"Yeah. Start the show. Okay, We're on. It. Looks like we're live on the air. This is Mike. Put Shelly with the rest of the order. Lab crew. David Goldsmith, Jerry and Johanna Pest Story. Nicole Moxon, Robert Erskine, Jeff Alon and Ian Car. Hey, and where we brought you today by the gold shields, But we're working on the Technical difficulties today in what we do with technical difficulties. We please stand by now. We just worked through him. All right, you know. They look when you drive a car when you when you're in the car world, you know how to deal with technical difficulties. In fact, everybody here has made a business dealing with technical difficulty. Yes, In fact, the name of the game, gentlemen problems of the name of the game. You got to be bested problems. In fact, I think Robert Erskine purposely created these technical difficulties. The highlight his topic for the day. Did you do that? Robert? Mike? I certainly did a very warm welcome to you on Spammers. 25 25 mil wrench. You don't want that rattling around under the hood, Nor do you want to £25 mallet. Left under the hood, which I've experienced, but we are talking about technical stuff today from from England and Bentley Motors. What about Bentley? Motives? What is Bentley doing? Okay, well, today, Bentley Bentley Motors are on a massive recruitment drive. It's the biggest ever intake. They say off future talent at company headquarters in Jolly Old crew, England, which is the birthplace off Bentley on those of you, who also know their history will also understand that another little company that had something to do with Bentley called Rolls Royce also used to operate out of crew. But we are now in the 21st century on there's a strong emphasis on digital technology technology on data analysis. As Bentley looks towards the next century, so it's making itself available for lots of lovely young people who were that way inclined to make applications. Had to apply for apprentices as off this week, which coincides with your national recruitment month. I understand and that's really, really curious. This is C T month in this country, Career and technical education month. Where we try and encourage students to study the trades. Well, they're certainly going to be studying their trades here in England. But what we have to understand that Bentley is focusing on not only trying to get the finest talent that is out there on recruiting new trainees for its future program. But they're looking, of course, at a different drive. Train technology on that is electric power. So Bentleys are going to be coming out with electric powered platforms on all sorts of exciting things. And of course, this means that there is a bias towards digitalization. You could be slightly cheeky and say that Bentley are looking for people who are good at pushing buttons with their with their fingers on. It would be very interesting to find out from Bentley. What percentage off apprentices? Trainee ships are coming in under being offered that are actually on the mechanical engineering side. That's the hard physical side that automotive technicians otherwise known in the past as mechanics. Are really, really good at because you need people who can take components and assemblies apart on understand why there's beena failure or to service them, But You can see where we are All heading. Everything is becoming a electrical. There are digital platforms, all sorts of things going on at the word Digital, I'm afraid is going to be the most important topic. For most automotive manufacturers, Mike Well, I just hope the schools in this country You can do as well as I think the schools in your country do at getting Students into the right. Korea's Remember, we did. We did the story on primary engineer a few months back about how Ford Ford is helping schools in England to recruit Uh, students into the trades and tech. Tech areas. Well, you know, this is really, really curious. And I use that were curious because there is another word, which Bentley's press release makes a big big thing off. I That is up Skilling on. I'm not quite sure what this phrase means on. There's another phrase, which they are using, which is they want to focus on greater diversity. Now is this to do with a ethnic intake is this to do with a religious intake? I really don't know. And it really is extraordinary because They weren't digital innovations and digital innovators and creative thinkers form part off the press release. So To me. I'm not sure whether this is actually going to work very, very well. I don't want to be negative, but it does appear to me. But the mechanical side seems to be slightly sidelined on this, I think is going to be a problem for most automotive manufacturers. Let's see every resting. It's a very interesting concept that you know when I think of Bentley. I think of the upper one percentile of human beings that can afford these cars. Robert. I mean, do you think it's possible They're going to start building something that would be more affordable to the main part of the human race? No. Absolutely not. No, no. Bentley is premium brand that is their position. That is what they're engineering has Bean about on. We must also understand that the Bentley brand is about performance. It's about out and out. Grace, power and performance. So it's very interesting that the values that we're talking about today are going to be interwoven into the 21st century as we run into these battery powered platforms. So it's going to be an expense on do people who are in the market for this particular product. Which is up at the very top premium. They really are not concerned about cost. They are concerned about image. They're concerned about quality. They're concerned about excellence and something which absolutely stands out from probably everything else. Ian Did you? Do you ever regret not taking shop in high school? You know, I did take shop. I mean, it did it. They didn't have auto shop. They have metal shop and wood shop. And those were I mean, those are my favorite classes. I think I think I was probably one of the last class is to come through that actually had shop. I graduated in 1981. But, you know, Yeah. I mean, I think I think if I had been exposed to if there was a mechanic shop in school, my career could have taken a different path for sure. I spent three days this week on a video seminar, a webinar for cod delis, service.

Okay. Email will send one over to you, Carol. Why? Just a picture. She could just get her phone number and you can text her like some video right now. I can get text. But I have an old flip phone so they can't be too complicated. Well, Carol, send it. Send us that email. And maybe Robert will send you one of his 10. Tons. Sculptures? Yes. And Yes, way make Carol's Day and I think she made out with a There you go. I mean, and I don't know. Should we go into a sideline of fixing computers and flip phone now? Flip phones? I don't know. That's uh, kind of limited thing to talk about. Matchmaking watching up, you know? Yes. And happily married. I'm sorry, Carol. Sorry count, but you know the thing about this, which is an enticing about this whole, uh, Nicole, The Facebook thing is like, yeah, you know, with we can start doing all these kind of interactive things and we can we'll be able to see each other and people will be able to You know it'll be live and you were talking about being actually be able be able to host like live events right where we could all meet on Facebook and discuss certain specific Um, usually automotive topics, not relationship. We're not the relationship show. We're not the dating show where the way we do relationships with cause with cars with cars, But it's talking to Eric right now. We're talking to Eric right now on Facebook about his 2015 2015. So you're the highland? What's he got going on? What's you know what's happening with that? He's asking about servicing and maintenance. And which what? What? We think he should do. Got any opinions, guys. General maintenance? Well, yes. General maintenance. What year is it? You should call any one of us, right? 2015 Highland. You know he's driving. One of them boiled one of the more reliable cars ever built. And really, you know, we always talk about it on the air is, you know you've got that owner's manual got the factory recommended. Maintenance schedule. Just stick to it. If you're in New York City, um You know you really want to stick to the severe maintenance schedule, but that you know you've gotta win there, man. That thing's amazing vehicle it. It's it'll last for a very long time. If you just Play the papers, they say in the music business. Just do do what it says in the manual. Yeah, except maybe for the transmission. It wasn't that whole thing Jeff about if you got 100,000 Mile car and the transmission shifting well, but the manufacturer's saying you need to change the fluid. You might. You might want to think about that. Yeah, It was definitely something that's not cut and dry. It's something that you need to look at what the current condition of the fluid is, and if it's clean, then you could do a service. If it's already started to burn, or you're having a condition I would recommend, you know, addressing that people make the make they make the mistake all the time on my transmission just started slipping and let me go get the fluid and filter changed. It sounds as being like, Yeah. That's the biggest mistake any. Yeah, that's the biggest mistake. Anybody can make. The other one I think is, you know if it were a full if it were a full wheel drive, I would make ah, whole bunch of different recommendations. In comparison to the two wheel. The two wheel is very. It's a non complicated front wheel drive vehicle, but when they make those vehicles four wheel drive, it becomes a very complicated system that has some specific issues that we Have information on you know Yeah. I mean, it is like Mike, you were saying? It's like you do wanna mean you follow the factory, uh, maintenance schedule, but at the same time you want to consult with somebody that you trust t maintain your vehicle because there are special conditions like let's say You're the person with the Highlander that's regularly towing a boat. There might be a different recommendation from from, you know the place that's normally maintaining your vehicle. So, um No. You follow the factory recommended Pair schedule but then also listened to people. You trust that? No. Um a little bit more than just the factory. The then the owners man. I agree with everything you said David, except I want to Okay. You said the biggest mistake anybody could make the biggest mistake any motors can make is not to the listen to this show. Okay, Okay. All right, all right. Not that we're you know. S o. If you listen to this show, then you'll know what mistakes not to make right. That's true. Speaking of mistakes, you know, go ahead. And I'm sorry I was going to say, since Eric is already on Facebook and auto lab radio. He knows how to reach us all or reach Jaffer. Whoever because everybody's information is pinned to the top of the page there. So thanks for doing that this week, and I noticed that I appreciate it has problems as he told all this friends to tune it. That's right. Well, everybody's got a like us on Facebook and tell your friends But speaking of mistakes there, Speaking of mistakes, I was talking with a customer this week on she was Quite distraught that she followed. You know, she, you know, read consumer reports and she, uh, she she went for the you know, the most reliable the best and everything and in its class. And she bought it. And it turns out that her family doesn't fit in the car. And she was quite she bought the vehicle and she said well, but it was the best car out there and Robert say, sit in the car front in the car, you know, she said, But she did She like just had this. She was so excited about buying one of the best cars in its class. That she just didn't do the math with with the two child seats..

"All right, speaking room. Speaking of call is Let's see what Charlie Finch has to say today, Charlie. Good morning. Good morning, all deliver libertines if they returned to planned obsolescence. Remember that David Goldsmith, how you tease that consumers with new models every year and get them to, you know, go into debt and by a little more. Okay. I was a major marketing strategy and growth America in the fifties. In case you people don't know it Now. Two weeks ago, you had as a guest on the show my friend, radio host Frank Murano. You know Mike Ports, Kelly and auto Liberators that on Thursday night at 11 o'clock while driving and Staten Island on Richmond Boulevard that Frank Morano had a huge pothole and blew out his tire. He then got out of his car and he was on his way to work doing overnights in another station uptown from you guys. And he decided to change his tire. Frank used the wrong end of the Jack but was able to get his tire change successfully. And he got back into his car started to driving, hoping to make it to the station before he went on the air when I am As he was driving in his car. There was a beeping, indicating that his tire pressure was going flat and instead of getting out stopping the car And then looking at his tire. He decided to decrease his speed, hoping to make it to the station, taking that the tire pressure signal which will go up, which it did. And he reminded himself that since he has to drive home after five hours, who live Monday through party on the radio at often falls asleep at the wheel. That if the tire pressure gauge other signal went off as he was driving home that would keep him awake Western for my dear friend and teammate Robert Erskine. In anticipation of his eight o'clock essential segment, which we hope Mike Porcelli will interrupt with a dangerous anecdote about driving with your elbows while you have your arms around a beautiful woman. How many heirs Robert Erskine did Frank Murano make that monologue, which I just get Charlie? Plenty. Plenty of money. Plenty. You know the biggest mistake Frank made Charlie. Charlie. What's the biggest mistake? He didn't call triple A? No, He didn't call me and he knows, And he knows he could have all right on. Thanks, Charlie. The funny thing is Charlie. That was really cool. And the funny thing about flat ties is I was going to talk about flat tires today, too, because your wife have. Ah, my wife called me last night on her way home from work, and she had a flat tire. Mm. Well, you know, it seems to be an epidemic. Flat tires. Culture boy. Yeah, that's it. I am tripling got a culture you are tripling. That's it. All right. All right. Let's see. Let's see what riches calling about from New Jersey rich. Good morning. Morning. I have a Toyota camera water is entering. Through the firewall when it rains. My mechanic tells me that Pine needles clogged, drained. From the pan underneath at the base of the windshield. And my question is how do I clean that out? And how do I prevent that from the clogging from happening again? Jerry. They got pine needles out there and Seaford Long Island. They got everything. What does he do it? You have to take the upper plate of the wipers. The Cover off. Yeah, to get into that and clean it out, too. Preventive. Um, people surrender yet. Stay away from trees. Uh, you know that old song Don't park under the apple tree. Yeah, that's it. You could put a five to make a cover. They do make a cover. They make a capital grille cover not necessarily specifically that car, but they originally for a 65 Mustang. I remember when they made the Mustangs area. That was That was a big mistake, right? Yeah. We're gonna do that. Everything to this thing with you. It kind of looks. Yep. Yep. Remember those that that was just a big giant design floor so rich to your point? Like on the kid car. Wait. Hold is the car. It's over. It's a No. Five Oh, you know, 15 years. I mean, clean it out and you'll be fine for another 15 years. Yeah, I mean, the thing is, there's some 15 years to get to this point. Yeah, There's some cars that are really famous for having Cal drain design problems. I think the 65 Mustang was probably the most famous one. Um, yeah. Robert Hurston's raising his hand. Yeah, he's seen that it was used to rot out. But more modern day cars like they're Volkswagen's analogy is very, very, like every car that comes in because they have ah, insufficient drainage system for their cowl. Cal drains We always whenever the vehicle comes in for annoyed change, we clean the cowl drains. There's some cars that are worse than others. Yours rich. Is not a known, you know, I think just probably right. You know, every 15 years, maybe every seven years you clean it out, you know, and different ways. Sometimes you can get to it from above, like, Jerry said other times you've got to get You got to take the wheels off and then the fender linings come out, But your your mechanic would know how to clean it out. And then, like Johannes says I would stay away from trees as much as you can. Okay. Did you bring up a great point about checking the drains on an oil change? We do that? I'm sure everybody here. Does that. How many shops you think? Do that on an oil change? Yeah. I mean, a lot of cars like you raise the hood. And you see all those leaves over there No matter what car you have. You should just Have somebody clean him off. Help clean it out. Is there If he didn't I'm afraid about. I have another car, which is a Subaru and I'm back. And I'm afraid that I mean, I can't move my neighbors preys on. Do they come into my open my driveway. So I'm afraid that same problem might occur with Subaru. Where can I get a cow will cover one of the maintenance. You know, I don't know. If they like part of the bait and schedule. You can use anything to cover a cowl. You know what I mean? That's true. I mean, you could cover the car, but I would just say make it like, Jeff said, Make it part of the maintenance when you bring it and have them, check the drains and then clear him. Otherwise, you're gonna have to kill your neighbor's trees. Like poison under the ground, you know, But that wouldn't be right. That would be treatment form that the tree falls on the tree falls. And yet on your car, That's no good. So just have your you know where? Yeah, sure. Robert. What do you What do you do in England? Every time you wash the Every time you wash your car, he says weekly. That's what you should be doing in this wintertime. I don't do that. The hood. Removed the DeBary. Yes. Round around the windscreen wiper spindles finished. Great idea, Robert Question for all this shop guys here. How many cause come in for any kind of work. You open the hood and the cowl is completely packed with vegetation. Yeah, mud, sometimes his things. Sometimes these things crawling in that and it's the same when you open the trunk around the gutter. We've had things growing in trunk, Gunness. Yeah, Absolutely. Yeah. So it's good to rich. It's great that you live with that because it's something that everybody should kind of. A little bit more aware of and can keep those Cal drains clear. Thank you very much for your help. I have a question for Mike. All right, Rich. Thanks for calling question for Mike. Question for me. Okay? Do I have a question for Mike? Because we're talking about, you know, the wintertime in Washington car and I was just talking with my car buddies Thea other day about driving on a road with salt. And is it better if you do drive on a road that has solved? Is it better to wash the undercarriage when you get home? Or leave it because there's two schools of thought. There's the If the salt is is mixed with water, then it becomes more of. Ah, more corrosive becomes more of an election about or if you just leave it, there s so what's what's better. I say, Leave it. If you can leave it dry and frozen and dry until the weather is warm, And when you wash it, you can wash it, you know completely And you're not just re wedding. The salt. You know you don't want to. You don't want to do a half a job. Just wet it and let it stay there Wet. Leave it dry until you can clean it. And let it dry out. Which might be April. Thank you. Yeah. Okay, June. That's that's enough information for this half hour. We're going to take a short break and we'll be right back after the break with more. Actual technical information.

We'll We'll figure out what that is later, but right now Speaking of real time we have some real time callers. Um, let's have the whole call this hold on for just a minute. While we hear Robert Erskine's report for the week, Robin What have you got for us today? Something some new car company. Yeah, a very small new car company. Um, This is really great news that that's coming up from Europe. We're talking about a company called Still Antis. Which means from Latin to Brighton with stars. So what are we talking about? This is the birth of the world's fourth largest automotive manufacturer. Had with 14 car brands. Still antisense set to become like Tesler. I think the new interrupter on the block of the automotive industry. Now I'm not talking about, you know, wacky, zany cars that are gonna come pouring out of factories all across Europe. I'm talking about a company, which has just announced its perfect marriage with fit Chrysler automobiles on this is the marriage between the P ece and citrine group that we've been following for quite some time. Now this group has relaunched itself as still antis on in a nutshell. What is this really all about? Well, key toe. What This organization is going to do, I think is very, very exciting. It's going to allow each of the 14 unique groups. To be themselves to draw upon their own people. Drawer upon their engineers, their designers. They're mechanics. They're technicians. They're organizer's. Each of the 14 groups, which we're going to hear about in the coming weeks are all going to be allowed to be given their own head and to develop their own identity, And this is a special exciting As we're talking about the real take up off electric vehicles, and all of that entails..

Erskine call you're shaking. You're shaking. Tell us what you want to say. Because I asked people this question all the time. Do you have a bad back? Is it too low for you? I know, I know. Yeah, but you know what, Steve? There were issues. Is this a civic Oren? According to court records, it's in accord. I know that there were there were complaints on certain Honda's late model Hondas on seat design. And the ergonomics and how people fit in them. And But I tell people all the time, um, that you know, you've really gotta sit in that car and you gotta sit in it for a while for you. But before you buy it, because what may be comfortable to you may not be right. Right? Right. You could By the way, she's 5 to £118 and at the same way she was 50 years ago, so she's in excellent shape. She walks three miles a day, but it doesn't work for her, right. It just doesn't work out. And people say to me. Oh, you know, it's the it's rated like number one by consumer reports, But yet if you sit in it, and it hurts your back or it hurts your legs. What's good, is it so But state? How long is she sitting in the vehicle? Like just happen right away or on long drives. She doesn't work anymore, she said. My retired and she says she just uses the car, you know, just her daily routine, and it doesn't show probably put 10,000 miles on the car of the year. You know, she never complained. But now she's complaining that their backwards no good thing If you do so, little lumbar support that might help her. Yes, we've got it. We've got we've got a nurse on air here. Giant. Good thing is, if you can do if you know what car you want to want to purchase before you purchase it. And then they bring in to have me check it out. And he spends 4 $5000 on it. Then it's gonna take another 3000 ago. Why did you Why didn't you think it's what she wanted? I just You know, I couldn't stop her from getting and now he's in deeper than he could ever want to be so cold. You really a purchasing psychologist, aren't you? Dios. Maybe I You know, it's more than I am. And it's It's really because I'm a car is so much more than a car. No, it's like what what Robert always says. What we always say. It's a It's a symbol of your freedom. It's the way to escape. It's it's your office. It's your kids. It's so many think conversations, you know, taking rides with the family. There's so much more to it. That that people get very swept up and I just want to say you really just got to be, you know, really have that clarity and yeah, I mean, that's what I help people do, Which is why I'm not offended. Jerry because I believe that there's a great way to do this. And that's why I started car savvy. Any of you want to reach me, But you go. Right, Jeff, Jeff, you agree or disagree. You know, I think it goes back to what David was saying. You know, people need to adjust their expectations. You know, buying a car for $5000 in 2020 21. Yeah. You're not gonna get anything that has any real value for five grand. You know to me that every day, By the way, Yeah, you know you You know if you're gonna buy a car for your daughter You gotta figure going to spend $10,000. So if you bought the company 55 into it. There you are. There's the number makes a lot of sense to me, eh? I don't think buying a 10,000 seems to be something I want to spend $10,000 like. That's not going to do it either. It isn't it, isn't it, Isn't it? Yeah, my clients, you know, that's that's you have to be straight out, you know? Is it? Any entrance is that will really put you really behind anybody who buys a car in that price range? Just needs a really good mechanic. Uh, yeah. And and and and a slightly fatter versus inspection. Yeah. You know, I think what happens most likely not going to get a warranty. I want people to understand. They're not going to get a warrant. It'll probably be over 100,000 miles. You'll have no lemon lawn that whatsoever. Just you have to be aware of what you're doing. Yeah, it's a calculation. And if you go into Ah purchase situation, you're purchasing something with unrealistic expectations and a lot of emotion. Boy, you're you're not going to end up in a good place. You're not going to end up in a good place, but, you know, cutting the cold every classic corporate just ever show me your end up. You end up with something that you don't like. It becomes like buyer's remorse, and it bugs you every single time you get in that car for the next four years or five years ago the thing so it's important to make the right choice. Especially, they're locked into a contract. It's like picking the wrong person in your life. Marriage. That's the other thing is Wait. Knowing when to cut your losses, Knowing when enough is enough. You know, we've been I'm sure I'm sure everybody's had the person coming to the shop. They bought some, like BMW. For like $20,000. It's original like a $90,000 car. They have a five year note on it. And it needs, you know, $6000 a work every time it will comes into the shop. Well, for me, it's the Land Rover, but they see this Land Rover and they get a great deal on it. And then to fix the Land Rover is just open up your wallet and you just have to have that's where I got a great deal on it. Don't take that personally. Robert Erskine Yeah? People. We can hear Robert, but I don't know why. I take it very personal. Her Majesty think this is a insult on British people. How, Dave that it is a fact Some of these land rovers and range rovers they are They're wonderful, but they're a pain. Keep going on like BMW's. We've just heard. If you get the smallest component that fails and you take it into the shop, there's always a substantial bill. You know, I tell my customers all the time. You know the 1st 100,000. The 2nd 100,000 miles on a car is always a lot more eventful than the 1st 100,000. And if and if you're gonna be in it, one of vehicle across the boatload of money to fix it every time I watch out Robert Robert, those Land Rover is Those land rovers you shipped here. Your revenge for burning the White House, right? No, it's it's the fact that you emptied crates of tea. That's what Let's not. Let's not rehash that one to shake. Yeah, thing I find really funny about the Land Rover is that the initial of Exposure that we all had to do You see them like driving in Africa, right? That was the water mountain with a snorkel, and it looks like the most rugged, most durable, never most reliable car ever, and they put it on a regular street instead of the Serengeti. So, Robert, you seemed to like these French cars and French design. Are you still going to feel the same way now that France Has overtaken the U. K as Europe's number two car market. You've been bumped. Oh, well, yeah, I have definitely been booked. Mr Definitely look, if every country has its strength in terms of its design engineering what it is about in terms of the auto automotive industry. We are at a very interesting crossroads. Everything is being changed. There is a clean sheet of paper on the horizon, which is electricity, battery powered vehicles, so it's only right. Everyone's doing their own own thing. But his terms of the French will definitely be well, evey, you know, like Ian, it was talking about how design was really affected by the whole of fuel economy stuff. But evey all these electric cars is going to change. Give Give the kind of the designers clean Slate right? Because the engine is going to be in a different place. There is no engine right, so the batteries are low. You could do all kinds of things. With design. They're much more career much more designed freedom, more freedom to just do stuff that you know they had a think about what? Where do we put this damn radiator, you know, but now they don't have to do that anymore, right? Rob it. Now that everybody is building electric cause When do we see the electric Erskine coming out? Well, that might possibly be a electric Erskine bicycle. You know, it's it's always great fun to take a push bike and stick a power pack on it somewhere. That's that Z. From you know who knows? Freedom rides, which started in 1961, where white and black students traveling on Greyhound bus is from the north to the south, to interrogate the segregationist Jim Crow South Many of the drivers of those Greyhound Busses who are just working a job were shot at and if you were even killed, but the southern races When Dr Martin was the king went to Memphis. Dr King was vilified by everyone in the civil rights movement for taking up this cause of cause for which he gave his life. And I remember vividly at the age of 15 seeing these workers walking up and down in protest in front of the racist cops of the South all Democrats, by the way, like me saying, I am a man that's funny, Mike Porcelli Like most your jokes, wasn't me. Finally, the last words that Dr King spoke On the balcony of the Lorraine Motel word to the driver of his black Cadillac Dr King's preferred car model, a classic if simple design. He spoke them to his trusted driver, Solomon Jones on the balcony. And he said it feels like a cold Tonight. Mr. Jones had Dr King I think you should go in something. Get a top coat. When Dr King turned he was shot to death. One more thing. 10. Years later, Dr. King's father, Martin Luther King Sr. A conservative, was assassinated in the pulpit of the Ebeneezer Baptist Church. Some white racist nut. The new senator Mr Warnock of Georgia, is the pastor of the Ebeneezer Baptist Church. My problem is that a lot of commentators and conservative radio and Nancy Pelosi and none of us know the kind of nuances And the history that the auto Web is always bringing us. One more thing. "Lifelong car enthusiast and call guy. In coffee in one hand and mention the other. Okay, Very good. And Robert Erskine Linked to the British Empire. If it is still an empire. Yeah. World renowned sculptor, designer and car guy, Rob it Good morning. A very warm welcome to you from a very cold and it's just started to get foggy here in England. What do you think it's for you? It's not going around London not exactly breaking news fog in London is there It was a raincoat named after them Breaking news way, Unfortunately, have our breaking news that our virus pandemic has gone out of control. Broken news. It's broken you so those of you in England who are listening to auto lab and I know that we have a following. Get your masks on social distance. So your hands stay indoors. Snuggle down and listen to auto lab. All right, Robert. What is the braking Auto news from Europe this week? Well, it's really, really cool and slightly, I would say worrying. I don't like to talk about worrying things. But you know, in great Britain, we are very famous. For a lot of delicious color in Italy delights that means food on we do make some very nice food, one of which is our famous fish and chips. Oh, I'll tell you just just the thought of fish and chips just makes me feel very hungry and they are the very best. They're probably the best of England's currently delights. But you can't have your fish without your chips. You're probably thinking. What the hell am I talking about? I am. I'm wondering. Yeah, well, you're gonna be you're gonna be knocked off your purchase this morning because there is a serious situation that is about Hit global production off vehicle manufacturing, and I would imagine a lot of other Manufacturing items that we love. That's our laptops are phones, tablets. Anything that has and you know what I'm going to say anything that has a microchip in it. Is being attacked at this moment. So what is it in a nutshell. Well, Mike, the situation is as follows. Production has slowed right down across the world in terms of almost everything because of the pandemic. One particular component that to really important in cars, and that is what we call a semiconductor. That's one thing and you could also really wrap it all up and call it a microchip. Where do microchips go in vehicles? Well, they are. They're in almost every controlling circuitry that you could think of. Think of your electronic control unit. Think of your adaptive braking system. Think of your climate control that you have in your vehicles where you consent, the heating and the air conditioning to do what it's supposed to do. All of these things are controlled. My micro chips. Microchips are very hard to spot if you drop them on the floor because they're so very, very small. Hence the name microchip, but they do a very important job of controlling all the Elektronik control units that we think off. Think of also your electronic stability program that you have in your vehicle. Think of a BS. The list goes on and on and on and what is happening is that China is literally soaking up most off the production of chips because a lot of these chips are made in China. And the reason for this simply is because China is one of the biggest continents on this planet that has an insatiable appetite for new vehicles, hence a lot of manufacturers of beating a path to China to set up shop and sell their wares. They are soaking up most of these microchips for their vehicle production, and it's causing a real issue in terms of production here. In mainland Europe companies such as B V W. Companies such as Bush, who is one of the world's largest porter's supplier, off components and parts are now stating their our supply chain bottlenecks. A certain components, which all contain the microchip on it's predicted that as we run into 2021, there is light at the end of the tunnel. There's going to be a slight flickering of the bulb. Due to a demand for these chips, which means a slowing up off manufacturing because parts are running dry and very quickly. Mike Yesterday evening I received a press release to say that Honda is actually About to cease production off one or two of its vehicles at this moment as we are on air because it can't get enough off the microchips. That's where we are Robert. Yesterday when we spoke about this, I did a little research. I found at least that doesn't press releases just talking about how Honda is being affected. And many other manufacturers are going to be slowing down production also, so Nicole, what's this going to do to use copper prices a new car prices? If you can't buy new cause what's going.

Has that got something to do with us wanting to hook just like me one another, because we can't because of the virus, who said soft loose, who said who said softer and rounder was going to be the theme this yourself like the car gods, or they? There's a cab, all of Designers that said, softer and rounder is the theme. Well, It's really weird, because, you know, I got a press release from one manufacturer, and then I thought, Oh, this.
