"Yeah, I did not see that today and I have not seen that from this team for a long time since Robin Van Persie was heading home from 18 yards. This team is better than that team. This team is way better than that team. I disagree. Clearly now we should put some money on it and if you were a club, if you were a true club and country fan, you would have heard us go twice over the different brackets of contenders. And among the 9, they're in the fourth bracket. They're the ones where there'll be many articles written if they do win. But they're in those 9. And I thought today was fine, right? I thought today was mostly what we would expect. I'm not sure. I thought it was an even game from a very good Senegal team that maybe missed audio mane, but still demonstrated their quality. Not maybe. Not maybe. The whole thing, the whole thing with how Senegal set up. They have that super functional midfield, right? In that acts as a platform to give money room to freelance, money drops them, he becomes their ten. He inverts he becomes an essentially a second forward. He goes out wide and he becomes a true winger. Like he does all of that. He keeps with their press. Everything that they do is designed to be functional behind him and allow him to be Sadio Mané. And without him, they didn't have anyone who could take the moments that they were producing and turn them into high level chances. I also think the moments don't exist for Ismail SAAR and dear without mane on there where they're getting where he's getting double and triple team. Beat two guys. He tries to stand the vendors up and take them on. He could do that when it's one V one or when he gets it in rotation. And then he has a chance. That's not his game that wasn't the akita's game in this one. Even then, I thought Senegal had the chances to go ahead one zero. They were the better.

"Now San Diego wave head coach Casey stoney was the founder that really built the club from scratch. But then I'll make a huge stride as the women's Super League in England continues to gain momentum season on season after this great summer of three Lion esque glory, the excitement crackling around that league is really, it's an incredible time to be alive to witness is a blue who grew up in England with the women's game really existing in the shadows and a fascinated in the locker rooms of then WSL, what level of talk has the women's Super League return triggered. You know, is the conversation amongst players thinking, wow, that looks over there. That looks amazing. Oh, always. We always get excited when that leak starts over there. It's something for us to watch that we are invested in, not that you PL and Champions League for the men isn't fun to watch. But it is a different game. It's exciting and it offers a different visual of football that is really, really entertaining. And we also have friends who have played over there. You know, Caitlin Ford is over there I played with her at the Portland thorns. You have Ellie Carpenter coming back from ACL tear. It's really exciting to watch and I think we all can't wait for Champions League. A lot of U.S. national scene players have done stints in England over the years, some shorter than others. Is that on your radar, even peripherally at all, the long-term purse bucket list? Yeah, you know, everything's an option. I think about a lot what my career is going to look like, and I definitely don't have any doors closed. Mitch personal England. That is a mind-blowing concept. The real queen finally descending upon the United Kingdom. I do remember interview Sam U.S. when she was in Manchester and she talked at length about how dispiriting the small sheer rose lavelle found their English washing machine. I remember when they were in man city and that is the topic that never came up. But it's good to know. I remember spending like what are the complications and she was just like the washing machines. They are tiny. They are befuddling and they're just imagine the two of them just killing it on the field and off the field just not being able to work out how to get clean clothes. But the other revelation from that interview because CBS likes to keep things bouncy and deeply personal. Your youthful crush on Robin Van Persie did make me curious because we've never talked about this before. Who were your personal on field football idols growing up? Men or women. It's very interesting that you ask that I'm not really an idle person to be quite honest. I see attributes and characteristics that I like amongst multiple players players from different positions, positions that aren't even mine. And I am a bandwagon person. I jump and hop from favorite to favorite. It depends on the time of the day, what the weather is like, who's at the top. So I can't say that I had a particular one. I love this. I love how deeply you've drilled into this. Not an idle person. But a bandwagon person. A 100%. Like what attributes, give us an example of someone who used to watch as young witch person and be like, that, I want that in my game. Marcello, he's just so creative, so entertaining. I've actually found that some of the best games I've had are when I think to myself, be entertaining. And it just brings a different level of creativity that I think he, I think he's the quintessential creative player. He's not even a forward, but he just is. It's crazy. It's just fun to watch. You love it. So Marcelo for sure, Van Persie obviously that header that header will never leave my memory. It's ingrained. It's imprinted. The one against Spain. Is there another? I mean, I see it as clear as day now. I remember sitting in my living room watching that, and I just said, yeah, I'm not good in the air, but that's nice. If I could. That would be what I'm shooting for. But you have to know your strengths. You have to know your weaknesses. The most selling thing, I spent some time with Marcel, and he is a sweet and as lovely a bloat, a Julius human being as you would imagine he would be from judging by his football. What happens when you flick that switch be entertaining? Mentally and also in terms of your plate. I think one you have significantly more fun. But two, you don't look at the game with the same rigid mind that coaching can often make you look at it. Coaches often, they're like, you need to hit this space. You need to hit this pocket. You need to check here, check there, and it's very calculated for them. And it can really put a lens over the game that takes away your creativity. And I think when you think the entertaining, you're thinking about doing the stuff you would do in a pickup game. You know, having fun, things that, you know, you go into your friend's face and you're like, I got you. That's so embarrassing on your part. I love it. And so we can't forget that sports

"And yeah, then the finishing we have Robin Van Persie of fine art. So I didn't get to work with him too much, but he's still got it and he coached us a couple times he'd come in like every couple of weeks and I'd show us a couple of things to do with finishing and just little stuff in the box and it wasn't like all these finishing drills that I've done in my career it's literally just in like tight spaces how he's so good at getting his shot off and cuts and stuff like that. So yeah, I was learning from him and trying to keep developing. I'd be knocking on his door every day. Hey, do you have a 20 minutes to spare? I just want to learn as much as I can for you. Were you surprised at all with the demands of training when you went over because I'm not gonna lie when I first went over? The importance of performing every single day and it had to be your best and if you dropped off a little, you're on the bench no matter what and you're like, do you really great training that extensively? So I'm curious to know how you found our coaches really that adamant about your training and being at your best every single day. Yeah, it is kind of crazy, but now it's like I have those standards for myself and like my first training down here it was the day before a game so it was lighter but I'm so used to fine or like every single day is like you're on top of it exactly how you described it. And I was like I'm going to have to raise the level here in the standards because once you hit those standards you don't want to take yourself away from that.

"Riddle of France too. Yeah. Your boy come on. Describe his midfield trio of Tony Cruz, kazimir and Luka Modrić as the Bermuda Triangle. To get what he means, it's not really like a good thing about middle triangle, right? Well, no, because the ball goes in there and it disappears. Exactly. I love it 'cause it's open to so many interpretations. It's also very much an old school reference. For younger listeners who don't know, it's the triangle between Miami, Bermuda and some other place in the Caribbean, which are all about where boats would disappear, radar wouldn't work, planes as well. It can mean anything, but I like the fact that he's got, I wonder what the next triangle is going to be the Valverde show him any kind of inga triangle. What triangle is that? I'm feeling generous 'cause I'm so psyched to see you again after the holiday jewels. So how I let you gloat about arsenal. Stay spend another ton of money this summer, just as they did last summer, by the way. You're more calling than mister conky, cheap, or whatever, because they're chucking money at this. And they destroyed Sevilla 6 zero in the very prestigious Emirates cup. It was a good performance. It was a really good performance at Seville, not as fit because obviously the Liga starts later. So this is a bit normal. But it was good to see them. Playing like that, I can not for what should be the starting lineup for the game on Friday against Crystal Palace. They were glued up, which is called again, he's been on fire in this preseason clearly settling in very well into the team and you could see what they're trying to do. So it's promising. Again, it's on your friend. It's very easy for you. Not hold you to this. Percent chance arsenal play in the Champions League next season. I really see it 33%. 33% chance. Same as united and so much Chelsea. For me, they're all on the same level. And those spurs of a 100% chance in your book? Yeah, they finished they finished top three. And then sit here Liverpool wherever you can see finished interesting. God, when I am really sure these spiky side and his finger on his return to London are you okay with that? Totally, I saw the video of this, right? He's there and he's signing autographs outside team bus. Some of the best. And somebody says, hey, hey, you can hear like, oh, say good evening. I know they're looking in. Yeah, they're probably making fun of them, and I think what I am really is a complicated character. But yeah, I think he showed the finger, which is an obscene gesture. If I would ordinarily not approved of. But he's also kind of laughing when he does it. People think, wow, nobody got offended. Let's go up and let's move on. It's fine. Who would find mister Roy's pace say Eindhoven win the Dutch supercomputing ix 5 three, I guess Eric ten hunks orphans already missing him, huh? Well I don't know if they do, or maybe they're not just again as radius as PSV who obviously start the season earlier because they've got the Champions League playoffs and qualifiers, so they have to be fit earlier, maybe then Ajax who don't have to play those games. And that's why they look they look really good they look really sharp to be fair and average Frodo for his first game as an as a new ilex manager to replace ten hag as well. Not the start they would have liked. But again, there's a long season to come and at times these are still look great. So I don't think it's too bad even if you lose trophy that would have been good on the mantle piece if you are sure that Alfred Charlotte so Gabby and Rick has come back left Italy to join West Ham a week ago and now another plus size young Italian striker. Alessandro Luca is also going abroad. Yeah, so I thought it was neat because Lucas I don't think he's ever played and say the eye was at peace on long last season. Very young Ajax obviously looking to replace Sebastian Albert, they're going for young players and it's just such a new thing for those of us in Italy to have gang or young strikers going abroad are the weirdly spent like a sort of a complicated development so he spent time at Pixar in many years ago when he was decent method. It's pretty tiny, surprisingly good. So he got Sano Pelé, talking about giant Italian traffic. But this dude's really tall. He's like more than two meters. He's like 6 46. He's like, he's like Peter Crouch size. I am so curious to see to see how he develops. Honestly, I don't know who's advising him. I mean, he's played a few times in under 21s. I'm not going to vouch and say that he's a next big thing, but whoever's advising him says, hey, football's changing. Let's develop if you stay in Italy, you know, you're going to become pina Montana. You're going to continue being loaned out to a bunch of crappy teams and you'll play back to gold and set pieces. And I asked, who knows what you're going to do? Learn a different football. Learn a different language, educate yourself. It's good. And what I really care about, it's good for the entire national team too. Exactly. Let's give the iac Steve Jobs, shall we? Benny Mac. The legendary Benny McCarthy has joined West Ham United as an assistant coach to Eric ten hug. I did not see this coming. No, much to the united, not always time united. But yeah, as a striker coach, it would be, you know, which I love. I mean, I love this striker coach. I think you should have coaches for all the different positions and stuff. And I think he's better when he's been in McCarthy actually teaching the strikers helping the strikers or coaching the strikers. Then when he's feeling level, remember when Phil never was trying to tell Robin Van Persie how to position himself and how to show and I think Robin you can just imagine what we've been told. So welcome Benji McCarthy to England and too much to the United States. And by the way, if you're a Benny McCarthy fan, as I am, are all pal Graham hunter did a very long interview with them, which is just a fantastic lesson. He's one of the more progressive. Interesting people out there without a doubt. "After flying economy for so bloody long suddenly find themselves dancing on the live tour plane, it's remarkable to win this. Yet who has taken over Daniel Levy's brain and is sort of taking over his entire personality. I love this new version of Tottenham, this Tottenham who are willing to spend, do anything to keep their manager happy. It's just these must be halcyon days for the blue and white end of North London. Stephen Burke wine will be taking his covering face with one hand crossing two of his fingers, goal celebrations that I asked, but the player we've not talked about on the podcast have tweeted about him. And he actually retweeted my tweet, which was a very moving emotion, but we've not talked about XL as a way, is richarlison. $70 million to be Kim a Tottenham player plus add ons. What are you make of it? I'm just mostly excited that richarlison follows you on social media, which I think is wonderful. Look, he's a fantastic player. I even think most Everton fans don't begrudge this guy, the move to who presently a team that are a bigger club and. Playing European football. I think it's going to be great to see him play in the Champions League. As well, roger. So I'm delighted for the player and I think it's a very good signing. And you look at that front three. Now Harry Kane, young man son and richarlison and that's pretty lethal. You know, the first part of your answer is what really hurts. The end of the day that there is a food chain of all teams, even within the Premier League and the fact that Tottenham are now pricing away our players shows just how big a gap. There is between Everton and the rest. And I've talked in the past that long length that when Everton players leave us, they are dead to me, almost as a general rule of thumb across the board, but I won't be clear, Richie is not dead to me. Till he scores against us and celebrates that is, he said, generally, I think about this a lot over the past month that he could have, he could have given up last season, but he could have packed up, he knew he would have been fine, even if Everton were relegated. He would have been utterly utterly okay, but week in week out more than any other player outside of Jordan Pickford and Anthony Gordon, he brought that flare throwing fight in his idiosyncratic tenacious, slightly wacky way. Always giving us all falling over a lot and spurs fans get ready for this. You know when a player is thinks they're fouled or is fouled and then is on the floor in agony and as a fan, those first 60 seconds you just stressed out to the max and I work out how long he's going to be out for. You know what that feeling? Yeah, it's a terrible feeling. But it turns when you think that they might not be injured, it sort of turns into annoyance. Yeah, and by the way, to be clear, Richie always gets up Richie. Let's just describe it. Richie heals within seconds from atrocious energy injuries. It heals within seconds and then scores big goals when you need them 53 in a 152 appearances for Everton. I'm going to miss the joy that he feels for the game that was expressed in that pigeon dance it's going to pain me to see him pull out for another team and above all and I tweeted this. He genuinely seemed to get evidence and especially get Everton fans and for that I wish him well and perhaps the thing I love most, my favorite detail is this rich alderson will be banned for his first lead game with Tottenham and he's been fine $35,000 for picking up a flair in the Everton game against Chelsea and throwing it back into the crowd which may be the only victory Everton have over Tottenham all season. Quick note on Everton, we got tarkowski. From Burnley, it means we've got our ear wingspan thing instantly covered. We'll link to everyone who scored goals on loan from Chelsea for other teams who have essentially got zero money and the collapse of Peter kenyon's takeover really is the most important news of the off season so far for everything without new ownership and new ownership is always a gamble. We will not be liquid again, but why are we talking about darkness? Let's talk about light. Let's go about something lovely day. They lead united Tyler Adams league united leads, United States of America, whereas GFP mister Alex Bullock tweeted Tyler Adams. Welcome to New York. Shire. New York and New York so good they named it twice. Yeah. Roger, another move for one of your podcasting mates. I'm beginning to think you're the one controlling the simulation Tyler Adams is heading to lead united to reunite with fellow American Jesse marsh and team up with heat map Jesus Brendan aronson, the 23 year old Adams has signed a 5 year deal with Lee to bought him for about $24 million from ibe Leipzig. What a fascinating time at Leeds United. First up, let's celebrate it. Two young Americans, this movie, I think it happened actually on July 4th, no less linking up. At a Premier League team 23 year old Tyler Adams of whopping us falls New York. Playing alongside 21 year old Brendan aronson of Medford, New Jersey, to be managed by Jesse marsh of Racine Wisconsin for a team minority owned by the San Francisco forty-niners ownership group. What a time to be alive. What? What an incredible moment for the American men's game, David. It's fantastic. I'm not sure leads will be satisfied till they have every state represented somehow in their roster or their back office or across their employee base. It's amazing. They may be more American than the U.S. men's national team. I think it's fantastic. I can't wait to watch them play in the Premier League. My dominant emotion in this moment is to be thrilled for my friend Tyler Adams. I can't wait to see him live out his dreams. In this next stage of his career, I loved. I really loved the photographs of Jesse marsh welcoming Tyler with a hug upon his welcome, which was posted by Leeds along with the captured reunited for a third time. I mean, there are two of them in New York at Leipzig and now in Leeds, what what a wonderful thing to witness and I have to say, the reaction in our mailbag has been predictably incredible. Can you read out one Raven that we got? It was really one from hundreds they would take it away. Yes, greetings, roger davo. I'm a middle school soccer coach from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. I know it well, about 30 minutes from the home of Christian Pulisic. I've actually seen him play a few times in Lancaster city, the past couple of years. I've been a fan of the pod for the past few years, and I need your opinion. When I was a kid, I loved Manchester United because they were good. I especially loved RV, Robin Van Persie. I thought he was the coolest player in the world. Looking back, I only like them because I always beat my brother in FIFA when I played with the united. As an adult, I now realize I'm a bandwagon fan. My dilemma is that I am so attracted to Leeds United. I imagine Jesse marsh driving to practice in a Ford F two 50 XL with Brendon aronson and Tyler Adams waving an American flag in the bed of the truck. So the question is, can I now not root for the successive leads? Roger davo, what are the ethical ramifications of switching my loyalty to a new team, a team, I actually have a connection to, but it

"All right, to the football, a bit of NWSL league curio to start us out as of June 1st, the transfer window is now open, enemies of the air beware. It runs until the end of August. We should expect to see a fair bit of movement in the next 12 weeks as coaches tweak their squads to the demands of the season. For the media, the transfer window is a wonderful chaos rumors, speculation reports flying out all hours. How do you experience it as a player? To be quite honest, I didn't even know the transfer window was today or June 1st. Unless it has to do with my own movement, effie's movement, Christie's movement. Or someone coming to Gotham, I don't really pay much attention to it unless it's just groundbreaking news. A lot of women's soccer Twitter has been whispering hopefully about getting tube in heath back now that she's left arsenal last week ashlyn Harris put in her official Twitter request to get Sam Kerr back to Gotham, is her Mitch per stream team transfer either a player you'd love to get at Gotham or European play you'd love to face in the league. Sam Kerr would be sick. I would love to play with Sam. I think minima would be insane. I think she's so good. It would be amazing to play with her as well. Why just one game both? Gotham. In every regard, but in a league where as we often talk about, you can easily witness a type one little game between the top team and the bottom team. This is a weekend of emphatic wins, starting off with Houston dashes 5 zero blowout against Orlando pride on Friday night pride as of Tuesday morning of suspended head coach and the Cromwell. It's part of an ongoing NWSL investigation into workplace harassment, more details to come, but the win Friday night was all Houston, nichelle prince, with the first hat trick in dash history, Michelle are losing with her first goal in the league, Maria Sanchez, with a stunning pass to set up a Rachel Daly Robin Van Persie diving header, and if there was a puskas award for best passes, that work of art would have won it, but dasha now in second place, they're gaining on San Diego at the top of the table unbeaten 5 straight games, midge, the dash are looking positively 2020 challenge capacity at the moment. And when you look at a team like Houston, who've always been dangerous, but have often fallen short of their potential when they have a run like this, does it inspire you? This league is crazy. I really don't think people understand that literally anyone can win this league at any moment. Unless you watch every single game and realize that every team is very good. Every team can beat any team on a given day. And seeing the dash come out like this, I'm honestly not that surprised at all. They definitely have all the tools to be a top contender. I mean, every team, when they're playing well when they're gelling together, when they're on the same page, when they understand their principles, they can beat another team. So, you know, I'm excited to play them. We haven't played them yet. I definitely want to be the first to beat them. They're unbeaten. Don't we all? I think Michelle prince is so good. I really do. And the thing is, I root for no one to score. Unless it's myself, effie, page, Chrissy. You have to be on my team for me to want you to score other than that. I hope you miss the net ten out of ten times. But in the shell prints, honestly, has a reputation of an angel. She has to be the nicest person who has ever put on cleats in the interviewer cell, and if someone had to score a hat trick and their last name is not purse. I'm happy it's Michelle prince. Elsewhere in the land of emphatic wins, Paul Thorne shut out angel city three del thorns, looking well organized, an angel city suddenly looking, well, knackered. We're taping this Tuesday, angel city go again into the dash tonight, which will be their third game in just 8 days. How hard does this season schedule meds with all the midweek games littered in, not just littered but crushed? Oh my goodness. I mean, Washington spirit, man. They're going on two weeks with two midweek games. I can not fathom, though I may have to. I don't know what our schedule says later in the year. But it's, that is hard. It's really hard, if you're a forward, if you're a winger, you're running like 900 meters of high-speed running. Like high speed running, you're running very fast. You're running maybe 17 to 30 sprints, and you're supposed to do that Sunday, Wednesday, and Saturday, mind you, after a normal Saturday game, you probably don't feel recovered completely until Tuesday. So now you have to play Wednesday and then Sunday, it's just, it's a lot on your body. It's ironic because the best thing to do after a game is to probably get a little lift in. You're actually supposed to get a little jog in, get the blood going, but you're like, no, I'm gonna stay in bed, and I'm gonna have 5 guys, but it's probably not the best idea. So there's two approaches to life and football. But getting back to the football, North Carolina, look much more like their old self Saturday beating racing Louisville three nil for their first win of the season. A bit of a win for Louisville as well. Welcoming doctor Nadia nadim back onto the field for the first time this season godspeed to her. She'll be back on this podcast next week to talk about it, but midge. Before we move on from last weekend, I want to talk about goals, scientifically, objectively, gold of the week by any standard. I mean, you're 21st minute close range wonder which saw Gotham past Washington spirit. And I watched you finish that from close range and it made me wonder several things really first does any part of you have fear of missing as you're about to strike the ball. No, not really, not one of those. If you put that ball on a platter, I think my real concern was hitting the post, which I did.

"Stranger Things have happened. The work permits saying, you know, I said this apart. These ideas post Brexit, you need to work perfectly, blah, blah, blah. He really needs to have coached before and that kind of stuff. Yeah. But there's always exemptions. Of course. Look, your name is Robin Van Persie. The club's name is Manchester United. If united say, we need Robin Van Persie, then I don't think any sane person is going to stand in the way. It's just not a reasonable thing. Especially for an assistant coach role. You know, it's not like if he was becoming the number one with no coaching badges or not work pay me nothing. I don't know. Another huge wing for Jesse marsh and leads united jewels to walk between now. Are we comfortable enough to definitively say they're safe? And can we congratulate Jesse Marshall? I think we should congratulate Jesse marsh well done Jesse. I think despite the skepticism when you arrive from a lot of people in this country, he's done he's done really well to study the shape as an always he's always been quite wonderful to be fair. Some really wins at some point played with your heart if you are. But I think he's done great. There's so many different better than they were in the last few games of galsa, for example. And the only bad thing I guess was rafinha celebration where he tried a new slide and then he got stuck on the line, right? Like he got tripped over the line. But apart from that, it's really good and well done, Jesse. Well, don't just marshmallow yucky though. Princeton kind of losers. No. Juventus big Cagliari where two one after going a go down as palo de bara conjures up some magic for two suns love, which is when a guy that's 6.5, you sure that out of the title race. Well, look, it's not the 6 points. You can make up 6 points in 6 games, right? Three teams in front of you. They're not all going to screw up every week to make it easy for you. Obviously dibala, tremendous pass. And you did very little until that point. Moyes Ken was about to come on. This is reignited the whole thing because Robert goes and hugs him and was like, oh, but look. Keep him keeping. Like I said, you've it. You do what you're playing this correctly. Yeah. You keep on your terms, which are not his terms, because now he's not justified that. Yeah, no, he's terms coming up. I don't think the ballot is going to have this huge market. Exactly. I really don't. We agree. Darwin Nunez scores a hat trick for Benfica in the three one win over Bill. I'm glad you say that because when I brought up Darwin unions back in October, you're like, oh, what are we talking about Darwin unions? I don't know, nice. Nice relevant. It was not back in people you mean is when facts change opinions change. Jules, it's 31 goals and 36 games for him this season and he's being linked with every big club in Europe on the back of a €70 million valuation. This makes sense to you, but excessive. Massively. No, no, no, well, I think, yeah, it is a bit expensive, I guess, for someone who's had scored 6 league gold last season. Yeah, and just before that I was almeria in the Spanish second division. So I understand, but it's so good. You just need to look 5 minutes. I played well against Liverpool, so you're like, no, it's not just Liverpool in the group stage with fantastic. He's been a strong, he's good. He will improve, I think, technically on the board, but he's a good finisher. What a player. I've got no doubt the big movies coming this summer. Then we'll see why it goes. But I can see why English clubs. I came because I think he would fit perfectly in the Premier League. Are we seeing a return? Remember last year when we all talked about, oh, there's 5 great center forwards in the world. It was hauling and Kane and Lewandowski. And in Benzema and barbecue. I'm wondering, are we seeing another little mini generation? Oseman. Abraham mentioned somebody who doesn't play in Italy. You're right, coming through. I think this is good and there's only the future and dominion is part of that..

"You want to talk about a long time. They're still in it. They're still 66 points. But the margin of error keeps compressing. And it's hard for them because remember last season, they lost their playing Verona side with nothing to play for and they screwed that came up and so miss out on the Champions League. A couple of years ago, they were in the driving seat and then they screwed up at the end of the title. So it's working in their heads. Yeah, definitely. They rest some players, and there's another Gareth Bale appearance. Yeah, they're easy, came on, and then he gets boot. And that makes him smile, you know, good reaction, I guess. Instead of losing your shares, this was a game where it was terrible. Yeah, never really a threat or anything like that. Good to win. Good to rest people and focus on the Chelsea second leg. Verona tune. Of course, similar again to the romulan one to be fair, which means that if they win their game in hand against Bologna, they will go top, gab are now the favorites for this area. I'm hesitating to say that my policy now is when I mask this because I'm in the way. I'm just going to go and I'm just going to point to whoever has the most points at the table at the time and say it is a favorite. You have to understand it's Bologna. It's by no means a given as Leland found out when they play Bologna. They certainly played well. I think people look at this. It's like, oh look, maybe you basically must be great. Yeah, but you've battered them. Let's not forget. This isn't all of a sudden. Everything's coming together for them. But those are three really, really big points, and a really, really big boost for Simon zagi. Jules, sometimes we get sponsors who come back into our lives like once lost lovers. Football manager and I go way back to the days when it was called championship manager. And now it's back. Football manager 2022, so many options feel so real. I'll play with piaget, of course, and I'm retrying hard to win the first Champions League, of course. And I am almost guaranteed at some point that I'm going to win and lift the trophy for my club. So I think just for that, you play with PSG. You're supposed to hold content as you start off with some regional what you want. Well, that is a thing. You can do what you want. You pick the teams, you pick the strategy. There's so many variables these days, transfers, matchday management, you're making the calls, you own the results. I'd like to comment beaten by relegation threatened Majorca who scored a penalty. Jules did they look past them to the big champions in class with city or is this really just that likely right now? If you have to take the game to the opposition, oh, I can't do that. They had the ball and then they had one shown target. They didn't create anything. I thought we started. And I thought after the display you can see that we disagree a little bit on where you thought they did what they had to do. I don't think so. But you say, okay, they go to Majorca, even away from home and you say, okay, let's show that we can also attack and create and score. And instead, it's a terrible performance. And I'm like, what are you doing? And that's not that kind of reassure you before the second against city. That worries you more than anything else. And I'm watching that game and I'm like, well, no, you're fighting for top four. You know, you're fighting to stay in touch with Sevilla and with Barcelona and behind you, there could be betties and so should that you're not playing well and you're losing and then you lose against Majorca. You're like, I don't know if I agree. I think he has a strategy for city. I wouldn't be surprised if in the return leg. It's more of the same. More of the 5.50 because city will continue. To try and play an attack and maybe you make something and then 20 minutes to go. 25 minutes ago? No. Do you throw on Suarez and Konya and whoever you want? You thought, oh yeah, yeah, they're ready for the city second leg. No, I just thought they didn't care about this game. They know they're going to finish top four. Behind me really didn't care. I think you really kind to them. Really. Want two needles to guard on Friday night. The story is injury as well and much injury as well. That looks a long layoff, especially for Anna. Yeah. He was crying love him. I know. It was actually just two minutes of video game. It was really, it was really not nice to see. And obviously, I mean, I don't think this imperils his World Cup, obviously don't imperil his preparation for it. I need just like you need a hole in the head and union Bryant came onto where the goals, I think if you're Dortmund, you just want this season to end. Honestly. We did fine. Holland played with painkillers as well, which would be better than that. And just come to an end, figure out how you're going to spend the whole money where he goes, take a long, hard look at yourself, take stock. Ask yourself questions and maybe you're not as smart as you thought you were. And I'm talking about the people above figure out what you want to do with Marco rosette. This is your job between now and the end of the season. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Life is speed up hoffenheim and your boyfriend. Again, all coming together nicely. One point from third place. Incredible. I looked at the disco's average point since it took over something like two 20. But again, which is as many, almost as Niagara's men. Yeah, and where more than rosa adornment is great. I mean, you can come up, you can at me come and debate the Christopher and cook who is by far the player of the season in the Bundesliga. I don't care about your level of skills or your mother's or your mustaches or whoever you want and conclude has been the best player in the league by far this season. And one of the best in Europe, the development, really. And I would want confirmation to better clip soon at the next season of the season after. But he's development has been just incredibly best French player in the world after in bapa. Exactly after Kareem, the dream and Kylian, but incredible. And I'm so happy for him and for Leipzig because you remember I was a bit skeptical with the disco, you were far more abate and you were right and I was wrong, but I'm glad to see them playing. When they play like that and even when someone like sober slide, who doesn't actually start much for the disco, you know, starts now and has a great game. You realize that he's made that squad better, not just the starting 11 or starting 12. So well done to them. Everybody's saying united are closer to picking Eric ten hag for next season. So maybe it's inevitable gap that other stories come out like the ones suggesting Leipzig my tent, ten hag instead, all the one that says that Robin Van Persie won't be able to be on ten hikes, coaching stuff because you won't get a work permit to join in my united. I mean, why would Leipzig want to get rid of telesco now and get ten Huygens? Both of these stories are so stupid. I don't even but I will address them because they're in the media. I have no idea why the Leipzig would possibly want to hog. It's not that they think the desk goes out. God's gift to football. But equally, it would be a very unlikely move to go and get somebody else, especially from another big club. Like I actually got the Champions League, why would you think ten hogs are like, oh, Amsterdam is too exciting for me. Let me go and move to light blue, which is a much better project. I don't want to use the word. Leipzig to mean I've been there is a place that rhymes with the word bump, okay? No, honestly, it makes Manchester looks like. Oh my God, stop with it. So to me, this is not a story to be taken seriously. It could be wrong..

"The packed holiday football calendar in 2010, included one of the season's plum fixtures. Arsenal versus Chelsea, a London Derby, but a match of much wider significance. Defending champions Chelsea were languishing down in fourth position with no wins in their last 5 league matches and arsenal were only a point in a place better off. So it was a great opportunity for Carlo Ancelotti's men to get their season back on track, but arsenal were looking to take advantage of an equilibrium that seemed to have been disturbed at Stanford bridge by the unceremonious sacking a popular assistant manager ray Wilkins. Meanwhile, Austin benger admitted halting a barren run of 11 games in all competition without a victory over their closest rivals, Manchester United and Chelsea would prove a massive psychological lift as they bid to secure their first silverware since 2005. Well from the side that lost one mil to united last time out, wenger made 5 changes. Captain says fabregas returned after a succession of hamstring problems had kept him out. Lucas fabianski resumed in goal, joam juro was prepared to Sebastian's skill at defense. While an attack Theo wolcott and Robin Van Persie replaced marrow and schmack and Andre a shavin. The visitors finished strongly against spurs the last time they played, so it was very much the core of that team. In midfield, Ramirez dropped out to accommodate the return of Frank Lampard who started his first match following a four month absence with a groin problem. Former gunner Nicholas andelko was ruled out with a sore knee. His replacement Didier Drogba had never lost to arsenal and in 13 appearances and scored 13 goals. So with the big freeze having relented, which manager would go home with that warm sense of relief. Paul Walsh and Martin Tyler, we are commentators. Arsenal capable of such exhilarating football and determined to show their qualities in a match. With a massive profile such as this one. The Chelsea have won the last four Premier League. Matches against the Gunners. Here's Katie on there. He has kept his place. It's a skeleton who's lost out to duro. That's maybe a bit more physique to deal with the dropper factor. As Roman Van Persie just caught the Chelsea striker. Just to get involved. His return to the starting lineup. Fantastic. Certainly feel that's a side down the left with Nazi. When I can get out for error. Really failed tonight, the first goal was important. Because the name for booster confidence that might be coming here for Robin Van Persie will in the end of it. Good enough to put him off really. Well, there's that little pull of I'm talking about Van Persie is a great rice a fantastic pass is onsite. I just think that it's just gets a foot out and pushing off and it's just enough in the end. Just clips him off seeing it onto his foot. Considerable relief for better check in the Chelsea goal at hand press he didn't make anything of that. Lampard is the. Top 5 Ferreira SEM. Clip by Terry. Ashley Cole in, but he didn't get the angle for the left back. Not even close. That's why he's just trying to stand it up now, she Carly times has runs to perfection off that left hand side in the back of the defense very hard to pick up. I mean his first season here, of course. It's got that forward to good effect. And drop that. Really, probably shoots against arsenal and expects to score every time. He hasn't scored this time. A four pointer first place comes out to drop back and straight away you thinking this is a danger, Kalu on the outside just takes your attention of the defender, jiro and drug that decides to pull the trigger, but just pulls it past the far post. There is jury. Disaster three has been sent off twice. He scored a goal. Putting himself to the regular birth in the side. Faber gas. Some drifting it bending it out to Sami nazare. This season so far. Lovely flavor between vampires and nazare. They're starting to climb some style. Well, that's fantastic imagination arsenal. Just you can just see it here. Little give it a setback. He's on cypher. And he goes for tremendously hard won on an angle going for tower and there's nowhere near it. Walk up. On the outside. The chest of Terry's giving it straight to walk up. And trying to check was suddenly having to deal with the situation. So might have taken him by surprise because John turret at the ball got away from him here. He knows he can't dive in on more fun. I think check does very well getting out and making himself big and getting the block. Right by George Sanya. Is there again he's never shy of getting his share of defending. The chance maybe for Chelsea to break. This has been like this for some time. They've had a lot of defending to do in the last 15 minutes or so. That's it. That's his crossing. She's still limping, taking down by Van Persie. One of those who came charging back aware that Chelsea might be about to hit as well on the break. NASA. I'm perfect. World Cup can come back out to Sanya here. Also looking dangerous again. Sonya, again. Wonderful side. Really pretty improvised effort. Meant by an inspired piece of goalkeeping. Absolutely fantastic attempt just trying to think over the top a great, one handed save just got back in time and made the ground I'm just got his fingers onto it. Great attempt at a very good save. SEO. Hunted down by sorry, so I had to give her a free kit trying to get the ball back. I seem to have one again. He's been quite quiet. I'm proud to understandably feeling his way back into his first start for four months..

"No, let's go through this. Because we always talk about clubs, you have an old guard and they are important players and their veterans and they have pull, right? Yeah. I'm wondering who are these people at the club and should the club listen to them, right? So obviously the leadership group or the equivalent that they have, captains, vice captains, that's what they do. I don't know. I don't reach a download is going to ask hey, who do you fancy next season? Okay. Personally, I don't think Richard Arnold was asking them. I think this is all from Fletcher and this other group of people. But I was thinking about it. If you're going to effectively reboot, which is what's going to happen in the summer, right? Probably likely leave you, right? Who are these senior players who are so important and you say, yeah, I really want to listen to him. You would think this down a rondo because you had a lot of money tied up, but the guy only has a year after this. So you're not necessarily going to say, oh yeah, I know. You make it about you, right? Yeah. Cavani's a similar situation. Is gone, right? Maguire is your club captain. I don't know to what degree you want to listen to this guy on anything. You're at a point where you spent money on it on and I think at a point where if a new guy comes in and says, you know what? I don't want another starter alongside alongside varan, who's not Maguire. I think you're going to get it right. The case to be made that. I was seriously who has the authority longevity. Someone like the air striker is somebody who's going to speak up. Maybe there's a difference between speaking up and being asked a question for example in the meeting, let's say, with Fletcher John murto, maybe even rang Nik who I think knows now, he's not going to be the next season on the bench. I mean, he's going to go upstairs. I don't know that he wants to be there next season on the bench. So I think you know, so maybe he's part of the meeting. And then you bring you bring players like the head. Luke Shaw, I find it hard to believe so he's one of the leaders in I know he's a senior player per se. Rashford, the missing man, Bruno, I think Bruno will be there. But my issue is more like, okay, on the basic, if you brought a fan on this, you say, I really, really would like most of Pacino next season. On one ground. Could the ground that you watch PSG play this season and you say like, I love the way they play. I want that here. Do you remember why he did a spurs? You know the guy personally? Or you don't, because if you've never spoken to pochettino. Yeah. What would you say I would rather poach than ten high? Exactly. On what basis do you say? Because this is the juxtaposition, right? Because the way it's been reported is that ragnarok wants ten, presumably again. It's this German Dutch thing in Chicago. Is also German. So he must, whatever. This is fine, right? And I speak as somebody who loves what you know I think she was phenomenal. I think you guys are getting a hard drive. Yeah, yeah. Oh, I'm the guy, as you know. I'm on team parchment. But to me, it's just this idea, this story, right? The way these stories put out. This gives you a good sense of what is going on at the club. That we're asked to believe that the senior players, who the hell are they? Why should I know who is so important at this club that I need to listen to them that I need to put way to their positions. Right now, this isn't ten years ago, where it Fergie had left, you'd want to or 15 years ago, dating myself. You'd want to listen to what Roy Keane and Gary Neville did because they've been there. They've done that. You know they're there. You know they're committed. You want to listen to them. This is what I find absolutely extraordinary. We put these stories out. If I were completely suspicious, I would imagine that it's pochettino's who may be used to work for a club in the Premier League who now does stuff for him. I don't know, but I wonder about this. I wonder about this. I wonder about the story. And when it comes out at the same time, in every media outlet, you know, what is going on? Yeah, yeah, definitely. We just do this to give you some context if you're united if you're not to me it's fascinating how these stories got out. Another story like this, which is going to be in our notebook on Friday with more detail. Concerns Chris Armas. Chris Armas is former U.S. international. Right next assistant, work with him and Leipzig I think it hoffenheim two, maybe. Former coach and I'm a less if I'm not mistaken. Training sessions. They're not keen on him. Which we heard before and we're hearing again. You're right on the website on Friday. I don't know, okay, some players are going to like level and remember that the story with fina and Robin Van Persie and et cetera and feel never trying to tell Robin von persi how to score goals. I don't know how Chris Amazon is every day with them. In my I don't know if he's training sessions are really dated and old school and I would find it hard that I created black monster united and someone as intelligent and rough frankly with all the faith and confidence that he has in his friend Chris, we're bringing someone who can not make those players work hard, keep them interested, have drills or training that is actually for a reason for a purpose. You don't just do drugs like this. You do drinks because you want to work on some patterns of player. You want to work on certain aspects of the game, or you want to work on something that you're going to do in the following game of the weekend or on Tuesday night in this case. So I'm starting to see what he does that they don't like or unless he's really, really dreadful, which is possible as well. It's possible like this. Yeah, at some point, chosen. Yeah. Rang Nick knows I'm writing this work for him. To me, when I hear these stories, they're usually from disgruntled people and so on. To me, because the story becomes interesting when the team is doing badly under rangnick, and then you look back. What are the reasons? Could it be that this guy doesn't know how to run training sessions? I look at performances. I don't think the performances are terrible. I think the performances are actually better than they were under the previous manager, certainly in the last three to four months. And therefore, you know, hey, were you having more fun under with Michael Carrick training sessions? They would be happy with Kim and my kid, Makena's character. They're not happy with anybody. I mean, I would pay no attention. Final point on this, and I'm biased here because obviously I do not have, I have an American accent. Chris army gets called Ted Lasso, right? Chris Harmon is obviously is American. By the dressing room. Yeah. This is what's being reported in the story..

It really is. I totally agree. He has pretty much been this consistent player for years now for them and yeah the years The age has not really worn into that. The he made his his primarily debut. He was twenty seven. Looks like when leicester twenty seven. Yeah that's unbelievable so he's done all this in less than a decade On he only left fleetwood town and twenty twelve to join leicester agent credible stop. It is now. I wanna talk a little bit about lesser Just beyond only him Because they they gotta draw out of this one and it's been a little bit of an uneven start to the season for them and i wonder you know we all the thing. We always talk about them in their quest to remain one of the big boys despite not having that kind of budget you know is if like that kind of tired lester conversation of depth and just at what point is it going to affect them. Brennan rogers talked a little bit about that. You didn't necessarily say that it's a problem but you know he did mention after this game. The injuries to you know not having for fauna johnny evans. What that does to their shape They're asking a lot from cnn. Shoe and vestergaard. Jane's justin is still working his way back from ligament damage back in february Johnny evans i think we be. He was on the bench. I believe for this one so he will be back. Relatively soon but for font is not coming back this season so already were in the early stages of the season. They already have injury problems in the back. And they're trying to do this. Wall you know. Maintaining their form in the premier league and being threat in the league as well. So it's it's going to be hard for them and that kind of speaks to what they're going to need from jamie vardi because he's the reliable veteran who can just no matter what keep scoring goals and you know. We'll see if he's able to do it throughout the course of the entire year because they're going to need it it it's it's not going to be as easy for them. I think i agree. One of my bugbears also emerged in this game for charity. second goal. nick. Pope goes a wandering sometimes. The goalkeeper should just do nothing. Just stay where you are. It was it was just dreadful. I'm very you could see baddies. Face he was like whoa. Whoa okay perfect. Now he slides it in from. You know a fairly difficult angle but not for a striker like variety. I don't think sean would have been happy. Are happy with the fact that they thought they'd won the game at the death on the for to intervene. Yeah tough one. For for poor sean. Also brennan rogers. Something and i saw him talk about was that he was there. Were some boos when he took Animal look off. And rogers basically said you know things have been so good since he got there that that hasn't had to happen but he thinks he tried to you know in his way. Put a positive spin on the fan of doing that decision. We love the character of the funds when they us choose passion. Yeah it's essentially it. That's pretty much what he said. All right one more. And then we'll get to danny higginbotham. Okay let's do it all right. Jj our last one here. What's the deal with everton. Just teasing their fans again. I didn't get this one. Because i feel like this is kind of a thing that everton do where they have like these strong they they have these great patches of play and see their fans kinda get hooked and then things happen and next thing. You know they're nice. Ten aleta. And i wonder so right now. Everton are tied for second in the league. Four wins in six just one loss. One draw their fifth on goal difference but on points to tied for second right now and you look at the teams that there with them. The united city like and chelsea. It's an effort and then everton so like. Is it happening again now. Here's where i would caution everton fans to get too excited. Be excited by all means. This has been a start that is probably exceeded some expectations. I know there was not enthusiasm around rafa coming in his the manager. They didn't do a haunted transfer window. They just lost hans rodriguez so like be happy with where they're at right now. Certainly but i would say this therefore windsor southampton brighton burnley norwich their losses aston villa. Their draw is leads. They haven't really played anyone yet. Lie and i don't mean that as a slight to brighton. They played brighton. They beat brighton. and brighton. have had a good start to the season. But like you know if they're going to they've gotten off kind. E e easy so far in terms of what their fixtures are now in fairness to them. We didn't know that they would be like if i were to say as long as everton beat the teams are supposed to beat then. They're going to be a good team this year but coming into the season we didn't really know who the teams are. That everton we're supposed to be are they. Just kind of mid-table mush themselves. They've shown at this point who they are and that you know some of those teams that we weren't sure they should be beating. They are only southampton teams. Like that. So i give them credit. They've they've established themselves kind of back closer to where we thought they would be. You know a from everton of a couple years ago but eventually it's going to get harder Their next couple of games. I think they have manchester united west. Ham are there next to so we'll learn a little bit more about them. And i saw are so good. I think andrew common off with three defeat aware asked him villa comprehensive beating from villa and then going out of the league cup. Qpr attune a home win against marriage was if that'd gone the other way i think we'd be having a different conversation about everton right now. It's very early. Don't forget though you're on about the them being teased again. I mean the ultimate tease was to be second at one point at christmas last season in december. So so yeah right. That's what i'm saying. Yes this is a familiar look. I'm not. I'm i actually. Don't aware am with them yet. I don't i like you know. I like raffin. I think he can. You can get results but Just not sure about this squad yet we will. We will have to see how they weather everton west ham and then wofford which will be interesting games. Yeah certainly all right. We'll go ahead. We'll take a quick break. Jj when we come back on the other side. Danny higginbotham is gonna join us. You're not gonna wanna miss that. Don't go anywhere more. Yeah i don't think sean would have been happy. Are happy with the fact that they thought they'd won the game at the death on the for to intervene. Yeah tough one. For for poor sean. Also brennan. Rogers something and i saw him talk about was that he was there. Were some boos when he took Animal look man off. And rogers basically said you know things have been so good since he got there that that hasn't had to happen but he thinks he tried to you know in his way. Put a positive spin on the fan of doing that decision. We love the character of the funds when they boo us. Choose passion yeah. It's essentially it. That's pretty much what he said. All right one more. And then we'll get to danny higginbotham. Okay let's do it all right. Jj our last one here. What's the deal with everton. I mean are they just teasing their fans again. I didn't get this one. Because i feel like this is kind of a thing that everton do where they have like these strong they they have these great patches of play and see their fans kinda get hooked and then things happen and next thing you know. They're nice ten aleta. And i wonder so right now. Everton are tied for second in the league. Four wins in six just one loss. One draw their fifth on goal difference but on points to tied for second right now and you look at the teams that there with them. The united city chelsea and chelsea. Don't forget though you're on a about the them being teased again. I mean the ultimate tease was to be second at one point at christmas last season in december. So so yeah right. That's what i'm saying. Yes this is a familiar look. I'm.
