I want to strongly appeal to those districts who have not implemented prevention strategies and encourage them to do the right thing to protect the Children under their care. "CDC Director Rochelle Walensky literally minutes ago, Um cited an increase in Covid 19 cases from the delta variant for For them, changing their minds somewhat at the C. D. C. Now they're recommending you wear a mask. Even if you've been vaccinated, including in schools came through 12 with me is W B A P Zone, Clayton Neville Clayton. It seems like every month we get a change their sayings, saying, it's a shift in the science. What did you get from this? Well, it's a reversing course, is what it is because vaccinated Americans had been told previously. That they didn't have to wear masks. And now that's changing, and people who are in areas with high transmission of Covid 19 specifically the delta variant. They are now recommending that those people where masks inside so it is a change, of course. Now they say that it is the delta variant and the rise in cases and hospitalizations that is behind this, and you just heard it in that cut. Dr Michelle Wolinski said that the recommendation does include kindergarten through 12th grade. All visitors, all students, all teachers, all staff. You know, Clayton and I know you've been following the story behind the story, so to speak, but a lot of people are concerned. I won't say worried, but I think they're concerned. That this could lead. Um as it has in the past in the last year, so this could lead to a federal mask mandate the You know the White House whether it was Trump whether it's Biden. I always say they're following the science and the recommendations of the experts and, uh, you know the script. Um should people be be concerned, in your estimation? Do you believe that this administration is perhaps considering Federal mandate, you know, based on what the Biden administration has said it looks like they may just encourage local leaders to make those type of decisions now, I certainly wouldn't rule it out down the line because you just don't know as you know that we've seen a lot of uncertainty with the Delta variant in with Covid, so it's hard to make any bold predictions like that. But it does seem like the Biden administration. Is adamantly encouraging local leaders. California has already done it and others to implement either be mask mandates, masks, recommendations, social distancing things like that. So I do think we'll see more and more of it Pop up. Will we see it in Texas? Well, that's a different story. You know, there's a big difference between mandates and recommendations, and that's where we are right now. Governor Abbott says the Texas is well beyond mandates. Texans know how to handle Covid 19. They have all of the tools to do so, and it's up to them to do it. That's governor Abbott stance. A lot of other Republican leaders are in the same boat. Yeah, I know Florida Governor, Rhonda Sanders. He wasted no time He came out. I think it was less than four or five minutes after the briefing by the C. D. C And he says, This is crazy. This makes no sense. And he said, And this is what cut my ear. Um this recommendation is not based on science. There's no indication that areas with mask mandates have performed any beer better than areas without mask mandates. In fact, this policy could actually backfire. So the Santas, the governor of Florida, not buying into that As as governor. Abbott has had a couple of times as well. Yeah, you know, And it is a recommendation from the CDC, not a mandate, So the question is and specifically here in North Texas and in Texas. What our business isn't specifically schools going to do with that recommendation. You know, Texas is Texas schools are not allowed to mandate masks per governor Abbott's order that doesn't mean they can't recommend them or support them. It just means they can't mandate them. So how are they going to handle that? With the governor's order in place here in Texas, which businesses are now going to come out and reversed their their guidance and say, you can't come into this restaurant? If you're not going to have a mask on? We're going to see some of that the schools in the private businesses Are really where we need to. Look, I don't think we're going to have any statewide governor Abbott mandates. Yeah, I'm with you, Clayton. Level with the double your B A P newsroom Clayton. Thank you So much for the great report. Always a pleasure. Thanks, Rick. All right, Let's get to your calls 1 800 to 88 w B A P. 1 800 to 8892 to seven. Now you heard the C D. C briefing in the C D c director You've also heard the Governor Rabbit Governor de Santis and a few others. Um, uh, can I just give you my opinion, unvarnished? The federal government. Especially this new administration. Has proven to me since they took office. They don't have a damn clue what they're doing. They're making it up as they go along. Immigration is legal immigration. Is through the roof. Covid 19. They've totally lost control over its like they change direction as far as what they perceived the science to be, Um every two or three weeks. Inflation. Is it a 13 year high? Um, I'm sorry. I got no faith in what they're doing Martial in Bedford Marshall, How are you doing? I'm doing great, Rick and I hope you're doing the same. I want to say one thing in a brief for it. It's all about control the Yankees one way the youngest back the other way, and they say he's going to follow. Now. There are people on the left. They're going to follow because all they did is their brand of the news. So they've got the schools to colleges. Everything is under rebel control. So the message they want to send out is what half of the world of of this country gets, and no none of them are listening to us. So that's the problem is that they keep having they use crisis has come up. Added new ingredients into the mix to where it's going to keep us on our toes and see how many times they can flip flop back and forth Yankees one way or the other, and it's all about control. I think you're correct. I you know, One thing that the left has never been shy about is making it known that they're there for the money and they're there for the power and anything. Anything is acceptable If it gets them from point a to point B, including the American people, I think you're absolutely right. Well, and they lie about everything. If they say it's this, we know it's that if it's up, it's down. If it's left, it's right inside it out. If you if you read the opposite of what they're telling us, it's not for our own good. Get through their own, do it. They don't give a damn about us. Marshall. Very good call. I appreciated my last question. Marshal, The C D C director just gave a briefing. Will you be changing your behavior in any way, shape or form Because of this new information. No, I got my both shots back in January. February. I'm 70 years old and I'm going to do what I want, and I don't listen to them because they don't make sense period. Marshall. Thank you for a good call. I appreciate it. Sydney and ambling Texas. Sidney, How are you? Yeah, I'm doing good. Uh, I would just say, saying to your producer, I said, I believe that Nancy Pelosi made one phone call down to the CDC and said, If you want your funding, you're going to tell them To start putting on your mask all over again. Why? Okay, let me ask you and I'm not I'm not convinced that she didn't do that. But what? What would be the upside other than? As Marshall said the control. Why would she do that? Exactly. It's all about the control. Uh, digest when they get the lockdowns and the mask and ever saying it was a test to see if they could get the American people to follow their rule, And when they found out that all of America was shutting down And putting their mask on. They said, we could go to communism and a heartbeat. Well, Sydney, it's it. Sadly, that makes a lot of sense..

"For 16 months, we've been telling people be cautious. Be careful cases are going up. Deaths are still very high, and for this very moment, we have cases coming down there down a third in the last two weeks, death rates that have never been as low it's since April of 2020. Again. That's Rochelle Walensky, head of the CDC. And she says everything's great now. It's great. By the way, you can talk about this, and I don't want you guys to even think about Missiles being tossed from Haram Hamas over Israel and Israel's Don't even think about the border is fine. Don't even notice that last month's inflation rate was the highest since 2008. And the worst is still yet to come. Because they're a lot of things on the consumer price index that not even noted. "One of the alleged rioters who stormed the capital in january has an interesting legal defense. Apparently he was suffering from what they call. Faulk saidas yes. His attorney claims he was basically brainwashed from watching too much fox news. You know if that's what you wanna do. Why would you blame the messenger. Can you blame the media for a crime sunny. You know this is like an old story. Change the channel right. Just change it as these. The might be the same. Drank some Who who ingested detergent fluid or whatever. It was bleach and he said drink bleach drank. The bleach is is a trump's fought so his oh there's i wonder go ahead. Yeah that's a pretty interesting argument coming from. I think generally a group of people who about personal freedoms plus personal responsibility right freedom of choice and so if you wanna have those freedoms then you're also you also have the consequences that come with those choices. I don't think that that legal defense would ever. I'm withstand legal scrutiny. But i will say this. What is very interesting. Is that fox news. Now at this point should be on notice that what they are doing in terms of their campaign of misinformation is really harmful to their viewers. They're very loyal viewers to this country at this point. My understanding is that it's already facing to defamation lawsuits right one to multibillion dollar lawsuits i might say. From voting technology companies. Smart matic and dominion voting systems over defamation for their airing a false claims re relating to their technologies. And i think what's also what some viewers need to understand. Is that a federal judge in september last year dismissed a defamation case against tucker carlson ruling that tucker carlson is not a credible source of news and that it is not stating actual facts about the topics he discusses instead engaging an exaggeration and non literal commentary and that anyone that's listening to him should be listening to him with an appropriate amount of skept skepticism about the statements that he makes and so getting putting that into consideration. No no no judge is going to listen to that argument. That's that's ride okay. So you're still a republican. I understand and tell me how is fox news hurting your party or healthiness. Lavar think it's hurting the party. I think it's hurting the country. I think it's hurting democracy. I think it's hurting journalism And we've seen the results of it We've seen what's happening with vaccinations and the headset hesitancy. Among some republicans. It has a lot to do what they are hearing from. Phone use You know the insurrection on january six the spreading of the big lie. It has a lot to do with what's being heard at four news. It's incredible you really can't underestimate the effect of this the other day i had this lady come up to me. Who literally looked like she was the last survivor. From the mayflower. Asking me about joe biden being told and having dementia because they hear that over and over and over again from fox news. Look what we are seeing. Play out in congress right now what. We are seeing play out with liz. There have been republicans who've come on this show who've come on every network who've said it all over the place screened from every hill people like tear step. My people like amanda carpenter. I lot of former congress people who have said. This is not about principles. This is not about being republican enough or not being republican enough. It's not about ideology it's not about conviction it's about truth or lies it's about right or wrong. It one. Purity test is a cultist purity test. Do you follow and are beholden to trump or are you not. That is the only test at fox puts up. That's the only test that the republican house puts up and it's frankly disgusting and it is destructive to everything democracy the country the party and brain cells and i think that they also seem to be telling people that the vaccine is dangerous. Even though millions of people have been vaccinated. I just found out yesterday that there are people in my family. My family who are not getting the vaccine. Because they're worried. One of them has said that she wants to get pregnant and she's afraid that it will harm her pregnant safe. Where did she come up with that. She must have heard it on fox because you never hear any legit station. So they're very very dangerous in terms of this vaccine. What will never hit herd immunity if he keep listening to these people over there. Am i right or wrong. I'm right okay sarah. Have you seen anyone afflicted with fox sinus now. This is a virus. That's been around for a while and we should definitely be working on a vaccine but all joking aside. I do think that fox is is not to blame. When you're talking about an alleged insurrectionist that took individual as sunny reference. That's a problem. But i do have some sympathy for fox news watchers. Because there's a certain amount of people that watch in good faith and they happen to have chosen fox to trust and people on tv. With great power comes great responsibility. I grew up at a time when you you tuned into the nightly news in those people you could trust them and although there is rampant distrust right now or mistrust in the media there are a lot of people that still tune in and when they see someone on tv talking they think well they're telling me something and they believe them. So the people. I hold the in the highest standard on those people that knowingly betray the facts intellectually dishonest people that look at these viewers and guide them into the dark for a paycheck and everyone. I know that's been anywhere near fox that has worked there. That knows people there. I always said i could forgive these fox people a little if they truly believe in what they're saying and those are their convictions. I have no forgiveness for people that are are doing otherwise and every single person. I've asked said they absolutely know what they're doing is wrong and they choose to do it. And and you know what we can lay the blame right at the door of rupert murdoch and luckily murdoch who pay these people. These enormous amounts of money and make it very hard for them to say no to the lies. Now i just think people should make a living but not if you really have to set your soul to the devil and put out false and dangerous information which is what the basically join for a pay as you say for a paycheck and it's a big one. Believe me. I've seen the information. We'll be right back..

"Little bit later, but We start off with schools once again in Tempe. There is an open our schools billboard. They've gone up off I 10 Tempe Union High School district. They want to move back in person learning. So parents said that it's near Elliot Road, saying that the district's heir failing our kids, and that's what it says Tempe Union High School district is failing Our kids open our schools. Parents are beginning to start voicing their opinions because they're beginning to see that this has become overtly political. We had Rochelle Walensky, who is the CDC director has sent a couple of different things over the last week or so again. You are talking about a very odd time in American politics. When you have largely a Democrat, you know, administration. Why shouldn't say largely, it's completely a Democrat administration. And the Democrats hold the House and Senate and we know that labor unions are big, big big supporters of Democrats and vice versa. That's where them not not saying membership is much but definitely management in the unions. Donates the line share their money to Democrat candidates and causes so there usually is a pretty strong alliance there. But if you look at the alliance is beginning to break down, the mayor of Chicago who was no conservative, is furious with the union in the city of Chicago and saying it's time for kids to get back into the classroom. You've got the head of the CDC Rock, Rochelle, Wolinsky or Wilensky, saying this about schools opening Data that suggests that there is not a lot of transmission and that is happening in schools when the proper mitigation measures are taken when there is masking when there is distancing, de dense ification of the classroom, ventilation contact, tracing hand washing all of those things when they're done well, the data suggests the science suggests that there is not a lot of transmission happening in schools, and in fact, the case rates and schools are generally lower than They are in the population surrounding it. So what's happening is two fronts where it's beginning to be infuriating to some parents. There have been parents have been paying attention to this for a long time. And I'm not. I don't blame the parents that don't you are trying to keep your head above water. You have to figure out how to educate your kids. Covert 19 in the spread of covert 19 has been very severe in Arizona, a number of times more than once. So parents were just going on with their lives, and now they're starting to see the adverse effect on their kids. The better part of two school years have been affected by this, and now we're seeing more and more kids are beginning to fail. One of the stories less kids now going to school online or in person than before. Parents are starting a home school. Other parents were taking their Children to charter schools and in the other district and the ones that it really hurts are the are the families that everybody claims to be the champion for which are working class or low income families. They don't have those kind of options. Generally speaking, those parents are not the ones that have the ability to drive their kid to another district and get them in a school or to put them in a private school. Or they have one parent. Stay home in home school, their kids, they're stuck without us. Shins, which means their kids are in the worst situation of online learning with no way out. And people are starting to see it. They're seeing it for the politics that it is when you've got the very Democrat mayor of Chicago against the Teachers union when you have Rochelle Walensky, who is the CDC director in a Democrat administration, reiterating two or three times this week that the safest and best place for kids is in school that covert 19 is not spreading in schools is longest protocol is being met. And everywhere we look It is being met at a much higher rate. So we are keeping businesses open, which I believe we should. That was one of the excuses that we heard from the people here in Arizona that as long as the community spread remains high, we're not open in the schools. But every study shows that when the schools are obeying protocol, the spread is so much lower in schools. It's actually safer to be there. And for kids to be home. It's a safer place. So this has become well, it always has been, but it's become apparent to people that this is an overtly political maneuver, and they're beginning to lose ground very quickly. So now they're talking about funding. Well, we have a lot of money in the rainy day fund here, Arizona and once before, when the teachers wanted to raise the governor went to the Republicans and Legislature because they have the majority and they went to work with other, um There's educating experts, education experts and they put together a plan and they gave them the 20% raise. They were asking for and it took the wind out of the sails of the unions, then So now, if their complaint is mitigation strategies and having money to mitigate well, there's money in the rainy day fund. And what's funny is point to the other school districts, one of the largest. I think it is the largest school district in Arizona is Mesa public schools. And Mason's back in class. You look at so many of the East Valley District's that are doing this. And they're spending money. And they're making sure that the mitigation strategies and protocols are in place. So if these other districts canoeists if may sicken, do it. Why can't Phoenix Union It's a great question. Why isn't Tempe Union? And the fact is it's because of the leadership of the district is working hand in hand with the air. They ate you. They're one and the same. Because the teachers and those unions will do a sick out and shut everything down. And unfortunately for them, the tables are beginning to turn so their plans are now changing and you will see a change in direction from them. They will be the heroes once again that they will be now that the vaccine is out there. They're going to come up with a plan that's going to cost a ton of money. To say we will come back in school when you do these three or four things, and they're going to be impossible to do and it's gonna look like we wanted to go back to school, but we just wanted to make sure it was safe. The data already says it's safe. Gonna talk more about this. I mean, I'm not going to give up on this topic. It's is important. Anything else that's going on in our schools. But first we've got to get it over. Taylor Kepner up. She's got breaking news. Katya are.
