"Came Scott Robin's okay. Good news with the vaccine, right if there is That's what we're hearing more and more okay, there's more on the way to warn people are getting vaccinated. Two thirds of people are not happy with the rollout. Well, Johnson and Johnson's gonna enter the fray. Have all of that, right? Yeah. And so I mean, it's time for NBC in the Today show to bring on Mr Fauci, Doctor vouches. Here to talk about the state of things right now and where we're at and hey, we got a gold here that we want to get to buy spring, right? Are we on our way? Is the rollout going to improve? Now? You know just where are we? If you compare now to what we were doing just literally a month ago. Theo escalation has really been considerable. I would imagine. In fact, I'm fairly certain that as we get into and towards the end of April, you'll see some of the implementation of what you just showed, namely pharmacies. Community vaccine centers, mobile units really stepping up the pace of vaccination, so I believe we're on target. We are on target of what the president said. And hopefully as we get into the early spring will have a much greater acceleration of dosage. Okay before we go on from there Yeah. Help me real quick. Especially from your news background. David, You have a great memory of this stuff. What has been the problem with the rollout. Has it been? You know Fizer, Madonna, they could only make so much a day. Just there's just not enough vaccines because in states Where the role of the rollout has been really criticized. And it's been really slow. They said. Well, hey, it's not our fault we having. We just can't get him. Yeah, Then you look and that same state that will be grabbing and moaning. You look and it's like, well, they've only given out 17% of what they have. Yeah, I mean, so I think there are a whole lot of things that are going on supply certainly is an element of that It seems because states are hesitant to. They're basically frozen in fear because they don't feel like they're going to get Re upped in supplies, so they're holding off on some vaccines. They want to make sure that they have a second dose available for people like that for all for people who have gotten their first dose. Initially, but the supply is only a part of it. A lot of it has come down to really strict rules that The good news is our being abandoned in places like California, New York Just off the top of my head. Those two come to mind. But let's make, but nobody's used and nobody's used up all of their doses, though we're not going to pretend to be an expert, okay? Just Common math. Help me here. If you say you've only given out 17%. It's like, Wow, We gotta be careful here. We've got to get out those second notices. Okay, save 34%, then. You still have a lot that you haven't given out. We know what the love. But if you have a governor that then says Well, we just can't get it. We can't get the supply right? And also it's the walk Nous come alive again. Certain percentage is set aside for this part, certain percentage is set aside for that part. Even if you don't have participation in those areas. You're not allowed to give it to anyone else because they don't match the criteria of woke nous. This has got a lot to do with it. I mean, they're moving it from place to place like underserved communities have to have X number of shots. That's not the way it's supposed to go by the list of who gets it. I understand that, but that's the way it's rolling out because you hear that from a lot of different governors right now, okay? It's not all critical here. Everyone's well. Savannah Guthrie does a good job. Hey, nice Savannah. Glad you asked that follow up and real quickly on that only just zero in on it. You mean for everybody. The general population go into your pharmacy getting it a shot. You have to be in one of those risk groups. Well, you know, Savannah, we have those priority. One a one B one. See if you look at the projection I would imagine. By the time we get to April, that will be what I would call for, you know, for better wording open season, namely virtually everybody, and anybody in any category could start to get vaccinated. From then on, it would likely take several more months. Just Logistically to get vaccine into people's arms so that hopefully as we get into the middle and end of the summer, we could have accomplished the goal of what we're talking about, namely the overwhelming majority of people in this country having gotten vaccinated. Okay? Even that's sort of a head scratcher because if it's open season It's that mean it's still by appointment or you just call the pharmacy. Who knows? Depends on the state you're in. Yeah, I think at that point you'd really be looking at what does the supply really look like? You know how many? How many doses does hospital or pharmacy A, B or C? Actually getting how many appointments can they make and fulfill? That's where the supply thing comes. I think again if you're looking at The way that this was rolled out in so many states in so many states waited so long to actually correct the problem that they had set up for themselves. If you had just gone in And made it broader. Like hey, everyone over the age of 65. You're eligible for it, and then it's like, OK, everybody with pre existing conditions, you're eligible for it. But instead you got all these people who want to just zero in on little on. Well, we gotta have educators. Well, what about educators? K through five or whatever. L I'm going to get to them. What about prisoners? What about You know what? Here's the thing. Look at Florida, and they got ripped on for using the grocery stores, different.

"So it's fifty seven percent. It's pretty good. So now we have an idea about how level or not level this plane this it's a little bit of a flawed way to concoct top one hundred. So I'm not going to get terribly worked up about this but before I get to all of your points, allow me to say once again I have nothing against Aaron Donald Personally I listen I know he's fired back at me on twitter. I like you. You're a good guy. You're a great guy by all appeared everything I've heard this is really a fine human being he is a team leader a team. Pillar. For the Los Angeles Rams and I'd take nothing away. Right. But you're not better than Patrick Mahomes. He ranked third to to mahomes north and several years he's won. I'm like, how can you do enough at your position by virtue of your position and I don't want to pile on to Aaron Donald Bits of quick point I've watched four times. He's played my Dallas cowboys in those four games. I. Turn OFF MY TV thinking. Wait was he heard today I don't remember him. He has zero sacks and four games against my cowboys including a playoff game in his four playoff games that he's played. He has a half a sack. It's not like he's Reggie white it's not like obviously he's launch Taylor Charles Haley where he just jumps off your TV screen you say Lawrence Taylor took the whole game. Over, they couldn't block off the edge they used to happen with me and Charles Haley. When he was a cowboy I'd say they can't block him they put thirty people don't even they can't stop him from getting a hand on the quarterback. Okay. So enough of that, he's still a great guy and he's really good at what he does. He just not better than Patrick all. Now back to Patrick Mahomes. If the balance went out around Thanksgiving. His year. Last year to me is regular season wasn't great. It was very good but it wasn't great. It wasn't nearly as great as MVP season. So if we're prisoners of that Thanksgiving time moment maybe early December moment maybe you're looking back at we five and six, he lost back to back home games Padua Mom's in Kansas City lost they lost to Indianapolis and he scored a grand total of thirteen and then he got out played by Shawn Watson the. Very, next week in his QBR's were no good and their average those games. But by his standards, there are fifty one and fifty, four and two Sean had a ninety one against him and beat him thirty one to twenty four. Okay. You don't think that sticks in the minds of some of these voters. Yes. Cuba and like you said like I said, we Stephen we read an article say that we're not between November April but to your point with the things. If that's the case what happened in November of two thousand eighteen the was on a historic season but but the the definition, the way it's printed across the top of the ballot is we're looking for the best one hundred right now. Yes. Okay. So it's right now. Okay. You could factor in recent his. Favorite, remember business the second year he's been his four. Okay. Yeah so think about he went five. If we thought what he was doing, we hold on there was a three hundred because remember he started sleeping on the road in three, four, five, six down again, Pittsburgh, and so that's what's confusing if you said, okay, we'll take it at right now this season. Okay. I'll give you. Okay because he got hurt and like you said, he had those two down game. He was coming up with the injury, but you can't excuse what happened in twenty eighteen because he was head and shoulders above everybody else. Okay. So forth and four. Okay. So then what happens in the playoffs to your point he had the historic comebacks but what do you always throw at me when I say well, Dad kept fighting he he had huge third and fourth quarter and you say we'll did he play the first two quarters. We'll did mahomes play the first two quarters when he fell behind twenty four to nothing right at home in a playoff game and then to Houston obviously, and then he fell behind seventeen to seven and they roared back both times one fairly convincing right both times but he did not play well early, and then he played very well late and. He was lucky. They were at home and it just erupted on the visiting team and the sky fell right? Okay and they came back and won both those games did in the Super Bowl. They trailed twenty to ten for much of the second half and what happened I'm going to remind you again just again I'm not I'm not trying to knock Patrick Mahomes. I'm trying to keep him in some perspective. He wasn't great in that super. Bowl you have to admit late in the third quarter they're down twenty to ten and he threw an interception if we could see that and it was a pretty ugly interception, it was. I mean, it looked like he threw it right to the forty nine. Okay. So. That's the first one. Here we go again. He's looking for tyreek and it was a bad idea run just didn't see the back right Robin Okay did we early fourth quarter on the next possession they're still down twenty the tin and I thought this was game over for the the chiefs and here's another one and it's just low and outside it's behind it's tyreek again yep and it's a That's a really bad throw inner super bowl in a crucial moment and all of a sudden it looks like they're going to be behind twenty seven to ten at that. Twenty is twenty. Twenty seven to ten and I thought Oh this game over and then they get all the way backed up as you might recall, its third fifteen at thirty five with seven thirteen left in game. So it's getting late, and here he goes he's got a Russian his face and he throws a punt to tyreek for which he has to stop come back and wave for a fair catch. That is not a great throws. You can't tell me that's great. Play cast a comeback either two guys in NFL that could have completed that dropping. Off Their back foot and throwing the ball down the field. He Aaron Rodgers. Only. Two guys that could have done that in that moment, retreating off their back foot throw the ball. I still say it was a lucky throw. It was up for grabs some if somebody had been dropping in shall zone, they might have just picked that ball off. He was fortunate. tyreek was all alone in the flat and caught it for. Forty four yards and it changed the game it turned it completed. You call time he went to the sideline he adds do we have time for WASPS? And AIRBNB WHO's off into coordinated he looks at Andy. Loss I. saw that last night. Shot. Now, who Michael Jordan did right he told Steve Kerr you going to be there he told John. Packwood. You GonNa be there instead I'm going to throw a punt and then you come back and wait for it just waiver catch and maybe they will tackle That's out. Came across to me. So how lucky was either in the fourth quarter Jimmy G. who is ranked pretty high on this list shockingly high. Jimmy went three for eleven for a grand total of thirty, six yards with an interception and missed Emmanuel Sanders with a minute half left wide open at the goal line. Missed him or maybe we're having a different conversation skip a. here's the thing if we look if we'd look at Tom Brady in two, thousand, sixteen against the Falcons Tom Brady was not great the entire. Gain though he was great when he needed to be so the great players is not about being great for the entirety of a game regardless of the sport is not about that. Can you be great when your team needs you the most Patrick Mahomes with great when they needed it in the most win Lamar Jackson and just not not the Lamar, when his team leader Tennessee he.

"Similar semester this is Hayley Williams. Her album is called pedals. For Armor. In the song we're listening to is called simmer and NPR music. Serena Charles is going to join us to talk about this. When Hey Serena so. Hayley Williams is of course the lead singer for the band paramore. This is her debut solo album and Serena I know that you are a super mega big fan. Hilly Williams is a titan. She is my favourite musician of all time. And I say that without hesitation or hyperbole there's simply no one who looms larger or means more what I would bet is an entire generation of women my age when paramore emerge in two thousand five and with their breakthrough album. Ryan doesn't seven. She was pretty much. The only high profile woman in Rock and pedals for armor is Hillary Williams First Solo record. And it's been a long time coming. She was originally signed to Atlantic in two thousand three when she was just fourteen years old as a solo artist and had to fight her label to get her bandmates paramore alongside with her paramore's last album after laughter came on twenty seventeen and it was a remarkably different sound for them. It was a lot more pop oriented a little bit of funk and this album has he. Liam's moving in a different direction to it's a lot more subdued. I'd say she has this incredible powerhouse voice and she really doesn't let it rip all too often. She discovered a new herself making this project. But it's such a personal project coming on the heels of serious break-up finding her own identity as women as well as an artist. I think this comes after a couple other albums like song for our daughter. Apples such the bolt cutters. That are really examining a lot of media intergenerational trauma about what it means to be a woman living in our society right now and so. I was thinking what is too personal to be paramore album especially after the last one was so focused on mental health and depression and I was like. Yeah maybe the other band members of Paramore don't quite understand the struggle of being a woman and I love that she collaborated with some outstanding other women artists including the members of boy genius phoebe Bridges Lucy and Jillian Baker. Who are of here on this record. Hayley Williams says the singer debut album is called pedals for arm. Thanks so much Serena thanks Robin Okay. This next one we want to talk about is a really beautiful new one from the artist. Blake Mills out now on May eighth. It's called mutable.

There's a program that seems very sensitive and thoughtful and compassionate and then he's got this wicked wicked sense of humor and sometimes inappropriate but like wonderful yes and I was like Oh that's basically Arthur joker perfect. Wow and you okay with watching yourself onscreen like it's interesting you watch the dailies. I I hadn't been we first started shooting putting the first it was the first week and try to show me the frame just the frame not not even not even playback back. I said No. I don't WanNa see it always felt like I don't. I don't want to know what the cameras doing. I don't want to think of it objectively for me. It's I just want to have the the experience and whatever you do the camera knockers. I WANNA start playing to the camera but he showed me what happened. was there was a scene where I'm supposed to be kicking garbage and he said listen. I'm doing a wide shot and the Minneapolis stunt guy. Do it and I said he talking. I'm back stunt. I got it no problem and so did the first take and garbage and I just stopped down in the wrong way and did something. I don't know what what it was to my need. Just like popped it out actually in that take you see me sitting down and it's because I had tweaked my knee. Oh Wow and down so it was so bad that I can shoot anymore. Can he was like well now. Was that written all in character alright till you thinking trying to get in the mind of second like wasn't in character. I was trying to find very very early on and usually Muesli. Somebody else does that work for the actor because they don't have enough time to fill up a journal but I'd gone to New York a month in advance because I wanted wanted to just be with todd spend a lot of time and rehearse a lot and so is given the journalists that I have the time. I think that I can I can fill this out and so I got the journal along with several magazines we were going to do cut outs of the nagazine that we'd paste in there and initially. I got this journal title and I pulled it a pen. I opened it up and I had nothing to do. We doing and I texted todd. I didn't even know where to begin and he said a minute. Let me send over something and and so tim has got silver at sent over this this story that they imagined with something you might have read about so I started writing that out and just just whatever reason that it opened up something in me and then I just you know every day or just would fill the journal up and and I have a lot of really stupid bad jokes and and so it was perfect for the character and so I wrote I wrote those down the remember he taught it sent me photograph of the the steps that I that I take on to get home. I remember looking at that and you know I didn't have the opportunity to go today that location until we're actually shooting but seeing the image of it was re powerful. I remember that I just wrote step after step after step after Steph and I feel like three pages with step after step and something about doing that fucks you up. I Don Janika shining sort of exactly. Can you remember any of the jokes in there with any classics. You want to no no no no no. That's just the the Journal Fair enough. I just wanted to ask briefly. You pick so many interesting roles in your work. You've got with really interesting. Kristen drew says like poor Thomasson Ramsey and now phillips. How do you choose a row like what's your criteria. Do you have specific criteria or is it more sort of instincts. Also it's very simple. It's just the filmmaker that's simple. Yeah yeah different thirteen like a good actor and my great actor is a great director. It's you know it's simple so yeah. That's what that's what I look for more than and the budget or whether studio independent or what the Jonah is none of those things matter as much as who the filmmaker is and sometimes it's just this is whether you like the person or not with if you like I can spend three months with them and we have a similar kind of idea of what this this could be but yeah. It's it's. It's always maker. I guess if you're spending every waking moment you were with todd then you kind of want to get on with someone like that right yeah for sure yeah yeah yeah. I mean I've been I've been in situations where you didn't really get somebody. I mean awful yeah. I can imagine walking. Thank you so much interest all right so that was Joaquin Phoenix and now is time to round off the show and the time honored tradition of live shows with an audience. QNA Any anything and why the hell would you have have you anything you want to ask these three giggling idiots in front of you then put up your hands and I'm going to take up this microphone and you're GonNa have to come to me because it's a wired microphone and it can only stretch so far so if you come down here unless they're like a comecon style form an orderly queue or his orderly queue. Don't take a leaf the jokers book and hopefully there'd be more than three of you less good excellent all right. I'm coming over now. How are you worried as key fronts the Q. Tossing people that are you were kicking people in the face. It's all good. What's your name Robin Okay. He must like the joker then so what is your question and with Dolly talking earlier about. How can you ever forgive me and Richard E grant famous leaders not imbibe is excellent at playing under the influence. I was wondering because I'm `tatoes last half the empire what some of your favorite performances of under the influence actors would be of drunkenness the kindness or anything. That's a great one of one right off right off Dr Peter O'Toole in my favorite ear. I'm not sure how much he was acting fairness him by he didn't even though I think he's imbibing yeah so he plays this is based on the on Errol Flynn. Actually he plays a very loose matinee idol Allen Swan and believe leave it was also based experiences of Young Mel Brooks so young Mel Brooks and like one thousand nine hundred forty thousand nine hundred fifty or something they got found himself as an intern and one day he was basically given flint. Look after an aeroplane was a hell raiser par excellence and what happened was just madness and so this film portrays that but changes his name to protect the innocent or guilty and so you have mark Linn Baker who if anyone remembers cousin Larry from perfect strangers and also who stars the noises off movie circles circle replays effectively L. Brooks and Peter O'Toole is great like say Louche Guy who's got loads of alcohol running through the saints and it's really really fun really funny and there's a moment bit of a problematic moments now obviously but it was a moment where drunkenly Alan Swann bursts into the ladies toilets to have a a slash and they're too old biddies in there who were stunned by his presence and he's he's got his latte out shy and the lady goes so this is for ladies and he looks down he goes on Madame so is this but I have to run a little water through it now in as the best lines from that film fantastic fantastic so there you go my favorite year. Peter until my answer guys Chris. I was GONNA say Brad Pitt in true romance given that we opened up beyond whole again then he may. I don't know how much method acting going on I don't want to speculate but that is superb high acting I believe I don't know don't do drugs kids. Yeah I would say I like Anthony. Michael Hall's Breakfast Club but more than that he's drunk in weird science when he's when he's is playing with Bill Paxton's face and just falling back. I love that I think it's also Nick Cage and all of us Vegas et cetera heavy. It doesn't really depressing and that's the other spectrum around whereas actually Michael who I think would be on my own problem with Anthony Michael Hall in the breakfast. Sentences should never come anyone else. I'm sorry but I hate the high acting in the breakfast club because they all they all sit around and smoke pot and then they go oh Matt and run around the library. That was an old strain laced with something like since. When is that the reaction that everybody everybody has it's like they were on ecstasy or something? I I don't know don't do drugs drugs. It's always really genuine. It's my least favorite scene in the breakfast club. Bob pissing everything so Richard. The your favorite rubbing yet recent good one. I like the girls book smart with the Straw aw dolls doll. Thank you so much indeed probably everybody. The story of how Richard E grant is not just a teetotaler but he's finally allergic to alcohol and so when he took the role of with Nell he had never really been drunk before but he had to have you wanted to have and Bruce Robinson wanted to have that chemical mem- memory so they went out and got absolutely shit faced he basically recorded the whole thing and it just felt awful like have almost an allergic reaction to this alcohol but it worked out pretty good but women's. I was a hello sir. How are you in high. I'm I'm very good..

"Florida. Show, jamie. Mark David van campus got Robin. Okay. You got more vapor news. David do Mr. anti vague as the resident anti vague propagandist on the show, according to some vague guys, I felt compelled to tell this story and this is actually I think this is going to far California's well, San Francisco's board of supervisors has voted unanimously for an ordinance. It hopes will tackle youth vaping and the problem of youth vaping. They voted to amend the health go to ban the sale and distribution of e cigarettes, not not to minors. But just to everyone you can't sell it in San Francisco marijuana legal. No problem. Yes. If you want a new needle for your heroin habit. Come on down to San Francisco, but if you want to vape, no, sir. That's a no go. Wow. Okay. That's how crazy it is. Man. Yeah. I know we'll get the pro marijuana people. But if you had to choose for your kid, they're just vaping or they're smoking weed. Which what are you gonna pick? If they share the way to the vaping that part of the equation. We'll just saying they're going to eight or they're gonna smoke weed, you gotta pick one or the other do it. It. That's awesome. Man. Oh, from everything. I've read and just commonsense. We'd is much more destructive than just vaping. Yeah. I think the problem though is that if you know, if you get addicted to nicotine, nicotine is a much harder habit to break. So there there are long. But I've seen dudes addicted to weed, not addictive. Yeah. Saying, I'm just saying it's a lot of you. Pull one hundred people what's harder to who have smoked weed and smoke cigarettes. What's harder to kick? We'd or nicotine, most people say it was easier for me to stop smoking weed. Obviously the answer for a lot of people as neither. I get it. Yeah. But that's just how kooky it is to me say, yeah. Oh my gosh, we've got to ban all vaping. I'm wondering if that's gonna change with the availability of we'd now everywhere. Or the availability of it will be much easier to get there for the addiction goes up because it it's not difficult to get now that could I mean cigarettes, part of the problem was everywhere you went you could get them. Sure. I mean they were there all the time and they were legal. So harder to quit. I mean you have more and more people under the age of twenty one where marijuana is legal smoking, marijuana or digesting. Marijuana been before side just wonder if that will lead to the tipping of the scales. But we can't have him vaping cigarettes. I mean you're verboten. I mean, you can't go anywhere and smoke, right? I mean we is. Acceptable. So I don't know. We'll see. That's pretty us to me, Facebook also back in the news. Yeah. Well. I think he's just start with banning Facebook, personally. But that's just me. Would you rather? Have your kid vaping smoking weed, or on Facebook, Facebook. I would like to take Facebook out of the equation. Scientists claimed eight can predict medical conditions. You have all by analyzing your Facebook status updates now. Some of this seems pretty obvious to me, because the people who have a lot of problems in their lives. Love to rant about it on Facebook. Or it's the really annoying. Hard time right now dot dot dot. Just triggering,.

She was did you think his on your cell buzz? Monologue was good. I thought it was great. I loved Idris elba's monologue because he wasn't even stack ended up with jokes. He is naturally likable. And I found myself captivated by his story about what got him here in where he was twenty two years ago. My sister bless her heart. She had her actual job. She went to bad boy records. Now Tuffy was my biggest says peration biggie was my favorite Rapa. But it was a bad time because he had just died. And my sister took me to this big immemorial when everyone was there. I mean, everyone was like. A wax museum where the wax figures were smoking blunts and drinking. Is so surreal. I remember thinking if it's possible for me to be standing in that room right now anything is possible. So I decided I wouldn't give up on my dream and that was twenty two years ago to this day..
