Could Mike Pompeo, Robert O'Brien, Make a Run for POTUS?
"Yeah, David drucker, I am going to moderate a debate of would be senators in ohioans on a night, the 6 Republicans who are running three nights at Senate to replace rob Portman, and I'm reading in Trump shattered or prepare for that debate. They might want to get a hold of a copy themselves if they want to know what I'm thinking about. I think you're going to sell like hotcakes. I can not wait to read this, but I wanted to ask you, I know that two of the profiles in the book are of Robert O'Brien and Mike Pompeo. I was with both of those men last week. I'm curious what your assessment of both of their intentions and odds are showed president Trump not enter the race. And if he should. Well, it's very interesting. Let me start with Mike Pompeo, the former Secretary of State because I spent so much time researching him and reporting on it. He wants to run for president. And in fact, in a podcast interview a couple of weeks ago and it's a companion to my book, so it's also athlete titled in Trump's shadow. I asked secretary Pompeo, if I said I know you're not going to tell me if you're running or not today, I'm not that I'm not that crazy. But I said, if Trump decides to run a third time, does that automatically mean you will not. And he would not say as some have said that that automatically means he would not. He said, look, if you're going to run for president, you need to believe that you have something unique and critical to offer the country at a time in history. He is planning to run and everything he is doing is about planning to run. Robert O'Brien, who I profile less, but did mention is a very interesting figure because he comes from the traditional wing of the party, but he fit in very well with Trump in The White House and was his most successful national security adviser from the perspective of doing the job and not getting crosswise with the commander in chief. Could be a very interesting dark horse candidate as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. He's a Mormon. He comes from the west. There are pockets of Mormon voters in Arizona and Nevada, Idaho, other states where multi candidate primary, you might be able to do some damage. He's also interested in running. I classify him as less interested in Pompeo.
Why It's Worth Exploring 'The Big Bang'
"It's kind of funny, Steve. And I think we've talked about this privately, but in my book as atheism dead roughly have the same three things. And this was before I knew that you were putting it in this way. And the third one I put it differently, I kind of, you know, it's more about James tour and abiogenesis, but it's the same concept. And it's funny, though, that we're both logical or try to be. And these are three just astonishing arguments for God. There's just no way around it. And it's funny, I mean, I guess I'm glad to hear that you use these three because they struck me viscerally as the three arguments that I wanted to talk about. The Big Bang in some ways is a curious choice because I think a lot of people think, well, that's old hat. I don't think it is, at least, that's why I revisit it and I talk about it a little bit in that chapter. But why do you say the big why is it worth dealing with the Big Bang, something that presumably we've known about for a long time? Well, science and philosophy do intersect. And scientific discoveries can raise larger philosophical or worldview questions. In every world you have to answer the question, what is the thing or the entity or the process from which everything else came? And the default way of thinking about that from the late 19th century was that the universe is eternal and self existent that matter and energy play the role in a materialistic worldview that God plays in the theistic worldview. In other words, it's the thing from which everything else comes. And it's always been here, and therefore doesn't need an explanation. But one Princeton physicist Robert Dickey put it an infinitely old universe would relieve us of the need of explaining the origin of matter at any finite time in the past. But if the universe is finite, which is what all the evidence now points to. Then that raises a big question that materialism can't answer, which is where did the matter and the energy come from in the first place? At that beginning point. And this troubled Einstein, this troubled Arthur eddington, this troubled Fred hoyle, the great astrophysicist and physicist at the early part of the 20th century who were confronted with this evidence, all recognized that it posed a huge challenge to scientific materialism or scientific atheism or scientific naturalism, whatever you want to call it, the idea that matter and energy or the primary reality, not

"So Robert Gates is on 60 minutes And he's asked about this Afghanistan's situation Cut 6 go It was really tough For a few days there I actually wasn't feeling very well And I realized it was because of what was happening in Kabul and I was just so low About the way it had ended if you will And I guess the other feeling that I had was that it probably did not need to have turned out that way Well prison Biden said any withdrawal is messy Certainly the military considers the withdrawal the most dangerous part of an operation But they really had a lot of time to plan Beginning with the deal that president Trump cut with the Taliban So that was in February of 2020 Robert Gates who oversaw the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan from 2006 to 2011 told us president Trump failed to plan properly for the evacuation of Afghans who'd helped the U.S. fight the Taliban Don't you love this part where they narrate Don't you love it We don't get to hear Robert Gates say that We don't hear We hear Anderson Cooper Whose career Top interview was of stormy Daniels Remember that mister balus Three boobs there at least two boobs as far as I can tell And so he says Robert Gates he told us why are you here Robert Gates told us about Trump Why don't you have him say what he said
Biden Special Envoy Warns US Must 'Prepare' for Fully Nuclear Iran
"States. Doctor oran, welcome back great to talk to you again, sir. Good to talk to you. Big story coming from the Washington free Beacon. I know that this is something that's gotten a lot of attention in Israel has gotten next to none here in the United States. Adam credo reporting yesterday that U.S. Iran envoy Robert malley, whose name is very familiar to those of us who follow these things, says that the Biden administration is preparing for, quote, a world where Iran doesn't have constraints on its nuclear program. Comments that show how little progress has been made in negotiation with Tehran regarding a return to the JCPOA the 2015 Barack Obama ran deal. Doctor Oren, I mean, if that deal had remained in place, we'd still be dealing with in Iran didn't have any constraints on its nuclear weapons program. I mean, I think that that's one thing that should be said right off the bat. That deal wasn't going to prevent Iran from creating nuclear weapons. It only it only had a ten year pause in it, maybe. And that's only if you believed Iran was complying with it. Yes, that's true. It was ultimately going to his line was ultimately going to have an unlimited nuclear program. The big difference was that while it restrained itself somewhat, and some aspects of the program, just on the nuclear enrichment, not a missile development, not on the development of advanced centrifuges, not on developer warheads, didn't do anything about any of that. But when I was going to get paid a 100 billions of dollars that it wasn't going to spend on schools and hospitals, you can believe that. I think the major thing that rob valley is saying, believe it or not is the truth and the truth that has been around for a long time. I've been talking about on these really news. And that is the United States is willing to coexist with an Iran that has threshold capacity. I mean, the ability is created a bomb within a matter of weeks, because you've been a matter of days. Among the professionals, if referred to as Japan like capabilities, there's Japan has that capability, but of course, you can't threaten to wipe anybody off the map or is not supporting financial payers. Jenna Ellis Tells Us What's on the Docket for the Supreme Court
"I'm talking to my friend Jenna Ellis about the news of the day. We're talking about fear mongering. We're talking about vaccine mandates. Can you give us an update since you know a lot about the Supreme Court on what lies ahead? Because it is interesting to have a majority of people that we would consider actual constitutionalists. What do you suppose will happen in the next term? Yeah, it's going to be really fascinating. The new term started October 4th and there are already a few cases on the docket that are going to be argued into November and December that are going to have huge implications on religious liberty on abortion in the United States and on the Second Amendment. They've actually taken up the first Second Amendment case since 2008. And the District of Columbia versus Heller decision. So that'll be interesting and before we get into a couple of these cases, you mentioned, you know, we actually have a majority that are constitutionalists. Well, first, I hope so. And I don't categorize justice Roberts at all. Oh, I was talking about. So we hope to make me laugh. Have at least a 5 four. But what a lot of people say is, well, you know, you're just as activist than as the Democrats. We know that's not true because wanting a conservative majority means we actually understand what the judicial branch is designed for, which is to hold accountable the two political branches and to make sure to preserve and protect our world. Look, we've gotten trapped into this kind of language. The fact of the matter is, if you are not a constitutionalist and originalist, in my mind, you're an

What Is Victor Davis Hanson's Book 'The Dying Citizen' About?
"Go ahead and explain your book again I was already explaining but you can do it better You wrote it It's we're losing if we have all this chaos in the news cycle at the border Afghanistan or stagflation or this crazy critical legal theory critical theory There's all a common denominator and it's an attack on the idea of a constitutional citizen And it's a very rare concept We're very fortunate in the United States to have it And it's fraudulent It's not guaranteed And one of the ways that diminishes is the middle class is neglected And Democratic Party has been the party of the very wealthy now in the very poor but the middle class has been lost between the two parties until recently And you have to have a sacred space for citizens to inculcate their traditions and customs If you have an open border you have sort of a migratory population of residents They're not citizens And it's hard to know that what the advantages are citizenship are over just residency anymore You know whether it's entitlements or voting or maybe even holding officer They've been blended And we have this tribalism and it's a pre civilizational idea that you judge people on the parents of their skin color or their general physicality and rather than their ideas that are common American And that's just the organic pre civilization pressures on the citizen but look at the elite top down It's a permanent administrative state whether it's general milley or James Comey or Robert Mueller or John Brennan these people who are judged jury and executioner And they're not elected a Doctor Fauci And yet they exercise power that's just completely on

How Big Government Pushes Against Parents
"Know that when you have kids it changes everything because you start. Maybe you wouldn't do something for yourself but when you win there on the line the idea that the government has gotten to a place where it is basically pushing against parents and daring to say any number of things that they know better than the parents now. Anybody who understands how our government works knows. That's exactly backwards. The people free the parents and families have total control. and then they. Because we're busy we. We say we're going to pay teachers to teach our kids. We're going to pay somebody to pave the road. Because i don't have time to pave the road we're going. We have. government has a role but we are the ones that call the shots. That's how the founders put it in the constitution and so now the government has gotten so big and people have really gotten so ignorant of what is america. What is freedom that when people say. Hey we're gonna we're the government. We say. Your daughter can get an abortion. Doesn't have to tell you. We say your kids are going to get the shot in school of this or for that. You don't need to know about it. We say that your kid has the right to get gender reassignment surgery or whatever and you as the parents have no say now. If you're an american you understand. That is completely wrong. But you have to fight if you don't fight it's on you

When you talk about diplomacy being primary between the US and Russia? How is calling Vladimir Putin a killer constructed to that relationship? President Biden is known President Putin for a long time. They've both been on the global stage for a long time. The questioning why long Is not yet facing hate crime charges after he admitted killing eight people, including six Asian women, pointing to the seemingly sympathetic comments of Captain Baker. Being win is a Georgia state lawmaker. We've seen this type of commentary before the framing of the perpetrator and finding reasons to justify a horrific crime. And the fact There is just trust between communities of color and law enforcement. This is one of the reasons why that distrust exists. Monica Tamar ANF is the president of the Asian Pacific American Alliance. She said in a statement that these murders show how both racism and sexism shaped the specific ways that Asian women experienced violence. Tamar F. Said Asian women are fetishized as sex objects. And perceived as deserving of violence. The House Judiciary Committee today held a hearing on the discrimination and violence that Asian Americans have faith historically, and since the onset of the cove in 19 pandemic, House Judiciary Committee chair Jerry Nadler calls the rise in violence. On American Asian American lawmakers were testifying Kristina Honest, ed reports hate crimes against Asian Americans in the US are on the rise. According to the stop A P I hate crimes index. Nearly 3800 incidents were reported in the last year, and according to the Center for the study of Hate and Extremism, there has been a nearly 150% increase in anti Asian hate crimes over the previous year. Both projects are run by the California state universities. Those hate crimes include racial slurs, murder, elder abuse and violent assaults on Children. Democrat Sheila Jackson Lee of Texas displayed graphic photos of Asian hate crime victims, including one of a man and a boy who are stabbed in the face. Three year old baby cut. Father cut Assailant did this heinous act because he thought Family was Chinese. And infecting people with a Corona virus. He thought the family was Chinese, and they are infecting people with the Corona virus. Take your heads out of the sand. Someone as we look at the outrage. Let me put into the record. The 45th president, always referring to coronavirus that the China virus or kung fu let me call his name President Trump. Recent attacks, including the killing of an 84 year old San Francisco man in February have raised concerns about worsening hostilities towards Asian Americans. The hearing planned in advance comes two days after a young white man gunned down eight people in Georgia. Six of them were Asian women and also comes during a pandemic year in which the former president Donald Trump repeatedly used inflammatory rhetoric about the Corona virus. But Republican Rob Roy of Texas defended free speech at the hearing. Former federal prosecutor used an old statement about lynchings when doing so. There's old sayings in Texas about, you know, find the all the roof in Texas and get Atoll of tree. Uh, you know, we take justice very seriously, and we ought to do that around up the bad guys. That's what we believe. Um, my concern about this hearing. Is that it seems to want to venture into the policing of rhetoric. In a free society. Please speech, and he then went on a tirade against China's Communist Party. Here's an excerpt. I'm not going to be ashamed of saying I pose Chai calms. I oppose Chinese Communist Party and when we say things like that we're talking about that. We shouldn't be worried about having a committee of members of Congress policing our rhetoric. Because some evil doers Go engage in some evil activity, as occurred in Atlanta, Georgia. Because when we start policing free speech, we're doing the very thing that we're condemning when we condemn what the Chinese Communist Party does to their country, making crimes out of thought crimes out of speech. This is one of the ways in which American racism works. Erika Lee, a professor of history and Asian American studies at the University of Minnesota, called Roy's comments irrational since the hearing was about hate crimes against Asian Americans, not China's Communist Party. We warned against the dangers of this false equivalency, which was at the heart of the hearing. Conflicting us with a with a foreign government has been an age old way. Of denigrating us separating us making us other on New York representative Grace Meng also spoke out against Roy's message. We cannot turn a blind eye to people living in fear..

But that's another way to do it or just take him in storm somewhere. Now, here's the advice going forward. And this is really the important thing going forward every time. I get a new device whether it's a computer a phone laptop tablet, if there is a encryption available. I turn it on full disk encryption available. I turn it on. All macintoshes. Have something called file Volturno before you put anything on there. All iphones, come encrypted, Android phones for the most part coming scripted. If not turn it on. And the reason being then you don't have to worry because without the encryption key. It's gobbledygook on drive. You don't have to erase it. For the computer. Don't no not at all. Highly recommended on all Macintoshes, especially this becomes even more important with solid state drives. Because even if you you know, there are erasers that will write data over your existing data than a race. It ready to again, do it a couple of times things like Derek's boot and nuke which is a windows program debate. If you search for db, a annual finding, but that doesn't do an effective job or fully effective job on solid state disks because of how solid state this work. They do something called wear leveling and bits of your data may escape a boot nuke. So it's really hard to fully array, solid state drives. So again, if you've got a solid state drive, which you do in every phone every tablet and most computers nowadays, even more important. Make sure encryption has turned on before you put anything valuable on there. If if you do that, you don't have to worry about it ever. Again. I understand these old computers. You need Puna about encryption back. Then. Thank you. My pleasure. Great question. Derek's? Putin Nukus is it useful to most operating systems. Now have a secure delete. I know Winston does and MacIntosh us the secure delete. Does the same thing over rights the data the reason being when you erase a program our file on a computer? It doesn't actually race. It. It merely changes the entry in the drives catalog say, yeah, there's nothing here. You can reuse it. That's why you're gonna race a file even after you've erased it it's not really racist. It's just the directory entries modified, the file name is modified. So that the operating system knows you can reuse that space. So that is all still there. So that's another point by the way. Even if you could boot those computers, if you just formatted, the drives doesn't erase anything all the date is still there and recoverable by almost anybody with tools that are widely available. Would you have to do is over? Right it so formatting the does not over right it. It just writes a new card catalog date is still there. That's why it's quick if if it had to overwrite today, you'll notice this, by the way, if you start using. Something like Derek's boot on modern terabyte, multi terabyte, hard drives. It takes a long time. Now, it is not necessary to do nine passes the same that Simpson. Garfinkel did some testing he said, even if you override at once with ones, and then erase it again, it nobody can recover it. The theory is maybe some secret agent deep within the bowels of the NSA has magic low level magnetic sensing tools that could figure and probably you've seen a movie where they all I can tell even though it was overwritten the Dave no don't worry about that. That's really gone crazy. It's sufficient to do a secure razor over right at once. And that will get the job done the issue, even on solid state drives at does not race everything. So use encryption encryption is your friend, deleting. The partitions doesn't delete data reformatting doesn't delete data. You have to override it to delete your data, and encryption is your friend in almost every case. Eight hundred eighty eight escalate Leo, Leo.

"The house who noticed he out of the house at night all of that is right there from the novel. So I that they were great. And like you mentioned earlier about Robert long street his monologue. One of the highlights of this series for me is that monologue. And there are a lot of great monologues throughout the the show. I think that is definitely a hallmark of what they were doing. Here are those extended monologues are those extended takes. And I think I had read something that creator had said about this the near that Flanagan was talking about when he shooting this. He's a little concerned because from an audience standpoint, it might be easier to not pay attention when just one character is speaking, but you had to put a lot of faith and trust in your actors, and you have to do subtle things. Like, maybe the camera subtly pushes in on them, while they're speaking to draw you into the story that was something that he wanted to bring into this show. And I think he did to great effect. Certainly your mileage may vary. Josh about these extended takes I know you and I have different opinions on episode six which is certainly worthy. Extended takes are put front and center in the show. Yeah. I think if we had been talking closer to the time that I watched the show in the first run and binged through the show, I would have been a little sharper as to why I really didn't love to storms at least not the way that everybody seemed to really go Gaga about it. Again. Like, I got a lot of like preconceptions heading into hill house from people who had watched it. And I kept hearing about all there's there's the one off episode. There's the episode of that's just one take. It's so good. And I think that I'm I'm a little bit. I'm just a little cold on the one take episode at this point. I just feel like it's happening. A lot right now on TV. There's really got to be a really good reason for it right now for it to keep going like Sam S mail nail that like we don't need to just be seeing that every single other show, and I know that that's a wild exaggeration. But it just felt it just felt a little needless to me, and then some of the bickering back and forth between the cast. Members. I felt like that was material you could probably get to in a cleaner way than what felt to me. Like a one off episode like a one or episode for the sake of having a winner episode in the arsenal of hill. House. I understand that. I'm Mike on. I'm basically on an island with that take just they did not it did not land with me nearly as well as some of the other moments in this series and some of the other episodes and especially coming off the bench neck lady, which I thought was the high Mark of the whole show. This is the very next episode. And I think bent neck lady is such a tough act to follow. And it just didn't measure up for me..

"And it's crazy that is a really rough and great episode for sure Angie was she she was the Ben neck lady. She was the Ben Mechlin is always urge disease. It is. I don't understand the time. Loops another lost connection, preconceived ING her own demise. And and maybe you could argue faded for her own demise. Like, she just the fear of it is ultimately when led to it. This is a theme that is a very prevalent throughout the novel where we have the character of Eleanor or Nel who is somebody who has had a rough go of it in her life, and who goes to hill house, maybe wanting to find herself and becomes ultimately the victim of hill house, and she is the one that house is reaching out to she is the one they're writing on the wall, come home Nell, just like in this TV show. And she is ultimately the one who the house claims in a way that it only the house can. And so the story of Eleanor in the TV show is very much like the story of Eleanor in the novel, and this thematically idea that maybe whatever your problems are he'll house exacerbates them. And will put you in a position where they become who you are. Define who you are. We saw that happen in the TV show with the mother with ultimately what happens with Livia crane? We see that we see that play out with her where she has some underlying issue, and she goes to hill house, and it's incredibly exacerbated. There's that fantastic monologue in episode seven that mister Dudley. The caretaker gives where he's like basically saying like, you your wife, maybe needs to take a little bit of a break from this house. And he tells a story about what's happened with other women at this house or with other info at this house, including why his own family doesn't spend time at this house at night. And it's because there are things in the house which play into whatever your inner, psychological torment are it's fascinating because the house rewards as well there is the red room, Josh, which is the room of requirement that just gives you kind of. Every. There's all but it also takes away. It also exacerbates whatever darkness is within you. It's a fascinating house for sure it really is. And there's there's just there's you mentioned the Dudley monologue and without getting like into into a specific one. I do think that that ended up being one of the unexpected two lights of this show where there's just a lot of moments like that there's a lot of moments where the actors are just being allowed to really just show off that monologue. In specific is the one that stands out to me the most when Horace is talking about all the atrocities that occurred here in the cameras just never once breaking away from the actor Robert long street. It's just it's such an unflinching juicy moment for an actor. I got to imagine that that is a career highlight for that guy. So it's just it's it's such a great scene or even like a lot of like the moments with Nell specifically that final monologue that she gets to deliver towards the end of the series when she's finally able to have this moment alone with her siblings who can now see her in this state sort of a blade runner. Ask it felt like to me like the whole like tears like, yeah. Exactly. I've seen things. Yeah. There's just a lot of great character moments in here that I kind of didn't expect one of the things that I've been hearing about hill house before I hopped into it was a lot of the reactions are like I really hate these characters like a lot of people who I who I trust who had watched the show or we're starting to watch the show is like is this going to get any better..
