"And now Xfinity presents the camo Sports desk with Mike Ferrari Mariners are hoping to make it two straight over the Angels tonight, Down in Anaheim, Shohei or Toddy. Got the start for the Angels sky can pitch He can hit two tonight He was on display pitching. JP Crawford led off the game for the Mariners, and he smacks a leadoff home run off of Tommy. That's going to put the mirrors up lickety split one. Nothing Just like that. No. Tani would settle down after that, though, to send the Mariners down 123 on strikeouts in the first, He pitched six innings ended up striking out 10. He had a previous in night. It was a two nothing Mariner, leading the third when the Angels do get on the scoreboard. Justin Upton with one on smacks a two run home run off em starter. Robert Dugger. That's going to tie the game at two in the fourth inning. Hector Santiago on a relief for the EMS. He's facing Jose Rojas San Jose takes it all the way out. Angels take the lead 3 to 2. It didn't actually go all the way actually kind of bouncer. I thought it was a double first, and it was a home run. It would be a one run battle the rest of the way. Angels could take the four to lead the seventh. Watch This play. The ball gets away from Tom Murphy will invest. The picture comes running in watch the replay and how best it's gets gets horizontal with the ground. He's going to get the tag in there just a beautiful play. He was out Wolves and Tom Murphy. You know, you never know. Maybe they'll be out there practicing with the Seahawks. One of these days. Well done. It was just going to keep watching. Over and over again. There was still three to Mariners with a big opportunity here in the bases loaded, but tie Francisco strikeout to retire the side and strand three runners. Angels hang on for the three to win tonight. Over the ends College Baseball. Gonzaga facing LSU in the Eugene, Oregon Regional Tonight, third inning, two on for the Zags of one Nothing, Ernie. You get bad, he puts a shot down the right field line that's going to knock in another Gonzaga run that made it two to nothing. There was a one run double for years now. Gonzaga would take a three. Nothing lead. That was fine enough for that guy right there, pitcher Alex Jacob, the big starter. He went the complete game, allowing four hits as Gonzaga, hence else you of baseball power of three note the loss. His eggs faced one seed Oregon tomorrow..

"KOMO news time. 5 36 as we continue on the Como afternoon news, a new report out today showing a spike in teen hospitalizations and that's causing concern and prompting the C D. C to encourage adolescents to get covid vaccines. ABC is Lionel Moise joining us on the common Newsline. Lionel Why don't you break it down for us and tell us about what we're learning about the rate of teens with Covid being hospitalized? And how is this so different from what the CDC saw before? You know, this is an Interesting because the vaccine was approved for use for adolescents or authorize that is after it was for adults. And you know the common, uh, thought or knowledge is that younger Americans weren't being impacted as severely by the virus. Although we did see that there were young people who are getting sick. Dr Rochelle Walensky, the CDC director, putting out a statement today, saying that she is deeply concerned by the number of hospitalized adolescents and saddened to see the number of adolescents who are required treatment in ICUs or mechanical ventilation. And basically, what she's saying is this can be prevented by getting vaccinated, so they did a study and they saw that hospitalizations in adolescence increase from March to April. And also they're stressing that hospitalized kids can get seriously ill, especially if they have an underlying condition. So of those kids who were sick enough to end up in the hospital. A third of them were put in the ICU. One out of three kids. That is a big, big deal and 5% of those kids needed ventilation. Now they are also bringing to light. Some of the disparities that we're seeing. So just like within adults, there are disparities by race and socioeconomic status. And they're basically saying Are these kids hospitalized? Two thirds of them were Hispanic or non Hispanic? Black? No. And 70% of them had an underlying condition. So a lot of the concerns that we were thinking about four adults like having access to the vaccine, and whether or not you have a medical condition it is it is showing that it is hospitalizing kids now, uh and some of them are getting severely ill. And that is a scary thing. Now. One thing to note out of this study the silver lining here. In the study. None of the kids who were hospitalized even those put on the ventilator. None of them died in this study, and I hope that that is just something that remains the case. But again, they are stressing we need to get vaccinated. The vaccines are available for kids in this age group now, and the CDC's is speaking out about it. Are these saying anything about this being related to maybe the returning of some kids to school or the changes when it comes to mask wearing and physical distancing that we've seen around the country Now? That is an interesting point in the CDC do Directors messaging. She did stress the importance of kids in that age group. Not just assuming that you're going to be okay. They still need to be wearing their masks and practicing social distancing, keeping their space away from others who are not vaccinated until they can get their vaccines. So just because a lot of adults are getting vaccinated now, and kids are returning to school, and we're getting a little bit of a feeling of normalcy. The 12 to 17 year old group is still extremely vulnerable because Already of them are not vaccinated yet like adults are and so you know, she's basically saying this is not the time to let your guard down, and it's the time to have a talk with your teens to she's saying most definitely, And so this is important. You know, we've all been in that age. We feel invincible. This is something that no one fully knows All of the answers to scientists are studying this and learning new information each day like the CDC study coming out, but Definitely getting a vaccine can prevent serious illness and and Jeff and you know, I think they're trying to sound the alarm before it is too late. ABC Lionel Moise. Thank you so much, Lionel. "Testing site will now also be administering vaccines, so people who received their first dose they're wondering where to go. There's a place they could go. All other mass vaccination sites in Seattle will close next month. So many have been so eager to get the vaccine that win rules relaxed to allow kids as young as 12 to get it. Many assumed that kids would want it. Almost Brian Calvert hears from a mom who found out otherwise. Heather Flynn is a registered nurse. She's been vaccinated since early on. So has her husband. Her teenage son has had to wait the first day they announced that they were dropping the age. I'm a coffee break at work. I'm calling the pharmacy and I'm booking my kid and I didn't have a discussion with him. I just told my aunt booked a vaccine. You're going to get it. The mom was a little shocked when her son responded. I'm not ready. He felt cornered. Heather pumps the brakes a little in her desire to protect her family. She hadn't considered what her son was thinking or what he was hearing and what he was reading. They're constantly bombarded by a social media and what people say. It has been difficult. And boy did. I just want to grab him and take him? To a vaccine clinic and just sit on. I'm sure but can I do that? No. So we decided as a family. That we had to start. Opening discussion with him, and I guess we had to be empathetic to what he's feeling. She admits. It's a tricky balance, but as badly as she wants her son vaccinated, she truly wants him to take a little ownership in this decision, she tells CBC started looking into what questions he had where he's getting his information. And then I myself and my husband have come forward and looked at Scientific journals. We've reached out to Um Positions that we know his pediatrician. Give us the information to go back and say OK, so you've asked this question. Where? What information have you gotten? Well, here's the information we've gotten. Heather and her family are a few weeks into their conversation. And she says she went public with her story is a reminder to parents of teens everywhere, she says, if you're preparing them to make informed decisions as a young adult Now is the time to allow them to take part in decisions that will impact them personally. Has her son changed his mind about the vaccine? We're not quite there. Yet. He's still saying I'm going to get it, but I just need a little bit of time. So we're stepping back and giving him a little bit of time. Brian Calvert, Come Oni use someone Whose time 1 39. As the pandemic eases, and more people are venturing from their homes. Others are staying put because of underlying conditions comes Patrick Quinn has more for Kristina, lodged in her stage. Four breast cancer is currently at bay. Now she's worried about Cove it I'm scared. I am just so scared. Um Don't you know I'm living day to day already with the CDC relaxing its mass guidance, and many state business is doing the same. I'm afraid to go to Trader Joe's. Now Christina says She can't take any chances were so little known on what the virus could mean for her battle against breast cancer. I mean, I'm only 46 so I would hope that I have a good chance, but I don't know I don't I don't know if that means like I'm doomed. I don't know. The same is true for Ryan Robertson, who's also vaccinated, but as rheumatoid arthritis what flares up most in their hands. Ryan's been begging for answers from their doctor. If they've got the antibodies to defend against Cove it I emailed diligently to get some fax. And all I could get was, Hmm. Good luck. "To it nothing game brewers would run in the third inning with two outs Lorenzo Cain it doubles Corey spans of bird walks in Travis shawl walks so that loads the bases for and I'm Ferentz a one oh swung on and hit a Honda center but playable. Bertie is right there to make the catching Perez Johnson Mr. brewers leave them loaded in the third they had a hit leave three they've straight at six in the first three innings. I was a a big part of this game really for both teams Robert Dugger by the would be done after three innings Brian Moran would come in to pitch in the fourth inning in the fifth the brewers would push across another run Eric stains leads the inning off by being hit by a pitch Lorenzo Cain that then singles so runners on first and second Cory Spangenberg would put down a Buck to move runners to second and third space engine Berg almost beat that thing out at first I likes Vandenberg bunting I like is up when he bonds even if it's a sacrifice it feels like he's bungee for a base hit always a threat surrenders on its second and third Travis shock comes up to the plate he has an RBI groundout and that scores the third run of the day for the brewers to give them a three nothing lead and that would in the day for Brian Moran next pitcher into the game for the Marlins was Tehran Guerrero and he would have finished the inning off so we headed to the bottom of the fifth inning with the brewers holding a three nothing lead but the Marlins will get their first run on the board John Bertie leave the any offer by walking Curtis Granderson then comes up as a pinch hitter he grounds out Bertie moved to second McGill roll ons then it gets a base set and that brings up but Neil Walker the.

"Jeff make meal on the very first page by a kid making his major league debut Robert Dugger hit a bomb of a home run and McNeil continues to be locked in and continues to have this incredible season that could end with him wanting a batting title and now he's been showing the populate heat one JJ in a water in Pittsburgh the other day so he's really show in the muscle as of late and the Mets have one nothing lead on the Marlins in the bottom of the firm and I made this point run around the all star break I took a lot of heat for it as a dominant and as impressive as Pete Alonso was in the first half I actually found Jeff McNeil's first have to be more press and I'll tell you why in these day in age where everybody's hitting home runs from judge to Alonzo to Balaji you name me the guy to see a guy like McNeil be such a wizard with the bat you just don't see that so to get a guy like me being able to have a guy with the Yankees in detail may you who can just do whatever the hell they want they put the bat on the ball they always give you quality a bat I know the Mets fans are going to be you know all board the hype train when it comes to people on somebody should be system but I don't make meals for staff more oppressive and the difference between macmillan Alonso right now on a second wow Alonso has called the MPs can have to make an adjustment I don't know if it's the league catching up to him and throwing a more off speed pitches I don't know if it's the home run derby which I'm sure is the thought in many people's minds I'm not sure if it's in being tired of putting pressure on himself or maybe it's all of that maybe it's a combination of everything but the second half of the year Jeff make meal has kept it going MP Alonso was look like a rookie okay let's sit to Chicago Illinois John joins us with Johnny was going on eight so wanted to throw an idea out there so you know I don't question the Yankees our approach to you know bring it because Fraser ought we got more out of salt when they'll be bought I mean they have jobs the radium high lease turn things around I love may even in the the clubhouse but here is the underlying issue that would no one's really quite addressed yet if I'm rob Manfred I gotta be upset that a young guy like Clint Frazier is getting buried in the minors now is not the Yankees fall but the Indians never brought a mock the guy's a Major League Baseball player and in this day and age in baseball were struggling to advertising get the youth involved with plays again I'm excited you got a guy with red hair I would go on and on about how you average by the market is god but my day is why not introduce an idea we can resolve that by like allows use of loan out players and what I mean Hey now Yang that's the way it goes you don't want don't take him can I have them talking about the many injury that could slip could Frasier into right field make meals at second base what do I have to give the Yankees all straw mats in that you want to loan me Lugo to make a bold but not much better well let's face it one of these frustrating situations we all know offensively speaking he's good enough to be a big leaguer but the Yankees don't like is the fence they don't like his attitude that's been well documented here's the problem so listen he's going to have to deal with it and probably the end of the day haven't you could be wearing a different uniform one ticket some point time I think that's almost inevitable here's the reason why you've got nothing if your clean Frasier's agent or if your rob man Fred or whomever the answer Brian Cashman can have to you is seventy two and thirty nine that is an answer seventy two with thirty nine okay we're winning we're winning with this we're winning with that if the Detroit Tigers at thirty two in seventy five at a guy like Clint Frazier it's a completely different story Rick's in Tampa Hey Rick rank Hey guys what's up how are you brother Nick by buy a Yankee comet JJ you know I I had to bring ID get chance during the week get through about loosened but accounting one of our one of our old warriors from the old days of the dolphins very sad tale and obviously if you watch that HBO documentary that came out about a year ago you know put in not you still makes again even always before my time I know the significance than a cat to the dolphin organization cell command a no doubt yeah that but well what we'll see how they do this year Hey real quick after I I'm going to be the first one to throw this out for you Evan and it's for me as the expanded out this subway series that could come up this year now with your this is because what the Yankees yeah I was scared about the this this injuries that's I was worried especially last night the Marcela go down twice that was something wasn't it I mean to see and then get up they get hit again and then but here in dormitories is actually playing tonight which I think it's amazing so I I'm I'm still concerned about their injuries a little bit but it paid your maps get it but you know search tool way to go and listen but the point is two months of baseball point you got a wild card game away Dodgers Rick the man they call the Mrs promptly Jake the big ace promptly gave back a one nothing lead against the Marlins a runner on second nobody out and you're telling me about a subway World Series the Mets have to be the free give Marlins in the first game of a doubleheader with Jacob the grime facing a kid making his major league debut and as I'm watching the Marlins rally your tell me about a subway World Series are you are you insane by the way on a sad note cliff branch the great wide receiver he passed away over the weekend great player in the seventies with the Oakland Raiders and how about this one don banks who is only for the AC was illustrated yeah I think he just took a job in Vegas for the biggest journal covering the raiders right yeah and he passed away shockingly in his late fifties so the the football world lost a couple of good people over the last couple days very said the here let's go to Paul in Jersey what's up Paul Paul a they love the show where are you I got a couple just two quick stat things that I wanted to throw them in number one over the past month travelstar knows been the best offers that you're in a major sex if you want to tell me that back in April you would outlast off the phone and it just goes to show you with certain guys in sort organizations they just have that magic the Houston Astros have it when it comes to pitching department and if you look at the Tampa Bay rays and the way Tommy fan and now Travis d'arnaud they go there to get a new lease can I say this he was they messed up was just a mess right so yeah I think it's probably there's there's no pressure on anybody to have a regular nobody watching the games anyway there's another one for you Greg Greg Maddux sees twenty thousand four hundred and forty one batters during his career and only three hundred and ten Fabriano count a hundred and seventy seven of those were intentional walks it's not a surprise me Greg Maddux was a magician and even though we spent a a big part of his career in the same division as a team I root for he was a Marvel to watch Greg Maddux it was an absolute how complete game you know they were talking about it with Steven that's when he shut down the pirates couple weeks ago they pulled the Matix yes well because you remember Greg Maddux going out and have a complete game very pro like eighty five or ninety pitches had won against the Yankees I want to say it was an afternoon game in like nineteen ninety seven were was just like a you can he was so different the way he dominated as compared to Randy Johnson Pedro Martinez the other dominating pictures of that era and in many ways you talk about to make me Alonso comparison I personally enjoyed watching Greg Maddux the most I thought it was like artwork take you're watching an artist as he was able to mold people down but most people down in a very different way than Pedro Martinez did it is far as don't always concerned here's why I can't be you know screaming and yelling devastated about the whole thing it was time it was it was time and you know it's like when the Mets got rid of angel punk on and he had success with the San Francisco Giants I said the same thing it was over it was time I get annoyed when it's not tight like Murphy like Murphy Justin Turner guys like that that's what I get annoyed but to be fair I think we all said it was time we try to start now and Wilson Rameau's has been very good offense really the biggest problem Wilson Rommel's has is his defense and I watched a lot a raise I know you watch the lotteries but I haven't watched enough to be able to definitively tell you that darn always been great defensively I can't make that state I can't say that I've also seen play little first pacing T. eight when I sing it and star base for that now all believable versatility all the sun eight seven seven three three seven sixty six sixty six let's head to New Jersey Sam joins us with a semi Hey buddy pleasant about three four weeks ago I was in the store your and Eddie AT shirt on and this lady just starts talking to me about baseball instead she was a Mets fan all you've got your your your team is so good I said well look I said the Mets have the talent to be fighting for a playoff spot each year so don't be surprised your mind if we would have had that conversation Sam I would look to you like at three heads a month ago have been probably would have to say I should they could look anywhere and I'll also record about the Yankees this is the most amazing season I ever at the eighty eight hat and I mean come on seven nineteen ninety eight was a pretty amazing it's before my time but nineteen seventy eight was pretty amazing I get your point to different kind of amazing injuries in the way the Yankees have been able to overcome the injuries but I mean and I go back to nineteen ninety eight watch an act to imply you expected them to win every single night I mean they clinched the division basically what I was going back to school first the Clinton early there was a game I always bring this up because for some reason this is what I remember specifically about ninety eight percent the subway series games game against the Oakland eighties and Darryl strawberry grand slam the tie the game and that was that there was a holy these guys never lose even when you accept the loss because it happens it's baseball they will never ever given but the ninety eight Yankee team is very different that's a great all time team for my money it's the greatest baseball team of ever seen we'll never see anything like it again yeah I don't think so even though the red Sox did one hundred eight games last year we did see the mariners won a hundred and sixteen the difference though the marriage go out one hundred sixteen a losing five in the ALCS the Yankees it was the red Sox are able to move through the playoffs the way they did a year ago this is been a unique type of amazing how is this team the two thousand nine Yankees let alone the nineteen ninety eight Yankees now but is unique with how they've overcome so many injuries and they could still put off their second consecutive one hundred plus win season which is it's a pre really is remarkable when you think about all the different guys they've lost over the last couple of months and they continue to lose just when you think okay told I know more entries there finally healthy they lose fifteen other guy no problem was like far more before the end of that kind of year more your calls coming up plus Pedro Martinez made a very sad excuse for the two thousand nine Phillies we should talk about putting on Robert here in the mid that no we we I'm sorry for money for with the CBS sports minute the American League east is becoming a two horse race after the Boston Red Sox lost their eight game in a row including being swept by the rival New York Yankees over the weekend as easy as it seemed for manager Alan score last season winning a hundred make games and bring in the World Series title back to Boston he is facing a serious hang over this year mostly he's been let down by starting rotation for sale started the season at a fork in a sporadic and David price who finally shook his postseason failures seems distracted part of that is because he just welcome the second child on Thursday was put on paternity leave future called on Sunday to close out the Yankee series and was chased after two one two thirds giving up seven runs the chance of who's your Daddy that's cold blooded but the way he's been only Yankee Stadium it was fitting terrible actually but not as bad as the red Sox have been so far this.

Jeff Robert Dugger McNeil Pittsburgh Marlins Mets ninety eight percent three four weeks two months
