T-Mac and Kobe
"Today's opening tip is the NFL embassy. Ball course and to spend with the rose. Competition. Player three that nice move. Graham played football of all horse played basketball university of Miami. There's been some good legit. Tom was a Hooper the best. I've seen -til. Randy moss basketball, clearly. Yokoo ninety bucks gates nice big team played football in high school. If you want to go in the other way around so you don't count, man. This guy's a pro. There you go. Welcome to the jump. I'm Rachel Nickell alongside our front office insider now has an and the hall of fame Tracy McGrady so excited for this show a little bit later, we are going to see Tracy with Kobe Bryant. The conversation is fantastic. I can not wait to see. This. Gotta get this a news though. I we're only two days away from the NBA trade deadline forty eight hours from now and. Boom. We got our buyers and sellers board out, but first breaking news. John wall already out for the rest of the season because of his injured he'll now need surgery for a ruptured achilles after slipping in his home. According to the team. Now, the wizards have not determined a date for the surgery, but said walls expected to miss approximately twelve months from the time of his operation. He I had surgery on January eighth for bone Spurs and other chronic achilles injury who have sore. Achilles that got infected. He's got to wait for the infection inflammation to go down before he can even have the surgery on his ruptured achilles. So as we look at what the wizards wall for the next four years. He's going to be making thirty eight chilling at to Crean. I mean, it doesn't look if he plays it all next season. It would be very very surprising. So do we need to move the wizards over to our sellers board? What are they going to sell this? What what are they going to sell? You don't have anybody to. So if they wanted to trade away, Bradley Beal -ccomplish, I mean, the only thing you could sell quote, unquote, as if you could take one of your good aspects and put it onto a bad as his contract. John wall's going to get it off the books yet for there's not a good asset in the world that you can attach to that contract where we just saw on the screen for years every forty million dollars for a guy. That's this is a lot of serious injuries on a harm the most important thing for guys explosive in as quick as yeah. I don't know John wall. The times that I have met him. Everything has been good. I don't know from Adam what I hear. Hearsay? This is a humbling experience with John wall. Right because all the all the things that are said in the media about John wall and his stuff off the basketball court to have surgery on your hill and be recovering from that. And then have this happened. Like, this is a this is a major injury for a player like this. I mean, this is huge. We talk about how will boogie come back from something like this. It's the same thing for I do know John wall. I've covered him for two years. I have always found him to be super dedicated to basketball. He loves the sport he loves playing. You can see that in his game. This is just heartbreaking. I mean, no matter how you feel about the Washington Wizards, no matter how you feel about John. This is just. Changing injury everything about John Ross predicated on his speed. And you know, what this makes me think of your Anthony Davis is it. I'm not gonna take that extension. Don't you think John wells happy? He got four years down. Now. Don't you? Thank. And he's twenty eight years old old guy. Funny. You mentioned Anthony Davis. Because now from the producers of hey, watch and buggy watts. Oh. Age just tweeted, and that means you know, what on up there? The Lakers are still glad to engage with the pelicans on an Anthony Davis trade, but no longer want to bid against themselves leak sources tell ESPN Lakers are waiting for the pelicans to make a counterproposal. The pelicans responded. I love the this is eighteen. Good. Well is reporting last night. The Lakers added, Josh heart and beaches zoo box to the trade package that aren't included. Brandon ingram. Kyle. Kuzma, Lonzo ball and two first round picks. Look the reporting this morning is basically the Lakers feel like they're just negotiating against themselves Ramona Shelburne, who's tweeted out that there's a feeling that no matter what they do. The pelicans aren't really taking this seriously are that go let me to capitalize key wording in the woods. Latest update. Hells wanna be compensated, perhaps even overcompensated to even consider a deer with LA? Do you feel Tracy? The Lakers are closer or further away from landing AD. From the pelicans. I don't make a deal with the Lakers right now is the only team that has given me offer. I'm waiting until next year this off season to get the Celtics involved to see what kind of package they could come up with. So I'm not in a rush to get rid of AD just because the Lakers offered me their whole damn team. Like that's not intriguing to me to. Whereas I wanna get other teams and Volve to see what kind of pack is they come up with their desperate to land AD. And and we know that I think the Lakers have moved closer to the full booklet baggage. We talked about today just everything. Everything you want. But there's some really important interesting. That is that the right. The the puck is had to make a counter they have to say they have to verbalize that enough. I want six from or whatever it is. I wanted to go trade for extra for Trump big from somewhere else they have to make the it's not enough to say that's not enough. They'll Dem's if I'm Madge del. You gotta tell me what the price is. You can't say not good enough. Not good enough. You had to tell me what good enough is otherwise it's what Ramona talk about I'm not gonna keep outbidding myself when there was never a counter meat. I mean, if I'm the pelicans. And I'm looking at what you're throwing at me. It's it's not intriguing to me. I'm not getting back a superstar player, although I'm getting a bunch of guys bag bunch of young talent. But there's no player is going to change my franchise if I get rid of a franchise player Celica, the Celtics are certainly encouraging the pelicans to wait until this off season, right? They want to make the deal for a D there. Possibly dangling Jason Tatum in there. Which by the way, Jason Tatum playing out the rest of the season in the postseason knowing that you know, when the button comes to push junior out they're going to the pelicans. But anyway, look the question is would you trust any age enough to wait it out? And when I say that I don't mean The Danny age is a liar. Duplicitous? It's a compliment. I think he is a genius. He has taken the lunch money of every GM. He has made a major trade within the last five years. He's fantastic at this. He's so good. And I don't know are you making sure if you wait until the summer are you handing Boston leverage in negotiations. Maybe Finian's doesn't already need. And I'm by the way, this is not saying they should trade into the Lakers per se, but just should you do deal now. I sedan, sir. Is this should wait. Just like you just have to do. The Lakers is just anybody. They should wait. This doesn't do the Celtics. Also, everybody's for everybody. Think about it. This. This move will probably happen after draft. Let's say if the drought what if the Knicks get the number one pick right in trade that pay that right? There is intriguing for the pelicans to get that number one pick in Trey Anthony Davis to New York. It's more options will come back late. It's all the all the time line put before right now only applies to the Lakers. Everyone else is there are there. Are there are pros? And there are const and all of the ideas of why you wait until the summer are real. I'm not saying the real I am personally a little more risk averse, which is probably why I am not a GM right of a team. But risks risks worry me when this is the greatest asset your franchises going to have guys get hurt. And by the way, John wall, just got her home AD, even if you sit him the rest of the season still gonna work out. He's still going to be on the practice sport. He's still going to be at his house. He's still gonna just have. He could get hurt. More the guy you have your eye on trading for could get hurt. Jason Tatum could get hurt. Zayn? Williamson could get hurt guys get hurt. Also. I think that if you have leverage now, forget the Celtics and forget the Lakers. If I am he stern conference team that thinks I am close. And I could trade. AD for the next to- playoffs. Even if he considers those rental and by doing that you keep him away from Boston. I think that's pretty interesting to the all the all the circles, it comes all back to the pelicans del Dem's. They'll doesn't feel compelled to make a deal right now. I'm with you bird in the hand versus tuna Bush. It's what they should thing that for me the risk would make me. But really, it's all that's why GM, but it's a good point. Because it's all about what what are we value? Do we value security or do we value the big splash that may not happen? And so I get what you're saying. But I think the main thing is there's nothing that's on the table now that could get off the table. Meaning if Dell's says okay, Lakers, it's pretty good offer still be there. They're just somebody. Another team is getting to play playoffs verses one playoff team. Could by the way trade for him. Now use him through this. Then they could auction him off this summer. But you know, we'll see what happens come out. We're gonna show you an extended version of my conversation with Tracy McGrady and Coby there is so much good stuff in this conversation. I can't even oversell it. I really can't. I told her producers when we came back from this. How good it was. And they all watch it. And it said you may be undersold it. The best thing you've ever done. This is our district replay. He said we want to LA. But if he's traded, I don't what was it Window World. Phoenix is the best fit for him. And I'm going to speak it into existence. Well, the sons reportedly reached out to vote leaguers pelicans to express their interest in a Quiring Lonzo. So. I mean, would you like to see the full family has a newest catch members? On sons of anarchy right now. Rachel some more drama true feedings, we if lawns basketball wise. That's a great lavar is is pretty bright in one in his kids. Not just the opposite because he'd have opportunity New Orleans, but this is a team that's starved star for a point guard and a point guard of his salad plate wants to just get it up. Get other guys involved. It would be irony of having had three of those kinds of point guards. At one point. Let's keep talking about it. But here's the thing you tell me lavar ball Roberts over I'm telling you, they need their own spin all show spinoff own show. This is owned Joe in show within a show is some. I know key is a whole is Asian Robert, lavar, that's a whole different show by itself. I I actually liked this look for him if they can make this happen. I expected more out of Lonzo in his sophomore year in the league. But of course. You know, bring LeBron James. So your your team changed everything gonna have to take backseat? I actually think he will flourish and become the player that I of you know, I predicted that he could become a Jason kill like, you know, playing along with those two young players Booker and the under eighteen I think it's a perfect fill several people yesterday noting that if the ball family did end up getting Phoenix, and lavar was running around criticizing ownership as he has done another places. At least everyone in the city would agree with him. So. Coming up. We're gonna airport one of Tracy nice at down with Kobe Bryant. This interview is so good. We are splitting up into two segments of this show because we have so much to show you they discuss their early friendship there on court rivalry so much more next. You are watching the jump state tuned for this. Thursday of one PM eastern. Oh, yes. We will be live for three hours leading up to the NBA trade deadline this show. We'll have everything woes bombs home affairs, given their hot takes. And of course, then trade Craig is back. I don't care. Messy metric, it's fine. It's going to be so much fun. I can't wait. But but I I am just over the moon about this next conversation. Kobe Bryant recently launched mambas force academy. It is amazing facility Tracy, and I were there. It's a hundred thousand square feet multi sport training facility in LA for young athletes. We went to go check it out, Tracy and Kobe. They got a little bit of a history there. So we talked about everything from why MBA players have the right to make trade demands to why Kobe's Tracy McGrady was the hardest player he ever had to defend and g I I don't know if these two should still be playing. We'll just say. Mcgrady? The Grady rouges Gobi Bryant wild when you first met when you guys I got to know each other as teenagers. Did you recognize right away? You're kind of kindred spirits and approached the game. But he was he was freakishly more athletic and taller than ours in I had to work because I was a little bit more reserved and never been around somebody worked as hard as he did. And I learned that from him I had athleticism, but the work ethic part I had to get from being around him over you when you guys met. Eighteen nineteen right. Because you're a year ahead. This is when I knew okay, he likes to play mind games. He always trying to get edge on whoever opponents, whatever I don't care if I'm his friend, whatever. So I told him I said about the go workout, and he was like what are you going to work out for you off season like they will need to work out. And I'm looking at him. So go back to my room change, easy to for a minute. I go to the weight room. This do. And I'm looking. What? So I had to take this do right here. So he's always going to have an edge of a hard time understanding with sarcasm. Cash taking. But I did I remember we went to Disneyland and somebody was afraid of rollercoaster. I was gonna ask about that roller coaster. It wasn't that. I was afraid at least that we just had lunch. This match on the drag me on a roller coaster. Sounds like. Let's. Would you see after him doing after rooster? Dale. I was so mad, and he was he was he was not the same resin. When talk to me, he was so pissed I was gonna wait till later. I'm gonna get to it now. So you have told a story to you on a trip to Germany where y'all played one on one supposedly him. And according to you you want. Supposed smoke. We're not we didn't play one on. What I did you go to? Wasn't keeping score. What we were doing keeping score. What we were we working on footwork on the police we will working out individually, and then we working on stuff on the post keep score plan. If somebody's playing a workout and if the person's scores keep the ball. What is that? We wasn't keeping score. Have you ever been with him where he wasn't keeping score the question? Let's be honest best the question, No him has he ever? I mean, please. Here's a Cup of coffee and keep score keeping score. I was keeping score eleven to three. Three. I know about it. I remember I can't believe the guy that doesn't even know the location where we were playing. But then. But then. Forget for twenty years. Cursory one country may be off. Now, I may forget a lot of things you forgot where we them not gonna forget the school. It's okay. All right, man. You got a off day. Germany pairs leading all notes to the best of me. Didn't happen to me that day. I'll tell you that much. See you guys brought different things to it when you were teenagers and working out together and doing all that he was, you know, straight out of high school so high profile how did you end up at his house? Like, you know, he's been there. You know in those those shoes, and I felt like what better person to learn from? This is all new to me, then somebody that's already been through it. And you know, we became we hit it off status house watching karate flicks. Yeah. That's where we together with spy. Our scared hill rented, some might Tyson. Everybody told me what they said is Tracy potentials off choice. Potentials off the charts. In for me was a time where? A lot of flack for being a young player coming league. And I'm looking at another player coming out of highest move. I'm like, okay, we need to make noise. We need to show old guys that we can come out of high school and do some serious damage older guard. They're not so excited about having these young kids from highs come together first year, I called him like every week or it was a lot that I talked to him on the phone because I was going through it. And I know he went through his rookie season. So I had somebody to lean on like y'all man, you know, you come out of high school, you may get notice shots, and Dan you come to NBA team and your play one game probably twenty minutes, and you don't see the floor for five it was inconsistent. And I was being very, and I was like it was it was doing something my confidence. Right. So I had to lean on him at that time and we talk relentlessly Bob response. I went I went to villainous room was just like, okay. Well. Very on his bench. Everybody's gonna pay for this. I'm gonna show everyone that I was deserving of this plan time as a rookie in as sophomore season. But I use it as motivations some form of vengeance. They'll Harris still to this day. I mean, we joke about it a lot because you really didn't play much. And I remember that game when he came to LA with the Dallas Mavericks, and he will head coach of that game. Oh, yeah. He's for that. I remember telling them that was in nineteen ninety seven man. Doesn't matter. Tracy has said to me that as he served come up more in the league. And that you guys became more rivals on the court. He says that's when you stop hanging out as much now because you didn't like each other. But just back then it was like, hey, if you were going at each other for real you didn't socialize enjoy the show. We'll take the microphone last. Good. Well, let me tell you tell your story. So I mean, he went to Orlando. And we were trying to win our championships and allay so absolutely bury myself more so in the craft and literally cut everybody out my life just focused on that. But I remember in a playoffs. You guys are playing the Milwaukee Bucks and one year and me and Vanessa went out to lunch and went to a restaurant, and they had TV's restaurant. I remember sitting there watching. I mean, you just just cooking. I mean, just like they call the puppy dog wasn't. I remember sitting in a restaurant Washington and Tel Aviv man that the real deal. He's made it when we started out like as young as together. But I remember filling such joy because of what he was doing. So even never actually told him that there's a sense of pride. That's his has. I'm going. That's the. So we we've got a whole other part of this coming up right after the break. Stick around. You're gonna hear them talk about how much they regret not maneuvering to play to gather. By the way. Here's the recommend sports day head over to you you can participate in our interactive all-star draft. This is really cool. You can feel Braun or Jaanus and see how your team stacks up. I did this. Five four. This combo is so people. There on Kevin Godley tonight on sports how John walls new injury could shake up the NBA trade market inside the Lakers coward panic to acquire Anthony Davis. How raiders could control the NFL drip and Dickie v live on Duke and Zion sixties permit for PTI. There were some games. We were looking back over the numbers and stuff. There is a game two thousand two thousand three season was insane. Between the two of you made me fall. You should be some we should be so bad. But still you embarrassed Mosey. Got Tepa slim. What was it like going against each other? Because I knew I was going to get his best. There was no backing down. Like, I knew I had to come and play against his do every single possession. Then it brought the best out of me because you know, you play so many guys some nights, you know, you could draw forty and you don't really have to go on with him. You sleep on more. Get embarrassed. I mean, I I love I rarely stores opportunities. I remember yet. Coach coach wall down our Landau. And I came out early to say hi to Tyler. I think it was telling me max ready for you max max ready for the game. I remember reading about you having some tightness in your bag. Yeah. Houses back. Also, he's ready for USA. He's gonna be fine. When I hit him in. Check check back. I had like twenty one in the first half. Sward is do I think I. Came up got a rebound. And when I went down he jumped up behind me. And I swear I got it. I swear. Contusion our now, I had a computer. Joe he did that because I was cooking in the first half, right? Of copies know, that's gonna happen. Just wanted to test. The back house. Healthy. But I don't I can't speak for him. I was watching him from when I was in Orlando, especially two to three seat when I led the league score and its do wrong off like nine straight, forty points. I was like oh hail. I can't let him come get inside. I might not win the championship this year. But I'm damn sure getting scoring title. Always wish if I player to play with this guy because he lets he could do everything I could do it. But he was talking. Kids about that. That's what I tell them. The ask about the hardest player. I ever had the fan. It's pretty easy tracing because he could do everything do. But again, all of that stuff came from him, no training together as young pups and sin how he worked and then watching him as eat became this. You know? One of the greatest players have played a game, the footwork, right? How you posted gains. I took a couple of his moves, and I'm gonna sit here and said, he don't have to know he took couple one one move in particular. I see it all the time when he was planning. Okay. We only two guys that do that. Right. All right. So let's take this to present day because since the NBA ABA merger. There are only three humans on earth who have had these crazy scoring streaks thirty points or more over and over and over again, you had fourteen games in a row you had sixteen games in a row. And James harden, of course, crazy streak the season. What do you think of what he's doing right now? I'm not a fan of in terms of winning championships styles. Everyone win championships. But at the same time you have to keep your team's head above water to win games. You have to do jeopardy the wings. And he's doing right now. I think. So are you saying you don't think James harden rockets as constructed can win a title style of play won't win right with one player dominating the ball. Now, you have Chris Ball come back, and you have more more moving to the office where you move guys around where you're harder to find. Now, let's take one player. You put them at the top of the key where you put him on the wing run at screen roles. You're always in front of the defence the defence can key on tickly into playoffs. That's easy. Now what he's doing is. Absolutely remarkable though. And I think. A testament to how remarkable it is. Because people are now trying to minimize what it is that he's doing image doing phenomenal stuff. I could ask you Anthony Davis even on the radio once said you wanted to be traded from LA, what do you think of a AD warning out of New Orleans? Got a right to do with the hell he wants to do. I mean, I listen teams have the right to trade players signed players, do whatever they want. They can speak their piece, do whatever they want player shall free to be able to say, in voice their opinion. I mean at some point, you know, you spend six or seven years, and you feel like you're not competing for championship. At some point. You're going to want to get the hell out of there. And and our organization that is serious about winning I dealt with that. Right. I dealt with that in Orlando. You wanna win you see, you know, you contemporary win a championship you see your friends winning championships. And that's the ultimate goal. All right. So Mr. Laker aggressive should this year's this season's this week's Los Angeles, Lakers be-. No. Basketball players make him. The guy was batching Johnson running his John. You want your team to make a big push for AD held. Maybe it depends on what you're trying to come in which a long-term jackets now Massana LeBron Yar you make an indication that you want to win them. Right. So I think it'd be a smart thing to do for the Lakers to look at them. But the same time to to to play a little bit of poker. I ask you about LeBron. I don't think it's a coincidence that he had the worst stretch of games out. The worst injury of his career went after he turned thirty four you snap. Your achilles at age thirty four. What do you think? Lebron's time line is and the pressure that puts on the Lakers in terms of their overall. Just depends how he adapts his game. Some point you have to be ball. So the speed and the power that is used to plan with has the chain which he can because now yeahs guy giving sides to be able to adapt and go to below the free throw us more power. Magic did a lot of magic at six nine went down to the post a lot attracted double teams down to make plays from there. And he's he's more than capable of doing that. And playing for a long long time Michael Jordan play when he was forty Kareem Abdul Jabbar play when he was forty Vince Carter is out there playing when he's forty two. Guys think maybe I could still go back and do it. One pickup game hurting. I tried. I tried at the house Monday. I was playing. Hurt. No, I I know if I wanted to could I don't want to. Sure, I'm sure. If I wanted to could you know, you diet, you gotta really really obsessive about it. You can do it with the technology nutrition. Studies all that you have. Now could certainly do it. I just don't want to. I mean visits out there women, man. It's like he ended up don't conscious man come on on on that were her seriously. Maybe forty two year old cat Chiro neutron. Here's a kill a hold on. This guy was doing stuff back into their kids. Still can't do to this day. Forty two. He wasn't gonna do it. Should you should have you seen don't count? You know what I thought about? 'cause I know he participated in. What was it ninety seven? And we had the lockout what the next year. You you invent you think you would have got a new, no. Why I enter? Zac answer is like why gonna have this Carter beat me? It's not going to have these two guys. Now that you're sitting here forty years old thirty nine years old you look back on all of this. Is there anything you tell these guys before we go? This Dan age, we try to figure out a way to trade and play with each other. Real. We should have been talking about that that age right there. Now, how can we get on the same team that would have been for? First of all it just made me so happy to sit there and talk to you guys. And I remember so many those moments. I was very young reporter while you guys were young coming up in the league and socal the revisit all of that. And he thinks things should be in the contest, and I did not prompt him, by the way, he brought that up all on his own. Thank you very much. I thought drafting was dead. Kobe Bryant just provided cue-card behind. Kobe raw for that benefited hisself out his yes. But that was great right to be able to relive that. We will talk in the next segment about some of Kobe thoughts on James harden, James response to Kobe thoughts on James harden way for it. We've also had a little bit more NPR news. Because of course, we do its trade week. Here's another district way. Though. This is this date in two thousand six. Glutton's speedy. Oh. Basketball. Hanging out with Bob low. We're here in a few minutes to discuss whether the pelicans and being greedy those Aaron Rodgers have trust issue. The return lavar ball and dissecting story time with Kobe Bryant, and our friend, Tracy McGrady state job right now. Stick around to you, Matt Mack. He Wayne back. Tracey this week's NBA Saturday, primetime games. Each of the players worse is good. Named are good. Hard in Huston. So good NBA countdown. Eight o'clock eastern on ABC watch that show verse. All right. It's crunch time on the job. So Chris porzingus confirming yesterday that the plan indeed remains for him to sit out this season. Do you think that's the right call remember member? He tore that ACL Betty or go to recovers nine to twelve months. This is really excessive, but it actually favors him more than it does the team he wouldn't wanna come back with rusty and then jeopardize however, much money gonna make him free agency. No playoff run to work on your skills. Get better he ready for twenty nine hundred and he'll still get to like workout with Lucas that chemistry bills. And he just said I loved him his press conference USA yesterday too excited. He was to be around Dirk for the rest of the season. That was his I growing up pretty cool. All right. Thank you. Mr Chris Bosh, the Miami Heat announcing they will indeed retire Chris's number one in March. This is so well deserved in seaman. I do not understand people who question. This guy's hall of fame. Prudential's? This is a no brainer. Right no-brainer. He'll join you in the hall of fame. When you look at what he did as an individual and in Toronto. And then as the player. And by the way, international play too. All even if you never put the two years. And the first step. Congrats Chris Bosh injury in the whole family team Jaanus Koumba. To the Colombo says he is planning to pick Steph curry this first pick if the former MVP is still on the board at the all-star shar draft. Now, this is predicated on him saying he thinks LeBron is gonna take Kevin Durant fraud. So do you think he feels bad because he dunked on Steph pretty hard? Three. What do you have for me here? I wanna see LeBron Steph on the same team. Never never played. I don't think I've ever played in. Recruiting rates with point. The trade deadline will have already passed there isn't really need to recruit AD at that point. If they still in the pelicans. So really you really look into that two thousand nineteen free agent class. Kevin durant? Maybe I don't know Clayton. Right. Quite good one. Welcome back to jump earlier in our show. Kobe. Bryant said these style of basketball James harden is playing isn't going to win a title. Here's James harden said in response. He's probably right. This way clan. Won't have an NFL won't get us where we wanna go. But we haven't had a full roster yet. So. I'm excited for that to come. I again things taken a little bit. You headline goes never looks at the headline Tracy U N Koby were both saying, hey, it's the style of play. He has to play right now. But that going toward the playoff. You didn't think he was gonna win? You saw that life there. What what what what on that chart thousand dribbles? This stays. This season. Anybody else is back, by the way. Komo's speak out on you know, those guys being out James having to carry that Lowell Weddell geyser out. I mean, yes to do what you gotta do. Right. However, he's gonna have to defer to Chris Paul to really beginning that now. No. Because Chris Paul has only played a few games being back. He don't want that load on Chris Paul and potential, you know, have been injured. So he's going to need those guys in the playoffs. I it can't be dribble dribble. Step back three and thinking they're going to win a championship with James doing what he's doing is. Great to see what he's doing right now. But for championship run. No. He's going to have to defer. Yeah. Shut out. The Ashley never who asked. That question. James harden, last nine Phoenix. Yeah. No. I don't think Kobe Saturday. As the understand in this kind of what we've been saying all along as he's not doing this. Because he's a worse is how I like to play basketball. He's doing it because that's what's necessary for survival. And you can't say we can't win in the playoffs. Like that. If you don't make the playoffs in the first place. We'll have to see how many miles. He's guy on him. When he gets to the playoffs. That's a whole other situation. Lebron cleared to play tonight against the Pacers. This is the Lakers final game before the trade deadline. He spoke to the media earlier today, he was asked his teammates should feel about being named in these trade talks. Take a listen. Right now. This is what we have. And this is Mark group in this group. I'm trying to lead down win ballgames and all of ever done always have had teammates every year. It'd be a part of trade dayline discussions and things of that nature. And we've always figured out a way to shield that way and just play the game. So guys happened to get traded. And we notice the business side of pace definitely hurts to lose. Teammates, you know, especially at this point in the season. But it's business. It doesn't mean that. You're you're fired. You don't have a job and the nets you still have a job, and you still haven't quite again to less. If you guys were LeBron's teammate. How'd you? Kind of deals. You got on the table. Options right here. Now, Lonzo so hard on gotta go Ingram battle. I come on. We gotta get AD Tudo, whatever you'd have. Oh. King James he looked like king King, James. He looked like king Tut in that clip for. Business. Our trade if I'm those guys I look at it look me, and I'll treat me for Anthony Davis to know what I'm saying you have to look at it like that so play ball until you get traded just go do what you do control melamine Mesa's come here the tweet during the Super Bowl. In the words of the greatly. Great Rigg games is cold. I mean, if you're the young Lakers hasn't their whole career in the setup for this. I dunno. And look the way things have been going in for though, probably still be mad team on Thursday night against the Celtics. All right just over a week ago. The news broke that Anthony Davis had asked for trade. According to Chris Haines, pelicans management blocked AD from playing in last night's game won't reporting now that the pelicans are listing Davis questionable for tomorrow against the bulls. We've been talking all week it makes sense for the pelicans to sit Aideed the rest of the year if they are going to try to trade him in the summer. I just keep thinking gosh, the NBA can't be thrilled with the idea that a healthy top ten player would just missed the last few months of the season of all this. I'm not saying the penitents we've been wrong. Sri by all star week trained allow him to play the season out. Too nervous. I'm risk averse. There you go.

The lead starts right right now. President trump wants a trial right away but speaker Pelosi wants to make sure it's fair. Who will blink in the standoff over the Senate impeachment trial piling? Highly on Mayor Pete. Democrats clash over a wine cave in the last debate of the year. What has the candidates seeing red as they approached the Iowa caucuses plus a sitting republican state rep accused of domestic terrorism by taking part in armed conflicts? There was a time when that kind of thing would enter political career but these these are not normal. Welcome to the lead. I'm Briana Keeler Jake Tapper and we begin with the politics lead you. You'd think it would be a great gift for President Trump Speaker Pelosi holding onto the articles of impeachment instead of sending them over to the Senate to begin the formal impeachment trial but the president is looking for total exoneration as CNN Sara Murray reports Speaker Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell now at stalemate as Congress goes on a holiday holiday break president. Trump's impeachment trial maybe officially stole but behind the scenes house. Democrats are getting ready staff for the the key. House committees are expected to work over the holiday recess consulting with Democratic leadership prepping for a trial as early as the week of January six. But that depends on house speaker speaker. Nancy Pelosi who says she won't send the articles of impeachment to the Senate until parameters for a Senate trial are set when they wrote the constitution. They suspected that it could be a real president. I don't think they suspected that we could have a road. President and a rogue leader in the Senate at the same time in the Senate majority leader. Mitch McConnell this afternoon arranged for White House staff to get a lay of the land in the chamber after failing to cut a deal Thursday with minority leader Chuck Schumer on the rules for a trial. We we remain at an impasse. McConnell argued rules from previous impeachments should suffice to believe that the unanimous bipartisan precedent. That was good enough for Oh President Clinton ought to be good enough for president. Trump fair is fair plus Schumer push for an agreement to include testimony from witnesses such as former national security adviser John Bolton and Acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney leader McConnell is plotting the most rush lease thorough and most just unfair impeachment trial in modern history the standoff means lawmakers are leaving Washington with the status of an impeachment trial in limbo until the new year. Aw But if Pelosi's power play was meant to unnerve McConnell he insists it's backfiring other house. Democrats seem to be suggesting. They'd prefer never transmit the articles now despite the acrimony between the two parties today Nancy Pelosi extended an invitation to President trump to deliver the state eight of the Union before a joint session of Congress on February fourth. The President Briana has accepted. All right. Sara Murray thank you so much. Let's talk about what Pelosi actually wrote in that invitation and shall we quote in their great wisdom. Our founders crafted a constitution based on a system of separation of powers three coequal branches acting as checks on each other to ensure that balance powers the constitution calls for the president to from time to time. Give the Congress information of the State of the Union I I it just seems it might be too cynical. It seems a little bit like shade to me. Would you say milk tweeting. Some language can't but look the timing of. This could really incredible given that. We don't know the timing of the Senate impeachment trial it could coincide at the same time. That trump delivers his state of the Union address which actually happened in Bill Clinton's impeachment but he didn't talk about Impeachment Bill Clinton. He talked about the economy he talked about y two K and you can imagine this president might take a different approach. If if he's being the same time y two k what blasting takes you back you may sort of realized how long ago that was. What would you expect from that chairman the idea that president trump? I don't think he'd be able to have that kind of discipline to you. I do not. I think that he would not be able to contain himself being in the chamber. Ambridge that impeached Impeach trump. I mean he would be smart if he would talk about some of the successes and there are some things in the economy. Really strong seventy six percent saying that that they they're happy where the economy is going is huge for any political figure going into an election And I I don't know the press if if the president goes is in doesn't try to highlight those things talks about. Impeachment continues to kind of shoot himself in the foot. It's about what's going on with impeachment right now. sung-min Pelosi said. She's not going to hand over these articles of impeachment until she sees that the process on the Senate side is fair so she either House to extract something from Mitch McConnell title. WHO's very savvy as we know speaker Pelosi's savvy? He's very savvy right as I'm not saying one over the other just saying maybe there's a match there right or she. She is to cave in a bit of a boxer. Well it's a puzzling move to say the least. Because if you're you're trying to put leverage over McConnell by withholding something that he does not want to totally fine not having so. I think what Democrats were trying to do here. And you kinda hints of it yesterday. When senator Lindsey Graham went to the White House and spoke with the press spoke with President? Trump privately I think what Democrats had sort of strategize at the outset. was that perhaps hold onto these delay. Delay The trial and delay the acquittal or in the president's view the exoneration that he's so wants from a Senate trial and while the president was out there very kind of almost mocking Nancy Pelosi Democrats for their strategy yesterday. I felt Graham's comments really interesting when he said I just left a meeting with president trump. He is quote mad as hell all they would delay this trial so maybe the strategy will work in that sense. Trump gets angry at McConnell tries to get him to move but for now it. I'm I'm not sure how this strategy will play out at the end. I'm not sure it's Pelosi's benefit just yet but to some degree. It's doing what it's intended to do. It's making him crazy. It's making him tweet tweet even more whereas if that were possible and also I mean look. It is a very serious matter that you have Mitch. McConnell and Lindsey Graham saying they're actually already going to not honor the Oath they're supposed to sign when we start the impeachment process in the Senate. I mean they are supposed to sign an oath to see that they're impartial. They're going to consider all the evidence they both already said. We're not doing that so she is well within her right to say until we can have some assurance so we're going to have something of a fair process. I'm going to hold back and give us some some more allegra leverage and it's such a contrast to how it was in Clinton's impeachment where Trent Lott and Tom Daschle. We're trying to be statesman. They had really tried to make it a more thoughtful process losses in the Senate that it had been in the house. Do you worry though that maybe it makes her and house. Democrats and Democrats in general. Look a little considering. She's been talking. What about being prayerful? And she's been talking about how this is solemn and perhaps this could undercut that a bit because again when you have Mitch McConnell saying I mean he he is supposed to be the leader of this process and he basically already said when I signed that I'm a liar because I'm not even GonNa be impartial. I'm not going to be unbiased. I know what I'm GONNA do. Lindsey Graham has already said I know what I'm going to do and I think that makes them look very petty. The one question I have to though Democrats perhaps may need to explain is that they talked about the issue of time. I mean that was the main reason why they did. Not Litigate the issue of the issues of the subpoenas that were being defined by the administration and the courts they said. The President President appears to be a significant danger ahead of the two thousand twenty elections. That's why we have to move expeditiously on this impeachment process but if you're holding out and Delaying during the trial and delaying kind of that second major part of the impeachment process That's a question that I think. A lot of us have had for the Democratic leadership. It was really interesting and I'm curious what you think chairman about out this Harvard. Law Professor Noah Feldman who wrote quote if the articles are not transmitted trump could legitimately say that. He wasn't truly impeached at all. That's because impeachment human under the Constitution means that sending approved articles to the Senate with House manager standing up in the Senate and saying the president is impeached. And he's an important voice voice because Democrats in the House had him on their hand picked panel of constitutional experts. Who really thought? Trump should be impeached. I'm not buying it. You're not buying you think this is some crazy kind of. That's a stretch for an argument. The president was impeached with the vote in the house. Like it or not the love. The president don't like the president. He was impeached in the house. What I see here is and I think it was going to work against the Democrats because that most of the public? That's out there wondering I don't think that is a cesspool of partisan politics back in Washington DC. If the impeachment looks even more political goal than they think it already has I think cuts against the Democrats and so if Democrats in tight seats. They're going to have to try to explain why they made their vote and all the way by by the way. We're playing this political game on trying to frame the frame the narrative that I want when it goes to the Senate I think this is fraught with political trouble. I think Schumer talked Pelosi into it over. You know over a conversation and now they're trying to dig their way out. I don't think this was well. We're back with the politics lead in a matter of of our president trump will leave Washington for his mar-a-lago resort where Mr Trump often hobnobs with friends and outside allies have tremendous influence over his decision making as C. N. N.'s Kaitlan Collins reports. It's a major point of concern for White House. Aides fresh off impeachment and eager for vindication. President trump is heading to his private Florida club tonight for a two week vacation but his aides are worried. He'll have too much time on his hands as his impeachment. Trial is looming sources. Say the next two weeks will be critical and there are big decisions about his defense strategy to be made leading to concern learn about outside influence on trump as he dines engulfs with old buddies at mar-a-lago that as a new report in the Washington Post sheds light on the outside outside influence. A foreign leader has had on trump former White House officials say they fear. Russian President Vladimir Putin lead trump to believe it was was Ukraine not Russia that interfered in the twenty sixteen election. One ex aide said trump explained the baseless theory by saying quote Putin told. Let me reminding many of this moment when he sided with the Russian leader over his own intelligence agencies President Putin He just said it's not Russia I will say this. I don't see any reason why it would be for now. The president is focused on his impeachment trial and demanding to know when and it will be a just left president trump. He's mad as hell that they would do this to him. And now deny him his day in court after trump said it's likely likely his White House counsel will lead his defense team. That's been fantastic. As White House counsel his. Close ally. Senator Lindsey Graham advocated for this Defense Defense Strategy Thursday night. I told him my view was you should treat this like a supreme court argument power. The president pick somebody outside the political arena. It now Brianna. The president is expected to be well staffed during his trip at least during the second half of it. When the White House Counsel Pats at Bologna Jared Kushner the Acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney and the press secretary among other top aides are all expected to be on property with the president as he's got these pretty crucial decisions nations to make before game time Indeed and we'll be watching Kaelin. Thank you so much Kaitlan Collins there on the North Lawn. Let's talk about the president heading out tomorrow. Law Go for a couple of weeks. AIDS are worried. Should they be yet. What is he going to tweet? Who is he going to be talking to? Who's going to be his ear? Is he going to make any brash. Decisions about this upcoming Senator Al.. There's still a lot of decisions. He hasn't made so especially about his defense team. Is it going to be pats at Bologna. Whose leading it is Mick Mulvaney going to have a hand? He's also trying to bring in some of his allies in the house to come in and shore up his defense so clearly he's thinking about this. He wants the most aggressive defense possible especially because he's probably not going to get the witnesses he want want so there's a lot riding on who. He picks his defense team in Karen. If you put the shoe on the other foot if this were a democratic president doesn't have something to be frustrated about. As is he goes on vacation hanging over him one impeachment. He's in the middle of that and also there's this sort of stall that's happening with the articles of impeachment. Well I can't put the shoe on the other foot because I did work for Bill Clinton in this period and this is part of why the strategy of having an outside strategy where you are talking about the economy and you talking about your accomplishments actually worse because while you might be frustrated you know that you are still making headway on other issues and at this point all trump is really talking. If I talk about the deal got done in. The last couple of weeks always talking about is his frustration and anger over impeachment. So he's the one who's defining that narrative for the next couple of weeks. We know certainly where his mind is. something else that he may or may not be choosing to deal with. Is that late today. We learned that twenty-five Jewish members of Congress are calling for trump adviser. Stephen Miller Miller to be fired. This is for what they described his support for white nationalist and anti immigrant rhetoric after e Mail showed that he was promoting those views and organizations allied allied with those views. The trump administration claims that it is in fact Miller being subjected himself to Anti Semitism. I wonder what what you you think of this. especially as you've seen some of what are in these Miller emails. I think everybody has the right to defend themselves before we get in this era of social media in all of that you really want to be accurate. That in fact is the case but if it is there's just no place in the serious levels of government for Anti Semitic activities at a- at any level in the government and that worries me a lot when you saw what's in these emails I mean so that's just it's to you. It's very clear. Well I mean when you read the the email yes but I and I have to always suspect in this era with the ability to manipulate. You need to make sure it can't be just a social report on what's an email email anymore because people overreact it because I think this is really serious. If if he's actually saying those things and believes those things and serving in the capacity is in the White House to me. That's a problem you can't have it and so let's make sure that that's accurate. And if so then I if I were the president I would make some changes. You just can't tolerate but it certainly follows a pattern. I mean we know that Stephen Moore has been involved in some of the most outrageous cruel policies of the trump administration ration- when it comes to immigration. We know that during the twenty six campaign from our own reporting with Sarah side that he had supposedly was running the he was the political editor of Breitbart. And there was plenty plenty of very inappropriate comments racist bigoted sexist comment so sure. Let him have his day in court. But I think it's fairly clear he's not someone who should be in any way this ship performing the White House. Let's talk about a key. Line that was in the Washington Post report on this push of this Ukraine conspiracy theory about the origins agents of interference in the election in two thousand sixteen one former senior White House officials said trump even stated so explicitly at one point saying he knew Ukraine was the real culprit Britt because Putin told me because Putin told me someone is remarkable reporting from my colleagues there at the post this is. I mean we've seen publicly this fixation station on the debunked theory. That Ukraine had interfered in the two thousand sixteen election for some time from the president. And what's really noticeable now and is that a lot of his Republican allies in Congress are deflecting attention towards bad debunked theory. You've seen an increasing number of Senate Republicans talk about this House. Republicans Publican's you've had a chairman in the Senate launch investigations that demand documents into Ukraine's again. The debunk that debunked theory. And I think as you as the Senate trial heats up I think you're going to have some Republicans try to deflect that Even when national security officials that just Fiona Hill have said this is absolutely not true or are Senate Democrats in Lockstep on impeachment. We're going to ask one Democratic senator. WHO's facing a tough reelection fight in a ruby red state? There's still time to send Omaha steaks to everyone on your list but don't wait too long. All eyes are on Democrats invulnerable states to see if they will risk reelection and vote to remove the president from office or Cross party lines and vote against it joining me now is Democratic senator. Doug Jones of Alabama sir. Thanks for joining US pleasure. Thanks for having me. You've been non-committal middle at this point on impeachment. I know you're still making up your mind waiting to see what happens. So how are you feeling about the vote. What have you been hearing from your constituents? Well I think we're a long way from having a vote we we haven't even got the rules of procedure yet. That's what the big news has been the last few days. What is the what is the Senate GonNa do? I mean senator. McConnell is holding back He accused Democrats in the House of having an unfair process. He seems to be wanting to take a playbook and have an unfair process assists and not a full fare and complete trial with with witnesses. So you know from what I'm doing I am. I'm reading the record from the House. I don't know if we'll have additional record or not spending a lotta time doing that. And I've got folks call in the office emailing the office and it's a little bit both ways supporting the president others that want to have the president removed from office. I think it's going to heat up more once we get back in January and we finally hopefully by then we'll have some rules and the articles of impeachment will be over and we'll know what we're doing. There are House. Democrats in vulnerable districts who voted to impeach in the house. And they say they're okay with risking losing their seat. If you're a Democratic senator in Alabama if your conscience leads you to vote to remove president trump from office. Is that something. You're willing to do knowing that you're going going to risk losing your seat. Well I think my oath of office and my duty to the constitution and the rule of law comes first I and so my conscience is going to be my God. I've got a fair amount of experience. Prosecuting and defending cases. I'm looking at this record. I'm going back and forth but at the end of the day. We'll take a second note to do fair and impartial justice according to the constitution and the laws United States And that's another reason while I'm looking at this because if I violate that oath of a lady the oath of office took a US senator. I I am perplexed as to how somebody can. Now take an oath of office and say they're impartial when there have been impartial. They're not going to be in. They proclaimed and they're not going to be impartial. So my duty and my conscience is gonNA rest with it. Oh Oath of office and that's where I'll stand. Do you really think that senators can save their impartial that they really are impartial. Well I do believe that I mean I think you're looking at an example of that what I am trying to do. What I think is in the best interest of the country This is about the future of the presidency. It's about the future of the Congress about the future of the country. That's a pretty weighty the that's pretty weighty on anybody shoulders and I think once we get in then in the solemn the of the occasion is going to really weigh on some people. This is N- should not be a partisan partisan issue When I when this first broke before we left in October I gave a long speech on the Senate floor about people getting out of their partisan corners? It is not easy to do in the political article. Divide that we're seeing in this country today but the fact of the matter is that's what we we're in the Senate to do. That's what we're supposed to do what the oath requires and I think we what we really need to be focusing on. It's a process that's going to give the president of the United States a full trial fair trial. He has been waiting as he said over. And over and over again for a fair trial in the US Senate but that fair trial is also got to be fair to the American public and not have gaps in the evidence. You can still convict or somebody not guilty guilty with APP gaps in the evidence but the fact is we need to know all of the evidence we need to know from the people there firsthand knowledge. The people that were in the room that can tell us one way or another another because all these facts are coming out sooner or later whether they get leaked out or whether they get foyer or whether they're coming out in a in a book by one of those one of those guys to to your point lean about getting out of your partisan corner in the middle of this divisive impeachment and might really surprise a lot of people to realize that the president is signing the defense authorization bill today and it has a bipartisan fix to the Kiddie tax in the widows tax which are penalties on Gold Star families in the benefits that they receive for the loss of their servicemember loved. Ones use spearheaded this effort with Republican Senator Susan Collins and in order to get this congress had reached a deal on a lot of issues the Democrats. The Republicans don't agree on. Why can't there be more of this? Well I think there is a lot more going on than than what people see. I think if you just look at what's happened in the last two weeks with the Indie a there's a lot of things. There is the paid parental leave the NDA. There's modernizing the military. There's a three point one percent pay raise for for our military families. We've also did the Future Act where we permanently fund H inman serving institutions. There was a deal reached on. US NCA where the president did a great job of negotiating that in Democrats in the house made it even better. There's a lot at that really goes on just kind of gets lost in the shuffle of mainstream media as well as social social media that we talk about the partisan divide but the fact is learn a lot of people reaching across the hour. Right now to try to figure out the ways to get things done for this country and I think if you just look at what what happened in the last two weeks. Assad from impeachment there was a lot of great things for the American people. Senator Doug Jones of Alabama. Thank you for joining us. The field of Democratic candidates finding out for one last burst of campaigning before the holidays with Amy Klobuchar opening at twenty seven county. Bus Tour of Iowa were Pete. Buddha judge is heading this weekend today. There debate class still reverberating after closure aggressively challenged the qualifications of the thirty seven year. Old South Bend Mayor. I have not denigrated your experiences. A local official I have been one actually did denigrate. My Experience Senator and I was going to let it go because we got bigger fish to fry here but we have bigger fish than picking a president of the United States. Buddha judge also coming under fire from Elizabeth Warren who repeatedly questioned his fundraising practices actresses including a recent Napa valley event billionaires in wine caves should not pick the next president of the United States Buddha jet responding that he welcomes most donations because according to Forbes magazine. I'm literally the only person on this stage. Who's not a millionaire or billionaire? The night of fireworks on stage did little to settle one of the biggest questions weighing Democratic voters does a moderate or progressive. Stand the best chance of defeating. President trump the divide is front and center on healthcare. I've added to the Obamacare plan the Biden initiative which is a public option. Medicare if you want to have Medicare put your hand down for second partner. Okay waving Joe No. It was the smallest debate lineup of the year. Just seven candidates offering a far different view of a field field was once the most diverse in history. It's both an honor and disappointment to be the lone candidate of color on the stage night. I Miss I Miss Corey though. I think he'll be back now. Speaking of Cory Booker he is campaigning in Iowa. He picked up an endorsement of a local county chairman. He said he's going to go all the way until. Those Zayas caucuses Brianna now. They're just forty five days from starting this campaign who it's finally getting close. Jeff Zeleny thank you so much from sunny. La All right. Let's this. Let's talk about Joe Biden okay. He was largely gaffe-free. He pushed back on candidates who came after his record. Do you think the debate practice here. Melanie has paid off warm. ABC finally look by. No question had the strongest debate performance. We've seen I think he largely benefited. Though from the fact that you had Warren and Amy Klobuchar overcharge going after peop booted judge so he was really able to sort of sit back and avoid a lot of the incoming fire and he. He repeated a theme right. He repeated a the theme that he's hammered home. We saw him this last night. The last few months or proof that he can work across the aisle to get things done. Let's watch anybody has reason to NOT WANNA work with Republicans starting with trump and working the way down to some of the members of the House and the Senate it's made this is about about the president has to not only be able to Fight back a president has to be able to unite so on one hand just looking at the dynamics chairman of this. He's talking about being a uniter but he also has to be trump and that's incredibly important to Democratic voters. Does it make sense that he can do both. Do you think I think he can listen. I when I was chairman of the Intelligence Committee I work with Joe Biden. Quite a bit on pretty significant issue Syria other. Thanks policy. Some we agreed on some didn't but he's easy to work with in that environment and so I do think that's a strength and I think that's probably why he's doing as well even after this much time. He's kind of defied the odds a candidate that's out front doesn't normally last out front this long and so I think that's a strength going into it and he is very different from the other direction of the of the Democrat Party. I think Peggy Noonan said it best. You can't be trump with crazy and I think think that was her way of saying. Hey you know you're going to have to Democrats if you you have to pick somebody who does know how to work Who has the experience? And who is more centrist I in his ability to govern the country even though Biden and said I'm willing to work with Republicans even though they're coming after me the question is will republicans be willing to work with him you know. He is the source of this impeachment. Fight Right now. You have a lot of Republican people in the House and in the Senate who are going after him and his son and you can see that if he becomes President Republicans will probably be calling calling to investigate him and his son overall this Ukraine matter. I think they might but at the same time he would be the president so that would be in their political interest to work with him. I mean let's remember that Mitch Mitch McConnell's got a few tough races that he's looking out for as well so we don't yet know how the Senate is going to play out the thing. That Biden has done. Well as you said. Defeat defy the odds but also so he has stood up he and his son have Bo stood up to the criticism. His campaign has actually done a very good job. Keeping him a top of the pulse and that's part of the tests and a primary primary as well by the way whoever becomes the nominee. I'm here to tell you get ready because it is going to be a daily barrage like nothing you've ever seen so the candidate has to be tough and I think think he's actually shown Dir ability but the campaign has to be able to withstand it as well so men. He did benefit as Melanie said from Senators Warren enclosure which are going after footage last tonight. They're trying to make him not a guy of the people but someone who's taking these Big Dollar donations doesn't have enough experience. Do you see forty five days out from Iowa. Do you see that being something that sticks is that something that resonates and we'll be bad for him. It'll be interesting to see what how much that ends up sticking and remember that the people to judge we'll have one advantage over the two senators who attacked him last night. He gets the chance he gets a lot of time. And a lot of chance to campaign in Iowa while Senators Warren in Senators Kluber Jar. We'll be stuck in Washington for that Senate impeachment trial so he can directly make that case to the voters that he is electable that he has a policy vision that that is reflective of of the Democratic Party. I just find I found coach. I really interesting last night too as well because she consistently does have great debate performances format. But she's still kind of stuck in that middle slash lower tier. I think she's constantly looking for. That breakout moment in Iowa key again. She's going to be stuck in Washington for that Senate impeachment spent trial well. Here's something you don't see everyday. President trump attacking popular evangelical publication. And the reason that it's it's calling for trump to be removed from office next next. Hi Everyone I'm poppy harlow. We're out with a new boss files episode. She ran for president was the first woman to run a fortune. Fifty Company and cancer survivor. Who says she is not afraid of anything anymore Carly Fiorina? She's out with a new book. Find your way unleash unleash your power. and highest potential she was. CEO of Hewlett Packard during the dotcom boom and bust before being fired in what she calls a board room brawl. Aw She's face. Discrimination survived breast cancer and lived through the unimaginable loss of a child. She calls herself a problem solver and says that's why she ran for president after running against then candidate trump in two thousand sixteen to Sheikh. Think he should be impeached now. I ask her here at all. I'm boss files subscribed today. NEWHAM NEWHAM like everybody in Palm Beach. No no one knows how he made the money happening buttoning my short and pulling my body already naked body faster than I could a for over sixty years. I've reported on Jeffrey Epstein. The man the multi-millionaire the monster. Now go behind the story with me. Vicki booed I of CNN's new. podcast the Jeffrey Epstein I knew subscribe. Now where have you get. You'll put costs. The president in a new fight with an Evangelical magazine founded by the Reverend Billy Graham the editor of Christianity today publicly saying that president trump should be removed from office. Question is when does his behavior which is described as immoral accurately rise to the level where. He's no longer fit to serve office and to me. We Cross that line with the impeachment hearings. The president firing firing back at the publication on twitter calling it a far left magazine or very progressive. Well we should point out. It's not it's not those things this is actually a centrist Evangelical John jellicoe publication. Is this going to win over any evangelical Sung Men It depends I mean. Clearly it is a very influential official publication within the Evangelical World but the president throughout his presidency and even during the campaign has had a very tight grip on the Jellicoe vote you had exit. Polls showing eighty percents outside of white evangelicals back trump and and the two thousand sixteen elections. You have a recent poll. Saying he has the support about seventy approval of seventy five percent of evangelical approve approve of them. Whereas it's hovering in the low forties overall Evangelical voters have largely look to if not the behavior of the policies of this administration. And what we saw from the campaign statement that was released by the trump campaign. On this editorial they've emphasized the president support for Israel his support for judges who who uphold religious liberty his abortion policies. And I think for now those policies are the ones that that section of voters have looked for in here. Look here's a campaign statement that we just had This is something that the president is tweeting about a ton. The son of the late Billy Graham Slam the magazine now the campaign sending out this statement. I wonder how much which this shows you about how nervous they are about this melanie especially because they're trying to get the backing of Graham family members with that steam and this was a key voting bloc for trump this is a key part of his coalition. He needs a hold onto them to be able to win reelection in two thousand twenty. But the fact that you have grams family members coming out and rallying behind him. I thinks shows how strong the support is. And if the Evangelical is didn't leave trump after the Syria decision were. They pulled out and left. Our Kurdish allies slaughtered if they didn't flee him after the Access Hollywood tapes after all these things. I don't think this editorial is very. That's exactly the point. I think part of the point as a Christian part of the point of the piece was to say enough is enough. There's enough and they've got the judges right so there's to some degree that's what he campaigned on in two thousand sixteen. They've gotten judges. And maybe the point is that constant constant immoral behavior in addition to all the other tenants of Christianity welcoming the stranger being good stewards of the earth which have all been thrown out the window. Enough is enough. You cannot lead this country offer moral leadership when you lie every day all the time and he behaved the way he does. Maybe that's the point. We're well into his presidency agency. At this point you were referring to that and the magazine address why they did this now. Here's what they wrote. We have reserved judgment on Mr Trump for years now. Some critics criticized sized us for our reserve. It's time to call a spade a spade. We're playing with a stacked deck of gross immorality and ethical incompetence. What what do you think about? What do you think about the timing well? I'm not sure about the timing. But this is a crack the first real crack that I've seen because that coalition is so important Jordan and when I was in office I had a pretty simple rule. You and people can disagree with your policy. As long as you're engaged you talk to them when you embarrass the people that vote for for you. That is a different game and I think what happened over time. It was getting harder and harder and I'm not talking about the policy issues. Even impeachment necessarily it was when you attack people using the power of the presidency to attack individuals so viciously personally over time. That is just not the Christians will accept as good behavior and I think that loss of that that he didn't grow into the office he kind of doubled down on what got him there. And I think that's what you're seeing in. That article is some confusion some disappointment. And some of these folks. And maybe maybe we need to rethink this. It's not that he you can't get over this but I do think it's a crash that they're going to have to pay attention to coming up. A republican state rep accused of domestic terrorism. The trump like defense. He's using as he refuses refuses to resign in our national lead. We're coming out swinging this week. Right out of the box. Bringing in Tiffany, stokes. We got a ton to talk about. We're going to be taken up. The first two segments of the show obviously slam packed show today we got a massive dose of power rankings got Robert lawar one of the winners from from er ex. There and you know in Minnesota this weekend and also. We got the CA- Abassi sisters from from the UAE. They're going to be calling in talking about some formula car racing, but tiffany stone you and I, we got lots of talk about obviously the ten thousand pound gorilla in the room is the Ford Bronco. We will get to that. We are going to fast forward through Er, X.. Normally we wouldn't fast forward through. The kickoff to short-course season, but I feel like the Broncos the bigger story right now, so let's talk your ex real quick. You're on site with vision wheel, man, you WanNa talk about stacked entry lists, and just about every division I mean short courses back finally how we're things. Off Road. WAS THERE I? I guess their first event ever in the off road space I think. Maybe Utd race last year something, but really kind of this is their first big step into the road I was everything I. Mean obviously racing goodwill. You know fans in attendance. How was that obviously with the? Cova going on and everything give us Give us the breakdown. No everything was great. You know hats off to champ road for doing a great job and obviously kudos to the announce team for being able to go through with everything. Over and all it was pretty good I heard. Everybody was excited from a driver's standpoint sand and you know enthusiast, standpoint, overall and a big big. Thank you to the Carlson's at Carlson. Motor Sport for just making sure that everything was tip top shape. You know they made sure there were social distancing spots out on the lawn. There are different areas I mean even the cooper tire girls that. That were there. They had their own circle, so they can be able to talk to people right then and there, but it was. It was a great event. It felt really good to be back outside to be I mean it was humid and I kinda missed it, but didn't really miss it, but it was just nice to be back on track with people with fans. All you know doing. Doing social distancing and stuff like that, but just out there and just it was nice. Can can can you tell him excited I was rambling a little bit about it, but just excited about everything. Yeah, I know you're excited. I'm excited I tuned into livestream into. They had some struggles with Friday. They got it all fixed up for Saturday. the big story coming out of the weekend obviously A. A pro for tiff, you haven't calling short-course for last three or four years. You know what I mean. This was the biggest outside of Crandon Labor Day last year, the biggest pro four race I can remember in a least a handful of years. It doesn't matter if we're talking midwest west coast I mean pro four. We finally got a division with enough trucks where we don't know the winter. No you're absolutely right. And Kyle came back and that kind of through some things in there and you know it's just different. Safe a familiar face, but a different face from the last few years except you know out of day, crandon where there's a handful of drivers that come from the west coast as well, but it was cool. It was a different race. You never knew kind of going on. And usually it's the CJ johnny kind of show, and they're great drivers as well, but usually we figure out who was going to win, or who was gonNA podium, or at least in the top three, but we end. It was Kinda. Cool, you saw something. Come a little bit different. Do just drove like his life depended on. It seemed there was no catching him. Moving from second to fifth, there was a lot of action going on back and forth and everything like that, so it was cool, because you even saw the growth of some drivers, and not that he needs a lot more growth, but even Andrew Carlson. You know there's a moment he was in second then kind of went back, but then pushed his way to finishing second older. Cj Greaves, which is a feat in itself. You know and so a big. Big congrats to enter Carlson as well. Yeah, you know what I think. Honestly, we got a lot. We we could probably do an entire show talking er, ex, and and what we saw, but you know that's a good point with Andrew. Carlson, you know he transitioned from snow. Cross into short-course obviously worked up his way up to the divisions. We've seen him in pro four before, but I feel like I know. He was always one of those guys. He might be able to sneak in and win a podium. And that was kind of up until this year, that was what the thought was around and recalls, and that's no fault of his own. He just hadn't put enough time, but after what I saw erects I go look this kids to play. Think he can factor into that. Win Equation. You know here here this year and that's got me excited because you know you longest time it was you know, Kyle! The Greaves, obviously, RJ Anderson we've heard rumors. He might pull. Out For krant in this year, but you know there was those names, but Andrew was Kinda in the podium mix, but not in the winning mix and I feel like he. He took that step forward now to put his name into the equation where hey. I'm here to compete for wins, and that has me excite another top-shelf team and pro four. Now exactly, and he's even crossing over I mean he's stepping out of his comfort zone as well in going into a youth in the pro MoD and him and his crew. You know they've built in an amazing amazing car and with the car they put down the fastest lap time at your ex in the Promo on Saturday, so it's kind of cool to see something like that, too. especially in crossing over like you said starting even in the snow, going to pro four and now pro MoD, so it's cool to see all that together. He's like a renaissance man. It'll race anything like it. So, yeah, you know at that. Being said I mean obviously that happened this weekend. I'm probably GonNa talk more on that with the Cristiani empowering kings, but you gotTA. Talk about this big ten thousand pound gorilla in the room. Maybe we'll get back to talking to your ex. Maybe we won't, but Ford finally teased on. We've been talking about this. I. Don't know this kind of pipe dream of this. Bronco and it was one of those all right. We'll believe it when we see it well. Ford finally announced the Bronco show the Bronco and I will say I actually put down my deposit and I have a bronco or but. T stone. I mean this thing delivered on all fronts I. Mean this is what people wanted this. This was worth I. Don't want to say worth waiting decades for because it should have been a whole lot sooner than that, but t stone I mean the same for Bronco people for offering. Finally delivered. This is what we've been wanting. No and I did at first I thought you were going to talk about the three ninety two. How many that they were GonNa drop in the rain by concept, but I see that you're. Actually talking about the Ford Bronco. No, I'm just kidding. It was awesome I was super excited to see it. Even seeing the four door I kind of was really really excited. One of the models because I was obviously looking about it, and talking about on the show is I know they're only making a certain amount, but I really Kinda like the first edition of course is the top line starting off at fifty thousand I. Think they're making thirty five hundred of them, but of course I want the first edition. Edition one SIP exciting to me. Oh isn't that coming from a wrangler owner? I was GONNA say that's and it's funny because I can stay neutral and this obviously I'm a Ford Guy Forget forever, but I appreciate jeep and I I, actually appreciate. Jeep thrown a little shade. Ford by teasing the you know the big V eight in the in the wrangler. I could appreciate that it's like we're not just going to let Ford have all the spotlight. We're GONNA. Throw shade that way. It's all in fun. I can appreciate that. But yeah I I'm excited and the first edition that was. Kinda cool they did that. Obviously, only thirty five hundred people are gonNA. Get their hands on it. They're only doing it for the first year. They'll honestly I guarantee you that year to makes it into the lineup. They call it first edition, but they'll have like a platinum version or something, but. Yeah I went with badlands on my order. With the badlands, just because it's got all the off road, tech and everything and you know I to me honestly, I'm getting a Bronco two wheel. I'm not going to be a trailer queen like most people are not even a trailer queen, but just a grocery getter like I'm getting Bronco that Damn. Thing's going to hit the dirt. It's going to get scraped up. It's GonNa. Go I wanNA badlands at one. The offroad tech I'm actually ordering it with the stick shift to because they've got that crawler. Gary in there. I'm going full on wheel load in this thing. I didn't want the automatic. I WANNA stick. No, that's awesome. See I already have that so that's why I was like. Oh, I kind of like the first edition is a little bit of both you know it's kind of like luxury. Ask type of vehicle compared because I still have cloth seats in the rain, which is perfectly fine for me, so if it gets wet or anything even with Joe Joe when she comes on road trips with me, I don't really have to worry about her scratching up the leather. I took her on the first road trip when she was four months old. You know so. She was still super little kitten, but that's why I was like a go with that, but I did see the badlands to begin with as well and I was really impressed with a lot of things. Some people are gonNA. Talk about it. You know especially because it has independent. Independent Front suspension with the solid axle rear. So some people are going to say Oh, it's not a true off Rhodesia's call, and all these other things and you know only time will tell I'm assuming Kanye Hammers. This year's probably going to pull out some stuff. I'm assuming Brad level 'cause. He is the Bronco Guy. I mean even saw post this morning. How He? He was talking about I think he was a seventy one that his dad, and now the two thousand twenty one, so it's Kinda. Cool to see it. Come full circle, and it's still the same type of yellow. I think it's I don't know if it's specifically the same yellow, but it really looks cool and I think for enthusiasts like Brad and his dad and other. Other people and families like that. It's going to be really a full circle. Feel good moment for everybody involved and as much as I wanted to say not a great thing, but I think four did an awesome job on the whole Bronco System so well. We we're going talk more about the Bronco. We'll get into that little teaser a little bit. We're we'RE GONNA. We're GONNA fall off onto this this in the next segment, so we got a lot more to talk about. We're GONNA take commercial break. We'll be back after this right here. Welcome back to the general tire down dirty radio powered by Polaris Razor all right rolling into things. We were just getting kind of role and talking about the Bronco, obviously some of the packaging on it I not stoned mention, bringing back some of the throwback colors, and honestly one thing I can appreciate about the Bronco. We're going to bridge the gap into talking jeep and kind of that teaser because your jeep girl. We're GONNA, talk about teaser throughout their because I think it's Kinda. Rad and we're going to kind of off road wars, which I think is even better, but the packaging like they've got the base model all the way up into. The Luxury Mal crawler type of thing, but you know they've got some offroad packaging I kind of. Weird a lot in a lottery guard, some of the G. packaging with this with his Bronco tiff. The badlands obviously is for the enthusiasts. It's kind of like a Jeep Rubicon, but they've got. They've got what is the outer banks is equivalent like Sahara. That's more of A. Luxury type feel they've got the wild. What is it the wild tracks? I think that is like full-on like I. Don't know, but it seems like the packaging on this. I looked at it and I'm like they threw little homage to jeep. I feel like the packing very similar with the way they're approaching this thing. No I think so as well and I don't know if you saw and I'm not sure if it's specifically a real meam or different mean, and it's Kinda, the dig too deep owners, but they they said Bronco just like a jeep, but for men and I don't really think it's just like a mean that's out there like obviously I don't think Ford is using that as a tagline, or if they are that kind of money I. Don't know, but I think you know that's kind of where people are going to see. because there's more females you know I myself in the market as well, and it's awesome to see women. We'll do all about you know one of the great ones. Ones out there you know Holly Fowler who she drives mischief maker, and she such a great inspiration, and even people like their price out there doing different things you know I thought. She was doing the stunt actually four the Bronco commercials and different things like that, so she got her hands on well before anybody else, and it's kind of cool to see where it's going to be good I think that it's going to be a market for everybody and the off road suv has to grow where there is no, you know male female. It's Kinda bridge the gap and everybody and anybody who wants to go out and love. The outdoors are game your hands on these types of vehicles. No I agree with you. You know and I think. You know something like this like you said there's so many female saying the offroad jeep community NFL like in the last couple of years I mean people such as yourself a really help bridge that gap, and and you know I think UTV's have been a big part of it to getting women out wheeling, and and things like that and I actually. The raptors been a big Gosh I know as many female raptor owners as I do mail. And it's funny that there's memes going around like that. You know because I. You know obviously I. Don't think there's a lot of basis in it I just I think it's Rad that that women have really embraced offer a community, and and come in and you know and like. You said you mentioned some people like Sarah Price Kristen. Matlock is a good friend of ours I mean they've come in and and a lottery guards? They're actually better than the mid sometimes in competition you know. It's been been counteract Jessica we gotTA. Mitch and her. She's been phenomenal. Ambassador you know what I mean for for offroad for women to you know. Unfortunately, we lost her last year, but Yeah! I, don't know if I think you know those means actually I, take him as a positive because I I I feel like it's people actually acknowledging that women are a big part of our culture now. No and I agree and like. I even talked to Like just call her. Bailey sins Brandon Simms girlfriend, and she was like I'm so excited. I want one you know, and it's so cool to see that women are excited about these types of vehicles and they want to grab them. You know granted. She's always out in the utd with Brandon and everything, but it's cool to see that. Women are just as excited as men for something like this to come out. No I completely agree wasn't there. There was a mean you shared I actually shared it to my facebook group. That I thought was funny as Hell. It was an F. J. K., blue F J cruiser and a blue jeep wrangler jeep wrangler, and they gave birth to the Blue Bronco. Something happens and then like nine months later this happens. I can't remember, but let's funny as hell, It's a blue with so back in the day. When Toyota, had the FDA cruiser unlimited issue, ones were the ones with the white top, so it's a blue and white top FDA crews are on the left, says we can't tell anyone about last night. And then on the right in a blue with the white talk, which is chief I? That's where mischief maker comes for holly and it says I know it would hunt us forever, and then down below is a picture of the Ford Bronco with the white top that says dot dot dot nine months later, so it's just kind of saying. People Are Thinking that they Ajay cruiser and the wrangler combine them what the Bronco is. Good stuff and I know what we have talked about. We're talking about obviously all these. Branca's the one thing that I actually think schools. They've got the two in the four door kind of off road. Capable Broncos they actually launch. They call it. The broncos sport, which comes first it comes out before the two and four door Bronco, but it's actually kind of like a Range Rover and Obviously Land Rover Scott. You know they've got some crazy offroad tech and it's like four, not only waiting to accompany into competition with jeep. We're GonNa Competition Land Rover which is funny, because Ford actually owned land, Rover one point in time, but I I find it funny. It's like four now. We're going to go after all the offroad market, not only jeep, but we're going after ranger anybody that can compete with us. We're throwing something down thrown down a gauntlet. I'm looking at it and going man this thing. It's a legit range over competitor in that sport to. Know exactly and the crazy thing is I'm looking at it right now? So obviously available late twenty twenty s to twenty one model. They're only making two thousand of these. And you can get that cool cyber orange at no additional. Oh, sorry lied. Extra cost was option like no additional. That's awesome. No, that's that's crazy. Though just to think about what they're like. I don't know if you'll see car manufacturer have a little fun and have a little play with each other like we were talking about earlier. How you know wrangler. I'm sorry. G. dropped a little teaser of the three ninety-two concept, and you know I've actually driven a modified six poor, and that was to light right studios Kevin. Brittany Williams. And it's Kinda cool, but now with jeep there are four different engine options that are available. You have a two liter turbo then you're going to have a three liter. Then, you have a three point. Six Liter v six, which I have, and now you're gonNA, have a three, ninety, two, six, six four. That's pushing for eighty five, and so it's like. What do you want your jeep to be because to me now thinking about it, why do I really need a six four in my jeep? If I'm not really? Rock crawl, I guess it'd be cool on the road as a good on off road, just pull up to stop light and they don't think there's Hammy inside, but I don't know if it's so crazy to see all the different options that are available for different displacements and stuff I I think it's pretty cool, but it's all depending on what you want to do with your jeep. When I think that's that's what's actually read like like. You said it's somebody wants to like off roading and maybe only throws it in full driving snow, and and they actually do use it to you know. Take the kids to sporting events or or or whatever and they don't want They don't want a minivan or sedan. They actually want something bad or something. Is Somebody like such as yourself? Full on offer it I'M GONNA. Take this thing on the GNARLIEST trails in north. America, you know it's like GPS got something, and even you know looking at price point on a jeep looking at the price point on a on a Bronco you know these things started like twenty nine grand, which is very affordable again and off road, and then you know these things can run up your sixty seventy grand depending on how you outfit them and things like that, but I think. I love the jeep and Ford both have that. Nice entry level price points not like a raptor. Where if you don't have fifty five sixty thousand dollars, you can't touch it. Anybody can get into a Bronco I. Don't want to say anybody but anybody that's you know hasn't completely destroyed. Credit score or something like that can get Bronco you. Twenty nine grand most most banks finance and things like that so I, really appreciate the jeep and Ford of kind of acknowledged that kept units that are accessible. Everybody financially you know. Know exactly and that's the that's the thing. It's kind of like at the end of the day. How much you want to spend in what you want to get out of G. OR BRONCO. Now you know, and it seems like that the Bronco is one of the only vehicles within the last. Ten years you want to say and you know there's people that want to fight me, but ten years have actually given the wrangler their run for their money. You know because there's no other vehicle out there. That was really a able to do that and I guess you can't say the FDA cruiser, but they stopped selling that well over five plus years ago, so it's kind of us out of. Of It and what you know what you want, and to me I would love to try to test drive that new Bronco just to see it, and and maybe take a little off road. Obviously, that's rock as bad as I have been. You know, but just really push it to the limit and see what you can do, and do you know how much it weighs compared to a wrangler? Much into honestly I. Think they're probably pretty damn close to. If you know the two four models, I gotta think they gotta be pretty close. Yeah and that's the thing and then how I I WANNA put money down on it right now, I don't know if it will be this year, but definitely next year. How much you WanNa bet it will just be a sea of broncos at Sima. God's funny. I was actually already on some email chains I guarantee you this year. This year will be a lot. It's not really in the wild yet so four to play some with you know some Marquis builders, and and obviously they'll have their booth, but. Fast forward this year and yeah, twenty and I think this is going to be a smaller Sima Twenty, twenty, one the broncos. All overseen especially with them coming out in the spring. Like yeah you. Know it's coming. The Bronco Apocalypse is coming. Come Sima Twenty. Anyone guaranteed that for sure. And then, and then Seema Twenty twenty two will be. Over landing that's. What it is just be wrangler. For five years ago. And, what's funny is I know we only got about a minute left so I gotTA. Keep it tight here, but. You know I. Think Jeep. Really. They're sitting back and obviously you know we we we. We talked about jeep. Kinda throwing that that announcement teaser out there jeep. Really I guarantee you as welcoming the Bronco they want competition. It's just been them forever like this. Just jeep owners and jeep as a company. This makes them elevate their game, and you know what I mean, and it's it allows them some competition like I think this is healthy I mean. Mean, this is going to be good for everybody and I think you know jeep probably deep down is applauding this by Ford. Going all right, we got we got some competition. Let's have some fun here now and I agree, and so it's at the end of the day. The question is are you team Bronco, or are you team wrangler back with more after this on the general tire down and dirty radio show a powered by Polaris Razor. Polaris? Riders Jim Beaver. Welcome back to the general tire down and dirty radio show powered by Polaris Razor. Elect my good friend, I guess fellow factory Polaris racing driver Robert Lavar to the show coming off a big big week in their your ex motor park. I guess that would be considered your hometown race right, Robert. Yes about forty five minutes away so I guess you could say right down the road. Yeah, well. We'll talk about your winning a minute, but I KINDA WANNA go back because I I was fortunate up until this year and I know I'll be cran and doing some announcing for him, but up until this year. I've kind of followed along your journey in the Midwest. short-course series and I feel like two years ago. I remember you kinda showed up with an R. S. One. You're one of the first guys to really show up with an S. one everybody kind of thought or like man. That's different. You know what I mean, and and then obviously you had some teething issues last year. I feel like you of Hit your stride a little bit and this year man coming out swinging like you you like you're just made a statement. Hey, I'm the guy to beat like we've seen this entire like arc with your. With at least with the irs one man. Yeah for sure Yeh, you said first year we had some Some issues trying to find the right sat up and we kinda just through a bunch of stuff based on what everybody said. And then last year we started halfway through the season I think we started really get some momentum, and then over the winter I'm just like you know what we gotta just take what we learned the last two years and start start fresh and don't go completely back to the drawing board, but take what we learned. The past two years and make a new vehicle and platform, and that you can see it it. It showed this first round here. Yeah well and I know. Manu was. This was such a big race for so many reasons, obviously the kickoff to kind of not only the midwest short-course season, but short courses a hole in the US. I think the is Ronnie. Rx Obviously Champ off road. It was their first official race is. Kind of the new sanctioning body there. By large look, great fan attendance I mean great racer tenants. I mean this was I feel like this race was was stepped up a few from last year. Especially in the notoriety, just going on in the world I mean we'll go to the vibe there at the ground floor, ex. Yeah, for sure I think everybody was had. High expectations for R. and especially Champ Offroad being the new sanctioning body this year with The Midwest Short Course and champ really stepped it up. just with with everything. The marketing livestream the videos I mean it was just unbelievable all the the events and stuff that they had coming up to the race, and also the the whole event that they put on there at earwax. Yeah well. I WANNA. Talk a little bit about your car. 'cause you showed up and and. Sometimes we talk tires on the show other times. We don't this one. We're safe. Though because gentle tires got a family of brands that includes continental tire. WHO'S YOU'RE TIRED? It's all the same family all the same company, so we're allowed to talk about what you showed up to your ex with and I gotta tell you I'm watching the livestream and all of a sudden you pull up onto the stream and it was like shocking like. Like your Carla completely different than everybody else, and I go to your instagram and immediately see these pictures, this radical new hoosier illiteracy desert tire. You're telling me. It's a desert kind of stopped short course, but you saying that people there look like you're ready to go ultra four racing, but dude you gotTA. Tell me about this new tire in kind of a look in the stance of the car because you're a RS me, man. Yeah I think quite a few people kind of chuckled when we showed off, you're like what the heck is he doing like? The tires just way too big and We had our our Dallas and we were skeptical going in but just with the limited time with everything going on in the world and the new rules adopted around tires WHO's your had to pull out of their bag there at the last minute and it ended up just working awesome like we were all kind of in shock. We knew we did our homework dollar testing, but after the first qualifying event on Friday and We took fast time and to other drivers. They were running. The tires also took second third. It was kind of like. Wow, this. This is real, they we we actually are going to be. With us, so it was really cool, and just all the changes that we've made the car. lowering the C. G. and that was that was like number. One priority is lower the CG as much as we can. And I mean everything just seemed to work well together, We did do a lot of testing upfront, but we didn't have to go back to the drawing board. We just had it make little tweaks here and there and just the whole package just seemed to work awesome together. Well and honestly there's a lot of unknowns coming into the opening round. Obviously, we. We know you're going to be strong. Obviously, you know there's the guys Beichman. They're always strong. Obviously, you can't. You got to mention the Greaves, and and obviously there's a bunch of other racers that we all know are going to be fast and Kinda in the mix, but you know. Coming into new season, you really don't know anybody else bringing to the table. You kind of got an idea who might be quick, but you really don't know I mean it was a little bit of nerves in regards that obviously leaving Rx. Target on your back with the two one officially you know after his also done man i. mean you guys got to be stoked on on the way? Things shook out. Yeah, I'll be honest. We came into the season pretty nervous I mean I I was confident. I know I'm doing good I. I left the season last year. really good, really confident. We got the car work and good, but I mean this is even though. It's still an our. Lon-! It's We still didn't do anything radical, but we did quite a few changes that it. It's kind of a new car. And then we got. We throw the new tires into the mix and thirty inch tires that that and there's a lot of upcoming is coming in. And it was, it was a huge unknown I mean at one and I was like I. We got this and then at the other end. My buddies and Work people were like. Yeah, go out there and win and good. Luck like you're gonNA. Take the wind I'm like Oh, I hope so like I'll be happy. Be at the top five and like my main goes beyond the podium and I mean I never expected to be up front like I think. At the end of the day after day one. We got the confidence and. With a talked with the team, and it was like we really have a shot at winning this because our stuff was not perfect day one and I'm like we. We actually have a shot at this if we can make the tweaks and make this car. Perfect. Ethics, we actually have a shot, so I went into the bane. Leaving especially starting on pole that we got this it definitely was not easy as As you could see on the on the livestream or the recap video Jeremy who is coming strong. That's for sure. Yeah definitely, and that's kind the thing I mean. There's definitely no easy wins in any of the UT divisions in the Midwest I. Mean You want to talk about? Stack fields and Every single one top to bottom. It's kind of a stack field, but I want to shift gears and talk a little bit about you. Because of what a lot of people don't realize, obviously runner razor in off road, but your day job is actually working for Polaris I've you know I've had some guests friends in the past? Have worked for players and also race on the weekends and. How's it work for you? Because obviously you know your groundfloor, you're and enthusiasts first and foremost you know for Polaris, and it allows you to kind of parlay what you learn on the weekends into the product in and you know the company I guess on Monday right. Yeah for sure it's definitely fun to Work all day and pretty much. Transitioned my work to two hobby out in the garage afterwards and then go back into it the next day. I mean there's constant learnings for each end of it, and then also I got into trail riding quite a bit last year, so my wife get a vehicle out from work and then go do some trail writing to to to also just get in that mix too I. Mean it's. It's cool. It kinda helps out everything it helps me understand that the customer aspect of it, and it also helps me be a better racer. I believe too because it's just it's more seat time than driving different vehicles and just being behind the wheel, I mean. I I hadn't driven a turbo vehicle I don't think. At the end of last year we took out a new process. P and I was just like holy crap. These things are just like stupid fast and I took my buddy in a ride in the passenger seat and he's like this thing is insane like it's on like this thing is bone stock just base model Walker Evans shocks and we were ripping through the trails and he was like this thing is unreal. This thing handled better than my full blown short-course car. And I'm like Yeah I. Do it's it's crazy. How how good everything is getting like? How much the vehicles and the just everything is progressing! Well and I think it's funny. You say that, too. Because I was the same way like we've got our desert cars and I mean we've got six figures wrapped up in desert builds, and all of a sudden turbulence came out, and all of a sudden. You know here's this car from the factory with long travel and everything else, and we're like Oh, yeah, whatever we go and drive it and I was like. Why why do I have this desert car? Then we've got six figures. Why is that parked in the garage? Because this thing right here is just as fast as my race car. You know what I think I think. That's one of the cool things. Though is is us as racers. We appreciate you know what players has done and continue to engineer. Elevate the game and. And Really Development we've done on the racing side goes directly back into the machines that that hit the dealership floors across the country. Yeah for sure it's like you said that. The turbo out I mean I think insane, and then now the pro xt, and then yet you know it's just GonNa. Keep getting better and better and better. Yeah, we'll talk about better and better and better. We gotta go back. We gotta talk about the Midwest. Because obviously e R. Exits in the. It's in the books now. We got a new Race Lena? Driven that track I. Think you know it's GonNa be kind of an equaliser this year. It'll be new for a lot of people. And then we're going to barker, which is notoriously really tough on belt driven cars, just because of the long long stretches there it's not like cranberries, short and things up, and then obviously we, we cap it off with a couple of CRANSTON's man. I mean you. You're in the CATBIRD seat now. You got the target on your back. How are we approaching these next four rounds? Yeah, it's GonNa. It's GonNa. Be Different normally I go into the the time qualifier behind. The CJ or somebody else? That's really fast, so I I kinda like latch onto. Okay. I'M GONNA. Try to last time to CJ and push myself to catch him like sometimes it's it's try to keep up with them, but my main goal. Iraq's was to catch him. And that's why we were able to pull off fast time, but it's GONNA be different. This round because I'm going to be going out I and time qualifying so. My wife has like you're going to have to learn how to go fast by yourself now. You don't have somebody just latch onto so. It definitely going to be different. We're GONNA have to figure out our lines. Before we go out there and it's GonNa be a different plan for share. You GotTa love the spouses right because they're the ones that'll be one hundred percent brutally honest with you, right? Yeah! So Yeah I. Mean obviously you got the short course program going on I. Know You, said You doing some trail riding i. mean get your eyes on anything out here on the West Coast obviously. You. Know obviously there skiing in the Hammers Desert Program. We got a lot of works racing going on. Obviously, there's you know. The Lucas oil theories I. mean you know obviously you know you've got your roots there in the Mid West, but has there been any. Kind of an itch that you're seeing happen out of here out. West that you might want to try that at some point. Honestly I've been joking around with my wife, but maybe not actually joking is I really really would love to do king hammers next year. the problem is is It took long enough for me to build my short first car, and it looks like King. A Hammer is like ten times. It's hard on your car so if that's real, have to start building a machine here shortly to be ready in time for cameras, but Ultimately that that's one of my goals right now like that race is just like two years ago, I started watching it and I'm like Oh. Yeah, that's cool and now every year, and then like last year it's it's gotten so big, and that's kind of like the the proving grounds. It seems like Kinda like the best of the best. Go there, and that's kind of like. They prove that their car their machine. They're driving style their team kit and do everything so to me. It's kind of like the benchmark and I would love to go do that, so we'll see what happens here. throughout the season and Hopefully we can make it happen. Here we go, we'll put you on the spot I mean. Why don't you do some different you? You got an RS one year on and short course you feel like you up to the task on single seater at King of the Hammers. Loud be sweet. I mean we got the tire ready to. We can just show up probably true story there. You've got the tires. Man Well we are up against the tiebreak. Robert but I appreciate you taking the time to call into the show buddy. congrats on the big week in there. and. Welcome back to the general tire down thirty radio show powered by Polaris Razor. Jim beaver here in my media, director Mr Chris Leoni Chris I guess for the first time in long time we we've. Kinda brought back the power rankings here the past couple of weeks, but I. It's been a little slim pickings at times this. Is the first week since the whole pandemic started, and I know obviously with Shell power rankings for good, you know quarter of the year but I actually had to make cuts, and that gets me excited I mean we're back to racing buddy? I made more cuts than we have time to put on the list because I just went through his many people's. I could find Jim that you know. That had good weekends for whatever reason. We had NASCAR INDYCAR. We had one. We had Nhra we had championship off. Road ended up with fourteen drivers on my list. Just kind even throw around and. Man It is. It is something when you have that much to work with its. We could very easily do a top ten this week and still be missing some quality names. Yeah, and. Gosh I I I don't know I've got. This is going to be an interesting one for me. I. It was so ridiculously hard. I'M GONNA throw out there. He didn't make my list. We got a couple of things. We're GONNA. Throw out there before we get started. He didn't make my list, but I did want to chime in on a guy that probably any other week would have made my list, but I gotta give credit to my boys. Sheldon creed. He comes from offroad. He's got the dirt roots. He's been called. You know obviously the prodigy. Robby, Gordon, he's been called the next Robby Gordon. Gordon, the next Jimmy Johnson coming from offroad, took a big win in the truck series, and obviously with so much racing in so many different I. We got first time winners. We've got a bunch of stuff to talk about today. Sheldon, just he was number six. Spot Chris but I felt like I had to bring him up. He's an offroad kid. He won a major. NASCAR race thought it was worth mentioning. Yeah. See. That's the thing I didn't have him in my top five, either in part because I was penalised kind of the rain-shortened stuff, but sheldon is really come on lately in that GM esque truck i. mean he had a great shot at winning Pocono you know and he may. He made some pretty aggressive moves, but the thing that really stood out to me with that. Pocono race that he almost one was the. The sheldon creative a year ago in the truck series I think would a loss that truck on that last lap, because that was a wild lap, but he saved it and you know even though he didn't get the win at Pocono that I think he would have deserved. You Know Karma kind to paid them back with the rain-shortened victory in Kentucky. So you know the I think the universe kind of even self out on Sheldon creed. He finally gets to say he's a first time NASCAR. Truck Series winner and I. Think I need to come. Yeah I definitely think got a lot of wins in his feature so Kenniston in the stockcar realm of the world do WANNA. Mention something else that. Didn't you know once la? Throw a wildcard into my thing I. Didn't do it this week. Because I think there's there's too many proper drivers that deserve to be mentioned for me to throw wildcard in. But I do want to mention Tony Stewart in the announced this new series in. Actually kind of reminds me. I was texting. Get for Joe Dunkin. A lot of listeners know. Joe Used to be the guy that runs the tear cross series and. Tony Stewart's got basically. The stock covers of tear cross I believe he's got what ray ever involved. They're building a car that can run dirt, track, Short Track and road courses and I'm hoping they're the they. They run shorter road courses, and not these two and three mile road courses, but regardless it's He's GonNa. Have let ten twelve drivers I. Everybody in the exact same SPEC car and he's bringing in names. It's going to be You know it's going to be big names I. I think probably current and past almost I could see it being like a a stadium, super trucks style revolving door of personalities, but that being said I mean I'm looking at Gaza, Greg, Robby Gordon going man how Paul Tracy guys like that thinking man. How would it be to see them? Behind the wheel of this kind of celebrity stockcar hybrid series, and and it's all in to our windows on CBS sports on Saturday evenings, man. He nailed the timeslot. What are your thoughts on this Chris? Well I, mean see. When this got announced, and it got announced the day before we were recording. I actually I got a tweet from Arnie over it Indycar, that was to to me into Liza. Markle. Who helped who lives in Melas aikoff? Put together L. Q league and I'm just the guy who's kind of lucky enough to. Handle it through? I racing and he was like. Is this just real? World Elsa q league and I said depends Ray Everett. Ham build the cars with damage off. It's all the. This is the time though that that's coming back. I mean that was one of the coolest things that we saw over. The pandemic in the spring was as people moved virtual racing. Because of the how low the barrier is to being able to get involved in whatever you want to drive, we had guys driving all sorts of things they've never touched in the real world. May Never I mean we did it? With the Short Course World Cup we put conor Daly. Alexander Rossi Ron capps. Greg biff oil. David Higgins, you know over the course of the triple crown. We put all sorts of people in proteins and pro fours. And that was a blast and you know for for what? I mean Tony is built just an incredible racing empire I think over the course of his career. Yeah, he came in on Stewart House racing, but you know bought the all. Star Circuit of champions bought Eldar speedway has financial interests in a couple of other speedways You know Tony is really put a lot of stuff together and I think. Having somebody like ray ever and to build those cars I was just talking with somebody recently about that ninety seven Jurassic Park car. They built for the Winston that was totally illegal, but Nascar told him do not ever bring that race car to the track again. Because of just how out of the box? It was and I think you. You're going to see something really really interesting here. In. I would love to see Greg Level I. Know that Greg is already tweeted. Hey, I'm available. So that would be. That would be a cool one I I don't know what I really have for a wishlist. I guess for drivers I. Mean I'd like to see it. All be people who were. Recently out of fulltime racing, whatever that means you know. I mean I worked with a couple of the Elsie Q. Guys that I think would be great for that I. WanNa see Chad reading that Chad Reed would be phenomenal. That would be such a fun time but whoever they end up getting in those things, it's GonNa be A. Who's who of motor sport and it's going to be. It's going to be really exciting. You know Kudos to them for trying to put this all together I know. We're kind of in an uncertain time in motor sport right now. You know so to see something like this. Be Able to pop up is really impressive from the business side, and hopefully the promises that it makes really play out. On the racing side as well. Yeah I agree. I'm really I'm really excited about it I. Think like you said there are some guys like chatted out. There I didn't even think about Chad. I mean guy like Ricky Carmichael. He's got some stockcar experience. You know what I mean I could see him doing it. You know even going down that Rabbit Hole James bubba Stewart. Scott, stockcar, racing, experience, Travis Pastrana's entire, Elsie, q league. You know what I mean well, obviously you know. I don't know I just rabbit holes. We could go down for days here Chris I'm just looking and I'm like man. You WanNa know the Mount Rushmore. Who I would love to see in there? That will never happen, but I would love to see it happen. Still got talent. He's become a better car owner that he was racecar driver, but let's not forget. It's one of the greatest indycar drivers of all time Michael. Andretti b-to-c Michael Andretti in this. You know like I don't know we can do this for days, Chris but. Let's. Let's move onto power rankings. Man We get. We probably got room for one before we hit hit the brake here, so let's start off with number five on our list for power rankings this week. Chris. Who Do you have? Food in this one was tough. I wrote down all of my name's and. This one actually appeared six the my list, and then I looked at number five and I'm like. Give them the edge year Austin Syndrich. It Can Taki speedway Austin, you know he's somebody who I was lucky enough to work with the couple years that he did rally cross, but he's really been making a name for himself in the NASCAR xfinity series and the. came out swept. Those Kentucky races was really the class of the field, a lot of people because of the diversity of his experience. They look at him as a road course specialist. NOPE NOPE, Nada Road core specialist in especially not anymore when you go back to back in two straight days on the same race track, and especially, when it's a mile and a half Light Kentucky which is kind of the epitome of sort of a cookie cutter track on the NASCAR schedule with those mile and a half triangles year no longer road, core, specialist, urine, Oval Guy, too. You know and I think a the complete package and I think he's got a shot at win that xfinity title. Yeah Austin Syndrich man. He is the curious case of Austin Cinder. That kid is. Man He he's got a big bright future and I think it could go a lot of different directions, never going to argue with him on your list. I'm going to move to my list number five I've got. THEM CAPCO boys big bad billy torrents. You had to have him on the list. Chris I love Billy. He's a great personality and here's a guy who if he ever actually decides to go full time in top fuel. I think nobody wants him to. Especially his son. Steve Because he's going to. He's going to hurt a lot of feelings and he's going to ruin a lot of weekends for a lot of drivers, because billy that damn good, and I got billy torrents at number five on my list Chris. We're going to cut you a break I'll let you chime in on that. After the break here on the general tire down thirty radio show powered by Polaris Razor conditions off. Tune into the down and dirty radio show available live online in syndication on networks across the US and available internationally on the American Forces Network, welcome back to the general tire down and dirty radio show powered by Polaris Razor We are just getting through our fifth guys in the fifth spot and power rankings. Chris had Austin Syndrich five I had big bad billy towards them. Capco boys at number five Chris I guess moving on. Who Do you have a number four. Siege, that's that's where it's kind of funny. Because I said the guy whose name I wrote down six I ended up picking it my number five, but it's I actually wrote down billy torrents as my original number five, and then I kind of It was tough. It was really a five eighty five and I kind of just gave the edge to Austin Syndrich based on doing it two days in a row, but number four. We are going to go up to road America for the INDYCAR. Series doubleheader and I am going to start it off with. Felix Rosenquist at number four finally get NAT INDYCAR win. You know he's somebody who has really really impressed You know in the time since he's gotten. The chip Ganassi racing took advantage of you know those those closing laps was able to relay paddle. Award was able to take that victory and. You know be able to get past him. Honorable Mention as well Alexander Rossi finally getting the monkey off his back, and getting back on the podium, but Felix Rosenquist taking that breakthrough victory I. Think now that he's got it under his belt. Now, that that weight off his shoulders I, don't see. Know, I see a lot more victories coming for him. He is the future that team. I mean in fairness. The Way Scott Dixon is been going. Scott Dixon may still be the future that team for more years and we'll get to Scott later, but Felix Rosenquist my number four and I've said it before, and I'll say it again. You talk about Scott. Dixon you he, he literally all-time Motor, Sports Mount Rushmore and yes, I said Mount Rushmore. You're talking the top four or five of all time in any discipline Scott Dixon he he is solidifying his case. Chris, one of the all time greats I mean, we're talking. Put Him up there with Parnelli Jones and Mario Andretti and. In some regards is probably better. It's crazy when you talk about Scott Dixon Nuggets Scott later on, but I am massive Dixon Fan and a ton of respect for what he's accomplished and continues to accomplish on the track, but going to number four for me. I'm going to go NASCAR. Racing here and I'm going to go with a guy who picked up his very first ever cup win. Co custer, doing it for Stewart Haas Racing Chris and I. Don't know anytime. You get your very first. Win at the Cup level. Obviously like you mentioned. Felix Rosenquist. I feel like custer. He's got some legs. You know you WanNa talk about one of the future faces of Nascar I. Mean He's. He's a current face and ask, but I think we start looking for five years down the line, and I think we've got a lot more wins. We're going to see how to custer. Yeah, I, mean to me. That one was kind of a surprise it was. I didn't end up watching the Kentucky race. It seemed to not get all that great of reviews until the last fifteen to twenty laps when everybody was. Sort of bunched up, but You know I. It was my girlfriend's birthday and. Happy. Birthday Emily had to had to put the girlfriend I. So I missed the Kentucky race, but you know I get to watch the replay. The finish in you know. It took some days to go four wide in the tri-oval to make what ended up being the winning. Pass the final lap, so? Definitely credit to Cole custer for that not on my list but Certainly impressive move and you gotta think that. If you're able to pull that off you know at this point then you've probably got some more aggressive successful moves in your future. It's funny. We both had first time winners at number four, but I am going the exact opposite route. I think for the rest of my list. Number three, going back to road America. That's revved up Scott. Dixon slotted in. Three wins in a row to start the air. It just meant. It almost doesn't seem fair. It's how long is Scott Dixon. been doing the thing at this level it's he is. Our Generation's undisputed best open wheel driver apologies to a couple of other guys in there but I. don't see how you can put anybody above Scott Dixon on that list. You know he may go down as the best driver that we've you know in racing history. That's never driven Formula One at least in open wheel. That's never run a Formula One. Grand Prix He. He's just yeah. Yeah, no! Bench racing here. I would say the only guy that could have rivalled him in this generation, and probably would have the courier stats similar to Scott Dixon and he was on track to do it before he went to Formula One and that was Sebastian. Bore Day, but obviously we know about you know him going Formula One trying that you gotta. You gotTA. Give a driver respect if he wants to give it. A try didn't quite pan out, but I think. Sebastian more was the only thing in that generation. You know that could've came close. And obviously he was a dominant force in Champ car. But you know and Dixon State Trudeau's indycar routes stayed here and and Gosh Man. His like you said is resume second to none I mean of all time. And and not only that, but I mean you're also talking about the very end of the champ car IRL's split and. People at that point, a lot of people just kind of viewed the IRL's superior product, and you know it's. It's a shame that we didn't get to see more of Sebastian Board Ahah at that You know in the indycar level when he was in his prime because I. do think that the Newman has team at that time could've taken on any INDYCAR team in that merge series before having to you know, make the split I. I still think that the. They ran that last year. A Champ car is one of the most beautiful open wheeled cars of all time and one of the most underrated. But I guess that's neither here, nor there i. I don't know how much time we got left in the segment, but I guess I should. Give it back to you for your number. Three Jim yeah. We'll have to skip through. These are next. One's pretty quick, but to move into number three. I'M GONNA go to Formula One red bull ring. Lewis Hamilton you WanNa talk about a guy that just basically owned the race weekend and you know we can talk about the actual race where he won by thirteen points seven seconds. But and obviously I know there was. there. was some other. You know and things like that in play, but I want to talk about his qualifying effort was the last time you saw somebody. Take a poll by one point two seconds I. Mean You WanNa talk about a dominating effort there. To open the Formula One season. I had to have Lewis Hamilton at number one or number three. Excuse me. I am the most enthralled by F one that I've been in a long time after those first couple of races, yeah, even that qualifying session was just nuts. Max verstappen just go all out trying to win the pole the end some of those bottles that was crazy, but that's a perfect segue, because that's I actually had Lewis Hamilton at number, two only for just that dominant qualifying performance, but you know being in sort of the global pressure cooker that he's always. Always been in as a media figure, but with everything that's gone on in the world. That's Kinda amplified his place in that with everything that he's been doing for racial justice inequality in the spotlight, being brighter imen- compound that with the penalty. He got for the contact with Alex. L. Albion in the first red bull ring race that knocked him off the podium in the opener, and still has voluntary Botas. I believe in just sort of a slim points lead. You Know Hamilton needed the respond in that second red bull bullring race and respond he did. He's my number two. Well moving number two I've got to go. Off Road racing with? Little chip Ganassi thrown in but I'm GONNA. Go with Kyle. A Duke at number two obviously back to back wins that he are xt open the short-course series in one of the pro four fields. We've seen in years. So you know two wins, he one of those wins ended up being his hundred th career victory in short course, and then to top it all off, and it was announced today that he joined. Sarah Price is a second driver for the extreme east series for chip Ganassi racing, so I gotTA. Tell you man that's that's a lot happening in a window of about three or four days for Mister Kyle Duke do that. I got him number two. I'M GONNA list. You know it's funny because I actually have. Kyle is my number. One. Jim and now I feel like I feel like I've done that thing. Where just completely blanked on somebody for my number one? Because I have done that with you more than once over the course of this, but yeah, certainly it's awesome to see kyle the Duke's efforts over the past. Few Years in pro four get rewarded with that extremely deal. It'll be awesome to see him teaming up with Sarah Price over there, but for me. Kyle going in just dominating the weekend. The are ex I mean first of all. It's so cool to see all of the big pro fours back in one place. You know running championship off road this year. But for Kyle Duke goes into Ex. He's never seen that track before. You know. He's never driven that track before. At least end you go in the fastest truck the whole weekend, you sweep both victories. You're going in on Andrew Carlson's turf. You know you're going in on Johnny and CJ Greaves Turf. You're going in on the turf of guys who've raised these tracks since they were built, and you just make a statement like that. That's pretty impressive and so I. Had Kyle Number One well and I moving into my number one. I will lead the disclaimer Chris. You didn't miss. Anybody I cheated my number one. I've got chip Ganassi racing. I picked between rose. I do you pick between Rosenquist You Know Scott Dixon you know the the whole Kyle and Sarah I mean. You. They're going to dominate extremely with that tandem. I just went. You know what I'm Gonna I'M GONNA cheat I'M GONNA. Put just chip. Ganassi racing is number one on my list, so you didn't Miss Anybody I cheated buddy fair enough I, mean you know on top of the two indycar drivers, and then you sign, Kyle, the do and. The other thing I. I gotTa say. We've got this NASCAR. All Star race coming up you know by by the time that the national show airs on. Know. We're here on Sirius XM. You know it'll be long since run, but the forty to paint scheme is one of the only good ones. I think that we've seen where they've moved the number back, so it's been a good week over at C., G. R. I think definitely a good week, and we have to take a short commercial break, and we'll have a whole lot more and a whole lot more fun right here on. I feel like sometimes things slip through the cracks and I feel like you know the good thing that's happened the past few months is is we're actually able to to not miss out on a few things. That's true. We've missed a lot during racing season especially because we would travel to Europe for racing, so was really hard for us. We would miss a lot of gatherings and birthdays, but now we had time with the family, but still eager to go back on track and back raising its been one. Yeah well and I know. You've been having some fun I gotta ask you about You had a CD video. You just posted which which looked like a ton of fun, but I gotta ask. How did you end up in the bushes? Failed me. I was watching it as I go. This is a fun video on. Stand up. Here's the Bush's. We're trying to like splash each other and then. Went into the bushes better. A So you know we got a lot to catch up on, but I WANNA to go back to the start to to both of you. Because you both I wanna talk about how you got involved in racing. Obviously your father. Everybody knows he's a very -CCOMPLISH race driver. I mean you know what was what was kind of the got you started I? Mean did you see your father and go? Hey, I want to do this i. mean what was kind of the the open door the to both you saw that you know you know what we we want to try and make a career out of this. I mean take us back to the start and kind of what got you started in racing? Basically like the four, we were really interested. We were more like brewing gymnastics, so we started training in the US. And back and forth though it was like a nice summer camp used to do a summer company you as we really took it serious, and then I reached league level. But then I saw my dad racing, and he would bring drivers to the house, and like we have like top driver guests come over and have dinner with us. Send like I was really intrigued with their conversations than the tracks. They spoke about the races. They talked about and like they were mostly laughing stuff so. I figured I wanted to give racing a try, so I asked my father, and he took me to the closest straight karting track. And from that point, he started to train me. So, so I gotta ask for you a natural, or or was it the first time you've got by the way Oh this is. This is going to be a little bit tough. Oh yeah, first time I was just like this is going to be really hard because I had no idea what what what what I was doing like behind the wheel. Yeah well, you know. The that being said obviously you get into the karting program and and things like that I mean. When did you realize like Hey I'm I'm pretty good at this. This might be a career opportunity, because a lot of people get started in Karting and and it's kind of feeling your way out and did to see how well you are I mean. What point did you go? Hey, I'm good at this. Let's do this. It took me like the first year. I was really inexperienced started pretty late, so I started at the age of thirteen. And my competitor is started at. The age of like seven, so as I started doing a few races I realized I was within the pace despite my experience. and. I was like okay I. have potential to be at the top with the top drivers. So that's when I realized that I had the potential. A Honda how about you? Obviously, you're watching your sister. Start racing. It was that one of those you've seen your dad. Now I seen your sister and it was like. Hey. I want to do this, too. Yeah, I think it was more where I saw my sister her first year. Nervous season here in the UAE issue. Is doing cartoon? She she was in an academy, and she seemed very dedicated and passionate about it, and I never knew I would ever enter winter sports because I felt like it wasn't my thing, but as soon as I jumped in the car tight I. Found the feeling like Oh. Actually Fun like I didn't expect myself to be attached to this much, and then since then like I joined the academy. My sister in started from there. Well, you know I want to talk about just kind of the motor sports world in general right now because you guys are part of this new wave of female drivers who are really breaking down boundaries, but I feel like. I feel like it's still very very tough to be a female driver in motor sport, but I feel like you know I in the United States, and globally we're. We're starting to see a big push of amazing female talent of the starting to win races and and I. Feel like a you know right now is such an ideal time for for female race car drivers because I. I feel like now, you. You know it seems like year after year there's more and more acceptance and looking at you, not as female drivers, but just as drivers in general. It's been a long way and right now. I've seen how many potentially females have potential of Tatyana Calderon Sophia floors so many like really top drivers. Like fighting top five top six, I've seen a lot of and they've inspired me. Personally ended the I. Started to achieve a lot more while seeing them doing it. It's like it was like a drive for me to do better so I think it's really great to see that also FIFA woman in motorsports doing this partnership with Ferrari drivers. Academy was another big step I've seen just recently, so it was really. Well. Let's talk about you a little bit. I mean obviously you had this. This big win in formula for there at the in the last year, but to tell us a little bit about that because I know it was very emotional, but you know winning their. You know what I mean. You know that that was kind of the culmination. of So many things I mean. Tell us a little bit about that victory. Because I know you've worked so hard to to finally take that top step on the podium. Yeah? It was really it was really emotional stuff because I remember like before that race weekend. We were low on sponsors. We didn't have It was like our last chance to prove ourselves to get more sponsorship or an extended. Contract for the sponsorship so. I really worked hard, and as ends on the same week in Formula One weekend, so being on the podium where the F one drivers get to step up on the podium, also an amazing feeling so. Yeah was a very emotional weekend for me. Well The analyst talk both you, you just mentioned sponsorship there for a while and I and I think a lot of people lose sight. You know and I know you know sponsorship, especially moving up the ranks you know looking at Formula One term I mean, and it's all about financial backing I. mean you know how how hard is it for you as a as a female driver? driver. Do you feel like it's a little bit tougher to get sponsorship or does it open up the doors to potentially some some sponsors that you know that maybe haven't looked at racing because you are female. I mean obviously money is king especially when you're looking at Formula One long term I mean. How is that sponsorship hunt been for for you guys? You're both active on social media. Media appearances and things like that. I mean how how how is that hunt? been. and. It was really yet talked to find the enough sponsorship of for the season. we've struggled in bed, but when we've when he got results started to gain like sponsorship opportunities from company so It's all about getting the results We had to achieve to find the sponsorship opportunities, and it wasn't really about whether. We're female or not. It was just that they needed to see results. Well you know in a I think that's you know kind of lends itself to some opportunities. Tell me a little bit about this formula. Eat Test because I know that was also a big thing for you. Being able to test and you know, and we're talking about one of the highest levels of racing in the world I mean how how was that for you to get behind the wheel of a formula car? I was thanks to Kaspersky who? Opportunity to drive the Formula E car. It was really into what I'm used to like. The car reacts quicker. The acceleration is much faster. the Torque. The track which is a street track is also like very nice into a e, so it's a whole new experience which I really enjoyed. Is that one of those where you get a taste of driving something like that? Then you want it more right. You're like. Oh, that's what it's like. Okay, I want to do this. So I. Want to talk a little bit I mean. We've got here June thirtieth. We've got a big a big I guess documentary coming out beyond driven. Both both of you are involved in the documentary. I mean tell us a little bit about this. Because it, it really is about female race car, drivers and pushing the boundaries and trying to get. Another another female into Formula One I mean tell us about the experience working with this film, and what people can expect from it. I. Am doing this documentary. Many proud to be a part of especially side. Top female driver is in a to It's quite exciting. It tells you our experiences, and what we in racing, and what about the legendary? Lombardi who and her journey as well in Formula One to? Get like just point for sumo to score points in formula so. That's a legendary thing, and and as other females joining into more sports in China also reach one though I think it's a really good documentary and we're proud to be in. Well you know. Let's kind of talk about the rest of twenty twenty because I know everybody had plans going into this year and I feel like Kinda plans. All went up in the air at some point and every everybody's kind of looking all right. So what? What are we doing the second half of this year and I know obviously Formula One's kind of their program I know here in the United States. You know the big series? NASCAR and Indycar both have kind of their ideas. Where does that leave leave? Both you? What? What are the plans for you? Guys for the rest of twenty twenty sending you had some plans going into the season and now I I'm kind of curious to see what the plans look like for the rest of this year. After finish the. Eastern is supposed to travel straight to Italy to prepare for the championship there for the Talian for championship that my sister has done two seasons in a row, so I was excited for my first season two in Europe. This Corona Virus Cave and everything. So now were were were a bit stuck. Because the driver's already have already already in Italy in. They're already test thing, but I'm stuck because it's really hard to to travel the moment like. With, Corona, so like we haven't got the approval yet, and I was supposed to travel actually but. The didn't get the approval until now. The side what? We're trying your best again. Though proven and soon hopefully arrived twenty four. Some testing before the season starts because it might start around. August so yeah. Okay I give you a chance to get some. a little bit of time hopefully, so how about your sister house? What's things looking like for you for the rest of this year? Maybe there is the formula three regional. We were thinking to start testing. Maybe during a few races as I'm the only driver who will be inexperienced with a car as I've seen as Hamda also mentioned. They're all testing. They've been testing for awhile and I still haven't tried the car yet. So We'll see how this year goes. Find Out. How big I mean for for some of the listeners who may not know because the cars look a little bit similar I. Mean You know I? It's a big step from formula four to formula three I mean. What what you know you kind of tell us a little bit about that obviously said you haven't tested the car yet, but you know it's just a little bit quicker. A little bit better breaks I mean. Everything's just a little bit a little bit quicker, right? Yeah, there's more downforce of it's heavier than the formula for to drive it like. Steering Wheel Wise. It's much heavier. Faster. More Tori, so yeah, it's. Way Much mortar! Is a real car. Basically so I gotta ask what obviously know the Jetskis, but have had a few. Guys have had a little bit of time on your hands I know you a has some some very fun things to do. What what he been. What's been keeping you?
