"Yeah. And it also references Tammy Wynette's 1975 hit single. Stand by your man. You know? So you stand by your man. I'm something understand. That drum beat in the beginning is considered iconic. And it's really simple. Garbage, stupid girl, has almost the same, if you listen to stupid girl and you listen to Butch vig, right? Drummer. Yeah. And you listen to standby, train and vein, they're almost almost identical. Yeah. It always catches me like I have to hurry the first two or three hits. And I know which song it is. Yeah. But I wonder if that was planned. Wouldn't be surprised. Yeah, like Shirley Manson, one of the songs, I can't think of the name offhand. So you mentioned, at the end, she says, you're the talk of the town, which was kind of an ode to Chrissy Heinz. Right. So yeah. Favorite song for the pretenders, my favorite. What's that? Yeah. I added that to my Spotify playlist that I haven't sent you yet, but did you write secret separation by the fix? I did. You did. I actually did yes. I did it, I did it that night as a matter of fact. So let's see. Let me bring out a couple of facts on because train and vein actually has a lot behind it. Says, Nick Jones sang lead vocals on the song, the lyrics appeared a reference the end of his on off relationship with viv albertine, which he also explored in London calling track. I'm not down. Training vein also contains a pointed reference to his flat, his apartment being burglarized in 79, due to his feelings of depression, quote, I need new clothes, I need somewhere to stay. Let me see, this was the first top 40 hit. They only had one more top 40 hit. Which one was it? What song was it? Iraqi Tesla. Yeah. In 1982. For a band that is lost. Not in America. The train of vein actually broke them. It was like, that's what broke them into America. The one song, the last song that they throw in. Right, right. What's that look? What? It's a sinking, should I stay or should I go to me? I heard it on the radio so much. I thought that would have been a top 40 single, but I guess it was just classic rock that radio, that kind of got a hold of it. Yeah, according to this, it says, this was the first U.S. top 40 hit. They only had one more rock the caswell. But I would have thought, should I stay, should I go? At least in the top 40. This could be wrong, could be wrong. Yes, you have been questioned on your information in the past. Yes, I have. And there's nothing wrong with that. Nothing wrong with that. Let me see. Wait, I'll Google it. Yeah, yeah. It says the song became a firm live favorite for the band, introduced to their live set in December 79 and played consistently until Mick Jones was fired, fired. In 1983, now that's a point of contention, right? How do you fire a partner? It was Joan strummer. You know, some are saying most of the leads, but most of those songs were co written. You know, is that management? It got really big, really fast. They kind of, you know, that combat rock album was a big step forward. Some bands will just break them up. Yeah. Competition to get your songs, your voice, 'cause, you know, Mick was gone more in one direction. A burning up. They were burning hot. They had songs to spare. Yeah. I mean, double triple album. I mean, come on, man. And good albums, you know, you can put a lot of shit on a triple album. After all, they are the only band that matters. The only thing that matters. Even like Robert Chris gal, he's like, he goes on stuff the dean of American rock critics. He was good to them, even when anything like a dick kind of way, but he could be savage, but even said he goes, you know, he goes, I guess they are the greatest rock and roll band of the world. You know, even when he was kind of putting them down, he was praising them for their innovation originality and just plain spirit. So for a guy like that, you know, he's really, he's a critic, but he's really critical for him to basically lie them the way they were. You know, there was a big build up to them. They had to live up to that name that they developed. Yeah, they hear they got the name clash because one of them, I think it was Paul Simon and just kept reading in the newspapers a clash clash clash. Everything was a class. It's a class. That's how they got their name. The class. Great. But getting back to train in vain, the song became a firm live favorite. So you'd say, let me see. Live performances. February 1980 show and Lewiston, that's the video, the video came from that performance, filmed by Don letts and featuring the amusement, an amusing introduction from Joe Strowman. Who says, quote, we'd like to take the soul train from platform one. And if you don't want to come, there's always the toilet. It's really me. By that. See the soul train of the toilet. Right. So you'd think that rock the kasbah, and should I say should I go would be the most covered songs by the clash, right? I don't know. They're the most part. Usually the more popular song. Gets covered, right? I'll take a stab at the most covered song is. London calling? Nope. Oh, okay. Nope. Lou? Should I stay or should I go? No, train of vein? Really? Dwight Yoakam did a great version of that. So there you go. Train of veins. The only good song on that album Mark. Come on. I wasn't kind of at record. Come on. That's all right. What was the one he butchered? My favorite version of that song. We're talking about Dwight yoga. I'm of covers. Okay. To lose going to step out of his picture and step into my room and punch me and go back into his picture. That would be a feat. So training vein cover versions were done by third eye blind. Doctor Hayes and DJ XL, the jets, Dwight Yoakam, Annie Lennox, the manic street preachers, Jones crusher and the late great Christy McCall. Wow. Yeah. Yeah. Chrissy hind from the pretenders was on the scene when the band recorded the song at Wessex studios. Mick Jones explained that Daniel Rachel from out of noise conversation with great songwriters. It wasn't about Chrissy hind, but she was upstairs and there was a window from the pool room where she could look in. And he was actually singing to her while he was recording it. Oh, wow. Serenading her. Pretty cool, pretty cool. And let me see the last kind of fact on this song. This R&B flavored tune introduced the clash to a new audience. Quote, we couldn't believe how popular it became, especially in America, Nick Jones said, that broke us in America. They thought it was a regular R&B song, then they found out it was the clash.

"Chris says, I wonder if the Canadian backed incentives for tech is going to disappear in the near future was a good reason to do biz up north. I mean, Chris, they have been around for decades now. Those tax credits and I seriously doubt I haven't heard anything through think they're going to go away, but I'd be pretty surprised if they did go away. This is a big part of the economy, especially in Quebec, where most of these studios are located. To attract creative development. Robert says, hello. Hello, Robert Chris says. Marvel versus Capcom didn't make much money either and they have a huge fan base. Those licensing costs will kill you if you're not LEGO. And yeah, it's one of these things where even with good IP, you can still make a bad game. I mean, that's just the reality. And almost all these games are not really good games. Have any of you guys played The Avengers game? Really pretty bad. Pretty awful. Very limited to what you can do there. I played it for a little bit. I haven't had a good Tomb Raider game that I can recall either because my thought is if I want to go to that action adventure kind of puzzle genre, I think, uncharted instantly, right? So Tomb Raider used to have, I thought that top spot but fell off in the last 5 years absent when reference to. Even then, it's sort of like it's a genre. It's a genre that's not hot anymore. They haven't made a movie in at least what, ten years? And the reality is the appeal of Lara Croft, I guarantee you if we pulled 12 year olds today, they probably don't even know who the character is. A little bit of it's an IP that did not. Transfer wealth has not aged well in my mind. NASA says hello, hello, Nessa. Welcome. Chris says will be interesting to see how Wolverine does with naughty dog producing it. Yeah, I mean, Chris, and I'm curious what all of you guys think in chat, but I think we have to disconnect IP from the studio and from the resulting game, right? These are all three independent variables, and the resulting game is not necessarily a product of any of them. Meaning a great studio with great IP isn't guaranteed to produce a great game. There's no direct causality in my mind. There is probably correlation at least a great studio has a better chance of it. True. Hardware barbecue says, hey, doctor barbecue. Welcome. Guys, I want to talk about a little bit of a related story, and I was going to keep this for the lightning round. But I think I want to just put it here because it makes sense here. And this is an article that could be maybe very controversial, may have may have nothing to say. But this is Joseph farris who in an interview basically said he doesn't think games need to be fun to succeed. And my frustration with this interview in this article, frankly, you know, he gives examples of games that the mechanics and the interactivity is the key to the experience and he gives examples, but I feel like he does not really say anything like doesn't provide an alternative solution other than the fact that he says games don't need to be fun to be successful. And so I'm curious, you think he's totally off and maybe in the context of the other story, right? Where does this factor in for you? He's totally wrong. He's totally right. And what is the alternative argument if you believe he's right? How do we measure success or predict success? Lindsey, I don't know if you have any thoughts. No, I'm trying to think about this because this is the total antithesis of what we usually talk about. I'm trying to think of any parallel industry and I guess you could say that there's some parallels between the movie industry in that a lot of the movies that have been successful over the past years have not necessarily been that original or that interesting. A lot of them have been kind of big budget turn films. And there is a point to be made about, I don't know, repackaging very similar IPs and just sort of getting people to spend their money on the same game in a different format. I don't know, this isn't very exciting to read, you know? It's very like soulless. And even it's amazing that even the prophet who is all about making the prophet is like this is to the list. Compared to your usual argument of games should be fun. Because he's wrong, he's just, he's wrong, right? And this is someone who has made very successful games, right? It takes two, one, a bunch of awards. I think did quite well. But he's just wrong. And the problem in my mind is he didn't provide an alternative explanation. Okay, if it's not about being fun, what is it? And he tiptoes around it. That's what I kind of didn't get either. Like, are you just making games that make money then? I would assume that that's the alternative. But then I wondered. Knowing Joseph farris background and I feel like he's been like a little bit of an iconoclast. He's like one of these art tours. I wonder if this is maybe like we're not getting the full context here, because when I first saw the headline, I was like, this guy, they're talking about blockchain, right? And we've always all been like, hey, the games have to be fun. I think we don't need to litigate that. We agree. I wonder if maybe he means like game doesn't have to be uplifting and fun. It could be like, hey, this is an experience of like, you're in like a horror game and it's like you love the story where it's like the mechanics themselves aren't fun, but you're just being taken into a very deep narrative driven story and it's like the experience itself rewarding, but it's not like minute, the minute fought. And obviously I have no idea if that's what he means, but maybe there's some context that we're missing here. It's a great point because he does use the example of like feeling a loss in a game. Yeah. But this is really that down to semantics then and the headline then is total clickbait. Totally misleading. And just bad overall. If that's the case, if it's just a subtlety of language and fun equating to just pure joy as opposed to, you know, something like watching a sad movie might not be like fun route but you're like, oh, okay. But you finished the side moving and you go, that was a fun way to spend my two hours, right? Like if you really like the movie. It's like semantics of language. Jimmy I don't know if you had any thoughts here. Literally the one thing they need to be is fun. And that's why they're called aims. Not a lot to add, so I think we're all on the same chair. I just want to get caught up on commentary. Kris says, Dragon Ball sure helped art systems. Yeah, I mean, like I said, good IP can. There was no question, but it's not a guarantee. Owen says, hey guys, hope everyone is well, great panel at pax by the way, Owen, thank.

"It's not dancing Queen anymore. It's dancing and apostrophe queen. There's nothing anyone can stop. I mean like Mamma Mia! or the Mamma Mia! movies and the musical, that is rose wave the movie, right? That is the anti Super Bowl. It's nothing. When I saw that in the theater, it was queers. It was women. It was so empowering. It's just a lot of very silly fun. So that is their enduring legacy. Is just this smile you get on your face whenever you hear any song even really sad slow ones. Exactly. I would say a big part of it for me personally and the other people my age that I know love ABBA as much as I do is Mamma Mia!. It was such a moment when the second movie came out, Mamma Mia! here we go again. It was the sequel. We were all waiting for with bated breath. I thought there was no way that they could make a better movie than the first one. I was wrong. Oh my God. It's the same amount of camp, I would say as the first one with just a much larger budget and as much as it did fill my heart with so much warmth, all of the moments that the songs wanted you to like really feel something deeply emotional, that I did. Something about the music is that it's all so deeply emotional and so invoking of joy or laughter or just complete utter sadness or so the final scene of Mamma Mia! here we go again is a baptism of both Sophie and Donna and their respective children, getting baptized and they're in the same church. They're singing, I'll be waiting for you. And I saw that movie with my mom in theaters the day that it came out. And we sobbed for 20 minutes after the movie. And there's no way that scene would have been as nearly emotional without that specific ABBA song and I would put their whole lives into that. Let me tell you, I just, I lived for it. Those movies just do the music so much justice. And I appreciate that so much. I would also say another really big part of it is that ABBA is kind of currently aware of their audience and they're really meeting people where they're at. When people on TikTok started making remixes of Abe's songs or started singing ABBA songs like ABBA is so responsive on that platform specifically, and they kind of knew even before they joined the platform that they had an audience on there, and they really were able to capitalize on that. I think they have a few million TikTok followers now. And I'm willing to bet it's mostly people my age or younger. Yeah, it's probably not people my age. Yeah, I mean, when you talk about ABBA's musical legacy, this is gonna rankle any of the raucous that Glenn was talking about earlier. The Robert Chris callas of the world. But in a way, ABBA, I feel like is on a continuum that goes back to The Beach Boys. And The Beach Boys were making pop music, but they were making Technicolor pop music. They were making pop music using every part of the mixing board, you know? Just like a million little precise components that are adding up to something that somehow sounds effortless, even though it is literally the farthest possible thing from effortless. That, to me, is the legacy. They are a really a part of the pop music continuum as like something that is the result of incredible hard work and craft. And I think they're very, very important in that way. Now, the peg for us to have this conversation was that ABBA has put out a new album. Voyage is Abby's first album in 40 years as I have already mentioned. What do you guys think of the new album? To be honest, I thought it was fine. I thought a lot of the sounds were really evocative of the music that they released 40 years ago. But to be honest, there weren't as many bangers as I was hoping. That's what I was really counting on. So when they released, don't shut me down. That was immediately like my favorite of the two singles that they released of that and I still have faith in you. It sounds classically ABBA. I just wish there was a little bit more on fit in there, you know? Sure. Yeah, I agree. It is kind of ballad heavy and most of these songs start pretty slow. So we had some folks over at me, were like, let's do it. New ABBA. And song would start and we were all looking at each other like we were going to start popping. And you know, the first song on the album I still have faith in you is has some pretty strong carpenters vibes, which makes sense, I guess, but there is an ode to shared custody on this album called keep an eye on Dan. There is a ballad about the disappearance of the bumblebees called bumblebee, so you know, their concerns have changed. I think it's safe to say. But.

"Was probably still be driven. Shirley tip they'll be drinking shirley temples you know you know all right so talk about college years and things like that. I mean you did not go to ole miss. I did not go to like the rest of your family right so if you speak to my other five excuse me. Four siblings they will. They will not be happy about that. Mean we're all aperture the one. I'm interviewing right exactly exactly but no i went to nyu and you know my father. Sadly tragically unexpectedly passed. When i was thirteen years old and in my mother. Well you know there was. There was circumstance that allowed me to kind of consider other colleges. And i decided to go to nyu because you know. I listened to a lot of records. Yeah i listened to watched a lot of movies. I read a lot of books through high school. And all the ones i really love the most were all kind of had involved with new york. We're involved with new york in one way or another and you talk about. I know you're a fan of lou reed and right you know me and hammer type you know. Yeah you guys go back and do said it was. One of the album's that i smashed now. I wouldn't say that i would never say that. I got rid of some albums. But one of yeah. I gave it to somebody right. You passed in. Yeah past. But no i went to nyu and it was I went to. I went to new york city at eighteen years old and it was A kind of a gutsy decision on my part but it was the one place i knew i needed to go. Actually didn't apply to any other schools. Yeah i only applied them why you it was like i didn't know that. Yeah no and now that. I think about it i now. I know how young people like prepare for college and everything it was it was it was actually kinda stupid on my part but it was just like i was like okay. I'm when i am either going to go to y you or i'm not gonna go and i'll figure out how i'll go somewhere else. It was like new york. City was where i needed to be. So you'd never visited new york. We went twice. I went all when i was a junior high school. I went with my mom. Okay and it was just being this when she was working with merrill lynch i remember that yeah okay So eighteen years old. You go to new york city and We're living in a dorm or dorm dorm. What's nyu like where. What part of town is it in his right in the middle of greenwich village. I mean is it so it's way down. Yeah yeah right in the middle of the greenwich village washington square park basically the campus washington square park. It's got an arch in an orange kind of a little mini are kind of looking thing. Yes i've been down there. Yeah so did you know what you wanted to study. originally wanted to study film. Okay and i. Didn't you know like when i got there. Most of the people there had been kind of making movies since they were a like. It was kind of like the harvard of film schools. And i was just like hey i think i'm just gonna do some film and then when i got there like I was like i don't. I don't think i compete with can compete with these people. So i ended up going to a small kind of little liberal arts program within the university. Yeah and did that for two years. And then i slowly kind of started doing. I took a couple of film courses. But i was just i was just too. I just wasn't. I was really green. I wasn't very self confident. I was your freshman. Well right you know. And i was in the middle of new york city. It was just all incredibly intimidating so a Anyway but we're asking for that. I mean you kind of wanted that intimidated by that. Well yeah yeah but i. I was intimidated. But i was like. This is exactly where. I wanna be so you know anyway. I just started. I took a couple of music studies courses and some creative writing courses. And then i took a course by this guy named robert chris gow who was the senior rock critic for the village voice and i did really well in his class and then when i graduated he set me up with an internship village voice. And that's when i started doing like writing about music so when you were there that would have been in the eighties. No i'm kind of trying to replace everything though. It was eighty nine. When i got okay. So the movie the movie down by law yes already come out. Yes and That was a gentleman. Jim jarmusch and Tom com weight. And the the. What's that guy would say. He was in beautiful. Yes italian yeah and then the tall guy. The lounge lizards guy john. Laurie yeah now. I was in houston when that movie came out. And i'd been going to new orleans on business and that movie. I had an experience with that movement. It was because it showed these little shack like places on some road in the town that i normally didn't take was usually coming in on. I attend that might have been some other road. That was by the swamps and stuff did people sort of say wow. Did you know about that movie or i mean. Was that kind of thing that they associated or head to even seen it down by law. Yeah down by down by law was definitely kind of You know it was. It was a kind of one of the hip things it was like. You know the epitome of like underground cinema and cool and everything and asking whether i'm just trying to. I'm not sure what i'm asking. Are you wondering where people like. Look because it's it was filmed in louisiana. That's right and did they associate you with the film or did you think that they think that was cool. That you're from new orleans. Oh no no i mean. They thought i was called from new orleans. But the thing that like i found was real. It was very surprising to me was that i was called that i was considered a southerner when i went to nyu. I mean you kind of ara. I know i know. But like i didn't. I mean you know you grow up in new orleans. You don't necessarily think. Think of yourself. In a redneck. Or or is it a redneck or even in the south. Like i mean orleans kind of it's different this other world but also as you grow up in the south you're not really aware of yourself as a southerner true just kind of in this place and then i would. I went to new york. And i said i didn't understand. I didn't know that like saying y'all yeah. Was this different thing. I thought it was just like that's just the way we spoke and everybody was like every time i said y'all y'all y'all and they all thought i walked really slow and then what a bunch of idiots. Yeah isn't that stupid. Yeah i went. I went to school in baltimore. Same thing really. The way address talked all of it and it was startling especially when you're younger you know when you're in that year old eighteen year old you don't you know it it it. I completely agree. I know exactly what you so you know. The fact is basically what you did. Was you left the south for good. I mean it's like you're gonna find this career for yourself in new york. Despite.

"Know what does not true. But i kind of wish it were now. We're all out of pernell following you license plates bellamy's all right so we're doing this week. We're doing martial arts in video games. Necessarily martial arts video games. Mainly because carlos is his other podcast is all about martial arts movies. Is that right. Yeah we talk about asian cinema with a definite lean on hong kong cinema kung fu movies. A lot of this stuff. Recently we did do a block of chombo films withdrawal samurai cinema and that was super fun and i found a ton of movies that i love because of it. But yeah we're we're kind of all over the place but it's it's usually got some roundhouse kicks in. It's also one thing act. Like i should point out because the first thing that comes to mind i think when the topic of kung fu movies came along and now i do like kick boxing exercise stuff. So i'm not really in the ring. I still have all my teeth but i do punches and kicks and i asked have decent stains nowadays however do kung fu movies still always make those som- though sound effects of impactful punches and like i feel like yeah in in the modern era it's not as prominent as it used to be but there's still definitely i mean of course any movie has fully work in. You're still gonna wanna hear the hits. The sound really sells the action as well like back in the seventies. You know you'd have like a huge paper fan slamming on wall or they'd have like a huge blanket and they're just shaking a blanket so you hear their close moving. That's on the movies but when you try to translate to real life big kills everything like oh yes bag. You like throwing punches. You start doing that thing. Where you whistle. The you want this to move like they sound in the films like i want my best to whistle. I'll sit behind you with like a whole big thing of salary so that when you punch like the punching bag i guess someone's back now okay. So here's here's here's one. Here's a high school robbie deep cut story and then we'll get into some music because i as dredged up something from the depths robert chris right yes okay so we were. We were like. We were really close in highschool like we would get in trouble all the time as we make each other laugh too much and for math class. We had to do these big projects. It was geometry or something and we had to make this big project related to different theorems or either like a cartoon or a poster so bagheri and theorem or yeah like triangles and stuff like that and so we decided to female solemn youth. It's yeah it's all. Yeah that's got a lot of sides to it and veto equals. He told equals giant white shoes. And then so so. We were really intimate science theater and really into jackie chan movies and stuff like that so we got We got a kung fu movie. Vhs it was called taichi fists of death. Or maybe a little touchy rona. Where your sequel your and so we did was. We got video camera a tape recorders. Put it in front of the tv. And we turn the sound off. And then me and. Chris broke a script and we really as the guys were fighting off. You cannot defeats me. Try and go has three sides and the two sides of must be opposite of star. We went on for way too long and got an a on. It got an and i never heard there were still he was. She was still showing it for like the next. Like five or six years really. Oh that's awesome senior senior year in the in the yearbook. We had like a quote where it's like everybody or like. I can't believe i ate the whole thing so my entire if he can find this. You have to figure out what high school i went to but i spend my entire senior binary that's awesome. I left it in there and yeah it's the next year i heard that The teacher was was making that like part of like the extra credit yet. Decode my message. That was really getting. He's in front of class for the class and then they decoded it and they realized that said i hate everyone know. That's high school in highschool broke people. It wasn't me it wasn't terrible. I'm happy to be where i'm at today. I'm happy to be out of high school to the high school so looking exploited looking back on something a little bit more interesting. I hate everyone. But i loved celery sticks. I don't know like just Robocop quote or something. But like i'll be back because i hate something was like so definitive like you know what you thought i liked you. It's like some zodiac killer. So little worried about that as like. So you're the guy who hated everybody. What are you doing. Well i promote a tiffany on video game know so we had our our our anniversary of the. What's it called reunion twenty year high school reunion and yeah. No-one acted like i was weird. So i mean. I didn't know anybody because i didn't really talk to anybody. Because they didn't put the time into decode quote zero one's guy man before we get kicked on the show any further. I got two shots. I'm going to give to first of all. Want to give a huge shout out to our listener mica bussan. I think it's how you say your last name He's out there. He's an animation. Wizard check him out. No, I definitely would like to have that is part of the portfolio and I do not. And I wish I did. It's a good point. We'll have a conversation with Chris Mannix momentarily. At the All Star game Coming up. We talked about that The Nets have run into kind of a tough stretch. But then again, who cares? I don't mean who cares like Who cares? I mean, who cares if the regular season doesn't matter that much? They've got time to get right? We're joined by a senior writer for S I in MBA analyst for NBC Sports. Boston, A boxing analyst for his own hosted the crossover MBA show Podcast host of the S I boxing podcast with Chris Mannix. He is a very good friend of the program. Chris, my man. What's up? How are you? What's going on? Jim? Dude, it is so good. It's AKI across first things first. And she When I last spoke, you actually went to an NBA game For the first time this season, I got asked. What was that experience like? How weird was that for you? It was strange. Itwas the first game that I went to all season and I would imagine probably the last, um You know, people don't really care how sports writers do their jobs or journalists do their jobs, but You know, most of the reason for going to games has nothing to do with the game itself. It's going prior to a game and, you know, you know, sitting on the floor and chatting up coaches from either side, you know, getting face time with players that If you just, you know, bump this with them. You wanna, You know, want them to see you being there And then after games kind of hang in the hallway and, you know, see what you could pick up for people that are Walk into their cars and walk to the bus or what have you because of all the health and safety protocols that's completely eliminated. You A twist in Boston. You sit behind, you know an inch of plexiglass. You get there in time for the for the game. You leave right After would you have no interaction with players whatsoever? Even if you're there, you still have to conduct Postgame interviews be assumed just whole thing was different. And it really took any kind of productivity out of going to games. Right? That makes sense. So you did it. You saw what it was like You saw what it felt like, But if you can't interact with people you need interact with why do it. Chris Mannix is joining us. You know, then you get this weird situation Chris surrounding the NBA All Star game. You've got a number of big time players. They have been very public about the fact that they don't like the idea at all. What's been your reaction to the reaction from guys like LeBron dear and Fox, Johannes and more. Well, it surprised first and foremost, because over the last month and a half, the MBA has been carefully negotiating the possibility of an All Star game with the union they have had. Many conversations with Michele Roberts. Chris Paul has been involved in this process, other high ranking union members and you would have thought that Those union officials and high ranking union players would have, you know, had a conversation with if not the rank and file the high profile players. In this league. And even if you want to whittle down the list of high profile players to one, you would have think that they've become the same page with LeBron James. Because as we've seen with player reaction, as goes, LeBron As goes the rest of league and LeBron's reaction league was immediately kind of picked up on by many other players like Yonas Campbell Walker's name a couple and they fall in line with LeBron's viewpoints. So it didn't surprise me that There.

"I do like isn't i love this song. It's magic magical. I mean it's so poppy so amazing. Just this was the cars moved onto. They had a different producer for for this album. This was the album heartbeat city originally. It was roy. Thomas baker rock producer. Did some great stuff but they moved to robert mutt lang of def leppard and shania twain and knows how to write. Pop hits or produce. Those saw that you know this this war this great sound and the cars took huge advantage of that. There were like four. They had from heartbeat city. Of course there was As you might think when up to number seven hello again was number twenty. And they're big hits drive. Hit number three. Get out and do you remember the video for the song. Yeah i saw the video where there. He's like jesus since in there. And there's all these freaks that look like they're straight out of the eighty s just trying to touch. They're all dressed up in. I don't know some are costumes. But it's all you could look at this video and just look at these extras and think. Oh my god. This is again super eighties so good and it should be you know where it was. Shot the video. The echoes a party scene but funding eleven but his genome reshot was shot. It was shot at the hill estate for hotel. The hilton estate families. Home the family's home. Oh the actual hilton so so like a baby. Paris hilton was there in. It's fair and eighty four born yet. She may have been She is not in it. So yeah was it. Conrad conrad hilton. That was the dad. Yeah and do you know who directed this video. I'll me put can poke to broke. And we know tim pope from well. We know tim pope because he directed less videos in the eighties but mostly because he directed thirty seven videos for the cure. Yes which is a significant. I mentioned robert lang robert mutt lang. Who's associated really with def leppard. He almost didn't produce hysteria because he had a commitment to the car. So he told def leppard they couldn't work on hysteria. But due to delays in the album's recording laying was eventually able to produce it and they lived happily ever after lucky for everyone including us. If you like the elvis. Gary which i do. Yes that's crazy the thing like. Oh my god. That's that might not. It might have been a completely different story for developer. Also i should say because i think in the last pop culture episode you kind of pooh poohing on one thousand nine hundred four. There was the the critic robert chris. Cow i'm sure you're familiar with them. Eight no that The glossy approached. The cars invented has made this the best year for pure pop and damn near twenty years. And it's only fair that they should return so confidently to form so robert crisco agrees in nineteen eighty-four is the greatest year ever for music. L. is speaking specifically about pop music and not necessary. The alternative genre alternative was good to go to that. Don't give me started that we already get into. Yeah so the cars. Magic was magical yet. So let's see the magic. Is this on. The k rock list of this song is not on the list. I am sorry..
