"The fire metaphorically. A dealing here in the South Land. Let's start with this. Like Joe Biden promised it's a hard winner. Santa Ana winds will return to the South land many parts of the South land in the next few days peeking on Tuesday. And dig if you will this picture up, Gus reaching 75 MPH by Tuesday. I can't wait. Gus were as high as 50 miles an hour Sunday in the mountains. And the Santa Clarita Valley up to 45 MPH per hour in the San Fernando Valley. On de so we'll just a heads up that we've been, uh, because of that. And because we're also going into a warm stretch here. It was going to say it was a lovely maybe end of winter day, but it's you know, we're still gonna have a hard rainy February But anyway, it was a nice to my daughter that we we garden. We actually garden were actually killed in the land. The land that Odin has given us and we've We filled it with Nordic delights like potatoes from the Incas. And now we picked our We prepare garden. Is it was warm and dry. So it was nice. And then, of course, is getting down 27, So we're not putting anything outside, but It's enough of me. The Uh, you're seeing the headline tonight in the South Land. That, um, that l a county has now cracked whatever. It is a million cases below that If you go to ABC seven if you go to a Ah couple other, uh, CBS two NBC for the real story is that hospitalizations are now on a downward trend. You know, as as I've been saying, you know, since January, 24th of 2020 Um, you know, I really don't care about the cases, cases are a function of testing. And the ability to test in a drive through fashion now is manifest. It's It's everywhere in California, and as we tested more, we found more cases. But did hospitalizations necessarily go up? Well, of course they did in December and January. And it appears now that this new South African strain may be responsible for that. But are are the hospitalizations continuing to go up our deaths going up? No, they're not. It doesn't appear to be any more lethal. Then you know if you're still writing, covert 19 and your checks, you're so 2020. You need to be writing code 19 Be 117 That's Z. That's your new Year of the monkey for your for your checkbook, but the lethal he doesn't seem to be any more. What we are discovering. And this is so California. I mean, granted. What's going on in ICUs, which you're not, by the way a capacity or Andahazi petals and all that. Very, very difficult for those hospitals. I mean, they are getting paid. No one's going broke right now in the medical industry. Um So there's there's that But what? What you're not hearing is that Wait? Where was I going with that? I forgot. I'll come back to it. I believe, But But so anyway, you're saying that the cases are now over a million on the whole, though that's what it is. This is what's so California about this California's environmental regulations. That concern the funeral industry or funerary industry, specifically crematoria. The plural of crematorium are the reason there's a backlog for funerals and bodies. It's not that they're piling up with the deed. And by the way, remember that story the only times two weeks ago that there's a shortage of pine for coffins? No, there's not There's not a shortage of freaking would for coffins. That was one of the most dis informing stories. I've seen the L A Times run in a year of this information. Total balloon juice Total crap. What is piling up and slowing down? The funerary industry is our California's clean air resource is bored. The carb, which is where legislators go when they term out are the ones who regulate burning up Grandma and grandpa. And because they're so backed up. What they've decided to do is loosen up the rules. Finally, because people now are are waiting, not days. But weeks and it's not because the crematoria are not able to go 24 hours a day. It's because the state of California can't put aside some regulations for an extraordinary incident, an extraordinary event. The last time we have bodies of this scale piling up was 1918. Do you think l a county or the city of Burbank said Whoa. It's a It's a red flag day. Let's hold off on the feet and grandpa and their feet first. So, ABC seven Disgusting. L. Yeah, those played okay, so So, um, so yeah, for the state of California is gonna loosen these up. This is there's also a fun fact here that I never knew. Here's ABC seven story about You cremating your beloved past. The rising number of deaths from covert 19 is taking a big toll on the families of those victims here in Southern California. Is that what this is about? To rob Hes found out one major concern. They may have to wait weeks to give their loved ones of proper burial, where you can lease the pandemic follows a desperate and tragic formula. I loved one contracts. Covic ends up hospitalized. Soon dies. We've seen images of morgues struggling to deal with the surge of bodies, but it doesn't and there we began to see nor Deeley call volume nearly double. Patrick Monroe is the president of Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier. It's 2500 Acres makes it the largest cemetery in North America, but it's still scrambling to handle the surge of burials caused by the pandemic. You know the process from the time a person passes away until their funeral is generally about a week, Maybe 5 to 7 Days services. They're probably four or five weeks out now caught up in the pandemics wave of heartache. The mark has family from South Gate. Your father, Manuel Lopez. Marc has died from covert last week. The family is learning. They may not be able to have his services and burial for another month and a half. When we called the cemetery, we were 102 on the waiting line, and it took about 6 to 7 hours to get through through this mortuary. Rose Hills officials say they are offering expedited burial services, but they had that most families are willing to wait for the standard services. In the meantime, though, the cemetery is ramping up its facilities. How's the backlog of bodies were on this, you know.

"To put over these these wrestlers of today so anything that that accomplishes that i think is important if you're going to have steve austin there if you're gonna have hulk hogan there if you're gonna have anyone there of any celebrity in the pro wrestling past you wanna have them endorsed endorse today's wrestlers otherwise it's just like okay. These guys come back and they feel like bigger stars than the stars of today. Why wouldn't you want to give the stars of today some rob <hes> so we have seen w._w._e. Do that a little in in the austin and the booker skype five segments. I remember a couple of years ago. They had and i can't remember how they framed it but it was it was a match and they brought back like shawn michaels and it was supposed to be flare but mick foley took his place and they almost like interviewed the wrestlers they ask questions of the wrestlers who are having coming match. They were in the ring. It was a segment in front of the crowd roud and i thought that was great and i was hoping to see more stuff like that. Where the legends from the past sort of endorse a match or are indoors these rustler's <hes> so they seem on the same plane as the legends and we didn't get any follow up on that but yeah. I think you've got to utilize the legends a lot better than we've seen w._w._e. Do in the past allen brody's idea too. I mean i think you can have a mix of things. It doesn't have to be just that but managed right in part of it but it could be something as simple. I know and don't be afraid to ask the legends to do that. You know just approach mic fully the right wing. Oh hey mick. It'd be really great. If like you just come and like sit with your kids are whoever just stay for the two hours and we'll show you a couple of times signs you know plug your twitter whatever but just seem engaged in the product and whatever whenever somebody you happen to be in the town where an ex wrestler lives then invite that wrestler and say which just love you i would just love for you to be such an endorsement of product and i think it would. I think it would win over some fans for you too. If if you're like sargent slaughter if he just showed up with a couple of nephews you know whatever just sat in the front row watched or sat in the second row and watched even gasp it it it reminds me of what they did for the first night a champion show where they had a representative from each title held it in the past and they showed him in the crowd before each match so that was such a nice touch and i'm so disappointed that they didn't follow up with that in subsequent years but not only did that put the title over but you know these legends who held these titles in these big names cared enough about these matches to come back and watch and watch these wrestlers fight over title that they they once held and that was once important to them and i thought that was so neat that they did that and again. It's something as simple as that. I agree all right couple of quickies to end on here. <hes> <hes> don't want to be negative here. Navene says how long before vince rooms annexed after its move to u._s._a. Network do you see hunter having full creative control of an x t eh i think people in annexed nervous about this guardedly optimistic that they'll be successful enough out of the gate to do their own thing i think we're did. I hear triple. H talk about this or did i hear talking about this on so many interviews out there just like that at this point and i've heard this for my source but i think think they're even being public about it which has been saying you guys. If we have done <hes> <hes> these are these are sibling restaurants and a dining experience unlike any other you've ever had the first is called stock market place and the way that it works is we have a menu and based on the demand of food. The prices change every single day so if people are not buying the filet mignon that day you could get it real cheap but if that's the highlight them the price is going to go up up up up so as you're sitting down you got a big stock board and you're watching prices rise and fall and as a diner are it's up to you to decide. When are you going to jump on that dish. I like the premise. I worry about how you're going to control someone not occupying a table the entire day just waiting for something cheaper and how that will affect the servers their tips and they're <hes> you know passion for the job rob. <hes> well you do that by investing in the kitchen. This comes through. I think more than anything else in the course of me. Researching miss burke was how much of a man driven by his emotions and passions since he was and he was not going to after ten years of ruining against adolf hitler and the nazis and not being listened to finally we be when he became prime minister he was nelson about to <hes> to into peace negotiations so i'm sure you know there's a new documentary out called they shall not grow old which which is a <hes> colorization of or one footage and addition of sound by the director peter jackson extraordinary achievement and it's important for americans to watch it <hes> because i think americans and others have no wariness of the role that were one played in the psyche of europe in general and certainly in england in the nineteen thirties. It would only been a little more than a decade. It was so horrific horrific. The fact that that england had not that france had zero taste for war is totally understandable. They lost enormous amounts of men <hes> in the first world war england as well not not as much as france but england lost enormous if i remember correctly point one million right and it's a big number of the population of the time of what makes less than i would say i'm gonna guess was in the fifty million range. Listen that we're maybe forty yeah so so two and a half percent of the population is is killed in the war and america's never experienced anything remotely like that and i and again having visited england oakland. You'll tell me the name of the day. Maybe it's just veterans day but you know we have a veterans day here. In america eleventh of november <hes> in in in <hes> in england <hes> people make a donation and they they papi. They were busy issue. I mean it's it's on the calendar but it when i was in england on november eleventh it was it was an enormously focused on experience obviously and so they you know when people complain that everyone was an appeaser and chamberlain was an appeaser yeah and i think as as you're suggesting the the real news there is that somebody wasn't because it was a perfectly natural thing to do not to want to go back to work again that's right and the but he had spotted in hitler and the nazis and was the first person and for many years the only person us to <hes> to make the warnings he knew this because he was an historian and he'd seen previous attempts to geminis europe and destroy the european european balance of power. He was a final see might and he had an early warning system for what hitler and the nazis were like because he liked jews <hes> he he was somebody who had seen <hes> fanaticism up close and personal in his own career fighting in in africa and asia <hes> and so he was able to to spot what hitler was really all about in a way that a lot of the other prime ministers the nineteen thirties the who'd never seen fanaticism and their lives were not able to do but as you say and we had it was only twenty years before that <hes> we had lost if these enormous numbers of men and when i watch you you say that you <hes> rob <hes> emotionally affected going around the cabinet war rooms <hes> i. Further around sixteen i xe beaten defending champ is religion five three on aggregate run out of scoring hat trick leads. You bet despite spike from tune no deficit against <hes>. Let's go madrid united p._s. G with the three one win in paris with the help of v._r. So it's not just these two. It's been a brilliant alien knockout phase for different teams and different phase of the competition west well. It's been great with european football so we've seen some of the older great. Let's maybe not being the by munich's. You've anticipated the boss. London's not quite in the past. We've seen some young new ghanzi i._x.'s will we've seen the english teams luke block that powering box live pools th this is the manchester city. The whole mix of european football is really interesting place but we all know is a cyclical cyclical football teams with renaldo. Can it'll be moving on you. Don't messy still been incredible but is that team. Embalm unix kind of going through transition position is it. It's a period right now. In european football where english teams could continue to do well because of others are going through transition. We'll we'll see what was it. Dan visit ram. "rob hes" Discussed on World's Finest Geeks Podcast

"Long. I think it's something i'm your host vince the geek. Find me on twitter at vince the geek and to my right. I'm also your co host. This is a <hes> geek writer rob and i am on twitter at greater rob <hes> and we are your world's. Finest geeks and here is the latest our weekly podcast. We got a lot of stuff to get over. <hes> go over. There is a latin actually slow news but we still got a lot to talk about more than you have time to talk about yet. Always always <hes> yeah writer director. Noel howley is <hes> he finished doctor doom script which he originally had set up at fox before fox fox was brought out by disney <hes> he originally announced that <hes> eh san diego comic con and twenty seventeen correct yeah he announced that a couple of years years ago actually yeah and it looked like he was going to do a doctor doom origin story because the fantastic four movies that came out previously under the banner under the fox banner had utterly failed story wise and for the most part <hes> you know successfully as far as hits the box office so they're gonna go different route <hes> yeah i mean they should honestly i'm not even interested in a movie that was written for fox. <hes> the way i see it as marvel has done great even the movies that are semi controversial that some people don't like <hes> even those movies hit a home run so for me when you tell tell me that some dude wrote for fox. I'm just not that interested in it but the good news is vince that <unk> halley has said that at once it looked like the fox merger was go through with disney he actually rewrote the script to include to be integrated with the marvel studios universe now characters that involved we don't know this is all he said about it and he has met with kevin feige the producer of the marble studios <hes> movies so apparently they spoke. We just don't know what you know. What the end game is. If you look part of the given just given his regular work that he's already done he did legion which got cancelled not because of popularity or anything 'cause you know disney's going through that whole thing with a bunch of different companies <hes> he did fargo which i love the first season of fargo. I never kept watching watching it because there's an anthology film or show yeah and because it's anthology i just never really got into the story line but fargo itself. Was that what i've seen of it and of course it's the most recent is lucy in the sky which is on netflix and everybody keeps talking about it and they say good things about it but i haven't seen it. I'm just saying that doom. You is such a high level villain that if he's part of the m._c. you then he needs to be part of the e._m._c. You can't just be some random fox story. The fox does because that's what fox does a bunch of random stories. Yeah they could do a whole origin story with the character with victor von doom and how he became ruler of liberia so i mean it's a possibility posssibility but we'll see true <hes> n._c. Titan as we got season two titans coming up both of you both you and i had the d._c. Universe number streaming service yes we have both we both basically both watched <hes> titan season one. I was so into it that i watched that weekly but you finally binged it <hes> when they were all available in just a couple of days. I think you said yeah like two or three days. We watched it. I'm not gonna lie. It's sin exciting. Show it's doc. It's it's what the fans liked that doc but without being like visually dog there is some visuals stuff going on. There was some coloring but the feel of the show is dog. Show got robin cursing there. Yeah the other robin is breaking cops backs loved it loved their right and then we have season to you come in and in season two just in the episode alone. We have so much being revealed. It's less is not as dark more of a young justice field. They got that whole bunch superheroes and stuff we see dick in the mansion talking with bruce wayne and the preview in this trailer too and it's just like a brief teaser cheeser like maybe thirty seconds seconds and then we got jason todd being a dick which i fucking love la la and then <hes> super blamed crypto. We're gonna being a low air. Jam your loved. That's my jam. I loved like when they showed crypto in superbowl real briefly in that stinger tag at the end of season one. I thought that was that was a cool. Surprise didn't go there. We also got death stroke. We saw that show. <hes> looks good speaking to death stroke. We got rose wilson and roses in there being some ask her when when i am people said jericho but i didn't recognize him. I just saw him as a random character. Will maybe people know something. I don't know <hes> hopefully we get more hawkin goven this because i thought that they were underused. In the first season. You know you know that is a deep and dark storyline hawk and dove between them. I like to to really really delve into it. They they hit a couple of beats with it but man i was just that was <hes> a couple of episodes in the first season that really focused on them and were some of the best nuanced storytelling that during the whole season so hopefully they're more of a regular part of the team but but we'll see <hes> we also got a nice surprise fries got <hes> wonder girl. She was in season one but we see her dressed up action in season two. She got her little rope. Dang right. Was that <hes> she's got her. Lasso uh-huh uh-huh and of course we see aqua lead and returning as beast boy and raven a little thing so it'd be interesting to see see how they grew from last season <hes> i'm. I'm excited looking forward to and i think that's the beginning of september so we only have a couple of weeks for that. So it's very young justice. He like you have all the different people working together br vising the very much. Oh yeah we didn't mention bruce. Wayne is in in the series and in the trailer in the second seed so that should be fun <hes> talking about crossovers <hes> cbo crossover coming up for the c._w. Shows this year that in this year. It's gonna encompass encompass five shows. It's going to encompass arrow supergirl the flash legends up tomorrow and bat woman which is going to be the new series is coming on this year at the abused i believe october with <hes> same night of supergirl sundays but <hes> eh events involve all five of those series not only that but they have a black lightning series which is a separate universe much like supergirl is from the arrow verse and he is going to be at cress williams. He plays black lightning lightning which has been confirmed. He's confirmed that he's going to be in that crossover this year so this will involve all six of their series but there's more which is super interesting thing because like pressure last year. They said i will never happen he had because it was the schedules but the thing is arrow is ending this year so i think maybe cheers. Here's a little bit of time for everybody and i think we're gonna see arrow sacrifice himself. That's me guessing which is something. You said. I think earlier this year or two right. I think it said in a previous podcast awesome we're talking about. We also got a couple of different. Superman got a couple of different supermen. Brandon routh from superman returns two thousand two thousand no yeah two thousand six that was release dancing forever but he'll be a different versions gonna be that version of superman. He's going to be the kingdom. Come version from the alex ross the classic alex ross book which which you know alex ross the painter yeah you guys don't follow alex ross on twitter definitely follow alex ross on twitter posts on dope paintings all the fucking time wrong awesome just about every morning yeah. You said he's good. I'm going to give him a follow because i see a lot of tweets and they're probably from you. I don't always pay attention it. We're definitely alex but we're you're going to have cameos cameos. There's one specific thing. I'm for last but first of all it looks like we got burt ward coming in who played robin on the nineteen sixties batman televi- who'll be playing that version supposedly of dick grayson. Maybe awesome maybe as like an overwatch gotcha older age like wha what k- what felicity did it did on arrow right you know let's say that type of role does were guessing there because it hasn't been confirmed but that's just gotta be it and then we also have a oh. The other superman is going to be <hes> the actor who plays him on supergirl occurring. I tyler heck. Lynn is the actor's name so he's going to be back so that's two versions. It's vermont and we might get a third because it's been rumored this week. We'll see what happens that tom rolling welling who played clark arkansas though all bill will be in there superman from that universe oh it's exciting stuff and i'm probably forgetting some of them right now but it looks like they are going to run the gamut with this one man <hes> but the most surprising thing and yet you still happy about yeah literally early. <hes> kevin conroy is going to be in this crossover playing seriously playing an older version of bruce wayne who only only assume is the bruce wayne from batman beyond i saw it they bring in terry mcginnis fire right second of all kevin conroy hashtag best my batman care you put him next to any one of those movie batman and i'm sorry it's kevin conroy bro like man. We'll have to go into a dive and see like who he would cast. You know who cast her terry mcginnis to play bruce wayne in the spokesman. Let's not even get into it if yeah exactly and if it's not been announced like what's going on but that is what's going on with that crossover and we'll be seeing seeing that <hes> we'll be seeing three episodes the five how december i love how the sea is they keep working towards that young justice justice justice league sort of feel where you know everybody's superheroes were all working together for a bigger issue. We're all trying to figure things out. I really i'm really digging that speaking right of young justice young justice is fire young just as outsiders like if you guys haven't seen that yet what is is wrong with you if if you don't know nothing about the d._c. Universe they have a little bit of everything or if you're like snyder stan you should probably watch young justice from beginning to.

bruce wayne fox fox alex ross twitter vince fox kevin conroy disney dick grayson robin writer liberia marvel Superman Noel howley kevin feige titans terry mcginnis marvel studios netflix

"Plus right. He's laughing de <music> but think about stupid ridiculous like hey. You know it'd be funny. I think we talked about this. Mike on the show you know be great. Let's do a show. We're a bunch of p._o._w. Americans show soldiers are presents a war in nazi germany and they get the full colonel the we just yell then yeah absolutely ridiculous <hes> so surpri- i'm kind of surprised by this <hes> the story that came about about the star wars park at disney. Apparently it's not doing well well and they're cutting back hours and so my question is because we talked about this. There was so much hype leading up to it. All there's going to be six hour lines in twenty years waiting in line for eight days and bring food and water and yet idiot. Did they scare people. Pull off from going 'cause we were like we do. Let's get the fam- let's go. We're in and then all that stuff came out like yeah. No i'll wait a year. Did you see the youtube videos does of magic kingdom. When star wars opened yes crickets. There was an align over five minutes long everyone why would why do you think that kids kids. Don't care like we do know. They're all in the data of the dads are dragging. I mean because the dads are but my kids are all in weight. That's your kids kids but that's a small percentage. I think about it think think about society the way we grew up compared to how many call like you see how many non and fathers that care to pass down the geek ism it's. It's you gotta be honest in two thousand nine thousand nine hundred. There's just like yeah too many many options for the here's the thing when i open back twenty years ago oh would have blown up so any felt like i had kids that we were buying christmas gifts for star wars toys store. You know what they wanted. Jar jar binks stall showed that want to give the kid the judge but so that's why but so that's the thing like so you look at like all the criticism that's happened about the you know the new trilogy and some of the other stuff like it's ever since return of the jedi like that's that's the turning turning point where you finally understood. It's not about us like return of the jedi was about selling toys thirteen when we were ten when jeddah came out so so it's all about selling toy episodes one two and three were all about selling toys episode. Seven eight and nine are all about selling toys or like like the box office. Numbers are great moisten dicing negative. That's where the money's to be nice referenced. Yeah i got you know because you can never change the perspective. We saw four five six one two three seven kids all seen at one two three four. I thought i made them. Watch it the right way but i'm right. You're obviously most of them so it's a different because when you get that feel from how he did in the way that it was made to now with all the c._g._i. And walk through your studio here and looking at like i love the the war pitchers with the world war two around got the ads thirteen is amazing. That's amazing because because that's such you know there's that means something to me but you know you know i can go through the storylines and everything else because i grew up on it so here's the thing that that i think is the issue issue with it and i think it's the <hes> it's the pricing <hes> you got. What is it thirty dollars a cocktail at the cantina. You got to build a droid which is like three three hundred dollars to build a new two d. two for twenty five thousand dollars. Yeah i mean it's pr- disney's expensive is shit as it is yeah. I just went in august like that's over the top. I'm ready dropping. I can't even tell you how much take my family down there. Five people <hes> yeah exactly yeah and but then more expensive than a red wings game tigers right. You know what i mean like it's insane. It's insane. I always go. It's just me. I don't have kids. I don't have a wife but i feel so bad you guys as with a family it's like how do you take five kids to disney without spending twenty thousand dollars. You just do you worry about it and you say shit. What did they do afterward later but like yeah the the days of when you could go with your boys to vegas. I'm doing this weekend and only spend money for me but it's going to do it like once every four for years. It's glorious no but here's the thing when we went to disney. Even my kid wanted ride the some stupid roller coaster and i'm like spinout. No i wrote spa and gorse because the ladies they call me space mountain. You know oh stride longest sorry little flair but the anything anything over an hour no hands down no for the harry potter thing and universal let them go to ours and i'm like your mother going to be sitting in the restaurant brian cocktails els come out. You know this is where you're gonna find. Come gathering when you're delegating over an hour none of not what is not and i think star wars like the the lines like philomena binding talking to me and it was like three hours long now so probably one of the coolest stories that came out that i thought was really interesting. It's so chase. Bank of canada decided they were getting out of the credit card market in canada they it just wasn't like one of their focuses and so they just wiped out all the debt so if you're if you're canadian and you had to chase credit card that that just doesn't exist anymore. I don't know how what i don't get it. That made no sense to me. I grenade code either talking. I was asking daring a question. You guys switch topics. I was i was about to say all you gotta do is get a friend like mardi freddie sheedy who has scissor gait disease syndrome i don't know and so i was asking him when he came to them like dude. You must love going to amusement parke's like i'm like do you use your use. Frontline always bro you know that was a thing and they stopped it like rich the people by a handy we talked about it like you rent a handicapped person. Hey there's uber. There's lift they're shipped. You could have a service call. Oh that's your there's a cold place in hell for you or warm place in l. However the goes <hes> but no but going back to the chasing a wake up in the morning going to your bills no more <hes> okay and i'm like that was their idea instead of just letting selling to creditors. I don't know if it was p._r. Stun the the best line knows the last line of this thing and it basically said the twenty four year old university students. She said it's kind of like a being rewarded for my irresponsibility and i'm like that's the whole thing up. It's like at least you're not going yeah but imagine how many people that are like forty. Five hundred dollars five granted debt. Just tomorrow like on another headache gone john sorry about to win. They're just chased. It and kennedy pulled out of the canadian market and they just said yeah. It's gone. It's a white you're yeah. So have you been also. Have you been following the spoofing and phishing stories going on all this. We've jillian was nuts. There's <hes> there's one where apparently never never apply for a job at walmart or mcdonalds or walmart and what they're doing is. They're buying walmart careers that u._s. Yep there's basically stripping walmart's mart's career site rebuilding it so they're doing what you did when you built the first detroit yes i said f._t._p. Did public <hes> <hes> but yeah there are people are applying and they're showing walmart or like yet. There's no interview for you and you just uploaded your shit up to eight. You just filled out every piece of information on a job application for somebody to harvest and go have fun while they were saying that not <hes> the not only the the basically the i._p.'s were coming from the u._s. and from pakistan select right. It's probably somebody here orchestrating through and so the you were talking about is now. They're hosting them on amazon web services so that they get to use us-based i._p. Addresses and correct more legit and so they're not caught as quickly by fishing detection spam detection all that kind of stuff right and not everybody buys proof point. It's it's you know what i mean like. That's not cheap. The greatest hack i've heard all week and this is something brand new and we talked about ransomware taking over cities and garbage but dude you everything about taking over over your d._s._l. Our camera yup no not our d._s._l. Our camera your your camera while so think about it. You're thinking about your professional photography. You're doing a wedding and basically your wireless setting on your because you're uploading your laptop at this wedding somebody basically hag man in the middle attack on the wi fi network and by the way now your cameras compromised way m ransomware. You'll meet thousand dollars to get your pictures back. What do you do yeah. That's a dick move. I don't i do you names though just what you did it claude lemieux that's me i. I'm beyond that choose your targets carefully. No but i mean you're a five hundred dollars for wedding yeah. Someone says i want half to get your pictures back. The bridegroom were like give me my goddamn pictures. What are you gonna do yeah and there's nothing you can do to prevent it. No merv mcdonald's and don't harder edged out for us anywhere no targeting get normal people no no end. You're running everything out for me. I don't know where to go. I got a question do you. Do you have an amazon alexa. I unfortunately do as a gift. I got so do you <hes>. Do you enjoy it. No i've never used it. I'm frightened by no you know. I just want you to know that that that an eight year old child made it a working <hes> through do that through the night so you could have a lower cost works. I didn't wanna i didn't ask for it but i have one but apparently it's <hes> because they <hes> miss classified testified <hes> the definition of interns during the manufacturing he had an eight year old. Yes knows no they had eight year old army. They basically school. Kids were interns schorr for foxconn that were making all these alexis and that they were just working them. They want the movie industry where they they only please twins and triplets so they could work in rice. I'm sure were ashley. Yes exactly. I did love the story out of ohio where a family family is now suing the fertilization clinic they went to because the daughter i decided for christmas he was going to buy twenty three and me kits <hes> for her mom and her dad which returned the results that her dad is not genetically related to her in any way shape or form which would not be what they went to the fertility clinic four there were they were supposed to be using the dad sperm and the moms egg <hes> and and so they don't know who's sperm <hes> they think it might have been one of the doctors here from the clinic. Where were you where i god speaking of net flicks. I totally forgot to mention this to you. <hes> <hes> cut of like i knew you were in the cards and that kind of stuff back in the day checkout jack-of-all-trades okay. It's a great documentary about why baseball cards aren't worth shit i any more i watched half of it and it pissed me off and because they thought of the of three <hes> bookshelves i have full of them in my a closet on third floor and turned it off okay all right yeah no those they can saco interview and all that because that was like that was i you know how many packs done ross i bought to get that idea car your bucks a month to buy right and and and i put that thing in the frame and i didn't touch it and pettit your naughty and i caressed it took care. It is house worth a dollar yeah well. I was talking to my kid about it and i go. Here's the thing i got all these cards upstairs. I could go sell them and like half off of beckett pricing but now i gotta go get them. Gentlemen graded. That's like six dollars a card and i guarantee that they're gonna come to be worth good bucks. Yeah i wouldn't trust efforts. You're gonna send did that guy at beckett you have to send your car to him and he grades it sends his house well yeah. I'm like no. He's gonna steal frigging card. I'm not sending comic. Book is doing on insight to get a car guy. I don't know where else to go. I think there's a place in ohio that you're saying there's no card shut. They were talking about how the explosion of like baseball card shops and that kind kind of stuff in the eighties early nineties and just how crazy it got and then they got to talk about like upper deck and upper deck basically artificially flooded the market was your what was the ken in griffey junior rookie card. One was the card that like was the hard to find card that when i got allegedly they were just printing sheets when i got into nineteen ninety doc gooden card in harbor beach michigan at the ben franklin i am. I like dollop in my pants like i was. I i was that was that was the hard like are you got dot my dad's i the only one i wanted was the billy ripken talk about that card yeah face face written as my have you seen that one in my cousin bobby the my cousin bought me the brick the entire set so i i have that card yeah but then also the <hes> the only ones that are worth money now. Aren't they like the garbage pail. Kids are are tired of it was like so like the the cards it's from like the fifties and sixties still have some value but what happened was you had the upper deck and flair and tops and don russ all these card companies came into existence and people were going. Oh well shit. Those fifties sixties cards are worth money for twenty four so i'm gonna i'm gonna i'm gonna by all these set my kid and put them aside because they'll be worse something in twenty thirty years. Well guess what everybody did that yeah. Nobody's moms were throwing them away. Okay which is what happened to those fifties and sixties cards that eighty nine rookie set with barry sanders troy aikman dion sanders. Go down the line. That was the set and i have that set and it's not worth it. It's worth god blessed henny you have. What did you say twenty four rookie cards as you you do. They pay you guys for that association. Deal union really yeah yeah so that was what contract they'll. They'll just include like by the way you're like. This can be used for don russell sign up to be part of that yeah yeah that's part here. We're going to put you in video john car radio because they put it back into the to the little caesars glass harmless that'd be cups and we'll know the that's the different teams they own. You're right so they can print off whatever they want but like there's these and all that fun happy who i <hes> right exactly exactly so when you sign off on the p._a. Puts back in and that's about the best part you know he and eagleson was before me you know and that but good now. Is there through whatever else house now glenn healy's running in and you know it's it's players i now and it's aboard all the it's pretty much you know retired of. We don't care are what the cause of its concussions you want to say. What did they know. Maybe it's sleep in its lifestyle. Let's so we're we're staying in the forefront so all this money goes goes back in to help help the players so they like e._a. Sports like those games they pay. They pay huge here. They had to pay a ton ninety four. Uh on those super on a genesis yeah slapstick comedy shirts out right now it said <hes> yeah got gretzky upside down heavily read skis <hes> <hes> number ninety nine remember swingers course but then the movie resignation because that's what we did before we went out played cricket n._h._l. Ninety four so did you catch the con- glitches that i knew just top of the circle backhand robber or the wraparound. Ah did you catch the comic con tie in in that documentary <hes>. I might have turned off when i was mad. G you okay so did you get to the point where he meets his dad yeah okay so his dad was the guy who i brought hockey cards into the united states. Where did you bring him to. The original motor city comic cons down in plymouth. I've been to those so so that was where hockey cards. I started coming to the u._s. And he was talking about you know drive in from you know uh-huh plymouth michigan that con- that just started up thirty years ago i guess which one that was and then you've got and then we drive to philly and then 'cause you got the two dollar cards parts here that in philly are worth ten bucks. He load up and you go there. Then you take those cards that are two bucks in philly you go to new york and their ten bucks there. Then you take the ten th then they're two bucks new york's and then you go to you drive back to michigan. There were twenty now. You know what it all is. It's goddamn funchal pops today. It is absolutely any babies before that and it's funchal pops today. When you see that shit selling for three four thousand dollars you can eat the corn. You're hey. We're gonna take a quick break. That's different. I know i just you know heroes. How how they're being sponsored by a prostitute. Oh that's amazing wifi welcome to detroit. I mike wall. We sunday to thursday radio for one. You could catch all that great conversation about toro's on the see. This is what i hear my house most. That's a destroy casting none a- cardi. Here's what i hear my house more than anything not hi honey. I'm home save that shit for the detroit. Cats say that ship for roy cast so that voice you've been hearing is the host of grind time with mccarthy v._m. Self is darren. Dan mccartney's apropos. I think yeah it is it. Is you have to because otherwise it'd be confusion like who hosts it. Mike when a slime ball something in there and you know it's maybe you would steal your name like that. That's the one fight. I don't wanna pick. I wouldn't say that but it'd be like grind. I time darren mccarty hosted by mike walters mccurry. He's not here no. It's mike wall. He's he's off today. So so jump then i mean what got you started into podcasting mike walters and actually it's a great story and it is a good story so <hes> obviously we know that podcasts are the new thing or they've been something that's catching hold because of the originality and we were talking about earlier. It's timeless so mike it approached me a couple of years ago. I was still back and forth between here in florida but it was something that you know i was i'd been <hes> through recovery and it was one of those things things that i wanted to compete again. I was ready getting healthy and and so honestly started out by just you know well. He's being once a month. One yeah what it was perry called me and i've known perry co host with him very religious at perryville lucia perry's mom and my mom are best friends for like forty ears and perry called me and he was like he could have a token while. I was just wondering if maybe possibly perhaps maybe sometime it'd be cool. Would you be interested in talking to darren mccarty. Hardy was like nah yeah i would i would harry could he come in studios like yeah. Oh yeah endure came in and sat sat in on the detroit cast and just crust for an hour and a half like i've known darren since ninety five ninety six of my oldest friends because he used to protect me from you're not kidding generally call me at like three in the morning from anaheim six in the morning he he knew the dramatic show and he was a regular on that show and he would call when they were on the west coast and that's when the guys get a little rambunctious after a game we get a little drunk and he would call call me be six a._m. And i'd answer the phone the shit faced. It'd be like probably on the air tonight air that we beat the dan heim ducks walks last night. Put me on the air. Put me in the know that go to sleep. I would be like eight mac when we just started this whole calling back in an hour knowing he'd pass out right and it'd be the end of it and it was in my best interest to put him on the air in those days like that would have been a new that would have been free headline. Yeah darren mccarty clearly intoxicated in the middle of a playoff run on the west coast. You lose a game. It's his fault for for being drunk and so it was like i i like darren. Darren was one of the first guys that came into the drew and mike show and knew i was and he knew who the interns were. It wasn't like i know drew and mike is and then throw away all the cast like he actually knew who we were and it was like dude this great and we're the same age and so it was like darren. Call me in an hour. I wouldn't put them on. I wasn't going to do that to him. And was this one time. After ruben yes wants but but it mattered to you use so you knew twenty years later and so he came in killed it on my show just delivered story. After he was great he was so energetic and just fun and he was he was clear headed and he'd had his past people knew about and i call them the next it was darren we got. Let's do launch man. Let's just grab launch and we did launch and i just had my pitch and i was like dude. You come on man and there were other people offer you stuff. There's yeah and it was just just one of those things which i will always grab time with darren mccarty insists. The one thing is that i'll tell you the truth and the truth to me. Is that loyalty and no matter matter. I've learned that i'm not in a hurry to get anywhere anymore. It's about building the foundation of sort of <hes> family that you realize because us. It isn't just hockey stories. I mean you're talking. You got nascar guys. You got a it's my light here. Here's drivetime darren mccarty. Whatever we're i want. Whatever is when you want to hear me. Talk hockey catch me on ninety seven wander catch me right. You know when you're e._s._p._n. When you're going to hear here you're gonna hear what i like. I do you know do it. Wednesday nights usually seven thirty eight o'clock. I have in studio guests. I you know i'll try to sort it on my ass would brag kazlauskas number number two. This is a good friend of mine so i got some great and then we'll tell you guys because i t in the d. right kazlauskas from a question i said what makes roger penske successful roger penske says let me tell you a story so roger penske two thousand seven. I had little the first i addition to the blackberry punching in and it's small or not the black bears iphone roger roger penske at the blackberry with the buttons right and it was one of those things that he's like. Oh you guys. I can't get into that because the fingers five years later brad sees him and he's got an iphone and he works the iphone faster than brad. Doesn't he's like what the heck's is going on and he says you gotta get with the times. I gotta get with the times and you got to adopt and whatever brad says he. He says you know i was the billionaire. I'd have a cocktail on one hand of beer in the other and beyond the beats conway but that's not roger that's getting that's not why penske's successful and i'm just proud. I'd like to like people that don't know it's like to facilitate the information because you don't have one choice and that's the greatest thing with the podcast. It doesn't as a matter of you get to it now. My i asked you have a podcast you say yes. I'm onto the next person yeah because as long as you know you'll get around to. It and i know that you'll enjoy it just like we all have different takes and it's all personality in and that's what's important to me so it's taken more than i do now. We're getting into musical guests in studio and and can you know just building up with relationships and and the people that i know and and see me and want you know her friends of mine and just it's different relationships and i'm just trying to share that with everybody what the hell is your old band rider sites guys play at a post mount clemens grinders that actually damon johnson who was from <hes> originally from brother came but plays with alice cooper and he's on tour thin lizzy right now. He's coming to play a solo at the token oaken lounge on august thirtieth in <hes> mike guitar player billy reading. I are gonna go up play a few tunes but we're planning reminders back grinders back <hes> september thirteenth up at the ballet in grill and gaylard nice <hes> yeah we're gonna fire the backup because it's it's the perfect opposites and i got you know the a lot of the tie stones band so that are they're filling another than right yeah so and so like it was important to me like when i'm building rail for one students like i had the detroit cast that you guys know oh your forever and and i was like i've been so lucky to meet amazing people along the way whether it's the darren mccarthy's or you know this comic that i think you know. No people don't know but they should. He's really good jake. Cress newburgh with heroin has and so i reached out to these guys individually and i started with dan. Dan was the first guy reached out to and that was my pitch dude. I wanna build a family where i'll support you. You support me. It will grow together it's not about about you know if i have something that can help you. If i can reach an audience size that will give you a shot. That's that's it and it's amazing. I i had a guest in <hes> shit. What was his name. <hes> the hockey guy down l._a.'s famous k rock d._j. He found motley van halen. Okay <hes> rat. Poison hans onto earn ups yeah. You're something anyway. Sorry sorry yeah. Do you think about it but he's still doing it. He's legend. He introduced kiss at the viper earn at the whisky a few weeks before and so he came in studio and he's he's talking about. He does a hockey podcast called puck off which is a great name for hockey price and he's in-studio all of a sudden. I just hear thundering down the stairs. Here's the door kicks in and it's like that can only be one person and it's darren. He's listening at home drives over 'cause he knows this guy's there and he's a hockey fan and i mentioned darren mccarty eighties. Oh had give anything to just meet the guy. This is someone who's sixty years old. Who's worked with everybody. Everybody signed bands spun all their albums and he's like. I give the leg to meet darren mccarty four minutes later. Dan mccarty kicks the door and the guy shits. They know they can't be real. Darren just sits and it's like that's the vibe. That's the exact vibe. I'm going for if you're familiar with. If you're familiar with the wu tang dan clan we all say the same philosophy of offer one doesn't matter else and and we've had some great we've been able able to do some stuff like g. Chris was in town so we do the what i've got to vima ram but it's the it's the house and all the list you know. It's you find what you like an. It's you just be a part of it and it's just an inclusion renton like you guys got going here. Yeah you know if everybody can seem seem like they're sitting where i am right now. It's great fun conversation and and not only knowledgeable but learn things and then the see the thing about this business. It's not like like there's not really. I don't see anyone as competition addition other. I wanted to see the medium grow more. You wanna see more people doing what we're doing and that's the that's the idea. I believe. It's like pushing it to. Hey this. This is what i listen to this. Why like hey you tell me what you like because there's it's infinity. There's no it's. There's no end in. It's for everybody because if you you have something to say. It's a great way to say it. I mean david. I did is podcast where we read one-star yelp reviews at like mcdonald's and starbucks. It was like i love the the people listened and it was we miss doing. It should fire that back yeah. That was an eating other than this. It's the most listen to thing on the spotify feeds i don't. I wouldn't doubt i'm sure but i did radio like he was winning. Stanley costs professionally. I was doing radio morning radio professionally ashley at for many many years and it was really hard when i started podcasting to get rid of that attitude that absolutely of radio like everybody's competition well that that was when your your shit went out to the ether and it was gone back when back when you hit us i didn't i wasn't good at responding joining the emails <hes> it's not about you guys but but that you would you would send something out into the ether. You would do a morning show. You either heard it at seven thirty when it aired or you. You didn't hear it now. Derek lee had showdown on wednesday night and someone might hear it next thursday. It doesn't matter or from now having the meatball in a year and a half a what russia which was the oh wait. Where's we both sandwich like is there. Tell me because i love me. I'll tell you i want to know what it was down the road at two guys from italy. Oh i swear to god that's my dived shot out. I just call all like i see it but that is my absolute favorite. I probably go there tonight. After the show absolutely do we get pizzas from there all the time when we did meet up <hes> high score <hes> <hes>. I don't love that i want to go like that. If you guys cracked up back but i can go and listen to all oh yeah there's twenty forty thing right. Now is having this conversation. Hey check this out. Hey check like i'm gonna go. Check out the boys and and you know whatever the conversation sation is but it's like it's it's like off the we're having a <hes> trying to figure out who you know and it was yeah. That'd be john druce. Yeah yeah the same sort of thing. We're going to get got there but it's like if i have a thing. Hey what are you guys. What was that thing we were talking about. What did they say here. You can find it makes point and and i think it's for everybody yeah you might strategist so he's the one time one time no it's it's the the best part of it because darren can come over and be like hey man. Did you see this did you. Did you hear that it's like no. I don't know what you're talking about. He can pull a video podcast from months years ago. Ed whatever and it's like i get it. You couldn't do that no whole career in radio. You couldn't do that in t._v. Radio like it's a weird thing like we bitch about the the invasion of the you know tak taking over and all my god. It's you know we were getting hands and whatever yeah there are. There are good parts to it. It's like i love. I love that if i don't use google google. I use duct duct. Go <hes> yeah but i but i ll it's another bro you don't. You're not using texaco. Oh it's my show but it's it's just fun for me. It's fun to embrace fully the podcast namic. Go i want guys who are powerful voices have great stories and art me who fits the bill more than mc writer j chris newburgh <unk> as well as one or no because it doesn't have to be oh here. We got to put our whole thing on you. You're howard stern or put. All you know i could put <hes>. Here's he's got this audience but you know for an example now expanded. He's got the two young kids started do their twenty one twenty two but they have something something to say and it's it's all when you when you what i love is when i walk in there and it's all for what can we do. I take his internees or he's not your internees attorney's. Mike mike mccoll. No oh easily <hes> eric fadi who's his guy will come with me to to run you know so <hes> remotes and stuff like this and it's a family thing is like i need her doing that and i would. I would incur to every anybody out there looking to chase case management not talent right your man and don't be in a hurry lay that foundation down. We're not going anywhere and 'cause it. Always be there and it's just as long as you're talking can about what you know and love then why it's not wrong. That's the best part. You don't have to stay guidelines. You don't have to i think people well not to interrupt you guys know asking questions and stuff but to me on i know what it was like to be working my ass off as as a producer on the number-one morning hall of fame caliber two time national morning show of the year drew and mike show and be not respected respected as four cup yeah thanks but but to not be there were times when you felt lesser than you weren't the guys i wasn't drew or might truly and so you were just kind of dismissed and it was like no man. There's a lot of people working their asses off here that are necessary to put this together but not everybody steve. Is you know what i mean. You need a grind line. I get to be star steve is we're now though yeah n._h._l. To k. club people linden's brought people in. I've bought people in sometimes they work. Sometimes they don't the ones that that are selfish or in it for the wrong reasons we we them out. Man william kelso get to this point where what he's talking me leary themselves out eric fadi like eric. I'm darren needs viet the at m._i._s. this friday and new. I'll be there and he's there and he's recording working. He loves doing and it wouldn't. That's the thing is i want peace. I'm one piece of this project and it doesn't work and that's one thing that mike no. It's the support stop that. I have enabled me to be. The best that i can. Kazan comes out so it's like you talking about your <hes> the way that you guys communicate you've been doing it for years but you can tally with your report and how the different are and that's what it is because again back to it but you know when you're to sit at the bar and you make me feel that way that's comfortable and then and then and that takes me out of whatever i'm trying to get out of or right for that time hours to and that's all that your responsibility ability or my responsibility or my sponsor. I think it's podcasters are and i tell everybody that comes into our world every single person. That's like hey man i want to. I want to help help out any way can or i've got a background in producing engineering. I wanna be a part of it. I know that shine wears off like going in and being with darren mccarty for two months the shah it'll become a job at some point like you. Can you can bro god. He's a four time stanley. I don't care like i teheran and so i need guys that are in it for the long haul for the love of it that want to want to be there and do the work. It's not about like oh. I'm working with the drew and mike show guy more with the stanley cup champion. No it's more than that and so the guys we've put around us. That's really important to me that they get that that do it. There's work involved and every single one of them darren mccarty. Is your host right darren mccarty. The is your guy. He's the marquee your job like my job with drew and mike was to make drew and mike sound even better than they sound now thirty great they. They don't need me to help him with an interview. They don't need me to help us but i can do. What can i do on the site to make them better. It's not about me. It's not about you. It's about how do you make darren. Jaren look the best he can grind. That's what it is. You make sure the equipment works. You make sure the mic. That's really hard to find ego gets involved. I'll how do you know anybody that gets in radio or podcasting wants to be heard. You know what i mean and it's hard to separate that but you're not you're not the guy. This is your marquee right. You're marquees this. Is your marquee worked for him. Make him great. We all go to the top wanna. No no. It's you know had <hes> had all the engineers over <hes> friday night just to sit around and have drinks at the house and just you know hey. You know what's working. What's not working. What's great what socks yeah you know. What what am i not doing. What and that's that's what you need to do. Because i mean you great. I dude we can sign up all the shows in the world. If we don't have engineers that are good in the studios goes done the done over. Come back yeah simple yup but it was hardly we think so. It's called staying in your lane. It's communication. It's grind brian light. Not everyone's eyes are not everyone's surrogate. You know what i mean you just as important but you're things scotty talk yeah. It's yeah it's tough to get through though man. It's hard and i've struggled more than i thought <hes>. I would define guys that charts team players that just get the concept of team is really hard to find. There's no i in team but there is me i know yeah i know so i couldn't have you here on this show and not tell old post barr stories. That was a was like twelve trying to remember. If you like twelve years of my life <hes> starting off in detroit going to grosse rose point than want clements than auburn hills no vie and then clinton township for short stay there was only here's this rolling his eyes on and right yeah yeah yeah. I never worked ferndale. Oh that was brian's that was that was big. Yeah wrestle yeah yeah <hes> the craziest funeral i've ever been to in my entire life where the cops got called four times <hes> for what was it for tailgating in the parking lot in the grows and grows point on mac as yeah never forget that but yeah no. I'm not <hes> but yeah just the downtown like if view people that haven't experienced it like they're missing something because nothing it hasn't been replicated sense. Why roby because if you were it's sort of like living even through the cup crazy days i mean if you're around ninety seven ninety eight or even ninety four five six eight nine in the nineties down the post bar. You're you're sitting there listening reading outgrowing yeah. I know it's it's pretty much like childbirth if you weren't there and don't have them. I can't explain the feel. The southern of the cup is post eastern point on mack avenue outer. <hes> that was where that's where i saw and then i saw the the next jeb leave at rogers roost will best top story at the post bars as we have it in their ninety seven after we take the pitcher and we go right there and at you know how slammed zillow posted downtown used to have this big the gate door big heavy door at the front and there's no windows and it was allie with the bar all the way to that there's no doors on the bathrooms threw it was i gotta go take a pl c twenty minutes like this with the bat will so the cops going around right music's plan like this joys coaches got the cup up and he goes oh because he had his rangers rang on right and noticed that it was off as filling drinks. Go stop stop and you know in the post bar how win the music's stops like <hes> record player lights. Go on everybody. Oh here it is joey. I'll give it back though by in whites was if i'm trying to give people the impression of how that was like family yeah you know it was well. He worked there. Whether you went there you just it was something that and not to there is there is something about it. We always say cup crazy but the experience to be back there. That time was also also to caveat on the cape. Yeah think about a bar today wouldn't happen where you at eight pizzas would come in the front door and you take a slice and you pass it down and like do you have special spar was special. It was a family that was the feeling of it and the cool thing for for you know like doing a morning show around that time it was so crazy the flags and the cars everywhere remembers the redwing flags <hes> every car literally every it was as big as eighty four tires if not bigger yeah and i covered a lot of the sports teams lions not so much tigers pistons occasionally like you didn't get the those guys you could get them on your show. You might even get one studio but there was a distance between you. Sorry you win the place. You know what i mean. The red wings. I should not have been able to get starting players from the red wings cup up teams on my show like yeah when they're at the end of their career. They'll come on. You know like this twenty five twenty six year old kid in the middle of a cup raum run like i call them drive time and he gives you twenty minutes on the way to the rink like that never would happen with ryan's players or pistons or it was so different like i've never seen anything like it. Draper ozzy ozzy was more quiet which is weird because he's funny as hell yeah. Now you see personnel see all of them. They were either bartending or they were. They were d._j. With me yeah yeah. That was the one time i don't like the they'll namedrop thing but like one time kosher was back there with me and he's like bobby. Go give me a couple of beers problem and i grabbed him to to bud lights. He goes slammed both know he looks at me. He goes with you a wide cases. I'm gonna go back into the cooler. Barbeque looks at me. I go broad is it's good came into the studio at riff one morning we we would start our show at six. We would get there like four four thirty when we were responsible towards the end. It was like five fifty five. Get we get there. This is the old building darren. You probably maybe you won't remember this. It's like four thirty in the morning. Pull in and walk in and the first thing we get in that old bill was the kitchen you'd see the kitchen and there is is just beer cans as far as i can see darren and my husband's in from canada yeah kristie cars christie carter during the overnight nightshift couple friends of his and darren and just as an island. Hey guys what's going on but but that that was what it was in those days you know what yeah like. He brought the cup in for us. Never got sick from drinking the cup. I'm amazed do we always joked herpes or salmonella dick pic who cares like like daredevil at like. I have a picture. It's one of my favorites by ten of me and darren were twenty five year old kids both of us holding the cup together. I got a molar twelfth. I looked yeah but we're holding it up and it's like dude. That shouldn't happen. Man shouldn't has just special so we were. We were in a phase when our friends were getting married and we try to ruin each other's wedding pictures by giving the guy fix was getting the picture taking so my first i picture i take it the post clam with the cup. I give the cup fish sticks and that's like. I think it's the only picture have clear just and i'm like got my hand and underneath giving it to you know stink finger under the yeah exactly billy. I had to ruin that one moment like dave fisher christine uh-huh. Maybe how do you how do you west allegedly a yeah. No it's it's fun man. It's fun. The whole thing is is kind of an adventure and we're talking today on the way here and he he loves to give me like advice like he can't help it. Hell he's been around scotty bowman as long as he has her and other great coaches like dude. It's it's not a sprint. Take time. We'll get there right right well. The one the one of the stories stories. I wanted to talk about as i talked about a couple of friends that are on t._v. On monday nights and <hes> i took him to a ball game once the fist pumps and yeah i've been rhino and and that's cool i'm like when is it not get cool right and i kinda wanna ask you darin and it was kinda like he goes when people come up to me go member what they do the chris farley ali bin remember that one time twenty years ago or saw you at the bar was awesome like he's like. I got nothing bad like i mean. How many do you get dat daily if not like every elaborate because a lot of times when you realize here's the thing with me though and anybody knows hoses and i appreciate the slapstick comedy and stuff i'll do meet and greet after and i'll stay as long as it takes right and the one thing that i that i really appreciate appreciable my fans. Is that that when you come into my space it's about you and so in that i will dig into to see what and i'll find out doc exactly where it is now if you disrespectful or you're just i'll treat you like that. You know what i mean. I pull no punches what you deal with butter but the only taught like if you show respect whatever and it's the only time when that i ever had a problem is when my kids were younger and if i was kapanen attention to them. I'm sorry you're going to that's it. That's it yeah. I would like to be treated. I got all the time the dan i spend and people know this because i'll watch it and i'll as you can see. I get long winded but when we're talking about engaging i can hear them say oh. It's okay. Don't worry because we're we're. He'll give us the same time and that's all i and and that's exactly i will and it made me rethink how i go to like. I go to things things and selfishly. It's like oh. I've got a gig tonight. I'm tired. I don't wanna do this that but i went to a maybe a kroger you'll do an autograph signing for the wings and like coca cola and we were going somewhere else afterwards and you're like why don't you just come with me. We'll go here. We'll do this for an hour and then we'll go to whatever and so i did and there's alive. That's the biggest kroger must've been a hundred yards the aisles and an and the people are wrapped their this is recently thousand people. I mean it's crazy to see it wasn't thousand but they were there to see darren and they had two thousand four hundred thousand gillian gillian but here's what i saw and it was crazy because they got a table setup like a little table and usually you know you've all bet you guys bob and david benda autograph signings one or two eh table and the talents is owed by tens and they sign it well. These people all had their own stuff. They had little mini cops. They'd hockey hockey pucks the jerseys flags posters every the every one of them and i sat at the table and darren stood in front of the table and and what i took away from it was every single person in that line got a darren mccarty personal story and it wasn't forced every single one of them <hes> he referenced this guy's shoelaces or that guy's hat every one of them goes could go leave there and go mad mccarty ragged on my hat. He's my boss. My balls shula's and it was like that was the coolest thing i've ever seen because i've never seen a celebrity do that and give every single person person personal time and individual time not not sign at eight by ten move along set a reminder as ing paulson was like that who's who's rob <hes> it was our number one. That was our show only show we ever got a million downloads. Real is the voice of pinky and the brain and animals and a whole bunch of other stuff from our youth and he sat there and he was genuinely genuinely interested. You have some of these people these cons that they dislike they like why do they hate to be there right here. If you don't wanna in the hundred grand to do it right but like ten yeah you know what i mean so like i love your net crap like yeah because you get again because if you're a dick you're going to go home and go. Hey guys a dick. What's the saying don't ever meet you meet you here. You're right l._a. If your heroes darren mccarty me them ric flair made my daughter crying goes hey can i danny oh my god and she's raised her on wrestling so she's like oh my god. I'm rick flair and i go baby. You're eleven go up and take a selfie and she goes up to him and he goes. I don't know like crying. I'm like i had to make up some story about. He's contractually obliged blah. You know but i like broke her heart. I'm like yeah this is what i realize it and you know my <hes> journey of life and through ups and downs and especially in the sobriety and taking a really strong look at who i am by powers the people my power is they've got me through everything and whatever i because i grew up in this area so it might mentioned earlier that i knew he was yeah. I grew up as a fair. You know the cross order but it's the power of the people to like i like to say is like hey anybody who's given a set of prayer for mere. Whatever like that. I it hurt and so thank you and and i never i love. I never expect the when i who i'm gonna meet or what's the story or who i've right there because i it always blows my mind because it's something that will never see common and and it's just to be able to be present and to know that you know like i had an impact. People's lives well. They had an impact in mind word. That's the whole thing well. That's the one thing they wiseass. You're cognizant of that has like even like with me. You know we we walked through l._c._a. Together and walk through elsa with democrat right yeah people do do not have a place to me. They'll walk by and they won't. They won't believe what they see and i'll listen i'll hear them and though they'll walk by and eh like pressure that was dan mccarthy and they'll just kind of you know mac he'll turn around. He could easily keep walking. You know it's going to be mad at that point. He'll turn around extended hand and spent five minutes. It's crazy crazy. It's awesome though it's awesome to watch too it's supposed to you know what i mean. That's the way you voices right. There's a line we talked about that but i know that there is a day and the line has treat another human being the way you he wanted to treat respect and and it's like let's we can get to and i get the goo goo gaga. We'll get through that too. We'll do all day long until you will realize realized that we can have a conversation. That's yeah well like if i'm sitting with my wife and kids and i got a mouthful of mashed potatoes and you come up with the bar napkins like come on. What was the the law. Here's the thing that i give you the right now right now. Let's hang with sergei back back in the day those i i whenever i heard the phrase. I hate to do this nato 'cause he. "Krio said when our players mr third and fifth and mr rapper no is butt naked robbed lady on bell's name is mr button get robbed dass. His name is not mr rapper. Mr button naked get robbed. You guys don't notice story. Look it up about how he got robbed by the to garden hose and you know mr button naked gay rob. <hes> let me jump back through it. <hes> michael also said there were no holes for him <hes>. I don't know who he was talking talking about when he said him shannon. Yvette mason had a nice army patience. I think you're correct. I think he's looked solid. They're <hes> grace and laughed at mr button. Nick it rob. <hes> michael chimed in devon white only had one tackle <hes> and there was this whole battle in the off season there there was this debate about the devon's. Look devin bush look dynamic. He was all over the place in one thing. I've really liked about devin bush. He was finisher finisher. He was a finisher. <hes> snowman chimed in big up the snowman. Pick up to you for the super chat who surprised you and who didn't i. I think you're listening to gilbert surprise me. I think he absolutely surprised me devin bush to a certain extent. I was expecting that that that was my expectation about that. <hes> james washington surprise me but i think this is gilbert. Surprise me he surprised me that that a guy as athletic and as fast this is him all over the field like him <hes> that he's a guy that they got in a sixth round who didn't surprising he didn't surprise. I guess so i guess bush didn't surprised is be. I was expecting that giving his immeasurable. 's and what a- what i saw from here at michigan and his ability to play sideline to sideline sideline <hes> you know i did see that i did expect that and that did not surprise me one issue that stood out to me for devon bush was there was a past completed over him into tied in writing for fifteen yard game where he had adept but because of his stature being five eleven. The ball was complete over his head. Now i've had people on my facebook page. Pick up the christian..

"He whipped like two or three times. He's getting taken down the open field by a quarterback to me. That's not that's not any snow football. You know we've we've been snow football using air quotes air for those listening and audio. Although <hes> i just wasn't i. I'm not saying that he's a dud. I'm not saying he's a boss. I understand that now these that first game out of the way he knows what to expect. I hope see some approve next time you already gave him a nickname me and my dad were watching the game but we were just laughing because you know i don't know if you guys know benny and the jets one of my favorite favorite songs might be my favorite all time song. I love that song. I was a kid when he came out and instead of biddy the jets i was thinking benny no jets there is there is a term called lateral quickness. It's how quick you can't cut ah laterally as it sounds lateral quickness. He has no lateral witness the play that you're talking about when he he was all he had to do is make the cut. If you have lateral quickness you don't even have to stiff arm the corner he had to stiff arm to quarter with because he didn't have lateral quickness all you also you could see when he runs laterally his steps get his ballot. He loses ballots and he's just not explosive. You know maybe he has can't legs. Maybe his legs were dead from a lot of activity during camp but he just i didn't look explosive and so when you juxtapose him against <hes> at men's or you juxtaposed him against <hes> in any of the other backs you can see the difference. I mean you can see the difference you could see that they have explosion. There's life there's electricity to where they run the football when benny snell runs and it looks like the lice which is turned off. There's no juice. There's no jets so i'm hoping to see the more honestly i like edmonds a lot better than benny snell and samuel was much better. I mean sample compare samuels and compare your business. Now i mean i know he's a but he'd even do. The one cut down hill stuff well. He was slow to the whole. I mean that's why you can't believe everything. I think that you hear when you're reading about camp stuff. I mean the guy looked ferry pedestrian but he will be protected because of the p the the pedigree. He's a draft pick so i'm sure he's in no danger of getting cut. I don't think benny hill did everything poorly because i thought he did pass protection well. There's a couple of times where he had a nice a nice slides to protect the passer and i thought he caught the ball okay in the end you know and that was something that he wasn't asked to do a lot. In kentucky benny snow is the prototypical in happened with the <hes> the guy that's up in the new york jets now and he was mr. Mr butt naked robbed <hes> mister but nick iran fell he came in and i think a lot of these guys running backs thinks okay. I need you to bulk up. I need to get bigger and stronger for the n._f._l. When in reality they need to be conditioned and they need to be as fast as they can. James connor went through the same thing he came back from your your one year to oklahoma got totally different player. He was more dynamic last season than he was broke. Even in a limited time i would expect any snow to follow that same career path in terms conditioning. This deals will get on him. <hes> i don't want to pile on this kid too much because it's just as i game and it's we've already mentioned. The offense of wine was not that great in especially early on in the game..

"I'm sure that's something they will discuss with them but wow yeah it's Yeah I knew as soon as they started networking these <hes> <hes> these these devices together that it would be a security risk for individuals and it would be abused in in one way or another. It's one thing to have a device we can see WHO's at your front door. That's great but when other people can see that same information. It's not great. It's going to be used against you. You GonNa violate your privacy and it's something you really have to be very careful about and again there are tons of devices like this available that are not not under the Amazon umbrella of <hes> nine hundred pound gorilla <hes> juggernaut that <hes> that it is and you know. Maybe maybe it's worth if you if you WANNA get a device like this considering who has the information rob <hes> you could say the same thing about a company called ring over a year ago they weren't under the Amazon umbrella and guess s what Amazon bought them. This is very true all right well <hes> technologies great. We love the plywood technology we like to experiment with it but we have to also so recognize the risks and <hes> the potential abuses and to expose abuses when when when they <hes> when they happen even if it's just in theory we need to be able to <hes> <hes> see what the problems are. I think also there should be a I think a sense <hes> on the part of the consumer that these companies making these a big huge broad broad based decisions on behalf of their consumers weighing the <hes> impact of privacy or or if at all aw and and basically coming to a conclusion that the the <hes> whatever violation of anyone's inherent privacy whatever that cost I <hes> the the greater good would rather them violate <hes> any sense of that that you might <hes> be deluded into accepting but the point one is that that we as people that are buying this stuff that that is is being wielded upon us we say too so when you're you're speaking out about about this. The company needs to listen because <hes> you know people can just unplug these unmasks and you know if you anger people enough about the on the convenience lenient starts diminishing and disintegrating from <hes> the conception that people have of the device so <hes> there's only so far I think but they can go and we we need <unk> at least <hes> you know have some kind of protection or if they're going to feign that they're concerned about that that they need to back that up actually follow through. I agree with that in theory sorry but I also am aware that we change. We change over the course of years. <hes> a couple of decades ago the idea of having surveillance surveillance in our streets would be unthinkable and now people are demanding it because they think that is how you keep your neighborhood safe is by having cameras everywhere and you know if you you argue. Let's take away. All the cameras people going to oppose that because people are different than they were a couple of decades ago same thing caller I._D.. Remember we used to say caller I._D.. is going to violate highly people's privacy well. Now everyone uses it. It's it's become a normal part of our lives. I just think that <hes> these are steps that we take in a particular direction and <hes> it does not always result in people realizing when they're giving up their privacy they get used to it will end the construction of our spaces right our public spaces and and how we police are we doing <hes> the kind of community policing that that is.

"Spruce. What's up your favorite desserts? I'd stand in the box against Justin verlander fastball for some eminem's hazelnut spread chocolate candies but I don't have to I can go buy some at the store and so can you go Hazel nutty and try the new EMINEM's hazelnut spread chocolate candies today hello and welcome to the rear M._l._b.. Show my name is Mike Obama and I am a staff writer at the ring. If you've seen our video teams latest and weirdest creation the words the worst sports week of the year you know baseball has stage almost two itself at this point the calendar and we're going to get on a real oh baseball news in just a moment but before we do I wanted to take a minute to talk about. Some sad news broke since our last show a baseball perspective stats are rob McEwen died last week. I if you hadn't heard of him before he was just a hugely important person to B._p.. <hes> someone who made the writers who work there or used to work there <hes> book a lot smarter than <hes> than they are including me <hes> so instead of trying to eulogize him on his own. I'll just direct you to to what Ben said. At the end of last Wednesday's episode of effectively wild <hes> he delivered a really wonderful Kirby to rob <hes> that I think really encapsulates away a lot of people felt about him so <hes> rather than try to to restate what Ben said better than I could have a I'll just a direct you there but I wanted to express my personal condolences to rob's friends and family while I had the chance to express my gratitude for a be a really important <hes> real important person in the baseball community in really great guy to work with so yeah. There's no no real easy way out of that so let's <hes> let's start the show and here's that cram all right first up as always Cram Zach. Thanks for joining me. Hello hello just by way of preface. I WanNa say that usually it is not the policy of the Ringer M._l._b.. Show to give the lead the to give the the listeners or the twitter followers what they want <hes> for evidence of this you can see the entire episode the Ben and I spent on the baseball episode of Star Trek Deep Space Nine a couple years ago <hes> but there has been a great demand for some talk about the Atlanta Braves <hes> so much so that I have <hes> been obliged to cave to public pressure <hes> the big reason we haven't talked about them is just they've been quietly competent all year and <hes> that's not as interesting as as the dodgers being way out in front of the packer the rest of the National League of all alternately <hes> being reborn in dying every year <hes> but they are in first place they seem overwhelmingly likely to win the National League East and return to the playoffs they are solid up and down the lineup <hes> so we're GonNa talk about them right now and <hes> so Zach what what further insight do you have. Well Yeah I think even if you look at just the National League East I wrote just last week about how the final central might be one of the closest divisions of all time we kind of expected that about the east heading into the air marlins aside but every other her team in the east has had some terrible clamor to stretch the nationals to start the season the phillies of late the mets kind of off and on throughout the entire year the braves have just been plugging away and that's why they have a six and a half game lead as we speak right now now but it's been like you said kind of less of a Oh. We have to talk about them right now. It's just been more steady especially of late. They've been really really <hes> playing baseball. Since the start of June yeah and you mentioned the morals.

"Welcome to the news and why it matters. I am Sara Gonzalez. We have a brand new lineup with us today. We've got Jason but`real sitting in the first chair here. Wow look at that promote. I see I told him I said Jason. Just because you're sitting there doesn't mean you're allowed to just talk for fifteen minutes with no interruptions not only reserved for Glen little the only reason I agreed to be on the show. We've also got <hes> Layton Watts from I first liberty say that three times faster communications director from I liberty you work with <hes> our good friend Jeremy so we're happy to to have you. We decided to <hes> to ditch him and go with you. I'm kidding I mean just getting better and then we've got <hes> blaze media critic Rob E-e-e-e-no in town along for the ride instead along for the ride fed and a place to move and they'll be here <hes> in two months. Wow Welcome to Texas. It's hot re it. I'm from South Carolina so it's really really it. Is I think probably July is not like the time that you want to just move here and <hes> adapt to the weather so we're waiting so September Labor Day weekend all right Jason Jason. What's your top story today? We used to be the party of fiscal responsibility. That's kind of gone away. I don't think there is a party of fiscal responsibility anymore. <hes> and the twenty two trillion I think is national that <hes> one trillion budget deficit <hes> every year and <hes> the numbers came out from me that showed spending and frightening all right then my story is one of the kind of got lost <hes> towards the end of the news cycle last because the holiday but it's really important <hes> new policy directive from the director offering the secretary of Veterans Affairs that will protect <hes> religious displays at all the facilities around the country so it's a it's a big step <hes> a great policy policy and it is in keeping with he actually cited <hes> the reason Supreme Court decision in our case American Legion versus American Humane Association so we're we're excited to see the immediate impact of that case okay all right can't wait to <hes> to hear the details on Rob <hes> <hes> facebook's Mark Zuckerberg at the Aspen Ideas Festival last month went in bragged about shutting down political ads from opponents of the law or the referendum in Ireland last year that made abortion legal in the Republic of Ireland. I believe it's still illegal in Northern Ireland even though it's legal in the rest of the U._k. but he he said that he wished that countries would do it but if countries aren't going to give them direction on how to police speech he would ask some people in the country how to do uh-huh oh good oh man I can't wait to get into obviously I wanNA thank our sponsor American financing <hes> so if you are looking for home loan refi <hes> whatever the case may be American financing is who you want depend on <hes>. No pressure there. It's just that you kind of want someone who a is knowledgeable <hes> B is not in went for the kickbacks that they might be getting you know in commission and see we'll answer your questions and not Nikki feel stupid because let's face it you go there and there's a big soccer paper and they're explaining things to you and you're like <hes> a ha yeah..

"They're not there yet rob <hes>. They haven't got the squad. I if they were gonna go for a top two finish. They don't miss softy. Give pavia the competition play weaker teams in domestic cops and not not going in in the champions by the way the the era right now that they've got a great team and you've got these two outstanding yeah. I mean nine eight nine seven points in the primarily this team. You saw say you know they're not good enough. Well oh crikey unlucky timing them because they are good enough to be right at them. Winter permanent title this era got outstanding team and you're gonna make the most of whatever <hes> much snotty going through to most after push on again all smell of issues. You're not supposed to push on again. They got to nail that position and start claw a little back rub. That's a big thing. How do they close the gap between them. Muncie in liverpool. That's the big thing uh-huh how how and if you say three or four years to get where he is in this product now throws as ready to go priming. They've won the champions. League chino's is kind of taken a little bit longer less money last residuals and got himself in an a prime position but th there's a twelve nineteen point gap and so how do so in terms of trying to close that gap why we've again hard to improve the best eleven at spurs those who given their salary restraints big-time play that they're not gonna do off of it and then we could also argue the the the team has looked tired this ask the strength of the squad hasn't been good enough to rotate and rescue place so in that regard they could bring in some this squad similar. Yeah squad plays the eleven but may being games out them out a little bit so erickson. It's like a proper break cane or delhi or different players draw. Oh and they don't drop off so much. They win games against some of the lowest. Is you manage it that way to close the gap yes of course they love to bring in and find a star player from french french second division to make them a ton better but that's difficult to do that me throw to question john two plays christine alex right contract's up what happens between him and massive massive few weeks. It's a massive months and massive window is such a good player. Let me so one of the daily alley is he would be the weight. I is the upside rally whereas whereas i think it is it's it's. I think it is well. Jelly allie will have to start to show the consistency that to brewing the shows that davidge lead silver show that position not calling iraqi hind aware i'm saying i i teach very best. Berlin in a different way is is not not quite the deployment with the posse no but he got the energy ruining he brilliant timing goal scoring goals around the ball bringing both the komo's frank lampard aska's knee yeah dot guy who influences zone outweigh and that's between him and the manager to try trying to find that form again was it two seasons ago rob you said eighteen awhile and and i don't know for whatever reason again you you could argue that he shouldn't start that game you could you could throw more and you can rotate in league. Put human son at the top in the the number ten position you rearrange that team came in some ways to be better fix deli on the outside position. I kind of switched to number ten and going outside west sun on the outside. Positional roy moore could've done more of that and then some on the other side so this this ways that you could team up without daily but it does give you that only is a midfield players gaglione fighting him. He's got the physicality is go find. It makes those runs. It's just we're not seeing the very best of him right now..
