It's too much talent in that game for just be like Friday night. People aren't even really paying attention yet. And the celebrity games right before it or after it one of the maybe after it. Good bye it deserves better than paired with that like USA versus world like keep training talent. So I agree. "Things. Are you know switching in going. Small is is the thing that everybody feels like you have to do certainly a year ago. I was curious. You know how much of the bucks are are. The bucks have issues but wants to play this conservative style but ultimately ultimately up. You know i mean at times they needed to do at times. They did it <hes> with actually some success even though i don't think the early were thrilled about it <hes> but <hes> but yeah i mean i think this this team. I think they can play different styles. As you mentioned i mean you know if they do have the lopez brothers <hes> they can give some different looks given some of the other big that they have and and of course jaanus but i would say certainly especially in the regular season had agreed. I mean it's it's probably going to be a lot of you know traditional kinda kinda lineups and <hes> yeah. I mean robin. I think like is r._p._m. Numbers on the stuff sorta maybe underscores that he's not quite the defender that sort of the the ironic that robbins defensive lopez brother in brook as the offensive one and now it's like yeah i think robin brooke's is just sort of both <hes> is best at both of those things i mean brooke had a tremendous defensive year then again. A lot of that i think was just putting him. In a great position succeed asking him to do things he could do and obviously you and i hope maybe they'll have the same effect on robin see well. Let's just talk about the rotation internal <hes> bledsoe wes matthews middleton jaanus lopez. You agree agree. The projects was the starting five yeah. It seemed like i mean again matthews. Obviously you know more by default than anything certainly <hes> you know he's obviously a guy who has <unk> a lotta limitations but it will be sort of the the role playing a starter and trying to four strapped to that seems like the best guess but i think certainly <hes> you know that's a spa. That's the obvious spots pat's and they clearly told him he's gonna start or we wouldn't be here. I don't think either i it seemed like that was very important to him when he decided to indiana last year and you know make sense yes <hes> and certainly great value for him. One plus one at the minimum for a guy who's not going to get truck defensively and i can still hidden open three even if the rest of his game is kinda had a limited. You know they probably don't get him. If malcolm brogdon is on the team i would imagine so yeah <hes> so backup wing though is interesting <hes> i mean obviously sleep thanassis sudden coupons. We need the first wing so you've got sterling brown. Kyle korver pat coniston dante david chen zo who ah is he healthy. What's the story with him real quick as far as he didn't play still because he was injured right. You know john sort of tried to downplay that the injury injury was the reason for it but i've just generally had a very uneasy feeling about his situation is from a health perspective. You know he had <hes> you know. The these kind of foot issues issues <hes> he'll issues that you know he came back from and then i think it was early march he played came back for a couple of games and basically reinjured disappeared for the rest of the season i and <hes> you know nobody as you said didn't plan summer league <hes> there was i read a report about a basketball camp. He did i believe in delaware where of course he's from where it was claimed that he's one hundred percent for the sees a delaware online reports that he's he's on my as of august twenty second my my homepage <hes> for for all news of course <hes> so i am still nervous about that and for that reason <hes> i you know we've i've had a lot of debates with <hes> you know i do locked on bucks with eric name and <hes> you know. We've had a lot of debate about you. Know okay strolling brown. <hes> pat contin dante chen's like who who these guys are actually going to emerge from the pack and actually play <hes> consistent minutes and with dante i mean he was the first guy off the bench in the first couple of games last year as a rookie for mike in holds..

"Just we just said, there's no way they're going to win this game. So. I was very exciting. You mentioned ironic that can all out of what we did last night. Yeah. I out David's. Eight is supposedly student will sorrow him many up name. I told my in disguise raving second base. I was hoping the answer is not that bad. But if you put him at second, he keeps hitting he plays a real good second base. And he's in the middle of everything, waiting to connote. We can't play any place else. I'm covered so. JD davis. Happen where the right field night. Yeah. You know. But I'm not sure that anyone short of would've that touch. Anyway, on mcnew blocked for being triple. Right. So short he was competent. Fewer web sale with the practicing. I what macneil writing Dom Swinton at the. Yeah. Why not? I mean I wanna get. I mean, it's funny, you may get you may get a, a lineup with guys playing all kinds of different positions. But maybe clicks, maybe just clicks waiting overcomes. Yes, you know, the, the four Covington individual feeling from from tonight. No, not not today. Laugh. Raw shallot weight. But listen we were at the game. My brother is in Washington. So I gave me a heads up on awesomeness situation power while under the gun. Okay. I'm tonight might have been the last straw Reagan endure through. Oh. Save could be. It's it's fun talking about a DS doing four out. Save now wait a minute went adamant at the beginning of the year. He's only going to do inning. I mean, I don't have a problem with a guy getting a four out save or five out save or whatever, but it was like, no way. And now what changed mine all of a sudden? From india. Guy gun you'll and and, and. Good. Yeah. I keep using got to be over with shoulder straining on the along those actor yet. I think every time it comes into million should be six inning guy. You know this is as little dangerous possible. Just have them. You know, he's gonna pitch a couple of couple of batters because the leadoff batters picture in the next inning, something like that. That lefty specialist anymore. Either he might be another lefty out could be. So this is all you went with my younger brother whenever president Bach in the last night. Came by and put his hotdog thing down all the dogs will at the. They were. For coming, right? Past go to rob Robin Brooke rob you're on the fan. Doing gangsta will quick about the situation. Is dangerous. Course they'll make people into the same thing. Yeah. A few years ago when baseball stop televising people running on the field came big problem. But it's you see that, but the real quick. Stay coming back. No. I, I should be like, I think we need to keep Frazier nail biting little bit defensively in. But, you know, deinking built they have to win by not going to be pitching sees of a five right? Tanaka you make a good nocco. You make batch. You know they make a big train. No, no, no midseason if the real frontline, because he's good. But I just don't kick up to second hand. That's the they worried about is, is innings. That's the thing about baseball gets me. You know you guys doing well and all of a sudden you go his innings and I'm like, well, then we'll wait a minute. You plan to go to the World Series that means you're going to need, and what happens they start MRs starts during the season. He messes up his so dangerous say, but everything's pitch count. Now nowadays. Goes back in days, a guy based nine yeah. And you know what the minds of the pitches, they were, you know, they would them themselves couldn't go. Hey, ended job. The bench. Some of seats. What was staying coming back? I mean every comes back now. Exactly right. I mean, you know, naked Castell date need him back famous on to hit their way to championship. 'cause they just going to pitch in just personally CC will be a be a weapon if you get a frontline pitcher, and you him in middle relief. Plus what even like no, maybe because he could go all out and you get up and he won't have to worry about serving his pitches, Hanky has now. So that's just my Netanyahu is always keep in the neck. All right, man. Yeah, I don't know about him. I think he's, he's nineteen years in the big like always been probably nine nine point nine percent starter. I'm sure it was games late in before the also gave me came into something like that. But I think he just, you know what he is the five inning picture from one to five not from, you know, four to nine or something like that. You just put him you, you know, when he when he pitches to the bullpens going to be active that day. So you've been arrested part of the bullpen. You have enough guys back there. And, you know, came these doing good and Britain, and even the hail the other day, and in Batanes is coming back. So, you know, you, you don't have to piss everybody one day, but you got enough guys that you can you can see. He's pitching, you need about three or four guys just in case, eight seven seven thousand seven sixty six sixty six Khwaja calls at three twenty times between twenty Marco balletti..

"To Noah. Say that very same thing. It's time Noah come on back in high school, but come on this. Trim a little bit off. And maybe you win like fifteen those cute for the first season or two. But really it's enough. I mean, I I'm at the point where I watched Syndergaard. And it's like I feel annoyed. It's like how does that hair? Not annoy you affect your pitching somewhat. I mean, come on. You're sounding like everybody's father. Now get a haircut. See that. And then he puts it in a bun, and that's like, you know. No. Cut that old man bun. No, I knew a guy boxing that he all thin and on top. But he had a little bit here. This what is pulled it all meant to opponent. Oh, no, not worth the trouble. Oh was that movie with host Steve Steve Martin? And he had a he had a ponytail in the looked so stupid. He went home like a clip on thing. I can't think what the movie was man. But no gets now. Now, you sign him which is status quo. You gotta add some pieces now new way signing him is. I mean, it's not exactly adding a piece. But I mean, you're ensuring that that peace will stay with me. So that would be a good first step of Li they can get it done the price tag will be high as it should be. And what now is now what you're gonna say. Gee, I think we over valuated says that that ship has sailed none. You just you know, just give him it will how many thorough check and get this done before, you know, the the holiday Christmas that would be good. And I I would. I'd be surprised if it didn't. Yes. Yes. You knew you're going to bring him back. You just you know, how much do we think we should offer? Because if he wins the young awards and you'd be prepared. But then come on now. I was I was lucky to see a number of degrom starts this year. Just you know, you never know who's going to be pitching on a given day. I'm gonna remember, you know, they they have the K corner. It's not like the old k corner where the fans actually the case. Yeah. Electronic now. No, it's definitely not the same. But it was it was always cool with because she'd be in the fifth inning sixth-inning, maybe and you'd look over. And and there were like there was not enough room for the case on their screen there because it'd be double digits already a lot of the time. I'm going to remember that. Yeah. Glad I was able to view some of those games live. How many times who you see the most? You know, I think it probably was. Just worked out that way, for whatever reason. But I got a little sprinkling of everybody. Now, I still know my my last game at chase stadium. Steve trachsel. Oh boy. I never forget got the ball. And he stepped off erupt the ball. He went and got the stuff this guy yelled out a young. Cliche when you left the house. That'd be had a five o'clock shadow. If I was one of the last minute, they've been my brother and his sons, we all went and picked it. I don't know. We'll get there. Oh, man. We're going to be your all dogs. Let's not eat our whole meal now write it out. Money's gonna last one hotdog now fifth. I it'd be three hours from now. Then we'll get the second dog, man. He was like. I want to be able to cut caddo Prakan. I give you another hundred dollars. Hurry up. Hurry up. But now Doron nice nice performance. And hopefully, the Mets will build on this and add some nice pieces. Lot of nice pieces may men. What can I say? So and we're not gonna we're not going to rip the gentleman you today. He's got time to get all this done. We got. Oh, yeah. That'd be wanted to thanksgiving is still giving out. What MVP is today? Right. That's it. Who's comeback player? He was there. One day. I don't know if they did that did see. Basically baseball network on. They said the baseball writers of America having their award show. I think later this week. So I guess it's just so maybe Mets. Hold up and see if he wins another. You're right. That's revealed. We love you time. Eight seven seven three three seven sixty six sixty six toll free line. Listen to us anytime, also anywhere. Download the radio dot com app today. Let's go to Robin Brooke than they rob. Hey, tony. All right, man. How are you? Okay. So I was reading earlier online dead on Lebanon's bell locker was ransacked by teammates locus. They took everything. Wouldn't they put in a box in the Senate? I mean, I know you re as I read more an article seemed as a lot of bad blood between him and teammate because a lot of teammates had out told him. He wasn't returning to Texas and stuff. So I guess there's a lot of bad blood in the Rapson bird Quebec combined. He's like, no, we're brotherhood here. He didn't say it. But it was kind of like, you know, he let us down like know they look kind of like a combat situation. And they were all these soldiers there, you know. So I think the team just really no let down by reached out to a lot of people most people even coach. We'll just situation where they just soak set wouldn't conceptually usually just put stuff in a couple of boxes. No pitcher Cizek pick it up because it seems like as this was dragging on. They lose their respect from like, you know, it's like you said you're not communicating with us. Like he wants to be. And you know, what I hats off to him. I mean, look how many guys in Jim Brown left at twenty nine ago. Become a movie star. Okay. Let me I'm Brown belt do any movies. He's he left fourteen million dollars on the table. Just disappointing real quick. Earlier that originally off no five years seventy million thirty three guaranteed, which is running back in time. Say turns down extension donate. They tagging fourteen point five. So he's is frame remind you, of course, you played the season. You don't get hurt you to pick up the typical numbers. So you come back next year, which I hit you tag next year. So next year that's another fifteen sixteen because it goes up. So within a two years, you may close to thirty free guarantee, you only twenty eight that means just still you'll have to get it would be contract. I wanna stand just left a lot of money unless like you say might be ready to retire. But I don't know. I think you know, he didn't look I'm going to get hurt. I want to get hurt and have a big contract. I'm not gonna play for you know, this pittance of what team million dollars. I don't know how much more always going to get over that. But I think he's a he's a good fit for the jets, and you know. And. Well, I'm gonna. What are you going to be willing to spend money? I mean, they're going to have a lot of money money back. But you know, it is they need weapons. And he's the first I mean, who is he's better than everybody. They got in the backfield. They gotta add some receiver because if they get a a top notch receiver be either, you know, the naked top in college. He's going to be better than any wide receivers. They have all all the wide receivers are like, you know. Pieces. This. Isn't that great? They don't have speed possession type of c- was I can't stretch the deal fails. So does that. You know, he comes system is he going to be the same Belle de play Pittsburgh, and becomes assistant where our teams stack the line against take him away. That's true. Well, you know what? That's that's running back. Let's put it this way. They can stop with the jets have right now. And they don't have as much talent. So that's the saints. I just think he made a big huge financial mistake bend. I don't telling. But that's just no was thinking when I read the article. But thanks McCall. Tony always great talking to you. All right, man. I think he protected himself. I don't wanna get hurt. You know, let me let's let's say the Free French French ties tag. You. You get hurt. You're not getting anything next year. You'll get one of those make good contract with a lot of incentives and all that kind of stuff. Okay. But I. He put his money where his mouth is gone. And you're not gonna you know. And even if you know, what are you going to figure out a way to bring them back? What they don't. They don't want him in the locker rooms I saw a quote on TV Rosberg and said, look, he's not here. We don't wanna talk about. He's not gonna be with us. It's one thing when you get hurt. Anybody says, you know, my prayers are with you. And and you know, we wish you the best and we'll pay you visit hospital. Hope you come by you still part of the team. Outta sight outta mind. Connor was worried at first because Connor was in the in the. Concussion protocol, but he's been cleared and he started practicing. So he'll be fine. I mean, he's doing well with it really didn't need bell. But bell what he made them better because he knew the system and everything, but a he's it'd be a good dishes, the jets eight seven seven thirty seven sixty six sixty six we got some more baseball. We come back after this. When it comes to taking care of your family.

"Male pipebombs in the US up to ten names added to the list today. Former vice president Joe Biden, he got to an actor Robert deniro authority. Say the public is safe for now, but should remain vigilant. White House response to those who say the president's hate speech causes the problem saying it's the media that is so negative. Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo ABI in Beijing saying wants to lift relations with China to new levels, both China, and Mr. Trump or saying New York Times report that China is listening to his conversations is on an old iphone is fake news, both using that term. And the White House is now saying that Mr. Trump's phone is rotated regularly for security only uses one official government iphone and follows best practices. Super typhoon. Youtube is lashing the Northern Mariana Islands as residents brace now for months without electricity or running water one person has died also in its path as it moves back to water or the Philippines and Taiwan. If you look at the map there several of them up on the Bloomberg terminal. It is looks like the drawing any way like a massive massive storm and Donald Trump says he's going to love. The global playing field when purchasing drugs for Medicare the drug lobby response. A plan will deny access to patients and discourage innovation. Global news. Twenty four hours a day on air tick talk on Twitter power by more than twenty seven hundred journalists and analysts more than one hundred twenty countries in San Francisco, I'm Ed Baxter. This is Bloomberg Mr. angle it's back to you on the flight deck. Right. Thanks a lot. I think we need the Batten down the hatches here again. In Hong Kong one projection has U2. hitting Hong Kong next Friday. So we got a week to soar up the source. All right. Let's get back to our conversation. Now with Robin Brooke's, managing director chief economist at the institute of international finance, Robin before the clock unforgivingly cut us off in the last block. We were talking about the fed. And I might just add that Bloomberg's Mike Mckee. We'll be interviewing Dallas fed President Robert Kaplan at eight AM Friday in the US that's eight pm tonight in Hong Kong, but you were mentioning despite all the headwinds on the US economy. The trade war at cetera et cetera. You don't think the fed is being too hawkish? No, I think that first of all I think there's been kind of a communication mistake and certainly misperception markets, as you know, the fed the emphasized are star that was interpreted as hawkish in my opinion falsely. And then of course, the chair the fed said that we're still wait for Mitchell. And I think that was purely a factual comment comparing two point one the current set funds target versus three which is neutral level. So there was no message there one way or the other. Well, he did say that they were possibly willing to go beyond neutral, and that got some attention. Yes. And I think that's been a message that the fed has communicated for some time if you look at the dot, which of course, we all take with a grain of salt, right because their projections and the media and the median of many many different forecasts the dot said going to a terminal rate of three point four percent and twenty twenty and twenty twenty one. So the idea is going beyond neutral, which is three I think has been communicated for some time. It's been more recently that markets in the context of relatively strong did and the United States have all of a sudden we rated, and I think that's been a mistake. So that positive for equities, Robin. We just want break in from moment and mentioned that the Time Warner center in New York City is being evacuated right now because of potential explosive devices some suspicious packages have been located so we'll come back to that. When we get further details I wanted to mention as well that Amazon talked about. A little less from international sales. And you also had Intel talking about the difficulty of trying to unravel the supply chains. This is something that we haven't heard too much from the fed is that likely to creep into the discussion, the international picture soon. Yep. Thirty sorry. Let me make two points. So first of all what we have seen increasingly and also in our own data is that global economies becoming unbound. United States continues to grow pretty strongly we're going to get to three advanced. Tomorrow, and they're going to be pretty solid, but the rest of the world isn't doing so, well, I'm so increasingly unbalanced global growth that said based on the history of the said, there's really only one emerging markets affect cares about China. And so on China activity picture as you know, Keith requires was six and a half percent. So there's no reason for them to strip just yet. Well, when the tariffs hit into overdrive as of January first going from what ten to twenty five fifteen to twenty five percent, whatever that might be does that start hitting China more or the US? Clearly be very material mega shock to China. The discussion here, and what the White House has telegraph is the tariffs generally one. We'll go on the additional two hundred billion from ten percents twenty five percent. So just to put that in perspective. What that would mean in terms of the MVP, which is a very simple metrics dollars. Dan, why if that happened would have to move another six percent higher? Values picks Chris time against the US. To increase in tariffs. That would definitely go above the red line of seven to the dollar that we hear about so much. Thanks so much Robin Brooke's we're gonna take a quick break. This is Bloomberg. This is the Bloomberg green.

I have three advices for them. I New York Times should know that such report just provides another piece of evidence that the N Y T is making false news fake news fake news. That's her word second. She says he could becoming a to use a Chinese phone. She says security is much better. Global news twenty four hours a day on air a tick tock on Twitter power by more than twenty seven hundred journalists and analysts in more than one hundred twenty countries in San Francisco, I'm Ed Baxter. This is Bloomberg Bryan, sir. And she had even more of a twinkle in the eye than you did when you just reported. Oh, she did. Yeah. That's great. All right. Thanks, very much, Ed Ed Baxter. The time is nine minutes past the hour. Let's say good morning to Robin Brooke's, managing director and chief economist with this firm, Robin. Thanks very much for joining us. We can talk a little bit about the weakness in the on. But I wanna talk a little bit more about this strength in the dollar and the challenge that that poses for emerging markets at twelve hundred on the Bloomberg dollar spot. It's a sixteen month high. Are we breaking out now? Well, thanks for having me on. So just to give you an idea. Obviously this year has been very difficult for emerging markets. Life by Turkey and Argentina the year started with those currencies and some others in emerging markets being seriously misaligned being seriously overvalued against the US dollar. That's over. In fact, if anything many emerging market currencies are screening, cheap at this point. And so for for the most part, we think the emerging market Ralph and therefore dollar strength against emerging markets done. So how about on the Yuan is this a reflection of dollar strength or is this a competitive devaluation as we creep towards seven. Think about if the United States impose tariffs on the euro. Example, right. Then it would be perfectly natural for the euro to depreciate in response to that negative shock to economy, and it would depreciate against the dollar. So that's a freely floating currency, and that would be what would happen. So in the case of the you want if we think about that being increasingly freely floating, it would be perfectly natural to think of the on. Appreciate an impact, but it should. In terms of overall risk. I've got a lot of negatives and not many positives lower maybe a positive, but the dollar higher costs a trade war raids downgrades and earnings oil prices. This is not a time to take on more risk is it. I think where disagree with market is is on one thing, and particular I think what started this SAP selloff is a misperception of the fed. If you remember the up started in.

"Leverage overhang is one of the least important factors for gdp if you take the number seriously in china between de risking and deal leveraging because taking the risk and the speculative nature out of it is probably a good thing leverage china's events that cocktail that is fed this amazing story in china here the governor's china um and you as you pointed out in the previous segment you know the dollar is obviously on the back foot uh if he or stable or weakening um that hugely stabilising for china because i think the the achilles heel for the economy has always ban in an over leverage system if you started getting panic devaluation expectations in capital flight that a huge problem and in an environment with the dollar's going nowhere that's really not machine so that's buying them lots of time uh nominal gdp will keep growing and they they will trying to deliver that way so how do you see them balancing the deal leveraging issue i mean we've got you want stability even a stronger currency how do you see them tweaking interest rate policy given the delicacy of the de leveraging issue i mean uh i had a i had a client recently asked me whether china is uh now switching from a deflationary equillibrium to an inflationary equilibrium and i think the reality is if you take the leverage over hanks curiously which which we do uh then two things that we're switching into an inflationary equilibrium and china contributing to gold one place and i think that's just not the case so do i think that there is a case for um hiking monetary tightening of course not uh i think the the the basic policy backdrop is is going to be very stable and basically try and keep it that he is she goes but using other tools other than that benchmark rate which they've kept at that record low four point three five percent all right robin brooke's managing director chief economist institute of international finance always good to hear your views all right well coming up just after the break we're gonna delve into japan it's in attract mode when it comes to the video gaming industry fascinating story coming up in just a couple of minutes this is bloomberg with a bloomberg business of sports report i'm michael barr data patrick's racing career is winding down her final two races will be in the daytona five hundred next month.
