Oluwatosin Olaseinde Africas Financial Literacy Queen Says Be Careful Who You Trust

"Fellow risk-takers. This is your worst podcast host Andrew Stanton. I'm here with featured guests tosin on the say in day tosin. Are you Menu Rock. Yes, I am ready to rock. Let's go. I know you are and I know because I see you rocking it every day on Instagram video. So I've been trying to get you on the show and I'm so happy to have you and let me introduce you to the audience tosin is a professional accountant with over ten years of experience spanning across accounting audit financial management and Taxation. She is the founder and CEO of money Africa and edtech platform that enhances financial literacy and Investments leveraging on technology person is a Washington Mandela fellow. She was a finalist at the future Awards in 2019. She was selected as one of the top 100 women by the leading. Ladies Africa. She was awarded one of the top eight Traders by CNBC Africa and 2012 and is a member of the golden key International. Honour Society post office. Spoken at tedx and It's featured on BBC UK Al jazeera's Guardian as well as others. And of course you can hear her and see her every day on many Africa on a gram but doesn't take a minute and fill any further tidbits about your life. So Monday Africa started as a passion project you just wanted to teach people about money that you got my first degree at age of twenty. And even that was an accountant. I struggled with my money. I was living from hand-to-mouth. So I wanted to change that for other people to didn't have to make the same mistakes. I did so after letting about right and district and speaks and wanted to speak to a Nigerian Market using the same language using the same examples things that you can relate to and that's what we did. So we have over 4,000 subscribers in our platform and we've reached over a hundred thousand people online and offline. I'm really excited about it. That is exciting. I'm curious when you started it. You probably had some Vision wage. But in reality things went a different direction, but we're successful. I'm curious. What did you think you were going to be doing with it versus what you are doing or or was it straight on target to be very honest. It wasn't really just the hobby. So I just opened an Instagram page and I just wanted to share my lessons with people right? I just turned Thirty and I was like gosh, you know, I made so much so many mistakes and when I was younger, I just wanted to teach people and I just said I'd posted and like wildfire 1000 followers then we so 5,000 followers. Then we saw $10,000 then then Instagram had only one that needs to be viewers. You couldn't do more than that, right? So they were like, oh totally what more we want more and then we said we go let's go and let's have horses were being as you know, let's have physical classes. So in all honesty, I did not see any growth this way. It really just happened the markets responded positively and they were responding to them as well and just collect get creating products for them. You know, I I can totally picture that wage. Cuz I mean here I am in little old Bangkok and I really know nothing about Nigeria and certainly about the Nigeria Market. Although I'm learning a lot these days as I was talking about with you before but but I can say is that when I saw you on the video it just you know, it makes you just want to stand up and cheer because you know, you bring so much energy so much passion to what you're doing and you know, sometimes you know, you're just talking about Bank earnings, but you know, you still bring that energy and passion to it. And so I always try to make a comment like whoa. Yes awesome. So I imagine that it's growing because I think you do have a lot of passion and I think you share that with the audience. So that's also one of the reasons why I wanted to get you on the show to share some of that passion with my audience. ATT I'm very excited to be here. Yeah. Well, so let's get started. Well now it's time to show your worst investment ever and since no one ever goes into their worst investment thinking it will be home. Tell us a bit about the circumstances leading up to it and then tell us your story a fantastic. So this was in 2017 and at this time of the year off, right the Bitcoin was gaining so much momentum at the beginning of the year was like $2,000 and it was $3,000 and it kept growing now remember I'm straight account and I only I know about basic things and I know the stock market and all this other thing but click on just sounded very futuristic. It's not a very abstract. I just don't understand it now. He's a friend and he always tells me about his really oh I made so much money this I did that I did that. I wanted a piece of the pie right? So what I was accustomed to I a mutual funds or stocks, I think know I got a job. I do understand it. So I was living on my friends knowledge, right it kept telling me about all his wings and then in the midst of it all it went from two thousand to five thousand. I remember when it hits $10,000 and I can't wait anymore. I need to get it. So I reached out to him and I said listen, I want into some of those pie and was like definitely that's not a problem we can get you in now at this point, but Bitcoin now was about $18,000 way about so I handed over a large sum of money Andrew huge sum of money to this person to help me investigate cause I thoughts because I was so futuristics. I can understand it. I wouldn't know how to navigate it and I needed to actually speak to this person that actually knows how to go about it. And

Standing Rock With Cody Two Bears

"So I'm really looking forward to today's guest cody to bears. For as long as anyone can remember, America has been trying to come to terms with questions of race and equality. Much of our focus has been on the African American community and for good reason. However far too often overlooked and forgotten are the people whose ancestors inhabited this majestic land for generations before the first white man set foot on the continent. Today I am talking with my friend, cody to bears and the Standing Rock Sioux. Cody has been at the center of his people's battle against the Dakota pipeline which served their sacred land. So here today, and then there's my pleasure to have cody to bear and to talk his people and share his story. To Cody. Welcome. Thank you so much for being here. Thank you Erin it's it's a pleasure to be a part of your show. Very excited about this discussion and also thinking me also like to thank you for a lot of the work that you have done in year history in your past of protecting water rates in this country in the world it just to bring up a the voice of the voiceless for them to stand up for what's right is very, very important than it falls right in line with their native American heritage and traditions and customs that we still follow today. Well it's it's been my privilege and to have an understanding of. which so much of a cause possibly forgotten about or moved away from or for many reasons thought it was being in fact, protected our land, our water and it hasn't. And so can you give the listeners background please and tell us about your people and and everything that has been happening with you up at standing rock. Yeah. So just to let you know I'm still very young man I'm still thirty five years old of course but. Yeah I've I've learned a lot along the way at the same time I got the privilege and honor to be able to. Serve my people from. Twenty down twenty thirteen to twenty seven in the Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Council So as one of the youngest elected leaders are standing rock, Sioux travel history at that time. So I got to serve four years from community in the crazy part of that whole situation is that. In two, thousand, thirteen, my first year in office we got. President Barack Obama to come standing rock in my community to in cannonball, which were encampments the protests all went down at the northern border of our reservation boundaries. That's the community that I represented for years for my tribe and now what a coincidence off fast forward two years later. Brock Obama had to make a tough decision to try to protect. Our water in our rights and Bustan for indigenous issues while he came previously two years ago to our lands and promised us that he would do what he can to help our people. So what a coincidence that now four years that we definitely hadn't standing rock during that time Since then I've been out of politics outside of twenty seventeen I told myself you know. Like to protest about it, talk about it the environment but you know it's time to start to be about it, and so that's why I started my own initiative on my own nonprofit called indigenised energy, which currently now we have the largest solar farm on standing rock three miles away from the pipeline crossing in north. Dakota which is the largest solar farm in North Dakota to date. So we'd we did remarkable things two years after the pipeline and now the protests. So we're doing what we can try to live by that and. Keep pushing to go hundred percent renewable within reservation boundaries

It's an NBC universal it launched earlier this year and I rather like it. It has lots of shows from NBC both new and old classics from the Universal Library from old chose like Columbo and murder. She wrote two movies that the Great Alfred Hitchcock made for the film studio. Peacock is the most recent of the new major streaming services to launch this year and many folks wonder if it will go the way of Qube, the ill-fated Streamer, which just announced that it would be shutting down by the end of the year. In an odd call with analyst recently, the CEO of NBC Universal Jeff Schell talked up peacock and said, it was the opposite of qube in netted has quote stuff people WanNa. Watch unquote and what is that specifically? Well, a little bit of everything shell mentioned premier league soccer NBC News programming shows that aired and other places before like yellowstone and Mr Mercedes along with reruns of thirty rock in the law and order series. Now, that's the good news the bad news for Shell. You can't watch peacock on the nation's number two streaming platforms Amazon prime video. It is available on Apple TV and Roku.

Vansilli talks about CS and trying out Diabolical

"Our next guest on the centering East sports podcasts has been involved with the scene for a very long time before it was even called E. Sports, believe it or not please welcome to the show van. Silly guys. Thank you so much for having me. It's going great in some kicked in for the past two days. So I'm like a little bit groggy here and there, but still super excited to be part of the show. Thank you so much for having me. You've been. Go ahead tell us about I mean he you've been pretty busy. It's okay to be a little. For sure for I. Think I think as we're GONNA talk about him I'm I'm assuming very soon is. Valerie Valerie has been keeping myself busy, not only just trying to follow the scene, but just trying to rank up as well because I I feel like to this day even though I've been in the scene for such a long time for sports, you still have to prove yourself to the community so I don't want people to go like, oh should caster kick w what a bad castor you know so I I need to bring myself up to the diamond platform at least and then hopefully immortal at some point. It's cool that you mentioned that I wanNA actually touch on that for a second say. been casting for a long time right? Not since what two thousand and three? Thousand two, thousand and three. It was my first ever event I started really dippy my toes into it in two thousand and two with quake three urban terror. So we're we're going way back at that point you know. So we tim and I both played quake three. Urban terrorists. Okay. Okay. What what is urban terror I in another interview you? Yes. So it could actually it was the the MoD for quake three actually helped me transition over to counteracting duty one when those came out because urban terror was kind of like. A similar version of action quake with you guys played quake. quake. But if not, you could compare counterstrike with with some bunny hopping, including stamina and sliding. So it was a lot of. You had to buy weapons. So they were they were actually Actually, had to choose weapons instead of buying. So you're allowed to choose for example, let's say you go end for each one of them had little perks, and if you chose certain perks than it would nullify getting certain type of equipment, she could banish your teammates by budget holding caps lock, and then the the they're able to go off way but the damage internal organs shot in the leg or no body or head has that type of damage. So it has that type of hit. Boxes. So you really have to be good and in terms of aiming for the head to to make sure that you kill Vassar but the the same style is still very counterstrike he where it's like a five five or six six but you bunny hop across the map and plant bombs on onto different sites, and of course, the opponents have to defuse or you have just a regular team survivor. So it's just like within a timer, you have to kill everybody at a certain point. Survivor played coming from that arena shooter world. ANY INTERESTING DIABOLICAL I've been playing diabolical with like the first Beta came out I love it I'm I'm really not good at it. Actually I'm good with the I'm with the the what they call the rocket launcher I forgot what the they have different course but the one that's like the rail gun holy crap. I'm not good with a really be more like when I play to increase I was all about rails but now I just can't hit anything I. Think I got that boom that funny hit me but. The boomer foul yeah one hundred percent I still I still love watching fatality play I still love watching lex play and de can play as well and of course, they're screaming a lot and you see a couple of local tournaments or smaller tournaments with like a Dang and all them playing him to just to be able to see like PS PSB arena ps instead of being quick champions what they tried to do I'm just happy to see a different style or that style comeback with diabolical to what quarter cle the routes used to be for for quick. Do you think the arena shooter will ever come back in a big way. With diabolical I think it will to be honest like because when when you when you used to launch a for example painkiller or quake three, CPA, it was all about how fast people are moving around the map in how good they were in terms of aiming but also predicting where your opponents going to be because you have to control the rail, you had to control the Rock and you have to control the items. There's so much mental timing that goes into playing a repeat that people don't really understand the the whole concept around good you have to be to be top. Notch in arena ps but as a simple spectator, it's so much easier to follow. Because now you know it's a one vs one. You know who you're following your when you're looking at the screen and you know basically the concept of He needs to pick up weapons he needs to the other guy you look at the HP, you look Winter GonNa, pick up armor, and then you know that there's going to be like the whole time or kind of thing what I like about diabolical in the dual into dual range in what the ad is the i? Think it's called Golden Kill or The last kill. Agar's should have something. You have to basically within a ten minute timer. If you're actually destroying the guy that tarmac goes down a little bit faster, and then once it gets to that timer, the wouldn't lead still has to do one more kill to secure the win. So there's still a chance for the second person to to make a comeback into the game and hopefully win a sudden death overtime or something, which is great because back then again, when looking quake three and you're looking at. Painkiller it's like if the guys by five enters two minutes, left users hiding for the rest of the map and he's just GonNa win by time. Even with quake champions just with this last quake con championship like the forget the guys who were in the finals like the guy was up by eight kills and it was like. Yeah. Exactly. It's super boring. So I think that adds a nice concept and a good little changed uranium ps where I think I think I could actually get pretty big I. Mean you have some big names that are still support and behind it like I said like Didi keys in there and and I'm a digi wheat lows playing it similar it from time to time and he has like it i. mean it's it's produced by good studios and two good has been very, very, very much involved with with sports in his in his days. and His career as well. So I think I think they have the right people to try to push into the next level.

Interview with Kenny Harper & Manny Torres of Rock My Image

"Manny and Kenny Hello Welcome to the digital marketer podcast. So excited to have you both here. Glad to be here. Excited this is going to be awesome in epic. Awesome Ethic I love it. Can we it do names and voices just people are listening know exactly who's speaking when so introduce yourselves and people now? My name is Kenny Harper and this is my voice. So if you hear me talking, this is Kenny. Harper. Very literal I loved it. Says many tourists and this is my voice and I'm Jenna. This is my voice but y'all know me it won't change. So Amplify Your Business Rock my image. I WanNa talk out where Y'all started your entrepreneurial journey, how you learn about all this marketing stuff and just what led you to this point today. So where were you born? Just kidding I'll give you the fun story. I was born in Virginia, Beach But raised in Louisville Kentucky. In found my first passionate about fourteen years old I went to a metallica concert. I was in the snake pit and I was blown away by the huge performance, the flashing lights, the booming Bass and I knew I'd found my calling in. So I started to play in bands start to learn how to record them. We're doing shows wherever all this fun but you know what I had a passion, but it didn't have the knowledge about running a successful. Business and there's a lot of starving artists out there for a reason right and they have passion they know they love to do and they're good at it. But if they don't know the business side of things, then they're going to run into some challenges. Luckily, I was able to find a way to use my creativity in a different light in marketing. So went to school graduated and then became a student of the craft of business growth and development. In profit growth in particular along the way. I became a freelance web designer. Met My business partner Mr Manny. Torres, we formed a an agency and really started to do a lot of small business marketing. What we started to see is that some of the clients that we are marketing were growing, they're amplifying, they were scaling they're opening new locations. We're just seeing all sorts of success in a few and some of the clients that we're marketing. or saying, Hey, it's marketing isn't working and. We looking at and saying, Hey, we're doing the same thing we're giving you leads. These aren't good leads really. Is it the leads in what we really found out is that? Unless. You have a holistic approach and you have the other components of your business. synergistically, working marking may not be the answer. You really need to have a good sales process a good team, good operations you need to have all that in place, and so that's where the concept of growth amplifiers all came about, which is our podcast growth amplifiers, and that's where we're at today we were with business owners and entrepreneurs who are looking to increase their profitability. Through Proven Systems Ineffective Strategies with guidance and accountability. So that's all the way from Kentucky. To present day in being able to step in really understanding the concept behind taking that rock concept that everyone plays their own instrument. Everyone has their own unique gifts but when you can really tune in and produce that amplify it, that's how things can really be a magical. So that's back story that I have in. Make you for letting me share it. Yeah of course well. I definitely wanted to talk about some of the the interesting tidbits of like your time in rock and music and producing music and stuff like that and how it airs together. So well with marketing but I also WanNa hear I many a little bit of your story and like where you came in where you add metallica concert and may be missed each other that first time. Radically. Even though my family has a ton of musical talent in its history, I've never played any instruments but my unique talent has always been drawing and being creative and on high school I came across the fact that you can actually be a graphic designer as like, wow, I didn't know I could actually do a job with this talent assault went. To, school design in at NC state north, Carolina State, and that's where I started my graphic design career and one things I noticed at being a designer that made me different from other designers is that I didn't just create something that was visually appealing but always thought about what's the bigger picture was the strategy behind it and so when had moved Jacksonville? Design Printing Company. And I was looking for someone to partner with I was introduced to Kenny and that's one of the things that really brought a lot of synergy together was that we both thought about the big picture what's the strategy behind what we're doing what's our ultimate goal, and then how can we really leverage? What makes the client the rock star in the talent a so? that. There was a lot of synergy there when we both went to do more things because we both are all about personal development and growth we said, how can we take our business to another level and Kinney at the time had a cool thing that was rocked my facebook and I really love that branding and when we were talking about what the name of the business should be. He said, what do you think about rock by image Bam? That's awesome.

I also want to ensure the public that we are out here 24 7, and that public safety is our number one priority. We hear you and we share in your frustration. What we saw yesterday throughout our city, but particulary in the area of Castor Inara Mingo. I had absolutely nothing to do with protests. The widespread lawlessness, including the burglary and looting of area businesses served. No purpose is whatsoever. These individuals are doing nothing but simply wasting our precious resource is let me be perfectly clear. This behavior is not acceptable under any circumstance, nor will it ever be tolerating regarding the civil unrest. While we have already made a number of arrests on scene are investigators are still working diligently around the clock to ensure that there will be many more in store. At this point, we're able to present the following updates. There have been 23 injured officers. Injuries include various cuts and bruises, etcetera these air from throwing projectiles, rocks, bricks, etcetera. Several officers also had something that appeared to be blood intentionally thrown on them. Unfortunately, all 23 have been treated and released. As it relates to looting investigations. We have 297 reported incidents. As to damage and vandalized vehicles. There were nine Yesterday. There were 81 arrests that were made citywide during the civil unrest. The breakdowns are as follows. For burglary 53. Eight arrests for assault on police One arrest for aggravated assault. Four arrests for robbery. One arrest for arson. Two arrests for criminal trespass one for vandalism, seven for disorderly conduct. And four CBN's were issued for failure to disperse. I'd like now like to turn it over to First Deputy Commissioner Melvin Singleton will give a timeline of yesterday's events. Good afternoon, all So starting at approximately 6 P.m. in the area of 5200. Times Street, we had approximately 1000 protesters form up in Malcolm X Park. That group What westbound on Pine Street towards the district, which is at 50 50 Pine Pine Street. Eventually. Well, this particular protest the group split up. Form back up again and marched around the area of Southwest Food off your between Market Street and Pine Street. It eventually devolved into brick throwing to the commissioner. She mentioned blood throwing Out there with several officers being hurt. Some vehicle was set on fire on again. We had to make numerous arrests simultaneously occurring Wass. A looting. Burglary taken to place with approximately 1000 people estimated at Castor are amigo. We had set up in the city, roving looting patrols as well. A static patrols in the area and this particular location of Castor there there. Amigo also had that coverage. However, 1000 protesters was Not expected. I'm sorry. 1000. Looters were not expected. We had zero information toe warn us of this and it required us to Put ourselves into a priority calls the service configuration in terms of radio calls. The free officers tto handle, particularly and specifically ballooning going on at Castor in there, amigo. Just take some time. However, together those resource is city wide. We gathered. The resource is it got the necessary amount of officers to that location, But by that time several stores have been looted and damage was done. And East Division particularly we made 22 arrests. We had In that area. Two officers assaulted as well as two vehicles vandalized during that time. But to be clear this mission's point we are continuing to on will always move towards and affect the rest of looters and burglars when their car In this particular situation. A potential bureaucratic dispute could slow down the birth of 5G internet

"The US needs a five G. Network that much everyone agrees on. This is the network that would allow things like fully self-driving cars Internet. That's a hundred times faster. But it turns out. There are a couple big questions not fully resolved in Washington I who should build and operate parts of this network and second who's responsible for giving up the airwaves that it would run on. We point this out because the FCC's looking at auctioning off some of the government owned electromagnetic spectrum. So companies can use it for five G. and at the same time. The Department of Defense is looking at leasing out some of that same spectrum. So I asked Craig Moffett analysts for telecom and media research for Muffin Nathanson. Who is in charge here? That's the sixty four thousand dollar question. Historically, the FCC has always been in charge of spectrum at least for commercial purposes. What's been proposed here is unusual in that the Department of Defense is suggesting something that is a bit of a hybrid, build their own network that they would then make available through some mechanism to commercial carriers, and that starts to crossover fairly clearly into the commercial sphere. Will this all sounds frankly dysfunctional. You have two major government agencies not on the same page over how to govern a piece of technological real estate. What are the consequences of this situation yet look dysfunctional doesn't begin to capture. It seemed fairly clear that the dod didn't know what the FCC was doing that the FCC. Didn't know what the DOD was doing and that parts of the dod didn't know what other parts of the Dod we're doing. Dysfunctional. Is being polite. It is a mess. There is this on again off again conversation over whether the US needs a national five G. Network run by the government or a private sector driven network, which is where we've been going how does this dispute over spectrum and you know who can Lisa rock it out fit into that conversation? Well I it's very much part and parcel of the same discussion. The idea that we should have a nationally coordinated response rather than a commercially driven response. I reared its head in the beginning of twenty eighteen and it was soundly repudiated by everybody in in government within a matter of days after it went public and it went underground and then came back again and then it was repudiated by everybody and went underground. And came back again and it keeps coming back. It's sort of this Zombie that can't be killed. This country has committed. I think fairly clearly since one, thousand, nine, hundred, four, and the break-up of the bell system that we're going to pursue a private enterprise approach to telecom rather than a government regulated monopoly approach, and you can see a tremendous amount of tension ideologically among different parts of the government about whether that's appropriate. Is there any merit to the idea of a national five G. Network just because? It just sounds maybe more efficient than having a bunch of private companies build their own separate versions. Yeah. There are two arguments here. The the first one is time to market and at its very core, the motivation for government intervention and the motivation of certain participants and names that have been attached to this concept like Eric. Schmidt, the former chairman and CEO of Google, for example, is this belief that the US is moving too slowly and that China is taking the lead and that has two consequences. One that there will be a more robust equipment ecosystem were or supply chain. That evolves around the Chinese five G. Network, and therefore, there will be critical infrastructure that we simply can't produce in the Western Hemisphere. So so that's part one part two is this view that if we don't move fast enough, then China will start to develop the economic ecosystem that rides on top of five G., all the applications that will emerge that we can imagine yet but out of four g came companies like Uber and facebook arguably really grew into what it is today because of four g and so so all the innovation that comes on top of a platform like this. is feared to becoming too slowly because the US may fall behind China in developing our five G. Network. That's separate and apart from the question of just is it economically sensible to have three or potentially four different companies building five G. networks instead of having one national platform that then everybody shares or at least chairs some part of and buys capacity from. So let's say that this conflict between UFC indeed doesn't resolve and this big midsection of spectrum disease just stays locked up, is it still going to be possible for you know verizon or whoever to buy five g service to all of us? The short answer is, yes. There are other solutions besides this particular block of spectrum. So. Most of the world, it started down the path of mid band spectrum before the US. The US started with a very much a focus on very very high frequency spectrum and his head to course correct perhaps later than than one would have liked but they have they have now if not fully caught up at least closed the gap to some degree, and there is a very large auction of mid band spectrum coming in December called the c-band auction that the carriers have been planning around for at least two years and and by all accounts. Is Spectrum very similar to the spectrum that the DOD would theoretically be using and and there's quite a bit of it. So I think right now that you would have to say that the carriers view see band as the

"Now we're going to have the attorney on for kid rock's bar so barely kid rock licenses the name I would think because he's not the owner I mean they got this guy speaking as the owner I'm nothing wrong with that but Steve Smith is the owner and so I would tell Steve is listening and anybody else who runs new keys that that got cited a Broadway brewhouse or moxie Nashville or rock and roll steak house in the other ones I would say you want to stage a protest every night at your bar call to protest where protest thing the heavy hand of the metro health reform were protesting the mayor's tax increase reproach that whatever you're prone but just called to protest and by their own definition there's nothing they can do to you hello Sir we are selling beer some said we can't sell beer to protest we got a beer license and then they'll try to take it that that completely when shut you down there needs to be an absolute revolt against these folks but see what's gonna happen is you take four or five of these folks and you make an example of them which is exactly what they say they're gonna do and they held the nobody else comes I'm not telling you how to run your business but I would just say screw these folks if I were every business in downtown Nashville then what you wanna do close down all the businesses take away all the beer licenses lows the thing down we need to have some big money in here some big money that can help sustain these businesses that they do have to weather the storm and have a beer license taken away from them by the beer board because the health department's a bunch of freakin **** because they're selectively deciding who they're going to take it and who they're not we've got ten thousand people downtown we're all watching this and by the way we had a riot down down to and they weren't even citing any of those folks but we had that was just one March was ten thousand we've had several marches downtown we've had these idiots over there that have been camping out at legislative plaza and nobody citing them for anything but you go into new these honky tonk and you're not wearing a mask or they have too many people in I don't even know what they were cited for but it was some sort of violation against the what the folks who run the city violating health guidelines I guess it too many folks in this room I was wearing a mask and so they cite them Ford and I'm telling you just called a protest and then then then sue the hell out of them when they will let you have a lawful protest like they did the other folks the other folks for protest thing you can ever protest every night and nobody's honky tonk even ever protest every night every bar in Nashville it could be one big protest against the mayor against the overbearing health department against the rest of these folks let me tell you some we are finding out a lot about this coronavirus stuff that we've been lied to so how long ago were these where these protests down there I think by now we would see an epidemic wooden wing if you can really get this coronavirus that easily like they've been telling us that ten thousand people packed in weir's the spike or really haven't seen one we really haven't seen one I don't know that we are going to see one so putting it as spike from ten thousand people crammed in together like sardines on the streets in Nashville I don't think we're going to see a spike and here's the other thing to everybody who went to the protest went willfully nobody forced them to go they knew the risks they know there's an epidemic going on they can choose to wear masculine choose to stay home with the same thing goes for new these honky tonk for crying out loud you know the risk you can decide whether you want to go take the risk or not we don't need the nanny state shutting your **** businesses down so that you can't take the risk what what else we can help you begin figure we're gonna stop bungee jumping right we all I tell you one thing we need to stop the war to stop the risk is rock climbing yeah these people work or or that are climbing these mountains they're dying they're dropping like flies man we're going to protect them from themselves you know I'm being facetious you should be able to climb a mountain of you want to and if you fall off the side of the mountain whose fault is it well it's yours but you knew the risk going in so you take the risk people go boating they go water skiing they go skydiving they go rocky mountain climbing they do all of it and they take the risk themselves but for some reason you can't take the risk to go have a flip and beer at new these honky tonk explain that one to me so we're going to close down the result you don't because it's a health risk we're going to make an example of these folks I'm telling the resting you people downtown this is what they're going to continue to do for as long as they get away with doing it and you need to band together and stop it you do not need the let the health department run rough shod over here like this this is ridiculous Hey look you got mayor chicken coop was the one who started all this stuff with the protests that turned into a riot for crying out loud I remember that night very well I mean I had to go I had to do you you make me have to go on the radio I got called up I'm like a doctor I'm on call you know have microphone will talk so I got called up that night that that big to co host the thing with Brian Wilson we were we were covering the riots that were the extension of the mayor having a rally which was stupid because we've seen this several days before across the entire country every time we had a rally night felt it turned into a riot so we're going what we dodged a bullet in Nashville we haven't had a rally and then so the mayor said Wegner rally will let me start one which then ends up being a ride I can't believe the dude still in the mayor's office I can't believe you didn't resign after that but then you got well if you got us if you go to city council that's going to vote eighty percent for a thirty four percent on a thirty two percent to thirty four percent property tax increase you've got a city that's run by a bunch of idiots let me tell you something else to there was a councilman who I will not name because I wanted to get him on the day but he doesn't want to come home and my siblings are in anything wrong with that either he's been bombarded but he actually offered up a resolution to condemn antifa and the riots and the end and then got the screen death and shouted down so when you folks are they say Phil you don't differentiate between black lives matter protesters in the riders because there's not a difference they're the same folks look at the council here's a guy who wants to differentiate between the two he wants to say okay we got peaceful protesters but then we got the rioters and we need to say that's wrong and they scream at him like he's a racist it's just this is I mean I don't know how we got here I really don't know how we got it I know I've known for a long time that Nashville was run by a bunch of lives what I did know was this band but I don't live in mainstream I got properties until just so my property tax right probably going to go up thirty four percent or whatever it's just ridiculous to allow this to happen to people just stand by and do and you had a mayor there when I'm going to be his whole thing was he was gonna be a fiscal conservative member that he's.

Pardon me I'm GonNa ask you a question. This is a question I wanted to ask you at the Rock Bar. However I couldn't get close enough to Kinda my way I'd ask you a question that's Somewhat related to the past but also delves into present day I've been a fan of wrestling watching wrestling since the sixties grew up here in the bay area. Ray Stevens was the big man out. Here in the sixties and seventies generally throughout the decades. And I generally would regard if I were to look at the workers of each particular decade. I would suggest that Ray. Stevens what the worker the Sixties Jack Brisco of the seventies rick flair of the Eighties Shawn Michaels of the nineties. What I'd like to ask you is who in your opinion would be considered the premier worker of the decade of the two thousand and going forward into this decade. Who Do you see as a front runner or a good chance of being regarded as top worker of this decade? Thank you welcome. I don't know exactly what you're you're talking about Enron. Your your list is good As far as just the there guys that Probably drew more money or as much money as individuals. You mentioned I. I would have guessed that you're basing your criteria on Build a bill ring skills is what I'm assuming as by now it'd be granted you know To thousands I don't know I don't know who who there's a lot of guys that could be in the two thousand you know Enforcing Austin got banged up or you know just money then you gotta the Human List. Probably two thousand before he got all banged up. Is Kurt Angle? Been hard to beat. You know and I don't know that the I think the jury is still out on the two thousand ten plus two thousand ten forward. I have to really give it some thought on the world's worst giving somebody lists what's your favorite match. Who's your favorite baby face What what WHO's your I? I'm really bad at that because I contradict myself almost daily mood and all that I worked on a book and Mike My Writing Partner wants me to you know do. What's your top ten favorite matches and I? I don't know that I'm even going to be able to do that. Because it's just It's like saying what's your favorite kid. You know you've got children. So what's your favorite child? How how would you answer that? What's the favorite meal? What are the top ten meals you ever ate? You know you've had a lot of good meals sir. Well it depends on your mood. What was the atmosphere in? Your memory would be different all the time. Yeah absolutely I like your list Ray and Jack but you know there's there's a lot of arguments can be made a fuck it. I like the Jack Brisco. Pick quite frankly You know the in the sixties You know there's every guys would argue in the sixties you. It was a a better hand but I. I know from talking to the to the talents. That Ray Stevens is regarded as one of the best ever Shawn Michaels I. You know if you said Shawn Michaels in the nineties I have Shawn Michaels at the top of my list of all time guys Flair in the eighties can argue that one. Unless you go with Hogan and if I just WanNa work and skillset then obviously flair is going to be Hogan. If you go on money it's going to be flair. Are Notoriety are putting the business in a map for there's so many criteria it's hard to ever. What is the right answer? You know I it is a really right answer and and I think for those of us that love the business. That's not even that's not a bad thing because it can. I know from my shows that I do and we'll get into all kinds of discussions and these Q. And as we do because I don't ban any questions or censor anybody You really a lot of times. Those favorites come our original favor. Certain regionality has a lot to do with. Somebody just fell in love with all. This is if you talk to wait somebody from the AWA. 'cause that's where. He grew up his influences from from Awa as a kid. You made a change since he's gotten older. But I guarantee you there's discussion be. He got into discussion. The AWA would have representation and it should so. I don't know if I got answers for you and that I'm trying to give you some background and not blow your question. Offer disrespect too. But I'd have to sit down and look at it and it's still. I don't know if I'm smart enough to figure it out tomorrow. May Have a different mindset. Aloha torch fateful. They need a bunch of strangers. They don't know what you're really shitty. And then one sex worker gets infected. She turns into Demon. She promptly infects Lonzo other people they discover. The time is up. Time is up. I should've said elevator. Dental better pitches a producer sir. You could've just said a bunch of an auditorium become demons and they have to get out boom done and there's a helicopter. This is true but I'd like to go into details. I mean we didn't talk about the guy on the motorcycle with the sword. We didn't talk about coke off a punk. Mommy and daddy are fighting right now. They're not mad at you secretly. They hate each other and we do really please. It's for the children right. Hey we stick together form right right off the bat. I'm going to have to ask a question. Okay we have the main there is sort of a main cast. We've got up on the page of my notes. I'm fired it's not like I don't have fifty pages of notes all the movies. I'm doing this week but my complaining. No not at all. We have blob one movie. We have Cheryl Cathy Right at T.. How many bets? That Kathy secretly in love with Cheryl anyone I get a weird sexual vibe live from. Sheryl so because she she turns down every single romantic turn that what's his face. Thursday her skip class but Cheryl wants to skip class. And the army but Cheryl wants to see a harvey I think. She secretly in love with Cheryl. And that is your LGBT. Twist for this movie okay. I mean Joe. I'm surprised on more on board with this year. Usually comes up with these one hundred percent on board with it I think my my big thing is that nobody else has any chemistry so my like my radar was very badly thrown off by this phone now. Is that. The actress falters at the dubbing fault Lord. I think it's the dubbing that always adds a certain kind of detachment Wasn't even though the W and this is quite good you could tell it the actors were mostly working in English And and I got up later but that's neither here nor there. So yeah what I love about. This movie is that even before anything happens. Everybody feels creepy Yeah everybody you meet. Net Theater feels really pretty goddamn creepy. That blind dude and that girl. What's going on with them? I don't is it his daughter. It's meant to be daughter. Yeah you serious. Oh I thought it was just like I mean I thought it was just like hired. Help like an escort right right his interpreter at the movies. Yeah no that yes that. Well this is back in the time before you know. These theaters had this ultra sophisticated. Sound system where you could actually plugging if you were a blind person back then you just Liz version. One Point Zero But you know would they do. Have they have the dolby system which is credited in this movie one of the characters they do have the dolby or do they keep the referencing. It might not be after we don't know so what's going on here so all these people are invited to a world premiere sneak preview of some movie. They don't have the title at the Metropol Theater title. eiter there's no title Carter. Nothing nothing I think. All those people in the move you're dead. I really happened but precision and who made that movie. Who made it? Who are those people? But what I think is called noticing this time like you're seeing the architecture Berlin during in the opening credits you know because you have Cheryl on the subway and it's the cool music and stuff and when you first see the Metropole on the block it's all new architecture neon neon neon big gigantic dark gothic monstrosity. That doesn't belong there I love that. That's great sense of unease right from the beginning it's very imposing and I was trying to be all smart and I'm like she's holding a copy of microcosms cheek. Music underhand is prominently featured. See I was thinking about that. I was paying attention to the score. Yeah because it's samples appeared in the mountain king and I was very happy with that because I learned that piece of music. Yeah Yeah Yeah. I love the score in this movie. And even the The music that they chose for at the rock music for the most part is dead on. Yeah we'll get into some when it's not but yeah. I definitely have my favorites like musical musical moment of the film that's paired with what's happening on screen and we'll get to that later. Okay that'll be. That'll be our exit comment every pick your favorite music moment. So we're meeting always random people people at the movie theater and I I had the pleasure of meeting. I don't even know how to pronounce name. Dorada Dorada shirt who played rosemary. The mask on yeah she came to a screening of it at the Rock Bar. Three months ago lovely woman has an aged of course Why trace no reason what Joe was saying before like he was saying? There's a lot of negative commentary about this movie because there's the plot doesn't make sense okay. Mike of Character I. It's so interesting to me because it's so this is a five out of five. I Adore this movie But I don't like Italian horror cinema in a month. Not One of one thing. I gravitate towards beneath either. Yeah and but this movie is very straightforward. And what it's trying to do there's no meandering narratives like no weird sub plaza closet. Don't matter it's just people demons carnage nothing else and wastes. No time really gets into it. Yeah because pretty the movie and start in the movie. Actually I think the movie looks great. does that poor girl got stabbed for like seventy five minutes in two bloody of a movie. She's my favorite. They're on their anniversary. Date that poor couple God that woman thank goodness you the crown though. We're having the Dick tour. He's like shut up. What more do you want to release? I was talking about the young couple. You guys are talking about the old couple it right. Oh the one that I keep thinking sailor. But he's not is it just the curly hair or the fact that he looks like an extra from knife plus heart. It's the fact that he's wearing white and he's got a blue sweater tied around his neck. It just makes me think of Mr Salty and I'm not talking about trace right now. I'm talking about the actual product Mr Salty auto. You're so funny and Click and they're gone so you know I I like what was I going to say that the plot that's mixed I think it does because I cannot. I'm not a big Fan of Italian. Either I've learned to appreciate most of our Gento Bubba not are all. It's just gross. I well this move is gross. It actually like you said it's pretty straightforward plot. I mean granted never spell spell out. What exactly is going on? No I think that's the sticking point for a lot of people. Oh we don't know these doctors and we don't know why this is happening. And who was that man with the mask and but I believe I believe historically and Y'all can cut me wrong but I think what I was reading about this. That was because after the success of Kazombo genre especially with Donna today because I I did work Have something to do. You know the Italians. They broke into their Zombie. Like actual movie Zombie Franchise which was basically these high and so this was kind of like a reaction to that and but the differentiated by saying Oh with demons instead instead of when you want to possess you but it's basically the same concept concept pretty much pretty much a lot faster though. Yeah there's nope we don't know why this is happening honestly. I remember the first time I saw this when at the end when they walk edits rebuilding. Oh it's happening everywhere not just in this movie theater. Yeah I was very twist it is. That's kind of how I view it. It's like oh we're just seeing kind of like the start. Start of these Ambi- outbreak like. Yeah Yeah Yeah I mean clearly there the pieces are there for you to figure it out on your own that you know that. There's that guy with the mask uh-huh it's actually giving out the tickets clearly. This is something that he had something to do with it and this was all set up to happen. What happens is life starts imitating art? What's happening in the movie? Movie starts happening in the theater because as a proper movie theater in the theater can we. Can you tell the folks about that please about the prop. Yeah that's in the movie theater. Yeah it's it's like silver demon mask that Rosemary. The sex worker puts on scratches her face and basically when they go into the movie they see. It's another it's a horror removed with these four kids that go into it. Archaeological dig site and they open a chest in boom the masochism there one get scratching becomes a demon and then before you know what the same thing happens wants to Rosemary It's all been predicted by nose to dumps which I tried to do some research on him and it was too long so I stopped but is. He's a prophet. If it yourself some sort he predicts the future Oh yeah Oh yeah oh yeah. Famous famous famous prophet. Yeah this is one of the things I love about the to like the movie dialogue is Great. Hey Don't put that mask on. Everyone who went to the mass becomes demon. How do you know because this book says anyone who wears the mess becomes a damning? No there's some choice lines of dialogue in this movie. Most things delivered you by. Is it Tony the pimp Tony the PAM. Yes Tony The sex worker thank you yeah. That's exactly it sex middle management men so I was essentially very disappointed that he died so early on my first son watch. I was like okay. This guy is a great character. He's going to be the third last to die smash ever saying smash everything smashed everything. That's my favorite well and in case you don't know Joe. He does return for demons too but as a different character he and I just found this out today. That demons to in Italy came out before demons. One one is the sequel to over there. I I think it would still work because if you look at them as like one reacts to the other one happens in an apartment building one habits in a movie theater if although there was saying that this already happened we won. Yeah there's a whole section of the city you can't go to because demon town but we're not talking about movies we're talking about movies. Yeah so What I love about this to prop is set out in the lobby of this movie theater on his motorcycle with a sword which we never really figured how that works in the movie theater in the Novi? But that doesn't matter we we didn't get to the final real but it's just set up because you know it's not behind glass. It's not behind a fence protecting it. That some asshole is going to put it on your I. Actually it would probably would have been made. I actually thought that the kind of Elson dressed woman or Santa's helper kind of Ticket taker lady that she was donating right. Oh No that's okay. I always think that when I saw this movie okay sidebar. Okay fireside Chat Way Way Way Way way back in high school it was probably one thousand nine hundred seven. I just started doing theater. It was like my first theater party. I wasn't born yet. Click and you were watching this movie and yeah so we were rained pool party and I just happened to have movies with me and one was say anything thing and the other one was this and everyone already seen that and they said we'll put this on. I have a question this I know. All of us are seasoned horror vets. But like whenever y'all I saw this digital find joe you just saw for the first time but you don't find it scary 'cause I yeah. I never found this movie scary. No it's just gross. Yeah very much. So supposedly has a moment of intensity more than yes scary. Yeah there's a couple of really doc like visually evocative shots and there's a couple of you know like people are Crowns Air Ducts. People are crawling on the movie floor. But I feel like if you've seen in horror films like somebody's arm shooting out and grabbing them is not going to scare you well. I do think that Rosemary's face is actually quite scary at times but it's coupled it's coupled with the the visual of her like lumbering through the halls look a little like a child's boogeyman and it just really funny. Yeah there is that there is a lot of that. There are some seems sewer. The extras of totally going for Academy Awards no exit and they'll just freak the fuck out. I'm like okay. Everybody calm down. "The clock starts now okay So so this film concerns friends. who skipped past so that they can go to an exclusive movie premiere? After a woman has ended on the subway. They need a bunch of strangers. They don't know what you're really shitty. And then one sex worker gets infected. She turns into Demon. She promptly infects blogs or other people they discover. The time is up. Time is up. I should've said elevator. Dental better pitches a producer sir. You could've just said a bunch of an auditory become demons and they have to get out boom done and there's a helicopter. Are you serious. They don't have the title at the Metropol. Take Title EITER. There's no title Carter. Nothing nothing I think. All those people in the move you're dead. I really happened but whatever precision and who made that movie who made it. It's like the day after Saturday. Nice okay bar. This has been a lovely Chad. Pageant. This is great. I'm guessing that that throat that Allen sledding, really fakery has a butter knife. Alan he gets into those jobs, and he just doesn't stop. Well, it's got to be perfect. You know, he can't just slit throat any old way. It's gotta be the Allen real Kelly way or the highway. which means it's going to be the best way. Exactly. And the most fabulous in the most fashionable like he really slipped at throat with nineteen forties. Hollywood glamour? I don't know how he never seen anything like it. You know, the he'd put so much work into his he put so much quality again into his work. And that's why he keeps getting the work, which is great. I know I just said I was wrapping this up. But since we're on Allen, I need you. I I already told the story on the regular podcast, but I need to tell it to you as well. Because I know you haven't listened yet. The first introduction I had to Allen I was at a horror convention in Indianapolis, and they were screaming. And which one sculpture? Oh, okay. Oh sculpture. Yeah. Oh my God. Yes. Yeah. This is a long time ago. And it was before the convention. They announced what the screening I was looking the trailers. And I watched the trails. I'm like, oh, that's a man in drag. That's gonna be a really camp funny role. And then I went to see the movie, I'm going this isn't camp or funny. And the guy's name is Robert. And nobody is addressing the fact that it's a man in address. This is cool. Just it's just Robert. And that's just Allen. Allan, allan. And you know, I know. And that's who he is. And that and it's and there's no way to describe that. No, there's not, and it's just wonderful warm, incredibly warm funny person. And and insist that's him and the either. Yeah. Either. Deal with it or you can keep moving. 'cause I know some people just like what was that about? What was that about? I'm like, it was just a person. It's just that who that person is Robert is a guy and everybody is cool with that. Why aren't you cool when everybody's co it? And fabulous. And that's what you're gonna say. He looks fantastic in everything that he, you know, did you see if you go on Facebook looking slow from last night. He was premier last night on the red carpet with friends of that fantastic. I ran into him on the street a couple of weeks ago, actually, whoa desert. What's her name this lipoic? Can't actress does regularly Gould. Thank you. They were doing screening at the rock bar. And you know, I know Brian and Joe's Josiah's, okay. I'll go to that. I got there and was so exhausted. I couldn't even move. So it's just kind of limping Christopher straight back to the back to the subway. And it was cold. It was wind in all of a sudden drag. It's Alan just like paying to step out of making wardrobe and hair and just like looking stunning my how are you looking stunning in his win. How? So happy to see me. And was so sad that I was limping home. And it was like I, but it just that little little encounter made the trip home so much less painful. Aw. That's that's that's a great story. I'm gonna love that. When you here's all I already told him. I. Couldn't hang out with you. But I was dying and you just lit up my night. We were just speaking yesterday. Actually, we talk like oh my God. Like three times a week four times a week. We'll actually just like random photos just to make each other laugh. That's a good thing. It's good. That's a good friend to have. It's a good friend. Okay. I need to get back to work here. This has been fantastic. Thank you so much. You're welcome back on the show anytime to just bullshit because this incredibly entertaining. Oh, my pleasure. This is great..

"Beautiful screamers. Welcome to another episode of school, queens, the podcast horror gets. This is episode two hundred and forty eight and two night. I'm turning over the reins to you. That's right. I'm still worn out from doing the countdown to Halloween Potter Thon kids. Still can't get up and. Face the day every day. I can't sit through a movie I sit down and ten minutes later, I'm asleep. This is totally like me. So the idea of doing a podcast while I knew in advance this never gonna happen. And that's why I asked you to call in with your stories of your Halloween. So the show is going to be all you. I have no idea. What's in store? I have no idea. What's coming? But it's going to be fabulous. If it's not. It's your fault. It's all how would you call? Right. Of course. Right. It's a terrible thing to say. But so for those of you who are new to the show, please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Patrick Walsh and twice a month. Every month. I am your guide through the weird and wonderful world of harm movies. Although this show is a little bit different. As I said because I'm turning the reins over to you because dire it and before we go any further, I have to apologize for the sound quality. Do you remember like some point during the marathon? I broke my headphones with my microphone on. I still haven't been able to replace them. So I'm still working with the broken set. So it's there hanging on by thread, but I can't position them. So that they stay on my head where the mic is not literally almost in my mouth. So I know that I'm. Spiking, volume wise all over the place. Do it. I can't fix it in post, but just know that's what's going on. So I apologize for that and advance. Anyway, what's going on here and scream queens headquarters? Like, I said not a lot I've been exhausted. I have been so weary. I cannot get back on track. I had to cancel belive show that I was planning on doing at the rock bar. I just could not get my ass out of bed. And I still can't and is kind of a worry. But I now know that if I should say when I do the pot on next year. I need a team of volunteers with me the whole way. You know, and I need to get them together in advance. So I'll probably start working on that in March or something like that. So if you're interested in volunteering at any kind of way, if you're good at any kind of technical stuff for emails or any kind of marketing or your skills or anything like that will still talk, then we'll talk then. But right now, I'm just I am so weary. I I mean, I'm happy. I'm not depressed or anything. I'm just tired. Tired tired? All I want to do is rest. I'm sorry. I thought I heard something that was weird. Okay. Sorry. I can fix it in post to fix it in post. Yeah. So not much has been going on. I haven't been out at all. I haven't seen any. But what the fuck is. Then. Smokey is that you know, you're sleeping. Okay. I'm sorry. I keep thinking, I'm hearing something and. Aby halloween. Dick burger. Guard Lamping the skies. Make you scream with. Painted slash delete cats. We speak. Win your mouth do scream moron going to fail. It way. This. I..

Try little it out level right in front of me. Just like God placed there was a gravel bar a rock bar right out in the middle of the channel exactly where I needed to set the point. I had I had no control or that's where the plane was gonna be. Like pulled it out as I hit that rock. It starts going across the rock. This the Bombay doors Homebase open just giant shovel. It's picking up rock and ground. The whole rear end of that beat twenty four breaks off leave it. I see all four and one. Of the wings. Other pilot in the navigator, we all three of us called out on and said, Dan on we didn't say one word the other anything we're in stupor. We didn't know for sure we arm. So they. A few hours game picked us up took us back to the English coast, and I called base, and they sent an ambulance down because I wanted to tour the mash units onto south and to find out where my crew. One of my. Six of my guys that I became close to very close like family. They're gone. I they should be alive. I should be dead. So I thought about that debt binding moment, we have defining moment. So Brian, where can people find out more about you're getting contact with you? My favorite way is through Facebook. I've had people wanna make websites for me. It's like what would go on a website other than what I put on Facebook. So Facebook and I post a ton of stuff about movies like this. But also I wanted to say one thing. As you know, our friend, Jason Roma's, longtime bartender at rock bar. It has west village just purchased rock bar, huge horror fans, and I set the Jason the other night. If we ever did a screening who's the one person that I could bring in here that you would die to meet. And he said at Marsa from sleep away camp at all, and we're gonna have a sleep away camp hosted by herself on October eighteenth so market Calvet. Okay. Fantastic. And you didn't say where people could it's Brian Norton on Facebook, find them Facebook. It'll probably be a picture of his dog as as avatar, avatars, whatever you'll find him. You'll find Orebro, blonde man and a dog and Erin McGuire. Where can people find you and maybe some of your comedy? Like I. Please. My website is the biggest thing, but here's the t- here's how my name is sell for the love of God. Everybody at Starbucks and everybody online. He are.
