"Whatever else like pretty much from eighty five to two thousand. That spanned films are unbelievable. And when you look at whatever the top hits were they're all good now. It's like yeah might be the best movie in america by ratings but it doesn't take nothing for me to write. You know the funny thing is to. There's a reason behind it. That is kind of a glaring obvious. reason We went from practical effects to like mostly. Cgi now yup not so different. And i feel like cgi is like the auto tune of the music industry. Are this point right of the movie industry. It's like cgi is the filler. Fuck talent you know. Let's not find a practical way to figure this out. Make it work. Let's just throw a computer at it and fucking let it figuring out then. Let's task the people the most instagram followers instead of the best actors. And then let's your reboots of the same thing we've seen fifty times because we know people like obviously what. Are you going to do like that that this become shit. Drop because there's no original thought in the entire process of things. It's a lot riskier to not was sequel or reboot or whatever but but at least there's some original thought that goes into the concept of what you create exactly and i mean at least you go into it if it's original new. There's nothing to compare it to the united. There's no standard. It has to meet because nightmare now street. Everybody's gonna hate it right out the gate. Because it's not robert englund so fuck it like rape. Everyone hates it there. There's those curious that just don't like that to be fucked with and yeah i to this day. One of my all time favorite movies terminator two. Because i feel like they had this great combination of like some cgi but a lot of prior. Will that kind of you know merge those two things together and it still holds up today you know i..

"A lot of people on many different levels. But it's just one of the many horror movie angles that are out there with you, like those kind of movies are slasher movies or the movies that messed with your mind. Yeah, it is interesting. I guess I'm just not Ah. I like ghost stories that kind of having a train. I was talking about those audience members just joining us. The others was interesting to me with Nicole Kidman. It's kind of interesting. Take Ah, loved Or the Bruce Willis. I see dead people. Six cents 66 Cent. I mean, you know that had intrigue and and just, you know, kind of kind of a different kind of story. But the other ones were slashed with just here. Here you go, You know, And what was that one that there's one of those M Night Shyamalan movies where the aliens showed up, And it turns out that we could defeat them by just spraying them with water. Yeah, I like that movie. That was good and what is different? He's different now. What was the name of that movie and I thought it was good. I just came up with the name of it. And then And then there are some people. I remember my parents watching Twilight Zone when I was a kid and my dad always like to watch TV with lights out. You know, late at night, and that used to freak me out because I usedto lay in bed. We lived in a small duplex so I could hear the TV. So that's the creepiest thing. Forget it's just interesting, especially this time of year to see the different things that creep people out. So he was the director of the six cents Hey, also signs with the name of that one. Well, that was a good move. Yeah. Yeah, well, that was back in 2002. The sixth sense sense was in 1999 and my wife and sons get really mad at me because his movie the village In 2000 for I thought was the stupidest movie I've ever seen in my life. Well, contextually. It's kind of like these people live. In their little cult. Oh, and everything else and you know there's there's never an airplane that goes by. There's no aircraft go over over their little village and stuff like that I'm going is just so stupid to go. You got to suspend believe, well, you know. You know, you've got to suspend belief. Find out into what sides over the sixth sense is well, Vala just bug May I don't know. Well, I think it's it's everything like Willie mentioned you had the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. And then, of course she had Friday. The 13th, which will live in infamy and And a lot of people Forget about nightmare on Elm Street for me, I really because I love the Freddy Krueger character. And then when Robert Englund used to go on his media tours outside of costume, and you had a chance to listen to him. I was actually pretty. He was a pretty funny guy That's got sort of like a a following in itself, then people, But you know what, though, if I if it came down to a fight, I think I take Leatherface above everybody. Because change Donald Trump's Yeah. Clawed fingers. Yes and well, yeah, man enhanced, but it doesn't prove a goddamn can go through your dreams. That's right. And then you throw Jason into the mix. "But I think it's pretty odd because you know you that's the first time. You see those two together with the iconic battle between Michael and Laurie you know the first time they actually have that one on one connection battle. So that mean Oh yeah. Because it's like you're like, you said, it's the typical. It's a little bit more extreme brother sister fight. and. It's. It's to me. It's I. Mean the one thing that you always see. Like Fan art, of UC on t shirts, you see it on its when he's. Raising into the closet. And that's the iconic shot that you always see. And as you see the fear on lorries ace. And it I mean it looks. Genuine you know she is. The screen queen because I mean like I said her mom's Janet Leigh. and. Yeah. Yeah, it's. It's one of the. Hour I guess there's a lot of from there's a lot of heart in this movie. and Oh. There is A. Door John Carpenter for. Like. Somebody says like. Somebody asked me the other day I was like. I wasn't you did. You ask what one day it was like. You. Like I somewhat labeled. I know this probably. Probably. Get some slack. Hurt I kind of labeled. Giancarlo. As the. David Lynch or because David Lynch's war thriller like he puts out I feel like lead about let like David. Lynch I. Hope You know what I'm trying to say is 'cause like. David Lynch. He's weird but he tells the story. Really good and. Like John Carpenter. Ease does I. Mean they both put their heart into it so it's like. And they're both very artistic. With what they do and? Because I would. I like John Carpenter over West. Craven. 'cause. I agree with you on that. Carpenter's movies way more than West cravings. I mean. Like I feel like he knows how to. represent. The actual. The the horror villain in. Or anything that's like in the thing he represented he redid that movie so well. Of your original and like I mean, there's I just have a lot of appreciation for John Carpenter's home. To be honest I've why do you think it's still going on I think out of the whole classic slasher series Halloween the really only one that's still continuing. Yeah. Because I mean they pretty much ended Freddy and Jason In one movie. which that is true I. Still to this day when I watched that one because the. The watered down version of Jay from Jay and silent Bob and. It's yeah that one. That one didn't really for me. Obviously because I was just like the ending of two franchises, it seems and. then. They obviously tried to start. Street. With. Yeah I wasn't really a fan of that one. I thought they chose. Good actors but I'm like. Just. Didn't hit didn't hit the same. So I don't know if he recognized it to you, they used a lot of recycled material from Robertson lines to do. Yeah. You might as well. Just. Should've had rounded. England. But Hey Exactly. You can't. Obviously with a character I, Kinda as him, you can't just remake and now I mean. He was the MTV. Movie. The the MTV or like villain that's what I always legal Hamed's because like he had a nine hundred. Form. Yeah. It's. No. You can't replace Freddie because you know you see Robert Space Like added with like Michael you know we all know they had ton of actor that played Michael Yeah. I don't WanNa seem easy to replace Michael but like I've run a mass can't see the face but. You know because I kind of face of Michael is. Scant. Jason and when you're characters really speak, it's easy to replace and that is true easy fill in but like when you have somebody. Is like. As charismatic as Robert Englund was like you can't. You can't replace him like I don't know. It was bad. If you're listening this. Watch all the original with Robert Anyone especially for. It's like the best one I think is that really brings in as a character. As an but. Yeah Let's go back to. The appreciation of John Carpenter and He pretty much. Like he's told me with the thing and obviously Halloween and then I started watching all the other stuff and you know it goes from escape from New York. In Yeah. Then goes into because he did they live to right. Am I get never run. Yeah because I. Needed a little fun fact. About John, with Halloween, actually the thing was actually cameo in Halloween. Oh, because they're watching that aren't there watching yet. There because it's the horror movie night on Halloween. Because I remember the face sitter was like, oh, we're probably just GONNA watch. The channel and it's like I remember seeing when All the guys around the spaceship. Staying Circle. I remember that seem that. That was one of the shots that was actually in it and yeah I remember that. was. Any. and. The thing is like one of my favorites John, Carpenter's because. The. The makeup and I mean. Out? I like all the practical make. Like they need to bring back practical makeup ex. Thank you. Thank you so much. I am like praising right now. Like don't get me wrong I love CGI but the thing is practical effects look saw realistic and like. About Tom you've you need for that because obviously we both know and everyone else knows that's listening. He is the king of that. Yeah, and it's a little art form. It's you. You. At.

Ym To apply for the American maybe be Robert Englund just bleeds through so much that you want to make him more and more likable we ate it even got to the point when they when the remake of nightmare neom street came out you you inevitably see people say do love crafty and take on Totoro or and then there's a whole area of Hawaiian on his quiet in a war what's your stuff to blow your mind we're going to talk about what it is to be cute what's going on something cute hijacks our brain and then at the end of the episode we're going to look to really three specifics samples of Japanese monsters that may or may not be transformed into something cute we'll be discussing the only the COPPA and the Tin Goo all right Robert you know like it's got the head of a seahorse in the body of a cow and that's a monster or or it's just a giant or the seahorse the size of a school bus infancy possess features that caused the adults of that species to protect them and take care of their needs right. If you are a species that has a genome and says we usually give birth to babies we find repulsive and don't want anything to do with that species isn't GonNa do very well right or at least you're going to have a situation unlike the Komodo dragon where the Young of the Komodo dragon they pretty much they're on their own right and they have to protect themselves from such threats as adult Komodo dragons we so this would be in species that need to spend a lot of time protecting and caring for their young this is something we see in mammals right right and others he's but this especially in mammals so a lot of Darwin's book deals with things like the screams of infants and how the scream of an infant elicits parental attention but usually if an object is screaming at you you don't you just you know don't you just find it annoying like you WanNa get away from it like if there's just an orb room screaming at you I wouldn't want care for it I would run away correct yeah if if if the human on a train screaming neither may be an want to find out what's happening you might even want to help but there's there's at least that question mark phase of the screaming what is going on here let me find out so that I can act accordingly yeah it's attention getting but the demands of an infant have to be more than simply attention getting to be adaptive they have to be sharpened to appeal to specific vulnerabilities the adult caregivers brain like vulnerabilities that soften anger responses and encouraged protectiveness and encouraged generosity in sharing sources and so forth so something about the infant version of an animal has to convince the adult version of that animal to feel an attachment make sacrifices on behalf of this little creature then we'll talk about this more in a second but in some species these appeals parenting could be straightforwardly chemical right fair amount on send would be examples but couldn't these biological appeals also be visual it makes sense right that's one of the most immediate ways to interact with with an object or being is you see them and then you respond right so in the middle of the twentieth century the Austrian theologist Conrad Laurenz who I guess we should maybe acknowledged it's always weird like should you bring this up or not he was also a Nazi after World War Two repudiated his views I'm not aware that his ideology Oh gee played any role in coming up with this scheme were about to talk about but I guess it's worth acknowledging Oh yeah I think it's always worth noting when the scientists has that in their background because in some cases you you definitely have science that that was skewed or compromised by its association with the Third Reich so you have to least acknowledged that it was there in order to turn determine if it was a factor. Yeah I mean like you had people doing science that was ideologically determined not very objective but I don't think if that's necessarily the case in this case so Lorenzo plunged into this field by observing animal species and coming up with what's known as the Kid skimmer or the baby Schema it's a list of features that he believed were sculpted in order to trigger or release caregiving behaviours in adult animal calls and he gave up about seven criteria so let me know what you think about the is Robert who got a large head okay yeah babies have big heads predom- imminence of the brain capsules that's going to be not just a large head but sort of the large forehead like the swelling of the upper part of the head large and lower allying is a bulging cheek region there's the Churchill jowls we were talking about short and thick extremities okay a springy or elastic consistency. Yeah they can you poke 'em in the soft body there's your plush doll and finally it clumsy movements yes the toppling of the toddler right and subsequent studies have found evidence to partially support Lorenza Schema so this is one reason you think that it you know even if he's got some kind of crazy ideology there might be something to this because subsequent studies seem to find some of the same stuff is true so I mentioned a study from two thousand nine published in the theology by Melanie blocker at all and this is called baby Schema in infant faces induces cuteness perception motivation for caretaking in adults and what they did in the study was they used real photos of infants digitally manipulated to accentuate or two on play some of the features that are in line with Lorenzo's criteria and so among a group of undergraduates the study found that the faces manipulate headed toward the criteria so meaning they manipulated him to have larger eyes or a rounder face or a higher forehead we're judged to be cuter and elicited greater motivation for caregiving people said there were more likely to give care to these these more baby schema faces than the ones where they really downplayed the those criteria giving them smaller is smaller foreheads and narrower face and stuff like that now I've got a picture here yeah I'm looking for right now so basically we have a an array of six images Nh three Perot so we have this grid of baby heads here they were looking at uh-huh and and and the idea that there's a change in like cuteness from left to right yes so you've got like normal baby heads in the middle and then on the right you've got ultra defied baby faces right with like these gigantic is really round faces really sort of low faces with large foreheads big brain capsules and then on the right you've got unbathed defied baby faces that look sort of more like the kid in the omen they look more adult basically they look more like old men you know they're kind of in that category of like the older baby babies that we look at them maybe you cringe a little bit before you tell the parents that it's a beautiful baby yeah and they tend to have smaller is a smaller forehead I a narrower head and less rounding of the skull that they look they look like weird adults rather than babies you know and it's interesting to to did this and think of it in in light of our basically our evolved reaction to these faces I was looking at a study that said that scientists have used magneto orphee to observe a seventh of second response time in adults too unfamiliar infant faces but of course not adult faces and that's going to that's that this is gonna be manifest in this array of faces as well like the cuter the baby the more immediate response to it I imagine so like you see this cute baby faced with the l. e. bay fide features and you're like Whoa that I need to pay attention to that yeah I've gotta look at that and if it needs something I guess I will go by some of course and pudding or whatever it is babies e right put zip ties on all my cabinets as horrible plastic things and all my wall plugs I know I'm still trying to work through all the baby proofing my house so really there's still some annoying babyproofing that haven't quite like broken by forcing a grower open but one of the interesting things about the recognition of cute nece and its biological function is that it appears to work not just within species now I can't see any real reason that you would evolve to her of a caregiving preference for animals other than your own species so it might be one of those things that's just a byproduct of something that's highly adaptable all related to all these other mammalian creatures yeah and they're all they all have the basic basically the same survival techniques in place in terms of of a parental care for the infant yeah and it's kind of obvious from our experiences with kittens and puppies and so forth but experiments do confirm that our appreciation for cuteness goes beyond the infant Homo sapiens one example is study found by Anthony Little from two thousand twelve published again and he called manipulation of Info like traits affects perceived cuteness of infants adult and cat faces so it found that among images of three types of faces babies adults and cats first of all people found the babies and the cats cuter than adults but then also win the faces from all three categories were manipulated to have baby schema characteristics for example decreasing the jaws is an increasing the forehead height people found them cuter in this worked for adult face says for human baby faces and for cat faces okay so getting in kind of the Betty boop area there of like the the weird like infantile but arguably attractive adult female yeah it's it's just seeming to imply that we have the same kind of caregiving response or cute this response to faces of all different types of creatures no matter what age and no matter what species even if there's a face and you make these certain types of changes to the face we think it's cute usually and we respond with all you know Zip tied the chemical cabinet you know it it's interesting to think of it in terms of survival adaptations for for non human animals when you think of of a domesticated animals cats dogs Because certainly I think I certainly read some studies that argue for the the cats ability to essentially hijackers by making us think it's a baby on some level and I think dogs do that due to a large extent is is certainly with puppies so I could see it as a situation where an infant dog or or cat that is either found tained when the parents are killed like suddenly those are less likely to be then killed and eaten or scanner left for dead by the the humans who have found handed it hits those same triggers you know now another study I came across a two thousand twelve Japanese study published peel one and they tested the effect viewing images are cute images on attentiveness and they've found that individuals who viewed infant animal images perform tasks better than suv you'd adult animals yeah seems weird like so just if you had to have a calendar your desk have the The baby animals calendar as opposed to the the grownup animals calendar I don't know I feel I feel unfairly. Skeptical of that result is they've been replicated well let's let's see so it's not just a matter according to the study of cute things making happy or amusing they also allegedly improved performance tasks that wire behavioral carefulness. Oh I can see that yeah so it's not it's not so much there's not a magical effect going here the idea that the cute visible stimuli may actually narrow the breath of attentional focus I can see that no like seeing a baby face would put the mind into a don't drop the be gear exactly and then you take that gear and you apply it to work in your spreadsheet I can see that yeah okay I understand the mechanism now now different studies have also looked at the effects of cute.

"Welcome back it is the biggest take charge of your Chris when filling in for Mister sharp nothing like a little Alice in chains to wake you up in the morning by the way so we covered this story yesterday we've been covering it throughout the week where we heard that the other was a possible agreement between MGM properties and the October one victims in this lawsuit we played some of that live press conference yesterday where that's around where they came up with some more clothes dated a million dollars there's twenty five hundred people involved in this and the woman we have with us on the line right with this right now it's not really want her to tell her story when she thinks about all this her name is Dr heather Melton she lost her husband tragically in the October one shooting a few years ago and she's really gracious and nice enough to join us this morning heather thank you so much for being here how are I'm I'm good okay thank you for having me other I know this I can't even imagine how difficult this is for you to talk about and I hate to ask you about it but just to if it's okay to give people a little bit of background on what took place that night obviously your your late husband is a hero out for what he did but can you give people a little bit of background on you know waking up that morning it was just a regular day and then just go from there and tell us what you can if that's okay other. thank you we've been out there for all three days and I'm. you know just like any day of the three days of stressful we went there where they're most today we're actually having a really great time and we had discussed possibly even going home early because we had a flight the next day but we are having such a good time we decided to stay the night and I mean probably like as far as the three we what really went there to see Eric church on the first night bye we're having a really good time that night and we had had a meet and greet with bacon ranch and just the whole atmosphere was really cool like there was just every people of different races and ages and just all coming together and having a really good time and we had actually commented on the live just because there's been such negativity in our culture lately it just felt really quiet and so we were just dancing and singing and I first heard you know just kind of a pop pop pop. and I you know look at my husband Sonny and I said you know that calm firing goes on I think it might be fireworks but it was you know loud music you're in Vegas you don't know necessarily where it's coming from well the second round that went off was much longer and if anybody seen the videos they know exactly what I'm talking about but you know it became very obvious that this was not fireworks and that somebody was shooting at us almost impossible to tell where it was coming from and people just started falling down and people were running and there's twenty two thousand people we're pretty close to the front. I said to my husband I said you know we we need to get down and he said no we'll get trampled and so he just wrapped his arms around me from behind we started running we maybe only took two steps and I still can get shot in the back. this. yeah go ahead. at that point we both kind of fell to the ground and I couldn't tell where he had been shot but he was not responding to me and so there is still a you know a fire storm of bullets around us I could feel like the concrete ricocheting and hitting me I mean quite honestly I was waiting for any moment to get hit myself you know in there which is kinda like people on the ground and screaming and so I did he wasn't responding I honestly was like having a hard time telling if you have a cold if he is breathing it was just dark and it was chaotic and so I just started performing CPR on him and I'll just screaming for help and then he started bleeding from his mouth at that point and. in all my training I knew probably you know that he and he had died but I did I couldn't believe that you know I couldn't believe it like it's so surreal and so easy you almost like wait essentially you know is this really happening then and I still can't holding out hope that I I was trying to get him off the field and at that point in a larger screen instrumen finally two guys came out and help me carry monster filled and they put him on the back of the truck. so it wasn't even a paramedic it was it was two bystanders down there is no paramedics is just you concertgoers Anna we're in the back of a truck with another man who was shot who also past the young girl who was shot and she was alive and they were doing CPR on them all the way to the hospital. actually it as we're leaving like speeding down you know the the strip going through red lights or whatever then first responders we're heading in the opposite direction towards the venue. so or the time we live nobody was even there and when we showed up at the hospital is just a small like local hospital wasn't the trauma center. they were they had no idea that the shoe not even a card. so they were preaching in a back when they have a truckload full of injured people you know. going in there and they took financial room and I think you know it was a very long before they came out and just said you know the lady we know our your shot on say at that time because I think the original reports that you shot in the head but it was it was in the shoulder and you know and that kinda was beginning of a nightmare shot in the shoulder obviously I'm not a doctor because when you say you know shot died instantly you think head or chest right right well it entered in flash older but it went diagonally across his chest. everything it could hit. no I understand I'm so sorry that that you had to go through that I guess the only thing you can say that at least at least you know in the last moment you when your husband that day have we're having a fantastic time together I guess that's why you have to take away from the great time that you are having right other right and I mean we have we always had a great time together but I I literally remember at one point looking at him and think game blank thanking god that. I found him in that I was able to have that kind of love that I didn't know was possible long did you know him for. five years side here is a very long yeah and I was going through a bad divorce when I met him so we went through some really bad times and we were actually at a point we just send merry for about a year and we're building a home together and just kind of like starting our lives over after the destruction that a lot of people know divorce can be how would you want to tell people about him you know for people that maybe never knew him a what would you want to say about him. well I think what everybody talks about you to either forget have you had the smile that lit up around eight he was a nurse and he was just the most compassionate loving like. person I've ever met and that he just had a way about him that if you met him you know you remember him and I've received many letters from his patience I just talked about you know what a caring nurse who lives in a gentle soul I mean he just was almost too good to be here for too long I feel you know he just sure back and a person will have their first of all let me just say thank you for for sharing I know it's the campy easy for you to share that story with us that you just told us thank you for doing that now that we know the hell that you've had to go through in losing him and having to live with this every day for the rest your life I want to talk to you a little bit about the settlement that was reached between MGM and I believe twenty five hundred people right including yourself what are your what is what was your initial reaction when you heard that MGM had final settled with this lawsuit. well you know I mean. we knew we knew something was happening we haven't been told a lot to be honest with you and that was intentional I think but like I can't I was actually operated and I came out operating room and somebody had the article found on their phone and said I guess you know about this right and like honestly my first as follows sponsors really that's all it made me kind not invaded and sick to my stomach and. I I don't know I mean I guess it is kind of like you know a lot of people think well you know you're getting the sound and but we can't win the lottery we lost you know. others even if they gave me the whole amount I wouldn't take it if I could have my husband back of course right now and I know I completely understand that money's not gonna bring him back. and you know I mean I get you know and I think about the people who are still in in during surgery than my medical expenses beyond and I hope it brings some closure to a lot of people I I don't think if you've lost somebody you'll ever have real closure I think that she is a word that kind of gets tossed around there but for me I think you know it's gonna bring me any closure I mean I I I I didn't want to be in litigation on MGM or anybody to be honest with you it just. eight I'm I'm glad that they decided to work something out without that actually happening so have the Robert Englund who is the lead counsel who represent was rep representative attorney in the if for for the twenty five hundred players including your family said easy quote unquote well nothing will be able to bring back the lives lost or I do the horrors of so many suffered on that day this settlement will provide fair compensation for thousands of victims and their families not course your you describe your feelings regarding you know the the amount of money and you know it it doesn't matter how much money it is it is not it's not gonna bring back your family what how does it make you feel any here you know the attorney you know is it speaking that way about the settlement. I mean I guess I know yeah elle. in I almost on a hot response I I mean. it is I mean but there's there's some people there's a whole spectrum of white people who file lawsuits have been toward from anywhere from probably PTSD too you know gas that there's people are paralyzed as people are still having surgery so I think for each person that probably means something different I think for me one of my biggest issues and I've expressed since my lawyer is that I wanted policy changed her. and I wanna talk one at that yeah I want to talk to you about that heather I want to give you a chance to talk about that are just joining us to speak with Dr heather Melton she lost her husband tragically inept over one shooting she was right there with them a few years ago we just had this MGM settlement yesterday okay had let's talk about that so now we talk about policy right we talk about gun control on the show all the time so what do you make first of all the weapons that paddock used the weapons he was able to get up there to that room we talk about assault weapons all the time on the show and I certainly think more needs to be done our politicians need to be working together heather it almost seems like we're talking about these mass shootings on a weekly basis what do you make of of where we're at right now in society with these mass shootings and what do you think should should be done. you know I mean not a diet is a huge question that I I don't even think most people grasp the enormity of even trying to change the I think I mean I personally think that we have had a humongous disconnect in this culture of having any value for life and this man also had explosives in his car and you know does psychopathology behind some of these people I mean it it's just horrifying and that they want to find a way to kill they're gonna find a way to kill I will tell you up front I I live in the south in you know my husband owns and they are in my brother's on times are all legal gun owners so and I don't think he'd want me to speak out against them but we obviously have to do something better to that the people who are purchasing these weapons and knowing how come you know what they're buying how much your line and also not just their their criminal background but also psychological background in some way to flag the individuals who should not be purchasing weapons as we know there was another shooting at a church with a man who was released from the military because of the psychological issues should not have been able to.

A Review of 'It: Chapter 2'
"Today. We're discussing. Sometimes it comes back for you where it's more boring name it. Chapter Two starring Jessica chastain James mcevoy Bill Hater Isaiah Mustafa Jay Ryan James Ran Soon Andy Bear. Some of these people have to just be happy their names on a poster oester. I mean who the hell some of these guys the old spice guy because his name above the title and Bill Skarsgard as pennywise directed by a Andy Machete this is Arnie Coz now playing and the fun is just beginning Ed Stewart and this is the host who still insists he sees the ghost Jacob it aftermath aftermath wow as Stephen King Fan as somebody really into Stephen King around the time this came out of you. Remember dark tower came out right before this. I was actually buying a couple of Stephen King Trotsky to go on my bookshelf with all my Stephen King Books. They're made like a Jack torrens action figuring things and I'm like you know they don't make too much of this so I'll get a couple of these and put them up there. It exploded merchandising for every Stephen King thing. There's a hot wheels Christine. There are more pennywise figures that I can count what I'm not kidding. Wow Yeah so ooh many pennywise toys of all price points this has opened a floodgate on Stephen King that has never been opened before merchandising him to the Gen xers. I think so what does that mean. I mean we all know what merchandise meant and fanning the love of Star Wars. What would it mean to hold a bobblehead. Ah pennywise Ernie called GEN-X. You GotTa Buy Your Co.. POPs gets by stuff by toys by Chachis of stuff you like and Stephen King's. The big caught thing now so let's just how the market is. Is it selling yeah okay. I mean I didn't buy any of it. The moment you know what I liked about it when it was niche and there was like two things I loved it when every week. I'm getting an email this new pennywise doll for two hundred dollars. I'm like fuck it pennywise varian Syrian funk. Oh pops are there. Oh my God so many long tongue pennywise bloody pennywise smiling pennywise frowning penny wise spider pennywise okay this kind. It helps me understand why you were so into skarsgard. They've really been able to magnify what was a very small part of the film really wasn't in that many scenes and by my impression Russian he was only good in about half of them so how he has lived on in the minds of the viewer is through merchandise he made an impression he scarred us and and now two years later he's coming back to finish the job yeah and again. I'd equate to a Freddy Kruger. I'd think it's the closest thing we've had to a horror icon. In a long time and Freddie never had that much screen time it was people talking about Freddie and Robert Englund Cameo films. You know so and I think merchandising we've made every Jason we've made every Friday. Oh my God pennywise we have something new to sell but the highest grossing nightmare on Elm Street movie wouldn't begin to touch the gross of of this fill it goes well beyond the reach of a horror audience. I mean this. There were people in my neighborhood I walk my dog and churchgoing folk who I would never suspect suspect to have opened a cover of Stephen King said. Oh it's coming out soon people. I would not imagine demographics that do not see any other horror. Film are are coming out this weekend and why the impression I got was they really loved the kits. Yeah I think that I it was huge and almost every viewing was sold allow. When I went to go see this Friday night theaters packed yeah you can keep going on about penny wise and I think you're right for a certain level of people that loves horror ICONOGRAPHY. That's a thing thing but I feel like in mass. The reason why this is so beloved because it goes those children were so good and it connected to childhood so well and that's the struggle of chapter or two. I know that the kids are coming back in some role but the torch is being passed. It will now be for new actors. That didn't even have the job when the first movie he came out. What's funny is before it chapter one came out the sequel was in pre production. You know the studio knew what they had right and so when they were you're doing pre release interviews with the cast they asked the young kids who would you like to play you and Young Beverly said Jessica chastain and that kind of makes sense I mean chastain had had worked with Michetti before and I mean how many red headed actress sent me as I mean. It's either her Dallas Broward Sophie Turner from X. Expend Dark Phoenix twenty seven years later. That's great highlight store here. Maybe and then Wolford said Bill Hater. Those actually happened yeah yeah. I don't know how much they had already envisioned for chapter to win. Two years ago it blew up. They had talked about it. The whole way through one is what it was. They kept saying if we do a two. Let's leave this hook here. Let's leave this here. Let's leave this vague enough here. They knew if the movie was successful while filming part one in sixteen. If this did well we would want to bring the kids back would want to have some flashbacks but we're gonNA focus mostly on the adults and they had vague the ideas but they did never script yeah they knew the parts of the book they had left behind and so that was a lot of material is a big ass book. They could make lots of movies out of what was remaining remaining of that but they didn't have a script. They didn't have a cast again. It wasn't called Chapter One. They shape the experience as total you could just watch that movie the and be done and that was the studio's. Choice Warner Brothers did that the makers want to call it the losers club so that it had a hook there for a second one and and I think the compromise was chapter one at the end credits. I stand by that. I think that movie does work as a standalone if it had bombed and we never got chapter two I think that would still be a satisfying the movie as far as the art goes and I appreciate that I like it when movies tell a story instead of teas another film to come out at some other point I also think I think that there is a lot of ret conning done in the film. We're here to talk about today. Oh yeah they didn't create a first chapter that set up a lot of things they're we're going to do in this film. That's why there's so many flashbacks yeah they had to correct it by bringing the kids back and they did d. h. them with CGI because kids at that age you know two three years later look very different. I noticed height differences. I noticed like some who were shorter than beverly in part one out taller than beverly only in part to but they made the faces look younger yeah. I noticed that at times. They look a little bit plastics. Oh okay that makes sense because they D- aged Regata de age. These teenage kids not only like that but I noticed some of the lip sync work. That ain't his voice. You know your voice changes to three years later. They can't say the lines like they would've in the summer of one thousand nine hundred nine so oh yeah you just get people that kinda sound like them but are not them. Jack Dillon Grazer was the one who looked most distracting to me like for some reason his face just look blake an old man made into a child and but this is expected to be huge based off the first one I mean the first one broke records chapter. Two is breaking a record. It's the Whitest ever released for an R rated film with over forty five hundred screens in the US alone and they were saying hundred ten million two hundred twenty million this weekend. It's already falling short of expectations though it is it made less in preview screenings than the first film. It's estimated now. It's going to make less over the weekend than the first film. What did the first film do. The first film got one hundred thirty five million the first weekend. I guess I didn't see that opening weekend side there. Wasn't the big crowd. I didn't realize I was so big right away. I thought that kind of had a slow burn so it's looking like this will be perhaps second-biggest and they're now readjusting estimates down to ninety ninety million. Maybe as low as eighty million compared to one hundred thirty five million for the sequel. I gotta think some of it is you don't see kids and is not an eighties period piece. The nostalgia culture isn't there to draw in the big audiences. I know when I saw it chapter one opening weekend. Neri empty seat in the house. When I saw this opening night it was about a two thirds full on the APP but a lot of people didn't show up like all the seats around me were Phil on the APP and people just didn't come. I think that's the result of that. AMC stubs premier as you can buy tickets for no money so you reserve seats and like I'm decided not to go interesting house in the same screening as you Arnie for Thursday I max we didn't see each other until after after it was all over with but I did also go back and saw matinee on Friday. There was almost nobody there so I have not had the experience that this is something the masses asses are turning out to but the numbers are saying something different even at one hundred million if that's less than expected. That's an amazing opening. That's huge yeah for an R rated Orville. Matt is amazing and like I said packed when I saw it. I do wonder when the reviews started coming out and I always avoid reuse but you always see headlines in that. There were some concerns turns and I wonder if that scares some people away like they were not buzzing like with chapter one. I didn't hear anything I didn't see any reviews before going in but this movie cost cost twice as much as the first one bigger actors in it so if it makes less this one costs seventy million dollars they had budget built in for de aging kids and they had named named actors who we know and some of whom need to redeem themselves from an earlier x men film this summer and needs a show they still can do good budget built in so they didn't have that crap. Raffia from the TV series and it's also longer they can't screen it as many times in a day because it adds. It feels like another hour. It's not quite that it's more more like forty five minutes but still it's two hours fifty minutes. It's almost three hours. We're talking to vendors level length here well. The first chapter one was also over two two hours but this goes beyond that by at least forty minutes so again for lots of reasons. If you know the book and hold the opinion I do the best stuff.

"The subtext of too young yeah we'll because because the film was being shot so quickly you know like we didn't really have a full script when we started and and Robert Englund was not involved you know he they were going to cast a stumped up lady thing yeah and I say and I always say I wanNA remind like Robert and humble <hes> that if that dumb guy 'cause they got like a guy that was dumb as a boxer off so if he would have been just a little smarter and could have just walked talked with a little something there might not I mean like Freddie might be like Jason Right. There might be six different Freddie's but they didn't WanNa pay Robert Robert a little bit more money to come back for the second one <hes> being cheap as they were so then Jack Shoulder said you can't do this movie without him so then they had to go back and get him and that really costs them and so and then he if you notice in the streets the first one <hes> stars Heather the second one starts me and the third one starts Robert because he moved from with two but this grip wasn't written and then David Taskin who was the writer he started writing his sub textual homosexual opus and nobody noticed because it was being shot out of context like say Jack Shoulder was shooting first and then Joel soissons was shooting the second real and like he shot all of the Joel shot out of the shower stuff with Marshall and I think when it came off of Jack's shoot list he just didn't pay any attention because is he was so overwhelmed yeah so I don't even think he knew what that scene looked like until they started at it and nobody dead end so the the more that David got away with the more he wrote and and you know our documentaries about this but he's you know not the you know the smartest guy on the block probably and what he thinks was very subtle is to our I is like that's you being settled. Do that's not that's not a in fact joke in the middle of the movie is not a subtle thing yeah so <hes> so anyway but we didn't know and then when I did realize I realized in the bar and we were shooting at the detour I think is maybe in Silverlake and <hes> I had done that scene in the rain where I run through <hes> through the the street which I wish they would have me naked I just I go look back and I'm like why didn't they just have me take my clothes off because we had all of the the street was shut down was shooting night for day and it was closed off and the police Sam naked..

It doesn't feel like a post screen what we were talking about urban legend in shit last week. And like in that like post scream are this doesn't feel like it fits into that. At all. They should've had like Michael Douglas in this movie to represent those or movies of disclosure. The one where the rabbits boiled. Draco if you close in this you'll have sex with Glenn Close. But at a great price you'll rabbit his now did. Was that his rapid leaves? Yeah. That's a shame. So yeah, he had all those sexual or. Okay. Robert go sexual their psychos. Yes. And the gag is like she's like, well, you're really upset about Ted Raimi's like, yeah. Yeah. Ted ramey. But that fucking statue. That's kind of a good an angle into plays this perfectly like she's like who Ted Ramey your personal assistant. He's like ES. Yeah. Really beating myself up over that. A real smell of married rich to me. Oh, yeah. England, four Stephen richer, possibly because he's I mean, he's just a professor professor professors. Are last week's movie. No in this one. Not urban. He's not teaching urban legends in this one though. It'd be great. If he was does he teaches a college? Are we talking he's at the same college? The the other lady lady that we're talk about what the statue is. And he knows. Oh, yes. Oh, I forgot about this character. Yeah. I think he married to like a condiment heiress for something and Teresa Heinz this first Barrett before John Kerry was professor tests, and he almost cleaned out. All those creepy old statue dude enough by statue of pre Islamic God from the Persian empire. Listen, terry. We need more statues. I don't know what else to tell you. My favorite scene is right around here. So the Jin is trying to track down who has. Yes, the Jew who awakened him find his masters, so he can get get going on destroying the world. So he goes to this police station. And this is amazing. Like he goes to the police. He finds the detective who is there at the my best friend incident. Yeah. And he's like, yes, I would just need the name and address of sewer witnessed all of this that shouldn't be a problem and the guys like who the fuck are you, and then it's awesome thing with some dude like mouth thing off to cops. And he's like, yes, he that guy over there. I've been looking at put that scumbag away, he always finds a way to skirt the system whatever it is. So you're telling me you'd like to see this guy put away for. And he's like, yeah. That's what I'm saying. And this leads to the biggest freak out like this gin is fucked up man, this guy, this guy starts screaming and he pulls out a gun and takes cops gun. I guess. She shoes all of these cops in this room. And like the detective who's who the Jin is speaking with like gets up to be like, oh my God..

"Yeah, not not a single plot point. You know, like what's the remember anyway? Yeah. What what's the, what cachet does that movie? Have that's gonna make everybody rushing to the eater, does nothing again. You just need an idea. Remember. No didn't do. Well, they just want a concept. It is not very good. Yeah, John lyric. It is really funny in it. If not, for that, it's early. Forgot yet. I don't remember anything about seen it once. You guys shared this on Facebook, the trailer for the new master film came out and that's big, yes, please. I can't wait to see puppet master the littlest rag. Yeah. Apparently it's quite apparently totally bucket nuts. Yeah. Some of the was just basically like this is has some of the grossest most like gory, insane kills that. I've seen in decades bone Tomahawk folks. Yeah. So you know, oh, God. They've been able to think of some fucking crazy. Casey said that the for stuff dovetails into what you've been watching are we were getting into, why not? Oh, are we? Yeah. All right. Well, based on a conversation on Twitter suite, that was. We we're talking. I can't remember who it was. I are low and Carlo, right? Yeah, we're talking about the top three nightmare on elm street movie yet. And I assured that my were which mine are the correct ones. It goes, you know, three one and then Freddie's dead and Carlos saying that his goes three. Three one new nightmare. I think so. And so I was like, he, he like wrote a big article saying like Freddie's dead is dope and doping because it's it's. Along with three eight is the funnest like where nightmare? No one is genuinely scary and and fun and its own way. Yeah, Freddie's dead is it's, it's probably the funniest one. Yeah. And I, I have a big soft spot for Rachel, and she made the ghost in the machine movie, which is a dumb movie, but his directed like fuck and like the hell has been directed of that movie. She really put a lot of work into that. And I know we did tank girl on the show recently and it didn't really hold up, but I've been meaning to watch it again just because I like her general. But yeah, I feel like there's this trend of like. The movies like like when I was growing up watching horror movies, I feel like there's an element of that kind of group think where that movie a lot of people hated it because it was goofy and dumb and silly. And then like now that I'm older and can kind of step away from that, I'm like, but I like it because it's fun. You know, same thing. I found that with Friday, the thirteenth new blood where growing up it was like this or some people really like Manhattan and put like these movies that have have this cult of like, well, that's the, that's the crappiest one in the series. Then you're like, oh, but like actually there's things about it. I like, you know, I don't know. Well, I watched. So I told Carlos like, oh, well, maybe I'll check out new nightmare again. So I had, you know, a couple of hours to. Yeah, I was like, well, shit. I'm gonna do it nice and I did, and I still stand with my original new nightmare because I remember it being great, and I remember being very, like crazy and they kind of like almost a little more bloody than the other and and no, no, they pull every punch. Yeah, it's very tame. It's yeah, it could be PG thirteen. Yeah, it's like it's a good idea. It's pretty good. I'm not. I'm not crazy about new nightmare. I respect new nightmare for doing what is trying to do. Yeah. And but nobody was doing meta shit. No, no, no. It would probably be in my top five or four of the series, but how you don't destroy everybody like, I don't know how you don't, you know, have Freddie like just a visceral Robert England, like just to kind of go like this is. Yeah, you know, instead Robert Englund coast out of town is never heard from again..
