"Yes we love sorry I read that part of the reason LA did not get one pick up at the Superbowl so they when they were building it they were discussing should we put the draft there it's Superbowl they gave him the super ball and took the draft away or something so that's where that started but the calm I might move there to eventually okay why I see them showcasing that stadium but that's why I thought they'd put the draft because it's in Los Angeles by way that if we go to Cleveland I know what you have to take us to the Green Day exhibit all of the the rock roll hall fame yes in a lane yeah no I I know exactly where it is then I studied the Green Day exhibit so whenever that topic comes up on this program again I'm gonna be ready to intricacies of the tracklisting on Dookie yes it's a very prominent exhibit there a couple of phone calls in here Dookie Dookie right now Hey man stay in your lane I'm needed said negative things about Green Day I watch breaking the band last night journey I don't know why I I just was like oh breaking the band who wouldn't it did not go they had guns and roses it was back to back guns and roses then journey and you know there I didn't know much about journey but they had some drama and you learn well Steve Perry came in and he was never fully accepted and you know is a band that was basically an offshoot of Santana and then they started this and then they got popular because of Steve Perry and his great voice but you know there was a real falling out their guns and roses was just you know you had Axel who had them sign over guns and roses to him they're on tour all slash wanted to do is I think just playing party enters axles and I'm gonna get these guys to sign over the name of the band to me you know there were some real stuff going on there and and you know somebody's pancreas exploded sure yeah that's not the is always there's always an overdose or someone lost a finger or foot some of those lost a limb or someone had some kind of major drug why it's usually drug issues I think you only had you know who was it def Leppard they lost a limb I don't think most bands lose a limb the basic either die or you have an odor overdosing come back but yeah it's guns N. roses I can't imagine how you could be on the road and have that many tour stops thanks just survival considering how they what they went about it because they went they went obviously pretty hard all right let me see what we have Terry in Pennsylvania hi Terry would have for me today they did great five nine one fifty five so about the.

"Seven twenty W. G. and obviously that's the rolling stones time much of my producer Jim Ryan is here we have a conversation and we were talking off the air I wished I was telling you guys here Tom and and Jim in you listening that some you know with my favorite acceptance speech of all time is Mickey Rourke from two thousand eight for the for the wrestler at the independent spirit awards just look it up trust me it's okay you'll love it but you told me your favorite I I off the air here we have to share it as the rock roll hall of fame yeah these just to for whatever reason Nick you and I always have this there's always something with the rock and roll comes up every time you're on the every time you're on the show comes up the rock roll hall fame usually negatively the beach boys it getting inducted and Mike love gives the speech Mike love one of the most renowned pieces of work in the history of of music right yeah and he goes up there and proceeds to for like wait too long with no one else talking he goes after Mick Jagger he goes after Paul McCartney it's like it's like he's he's like Michael Jordan at getting inducted where he's like taking this is out as his opportunity to try to any tell anyone he's had an axe to grind with apparently for fifty years he's gonna settle a bear yeah any dropping F. bombs left and right swearing left and right and he he is just going after these legends in the room what which he's not right like as if he's in well they're comfy and I was you the thing is like why didn't Brian what they're all standing there cringing but why didn't bring Wilson talk why what what he he's the key of the beach boys without without yeah my gloves and media but if you ask you know Michael of who the key here yeah I know I know look my glove hired to John Stamos to play drums so it's still doing that by the way yeah man but anyway but so so and then the battle and so this because it is in the uncomfortable Superman of in this F. in man give McCartney set stinks I don't think everybody stinks except the beach boy is one of those ones really keep like you know like when they would go to like fans of reality range everyone in the crowd just like all my like lit with this stunned look on their face so they go to whatever the next segment is I don't remember someone's gonna play but the person is gonna introduces Elton John selected beach put a finish up in there they're walking off stage an Elton John walks up to the microphone stands there shaking his head for a second for like establish that he can't believe it either yeah and then just looks that penny goes the least you didn't Affan mention me it's a new day of the well I will be watching that Jim Ryan is with us he writes about music and entertainment for Forbes in Chicago now joins us once a month and we're continuing our conversation three one two nine eight one seven two hundred you do a lot of interviews I do you go see a lot of shows yes what was the last show you saw sometimes when you when you come down here you come straight from the shelves yeah I've you several times that we've had you on the we've had you here in studio and you you with complex an hour or so before you were in a shell yeah Thursday night SO Robert Randolph at city winery yeah which was wonderful saying that the last one that someone will tell me who that is all right Randall from the family band Robert Randall this is incredible pedal steel guitar player came out of the church I think in like two thousand three he had never played in the in the non secular world and was seriously was plucked from obscurity by John Medeski from asking Martin would the north Mississippi all stars and there were a band called the word and they were looking for a pedal steel guitar player so he's on that first debut album we think finally did they go to a church and finally I'm not sure what the background story is on it but literally that's his first appearance like outside the church and he goes on the play with Clapton and all these people but Robert Randolph and the family band they were just they just lost the best contemporary blues album Grammy to Gary Kleck junior so they're they're wonderful but they just cut a new album in national with Dave Cobb who produces all the major contemporary country does not look like the good ones were going for that authentic sound Chris Stapleton Brandi Carlile Jeez and Isabel so he produced the new Robert Randolph the family they all did in the famed RC a studio a in Nashville where this all those guys yeah like recorded it there and it's it's just this insane story about his journey from three to now he does this album with my desk in the north Mississippi all stars and all these guys and then goes out on the road with Clapton all right away I think I think like when his first major tours was with Clapton wow in its eggs somebody like that being exposed to that world I mean what are they yeah what I think is being on the other night yeah exactly you know in these giant arena as well these people and to be to be playing in a church and then suddenly you're on tour with Eric Clapton I mean that's that's insane that's heavy stuff yeah yeah so what was it with the show was good that show was fantastic yeah almost two hours and then I yeah he no he plays all these other instruments at one point he gets up and walks away from from the pedal steel and goes and plays the drums and then gets up and moves over and puts the base on and walked over the keyboards before the performance was done it was crazy that's really cool yeah that's really really cool it's his his sister sings a couple the song I mean it literally is a family band yeah well that's hence the name so we we spoke for a Chicago now and he covers pop staples on the new album so I had to ask him like because there's real parallels there with staples singers sure coming out of coming out of the surge of secular world yeah and they were a huge influence almost kind of a blueprint he said because you will in no in that church world they're not they don't it really embrace the outside they don't they're not seeking that rain where's the sure stable singers did they made it work yeah I was I was kind of a huge inflow that was a good phone interview yeah it was wonderful I mean it was the with the way I put it to him I said people take it for granted in Chicago that we have Mavis staples out there singing and speaking on our behalf right and that got us going under a real yeah a real nice lane about staple singers yes the influence of them yeah and for people who might not know well a city winery great space yes it is such a great little space and it's where where it's located three three hundred and fifty people at rand often re scene in the west loop so there's there's no shortage of other options around it to I mean you can really you can really make an evening out of it yeah I mean that the west loop is you know I mean crazy go to any restaurant and then every restaurant in the world is on is on random via but no yes city wineries I'd look it's a good it's a great space it's a really great space a really wonderful place to see to see a show I saw I've seen dusty for older couple at all my god yes the world they've they've got a couple good shows coming into they've got ten thousand maniacs this weekend and then in March in a Connors doing about yells during Saint Patrick's day yeah no that's gonna be that's gonna be crazy on real it's gonna it's so I'm so glad that she's you know she's back yeah I and I just hope she's well right I do too I do too she's another person that's gone through some fan in fact for you if you don't if you don't remember she was like missing here in Chicago she was staying here she sets a mental illness issues and yeah substance abuse problems and she but she's enormously gifted it's just one of those people who makes it look who has who has this unbelievable voice it just makes it look absolutely effortless yeah when you see her saying yeah it's a it she's it's if you've never seen or live in and in the space like that you all may have some really excited about on got you don't get any she won't even Mike now will not me to Mike he can project to the back of my manager this is a Tom my producer Tom how much time you've ever seen Sinead o'connor I have not had the pleasure she was a little bit derided in our household oh okay all right now no no not even that because my dad my dad was my mom was Catholic my dad wasn't yeah my dad was the loudest voice in the room no matter what I always decided who we did and didn't like from TV no she's Irish that's the problem the problem is daisy I Scottish okay which is funny because he married a Irish Italian woman and all you ever did was complain about accidents out before and a Catholic and Catholic so yeah I love him to death but I well if you get a chance to see Sinead o'connor it's a it's a it's a it's an incredible experience yeah yeah we just like from the moment it from the moment she stepped on stage it's just magic I hope I hope I am I I get to see her because I I do love Sinead o'connor I think she's one of the most of pre we talented female vocalists ever ever I mean it's it's incredible you can't listen to her version of nothing compares to you and not only got right along the way yeah she's on she's unbelievable and hard to take a prince song by the way and make it better yeah I know and she did she did it and the other thing is I saw it last time I saw her was I mean I I guess it was about ten twelve years ago probably to malign never seen her and that was at the Vic and when it was my my ex wife and I'm actually who just saw her by the way in Oregon okay and said she was in top form there was a casting so we were up in we were up in the balcony in the box and I we were watching her per you know perform and she literally the Mike was probably three feet away from her mama and she could still like that the room was like she's got this voice that is just astonishing yeah and and again I guess I guess she's still she's still sounds great because my ex wife texted me and said Hey I saw Sinead you know tonight and in quite yet is amazing well that's good to hear so Sinead o'connor city winery that must go yes it is that's you know that'll be another Hossain yeah so so because the single currency Patrick's day my hope is that week it's I think it's he's not on scene Patrick's evidence that week yeah pretty sure yeah all right well crazy so I've been to a little plug for the city winery because we always complain about northerly I would be a bad place to seat the bad place yet that city winery is a great place to see it yeah so well it was cool to do that yeah so I I I we need to talk about the fact that you interviewed Jody Stephens all yes yeah I got to tell everybody Jody Stephens is last living member of big star big star again tell everybody people who might not know what big star is one of those bands you've probably heard about even if you've not heard their music yeah they seem to be one of those bands were the word of mouth over the last several decades put out two albums I think we're done by early seventies yeah I guess it right early seventies led by man burly man Alex Chilton another trouble guy and very trouble guy and they were they were power pop I'm to the extent like the best and Alex Chilton road the road the road the big box tops hit yeah the letter the.

"Stuff and if you have slash in there yeah can't go wrong still go back to Howard stern's birthday party and I'm backstage and slashes there with Dave Grohl and their talk so I I of course only know how to turn on a radio these guys are talking in depth about music in goal of course great front man but obviously a great drummers well in here slash so they're talking I'm so I'm just standing there talking to Dave Grohl and then slash comes up and then I'm I'm quickly removed from the conversation even though I'm about two feet away from both of them and they start talking about music and I I'm not the club I got nothing to add and they're they're showing a picture of me backstage by the way I had to buy that sweater in route to the Howard Stern birthday party it's a I don't know how you would describe it it's a very thick thick sweater that you would see like on a guy who is a how did see like a fisherman yeah it's a fisherman's sweater like like some Jason Bourne would wear before getting shot and surviving yeah now I remember when I I went all kind I got to get something to wear because I I wasn't going to go there and then a friend of mine said you got to go and I go I don't have something to wear so we stopped at a I don't know what store it was banana Republic or something I go when I go how about that and that's what I picked out not a good pick but I had a good night there and got to meet Dave Grohl Linda and slash I like the descending chord structure but that was the night I like come on dude like you got a box we out like that that was the night I met John Fogerty you know the the look the legendary John Fogerty hall of Famer from Creedence Clearwater and that's when Gary dell'abate they said Hey the John Fogerty wants to meet you he's backstage and I thought and I had to go through this sort of maze in the building there to get to his dressing room and I thought oh boy they set me up here and I knock on the door John Fogerty's wife Julie answers and she goes yes I go Dan Patrick and then I hear John go Dan Patrick get in here I listen every morning and go on what is happening here they totally the Howard Stern show totally is going to bust me here and and make fun of me and then John sat down as I listen every morning I go wait is this really happening it was it was pretty cool that you're meeting somebody like that and then later that summer I went to see him in concert with my daughter and getting played all the hits because one of the first albums I ever had was because most factory by Creedence Clearwater revival I think up on Cripple Creek and and and then you see him play that and I'm like you know twelve or thirteen when I started playing that music you know that my brother got it was just it was awesome let me see we're gonna talk about the match ups coming up this weekend couple phone calls here the best ending of the song if you like to be involved in this of pretty to sent me the rock and roll hall of fame snobs your normally we we jump in on this so Depeche Mode Doobie brothers Whitney Houston Nine Inch Nails the notorious B. I. G. T. rex all right I thought Pat Benatar was getting in I'm disappointed Pat Benatar didn't get in yeah she should the rock and roll hall of fame because the music calls yes yeah of course yeah but Cleveland will tell you they invented rock and roll or their coverage of rock and roll kid Leo discovering Bruce Springsteen and you know you go to the rock roll hall of fame in Cleveland I mean the music hall of fame it's a little generic yes it doesn't sound and by the way I'm a member of the rock and roll hall of fame only because I got a teacher like you can become a member of the rock roll hall of fame I went there for over thanksgiving with my family and I had a great time if you get to Cleveland or you're in the Columbus area and you want to go make sure you do go it's well worth it but you got to allow about three hours because it's a long long trip you know it is far as going around the rock and roll hall of fame Yannick love I if it's music there what about like yes do classical then like yo yo ma on soft music is too big isn't it I mean is there something rock and roll about these other forms have a rocket like it's kind of like rock and roll rock and roll copy the blues anyway but but Beethoven is not in the rock and roll hall of fame not everybody but he plays rock and roll but right but Beethoven was or a rock star was any yeah in a way yeah and yoyo ma hundred percent is a hall of Famer yeah but he did yeah but he's not in the rock and roll hall of fame I maybe should be that's because it's called the rock and roll hall of fame right but you're saying that people saying that John was at our rock and roll are in there so why not yo yo ma right so right exactly that's exactly the point although I think people should just understands that it's the musical thing what's called the rock and roll hall of fame and just understand that not everybody is going to be a rock musician who gets in there would you like to see a Beethoven exhibit yeah my calc you'll have a one of the pianos there or one of the outfits that he would wear that's the thing that stands out more than anything to me when I see what they wore in hell small those artists were you'll see David Boeing you'll go oh my god how do you get into that and then you think all this legendary like the Elvis in your home that he wore that and of course I went to the rock roll hall fame because I was told to stay in my lane when it came to Green Day and I went there to study up on green we haven't even played a great Green Day ending of a song yet not yet that's probably a huge for that's a big problem right now yes well it's itching to the rock roll hall fame is is the all music colophon except for country music I don't think the country music artists are ever inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame rap waters are are in other artists but country music again has our own hall of fame is huge down in Nashville but I don't think George straight to the rock roll hall of fame and he's as big as anybody yeah but I don't know if that matters to them know what it means that a hunter they their country and that's the you know they want to be recognized in the country music hall of fame it's almost like it doesn't cross all fine with it Jerry Lee Lewis who felt country is Hank Williams in the rock roll hall of fame so there might be some artists in there who crossed over but Jerry Lee Lewis Hank Williams is early influence okay but yeah like Jerry Lee Lewis and like Johnny Cash feels like country than the gospel than country than mainstream he's him I think he's he's in the rock roll hall of fame I think Johnny Cash hello I'm Johnny Cash yes he just sort of like being in the pro football hall of fame and then the Dallas Cowboys ring of honor thing that everybody in the ring of honor is making it to the hall of fame but some of those people are in both would you would you put okay here's one this is a toughie would you put Garth Brooks in the rock roll hall of fame he's as big of a crossover artist as country ever had you he's one of the biggest selling artist that country artist artists you never actually yeah I'm not territorial when it comes to that I don't think putting in Whitney Houston and what's the difference of Garth Brooks or Whitney Houston twice and Garth Brooks I don't know the Christopher gains era really it hurt him that much when he set him back when when he when he played minor league baseball that alone it hurt him enough that he disappeared twenty five years Joan Alabama Hey Joe what do you have for me today Hey Dan how you doing good good Joe good sorry about that Hey this is purely for the comedy I think seeing a call I would love this one the romantics the video what I like about you at the end he does the whole kind wedding crashers motorboat thing with that is and then if I did I like corks up like it's taken every ounce of his brain energy to do it laughs if the drummer five seconds of the video is whole area all right was to see if you can locate that by the way stairway to heaven might be the greatest rock and roll song of all time is it starts out as a slow song so you're slow dancing and then it gets kicks into some serious rock and roll and you're buying the stairway to heaven that's a pretty good ending there as well I just I'm I'm still curious when you're an artist and you write a song and then you get to the end where you're done with your lyrics and then you go okay how do we end this I don't know faded out who decided that how about we end.

"Hear on seven twenty WGN ten time Grammy winner Shaka while I'm away I I I honestly on the floor night this is an aha moment because I thought that Chaka Khan was in and they were just trying to you know she because she got nominated so I just I thought the last thirty happen to you I thought like two two thousand eight R. two thousand five she got in and now she's trying to get a band tentacles are lined with me here talking about his article about whether or not there's an anti Chicago bias in the rock roll hall of fame Chaka Khan and her band roof is did not get in this year and this is a question about whether or not the smashing pumpkins should be at least at least put in the position where their nominee maybe they don't get inducted but they're nominated seems at a certain point this is the time for those kinds of bands of texture just put in saying what a joke the rock and roll hall of fame no smashing pumpkins no Alice in chains No Esty peace I mean there is there a lot of these kind of rock today is that our team even recognized they're kind of our yeah they're kind of on the level of Alice in chains you know they're there and they're not as high up there is Pearl Jam and nirvana they they didn't they didn't rulers on our show did I do the pushing up against a little bit then you know Billy Corgan says he doesn't need it he says he doesn't mention it happening does hello is it all a campaign this is Billy Corgan have to play the game today look at the things that Billy Corgan Shaka Kahn says and the you know when they knocked the rock and roll hall of fame is a fine then we don't want you here well I mean I don't think so because you know Jeff Tweedy he called the rock roll hall fame and money making boondoggle for some people on sort of a tax scam Cleveland but I mean I personally will cause issue and the rock roll hall using an issue and more the smashing pumpkins yeah because critics will will go the element that you know the land if you ran a tenth anniversary essay about did you know that the the legacy of Yankee hotel foxtrot and you know and we'll call also they get they get points because uncle tupelo kind of invented the alt country genre they don't let a metal magazine go along with it the no no depression magazine so yeah so I think they're the next Chicago act it's going to get it and then looking down the road I think some of the some of the the rappers in the two thousand and two thousand ten the Westin common Kanye west common you know chance the rapper sixty you now he continues on this track yeah yeah but beyond I mean because I have I would I would say there's something seriously wrong with the rock and roll hall of fame Kanye west doesn't get it when it's time for him to get in and I'm like yeah yeah I I mean I yeah I think I think you I think he'll get it you know because you know the college dropout was this enormous out Moser on this album for me much bigger my license I can read this I have to admit yeah well you know what I don't know I got that bargain bigger than knowing Callie and the infinite sadness I remember I bought a roof is a shocker Kansi D. for seven ninety nine from tower records or something on the corner there and and spun that think those scratches he now had it's really is so good tell me something good down there pretty much every every fast food commercial that shows a a burger well I got and and try to make it sexy is done to office for shocker Kansai yeah and goodness like mom whoppers two dollars well for me so jams was the number one song on my I pod I it was all I thought you know we twirled it you know with the with the circle and the I and and and that that's a that's a double Chicago because twisters on there too absolutely that okay so as well as we look at this and and you kind of do you say maybe were punch below are weights or or maybe we're not much of a rock and roll town I I I I mean Shaka Kahn and smashing pumpkins and we'll go and and even some of the rapper's those are some of the best in the in their in their business in their in their field our genre so it maybe there's something to what John melania saying that there is a bias here because I just don't understand how Shaka Kahn is not it really don't he hung up on checking here you are signed up on sorry Connors John Mullaney is the smashing pumpkins okay series man I don't think that really blows my mind have you ever had or on the show I have not to sign my book and I would love to have a shocking and I do a four hour anything shocking but it's just about early eighties that's where we want a ring that you can get her and you can get her on and never talk about why she did she's not in Iraq out like Ralph I mean of course you know that she doesn't care she's handling this is Rosalie critics Baba so at the end of the day when you write to stand you put this together do you believe there's an anti by there's a bias or do you think that Chicago Justin's do better I I mean I guess you could say Chicago you know needs me to do better I mean I I think Chicago is it's fairly represented in in the rock and roll hall of fame I mean but I guess probably since we had that that you know explosion of the delta blues electrically as we haven't had you know yeah I huge scene emergency got made maybe the socially conscious rappers in in in in in the two thousands in the two thousand times we we were kind of the capital of that but I may I guess first to rock and roll we didn't have anything like that the San Francisco scene or the or the Seattle scene well I I lived here in the nineties I felt like the Chicago alt rock scene of the nineties with smashing pumpkins with Liz Phair fruit yeah and and they even get I remember I was at the these other rock and roll hall of fame in Cleveland couple years ago when I went there and they have a a little like you she asked very little at the end that it's sort of like Midwest towns and they show Chicago and and the ninety seen there seems okay there seem there they recognize that that exists I just don't know if it's right or any of those names to be put on the big the big marquee Andre ward yeah what I don't see Lister getting into the into the rock roll hall of fame and I'm not sure that had to care for your order to retail they were they were a baby I I you know I I put in a link in there you know those type my will co about you're talking about that scene called the lounge ax right their website is still up this is really still they still list of bands from the you know I think the last two weeks so I would make an argument for his the band that would make an argument for that our name is ministry no I don't I don't think so okay from where they from my technically one snow on there from Chicago right they're not only made from Chicago I mean they're not in not in there okay okay so they're not in that I would say only because if you talk if I'm following the Ted McClellan reasoning that you got to be at the top of your genre minutes right at the top of their kind of post apocalyptic electronic music so I was a ministry I will put it I put a I if I were voting and I'm not as I would put a ballot in for smashing pumpkins I think that they took what was nirvana and Pearl Jam and took it in a different direction and those albums especially Siamese dream yeah everybody had a man it was the one that is yeah ninety I you know I listen to it I I was just I was when I was writing this I was listening to I think I was in the Chinese dream I listen AM I will call I I mean I think that smashing pumpkins their best songs are better than work although I think will cause more consistent tonight is my favorite is harmless on yeah okay so the city by the late he gives me chills so okay so then you got then I would I would say will go as well and I would say yeah Weston and chance and turn right and then I would say Shaka right that would be and then we'll be done with this conversation one note you know you're like John Prine he's been nominated John Prine another one who did that get in right now he's been nominated but he was nominated this year he's been nominated in in years past but he has not now now ten I started this conversation completely in the corner of Chicago needs that is maybe it's not just not a great town the reading now you're you're talking about all these great I'm so shocked and smashing pumpkins John Prine all three of them if I were like there in the hall of fame I would not bat an eye the factor now and and I have to say I'm a little bit angry because I feel like I am I think Whitney Houston should be in the hall of fame she was great yeah but she came off of the success of shocker contracted concept up Whitney Houston so the idea that they just passed over Shaka Kahn from Chicago right Whitney Houston a first try lance Whitney ours are first should been if a couple years but the point being I just find it to be five I don't like that length okay a little bit angry police are have you been have you been to the rock roll I have I have yeah yeah me too yeah I think I went there once you know there's two great music because there's there's the rock hall of fame and there's the Cleveland style polka hall of fame in Cleveland and the Cleveland South Pole coffee was actually more fun I remember my favorite my favorite thing about the at the end of the hall of fame they have a kiosks it's like would you like to vote for someone to be who should be in here right in right to do of course I get how I voted for the smashing pumpkins but what I did I I did it on the screen and it was like a sticky screen or something so I missed the I mean I think I missed the M. souls like the smashing pumpkins B. G. do you like party with Mick Jagger and all that stuff no no I didn't how did you get in this would be what a mass I have no idea my wife worked at CNN on the assignment desk and she would get passes or she would call up and say Hey I'm calling for a you know CNN and we like to go to the club and then we get tickets I think that's how I got in and then you took over the dance floor men I did then may I went to Danceteria one night a Madonna was there but Donna in Danceteria was like six for disco and the big deal was Madonna's in here and I'm ever going to you know one of the floors and she was out there dressed like you know the Madonna of the early eighties yes for two thirds of the studio fifty four thing in the air like it after the fact I went to studio fifty four when it wasn't cool yes well you better rock roll hall of fame before does it change a lot of the displays change your debate I was at the new inductees how from one to ten mandatory music fantasy it yes yeah it's the it's it's been a good six floors and you go in you go down in the basement you know downstairs I we spent three hours there and you just go in there so much archival footage in instruments and there shall fits in yeah rock roll hall fame was wonderful and but I only stayed right nice I went there for three hours and just stood in front of the green day exhibit that was it I'm just trying to soak in a little tree cool there he's in the band Paul don't don't don't run your mouth no no no I I I can run my mouth because my glove is running his mouth agreed to you're gonna pay for it all I know that that's right phone calls coming up eight seven seven three piece email address to the Dan Patrick dot come really see what else today I told you about my my Titans are playing well patriots yes I'd be nervous and now you know why they would love to have Antonio brown that don't care what kind of person he is I wanna know they can help him win but the bills the bills are going to be tested I think their playoff safe is it safe yet yes it's they got Baltimore at Pittsburgh at New England and then they have the chance I thank in buffalo get to ten wins that should be enough yeah Michael I feel like they could catch arraignments in between here like the raven sort of sandwiching them big AFC games I mean I that win against Dallas I know I a look of I hiked up Dallas yes semi over high Dallas yes I have but you go into Dallas on thanksgiving and they handle them I mean that that wasn't one those fluke games buffalo was the better team and that was really really surprising you know the Niners could go from the number one seed in the NFC to number five if Seattle somehow is going to win that division here's another thing we love to bang on Kirk cousins he's a seventy two percent passer he in the last five games twelve touchdowns no interceptions and I know I'm right there with you you want to see him do it in a big game in a big moment yes same thing with rob Lowe yeah I look at Jimmy G. they win games Hey put up some good numbers when you get into a situation where you make a play and that's what the playoffs are all about you make a play or you don't make a black in your team either advances ago goes on watch out for Green Bay you start to look at let's say they go three in one the end up twelve in for this year they got Washington Chicago at Minnesota and then asked to Troy conceivable that they could go three in one go twelve in for yes we go we haven't talked once about that that aberration of a bears lions game and David Blau starting off torching the bears the former quarterback now you know why from what I'm told Detroit was interested in and calling copper I was told that they were one of the two teams that they wanted to bring in Capper Nick they just didn't want all of the media fanfare that was going to go along with it two teams ask the commissioner to create this tryout for capric because these owners were nervous that they're going to get you know blow back there be repercussions if you can bring in copper yeah Michael I saw a report the good delegate working on that work out for a long time not just junk so I don't see why I felt a rush at the very end I so totally understand the timing of everything I don't understand well I think the teams you know we're looking at we want we want to bring him in and we need a quarterback here and it was just I was told Roger Goodell was always in favor of giving Capper Nick a chance a second chance he was always on Capper Nick side to give him an opportunity even know what the owners would tell him privately Roger Goodell the commissioner was all in on giving Capranica second chance it's Hey we should be giving him a second chance or you didn't lose sight of giving Capranica second chance and then you had two teams and said look we'd like to bring him in we just don't want the media fanfare and one of those teams I was told was Detroit yeah that's exactly why I think that happened so fast they told Capranica told all of us that there's a try out in four days from now I think that window was so tight because they were trying to avoid the media circus that it became in just two or three days and it didn't work but they they if they could have done that that try out twelve hours after they announced that they would have because they were trying to avoid it becoming a circus which it didn't for days yeah it was just poorly planned out I mean it was really kind of embarrassing because I don't know if either side was really laying it out for you know to succeed I mean I I don't know if capric really wanted it to succeed as well I took a couple phone calls John in Iowa joins us I John yeah six one two oh five yeah my worse for the weekend I have to be the the Chargers bonehead pass interference play Hey were to be in a game you and best for sure has to be that my Iowa Hawkeyes shutting the brass get out of the bowl game for the third year in a row noble for the browser unbelievable I know and then they they gave Scott frost a contract extension thank you John I'm going mmhm mmhm hello I think I need a leak see a little bit more there from Scott frost with Nebraska yes Mickleham John and I was sent a really down they will beat Nebraska what's he upset about the Chargers once that was yeah yeah I don't think you're surprised at either one of those outcomes this weekend then I would beat Nebraska and the Chargers melted down again I'll call earlier said it was a great weekend of football which is a great weekend of football I know from Thursday through Sunday knows a long weekend not a great weekend Ohio state Michigan was in a good Auburn Alabama was interesting and controversial so that was a Mississippi Mississippi state interesting finish as far as the games yesterday you know ravens Niners at one o'clock in bad conditions okay and yeah why was one how terrible was that it should have been a four twenty five visa for twenty five games are all blow outs for except for Denver at LA yeah it was with felt like we were robbed of which should be a private even last night did you know wasn't as close as the score would indicate I mean the Texans of days they were the far better team last night there's an interesting comment here from the Sean Watson after you met Tom Brady after the game and here's to Sean Watson right now it's it's pretty big raises because this is very you know going to Israeli who knows when I'll hang it up you know that's my role model guy that's been doing it for ever over twenty years among a lot for twenty years so it's pretty.

got expert judges there and the chefs most feature an inexpensive Turkey item in their Turkey dinner and other competitors continue towards the twenty five thousand dollar grand prize tune in an all new episodes Sunday nights only on Food Network American music awards were last night I was watching a football game I went I think I know how this is going to end let me check out the AMA because I wanted to see if Taylor swift was performing and being treated nicely which she was last night it's just one of those where if you show up you win an award I mean it's a real competition in there because I some of these music awards you go we're going to create a category for you so if you show up Sir like the espys used to do best quarterback from a team that won less than five games in the AFC west and the SP goes to yes but it doesn't matter what the category is Taylor swift's winning yes yes and rightfully so pretty much I think she won like thirty seven awards last night she was the performer of the decade end of the year yes I like Taylor right now the no no some of the machine I just don't know how you lose if I write it and then I did I sign it over to somebody like how to scooter Braun end up with this and scooter is of which McCall beavers Justin Bieber's manager and I think Arianna Grande and some of the honor he's got a lot of people in a stable but he ended up with the music Donna how you lose your music but then then the Beatles lose their music to Michael Jackson where Paul McCartney said Michael Jackson wonder nobody should do with his money and Paul McCartney said you should buy Hey our music any did okay and then Paul I think was upset at Michael for buying the music we spent like forty million dollars or something like that but messed up man but this Taylor so she doesn't own her music but can you go back and re record your music but change it slightly and then it becomes yours I think there's certain rules about that too she was recently complaining about how she's not allowed to perform certain songs live or something because then that would count as re recording the songs or something like that the language gets really tricky and then I think she sought permission to be able to play her hits last night at the AMA it was there anything else that went on was going with the enemy yeah they did a tribute to a and a classic rock band on this twenty fifth anniversary with breakout album so I was expecting some old band come out they're not realizing the dates in the time of twenty five years and interest Green Day as the all time classic rock band whose get their due is Green Day classic rock well if you look at anything that's a quarter century old would be classic rock by the fall it like classic vinyl on serious I guess are classics CD but so I wouldn't I don't know if they have a classic CD channel I think they have a cassette channel on those years yes you when I first started working in radio I was interning at a classic rock station and they this is like two thousand maybe something like that and they were playing like nirvana and Pearl Jam and all this stuff and they basically said that the rule was once you get to about ten years old you can start playing it is classic rock yeah and that made me feel I was like whoa what it how are we playing you know Pearl Jam right now this is crazy yeah but I don't remember hearing and classic vinyl the jammer nirvana yeah Mike love greed is been in the rock roll hall fame for four years now in I thought it was all too soon it's twenty years for the hall of Famer in for it now so yeah yeah I also is Green Day that of a clear cut rock and roll hall of fame level band I do I don't like it when they weren't what I gravitated towards but you know I'm snobby when it comes to rock and roll so you know I I'm not a I'm not a good judge on that I mean I know good music I just is we use are going to be in the hall of fame one day yeah to give you an idea thirty years ago is when guns and roses broke that's three decades ago gone most now I know it doesn't they don't feel that all but they are in their mid fifties what I would consider them more classic rock than I would Green Day yeah only by age are not saying by genre just by age like a classic car is twenty plus years old new yeah I'm a club our personal at the national becomes eligible for the rock roll hall of fame they started ninety nine I don't think the nationals maybe the people love those two then I mean like you know like in the arm critics favorites kind of bands moon things how may I see in place if you have to explain who they are a national radio it makes it tough yeah the nationals nada is it national or the national the national the national yeah ladies and German the national Dale rose fifty years from now people look back only there is going to be a he will be hall of Famer probably might be because you know he caught the attention of Kanye west like that but I I think that he created something where people go well women does Hootie and the blowfish get into the rock and roll hall of fame I'm actually shocked yeah they do but just on productivity I I I thought about this the other day and I think I compilers productivity is at the they're like gale Sayers they're more like a gale Sayers type were the first couple years I mean if they spread their album sales out over five albums they be first ballot but they didn't basically one and a half out okay how many Max who have had who sold as many albums as them let let's say you put it at ten million albums how many of those have not gone into the whole thing you could even go down to seven or eight million but can you go into the rock roll hall fame based off of one album that there is will be a country music hall of Famer is he said eight or nine number one hits in country but I I've I was curious about that with Hootie the blowfish if Dave Matthews Band is up there should Hootie the blowfish built there yes say you start to see you said ten million right out so like matchbox twenty one of their albums sold twelve million three AM I must admit they belong in the rock and roll hall of fame noon probably not Thomas is a great artist yourself for someone like you with the album in mmhm jul Dixie chicks Def Leppard are there any in they might be I think they are boys to men well Bon Jovi obviously of course yeah yeah it's pretty good one o'clock okay it's possible that popularity turns critics off in the moment but twenty years later the critics come back because it's clearly good music I feel like the popularity some of those bands we just mentioned well that happened to Hootie the blowfish right and now do you think now that they're not in the moment critics can look at a little more objectively maybe you know we get caught up in you hear a band so much and then you sort of turned against that because you're like oh my god the other plan that band with that song and then you get tired of it but there there's something to be said about staying power that they came back and they were you know they played in front of a million fans on this tour him see that's this tore is actually really sort of opened my eyes to the continued like the staying power of Hootie and the blowfish that I was kind of shocked to hear that they were doing playing that that many people still yeah you're playing the garden back to back nights that's that's a lot of people yeah I mean they they played in front of a million people on this tour so those hot those songs stayed with people for twenty some years yeah which is a remarkable yeah Paul do you think about it their fan base now is anywhere from forty to fifty five years old forty six years old they have money to go to concerts they haven't seen them since your mid nineties and yet that's the kind of cancer they want to see that I can go see a younger concert now let's take a break last call for phone calls eight seven seven three D. P. show will close up shop after this in the damn Patrick show.

"Real pleasure to jump on the live line right now to the rock and roll hall of fame and museum we go sign in please a Keren Harmon how are you hi by president and chief curator at the rock roll hall fame that's a that's a big job vice president and chief curator I mean eighty you gotta be steeped in the ways of rock and roll to make sure you got the right pieces come into the hold on chip I hope so yeah basically you know we're chart really in charge of the stuff and telling the story all the physical pieces all the exhibitions I really making sure visitors have a great time and I really learn the history of rock and roll I love that you're the vice president and you're like we're in charge of the stuff is that is brilliant I love it so when you talk about what's going on the highly anticipated play it loud instruments of rock and roll exhibit is a coming in this just start tomorrow right yes it starts tomorrow so tell me about it okay it's called play it loud okay far from New York so it opened their first last April and has made its way to us with only two locations that are hosting this exhibit it really is some of the most influential rock well these are the tools of the trade so many of the iconic rock stars early on all the way yeah and you talk about that I mean I know people love to go to shows you scream and yell but to see like you know Jimi Hendrix guitar to see music you know instruments at music that you can sing along with that you rocked out to in the day where it was created that is so key to so many people it is insane I mean and and and we have so many is over a hundred and twenty five really really iconic artifacts in the show in any everywhere you turn you see something you know different or better or something that you remember from from early on it's just really incredible and we really take it to take all the way through from the earliest things when you walk into the exhibit the first thing you see when Chuck berry's you know principal guitars that's just kicks off the show and then as you're walking down the entire set up with metallic I mean it's so if there's one thing after another I think everyone's going to really enjoy it it seems like it's got to be mostly guitars I mean when you think about iconic rock N. roll performance I mean you think Van Halen you think about it you know Eric Clapton I mean I the names just a flood in your head but it's got to be mostly guitars doesn't want there are a lot of guitar it'll be Frank there's a lot of guitars including you know is infection Eric black Eric Clapton we have his Blackie guitar an exhibit for the for the show I'm we have the guitar he played an unplugged we have we just have so many guitars we also have complete band set ups we also go into you know expanding the band we have had dismissed clear and that we have Ian Anderson's flute from doctor talk so we really are talking about the insurance those tools of the trade of musical artists throughout time yes so as as the chief curator how do you go about authenticating that because it's like okay there's a flute there's a there's a clarinet there's guitar how do I know that's the one that was in the hands and was either late a lick on or blown through by these famous people yeah we have we have traders that really do a great job of of tracing the lineage and really finding a probably not of these pieces a lot of them to the really cool thing about the show two is when you walk through almost every lay all labels on the insurance that talk about the instruments have a photograph of the artist usually using an instrument so you you have a photo ID plus we really again we trace who own the instrument up until the day that we got this very cool so so when you do that then I mean the mindset of the fan or as you as the curator is it the music itself is it the live concert will what is it really that makes these performers and instruments iconic I think it's because they connect with us and that I mean that's what it's all about it's really that that music connects us and it really gives us you know something that is and I mean it's unethical and it's so different than any other art form and I think that then we'll and what we try to do is connect the artist the instrument and then say look this is you know what they've created the hand is bigger than the both of them it's a it's pretty cool Karen Harmon our guests from the rock and roll hall of fame and museum of some bands Karen we're kinda known as destroying instruments so how do you how do you go about getting instruments from hands like that really good people in the show one of them is how said he is encased in like a lucite so so it that you see it as it was destroyed it was he actually did he actually destroyed it in front of other tire for any legal this is as you can see him doing it and then the other piece is Kurt Cobain from the in utero chore and the priest saying this is a pretty famous thing it was actually it was actually some so use it and we we did put the film up and he basically the stress of guitars it took about seven minutes and he is one twenty that has a drill yeah and he drilled into the guitar and then turn on the drill so it's sort of like it was really like a Pete Townsend windmill has been around and although he was destroyed so we have the pieces into pieces and the strings are just kind of all over and we also have to drill in there that's classic yeah it's it's it's a pretty cool peace no doubt about it so when you look at the pieces that you have India India have to like allocate more room for some pieces or is it just Hey everybody gets there five or six square feet and bam bam bam right down the line you go we have a no no it's really a personal like yeah we didn't we didn't go by size but we do have a couple of really great bands us we have the route we have the who including the pictures of lily drum kit forgiveness and we have metallic and those are full sat and we also have this amazing I'm James Jamerson base to full full bass that he used for his motel recordings as also in the shower so yeah wasn't for L. and we have Jerry Lee Lewis is piano so yeah we didn't besides looking to an issue this is this is exhibit two is probably the largest exhibit that we've done at the rock roll hall of fame and and also we've blown out we it's on multiple force you can even fit in our usual temporary exhibition space so we actually have it on four levels of the museum that's that's so impressive so if I want to come see it what's the what's the cost to get in I deal with the stock market all right will I'm sure I'm twenty six hours okay let's that's not so bad you you mentioned Jerry Lee Lewis like a member of my dad was a big rock fan a grown up so you know I know fifties and sixties stuff pretty well and we actually saw him at a county fair one time when I was a kid and even as a little kid you could you could be so impressed by the performance in the energy that he gave so I'm sure that the you when you look at the stuff you'll be able to feel the energy kinda immunity absolutely absolutely if that's so that's what's so cool about it especially especially when you see on the photos and bike yeah that that's that's the one that's the piano that yes it's it really it really does of folk a lot of memory and and really pushing the space and plus you see one of the really cool things to have this is the street cars are together just back Rory Gallagher and Stevie Ray Vaughan and their their principal instrument and they are just so beat up Las and you know it you can just see like that you know you can see like every market you get into the snow that these guys that that was it was like it was like their right arm yeah it's kind of the way you wanted to be beat up and loved it is kind of the way rock and roll is Karen great stuff and we appreciate the time and she's the person in charge of the stuff of VP at the rock and roll hall of fame and museum and chief curator and I just I just did a quick search of you want to get in and see all that stuff all the full privileges the rock coal tickets are thirty Bucks for members and fifty Bucks for non members that includes a complementary drink ticket a dessert bar and live music so it's a really really cool and we appreciate very much care and you being on the tells about it what seven twenty years traffic and weather we update every ten minutes on the tens from tennis star heating and cooling brother he was forty two remains closed in both directions over top of I. seventy this is from an earlier accident that involved a pedestrian med flight had been on scene a little earlier to make a transport there but they are keeping this closed in both directions and the I. seventy exits to a forty two are being closed off as well now you can get on I too was seventy westbound from forty two or seventy eastbound off of forty two north otherwise you cannot go across forty two on I said you cannot exit seventy of forty two either seventy east bound and already backing up a couple miles here we're also seeing delays on seventy west at one forty two not from the accent but for the construction being done over here in Madison County so lots going on over here if you're heading to and from the Columbus and Dayton right now here in Columbus accident scene Morse road it's Stigler westbound traffic almost backs up in Hamilton road seventy westbound is still.

Macy have plenty of money some money thing it and look at it this way okay she's got a felony record so so what you're Felicity Huffman you you don't need that you're there so you're still going to get work it doesn't matter to you although she may be a little tougher to insure because on those movies that then TV shows the Big Island sure yeah so that might make her a little to nothing away but yeah I'm I'm not worried about her ability to find work after this and it'll be interesting in the what what she's gonna do is are we going to see an interview somewhere yeah Diane so we're going to talk yeah if you're gonna write something to be like in a you know one of those articles for this feed my time in prison it'll be interesting to see how this all comes out if you read the book to be on Ellen you can get out Alan until his you know how this plays out to guard the books he's gonna talk about my time in jail and how it changed my life and how you know what we're gonna do anything for kids and we got to kind of change how we are but but I love my children I was doing that a lot of and she's going to spend a single for another fortune or is she is William H. Macy gonna swoop into the prison in the house well and pick her up because because this is a great start telling that actually did happen at this person yes yes it's in the end of the call I think this person is is well known for a long with housing Heidi Fleiss then Patty Hearst there was a prison break where a guy I think they were bank robbers something like that and this guy landed the helicopter in the prison yard of the of this prison up in northern California and the his his lady friend got in and they took off and they were gone for ten days nobody could find nobody knew eventually you know they've been caught up to him and and found them but there has been a daring helicopter prison break at this actual brick was singularly is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of because you're in a cushy cushy president now you're going to real prison for five years I think I understand right any serious prison not like medium like regular maximum security because now you have escaped from jail yeah that's your stereo prison breaker yeah if if if my boyfriend lands on the it when I'm in prison my boyfriend takes a helicopter lands back I would say you know what makes in six months because usually that's how long people are in there for you yeah see I don't know this guy I chasing Nathanson in Hollywood this morning at seven hundred W. I G. yet rap I mean the raptors come a long way there's not that many rappers in the rock and roll hall of fame the only solo rapper in there is two pox so be you would be kind of a fitting guide to be absolutely you have to have him in well okay but here's the thing it's like going to the food hall of fame in training Maconochie what you have but if the if you look at and yet he died in that that was tragic in a cut short his accomplishments but the the first we had you only have two albums so that's a little tougher sell than some of these other artists like you say you know Depeche Mode or maybe Soundgarden arose from the other two are her up at this year's I don't know that he gets in on the ballot but he could be it could be kind of fundamental thing that he does I think so but the thing I mean you look at other artists who died young in the rock roll hall fame is full of it absolutely it's a lot of it you know I think is based on your body of work and I don't know two albums in yeah.
