higher. So this regime Cirio and Cully. I'm not going to say that it could end up working. But if you put them in a different organization, it probably is perceived differently. This is not the dish on Watson being annoyed at Nick to stereo and to Shawn Watson being anointed Dave Cully. This is the Shawn Watson being annoyed at Yes, Jack Easterby. More importantly, though he's annoyed at who? Cal Mick there. How many times we have to rehash this? Don't look at Chris Mortensen's report. Just getting rid of Jack Easterby wouldn't do it. Cal McNair needs the fire. Cal McNair. That's not gonna happen. It's very rare. You see an owner give up a team. So the question becomes when to the Texans actually moved the Shawn Watson If I'm the cause stereo? Yes, I'm trying to restore the relationship. If I'm Dave Kohli, I'm trying to restore the relationship ultimately, and they become it there and Jack Easterby. Let's just, you know, throw East to be aside for a second. Let's just a tackle McNair here. Maybe that there is telling to Syrian Dave Koli give it a try. We want to keep him. There will be, though a tipping point where to Shawn Watson takes us to the next level. And here's where the Texans aren't in a situation where they get the benefit of the doubt. It's already because the public has turned on them, and they should The Texans right now. Don't have a damn clue what they're doing. Well, let me change the way that I say that. Hell. McNair doesn't have a damn clue what he's doing. So the public perception of you is at an all time low. We're think about it Most of the time. People are outraged when a player demands out, especially when he's under contract. For the amount of length that the Sean wants it is there 2025. That's when I saw Watson's agent the other day, trying to protect his clients, and before people start to attack his character, all that no one's attacking his character. I think everyone has sympathy for the Shawn Watson. Right now. Everyone's saying you have my employer treated me that way..

"Are there already into their off season and trying to make plans now is Mickey Loomis, the same, GM said earlier on Wednesday, and then we heard it here on the show. It's really hard to actually plan for the off season for next season right now because you don't know what's gonna happen with the salary cap and the financial situation in the NFL is going to be impacted. After this strange season. They got all the way through it, but they lost a lot of money. And like every other sport, they're gonna have to adjust and probably restrict some spending lower the salary cap, and it's difficult to figure out how much you could spend on a quarterback or what capital you can get up. You can get T give up for a QB like saying Matthew Stafford if you want to trade with the Lions for the starter. How do you know exactly what you can you're willing to lose or you can give up. If you don't know what the salary cap is, or you don't know exactly how The NFL is going to set you up for league year 2021, which doesn't technically start until March. We do finally have the seventh and last coaching job filled in the NFL and If you're surprised by the name David Cully in Houston. Well, then you are not alone. He is the Texan's new head coach. He's well known in NFL circles, of course, because he's been around the league for 30 years. He's 65. He's an NFL lifer. He's been in Baltimore the last two seasons. Do you strapped up his 27th year as an NFL coach. He's never worked as an offensive or defensive coordinator. He happens to come from the offensive side of the ball. He was the team's assistant head coach. Alongside John Harbaugh this past year. He also worked with Baltimore's passing game, which I don't have to tell you was last in the league, though. If you mention that to Harbaugh, he balks at it. He reminds you that they don't need to pass the ball when they have the best running game in the league. But I suppose there's some truth to that. But it's a bit of a catch 22 right? It's one of those which comes first chicken or the egg conversations, which comes first. Bad passing game that leads to you relying so heavily on your running game or you're running game is so good. You don't need to pass the ball, which we obviously know is not true, because that has come back to bite them now, multiple times in the postseason. Die Aggress. David Collie was Baltimore's passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach. This is who the Texans have tapped to be their brand new coach moving forward. Once again. Don't know if The Texans are a place where you can feel any kind of stability or if there's going to be a whole lot of patients there. I hope there is For Kali Fake But they're only 32 of these jobs. Even if it's a terrible situation. You take it anyway. That's my opinion. Having an NFL head coaching job. Having an opportunity is better than not, even if it goes horribly wrong. So even if they fire you, they still owe you a bunch of money After you get fired once you sign that contract, baby, your financial situation has changed. Maybe we'll bring back part of that, but really interesting stuff with Mike. And so it's after hours. Less than Matt Stafford, because Watson has got the team over a barrel, so maybe they can't get his much for him. It's kind of an interesting debate. Maybe we'll bring back part of that, but really interesting stuff with Mike. And so it's after hours. Amy Lawrence dot com to grab it. We're asking you Even as we were coming off of that conversation with Mike how many starting quarterbacks change teams next season? The list of teams that need starting quarterbacks. Is roughly not quite but roughly a third of the league. And so If you throw in.

"We are now officially closer to our weekend. Then we are to the weekend. That's in the rear view mirror. And so I'm excited. We can just about see it from where we are. Which gives me hope. But a little bit energy A jolt As I wrap up a show on a Wednesday morning, we know that we are closer to the end. That the beginning and of course, that means we're closer to championship weekend, the final four in the NFL. We're just now starting to talk about it. We know the Patrick Holmes is on course to play this weekend. He's passed every test and passed every checkpoint that he needs to. At this juncture in the week, though, there are still more tests that he has to clear and ultimately, the independent neurologist has to say he's OK to go out there on to compete on Sunday, But that is something we won't know until we get to the weekend. It's obviously a spot in Super Bowl 55. The Chiefs would love to have him. They're not the same team without him. But the $500 million man and the half a billion dollar investment that they've made and Patrick the homes. They've got to think big picture, too. And, of course, the doctors are there to prevent the athlete from pulling a fast one or the team from putting out there when it's unsafe, So we'll wait on Patrick Mahomes and we'll talk more about the championship game since we had closer to Sunday. Going to be a lot of fun. I think to see all the star power on the field. I hope the games are is compelling is what we got this past weekend. We're live from the rocket mortgage Studios..

"I've been cheating. I've been looking at some of the questions for asking me anything I'm not supposed to, but sometimes I can't help it. And then some of them you send to my Twitter account, and so I see them and I will confess there some questions that I actually really like. So that's cool. Thank you so much for your interest. As always. It's the longest running franchise. Here on after hours. It goes back to our times. We were hosting the three shows on the weekend, Friday, Saturday Sunday, and we've carried it over and now here we are into year number nine with after hours and ask Amy anything has been part of seven of those years. So it's some point. I suppose you'll run out of questions and I'll run out of answers. We've put it on the shell. We've tabled it for a time. I think there was a summer where we put it aside. But we've come back to it because many of you will send us questions throughout the week, actually, and we're glad that you're interested. Usually it's questions that don't have anything to do with sports, or if they do. They're not about professional sports. So we'll collect those questions and we will throw them out there. Producer Day's gonna throw it up like a softball, and I'm gonna hit it out of the park. So that's coming up about 90 minutes from now, So you have some time to be creative. And you spell your questions correctly on Twitter after our CBS or on our Facebook page after hours with Amy Lawrence, Thank you for all of your suggestions about a pet ramp. I had originally thought that potentially I could use a step stool for Penny, but actually think that that's the step stool that I have is probably too steep for her, and she would be afraid of it. On, so I'm gonna try a pet ramp. That's my next option. I don't think I have any two by fours or four by fours, laying around or plywood, and I'm not sure plywood would actually support my dog. She's got a big old, but I think she's an Italian dog. No, she's not, but but she's a solid papa. And she's like her mom. She's big boned. And so we're gonna try a ramp and see how that works. But as I say, we've got some some road tripping in our future. And so Penny loves to go to the park on the weekends. We love to take road trips, and I don't want her to be sore or in pain when she's trying to get it out of the car or worse. Be afraid of getting in and out of the car. So thank you for your suggestions. My Twitter is a law radio And then our phone number is 855 to 1 to 4 to 27 that they 55 to 1 to four. CBS. We're live from the Rocket Mortgage Studios. I think we will coming up sometime in the next hour. Dan Miller, the Amazing Incredibles descriptive, excitable Excitable. That's the word Dan Miller from the Lions radio network. He's one of my favorite listens, and it was a big day for the Detroit Lions because they introduced their new general manager, and he made his initial comments and likely to be introducing their head coach coming up maybe on Wednesday, and even though the team hasn't confirmed it yet. We believe it's Dian Campbell coming out of the Saint's organization, and so there's ah lot that's happening in Detroit. They've got questions about Matt Stafford, of course, and did. Miller is the longtime radio voice there and also with Fox to as the sports director, So we will talk to Dan coming up in this next hour. And of course, there have been general managers introduced in various other places as well. Head coaches are getting their first opportunities to speak to the media. I mentioned Denver are our caller mentioned the wilderness of Denver. Right before we hit the top of the hour. Will they have hired George Patton? No, not the General George Patton as their new GM. And this is the one that went pretty quickly to my understanding. He he had multiple opportunities and interviews, but he chose Denver and this was the guy that John Elway wanted. So John Elway, moving up in the front office will no longer be responsible for the roster and The putting together of the talent they're keeping Vic Fangio's. There's kind of Ah, a no overlap there. It doesn't always work out where coach and general manager not hired or brought it the same time, But Fangio is a lifer in the NFL. He's in his sixties. He's been around forever, and so you could expect that he would understand what's on the line here. So John Elway was kind of looking Now this is a new opportunity to get a fresh set of eyes on the roster on he's really excited that they can move forward. It's George Patton. We're very fortunate that he liked our situation and she chose to come to Denver, which were spittle about, But I think that shows a lot about a man as far as what kind of job he wants. What kind of success Who wants to have and it's not just about money, So we're thrilled that George.

Alright, let me open up the show with story lines as we inch closer and closer to what will be and what should be a very entertaining conference championship weekend. Where the first game you will see Aaron Rodgers hosting Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Little Buccaneers at Packers and then in Game number two. Magic Mahomes. He's still in concussion protocol. We don't know if he has a concussion. It may be a neck injury, a nerve in the neck. It's still very ambiguous, but he's still in concussion protocol. I am going to assume and you don't know the severity of it. You don't know what the injury actually is. But as we sent her on a Tuesday, and this is no inside sources, this is no inside information. Just got a feeling that Patrick Mahomes is going to play. And if that is the case, we should have an awesome second game on Sunday. Defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs and their third straight NFC championship game as Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid, Tyree Kill Travis Kelsey, Chris Jones. Eric, be enemy, whoever you want to talk about. They welcome in the buffalo Bills and the Buffalo Bills have been a great story. And if you really want to look at their story It's not so much just the rise this season, but it goes back to four years ago when they were in the postseason. I think they were nine and seven. That year they were in the postseason wild card weekend and they were going up against the Jacksonville Jaguars. You may not remember it because the game is very forgettable as it was the classic and I mean classic. Big, high octane offense type of game prodigious numbers. The final score actually made pin like 93 Look, look up what it was traces the Jacksonville Jaguars. It. Welcome in the Buffalo Bills and the Blake Bortles to Rod Taylor game. Oh, yeah. Yeah, That was the game that it was pedestrian. It was insipid. There was no offense in that. What was the final score? There wasn't 93. 10 3 10 3 short changed Jaguars offense there 10 points, So I missed the next your point somewhere there. All right, So it's 10 3 was the final and that Buffalo Bill's team After that, you go. Well, what are they really like? Yeah, good story. They made the playoffs this year Anytime. Buffalo makes the playoffs and last 20 years and it's something special. But what did the bill's going to turn out to be? And then the very next year, the Buffalo Bills they were below 500 football team. They finished the year six and 10. And they had this kid Josh Alan make his debut. And we don't know what Josh Allen was. Trust me, Alan, out of Wyoming. Everyone tries to be a draft expert. All Yeah, I watched all these games of Josh down. How many of you will I no disrespect to the program, but how many of you are watching Wyoming football? Like it's the same thing. Zach Wilson. BYU. And I like to be why you program the colonies Ataka. They produce some players in the National Football League. But how many people have seen Zach Wilson for the large majority of his career? No, we exact Wilson on the show when I see him play two or three times this year. You could even go back to the MBA. Remember, Mark tell folks was the number one overall pick. Washington How many people actually saw And maybe it's different. The West Coast coolers. But on the East Coast, how many people saw Marquel faults playing college? But during the draft time we all try to be experts. We all tried to tell you all we know this. When in reality, a lot of people are full of it. It is okay when we're talking about prospects to say From what I've seen. I liked him. But in the big picture, I have not seen enough and I get it. We're in this world. You got to give an opinion. Oh, you gotta be all and you got to say the guy's gonna be the next all time great quarterback or he's gonna be a bust. And Patrick Holmes 1/7 overall in that draft. First season didn't really give you much to think that he was going to be a great quarterback, and then last year Was when you saw the emergence of Josh Allen. And still last year. You didn't walk away knowing if Josh Alan was going to be great. You said you saw some signs, but there are some inaccuracy problems. Completion percentage is not where you wanted that. And Josh Alan, even though he had a good year. Last year, he left they sour taste in your mouth with having a big lead up against the Texans in the playoffs and then forgetting how to play football, and he had that agree. GIs fumble. Up against the Texans last year. They eventually lost that game. So this offseason I give credit to Brandon Bean. Give credit to Shah McDermott, who they were honest about themselves. They weren't celebrating. They weren't popping champagne about getting to the playoffs last year. They said, How could we make this team better? And they did so in one big area. That was the wide receiving room. Is that a good wide receiving room now copiously good receiver. John Brown could receiver but I would not call Cole Beasley, number one might perceive my not.

"Weekend in the National Football League? Obviously more games helps right. Two more games waged A I will go with this past weekend, though, as better just goes the matchups personally for me, we're better. Just there's little more to look forward to the high too. Right? You're that much closer. I think you know when you're down eight teams. It's legitimately eight good teams. Visual wild card. The shots on anyone didn't belong. We're outside of the bears Everyone else to belong. But I mean, like, you know, you got some teams on the lower wrong that, like the Colts, they go in the Super Bowl in no. They play for team short, So it's like now, next, you know the next round you closer to the Super Bowl caliber teams. Here's the selling point, actually, because I thought maybe I was going to go with wild card weekend. Just cause how long it is. For examples Sunday yesterday, at least got up in the morning, and it was nice that they moved the game from last year. What, three o'clock and then the other game at six. Whatever. It's you could least do something in the morning. I want to hike yesterday. When it's Saturday, Sunday one to midnight. You're not doing anything. So I think it's more enjoyable because it's just two games on Saturday, two games on Sunday. And at that point, it's the eight best teams left in the National Football League. Compared to what is what the best 14 teams that remaining in the National Football League or, in essence, 12 because he had two teams on by Last weekend. So Yeah, I would say that last week, it is still the best weekend of the year from a football fan standpoint, I also would say, though, I think sometimes people underselling that conversation this weekend Conference championship weekend. No, You don't get any Saturday drama, but you get two games on a Sunday with the right to go to the Super Bowl. There is part of me that awesome says maybe this weekend is the best weekend in the National Football League. So here's what I get from this conversation. It's not wild card weekend asked me this question. That's what you gonna be in charge of trace. You asked me this question coming up. A week from now. So this time next Monday, you asked me what was better division around the conference championship went round and what I think is the best weekend of the year in the National Football League company lives always of the rocket mortgage Studios. "Really Nice to be with all of you on a divisional round Sunday of the NFL playoffs. If you are not familiar with me or my work, I am coming to you live from the Rocket Mortgage Studios in Houston, Texas, the epicenter of soap operas central Around the sports world You want so proper in the embassy. We got it for you here in Houston. Well, not anymore. We traded James Harden. You want soap opera in Major League baseball still digging out from underneath the rubble of the signs feeling scandal? And then I would imagine our football team is actually the one thing that will be a heavy topic today on the show, as it was last week because the Houston situation with two Shawn Watson, the head coaching search, just the Severe dysfunction that's going on with ownership in the front office of that team is front and center around the NFL, mostly because it could make available One of the I don't know. Three or four brightest young quarterback stars in the league could become available auction style for other teams around the lake. So we'll get into all that with you. If you want to get in on this show, I do take phone calls. Lots of them If you want to get in. 855 to 1 to four. CBS is the number to get an eight by 5 to 12. 4 to 27 is the number two Get in. Um, if you happen to be listening to a station that all of a sudden flips from this show To carrying football. That happens a lot this time here know that you can download the radio dot com app and you can continue to stream the show while you watch football. It's a good way to do it. All right, 855212 Four. CBS. If you want to get in, I'm gonna start off the top of actual on the field football as you guys can probably imagine, with my being here in Houston, I've been pretty beaten down by this to Shawn Watson stuff. Make no mistake. I want to Shawn Watson to be Houston Texan for the next 15 years, but with each tweet that comes out from fairly informed people in news breakers and people that are talking to others. Like this one from Adam Schefter that came out 14 minutes ago. These air all like a punch upside the head. There's a growing sense of people in and around the Texans organization that to Shawn Watson has played the last nap for the team. It's early in the off season. There's a lot of time left, but Watson's feelings cannot and should not. Be underestimated. So that's the latest under Shawn Watson. We'll talk plenty about that. In fact, I would encourage you if you I'll encourage the same thing that I did last week, and when it comes to do, Shawn Watson, this helps me do my job here in Houston. Get the impressions of people from around the country. If you are in an NFL city that you feel should be making phone calls to the Texans about the Sean Watson's availability. Then, by all means. Start that phone call process by calling me and a 55 to 1 to four CBS who's your team? And what would you Be willing to give up to get to Shawn Watson is your quarterback. I'm going to take those calls. Drank enough this weekend to where I think I'm still somewhat desensitized to the emotions of taking those phone calls, so I would do it early because the alcohol may wear off after a little while. 55 to 1242 to seven. So we got the two games today. The two games yesterday and I guess my big takeaways from the two games yesterday. Is it won the first game Packers and Rams and there's gonna be a lot of quarterback takes in these games as there should be when you get down to the final eight teams. There's a story with every quarterback is there not You know to me on the A F C side of things, and this may be something that to Shawn Watson looks at and says This is why I want out Look at the four quarterbacks who are still left standing in the A F C prior to yesterday's games. Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Baker Mayfield In Patrick Mahomes. These were all guys drafted in 2017 or 2018. So the four remaining quarterbacks standing in the A F. C. BSC in which to Shawn Watson resides are all guys that were drafted within a year of him? And through no fault of his own. His team stinks. Now. He was really good this year. His team stinks back to those teams, though. So there's gonna be a lot of quarterback takes embedded in this. Let me start with the Packers and the Rams, actually, and I think just the reinforcement of one. What a difference A coach makes with Aaron Rodgers, the coach that he likes. It's not as though I think Matt Leflore came in with the Gary Kubiak Mike Shanahan system and Ah Ha! This is what unlocked Aaron Rodgers he needed to be in this system. Although don't don't get me wrong, Aaron Rodgers is a fantastic fit for what they like to do in that system. Right. Lot of bootlegs like throwing on the run, You know, for a guy who can throw from pretty much any arm angle from pretty much any direction in which his body is moving. He can deliver a rifle shot. Aaron Rodgers. Really good fit. I think more than anything else, just a head coach that he was in sync with that he he looked at, you can respect..

Then the Panthers turned it over five times in week 17. And last week it was the Bears. Team that seemed like it was more interested in getting in fights. Yeah, they played toe script there. They were happy to be on Nickelodeon. They look like a team that deserved to be on a silly network like that. Didn't watch the game on Nickelodeon. I'm 34 years 35 years old now watching Nickelodeon. You got the Packers doing the Super Bowl? You got the bills or Ravens. You have to have some big stones to pick the Rams. I would say. Like the bucks to win it all. I like the bucks more than the Chiefs. I like him more than the Saints. Like it more than the Packers. I like it more than the bills and Ravens. I like him more than the teams. They're just happy to be here. The Browns and Rams. That's my pick. Tom Brady 43 years old. Home home Super Bowl game. 43 years old. The defense has come on. That's my pick. What's yours? Who do you like? Don't shy away. Tell me a lot of places now. You don't have to call somebody. You probably have some nice, poetic prose. Really give you a nice, thoughtful breakdown of Brady against breeze by the way, breezes a Winning record all time against Brady. But I think too many things to many people. Are just You fixated on the head to head matchups between the two teams this year. How about the way the quarterbacks are playing right now? How about the way the two teams are playing right now? The Saints in bucks that to me is the de facto NFC championship game. The winner of that game goes to the Super Bowl. I like Tampa and I like their chances from there to win it all. It really fire up that pirate ship if they want a home Super Bowl, huh? Be something That's what I think's gonna happen a month from now we're not even a month from now. 855 to 1 to four CBS 855 to 1 to 4 to 27. Who are you picking to win the Super Bowl? So, for whatever reason I normally do not check that bump back is intently as I did, And there's Alvin with his cans around his neck, not over his ears, but around his neck and they're backwards, and I referenced it. And for some reason, you think that's the funniest thing ever, at least judging from your reactions through the glass. Why is that? I mean, I'm a funny guy generally. But why is that so funny? Well, it's a funny uh, well, the way you just said cool, dude, because we have been making fun of him for the way he wears his headphones. Like the way doctors where stethoscopes and we don't know why. I just asked him real quickly before I jumped on, I said, is that because your hair because I think I've asked him that before. It's not because of his hair. I think it's just like a style like this one Best up is here. But I think it's like a style thing. You know, like DJs will wear their headphones like on their shoulders like I'm working so hard to keep these damn headphones on in any way. Do you see how rich it is? That you're asking why somebody would do anything when it comes to style? You don't find that rich. I mean, I think my whole life is one Giant oxymoron so I can't stop to check myself. I just got to keep going. And when it comes to talking about Alvin wearing his headphones right that he does oxymoron. I don't know. I know what the moron part means. But I just think it's setting you up for that even back could have not been easy. But like why you're using words that you don't know. Do you know what that means? Oxymoron, given example of an oxymoron. Something that doesn't make sense compared to something else. Sort of. Kind of not really like jumbo shrimp, Jumbo shrimp? Yes. Um, and another thing that Alvin does. More than anyone, and it's because of the proximity to the camera as he has a real good feel for when it's on him, And he'll just glance up and just keep a dead straight face like he's zoo lander like he's making love to the camera, and he does it like on every single bump back. It's incredible. So the combination of you picking up on the headphones that he wears like a doctor, and then the make love to the camera. Look, it was just a great moment. All right. Thank you for sharing that that helps. Now I know why you think that's so funny because you've been talking about that for like, Yeah, That's me in the camera, Albie. It. The irony, though it's dripping with irony that Alvin would quote make a love to the camera. It took Alvin more than a decade to get anywhere near comfortable speaking into a microphone on air, So why would we think that he's quote making love to the camera? And.

Ah, lot of stuff to get to throughout the show Last week, I told you his last NFL power rankings. I lied to you apologize. We changed our minds. We pulled inaudible. Going a different direction. Final NFL power rankings of year later this hour. Joe Judges Mattias Hell and he's well, he's gonna take it cause he's a you know, giant, said, coach That's what they do. But he's still mad. Isela the disrespect So called directing his His organization's general proximity or so he believes will hit that. Probably this hour, Something finally happened. That I have literally been calling on since I became a radio host at CBS Sports Radio in 2000 and 17. Started that year when we're doing evenings, and that is for the legendary all time great as a player and the force as a supposed Front office guru. You go away. I'm sure you want to promote him up. Whatever you should celebrate Broncos fans, John Elway's no longer in charge of football operations. He will not be the decision maker that is a win. We will talk about why Elway failed. What it means. And it's reminder of one of the most important Fax. In sports. Why you don't combine love and business. That's why you don't hire legends. The deserve it love for someone like Elway blind that organization to his failures. In the front office. And, yes, I'm aware that they want to sue ball under his Under his, uh, tutelage. He was no more responsible for Peyton Manning's excellence and Magic Johnson is for LeBron, so we'll just get to it an hour. We don't talk any MBA. But if we do, we'll get to the Warriors in the Knicks, and how one of those teams is a legit fun story and the others probably an illusion. But it's still kind of fun buyer selling a bunch of other stuff so you don't want to start the show. And we'd love you to call in. If you want to give your perspective, we've got a handful of job openings. Around. The National Football League. And There aren't many of these, as you know, on the face of the earth, and we've got even more gentlemen who would like to be the head coaches of these various teams. So we're going to rank the job openings and go through some of the names and it's interesting when you look at the collection of talent, vying to be the head coach of the Jags, the Jets, the Texans, the Chargers, the Lions and the Falcons. And I'm first blush. Not all of those jobs, scream excellence and excellent opportunity, although beggars can't be choosers, and if you're an ambitious football coach, which is to say you're a football coach in the NFL level. You take the job you can get, but there are several names that are at a minimum. Minimum on the lips of the decision makers of several these franchises and maybe even further along. Some of them are coordinators. And there's a lot of coordinators who have multiple interviews scheduled this point. Top name on the list, and I said this yesterday. I'm not gonna do it for five minutes and I'll say it again. The top name on the list should be Eric the enemy. Offensive coordinator of the Chiefs. But the enemies Coaching tree from which he will emerge. The Andy Reid go gentry. Coaching tree that produced Doug Peterson. Eagle's head coach, She doesn't know how to respect the game, Joe Judge tells us We're just to win since Nick Foles left history tells us Matt Nagy came off that coaching tree. It just suggests there's no sure thing. There's no guarantee Eric, the enemy is going to be good at his job when he gets a head coaching job. Which means the same is true for every other guy on this list is true for Joe Brady, the Panthers all offensive coordinator. It's true for Brian Table. The Bills offensive coordinator whose story I read is really interesting because He could have come off that Patriots coaching tree in a real way. Had he not felt like he didn't get the respect in the opportunity he deserved. Underbelly, Jack. I like that kind of fire. Calls defensive coordinator the Niners.

"Rocket Mortgage Studios want to see your loan options, it just payments and closing costs online in real time. Rockets. Ken all calls I You know some other things mixed in his well, but when hit the phones heavy in the final hour of the program. Let's get to it. Just one second, just real fast. The Here's what happens tomorrow in the in the playoffs. FC Chiefs Bills Steelers all clinched win and they're in Ravens need the win. Then there in Cleveland win and they're in. Problem is they're playing the Steelers. It still is our playing their backup quarterback, Miami, Buffalo. Miami needs a win in there in we talked to. Ah Sal Cope, RCO carpaccio earlier. Covers the covers the bills and is on our station up there. W G. R 5 50 Sports radio. He says that he expects a lot of the backups to be playing, including Josh Allen's backup, Matt Barkley. Tennessee. They win. They win the F C South, and he needs a win and a Tennessee loss. So in these, the 1 10 1 team. That needs help. I need the win, and they need help. So that's the FC NFC. We know. The Green Bay Saint Seahawks all clinched the division wild card, The Bucks. Aaron. So these air wins and ends as well. Arizona at the Rams, the winner of that games in Winning in Chicago Green Bay. Chicago needs a win to be in or in Arizona loss so there and even if Arizona loses And then the of course the Giants in the Cowboys they play earlier, so the winner of that game, then will will now be at the mercy of the Eagles in the Washington football team in Philadelphia. And the football team is going to have Alex Smith back. But according to reports from Eagles, reporters here, don't expect Jalen hurts to play the whole game. You might see the third string Earth In the second half. Had some other starters that are being that won't be playing will be playing half games, so not a lot of urgency for the Eagles to play spoiler on Sunday night Football. So that's it in the NFC. No, it's just old. They're jockeying for position and everything else but a. You know A Let me say this and we'll go right to the phones. Really excellent job by the NFL. I know we like toe. We like to bash the NFL. When they do wrong or when they do something stupid or penalties or whatever. Sometimes they can't get out of their own way. Roger Goodell. But we liked it. We like to rip when we like the jab him. Give him credit for getting through this season game. Give him credit because we're in the final week of the season. There's been a couple times where it felt like they weren't going to get through it. And they were gonna have to extend the season. They were they were prepared to do that. But they got all the games in There was no cancelations or anything like that. They got it done. So congratulations to the NFL because with everything that's going on with 2020 and now 2021 They got the season done, and we are ready to finish up the season and wild card weekend will be next weekend 855 to 1 to four CBS 855 to 1 to 4 to 27. Let's take some phone calls on the NFL mark in Chicago Mark Go ahead. Happy New Year, Thanks for calling. Hey, John, Happy New York A two comments and then hang up the listen. One of the comments is I'm surprised that Josh Ellen is not garnering. I need attention from BP. All you hear is my homes and Rogers Yeah. And then my other common is if you take a look at the Paris schedule, they're not gonna win. Arizona's in tomorrow. Sister brands are not gonna be playing your starters. And then last thing he did mention your sleeper being Brady and Tampa Bay. But you're saying the homes and Casey is not playing up to expectations. I get it that they're not covering the spread. You're still playing awesome football. Yeah. Last week and and Mark. Thank you. Thank you last week against the Falcons, and and I listen, I get it. I get it. It's like when you're that good and you're coming off of a Super Bowl win. And you go 14 and one. They know that they're just waiting for the playoffs and a game like that, Even though it's a home against Atlanta, Atlanta Still playing very hard they are remorse has gotten that team to actually turn themselves around. Would be surprised if they actually hired him to be the head coach. I don't know that's the right move, but anyway Um, they got a team that was playing very hard. They won the game right like isn't that what's all about? They won the game. But here's why I'm picking. The Chiefs did not make the Super Bowl. If they go into a game thinking that up, you know we're going to go in. We know this isn't a regular season game we're gonna be. We're gonna be a game a game. Pat Mahomes everything else. That's fine. The bills. You're coming in with a different attitude right to build her coming in saying like people don't think we can win. People don't think that that we can beat the Chiefs. And they're playing like they have something to prove. The Chiefs are just one of, you know, one of the great teams in the NFL. So that to me like I thought you wouldn't want to be in the chief's position there 14 and one for crying out loud. They're great team. Man. There's something about the way that Bill's team is playing and to your point about Josh Allen. He is having a heck of a year for a guy that that came in the league and everybody knew he was a raw talent, but he was gonna have to refine his game. Man. How many? How many raw talents do you hear about coming in the NFL that never materialized to be anything? And he went from being like, all right, you know, good year last year, really Good year last year. Being mean he went from his completion percentage wasn't even a 59% last year. 20 touchdowns, nine interceptions. 3000 yards almost 70%. This year 34 touchdowns, just nine interceptions. That's what he does with his arm. What he does with his legs is impressive, too. He's a real weapon. So I agree with you. It feels like the whole M V P conversation is is a week to week thing, and now it's just settle on the homes and Aaron Rodgers and We'll see where it goes from there. This year. This year. Josh Allen has has, um 418 rushing yards. How many times in the touchdowns, Right? I mean, if your fantasy football player and you lucked out with, um With Aaron Rodgers is your eight rushing touchdowns. Sit 25 rushing touchdowns in three seasons. That's unbelievable. All right, let's go to carry in California. Carrie, you're on CBS Sports radio. How are you? Hello? Yes, Carrie, You're on the air. Hello?.

"Rocket mortgage studios when you need certainty in the home buying process with a loan that fits your life rocket can earlier this evening or actually yesterday evening after the Notre Dame Alabama game. I caught up with my friend from S and Y and Notre Dame expert. That's why New Yorkers should specify and being that is a national show. Um, Ayman McEnaney, who's the host of all the program's over there, and Geico Sports has been there for a while, but he played lacrosse at Notre Dame, Notre Dame alarm, obviously and huge Notre Dame in college football fans were there would be fun to have him on. After the game expecting a blowout, of course. And maybe we'd have a man going nuts but anyway, caught up with him. Had some follow them. Take a listen. We'll get back to calls in the side, obviously it by 5 to 1 to 4 to 27855212. For CBS. But right now, let's listen to me and a man McEnaney. My good buddy over us and why it's been a while since I've had a chance to have him on. And I don't even know if I've ever actually had a mom. But I want to talk some Notre Dame and no one better to talk some Notre Dame that my good buddy from S N y Ayman McEnaney, who is the biggest Notre Dame fan went to Notre Dame played lacrosse there and I want to have Mom winner lose. Will New. Unfortunate was gonna happen, But a man I want to get your perspective on this because I'm sure you're sick and tired of hearing from the outsiders. Their thoughts on Notre Dame, maybe being a fraudulent team to be in the playoffs and this and that first off your feeling after watching once again Notre Dame coming up short in a big bowl game. Yeah. I mean, he just said it was it was expected. I never thought we'd be able to keep up with this Alabama team. I thought our offense would be able to put up more than seven points I get, you know, Obviously, we got the back door cover. Which apparently Earth one John Jastremski because he said they didn't deserve to cover you. But you better guys need to explain that to me. You cover you don't know Now we have merits of covering. But anyway, uh I thought we'd be able to move the ball a little bit better than I think when we committed to the run. We did. I think the problem was, we just fell behind by too much and started throwing the ball around on. That's not our strength. But, you know That Alabama teen special when you have three guys who are in the top five voting of the Heisman Trophy award. You know how good they are on offense, so I knew we weren't gonna be able to shut them down. I think Nick's same and played nice today, slowing down the pace and running the ball after the game was pretty much salted away. But I was just disappointed in the passing attack or lack thereof for Notre Dame. I thought we'd be able to put some pressure on their defense and other than that one really long drive. We never really did. So I don't understand why Notre Dame doesn't try to get the ball to their wide receivers and space a little bit so they can actually do something after they catch it. But You know, they certainly don't have the wide receivers. Alabama does so once again, it's uh, you know, the same old same old with Notre Dame in a big game, so so going into has a little Going in. Yeah, well, I mean, that's that's okay. Well, you know how it is with Notre Dame. There's such a popular school. People either love him or love to hate them. And then they get themselves into college football playoff here in the Final four. For the second time, they've been non competitive. What is it now? Seven straight New year, Six bowl games that they have lost in and you know, I've been blown out in a bunch of them so that that's the problem. But Hey, man, why I know that people could talk about. Do you think this specific years Because Alabama is so good? Or is there an issue with Notre Dame being able to get the caliber of talent to compete with the S E? You know what the top teams in the sec? Well, right now we gotta do is look at signing day, the three best teams and recruiting of the three best teams every year. I mean, it's no accident. I mean, Alabama look too wide receivers to the NFL in the first round last year and rugs and Judy and their offense is better. Right? I mean, I mean, that's amazing, right? You know, no one knew Matt Jones. And now he might be a first day pick, right? I mean, they just turn out. You know, I'll drop a name on you. But when? Back in the day when I was calling games, I did an old Miss game and you freeze. Still the coach. He could look, Nick's David's the only guy who can actually threaten his starter with playing time because the backup is just as good. So I mean those three programs right now cross shit in recruiting and know her name's not recruiting at that level, yet Notre Dame's improved recruiting so that they keep knocking on the door. On and keep getting into these games. The schedule you know, this year played out this in fact that Trevor Laurence in playing the game at Notre Dame, But, um, you know, Notre Dame talent level of top 10. Unfortunately, there's a huge trouble. From 3 to 4. You know, I mean, look, everyone say someone else should have been in the game tonight that someone else would have in Texas saying, And we already lost the Alabama by 28. So Oklahoma people want the Oklahoman that came again. I mean, Oklahoma lost to Kansas State, So we'll see you all. What about what about Cincinnati and meet again? I'm not having my watching these games go based on record and making the argument for some of these other schools. And I'm not saying believe me. I mean, I'm all for I understand the S E C is gonna crush whoever they play, basically. But what about the people that say as you mentioned Texas A and M or Cincinnati? I mean, would those have been better options looking at not just looking at the result, but maybe giving them a chance as opposed to going to Notre Dame based on their pedigree? Well, I mean, Notre Dame didn't get in, based on its pedigree. Notre Dame guiding because if he Clemson in North Carolina, they had a top five win Any top 10 win or whatever North Carolina ended up being ranked Texas ain't and didn't have that second wind. Exercising and had a nice win over Florida that lost its value in Florida Lost. Ls you Ain't and doesn't have a second Goodwin and when they played a number one ranked team, they got their doors blown off. So even if you take a blind resume, even if you take Notre Dame off, and it's not Notre Dame that resume still gets in over Texas A and M. Cincinnati didn't beat anybody. Good. I mean their best one of the year was Tulsa and the American Athletic Conference championship game and also lost to the Mississippi State team. With a losing record. So I mean, Cincinnati doesn't have any great wins. I mean, you want to put Cincinnati and they're just have someone new. I don't think Cincinnati's given Alabama Ah, better game. You know who people want, You know, Cincinnati had undefeated regular season if they switched schedules that they have the same record. No, I mean, I guess..

"A good thing company from the Rocket mortgage studio when you want to see a loan options, just pavements and closing costs in real time. Rocket can again happy, Happy New year and let's just all speak it into existence and get this thing going in the right direction, which I believe we are And I certainly I always que optimistically anyway, That's just my nature. Nothing. I'm not a realist. I mean with things there. You know, it's just bring this problems. Of course. You know you can't ignore. Maybe that's the do anything but Absolutely believe that we're going to. We're going to get there. I mean, I know we're gonna get there, not believe we're absolutely gonna get there. And for all those who really had a trying 2020 Have a happy start. You know a safe start prosperous, start and inspiring Start than a unifying start for sure and adventurous, Start stable, start bright and creative and energetic and Inventive and resourceful and fantastic start to 2021. All right, we're gonna bounce around a bit here will do. Little college football makes it a little NFL to something that came out yesterday. But let's let you know what's going on, at least with Bama. Notre Dame. I mean, they didn't look good early and Who knows where this thing is going to go when it's all said and done so much football, But man Damn with first Notre Dame gets the ball first, a pun. Right. No threat. Boom! Bam! A first possession first, you know, serious. Seven plays 78 yards encompassing two minutes and 36 seconds. Touchdown, All right. And then Notre Dame gets the ball. Nothing happens. Poem Alabama gets it back. Five plays 97 yards started on the road three, obviously, two minutes and 11 seconds. Touchdown 14 nothing but what, at least has stabilized this and take it just I guess he's in the hotel room. He's out. Get ready for that Bronco game that I told you about. He's doing it for CBS. He says, a just aces There's gonna be another ass kicking Alabama does whatever they want. But that was right before this pretty impressive extended run by Notre Dame here, they're inside the 15. And they've chewed up. I don't have the exact amount of time I want to say at least seven minutes, maybe more. They've converted a couple of third and shorts. They're knocking on the door to the short red zone that you know they got this third and two Is a monstrous play here, man. I mean, if they get stuffed here You know, first let me let me first guess this right if they get stuffed here Brian Kelly. Better go for touchdown. You You do not try to try to have the field goal team. No way. 14 3 solves nothing, Boom and they got the first down anyway. I guess we'll never know what he would have done. You think he would have got God for you guys? There's stuff right there. You think he goes for it? It's I don't know It's a tough call. I mean, I'd want us. No, it's not. It's an easy call to tell Cole. I wanna say you get points on the board and trying to not get go empty out of this. No way. There's no way that Jane, that's James. Right. There's no way you get first of all, no guarantee that you're gonna get it. But even if you had, it would've been a chippy. Let's say you give it to him. 14 3 the way I just Chronicle Chronicle Obama's ability to move the ball That is. Let's see. Two minutes, two minutes. It's four minutes, four minutes and 37 seconds for two different Syriza encompassing 12 plays. And Hmm. Let's see it talking about 81 70 cheese. I mean, 187 yards in less than five minutes. They're gonna score another touch that you gotta get touchdowns. I don't know what he would have done. I hope he was going to go for it and we'll see we'll keep you in the loop on that. But Notre Dame now second and goal, all right. So I got a question for everybody. But I was thinking about this earlier today. Of the four coaches that are coaching, right, you know, move the two now in the two today tonight. How many of the 40 think will be coaching these schools in three years. You think? You run through the names. And of course you got that boat. Clemson Ryan Day with the Buckeyes got Brian Kelly with the Irish and he got the great Nick Saban with Alabama. Of the four coaches. How many do you think will be coaching these same schools in three years? Well, that you know that incorporates a lot there because you know this Brian Kelly ever get the itch to try to jump into the NFL. That may have expired. I can see him being a Notre Dame lifer. I really can. Now, 567 years ago, I felt differently. But if you tell me that Brian Kelly wants up coaching at Notre Dame for 30 years Would that stun you? It would not stunned me. I would probably bet on Brian Kelly more at this point being a Notre Dame life for then he's not gonna jumped another college. Um and I'm not so sure if he's You know if he's really intrigued by the NFL the way we thought he may have been a couple years back, I'm gonna say Kelly's there. So that's one out of one. Ryan Day with the Buckeyes, I think Ryan Day I think Brian Day eventually..
