"Biggest stories, the biggest form for talking about what matters on the biggest stick in the state. Now why from me and its wealth management studios at Radio City This is the Steves Give BT show 11 o'clock hour on a Friday, Stephen's back on Monday. Packers win this weekend. I'm a little bit. I'm a little iffy. I'm not as worried as I was going into Tampa or even that Vikings game. I know if I could say I called it, but I want feeling good about it. Um, I don't think they beat the Colts. I've been pretty accurate with my old feeling that have ultimately resulted in losses. Detroit is always a tricky place to play. We all know that Even when they've been bad, the Packers have struggled the whole new coach thing. Rejuvenating. The Lions has me a little bit concerned. I'd be a lot more concerned if this was the first game that Detroit had the interim coach Darrell Bevell at the helm. Fortunately, it was last week. So the Packers from kind of maybe adjust for for what he did that Patricia didn But they still got that whole. Who knew coach New Viber. We're playing fresh, even though we're bad and not gonna make the playoffs, And that has me a little concerned. Crazy stuff happens in the in the dome there, and I don't know if I'm saying they're gonna lose, but I just know it's gonna be close, so put it that way. Hey, Speaking of sports real quick. Did you see this? This is a couple days old now, But you know Thom Brennaman, is he well, he was a television broadcaster for the Cincinnati Reds. If you saw or more accurately, If you heard his voice you you would know who he is. Work for Fox Sports as well Did national games did NFL games for Fox, and not anymore? He's the guy, though, during that baseball game back in August, I guess it was our September he used A home, a phobic slur that made it to air during a Redd's Royals broadcast. He's the one that apologized on air like there was a battle that hit a home run in the middle of his an apology, and he called the home around and it was just a real It was cringe worthy across the board. I mean from the From the initial slur to the apology to the circumstances around the apology, and then it took him a couple innings and then they yanked him off the air. And he you know, he has not returned since. Is just bad, bad, bad, bad all the way around. He's got a gig. He's got a job. He didn't know if he'd ever be working in the business again. Reports this week is that Brennaman is going to be putting his play by play headset on again, this time for the Roberto Clemente League in Puerto Rico. Also been called the Puerto Rican Winter League. If you're familiar with that term, it's been around since the thirties. Certainly has five teams place for a couple of months. The winner goes on to the Caribbean or Caribbean. Syriza's against champions from other Latin American League's. It advertises streaming for US audiences on its site, those maybe the broadcasts, Brennaman will be calling. Mm. One expert says it's unusual to see him hired here, especially with this coming less than four months. After what he said got him in hot water and pretty much got him off our television screens. Sweet But it says could definitely draw some criticism. You think But it'll draw attention to the league as well. I don't know. We'll see how it works out. I would have guessed that it would take longer than four months for Thom Brennaman, too. Get a gig again in broadcasting. I want to share something real quick here and then the next segment. The return of the pie guy, But I want to just let you know. Yesterday I had a chance to talk to Clark Howard. A conversation with Clark Howard that we're going to be packaging for a WTMJ conversation next Sunday, the 20th. So put that on your radar. It was awesome. I trust me when I say that. Based on our conversation. First we talked for an hour and a half. But tell you this. I talked him for hour and a half. We were just we were eight minutes into our conversation before I even started recording for the interview. And many of you have listened to him for many, many years, obviously, and maybe you came to some of his live shows when he would come to Milwaukee over the years. So for 90 minutes, we just talked about everything. How we started. What this year has been like for giving out the information in the advice during the age of covert. Some of he talked about some of his early childhood struggles. He said he did not even speak until he was four years old. He went through a lot of e guess I mean, I think he referred to it as kind of like learning challenges, and it wasn't until he reached college. He said that he really felt he he hit his stride, so to speak. We talk about how he's able to take complex issues and make them so easy to understand for, you know, peons like me. We talked about his love of football. I said you'd do anything for fun. What do you do for fun? I cannot tell you what's on the television between the end of the Super Bowl and kick off of the following season. Big Atlanta Falcons fan because he's from Atlanta. That's where his headquarters are. He went to the Super Bowl, where they blew that lead against the Patriots. He has not gotten over it. We'll talk about that. We covered so much so much. I should say for 20 twenties, and they push that back to 2021, but Al Michaels, people forget it did a lot of baseball. He was in the booth for the The berry world Serious when the earthquake hit at Candlestick Park. Yeah, he was with Tim McCarver, then. Maybe I think so. And he did. He did reds he did. Giants can locally. Yeah, and I like him on Sunday football with Cris Collinsworth. Yeah, He's very well like he's one of the best. I want to say he once did. That the Hawaiian Islanders minor league team, really, I think that was one of his first jobs. Yeah. On So I guess that's step one, uh, for Tom coming back and sort of rehabbing his image. Yeah, I guess I will surprised to hear that, but Yeah, well, we'll, uh, control him. Joe did we didn't try to get in touch with them yesterday, because I know we We talked to him off the air. "So. I'm not interested in getting in some embroiled controversy or whatever i just when he said it i didn't think collins were offended that wasn't offensive to me. I don't know certainly how women think about it. And i respect their football fandom and knowledge. I have a lot of friends that are women that love football and that know a lot about it and a lot of sports that are great at betting and great at talking about football aerial etc. Everyone like that does it right. I have no problem with anybody. As you know. Carver high i get along with you know everybody. Women men everyone that works. I get along with the garbage man at work. But i didn't. I didn't find it offensive. Like he's like. I'm blown away by the knowledge of other women. That love football in pittsburgh. What's so bad about that. I just. I never could understand that. I'm like are you serious. We're gonna spend a week embroiled in this guy's got to go on an apology tour to what save his career. I mean it's not like he did like brennaman thom brennaman like you know. He basically went off on gays right and made a real homophobic statement that cost him his job at cincinnati right with the reds and long tenured run of thirty years. Whatever with his father in an himself games and he lost everything. And now he's doing on the roberto clemente league in puerto rico in the winter ball. I mean to tell you like he's a he. Let's face it. The guy's a great announcer right doing baseball and nfl. You can't even question that carver high right. And then that bad day. On the mike with the hot mic and he got caught saying there was the blank capital of the world making fun of frankly gays that he lost everything right and now he's doing puerto rican winter league ball. I mean i mean honestly. I'm not sure i'd even want that publicized. That's how bad that is right. I mean i think he's probably he loves baseball so he's probably having fun. I can guarantee you right. But but look i just hit a go ahead. Shot with five seconds left against northwestern to by the way and literally been trailing this whole game and they just took the lead seventy seventy northline. North western has been leading this whole way. They've had a skype fifteen point. Leads ten point leads the entire game. And i think just be the first lead bits out of the game with second and i got and four and a half shake out of ood and they take the lead on a baseline dunk to. That's even more impressive. So where was i all right. So you know. I when they publicized that he got gagging in puerto rico. I'm not sure. I don't speak for him at all but i'd probably be like you know you don't need to renounce this colleges come down and do it. You know what i mean. I don't want this to be a big story or anything. Cashcall the games would that be but far be it for me to question his talent on the air. The guys great at what he does right. I know you you know that like he's really good at doing baseball and he's really good at football right. No one can even argue that but he had a really bad day and nowadays they just fire you right. There's no suspensions or second chances or anything they just fire you now. You can do other heinous things and keep your job but going on the air and sand southern homophobic or not like look at look at collins. I mean buddy say and that got him in so much trouble like it was just unbelievable to me like it was candy ass like it's not even offensive. What he said like. Are you kidding me dude. If they would've literally i'd have been fired one hundred and fifty times over for some of the things that have come out of my mouth over the last thirty five years honestly look. I don't know if you heard it but like some of the shows like we ran these podcast right when i first started on Unsportsmanlike number carbohydrates. Doing like a an hour podcast every day for on the bench. I do remember okay.
